The interior of the Obsidianborn ship was sweltering and humid, resembling the tunnels of Bastion that the Stonestars inhabited. The light was dim except for projected holodisplays and the gentle pulsing of light through colored glass dials and switches, Stonestar crewmen clacking code among themselves and the spindly Obsidianborn constructs they worked alongside.

Punishers Muic and Agona stand on the bridge before a large screen displaying a model of the system they had just emerged into. Their fleet had been quick to engage their cloak fields and the stone hulled ships fade from sight, sensors aimed toward the populated worlds waiting to see if they'd been noticed.

Rolan was a busy Ahkam system, it's resources reaped to fuel the serpents perpetual attempts at conquest. Plecfo sat like a green jewel in the system, it's rich ecosystem extorted by giant farmlands and factories. The worlds and asteroid belt of the system were buzzing with Ahkam vessels, warships guarding mining tugs and resource transports.

Looming close to the slowly moving fleet was a gas giant a vivid pink in color, ships descending low to the tumultuous clouds to fetch refined fuel from the city floating above the storms. Tankers dive in and out of its large ring of ice and stone, mining for water to transport throughout the system.

A floating chunk of obsidian glass rotates slowly as if to regard the two Reconstructed, it's voice ringing in their skulls, <No sign of detection. Fleet is spreading and placing itself into position. This attack will be brief and focused.> it explained to them once more.

Agona nods and waves a hand then folds her arms across her broad armored chest, "We are here to observe and advise. We leave operations to you," her eyeless gaze looking over the markers indicating combat ship movements through the system

"Soon enough we may find ourselves back in this system on a more extended attack," Muic muses to Agona, "I hear our siblings are plotting an attack against the Osjiic and Ahkam as we speak."

"I doubt we will find ourselves bored very often," Agona says with a bark of laughter. The sound is echoed by her sister but makes the Stonestar around them look in confusion before resuming their duties.

I've done some more work on pricing for ships and just need to go through the old premade templates and update their prices but ship hulls, modules, weapons and such should all be up to date if folks want to design some ships.

I've got the resource thing pretty much figured out, just need to put it in a way that makes sense and won't take a pastebin for itself lol. SHould have it up by the end of the thread

Unlocked:

Mental Reading: An unconscious target is subjected to advanced sensors and psionic probes to scan their memories and mental state. This allows a detailed record of information that can be coaxed from the subject. This can be used for thorough interrogation and gleaning technical knowledge from subjects with ease. Subjects with brain trauma, cybernetic augments designed for security, or psionically fortified are able to resist attempts at reading through their memories.

>Mental Recording/Implanting: Medium This takes the research further, attempting to fully record a subjects mind and implant it into a new vessel.

>Empathic Scanning: Slow An attempt to fine-tune the capabilities of mental reading to sense and interpret the emotive state of conscious sapient beings.

Advanced Void Reactor: A more powerful and refined version of the standard Void Reactor. An associated Void Drive is able to travel faster without a marked increase on it's exit signature. Grants a great bonus to Void Weaponry and systems and defense against Solar attacks. Arc attacks are less damaging but still effective. Allows the creation of a minor gravity well around the ship giving a significant bonus to grav-thruster equipped small craft. Equippable to Capitol ships or larger. 100B 90M

Sub-Space Basics: Sub-Space is a relatively new discovery in the galactic scene of only a few centuries old. Appearing as a completely blank white infinity sub-space is used for the Warp Drive and sub-space communications. Travel in sub-space involves a vessel tearing open a portal into it and traveling through it before emerging back into reality, allowing ships to traverse vast distances with less fuel and time.

>Sub-Space communications: Fast
>Sub-Space experimentations: Slow and Dangerous
>Sub-Space Jamming: Medium

The day had been peaceful and uneventful for the crew of the Mother's Fang, an Ahkam frigate patrolling the asteroid belt and keeping watch over the mining ships boring into asteroids. In the bridge the Epikor captain by the name of Cuellin looked over her personal datapad absentmindedly, responding to messages from her commanders and subordinates while ignoring the message from her spouse, a captain of a different warship, still mad at them for a recent disagreement.

The kosda pilot guided the vessel on a lazy path and stifled a yawn but a rapid beeping from a nearby console jerked them to wakefulness. The epikor sitting at the console scans over the data even as more alerts began to sound. They sat in silence for a moment until a barked order from Cuellin makes them give a start and start shouting.

"Unknown attackers striking at the fuel refinery, ships attacking the transports and their guards, calls for mobilization," they continued to list off the rapidly growing list of alerts, the crew hurrying themselves to reach battle stations when the captain switched on a klaxon siren.

The pilot readjusted themselves in their seat and looked through the armored glass of the viewport and does a double-take. They manage to let out a shout of alarm and jerk the controls of the ship violently moments before a proximity alert begins to blare, adding to the cacophony of sound. Shimmering into being just ahead of them was a cruiser, it's hull dark against the background of the void but it's weapons mounts glowed ominously.

The frigate desperately tries to accelerate away from the strange new ship and bring their weapons to bear but the stealthed cruiser had already trained its turrets on the craft. The mouths of the weapons flared with light and unleashed their volley of super-heated kinetic rounds. The shield around the Mother's Fang glow bright before shattering under another salvo that hammers into the broadside of the frigate.

Screams and shouts began to fill the bridge but moments later a sleek missile punches through the ceiling of the bridge and detonates in a ball of explosive fire. The eruption travels through the crippled ship, it's reactor the next target as weaponsfire riddled it.

Across the Rolan system other Ahkam ships met similar fates, stone ships with molten weapons appearing out of the darkness of space to ravage them. Fighters larger than the Nails twist in deadly dogfights as highly articulated limbs mimic the motions of the Stonestar pilot within, aiming blasters and autocannons.

Bulbous spherical shapes are launched from the battlecruiser Agona and Muic watched from, the projectiles passing through the shattered shield of a Destroyer protecting the floating city of the gas giant. Instead of detonating or punching through the hull of the ship the orbs of metal and stone decelerate with hidden thrusters and uncurl limbs to cling to the hull like some grotesque arachnid. Crawling across the hull to turrets and other weapons they latch on with their claws, a funnel-like mouth or beak extending from where the limbs conjoined and began to glow. A finger-thick stream of molten metal began to shoot out like a high pressure waterjet and carved through the hull with shocking ease.

