~~~Episode 3: Smoke and Mirrors~~~
Your name is Belinda Artemisa. Your friends call you Bee.
And you are the fastest woman alive.
The past two days have been a wild ride, with Wednesday bringing you face-to-face for the second (and hopefully last) time with Doctor Caitlin Snow. Thursday brought a deeper friendship with your study partner, the raven hair beauty Dyna, and an emotional heart-to-heart with your best friend and bespectacled roommate, Tabby. The concert last night would have been a good end to the day if Robert Rathaway hadn’t come to play, transforming the entirety of downtown Central City into a lunatic mob until you stopped them.
You know what? Friday night isn’t going too swell, either. The thought crosses your mind just as a fist made of pure darkness socks you in the gut and sends you flying, robbing your lungs of air. Fighting a Meta literally composed of shadow stuff at night is going right on your list of truly terrible, horrible ideas.
Yeah, things could be going better.
“Leave me alone, Flywheel.” A voice echoes from the darkness, a sound like a hundred layered voices speaking in unison from the alley where you chased it, “You don’t have any idea what’s going on here.”
“Then…ow…then *explain* it to me!” you wheeze, staggering to your feet. “If you tell me why you’ve been hurting so many people this past month, I…”
You see the thing move in the darkness, and you realize it’s done talking.
>COMBAT: You have two gauges, Hit Points (HP) and Kinetic Potential (KP). Kinetic Potential is built by actively absorbing energy from organic (less effective) or inorganic (more effective, but usually more difficult) sources, and is also built up by sustaining damage. KP fuels actions, with weak, moderate, strong and lethal moves being written in and performed by rolling 1d100 and using 25, 50, 75, or 100% of the KP gauge, respectively.
An onyx tendril slices towards your chest, and you only have a second to react...but to you, that’s all the time in the world…
>HP: 92% /// KP: 16%
>A: Catch the tendril, absorb what you can (roll 1d100 for success, high risk).
>B:Dodge the tendril and try to touch some of the dark patches where this guy’s power seems to be gathering (roll 1d100 for success, low risk).
>C: Dodge as best you can, study its moves to see if you can find a weak point (roll 2d100, low risk).
>D: Try to reason with him, one last time. Write-in. (roll 1d100, no risk).
You surge away in a whirlwind of black cloth and crimson lightning from the darkness of the alley you’re facing, an onyx tendril slicing past where your face was a fraction of a second before.
“Listen damn it, I can *help* you. The people you’ve hurt have had records, and hurt people themselves...if you just explain why you…”
The voice in the darkness cut you off with a scream of punctuated rage from a thousand people woven together, glittering black eyes flashing at you from the shadows as their volume grows.
“Flywheel. They. Are Not. People. They are MONSTERS, and they deserve what they get. You couldn’t possibly understand.”
“Tell me why, and I can help! I have connections, if they really deserve justice, I can get it for you…”
The ambient noise of the city is you only answer. They’re gone…whoever they are.
You breathe a sigh that’s mixed with frustration and relief. Back to square one, but with your life.
Your feet ride the lightning back home, to Tabby’s side.
“You should have told me you were going out, I could have backed you up!” Tabby chides you as she gently places an ice pack on your bruised abdomen. You’re out of your costume and back in your comfortable sweat pants and sports bra, your medium length red hair in a mess around you as you rest on the couch. You wince slightly at the cold, getting uncomfortable memories of you duel with Doctor Snow.
“Tabs, you had to study for Midterms, I’m fine.” You reply after settling the ice, looking through the petite brunette’s perfectly round glasses and into her amber eyes. She arches one eyebrow.
“…I *was* fine…okay, yeah, I messed up.” You relent, as Tabby’s usual smile spreads across her face.
“After your speech to me yesterday, I would have thought you’d let me get more involved in you being Flywheel…it was a *very* good speech, after all.”
She gives you a playful wink and a boop on the nose before bouncing off to go make the evening’s dinner.
Well, Friday night’s been a wash…you consider you options for the morning as you glance at Dyna’s text you received before you left the house…
:Dyna: “Hey there, Speedy. >:P Hows ur satday look? I got plans 2night, but I kina wanted to touch base after the concert. Discuss the fast-paced music, ya? ;)”
Well, that’s *two* people that know who you are, now. You offer a silent prayer in the hopes that the list doesn’t grow as you weight your options for the morning. You intern at CCPD tomorrow, but in the morning…
>A: Oh yeah, you had that chat with Professor Atticus tomorrow morning, early…gah, you hate to let him down but sleeping in is *so* tempting right now.
>B: Cancel your appointments, stay home with Tabby. She had a worse night that you at the concert, and you two need some R & R.
By the third time you knock, you decide to test the handle, and the door wings opens at your touch revealing an empty room. You glance around, seeing a room filled to bursting with books on quantum theory, variations on the many-worlds hypothesis, and other books whose purpose you can only guess at. It looks like Professor Atticus uses this place as a makeshift home away from home, given the blankets and mini-fridge....a note with your name on it finally catches your eye atop a nest of files on his desk, some of which bear the label of the Central City Police Department.
Opening it, you find a hastily scrawled apology, saying he was called down to the CSI lab to offer his expertise (but he’s a physics professor?) on a Metahuman case they’re tackling…
Huh...well,that’s one way to get out of it...you glance at your phone, and still no reply from Dyna...what gives? Do you want to…
>A: Search for Dyna...you have a decent idea where she lives, and normally when you two are working on a project, she’s blowing up your phone and getting Tabs to give you weird looks...you’re starting to get worried….
>B: Swing by CCPD and check on Atticus...you could kill two birds with one stone, seeing him and being there well before you’re needed in the lab.
>C: Go ahead and pick Tabby up some Chinese now and leave a note for her when she get back from class, then head to CCPD (write-in note)
You resolve to find Dyna. Something just doesn’t feel right. You turn towards the door and…
“Professor, are you…oh. You’re not the Professor, certainly not.”
....You turn towards the door to find yourself face-to-face with a pair of coke-bottle glasses that rival Tabby’s. Their wearer doesn’t even flinch at the two of you being in such close proximity, and merely stands there placidly as you back away into Atticus’ office. You recognize this guy...Evan...Spiegel? Scudder? You’re pretty sure it was Spiegel.
“Oh, hey. Atticus went down to the CCPD...did you have an appointment with him, too?” You ask, regaining your composure and reaching out a hand in greeting, “I’m Belin…”
“You’re Bee Artemisa, classmate of Dyna Bivolo, yes? Yes, certainly.” He chimes in with a smile. “The professor boasts of you quite a bit. Boast of her. Boasts of both of you.”
….okay, This guy is making all sorts of alarm bells go off. A meta?
No...he isn’t giving you any of the vibes that a usual meta would in close proximity…he’s just unnerving, the way he’s looking around, glasses reflecting the world back at it with no hint of deeper thought behind his uninterested grey eyes.
“I...I’m going to meet up with a friend. I’ll see you later, I guess?”
“We will see each other, yes.” Spiegel replies, adjusting his glasses so that all you can see is your own reflection in the lenses. “You will see Miss Dyna sooner, I presume. Tell me Bee, is what everyone says true?”
“I...what are you talking about?”
He simply smiles.
“Ah...you two need to be true to yourselves...it makes things so much less complicated. Unless you have someone else in mind…”
You know what? You don’t have to deal with any more of this assholle. You shove your way past him, and the damn creeper still doesn’t move, just watching you make your way down the hall and, once you’re out of sight, to the edge of Downtown Central City.
It takes you the better part of a half hour to finally locate Bee’s curiously multicolored Vespa Scooter parked outside a ramshackle apartment complex, whose door opens easily, with no lock to bar your way. You glance back at her scooter, chuckling to yourself that as the only possession she seems to have with any color in it, the riot of colors she’s chose to brand it with certainly make her stand out.
Making your way inside, you glance around her apartment...it looks like she lives alone, or at least has a roommate with similar fashion sense. Dark clothes are scattered hither and yon, and you shuffle along, carefully trying to avoid stepping on anything delicate hidden by her...well, delicates, as you call her name.
“Dyna? Hey, you didn’t reply so I...um…”
You realize that you just found her apartment without asking her, and entered with the same lack of permission...well, forgiveness trumps permission, right? Or is it the other way around…
“Bee?”
You nearly jump out of your skin when her voice calls out to you from a door that had opened so quietly you hadn’t even noticed.
“Dyna! I tried texting you and you...are...did I come at a bad time?”
“No, man….why?” she asks quizzically, a bit of toothpaste on her lower lip as the brush dangles from her lengthy fingers. She stands before you, in the shirt she wore yesterday to the concert...and a black, plain pair of underwear that you are most certainly not looking at you are making good eye contact, yes Sir you are. She blinks bleary eyes at you, using her other hand to rub at the dark circles under her eyes.
“Just, um...head to the living room,” she gestures, dropping a bit of foamy past on the floor, “You were almost at it, I’ll be out in a sec.”
She shuts the door in your face, and leave you alone to turn to the living room. It’s pretty sparse of anything that isn’t notebook paper and clothes, but you do see that there are some impressively colorful sketches littered among the exam papers and crumpled-up research drafts. In addition, you see her phone, You have a second or two before she arrives, you could…
>A: Shuffle through some of her sketches (at high speed of course), they look pretty cool...
You wait patiently for Dyna to get finished in the bathroom, glancing around at her living room with a threadbare but uncluttered sofa. You spy a calendar that is still stuck on last month as you settle on Dyna’s couch, with the fourth day circled in black pen with some writing in it. You squint to make it out a little better, but you can’t quite…
“So what brings you by, Busy Bee~?”
You start, jumping a little and turning your attention to Dyna who…okay, she must be *very* comfortable, as your eyes climb her bare legs and painfully notice she didn’t bother to change at all. She arches as eyebrow at you, shining green eyes staring down at you in amusement.
“Aw, do I make you jumpy~?” she smiles, settling down beside you on the couch and crossing her legs as you scoot off to the side to give her and her legs plenty of space. You struggle to piece words together…
“I…no, I was just worried about you, is all…”
Her smile starts to fade, and you notice just how tired her viridian eyes seem to be.
“I’m fine.” She says sternly, glancing you up and down, “Just didn’t sleep well the last two nights, what with my new friend being Central City’s Savior and fending off crazed nut-jobs from your best friend, I…”
Her stern expression softens, and she turns her aquamarine eyes to stare into yours.
“I…I’m sorry I worried you. I just tend to do my own thing, and…my own thing usually doesn’t factor in other people, y’know? I guess you must be going through a lot…I-I wish there was something I could do to…help, I guess?”
You shrug, eyes wandering the room as you rub your neck from where your Friday night encounter with that Meta made your spine meet pavement more than once. Your eyes meet Dyna’s again, and they’re glimmering with the spark of an idea as she watches your hands try to ease your tension. She stands up, putting her hands on her hips, towering over you on her long, lissome legs.
“Take your jacket off and lie face-down on the couch.” She says as-a-matter-of-factly, a businesslike tone in her posture and voice.
I.
What?
You are frozen like a deer in the headlights, and it takes a commanding look from Dyna to awkwardly shrug off your coat and lie face-down down on her rather comfortable couch. You feel her knee sink into the couch alongside your hips, and the other…oh okay she’s just straddling you now, it’s cool. Your heart starts to hammer double-time in your chest, feeling like you’re trying to catch your breath after a training run, when…
Oh my God….Holy *crap* that’s amazing.
Dyna’s forefingers and thumbs seem to physically pull the tension out of your abused back, and even through your thin shirt, the effect is immensely therapeutic. You must have mumbled something in your pleasure-fogged haze, and you’re vaguely aware of Dyna laughing out loud.
“…Hah, my Mom’s a physical therapist and my Dad’s a yoga instructor, so I picked up a few things. Between that and my art, it’s one of my points of pride.” She says, a wide smile evident in the tone of her heady voice.
You can feel the tension melting out of your body as your eyes, having no-where else to look, take in the details of Dyna’s sketches and painting, scattered about the floor. They’re all incredibly abstract pieces, reminiscent more of her scooter than of any aspect of her (limited) wardrobe.
“I…it’s the first time I’ve ever done this for someone else...so…what’s on your mind? I mean, how is…you know what, just…nevermind.”
You struggle to pull a coherent thought together out of the pleasant haze Dyna has you under…
“Oh…I. Thanks…I never had any tutors, if that’s what you’re asking…it just makes my eyes happy, I guess…and I can tell you’re plenty happy too~” she says, and you can practically feel her stick her tongue out at you teasingly.
“Did…*oof*…did your parents teach you how to do…this?” you ask, as her palm finds a sweet spot of tension that immediately falls to her skills.
“Yeah, but I never…jeez, you’re like a fucking *brick*…anyway, I never really practiced, but I watched them enough…it was my brother that really studied them, until he…passed. His bike’s out front…he was the real star of our family, but I ended up here. My parents live upstate…did I mention that? I probably...hm? What is it, did I do something wrong?”
You wiggle a little bit underneath her. “You stopped,” you teasingly pout, “…but I like it when you tell me more about yourself, Dyna. You don’t talk much except to throw shade.”
She’s quiet for a moment, before she tries to start back up on her work, but you turn on your side to face her, your cheeks turning an embarrassing shade of crimson as you try to articulate your request. ”Hey…If it’s not too much…could you please do my legs, next? I just run…and…I mean you know I run, but…”
[Wally’s Wit: Success]
“Y-yeah, of course!” Dyna replies with a bit too much volume in her voice as she slides down to get a better hold on your strained ankles and calves and…Oh. Sweet. Christmas. You’re in heaven.
“I uh…guess I need to get better at talking while I do this, yeah? I like answering questions, actually…no-one really does but you…so…ask away. If you want, I guess…it’s your choice.” She rambles, digging her fingers into the dense stress that’s nested deep in your muscles.
“I just want to hear more about you, Dyna. Ramble, for once. Everything you say is always so calculated for maximum judginess…” you joke, chuckling when Dyna blows a raspberry at you in protest, “Just talk…your voice is great.”
“Oh.” She says simply, faltering for just a moment before resuming the gentle, expert kneading of your bruised feet. “Well…the concert was fun…until, you know. You nod weakly.
“Most of my peeps have moved away, or I moved away from them to go to school here. I’m kinda glad you two have each other…and…” her voice trails off, as the room falls quiet for a moment as you tune in to the sound of a space heater in the corner of the living space.
“…So are you shacking up with anyone now, or what?”
The sheer forwardness of her question makes you stiffen briefly before she works the tension back out with her expert movements…
You can feel the blush break out down your neck so fast it could out-pace *you.*
“Ive..um, I’ve never…”You voice breaks, volume decreasing with every syllable you utter, “…’shacked up’ with…uh…anyone before…”
You finish with a whisper, you cheeks on fire and getting even hotter when Dyna abandon’s your massage to start chuckling to herself…Jerk.
“Hey…I’ve never really had the time to think about it, before.” You continue, getting a little defensive, “ I mean, even before I became Flywheel I was always running around.”
“Doing what?” Dyna asks, her laughter subsiding.
“I dunno…sports, Tabby…keeping my Mom working instead of drinking, and that was even before Dad left…Hell, you’d think with these powers I’d have more time, but I’ve been busier than ever will all these Metas…it sucks.”
You turn on the couch to face her, and her eyes are the most striking shade of blue as she meets your gaze.
“Hey…I’m sorry about that, Bee.” She says, hiding her eyes in her bangs, “I didn’t mean to laugh.”
“Hey no, it’s cool, seriously… but why did you ask? Do…do you…”
She shrugs before you can finish, doing an impressive dismount off the couch and stretching a bit.
“Just wonderin’. A body’s got a right to be curious, is all.” She says with a wink.
You open your mouth to ask her more, but your pocket starts vibrating furiously. It’s your alarm to remind you to go to CCPD…jeez, where did the time go?
“Work?” she asks. You nod. “Well, don’t let me keep you. I’ll see you around, Busy Bee.”
“Yeah, and thanks for the massage…this…was nice, Dyna. Thank you.”
She offers you a little half-smile, one dazzling blue eye peeking out at you from behind her bangs.
“Get to work, Speedy. I’ll see you around.”
With that, you’re off…
Your legs carry you to the rear of the CCPD main office, and you slip in the back door thanks to your Mom’s keycard. Making your way past the buzzing throng of officers and clerks, you make your way up a few flights of stairs to reach the relatively quiet office that is the CSI’s lab. The bay windows look out on a humbling view of Central City, but Atticus and the lead CSI, Doctor Albert, are engrossed in a series of pictures of what look like finger prints.
“Doctor Atticus…” you start, and his blonde hair flips amusingly as he’s snapped out of his focus, smiling at you widely.
“Miss Artemisa! I was afraid I’d miss you, but this case has served to be incredibly curious…come, take a look at this…”
He brings you over to where Albert stands, the latter giving you a disapproving glance, and sets you before the pictures they were studying. A lot of snapshots of bodies, all in their own homes, it looks like. You can see what looks like uniform bruising around their necks, and there are a few snippets of testimonies, taken from what you would assume to be the murderers. However, at center stage there’s a series of finger prints, side by side, seemingly identical.
“Tell me what you see, Artemisa. I’m interested in your input…”
You swallow hard and, feeling like you’re on trial with Doctor Atticus’ excited and anxious eyes on you, study the details a bit more closely…
You breathe in deep, and take your time parsing through the information. You look at the victims and the reports of their respective murderers; there are three pairs in all, but all have the same story. The murderer hears a knock on the door, goes to answer it, and blacks out. Wakes up later, their significant other is dead, and their fingerprints are all over the scene. There was a married couple, pair of dating college students, and finally there was a pair of high school girls, the younger of the two serving as the victim. All pairs. All strangled.
All suspects told the same story…and then there’s the fingerprints…
You fail to notice it at first, seeing each pair as a perfect mirror image…but that’s exactly what you realize is wrong with them.
“The fingerprints found on the victims’ necks and the fingerprints of their suspected murderers…they’re perfect mirror images, but on the same hand.” You finally say, stepping back from the board and searching Atticus’ eyes for answers. He lights up.
“Exactly! I believe what we are dealing with here is a shapeshifting Metahuman, potentially one that transforms his or her body into an imperfect copy of the original to frame them for murder…but *why* is the question that has been occupying my mind for the past few hours, for every one of these pairs…”he continues, gesturing at the board, “…seemed perfectly happy in their circumstances.”
“Alright, alright, enough.” Albert huffs, his thick Welsh accent dripping with barely-contained scorn. “I need her help organizing the files on my desk, and you two can talk more in class, I’m sure.”
“Oh yes, quite!” Atticus chirps, giving you a cheery nod and a promise to speak with you later…fun times. The rest of the day passes without incident, and you’re finally off work. Do you…
>A: Pick up Tabby’s favorite meal from Ragin Genghis on the way home as a treat. She deserves it, after all she’s been through.
You glance around the office, pausing before the threshold of the door. Albert went home early to start a Harry Potter marathon with his wife and kids, leaving you completely alone to close up. You see an opportunity and jump on it, sitting your bag by the door. You speed through the files on the recent murders at ridiculous speed, absorbing information as fast as your eyes will allow. There’s a common thread you didn’t see before…almost all of the friends and neighbors said that the suspects were wither quiet and withdrawn, like with the first pair, or put on a happy front, like in the last two. They were repressing things...if there’s a Meta involved, there’s no way that’s a coincidence.
Huh…in two of the testimonies, the suspects said they saw themselves reflected in the stranger’s eyes, but couldn’t offer any further details…wait…is your phone buzzing?
You grab your bag and fish out your phone, checking for messages and…oh, wow. One, two, three…*six* texts from Tabby...you’ve only been away from your phone for fifteen minutes, at most. You panic for a second, scrolling through the texts, reading from the first;
>Tabs, sent 7:56pm: Hey, Bee! What’re you up to? J
>Tabs, sent 7:59pm: Hey, just checking in, getting kinda worried. I’m fixing dinner, so don’t worry about picking something up! It’s my treat! ^_^
>Tabs, sent 7:11pm: Dinner’s almost ready. You’ll love it! :3
>Tabs, sent 7:13pm: Hurry home soon, I can’t wait to see you! <3
You finish reading the last one as your phone vibrates again, and you open the message; it’s a selfie of Tabby, wearing the panda hoodie you got her when you paid her to that park a few years back. She’s flashing you the victory sign and a goofy smile, her glasses fogged by the steam from the soup on the stove before her, also in the shot. She hasn’t worn that in years, that you know of. You kind of touched that she still has it…
Do you…
Your finger hovers over the ‘send’ button on the last reply, eyes on the heart.
You tap the button, and it blossoms red on your screen. Rushing home so that her efforts won’t grow cold, you spy a small panda plush in the window of a toy shop, and leave money on the counter (plus tip) to stay on your way home.
Standing in front of your apartment door, you open it to the glorious smell of steamed vegetables and whatever fantastic things are in the soup she’s preparing. She rounds the corner of your shared pantry, and smiles widely as you approach, launching into a run towards you.
“Hey Tabs...you were pretty lone *oof*”
Impact of her hug knocks the air out of you, and her slender arms wind themselves around your back to pull you close, burying her face in your jacket.
“Welcome home, Bee. I missed you today.” she says, smiling up at you. She finally unwinds herself from you to go tend to dinner, rebuffing your offer of help.
“You do so much, Bee….sit, please? You deserve to relax.”
You pull up a chair next to the kitchen island and balance on it, watching her as she busies herself with sprinkling various ingredients, stirring the pot, and a host of other things...nah, you can’t just sit around and do nothing. You get up and, taking a cue from your new friend, settle your hands on Tabby’s shoulders and start to knead.
“Bee, you should si...ooooh wow.” Tabby’s posture practically melts under your touch. You swear if she could start to purr, she would.
Arching her spine and backing into you as you work the tension out of her slender, graceful shoulders, she snuggles up to you.
“I never know you could do this~” she shudders as a pleasant chill runs down her back.
“Um...Tabby, the spoon is…”
“Wha? Oh, shoot!”
The spoon slips underneath the soup’s surface as Tabby tries in vain to grab it, her body too relaxed to make an effective effort. “Hold on, I’ll scrounge up another spoon from the pantry.
“Okay, I….wait. No, Bee wait, I…!”
“I’ve got it, Tabs, you work hard enough, as…” you pause when you open the pantry door and your foot nudges something soft. You look down.
Your mind reels.
NO.
Tabby, blood down her right arms, glass shards scattered around her as she lays on the floor in the dark of the pantry. She’s dressed in the same clothes you saw her in this morning, her breathing, thank god she’s breathing, is pained and fitful.
You whirl around to face whoever it is that’s in your kitchen, and not-Tabby is standing by the pot of boiling water as it foams over the side, tears running down her face and a knife held limply in her hands.
“W-why did you have to go and *ruin* it, Bee? I just w-wanted to pamper you, and now it’s *ruined*...I’m so sorry, Bee…” she shuffles towards you, her body racked with sobs as she advances with the blade…your mind racing with fear, you feel like you’re going to be sick as tears start to cloud your eyes, too...that thing let you *touch* it, let you feel what you feel for Tabby towards its insult of a form...You have to do something...
I don't think we have that level of control yet, to not only steal energy from objects and manipulate them but to try to deal with the various molecules of the object and prevent it from naturally deforming. You surge forward, riding the lightning to bring your fist directly into the jaw of the abomination. You swing, your knuckles colliding with her cold face as she crumples. Twists. Bends. Screeches. Shatters.
Explodes.
She explodes into a torrent of mirror shards, the assault more gut-wrenching than any you had suffered at the hands of Doctor Snow. You look down, breathing hard, trying your best to stay conscious, given the shards spearing through the front of your extremities and out the other. Stumbling over to Tabby, her fitful sleep has turned into a seizure of agony, whimpers of pain escaping her lips. Someone starts clapping behind you.
“Well done, Flywheel well done...clearly speedsters are so wonderfully capable of ruining things, as your friend said.” Evan Spiegel strides out of Tabby’s room, her diary in his and, bookmarked as he snaps it shut.
“What have you done? WHAT DID YOU DO?!” Your voice breaks, cradling Tabby’s fragile body in your arms, tightening your grip around her shoulders to stop her from hurting herself.
“Everyone in this world hides behind a mask, yes they do.” he calmly replies, letting the book of her innermost thoughts tumble to the floor. “I am true to myself, above all else. When my Mirrors are freed from their hosts, they act on pure ego, allowing themselves to really and truly *feel*, yes. You should have just waited, Flywheel. She would have shown you *such* a lovely time.”
You want to gather every ounce of you power to wipe that serene smile off his face, but Tabby shudders again in your arms. You hold her closer to you.
“How do I fix her?! Answer me!”
“Fix her? Give her what she wants. When people are honest with themselves and others, then they can be free from their suffering. It’s a beautiful thing, really.” he says, glasses reflecting your own tear-streaked anguish.
You….you don’t know what to DO. Your mind races, heart feeling like it’s about to implode from the pain of seeing your best friend in agony. What can you do to end this?
You cradle Tabitha in you bleeding arms, tears clouding your eyes for the first time in years.
"No, no, no please wake up, please Tabitha I- I can’t do this alone. I need you- I- oh god just please, *please* wake up."
Your shattered arms pull her to your chest gingerly the pain just a dull ache in the back of your mind….nothing you feel, nothing you could ever feel could surpass the terror of losing her. Leaning down to her, you shakingly press your lips to her forehead, and start to cry.
“Please, Tabs….I love you...please don’t leave me…”
“...Bee?”
Your eyes fly open to see Tabby looking blearily at you, her eyes widening as they dart over your wounds. “...Bee, oh my God, what happened?! Why are you…?”
“Bravo, you two, bravo indeed, yes.” Spiegel claps once again, the sound grinding against your brain. You...you're seeing double...triple...multiples of Spiegel start to emerge from behind him, all perfect duplicates, shimmering slightly before they eave him.
"But you have yet to achieve perfect acceptance of yourselves, as I have." He continues, with a smile spreading across his...*their* lips. "My personal Mirrors are all of one mind...I know what I am, and I have learned to love myself because of it."
Tabby’s fingertips, despite being bloodied herself, shake as they reach out uselessly against the shards in your arms. “Bee, your eyes, how are you…”
You can feel the lighting surging through every nerve, every cell of your broken body. The glass shards begin to vibrate out of your body, clattering to the floor. Your tissues start to stitch themselves back to gather in response to the wellspring of power erupting inside you.
You settle Tabby down, leaning her back against the wall. You turn to face Spiegel, the profane Mirror Master adjusting his glasses in tandem with his clones.
ou snatch Tabby’s swear jar off the counter, the world slowed to little more than a crawl. Lucky for you and your foul mouth, you have plenty of ammo you tear the lid off, and the quarters scatter before freezing in mid-air. You take aim...tuck your arms for what you’re about to to...and fire.
A flurry of explosive punches sends the quarters hurtling at the clones Spiegel summoned, and you let time catch up with you.
The sound is as deafening as it is gratifying. Clones to turn to shards, shards to gems, gems to sand. You smell smoke, and realize the sheer force of your assault turned each projectile into molten metal.
Mirror Master’s smile never wavers, even when he finds himself dangling by the ankle over busy Central City street, several blocks from your apartment. You’re done messing around.
“How did you know where I was...or *who* I am, for that matter?” you demand through gritted teeth.
“You’re as impressive as he said.” He’s avoiding the question. “Have you learned your lesson yet, my dear?”
You let your grip slacken, slipping him a few inches from your grasp...damn him, why isn’t he *afraid?*
“Who sent you? Whose sick mission has you hurting my best friend?! GIVE ME A NAME!”
“Vector.”
You let out a breath.
“His name is Vector. He is your end, just as you will be His beginning.”
He smiles up at you, putting his thumb and forefinger in a snapping position.
“You lesson is nearing it’s end, my sweet. Time’s running faster than you.”
He snaps, and his ankle shatters like so much fragile glass, sending his false body tumbling to the streets below.
You stand, shaking on the roof of a building you picked at random, the cold winds of Central City making your wounds ache. You just want this to stop...you want to go home…
..but you know that somewhere, Spiegel is out there.
So is Vector.
~~~Later~~~
“Tabs, I’ll be fine in the morning, you don’t…ow!”

