I've had an idea for a civ quest which has some different concepts. The key one being the idea of "what if Darwin's discovery of the genetic bell curve didn't exist?" that is, what if genetics didn't have limits, and eventually you could depart just through breeding strategically get completely different results?

All rolls will be based upon the d100 with bonuses depending on research, items and skills.

Dawn of humanity and the world

-----------------------------------------------

The Gods united together to create the universe and planets, and everything within them. They knew it would take every single drop of their power to make the best Creation they could. A flash of light and a loud chanting died away slowly as the worlds were made, humans among the races created.

Around 400 humans came into being placed on the edge of a quiet (but rapidly coming to life as the birds and other creatures realized they existed and their nature asserted their selves) forest.

The humans did not know where they came from, or what they were supposed to do. All they had was some basic collective knowledge, and individual specialist knowledge. They also had some tools and basic clothing.

[s]The original gods have completely exhausted themselves making Creation and either completely have ceased to exist, or are powerless incorporeal beings that potentially can be filled with power through prayer. However no one has any knowledge of them, since the Gods were careful in making their Creation cool. Magic will be a bit different in this civ quest but is doable. Requires breeding and being careful and time.

There is also Crafting that will be an option opened up a bit later when I feel we have the capability of it. It will be making unique/special versions of what we already can make generically[/s]

Looks like food production is basically unanimous as is magic. To get an update out, I will pick tree cutting down and magic. So you both get 2/3 what you wanted

A third of the tribe decides to deal with the food situation.

Another picks chopping down trees for construction and heating supplies.

The remaining members after talking to each other think about a strange concept

>>856600
the strange concept is related to greenery and mushrooms
>>
I will ask you guys to do the rolls in future once voting has been completed. I got slightly impatient lol and had half done an update

The foragers are not very good at finding food, and it will take them doing it full time to supply the tribe. This is very unfortunate. (locked unless you want to change it to something else and risk no food production)

The wood cutters were not very successful, but managed to chop down enough trees for tool repairs, basic heating around a bonfire and some lighting. Not enough for more than a few huts on top of that.

Experiments with living plants and fungi was unsuccessful, however the idea of power coming from nature is now present in the tribe. And a variety of mushrooms have been eaten. Some very sick people, others unharmed. No deaths.

we are on the outskirts of a forest, with easy access to water from nice streams and creeks. Fairly inland. Some hills within a days walk.

We get new baskets and decent wicker armour for about 50 tribesmen. They will be who we call upon if attacked. We don't have a military or any traditions about it, but better than nothing I guess.

Food production goes solidly

Update coming soon
>>
An idea took a chunk of the populace by storm. "Why don't we build more baskets? why not use them and make them differently too? Look. These plants here, let's call them wicker-plants can be made quite easily and are very versatile. And look, they are hard to break when made properly! we should use this for as much as we can!"

The Gatherers noticed that there were some edible yellow grass growing on the plains and had the idea of digging specific holes in the ground for them. Since the crop only needed shallow holes, the gatherers used their tools to make long lines. After a hard days of work, a few fields had been made, with reasonable levels of food being harvested. It wasn't very good quality and was quite hard, but could be beaten into a stew of some kind, and when fruit and mushrooms were added it was alright.

+extremely basic crop fields researched

However, those making homes were unable to work out how to build them properly. It was quite a disaster, and the shelter would need to be reconstructed very regularly. At least it would provide some shelter against rain and sun, but nothing to be happy about.

Fortunately, the weather was very good and no one would die. Clothing the tribe started off with was still holding up okay, but slowly breaking. Any losses could be handled by baskets so far.

Anything to do with basket weaving has a +10 roll and if in doubt it is a success. We have had our early few years consistently involve baskets and wicker successfully and it is rapidly becoming a cultural fixture.

Let us roll for house construction with a +10 bonus.

We also now have some form of hierarchy due to me liking >>856867 idea of a council of craftsmen. While it isn't the ruling class, the top 20 best basket weavers have a bit more influence and priority in survival.

roll for lumber production -above 50 means we will have permanent lumberjacks and won't need to roll to make lumber. Above 70 and some of the lumberjacks also practice scouting and hunting.

roll for hunting and improvement of food production above 50 is permanent improvement

The as-yet un-named basket weaving tribe had many break throughs this year.

Craftsmen utilized their basketweaving expertise and over the course of the year a house for every person was built. Not only that, but a large building in the center of the village was built. It would be the gathering place of the best craftsmen.

Now that everyone had good houses, they could now have space to raise children. In preparation for this, everyone paired up. lots of mating happened. The first babies were born during autumn (200 babies). Unfortunately this means that there are no women available to do the heavier work, as they are all child-rearing and home-makers. (an action is locked for everything that requires strength).

part 1/3
>>
part 2/3

Now that the lumberjacks and foragers (the ones who weren't maintaining the farms) had a couple years of getting used to failing at effectively hunting and chopping wood, they finally worked out how to do so effectively. The sound of trees falling would be a routine event from now on.

Not only that, but some learned how to hunt, explore and scout. A huge river was found running through the forest several days travel within.
Murlocks!

Much to the scouts shock and surprise, they discovered that the tribe was not alone in the world. Short fish-like creatures that yelled in guttural language and had crude spears and small huts on the river's edge! There was a crude tower and some rope bridges poorly made connecting a few of the bigger trees.

Fortunately, the scouts were skilled enough that they were not seen. Everyone has been warned and the scouts are on patrol duty until more decisions are made.
>>
3/3

Over the course of the tribe's existence, the few years had given enough time for those of natural talent in food acquirement to prove themselves.

these top hunters and gatherers are part of the council of advisors and have picked as their duty to improve the skills of every other person in their career.

Y'know what else baskets are good for? Shields! I made a big tall, flat basket and nobody could touch me. I bet if we made a bunch of these we could have an awesome shield wall.
I also made a neat basket helmet that had wicker deer antlers. It worked great at keeping my opponents at bay and poking them with the tips.
Speaking of poking with tips, we could make spears too.
And keep an eye on those fish people.

The news of potential enemies only a few days away in the forest brought with it a new sense of danger and worry, and the concept of the need to prepare a defense.

Juliana the Maid - so named because she was the only virgin in the entire village aside from the toddlers - had the idea of developing moving protection in the form of shallow and large wicker bowls. She named these "shields". a lot of others decided to copy her, and soon there were shields for all the men.
Now, as for using them properly that's another matter.

Bob Stabbie - so named because he liked to poke people with his axe when annoyed - had the bright idea of making a weapon that's actually designed for stabbing. From the same material as baskets, he built long sticks, and then added sharp rocks to them by wrapping the shaft with wicker. Other people decided that this would be quite a good way of attacking from a longer reach. Soon there would be enough spears for all men.

Spears and shields made of wicker are able to be produced easily, but there is as yet no trained units of spearmen

part 1/x
>>
>>857494
And?
>>
The love of basket weaving and the nature which doth produce the materials to making baskets and relevant paraphernalia started off as a small flame deep in the hearts of the Tribe.

