“What the heck is this?”

You and your crew stand outside the tank hangar to see the Polish students setting up a stand with almost an entire kitchen. Serafina smiles. “Me and my girls are busy raising money for the Tankery team!” She plants a hand on her chest, grinning. “We're going to be cooking breakfasts, lunches, and dinners for most of the day before practice.”

“How much are you charging?” asks Ingrid.

“50 dollars a meal!”

“What?” Serafina blinks.

“That's kind of expensive, don't you think?” you say.

“It is, but we have to raise money quickly no? If 100 people were to eat meals here that'd be... 5,000 dollars easily!” she says. Right, right. Her logic is sound. Her wisdom is not.

“I don't think people are going to pay 50 dollars for a single meal,” you explain. “Maybe you should change the price, Serafina.” You look at the sign. “And also write the signs and stuff in English so people can understand.”

“Aw.” Serafina mopes a bit. “But we worked so hard.”

Josephina smiles. “Cheer up, Serafina. You're trying.”

“Trying is second to winning!” Serafina shouts. “Now get out of here! Spadaj! Spadaj! Go! I gotta prepare this stuff!” With that, you step back inside the Tank Hangar with your crew. The other teams were hard at working trying to figure out various ways to raise funds and in the meantime, Oliver was in the shop being converted up into a Cromwell VII LT.

“Man, I've never seen the Tankery team be so...” Ingrid folds her arms. “Industrious.”

“They know what's at stake,” you say. You nudge Ingrid, then point to the Motorcycle Club especially. “Griselda told them earlier this morning, if they couldn't pay for repairs, they'd have to scrap Cub and sell him off for spare parts.” The Motorcycle Club were busy at work consulting their laptops, no longer with their characteristic bikes either. “It's harsh but it got them moving for sure.”

“What are you going to do today then?” asks Stack.

I'm not against helping out at all, but I feel like we should try to mix helping out and working. We could/should work 2 days this week and take three vacation days. At least, that's my thought on this.

Then, during the evening, we do some more planning and organizing for creating memorabilia and planning a fundraiser festival for Friday and maybe finding another sponsor or two.

“Well, well!” Caldwell greets you and Denise as you step back into the office. “Look who finally decided to show up to work!”

Yes, yes, let her have her day. You turn your chair around and find a dead pigeon in it. Ugh. You turn around to see Admiral Nimitz staring at you from one of the bookshelves. “Thank you, Admiral.” You pick up the dead bird carcass, then toss it across the room and onto Caldwell's desk.

“Yeaugh! Eugh!” Caldwell immediately discards the corpse into the trash.

For now, you decide that work will take priority. The team seems to have everything in order. Though you do wonder how practice is going to go now that most of the tanks are under for repairs. It's actually pretty worrying. If you can't pay the costs in time, who knows what'll happen to the tanks. Everyone seems so attached to them.

Heck, you can't imagine what you'd do if Oliver were to go. You thought starting out you'd have to switch between tanks, but now? You can't imagine using anything else.

You look around. Tessa and Athena haven't shown up yet. Hilda is still helping Griselda with her finances. You receive a phone call then and there. “Zumwalt.” You pick it up.

“It's Captain Spruance.” The Captain! “Listen up, Ellie. We've got some problems in the Navigation Department regarding our future course. Apparently, some of our older instruments are going bad and need to be fixed. I need someone down there to help oversee some of the repairs.”

>>
>>875952
That works for me. We can try to figure out if we can handle it, but also rely on our subordinates to help if they are able.

Maybe she's taking a vacation day? Griselda was suspiciously quiet about who else was visiting her.
>>
>>875887

Not like it matters now.
>>
>>875947
>>875952
This. Oh, and >>875955 too
>>
>>875964
I was figuring that practice would be happening and we wouldn't have as much time to do as much fundraising. End of the day, we can evaluate this issue a bit more later when we hear what our current financial stance is with the 1.7 million added. We don't know what the other girls have added to the coffers yesterday.

The other issue is we could probably use a bit of extra CP for this upcoming match. So even getting over 30 is a good thing.

You know Perrine is going to put us through our paces. So we need some sharpness, any way we can.

