Story Summary:
In ages past men lived simpler lives - they would hunt, farm, fight and always respect the might of the Old Gods. Shamans led the clans with their elemental magic - so it was for many generations, before history was ever written down. The great hero Rog united a dozen human clans into a tribe that would form the foundation of our future Kingdom. One day Rog mysteriously vanished - then came the Great Storm - when it passed, the shamans could no longer feel the presence of the Gods and had lost the source of their magic.
The 1st Century After the Storm saw us becoming a proper civilization, beginning to accept the New Gods of the Pantheon and adopting technologies and customs from the east.
By the end of the 2nd century we were beginning to catch up to Paitras as larger wars were being fought.
The 3rd century saw the fall of Paitras and the rise of the Norse, with Roggar filling in much of the void left. By the end of the century most of Paitras had been reunited.
The 4th century saw the Pantheonic faith strengthen, defeating barbarians in both the north and south.
In the beginning of the current century, a devastating plague ravaged our lands, killing a quarter of the population - soon afterwards, racial tensions led to a civil war in Roggar, which was followed by invasions from Paitras and Zhongian. After much bloody fighting, peace was agreed on, with Roggar becoming part of the new Holy Pantheonic Empire - a Golden Age of prosperity has continued for three generations now as the Empire encompasses six nations, with the current Emperor being the Paitran King, Kazial Ezgielan.

The Plague and the subsequent Zhongian-Paitran war for Roggar affected the lives of many, among whom were the Lectre family. A set of nobles from Dragonstomb with a slightly sketchy background and somewhat... peculiar tastes, their businesses fell apart piece by piece as the Zhongian army occupied the city. Eventually, they paid to be smuggled from the city and fled, walking for miles before stumbling on the charred ruins of Riverhugger. Settling down for the night, they realised this was to be their new home. Not knowing the old name of the village, they gave it their own: Starling.

Having built up their new home successfully (as well as surviving an ecounter with a being of the Vast), William Lectre passed away peacefully at home, secure in the knowledge that the future was bright.

One of his sons, Chilton, ruled the town in his place and made efforts to connect with the elite of Roggar. In addition, thanks to talks with a centaur clan based within the kingdom, the Lectre family now owns the only public carriage business around.

Of course, things never stay so good for long. One of Chilton's sons, Anthony, spent years as a mere troublemaker, getting drunk and harassing people. After one particular journey, he returned home speaking of strange places and sights, telling his father all he knew. The next night, he tried to take the life of his brother, Mikkel.

Mikkel, enraged by the assault in the presence of his wife Runhild of Erden, brutally killed Anthony for the attack and disposed of the corpse.

Enchantments - the art of imbuing a material with certain magical properties that are either passively active at all times or trigerred by certain conditions. A simple, but useful(and thus relatively common) enchantment is mana storage, containing a mana charge in an artifact for later use. An enchantment may cause a weapon to strike down evil beings or to make a staff shoot lightning bolts.

The subsets of the art of enchantment are several:
>The magical effect itself - its properties and functionality
>The material on which you put the enchantment - the higher the magical potential of the material, the more useful it is
>Fueling and controling the enchantment - more complex enchantments are less user-friendly and may need the user to have some understanding of enchantment or the particular spells contained

Rolled 3 (1d8)

As age finally catches up on him the Councilor spend more and more of his time working from his bed, writing proposals for laws as well as treatises on agriculture, warfare, rulership, ethics and commentaries on the Teachings of the Sages. As his hands gradually loses his strength he takes to writing by dictation. When he finds himself lacking the stamina even for that he finally orders his scribe to write his last will.
He instructs his fellow Councilors that the new leader must be elected on the basis of merit and virtue, nothing else. He also requests that his follower must seek reconciliation with the Advisors, peace and cooperation will benefit the entire realm and provide the best options for returning their lost brothers to the proper ways. Finally, he requests that his funeral must be as modest as possible while still carried out according to the proper rites as described by the ancient scriptures.
Having carried out his last duty he lays back, assured that the future of the Councilors is in good hands. A few weeks later he falls asleep for the last time.

The Councilors quickly get to work selecting a worthy follower:
1. Some saint who honestly believes in virtue and morality, hates violence
2. A dick, morals are for the weak & peasants
3. More forward thinking, not as strict about sages & doctrine
4. Former soldier who joined the Councilors, as much a soldier as a scholar
5. The son of the former Councilor
6. Something unusual: Wonderchild-scholar, woman-scholar or WEWUZ advisors n’ sheeit.
7. Some heretic, secretly studies sorcery and all
8. “The way of the sages is a philosophy of peace. Death to all who say otherwise!”

>3. More forward thinking, not as strict about sages & doctrine
The new Councilor is elected. A moderate open for new ideas and negotiations. This potentially bodes well for the settling of old grudges but is also a topic of resentment among the old guard who participated in the schism with the Advisors.

The former Councilor is buried as according to his own wishes. All the traditional funeral rites are carried out to the letter but with no unnecessary expenses. Mourning is widespread (within my territory, can’t speak for anyone else) and several thousand peasants journey to Foothold to attend the funeral and the (modest) mourning-feast held afterwards. Everybody who wishes to attend is welcome.

