Far off, nestled in an otherwise small Japanese town lies the Dark Gate Academy. An institution of tremendous size, the Academy holds a long kept secret. Unknown to the outside world, this unseemly town is home to a tear in our reality. A gate between our world and a bizarre dimension known as the Darkworld. The inhabitants of this hellish world breach this gate and attempt to flood into our reality and spread throughout the world on a regular basis. However, the Dark Gate Academy is home to students of truly extraordinary abilities. The ability to sense the presence of these evil Darkworld creatures, and defeat them in combat, sending them back through the gate.

They cannot close the rift between our world and the Darkworld, but the students and staff of Dark Gate Academy have dedicated their lives to using their amazing powers to hold back the darkness that plagues our world, even if it costs them their lives. They have risen up to the challenge and in secret have become great heroic defenders of the world as we know it.

For many years, Dark Gate Academy has held back the forces of the Darkworld, kept this unspeakable evil contained within their walls. But a dark cloud approaches, and times are about to change. A new chapter in the tale of Dark Gate Academy is about to begin.

“So, are you sure you're ready for this?”

It was a good question from Saki, one that's been asked between the both of you many times. No matter how many times that you work to convince yourself that you are ready, there's those persistent little doubts, and Saki can sense them in you. You suppose it's not hard to read the conflict on your face, and Saki's concern for you consistently.

“I... yeah, of course I am, but... I don't know,” is all you're able to get out as the two of you un-board the train onto your stop, the small port-side village of Kibo... the place you grew up. You wish you felt more of a rush of nostalgia, of familiarity, but your memories of this village are limited at best. You vaguely recognise certain points in town, but the majority of it feels depressingly foreign. “Of course I want to see my parents, but...” you sigh. “I... I can handle it. It's just gonna be tough, that's all Saki... you know?”

You don't think you've even been this nervous before, but that's why she's here by your side. With a smile, Saki places her hand on your arm. “It's okay Ryoji, I'll be with you every step of the way!” she explains. “It'll be tough, but we'll brave through it together. And just think... by the end, we'll know your parents!”

“I wonder what kind of people it took to raise a delinquent like me...” you mutter.

“Well, your mom sounded nice over the phone,” Saki explains. “I'm sure there'll be nothing wrong with them.”

“Still, it's going to be so weird,” you sigh. “Meeting someone who knows me so well, and yet I can't place them at all...”

“Are... are you thinking about Nina?” Saki asks solemnly.

Nina Nagata... I name that sounds so cold on your mind. According to what you've been told by Saki and Maro, she was a girl who knew you well, likely during your childhood, yet when the two of you met, you had absolutely no memory of her. She died in your arms, forever a mystery... but your mind is so full of holes that even that image is lost to you. You have no memories of this Nina Nagata ever even existing... you can't help but feel that whoever she was, you've failed her countless times.

“It's okay...” Saki smiles, comfortingly taking your hand. “This... this is a happy occasion, Ryoji. I'm here for you, I love you... and we're gonna meet your parents.”

“Right...” you sigh. “Sorry for acting so cold, Sak. Just got a lot on my mind right now.”

Not just your parents, not just Nina... but the stone. The stone that was delivered to you in a lockbox Halloween night. The stone that could give you the power of The Stranger without any of the penalties... if you feel you can trust Stranger's word. You can't. But still, you took the stone with you... you need to be able to consider the possibility, think it through rationally before making a decision.

“We should get going,” you remark.

“Right!” Saki smiles and nods. “We've had enough delays already. Let's not forget Akemi trying to hide in our suitcase this morning!”

“Yeah, that was something,” you chuckle.

“I felt too awful to tell her she couldn't come along... luckily Raiden caught her and told her she had work to do... really saved me the painful thought of having to turn Akemi down,” Saki sighs.

“You're too nice for your own good,” you tease.

The two of you walk through this small, dirty village that is overwhelmed by the stench of fish, until Saki stops you just outside a small house with a broken black gate out front. “This is us,” Saki smiles.

“This is it, huh?” You mutter, saddened that the most memories you can attach to this house are hazy at best and completely unintelligible at worst. “This is my home... my parents, do they know that-”

“Yes,” Saki replies. “Of course, they don't know about the Darkworld... but they know you have amnesia.”

“Right...” you mutter, standing still at the gate.

“Do you want to...?” Saki asks.

>Yeah, I just needed a second

Saki nods as she loosens her grip on your hand. "Okay... whenever you're ready, Ryoji. I'm right behind you, as always."

"Thanks, Sak..." you mutter. "I couldn't do this without you."

Saki smiles as she rises on her toes and kisses you on the cheek. "Go get'em, jellybean."