It's a difficult balance. And I understand both issues are in play. So I just want to do a little bit to get us in better shape. We won't be at 60 this time, so we'll have to do whatever is possible to ensure financial and tactical stability. We're half way there just from the treasure alone. And I'm going to be happy just getting over 30 points through today's work. Tomorrow is our attempts to shave our remaining debt in half again.
>>
>>876007
One, we don't know our financial situation
Two, we don't know if we are fighting Perrine. German never tells us much in regard to this until a day or two before the actual match.

And frankly command points mean little if we're heavily in debt, that is like putting the cart before the horse
>>
>>876110
Counter points

>One
We know we were going to need 3.2 Million. We have reduced that to 1.5 before sponsorships, Hilda's magic, and any current contributions from our team. If we really wish to be safe for a bit, I would assume the goal is to get 250-500k above debt level.

>Two
If I recall correctly, J.Walker Christie is confirmed our opponent as this is the last team we need to fight. They'll be fighting us to avoid going to a wildcard match. You better believe that Perrine is going to lead the charge to try and secure 1st in the division. She's not going to just drop points in critical matches.

I believe that we will get out of debt this week, we still have many ideas that we can work on. And Wednesday and Friday are practically guarantees for days off. At the very least I will be voting for them.

Lets see what our team mates do before we panic too far.
>>
>>876143
Your next opponent is actually Glenn Curtiss School of Engineering and Technology.

Sorry for the delay, had to duck out to build a christmas tree, will write the update.
>>
>>876149
Very well, I stand corrected. I had assumed that we were much closer to the end of the season and that we were at a season ending match against our divisional rival for playoff position. Clearly I have misinterpreted where we stand and how far we've progressed this season.

With that in mind, I guess I have erred in judgement. Oh well, we'll be dealing with debt for the next little bit.
>>
>>876166
To be fair, you aren't that wrong. The next match AFTER the next match is actually Christie. That is the end of the divisional tournaments, and then to the All-Star Game, then the FleetFest interleague games.
>>
>>876143
Apparently german made a typo on that and we don't know exactly how much we owe right now.

>>876149
Also your second point is debunked with this and even if gain some point we could as very well gone to work on Thursday or Friday. After ensuring we have finished off the debt instead of working off the assumption of 'oh we could finish this later'

Because just because you would vote to help later doesn't mean other Anons would.
>>

You put in a call to Athena to have her meet you at one of the Navigation stations, where there you'll be overseeing and possibly having to repair some of the navigation instruments yourself. The Navigation Room was a very large room filled with apparently perpetually overworked, tired, and grumpy navigators. “Afternoon, Lieutenant Commander!” The Station Chief salutes you, bags underneath her incredibly sleepy eyes. “It's nice to see you. Can I interest you in some coffee, Red Bull, Monster energy?”

You shake your head. “I'm fine. I'm wide awake.”

“Oh. That's nice,” she mutters. “Yeah, we're having some engies repair some of our systems. We had a crash about a week ago, wiped some of our nav data, bricked a lot of our hard drives. Plus, the rainstorm knocked out some of our more primitive forms of navigation as well.”

“You all look pretty overworked,” you say.

“Eh, this is normal,” she says. “See, here in Navigations, we have dozens of systems of redundancies that need to be manned. Because what we have here in an Academyship is essentially a floating brick the size of a small island. And if we mess up our navigations in any way, any way at all, we could take out a coastal city by mistake. We navigate through satellite imagery, we navigate through dead reckoning, navigate with the help of our US Navy escorts, we navigate through eyeball reckoning, we calculate ahead of time each and every vector and sector that the Academyship may need to cross, plan ahead of time so that we don't accidentally crush an island in our way. Hell, during the Recession a decade or so back, they cut our power for a couple of days, we had to navigate through star charts.”

“I see.” You fold your arms. “What exactly is broken then?”

“Our rangefinding equipment. We use those to calculate distance between us and any solid bodies on the horizon.” She motions you around some of the consoles, and there you see a pair of engineers working on fixing a large rangefinding scope, as well attempting to recalibrate the computer that apparently feeds its data into. “Make no mistake, the rangefinder is really important, help us second guess things.”

“Alright. Need any help?” you ask.

“We could use more coffee,” she says.

“Anything other than that?”

“Can't really think of anything,” she says. “Though, I will say, our equipment is really, really, old at this point.” She points to the rangefinder. “That rangefinder is actually as old as the ship. I'm surprised it still works.”