“Oh, God, I’m sorry, I...there’s just so *much.*” she winces, gingerly wrapping soaked bindings around your arms. It’s three in the morning, and you’re so very tired.

You watch her work in silence. You both know neither of you are safe here, but the question of where to go, or what to do remains unspoken.

“Tabby, about what happ…”

“Please no…” she whimpers, shrinking her hands away from you at your words, her face blushed with fear and embarrassment "I'm so sorry..."

You just...should you say something? Do something? You don't have energy for much, but you can manage at least *something* before your body fails you.

>A: Talk to her, it’s something you need to hash out, and things get buried again. It’s been under the surface for years…it can’t hang over your head anymore (Write-in).

>B: Stay quiet about it, but accompany her to bed. There’s no way in hell you’re letting her out of your sight, not after...not after almost losing her.

"Tabitha. What he said. I don't know how much was true, and how much was, you know, supervillian lies."

Feel her nice hair and the warmth of her body, somehow closer than it used to be.

"I mean I think i would have noticed if you wanted to stab me. Heh well I MIGHT have noticed. But anyway I wanted to ask. So do you... like me? I meam obviously you like me, but do you..."

You reach out with trembling hands, and take her chin in your palm, lifting her face to meet your eyes. “Tabby...Tabby-cat.” you begin, your old high-school nickname for her prompting a weak smile, “Listen to me. I read about that guy when I was at work, and the people he targets...they’re either super antisocial or...they’re hiding something, something that’s hurting them, and they hide it behind a smile.”

Tabby’s bottom lip begins to tremble as you muster the will to continue, scooting closer so that you and she are sitting side-by-side on your bathroom floor. Your left hand finds her left shoulder, and you pull her closer. She’s still shivering, but her warmth is welcome.

“What he said, I don’t know how much of it was true, and how much was supervillain bullshit...I like to think I would know if you wanted to stab me...Tabs, I need us to be honest with each other. I can’t do this without you...I may be Flywheel, but she’s nothing without her Tabby-cat.”

“...love you…”

Her voice is so faint that you barely even hear it from where her face is nestled into your chest. Your face starts to go as red as your massive blood loss will allow, your mind turning with what to do. She takes the initiative for you, pushing herself away from you and slipping her glasses off her button nose.
“I love you, Bee.”

Her blue eyes are locked with yours, no trace of tears left in her eyes. You weakly try to form your next question.

“You...I...since when have you…?”

“Since that.” she replies, nodding into the living room where the shreds of the panda hoodie lay in tatters on the floor.

“I...never knew how you’d react, and I...I didn’t want to put that burden on you, so I just...I just stayed quiet...I hoped that being there for you would be enough, even if you found...s-someone else to be with...I mean, Dyna, she...I can’t compete, and I don’t want to if she makes you happy...I can still smell her perfume on you, b-but that’s okay...”

You...you never realized...you feel like such an *idiot*, so many things you had said throughout the years take on new meaning, and how it could have hurt her.

“But right here, right now? I don’t want to be someone...something that gets in your way. I don’t want to be a weakness for you, I...I *love* you too much to drag you down. I can leave, my Mom has a friend I can stay with and...I mean, it’s...it’s up to you…”

Her words trail off weakly. You realize what you say and do next will have irrevocable consequences.

There are no words you can say, not anymore. Just a single action of acceptance as you reach forward, taking her chin in your hand and guiding her lips to yours. Your first kiss.

Her eyes go wide, then flutter closed as she gingerly embraces you, her warm arms pulling you both closer than you’ve ever been.

Time slows.

There’s no rush of speed, no lightning coursing through your veins. Just you, and her, and warmth. That’s all you need. She pulls back, glasses forgotten by her side, eyes aglow with wonder.

“I...y-you…” she stammers, eyes searching your face for meaning. You simply smile.

“D-does this mean you want me to...to stay?” She asks, wincing a little.

You laugh, pulling her close.

“Remember what I said, Tabs? We’ll get through this, by each other’s side, yeah?”

Curling up against you, she turns to meet your eyes and nods in affirmation, a delirious smile on her lips. Tears begin to well in her eyes...but they’re tears borne of an emotion far removed from sadness, regret or fear.

Quite the opposite.

Your blood runs cold.

No, no more.

You RUN, surging into the suit Tabby made for you as you race down the streets of Central City, and you realize that she’s sewn a new emblem into the chest; it’s a golden Flywheel, striking against your jet-black costume, and the realization makes you run even harder.

Dyna’s door shatters as you dash through it and emerge in her living room, the cacophony of wooden splinters showering her hallway is distant sound as you take in the scene. Glass shards litter the ground, as Spiegel backs up against the wall.

The shadows follow him.

Dyna step forwards from the kitchen, eyes blacker than the darkest night as the ombre tendrils lift off the floor and wind around Spiegel’s throat.

“How dare you try and use your powers on me you little shit-stain, we had a deal and YOU BROKE THE SCHEDULE!” she bellows, dozens of spear-tipped onyx tendrils snaking towards his expressionless face. He offers a mirthless chuckle.

“You were compromised, Raider. Vector has a sequence, and you broke it by falling for…”

“SHUT IT. Your boss said he could bring my brother back, and put everything back the way it was, but after months of planning, he’s done absolutely...fucking...NOTHING! I’m tired of waiting and…it’s just idiotic to make her suffer when your boss could take what he needs whenever he...why does she need to be hurt? I don’t...”

She falters, her tendrils drooping, prompting a sneer to spread across Spiegel’s face.

“You’re being honest with yourself, yes you are. Isn’t the conflict lovely? But Miss Artemisa is key to the plan to get your brother back, indeed. But ask yourself this, which is more important? You dead departed brother, or s flash-in-the-pan red-haired whore who doesn’t even realize you’re wet for…”

The lances annihilate his form, the explosion of glass shards dampened, devoured by Dyna’s powers. She hasn’t even noticed you as you witness her eyes go the color of bright, fresh blood, her shadows dissipating immediately as her red lamp suddenly goes flying across the room of its own accord.

“GODDAMMIT, JUST DIE YOU SHIT!” she screams, a rage-filled cry that’s layered over with dozens, if not hundreds of other voices. Dyna….she was the one in that alley Friday night. You’ve seen her victims, torn to shreds...what do you do?

Dyna’s eyes glow a strange, translucent silver, the shards on the ground gathering to form a shattered sphere that her powers grind to dust as she leaves and walks back to the kitchen. You bolt to her closet, hiding in the darkness and peeking into the kitchen through the slats in the door. She’s standing over her own body, her real self in the same situation that Tabby found herself just an hour or two before. You feel your stomach turn.

“Useless.” The duplicate mutters, kicking her true form’s head, making it loll to the side. The duplicate turns to walk back in the living room, then pauses, her eyes flickering between a myriad of colors before finally settling on gold. She grits her teeth, a look of insane fury contorting her beautiful features into a mask of contempt.