You nod as you cautiously make your way up to the door of the quaint little house. You're clearly from a poor family, and while the path from the gate to the door is a short one, it feels like a mile with every step you take. You approach the front door as you knock hesitantly three times. No answer at first, but you hear some rustling from inside the house. Eventually, the door swings open, and you are faced with the visage of a slightly older looking woman with dirty blonde hair, and some red rimmed glasses adorning her face. Is this the housekeeper or... no, it's not the housekeeper at all. As her eyes widen, her face lighting up with the widest grin you've ever seen in your life, and those eyes beginning to water... this woman is your mother.

"Ryoji...?" She mutters is a high-pitched tone, fighting back tears of joy. "Oh, it's really you! My baby boy has come home!"

She rushes you with a hug. It's unfamiliar... but still very warm. You can feel her tears as she presses her face into your shoulder... poor woman, she must have been worried that she might not see you again. Not a single phone call or letter in all those months... you must have worried her half to death.

"Oh... hey... mom?" you say, unsure of your own words, unsure of what to say.

"Oh yes... your condition," your mother mumbles, her voice deflating. "You don't remember me at all, do you?"

You sigh. "No... I'm so sorry, mom..."

As you hang your head low, your mother places her finger on your chin and pushes your head back up, smiling as she does. "Please... you call me 'maw', not 'mom'! I still remember everything about you, and if it's all out of your mind, then I just need to fill it back up again!"

She giggles happily as you feel a warm glow emanating from her. You never figured your mother to be such a... positive person. "Really?"

"Of course!" Yuki Shida smiles. "I knew that photo album would come in handy eventually! You always complained that I'd take pictures for every occasion, but I've finally found a use for it!"

It's then that your mother notices the small, nervous girl standing by the gate. "Oh... who is this pretty face?" she smiles.

Saki hesitantly makes her way up to the door and gives a respectful bow. "It's a privilege a-and an honour to meet you, Mrs. Shida..."

"Ah, I remember your voice!" Yuki smiles. "From our phone conversations. So you must be...?"

>Let Saki introduce herself.

Gotta allow for Saki to make her own first impressions on you mother, and you're sure she'll come across well. "Y-yes..." Saki mutters. "My name is Saki Kobashi, and I... I've been courting your son for few months now. It's a privilege and an honour to meet you, Mrs. Shida!"

Your mother chuckles. "Oh, you already said that part!"

"Agh, I did?!" Saki cries. "Oh... I'm so sorry! I've made a fool of myself and I... I..."

Saki's intense panicking is calmed by Yuki placing a hand on her shoulder. "No need to get so flustered, sweetie! Come on inside, we'll have some tea and you can tell me all about yourself!"

Yuki steps inside, leaving the door open for the two of you to step in, as Saki breathes a sigh of relief. "Well... she seems to like me so far... r-right?"

"Yeah, she does," you smile. "Gotta say Sak, I didn't expect you to be so nervous about this..."

"I've been anxious to meet your parents for a while," Saki explains. "I really hope they approve of me..."

"Saki, you're a polite, beautiful and kind honour student who's the head of your class," you reply. "There's not a single thing they couldn't approve of."

"Huh..." Saki mumbles. "Let's hope so. I already have one set of parents who don't like me... and I care more about what yours think. Still, your mom seems like a lovely lady."

"Yeah..." you mutter.

"Something wrong?" Saki asks.

You shake your head. "It's just... she's a lovely lady. Isn't that... odd?"

Saki pauses. "No, why?"

"Think about it, Sak," you sigh. "I was a complete jerkwad before I met you. Does this mean... I had no excuse for my behaviour? I... I was just a horrible kid despite having such a lovely mother? Damn... I must have put that sweet lady through hell..."

Saki takes you hand once more in a comforting gesture. "I don't know Ryoji, she seemed very happy to see you. Maybe you weren't as bad as you thought?"

"No, I definitely was that bad," you reply. "That's one of the things I do remember."

Saki nods. "Maybe your mom's just that loving?"

You look around at all the framed pictures adorning the walls, many featuring a young boy with white hair. Man, in so many of them you've got at least some kind of band aid on you. You must have been a real hassle, constantly getting into scrapes. There aren't a lot of pictures of you in your teen years. You suppose you must have figured yourself too rebellious for family photo's by that point.

You enter a small, quaint living room, where your mother presents you with a small cup for tea. "Your father will be down in a moment, he's just finishing up on some work," your mother smiles. "Now... how about we start from the beginning. How did the two of you meet?"

You're taken aback, considering that's not the best story on the planet.

"W-what?!" Saki even exclaims.

"Well, I'd like to know how my little boy met the girl who would win his heart," Yuki smiles.

>Tell the truth.

You awkwardly scratch the back of your head. "Yeah... that's kind of a funny story..."