Old gear is only useful if it is reliable beyond reason, or stupid easy to repair.

This seems to be neither.

You decide that the best course of action to avert more breakdowns like this is to modernize the equipment. You contacted the Logistics department to order more modern rangefinders for Navigations, along with ordering some more computers and equipment as well. “What's that?” you ask.

“It's a sextant,” says the Chief Navigator.

“Yeah, we'll get you a new one.” You continue talking on the phone. “So, can you calculate the cost of that?”

The Quartermaster on the other line says, “Oh yeah, yeah. We can probably slot the modernization into this quarter's expenses. It'll be a couple of tens of thousands, about 50,000 max to modernize all Navigation equipment. The big thing is replacing the data systems and giving them a bit more processing power. The big thing is having to wait on computers to calculate data.”

“Yeah,” says one of the Navigators. She points to one of the computers, which is clearly from 1960, complete with a spinning wheel inside of it. “This thing is older than I am and calculates time-distance mathematics and velocity of the ship compared to distance traveled like old people fuck.”

“But can we do it?” you ask.

“Sure. I'll run it by Captain Spruance later today, Commander.”

“Thank you.” With that, Athena arrives. “Athena, good to see you.”

“What's the word?” she asks.

“Fixing a rangefinder,” you explain. “Plus the computers. They crashed a week or two ago, they need to be recalibrated, plus the rangefinder is busted.” She nods, placing down her toolkit.

“Alright, alright.” Athena gets hard to work, with the engineers step to the side and letting her do it.

Athena freezes at your question, wrench still in play and her hand still on the scope. “Uh...” She turns to you. “Well, yeah. I did, actually.” She shrugs. “I mean, injuries don't happen too often in Tankery these days. I remember my Mom telling back then, you could expect to lose a fingernail or a get a nasty shiner if you weren't expecting it. But... Yeah.”

“Sorry, if that seems-”

“No, no, it's alright,” says Athena. “I mean. We talked a little bit, me, her, Tessa too. Tessa was there. Um.” She leans against the console, trying to find words for it. “We talked about tanks for a little bit. Griselda had a lot of good things to say about the team really, all the things they do. Definitely had a lot to say about you and Iris.” You smile a bit. “Yeah, we just talked.”

“Did you make up?” you ask.

“I don't know.” Athena shrugs. “Who knows. It's uh... it's not really something you need to worry about anyway.” She starts to go back to repairing the rangefinder. “And really, Ellie. You should be worrying more about how you're going to fix that debt the team is in,” she says. “It's a shame Griselda never asks for help from anybody, she has to be forced to do it. It used to be back in Middle School, she'd ask me for help all the time with math problems, now it's like... you really gotta tie her down to her bed just to help her with something.”

“Well, she trusts me to help her at least, same with Iris.”

She smirks a bit. “She must really value you then. Try not to squander that.”

With that, the rangefinder and the computers are fixed in relatively good order. You check your watch. Today went by pretty quickly.

The two of them look at each other, then Tessa smiles. “I guess we can.” Awesome! “It'll be nice to see Griselda again anyway.” You smile, then hurry up and mount yourself on the Kettenkrad. Tessa and Athena find some places as well on it, then you're quickly off to the races.

“Serafina.” You find her and the Poles moping on the counter at their stand. Right next to it is Jeep Jockey, chomping down on some sausages and with what appear to be pierogi as well. “Something wrong?” you ask.

“We only made 200 dollars,” she says. “I don't get it! Our food's good! Why aren't more people buying?”

“I'm gonna ask that question too, this food's great!” says Jeep Jockey. “You mind if I buy another plate?”

“Sure. I GUESS.” Serafina opens the register for him. Jeep Jockey offers a debit card to her, which she casually swipes on the register before handing back. Her gunner very angrily drops another plate of sausage and pierogi with smoked cheese for him.

“Awesome!”

“I never figured you for Polish food, Jeep Jockey,” you say.

He shrugs with a very healthy smile on his face. “I'm a growing boy, I gotta eat. Doesn't matter what I eat. Just as long as its edible.”