You feel the emblem on your suit begin to tug forwards.

Like, seriously. Just look at the fucking holy grail that is Dungeon Life Quest. Vox made a stable, loving, and realistically growing polygamous relationship without any of the pitfalls most writers find themselves in, while also doing subtle commentary on the real world and its problems. In addition, the characters have realistic goals, actions, and motivations. Even the villains of the plot, with some of them being people who were misled, like Dyna and the Daughter, or followed out of a code of honor, like the Baron or Piper, or just straight up terrible scum, like the Vinter.

While you aren't a DLQ level piece yet, you definitely show the potential to do so.

“Busy Bee, wassup? You slept like a rock.” she says with a wink as Tabby whirls around.

“Bee!” she says jubilantly, abandoning breakfast to run over and throw herself in your arms. You notice Dyna smiling as she strides over to pick up where Tabs left off.

“I’m fine”, you reassure her, guiding her over to the table to sit, “Wounds all healed, see?”

You lift the top part of your uniform to just below chest level, showing her the scars, mending themselves even as her face goes beet red and she turns to the breakfast, realizing her haste. “O-oh, breakfast, I forgot to…”

“I got you, Pull Tab.” Dyna chuckles, flipping an omelette, as she coughs lightly “You had a hell of a night, let me take over for a sec. I’ve just been dicking….*cough*...dicking around online since you woke up, s’least I can do.”

“Oh, I told her!” Tabby pipes up cheerfully, oblivious at your look of protest and Dyna’s laugh at witnessing it.

“Haha, cool it Bee, I didn’t go poking around. I just wanted to check and see what the news had to say about what happened last night. It looks like your boss and Professor Atticus are on the Meta-forensics side of things, they got there quick.”

“Besides...there’s a lot I don’t know...about Vector.” Dyna says, hiding one eye behind her dark locks, looking at the floor as she speaks, “I...know he’s fast...like you. Maybe faster, but that’s just was the creep says, and who knows if he ever tells the truth?....H-hey, about the last few nights...”

She shuffles her feet as Tabby give you two some space, putting up the dishes and humming happily to herself.

“...I’m so sorry...I just...don’t like talking about stuff, and no-one ever really asked about...y’know, stuff about my brother. I didn’t mean to hurt you...either time.” She says, a pink blush spreading across her pale cheeks from her ears.

“It’s fine. *Seriously.*” You say, pulling her into your arms. She stiffens for a moment before relaxing against you.

“Thanks...I just...oh hey there~”

Tabby’s small form pulls all of you into a three-way hug-fest. "This feels nice, w-with both of you here...I feel *safe.*" Tabby says, sandwiching herself between the two of you, both much taller than she. You and Dyna share a smile over the brunette's messy bed-hair, and you get your things together.

They both wish you well on your way to work; Dyna, with a second, brief-but-tight hug, and Tabby, with an unexpected peck on your cheek. You shut the door to your apartment, and speed off to work.

“Miss Artemisa, Good Morning!” Atticus greets you with his usual boundless enthusiasm as you enter the CSI lab.

“Good Afternoon, Professor,” you correct him, prompting him to glance at his watch and mumble to himself, “Where’s Doctor Albert?”

“He’s about to have lunch with...oh, I guess that explains the time…”

“So, what’s been going on?” You play dumb, looking over the files of last night’s attack. “Another attack by our shape-shifting meta?”

“Indeed...and I’m afraid that your classmate...your friend, Dyna...has gone missing.” He says regretfully, a frown creasing his face.

“Oh my God.” You feign shock as best you can, and steady yourself on a nearby chair as you launch into analysis to keep the Professor from suspecting anything other than determination to catch the culprit. “We need to find who did this, and fast. What evidence is there? Is it the same M.O.?”

“Similar, but not quite.” he says, casting a concerned look your way and spreading a group of folder before you, in addition to a small bag of crystalline shards.

“Dyna didn’t appear to take anything with her, and there were clone shards scattered all around her apartment after what appears to be some sort of struggle.” he explains as he opens the folders, and shows you their contents; there are some phone and text records, stripped from her phone alongside a thick binder filled with notes.

“If you like, I haven’t gotten to read over those, so please tell me if you find anything relevant to our investigations if you would, Miss Artemisa.”

You glance over the items, before you, and your mind tries to piece it all together….

>A: Read over her texts...hey, she looked at your computer, it’s fair play, right?

~~~The Reveal~~~
A slow, creeping chill works its way down your spine when it dawns on you.
“Professor Atticus?”
“Yes, Miss Artemisa?” he pleasantly replies, fiddling with some paperwork on Doctor Albert’s desk.
“How did you know they were ‘clone’ shards?”
The room falls silent.
He slowly turn to face you.
“Oh well.” He says, his jovial tone all but gone, replaced with an unsettling monotone. “I knew when I started that this could not last forever.”
You back away from him cautiously, summoning the speed force to fill your legs, coiled like springs and screaming to run.
“Professor Atticus, did Mirror Master touch you? We can get you help, Sir…I can…”
“Miss Artmisa, I am afraid that you are not as learned as you think yourself to be. But do not be afraid…”
The blast of his transformation nearly knocks to off your feet, your eyes struggling to adjust to…
Oh God.
It’s Him.
He’s Vector.
DO NOT LOSE HEART
Standing before you, you can see him, clearly. The tattered dark red of his suit, an emblem on the front that pulses with a sickly purple light, matched by the storm cloud of violet electricity that dances across his muscular frame. His eyes glow bright as he smiles at you.
I WILL TEACH YOU
“What *are* you?!” you gasp, your eyes straining to look at what Atticus has become…no. What he really is. He’s like an open sore, a festering blight that ruins the space around him just by existing. He is something very damaged, something so very *wrong.*
I AM THE BEGINNING OF THIS WORLD
YOU WILL BE ITS END
ALL WILL BE RECTIFIED
“Doctor Atticus, why are you…”
NO
The revulsion in his voice stabs into your brain like a thousand furious, acid-tipped needles.
ATTICUS IS THE NAME I TOOK WHEN I MADE THIS MISTAKE
IT IS A MASK
I WANT YOU TO KNOW ME
AS I KNOW YOU
WHEN I TEACH YOU HOW TO END THIS WORLD
Your legs are pleading with you to RUN. Just RUN, dammit!. He walks closer, letting you see the hatred and regret embedded deep in his angry blue eyes.
MY NAME
IS BARRY ALLEN
AND I AM THE FASTEST MAN ALIVE
A surge of viridian lightning knocks you off your feet. Regaining your bearings, you look around wildly…He’s gone, leaving you with a dull headache, the chill of fear, and the creeping fear that things are about to get much, much worse.
“That son of a bitch!” The hospital table dents with the force of Dyna’s fist, Tabby jumping in her seat by her bed from the shock.
“Dyna, calm down....we’ll get him.” you say, putting your hand on hers in an attempt to pacify her rage. Her flickering cinnabar eyes lock with yours, slowly draining into a placid, sea-foam green. Tabby gently pushes some food in front of Dyna, who tears into is hungrily, her anger subsided by the meal...for now. You turn to Tabby.
“What’d the doctors say?”
“Well…” she begins, casting a furtive glance at the slender girl in hospital clothes, which you amusingly realize is the brightest clothes you you’ve ever seen her wear, “...she has a concussion from her fall on the floor, I think...and a little bit of internal bleeding, which is still kind of a mystery…”
“It could be a side-effect of Spiegel’s ability is it’s used on a Meta-human.” You muse, Dyna pushing her plate away and putting her hand on Tabby’s leg, which startles her.
“Hey, could I get some water if you don’t mind, Doll~?” she asks with her best svelte tone, the barest bit of red blossoming in Tabby’s cheeks as she nods, running off to go find a faucet with decent water that doesn’t reek of chemicals. Dyna’s smile follows Tabby for as long as it take for her to disappear out the door, and then she turns back to you, serious as death.
“Take that girl on a damn date, you goof.” she says simply, folding her arms.
“I...what? But you’re…”
“Fine, with a bit of rest. What, you didn’t think I’d know that fast heals aren’t part-and-parcel of this whole powers thing? Tabby alluded to what happened before...you came over last night, and she left out enough to where a girl can fill in the blanks.”
It’s your turn to blush, casting your gaze aside, looking everywhere but her until the presses something into your hand. Wha...cash?
“To take her someplace nice. From me. I found it in my pants pocket when I was changing into these sickhouse rags” she replies to the confused look evident in your features, “...but you make sure she *knows* I’m treating you two. I gotta get me them brownie points if we’re going to be staying together, yeah?”
“I brought water!” Tabby cheers, rounding the corner with a whole blasted pitcher and three glasses.
You quickly stuff the bills into your pocket...you are pretty hungry, and you know Tabs hasn’t eaten, not since her light breakfast...what do you do?
>A: Take Tabby out for lunch. It might be good to talk with her alone and compare notes on what’s been happening.
>B: Send Tabby out to get you and Dyna something, you want to pick her brain about Vector.
Welp, that took a turn for the worse.
So help me god if that skinny little shit touches our girls...
Well theres a reason i want us to go full speed debuff/thief
Right now we have excellent ranged attack, and melee capability is part and parcel of being a speedster.
We just need durability, MOAR SPEED, and a few other powers
“Tabs, you wanna go grab some lunch?”
She looks first to you, and then to Dyna, who give her an affirmative nod and a smile. Packing her backs and looking her arm under yours, you look back at Dyna as you leave, who gives you two thumbs up.
Nerd.
~~~
It’s a Sunday afternoon at Ragin Genghis, so aside from the occasional pick up order, you and Tabby have your own little corner of the restaurant’s miniscule lobby all to yourselves. Tabby’s eyes light up with joy when the waiter brings you both her order of General Tso’s Catfish and a Boudin Spring Roll, and your own double helping of Dirty Fried Rice, which you plan on taking home for Tabby to have lunch between classes tomorrow.

“So...know that you’ve had some time to process...what’s on your mind?” You ask, watching as she thoughtfully chews on a slice of fish, pondering the recent events.

“...I’m glad Dyna’s with us, actually…” Her answer throws you off guard, “...I could tell...feel, really, that she was dealing with some stuff when we were at the concert...and not just Piper’s peeps. I don’t know, she...she had the same kind of look on her face that I had when Dad died, and Mom went right back to dating before she found Tom.”

“Do you think we can trust her? She was on Vector’s...Attic...gah, this Barry guy’s side, after all.” you reply, testing the waters. Her reply is immediate, and as kind as you’ve known since middle school.

“Yes.” she says, stuffing her face with another too-big bite and somehow swallowing it whole to continue her thought, “She was never on Vectors’ side, Bee...he offered her something, and she was hurt enough to believe it could happen. I think we’ve all been there...I know I have…”

You mull over what she’s said as you eat your rice in silence, thinking of what to ask next…

>A: Ask her about what she thinks you all should do next, about Vector and Spiegel..the knowledge that they’re both still at large gnaws at you...

>B: Ask her if she’s okay with Dyna staying with you both...you think you know the answer is a yes, but you want to know more.

>C: Ask her if she knows of any good places to hide out while you look into how to stop your foes.

Also, I gotta say I'm loving the revel that Vector is Barr Allen. Since this is supposed to be a variation of the DC universe, I can see something speed/time/fabric-of-reality related having gone wrong in the "main" DC universe, which would fit with his ranting about him being the beginning of this world and us, another speedster, being its end. Not that we should anyways, but based on how he's been portrayed so far I think he too far gone from the cannon Barry for us to try to use that as a base for reasoning or interacting with him, though.

Based on what Bee has seen so far, I think he's going to be hell to deal with. We're FAST, but a full-powered Barry Allen practically IS the Speed Force. He can be here, theretc, and everywhere in between, running through a thousand variations of a scenario in the time it takes us to just think of an action.

This is gonna be gud.

“Do you think it’s a good idea to....to let her stay with us...for now, I mean.”

She puts her fork down on her plate and her chin in her hands studying your eyes with her luminous azure ones, taking a long moment before replying.

“I think it wouldn’t be like you to not...I kind of like her, even if she is kinda judgy….what’s so funny?” she raises a thin brown eyebrow as you chuckle.

“Nothing, it’s just...an inside joke, is all...hey, what’s that face for?”

Her face wears a mixture of melancholy and worry on her soft features, as she struggles to form the question that slowly works it way off her lips.

“I...I know y-you...like her, like...like-her-like-her, like you do me. A-and that’s okay, you know? I want you to be happy, and...I’ve never seen you like when you’re with her, and I can t-tell that she makes you happy...like I do, but d-different, kind of...if that makes sense.”

She’s clearly uncomfortable as she quickly segues to a related topic.

“A-anyway, I have this old friend in Starling City who might be able to house us for a while until we can figure things out, who I went to school with until he and his sister moved in with their Aunt when their parents died. He and I keep in touch, and he owes me...well, his Aunt owes my Mom a favor, and that’s something that neither of them want hanging over their heads, so they’ll both jump at the chance to repay it...Bee, what’s up? You look troubled…I didn’t mean to upset you…”

She fidgets with worry as you try to put into words what has you nonplussed…

Her brother is a reference to roy bivolo aka rainbow raider. He had the piwer to project light.

She obviously has chromatic based telekinesis of unknown limits.

If an object for example is predominantly purple, and she chooses to affect the color purple she can move it at will.

Her powers may or may not have an emotional element.

She may also be able to branch out into emotional manipulation via color. But that is purely an uneducated guess

“God, it’s just...I never even thought about any of this until a few days ago...I mean, she’s funny, and snarky, and…”

Her face falls just a bit, and you grab her hand beside you in the booth.

“Tabs...she could never, *ever* replace you. Not it a million years, you adorable panda-cat, you…” you throw your arm around her, dragging her into an awkward, yet cozy booth-hug as you wipe a worried tear from her eye, “I guess I just want all of this to be clear...hashing this stuff out is an important part of relationships…”

Tabby leans in close to whisper conspiratorially with a wink.

“You’ve never been *in* a relationship, Bee.”

“Hush....” you quickly reply, giving her a boop on her nose, “...I just want to make sure you’re comfortable with...all this. Know that, no matter what happens, you’re *always* going to be numbero uno to me...hey, what’s so funny?”

“I love that you never took Spanish in high school is all. You’re so cute! But seriously, I never told you about Tommy?” she arches an eyebrow, hands on her hips. You shake your head.

“Tommy Merlyn? Heir to Merlyn Consolidated? His sister is Thea, the girl that kept asking if you and I could go to her parties, but you said no ‘cause the papers said she did a lot of coke...Really? Come on, I could have sworn I…oh, um, Bee, your phone’s ringing.”

She has good ears, you didn’t even notice as you fish in your pocket for your phone. It’s the hospital. You pick it up and…

“Bee, they’re here!” Dyna’s voice screams from the other end of the phone from what sounds like the middle of a hurricane, the reception going wild. “He’s ...ere...he...copies...Doc….away. Hurr...Vec...”

Oh yeah that was just in response to anons question.

Her full powerset could potentially be devastating, especially since she wears all black. Black mode clearly includes tenebrous manipulation, and could easily provide her with armor.

Its a very versatile power, but she has to choose how to use it carefully.

Dependong on how strong she is its also a potentially useful anti speedster ability

we don't even know what her full power set is though, just that it's sort of shadow related. “Tabby, I need you to stay here, okay? I need to get to…”

“Go save her!” she shouts, shoving you closer to the door, keeping an eye out for any prying eyes. “GO!”

You blitz to and through the hospital, careening to a halt as you spot Dyna at the other end of one of the countless hallways, still in her hospital gown, her eyes a stark mix of black and white as she flings similarly-colored hospital floor tiles at some unseen threat.

“Dyna!” you scream. Her head turns to see you just in time for a ball of ice to slam into her chest, sending her flying out of sight…as a glassy, transparent replica of Doctor Snow walks into view, her neck creaking as her soulless eyes meet yours, ice gathering in a miniature pair of storms around her hands. You don’t have time for this. You speed around the corner to where you saw Dyna get thrown, only to find yourself face-to-face with dozens of patients blocking your path, blanks looks on their eyes...all of them chanting ‘the lesson is coming’ in unison as they shuffle towards you, needles and scalpels in their hands. Beyond them, but just barely, stands the expressionless duplicate of Robert Rathaway standing stock still, flute to his glassy lips.

Thought of a better idea
we need a way to break all of them at once, which seems to be the "lesson".

Did it work….?

You watch as Rathaway’s clone is infected with a swarm of spiderweb cracks before he shatters violently, the rest of his swarm collapsing to the floor. Snow, on the other hand…

Her clone looms over you, ice forming in her hand. It looks like the first blast that caught you, only close range.

“Get down!”

You comply, a torrent of black and white tiles spinning over your head a split-second after you hit the deck, carving several chunks out of Snow. You whirl around to face Dyna, who finishes pulling her black shirt over her head, now in her original garb.

“Dyna, you have to get ou…”

“I said *down!*” Her eyes flash, black again, and you find yourself face-flat on the floor, your suit feeling like the weight of the world as you hear more tiles whir overhead. The pressure on you dissipates, a swirling wall of tiles between the two of you and Spiegel’s puppet.

“Hey there, yes hello.”

You look up to see Dyna jump back from Mirror Master, who is standing mere inches away, humming with energy. Hairline fractures dance across his form as he smiles his serene grin.

“Hello, yes and goodbye.”