And as the powers of basketweaving developed over the four years since appearing, the flame has become a strident fire in the hearts of all Tribe members.

There is a deep sense of unity within the tribe. Everyone does what feels necessary to help survival and flourishing. There isn't a sole leader. There are experts and non experts in every field, and everyone is respected for what they can do.

Because of this, a culture has developed. One that Bobus Rossus - so named for his enjoyment of adding white flowers to his baskets - has called "One Basket Many Strands" culture.

+OBMS Culture has been formed

As the strands of basketweaving are all combined, so a religion followed quite similar to the culture - but still different.

Basket may be the main part of the culture, but one man realized that it was not the source as such, but rather an example. Maha Tama in his chats with others won them over with his explanation of everything being a Web of Life. Not web of a basket, but rather of a living entity. "Everyone including animals and plants are part of the same source. A form of deity if you will, not a god or creator but a common existence. We should try to be reasonable and not take too much." and thus a religion is born.

+5 to diplomacy within ones religion (improves morale and reduces infighting possibility in future).

>>
What with the best hunters training the other hunters, and the good farmers doing likewise, as well as an increase in the amount of people hunting and farming, there was a massive increase in food production.

so much so that quite a lot would spoil and be eaten by the birds and meat would be wasted.

Jeremy -soon to be J. Box- had a brain-wave. "hey, why don't we make large containers in the shade to hold all the food that we can't store otherwise? what about having others designed to let meat hang and dry without bugs getting on them, maybe have the containers of meat in the sun?

And why don't we try out some of the powers I sometimes imagine in my dreams? something involving blood...."

Over the course of the year, Jeremy Box -with the help of mothers in their spare time - crafted many food storage containers. Not only that but he made a super special one, using ideas from his dreams involving blood and words whilst under the influence of colourful mushrooms.

The results? complete storage facilities enough to hold for 10 years. And a smaller, mastercrafted red tinged box that glowed red softly. This box was about the size of dining room, and had two partitions separated by a wicker curtain.

+Unique Holy Site that is unnamed as of yet +40 to morale rolls when fighting within close proximity to it. May have other effects, not sure as of yet.

+Blood-Wicker Mage Jeremy Box a bit of an enchanter. He is very unreliable and I need to think about what he does.

lol. peeps forgot my cousin crashed the car and it was in the shop

scouts and woodsmen developed tree huts to accommodate their longer time in the forest, which were fairly hidden. Not amazingly so, but well enough. These were then improved with foliage. These provide reasonable defense against non climbing and non fiery enemies.

The lumberjacks and builders also built a wall around the village, and a gatehouse of some kind. It's not the greatest, but will be very helpful.

The men of the Tribe realized that just because they had shields and spears did not mean that they could actually use that equipment.

So they started to train in units and managed to get some sort of idea. Shields up, spears out, poke the enemy.

By the end of the year, about 200 men were able to wield spear and shield, but it would be several years until any would grow actually skilled.

No generals or special tactics would be possible. Not until there has been time for military traditions to occur.

More of a levy. But a good start.

We make a council of village leaders and in the future all your base are belong to us. We buddy up with them so much we all join together.

One thing I want to make clear, the groups have to be the same skin color as us. No intermixing if they are too different in appearance. But we're see how it comes

Well, not all of them would be adults, it would be about half. Gonna say murlocks have a shorter lifespan but higher breeding that humies.

But yeah, they outnumber us. Though they have had way tougher times.

Okay. You guys still sending a diplomat and an honour guard?

>>857825
are you advocating another year of turtling? what will happen is we get through our first action before scouts appear, in which I will roll dice to see if the scouts attack or run home.

then we get our second tribe action before a possible attack (they are hostile but not retarded).

Then after all the diplo and murlock stuff is over we do our third action completed.

Last update then I am going to bed

fail, success, fail

A pair of scouts were sent in every direction. They came back after a few days and didn't find anyone or anything of obvious note.

However, Maha tama Ghandi had a much more successful time. he and his honour guard intercepted the Murlock scouts and, after a tense postering of weapons, managed to have some form of parley.

Murlocks demand to be left alone or they will war with you. They and Maha tama's guard chop down three trees to make a border.

This peace deal is probably only a temporary affair. And only due to the Murlocks having had a hard few years since creation.

>No intermixing if they are too different in appearance.
I disagree. Dawn gave us an interesting premise of strange evolution that we need to explore.
But most importantly, we NEED that River.
Every true civ has a river. And if we can control that river, we can use Wicker boats and Wicker fish traps to become a naval superpower in short order.
And in order to take control of the river without fighting the Murlocks then we need to press every possible advantage. Including interbreeding. Interbreeding breeds loyaltyNot to mention how advantageous hybrid fish-people would be to our navy.

>>857883
You mentioned that they are on hard times, while we have a food surplus. We can give gifts of food to endear them to us and put indebt them to us then push for an embassy.

Meanwhile we need to spy on them as much as possible so that if shtf we can easily compromise their food supply and infrastructure.
Perhaps experiment with poisonous mushrooms and fermentation so that we can spike/poison our aid packages if relations turn sour.

TL;DR Push Diplomacy and Scouting hard. We need to have ninjas and spies everywhere.
And push military & trapmaking in case things get ugly.

We have enough food and houses to last us a while and our culture and religion are established. So now we need to focus on dealing with this new neighbor. Assimilate them and rule the waves!

Year 5
Jeremy Box and his wife are raising their two (3yrs and 2yrs old)children up in the ways of blood-wicker-mancy. The family have a different take on the Web of Life, but it isn't hugely different. As of yet Jeremy hasn't managed to do any other great works, just messing around with trying to build smaller red baskets. Plants are being experimented with to little success
The Tribe warriors do not train full out, the majority of them only practice together every afternoon(they have to do other jobs like hunting and farming afterall). However, there are about 50 who train harder and more often than the others. So far, they simply have better morale and a little more skill. With time and combat they will show themselves as more experienced

Population: 400 adults. 200 children. 100+100 toddlers

Culture: One Basket Many Strands

Religion: Web of Life

Government: Tribe with some sort of very minor council of skilled workers

Military: 200 spearmen with shields with 2 years training. 50 women with crowd control. Most of the spearmen have axes as they are woodcutters generally. Some scouts

Technology: basic tools and clothing. Wicker everything. Basic farming. Food storage. Wicker Architecture. Basic weaponry. hooks for climbing

Traditions: Basket weaving specialty, Minor culture of spearmen

Magic: VERY VERY unreliable and seems to be blood and drugs powered wicker related.