Serafina turns her head to you. “He's already had four plates.” You giggle a little, stepping in. Sorry, Serafina. With that, you see everyone consulting tank manuals and getting limbered up for today's practice. Your own crew was busy overseeing the conversion of Oliver from a Cromwell III to a Cromwell VII LT. Griselda was elsewhere for now it seems. You also see another girl taking photos around the hangar at all tanks, new girl?

“Hey!” You walk up to her. She yelps, turning to you. She wears what appears to be an LGA uniform it seems. “You new here?”

“Uh...” She blinks. “Yeah! Yeah, I'm new, uh...” She grins sheepishly. “I uh... I came in with uh... Janey!”

“Oh, Jane?” you ask. She nods violently. “Well, alright then. You another member of the Light Music Club!”

“Sure, sure. But they're all full so, I was just scanning around looking for a crew, I hear you're understrengthed some. I was gonna go find them and ask to join,” she says. You nod.

You grab her shoulder, stopping her from stepping away. “The Light Music Club isn't full though.” She turns her head around, surprised. “Who are you really?”

“Um. M-my name is uh... My name is... Heidi.” She twiddles her fingers a little. “I'm a new girl here. I'm a freshman.” You squint, looking at her up and down. She's pretty small, yeah, she could be a freshman. OR SHE COULD BE A FILTHY SPY. “I- I'm sorry, I'm just- it's... it's nerves. I'm not really used to being around tanks. Or people for that matter. “However.” She stops. “Carver!” You call Carver away from Janus the Sherman. She steps up to you, saluting you. “Carver, this is Heidi. In case the LMC rejects her, I want you to take care of Heidi and help her around. You two are new enough around here after all.”

“Oh. Sure, I can do that,” says Carver. “By the way, Ellie. Great news!” She smiles. “I was able to enlist a group of girls to be part of my crew!”

“Really?” you ask. “Are they here?”

“... well, not today,” she mutters. “But next practice, they will be! So look forward to that, okay!?”

You grin. “Okay. I will.” She grins back, then looks to a very nervous Heidi.

“Come on, I'll show you around.” Carver takes Heidi's hand, dragging her away. Hm, weird. You look over to see Griselda however walking towards you.

“Griselda!” You come up to her. Tessa and Athena, who had wandered off, are now surprised to see her out of bed and walking around. “Griselda, you're up and about! Shouldn't you be resting-”

She shakes you off. “I'm not dying, Ellie. I can do practice just fine. Now listen, Miss McPherson and the Roberts sisters are around. I'll be overseeing training as usual. But because our tanks are all in the midst of being repaired right now, I don't think we can take them out today. Plus... I think the crew could use a bit of a break. So, we'll just be doing lecture in the classroom.”

You nod, looking around the hangar again. Then you see someone at the hangar doors. It's a girl.

> “Uh. I'll be right back. I'll be with you later, okay?” Seek out Arisu Shimada.

“I'll be right back,” you say. “Don't worry. Just start practice without me, alright?” Griselda tilts her head curiously, then nods. With that, you hurry and run out the hangar. Where is she? You find her standing on the street corner. She turns to see you, then walks out of view around the corner of another building. Oh no you don't! You sprint after her. She's not going to act like a scary spook today!

You turn the corner, only to find a crate and a barrel in the dead end alley. What the-

“Hello.” You scream, turning around to see her standing behind you.

“A-... Arisu.” You narrow your eyes. “Wh-...” She stands there, expressionless, looking at you. “Okay, listen. Arisu, I'm going to be honest. This spook stuff needs to stop. You're going to make me look like I'm nuts.”

“That does not matter now,” she says. “How soon do you think your crew can become elite? Truly elite?”

You blink. “Well...” With two practices a week? Probably not even when the tournament ends. Shit. Your expression says it all really.

“Do you believe you can win this tournament?” she asks.

“Of course,” you say. “We have as much a chance as anyone else.”

“I see.” She clutches her Boko bear closely, then turns her head to see if anyone is watching. She turns back to you. “Elodie Zumwalt. I can teach you the ways of the Shimada-ryuu. And in turn, your crew can and will become elite in the span of two weeks.” Really? “You must trust me however, completely and fully.”

You step back. How... “Why me though? Why not Griselda and why not Iris? Or anyone else on the team? Why just me?”

“Senshadou is a team sport that values and emphasizes individuality,” she explains. “Trust me.”

