Far off, nestled in an otherwise small Japanese town lies the Dark Gate Academy. An institution of tremendous size, the Academy holds a long kept secret. Unknown to the outside world, this unseemly town is home to a tear in our reality. A gate between our world and a bizarre dimension known as the Darkworld. The inhabitants of this hellish world breach this gate and attempt to flood into our reality and spread throughout the world on a regular basis. However, the Dark Gate Academy is home to students of truly extraordinary abilities. The ability to sense the presence of these evil Darkworld creatures, and defeat them in combat, sending them back through the gate.

They cannot close the rift between our world and the Darkworld, but the students and staff of Dark Gate Academy have dedicated their lives to using their amazing powers to hold back the darkness that plagues our world, even if it costs them their lives. They have risen up to the challenge and in secret have become great heroic defenders of the world as we know it.

For many years, Dark Gate Academy has held back the forces of the Darkworld, kept this unspeakable evil contained within their walls. But a dark cloud approaches, and times are about to change. A new chapter in the tale of Dark Gate Academy is about to begin.

“Atchoo!”

A few days have passed since the battle with Yami. Your bones and muscles are still aching, but for now, you've been able to sleep peacefully. The Darkness was far from the only threat to earth, but he was the only one taking immediate action, and while Yami is detained and interrogated by the higher-ups, you find yourself with plenty of free time to rest and recover. These past few days there's been no worries of having to fight Archdemons or head out on missions, with the only word on people's lips being rumours of this... archangel stuff. Apparently Ken Tajiri began to unlock the powers Miyoko spoke of... but you couldn't see. You were busy being... unconscious at the time. Still, you've had time to heal up and laze around the dorms, with your biggest worry simply being Kiriko catching a cold.

“Need another blanket?” you ask her, as she remains curled up in bed in the morning.

“If you've got one, I'll take it,” Kiriko raspy voice fires back, her nose as red as a tomato. “Ugh... this sucks.”

“You'll be fine,” you smile as you grab another blanket and throw it over her. She's practically buried by now.

“You really shouldn't stick around here,” Kiriko moans in between coughing fits. “I don't want my little bro catching what I have...”

“I'm just making sure you've got everything you need before I leave you alone,” you reply. “To be honest, I'm surprised Mayu isn't here, doting on you.”

Kiriko sniffles. “She's off training somewhere... she's been awfully queit ever since that incident with the stone... I don't like it.”

You sigh. Things with Mayu and the rest of the group, especially you, continue to be awkward as hell. You suppose it's just going to take time before she's comfortable enough around you and forgives herself for what happened... but knowing Mayu, that could take a long, long time indeed.

“I don't know if me trying to talk to her will make things better or worse...” you sigh. Whatever, worrying about it now won't do you any good. Better to cross that bridge when you get to it.

“I hope she'll be better soon...” Kiriko mumbles. “You and her are my best friends, and I really want the two of you to get along, and maybe hold hands, and possibly-”

“-Don't say date.”

“But it's cute!” Kiriko protests, before sneezing again.

You shake your head. “Just... get some rest, okay? I'll be back later to check on you.”

You bid farewell to Kiriko and exit her room, out in the hallway of the dorms. As you do, you see Roka staggering down the hallway with the usual grumpy look on his face, and a bowl of soup in his hands.

“Who's that for?” you ask.

“What?!” Roka snaps. “It's for myself! Who else would it be for?!”

“Looks like you're carrying it to someone,” you remark.

“Shut up!” Roka yells. “I... I just made too much of it, so I'm taking this bowl back to my room so I can have it later!”

“Wouldn't it make more sense to store it in the fridge?” you ask.

“I... shut up!” the angry and ineloquent Roka repeats. “Why are you grilling me on this crap?! It's just some soup I'm taking back to my own room!”

You shrug. “Whatever... your room's back that way, by the way. You're going the wrong direction.”

Roka huffs as you move on, stepping out of the dormitory and stretching your limbs. You should probably take it easy today... but with Kiriko down with a cold, you find yourself with a loss of things to do, other than simply wander around campus.

