Character info pastebin coming soon/eventually (I really mean it. This week for sure)

General rules:

There is a 10 minute voting period after each post. Non-contradictory votes will be combined as best as possible.

Write-ins for all votes are always welcome and encouraged. They may not all make it into the post or be altered to fit in, but I'll do my best to at least try to address the spirit of the write-in.

Very important or contentious votes may be redone in a stricter voting system as circumstances warrant.

Combat mechanics are up in the air. Suggestions are welcome. We'll be trying some new things out so I appreciate your patience as we fine tune it. Stronger moves tend to take more time and have more cooldown than weaker moves, so beware of that timing. I also want to try a more varied turn system so you and your opponent can do a few things in a row more often. Speed is more important for closing ground, intercepting, and other things and doesn't necessarily mean going first.

Call me out on a mistake and receive a suggestive picture.

Pokemon:
Gobble (Munchlax)
Mace (Roggenrola)
Belladonna (Budew)

Recently: You had a dream of your grandpa, bonded with Keira, promised to take the mysterious fossil to Elilee, and started your first gym battle.

The gym leader doesn't seem to know anything about Bella. She's not native to the region, so you can't blame him.

“Sorry, Jonbuddai. But whatever you’re setting up, it won’t help.” He waves a hand. “The next water blast is going to be a big one. And with Heliolisk’s dry skin, we’ll keep coming back while your pokemon get worn down.. It was unlucky that this was your first gym.”

Hana watches from the sideline. Her robotic hand squeezes an indent into the metal bleachers.

Gobble wheezes and leans over. Using Focus Punch twice in a row took a lot out of his stamina. But if he pushes himself now, he might be able to finish Heliolisk. If he catches his breath though, he’ll be more flexible and effective.

“Heliolisk! Make sure to get as much water as you can, then let that Munchlax have it!”

Uh oh. Gobble will need to move quickly to pull anything off before that happens, and he’s not exactly fast.

The water cannon fires. Or waters. Whatever a water cannon does.

“Take it easy, Gobble.” You tell him. “Just catch your breath.” It sounds cold, but the simple truth is that he can take a beating if it comes to it.

Heliolisk is drenched in the heavy soaking water. It doesn’t do any damage, but it nearly plows him over like an umbrella caught in an unexpected wind. He was expecting it to feel differently.

The amount of water this time doesn’t let up, either. The arena is flooding, with a pool of water rapidly spreading from Heliolisk.

“Heliolisk! What’s wrong?”

The lizard pokemon doesn’t seem to know. It doesn’t feel refreshed at all. “They’re up to something. Use Electrify on that plant Pokemon!”

Bella is enveloped in a glowing, yellow sheen. Does this mean her next move will be electric?

About a half inch of water rushes over everyone’s feet. Pachirisu exposes it’s back to Bella and prepares to attack Gobble. As far as it knows, it has nothing to fear from her.

>Pin Missile Pachirisu while it’s guard is down
>Growth. I wonder if this will change the effect somehow

“Superfang that Munchlax!”

The little squirrel Pokemon kicks up a small trail of water into the air as it takes off. It’s tiny feet ripple against the water like a handful of pebbles. Gobble is caught almost completely off guard at such a quick moving attack. Pachirisu opens it’s jaw.

It’s front paws land on one of the few pebbles that are near Gobble and it skids out. Pachrisu comes to a flopping stop right in front of Gobble.

“Bella! Use Mega Drain on Heliolisk!”

“Sorry Jonbuddai, but with Electrify, that attack-”

Heliolisk is electrified by the strange attack. Bella soaks in the health while he goes down.

You also notice that all the Pokemon on the field takes a small amount of electric damage. It’s just a little, but none of the expect it.

“Heliolisk! Pachirisu!” He quickly retrieves his Heliolisk in it’s Pokeball. “So, the slick mainlander thinks he’s hustling me, huh? Well, we’ve got a surprise for you and your grass type tricks! Go! Emolga!”

Gobble looks down and the prone Pachirisu in front of him.

“Emolga! Air Slash!"

The flying pokemon fires a thin slice of air at Belladonna. But she leans down to see her reflection in the water better and it misses. A thin column of water refracts at almost the same angle from the impact.

“Gobble! Chip Away! Do your best!”

