Alright you lot, don't forget the plan we made after the home alone section.

We plug the shit out of the Norihime Home Security System with the powerful (and completely true) pitch that it weakened some S-class nin enough that by the end a group of genin were able to kill one.

We use this as leverage to secure major contracts for the reconstruction of Konoha, perhaps plying the Fire Daimyo's graces to help secure them if need be.

And if it works, then when all is said and done, Konoha will be both rebuilt and fortified and Norihimecorp will be rolling in the wealth.

I'm eagerly anticipating the final bodycount.

A gentle breeze blows, and the light of the morning sun begins to spill over your face.

Your eyes flutter open- and you groan.

Glancing around the room, you can see little has changed.

After the chaos following Kurama’s sealing, Hinata’s father had offered you and your father a place to stay within the Hyuga compound. Father declined, of course- scarcely resting long enough for the medical-nin to heal him before declaring he was off to the Capital, to speak with the Daimyo.

You couldn’t fault him, though- Konoha would need more protection in the days to come, while her people focused on rebuilding.

You decided to take the Hyuga up on their offer- the compound was near enough to the hospital to make the trip every day, and it was certainly better than staying in a hospital room.


“Tsuki-hime!~” HInata’s voice calls from outside the room.


“You’re about to miss breakfast!” She announces, before sliding open the door to the room.

Seeing that you’re still in bed, she pouts.

“Honestly! Without Maru here to wake you each morning, you rise like a stone! C’mon- I’ll help you up.” She teases.

Firmly grasping your good hand, she gently helps you stand. You still wince a little, though the Medical-nin have given you some medicine to help with the pain.

Hinata turns politely while you dress- which, thankfully, you can do on your own. Once you’ve changed, she helps push your hair, and you begin idle chatter.

Just a thought about Neji, if we do decide to go up to bat for him and bail him out of the treason charges, we need to establish with him (preferably not directly) that we aren't actually interested in him romantically.

As you turn to face her, you can see the slight frown on her lips.

“Medical shinobi are still maintaining her condition, but it really hasn’t improved. They’ve been treating her in shifts, as not to exhaust themselves. At this rate, they don’t know if she’s ever going to recover.”

“Lord Jiraiya set off yesterday in search of Lady Tsunade, taking Nori and Naruto with him.” Hinata says, predicting your next line of inquiry.

“Just the three of them? Isn’t that a little dangerous?” You ask.

“Maybe- but neither of them were going to sit idly by and watch their mother suffer. Besides- those Akatsuki people probably think the fox was destroyed, rather than resealed. I’d be surprised if they were actively searching for them- they’re probably lying low somewhere safe.” Hinata guesses.

“It’s still risky, but I suppose we have no choice. If anybody can keep them safe, hopefully that perverted sage can.” You pout.

“Lord Jiraiya is probably the only one who can find her, you know. She’s been away from Konoha nearly fifteen years.” Hinata says.

“Let’s hope he’s good on his word, then. Kushina needs her help.” You say, your pout turning into a frown.


A moment of silence passes between you, the mood turning somewhat dour. Hinata eventually takes the initiative, however, leading you by the hand out into the sun.


“C’mon! We need to eat- no need to dwell on other’s missions. From what I understand, Shimura-san is coming soon, to talk to my father, and well as you. You need to be ready!”

“Ready for Danzo? Please, Hinata.” You laugh.

She pouts again. “He’s just so… intense. I don’t know how you interact with him so easily.”

You laugh again- and she joins you, as the two of you walk to the dining hall.

You will admit, however, that your old caretaker has changed over the last few days. Seemingly spurred on by the danger to Konoha- or possibly the death of the Third, who was his friend- Danzo has taken a much more active role in Konoha’s affairs. The people, for their part, seem to have welcomed his assistance and wisdom, even if somewhat warily at first. It’s a shame that this is what it took for them to welcome him back.

After a pleasant breakfast in the dining hall, Hinata’s prediction comes true. Escorted by several Aburame men, Danzo enters the Hyuga compound. He quickly dismisses the men, who leave to pursue some other goal.

Hiashi and Danzo greet each other amicably and with respect, before the elder Hyuga leads him into the dining hall.

“I’ll receive you in the meeting hall shortly, Shimura-san. Tsuki is with my daughter, so I’m sure you’ll want to check in with her. I’ll have the reports ready by the time you’re finished.” Hiashi says, pointing over to where you and Hinata are sitting.

“Ah, very well, Thank you for receiving me so readily- we must take full consideration of the status of each clan as we rebuild. While the immediate danger is gone, our home is still under threat- especially with the absence of the Fourth. I won’t keep you waiting too long. Excuse me.” Danzo says, parting with Hiashi.

His stern features lighten when he sees you- although, maybe you’re the only one that can tell?


You rise, giving the elder shinobi a light hug with your free arm.

“Good to see you, Tsuki. I presume the Hyuga are treating you well?” He inquires.

“Very well, Danzo. I could scarcely ask for a better place to recover. Sit with me a moment? I would hear how events are progressing for Konoha.” You ask.

“How could I decline? You deserve to know as much as everyone else.” He says, following you back to the table.

As he sits, Hinata greets him respectfully, although you can tell she’s a bit nervous.

“Please, Hinata-chan, no need for formalities; I owe your family much for taking care of Tsuki while her father is away. Your father has proven a major help in our endeavors to keep Konoha safe while we rebuild.”

Hinata nods, but says little. Seems that she’s still slightly intimidated by Danzo- or his reputation.

Danzo sits, resting his cane on the table as he does so with his free hand, his other arm bound within his robes.

A conference to choose the new Hokage… while you never agreed with the man’s leadership style, Minato’s disappearance is not good for Konoha’s reputation. Hopefully the proceedings to choose his replacement go smoothly… and select someone who can be relied upon.

Taki (and indeed, spies from the other nations) would realize quickly that she hadn't died or been taken in the crush simply by word of mouth because of her prominence in the post-crush village. Nothing short of silencing everyone in Konoha on that matter would make it even remotely possible; that's why it's such an unreasonable thing to suggest.

Unless you have something better than "Danzo would be able to make it work somehow" there's nothing more to discuss.

I don't even want to adopt Fuu, I just want to befriend her and let her know that, whatever weirdness goes down, she at least has a friend out there.