Tearing away turrets and weapon mounts they began to ventilate the hulls, pouring and injecting molten metal at high speeds into the ship, paralyzing it like the venom of a deadly swarming beast. This gristly tactic was repeated across the outer edges of the system, Ahkam ships falling before the fury of the Obsidianborn attack. The serpent ships managed to score some blows against their attackers but failed to retaliate successfully.

As the ships began to mobilize from the inner worlds and bases the Obsidianborn fleet began to retreat. Breaking off their attacks they fighters and crawlers returned to their parent ships, disappearing into the cosmic distance within a cloak of distorted light.

It took less than an hour but across Rolan thousands of Ahkam citizens died and suffered at the fury of the Obsidianborn and their Stonestar partners before they disappeared as fast as they had appeared.

You watch the footage of the raid with admiration for the strategy of the Obsidianborn and Stonestar, impressed with how quickly they'd adapted to space combat. Seated on your throne in the Charnel Vault drifting in orbit around Horizon's Drop you look over the various notices you receive every other moment. One notice catches your non-existent eye and you let out a small sigh but relieved you had caught it.

In two galactic days you were expected in the Myrshyn system to meet with the gathering of the Pirate Clans. Surprised at Jor for forgetting to mention an important diplomatic even such as that you nonetheless forgive him, glancing at the side screen showing his preparing for his test in Ruscuvs Vault.

The Daggers had sent their invitation as you warred with the Wraiths defending the Eldertrees, asking that either you or Jor make an appearance at a gathering of several clans. An event, according to the former dagger pirates in your Legion, that was exceedingly rare.

Setting that off to the side you look through other notices, a message detailing that Sur-Quro, the solar sensitive yuyut, had been delivered to Dominator Valresko. A brief look shows that she had tried to act disinterested in her new assignment but the undead just turned to a large display of the B'Nan system the Osjiic and Ahkam fought over. He began to ask her opinion on strategies against the two factions and the former sub-admiral began to warm up over sharing tactics to hurt her enemies.

Voidknight Disciples tended to the Void-Terror ships or prepared Gral. The juggernaut of a Brute spoke in rumbling excitement for upcoming conflict, sitting patiently as Disciples helped affix specially made armor to it.

Elsewhere in the Charnel Vault Lorgul and Jareth meet with the Predators Nekris and Eiton making their initial plans of attack while waiting for your presence to join them.

Under the sunbaked world of Clour in a grand complex dedicated to an ancient evil Jor felt a strange sense of deja vu. Except this time he held the title of First Necromancer, garbed in the armor and robes of the Armada and armed with its weapons. He stood in front of the large stone doors carved with images of contorted Talons and other, stranger undead and gazed into the darkness that loomed before him.

A demi-Think Tank projects a holographic bust next to him and he bows before your image, "Lord Jadyk. Come to wish me luck?" he asked with a slightly nervous voice.

"If that would assuage your nerves, then yes. Good luck in there, Jor. I have hope for your success," you reassure him.

The human nods, gripping his reaver staff tight in one hand, "Might as well get this over with," he looks to you again and bows his head, repeating in old Wormtongue "Praise the Wormstar. To Death and Through it to Eternity," then turned towards the doors. He took a deep, calming breath and you feel his fear through the shard embedded in his flesh dissipate quickly and replaced with a grim determination. His armored helm snaps shut around his head and strides forward and past the threshold. Moments later he disappears from your senses and the door swings shut without a sound.

"Praise the Wormstar. Good luck, Jor," you say to no one, the holographic image winking out as the demi-Think Tank returns to its task analyzing the carvings on the walls.

With Jor sealed beyond Ruscuvs gate and beyond your reach you push asidethe unease you felt and turned your attention to the meeting where your Generals were discussing the invasion of the B'Nan system. Floating into the room you take your spot at a large table displaying the system and movements of the fleets. Around it stood Lorgul, Jareth, Nekris and Eiton physically. Holographic images flicker to life showing Valresko, Agona, Muic, and the sole living member the Voidsinger Commander.

Those gathered bow before you and you nod in reply, "Good to see you all gathered for this momentous occasion. At the behest of the Voidknights the Armada will commence a proper invasion of an enemy system," you motion to the display of the war-torn system, "Here is B'Nan, home to the Osjiic factory cities of Kanda. You shall go there and drive the Osjiic and the Ahkam from the system and take its riches for our Armada."

Lorgul beams proudly by your side, "The Voidknights will not disappoint you, Lord Jadyk."

You look to him, "Of course you won't," you turn to gaze at the others around the table, "I am expecting success from you all. Show me that the faith I have in you all is well-founded." You lean back in your throne, interlocking your fingers and resting your chin on your hand as you nod to them to start their planning.

Time to plot out your invasion. How should the Armada launch their attack on the B'Nan system?

B'Nan

Star: Binary Star (Red Giant+Blue Dwarf)

Planets:

Kanda: A medium sized world on the inner part of the habitable zone, it's oceans drastically reduced to shallow seas. Rich in metal ores it is under control of the Osjiic Empire and heavily mined to produce large amounts of vechicles and weaponry for their forces. It is one of the heaviest defended and populated Osjiic planets in the sector, much of the population slaves used for manual labor in the mines and factories. Three major cities dedicated to the production of land vehicles for warfare dot the surface with smaller outposts marking the sites of mines. High speed railways crisscross the planet, all connecting to the largest of the cities that spread around the anchor of a space elevator leading to a station in orbit. Heavy military presence with a garrison in each city.

Asteroid Belt: Mostly stripped of metals it holds several outposts with shipyards for construction and repair of the fleets in the sector. Used as a staging area for passing fleets on their way to raid Confederate worlds.

Gas Giant: A large gas giant mined for fuel, it's largest pair of moons host to large fuel refineries.

Ahkam forces have established a ground base on Kanda after taking over the majority of one of the factory cities. They also control the Gas Giant moons, destroying one of the refineries and controlling the remaining as an outward base for reinforcements.