>School Gates

You decide to take a trip down by the school gates. You're not really sure why, just seems like a good distance to walk. You might run into Io is she's selling anything today... though that's unlikely due to all her wares being confiscated a while back. Still, the school gates are a nice place to hang out, and see who's coming to and from the school.

As you arrive at the school gates, you are met with a familiar sight, a small, stray dog being fed through the bars of the gate by a hooded blonde boy. Taiyo, always the mystery of the class, is being his usual kind yet reserved self. Hopefully you can walk up to him without scaring him off this time... that boy's like a timid deer.

You step up to Taiyo and clear your throat. He spins around, his eyes wide as if he were being threatened, as the small dog begins to wander off.

"Uh... hey," you say, giving a small wave.

Taiyo grabs the hood of his cloak and pulls it down further over his face, as if doing so would make him invisible.

"I'm not trying to bother you," you mutter. "I just thought we could chat. Can't say I know much about you."

"I prefer it when other's don't know much about me..." Taiyo mutters. "I have nothing against you... I simply prefer to be alone."

"Not the best mentality to have," you shrug. "I mean, you're in a school. These places are pretty much made for you to meet new people, make friends."

"I have plenty of friends," Taiyo replies.

You shake your head. "Animals don't count. Human friends."

Taiyo stares at you. "I see... you really wish to speak with me?"

"Yeah."

After some hesitation, Taiyo lets out a defeated sigh. "Very well... what is it that you wish to know about me?"

>Why do you like animals so much?

Taiyo pauses. "Should there be a reason? I like animals."

"Yeah, but what do you like about them?" you ask.

"Animals..." Taiyo mutters. "Animals are simple. If you show them kindness, they will show you kindness in return. Animals love those who are kind and hate those who are cruel... I like that, I appreciate that. Humans... are different. I don't understand people quite so well. I do my best to be a kind man, to do right by others, yet I am not always met with kindness for my actions. Some people simply will not accept kindness in a graceful manner... and I sit and watch as awful people gain followings, are celebrated by others, no matter what horrible things they do... animals aren't like that."

You nod, taking in all that Taiyo said. "So... you don't like people?"

Taiyo looks at you and shakes his head. "That is not what I said. I love people, but oftentimes I find their actions... confusing. I feel I am better with people when observing from a distance."

You shake your head. "I think you've got people pegged wrong, man... we don't celebrate bad people nearly as much as you think."

"Is that so?" Taiyo asks. "Tell me, have you ever heard of the Rubi and Safaia regions?"

"Vaguely," you reply. "I don't exactly listen much in geography."

"You should read more on them," Taiyo replies. "After all, several from our school are from these regions... two regions separate from the rest of Japan... technically their own countries, with their own individual governments. The leader of the Safaia region, Zenko Ugaki, was a cruel, violent man. He started an invasion of the rival region, and did not stop until they were well and truly crushed beneath his feet. He is responsible for the death of thousands, all out of a sense of greed, the belief that the land he owned just wasn't big enough... and yet, in the centre of where the Rubi region once stood, lies a statue made in his honour. Does that seem right to you?"

"No," you reply. "But not all people are like that."

"May I ask you a question, Kazuma?" Taiyo asks. "Have you ever found yourself guilty of this? Of worshipping someone you know deep down is not the good person you believe them to be?"

>Yeah, I might have...

>Well, people aren't all good or all bad... it's a lot more complicated than you think.

"You believe so?" Taiyo asks.

"Yeah," you shrug. "You can't really boil people down to something as simple as... good person, bead person... there's a lot more layers than that. What makes some people good and others bad? We all have flaws, you know?"

Taiyo pauses. "The way you speak... it sounds like you're trying to justify something to yourself."

"What's that supposed to mean?"

"Nothing," Taiyo shakes his head. "Don't mind me. I have no right to tell you how to speak. That said... I would like to think you are right about other people. Unfortunately, I don't."