Assets: basic tools and clothes, tribe population, some wood supplies. Several food fields. Wicker armour of good quality, lumber supply. Holy Site (made by Jeremy). Jeremey Box. Treehuts, a wooden wall and gate, LOTS of houses.
Heroes/Named-people: Juliana the Maid(inventor), Bob Stabbie(spearinventor), Bobbus Rossus, Jeremy Box(first mage of any kind), Maha Tama(diplomat +5murlocks)

Women are getting a bit more spare time from raising kids now that they are slightly older, no education system is put in place, parents just teach what they think is needed
Pick two. The third is locked due to training and the fathers getting lobbied by the mothers to spare time to play with the children. If you want to change this you can, but it will have an effect on the tribe (if you get the fathers to not help with the kids, the kids will be much more likely to follow after their mothers, or be combative with their fathers)

Looks like our Tribe doesn't understand ranged weapons, and the kids don't wanna listen to anyone other than their family members.

The Maid attempted to work through an idea she had had, about forming a curved piece of wood and putting a string on it and having a smaller stick. All of it failed with the larger stick snapping, the string snapping or her getting stabbed by splinters.

(That's using the average of the first two rolls, next will have average of second two rolls)

while the young ones (none of them are older than 4 years old) were very reluctant to do anything other than play with their fellows and follow their parents and play with them, the mothers managed to get together some sort of system of skill training and lessons.

Children will now be taught a more unified set of knowledge, and some sort of testing of natural ability will lead to them being placed in careers that most suit them. It's all very burgeoning and will have to be adapted as they grow up. After all, there are exactly NO parents who have had past experiences. Everyone is in the same boat of fresh experiences. No one knows what will actually work, as none of the parents have ever had their own parents. At least the Creators seem to have given a natural competency that stops the parents from messing up too bad. And as usual there are naturally skilled parents.

Some sort of education programme that will pay off, for now it keeps the kids under control
more babies are born, because sex happens. Going to be a consistent +50 from now on

How to pursue new technology while maintaining Wicker Synergy Bonus
A:Construction
Want stronger buildings? Slap some mud on your wicker walls and houses to make wattle & daub. Almost as strong as stone, helps regulate moisture and creates a smooth surface that can’t be climbed.
B:Food
This is a low priority for now. We already have grain fields and plenty of granaries with surplus. Maybe woven hats to improve farmer efficiency or wicker windmills for bread. Wicker fish traps are super easy.
C: Military
Want stronger armor and shields? Try stretching animal skins over them for super-reinforced hardened leather. Still not good enough? Slap some mud on them to make reinforced plaster armor. Bows are the easiest weapon to pursue because wicker is flexible and bendy. Giant bows are called ballistae, and big springy rattan makes good catapults too. Remember those long hooked sticks we use for climbing? Strap a stone axehead on it and you have a basic halberd. Our tactics already have the beginnings of the phalanx which was what the Spartans used and later inspired the Romans to develop their tactics.
D:Culture:
Kids being a nuisance? Appoint competent nursery workers for the little ones. Build wicker jungle gyms and obstacle courses for the older ones. Appoint competent warriors and scouts to teach them fighting, climbing and stealth. Also appoint skilled craftsmen to teach their trades.
E:Religion
Anything about the web of life is wicker related because wicker is a web of fibers. We do need to learn about Jeremy’s new ideas tho.
F:Technology
Want pottery? Slap some mud on those baskets! Want aquaducts? Slap some mud on those tube-shaped baskets! Want metal? Guess where natural iron is found? That’s right, mudpits. Wicker>Pottery>Metal, easy segue.
G:Magic
Wicker-Blood-Drug Magic, Jeremy box (i.e. Wicker Ark of the Covenant), and a web of life religion that stresses a deep connection to nature? Everything is interconnected. Everything has a fiber that can be bent and woven for a new purpose. Plant fibers, Life fibers, heart strings, and more! Bend them to your will.

>>858916
H: Scouting
The Murlocks are the obstacle standing between us and a huge river that would allow us to make wicker boats and wicker fish traps which would give our civ a huge boost. However, they have a large population and seem militaristic. We need to learn everything we can about them so we can make good strategies. Scouts can improve their camouflage by putting foliage in their wicker armor and using their climbing skill and treehuts for spying.
I: Diplomacy
The best way to deal with the Murlocks is to befriend them and assimilate them into our civilization. They may outnumber us, but we have more food. Use the food for leverage by giving them gifts of food and establishing an embassy. This would allow us to gather intel from the inside and teach them that our cultures are interconnected in the web of life. Meanwhile we need to conceal our tech and population from them so that they cannot exploit our weaknesses.

The clock is ticking. Every year the murlocks focus on military and defense. If we want to succeed we need to deal with them before they turn the tables on us.

I'll read back through the thread but I'm pretty sure we got some walls yesterday. Not sure if they're wicker or palisade though.

I would definitely like to keep diplomacy on the menu every year until this murlock deal gets settled. And we should be able to bundle espionage in with it since its pretty easy for one person to serve as both spy and ambassador/missionary/trader.
I hope we can end up getting a yearly report on the murlocks just like we get for our people.
>>
>>859767
>>858471
>wooden wall and gate
yep its a palisade, should be sufficient to funnel them into our shield wall.
Since we have walls, shields and armor, we should probably focus more on offense though.

Since Diplomacy really needs to be our first choice,we can choose between Scouting and Military for our second.
>Scouting: Provides excellent intel when combined with diplomacy. Also start training ninjas and guerilla fighters
>Military: Focus on developing bows, halberds and tactics. We can save seige engines and better armor for later.

If this goes well and we don't have to push the big red button, we can do diplomacy and education reform next year to can free up that third action.

Finishing of the women and culture thing. No matriarchy but can add a little to their role.

The women of the tribe grew weary of the men doing most of the hard work and wanted to find a way other than weaving and crafting and teaching to help the village. So they started developing symbols of communication.

Basic literacy has begun it will take some time for an actual alphabet to take place. In three years time there will be a minor event where we vote upon the direction of alphabet (like pictograms or phonetic symbols or numbers).

It will take a while of persistent effort to get any form of patriarchy lol. I also will make it hard to do because I like the egalitarian style we have going.

>>860160
Yes. The developing culture and more effective teaching/childrearing methods, as well as the militia reducing their practice times in favour of other important actions has freed up the slot.

>>860159
the trained dissidents don't succeed very well. Murlocks are bemused at random circles being drawn everywhere.

-------------------------------------

the graffitee war has begun. Murlocks are winning it so far
Jeremy Box has figured out a way of making small glowing wicker boxes. He doesn't give them to people, but rather barters them. Generally the tribe happily gives assistence and equipment when needed, but these special boxes have some sort of value. People are quite defensive of anyone taking their own red boxes.
One of the hunters was wounded fighting off an especially big wolf. Hunters now go around in pairs and are more wary
Year 8
Population: 400 adults. 250 (>5 year olds)children. 250 toddlers(<3years), 100newborns 50 births p.a.
Resource and food stocks: Food storage is good for 8 years of complete famine, however food production is only mildly above consumption. and a lot of wood and wicker. As of yet there is no metal or stone besides the little tribe members have traded with the murlocks.
Culture: One Basket Many Strands. Mothers teach children what they know, while the fathers teach the fighting and hunting. Women are working on writing and some bother teaching their kids what they think they have learnt

Religion: Web of Life, Jeremy Box has his own minor branch.