The Osjiic have hunkered down in their remaining cities on Kanda, their fleet focused around the space elevator and station. They still maintain majority hold on the asteroid belt bases but are losing ground to the seemingly non-stop reinforcements of Ahkam ships.
>>
>>981120
Use stolen enemy ships full of crit crawlers to act as reinforcements and once close enough have hen deploy their cargo among their respective fleets.

Once it's released warp in our attack fleet with the hunters focusing on capturing as many arkham ships as possible while voidknights and publishers work on the osjiic meanwhile har drop pods scatter flat bodies and stealth troops onto he planet to prepare for ground troops invasion with sabotage and recon so we know where to drop in an ht the hardest. When we have won the skies then we begin the ground invasion lead by our combined forces.
>>
>>981120
Okay then let's see, let us begin the battle by having our captured and disguised osijic ships arrive at the battle and enter into orbit as if to defend the planet from the akham. We can use them to deploy void terrors and necrolytes via drop pods directly onto the anti orbital batteries, if we don't take them out early in the fight they could do some real damage. Then have the voidknights and predators enter the battle in earnest, with the predators attacking the akham. Lorgul can focus on the other fleet while sending any voidsingers he can spare to aid the necrolytes on the planet. The necrolytes can spearhead the effort backed by hordes of reconstructed and equipped with the most cutting edge tech we have, like hard light shields, battle tombs, blue goo, and anti grav harnesses. Send as many glutton spheres as we can spare attuned to void and arc energies.
>>
>>981187
along these lines prepare large batches if green goo in case the enemy is hunkering down in delicate infrastructure
>>
>>981154
Have the predators and Muic hit their reinforcement point to disrupt their flow f troops while the voidknights take the osjiic fleet with Angona with te intent to capture the space port with the assistance of the legion once those are taken we an deal with the cities.

Would hate to land a bunch of troops on the planet only to lose hold of the orbital battlefield.

As for ship miners split the amount of battleships into thirds 1 third to te arkham one to the osjiic and the final 3rd held in reserve to reinforce wich ever side needs it
>>
>>981246
Could we make it a priority to take out the anti orbital batteries on the ground first thing? Those guns are more potent than any defensive structures we have, and we wreck havoc on our ships if we allow them to. Better to cripple or capture them first off to make our job simpler, and we might even be able to reverse engineer them if we take them intact.
>>
>>981310
Good point, perhaps a bombing run with he green goo before sending in the stealth troops to reclaim then and some shock troops to defend them from ring retaken. That way we can quickly turn them on the enemy forces in orbit
>>
>>981370
That's the great thing about the blue goo, it only dissolves organic material. Any tech or infrastructure would be left completely intact by it.
>>
General consensus so far seems to be

>Send stealth ships to deploy stealth troops to Kanda to scout ground forces and anti-orbital weapons
>Send in disguised/captured ships with hidden fighters and void-terrors to deploy Crit Crawlers on the enemy fleets not in combat
>Stealth units attack and take over or disable the anti-orbital weapons
>Once anti-orbital weapons are taken send in fleets to initiate spacebattles

Sound like a plan for the initial stages?

Across Armada space your fleets prepare themselves and detach from pylons, engines thrumming as Reconstructed troops are loaded into them. Members of Iti'a'Ropku look up as the specks in the sky begin to congregate in clusters.

Predator Eiton bows at the table, "I shall lead the recon and sabotage on the surface," he volunteers.

The Voidsinger Commander's image flickers as he bows as well, "I shall have Necrolyte officers ready to impersonate the crew of the decoy ships and prepare the rest for invasion," he offers next.

Jareth and Lorgul argue quietly between themselves before Lorgul curses under his breath and relents. Jareth clacks his jaws together in triumph, "I will go with the decoy ships in the Void-Terrors."

Nodding in satisfaction you motion to your Generals, "Let the Osjiic and Ahkam remember this day when the Armada let it's fury and rage be known. Above all else, this system shall be ours. The capture of Ahkam and Voidsingers shall be among your highest priority. Kanda is rich in slaves and I am sure they will come to enjoy life as Necrolytes, spare them if they will surrender, cull them if they resist. Go now, go with the Wormstar and conquer."

Your council of Generals bow before you and move away to begin their preparations.

It did not take long before the first of the stealth corvettes began to disappear from Horizon's Drops system. They reappear in the B'Nan system away from where the Ahkam fleet held in position near the gas giant, Predator Eiton guiding the ships as they wrap themselves in their cloak fields and disappear from sight. The Eyegore, hidden among the debris of the asteroid belt, reports that Osjiic and Ahkam sensors had detected the faint radiation bursts of their arrival but their notice was quickly moved onto more substantial threats they could actually detect.

The corvettes drift closer to Kanda, moving slowly so their engines did not give them away. As they traveled decoy ships began to skip into the system, an Ahkam battleship with it's name scoured off by a glancing blow appearing with its guard of frigates and corvettes near the gas giant.

Predator Nekris waited on the bridge of the battleship, borrowed Epikor necrolytes forced to act like commanders as they were contacted. They exchange a brief conversation with the fleet and eventually commanded to hold back and await orders to move in attack against Kanda itself. Coffins cloaked in stealth and clinging to the hulls of the decoy ships detach and begin to move slowly through the nearby ahkam ships. Their cargo doors open and Crit Crawls tumble out to drift in space, their simple minds excited to begin their tasks. Lost among the cosmic debris of previous conflicts they drift and scoot along closer to the Ahkam ships.

A small sense of alarm races through Nekris as a few dropships and fighters take pot-shots at the crit crawls as they fly patrols but to everyone's relief they continue past, thinking the reconstructed were nothing more than debris. Latching onto Ahkam ships the Crit Crawls hunker down and wait for their commands.

Closer to Kanda a similar strategy unfolded, Osjiic decoy ships appearing out of twists of voidlight. A heavily modified Osjiic commander saying they were a fleet sent to provide relief after their victory against the UON, explaining the damage done to the ships already. Hidden within the battleship and destroyers Jareth waited with the Disciples inside their Void-Terrors. Crit Crawls attempt to split themselves among the fleets but the intense air traffic makes it difficult to spread without notice after the decoy fleet was commanded into a patrol awaiting an attack from the Ahkam.