"Well, I'm always happy to hear a funny story!" You mother laughs.

"Right..." you mutter. "Well... to be honest, we first met on my first day at the academy. She caught me... well, she caught me trying to steal from a kid's locker... and she beat me up for it..."

Saki hangs her head low in her hands. "Oh... it's so awful. I... I apologise profusely, Mrs. Shida. My actions were abhorrent, and I understand if you hate me for-"

Your mother begins to laugh. "Oh, that sounds adorable!"

"W-what?" you ask. "R-really?"

"Of course!" your mom continues. "Son, it seems that Saki here really won her respect when you met, and Saki... you certainly taught him a lesson about thievery!"

"Oh..." Saki mutters, before nodding. "Thank you. You'll be pleased to know that your son almost never stole again!"

"Really?" Yuki smiles. "Then congratulations, Saki. You did what we thought was impossible..."

"Huh?" you ask.

Yuki shakes her head. "Oh, don't get me wrong, son. Your father and I loved you to pieces, and we both still do, but there's no denying that you were quite the hellion in your time. Constantly getting in trouble with the law, getting kicked out of school... we thought nobody would be able to turn you around. Seems all it took was someone very special."

"Me?" Saki blushes. "I wouldn't exactly call myself special..."

"You clearly are to my son," Yuki smiles.

"She's right," you reply to Saki before giving her a quick peck on the cheek. "You are special to me."

Saki looks you dead in the eyes before blushing with tremendous force. "Ryoji..."

"Oh, she's flustered!" Yuki laughs. "I can always tell when two young people have that spark. No need to be embarrassed, Saki. I must say though, I never expected Ryoji to be with a girl like you. Polite, well-spoken, you sound intelligent, and might I ask, are you perhaps from a wealthy family?"

"How did you-"

"Your clothes look quite expensive," Yuki smiles. "Ryoji always hated the rich."

"Yeah, Sak's done a great job of turning me into one of those 'upstanding members of society'," you chuckle. "Making me all more tolerant and crap."

"Well then," Yuki beams, "We must have Saki's parents around for dinner sometime."

"Uhh... I don't think that's going to happen..." Saki mutters.

Yuki pauses. "Why not?"

"I just..." Saki frowns, but her explanation is thankfully interrupted by the door sliding open as a tall man with white hair and a pair of glasses enters the room. You're shocked to see the incredible resemblance between yourself and your father. He looks just like you... if you were a responsible adult.

"There's my boy," he smiles proudly as he catches you on the couch.

"Pop?" your dad smirks as you shake his hand. "Hmm, how did you know to call me that?"

"I don't know," you reply. "It's just what felt... natural?"

"It looks like you're feeling more comfortable at home already!" Yuki smiles.

"And a handshake?" Ryoji Sr. asks. "A lot more formal than I expected!"

"We have this little lady to thank for that!" Yuki replies, pointing towards a blushing Saki.

"Ah, is this my son's girlfriend?" you dad asks, placing a hand on your shoulder. "I'm hoping the two of you will give us plenty of Grandchildren!"

Saki almost chokes on her tea as your dad speaks. "A-ha! Just kidding! There's no rush! Still... I do hope you carry on the tradition."

"What tradition?"

"Your first boy ought to be named Ryoji," your dad laughs. "Ryoji the third."

"That could end up being really confusing..." you scratch your head. "But if I did, I guess I could call him Ryothree or something..."

"I see you still have your nicknames," your dad smiles. "Even for your children. I suppose he has a name for you too?"

Saki nods. "Yes... he calls me Sak. I hate it."

Your dad smirks. "Ah, of course. Sometimes I think my boy's even better with words than I am."

"Hmm?" You ask.

You dad smiles as he sits next to your mother. "Of course, you don't remember, apologies. Your old man's a writer."

"A writer?" you ask. "Isn't that a little... intellectual?"

Your dad scoffs. "Intellectual?"

"Yeah, I just... I figured my dad would be a builder or something. Something blue collar, not some sort of scholar..."

Your dad hangs his head low. "Well son, I'm your father. I'm sorry to disappoint."

"No!" you protest. "Sorry... I'm using all the wrong words here! I'm not disappointed, just surprised..."

"It's okay son..." your mother sighs. "We understand that... in your condition, you must be very confused. We're both very worried about making a... new first impression on you."

"Ha, I'm the same!" Saki smiles comfortingly.

"We just want you to know who we are," Ryoji Sr. explains. "And... how much we love you, son."

>I love you both too.
>I'm sorry for being such a pain growing up.

Your mother sniffles a little as you see her eyes beginning to well up. Apparently that "I love you" was more than enough to set her off. You wonder how many times you said it to your parents while you were growing up, and you silently kick yourself, knowing that you definitely didn't say it enough. "Why are you so sorry, though? You weren't a pain to us?"