Government: None; everyone does what they feel is needed to help the tribe flourish

Military (unblooded): 150 spearmen with shields with 4 years part-time training. 50 full time troops. Women with crowd control. Most of the spearmen also have axes as they are woodcutters generally. Some scouts.

Technology: basic tools and clothing. Wicker everything. Basic farming. Food storage. Wicker Architecture. Basic weaponry. hooks for climbing. Basic education. Starting literacy. Jungle gyms

Traditions: Basket weaving specialty, All men part of spear levy with the more skilled as permanent fighters, parents teaching kids together.

Magic: VERY VERY unreliable and seems to be blood and drugs powered wicker related.

Assets: basic tools and clothes, tribe population, some wood supplies. Several food fields. Wicker armour of good quality, lumber supply. Holy Site (made by Jeremy). Jeremy Box. Treehuts, a wooden wall and gate, LOTS of houses. Playgrounds for children

I know it sounds like magical realms but Assimilation is absolutely necessary for lasting peace. We can learn from history or we can repeat it, again.
Alliances come and go. Where ever two groups come into contact, there will arise a conflict of interest unless they unify under one banner or destroy each other. We may become good buddies for now, but in a few generations they're gonna feel taken advantage of when we move in on the river.

Plus, as I said yesterday, a naval superpower with semi-aquatic sailors would be nigh unstoppable.
Can't we just cum in the water, upstream of the females laying eggs? Make it look like an accident.

Our population pyramid is gonna be so weird. presently have 600 below the age of 8 years. Which means that our working population is smaller than the number of dependents.

In two years we will lose our third slot until our first baby boom reaches maturity.

Oh, and in 40 years there is gonna be a massive drop in our number of adults.

Gonna be interesting as fuck to see where it stablises if ever.

Also intermixing can cause side effect like other members of our tribe will kill the offspring etc.
>>
>>860522
Why do you think racial conflict will be a certainty? So far there hasn't been any indication that humans wouldn't accept hybrid offspring. If anything, the Morlochs seem more likely to kill the offspring, as they have been depicted as more violent.

If we select construction and make our houses wattle&daub we can find iron ore too.
Perhaps also send scouts to look for caves and use magic boxes for lanterns.

However, since we're already making stone-tipped spears, we shouldn't have any problem sustaining ourselves with stone tools for a while longer yet.

Since our map roll wasn't very good I did a not very good map.

as good as I could make in short time

The triangles are hills or mountains, the yellowish is plains/grassland, the green is forest, the purple star is murlock capital, the golden star is our capital, the blue is the river.

A scandal took the Tribe by storm. Racemixing! While trade between Humans and Murlocks had been going peacefully -aside from the graffiti war- there had not much beyond that. At least until a small degenerate group of humans decided that they wanted to masturbate into the river up-stream and see what happened. Turns out from some of the absolutely fucking groutesque offspring and the howls of horror and fury and frustration, that humans can impregnate Murlock spawn.

The more you know...

New Weaponry
The Maid and Bob Stabbie worked together on ideas that had been bouncing around in their heads for several years. Finally they managed to design and build the first bows and arrows! Turns out that bows require treated wood and specially worked with animal guts for the string. Other crafters started making bows and arrows now that there was a working build.

Some hunters realized the implications of having proper ranged weapons, and started trying to figure out how to use them properly. It would be a while before they did. Until they do there won't be any ability to build archer troops -no skill base to train others. Trial by error at the moment- and the bow and arrows are very crude and rudimentary, and will slowly be improved over the years.

Possible murlocks getting pissy.

our baby boomers turning nine years old.

smooth things over and continue trying to get them to buy our religion and gather inside information.

>Scouting

Flintknapping to replenish our stone tools.

Pottery -> Metal will take too many actions to bother with atm with things still looking unstable.

Meanwhile, perhaps we could automate something, or rely on our food storage for a few years so we can keep our third action. Maybe halt lumber production since we don't really use it for anything but firewood.

It has been 3 years since a big focus on writing had begun. The women are trying to figure out which of the three types should be focused on: Hieraglyphics, letters, or colours.(post a pic of the script from google images)

Jeremy Box's oldest child, Jerome Box, has successfully learnt how to make red glowing wicker strands. Nothing can be heard from the Box family that isn't pride in the talent passing on through the line. two "mages" in total now
The murlocks are having a harder time than usual due to the intermittent sub-locks. Chanting and screams seem to indicate that their civ has decided to cull the offspring, and the family if any resist Murmers from a few humans agree with the sentiment, and others laugh at murlocks killing each other.

---------------------------------
Rolf Godsend knew it was his calling to meet with the Murlocks and spread the following of The Web of Life. His discussion with Mahata; official diplomat to the Murlocks gave him a solid grounding of what to expect, especially backed up by scouts. As he was a skilled hunter, he was able to trade an especially glorious Stag for a few Red Boxes We need to get a name for these. These he brought with him to the Murlock tribe and taught them some basket weaving. There is now a small and growing Basket Weaving cult there.

Hill Dwarf settlement discovered.
While not as amazingly successful as Rolf's expedition, the scouts and mappers exploring the nearby hills and mountains were able to find many important resources, and in fact, another civilization.

They are on guard and suspicious, but were willing to hold their (98/100 roll) trigger finger happy fingers from their large siege catapults and crossbows.

There were a lot of dwarfs, and they even invited one of the scouts past the gates of the first outer wall. The scout decided to trade his only red box for a dozen metal-work tools, the dwarfs were so impressed by the implications of a lightsource that didn't require fuel and didn't heat.

Won't be as hard to get our third civ action back by obtaining proper tools

However, they did have the condition of trading involve a small party of heavily armed and armoured dwarfs follow the scouts back to visit our Tribe.

The rapidly falling apart original tools prompted a hurried effort to find and build replacements. Hard stones were found and attached to wood handles (sometimes wicker handles :^)). All this would have not been enough, if it weren't for the help of the recently traded dwarf tools.

With the good quality dwarf tools, the Tribe was able to make enough that it will cease to be an issue by the end of next year.

>>
>>861083
Good ideas but I think we have more pressing concerns right now. Definitely keeping that on the drawing board.
>>
Before things get too far along lets have a diplomatic strategy meeting. For the first order of business:

>Murlocks
We now know a few things about the murlocks, and maybe some more details on military and population growth once Dawn gets back.
We have a small group of religious converts, there is some sort of coup going on and our racemixing is slowing their population growth and causing lower morale.
We should focus on getting detailed information from the converts and spreading our influence.
We can also capitalize on this coup to seize dominance. The coup signifies a breakdown in their sense of community and dissatisfaction with their current social structure.
By continuing to secretly support this coup, we can position ourselves as the saviors of the murlocks. By offering them a sense of peace, purpose and stability in this time of unrest, we can cement their loyalty.
Once we have a big enough portion of their population loyal to us, we can research wicker boats and set up a base on the river. At that point we can deal with any resistance as needed and assimilate the loyal murlocks into our society by providing them with gainful employment and a sense of purpose in our navy and fisheries and also give them daily reminders that we saved them from their cruel and savage baby-killing regime.