>Ahkam and Osjiic decoy ships in place

Eiton and his stealthed corvettes manage to descend to the planet below, their engines fighting the gravitational pull but the glow of their ships were easily missed among the constant debris raining down from above. Setting down the sub-capitols hide in trenches that were once at the bottom of deep oceans, stealth coffins lifting off with their deadly cargo as they began to search and explore.

From what they could gather, gleaned from the Osjiic and Ahkam communications and aerial scouting only a small handful of the anti-orbital weapons remained. Most had been reduced to smoking craters after Ahkam orbital bombardment or sabotaged by the Osjiic themselves as they retreated to prevent them from being turned against their own ships.

Four remained, two each on the outskirts of the remaining cities under Osjiic control. Eiton splits up his forces and sends, sending the Shadows, Looms, Cyclops, and other assorted stealth focused troops against the distant city while he took his own troops to go after the weapons hiding in the shadow of the megacity surrounding the space elevator.

They awaited in the rocks and cliffs around the installations and observed their targets, Think Tanks calculating their best strategies. Finally Nekris gives the order and his troops move forward to commence their assaults.

Considering we're making an open declaration of war against two major factions of this sector, I thought we could go for the grumpy old 'get the fuck off my lawn' lich. Gotta show these young whippersnappers some respect for their elders.

Well i figure that just outright doubling our current units will make the math exponentially easier but right now having a massive swarm of regular grunts would be nice.

Gurol was a simple Osjiic grunt. He had simple plans, mostly involving getting drunk and high once the Ahkam conflict was resolved and was glad they were stationed on the surface instead of on a fleet ship. They'd always hated fighting on ships, preferring the solid ground underneath their heavy feet instead of only a few feet of metal and plasteel between them and a cold ignoble death. They walked along the wall protecting the large orbital gun that raised up like a monolith behind them, the setting sun sending it's shadow curving across the rocky plains, the space elevator looming imposingly in the distance.

They nodded at a passing guard only to stop and squint into the distance and waved for Gurol's attention. Joining them they peered through the scope of their rifle at where they'd seen a burst of movement on a distant ridge. Seeing nothing on the thermal range Gurol lowered then gun to turn and shrug at their companion but there was a faint whistling and the Osjiic standing next to them collapsed a moment after their skull erupted into an explosion of gore.

Gurol tried to take a step back in alarm and spun to begun shouting but a sharp pain in their chest silenced them as they found themselves staring into the large singular eye of Eiton, the Predators form shimmering indistinctly in the shadows. The undead grinned and twisted the arc-edged blade of his shortsword in the Osjiic chest and dropped the quickly dying alien as they choked on their own blood silent.

Flicking black blood from the blade he looked around, watching as Shadows leaped up silently over the walls to drag Osjiic flailing over the sides. Eiton lets out a small hiss of pleasure, the light warping around him once more as he leads his troops into the compound.

At Eiton's command Looms and Shadows slinked into the bases surrounding the orbital cannons. Osjiic soldiers dropped as they found their throats sliced, skin peppered with paralysis inducing flechettes, or meeting the blades of the Predator. Eiton elated in the slaughter as he lead a silent coup against the Osjiic.

Which would in fact work

And holy shit are you the other Devastator anon ?

>>
>>982150
Across the planet simultaneous attacks commenced, unsuspecting Osjiic slaughtered with only a few managing to fight back as the undead carved a path to the command centers of the weapon emplacements. As alerts started to trickle in of patrols not checking in or shouts cut short over the radio the Osjiic began to suspect something was happening.

A voidsinger in charge of one of the anti-orbital weapons started to bark orders for the compound to go into lockdown but a low voice began to rise in volume until a mad cackling filled the room with the shocked imperials. A flashbang grenade drops from a vent in the ceiling and blinds those inside, shouts of confusion quickly turning into screams of pain as Predator Eiton launches his final attack. Blades of differing length flash in his hands as he moves like a blur among the aliens, disemboweling and butchering those unfortunate soldiers.

Shadows leaped into action, their own nimble blades carving through Osjiic armor, fangs tearing out throats or faces with sprays of oily blood. Looms shoot like liquid from hidden spots, powerful tentacles strangling or snapping necks. Necroflensers flash and boil armor and flesh, sting whips alive with electricity or surging with toxins lodging themselves into meat to bring down their targets.

Eiton's attack was quick and brutal, silently carving a path to the stations where they controlled the weapons then radiating out in a bloodbath to eliminate those still untouched by Reconstructed weapons or claws. Several Osjiic tried to send out alerts only to find their radios jammed, Gargoyles dismantling communication arrays or protecting the demi-Think Tanks that hack into them.

>Predator Eiton has captured the anti-orbital weapons.

>>
Valresko sat in a battleship he'd claimed and outfitted as his own while designing his signature weapon in his off-time. The smooth armor of his face gazes at the reports of Eitons success and the positions of the decoy fleets.

Zombified Osjiic stood stationed at the entrances of the compounds while Looms use information gained through NIDs to keep up the charade that the Osjiic were still in control of the weapons. As stealthed coffins landed nearby Predator Eiton said he will hold his position guarding the compounds but that he would go where he was needed.

The solar undead glanced over at Sur-Quro, the yuyut gazing over the numbers of the Ahkam and Osjiic forces, a notice showing an outbreak of conflict as Ahkam and Osjiic ships clashed in the asteroid belt. Members of the respective fleets began to accelerate toward the battles to provide their aid.

>Predator Eiton controls four anti-orbital weapon compounds
>Decoy ships are in position near the hearts of the enemy fleets with Crit Crawlers in place
>Battle is breaking out between Ahkam and Osjiic forces in the asteroid belt

How should the Armada strike next?

Its cool there was alot going on
>>
>>982291
Can we push the battle from the astroid belt towards the planet so the Anti-orbital weapons would work. Make it seem like the Ahkam were 'wining' and then wipe both fleets out at once.
>>
>>982291
With us controlling the ground and the enemies coming together we can surround them and box them in. Without them seeing us
Attacking there thrusters from behind we can cripple there movement
Them attacking each other will destroy and damage enough ships for us to finish the job
>>
>>982303
I think the battle will be in orbit already the Ojisic would need to be retarded to not take the advantage of the ground guns while they (Think) that they have them
>>
>>982303
Wait... They are in an asteroid belt?
Guys... Guys. I have an idea
We throw rocks at them
We use void to redirect a few astroids and break them up to create an area denial weapon.
They will be unable to stay there and will ether fall back, go to the planet, or become lost in the chaos
All of these outcomes are useful
>>
>>982313
No I meant if they start losing the Astroid belt or lose it they'll withdrawal back towards the planets orbit sense the guns are still 'theirs' So during that final push we suprise'm. I dunno the range on the Anti-orbital guns.