Gobble leans over his target. Pachirisu tries to scramble away, but a fist lands in it’s back first. It’s not the most graceful or powerful use of the move, but it hurts.

Pachirisu pushes itself up before it’s the the victim of another attack. It looks at Gobble angrily as it tries to stretch the pain out of it’s back

Bella watches Emolga flying over and stops back a few paces. She has no idea how to deal with her new opponent.

The water cannon takes aim at Gobble.

“Bella, good job, but return for now. Go, Mace!”

Bella gives a questioning look, but seems to understand at the last second as you retrieve her. Mace appears in the inch deep water. His speaker-like hearing apparatus that is his face quickly homes in on Emolga.

“Pachirisu! Let them have it! Discharge!

A huge blast of electricity bursts from the small pokemon and hits everyone else. Emolga seems to enjoy a boost of some sort, Mace takes the blow in surprise, and Gobble is struck hard. He smokes and takes a knee before stopping himself from falling over. He’s paralyzed now, too.

Gobble slips the berry into his mouth and eats. As he does, the water cannon blows over him, soaking him completely.

“Tables have turned, my tricky friend. It’s time to amp things up! Emolga! Use Agility!”

You’d better act quickly. His speed advantage is starting to make a difference.

The water level is getting higher now. A few inches. It’ll be difficult for those on the ground to move quickly.

Emolga finishes Agility, doing a respectable job. “Good job, Emolga! You know what’s next. Get ready for Electro Ball”

You’re not sure what that move has to do with extra speed, but it’s worrying you. You decide to roll the dice and hope for the best. “Gobble! Metronome!”

Gobble waggles his fingers, back and forth. He looks up to Emolga this time and unleashes his attack! You brace yourself for it!

Encore?

Encore! It’s Encore!

“Fuck yeah!” You hear Hana yell. She quickly covers her mouth. “I mean, yay.” She turns to the mother with her child and starts apologizing profusely.

“Good job, Gobble.”

The gym leader unleashes his own stream of profanity, but quickly stops when the mother turns her glare on him.

“Oh I don’t need more complaints.” He cones his mouth. “Emolga. Just concentrate on staying out of things until it wears off. Pachirisu, it’s up to you to keep them busy.”

Mace wants to show his battle power here too. He practically begs for an order with his body language.

“Pachirisu! Discharge again!”

The tiny Pokemon unleashes another blast of electricity. Using it twice in a short period seems to take a lot out of it, because the blast isn’t as strong. The first to be hit is Emolga as it passes over while using Agility. It’s move at an insane speed now.

Next is Mace. The electricity washes over him and he rolls back a few paces before righting himself and shaking it off.

Last is Gobble. It’s a weak blow, but with the soaking he took it almost takes him down. If it weren’t for that Sitrus berry, he’d be out. But as it stands now he’s only a strong wind away from falling over. The paralysis isn’t helping either.

Pachirisu takes a very small amount of damage too.

“Mace! Rock Blast!”

Mace leans down in the water and fires rocks like artillery. With each blast, a rippling shockwave goes out through the water he’s standing in. Despite Emolga’s blinding speed, Mace can track it with his fantastic hearing.

The water cannon moves to target Gobble, but he’s almost the same distance away from it as Pachirisu. With his poor speed, paralysis, and the inches of water, he can't move quickly.

Emolga zooms by again and uses Agility. That encore won’t last much longer, and it’s speed has gotten absurd.

“Gobble! Chip away Pachirisu!”

Gobble starts running forward. Through the water. Through the paralysis and exhaustion. Through the pain. He pushes forward and puts his momentum into it. His blow hits Pachirisu on it’s lower half, but it still lifts off the ground and flops it’s belly onto a pile of jagged stones a good distance away.

Gobble leans over, then falls to his knees. He’s completely exhausted.

“Great job, Gobble!” Another heavy shower of water hits Gobble. It gently pushes him over. He takes his time and a lot of effort getting himself up.

“You too, Pachirisu. Good job.” He takes out a pokeball and pulls his pokemon back. “It’s up to you Emolga.”

You think Encore might be wearing off now.

Rock Blast seems like a given. But with Emolga’s speed, you’re worried. Speed seems important to that Electro Ball move he mentioned.

“Mace! Aim for his attack! Intercept it!”

“Smart idea, but can you keep up with our speed? Emolga! Electro Ball!”