>Dwarves
Since we’re not competing with them for territory yet and they seem more civilized, I think peaceful relations are possible. Plus, if they’re anything like conventional dwarves, their population growth is very slow. I suggest a trading partnership where we provide them with food in exchange for tools and weapons. I’m cautious of trading the lanterns in case they try to figure out how to make them. Magic is perhaps our greatest secret weapon.
With a few strategic marriages to prominent dwarves we could perhaps setup a mutual defense agreement and eventually assimilate them as a vassal state. They can mine all they want and we’ll support them and conquer the lands surrounding them.

Questions? Comments? I'll be back in a few hours. Hope things go well.

Diplomacy with the dwarfs seems really important
They have superior technology so our aim should be to advance faster than them
For this I would propose we add something to the web of life:
We are all connected in the web of life so we must make sure the web will be continuously improved so it won't break

Rolf's diplomancy improved a bit, he can now interact with a choice of either a bird or a deer sized herbivore species.

Construction of cages and traps for animals from modifications to the basket weaving designs were highly successful. Rolf found that his experience with preaching to murlocks worked with a very young eagle that wanted easy food from the caught birds. On the grass land a little south of the Tribe, a coral was built and grains were placed in baskets to lure the running four legged animals that grazed there.

Realizing that the dwarfs were way more advanced at tool crafting and metal working for the Tribe to catch up on their own research, diplomats and trade advisories decided to open up trade further, selling a third of the Red Boxes in exchange for being taught metallurgy.

We now know how to make iron and bronze, in two years we will have the knowledge spread throughout the village and our third action will be made available

you got yourself a hero. Nice work.

Yogi Trout was just a standard basket weaver. Or so he thought. Much to his surprise, his idea of making fish traps out of specially designed baskets placed in the many small rivers and streams near the village was a huge success.

Enough fish caught each year to supply 500 people with adequate food. New hero

Now for the farm expansion:

With the spread of fresh tools and the desire to increase food production to meet the rising population, the farmers expanded their farms. Unfortunately the lack of manpower and not yet enough fresh tools has meant that the new couple of fields are mostly under developed and has been left as grazing for the captured animals.

new grazing fields that will feed the animals

At the end of the year, and trading more of the glowing boxes, the dwarfs finally provided enough tools for everyone in the village.

We did find new plants, but they will be one of the minor events. Not enough of the new plants being grown to be used on a large scale just yet.
----------------------------------------
minor events of the year

Stabber and Maid have finally managed to improve upon their crude bow and arrow what with the new tools and materials and they are now capable of firing arrows 100 meters. Hunters have had long enough time to practice archery, and so about 60 tribes members could be made available if called to be archers
the first baby boomers are old enough to help out a little in work. Slightly less strain on the adults.
Jeremy Box and his son have started counting and classifying their constructions. Red Boxes have finally been talked about as official main trading currency. Box family demands more resources, as they aren't content with what they are getting out of their time and effort and blood.
One of the children pointed out that some crops had more grain on them than the others. They said that some of the seeds should be put in their little box for storage.

-------------------------
Stronger diplomatic relations was desired by the council and top tradespeople between the Wicker Tribe and Murlockville. Official trade was begun. Food sold to the murlocks in exchange for shells and other such commodities the Tribe did not have much access to. The murlocks were much less unhappy about the fappers in the water once a few of them were finally captured and executed, and no one in the Tribe had much of a problem with the loss of degenerates.

One Basket Many Strands had developed further due to the need for some sort of clearer hierarchy, especially since there were murlocks who were part of a similar cult.
This hierarchy was simply elevating the councilors and heroes and top artisans and crafters to official decision making. About 60 people are on the council. So it's still very egalitarian.

subterfuge time

Scouts visited the cult murlocks and got some of them to cause a distraction. Meanwhile Rolf and Mahatma did some preaching on how the non believers are a less trustworthy part of the Web of Life, and that those who believe in the Web should set themselves apart from their unbelieving murlockville members.

There was much displeasure and over the year were many arguments. The basket weaving cult has build houses on the opposite side of the river apparently.

Spend time developing training regimens, sparring, and military games for the youth. In a few years they will be ready to fight as needed. It will also establish the beginnings of a proper military culture. It will also provide us some proper archers a few years down the line as those guys take awhile to train up properly. Best start with them young. So have competitions among the kids for whose sneakiest(and thereby gain entrance to the scouts) and so on. Even those who don't show much talent for fighting can still learn how to take part in spear and shield wall before specializing in something else instead.

Such a thing will hold many benefits, enlarge our possible levies, and help prepare for a proper military culture to take root among the next generation.

F
Throwing weapons possible atadl or sling. Those who can't shoot worth a damn should at least know how to throw. Hell even women and children can learn how to use sling as weapons and to hunt.

G
We got blood and weaving magics relating to web of life right?

So how about we expand into nature magics? That should be close enough we wont be completely blind so hopefully it will work out.

I mean we experimented with mushrooms, collected new useful plants, and even started animal husbandry as well as fishing! All hail nature magic! All Hail Nature magic being the magical personification of the web of life!
>>
>>862241
The current plan we've been working on is trying to conquer the murlocks with diplomacy before they destroy us with their enormous population.

We need all hands on deck to win the diplomatic arms race.
Or military is serviceable for now and developing new weapons seems like an unnecessary tangent atm.

How about improved military training next turn?
>>
>>862226
>>862241
Both of you have great ideas, that will help our tribe, but alas we can go only one of you to pick.

Wickerman goals are better for the short term goals that we need to solve now. To be done with murlocks as peaceful and quick as possible before they become a threat.

While anon plan is more longterm maybe after we're done with the Murlocks we can go with your plan.

>>862183
So supporting Wickherman plan, and for the magic i'm liking anon magic choice better. And Rolf can help with animal husbandry with his special method he came up with With Rolf using his magic way to speak with animals he can subdue the animals with his magic dick.
>>
>>862324
agreed, I really like anon's creativity and magic ideas, but I'm just laser focused on short-term goals right now.

I'm hoping that if we get good rolls, we can do military next turn to buff-up our archers and start putting boats in the river.
>>
>>862302
The problem with relying upon diplomacy to deal with them is we need to expand the cult. If we say acquire magic that IS a personification of our beliefs just IMAGINE how persuasive that would be!

Ultimately the problem with the cult is its too damned weak. Either we improve our culture/religion so it can overpower the murloc one from within or we upgrade our military. Until then diplomacy can only do so much if we don't figure out a way to grow the cult.

My idea is in truth long term but if we can pull off the nature magic that would give us some truly insane pull that could easily divide the murlocs once we share the magic with their cult. It could easily cause a schism.