"I... I wasn't?" you ask. "But I was a delinquent. A master delinquent! You said it yourself, I was a hellion, always getting into trouble!"

"But you were still our boy," your dad explains. "No matter what you did, we loved you more than life itself."

"I was torn to shreds when we found out the only school that would take you was on the other side of the country..." Yuki explains. "I cried every night for a week. And yet... here you are! You're back, and you've brought a beautiful sweetheart along with you!"

"Oh... thanks..." Saki blushes, still not used to the praise being heaped upon her.

"I'm going to take your bags up to your old room," you dad explains. "The two of you can stay there tonight."

As you dad grabs your bags and steps out, your mother turns to you with a solemn look on her face.

"So... the Nagata's from next door were given the news a couple months back... word passed onto the two of us very quickly," she sighs. "I'm so very sorry to hear about Nina."

"Nina?" you ask. So... that Nina girl did know you for a long time... she was your next door neighbour.

"Yes..." Yuki sobs. "It's so tragic... to pass away that young... and in a freak accident too. Hitting her head and drowning in the lake... oh, it's awful."

"How are you, Ryoji?" your mother asks. "I know how much Nina meant to you..."

"Right..." you mutter, not wanting to give away your lack of memories on the girl out of some sense of shame.

"She was your first girlfriend, after all..." your mother mutters.

Girlfriend?

"Girlfriend?!" Saki exclaims in shock.

"Oh heavens, did you not know?" Yuki covers her mouth. "Oh, I'm so sorry! I'm sure my son was going to tell you when the time was right."

No... no, this can't be... the pit of guilt in your stomach grows ever deeper. Th girl you have no memory of, the girl you failed in her dying moments... at some point, the two of you were in love. And now... every trace of that is gone. Saki looks in your eyes, given a faint comforting smile as she squeezes your hand in a tighter embrace. She knows about that pit, and you know Saki would do anything to try to make you feel better about it. Still... seeing the new love you've found in the wake of Nina's death... it doesn't help with the shame.

"I understand it must be tough to talk about," your mother sighs. "Well, on a much lighter note, I would like to host a little bit of a party for my son's homecoming. I plan on baking some cake for the occasion. Saki, would you like to join?"

"Huh?" Saki asks. "I... I'm not much good in the kitchen..."

>You should stick with her, Sak. I'm gonna walk around town.

"Oh, are you sure you don't want me to come with?" Saki asks, raising an eyebrow.

"Yeah," you smile. "Don't worry, I'm just going to wander around a little. You should stay here, spend some time with my mom. It'll be fun."

"Right..." Saki nods.

"Come along, Saki!" Yuki grabs her by the hand, pulling her into the kitchen. "I'm going to teach you some good Shida family recipes!"

As Saki gets pulled off, you step outside onto the porch. As you do, you pull out a small packet of cigarettes from your front pocket. Staring at them, your thoughts turn to another memory ripped from you by the Stranger... still, you find yourself lighting up and taking a drag. According to Saki, you used to love this things so much... it annoyed the hell out of her in the best way. You're not sure how you took to them so well, they taste positively awful... but you'll grow back into the habit, you're sure. As you smoke, you take a quick wander around the town. Passing by, you see a group of guys about your age, maybe a little younger. A few of them seem familiar.

"Hey dude, is that...?" one of them harshly whispers.

"What, no way! It can't be!" Another replies. "Wait a minute... oh god, it is!"

As their eyes widen, the boys go running from you in fear. Huh... you guess they must be former victims of your delinquency. You're sure you have more than a little reputation around this town.

Damn... your mind is racing. Thoughts of this town, of your parents, of Nina, of The Stranger, of that damn stone... you're so cinfused. Looking around, you wonder which direction you should go.

>Go towards the pier.

Maybe it's the prevailing smell of rotten fish that permeates all throughout the town, but you feel like the quaint little village of Kibo is best summed up by its piers. You place your hand in your pockets as you wander down to the village pier, looking out into the sea by the docks. There are a lot of stares and whispers as you make your way down, solidifying your view of the reputation you garnered for yourself before leaving. Wow... this place is a dump. It's such a run-down dirty city, everyone looks tired... but it makes you feel welcome. Of course, the people themselves don't look very welcoming, some coming across as very unwelcoming in fact... but you always feel more at home in a dump. Like the academy... that place is such a mess, such a shamble... but you find yourself feeling cozy there.

As you look out into the sea, you find yourself contacting someone. Someone you usually try to avoid talking to.

"Stranger, you've been oddly silent for a while now."

You hear The Stranger muttering in your head, his focus being interrupted by you calling him out.