Dyna turns to you, opens her mouth to speak...and she’s gone. The hospital is gone, and you’re tumbling across a rooftop blocks away from the hospital. You skid to a painful stop on the gravel, and your ears clear enough to hear someone screaming your name…oh God.

Your eyes widen in horror as you witness Tabby, throat gripped tightly in Vector’s grasp and dangling over the edge of the building.

YOU ALWAYS WERE MY STAR PUPIL, MISS ARTEMISA

Your eyes hurt from his voice, from the tears welling in your eyes. You want, *need* to save her, but he’s faster than you in every way.

“Tabby, no!”

“Bee…” she breathes weakly, offering a frail smile, “...it’s...it’s okay, Bee.”

I HAD THIS

ONCE

I LOST EVERYTHING

IT IS TIME FOR YOU TO LEARN

His grip goes slack.

“TABBY NO!”

You surge forwards, scraping the speed of light...but Vector knocks you to the ground like it’s child’s play, Tabby’s anguished scream as she plummets tearing your soul to shreds.

“LET GO, SHE’LL DIE, BARRY!”

YOU KNOW WHAT YOU HAVE TO DO

Your hands grab each side of his face, and you feel the electricity surge through you as you tap into his speed….and *PULL* like it’s one thing you know, like it’s the last thing you’ll ever do.

“I need your speed if I’m going to save her!” you scream, time slowing around both of you as he pins you to the ground, your veins on fire from the sheer volume of power you’re absorbing.

YOU TAKE FROM EVERYONE, ARTEMISA

HOW LONG UNTIL THEY REALIZE YOU CAN’T GIVE BACK

You just keep pulling, scrabbling trying to drain his strength enough to force him off you, you feel something tearing inside you, but it doesn’t matter because Tabby is dying every microsecond you waste trying to free yourself from this monster.

HP: 7% /// KP: 176%

THIS IS THE PENULTIMATE LESSON

DRINK FROM ME

ONLY THEN CAN YOU SAVE EVERYONE

You fight the darkness clouding your vision, the searing pain as pure lightning surges through every agony-scarred molecule of your being.

HP: 2% /// KP: 276%

Suddenly, he’s gone, but you don’t question why.

You.

Just.

RUN.

She’s two feet from the pavement. Your legs are on fire.

She’s twelve inches from the cruel, unfeeling cement. You left leg gives out.

Two inches from death, she offers you one last smile. Your throat tears itself apart from your scream.

Her flowing brunette hair parts as her skull opens on the pavement, staining it pink and crimson. You’re ten feet away.

Tabby dies with the most beautiful smile on her face.

A gentle voice sounds from the light.

“No...not yet.”

You open your eyes, a plate of dirty rice, half-eaten in front of you. You look up, and Tabby, beautiful sweet Tabby looks at you, concerned, in the booth of Ragin Genghis.

“You look troubled, I didn’t mean to upse…”

You throw your arms around her neck and squeeze her so hard because you’re never letting her go.

You have no idea what just happened.

But she’s alive.

And that’s all that matters.

Well

The professor atticus reveal, while stunning was perhaps a bit rushed. We hadnt had time to form an opinion of him as a character other than tangential interactions. Granted, that can happen when you fuck up your master plan on step 3 so its entirely understandable.

Character impressions

Vector has a very zoomesque feel to his interactions, but his overall plan seems more eobardian, speaking in tv show terms.

Challenging us on two fronts is to be expected of a villian who knows who we are and it will make us justifiably paranoid about our waifus.

Tabsinthe is clearly the person who keeps Artemisa from going full villian in this timeline, our absentee drunkard mom probably isnt up to the challenge.

We havent really seen that "on screen", but its easy to infer.

Dyna Bivolo, please dont mistake the fact that i have a slightly harder time coming up with names for her to indicate i love her any less. She is a perfect compliment to Tabs. I think her power set is a great idea, better than many that make it into a comoc book. I can poignantly imagine exactly how Bee feels when she looks at Dynasaur. There is clearly an atteaxtion there, and it would be nice to see that depen from a predominantly physical attraction coupled with friendship into a true romantic relationship.

Of course, it isnt easy having two girlfriends, especially when there is an insane speedster looking to use you to annihilate/improve the world.
>>
>>922405
Yeah, the reveal was rather sudden, but I didn't want things to lag on. Trying to make Atticus unsuspicious and throw Bee, Tabs and Dyna off his trail was a whole plot line that, when I looked at my notes, would just kind of drag things down, I felt.

I'm really looking forward to exploring how the three of them compliment and contrast with each other, not just in personalities, but his *how* they grow closer together, and where there's friction.
>>
>>923085
It would have felt less rushed if the players had noticed the slip-up and realized he was tricking us instead of using a roll to notice it.
>>
THIS THREAD IS OFFICIALLY NOT HERESY. CONTINUE.
but no srsly this thread is great

>>923085
Well given Tabby cats mile wide protective streak the revelation that Dynamo was working for Vector isnt going to go down well... especially if it happens after everything gets physical.

For her part Dynasty has a lot of issues, mostly relating to survivors guilt. Im guess ing we are uniquely positioned to help with that since you havent mentioned our Dad at any point. At least i dont think you have, could be wrong.

Artemisa on the other hand may be the fastest woman alive, but i dont see how she runs anywhere with all that spaghetti in her pockets. Shes a nerdy smoking hot 20 something virgin who is just realizing shes probably into girls, maybe guys too?

Theres only obe scientific way to be sure..... but she likes two ladies and isnt sure how they would take that.

Oh yeah, and an insane speedster from the future(?) Wants to kill one of her would be lovers later today. At least one.
>>
Since i´ve been drawing superhero costumes today because of the sudden influx of superhero quests...
Going to try drawing Bee´s costume, anything special you would like me to add to the design? It was black and purple, and a domino mask iirc.

Also i suspected the Professor, since, well, you used a Kira picture so many times...
>>
>>923645
I would be eternally grateful if you add the Flywheel emblem to the front of her suit in gold as referenced earlier in the thread. Kind of the same size as the Flash's emblem.

I found a cool picture of Kira and posted it for Atticus, but then when I tried to find more, there are an incredibly small amount of pics of him that don't have Killer Queen behind him or the guy suckin' on a hand, hence why there are like, two pics of him and several for everyone else.

You are awesome!

>>923643
Your spaghetti comment killed me, I laughed so hard. There are are few upcoming situations where I'm really looking forward to how Tabs and Dyna interact, (somewhat) sans Bee.

Oh god T-bombs designing Dynamite a costume. They would argue incessantly over it.

D: Just make it black
T: Thats really boring!
D: No its not.
T: YES, it is!
D: sigh fine, do it like this
T: thats too many colors! It will clash! What are you color blind?
D: fine, black it is then
T: ... .... ... fine. Black it is then.

But yeah out of character Dynamic could totally have a shifting rainbow hued light projector as her symbol. Functional, works with her power set, serves to liven up her otherwise drab costume.

Tabs super power is cuteness, and she definitely doesnt need a costume.

Speedster Quest - Episode Five
~Starling City’s Golden Boy~

You lace your arms around her as fast as your body will allow, hot tears streaming down your cheeks as you sob into her brunette hair. You run your hands through it, frantically checking for any sign of fracture, any sign of the fall. God almighty, your nerves are on fire, you feel like you’re still running as you feel an incredible surge of power unlike *anything* you’ve ever felt before…you feel…you feel like you…

>LEVEL UP

>Choose TWO of the following Options. ONE Active Ability, and ONE Passive Ability;

*ACTIVE SKILLS/UPGRADES*

>(NEW) Pickpocket, Lvl. 3: You gain more of a KP Boost when you drain potential from living targets, and the debuff to speed lingers over time, taking some power out of their attacks as well.

>(NEW) Time’s Trickster: you touch a foe, and at the cost of 50% KP meter, absorb the energy they spent during their last action, resetting their position and momentum to where they were the previous round. Though mildly disorienting, they are aware of the reversal, but the potential for forcing a foe into a combo you set up ahead of time is invaluable.

>Phase-Through: You may now pass through walls at a cost of 5% KR meter per wall.

>Flywheel Turnabout: Can use 50% of KR meter to enact a powerful counter to take half damage from an attack and reflecting it back on the offender for greater damage than Pickpocket allows.

*PASSIVES*

>Wally’s Wit, Lvl. 2: Gain greater bonuses in social situations, making even Bee capable of making even the most improbable scenarios come to fruition as a result of her connection to others.

>(NEW) Vision in White: Gain potential visions of the past, present, and future with the aid of a mysterious ally who speaks to you in your dreams…

> (NEW) Compassion’s Braid: Your connection to Tabby and Dyna allow you to reach impossible speeds, breaking the laws of physics and allowing you to automatically intuit their locations at any given time and instantaneously teleport to their side, regardless of circumstances. Only usable out of direct combat.

>Times trickster

That was a tough choice

>Companions braid

Ten feet away my ass.

I was also thinking about future potential abilities. Specifically our titular "flywheel".

I think we should eventually make a fly wheel. Not a regular boring ordinary fly wheel. No i say we find a material that is utterly impervious to deformation under kinetic or energetic changes. Then we create an anchor point in the real world, spin the wheel up, and dimensionally shift it into the speed force. Its kinetic energy should immediately become ∞.

This would allow us to refill our kr at will, provided we dont explode.

And possibly channel incoming kinetic energy back into the flywheel making us practically immune to physical attacks. If we dont explode.

I was thinking of it something like the phantom mass rings from gold digger.

Just an idea.

“Bee?! Bee, what’s wrong?!” she returns your embrace, but her voice shows signs of panic at your outburst. “ I’m so, so sorry if what I said hurt you, I didn’t mean…”

“I…no, you…I let you…I wasn’t*fast* enough…” you choke on the words, and they make you hurt even more, limbs on fire from running after her small, doomed body. Your fingers dig into her, trying to hold on to the living, breathing proof that she’s here, she’s safe, she’s *alive.*

“Bee….Bee!” she somehow disentangles from you, gently wiping the tears from your face as she searches your face for answers…

“…Bee…what *happened*?”

You open your mouth to speak, and it’s like a dam breaks. Details, incoherent and out of order, spill out of you, Tabby’s mind racing to put it all together as she nods, stroking your cheek as she listens patiently. The waitress brings you both your bill, giving you both a tactful nod and a knowing glance at Tabby, who glances at the bill and immediately brings her eyes back to you.

You get to the part where you saw Dyna, and you start to panic, grabbing her hand and pulling her with you on your way out the door.

“She’s in trouble, we need to go get her and get out of Central Ci…”

“Bee, hold on a second and let me…” she starts, a warm breeze blowing by you both from the open door. Her eyes alight on the receipt again, and she suddenly goes pale.

“...pay.” she finishes weakly, and you follow her gaze to the paper, heavy with a single sentence written in black scrawl that blurs out any detail, reading;

CONGRATULATIONS

YOU PASSED THE LESSON…

You don’t care who’s there. You don’t care who sees. You grab hold of Tabby’s arm, and you’re immediately by Dyna’s side at the hospital, papers in her lap flying everywhere from your sudden entrance. She’s still in safely in bed, with a pack of colored pencils she somehow smuggled in.

“Jesus Christ Bee, what the shi…”

“We need to move, *now.*” you say, grabbing her belongings as your eyes dart around the room.

“Bee, look.” Tabby says softly, clutching your arm with one hand and pointing to a vase of red-and-yellow flowers that weren’t there before. Dyna notices, and you can see her trying to work out where they came from as Tabby starts to rapidly explain to her what you told her as best she can. You reach forward with trembling hand, opening the single piece of paper, neatly folded among the petals.

...WITH FLYING COLORS

YOU HAVE THREE DAYS UNTIL YOU FINISH WHAT I STARTED

REST

You crumble the second half of Vector’s message and throw it on the ground with disgust, turning your attention to your two girls, who look at you with a mix of fear and concern.

“Well shit...Bee, I’ll change real quick and get my stuff...what’s the plan?” Dyna asks, getting out of bed and gathering her belongings as Tabby wrings her hands, eyes locked on your face, and you know she’s running through every option she has to help you stay calm.

You wish you had a plan, but for right now, all you can do is…

>A: Take Tabby up on her plan to go to Starling City and hide out with her friend, Tommy, and his sister. You need time to plan, and Vector clearly knows you well enough that sneaking out of the city is your best option.

(posting order got jacked up, had to delete previous post)

“We go back to the apartment. If he’s being honest, then he’s given us three days...he’s been consistent in his insanity, at least.” You say, Tabby reaching forward to take your hands in hers before you start chewing your fingers in frustration, an old habit you thought you had broken. Dyna turns her back to the two of you, tearing off the hospital gown and rapidly changing into her black attire. Tabby averts her eyes, blushing slightly as she grips your fingers tightly. You’re keeping your eyes fixed on the door, hoping to catch a glimpse of Vector should be break his promise.

You hope, but you know you couldn’t even see him coming.