Mace fires a barrage of Rock Blasts. The first rock shaves off the top, then a bit of the bottom, then part of the side. It gets reduced to a small fraction of it’s part.

But what’s left is still incredible. It pierces right through Mace, then explodes. Mace is sent flying in an arc forward, and comes crashing down a few feet away. He bursts a little energy to quickly right himself, but he looks hurt. That move is really, really strong.

Gobble is on all fours. He very, very slowly pushes himself up to his feet. He doesn’t seem to have much of anything left. If you swap him with Bella, though, he’ll still be considered out. He might not even stay up after using another move even if he's not hit.

This is bad. Emolga can finish either one of them off now. And Bella doesn't have any effective attacks to deal with it either. You might have three pokemon, but they're all in deep trouble.

>Doesn’t matter. Withdraw Gobble and send in Belladonna
>Use Chip Away! A good hit might finish this
>Metronome. You just need a little more luck
>Have him toss Mace. He’ll be harder to hit and have a better angle of attack

“Gobble! Last Resort!”

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QhJ6bE4z5vs

Technically you haven’t used all his other moves yet, but you vaguely remember reading somewhere that it was a misnomer. That most Pokemon can use it after using at least three other moves. You hope it was three, anyway.

“Emolga, forget the Roggenrolla for now! Finish that one!”

Emolga comes flying done. Gobble yells. No, roars. It’s deep and primal. He puts everything he has into launching himself upwards.

He flies through the air at the much quicker, nimbler Emoga. Emolga spins in the air and whips Electro Ball.

It’s a hit! Dead on! Emolga’s face brightens. But it’s quickly overcome with a shadow. Gobble is still coming it it.

Hana leaps to her feet, lifting herself up a few extra feet in the air than intended. The scolding mother gives her space.

WHAM! Gobble’s exposed belly whaps the flying pokemon out of the air. Hey both come crashing down with Gobble on top.

“Gobble!” You run out to him and roll him over soe he’s not laying face down in the water. He’s clearly out. You’re suddenly filled with a panic. Pokemon get knocked out all the time, but he wash pushing himself really hard. What if you overdid it?

The gym leader walk over quickly, withdrawing Emolga without looking. He keeps his eyes on you and Gobble.

You’ve got to do something!

“Calm down.” He puts a hand on Gobble. “He’s fine. Let him rest for awhile, but don’t worry.”

“Are you sure?” Oh no oh no oh no what’d you do?

He looks at you like you’ve just said something terrible about his mother. “Jonbuddai, I am an internationally certified gym leader. This isn’t some two bit operation. Trust me. I would shut down the match if there were any danger. He’s totally alright. Here, I’ll show you how you can tell.”

He points out some signs on a pokemon and explain that they have very distinct signs for these sorts of things.

“I have to hand it to you. You battled very well. And your concern for your pokemon’s well being is genuine, even if you have a lot to learn.” He reaches into his jacket pocket. “I hereby award you with the Energy badge, this prize money, and TM72; Volt Switch.”

Mace comes up and nudges you to get out of your stupor. You won. You won! You reach up for the badge and other stuff.

“But,” he pulls it back, “the next time you suspect you’re pushing a pokemon too hard, you retrieve him, alright? No battle is worth losing your way.” That last part sounds like a proverb. You nod. He smiles. “You should be proud. And reward your pokemon after they’ve healed. It’s very rare that anyone beats this as their first gym.”

“Gym’s not that old, boss.” The technician says as he positions a ladder below the water cannon.

“Hey! Come on. I’m sounding cool here. And it's still true! Just check it over and lets do the next battle before the storm hits.”

We all have different tastes in favorite waifu, but which one would you like the least?
>>
>>879643
So far, Jane. She has potential to become a very good friend but right now she's just an asshole.
>>
>>879643
Jane will never be waifu. Rival and friend sure, but never waifu.

Keira also strikes me as someone I'd rather just have as a good friend.
>>
>>879643
Jane or Hana.

Now don't get me wrong, I like both characters, but Hana is Robin 2: Electric boogaloo
>>
>>879643
To put it bluntly, Valerie seems boring. She's just sort of there most of the time, and I can't see anything meaningful coming out of waifuing her.

