Last time on Cabin Control Z....

James had just figured out the ancient mystical art of the jump scare after using his manipulation technique to get [THE WHORE] into a cave.

In that cave lay the mighty dragon who awoke and toasted the fleeing victim.

Meanwhile at Capsule Corp. They're so fucked Shenron couldn't help out.

Seeing the devestation of her friend and comrade, [THE SCHOLAR] achieved her true potential and began to run the fuck away.

Will she make it back to the cabin with her footage? Just who is the strange man from the future calling himself HARRY? Find out on this exciting episode of Cabin Control Z

"Change the wind. Let's get our new friend seconds." You command and are pleased to see C45513 and hansen on their ball. A game. that's what you meant their A game.

You think.

But as Glaurung's snout twitches as he lifts a head half the size of your little cabin. [THE SCHOLAR] stops her filming instantly. She sucks her finger and holds it up and immediately panics.

She heads paralell to the wind like the clever bitch she is, making sure to stay in the foliage and woods.

Your dragon lazily stirs and extricates himself from the cave to which he was usmmoned. In no rush to pursue her.

But wings that have not flapped since time immemoriam extend, membranes straining with muscle memory hard coded into eons old memories.

With a single graceful flap of the terrifying wings; an ancient force of nature takes flight. Taking to the air as if lifting the metrci fuckton of tonnes of weight were nothing.

Even your hair stands on end at the sight.

Is it possible to make a plank give out on someone's leg to hurt them? That's help limit movement to use the RV and prevent running in the woods.

You watch [THE SCHOLAR] as she moves in a slow determined arc, one eye on the skies as she nimbly dodges the many ensnaring roots and brambles.

Clever girl. Making sure to stay in the coverage of the thickest branches but not stupid enough to go hurtling through the forest at top speed; despite her evident panic.

Shit. Your dragon is circling around breathing smoke out of his ass. He's not exactly got hawk eyes and this chick for some reason seems savvy to the fact she's fucking escaping from the big bastard.

Well... in the wrong direction anyhow.

Considering [THE FOOL]'s ability, I think keeping those 3 together is the best path. Separating them begs for fudging the order.

You ring the man who asked you out a few hours ago with all the haste of a hungover sloth, "HARRY got any incendiaries in the forest you could-" You don't even finish when you suddenly see the forest between [THE SCHOLAR] and the cabin turn into a bonfire. It's like you're in Califronia.

HARRY didn't say anything from call start to hangup. You are concerned.

"Easing up on the rain so we don't extinguish that fire James." Hansen reports.

"Death by dragon, death by inferno or death from exposure. She's fucked." Susan states.

Tech, what do we have to make unstable ground? Disorient her and serve her up to Puff over there.

Unstable how?

Ground is wet and slick from rain.

You flick some switches and your monitors leave the little game of cat, mouse and fire; in favour of the many layered cameras of the cabin.

[THE ATHLETE] is withering under the gaze of [THE FOOL] the homoesexual she tried to seduce glaring full on claymores as opposed to daggers.

[THE VIRGIN] is drinking pretty heavily while he cooks, picking up fromt he task long since abandoned by the scholar. From their point of view it's lucky that the cooker is an old gas model as opposed to it being hooked up to the now dead generator.

From the basement trapdoor's indents; you reckon somebody took a boot to it in an attempt to get down and fix the generator.

All said; awkwardness in te living room, confusion and concern in the kitchen as [THE VIRGIN] wonders where the two women went in this weather.

"Looks like a real party in there." C45513 drily remarks.

"Yeah turns out calling a gay guy a faggot and throwing it in his face makes him a bit miffed." You reply.

"Well boss, while the ginger is playing hide and seek with big red. We probably have time to do whatever we want or need to in here." Hansen chimes in.

"Reports say that one of the labs has cleared in chem. We're about 10% clean. It's.... not looking good." Susan reports grimly and if her face is grim... shit.shit.shit.

"Well let's go to work." You say rolling your knuckles despite your rising disatisfaction.

You look across the screens as they flare into kaleidascopes of red and black. Yellow writing being embossed over DANGER in sixteen different languages.

Madrid: SITE LOST MONSTERS LOOSE! GOODBYE SPAIN! THE WHOLE COUNTRY WIL BE DEAD BY DAWN!
Stockholm: SITE LOST, EVERYTHING IS PAIN

"Carl the caption guy on point again this year. You groan, in disbelief. "How can a ritual fail so badly that not only do the sacrifices find your god damn site, they also manage to release every single monster you fucking have?!" You say as you launch a keyboard across the room. "See this is what I was tlaking about! You all said-"

"James James calm down. There's no big red button. We listened to you." Hansen says as placatingly as possible, getting up out of his chair to get in your eyeline as you pace about like a caged beast.