>>982316
Worth a shot.
>>
>>982291
Time to bring in our ships and join the battle in earnest. Have them to assault both the Akham and Osijic fleets, while trying to manuever our disguised ships into an ideal location to strike at both fleets as they turn their attention to us. When we've started to swamp their ships, deploy the necrolytes, spare void singers, gral, and as many reconstructed as we can afford, ideally by both drop pod as well as troop carriers. Give them orders to capture as much infrastructure intact as they can, and provide them with blue goo to do so.

Deploy the necrolytes via drop pods and rapid d
>>
this planet is a farm and industrial planet, if we use the goo it will only be one of those. Once we take the sky and hold the anti orbital guns we can drop dream stones in mass to convert the entire planet without kill anyone

Current ships in system:

Osjiic:
>8 Battleships
>12 Destroyers
>16 Battlecruisers

>60 Corvettes

Ahkam:
>8 Battleships
>14 Destroyers

>20 Light Cruisers
>55 Frigates
>70 Corvettes
>Countless fighters and gunships
>>
>>982316
Heh, even among super advanced space faring civilizations fueled by the power of the gods themselves, the age old tactic of just hurling a bunch of really big rocks at the other guy still works.
>>
>>982291
Wait for the fighting to start then
>>982316
Throw rocks to confuse and area denial
Break up the rocks with explosive and void so they damage and not break the ships
In the confusion we stealth take out as many as we can
When the enemies fall back they do so into our trap
We shoot them from the planet and from there flanks,
We aim to cripple not kill
Then ship to ship we capture
>>
>>982343
Dude, these are Osijic we're talking about. No amount of dream stone trickery is going to get them to turn on their empire without a fight.
>>
>>982408
But the slaves will. I remember someone say they had a bunch of slaves. Or was it the Akham?
Ether way it will work. Osijic has surrendered before and the dream stones will help weaken there resolve
But it might be a good idea to take them over before they can destroy there factorys
>>
>>982316
>>982385
hate to be a buzzkill but this wouldn't really work out that well in combat. It would take a long time to be able to aim them properly and launch them without the other ship seeing it coming and moving out of the way
>>
>>982371
Because there's no kill like overkill, send in
>100 Corvettes
>80 Support Corvettes
>80 Frigates
>80 Boarding Frigates
>100 Light Cruisers
>10 Boarding Cruisers
>70 Heavy Cruisers
>50 Boarding Heavy Cruisers
>20 Plasma Weaver Cruisers
>60Battlecruisers
>40 Hangar Battlecruisers
>40 Destroyers
>30 Void Destroyers
>30 Battleships

If it's feasible, have our ships send a meteor shower right towards the battlefield, while hiding behind those asteroids to approach undetected, and have our disguised ships join the battle against both fleets in the confusion.
>>
>>982419
I figured, then we'll just stick to what we're good at with a good old fashioned ambush.
>>
>>982419
dam, but in the future could we put cloaking devices on astroids and meteors?
>>
>>982371
lets send cloaked if we can. and attack targets of opportunity once the battle starts Like if we can Alpha strike the battleships and battle cruisers
>201 Frigates
>108 Boarding Frigates
>65 Light Cruisers
>30 Boarding Cruisers
>200 Heavy Cruisers
>25 Boarding Heavy Cruisers
>100 Plasma Weaver Cruisers
>100 Bloat Carriers
>167 Battlecruisers
>80 Hangar Battlecruisers
>88 Destroyers
>70 Void Destroyers
>43 Battleships
>3000 Talons
>3000 Stingers
>>
>>982447
>>982419
Actually... I have a idea...
What if we strap a cloaking device, a few thrusters, an ftl drive you your convenience, and a giant fucking bomb in the middle, to meteors and astroids?
They have similar mass to ships, and we don't need to build the entire ship so the cost would be much less.

We could have entire meteor belts hidden, as we mine them for metal we also prepare them to be thrown as a big "fuck you we old school"
>>
>>982456 *Cough*
>80 Battlecruisers
>88 Destroyers
>40 Battleships
>>
>>982465
Or... we could do this to giant Solar and Void Fuelled ICBMS That are hyper accelerated either through Mass driver or other means and make a combination Kinetickill Vaporization planet killer
>>
>>982291
General plan sounds something like:
>Wait for Ahkam and Osjiic to begin fighting in the asteroid belt
>Send fleet to attack Ahkam by the gas giant with decoy fleet
>Also send fleet to Asteroid Belt to attack both sides as well
>Push Osjiic back to Kanda

Sound like a plan so far?

You see that chart, each power feeds the next. So what would happen if you made a weapon bomb or otherwise that use all 4
Energy can not be created or destroyed, only transferred, and a 4 way combination would potentially creat a constant transfer of energy type
It would attack something at every aspect of its existence
Necrotic filling it with entropy and wreaking the subatomic bonds
Void effecting the nucleus of the atoms
Ark effecting the elections
And soler to jumpstart the atomic chain reaction

And so we have the nova. A device that can turn all the atoms in its effect into energy

It would be the most dangerous thing we have ever created by several orders of magnitude

I think for the energy chart its a case of one power is stronger then the other the solar feeds on the necrotic when in close proximity as they are both contained within jaydk how ever you dont hear the void eating the solar, it just sort of, dampens it, like the brighter the void, the more shadowed the solar becomes.

At Valresko's advice the Armada continues to hold back. Within necrotic ships Reconstructed troops began to fidget or hum, crudely attempting to recreate the hymns that flowed through them. Not for the first time the thought comes to you of reforming the Chitin Choir, your armies too quiet for your liking.