"Huh? Oh yeah..." he mutters. "What do you want? Figured you'd be busy with your family?"

"Just taking some time to think," you reply. "Surprised you haven't said anything about the stone."

"What? Oh yeah... whatever. Use it if you want, I'm not going to force you."

"Huh... figured you'd try to do a little more convincing than that," you mutter. "Aren't you that expert manipulator, god of paranoia?"

"Yeah, yeah... look, I'm kinda busy right now. If you really want, I can do all the annoying begging and pleading to let me out if you want. For now... I'm gonna be a little quiet."

>What's wrong? What are you working on?

"Didn't I already tell you?" Stranger mutters. "It's a surprise!"

"How bout you tell me now?" you ask.

Stranger pauses. "... Fine. I know you won't shut up until I do."

"Sound familiar?" you smirk.

"Okay... and don't get mad-"

"-No promises-"

"It... has something to do with that girl. Nina..." Stranger explains. "How much do you remember from the Summer?"

"You mean from when you trapped me in my own mind?" you ask. "It's... hazy, but I remember you putting me in some sort of... dreamworld. Things were all different, and you wouldn't let me out. I remember that much."

"Good... I'm not going to tell you any more about that, because you'll just get mad at me," Stranger sighs.

"Seems that's a good reason to tell me..." you mutter.

"All you need to know is that Nina had some Archdemon powers of her own... and she used them to put a part of herself inside your mind. I thought after Summer it was gone... but now I'm not sure."

"What do you mean?" you ask.

"That Nina girl bothered me from Day One..." Stranger explains. "Ryoji, I know you'll find this hard to believe, but... I know I never ate your memories of Nina. The initial ones at least..."

"You better start getting to the point and making sense," you mutter. "How in the hell didn't you?"

"I don't know!" Stranger snaps. "That's what's got me all worked up! But what I do know is that something removed the memories you had of Nina before I even hopped in here! But because the memories weren't eaten by me... I think they're rooting around in here somewhere still... along with her spirit. I'm... I'm trying to restore them. So you can remember who she was, and so we can bring her back... at least, the spirit version of her back, and work out what the hell happened to your brain before I got here."

"Wow Stranger..." you mutter. "That's... incredibly selfless of you, actually."

Stranger grunts. "Really, it's not. I want to get answers to this little mystery as much as you do, and a spirit of this girl could be our only source. Besides... it gets lonely in here, I could use a little company. See? It's completely selfish. Stop trying to think good things of me!"

"Still... if you can do that... it would be good," you reply.

"I'll... try," Stranger sighs. "That's all I can do."

With that, Stranger returns to silence, as you are approached by a hagard, bearded man with white hair. He seems to be looking at you with frail, delicate eyes. "R-Ryoji?" he mutters in a low raspy voice. "Ryoji Shida?"

"Yeah, that's me."

"It's me," he mutters. "Mr. Nagato... Nina's father."

... Oh.

"I'm very sorry about your daughter," you sigh.

"Yes..." the man mutters, looking away. "I... I'm afraid me and the missus haven't been the same since learning of her passing. No energy. Ryoji..." the man looks to you expectantly. "Tell me... I want to hear it from you. How did she go? How did my precious baby girl die?"

It's a difficult question to answer, for a myriad of reasons.

>Your daughter died a hero.

"She... did?" Mr. Nagata mutters. "I... I was told she had drowned."

"Yes," you reply. "She drowned while saving another younger, dumber student. They were caught in the deep part of the lake out of their own foolishness, and Nina... she didn't even think. She dove in to rescue them. That kid owes her his life... and I know he won't go a single day without honouring her memory."

"My Nina... did that?" the hagard, worn-down man mumbles, before placing a hand on your shoulder and breaking out into tears. "Oh... she was always such a good girl. So kind, so caring... I knew she would do something so brave... my pride and joy... oh, why did she have to go?"

"I don't know," you sigh. "But we can be thankful that she'll always be remembered... remembered as a hero."

Mr. Nagata wipes his nose as her tries to stop the tears. "Yes, yes of course..." he mumbles in a frail voice. "I'm glad that she could have a... friend with her in her last moments at least. You know Ryoji, I always complained about you. You were quite the delinquent back in the day. When you first began to court Nina, I allowed it, as I was and still am a close friend of your parents... but the whole while I would tell anyone who would listen that you were the wrong person for her."

"You were right," you reply. "I was."

"That may be..." Mr. Nagata replies. "But I can see now... you've grown into a good man, Ryoji. Please, don't be a Stranger to this town. Never forget the place that made you. No matter where you go, you'll always be born in Kibo. You're Kibo through and through. Now... run off home, it'll be getting dark before long."