"This is the kind of shit that happens! You get lax, you have a button that is stupidly labeled self destruct or stupidly opens the all the stables for cleaning! I fucking knew it, I fucking knew something like this would happen! And only The Director and you listened to me!"

Susan actually has a hand on her holster, "What's going on with him."

"James, listen to me. We need you to focus up. Go take a drink. Take a walk to the lobby, hell take the lift to he surface. I can run the show for a while." He says putting a fatherly arm round you as you briefly hyperventilate.

"Shit. Fuck shit fuck fuck shit fuck. Fuck shit fuck fuck shit fuck. Shit. Fuck shit fuck fuck shit fuck. Fuck shit fuck fuck shit fuck." You mutter to yourself as you hold your head in your hands.

"Hansen I'm going out. Take the wheel." You say trying to ignore the pairs of eyes staring at you as you briskly walk from the room.

You pass concerned faces, see scientists, miantenance and stable workers all rushing about in haste but you feel their eyes on you. You feel all of them stare.

They're wondering what's wrong. You know they are. One of them is going to ask and you wont have an answer, so you just need to march up this corridor as quick as you can.

It has been nine years to the day since your last attack, this time there's no Eddie here to coach you through it. "Shit. Fuck shit fuck fuck shit fuck. Fuck shit fuck fuck shit fuck. Shit. Fuck shit fuck fuck shit fuck. Fuck shit fuck fuck shit fuck." You mutter to yourself as your find yourself unable to work the card scanner that leads to the outside.

"Let me get that for you Jim." a familiar voice says. A hand pushes the door open and hooks your arm; both of you emerging into a brisk autumn night. The director, all the panic sweat, hyperventilation and fear is gone.

Replaced with cold terror. "How are you feeling Jim?"

You pause as her robotic gaze castrates any bravery, showmanship and bullshit left in you. "I'm concerned about the other facilites. We're doing fine with the ritual itself but-"

"The failures. Yes," she cuts you off. While I am sure you well know the consequences of this ritual failing it appears some do not. Whether it is a case of people becoming much too lax or something more sinister is yet unforeseen." She says stoicly, "With the annihalation of the Spanish and Swedish sites two directors have expired. In the case of Spain a full stable has been unleashed onto the unsuspecting innocents who called this country home/"

"Holy Shit." you exhale, you knew it was bad but you didn't think they'd actually...

"Iberia will be purged. Either by nuclear or biochemical weaponry. The remaining directors will decide once we have read the stable data to understand what we are purging." She addresses the lovely orange leaf swaying in the breeze as much as she is you. By this time tomorrow maps will need to be redrawn. She pauses and turns her penetrating gaze on you, "What do you think is causing our rituals to faill Jim, you've always had an affinity for accurate hunches."

"I... really don't know. One of the monsters could have been plotting since capture. Dragons have a long long time to scheme and they could bring us down in a way we've enver seen coming." You begin with a sigh.

"Yes when Dragon was selected one of my chief concerns was ensuring it did not find a way to escape containment. But you are not done are you?"

"Hansen and I did think of the possibility of sabotage. Some kind of doomsday cult or Ancient worsippers might have managed to elude the background checks." You begin pacing again, "Maybe we're all just getting too secure, too casual and lax. And that includes security. No matter how many times we tell everyone the world will end if we fuck up; if we suceed long enough that danger goes away."

"Not everyone has our experience with these matters. You are right. The idea of deception and espionage is one I will be looking into, any threats to our organization will be dealt with swiftly and forcefully. The director's voice wavers a little, showing an actual emotion.

Fury.

"That's not to ignore the elephant in the room. It could be the Ancient Ones." You say it in practically a whisper and you hear The Director crush the falling leaf by your side. "I mean. Maybe with the other sites' failures they're getting bored. Restless or maybe they want to cause drama by fucking with us? Maybe we're becoming the sacrifices? A formula stays fresh with a twist after all. All it would take is the setting up of another secretive conspiracy. It wouldn't be too hard, if we focus on hiding and containing we're not looking for puppetmasters?"

"Jim." The name cuts through your babbling. "I will take your opinions under advisement. Even the ramblings of a man nearing his limit have merit, perhaps more so in our business. But now you must head back inside. Yo have a job, a calling. It is the most important seat in human existense and you must fill it James Henderson. She gives you a sympathetic look as you pass her, "Create and Entertain them. I will handle things in the backend."

So I did the math.
>Spain & Sweden - need 17+ to pass, 20% chance
>UK and Germany - Need 16+ to pass, 25% chance
>Japan - Need 15+ to pass, 30% chance.

The odds of all five of them failing the same year is 25.2% Meaning one out of every four years we have to be the one saving grace.