Rolled 2 (1d10)

One day the 15th Trusted Adviser wonders to the highest tower in Trusted Defence. With a grimace he looks over the river at the fortress of Foothold in mourning before drawing back inside to have his daily meeting with his advisers.
On his way there however he suffers a stroke and collapses into the arms of Petter and begins ranting about "Halfling Shits!" and "RIGHTEOUS FURY!" before lying still as the medics rush towards him.
He later gains consciousness and assures his followers that no matter what happens Roggar will endure and to ensure that so must the advisers. Telling them to maintain their ways and to never back down to opposition before the stroke takes him once more. This time he does not awake.
With the Silver Skulled flag of the Advisers is wrapped up in respect a new Adviser must be elected from among equals, it may take a number of weeks for the ballots from Barnabus' Rest to reach Trusted Defence but the Advisers are willing to wait. As counting finishes Petter announces that the new Trusted will be:

1. Some saint who honestly believes in virtue and morality, hates violence
2. A dick, morals are for the weak & peasants
3. More forward thinking, not as strict about sages & doctrine
4. Former soldier who joined the Advisers, as much a soldier as a scholar
5. The son of the former Adviser
6. Something unusual: Wonderchild-scholar, woman-scholar or WEWUZ advisors n’ sheeit.
7. Some heretic, secretly studies sorcery and all
8. “The way of the sages is a philosophy of peace. Death to all who say otherwise!”
9.The descendant or relative from another noble family
10. A Pantheonic Zealot whom believes in the grand philosophy of "PURRRRIFFFYYY!!!"

After a much contested election were many ballots went missing and one candidate was also left fatally wounded by an assassin the Advisers finally elect a cold and quiet man with skin pale as milk. He ascends to the throne and moves Petter Gunnerson away by simply holding eye contact with him.
There is no great trumpet of triumph when he sits down. Nor any grand speech. Simply a thin smile that pierces the souls of many within the hall.
With the Skull of Ledvelast in one hand and the Soul Sword in the other the new Trusted Adviser finally utters on sentence: "No more Talking".
The hall of Trusted Defence is awfully cold for the summertime.

495 and 496 saw scorching, dry summers that led to a drought - in the spring of 497 an outbreak of some new disease starting spreading from the West, originating either somewhere in western Roggar or the Halfling Kingdom most likely.
We don't know what exactly causes the plague, but its symptoms begin with coughs, rashes, dizzyness, then more severe breathing problems, nausea and heart failures. The plague is spreading rapidly, having affected all settlements on the western side of the Fullwater River, from Semport to Firsthold.

This map shows the areas that we believe are currently affected.

Elsewhere, casualties were medium-sized in the countryside, while towns and cities that got word early shut their gates down, while infected settlements were put under quarantine. The plague continued causing deaths for 2 and a half years before physicians and priests developed remedies.

The worst of it is over by the turn of the century - casualties will start lowering now and we'll begin regaining our losses in a few years.

The big problem is the food situation though. Production and stockpiles were bouth thouroughly decimated and this time we can't rely on the Halflings either, since they were also hit hard and are struggling themselves. Paitras and Anglanorse had few, if any casualties as a result of this plague and willl likely gain from it by selling surplus food to us.

1.Only make it secret if you really, really have to, for fucks sake. If you'll do something that'll change the way the map looks, for instance, it's not going to be a secret IC so don't waste my time by making me look at PMs
2.State what you're doing FIRST and roll SECOND.

Faction project:
Improve militia (kinda like D)
In this realm all must be willing to fight to defend their homes. The Councilors will ensure that the common people within their domain serve a 2 year term of conscription upon reaching the age of 20, this service will be military as well as serving as labor for public works. All village leaders will be given a cache of weapons and also be given instruction in strategy and tactics as taught in the scriptures of the ancient masters. Intense work is also carried out to ensure that the loyalty of the militia is to the Councilors rather than the Monarch.
Also, a number of the commoners (say 5% of my pop) will be exempted from taxes in return for maintaining their own full military kit, training and remaining ready to serve as the Trusted Coucilor’s own military force should the need arise.

Council project:
“Merchants are notorious for seeking to extract profit at the expense of their fellow man. Even several lords in our realm are participating in this immoral activity. At the very least their ill-gotten gains must be used to benefit the masses.”
This law will place an extra tax upon all mercantile activities in the realm, the money will be used for poverty relief, helping the sick, construction of infrastructure and projects that benefit the common people.

Born of a collaboration between the Swift-Hands family and the Roggarian War Council the next stage of golem creation is underway. Using data gathered from the combat usage of Sentinel Prime by the Blorcs, the Golemmancers of Gobopolis have set upon improving the general design and efficiency of golems in general. The major change for Centurion though would be the design principle, as this golem would lack the extensive magical capabilities of Sentinel Prime instead focusing on physical ability and the projection of wards of all kinds.

That is unfortunately not how the Law of the King is implemented in this realm.
If we all could freely ignore any rule that don't serve over momentary interest, then what use is having laws and rules? Breaking a law must have consequences.