Dyna zips up her jeans, wiggling a bit as she fits in them and snatching up her bag and pencils, nodding briskly to you and Tabby. Time to go.

~~~
“We should do some research on this Barry Allen guy.” Tabby says, her eyes on the road as she breaks the silence that had settled in the car ever since you all climbed in.
“Here.” she says, handing her phone to Dyna, who balks at Tabs’ bedazzled phone case. “I need you to text Tommy Merlyn and tell him that I’m going to need his sister to run a search on the names Barry Allen and Bartholomew Atticus.”
Dyna raises an eyebrow, but relents and starts scrolling through the glitzy phone in search of Tommy’s number. You turn to face Tabby as she continues.
“We have three days to plan, so we need to make this count. We need to make him come to us, and….and then we…”
She trails off as a plan fails to materialize, her face dropping and her shoulders sinking back into the seat. You put a reassuring hand on her knee.
“Tabs, we’re a team, right? We’ll work out something...and we’ll do it together.”
“Sent!” Dyna says, handing you the phone from the backseat as Tabby starts to speak.
“Bee...you’re *Flywheel*...and Dyna, she’s chromakinetic, and I…”
“I’m a what now?” you hear Dyna’s bewildered voice cut in.
“Chroma? Color, you control it with your...anyway, you two are amazing, and I...I don’t have anything to...add, to this situation…”
You look at her and open your mouth to speak, but stop when you see Dyna start to do the same out of the corner of your eye. Do you....
>A: Let Dyna speak her mind...you haven’t seen much of what she and Tabs have talked about...but then again, you’re not sure if what she has to say will make things better or worse…
You wait a moment...and then nod, allowing Dyna to take the stage, as it were.
“Hey Tabsynthe, you’re selling yourself short...you’ve kept Busy Bee here from running into walls while she came to grips with being a human hedgehog.” Tabby chuckles a little at this, a smile starting to spread across Dyna’s lips as she talks, reaching out to put her slender fingers on Tabby’s shoulder. “...and when I woke up this morning...you really helped *me*...BeeBee and I may be supers, or whatever, but you’re the one that keeps out shit together, yeah?”
Tabby’s posture shows her rebuilding confidence, flashing a warm smile to you and Dyna. The clouds are gathering overhead, but you’re warm in the car as you start to drift off...
~
The rain has started in earnest by the time you three get back to the apartment and run inside, Tabby starting up a pot of boiling water to make tea to go with leftovers, and you start (and finish) setting out the cups and plates in an instant, setting Tabby's special place at the table with her favorite teacup, a little thing you picked her up on the way home on day after she had a bad stretch of tests.
Finishing up there, you take your place next to Dyna on the couch, your computer nestled lap, legs folded underneath her. You briefly wonder how in the world she can cross her legs in pants that…
“If you take a picture, it’ll last longer~”
Your eyes snap to hers as she smirks, her lone visible eye bright blue and mischievous, making a tingle go up your spine with a wink.
“I...sorry, I…” you try to stammer out some form of apology, before
“I’d let you, but I have some business to finish...before pleasure, yeah~?”
You feel the blush creep up your neck, even as you turn to check on Tabby, who expertly plucks the tea kettle off the stove the moment a whistle begins to make itself heard.
Do you want to…
You lean up against her, partly to have a quieter conversation, and partly out of sheer exhaustion, letting your head rest on her shoulder. She stiffens, but relaxes after a moment, allowing you to settle in as you realize that her raven hair smells pleasantly of honeysuckle...you weren’t expecting that. You watch her work for a few minutes, heart skipping a beat when she drags the cursor over a particular folder on your desktop before moving on, but her research into Professor Atticus turning up little more than a research paper or two and a single defunct LinkedIn profile. You clear your throat, the sound louder than you expected it to be in the pleasant quiet that fills your apartment.
“Dyna....” you begin, keeping your voice low, “...we need to talk about Vector...and your connection to him.”
The dance of her fingertips across the keyboard slows to a stop, and you notice her start to bite her bottom lip in thought. She doesn’t offer any words to you, so you continue.
“I know you...I know it’s not something you want to talk about, but we *need* to talk about how he tried to get to you, and what he’s capable of...hey. Dyna, I’m not mad...please, don’t think for a moment that I hold you responsible for what he’s done…”
You slide your arm around her shoulder, coping to settle her mind. She closes the laptop gently and slides it to the side, shifting her body so that she’s lying against you, her lithe form flush with yours her breath warm against the crook of your neck.
“I know you’re not mad...but that doesn’t erase the fact that I put you and Tabby in danger for the chance to...do something selfish…” she says, pulling her lissome legs to her chest as she huddles closer to you, “...I just...really miss him, y’know? He was my idol, and I begged and begged Roy to come with me to that concert...then he pushed that guy that was drunk, and…and I…”
You feel tears start to drop onto your neck, staining your shirt as they roll down.
“...I-I watched my brother get stabbed...s-so many times, I just...I just wanted to see his smile again and...and know that he d-didn’t hate me for what I did…I didn’t, I didn’t *mean* to....”
She starts shaking next to you, silent sobs racking her body as you pull her closer to yours. You run your hands through her short, coal-black hair, the fingers of your other hand tracing slow, calming circles on her back through the fabric of her shirt. After a long moment, she swallows hard, gathering herself to speak.
“Vector promised he could undo what I did.” she says, her voice hard, but not hard enough to disguise the sadness or guilt in her words, “He said...that you could fix it, but...you needed to be *motivated* to change…”
“Change what?” You breathe gently, caressing her shoulder gingerly.
She looks up at you, her glimmering azure eyes misty with past tears.
“Everything that ever was, ever is, and ever will be...that’s what he told me.”
A sudden, demanding knock on the door makes Tabby jump, and you and Dyna are immediately ready, sparks dancing along your legs as Dyna’s eyes shift to the light golden color of the carpeting and the doorknob. Tabby slips around the corner from the door, unsheathing a knife from her kitchen rack and getting into ambush position. You’re about to tell her to get back here, but Dyna mouths a silent ‘ready?’ to you, making a motion of unlocking the door.
Speeding back to your room, you grab the gun your Mom insisted you carry, back when she gave a damn. Racing back, you switch its place with the knife in Tabby’s hand, putting a finger to your lips to quiet her before she yelps with surprise. Pushing her back to better cover, you glance over at Dyna, who winks. She’s got you covered, and begin your silent countdown.
One.
Two.
Three!
“‘Sup, bitches!” A boisterously loud young girl with auburn hair rips off her stylish shades as she strides...or wheels, actually...her way into your apartment, a bleary-eyed and put upon young man behind her, scanning the room lazily with his green eyes as he shifts a pair of luggage bags from one shoulder to the other, soaking in the atmosphere of the room. “It’s your favorite four-wheel hell-raiser! Where’s my Tabby-cat?! Come and give your favorite Thea a hug, yeah!?”
She peers around, Tabby still out of sight as Thea Merlyn looks you up and down, arching one eyebrow as a grin splits across her face, a tight grip on the wheels of her chair.
“Damn...homegirl always did like ‘em tall. And hot *damn*, are you a natural firecro…”
“HAHAHA, Bee’s a firecracker, yes she is!” Tabby announces loudly and rounding the corner, a nervous smile on her face and no gun to be found.
“This is her?! Oh shit, you thirsty bitch, come here!” Thea bellows, throwing her arms around Tabby’s miniature waist and pulling her into her lap as the two girls erupt into laughter. Many squeals of joy are had between Tabby and Thea which go unacknowledged by her brother Tommy, who strides forward to greet you, green eyes shining with a serene look about him.
“Hey there. Tommy Merlyn, it’s a pleasure.” he says, offering his hand with a smile.
“Bee...Artemisa. This is Dyna Bivolo, my...our...um…” you struggle for some label to apply to your current living situation, completely neglecting his offer when Dyna strides forward to save you, putting an arm around your shoulder and offering her other hand to complete the greeting.
“Dyna, charmed~ What brings you two to our door this evening~?” she says, batting her eyelashes.
“Visiting old friends” he replies brusquely, giving Dyna a polite nod and keeping his eyes on you. “Tabitha told my sister and I a lot about you. You both pretty much grew up together, yes?”
You open your mouth to reply but are cut off by a sudden flurry of conversation from Thea and Tabby, the former shoving a flash drive into Tabs’ hand.
“And THAT is how I committed three felonies to get you what’s on that drive, and THAT is why we are going to crash at your place tonight because my unfeeling ass is tired. So, what’s cooking, Tab Soda?”
You and Tabby exchange a glance, with her pitifully mouthing you an apology, one that does not fail to go unnoticed by Thea’s brother, who clears his throat.
“Thea. She didn’t agree to this. We can’t just barge in here, this isn’t one of Aunt Rebecca’s donors who you can treat however you want.”
“No, because it’s *better*! Come on Magic Man, it’s cool, right?!”
Thea looks expectantly at Tabby, who in turn looks between you and Dyna with a look that is composed of equal parts panic, resigned misery, and a smidge of excitement.
You look at Dyna.
Dyna looks at you.
“Not it.” she breathes.
Fuck.
Your will, steel.
Your legs, lightning.
You gather the breath to put your foot down and boldly, unapologetically say,
“Yes.”
Wait...shit. Before you can take it back, Tabby and Thea’s dual screams of joy explode in your eardrums, Tommy wincing at the girls’ glass-shattering power, and Dyna giving you a look that just screams of ‘why’?
“Hey….HEY!” you yell, raising you voice and hands to bring the two-girl party into order, if only to hear you out, “It’s our place, and we appreciate what you’ve done for us, Miss Merlyn. That being said, the difficulty in obtaining that information should give you some idea of the trouble we’re in...we’ve been given a timetable we need to follow...we can spare and evening, but we need this space to ourselves by noon tomorrow.”
“Bee? You might want to make it two or so…” Tabby says shyly, clasping her hands in front of her in a gesture of supplication.
“Wait, why would…”
“ ‘CAUSE I BROUGHT THE GOOOOD SHIT!” Thea screams, grabbing her luggage case from her brother’s shoulder and ripping it open to reveal an array of alcohol the likes of which you’ve only seen in the liquor stores you can’t afford to do anything with but stand outside and drool.
“Thea, Thea, we are *guests* in Tabitha, Bee, and Dyna’s house. If they have any ground rules, we must abide by them. Do you have any questions or concerns before we begin the evening's festivities?” Tommy explains, resting his hand on his sister’s shoulder in a futile attempt to calm her.
“Well to start, are either of you Metas?”
You and the rest of the room turn to Dyna, who give a little non-committal shrug after voicing her question. “What? It’s a valid question.”
“Nah, we’re clean...” Thea says, sliding the bag onto your kitchen table with one hand and pulling out a flask from the wheel well of her chair. “...but the *real* question we need to ask each other is what game we start the night off with!”
“Game?” You say lamely.
“A drinking game.” Tommy explains patiently, setting out a few glasses from the bag. “Her favorites are Truth or Dare, Never Have I Ever, and...what was the one where you roll the twelve-sided dice?”
“It’s twenty sided and you don’t know ‘cause you not a cool nerd like Tabs and me. You roll the dice do the thing ‘cause I got all the rules on my phone and you get shit-faced and it’s GREAT.” Thea interjects before turning her attention to you, bright eyes fiery with anticipation, “So I ask you, fire-headed matron of Castle Me’nage, you own this joint; which one do you want to play?”
You look over at Dyna, who shrugs again, this time giving you a jovial wink an a low, elegant bow.
“Don’t look at me, My Fire-Headed Mistress...you have the floor~”
"Wait...whats the Dice Game?"
Thea stared at you, personally affronted before the has the sense to fish out her phone, scrolling furiously through it before thrusting it in your hands.
You squint at the screen, reading the rules.
The first person to start drinking that night goes first, rolls a d20.
1. Take one drink
2. Take two drinks
3. Tell the weirdest dream you've ever had
4. Drunk or toddler
5. Tell a story only one person in the group would know
6. Truth or Dare
7. Tell someone of your choosing to take a drink
8. Don't get me started, drink when you run out of things to say
9. Thumb wrestle to the death. Loser finishes their drink
10. Tell a story. If someone stops you and says you've told it before, take a drink.
11. The other people have ten seconds to make a reference to an inside joke before they have to take a drink.
12. Kiss or Slap
Rinse, Repeat until sloppy.
"That, my fiery and intimidatingly naive friend....is the Dice Game." Thea says, a look of personal satisfaction plastered on her face...or maybe she's already plastered, it's hard to tell.
Just an explanation for anyone who's never played. [/spoilers]
You pause, Thea's eyes glinting with a mischievous light.
"Then. You. Gotta. STRIP." she says, and you have the perfect opportunity to watch Tabby's face go beet red at a speed that makes even you jealous.
"I-I think Truth or Dare would be a really good game because it's starting to get r-really cold and we don't have v-very good heating here and we probably have to turn in early for the night and..."
Tabby's studdering is a stark contrast to Dyna's reaction when you look to your side and see her tug at the waist of her jeans, flashing her bright red underwear with a smirk.
"...Sounds fun to me~"
Hearing this, Tabby goes redder than your lightning, and looks at you with a panicked expression...or is it excitement? It's kind of hard to tell, since her glasses are starting to fog from the heat building up in her cheeks.
Questions
How long has bee been flywheel again?
Who is your favorite character to wrote for so far?
More when i can
>>
>>929001
Bee has been a speedster for the past three months since the Central City particle accelerator blew up, granting abilities to newly christened metahumans.
Favorite to write? Well, I'm enjoying Thea (or Hopped-Up Baby Stroller, as one anon said) more than i ever expected since when I sat down to write her she became so different than I imagined.
But truly, I really enjoy writing Tabby and Dyna, particularly when the three of them are all hanging out, just being themselves and discovering who they are as a unit.
>>929092
Ive been slogging through the flash on netflix.
It has some great actors in it...
But goddamn if tv writers cant understand time.
At least its not legends of tomorrow.
I honestly feel youve done a better job on characterization than some of these shows.
Zoom got me through season 2, but my gf guessed who he was way early so the reveal had next to no impact.
So um questions right.
Who do you think will be the first big name hero, who isnt a speedster, that Artemisa will meet?
I have noticed you seem to be taking the flashs rouge gallery, tossing them in A transmutation machine and pulling out original characters. Will you be doing that with a-list heros as well?
So what happened to Hotwheels lower half? Is her brother evil?
>>
>>928327
>>A: Dice Game
>>
>>929220
It does have some really great actors, Tom Cavanaugh in particular...and you flatter me, I appreciate your comparisons to the tv shows.
As far as your other three questions, you will have your answers shortly after the girls (and Tommy) finish their dice game. You may find it interesting.
However, in the context of the story, Malcom and Moira Mervyn died in the freak plane crash (collision with an unknow object) that also paralyzed Thea. Tommy was found last in the wreckage, unscathed.
>>
>>929502
Tom Cavanaugh is a phenominal actor.
Most of the actors on the show are top notch. Occasionally however the writers go pants on head retarded and it fucks with me.
Like i said, still not as bad as legends of temporal inconsistency.
Sooooo any chance we could rope Thea amd her brother EVIL into a game of Not!DnD?
You sigh, relenting your evening to a roll of the dice. Thea pours you all some drinks, and when you take a sip, you realize the sweetness of the concoction she’s created must be concealing some ungodly high alcohol content. The five of you settle around the center of your living room, you and Dyna moving the center table and Tommy lifting Thea effortlessly from her chair and setting her gently on the couch, after which she produced the dreaded pink dice that would decide your fates.
“Imma roll first, so here...we...go! ROLL FOR INITIATIVE, BITCHES!” Thea yells, not even waiting for you all to settle down with your drinks, Tabby joining Thea on the couch, with Dyna, you, and Tommy clockwise, completing the circle. Dyna had dimmed the lights, leaving cozy lamp light illuminating all of you as the dice settles on a number in the flattened carpet….
...Thea rolls a seven, and demands that Tabby take a drink, to which her blushing self responds by taking a mere sip from her glass. After a few moments of goading from Thea, she downs a bit more, but stops when you pluck the dice from the carpet and handing it to her. She shakes it in her hand for longer than necessary, finally summoning the courage to roll, closing her eyes as she makes the throw. Your eyes are glued to the dice as it goes through the motions...six...twelve...NO.
Your reflexes let you see that it’s about to land on a seventeen...jeez, you feel awful...you know she’s not comfortable with this…
...you don’t suppose you could…*change* it, could you?
You decide to leave the dice where it lay, as Tabby takes another long swig of her drink and pulcks her socks off her tiny feet, folding them neatly and setting them on the arm of the couch.
“That wasn’t so bad, eh Tab Soda?” Thea goads, gesturing to you, “Makes a good impression, yeah?” she adds with a pointed nudge of Tabby’s side.
It’s Dyna’s turn as she takes the dice, looks you dead in the eye, and finishes her drink with on hand as she rolls the dice with the other. Your eyes are locked with hers as you see them shift from bright blue to a shade of...pink?
“OHHHH SNAP. Goth girl’s gotta lose it!” you hear Thea exclaim, your head snapping to look at the dice, a natural twenty shining up at you, the exact same shade as Dyna’s eyes. Oh my God, she didn’t…
She gives you a wink as her eyes shift back to their heart-piercing blue, her thumbs around the waist of her pants…
...she DID.
You watch in shock as Dyna stands straight up and yanks her jeans straight down, revealing her bright red underwear before sitting right back down, cross legged. You notice that Tabby’s face matches Dyna’s panties, and take a sip of your drink.
It comes to you...you realize you can make the difference with your speed...but maybe leaving things up to chance isn’t so bad, after all...even after just a few sips, you’re starting to feel it…and Dyna’s looking at you expectantly…
You roll, and as the dice is about to settle…
Thea exaggeratedly rolls her eyes, but you catch Dyna looking at you with an expression you’ve never seen her have before...it’s not confusion, or anger...she looks...misty-eyed, if you were to put a word to it? You look at her longer to study the expression, but it’s gone as soon as you settle down, her eyes facing at Tommy, who take the dice in hand. He fidgets a bit, weighting the dice in his hand before taking it in three slender fingers and putting a spin on it, watching it rotate until it comes up another seven, to which Thea groans as he selects her to take another drink. Thea in turn rolls a two, so Tommy gets up to get her more after she finishes hers.
“Ssso tell me, Tabermeister, how long have you and your lady here been under the sssame roof?” Thea slurs, gesturing towards you as Tabby’s cheeks redden. You answer for her.
“The last two years. How long have you and your brother lives in Starling City?” you ask, turning the question to her as Tabby turns the dice in her hands, stalling for time.
“Sss’bout as long as I had my bitching baby carriage here!” she replies as she pats her trusty wheel chair, “I think ‘Imma paint flames on her, maybe a biker chick with a kickin ra...”
“What she means to say, “Tommy says, returning with a drink for his sister that is more alcohol than mixer, “Is that when our parents passed away in the plane crash and Thea got out of the hospital, we moved in with Aunt Rebecca in Starling, and that was about five years ago.”
“Wait a second...Merlyn, I thought that name sounded familiar!” Dyna says, a look of realization spreading across her face as she leans closer. “You were in the freak accident when the space junk hit your plane, right? Jesus man, that was all over the news.”
Tommy nods, about to speak when Thea cuts in.
“Yeah, my golden boy bro here got the worst out of it, he got nothin’ out of it but a fancy ring, but I got pity for daaaays! And don’t think I don’t see you keepin us busay, girl!” she says, giving another nudge of Tabby’s arm, “Roll that shit, lessee what you got!”
Tabby rolls, and it’s about to be a fourteen. No, not twice in a row. You need to put a stop to this.
Time slo...wait, what?
The dice cocks all the way over to a three, without your interference. As Tabby breathes a sigh of relief and excitedly tells you all about the time she dreamt about a terrifying shark-man when she was seven, you glance at Dyna, watching her eyes shifting once again from the pink of the dice to bright blue. She leans in to you as she gently takes the dice from Tab’s lap, putting her lips up against your right ear and whispering, her words sending an electric chill down your spine.
“I want you to pick, Bee~”
She smiles at you, and it’s just now that you realize she doesn’t just have a cup...she has a whole bottle of something pushed slightly out of sight, the cap no-where to be found. Just how much has she been drinking when you weren’t looking?
She rolls the dice, closing her eyes and trusting you...do you let the dice choose...or will you take charge? You wonder if she would know the difference…
Well, she *did* ask…
You reach forward faster than your friends’ eyes can register, and switch it to a natural twenty, not wanting there to be any doubt in Dyna’s mind as to whether or not you made the change. You expect Thea to scream or do something obnoxious, but she stays silent as you sense Tommy rise from the floor next to you. He stands up and smiles down at his sister, completely passed out on the couch, head resting peacefully on Tabby’s shoulder.
“She drank on the drive over.” He explains, picking her up in a bridal-carry and nudging her chair away from the couch. “I think we need to turn in for the night, anyway. Thea gets tired easily, and she still has more research to do for you three in the morning. Tabby, I hate to be a bother, but may we…”
“Of course!” Tabby exclaims, gesturing towards her room, “I’m just around the corner, but don’t you need somewhere to…”
“We’ll be fine with the one, I appreciate it. Don’t stop playing on our account, Ladies. Rest well, and we’ll see you all in the morning.”
With that, the siblings Merlyn disappear into Tabs’ bedroom, Tommy gently closing the door behind him with his heel. You watch them go, the distant sensation of something landing in your lap a little fuzzy in the corners of your attention span. You look over at Dyna, who sports a grin from ear to ear and who has her shirt pulled down all the way to her knees…man, that’s really stretchy fabric…you glance down, wondering if maybe you dropped your red panties that are absolutely Dyna’s oh Sweet Christmas she isn’t wearing anything under her shirt anymore. You feel lava fill your cheeks as Dyna turns to Tabs.
“We can stop, if you want…I’know I’ve had my fun, so I’m cool if you wanna stop~” she says, taking another drink. Tabby seems to mull it over for a second before looking resolutely at her drink, tipping it back, and finishing it all in one impressive shot. Coughing lightly from the experience, she chokes out weakly;
“I-I’m okay to keep going, or just talk…it’s up to you two.”
Dyna raises and eyebrow, turning to you.
“We need to get some rest, you two. This night was a wash, and we have two days to prepare before Vector comes…for all of us. We need to stay well rested, and close. I don’t want either of you out of my sight for longer than it takes to get back here.” You cast a fleeting, fearful glance at Tabby, gut-wrenching images of her head on the sidewalk flashing before your mind’s-eye.
Tabby nods, getting up to go to her bedroom, before realizing that it’s occupied, and meandering over to your room, giving you and Dyna a furtive look before disappearing into your bedroom to get ready for bed. Dyna turns to you, her flashing bright crimson as her underwear flies from your lap back to her hand. She playfully blow a raspberry at you and slips back into more decent shape, her long tee-shirt keeping your view averted.
“This was kinda fun…”Dyna starts, finishing a long final drink from the bottle of bizarrely flavored vodka before setting it on the table, “…gotta admit, I’m not fond of the girl, but the guy seems nice…little odd they’re so chill with sleeping in the same bed…I mean, Tabby’s bed is even smaller than mine.”
“I’d say something, but you’re one to judge.” You reply, giving a pointed look at your own bedroom door, where the three of you slept the night prior. It’s Dyna’s turn to blush, ever so slightly, her lips parting for a moment, a question on her breath a few seconds before she finally wills herself to ask it.
…thanks, for everything. These past few days…hours… Jesus…they’ve been hell, and you’ve been…amazing, Bee. I owe you. No, I’m serious!” she exclaims when you try to shrug off her claim, “You and Tabs have been better to me than…anybody else, and I just…dammit, just get over here, girl.”
She reaches out and pulls you forwards and into a deep, powerful hug, burying her face into the crook of your neck, bringing up memories of what happened the prior night. You wind your arms around her back and pull her gently closer, stepping back until the two of you fall sideways on the couch, a mirror of your position a short while earlier on the couch before the unexpected interruption.
“I’m sorry…” she says, soft voice muffled in your shirt. “For Vector, for dragging you into all this, for crashing here, for…for making things a-awkward between you and Tabby…she…really loves you, y’know? Y-you can see it in her eyes, she’s hopeless...”
Dyna laughs softly as her sentence trails off, gently pushing you away and wiping her eyes, now an aquamarine as she tries to rid herself of any trace of the tears that had begun to well in them.
“When we get through with Vector, when we beat him…and we *will* beat him…I can go back to my place and stay out of your hair, there’s no need…”
“There’s every need, Dyna.”
It’s not your voice that puts voice to what you were thinking, but the soft and demure sound of Tabby, walking out of your room in her PJs.
“You make Bee happy.” She continues, smiling at Dyna’s look of shock, “Bee….she means the world to me…and anything, any*one* that makes her happier is someone I want to keep in her…our…life. Please stay, Dyna.”