Vicious fights broke out among the asteroid belt, Ahkam and Osjiic ships clashing among the wrecks of mining hulks and bombed out bunkers. Lightning cannons flash, bolts arcing out to crackle against shields, shorting them out in time for volleys of missiles and kinetic rounds to smash into armored bulkheads. Bulky Osjiic heavy fighters and gunships cut down swarms of the esat and kosda fightercraft before they are gunned down in a shower of weaponsfire and detonating in small explosions that mark the sites of their demise.

The two fighting factions continued to send ships into the fray Valresko finally gives the command. Fleets fired up their combidrives and disappeared with Agona departing with her ships. A battlecruiser billows out a massive cloud of vapor that flashed with lightning to envelop more ships as Nekris opens a Storm Gate. Your decoy Ahkam ships in orbit over the gas giant in the B'Nan system watch as a stormcloud begins to form several lightseconds away. Alerts of friendly reinforcements started sounding across the ahkam airwaves and Valresko nods in satisfaction at the news. You found it intriguing how Valresko naturally took over commanding the fleets movements, the solar undead focusing intently on the battlefield.

Across the B'Nan system time seemed to grow still as a series of events began to occur almost simultaneously according to Valresko's plans. The Storm Gate lingered for a few seconds and before it had even begun to clear a wall of weaponsfire and missiles erupted from the cloud, smashing into the Ahkam ships shattering several of their number in only a few moments time. Fighters and Gunships poured forth, tearing the cloud to shreds as they leaped forth to tear into the confused and wounded ships.

>cont
>>
>>982819
Several lightseconds away Agona's ships appeared in a large flash of light from the combidrive. At the helm of her personal ship, a massive Pyroclastic Destroyer, she sent her ships to spread out and attack from afar catching them in between her and Nekris' ships.

As the Ahkam fleet began to react and turn to face their ambushers the Crit Crawls receive their telepathic signal. With a massed psionic shout of joy blossoms of fire erupted across the hulls and engines of unsuspecting ships. Chatter Crawls and Zapper Crawls wreck their havoc on the largest of the capitol ships, attempting to disable them for boarding but the largest battleships react in alarm. Their hulls electrify suddenly with a powerful current of arc energy, reducing them to smoldering husks.

Decoy ships began to make their move as the true Ahkam ships surged forward or fell back. Reconstructed crews sitting behind unfamiliar weapon consoles and gunner chairs as they attacked against unprotected flanks.

Across the system other fleets appear without warning. Necrotic ships leap from the darkness of the void in flashes of light and radiation, their weapons and fighters primed and ready for the fight. Throughout the asteroid belt groups of Armada ships appear and dive into battle with the Ahkam and Osjiic already bloodied and tired.

Lorgul and his group of Void-Terror piloting Disciples emerge in the midst of an Osjiic battleship exchanging blows with a pair of Ahkam destroyers attempting to use a quickly crumbling asteroid as cover. The nimble ships spiral and twist to avoid the missiles and fighters daring the no-mans-land between the capitols. Void screamers light up the space as they rake across the hulls of the ships, chain-flensers rapidly reaching their top firing speed as the Voidknights carved a ruined path across the hulls of the ships.

The void of space became a bloody and violent battlefield as warring empires were ambushed by the beast of the Necrotic Armada launching itself fully against them. Confusion rode the airwaves of Osjiic and Ahkam fleets, the screams of the dying and doomed fighting with shouted commands in a multitude of languages. It did not take long for Agona's encroaching net of of ships forced the confused Ahkam to flee from the moons. Decoy ships began to fall as they were spotted and targetted, the facade of holographic commanders failing in the heat of battle. A crippled Ahkam battlecruiser plummets to its slow doom toward the gas giant as escape pods fled from it in waves only to be intercepted by Armada ships.

>cont
>>
>>982822
The asteroid belt, once a calm industry of mining, now turned into a massacre. Ahkam ships found themselves cut off from allies and caught between the Necrotic and Osjiic ships, several attempting to escape into FTL. Osjiic ships began to fall back toward Kanda and the protection of the orbital guns, harried by the Ahkam and the menace of the Void-Terrors. Lorguls voice rings across the local airwaves, shouting in the tongue of the Black Flame as he launched a Void-Nova missile. The powerful explosion of rippling voidflame erupts against the side of the fleeing battleship and surging forth to engulf it and several of it's lesser fleetmates.

This took less than an hour as the Osjiic began a full retreat back to Kanda. The Ahkam tried to regroup between the gas giant and the asteroid belt. Several of the largest capitol ships drifted aimlessly, swarmed by harpoon ships and ion frigates. Nekris personally lead a large boarding party onto a battleship he believed to have an Ahkam serpent on board, his sword Blight grasped tight.

In the wake of the Osjiic the final attackers appeared along the inner rim of the belt. Punisher Muic arrived at the helm of her own Pyroclastic Punisher, her ships spread wide like Agona's had been and picked up the chase. Lorgul and his Void-Terrors returned to the asteroid belt and hunting down the stragglers as Muics ships, fresh and eager to fight chased and harried the retreating Osjiic.

So how dose the powers work in relation to each other?
Is it that they flow? With one power eating another and becoming proportionally stronger in doing so, and is in turn eaten by the next power in the line
Or is it that they null each other and in doing so break the second law of thermodynamics?
>>
>>983379
I've been kind of assuming that these powers all violate the second law of thermodynamics and a multitude of other physical laws just by existing.
>>
>>983379
>>983538
Yeah that law is more of a suggestion in this setting.

Elemental powers: it's space magic
>>
>>983584
That needs to be a shirt with a skeleton shrugging on it
>>
>>983584
But could we make a bomb ouf of it?
or do they just neutalize each other?
>>
>>983651
Could be either/or really

Could make it a long term and very dangerous research project but a weapon trying to use all four elemental energies would have the potential to be a planetkiller

I guess I could explain a little more about the energies listed here >>980086

In the purely metaphysical sense, without consideration of physical conditions, elements pointing to another element will come out stronger if equal amounts of these energies are faced against each other.
>Solar wins against Necrotic
>Necrotic wins against Arc
>Arc wins against Void
>Void wins against Solar

This can have an array of effects that mostly depends on the physical state of matter around them and the comparison of the energy levels being challenged against each other.

A strong enough necrotic energy source can overwhelm a solar one. Just like how Jadyk was able to duel with Glucors the Sunscale Champion who was a powerful Solar wielder.