Either way they weaken while our military ideology upgrade starts bearing fruits and by the time the murlocs finish with their civil war we will have a powerful enough military to finish off whats left. Hell if we get lucky we could even reinforce the cultists with our military during the civil war.

I will admit the throwing weapons was to make other infantry forces more useful without the lengthy training that it takes to produce archers. That part can easily be delayed and its honestly not that critical at the moment.

I just wanted to cover both bases when it comes to dealing with the murlocs. The magic was meant for the more diplomatic approach while the military upgrade was quite a bit more obvious.
>>
>>862435
Alright here is what I'll do for you. Wherever if our Wickerman plan works or not this turn doesn't matter. Next turn I'll go with your plan.
>>
Recently a man name Cruz has been developing some strange ideas for the military, what if instead of fighting them, we sneak by them? Only time will tell if he is correct.
>>
>>862435
Sounds good. I had forgotten to consider the effect of magic in bolstering our religion.
My main reason for focusing on diplomacy was so we can put boats in the river without immediate backlash from a horde of aquatic warriors.

I'm trying to crunch the numbers right now, but I'm thinking that with one more good diplomacy/scouting roll, we should hold sway over enough of their population to make us evenly matched.
Then we can start using the river without protest and then turn our focus toward military and magic so we can support our murlock allies in case of war.

Rolf finally fucked up

In his arrogance Rolf believed that he could convince the murlocks to do whatever he wanted them to. The basket weaving cultists now separatists yelled and chased the diplomatic envoys away the moment Rolf mentioned Murlocks attacking their kin. It would take many years before relations would thaw.

Magic improved

The Box family's art of making glowing red boxes via some sort of enchantment of blood and wicker had been going on for over a decade. Throughout that time there had been attempts to do other things with magic. If blood and nature were needed, then why not try out other blood than the Box mages? So, animals and plants were messed around with.

Eventually, a break-through was made: animal bones could be treated with a substance that would cause them to glow slightly and be consistently produce small warmth.

Warm glowy bones can be made

Didn't we get a +15 tween bonus last time?
>>
>>863776
Anyway, I'll go ahead and vote.

>Diplomacy (Dwarves) Maha & Rolf Bonus!
Trade food for metal weapons/armor

>Husbandry (Horses) Rolf bonus!
Keep working to domesticate horses

>Tech (wheels) Wicker Bonus!
Yogi Trout was transporting some big fish traps with wicker rollers one day when they got stuck in the mud. After digging them out and scraping the mud off, he noticed that some of the mud got stuck and hardened between the cracks in the wicker and made the rollers smoother and more durable.

Lets give the tween bonus to our lowest roll.

Next turn I'll try to address military and religion.

Rolf and Mahatama headed the first BIG trade expedition to the Hill Dwarfs. They carried a year's storage of food, and intended to trade all this for dwarf forged weapons and armour that they had seen the dwarf guards wearing.

The dwarfs were extremely happy to see the humans. Apparently there had been a significant deficiency in food production caused by the colder weather in the hills and the focus the Hold had with digging deep and metal working. they gladly traded for food. About 50 simple chain mail vests, and short swords, and even about 10 helmets were sold for food. On top of that, a human-weight of pig iron was sold in exchange for another few little glowy boxes.

"These glowin' boxes ur amazin'. absolutely stoat. they make it sae much easier an' safer tae mine. we dornt e'en need tae make torches huir uv a aft. they also seem tae gonnae-no anythin' frae rottin' when inside. perfect."

Hieroglyphics has started being commonly taught to children by their mothers. One of the teenagers had taken an interest immediately and has decided to become something of a librarian or historian. He collates any writings and places them in the Red Temple.

'Tangle' has managed to get labeled a very naughty young man, as he sort of um, sometimes uses his developing vine powers to capture cute girls. For practice, not to you know, play with... responding to this is a free action.

They call Rolf the horse whisperer. All the time spend with the mares, it seem to be they trust him and could "talk" to him. The tribe is curious how this one horse, that was a way with words, can lead the horses in perfect form with just a few muttering of words.

They are starting to call him a "druid", with a eagle on his shoulder he is highly respected in the clan for being able to domesticate animals with ease not just that but he was a way with words that people soon fall in love with. This will surly help the clan through rough times.

Rolf the horse whisperer >>864612 has managed to improve upon the domestication of the horse herd. They allow him and Tangle and some of the other teenagers to play with them and ride. It's difficult without any seat or reins, but there is a lot of progress.

There has also been lots of foals being born -20 foals gained- who are much more friendly and tame.

>>864626
canon anyone who wants to have their own line can join discord to pick some magic idea that I will then use as a point of reference when we do magic rolls for finding new magic, or getting new mages.. Very very subtle but potential there.

Tech gained! (wicker wagons/carts/chariots)
While Yogi was rolling some baskets around, some kids climbed on top of them. This gave him the idea to attach wheels to specially made riding-baskets that can be pulled around.

As of yet, this discovery is only being used for movement of goods around the village, and aiding farming. A few people have built chariots that can be pulled by horses, but that will take a bit of training and sophistication/improving the design of chariot for efficiency.

The ground on the plains is a bit bumpy, but wheels aren't too bad on it.

The professional troops were extremely delighted to have new gear and instantly started trying it out. Unfortunately they hadn't ever used swords before - so used to spears and shields - and the iron armour was rather heavy and clunky. It will take a few years for them to get used to it. However, upon experimentation with a couple of captured murlock vandalizers, the iron swords are highly effective.

Jeb! joined the scouts and his weak powers helped out the sneaking and finding of the Big Wolf Pack. Via a combination of clever tree top travel (climbing hooks) and the long practice that the scouts had had, the position of the Pack's new home was found without alarming them.

It was about an hour away from the hunter's tree huts, and in a small hillock that had a few caves.

Now that the threat has been found, the Tribe guard and professional soldiers trained heavily in preparation. Unfortunately they had never gone out to fight wolves and didn't really know what to expect. So they were unable to make much progress. At least some of the lack of practice was dealt with. The boomers have grown up to be adults and their war games and training has meant that they are capable of fighting at some level.

Operation Take Down

The army moved out in three units. the heavy infantry/professionals in one group, the teenagers in another, and the part-timer spearmen in the other.

Upon the army moving in from all sides, the Wolves started growling and attacked! There are more wolves than previously expected (150).

Fortunately their efforts were upon the heavily armoured professionals, and were only able to get a couple of kills, at the expense of losing 30. Many decided to change to softer targets.

25 casualties for our part-timers, killing 4 wolves.

79 wolves left. 290 humans available.

The hundred casualties were a shock to the system of the Tribe's army, but did not daunt them. They would not falter. These wolves were not intelligent. The kills and injuries were just from surprise and lack of experience.

Now the measure of the Wolves had been taken. And a great and terrible toll upon them would be visited for their crimes.

The youth wielded their spears with skill and wounded or killed 20 wolves.

The Professionals did their job too and cut a bunch of wolves up.

The part times did amazingly.

But there was one man who took the trophy for most kills!