She hops over and puts her arms around the both of you, her small, accepting gesture the final crack in the dam holding back Dyna’s tears. You all sit like that for a while, drinking in the sensation of all three of you, together in the silence of the apartment.
Sleep claims them, Dyna and Tabby breathing softly as their frames wind around each other for comfort and warmth, but every time you shut your eyes…you see Tabby’s face as she falls. In the minutes (or is it hours) that you lie awake, the nightmare switches Tabby’s face for Dyna’s, and finally, just when you are about to fall asleep, it’s your own doomed body you’re chasing to the pavement, sirens blaring to come and scoop you…
…sirens?
You hear sirens in the distance, drawing closer and closer until finally they pass your apartment building…there must be half a dozen of them, by the sound…but that isn’t the only noise you hear. Whispers, coming from Tabby’s room, furtive and hushed, a dim light emanating from underneath the door. Then, a distant explosion rocks your apartment building, the shuddering impulse from the blast rousing you completely from any slumber you could have had, but Tabs and Dyna are still sound asleep.
Vector…he said you had three days…did he lie?
Kissing your two girls’ foreheads for luck, you slip into costume, ignoring the whispers that are emanating from the other room; they can wait. You’re out the door and riding the lightning along the streets in a blur of black and violet, red lightning streaming behind you as you out-pace the police cars and surge towards your target, a warehouse at the edge of downtown Central City. Slipping inside the abandoned, ramshackle place, you stifle a gasp at the carnage before you.
There are bodies everywhere, and given how well they’re armed, you doubt any of them are innocents caught in the crossfire. You step gingerly over a spent rocket launcher, no doubt the cause of the earlier blast, creeping forwards until a burst of sound echoes from further in the facility. You hear distant gunfire, cut short by cursing, cut to screams, then pure silence. Racing towards the echoes of chaos, you turn a corner to see a lone man, finely tailored suit and shined shoes an ill fit to his pleads for mercy as he scuffles towards the door, away from his bodyguards, whose bodies lay at his feet, scorch marks around their heads and chests.
“COUNCELLOR. EDWARD. MERCER.”
The solemn, gravelly voice that echoes through the pipes and machines of the warehouse force the man to his knees with its forceful condemnation.
“You and your peers have allowed the guilty to walk free so that they may line your pockets with their wares, heedless of the innocents they hurt. Do you deny this claim?” the voice calmly intones, and you can hear someone else, something else running along the catwalks above your head, shrouded in shadow.
“I...I can pay you to forget this!” the man pleads, acknowledging his guilt as he pleads pitifully with the vigilante, “This isn’t even where you operate! Just forget this, and I’ll leave your turf alo…”
“This may not be my home, Edward Mercer…”
Silence settles, Mercer holding his breath as he awaits his verdict...and it comes, quiet and calm in its certainty. You hear a bowstring tighten.
“...but you have *failed* this city.”
A torrent of flaming, spectral arrows explodes from the darkness, annihilating the pained form of Mercer in a verdant burst of light.
You shield your eyes, your eyes scorched with stark green light as you cry out from the pain. Your eyes slowly adjust to the light, and between you and the human bonfire stands the form of a slender young man, black and brown leather armor forming an imposing silhouette, a ghostly, viridescent longbow in one hand, and a quiver of equally spectral arrows strapped to his back.
His weapons flicker and fade out of sight as he walks forward, hands raised in a gesture of submission. A curious green ring on his left hand still shines that eerie verduous light from what looks like an Omega symbol engraved upon its surface. He reaches back, pulling back his hood and meeting your cautious gaze with tired green eyes. Tommy Merlyn flashes you a solemn, tired smile.
“Flywheel…Miss Artemisa. I believe my sister and I owe you some explanations.”
(Taking a break, work is getting intense. I will resume this evening. Thank you all for your participation, and hats off to the anon whose three questions earlier were all summed up by my last post. Stay safe, and I look forward to writing more for you all soon.)
.... we have so much reason to be pissed right now, i dont even know where to start.
>>
>>932674
I'm curious as to your reasoning. I certainly don't disagree, but I'd like to hear your thoughts.
>>
>>932719
Oh boy
1)lied to our face, by omission if nothing else
2)knows who we are, and the only people in that club so far are working for Vector. So thats a negative association.
3) murdered a boat load of people in "our" city making us an accomplice to multiple homicide, and potentially stirring up a hornets nest of trouble. Was it justified? Maybe, but weve seen Bee go out of her way to talk people out of murdering others. Not saying we would spare Vector of he was right in front of us, but its still our general attitude. Granted we have super speed not flaming explode arrows so live capture is more feasible.
4)who knows what kind of villains this kid is pulling behind him. We've already seen Tab die earlier today, we arent eager to deal with an entirely seperate rouges gallery.
Mostly its the bold to our face lie, and the shock of this much murder. Bee just probably wasnt in a very good place for this right now.
I say we use time reversal to resurrect Mercer, ask him if he likes being dead, and tell him to rethink his life.
>>
>>932752
yo, this Anon's got it.
let Tomarrow know that this isn't his city to dispense justice in, send him and his sister home NOW for any of the above reasons.
Also the time thing IF we can do that.
>>
>>932758
Eh maybe not kick them out...
After all Vector is coming for our sweet virgin ass in two days, and lanterns are heavy hitters.
Fucking early rings were miracle wish granting machines.
But they /certainly/ owe us the mother of all explanations.
Then the three of us who live there can decide whether to boot them. Tabsolute will want them to stay, Dynatron will want them gone.
>>
>>932752
>>932758
The rest of Mercer's bodyguards are past their expiration date, but Mercer himself can be resurrected by Bee's Time Trickster ability. I have two votes to do so, it seems.
last minute addon write in: "If you're gonna make me an accomplice to murder in MY CITY, you're gonna give me a DAMN good reason FIRST.
Then dramatically un-murder Mercer, and tell him that heavily armed guards are a bad look for a mayor before dropping him off in front of a police station.
>Speedster Quest - Episode 6: You Have Failed My City
Tommy Merlyn stands before you, his boyish charm ill-suited for the carnage he just invoked in the warehouse. He slowly lowers his hands and smiles, as you seethe with rage.
“I figure if we just go back to your apartment, we can wake up Miss Tabitha and Miss Bivolo, and …”
“NO!”
Your shout echoes throughout the complex, your arms and legs tensing, feeling the lightning crawl underneath your skin, itching to run, run right up to and *through* Merlyn…
“Come again?”
“I said *no.*” you say again through gritted teeth. “Tabby, Dyna...they deserve a good night's sleep. Tabby deserves to wait until morning to learn that her best friend’s brother is a murderer...does your sister know what you do at night, Merlyn?!”
There’s a crackle of static, as the sound system for the old warehouse sparks to life again, a heavy sigh emanating from the collective speakers. Thea clear her throat to speak.
“Yes, I do. I’m his eyes in the sky, so to speak.” She sounds different, almost mournful.” We wanted to tell you in the morning, but I got a lead on…”
“That doesn’t give either of you the right to bring your *shitshow* to Central City! If you’re going to make me an accomplice to murder in *MY* city, you two had better give me a damn good reason first!”
“Vector is coming to end you in two days. We came to help.” Thea says, and you feel the color drain from your face as the realization hits you. They *knew?*
“How the hell do you know who Vector…”
“Because he tried to make my brother and I a deal.” Thea explains, your mind reeling. “He said he’d...make things right. All he needed was for us to join him and…”
Her voice falters as Tommy steps forward, hands raised in peace.
“He said he could undo the crash. Thea...she could walk again. Thea...refused, when she heard the terms of his deal. We came to this city to warn you and…”
He flinches as you blitz past him, staring at the pile of ashes that was once Councillor Mercer. Maybe...maybe you could reverse this?
“You came to pass out in our place and murder people in my city, is that it?” you ask, kneeling down and placing a shaking hand on the ashes, feeling the electricity start to flow through you, as your fingers caress, feel out, and finally grab a hold of the kinetic connections of Mercer’s dusty present...and the motions that lead him here...you don’t have long...but you think you can reverse what happened to him…
“What are you doing?” Thea asks, a lilt of fear in her voice. Tommy folds his arms behind you, fixing you with a cold stare.
“Exactly what Vector hopes she can do.”
What do you do?
>A: Attempt to use Time’s Trickster to reverse the damage done, and make Mercer whole again...he can be brought to justice another way...the way Tabby would advocate.
>B: There’s no point in bringing him back...Merlyn might have done you a favor by getting rid of this scumbag, but he and his sister have a lot to answer for. Your turn to Merlyn, and (write-in).
“Your city, your rules, Merlyn. But when you’re in *my* city, you follow *my* rules...so sit back and shut the hell up so I can fix the damage you two have done.”
You concentrate, feeling the strands of energy...entropy...time...ebb and flow around you, ebb, and flow...ebb and…stop.
You have it in your hands, now, the lines of power that sealed this man’s fate. You grab hold of them...and *pull.* The strain is immense, unlike anything you’ve ever felt before. Red clouds your vision and you taste copper on your tongue but you...keep…*pulling,* watching the ashes that were once Edward Mercer reform before your eyes, into the man he was a few moments before Merlyn incinerated him.
>HP has been decreased by 33% this session due to the colossal strain on Bee’s body, but future attempts to use Time’s Trickster to bring back that which is no more will be both faster and consume less health on use.
Mercer stands before you and opens his eyes, sweat pouring off his temples and gasping for breath. You put one foot in front of the other, striding over to him and grabbing his wrist, speeding him to the police station. You race back to Merlyn, stopping just half a foot in front of him. He doesn’t even flinch, your breath hot and angry as it escapes you.
“Here’s what happens, so listen to me very carefully.” You begin, holding up your index finger, “First, we are going to go back to my apartment. Find your own damn way, I’m not carrying your murderous ass.”
“Fair.” Tommy nods.
“Second.” You hold up another finger, “I’m telling Tabby about what you’ve done here when she gets up.”
Your hear Thea make a small sound of protest over the sound system, but you cut her off.
“THREE. You’re going to tell me everything you know about Vector and whatever plans he has….and then you and your sister are getting out of Tabby and Dyna’s space, or else we’re going to have words. Do I make myself clear?”
Merlyn gives a curt nod, and Thea makes a small squeak of affirmation. You’re gone and back by your bedside before either of them can even think to utter a word, staring down at Tabby and Dyna, sleeping peacefully against each other. The fact that Tabby is currently spooning the much taller Dyna puts a smile on your lips you didn’t even think could be produced, but there it is. You quietly take off the costume Tabs spent so much effort on, and neatly fold it and stash it away, climbing into bed with them. You don’t sleep, but when dawn breaks far too soon, you find yourself a little better rested, a little more ready.
Tabby stares into her tea in shock, you and Dyna flanking her in chairs by her side as the two of you glare at Tommy and Thea Merlyn, the latter of whom looks deeply uncomfortable, even as Tommy’s arm finds its way around her narrow shoulders. Bright Monday morning light streams in through the windows, but the air fails to warm up as you all sit in cold, awkward silence.
“How... how long did you two…” Tabs starts, not knowing where to begin.Tommy holds up a hand to stop her, offering an explanation.
“What hit our plane, what killed Mom and Dad and...took Thea’s legs from her...wasn’t a piece of space junk. It was a man...one that was wearing this.” he explains, taking the ring off his left hand and placing it on the table, sliding it towards Tabby. Dyna’s eyes flash green, sending it sliding right back towards his hand. She still doesn’t make a sound, her arm clasped protectively on Tabs’ shoulder.
“Tommy used it to save me from the wreckage, if he hadn’t, I would have…” Thea says, her confidence gone, replaced with dejected, guilty air. Her brother touches his forehead to hers, and Dyna shifts uncomfortably.
“Ring or no, I never would have left you...I’d die before…”
Tabby and Thea jolt as Dyna practically explodes out of her chair, eyes a furious scarlet as she looms over the siblings.
“You two are gonna die a lot fucking sooner if you two assholes don’t get to the point about Vector and this mess. You said he tried to recruit you. *Why?* What does he want with Bee?” she demands, leaving no space between her flurry of questions, and only pausing when Tabby puts a gentle hand on her arm, leading her to sit back down.
“He...he wants to use your powers to reverse a lot more than one criminal, one life.” Thea explains, shrinking away from the three of you, “...He told Tommy he wants Bee to reverse *everything*, back to a point before all of this happened, before…”
“...before Flashpoint.” Tommy says, finishing her sentence. “That’s what he called the divergence from his original timeline, and he claimed that by ‘teaching’ you, you would obtain the power to reverse things back to the way he said they were from his time. That’s how he recruited all of his worshipers; Snow, through the death of her fiance. For Rathaway, it was the death of his son.”
He looks at Dyna. “He offered you a similar deal, I understand.”
You can feel Dyna’s temperature increase from here, her eyes flashing through a myriad of hateful colors.
Maybe you should step in…
>A: Ask why they declined Vector’s offer...they hardly seem the type to turn down an offer to have their old lives back.
>B: Ask about Vector’s plan...just how in the hell does he expect you to go along with his delusion?
“He says that he wants to ‘teach’ me.” You begin, “What would make him think I’d just reverse everything? Why would I erase all the experiences I’ve had...my memories with Tabby...meeting Dyna?”
“Better yet, why doesn’t this douchebag do it his own damn self?” Dyna interjects, leaning towards the siblings. “From what Busy Bee tells me, he’s plenty fast fast enough to pull a Back to the Future whenever he damn well pleases.”
“I asked.” Thea whispers, not daring to meet Dyna’s eyes. “H-he said that he was like a broken faucet in this universe, this timeline...he said that Bee was the pump that could that could draw out a certain force’s true power in a way he couldn’t."
“The way he planned to do that…” Tommy says, his face dark, “...is by making your life like ours, like everyone who followed him. He’s going to kill the one...ones...you love, and with his speed, there’s not stopping him alone.”
You feel cold hands wrap around your heart, the air chilled in your lungs as Vector’s plan settles into your realization like a coffin in a grave.
“Tabby...Dyna, he…he knows I’d do it in a heartbeat...if you two...” Your eyes are hot with tears, Tabby immediately holding you in her arms and stroking your hair. Your raven-haired friend crosses her arms and raises a suspicious eyebrow, settling her auburn eyes on the Merlyn siblings.
“So why were you two the odd ones out, huh? Why didn’t you fold and try to take a shot at us?” Dyna demands, Thea shrinks further away, her cheeks flushing furiously and her hands fidgeting nervously. Tommy is the first to speak, reaching out and taking Thea’s nervous hands in his.
“...Because we know what happened to us...the way we are...it’s our punishment. We have to accept that. We may not be able to change ourselves, but...I can try to atone…”
He goes silent, the rest of his confession going unsaid as his sister run her hands through his hair. Thea looks at you three, her old boldness returning to her amber eyes.
“Wait a second…” Dyna’s face twisting into a sneer of disgust, “...I remember reading about…”
“We may do things differently than you do, but we want, we *need* to help. Please, we want to help make things right...we want you to be safe, Tabby. You were so kind to us, when everyone else vilified us, when the papers wrote such horrible things...we owe you so much...please give us the chance to pay you back. We have to atone…”
All eyes are, once again, on you. You feel like the weight of this choice will have echoes further than what is merely transpiring here…
>A: Send them back to Starling City. Merlyn’s a loose cannon, and neither of them can be trusted. You need your crew to have each others’ backs at all times, and you can’t be sure that they’ll be true to their words.
“Fine. You can stay, but if we beat…”
“...*when* we beat Vector, you both go back to Central City. And Merlyn? No killing under my watch, unless it’s to protect any of them from harm.” you order, gesturing to the other three girls. He considers you for a moment, then finally gives a short nod in agreement.
You all confer for a short while, talking over details, and one imperative presents itself; you all need to train, to see how you, Dyna, and Merlyn all work together, if at all. It’s a rainy Monday afternoon in Central City Park, with no-one in sight; the perfect place to see what you are capable of without prying eyes, with most everyone either at work, in class (you skipped, obviously), or otherwise staying out of the rain. You and Merlyn, in full costume, and Dyna...still in her black shirt and jeans...stride out to the center of the open field. You let Merlyn pace ahead of you, taking a moment to slip close to Dyna and ask the question that has been preying on your mind.
“Hey, what’s up with the Merlyns? You seemed to know what they're trying to ‘atone’ for, or whatever, back at the apartment…”
“They...ugh.” Dyna’s lip curls, making sure Tommy is well out of earshot before speaking. “Anyway, the rumor was that they were close, but their rich-ass parents owned enough news rags to keep it out of anything but the Inquirer, or whatever. That changed once their plane went down, and the media went nuts when they learned that the kids had been cut out of the will….*both* of them. A lot of people said Thea getting paralyzed was punishment...though why it couldn’t have happened to that jackwad instead of his sister is beyond me.”
“Wait...you mean close...like...oh God, ‘close-close?! Are you telling me that they fu...”
“Yes, Miss Artemisa. *That* close.” You and Dyna freeze, Merlyn walking onwards as he speaks. “MIss Bivolo, regardless of how similar our mindsets are in regards to how we wish that crash had ended, I must urge you to focus on the more pressing matter; that of Miss Tabitha Fairweather’s well-being, if you would. Come along.”
You’ve gone pale, and Dyna, red, but you both keep walking until you reach a more secluded clearing, further in the woods. There’s still places to run, but more to hide than you’d like...which is better for Dyna and Merlyn, admittedly.
“Miss...Flywheel.” Merlyn announces, correcting himself, “I leave the specifics of our bout to you. I would very much like to see how we fair in a free-for-all.”
“I was thinking I could try and take you both...it’d be fun, being able to cut loose~” Dyna says with a smirk. You admit, she did have a leg up on you in your first, albeit accidental fight a few nights ago.
You ponder over it…
“One on one, alternating until we finish things off with a free-for-all, like Merlyn said.”
“You and me first, how’s about~?” Dyna asks, a playful note in her voice as she saunters away from you shooing away the black-clad archer. Merlyn nods, and steps back to observe.
You settle down into sprinting position, and Merlyn starts his countdown.
“Bee?” Dyna calls out, a dozen yards away from you.
“One!”
“Yeah?”
“Two!”
“Rush me. Punch me, hard. I wanna try something~”
“THREE!”
You surge forwards feeling the lightning carry you straight towards Dyna, the wind and rain having no choice but to part before you, time slowed to a serene, beautiful crawl. You run straight towards Dyna, the rain picking up, the wind rushing...wait, how is…
You punch towards Dyna, and she skillfully moves out of the way, the rain falling heavily, now....which should be impossible. You surge forwards again, and succeed in landing a light blow to her ribs, but her counter-punch comes so *fast*, your legs feeling like a ton of bricks as you finally catch her eyes and...
...oh that brilliant, beautiful jerk.
She smiles at you, her eyes a stunning blend of black, gold, and purple, her irises resembling the complexities of a swirling galaxy. It’s a point you’d have loved to take more time to notice before Dyna brings a right-handed uppercut around to strike your chin, but you deftly dodge out of the way, straining against her suppression of your speed via Tabby’s tailor-made suit.
“Cease!” Merlyn yells, the two of you freezing in place, faces stoic and serious for a split-second before you both burst into laughter.
“That was *amazing,* how long have you known how to do that?” you ask incredulously, pulling her in for a hug.
“Slowing down Flywheel by controlling her suit...if you can apply that process to Vector, we would have the edge we may need to ki...defeat him.” Merlyn says, catching himself for your sake. Dyna ignores him, answering your question.
“It actually occurred to me last night, when I took my underwear back from you.” she says with a wink, and Merlyn raises his eyebrow, a gesture visible even with his hood and mask.
“Flywheel, I would very much like to test myself against Raider.”
The look of joy on Dyna’s face vanishes the moment he finishes his sentence. She turns around, her eyes shifting to wholly black...the color of Merlyn’s suit.
“What did you just call me, Magic Man?”
He considers for a moment, then bends double in a low bow. “I apologize. It was...the name that Vector referred to you as. I understand that it has negative connotations. Please forgive me. Is there a code name you would rather be referred to by?”
“...I hadn’t really thought about it, actually. Magic Man, what little nickname do you call yourself, huh?”
“...Arrow...despite my sister’s protests that I should be called The Quiver, I quickly vetoed that.” Merlyn shrugs.
“Did...did you just try to make a joke?” Dyna laughs incredulously, the ‘Arrow’ shifiting from foot to foot uncomfortably.
“I...yeah. I mean, it...okay, we need to focus. You and I, Miss Bivolo, ten meters away, then Flywheel gives the signal. Ready?”
Dyna nods, striding over to you and whispering conspiratorially with almost childlike glee.
“Okay Bee, how do you want me to kick his ass, huh?”
Well...you don’t know too much about what her strengths are, but you think it would be best to…
>A: Do to him what she did to you; shift eyes to green, and see if she can cancel out or mess with his ring powers...it’s worth a shot (Dyna’s CROMAKINTETIC - MACRO stat will Increase).
>B: There’s plenty of shadows around here, she could form some armor and work on her defensive fighting style against the overwhelming power of his arrows (BLACK IRON stat will increase
Yep still love Dynasty Warrior's powers.
~DYNA - LEVEL UP~
Choose ONE Active Ability, and ONE Passive Ability from the ones below;
~ACTIVES~
>Black Parade: Dyna’s control over her favorite color eclipses her prowess over any other, negating her ability to use any color other than black, but allowing her to use it both offensively and defensively, simultaneously.
>Light ‘em Up: Dyna’s influence over the visible spectrum now allows her to control up to three colors simultaneously, and control intangible things with them as well (blue gas, yellow lightning, etc.)
>Where Did the Party Go: Inspired by Bee, Dyna has now learned to teleport between spots of color, appearing and disappearing through walls, floors, and even people, if she can climb through the patch of color.
~PASSIVES~
>What We Are In The Dark: Dyna’s compassion and adoration of Tabby and Bee produces a passive shield of darkness around them at all times, reducing incoming damage by 25% if one of them is present, and by 10% if both are present, as she splits her focus to do so.
>Taste the Rainbow: Dyna has learned to cycle through colors rapidly, reducing the cooldown between affecting different colors to zero and allowing her much greater flexibility in combat.
~MERLYN - LEVEL UP~
Choose ONE Active Ability, and ONE Passive Ability from the ones below, OR *ONE* DUAL TECH;
~ACTIVES~
>You Have Failed This City: Merlyn applies a Hunter’s Mark to a single target, boosting his damage against that target by 25% and allowing him to track said target as long as they are within the city.
>Horde Breaker: Merlyn’s skills versus more than one foe get sharper, making each successive attack against a different foe deal a fraction of that damage to their allies as well, in the form of emerald bolts that continue firing off his bow.
~PASSIVES~
>Muse of Fire: Tommy and Thea’s bond deepens, granting the Merlyn siblings the ability to anticipate and warn their allies and each other of danger one round before it happens, as well as making Merlyn and allies within sight range immune to additional damage from critical hits.
>Love, Loss, and Vengeance: Grants a 10% attack power boost whenever an ally or enemy falls in combat. Stacks up to ten times, stacks decay after combat ends.
>I Had One Goal…Survive: Reduces the overall power of Merlyn’s attacks by 25%, but reroutes the ring’s power to bolstering his defenses, reducing incoming damage by 50%.
He may be harsher than Bee, but he seems to have a great deal of loyalty.
>>
>>936169
>>936169
It grants her immense offensive power at the cost of stripping other color based abilities to their bare minimum, which is a permanent change.
I had originally intended for her to be this Flashpoint's incarnation of Shade, but changed her to Rainbow Raider since it let me play around a little more with her powerset.
>>
I have a strong dislike for that, unless the follow up ability is "Paint it black"
This won't be the only time Dyna (and potentially Merlyn, too) will level up, and powers can evolve, much like Bee's.
>>
>>936237
>>936223
Even then it feels like a bit of a step backwards
Even though you could say it would be the emotional equivalent of letting go of the past and her brothers death and moving forward with her life...
Party roles
>Flywheel: melee striker/tank/debuff
We are the only ones likely to be able to keep up with Vector, so this is our role
>Dynasaur: ranged debuff primary, striker secondary
If she can slow us to a crawl she can probably reduce barry to normal speedster levels.
>Arrow: primary ranged striker, possible buffs
Probably the highest direct damage dealer we have.
~PASSIVES~
~SPECIAL ABILITY UNLOCKED: Where Did the Party Go + Taste the Rainbow = Chroma Rave~
>Chroma Rave: Bee can spend 50% of her KP meter to lend kinetic power to Dyna, allowing her to swarm her foes with a flurry of high-speed attacks from as many angles as there are colors around enemies. Works better in enclosed spaces.
~~~~~