Though to be honest, I also dislike the idea of waifuing Laki for similar reasons to those that other people have in not wanting to waifu Hana. The relationship with Laki would pretty much be exactly the same as the Robin/Kat relationship except reversed. Don't get me wrong; I like her and want to help her work through her problems, but I'd prefer a relationship with a different dynamic than what we had last time, and just reversing it doesn't count.
>>
>>879725
I wouldn't write off Valerie yet, we haven't really done anything with her alone. Also John is pretty different from Robin in that he isn't super insecure.
>>
>>879643
That's a hard one because there really isn't anyone I actively dislike in that aspect. I don't have any strong preferences either. I mean, I would really like to see Polu at least presented as an option though. It's just a shame that the format will really only let us do one playthrough.

Right now we're just getting to know everyone. Not just in character, but as a group.

And something I don't think we've talked about: We may end up dating more than one person. There isn't always a second date, and it may turn out that the romantic feelings just aren't there. We're going for a coming of age theme this time around, and the idea that relationships can change and still have value is a powerful one for a kid to learn. A good way for Herb to figure out his feelings might be to just ask someone out and see how it goes.
>>
>>879767
Polu is probably the character I want Herb to hang out with the most, but if our main date is gonna be getting lewdbins I just don't wanna read about two guys going at it.

I pretty much agree with everything else, but if a romantic option doesn't work then things might get weird.
>>
>>879767
I really agree with that. I can actually see Herb and someone dating for a bit and it ending in an amicable way. It fits the theming well too.

The anon butthurt would be intense, though. Overturning a "route lock" would be a hell of a shitstorm.
>>
>>879643
Jane. She's a turbobitch with serious psychological problems.

As for the other four, my guess is they'll set up a rotation for the order Herb plants his seeds in each week. If he's really lucky, he might get a day off to recover once in a while.
>>
>>879725
Any similarities are largely superficial. Same with people calling Hana Robin.
>>
>>879799
Yeah, that would be the real reason I don't see it happening even if could make sense. We all know John is gonna cook for everyone anyways.

>>879813
She is gonna be Robin at first, but that is just slang for shy. Once we crack that shell like the battles have start to do we will get to see how much of a degenerate she really is.
>>
>>879817
Don't misunderstand me I don't like her and her being a degenerate would lower my opinion of her.
>>
>>879767
Gobble just needs to start making VNs so we can play all the routes

>I think it'd be fun to have Herb exploring his sexuality just as much as I though it was fun when Val was thinking about her own. How arousing I personally find it doesn't matter as much as the character development. There'll be plenty of varied smut regardless of what we do.

Some anons might find this offensive, but I can see Laki just sort of "making a man" out of Herb without a relationship.
>>
>>879951
I just want to play a mild, effeminate guy who's good at cooking and fashion and actually embraces these things instead of it being seen as a quest to turn him into some sort of alpha male.
>>
>>879951
Yeah, she seemed down for a fling with Val, so I can see there being circumstances where she'd be down for a fling with Herb.

I think the real question is whether that's something he would want to do too. And honestly I could see him going either way. I doubt he has any deeply held religious beliefs about saving himself for marriage, but I think he probably has a solid grip on knowing whether he'd be able to keep those romantic and sexual feelings separate or not. And if he would want that kind of relationship. He's still pretty young, and I think he realizes that. Personally, I'd like to see some time pass between Herb beginning a relationship and taking it to that level.

Being suddenly thrust into a very new situation and deciding whether to wait or explore will be interesting, whichever way it goes. I just don't want John to be some sort of fuckchamp right out of the gate.

Hell yeah. I want us to be the mom-friend that encourages and supports everyone else.
It feels like right now we're doing gyms because we want our pokemon to be able to explore their options, and because we need the money to support them. It's not about proving something or glamour. I really like that. That we're pretty good at it speaks largely to our ability to draw out the potential in our pokemon, and that's pretty cool.

Too bad we can't use the tm we got. Maybe we can pawn it off, or trade it in? Unless we want to work on a complete set, that is. That'd be a cool, tangible goal.