You shrug. You suppose there's little you can say to convince him to change philosophies. At least he's more than willing to listen, which is something you can't say for most.

"Kazuma, may you do me a favour?" Taiyo asks.

"What kind of favour?" you reply.

"Nothing complicated," Taiyo mutters. "In fact, I'm certain it was something you intended to do anyway. I wish for you to spend time with one of your friends today, one of the people who you consider important to you."

"One of my friends?"

Taiyo nods. "Indeed... I know you have plenty. I've seen you and your club around the school campus... and it warms my heart. The friendship between each of you makes me smile. Feed that friendship."

"Uh... okay?" you raise an eyebrow.

"Good," Taiyo smiles. "I'm sure you will wish to talk to me later. For now, I have some squirrels to feed."

Taiyo wanders off, as you find yourself compelled to follow his advice. Instead of simply wandering the grounds, you set out to find one of your friends.

>Kuin

You decide to check up on Kuin, someone who always puts a smile on your face when you talk. It doesn't take you much effort to find her, either, as you see her the moment you enter the school's main building, noting her jumping in place with a large poster in her hands.

"Darn it, this is disgraceful!" Kuin yells in frustration. "I am a benevolent dictator, and I demand that this wall obey me!"

Kuin is holding a poster with her face on it, the words "I want you to join my benevolent dictatorship!" emblazoned upon it, which she is trying to pin to the bulletin board, and seems to be having a lot of difficulty due to her height.

"Where's Gado?" you ask, wondering the location of the man who usually helps her in times like these.

"I sent him to pin up more!" Kuin explains, "But this bulletin board is disobeying all of my orders! How dare it! Hmm... can you carry me?"

"Huh?"

Kuin places a finger to her chin. "You're not that tall, certainly not as tall as my loyal Gado, but you can definitely raise me high enough!"

"Or I could just pin it myself..."

"No!" Kuin snaps. "I want to pin it!"

You sigh as you grab Kuin under the arms and raise her up, allowing her to pin the poster onto the board with little problem.

"Haha! There we are!" She smiles as you let her down. She dust herself off as she turns to you. "So, what brings you here before your magnificent and glorious ruler?"

You shrug. "Just figured we could hang out. Come on, let's go for a walk."

Kuin nods and follows you out into the courtyard, the two of you walking side-by-side. "Ugh, walking is boring!" Kuin complains. "When I get bored with walking, Gado would carry me!"

"You really rely on him for almost everything, don't you?" you ask.

"Well, when you're a dictator with the bestest, most loyalest guard imaginable, why wouldn't you?"

"Good point," you reply.

"So... did you want to talk about something, or...?"

"Yep!" Kuin smiles, crossing her arms. "What else could I be doing? It's about time I had more loyal knights join the ranks of Gado and yourself!"

"I'm sure there'll be plenty ready to sign up," you smile.

Kuin pauses. "Yeah, of course there'll be! How could anyone turn down their benevolent dictator after that? On the poster, I made sure my face was huge so everyone would notice it! The poster is 95% my face!"

"I noticed..." you mutter. "You worried that people will laugh?"

"Laugh?" Kuin places her hands on her hips. "Why would they laugh?"

"No reason..." you reply as you continue to walk on.

As you do, a strange silence is filling the air. Usually Kuin is load and boisterous, but as you turn to her, she seems to be caught up in thought, looking into the distance and twiddling her thumbs.

"Something wrong?" you ask.

Kuin remains silent. "I just... I command you to answer a question!"

"Okay, shoot."

"Do..." Kuin begins, looking down in embarrassment. "Do other people... take me seriously?"

"What?"

"Am... am I a big joke?" Kuin asks. "Do... do other people make fun of me when I'm not around? Nobody signs up to work for me... and Gado's the only one who doesn't laugh when I talk... do people think I'm some fool? That I'm just... cute? Funny? Amusing to have around? Is that all I am to people?"

>Of course not. Everyone loves you.
>Who cares? Do what you want, regardless of others.

"Really?" Kuin asks.