Energies that are opposite on the wheel; Necrotic+Void and Arc+Solar, they are neutral to each other and at times complimentary. When opposed it all comes down to which is stronger with more energy to expend.

This is why it was so common for there to be Void and Necrotic undead like the Voidknights in the old Armada. You have not encountered it yet but theoretically this would mean that there could be Solar and Arc Hybrids out in the universe.

The reason that Jadyk was able to steal the Solar and ingrain it into himself is because he was already a Necrotic+Void hybrid by that point. By taking in the Solar he was able to keep it within himself by fueling it with his stores of necrotic power while the Void kept it subdued and regulated. This is why when he drained the Solar Wraith he was danger of the Solar energy within him feeding too much on the Necrotic and overwhelming the Void until Valresko was able to help him.

Valresko is a total paradox in the equation and broke the belief that an Undead could not be made from a being who was a Solar wielder.

But when one energy wins against another dose is gain or lose power?
For example if you had 5 units of soler and 5 units of necrotic, they meat and the soler wins. Do you then have 10 units of soler?

And when all 4 are present in equal parts the power should flow evenly
5 N
5 S
5 V
5 A
The soler is eating the necrotic. as the necrotic eats the ark. As the ark eats the void. As the void eats the soler.
Repeat tell entropy

If the rate of conversion is equal to the rate of consumption the quantity of each power should not change, you would still have 5 units of each
>>
>>984120
Think of it more like this

If I pour water on the fire the fire goes out

If the fire is really hot that same amount of water is evaporated into steam

So while some powers feed on others some may just cancel each other out or react violently

Keep in mind the quest has enough crunch without quantifying the magic into a metric system that aligns with the laws of psychics
>>
>>984120
Although this problem could be solved by saying there are other powers and each manifestation of each power is not equal, so the rate of conversion and consumption can never be equal, constant, or predictable. Making any meaning of the 4 powers if as equal as possible will have a random power winning.
>>
>>984145
But in your example the powers are not lost but converted into a new power, steam. And we can do a lot with that.

Most of what I'm asking would only effect the lore justification of new research and tech.
Like ways of converting one power to another for when we have a lot of one but not enough of another
>>
>>984166
Or for a lore justification for us having all 4 in us.
Each feeding off each other like 4 snakes eating each other's tails to form a circle, or an infinitely symbol.
>>
>>984181
I would assume that Jaydks ability to house different powers may have something to do with his rebirth or reconstruction. As for the numbers and conversion it's an interesting idea that should be looked into but, let's not give grave an aneurism. Maybe it can be a research thing in game to give him time to work out the mechanics of it

The chain of snake eating each other is an interesting metaphor that I rather like works well.
>>
>>984227
The chain of snakes could even in time become our symbol.
>>
>>984373
Reanimated Arkham of various elements devouring one another in a chain around a swirling sun image. Could be interesting
>>
>>984555
It wouldn't be 4 Akam, because they represent only one power, it would be 1 Akham, one sunscail, one Ojisc void singer, and one necromancer or reconstructed. Each reaching to kill the next and arraigned in the order of the flow of the powers.
inside that circle is the writhing star of the worm. And insider that. Us and the fulfillment of all

another way the powers could not be breaking the laws of thermodynamics is that the energy of the powers comes from hyperspace, and the user is just drawing it into this dimension, and if powers don't convert form one to another without loss of energy then the energy could be going back into hyperspace.
And the spark needed to use the powers could be explained as the persons soul resonates at just the right way to tap into that energy

But this is just speculation, and the more that is left unanswered the more creative freedom you have to tell the story
>>
>>985162
Hey man different question here about reality beacons and the anti-wraith technology we're working on with the plant bros. I'm tinkering with a few dedicated anti-wraith ships but would it pay to wait until the aforementioned research drive to finish so I can include them? Will the anti-wraith research lead to new ship adaptations?
>>
>>980100
So can a ship enter sub space, and use a combination drive to travel in it then exit sub space at the desired location?
If we did this we could cut travel time from one end of the galaxy to next to nothing
>>
>>988166
It would be easy enough to make some Anchor ships then upgrade them later once the research provides more options so go ahead and post em

>>988191
Sub-Space kinda breaks most known rules of physics (don't ask me to explain cause I am not a physicist)

Sub-Space is "denser" than real space and lacks natural gravitational forces that most FTL drives require to function and in fact Void Drives, skip drives, combi-drives and other systems that generate their own gravity well or manipulate gravitational forces work like shit inside Sub-Space

Confederate and UON ships that use a Warp Drive used mostly conventional sub-light engines in the beginning but modern Warp Drives have been upgraded sufficiently to propel themselves through it faster.

Here's what I got for a reality grounding cruiser.

Light Cruiser: 950B 1800M
Size: 200 meters
4 Needle Missile Pods
1 Hull Void Screamer
8 Fixed Void Flayers
10 Turret Void-Waves
6 Auxiliary Plasma Waves
1 Reality Anchor Beacon: 300B 150M
Sheilds: 200B 200M
Advanced Skip Drive
Cost: 1450B 2150M

Designed as the Necrotic Armada's first response to wraith incursions, this ship is the smallest and fastest ship capable of bearing reality beacons. It also comes equipped with an advanced skip drive to ensure it can reach a battle with the wraiths before it ends prematurely.

So anything with a "soul" can potentially have one that resonates in such a way to use powers?

So then what is the limit of a soul? Could a computer complex enough have a soul? Could a bio or plant ship have a soul?
>>
Guys I had a thought. The Armatocere have biosphere manipulation up to an including terraforming right? And we are also capable of manipulating life on a planetary scale? My idea is we offer to terraform the Netu's uninhabitable old worlds. This will get us at the very least staunch allies, several new planets, plenty of potential energy manipulators, and will make the less militaristic factions more hesitant to fight us because public opinion matters with them. The two big negatives is the time and effort as well as the attention it will give us, such as Aka'tor and maybe even the Crystals.
>>
>>988740
I fully agree, we can even through the use of dna samples and cloning bring those planets back to as close to how they where long ago, or as close as can be remembered

Predator Nekris had chosen the capitol ship with the largest presence of Arc energy coursing through it's hull as his prey. He stood on a boarding coffin as it raced with a multitude of others at the crippled battleship swarmed with harpoon and ion ships. Boarding pods already burrowed into its hull like ticks, Reconstructed beginning to swarm like an infection through the halls of the ship.