To be completely honest. You thought you were going to have to carry Arisu around like Yoda and do handstands in your underwear or something. Arisu however is a very precise and careful teacher. Every word that she says has purpose and meaning, everything she tells you has a mission to it. And its mission to make you the best Tanker there can be apparently. Why? Who knows.

Still, it gave great insight as to what you should be doing.

> CO-OP MANEUVER LEARNED
> The Bermuda Triangle: 30 CP – 3 tanks
> The Bermuda Attack is one of the most infamous brawling techniques in the Shimada-ryuu. Requiring intense precision and coordination, the Bermuda Triangle Attack revolves around continuously maneuvering around a tank or a group of tanks in a shuffled but disciplined pattern, deceiving the tanks into thinking you're splitting up when in actuality you're attacking them all at once. Finish off the target or the final target in a group with a triangle attack from the front and to the sides.

> TACTICAL MANEUVER LEARNED
> The Shimada Sidesweep: 15 CP
> Ramming is a dangerous art. The Shimada-ryuu practices ramming down to a science. The Sideswipe is a precise charge into the corner of a tank from the side. This causes your target to spin out, and either present its vulnerable side or rear to your gun or cause it to veer off course into another area you intended to prod them into.

> From Arisu Shimada's teachings, you and your crew will now gain + 5 Talent everyday for the rest of this week.

> Arisu is now available as a personal mentor to you and your crew. You can learn TACTICAL MANEUVERS and CO-OP MANEUVERS along with boosting the talent and strength of each crewmember.

> At this point in the Quest, you should select a personal mentor. A mentor will continuously train your crew in talent and strength. However, each mentor has a different style of Tankery. Select wisely, once your crew is set on a particular doctrine, it may be hard to grow them out of it.

You arrive back at the Hangar in the middle of lecture with the teams. They all sit on benches, watching the presentation from Miss McPherson and the Roberts sisters. “So here we can see that Kursk uses a very patient creeping fire advance strategy in this situation. In the infantry world, it's known as bounding overwatch, with one tank advancing under the cover of another. In this way, they are able to slowly creep up the defensive line, and are able to sweep their team from the field.”

You sit down next to Winona. “Did I miss anything?” you whisper.

“Nothing you don't already know,” she says. Figures.

“Right. Any questions?” asks Miss McPherson. Heidi raises her hand. “Heidi.”

“Yes, hi, um...” She stands up. “I was wondering what our plan would be for the next match?” You all look to Griselda.
>>

[2/2]

Griselda says, “I usually wait to do plans until I can do more research into the lineup and we get the map to the battlefield. Drawing up plans though is last on my priority list though since we're out of money for now.”

“Okay, okay,” says Heidi. “Well, I figured since Glenn Curtiss School of Tech is really big on the medium stuff mixed with the SPGs, I was wondering-” The door opens, and you all see Jeep Jockey pokes his head in, along with several of the boys.

“... do you mind?” asks Griselda.

“Sorry,” says Jeep Jockey. “I'm interrupting, I know. I was just uh... wondering when Serafina would open the stand back. I could really use me more of those spicy sausages. I told the guys here.” They all nod, eager for some incredibly expensive food. Serafina at least looks a bit proud to have some paying customers finally.

“Hey!” One of the boys points to Heidi. She immediately sits down, covering her face. “You're Heide Fabre, you play for Glenn Curtiss Skycraft and Tankery! What are you doing here?”

“N-... no I'm not!” yells Heidi. “I- I just look like her!”

“Look like her?” One of the other boys stares at her. “You shot me down last year!

Everyone turns to look at her.

“SHE'S A SPY!” screams Regina. Heidi bursts out of her seat, running for the door past all the boys. You all jump up and follow her, nearly trampling over all the guys in the process. There you see her running for the hangar doors.

And you also see Denise with a bag of food. “Hey, Ellie!” She waves to you. “I was thinking I'd cook you dinner to-”

“STOP HER!” you yell, pointing to Heidi. Denise pauses, then immediately tackles Heidi to the ground. You all slide over, grabbing a struggling Heidi and tying her arms up. “We got her!”

“Yes!” Serina laughs. “Haha! Hehe... what do we do with her?”

“We let her go for doing such a good job being a spy?” says Heidi cheekily.