"Yeah... all of us consider you a friend, we love having you around. And even if we didn't, who cares? The thing people like about you is that you do your own thing, you march to the beat of you own drum. Don't doubt that about yourself just because some people might not take you seriously. We all know how genuine and good-hearted you are, and we respect that."

You place a comforting hand atop Kuin's head, ruffling her hair a little with a smile. She smiles in turn as she looks up at you.

"So... you respect me, don't you?" she asks.

You smile. "Of course I do."

In reply, Kuin rushes up to you and hugs you tight. "Thanks Kaz... you're a truly loyal subject..."

"Happy to serve such a benevolent dictator," you reply, hugging back.

Kuin looks up at you with doughy eyes as she continues to squeeze tight in a friendly embrace. You feel warm, until you're interrupted by a voice calling out.

"What the hell are you doing?!"

You turn your head to see Gado barrelling down the courtyard towards you. Before you can reply to him, he shoves you back, breaking you out of Kuin's grip as he continues to yell. "Kuin, I told you to stay where you were and wait for me! Why did you take her away, Kaz?!"

"I was just-"

In a rage, Gado grabs you by the collar and pulls you up off of your feet, your face hanging inches from his as he grimaces and growls at you. "Where the hell do you think you were taking her? Who the hell do you think you are? Don't touch her! I don't want to see you trying anything with-"

"Gado, I'm fine!" Kuin yells, breaking Gado's angry trance.

Gado's eyes widen, as he realises what he's currently doing, before placing you back down and dusting you off. "I... sorry, Kaz... I just saw that Kuin was missing and I... I panicked. Kuin, I-"

"You're not my father," Kuin mutters. "I just wanted to talk to my friend!"

"Kuin, you should have told me you were going to-"

"Just leave me alone! You're not the boss of me!" Kuin yells, before running off to the dorms.

As Kuin runs off, the look on Gado's face is one of pure shame. He shakes his head in frustration. "Dammit... I'm sorry..."

>Maybe you should give her a little space. You aren't her dad, after all.

Gado hesitates as he looks off in the direction Kuin ran, before letting out a sigh. "Yeah... you're right. You want to sit down with me?"

You nod and join Gado on one of the benches. He hangs his head low as he begins to speak. "Sorry about almost strangling you back there."

"You've apologised for that three times now," you mutter.

"Yeah? Well... it just means I'm extra sorry. I should be able to trust you with Kuin. You're a friend after all. You're like my wimpy little brother."

"Wimpy?"

"Heh, just kidding," Gado chuckles. "Dammit... I thought Kuin always appreciated my help. I guess I can just go too far sometimes."

"Why are you so eager to protect Kuin?" you ask.

Gado shrugs. "It's... a long story. Let's just say she reminds me of a kid I once knew. And she's right... I'm not her dad. She already has a family... a foster family, but they're real nice. A hell of a lot better than what I've got."

"Yeah... your childhood sounds rough," you reply.

Gado shakes his head. "I don't really want to get into it right now... Dammit, I'm usually calmer than this."

"What set you off?" you ask.

"When I was putting up those posters... I ran into blondie. I told Kuin I'd be right back, as soon as I could... instead I stopped to flirt with that stupid religious girl. I let my attraction get in the way of my duty... and by the time I came back, Kuin was gone. I panicked... I thought I had truly failed the only person who relies on me."

Gado groans as he raises himself from the bench. "Well... no use crying about it. Kuin will be angry for a while, but she'll be safe in the dorms. I'll just cool off and apologise to her when we're both ready. Thanks for... just listening, Kaz. I'll catch you later."

With that, Gado simply walks off, leaving you to wander around the school once more.

You decide to check out homeroom. There may not be any classes today, but other students often decide to hang out there on days off. You've had a few club meetings there on days when Takeshi managed to lose the keys to the club room. You enter school building and make your way up the steps and into the Homeroom class.

Empty. Great.