God, this picture really drives home how scary pokemon really are. You, as a trainer, are almost certainly outnumbered by creatures for whom the elements bend to their will. They are at least as smart as you are, and scarier still, have their own desires and goals. The only power you have over them is a small red ball. Don't have it on you? Too bad buddy. It'd be hard enough fighting someone a bit taller than you, let alone a telekinetic, telepathic woman that can stand up from a charging Rhydon and break boulders with her fists. If I were Brendan here, I would be terrified.
>>
>>880075
>If I were Brendan here, I would be terrified

Yup. Terrified and aroused
>>
This is going to get some hate probably, but I actually really like Laki the most and Kiera to a lesser extent.

Some of it is fetish (muscle girls) but I also really resonate with her character as presented in the story. I wasn't an olympic athelete or anything, but I can still relate to what she's gone through.

She's also hot as hell and the lewd bullying is toptier
>>
>>880075
>It'd be hard enough fighting someone a bit taller than you, let alone a telekinetic, telepathic woman
Why fight it? Just let it happen.
Unless struggling is your fetish, in which case I understand.
>>
>>880081
>>880092
The fear boner is an acquired, but refined form of arousal. Danger, like sex, reminds us that we are alive, and so we are doubly enthralled when we combine the two and are doubly awakened to our senses.

I guess that, assuming the two are engaged in some sort of erotic role play, it'd be pretty damn hot. Especially since there's the aspect of having to really trust your partner to know your limits and not hurt you, even when you make yourself vulnerable.

I think Valerie has had the least characterization of all the girls. So, I'd say she is the one I'd like the least to see Herb end up with at the moment. I'm personally looking forward to learning about all the characters before Herb gets too romantic. I'm not even sure he'd be an initiator of any romantic relationship.

>Lusamine being a bitch
Honestly, if it weren't for the happy kid game tone, the SM games would have been an outright lovecraftian horror story.

Lusamine was once a loving and caring mother, but it's implied that at some point before the events of the game (based on what Wicke says about her and the Nihilego data about afflicted people) she might have encountered a Nihilego near a wormhole and changed completely into her current attitude: selfish, uncaring, narcissistic, and utterly obsessed with piercing the veil that separates our world and Ultra Space.

That entire premise is one good writer and some themes of sanity and madness away from being straight up Lovecraft.

So what's the deal with Kartana? It's just, like, origami? I was kind of dissapointed because it was so small and couldn't tank hits like buzzwole could. Like, I think Guzzlord looks a little ridiculous but at least it cuts an intimidating figure.

And just what the hell is the deal with Anabel? Can we ever know?

All this Ultra stuff just raises questions on top of questions. Makes you realize just why eleven year olds need to command a platoon of monsters. To protect themselves from the extradimensional horrors that just fucking show up on vacation. Fuck.

And those poor cryogenically frozen pokemon... they never did get revived. There's an aether grunt that mentions how they'll watch over them. Guess that's different from being frozen by blizzard or something.

Is this how lovecraftian references are supposed to work? They just drive the audience mad?

>>884081
Lovecraftian horror is all about the powerlessness of humanity in the face of eldritch and alien beings that our minds literally cannot comprehend.

People tend to end up going insane in these stories because they're being exposed to knowledge and revelations about the universe that our meager human brains simply can't process properly, and that's often reflected in the stories as instinctive feelings of terror, revulsion, and wrongness when confronted with such things.

That's why the whole thing with absurdly powerful yet utterly bizarre beings lying beyond the pale of reality that a powerful madwoman is trying to breach is the perfect setting for some good Lovecraftian horror.

Look at the lake guardians for example

While they protect something important they don't legit kill people
>>
>>884498
>Nobody lives there except for Skull
Umm, there are multiple towns there anon.
>>
>>884470
It's definitely better than the skeeter, I just didn't mention her because I already said she's absurd
>>
Just had my first encounter with Nihilego, and it really does make it clear that whatever it is, it comes from somewhere at right angles to reality.
>>
>>884649
Definitely. It doesn't have a face, it shows up through a portal, it's constantly blinking in and out of sight. You can't even read any body language from it. You have no clue at first if it even has a type like pokemon do. Can't even read its name.
>>
>>884498
>While they protect something important they don't legit kill people

Completely erasing someone's identity may as well be murder.
>>
>>884828
When the hell does a Tapu do that?
>>
>>884844
He means the lake trio

I think anyway
>>
>>884853
Right
>>
>>884828
Tell that to the Jedi Council in KOTR. They were the good guys right?
>>
>>884828
The lake trio can take away your memories, emotion, or free will. But I don't think they go out doing so.