Yogi Trout on a RAMPAAAGE MONSTER KILL!

A sun-tanned man wearing a wicker hat, and a glowing little box around his neck as a pendant glared at the big wolves who threatened to mess with his fishing traps. Unlike the other part-time soldiers, he wielded a personally crafted and designed trident. He was armed in elaborate wicker weaved as tight and natural as fish scales, in a very clever and advanced design. A large shield with an emblem of a fish in white in his left hand.

And.. with a great big bellow he shouted:

"You, one's old bean, wolves have noh place here! mustah the balderdash awah mwah mwah sweetie one's fish. for your crimes against one's old beans you, one's old bean, will all end it all! Don't you know?"

Wolves leaped at him. STAB, a prong in the eye, heart and stomach. Dead.

In slow motion, one had got behind him. turn, duck. Jab. Kill

Shield bash another into a spearman's spear. Swing and stab...

Fifteen minutes later, a tired and exhausted but triumphant Yogi Trout stood over 20 wolves. He didn't know how he killed them all. But he had

A large altar made from rocks was gathered and put on the hill. The hill has been called "Helgen" and the names of the dead were carved onto the rock face in memory of their sacrifice.

Not only that, but one of the caves has been made into a crypt that would be named VolfHalla, and the dead were laid to rest after being prepared for burial. The opening was blocked by a stone door with some runes on it, with the help of a few dwarfs who came to help and honour the dead too (dwarfs have scouts and heard the clash of battle and dropped by).

A funeral song was given in tribute to the dead.

As the army cleared out all the caves, a black sooty stone was found, and some shiny ore was too. There are lots of caves, not all of them connected. No bears, but there are some burrowing and cave dwelling creatures that are harmless.

Puppies found that Rolf has taken under his wing.

A permanent house has been built and is manned. This area would make a great second holding, maybe a proper fortress in time.

Rolf Godsent had taken Tangle under his wing to be both an apprentice and a trainer for Rolf. Over the few years they worked together they shared some skills and got better at magic.

Rolf's life sense and animal speak helped him figure out how to replicate some of what Tangle could do years ago. He can make tangle vines and speed up nature growth, but needs to have lots of nature around for it to do much.

Tangle can now use his nature magic aggressively and to strangle enemies.

Jeb! the illusion guy has been given assistance and practice working on his method. He's improving.

Formations learnt, archery unit built

The veterans had much to train the baby boomers and knew that an official archer unit was needed.

They taught them all they knew about warfare -though most of the younger ones fought against the wolves too - and a turtle formation, hoplite formation, and an archery unit has been built.

There will be 100 professionals with the rest be trained until they can fight well. But it would be too expensive to have all the men be full time troops, as extra food is needed to trade with the dwarfs for gear.

Army is now the 50 sword and board vets, 50 fulltime young hoplites, and they all have training in archery and being fairly alright rangers. All men and women are able to fight using spears or bows if needed.

One night there had been a scare with a fire that burnt down a house. Because of that, it was decided that every building would be fireproofed and strengthened. Much less danger now, and not only that, but houses would be much easier to lock and defend from if enemy got passed the fortifications.

The roaming centaurs that had been seen by our scouts were not very friendly.

A sample of what happened when we tried to send an envoy to them with an honour guard:

"Goh 'wey ouwda daht two legged lyin' deceitful pieces av shoite! goh 'wey ouwda daht an' stop tryin' ter 'ames wi' us! we are de proud centaurs av de steppes av thunder 'oof an' we 'ill feckin gut yer if yer cum close!
"
"Looks like there may be another genocide in order," said one of the scouts who was a vet from the Volfening.

Secondshire, a young man who had joined the scouts the moment he could, was very helpful to the scouting expedition. His ability to sense metals and pitch were what made all the difference in surveying and mapping out areas for exploitation in the future.

It had been a while since food production had been advanced significantly. What with the new manpower from the boomers, there were now finally enough workers to plow the extra fields and milk all the domesticated animals. The fruit trees that had been planted over a decade ago were finally pumping out fruit at a good rate, and so the food industry went through a boom.

800 more food produced(about 2 years food dwarfs needed.)

Mare milk and fruit now available to trade and use to make other things.

I will be working on a mupdate.

Learn about Jeremy’s ideas, enhance the message of our murlock missionaries and strengthen our ties to the cult.

After watching Rolf ride on the backs of his horses, Yogi decided to give it a try. After falling on his butt one too many times, he decided to make a wicker harness that he could hold onto. Much better.
>>
>>866003
After having his ass be sore from riding his mare. He thought to go help make stabbles with Yogi he know how to keep the horses calm and know how the back is shape to help make the stabble.

As as diplomacy he want to make amand to rhe ill cause he cause with the murlock.

He also have dreams of breeding with the horse people. He start to call Centaurs, it will be a two in one deal he thinks. Horse pussy, human upper body. The best of both worlds.

Also supporting this.

More or less, what Yogi said.
Strengthening Bonds with Fish People is a necessity.

And Learning to ride those horses could be a nice asset.

Our military is in peak condition. Every adult can fight quite well. Literally no reason to push for it more, our population isn't large enough for it to be worth it.

And bloodied tag is because battle experience is crucial for soldiers.

Though working on our military further will make our traditions more badass. All you guys choice.

Well we didn't need to improve our relations with the murlocks anyway right?

And we didn't really want to learn about those cool Box ideas, or enhance our message to the murlock missionaries. did we?

At least we got some really good saddles and some working reins for our horses so we got horsemen! (no stirrups tho)
>>
After the previous massive blunder with the murlocks when the Tribe tried to get the basket weaving cult to war with their fellow 'locks, (after they had already chosen to separate into two different independent settlements), there had been a need for spending years without official envoys outside of a little trading.

It was thought to be a good time to go and talk to them again, but alas. The human envoys failed rather badly.

"We aint your servants ter do wif wot ya want us ter do! we 're part of the mother's pearly gate weave, but we daan't 'ave ter consider ya 'umans superior! we 're our Jack Jones tribe and we will do things our way! I say it's time our teen guys started fapping upstream.
Make it a tradition for the boys and genocide murlocks this way.

Send a few of the kids talented at crafting to the dwarves as workers and apprentices.
Bring a bit of glowing wicket and food as gifts.

Try some research into teaching magic so it isn't confined to bloodlines.
>>
Jeremy Box flies into a fucking rage when other tribe members ask him about what he's been planning and cooking up. He screams about no one else being given pendants from now on

No extra Red Boxes being traded by Jeremy to the tribe, for a couple of years

On a lighter, and much more positive note, Rolf and Yogi Trout had success.

Horses were hard and uncomfortable to ride bareback. Barely usable to help scouting, or work or riding for combat. Yogi had the bright idea of building a wicker seat that was attached to the horses body in a comfortable fashion. It was very successful, and he managed to figure out how to attach ropes to the horses head by putting a bit in the mouth, allowing easy steering.

This now allowed scouts to ride on horses, and some vets had instantly started messing around with trying to use them for combat. It would take a concerted effort for cavalry to be a thing though.