You place her in the briefing room, making sure to cover up all your maps and plans and roster information from her. You shine a lamplight right in her face like they do in the movies, with her tied up in a chair. For this interrogation, you brought in your retinue member Sergeant Mulcahy, along with Griselda, Serafina, Serina, and Iris. “WHO ARE YOU WORKING FOR!?” yells Serafina. “TELL US!”

“We already know she's a student at Glenn Curtiss,” you say.

“Oh.” Heidi smiles at Serafina, happy at seeing her be stupid it seems. “Sorry,” says Serafina.

“So what's the skinny on your roster information,” asks Serina. “Tell us, and we won't resort to drastic measures.”

“Ha!” Heidi turns her nose up. “You don't scare me!”

“Don't push us,” says Griselda. “We'll do everything we can to get anything out of you.”

“Glenn Curtiss is a school that values Skycraft more than its Tankery team, even if I tell you anything, it wouldn't be worth it,” she says. “Why, we may not be J. Walter Christie Polytechnical when it comes to tanks, but we sure as heck are the best when it comes to planes! So ha! Eat that!”

Mulcahy slams her hands on the table, genuinely scaring everyone in the room. Even Heidi looks frightened.

But then Mulcahy sits down. “Sorry. I- I didn't mean to do that.” Dang it, Mulcahy.

Everyone huddles up away from Heidi's prying ears. “What do we do? She's not budging.”

“I say we tickle her to death,” says Serafina. “Show her we mean business.”

“Nah, that ain't gonna work,” says Jack.

You all turn your heads to Jack. “What the fuck are you doing here?” asks Griselda.

“I heard Heidi was around,” he says. “Came to say hi.” He waves at Heidi, grinning at her. “Hey, Heidi!”

“Fuck you, Jack!” yells Heidi. “This is the year I shoot you the fuck down, motherfucker!”

Jack grins, quirking a brow at the lot of you like a smarmy prick. “I've shot her down five times.”

“Bite me,” she growls. “I'm not telling -you- of all people anything.”

“Are you still mad about last year. Honestly, I don't want know what you're thinking flying a Dauntless against a Spitfire or a Warhawk,” he says.

“THE DAUNTLESS IS THE BEST, SHUT UP!” She kicks her legs against the table. “I've shot down ten people in my Dauntless already! How many people have you shot down lately, hm? Hm? I didn't think so, you're just a prissy slack jawed faggot!” Wow. The nerve on this girl.

“You got some nerve, Heidi.” Jack folds his arms, smirking. “And I like that. You're a real babe.” Heidi huffs, a light blush on her face. “Tell you what though. I'll make you a deal. You tell the girls here what they want to know. You tell them exactly what they want and truthfully. And I won't have to resort to this.” He pulls out a piece of gum from his mouth, running it on his fingers.

“What-” Heidi has no time to wonder before he quickly tosses it at her head. “AH!” He catches it before it catches on her bangs. “D- Don't do that!” she yells. “I'd have to cut my hair-” He hovers it close to her face, making her lean away. “S- stop!”

“Come on, don't you wanna chew my gum, Heidi? I brush my teeth every day, there are no germs!” he declares.

“Th- that's disgusting, ew!” She yelps. “O- okay, fine! I'll tell!” He pulls the gum back, then motions you all to come around. “... okay. The plan is to purchase several SPGs to bolster our lineup. We scouted your team a couple of matches ahead and noted that you liked to group up and keep together most of the time, which translates into being an easy target for SPGs at the best times. Our plan is to hold a defensive pattern and barrage you and force you into our killzones.”

“What kind of SPGs we're talking about?” you ask.

“5 M7 Priests, and a T40 Whizbang,” she says.

“A whatbang?” asks Serina.

“A T40 Whizbang,” Griselda explains. “It's an MRL variant of the Sherman, like the Caliope but with 180mm T37 HE rockets instead of 114mm on the Caliope. 20 launch tubes. Those rockets are designed to punch through concrete, any one of those hits any of our tanks could mean trouble.”

“Yep, we called in a favor from Christie,” she says. “Had it borrowed for the year for you guys.” She glares at you all. “Can I go now!? This is inhumane! And Jack is fucking disgusting!”