You let out a sigh, but then remember you left a book behind in class last time, and figure now's as good a time as any to grab it. As you make your way towards your desk, you hear the door closing behind you. As you turn around, you see the figure of a blonde-haired, bespectacled man shutting the door. Your new homeroom teacher, replacing Takeshi now that he's been demoted to janitorial work... Mr. Kudawa. From what little you've had of the guy, you can tell that he's a stern yet intelligent man, with little room for fun.

"Oh, hello Asai. What are you doing here?" he asks.

"Just picking up a book," you reply.

"I see..." Kudawa mutters. "I certainly hope you weren't planning on getting into any kind of trouble. Just remember the punishments this school is willing to deal out."

You shrug, as Kudawa makes his way to his desk and begins to do work. "Asai, may I ask you a question?" he perks up before long.

"Sure sensei, go ahead?" you ask.

Kudawa pauses. "The teacher you had before me... this Takeshi boy... what was your view on him?"

"Excuse me?"

"It seems the other students aren't quite fond of me," Kudawa explains, "That may simply because I don't plan on allowing any of you an inch, but I wonder if it's due to some affection towards the man I replaced. From what I understood, the man is a complete fool, only suited to mop the floors, and I understand he is poor at that task as well. Still... perhaps there's something I'm missing."

>Nah, you aren't wrong. You're a huge improvement on our last teacher.
>Takeshi's a goofball, but the students love him.

>Nah, you aren't wrong. You're a huge improvement on our last teacher.
>Takeshi's a goofball, but the students love him.

"I don't understand," Kudawa mutters.

You scratch your head. "Well... it's hard to explain. He's dumb, and he wasn't very good at his job, but that's what people liked about him. He was fun, and he didn't feel like a teacher. He felt like a friend... a awkward, bumbling friend who was always making an ass of himself... but still a friend."

Kudawa pauses in thought. "I see... so he felt more like a friend to the students than a teacher... I can see the appeal. I doubt I'll follow in his footsteps, however."

You roll your eyes. This guy is completely joyless, isn't he? "Nevertheless," Kudawa mutters. "I would like to become more familiar with my students. This school is an... odd place, and the students seem to be just a strange. It's been difficult to get acquainted with it."

Of course... Kudawa isn't awakened. Unlike Takeshi or Tekina, he has no special powers. He's just an ordinary teacher. You find yourself forgetting that little detail often. "Well, I should get going," you reply.

"Indeed, no use waiting around here," Kudawa mutters. "Get moving, Asai... but don't be afraid to talk to me."

You step out into the hall and begin to walk down. As you do, you pass by Takeshi, struggling hopelessly to mop the floor. You'd think he would have gotten used to it by now.

"Oh h-hey Kazuma!" He exclaims, waving his hand out at you. "How's it going?"

In response, you give him a friendly high-five. Takeshi smiles as you continue to move on, before he immediately slips on the patch of floor he just mopped up. See? That's what people like.

You continue to wander around the school building, wondering where to head to next.

>Library

You decide to check out the school library. That place is often empty, and you have no doubt that it'll be even emptier now that Hikaru was replaced in her role as librarian... by Kaiya of all people. You're not sure how Kaiya was able to speak to someone without getting all creepy and predicting their death, let alone apply for a librarian position successfully.

You make your way down to the library, and as you open the door you hear the sounds of Tsuki's voice.

"Go ahead. Do it."

You open the door to see Tsuki confronting Kaiya at the library's front desk. Tsuki is leaning across that desk as Kaiya stares off into the distance, ignoring it.

"Come on, you freak," Tsuki goads her. "Do that thing where you tell me who you think I am, and how I'll die. I know you get off to it. Talk to me."

Kaiya calmly shakes her head, before Tsuki forcefully grabs her by the wrist. "Don't ignore me, freak. Just do it."

"Let go of her," you demand.

Tsuki smirks as he handily pulls his hand away. "Sure, anything on the behalf of my good friend Kazuma."

"We'll never be friends," you mutter.

"That's not up to you," Tsuki smirks. "Later, freak."

As Tsuki wanders off, Kaiya returns to casually stacking books without a care in the world.