Let's also assume that from an objective perspective, the US is as good as Japan in rituals - that they get the same +1 bonus, and therefore need a 15+ to pass.

The probability of all six ritual sites failing (assuming each ritual is independent of the others, which seems to be the case) is .80*.80*.75*.75*.70*.70=0.1764

17.64% of the time, all six ritual sites SHOULD fail. We should have five successful years and the sixth year everything goes to shit and the ancient ones devour us.

How long has this ritual been going on? Decades? Centuries?

How many times has that 17% chance NOT hit?

Given that, can anyone be surprised if the Ancient Ones want to fuck with it?
>>
>>905867

That's XCOM baby.

In novel Canon the oldest confirmed ritual is 15 years ago. (open to arguement, I consider over a decade to be in mid because someone mentions a dozen rituals at some point)

In our canon since the 80s and ritual three is 2012.
>>
>>905916
ritual three? as in the current version of the ritual?
What happened to like ancient rituals throwing girls into volcanos etc.
>>
>>905936

Ritual three as in one after this one.

Only so many ways a woman can scream falling and burn. The black death is a cover for what happened when they warned us to get a new ritual.

I'm making that up.

Quick session post dinner if this thread isn't autosaged?
>>
>>905916
going by the logic that 15 years ago refers to the year before our first ritual, this will be year 17 - 16 years of dodging that DEATH scenario is 4.40%. Assuming 1985 was the start, we'd gone from then to 2010 successfully, which is 25 years.

The odds of never hitting that 17% chance in 25 tries is 0.78% Just a bit more than 1-in-128 odds. So it's PRETTY RARE but at the same time not UNFATHOMABLY rare.
>>
>>906006
well i think we can assume that this year's odds are a bit different than normal what with the sabotage/cultists/ancient one meddling that's going to necessitate an exterminatus of spain

Your files say this kid is monkishly dedicated to his training and giving him the chance to talk about that is... well frighteningly effective. His beer, contents changed tastelessly to the cabin special, is sending blood to all the right places i his brain and making him nice and stupid.

And that cheerleader is tight in the right places and big in the right places. If the kid isn't as gay as his brother and not blind enough to see the signs...

[THE FOOL] enters, "You guys seen Jane or Nats? I know Jane went to go get stuff from the RV, but Jane ran out the back door an hour ago..." He says.

"Why don't you check on her? Your brother will have everyone's food ready when you get back?" Elidh pouts as she recieves a death glare.

Pouty Face activates

"Dont' worry Bro. This'll be another ten minutes. Plenty of time right?" [THE VIRGIN] says obliviously.

[THE FOOL] grabs a thick jacket and hat that was left in the cabin for just such a circumstance and begins heads out. He looks up and sniffs the air frowning.

What can we expect the Fool to do from now?

How can we reliably separate the Athlete and the Virgin, when needed?

Is the Scholar dead yet? This is important.
>>
>>906074
I'm pretty sure [THE FOOL] should've noticed [THE ATHLETE]'s plan, as she is physically embracing the poor schmuck [VIRGIN]'s arm.

And didn't we lock the cabin?

>>906154
We need to separate Athlete and Virgin 10 minutes ago, it'd be much better to get the twins together.

We could have [THE FOOL] send a message to his brother to be careful of the woman, or something of the like to get him to go out. Pouty Face must have a cooldown between uses.
Then we can burn [THE ATHLETE]'s hands or sic the dragon on the cabin.

Here comes the alien cultist!

Cabin lockdown lifted so you could dick around elsewhere. Can't have everything locked down everywhere AND let you fuck with the outside or it's not even a quest at that point.

Havingthe scholar live would be beneficial.

Seconding this text, bring some suspicion back into the ATHLETE's and VIRGIN's interactions

"C45513, could you do me a favour and have Tweedle Dee tell Tweedle Dumb about the big bad witch via text? I don't want our virgin getting lucky." You say as your prosepctive hero vanishes into the storm.

"Alright boss I'll spare you the specifics since it's a long story." Your hologram says with a salute, she's apparently taken to wearing some kind of military uniform.

But you're left with an important decision

And when he is running from the Dragon have tech have him pocket dial his bro so he can hear the screaming and whatnot. That should get him out of the mood.

I like this plan, then if he does go running out of the cabin we can lure the Dragon over to burn it down with the ATHLETE inside

Don't you know following fools is a good way to get into trouble?

Seconded.

Are we able to speak with sentient monsters in the stables? It might be a good/terrible idea to see what someone like Nyarlathotep has to say about the recent disasters. After we wrap this ritual up of course.

Is this quest still even active?

Probably just RL stuff came up. OPs other quest hasn't ran for a while either and they've been pretty good about keeping that going for a while even with some shit turnout. Unless Star died, then it isn't active.