You walk back up to your house, making your way past the broken black gate, and already you're beginning to feel more like you... belong. Your memories may be hazy at best, but there's no escaping that feeling. That feeling that this is your home, and nothing can ever change that.

You return the the house, and kick off your shoes as you enter the living room.

"Back already?" you hear your mother shout from the kitchen. "We aren't done with the cake yet!"

"I'm h-having a real tough time," Saki moans in exhaustion, covered in chocolate.

"Nonsense, you're a natural!" Yuki laughs. "Settle in, Ryoji! We'll be ready in just a moment!"

You look around the living room, wondering what to check out.

>Look through the photo albums.

You go looking through the drawers in the living room until you come across a thick black folder. In gold lining across the front is the word "Memories". Huh... you could definitely use some of that right now. You pull out the folder and make your way onto the sofa, as you begin to sift through the pages at random. You can't help but smile as you're met with with many photos of your parents at their wedding, your mother in a hospital bed with a tiny Ryoji who looks like an awfully grumpy newborn. Many pictures of you crawling around as a baby, upgrading to you running around... most of the time naked. Kid you must have really hated being restricted by clothes... man, it looks like you were a real nightmare to control.

You chuckle at one of yourself with a pan on your head, playing hero with your dad... while you may not be able to remember it yourself... the memory's right there. The feelings in your heart remain. Your first report card, you didn't do too well... hey, your first time riding a bike! A picture of yourself and a little white haired girl on the slides in the park, captioned "Ryoji and Nina's first day out." It's all here... all of it... and Stranger can't take it away from you.

"Ah, making progress into the baby pictures already?" Yuki laughs as she exits the kitchen. "I have to say, Saki is an absolute delight! She was a little shaky in there, but I think she's learned something new!"

"Y-yeah..." an exhausted Saki mutters, her hair all frayed and messy as she steps into the living room. "It was fun, but... hoo boy, baking is hard."

Saki plops herself on the couch next to you and rests her head on your shoulder. "Are these... baby photos?" she asks.

"Yep," you reply.

"And... are you naked in-"

"The vast majority of them, yes..." you laugh. "Turns out I was a real Akemi growing up."

"Wow..." Saki smiles. "You look so adorable. A real cute kid."

"Yeah... he was," Yuki smiles back.

"So... these are your memories," Saki mutters.

"Yeah, usually this is something to show the girlfriend for the first time, but..." you mutter.

Saki holds your hand. "We're learning together!"

Your mother chuckles. "Of course! The two of you can explore that photo album together! And soon... I'll be adding plenty of pictures of you two in there!"

"Yeah..." Saki beams. "Ryoji... let's make plenty of new memories together!"

Saki leans in, as the two of you share a gentle, tender kiss... until a flash goes off in your face. You spin your head to see your mother holding a camera that just went off.

"Maw, where the hell did you get that?!" you exclaim in shock.

"Ryoji, it's good to see you still have your colourful use of language!" Yuki pouts. "I was just taking the next photo for the collection! The caption I'm thinking is... 'Meeting the parents: Can't keep their hands off each-other!' What do you think?"

>Go for it, sounds good.
>How about 'Before they were married!' or something?

>Go for it, sounds good.

Your mother clasps her hands together with a warm smile on her face. "Oh, I knew you'd like it. I see great things in the two of you!"

"Yeah... so do I," you smile, as you give Saki another quick kiss on the lips. You love it when she's blushing, it always makes her kisses feel warmer.

"I still can't believe it," Yuki laughs. "A girl like Saki... you're the exact opposite of the kind of girl I'd think my son to bring home."

Saki bites her bottom lip. "Well, it wasn't easy... we actually didn't get along at all at the start of the year. Always arguing, always clashing..."

"Yeah, but we all know you had a soft spot for me," you tease.

Saki blushes. "Wha-I may have had a soft spot, but what about you? Mr. Master Delinquent, bringing the principal's daughter a burger and card in the hospital? You had an even softer spot for me!"

"How about that time you went out of your way to convince me to stay?" you fire back.

"How about when you voted for me in the class president elections, when nobody else would?" The passionately voiced Saki throws back.

"Well, what about that time you saved me from-" you begin, hoping to mention the various times Saki's saved your skin from enemies, until you remember your mother is present. You pause, trying to think of a different end to the sentence, but one that's no less truthful "-Myself... how about that time you saved me from myself, Saki?"

"R-Ryojiiii..." Saki blushes, squeezing your hand tighter. "How about that time you saved me from myself?"

You and Saki lean in, pressing your foreheads together, and and looking each-other dead in the eyes... her deep-blue eyes, the eyes you could get lost in for days, the eyes that saved you, that made you feel things you had never felt before. You just want to take her and-

Your mother clears her throat. "I hate to interrupt you two lovebirds, but your cake is ready!"