>Wow, Tsuki's a dick.

>Are you okay?

"Hm?" Kaiya asks. "Whatever do you mean?"

You pause. "You know... what Tsuki was just doing to you? Are you okay?"

Kaiya continues to stack books as normal. "Of course. The Moon is pathetic. It feels angered that it lacks the scale and respect demanded from the sun, and lashes out at the earth with crashing waves. But it is harmless."

"Right..." you mutter. "So... you're librarian now. How did that happen?"

Kaiya continues to stack books without a word.

"Uhh..." you mumble. "Hello? I asked you a question."

"It was a question with an obvious answer. I do not bother with answering such."

"Well, I don't know the answer, no matter how obvious you think it is. How did you become librarian?"

"I asked," Kaiya explains simply.

You shake your head. It's near impossible to talk to this girl.

As she stacks the last book, Kaiya smiles satisfied to herself. "Now... the time has come for lunch."

Kaiya hops from her little stepladder and makes her way back to her desk, opening up a small container filled with meat... a lot of meat.

"A fan of steak, I take it?" you ask.

Kaiya smiles. "There are few things more satisfying than devouring the meat of the deceased. Wouldn't you agree?"

>When you put it like that, it sounds disgusting.

"Sharing?" Kaiya asks, as she looks over the container of meat. "Hmm... you may have a single piece."

"Thanks," you smile. "You know Kaiya, you're not as weird as you seem to let o-MPH!"

Your compliment is soon interrupted by a pair of chopsticks carrying a hunk of meat being shoved into your mouth. It stuffs your cheeks, as the burning hot gravy stings your tongue. You almost choke as Kaiya pulls the chopsticks out of your mouth and you struggle to chew.

"There. A single piece," Kaiya smiles. "Is it to your standards?"

You have to swallow the whole hunk of meat before giving Kaiya her answer. "I guess I got what I asked for. Thanks."

Kaiya nods, before beginning to tear away at the rest of the beef in the bowl like a wild carnivorous animal. It's an intimidating sight, where you almost wish she would go back to just being creepy with the prophecies again to spare you from looking at this.

As she finishes the last piece, Kaiya swallows it down before letting out a satisfied 'ah' and beginning to speak. "The Darkness fell," she mutters.

"Huh? You mean Yami?" you ask.

Kaiya nods. "A Stranger stepped into the darkness, and a spirit of justice was almost born."

"Spirit of... oh, you mean that stuff with ken," you reply. "Yeah... all of that happened. Can you... see it? Like Sayeka can?"

"No. Not see," Kaiya explains. "Feel. I feel the sensation, the creeping cold, the relieving wave of death... it comforts me."

>I think I'm starting to get you a little.

"No, you are not," Kaiya laughs as you raise an eyebrow.

"Yeah, I guess it'll take more than one conversation before I could ever understand someone like you," you chuckle.

Kaiya chuckles as well as she places her container away and wipes her mouth. "You are full of pain."

"Huh?"

Kaiya smiles. "Pain. You are filled with great pain, and you are looking for something to fill it... and so you hold out hope, and search for a shadow that is no longer there. You try to fill that hole, with meaningless things. Games, friendship, love... yet every time you see the Frozen Samurai, you find that hole growing bigger and bigger. The only thing that can fill it is the truth, a truth you yearn for, yet dare not know."

"What are you...?"

Kaiya shakes her head. "I have decided. I wish to speak to you again. But not now."

Now you're very confused. "You want to hang out sometime?"

"Yes. But I am finished with this conversation, and shall return to my books. Shoo."

"Did... did you just 'shoo' m-"

"Shoo."

You do as Kaiya commands, stepping out into the hallway. With a sigh, you see that it's getting dark. It's a safe day, but you should probably go back to the dorms before long. Still, you should seek out another member of your club before you do.

>Alice

You decide to check up on the only person as confusing in their speech sometimes as Kaiya. Trying to find her, you wander around the school corridors, no idea where she could be. After all, Alice is a free spirit, the type to just wander off wherever she wants at times.