Bulu scorched the earth on the island he was supposed to be protecting because he got his feelings hurt? And I don't know too much about Fini, but if she's actively keeping medicine from people, that makes her the asshole.

I don't know. I'm not really super invested in hating the tapus, but I do really like the lake trio. They gave humans will, emotion, and knowledge. I like those things.
>>
>>884995
He destroyed one store and made the area around his shrine a desert
>>
>>884995
Look, if Fini's been charged to protect it, and humans have only ever tried to steal it from her, then the act of killing them on sight is at least understandable, and if it turns out that there is in fact a very good reason for that water to be protected (like maybe if life on the islands die off or something without it), then killing is outright justified, given her experiences with the human race.
>>
>>885035
Looks like Fini creates the water, not protects it. Still, there's this air to them like they're justified in fucking with people, or it's okay because it's just within their nature. It rubs me the wrong way.

I like the legendary dogs a lot better. When people lashed out at them, they didn't lash back. They just fucked off somewhere else.

>>

Not an option, the local gang will likely try to murder us throughout this quest because we are a mainlander.

Yes, death by sex. Herb will just be lying there and they'll be doing it to him and doing it to him and doing it to him until

Until what? I want to hear the climax of the story...

We're literally exactly what they despise.

That's like suggesting that a black woman date a KKK member; they're more likely to drown us in the ocean than even consider it.

They aren't Team Skull.

Team Skull was a bunch of young people trying to be tough and cool.

These guys are people who are dedicated to forcing out the foreigners that are ruining their home, and they are clearly willing to resort to violence and likely other illicit means to do so. They are far more dangerous than Team Skull ever was because they believe that they are fighting for their livelihoods.
>>
>>886306
They need a name other than "those anti-mainlanders," assuming that they do have some sort of organization.

Like Militia Against Intruding Mainlanders (MAIM)

I can't wait for Herb to deal with them in the way he does best: compassion and understanding.
>>
>>886306
Fine I just want Herb to have a budding romance with a nationalistic xenophobe
>>
>>886354
So Jane?
>>
>>886354
Only if we end up converting her via hot lawful handholding
>>
>>886361
She doesn't count she's non-native.
>>
>>886365
Fuck you say m8? I'll have you know Jane is the most native person around and Herb wouldn't be able to tell anyways
>>
>>886354
That sounds nice in theory, but we don't know if Herb will find the right nationalist xenophobe for him. Someone he could see settling down with someday. What are her goals? Dreams? Will our pokemon approve of her?

I mean, sexually aggressive skull girls are hot and all, but I feel like Herb needs someone who can turn on the Dick in his heart, not just the dick in his pants.

Herb'd be pretty cute getting seduced by the enemy though. And then his natural charm starts to shine through and they decide to wait until marriage.

Jane's mostly just a regular pokemon trainer, if an abrasive one. I could see her falling in with the anti mainlanders. She seems to really want to be seen as one of the natives, and they were offering that. Plus, it's the confident types who can really get themselves in over their heads.

It'd be the perfect opportunity for Herb to continue to treat her kindly and with respect. That'll show her.

Well we've already gotten one noncanon lewdbin. It'd be interesting to get a similar one from Laki's perspective.

Or maybe we could be privy to her dreams of a golden combo? We have a world of lewd to explore there, but I don't feel qualified to write any of it.

I wonder what kinks everybody else would have? We seem to be getting a good idea of Laki's, and Hana probably has quite a few. Val seems to be gearing up to explore and Keira is suddenly around the opposite sex.

I've heard a theory that kinks are erotic solutions to everyday problems. Tired of being a doormat? Dominance kink. Tired of being ignored by authority figures? Uniform kink. Tired of how people normally hate how you're not assertive? In bed, someone might love for you to be submissive. Submission kink.

I wonder, in that context, what sort of fantasies Jane, Polu, or Herb might have.

>>889818
Maybe. I think that'a the type of characteristic I'm not too worried about. It's funny enough to justify itself. On the tilt her hand, maybe it's guilt? Like he grew up with mostly girls for friends who always complained about horny boys and complimented him for "not being like that?" And now he's suppressed some of those feelings.