~MERLYN ABILITIES~

~ACTIVES~

>Horde Breaker: Merlyn’s skills versus more than one foe get sharper, making each successive attack against a different foe deal a fraction of that damage to their allies as well, in the form of emerald bolts that continue firing off his bow.

~SPECIAL MOVE UNLOCKED: Horder Breaker + Muse of Fire = Overwatch~

>Overwatch: Bee can expend 50% of her KP meter to lend kinetic energy to Merlyn, enhancing his reflexes to where he can counter-attack at high speed by tagging an opponent, which has a high chance to stun or knock an enemy prone, wasting their action.

A misty sort of evening has settled over Central City, as you, Dyna, and Merlyn enter your apartment to the sounds and smells of dinner on the verge of being ready. You turn into the kitchen, ready to scoop Thea up in your arms and...wait.

...Thea? She looks up at you from her chair, a ladle of chili held limply in her hand.

“Sup. Try this and tell me if I added too much bourbon.” she says, shoving the chili in your face. “Where’s Tabby?’ you ask, gently pushing it aside, glancing about the apartment.

“Oh, she’s putting the final touches on Dyna’s…”

“COSTUMES!!!!”

You all jump as Tabby kicks open the door to her room and yells with joy, three costumes draped over her arms and shoulder.

“Yo, Bee’s already got a kickin’ outfit…” Dyna says, looking up from your computer...again? Dammit…

“They’re for you!” Tabby exclaims, pouncing on Dyna and forcing the clothes into her arms on top of your laptop. She looks up at the petite brunette incredulously, Tabs adjusting her glasses, accentuating the look of pride on her face.

“I...what? But I like my clo…”

“That’s not the point!” Tabby counters, putting her hands on her hips. “They’re built to hide your true identity! If you’re going to be staying with us, we can’t have everyone knowing exactly who you are the moment you show up!”

Dyna looks taken aback, before a small, sweet smile brightens her face.

“Well, if you’ll have me, then I guess I gotta be more careful...I’m not sure which one to pick, though...Bee!”

You quickly swallow a mouthful of chili and stride over.

“You’ll be seeing me in this most often, so which one do you wanna see me in~?” she asks playfully, displaying them proudly as Tabby looks on hopefully, eyes glinting behind her round glasses.
Well, you’d really prefer the…

>A: One with all the colors, a simple, multicolored mask paired with a spandex suit that’s a dizzying array of colors that, thanks to Tabby’s expert eye, all blend together quite well while keeping in theme.

>B: The jet black one that, when you touch it, shimmers and shines with a mind-boggling spectrum of colors, seemingly reacting to the warmth of your touch...

>C: A shining, silver jacket, top, and pants, reflecting the surroundings as though it were a mirror, somehow enhancing the colors its sequins enhances. A pair of mirrored shades complete the ensemble.

You feel redness creep into your cheeks as you look at the jet black one...you could be matching, and given that it’s just as tight as yours, and reacts to *heat*...

“Hey now, quit drooling~” Dyna teases, snapping you out of your daydream as she folds the black one and sets it apart from the others, smiling up at Tabby as she does so.

“I’ll take the dark one, darling~”

“Of *course* you would.” Tabby replies with a wink and a bow, scooping up the remaining two in her arms and trotting off to her room.

“I salvaged the soup.” Tommy declares from the kitchen, his sister fighting with him in vain to reclaim the kitchen, “Dinner’s ready in ten minutes, so...hey! What’d I say about biting!?”

You and Dyna watch the Merlyn siblings duel over the ladle for a moment before you both settle next to each other on the couch. Breathing in the warm, comforting air of your apartment, laced with the smell of bubbling chili and sweet cinnamon. You a fraction of the tension trapped in your muscles out with a deep sigh, and Dyna takes that as her cue to reach out, taking your shoulders in her capable hands and working even more stress out with her skillful touch. Your eyes grow heavy, and you’re only vaguely aware of Tabs’ presence as she stands over you, a thoughtful finger on her lips, as though she’s pondering something. You feel your shoes slipped off your feet, and tiny hands begin to experiment with how best to ease the pain of your much-abused heels.

Tabby and Dyna, easing your pain as best they know how; incredible foot and shoulder rubs.

Pure decadence.

You feel like the threat of Vector is nothing compared to the potency of this unbeatable combination, and despite your post-training hunger you swear under your breath when Tommy and Thea announce in unison that dinner is ready.

Dinner (miraculously, given the level of disdain between Dyna and Merlyn, not to mention the tension of earlier in the day) goes off without a hitch, with only a few awkward pauses between otherwise pleasant stretches of casual conversation. Thea and Tommy offer to help with the dishes, and solo them capably, making a successful team of washer and dryer, respectively. Dyna somehow procured some blank printer paper, and is now busying herself with making new creations, no doubt to replace the ones lost in her apartment, which is still an active crime scene. Tabby is hurriedly gathering everyone’s clothes to start one, probably two loads of laundry in preparation for the coming day...it’s the last one before…before He...

...Your legs itch for something to do, as you survey the little boarding house of misfits and metas your apartment seems to have become in such a short time...you watch the siblings Merlyn retreat to Tabby’s room, but mercifully leave the door open.

You have no real plans, so what do you want to do?

>A: Help Tabby with the Laundry...she could use the help, her stick arms aren’t doing her any favors with what she has to deal with, and besides...you haven’t been able to see as much of her as you would have liked, today.

>B: Sit down with Dyna and watch her creative process...you’d seen her doodle and sketch in class, but you’ve never seen her work with color….off the battlefield, that is. Plus, she knows how to leverage the couch for primo snuggles, and you always have a hankering for snuggles.

>C: Go and have a sit-down with Thea and Tommy Merlyn. Most of your interactions with them have been with Dyna and Tabby by your side...or in a warehouse full of corpses and ex-corpses you’re welcome, Councillor). You could stand to learn what they’re like when they aren’t put on the spot...maybe you could find out where their heads are in this whole mess.

>D: You honestly like some time to yourself...The Arrow, Dyna’s abilities, Atticus being Vector...it’s a lot to take in. Your legs itch for a run, and you thoughts could use the white noise of a good run to drown them out. A few minutes in the city wouldn’t hurt.

“Hey Tabs, need a hand?”

She’s about to reject your offer when several shirts topple from the pile she’s attempting wrestle to the laundry room, just off the main living space. She blinks, and their shirts are not only back in her hands, but they’re the only burden she carries, the rest of the load cradled in your arms. She looks at you, wide-eyed, and you give her a little wink.

“I could help fold, at least?”

A dazzling smile dances across her face as she lights up at you.

“Sure!”

It take a while, the load of laundry making it through the wash and into the dryer, before you finally gather the nerve for deeper conversation.

“Tabby, I...Tabs.” You begin, your mind racing over stumbling blocks no one has put in your path but you, “Did you mean what you said, last night? About Dyna staying with us? Are...are you *sure* about that? I m-mean, before I brought her here, we...you...”

Tabby casts her gaze aside, sliding her glasses off her button nose and fidgeting with them for a few moments before speaking.

“Yes...I think. She came from a bad place, and I know that we can help her…”

You hold up a hand to pause her before she goes any further.

“It isn’t about helping her, Tabby. I’m asking you, what do *you* want. No tricks, no traps, no bullshit. You’ve known me long enough to realize I don’t have the patience or the headspace for that, not with you...not with people that matter.”

It’s a long moment before she speaks again, this time focusing on your face, taking in every detail as she carefully forms her words.

“I...I didn’t feel anything, before you. I *tried*, but I just...it just didn’t take...I never felt any of the stuff in the songs, or like in the movies...I wanted to look at someone like that, and just…*feel*, you know?”