Eventually, you manage to find the dreamer... snoozing on top of some lockers.

"Hey... Alice?" you say, trying to catch her attention. She continues to sleep, so you shake the lockers a little. "Alice!"

As you shake the lockers, Alice comes tumbling off, landing right on top of you. You groan in pain as Alice's eyes open, her soft body resting atop yours.

"Oh, hello!" she smiles, rising up, still sitting on your chest. "What are you doing?"

"Alice? You mind getting off me?" you ask.

Alice rises to her feet and proceeds to help you to yours. "What were you even doing up on those lockers?"

"Napping!" Alice laughs.

"Right..."

Alice runs her hands through her hair, flattening some of the stray hairs formed by her sloppy sleeping arrangements and her subsequent fall. "I've also been thinking about something!"

"Oh?" you ask. "And what's that?"

"I was thinking..." Alice mumbles. "I should go see my sister!"

You pause. "Your... what?"

"My sister!" Alice explains. "She lives in town, and I really, really want to see her! Except... she's an old lady now... and she thinks I'm dead... so I don't know if it's a good idea. I'm... scared. What do you think?"

>I don't think it's a good idea. You'll just freak that woman out.

>You should do it. And if it doesn't work out, you still have a family here.

"A family?" Alice asks. "Well, I have my niece... is one person still a family?"

"I'm not just talking those that are blood related," you explain. "But you also have me, and Io, and Kiriko... your friends are your family too."

"They are?" Alice asks. "Oh, I get it! So... the pirate girl... she's like my sister. And so is the merchant! And Ryoji is like my brother! And the big boy is like my... uncle! Are you my husband? Or another brother? I have a lot of brothers and sisters now... wow, this is so cool!"

"Why would I be your... nevermind," you shake your head. "The point is, we're your family, and you're ours."

"Okay!" Alice smiles. "Then I'm going to go see my sister first chance I get! My niece is coming with me already, but... can you come too?"

"Sure," you smile. "Anything for you."

"Yay!" Alice smiles, before looking out the window. "Wow... I slept all afternoon! Haha! Let's go back to the dorms!"

Alice eagerly holds your hand as the two of you make your way back to the dorms. As you arrive, you decide to check on Kiriko to see how she's doing. You open the door... the immediately shut it, as you are greeted by the back of a shirtless Mayu.

"Oh god, I'm sorry!" you call out, wishing this was the first time you made a mistake like this. "I really should have knocked!"

There's no answer, but you can feel Mayu blushing from here.

"It's okay to enter now..."

You open the door, now greeted by a red-faced Mayu in her polka dot pajamas. "Calling it an early night?" you ask.

Mayu solemnly nods as she climbs onto the top bunk of the bed. She rolls over and begins to sleep as you turn to Kiriko, who is firmly wrapped up in blankets.

"How are you feeling?" you ask.

"About the same as this morning..." Kiriko sighs. "Still crummy."

It's then that you notice the familiar bowl on the bedside table. A bowl that clearly was once filled with soup.

>Did Roka drop by?

Kiriko pouts, a little red in the face. "The dumb ape? Yeah, he came in shortly after you left. Idiot didn't even knock, he just barged right in!"

Sounds like Roka, that guy has absolutely no tact.

"He came in with a bowl of soup," Kiriko explains. "He said he made too much, and then I asked if he brought some for me... I was surprised. I didn't expect him to do something that nice for someone he doesn't even get along with... but then when I asked, he got angry and denied it, said he was just bragging that he had soup and I didn't. Then, in his angry yelling, he spilled the soup over me! I yelled at him some more, he yelled at me some more, then he tried wrapping me up in blankets... then he bolted. What an ape..."

You can't help but notice that despite her frustrated tone, Kiriko is speaking with a smile on her face. "I don't get it, Kiriko... are you friends with that guy or aren't you?"

"We're not friends!" Kiriko protests. "I hate him, and he hates me! Ugh, he's just a constant pain!"