Or maybe Zygarde says lust is a sin.
>>
>>889873

And also I like Zygarde. Herb is from Kalos, right?
>>

We need to trade childhood stories with Keira. She seems like she's really interested. So am I.
>>
>>890147
I want to do this with like the entire cast.
>>
>>890159
Definitely. But Keira seems the most immediately curious about us. She's also probably had the upbringing it's different from everyone else's. Things we learn about Polu's upbringing might be similar to Laki's or Hana's, but not Keira's. Getting to know everyone is going to be one of the best things about this quest ongoing.
>>
>>890124
It would be neat if it turned out the islanders honored Zygarde, though the image we saw of their major god was definitely more Rayquaza.

Shit, I just want Zygarde to get some time in the limelight. It got no meaningful story or lore in either of the games it appeared in, and it's such a neat idea that never got explored.
>>

Yeah. Does Zy do any better in the anime? I think the balance thing is cool, and I loved my in-game zygarde in sun. But it just never seems to do anything... godly.

What do people here think of dwebble/crustle? I never used one, but I think it looks cool. It's one of the only pokemon to learn rock wrecker too, which is cool. We don't really need another rock though. We seem to be generally more interested in cutiefly/wimpod.
>>
>>891572

>>
>>891572
I like Grubbin, plus his final form Vikavolt looks super cool.
>>
>>891627
sadly grubbin is actually faster than his final evolution vikavolt... at least vikavolt has 145 base special attack.

I'm partial to dewpider and araquanid personally, their ability water bubble makes them immune to burns, halves fire damage and doubles the base power of water moves.
>>

>>891646
Don't forget most of the bugs from gen 2 and 5.
>>
>>891578
Yeah. Butterfree is nice and all, but gens 5/7 had my favorites. Maybe Keira won't want her Shedinja? I've already railed on about that though.
>>891627
Vikavolt learns guillotine, which is pretty cool. So can Durant. I've been thinking about Durant a little bit lately. It can have the truant ability, and the move entrainment. It's kind of like worry seed, which we already have though.
>>891646
They get entrainment too! Could be cool for doubles.
>>
>>891658
Heracross, Escavalier, Leavanny, Scolipede, Yanmega, Galvantula, all great. We might even get a Larvesta thing at the spirit island if the elders like us or something. But I honestly don't like the fluffy mothra that much.

well, masquerain got a +40 bst buff so its actually pretty good now too.

Looking forward to seeing Hana's battling style. She's only got the two pokemon, so we'll see whether they go doubles or not. It might make more sense to go singles, so that whoever gets the first knockout doesn't immediately get a 2v1. Or maybe that's a risk Hana's willing to take?

So, I finally caught up through the archives to read everything up to now, but I've got say that I feel like there was a fairly bad stumbling block right at the beginning with having so many characters introduced all at once. Is this just a problem that I had, or has anybody else felt like we haven't really done or gained anything for want of socializing, and not even really gotten to know any of these characters all that well?
I just kinda think that if we were only introduced to only one or two of the characters at the beginning, and were gradually introduced to the others after that, we'd have a much better pace and sense of direction for where this journey is going.
>>
>>896851
I kinda agree on it being too many people at once, but I think Gobble has done a good job since then. We are getting to know people as time goes on, but I do hope we get more time with the people we talk less too. Granted we also end up choosing to do things with the same few people because we haven't gone too much out of our way to do things with them. Also it has only been a few days in quest time.
>>
>>896851
Yeah. Even with the ability to go back and reread introductions it was a little tricky keeping track of everyone.
But I think the way we've done things has also done a really good job of putting us in Herb's shoes. He's just moved, and of course everyone he sees he's going to be meeting for the first time. So we meet a lot of characters quickly. Herb's a young man setting out into the world, so neither he nor we know where this is going. And even with all our socializing, we've still had time to catch and grow close to three wonderful Pokémon. We're going to keep getting to learn about Herb and grow closer to his friends with him for the whole quest, and I'm glad for that.
>>
>>896903
I remember back in thread 3 having no idea who anyone other than Laki who any other the characters were. I like her description was the only that stuck in my mind, I still mix up the girls in my head at times.
>>
>>897384
Early on I did too, but at this point that is kinda bad.
>>
>>897390
Eh, realistically we haven't even learned much about the main cast. Only Laki, Keira, and Hana have development so far. Jane is getting there too. The rest of the characters are much more how do you say... Lest distinct in my mind.
>>
>>897842
Well that only leaves Polu and Val left undeveloped. If you are confusing those two together then I dunno what to say.
>>
>>897865
Nah, I mix up girls like Val, and Jane, and Hana until like a few threads back. I admire your attempt at humor tho.
>>
>>897865
Another thing I noticed is we don't have too much in the way of description for the cast either. I think it's on purpose but in certain parts of the writing I lose track of who's doing what.