With that, your mother places the cake on the table, as your dad comes downstairs, all four of you feasting into it. "Wow... this is really good!" you exclaim, taking a bite of the cake. Considering Saki's cooking skill, you're really surprised by how amazing the thing turned out.

"Well, Saki will be sure to make plenty from now on!" Yuki smiles.

"I really won't be any good without Mrs. Shida's help..." Saki mutters. "It was really all her. I just helped."

Regardless, you throw your arm over her shoulder and hug her tight.

As you eat up, you decide to make some small talk with your parents, try to learn a little bit more about them.

>So... how did you meet? Good thing to know about my parents.
>What was it like raising a master delinquent?
>What have you both been up to recently?

>So... how did you meet? Good thing to know about my parents.

Your father chuckles. "Oh, that's a fairly simple story. I was a struggling writer who moved to this small village in hope of... calming my mind, finding some inspiration."

"And by that he means his uncle offered him a job as a dock worker," Yuki laughs.

"But that other part was true, too!" Ryoji Sr laughs. "Anyway, I found little luck here... until one day, I went to the park to calm my thoughts. There, I saw my inspiration. This beautiful, wondrous woman with dirty blonde hair, helping out a small child who scraped his knee. I had to talk to her."

"When I saw him approach, I thought I was in some kind of trouble!" your mother chuckles. "He was so determined in his approach. But he walked up to me... and he said that I was the most beautiful human being that he had ever laid eyes on, and that he would like to write a poem about me."

"Hearing myself talk, I thought I might have come across as a creep," your father explains. "But your mother simply smiled, and said that she would love that. It was an instant connection... and within a year, we were engaged."

They way the tell the story, you know they've told it a million times over, most of those times probably to you. It's so hard to believe that these two wonderful happy people raised a rough twerp like you. You spend the rest of the night reconnecting with your parents as they continue to shower you and Saki with embarrassing praise. By the end of the night, you find yourself being lead up to your childhood bedroom, where you and Saki will be staying the night together.

As you step in, you're met with one thing... rockets. Rockets, spaceships, stars... lined along the wallpaper and on the desks of your room. Models, books... everything.

"Wow..." Saki giggles. "You must have really liked space as a kid, didn't you?"

"Yeah... I must have..." you mutter.

"You... you don't remember that either, do you?" Saki mutters sadly.

It's not fair... it's not fair! This was your childhood, this meant so much to you, and now... now it's just an empty space in your head. Why... why does this have to happen to you, even something this small? Why was your life so good? Why were your parents so loving? And why did you have to lose all of that? It... it's not fair! It's not right! The pit in your stomach... the tears dripping down from your face...

Saki takes your hand and smiles. "Come on."

"What?" you ask.

"Come on!" Saki giggles, pulling you forward. "You don't remember this... so let's explore!"

You wipe a stray tear from your eye as Saki drag you around the room. "Hey look, it's a model of the Apollo... 13! Looks handmade!"

Saki holds it up in front of you, as you notice written on the side... "Ryoji Shida, age: 8."

You smile at your creation as Saki continues to look through the room. "Hey, look at the dinosaur figurines!" she laughs. "You really held onto your childhood toys, even into your teen years?"

"Looks that way," you chuckle. "Oh man, if anyone would have seen this... my delinquent reputation would have been ruined! Everyone would think I was a complete dork!"

"Let's see..." Saki licks her lips as she opens one of your top drawers. She stares down with a smile, before her eyes widen and she slams it shut. "Oh, nevermind!"

You open the drawer to check out exactly what freaked her out... ah, it's you collection of those magazines. "Every guy has them, Sak."

Saki chuckles in embarrassment, as she steps back, falling onto your bed, inadvertently pulling you down onto it with her. The both of you begin to giggle... man, this room is so goofy. As you look into Saki's eyes lying on your mattress... complete with Rocket blankets, of course... she reaches up and cups your face in your hands.

"Ryoji..." she mutters. "I'm ready."

"Ready?" you ask. "For what?"

"You know... for that."

Ooh... well, you are on the bed. "Sak, are you sure? You don't have to rush into this."

"I know..." Saki replies. "But I love you, and... I'm ready. We can do it... tonight."

>Then I'm ready too

The following night is the single most pleasant experience in your life. You were both very nervous... but you both had a lot of fun. Of course, there was the added worry of not waking your parents up... which turned out to be a real problem for Saki, who had to bite down on the blanket to stop herself from making too much noise. But all together, it was tender and close and warm, and when you were finished, the two of you just held each-other close until the sun rose. Two people bound together in perfect harmony.

"Wow..." Saki mumbles, gasping for breath. "That was... wow..."