You shrug, and ask Kiriko is she wants you to grab her something else.

"Yeah, make some tea!" Kiriko asks. "Enough for me and Mayu!"

You step out into the common room, where you see Kuin sitting on the couch, with Amaya applying some salve to her scraped knee. Soon, Gado comes bursting into the room, worried about her. "Kuin! What happened?"

"Gado!" Kuin whines. "When I ran way from you, I wanted to hide... so I climbed a tree! I was hiding up there all afternoon... then the branch snapped, and I fell and scraped my knee!"

"Dammit..." Gado grimaces, clenching his fist. "I'm so sorry Kuin... I let you down. I don't deserve to be called your-"

"It's okay!" Kuin laughs.

"It's... okay?" Gado asks.

"When I saw her fall, she cried for 20 minutes," Amaya smiles. "But after that, she was beaming with pride."

"It was fun!" Kuin laughs. "I've never had a fall like that before! And it was because I climbed a tree!"

"Yeah..." Gado smiles. "Come on, let's get you some ice-cream."

Gado picks Kuin up like a child, allowing for her to hug close into him, hanging off his body as he turns to Amaya. "You took care of her, blondie?"

"Well, I just patched up her scrapes as any good person would!" Amaya beams happily.

"Thanks... see, this is why I like you," Gado smirks. "That and your ass."

"Even when thanking me you're vulgar..." Amaya pouts, as Gado chuckles, carrying a smiling Kuin away.

"He's so good with that girl..." Amaya remarks. "Sometimes, I wonder..."

"Wonder what?" you ask.

"I wonder whether he's a good man or a bad one..." Amaya asks. "Oh, and now that you're here... I have to ask! Are the rumours true?"

"What rumours?" you ask.

"You know!" Amaya smiles. "About the... angels. They say Ken Tajiri began to turn into one when you fought the demon."

"You sound nervous," you remark. "I would have figured you'd be relieved to have your faith proven."

"Oh, I am!" Amaya smiles. "I'm very happy about that, but... if people can become angels, then that would mean... umm, never-mind!"

Amaya rushes off back to her room, as you make your way to the kitchen area and start making tea. As you do, you see Anri entering the room, a book pressed up to her face.

"Hey, how's it going?" you ask.

Anri drops the book to look at you. "Oh... I was simply reading up on some of these reports."

"Reports?" you ask. "Where the hell did you get those?"

"Saki Kobashi entrusted me with some of this information," Anri explains. "She believed that with my deductive reasoning skills, I could help get to the bottom of a certain mystery on their hands."

"And that is?" you ask.

Anri hesitates before speaking. "I suppose I can trust you with this information, Kazuma. You see, Ryoji Shida's Archdemon... The Stranger, has been sensing something odd on school grounds lately. The presence of an Archdemon that appears for a moment, then quickly disappears, concealing it's power for long periods at a time. Alice's demon has sensed it as well, and under recent interrogation, Yami admits to feeling it as well."

"So... what?" you ask. "There's a demon on campus? I mean... another demon on campus?"

"That's not all..." Anri mutters. "Do you remember our class excursion into the Darkworld yesterday?"

"It was pretty uneventful," you remark.

Anri sighs. "Yes... but there was something odd that I noted. During our fight with that region's guardian... I noticed a spot of blood on the ground that seemed off. I didn't see who spilled the blood, but I retrieved it in a vial, and once we returned it became clear... the blood was black. Demon blood, and it came from one of us... I fear this might mean something truly awful..."

"You can't be saying..." you begin.

"Yes..." Anri sighs. "I fear that not only is there a demon on campus... it's in our class."

>What are your predictions on this supposed demon in Class 1?
I don't think it's one of the more unknown members of the class and Kaiya, Tsuki and Taiyo are too mysterious but not in the secretly Archdemon kind of way so my bet goes to Io or Mayu.

Ryoji's episodes more relaxed and trying to help the students to awaken their angel powers, Kaz episodes going back to investigating and looking for the archdemon and improving the social links and overall chemistry between the class.