You edge yourself a little closer to her, to catch every word against the soft thrum of the dryer, the warmth from it comforting in the enclosed space of the laundry room.

“And...then you ran into my life.” she says, breaking out into a wistful smile, locking her brilliant eyes with yours. “I saw you running, you know? The second day you’d come to school, and I was walking by the track with Thea and...there you were.”

“It was like when I first got these things...” she fiddles with the earpiece of her spectacles, “...and it was like I could finally really *see.* I *got* it, and all the songs made sense, and Thea wouldn’t shut up about how long I had stood there, just watching you lose yourself in your run...It took me about a week to f-finally muster up the nerve to talk to you...it was after Lit class, and…”

“We just finished Metamorphosis, yeah.” you complete with a grin.

“Yep! Your voice gave me goosebumps...you...you still do…”

She falls quiet for a moment, and you give her some time to think in silence before she resumes.

“The, um...the point I kind of want to make is...well, our life is strange, Bee. I thought that...I’d *lost* you when that lightning struck you, and then few weeks later you could circle the city in a second. It’s been four days, and you’ve brought another amazing girl into our home, and she...I can really tell she’s *trying* to work with us...that she want to be a part of what...whatever it is we are.”

“So I guess...if our world is allowed to have all these crazy new things in it….time travelers, alternate worlds, best-friends who turn out to be vigilantes, and a girl with no fashion sense who can move things by *color*...”

Your laugh at her last point, but it’s cut short by the sincerity and acceptance written on in her eyes as reaches out to your chin, cupping it softly in her hands.

“...If the world is allowed to have all these new things in it...then why can’t we...why can’t you, Dy and me...be something new? Together?”

Words fail you as she brings your lips to hers, her kiss the perfect punctuation to her thesis, the perfect summation of her desire to be with you. You both part, and she leans in again to give you a quick peck on the cheek.

“I can finish this...I’m sure you’re needed elsewhere, love.” she says, the last word off her tongue making your heart skip a beat.

Dyna doesn’t acknowledge your approach, so you take a moment to look over her shoulder at her art...in one, she’s captured motion blue so well with nothing but pure color, a dark, jagged figure hurtling along with red streaks trailing in its wake...you start for a moment when you realize you’re looking at yourself, at Flywheel, through her eyes. You look to another one, more of a sketch, this one of a slim figure reading a book in a windowsill, glasses threatening to fall off her nose...Tabby’s height amusingly exaggerated, but having the effect of making her appear austere learned, a lady of the world...is that how she sees your Tabby? Another one, this one of considerably lower quality than the rest, a black-and green figure with a small, waifish girl clinging to his back, almost gremlin-like in her…

...you let out a sharp laugh when you realize who it depicts, and Dyna nearly tears a hole through her latest project from the surprise.

“Christ, Bee! Way to creep on a girl...not that I mind, but…~”

“Scoot, I wanna see more.” you demand, bumping her aside lightly and scooting closer to her for equitable space on the couch. Dyna seems to fill any seat or space she seems to occupy, and you have to fight her gangly, hydra-like limbs for dominance if you want to sit anywhere near her. Which you do...more often than not.

“I, um...I know there’s a lot more productive things I could be doing with the time we have available, I just...stress relief, you know?” she says, giving an awkward shrug, a guilty expression on her face. You stiffen your upper lip, giving a look of comically cold command.

“The artiste should never apologize for their craft, you see, yes yes.” you say in your best British accent, and Dyna breaks out into a fit of stress-induced laughter, Tommy Merlyn pointedly shutting the door to their allotted room.

“So, you kinda kicked ass out there today.” you say when her sides stop convulsing with laughter. She forces out a few more cursory chuckles, before nodding at you, glimmering blue eyes studying you up and down before she speaks with a smirk.

“You were pretty hot out there today, too~” she says, sticking her tongue out at you, “I bet you can’t wait until we’re on the prowl in Central City, all slutted up in our spandex while Tabby’s up here pimping us out FOR JUSTICE, and…”

It’s your turn to lose it, your sides burning with laughter as she pats your back, with you both finally shifting positions to get comfortable until her feet are in your lap, and you have an idea.

You reach for her socks, gently plucking them off as a look of alarm crosses Dyna’s face…

The moment your hand touches her foot, she gives short yelp, her hands flying to her mouth to silence herself before she makes any more noise. You look at her, awestruck.

“You’re *ticklish*!?” you say, a scowl furrowing her brow, “Cool, collected, master-Judge Dyna Bivolo has ticklish feet...why, I never…”

“Hush, you...I bet you got your tickly bits too, Flywheel~” She says as you wrestle her foot into submission. She struggles, but you have a few pounds of muscle on her, and you finally start to rub her feet in earnest, mirroring her demonstration on you last week, careful to not make any light, ticklish moves. The furrow on her brow this time isn’t one of ticklishness, but one of concern. You continue to work her feet in silence, until she finally breaks it.

“I can’t let Vector change this.” she says, simply.

“Damn...are my foot rubs that good, or…”

“No, that’s...I mean, yeah they are but…” she stumbles over her words for a moment before getting back on track, her blue eyes watching you work, not meeting your inquisitive glances, “...I’ve never felt so at home, so *welcome*, since...since Roy died. When he, when Vector came to me and said I could have him back, said I could go back and change things, it was what I had lost sleep over...it wa the chance to fix my biggest mistake...but now I’m here, and I feel like I had been missing so much for so long, hiding in the dark and hating myself for what I did.”

Your eyes and her finally meet.

“Thank you, Bee. You and Tabby, you both welcomed me in, when I...or part of me, almost killed you. Tab Soda could have called the cops, or CCPD, or thrown my ass out, and I wouldn’t have blamed her, but...she made freaking breakfast, and then you walked in like it was no big deal, and...she and you, you made me feel like this was where I *belonged*, and…”

She swallows, wiping her eyes on her sleeve.

“Just...thank you, really. I don’t know where I’d be without you two.”

You both smile at each other, a long moment passing as you get lost in her eyes, abandoning your massage efforts entirely for the chance to just drink in her presence.

“I’m gonna just do this for a while longer, ‘kay?” she says, turning back to her work, “You, um...and Tabs, don’t...wait up for me, I guess? I’m gonna have to get used to this.”

You stand up, consider her for a moment, and then lean back down, parting her hair with a gentle hand and kissing her on the cheek.

“Have fun.” You say with a wink at her blushing face.

Your eyes are starting to get heavy, but you could maybe do one more thing before bed…

You amble over to Tommy and Thea’s room, and hear them talking animatedly behind the closed door. You can’t quite make out what they’re saying for the interfering hum of the heater in their room, so you make a mental note to catch them in the morning. Turning around, you cross through your bedroom into the balcony, overlooking some of the smaller apartment complexes on your side of town. You always liked this view...the look and feel of the brickwork, the fragments of the city lit up, even the misty evening serves to make the city seem fuller, brighter. You climb onto the railing, feeling the lightning bolstering your legs, urging you to let loose…

...you oblige, setting your sights on the top of the Central City Bank headquarters, the tallest building in your line of sight. You race down the side of your apartment building, thunder cracks punctuating every footfall, every powerful, purposeful step towards your goal. You’re there in a moment, but you take your time, meandering the city streets and passers-by, frozen in time as you take in the sights, for maybe the last…

...no, you run to the top of the CCB Headquarters and breathe in, your lungs on fire from the cold night air as your eyes adjust to the brightness of the city. You are admiring the skyline when feel your hair stand on end, and a chill runs down your spine at the surge of electricity that you know all too well, one that does not belong to you…

...one that does not belong in this world.

It’s almost a relief when Vector...no...when Barry Allen speaks, and it’s the pleasant, familiar voice of Professor Atticus that greets you on this deathly cold night.

“I suppose I shouldn’t be surprised that we share the same habits.” He says.

Your mouth is dry, but you’re not going to falter....you’re not going to panic.

There’s too much at stake.

You will your heart to stop hammering in your throat, fists clenching and unclenching by your side.

“Maybe I should work for us to have more in common.” you say, every word laced with contempt, “Maybe then your friends would follow me and we could end this faster, *Vector.*”

Vector merely smiles, gazing down at the city from atop your perch, hands behind his back. He’s wearing a casual dark jacket similar to yours, sans cane. His messy blond hair verges on white, and he looks so much older than he ever did in class, the lines in his face making him look drawn and exhausted. It’s almost like he’s trying, and failing, to appear more human. More like you.

“I saw the three of you, where I am from.” He says simply, eyes still locked on scanning the cityscape. “You, Dyna, and Tabitha. It was when two of my friends from Star Labs went out on the town…they were trying to figure out how to get me drunk…speedster physiology is a tricky thing, as I’m sure you’ve figured out.”

You search his face for a point to this tangent, his sky-blue eyes filled with something like melancholy…or is it guilt?

“You were sitting with them, and I heard you discussing your new house. You were all a little older than you are now, and Cisco couldn’t help but walk over and congratulate you all…we bought you three a round of drinks, and…here, now, in this timeline…Cisco died, and his brother lived. Caitlin lost her one true love and fell to her powers. I’ve spent fifteen years wallowing in this mistake that I made. I’m ready to go back *home*, Bee.”

“Only my friends call me that.” You retort lamely, and he smiles weakly.

“What’s stopping us from being friends, really?” he asks with a shrug, finally turning to face you full-on. “With what you can do, with what I gave you, you could go back and fix everything. You could spend more time with Tabitha…you could stop Dyna’s brother from dying…you could take the bottle from your mother’s hands and…”

“And what, Allen? Make it all better? Make it so the people I go back and see are different that the people I know now? Going back doesn’t make things better, Vec…”

He’s an inch from your face. You didn’t even see him move as his fiery blue eyes stare into yours, wild with thought and possibility.

“Yes, Bee. Yes, it does. You saved Tabitha when I gave you my last lesson, a demonstration of exactly what you are now capable of. You. Can. SAVE. Them. We can go back, right now, just you and me, and we can live our lives in the world as it was *meant* to be…imagine, Artemisa!”

He sweeps his arms wide, gazing out over the lights of Central City.

“You could have it all! Dyna would be happy with her brother! The reactor doesn’t have to explode! You could save this city and the ones you love so much pain, so much heartbreak! You’d never have to see me again, and you three could be free to live your lives…in *peace.*”

You fix him with a cold, hard stare, you cheeks hot as the gears turn in your mind, weighing the possibilities. He turns to you, arms at his sides, and smiles that faint smile once again, this time filled with a small glimmer of hope.

“What do you say, Bee?”

"... Thats tempting. Fix everything huh? My mom, Tabs, Dyna, the metas, everyone theyve killed, but where does that end Barry? When we're what? God? When nothing bad ever happens ever because we zoom back and forth fixing it? Is- is that what you did? Is that why your like... this? I love Dyna, and Tabby. And I will fight for them. I know your faster than me, maybe you always will be, but that doesnt make you right. I dont know your world, so I can't just take your word for it Barry. Because If your world was so damn perfect, then what are you doing here?"
>>
>>939527
Wait, OOC our temporal reversal works on fundamentally different principles from running into the past.

If we "reset" Barry to pre-flashpoint would that invalidate our universe, remive him into an alternate timeline, destroy him, or something else?

Shoving Barry into the past is a different thing from resetting the universe, maybe...
>>
>>939543
The way that your abilities work is that Barry would go back with all his memories from this world intact, as would Bee, depending on how far back you go.

This would allow Barry to (theoretically) have the knowledge to avert a great deal of his mistakes and never become the Flash.
>>
>>939545
To follow up on your question, Barry seems to have some sort of plan to get you the power you need for a full reset, since even reversing a single person's timeline caused Bee a great deal of physical strain and damage.
>>
>>939527
"You need to work through your problems, not just undo them. Going back and fixing everything won't fix you. You'll still hurt, and you'l hurt others, knowing that you can just go back and fix mistakes. That's not selfless, that's sociopathic."
>>
>>939545
Yeah, the big question with that is whether or not it would split the timeline

Im fairly sure Bee doesnt mind letting barry go home, the problem is what happens after.

Either we remain as the "cause" of the event, and with us our universe. In which case barry creates an alternate earth, or slides into an earth matching his actions.

Or dimensional enegy is conserved and the event is "causless". In which case our dimension is totally altered at the point of the event. Its existence prior to the event would be meaningless.

>>939553
This is Barry Allen, of course he has a plan. Im curious as to how he expects this to work. Might be worthwhile to bring it up.
>>
>>939565
I suppose it cones down to whether we break the time barrier, or the dimensional barrier.

Barry Allen is shit at time travel.

"It’s…tempting.” You say, and his face slowly start to brighten. “The ability to fix everything…my Mom, Tabs, Dyna, the metas, everyone they’ve hurt…”

He reaches forwards, offering you his hand…

“…but where does that end, Barry?”

His brow furrows.

“When we’re what? Gods? When nothing bad ever happens because we zoom back and forth fixing it? Is that what *you* did?”

You take a step forwards. He takes one back.

“I *love* Tabby. I *love* Dyna. I will fight for them until my dying breath. I know you’re faster than me, and maybe you always will be, but that doesn’t make your way any better than letting time take its course. I don’t know your world, Barry…but if it was so damn perfect, then what are you doing here?”

His emotionless eyes regard you coldly as you continue.

“You need to work through your problems, not just erase them. Going back and fixing everything won’t fix your pain. You’ll still hurt, and you’ll hurt others as you run back and forth through time trying to make things right. That’s not selfless, Barry…that’s sociopathic”

A long moment passes in silence, the sounds of the city echoing up from below your vantage point.

“I suppose there’s no chance of reasoning with you then, is there?” he finally says, putting his hands in his pockets.

“I could say the same for you, Allen.”

He gives a long sigh, looking up at the moon.

“Tomorrow night, at midnight. We will see each other, and this world will end one way or another. Goodbye, Miss Artemisa.”

He’s gone, a small flash of purple lightning the only evidence that he didn’t simply snuff out of existence. You remain on the rooftop a little longer, until your legs carry you to the foot of your bed, to Tabby and Dyna, wrapped in your bedsheets.

You climb in, reaching over and pulling them both to you, your heart still racing. Neither of them stir as you while the hours away in sleepless thought. But you appreciate their presence all the same, soaking them in with your senses and listening to the sounds of their soft, quiet breaths. You drink them in like tomorrow’s the end of the world.

Tomorrow.

You end this.

Let me just say your doing an excellent job.

There are a few pacing issues, but nothing so jarring that it is especially noticable.

I'd like a bit more interactions with the merlyns, but anons are justifiably upset with the Green Error over homicide and lies. Which the normal green arrow had problems with as well so it fits.

Questions

Who made the particle accelerator in this timeline, still wells?

Super "science" when?

Who is best girl?

The rainbow spewing Dynasaur was PERFECT. Thank you.

Are you running any other quests?

Any plans for kryptonian illegal immigrants? Because we will build a wall if we have to.

Or are we full Flashpoint?

Thanks for running
>>
Im planning on exploring more of the Merlyn siblings in the second 'season' (story arc), and I'm actually pleased with how reviled and suspiciously people seem to be with them. They're fun anti-heroes.

Wells made the particle accelerator in this timeline, with help from the ever present Professor Atticus, of course.

What do you mean by super science?

Best girl? Speedster Quest is rapidly becoming Tabby's Meta Harem Quest 2016, and next to Barry, she's my favorite to write for, with Thea coming in third.

The Dynasaur was a glorious find and I'm still chuckling over it.

This is my first quest, and I've been having so much more fun than I expected so far. I was really inspired by Joker Quest, and I'd love to run a follow up to it with story tweaks and and female protagonist, if Joker Quest OP would allow it.

As far as other elements of the DC universe, they're coming in the second season. I'm excited.

[spoilers] Someone mentioned the island of amazons in the first thread, and it gave me glorious ideas. [/spoilers]

To be quite honest if this were Lantern Arrow quest anons would not only be MORE murderhobo than Tonmygun, they would have voted to wreck the Flash in a giant fight. Because anons dislike moral superiority.

Based Wells is Based.

By that i mean the type of flimsy doesnt really make sense "science" that is ubiquitous to comics.

All the ladies belong to Tabsinthe, all of them. Theas next. What do you mean shes paralysed? Bitch can still move half her body. And Tab Soda dont need to touch you to make a girl cum. Tabby-cat just TELLS you to cum, and your body does it. Because it knows better.

Evil Tabitha doppleganger meta when?

Aww yes, the mythical island of waifus! Hype.

This list is amazing.

I'll have to write a short interlude between Story arcs that is Bee bringoing Tabby and Dyna to her relatives' for Christmas, and her Mom showing up with her new boyfriend, and general cattiness ensues.
>>
>>942271
Yeah, Mom seems very hetero. Shes a cop after all. Our lesbian threesome relationship is probably not going to go over very well.

Tabracadabra is most likely used to Mom, but its going to be a bit of a shock for Dynamite.

Worst case dynamite tells our mom off, mom tells her to go hop on a dick, theres a fight, and then we have to bail our girlfriend out on christmas.

How about Tabouli? Any family to meet over the holidays?

Dynasaur only had her bro... so she will be spending the season with us. Unless hes ressurected by then in which case cool.

The wizarding twins might WANT to spend christmas alone punishing evil or some shit, but thats totally unacceptable to santa, so we have to drag them into our giant christmas trainwreck.

Yeah good shit.
>>
>>941983
I'm surprised that players chose the moral high ground instead of agreeing with the Lannisters and wreaking havoc.