The Imperial Grand Temple is a wonerous building, perhaps the tallest human-built construction in the world, with an interior height of about 60 meters - the upper levels are a recreation of what the priests percieve Heaven to be - aside from wonderous decorations and statues, illusion magic creates images of clouds and angels, the priests having put in a lot of imagination. Shrines to the 13 Gods of the Pantheon are there and hundreds of visitors are already inside - the High Pontiff of Dominas is there along with the Pontiff of Kragnaal and Laekam. Dozens of priests from the halfling, Paitran and dwarven churches are present, as well as some representatives from Anglanorse, Petrekshan, the High Elves and even one centaur priest. There are many nobles and upper class citizens of the Capital here in attendence, there will be a sermon soon.

If you want to do any individual actions - speak to somebody, pray to a certain God, marvel at the temple or whatever you wish, you can do rolls.

What seems reasonable to wealthy lords such as you might not be as reasonable to the starving masses of our country. We must all do our part for the poor.
At times like this is is worth remembering the words of the sages: "The mind of the superior man is conversant with righteousness; the mind of the ordinary man is conversant with profit."
Rather than concerning yourself with the accumulation of even gold you should be conserning yourself with the morality of your actions.

>Your law will not be enforced here.

Dick II walks forward with a plain wooden cup with some water in it and kneels before the statue of Juras "Lord Juras in your mighty power, I humbly ask you to grant this lowly servant in your Judging gaze a boon.
I ask that you give this chalice the power of extending the lives of your most reverent followers and allow for them to become closer to your power and access it easier so that they may dispel the dark taint that has leaked into the world.
Grant me this boon mighty lord, and the knights of Juras will be yours at last"

Duke Godric meanwhile attempts to improve relations with the Centaur priest and have him put in a good word for the empire when he return home.

My wealth comes from mining, Mercenaries and Cattle.

My duchy was just hit by a deadly plague the second time in roggars history. I handed out food and aid to my citizens last time and I did it again. Not one person in my duchy starves.

My people will prosper, be they mercenary, merchant, labourer, Brewer or Peasant. I provide jobs and do my duty. Your taxes would bring down business and such create more peasants and jobless peoples as most people of constantinople are traders and merchants.

Adding to the problems of Roggar.
Before you "lecture" me on the situation of roggar and its people why dont you first find out what I do for my people.

"Old man, I am afraid your time in this world will soon come to an end. The Gods will judge you fairly. If you are destined to meet your sons in Hell, know that those who repent and show true devotion have a path through Purgatory into Heaven."
The priest offers Chilton a place to stay in the temple complex where he will be taken care of in his last days or perhaps hours.

Godric's talks go well. Dick is told by a priest that it is not the length of a mortal's life that matters the most, it is what he makes of it. To seek to prolong one's life beyond the natural could lead some men to hubris, for it is that which has led many to abandoning the Gods and becoming foul demons - rather than be scared, you should welcome the Gods into your heart, for the righteous shall join them in Heaven.

I see you're all conveniently forgetting that our realm just suffered a destructive plague and that starvation is widespread. Yet you insist on your coldhearted assesments that all those who suffer somehow deserve no compassion.
Allow me to quote the sages: "In a country well governed, poverty is something to be ashamed of. In a country badly governed, wealth is something to be ashamed of." With our current situation (2/10 food) the poor deserve our compassion, not your contempt.

If you have such extraordinary wealth then you should utilize it in the servitude of our king. That is what would benefit both our liege and the people the most. After all, the master said: "Luxury leads to laxity, frugality leads to firmness. It is better to be firm than to be lax."

The sun is now setting - we have just barely enough time to get dressed for the feast!

The Emperor welcomes you all to the Palace. He gives a speech to his subjects from across the Empire and at the end declares the Feast to be beginning!

We start with light drinks, apetizers, pleasant conversations and introduction of entertainers.
You see the Emperor and many of his vassals; Maldam Kragnan, son of Staram, King of Kragnaal and some of his vassals, as well as members of the ruling councils of Kelregan and Kasvoeg. The Halfling King, Opulest Ondalan and members of his court are present. There are noble delegates from Petrekshan, the Centaur Kingdom, the High Elves, even the High Jarl of Ozlakmar. There may be even more guests around.

First round of the feast begins - enjoy yourselves, Roggarians, bids the Emperor!

Mikkel walks over to the emperor and the priests, nudging him softly to get his attention. Not taking his gaze away and speaking steadily, the son of Chilton begins to speak.

"You should be ashamed of your mockery of an empire, friend. Your glorious collection of races and kingdoms is built upon the shoulders of scoundrels. The Pantheon do not care about me, or you, or any of this. They are selfish and petty, just like those they claim to guide. They exist only to serve themselves and care not for anything but whatever goals and pleasures they seek isolated within the heavens. Pain, death, plagues, famine, fear, everything that they claim to govern? They have no control over. The gods mean nothing; they remind me of an apprentice mage just learning to begin his training. They act mighty, but deep down? They know. THAT is why the old gods are gone. THAT is why they do not make their presence known. THAT is why we must suffer. This world is a cold and uncaring one, where blood goes against blood and good, noble men share their fate with the lowliest thieves. We are mere shadows upon the wall of life, and nothing we ever do will matter, because the next greedy set of mystical fools will come to claim power and wipe away what once was. End your life, you pathetic, miserable, wretch, and give Mor my regards for stealing my father from me. Tell him I will be down to slay him soon enough."