Yeah, Probably.

>Tech (Wicker Seige Engines)
With some helpful tips from the dwarves, Yogi was able to make catapults and ballistae similar to theirs that employed the light-weight and flexible nature of wicker into their design. And put wheels on them.

> Construction: (W A L L) With the Tensions growing between the Humans and Fish People, Many Citizens have taken it upon themselves to reinforce the wooden wall with Wicker, Around the original wood.
This wall will be finished off with Hardening Mud, and while the mud Hardens, Pointy rocks placed inside the mud, Hardens around them.. Boom.

>Diplomacy: We'll go to the Dwarfs, and agree to a Mural defense Treaty. Essentially, if someone were to attack Them, we would go to help. Vice Versa would apply.

Imma go out for a couple of hours.
If I miss next turn, my suggestion is:

>Construction
Try this wall/tower thing again, preferably if we can leave the old wall standing and build a concentric wall around it.

>Military
Train with cavalry, artillery, Treetop Snipers and battle-wolves.

>Magic
Try to make tanglevine an area-of-effect, summon vine catapults or tanglevine bombs. Work on illusion magic.

At some point we need to try building a dam upstream of the murlocks
>>
>>866969
In regards to murloc killing we could look into water soluble toxins. Since they are amphibians they have to go into the water frequently so if it can absorb through their water permeable skin, they'll die or at least be weakened. Not to mention the damage to the surrounding area; fish and such would die quite quickly or become poisonous from the built up of it in their bodies.
>>
>>867031
We don't want any poison being left over if we decide to take over the river, so I disagree with the poisoning plan
>>
>>866076
If we have to name a hero, how about Rick?
A homeless man that is normally looked down on by everyone else in the city. He lives in a dirty hovel on the fringes of the town that very few know about, in his primitive work shop he accidentally made a liquid from berries and leaves that makes a person very disoriented and goofy if they drink enough.
>And he also unepexictly set on of his cats on fire when he threw a clay jar at his cat, then the car trying to run away walked near a lit fire.
>>
Alric Secondshire's keen eye combined with the expert crafters construction of war engines made it possible to replicate some of the hill dwarf defenses.

Light ballista and catapults made from wicker and with wheels on them are made! There as of yet is no place to put them on the palisade walls, but the handful of them have been set up in positions within the village walls, to be deployed or used in defense in the future.

What with human-murlock relations frosting and fears of attack from the stinky hoards, there needed to be improved defenses. Well. It failed. Miserably. The village walls have collapsed and a few died from the wood falling on them.

Now that defenses were ruined, a desperate rush to make a Mutual Defense Pact with the Hill Dwarfs was pushed for. Rolf, Mahatama and the trade experts brought all spare trade goods to seal the alliance.

Hill Dwarf - Human Alliance Pact has been forged Both sides will be called to help each other when requested.

Not the worst.
>>
>>867154
We could probably get away with something like that since it would just flow downstream and get diluted, but what he's describing seems way too dedly.

>Rotenone is a chemical that fish and wildlife agencies use to reduce fish population numbers.
>People catch fish by extracting rotenone from plants and releasing it into water. Poisoned fish come to the surface and are easily caught. This method was first practiced by various indigenous tribes who smashed the roots. Fish caught this way can be eaten because rotenone is very poorly absorbed by the gastrointestinal tract of humans, whereas it is lethal to fish because it readily enters the blood stream of the fish through the gills.

Not sure what category that would fall under (Tech-Poison?) We should discuss it again when more people get here and maybe try it in the next couple of turns.

Palisade and gate was built again, a bit better than the first one due to more manpower and tech

Cavalry training has started, but will take several years before we have a cav unit of 20 with light armour. Artillery training has begun. Archers are being trained to fire from trees to low effect. Rolf has started training the pups to fight but they don't like fighting they just want to play. And eat.

Magic? Tanglevine experiments fail miserably, and something has happened to Tangle. He can't control is magic powers anymore and they happen randomly and sporadically and he needs to live out in the whopps now to stop himself from killing his fellow humans. Our illusion mage has ran off with his family to live among the dwarfs now and will be back in 10 years

As Yogi was checking one of his fishtraps, he noticed that the fish where all dead. Perplexed, he looked around and found a plant had fallen in the water and was staining the water around the trap. He brought this plant to Rick, who went looking for more of these plants. After gathering several, he dried the leaves and put them in a pool of fish. Lo and behold, the fish began struggling and floated to the surface. Rick and Yogi wondered what would happen if this was applied on a larger scale..

Seeing the general success of Calvary, We'll try to develop armor made of wicker, exclusively for Horses and Wolves. Maybe put some spikes on the front, incase of direct confrontation.

Rick and Yogi wondered what would happen if this was applied on a larger scale.

Yogi also had a hand in inventing boats out of wicker. These will be helpful traveling along the small rivers, and when got access to the giant murlock river they will be great use

What no. Your roll was just to check what gender and if a genius. Your kid is safe. Gene stock hasn't had any chance of being fucked up.

the only family with any bad genes are the parkinson senpai (That One Guy).

Cavalry and Wolf training under the lead of Rolf Godsent progresses okay. We don't have specialised horses for war, but something of a Hussar light cav unit is formed.

the wolf pups have grown up and are having puppies of their own. Some of which are willing to fight. They will be guard hunting dogs until there are more of them.

Just to make it clear. NO deaths in child birth. Fuck having to calculate that shit.

>Construction
Improve walls and add towers

>Magic
Experiment with bones, baskets and what Rolf managed to learn from Tangle.
On high roll, Tangle gets better and comes home with new and improved stuff.

>Scouting
Try putting a boat or two in the river (out of murlock zone preferably) and see what we can see. Carry a big basket of fish poison just in case.

Using stone imported from Dwarfhome, the builders were able to build a new outer wall and some towers that were big enough to fit the siege equipment.

The warm glowy bones are now being used to help keep people warm when there is winter -though the land is very temperate and rarely snows heavily. The red baskets can be used as extremely effective fuel that will burn hot and long. However Jeremy Box doesn't like people burning them, and the boxes are not very common.

River exploration has begun in earnest and needs to be named. A tribe of elves have been found to the west of the basket-murlocks and they are hippies living in treehuts.

Ever since Albert was a kid, he could always have been called resourceful. He would usually create elaborate toys with sticks, rocks, and a few basic products. It only made sense that he pursued a career with the dwarves and their mining enterprise. He started out as a mere apprentice, but there was a fire in his eyes, and an entire world full of resources to plunder and make amazing things from.

Rolf Godsend was just a standard berry picker. Or so he thought. Much to his surprise, while with Maha in her mission to the Murlock he was able to smooth things out after a misunderstanding happened. From that day on he knew he had a way with words. A skill he never knew just picking berries. But that not all he alway loved nature one of the reason why he picked berries. He just never though nature will love him back until he meet up with Rosie the Mare and she been his mate since the first day they met.