"By the way, how many levels does your commander play on?"
>>
>>877976
So now that we know they're planning on using SPGs, they may change their tactics and expect us to spread widely. In response we should expect a wide range bombardment rather than the focused barrage that was implied, and as such we should drill our teammates to swiftly spread and tighten our formations.
>>
>>877976
>>878000
>>878038
This.
>>
>>878056
Yeah, and the whizbang's a one-trick pony, loading in the field's basically impossible and rockets are wildly innaccurate at anything other than point blank, and if we can see it all we have to do is aim for the giant, unarmoured rocket rack to remove it and likely anything parked near it from the match.
>>
>>878056
What if they expect us to do that because we expect them to do that in response to how they know we know their lineup?
>>
>>878078
Also the rockets for the Whizbang have a max range of 230 yards, so the source should be readily visible, but caution must also be taken as the launcher can be jettisoned to allow use of the 75mm

>>
> “No. Tell us more.”

“Tell us more,” you say. “You know our roster, what's yours? What do you plan to deploy?

“Fine!” she says. “Okay, we have a selection of early make M4 Shermans, light M3 Stuarts, and M3 Lees, that's it, I swear it!” she declares.

“... is that it?” you ask.

“How do you think we keep losing matches!?” she yells. “Now are you going to let me go or not?”

Griselda says, “We can always confirm it later anyway. It's not like the roster isn't a secret.”

“Fine.” You quickly take her cell phone. It's unlocked thankfully, which allows you to wipe her photos of the team's tanks. “You're free to go.” You drop the cell phone onto the table, and allow Mulcahy to untie her. “Don't try and spy on us again, we're better than that, you know.”

“Hmph!” Heide swipes her phone up. “We'll see in the match this weekend.” She storms past you, huffing and puffing angrily at the treatment.

Jack smirks. “Hate to see her go but I love to watch her leave.”

“Get the fuck out of here, Jack.” Griselda points to the door, and Jack happily walks out. With that, Griselda folds her arms, looking to you. “At least we didn't give up too much information to them. This is intense though, I didn't think they'd send a spy after us.”

“It's a cowardly but not entirely discouraged method of information gathering,” says Serafina. “We should do it ourselves one day!”

“Yeah, one day. But not today,” Griselda says.

Hilda and Griselda go over a few things one last time before Hilda has to go for the night. “... you're still in the hole,” says Hilda. “But thanks to Ellie's godmode bullshit with finding that treasure, you won't be defaulting on your loans this week. You still owe at least a million and a half dollars, but with the sponsors paying up yesterday plus me helping out...”

“How much?” asks Griselda.

“A million and a quarter dollars,” she says. Griselda places her good hand on her hip, glaring at Hilda. “Oy vey, if you didn't want this problem, maybe you should've played in a league that didn't require teams to handle their own repairs and purchase their own specialized ammunition.” She stands up, taking her coat and her bag. “I'm out of here. I'll be back tomorrow.”

With that, she leaves. “So.” You fold your arms as Griselda sits back down at her desk. “Feeling better?”

“Barely,” she mutters. “At the very least, we're making some real progress in knocking this money problem out. Serafina even dumped several hundred dollars onto my desk this evening. Nice of her, but... eh, it's nice of her.” Griselda leans back, sighing. “You shouldn't worry too much about me. You need to focus on earning money. I know that treasure thing was a big hoot and all. But you got bigger things to worry about for now.”

“Like what?” you ask.

“For one thing, that conversion for your tank. Then there's...” She snaps her finger. “Weren't you helping Winona with her Unlimited Tankery thing?” she asks. Oh. Right. Damn! How could you forget? “I mean, I'm not a fan of that, but you should probably at least spend some time with Winona on that.”

“Right, right.”

“Point is, Ellie. I'm in charge of the team. But you-” She points to you. “are in charge of your crew. Take care of them. I can take care of myself.”

“Is the fact that we're more than a million dollars in debt something I should ignore then?” you say bluntly.

She snickers. “Okay, that's harsh, but pretty funny. Hehe. Um. Yeah. Whatever. Look, tomorrow. I'll figure out fundraising stuff. You do you.” She smiles at you. “Alright, Ellie?”

You nod. “Alright. I'll see you tomorrow then, Griselda.”

“Good night, Ellie.”