With that, Mikkel turns and begins to walk away.

The feast is moving on now as the food is brought out for all to eat! It is massive in quantity and utmost in quality - you could feed an army with this much food, in fact, striking a sharp contrast with the western part of the Empire and its food situation.
The courses are very varied - vegetables, bread, pastries, fruit, meats, spices, alcohol, fish, just about anything you can imagine. Icefish from the cold northern waters, Lemons from Zhongian, Troll liver from Hasgaldam, the variety is astonishing.
The Paitrans usually eat in a lounging position, sometimes using utensils like the elves do. Dwarves prefer to use their fingers, while halflings have an entire ritual of eating in which they go through various stages of using utensils and then shifting to just fingers.

You all have the greatest variety you will find in the Empire at your disposal now, ladies and gentlemen!

The Emperor thanks everyone for their attendance and bids them a good night of rest as the most majestic feast in human history is conclded.

A messenger, guarded by Imperial Guards, delivered a message to the Roggarian Dragon Commander, as the highest-ranking military official of our Kingdom present.

The Empire is making preparations for a holy crusade to cleanse the Demonic Ashlands. The other Imperial Pontifficates are in agreement. It's been decided that the Crusade must commence before the end of the decade, though you don't know why exactly.
The feast is over now and the various rulers are going back to their homes.
The Imperial Treasury has raised its tax rate to 20% from all constituent Kingdoms for the next 10 years. The expenditures for this feast were massive as well. There's rumours of the Paitran High Pontifficate adopting the methods of the High Elven Temples of financial transactions and currency safekeeping - something that may play an important role in the changing economic circumstances.

Roggar itself is still struggling with agriculture and finances are now in a hard spot as well. At least the plague's over now.

I must say with deep sadness in my hearth that in they year of 501 my grandfather Gebhard has passed away. Loved by his subjects, firends and families the singing of my Grandfather will surely be missed in the halls of Lakton. However this is no time for despair, for Gebhard wouldn't want us to sulk and stay down. He would wish for us to continue living and cherish his memories of him, so in his spirit i am glad to announce that my sister,Ortun, has taken fancy to Cernunnos Hawthrone and they will be getting married at the island of Mukava. May we prosper and cherish many as great moments as we can!

I agree with the Centurion here - if we are to do this, we must first take as much knowledge as possible...

As for this damnable war, what kind of fucking morons rule this Empire of ours?! We are vulnerable due to the agriculture problems we face, and yet our rulers sit feasting in the Imperial Seat of power... bread and circuses, bread and circuses. I do not want to murder my own kind, and the fact you suggest it makes me ill. I will most likely help the kingdom when the time comes, but destroying a nation because they are a different religion than us - that is the mark of barbarism, no different than what the Norse have done to us many, many times. With this show of decadence and ignorance, I think the fall of the Empire will begin. Roggar must stand ready.
>>
From the desk of the Dragon Commander Imperator Dameotas.

Fellow Lords Merchant Preachers Farmers Scientist Philsophers Knights and Soldiers of Roggar some time between now and the begining of the Ashland Crusade I will be holding a Meeting with the Imperial War Councils if you have any objections about this Crusade please send them to me so I might relay them to the rest of the Empire.

The demons are slavers and raiders who attack settlements all across the Western portions of the Pantheonic Empire. While I too disagree with this crusade do not attempt to make this conflict a solely religious one. If they lived at peace with us I am sure we would never have been forced to attack them.

At the moment, 9 factions have their members present in the Manifest Dawn. I will not reveal their identities unless they wish to do so. Our current organization looks like this...

??? - Eye of the Dawn
??? - Heart of the Dawn
Barnaby (Hawthornes) - Soul of the Dawn

The Duke of Gobopolis has stepped down so he can spend his time in the Gobbo homelands running a mission to help his less fortunate brethren. In Gobopolis the “Great Swift Games” where held to determine the new head of the family from among his children. In a great upset the favoured to win Flayer Swift-Hands was forced to step down as evidence of a longstanding sexual affair with a human of the Godric family was leaked to the public. After this upset the runner up in the games was declared the new head of the family, one Lily Swift-Hands. So for the first time in it’s long history Gobopolis is ruled by a woman.

The good King Randalf has seen fit to give me the Royal Cartographer role AND to send 200 men, specifically mages, to the Volcanic Order on Eigersil. For this I thank him, and to another 500 years of Roggarian dominance everyone.

As the council roll for 500 was not done previously due to the role being up in the air, I have decided to map out the islands directly south of our continent, specifically so we can map the gap between our continent and the one below us, as well as gain valuable information on who controls which islands.

It affects the very people you say you care about so much. You want to tax the backbone of Roggar. The hardworking merchant class, I am no Merchant Zhongian.