I want to say I really enjoy the quest, but these are things that have happened to me when I been reading it. Perhaps I'm the only one, but just thought I would say so.
>>
>>898133
I try to entertain.

>>898151
That is understandable. I think Gobble is letting the pictures act as a basis and letting people fill in the blanks. Besides for the assets, those are carefully measured.
>>
>>898199
I think you misspelled asses. There's not supposed to be a t.
>>
>>898151
I never had the problem of mixing them up in my mind, but I do feel like we barely know any of them even now. Not because we haven't spent enough time trying to get to know them, but because we're trying to get along with everybody that we're only getting a shallow characterization of them.
>>
>>898220
Gobble has given us allllll the measurements.
>>
>>898254
Did anyone compile them into a list, ya'know for science.
>>
>>898261
They are in the archive somewhere. Gobble didn't rank them from best to worst, just said what size of butts, chest, and types of thighs.
>>
>>898243
We'll get to see everybody put under stress eventually, I just don't think we're going to be the stressor in most cases. We've just got to get to know them one layer at a time. Like an ogre.
>>
>>898261
All you have to know is that Laki is at the top for all of them except lewdness
>>
>>898430
I feel like the thighs were more subjective. Keira was top Teri for me there. And if Zinnia's a good comparison, then Jane's up there too.
>>
>>898274
That's not exactly what I mean. It's more an issue of mostly hanging around with them in groups without any personal interaction.

We're only involved with them in the same group activities without actually getting to know them at all. We've spent some time with Valerie, but I know less about her than I do Polu, who we've probably interacted with even less. All I could tell you about Laki is that she has a rough and domineering temperament and some hangups stemming from her failure athletically.
The character I feel like we have the best handle on would probably be Jane, because as shitty as she acts towards us it's been the most personal interaction we've had with any other character, and her issues and the dynamic between her and Herb is actually pretty simple to understand.
Other than that, it'd be Hana or Keira depending, since you could potentially take more away from Keira's interactions than I did.
>>
>>898430
Laki a best.
>>
>>898463
You can also garner underneath all the "domineering" Laki is a pretty kind person. She was the first one to look for us after the egg thing, her and Kiera anyway.

We've also bonded with her the most, she's probably John's friend now.
>>
>>898463
Yeah. I can see how spending time around someone and them opening up to us aren't the same thing. The best we can plan is probably to make Herb the kind of insightful, nonjudgmental sort of person that others feel comfortable opening up to.

And it wouldn't hurt to have Herb try to make gains while he's on these magic islands. Attractiveness only gets you so much favor from people, but every bit helps.

To that end I think we should have Herb start running laps with his pokemon every morning. I bet Mace could whip us into shape nicely.
>>
>>898498
>Making Gobs run laps

I'm having flashbacks to when I was tiny and fat. N-no bully the chubby guy
>>
>>898498
Actually, I feel like if Herb just decided what he was going to really go for, be it going for contests or gym battles or community service, there'd be more common ground there that other people could relate with. As it stands, as a guy that just wants be be friendly and doesn't have any specific greater goals in mind and a foreigner on top, Herb probably comes off as weirdly unapproachable or overly nice.
>>
>>898513
I just remember how cool the snorlax was in the last quest when it caught a fucking airship, and its trainer made it run laps.

>>898613
I think right now our main goal is to just explore the island. We'll find our passion eventually. Personally, I'm hoping that its master chef. It'll still give us an edge in battle/contests, but I also really want to run Herb as a support character.
>>
>>898708
The issue is, Snorlax are supposed to be fat. I think maybe making Gobs the biggest snorlax ever would be a better goal.
>>
>>898766
I really like Gobbs as he is now though. I don't want him to sleep all the time and stop doing cute things. That's why I want him to be active if he evolves, like the normal type gym leader's snorlax was last quest.