"Yeah, it was..." you mutter, before leaning over the edge of the bed and pulling out your pack of cigarettes from your pants.

"W-what?!" Saki exclaims. "You're smoking again?! Don't you know how unhealthy that is?"

"You don't mind, do you Sak?"

Saki buries her head in your chest. "No, not at all. That was amazing, Ryoji. We... we should do it again."

"Yeah..."

"So... did you think they h-heard us?" Saki asks in a worried voice. "Your parents... they didn't hear us, right?"

"Saki... you were loud as hell," you tease. "There's no way they didn't."

"Ryojiiiiii!" Saki whines as she throws a soft pillow in your face.

"Hey, I'm just glad it's official," you reply.

"W-what's official?" Saki asks.

You chuckle. "Sak... you're officially lewd."

"Noooooooo!"

The two of you are in high spirits and full of laughter when you walk downstairs in the morning. You eat up a delicious breakfast made by your mother... who judging by her glances, absolutely knows what the two of you got up to last night. At least she apparently approves.

"So... I suppose you'll be going back to your school soon," Yuki sighs. "Well... it was nice having you here, even for just a day."

"Your friends?" Your father asks at the table.

"Yeah," you reply. "I made a ton of friends in that school... I guess during all the catching up, I forgot to mention them. There's my best friend Ken, he's my roommate. Loves fishing... there's Rini and Kosuke, they're always up for pranks... they just got married too... Akemi, oh you'll love her. She's always cheerful, and she loves to bake. Chihiro's a lot of fun, but she loves to tease, Isamu's a total goof, but he's a good guy... Rei is really cool too, and-"

"Wow, that's a lot of friends!" Yuki laughs. "You... you really made that many friends at your school?"

"Yeah, and I've got tons more. Why?"

Yuki beams brightly. "You never had that many friends anywhere else... you didn't have much at all. I... I'm so proud of you, sweetie! Oh, I knew you could make friends if you tried!"

"You're a natural socialite, son..." your father nods proudly. "A natural leader."

It comes time for you to catch your train. Your mother gives you a tearful farewell as you hug your parents goodbye for the time being. It was good to see them, and it was good to see this dump of a town. It may be fuzzy, but there's no denying it... you're Kibo through and through.

You step onto the train with Saki and quickly fall asleep in your chair, slouching so that Saki can sleep on your shoulder as well. Neither of you got any sleep last night, after all.

"Ravage me, Ryoji..." Saki mumbles in her sleep, causing you to drowsily chuckle to yourself. "I love you Ryoji... let's stay like this forever..."

You smile as you close your eyes over again, wrapping your arms around Saki's shoulder. You came to that town with so many doubts and fears, but now you leave it with a warm feeling in your stomach. As long as you have Saki, as long as you have your parents... it'll all be okay. Even your memories of Nina, even The Stranger seems to be becoming a better being... yes, the future is bright indeed.

You hear the sound of someone sitting in the chair opposite you in the carriage. You peer your eye open, as you see a elegant white-haired girl plopping herself down. "Hello, Ryoji."

Your eyes shoot open as you realise who you're talking to. "Wait a minute, you're-"

"Miyoko, yes..." she smiles. "I see you've heard of me, Ryoji. Don't worry, I'm not here to harm you or take you anywhere."

"Then why are you here?" you ask.

"It seems we both have troubles ahead," Miyoko explains. "My... family are with me, but Yami knew you were going to be on this train."

"What?"

"Ryoji, he's opened a rift on the tracks," she sighs, "We can sense it... and within just a few moments, this train and everyone on it will be plunged into the Darkworld. A trap set for yourself and Saki. I've already sent word anonymously to your school of this portal, but it will be a while before anyone will arrive."

"What?!" you snap. "Crap... we need to get everyone off the train!"

"Or..." Miyoko explains, "We allow ourselves to enter the spider's web... and we burn the spider alive. Ryoji... how would you like to finish this with Yami?"

Great thread Booker! Was really charming.

>PQ
I expect lots of our cast members showing up. We may need to use the stone. And some sweet demon hunter powers coming into play.

Also, train battles!

>BPQ
Very. But in a cute way. Though, really it depends on the secret bins.

Poor Ryoji firing nothing but air.

We get to control Team Miyoko and kick Yami's edgy butt. Monster will be a train.

>BPQ
Too lewd, she'll never be the same. Thread was nice, meeting the parents wasn't as suffering as it seemed to be and everything worked out. Thanks for running Booker.

SHTF and we find out what the drawback is to using the stone that Stranger has been hiding all along
>BPQ
She very lewd, she's shown repeatedly how things go when she drops her normal guard, now she went all in it downright dirty.

Also first thread I catch on the same day, and by the time I catch up reading it's over, one of these days I'll manage to actually get here on time again.