It is each Duke's duty to provide for and care for his people and I won't stand for my people being abused by your tax.

Finances are stable at this point (>6/10) and you ask for more money? Why not pay the farmers to provide food for the people from state treasury. That is benefitting everyone.

We go to the city of Defilaen - only slightly smaller than Gate City, it has a prosperous harbor and even boasts walls of its own, unlike Gate City. We don't know much about this place other than the fact that it is involved with a lot of maritime commerce and we can see that the harbor is filled with ships of all sizes.

What should we do first(together)?

Blood sports are an important part of demonic culture. The arena in Defilaen can't match the splendor of Dragonstomb's Gladiatorium, but it is fully able to handle the needs of the city.
It's a fighting day and various fights are scheduled, with room in the schedule for 2 more . It's morning now and the next fight starts in about half and hour.
Everyone vote for yourself

Those who chose C may now roll for whatever it is they're doing away from the arena.

The 1st fight of the day is the demon ogre Grekark against the demon orc Shamar. The fight is to surrender/knockout/death, but if one fighter kills the other his reward is reduced - policy of the Arena sponsors, who believe that Demon Lives Matter.

If you're in the arena, either just as an observer or as a potential participant, you may place bets on either fighter. Those who want to fight later should now choose if they want to fight against each other(1v1/2v2) or together against other foes.

It has beautiful illustrations, including old maps and tells the story of how the portal to hell was opened 8 centuries ago and the Demon Wars that ensued. It will take you days of nonstop reading to finish.
>>847033
It appears the city has no central leadership or government, but is instead a collection of private organisations that work together. The mercenary company "Ashcoast watchers" maintain the walls of the city and provide protection, as long as you pay up - within the city they have no major competition. Merchants and landowners pay them to maintain some semblence or order. Things such as the harbor and the arena are sponsored by private entities - the arena's chief sponsors being a family of dwarven smiths who converted to demonhood, two experienced beast tamers and the owner of a slaughterhouse.

Shamar won the fight after striking his opponent with the pommel of his sword in the chin and knocking him out.If you bet on him you get some earnings.

Now, the Roggarian fighters have all been grouped up together - present yourselves to the registry, your timeslot is three hours past noon, you will face a group of equal strength. No holds barred in terms of how you may fight, but killing an enemy is discouraged - aside from setting a bad precendent(the surviving enemies would be more inclined to kill you in return) you get a smaller reward.

The time has come now!
The four Roggarian fighters are teamed up together and will fight against four demons:

>Ahotius - Human Demon from Paitras - a former priest, he knows magic and has decades of fighting experience, but other than that we know little about him. Short sword and small shield, medium armor
>Shitabya - Dark Elf Demoness from Taemein - a sorceress that specializes in Flame magic, fights with a demon blade in melee, light armor
>Porhotum - Dwarven Demon from Kasvoeg - was a soldier fighting on the Frontier to stem demon invasions for decades. His outpost was overrun and he converted - some say he was a turncloack to begin with. Fights with an axe, hammer and throwing daggers, medium armor
>Salmorak - Ogre Demon - experience fighting under The Mighty's banners, uses a shield and hammer and is heavily armored

(These are controlled by Hare, Inky,Chive and Lectre)

The two teams are arrayed on the opposite sides of the arena.
Let the fight begin! Roll 1d100s and decide on what you'll do.

I would like to announce the creation of two novels. Trusted Advisor and I have written a book called "A Roggarian Plot...", witch goes into the vast history of Roggar's plots and plotting thouhgout the ages. I have also written another book with the House of Yalmfrid have written a book together, called "Roggarian Plots for the Simple Minded", a children's how-to book for plots and plotting that any noble Roggarian child should know how to do already.
*Reading though these tomes, one can come to the conclusion that Roggarian plots are on level like none other, making the vast plots by other nations look like child's play in comparison.*

"When the Zhongian Empire sends its people, they’re not sending their best. They’re sending people that have lots of problems, and they’re bringing those problems with us. They’re bringing tea. They’re bringing crime. They’re rapists. And some, I assume, are good people.

But I speak to border guards and they tell us what we’re getting. And it only makes common sense. It only makes common sense. They’re sending us not the right people.
I would build a great wall, and nobody builds walls better than me, believe me, and I’ll build them very inexpensively, I will build a great, great wall on our southern border. And I will have the Zhongian Empire pay for that wall. Believe me folks"

A young man enters the House of Lords, wearing the Shroud of Shadows and holding a Staff made from a branch of an Adellwood tree. As he comes closer, many can see that a piece of cloth covers his eyes, but the viable skin surrounding the cloth show many faded scars, claw-like in it's shape. As the Faction leaders of Roggar enter the room they see thee imperator already seated looking as if he hasn't gotten any sleep.
Once everyone is seated the imperator begins to speak.
"Alright i'm going to make this simple."
"The master has the key to the Demonic Gate in the Ashlands. He seeks to open it and unleash a tide of demons across this world who were born in the bowls of hell."
"Thats why the other nations are so intent on doing this in the year 508. I went to that meeting expecting to tell off them off for what their doing but now I cant side by and not doing anything. I need to know who will stand with this crusade?"

As I have said my friend - I will stand til' Gate City, then no further. I suspect the Empire has other motives than those stated for wanting to attack the Ashlands, otherwise they would have just organized an attack on the Master.
>>
>>848166
If this is true I opt to stay and help defend the kingdom from any who would exploit a sudden lack of military presence.
>>
>>848166
heh, an Invasion you say? Truly worrying, i will just send Lanfrank to seek 'em. I won't pretend to know one bit about military strategy or tactics but i am willing to listening to your ideas. Besides, if Roggarian blood is going to be spilled we should get something in return, heh.
>>
>>848150
"Thanks faggot. Now we have enough hidden robed fags running around Roggar. It's getting old son. I can put on a magic blanket to cover myself and go around shooting magic and being hot stuff." Cover myself up with robe and get Rolf staff out. And blend in with the darkness.

>>848166
*Under the hood Reinhard II thinks*
"I'm the hero this kingdom needs, people don't know me but we got to fight back the invasion as this is not, demons that want to live they want to take over the world,"

I'll will help lead the troops but my lands was hit hard with the plague So I can give leadership but no troops for the fight. I still got to repopulation my lands.
>>
>>848166
And, pray tell, what would be so bad about the freedom of those who were once men and women just like us? I know not of this "master" but I know of men and I know of gods. The demons within my life are often better men than any human or goblin, and it is those that follow the pantheon that cause my family strife. My grandfather and father both died - and did the gods care? No. At least these demons... nay, these PEOPLE, at least they are not so disconnected that they sit in another realm doing naughy but LAUGHING AT THE SUFFERING OF THOSE THEY ARE MEANT TO OBSERVE.

Back in Starling, Faison finds the letter about this meeting and grabs a carriage.

D. I shall ride out amongst the lands of Roggar and denounce the actions of those taking part in this "Crusade" - the people are listening to scaremongers and lovers of war, who seek to justify their massacre of innocents with the threat of a master whom nobody has ever seen. If the gods cared in the slightest and this was a certain event, they would prevent it, not leave us all to die in war.

(Brother, what you say is heresy. The gods know all and guide us a nation to make us stronger however they see fit. You should be thankful mother does not hear this talk, or you be sent to meet Mor just like Grandfather.)

Don't dare bring up Grandfather Chilton around me again, Faison. Father merely defended himself; he was not raised a kinslayer. The gods are merely unjust and uncaring - that is the world we live in.

Our Royal Army is divided into Legions of 5000 men each.

>skirmish legion(light infantry, archers, light cavalry),
>defence legion(heavy infantry and spears, archers)
>advance legion(light and heavy infantry and spears, archers, small cav support)
>mobile legion(all sorts of cavalry)

Light infantry - humans, goblins, halflings
Archers - humans, goblins
Heavy spear/pikemen - humans,ogres
Heavy infantry - humans, elves, ogres, minotaurs
Light cavalry - human, goblin, centaur
Heavy cavalry - human, centaur
Horse archer - centaur

60 000 fighting men are serving in 12 Legions of 5000 men. We have:
4 Advance Legions
3 Defence Legions
3 Skirmish Legions
2 Mobile Legions

A Legate commands a legion, under him serve five tribunes, each having 10 Centurions who lead a hundred men each.

We will send 8 Legions, a total of 40 000 men, to the Ashlands.
The Current Legions we have:
>1st Advance Legion
>2nd Advance Legion
>3rd Advance Legion
>4th Advance Legion
>5th Defense Legion
>6th Defense Legion(Remaining at home)
>7th Defence Legion(Remaining at home)
>8th Skirmish Legion
>9th Skirmish Legion
>10th Skirmish Legion(Remaining at home)
>11th Mobile Legion(Remaining at home)
>12th Mobile Legion
The King appoints Legates, Legates can appoint Tribunes, who can appoint Centurions

So the first thing I want is for the Dragon Commander to appoint the Legates(King Randalf delegated the task to him). People can post in the thread or in discord to ask for which legion they want to lead. After the Legates are appointed, they can give Tribune posts to other players.

I'm off to sleep now.
By 1pm EST or so tomorrow I want the posts to be distributed and people to be ready - we will begin the campaign then.

Roggar has brought 57 000 troops in total. Kragnaal, Kasvoeg and Kelregan are contributing with 50 000 in total. The halflings have provided 5000 that will oversee rearguard and logistics. Paitras has commited 60 000. Those with fleets in the Elven Ocean will send them to Defilaen and Sugubel - the High Elves will deploy 25 000 troops from either of those once taken.
The demons lack a central, united government, but every single demon is capable of handling him or herself against a human militiaman at the very least.
Bases on the frontier have been established and supply routes are in place, but even with that the Empire could at the most field 120-150 thousand troops in the Ashlands proper. Wounded and exhausted troops can be rotated with the ones in the rear.

Our primay objective is Gate City. The dark elf demon city of Taemein may have to be taken, as its location will immensly help with moving around troops.
Defilaen is the chief demon port - our side's fleets will blockade it and any other demon ports to prevent them from recieving reinforcements from elsewhere and to prevent demon pirates at sea from returning to help. Seizing Defilaen from the land side could greatly help as well.

"If you have no other questions or input to offer, tell me, Roggar - which target would you like to take on?" asks the Emperor

Our allies took Taemein and the ports after mighty attacks - several warbands tried to harass oru army while it advanced from the wst, but that didn't do much more than slow us down a bit.
All but Gate City had fallen and victory seemed in our grasp until we heard the roar of the firy mountains, the volcanoes. Rivers of burning earth flowed forth and have now surrounded the city from all sides, like a blazing moat. This must have been controlled by the demons for it not to have harmed the city, which otherwise lacks walls.

Our Alliance has armies on the northern and eastern sides of these flaming rivers.

Consider that 98 roll to be something you don't know in-game.

A week passed as our armies are deployed on all sides of these rivers of fire - a circle with a radius of about 5 kilometers. We had some time to swap the few casualties we had with fresh troops from the rear.
The rivers are somehow draining into the earth and the path to the city is open now - our force holds the northern side, the Paitrans hold the eastern side, the dwarves hold the west, the elves hold the south.

Well, theres some interesting news to say the least. They Demons have actually managed to organize themselves. This however is due to the masters efforts. Theirs traps and defenses throughout the whole city. All who didn't bend the knee were killed.

Whats worrisome however is the demon mages. They are teleporting demons to and from the city, to where is unknown. They have began absorbing the lava flows into themselves and congregating at the gate. Every single slave is caged up at the foot of the Great Gate. The most shocking news however... the master has control of a Dark Titan 30-50 meters tall. The Demon armys numbers is atleast 50k, emphasis on atleast.

Hope you people are ready for the big one in this war.

Lanfrank got up from the ground, missing his left arm - he felt no pain, only anger as he led the last of his men in a charge into eternity.
As he kills demon after demon, he feels a pike punch through his armor and into his chest. The last thing he hears gives him solace.

"FOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO KASVOEEEEEEEEEEEG!"
The dwarves are here! There is yet hope!

A messenger arrives
"There will be no reinforcements from the Frontier! Prince Randalf's rearguard is engaged with demons who were trying to come up on our flank - the Prince was mortally wounded, I don't know if the rear still holds though."

Bad news, that - we must hope that we can either push through the enemy and close the gate somehow or that our allies arrive in time - that Titan is still blocking their path!

The high elves have arrived to aid us! The Paitrans are holding down the Dark Titan, which has allowed the elves to reach the Gate - they field elite heavy infantry, archers and priests, wielding powerful Pantheonic magic. Their leader, High General Baehalam, personally leads the heavy infantry, each man standing equal to a demonic warrior and with holy magic on their side - greater.

26 000 Roggarians, 15 000 dwarves, 16 000 High Elves

"Fight on, men of the Empire! I am with you!" the booming voice of the High General is heard across the battlefield as he launches himself into the fray, the magic of Stoman making him a walking fortress.

Shortly after what the titan said, the armies hear a booming voice. "ENOUGH!"

From the Heavens she descends - Archangel Vehta, Vanguard of Heaven, come to stem the tide of demons and close the Gate, but first - to deal with the Dark Titan! She is heavily clad in armor, and a massive sword. She descends and gracefully lands on the ground. She draws her sword effortlessly and swings it around in an almost taunting manner. A grin spreads wide across her face.

"Hell thinks it will win today. The black titan thinks it will win today. To that I shall say merely one thing. Not today."
>>
Vehta descends with bombast enough to alert the Titan to her presence, giving him time to turn around and block her sword, his magic ready to target her as she loses the element of surprise.

"There is no respite for those who have taken up the task of killing the Prince of Darkness. I'll finish you off before the mortals then, leave them to the daemons."

Zethin attempts to swing at the Archangel with his massive blade, attempting to disarm her - that is, cut off her blade arm.
>>
Rolled 53 (1d150)

The Archangel attempts to dodge the magic, and moves forward, sword drawn, ready to strike another blow! She gives a mighty slash with her sword!
>>
The Titan's dark blade cuts through the Archangel's left arm, severing it at the elbow - the lower part falls to the ground, blackened.
>>

"Angels down here for the first time in... well, that doesn't matter. Your gods hold no power here other than controlling the weak willed flesh sacks you below us."

Zethin now aims for her chest, attempting to rot the angel from the inside out.
>>
Rolled 124 (1d150)

>>853307
Vehta takes up a defensive stance and The Archangel attempts to regrow the lost arm through the usage of healing magic. She mutters a prayer "Drana grant me the strength to defeat the prince of darkness. Allow me to regrow my arm."
>>
Vehta's left arm grows back, though from the elbow down it is unarmored. She blocks the Titan's strike in time and is ready to fight with her all again!
>>
Rolled 123 (1d150)

>>853328
"Oh, a regrown limb? Is that the limit of your abilities? That's no matter - corrupting the enemy is what I'm good at after all. A chance bit of healing does nothing more than extend this fight, but either way I'll finish you off."

One last attempt, but at her sword now - disarming her is the easiest way to win, Zethin decides.
>>
Rolled 28 (1d150)

>>853328
She strikes back! She pushes back, trying another heavy cut at the titan's chest. She retorts. "You say my gods hold no power here, however I assure you, it is YOU AND YOUR FELLOW TITANS that hold no power here."
>>
The angel is disarmed with such force that her sword is sent flying towards the flaming mountains! The Titan is still unhurt and armed with his crude, but powerful blade.
>>
Rolled 93 (1d150)

>>853355
"First your arm, then your sword... now your skull."

With that, Zethin attempts to use his shadows to cut at the Angel's neck in an attempt at decapitation.
>>
Rolled 118 (1d150)

>>853355
The angel first attempts to dodge the cut at her neck. "Nice shadows, but all I can say, is that its about to get lit."

She casts Blazing rays of searing light! Essentially holy lasers of light that are aimed directly at the titan's chest.
>>
The Angel shines as a beacon of hope, the light scattering shadows and searing the titan's chest!
>>
Rolled 91 (1d150)

>>853383
"Bahaha, that all you got?... nothing personal kid."

The shadows try to envelop Vehta, hoping to leave her as nothing but paste and mush on the ground.
>>
Rolled 122 (1d150)

>>853383
A wide grin spreads across her face. "Nutin personal kid." She instantly teleports behind the titan and attempts to grab him by the neck and wrestle him to the ground.
>>
[Watching the battle in awe]
To Baehalam: "You only see battles like these once in a very long time I doubt my children and their children after will see something like this."
>>
The titan is grabbed by the neck and thrown to the ground, his weapon slipping out of his hand! The Angel stands above him, in a superior position!
>>
Rolled 92 (1d150)

>>853405

"Ah... blast it! You claim to rule over the heavens, but your gods will not take physical form for their followers. I claim you rule NOTHING!"

Another attempt to leave her as mush on the ground, starting with her feet, with the shadows working their way up her body. Even if the shadows just restrain her, this allows Zuthin to stand and grab his weapon.
>>
Rolled 140 (1d167)

>>853405
The angel attempts to finish him off, locking the titan in a chokehold and rendering him not only immobile but also forcing him to concede the fight to the archangel.

All those who were in Divata's cult are essentially crying tears of joy now.

448 vs 248 (Angel rolls count for our side - had the Titan won, his rolls would've been helping the other side now!)

We're pushing through the enemy! The armies of light stand together as demons fall by the thousands! We have almost reached the gate, no more than 20 meters separate our frontline from it!
As Imperator Dameotas loudly taunts the demon leader, a smooth voice is heard across the battlefield.

"Here I am, whelp"

Imperator Dameotas finds himself teleported in front of a 3-meter tall demon - the War Councilor's head is grabbed as he feels his very life force draining from him.

"Brothers, sisters - have you come here only to have these tyrants cast your dreams of freedom down?! Nay, I say!"

The Master has made his appearance on the battlefield!

I roll for the Master - this roll goes to the demon side. Both sides get 4 normal rolls, the angel's 1d150 helps the Pantheonic side separately.

Seeing that she cannot close the gate. She mutters a final prayer to the gods. "If it be your will. Then I know what I must do." She gives a brief shake of her head. "There's only one way this can be done. Let's end this."

She runs straight at the portal, covering it and grabbing onto it, preventing the demons from coming through.

Vehta runs at the portal and latches onto it, having a height of 32 meters to match its 60.

The demons target her - blades, pikes, claws, magical attacks, they come by the thousands.
The Archangel had a plan. She would have to use all of her power at point-blank range to sever the connection between the Gate and Hell. She could not concentrate her power, though, with the entire demonic army assaulting her, she could not control it.
Archangel Vehta screamed for the first and last time - it was not fear of losing herself, but sorrow at what would happen to the mortals.

The blast that ensued could be heard in Gregariapol. All living beings in the Ashlands and the Frontier perished - no survivors of the battle of Hell's Gate are left, no witnesses of the Angel's appearance. Only the Gods will know what happened.
The other result of the blast were earthquakes and volcanic eruptions in the Ashlands - and elsewhere...

We'll hopefully continue tomorrow.

Jesus Christ that took forever to get caught up on everything. Well I would like to explore/upgrade the mineshaft/crevice that is in Centerhold. After it is all tapped out, we could convert it into housing, or even another city carved into the rock, if engineering is good enough.
>>
>>853960
Mate, that explosion could be heard in Roggar. Your mineshaft will be one of the first casualties of Nayte 2.0.
>>
>>853966
Not unless he started on it after Nayte 2.0
Who knows it can show up more metals after that quake and they started after the explosion?

Or maybe the whole city of Centerhold will fall into the crevice because of Nayte 2.0.

Situated on the border of Roggar and Ezirin, Barnaby and the 7th also heard the blast. A cacophony of rumbling and it felt as if thousands of voices had suddenly cried out in terror and were silenced.

Indeed. I too felt the disturbance in the force.

One of the War Councilors assigned to the border guard walks up.