The interior of the ship was bathed in darkness as emergency lights struggled to illuminate the halls full of fighting undead and Ahkam servants, the ion guns shorting out most of the systems on the ship. The darkness was only broken by the pulsing of an emergency light here and there or the muzzleflash of guns and the glare of blaster and flayer beams. Screams and shouts echoed through the ship, mixing with the rapport of weapons into a cacophony of violence and destruction.

It was like an aria to the vicious Reconstructed General as he strode into the ship. Arc light flickered across his form and he stood there silently for several moments, his mind cast across the swarming undead on the ship, then grinned as he slid his bonded sword from its sheath. The sword Blight was forged from the bones and scales of slain Ahkam, tempered and enchanted with the blood and soul of a Sunscale. It hungered and Nekris planned to let it sate itself on the blood and flesh of the Ahkam servants.

Flanked by his enhanced Stalkers Nekris leaped into the fray, his body flashing with Arc light as he blinked several meters of distance at a time. Ahkam servants and soldiers did not know what to expect as they saw the flashes of familiar energy behind the rows of undead racing at them in the low-gravity of the ship but their words of confusion quickly became panicked shouting when he fell upon them.

Blight flickers out, after-images of arc light trailing in its path, its mirrored and serrated blade carving through armor and flesh with equal ease. Green tyrre blood, red epikor and kosda, blue esat blood sprayed out in graceful arches as he passed through them and staining his skin of rippling colors. He maimed and crippled just as readily as he drained the life of those he fought, his blade singing out in joy at the carnage.

Reconstructed leaped through the low gravity or marched along the halls, an unstoppable tide of soldiers behind their shields of heavy bone or impenetrable hardlight. Yet, for all the power of the undead the living opponents fought back viciously with a zealotry that impressed Nekris and yourself, watching from lightyears away on board the Charnel Vault. The fighting through the ship began to stall, Ahkam troops managing to hold back the Reconstructed in certain bottlenecks. They sealed passages with welding torches or flooded them with flame and lightning.

Slowly the ship seemed to recover from the ion attacks, lights beginning to flicker to life and even in a few hallways automated guns stuttering to life and cutting down approaching Talons and Stingers before they were destroyed. In one of the largest halls leading to where Nekris could sense the Ahkam, a trio of Epikor soldiers in highly advanced power-armor fought back against the tides of undead, Tyrre berserkers leaping to their deaths in brutal murder-suicides that left Reconstructed broken and shattered.

The fight through the ship was bloody and brutal, casualties high on both sides as the Undead slowly but surely pushed the defenders back or overwhelmed them with their superior numbers. Nekris was almost tempted to pull his forces back and unleash Devouring Swarms against the Ahkam forces but he wanted to keep some of their number alive to witness his victory over the serpent sure to be waiting for him. Among the forces of the Necrolyte Legion those that had been there to witness Nekris or Jadyk overthrow the Ahkam they were the most devoted to their new allegiance.

One of the armored epikor elites had fallen to a swarm of Scourge Reconstructed by the time Nekris reached the final hold-out, the esat based undead swooping in to drag them back screaming into the throng of Talons and Trolls that tore their armor to shreds. The undead tide fell back and parted as Nekris drifted forward, his blades thick with multi-colored blood and crackles of Arc energy pulsing along his body. His four vibrant eyes move independently of each other as he gazed at those Ahkam soldiers still standing.

The remaining pair of Ahkam elites, their armor scored and pitted from undead claws and necrotic blasts, stood ready for the challenger. They carried vibroaxes that thrummed with arc energy, a cable connecting the weapons to their armor where Nekris could sense the pulsing of Arc Condensers. A rarity among the Ahkam forces they also possessed hard-light shields, the nearly opaque light stretched across a filigree of metal that looked flimsy in comparison to the metal-bone shields of the Stingers and Trolls. The impassive glass faceplates of their helms gaze at Nekris as they grip their weapons tight, the undead taking a step forward and they take one forward in turn.

The complex mandibles that make up Nekris' mouth twist in a grin as he sheaths two of the blades in his lesser arms, holding Blight and a curved sword made from an Ahkams tailblade. His head tilts almost birdlike, "I sense no fear from you. Only dedication and anger," he gives them a low respectful bow suddenly, catching them by surprise as they stare, "I am Nekris, he who who slays serpents and tames the Arc," he straightens and crouches into position with blades held at the ready.

The Epikor glance at each other then move into position themselves. There was a tense moment as the fighters measure each other and then one of the armored elites charges forward attempting to slam Nekris with their shield before swinging heavy ax up at his side with the momentum of their charge. Nekris backsteps away from the slice, the straight blade of Blight darting out to scrape against their helm with a burst of sparks when they managed to twist their head in time to prevent the blade from punching through their faceplate.

The other epikor rushed forward in the shadow of the first dodging to the side, driving Nekris back again as they brought their ax down with a heavy overhead blow. Nekris attempted to retaliate with the ahkam bone blade slashing at their arm but the first leaped between the blow and their companion and the blade skittered across the hardlight shield with a shower of sparks. A follow-up attack from the second Epikor drove Nekris to blink past them with a burst of Arc-light but as he tried to spin, using the momentum to slice into their unprotected back, they managed to bring their shield into the path once more, driving him back.

>cont
>>
>>989506
Nekris paced, talons clutching at the metal floor as he let out a laugh, the pair of fighters standing ready once more, "You shall go into the history of the Predators and spoken of in honor," he congratulates them before dashing forward once more. His form started to blur as the Arc distorted the light around him, energy coursing through his body making him move supernaturally fast as he clashed with the elite guards. Lights flashed as blade met blade or scraped along glowing shields, the undead general teleporting short distances in attempts to catch the fighters off-guard. He rebounds off the walls and even ceilings as he moved faster and faster, his non-existent blood pumping with excitement over the fight.

Finally, one of the elites faltered at a kick to the back of their leg as Nekris flowed around them. Stumbling to their knee they caught themselves but it was too late and Blight struck like a serpent, wedging itself between armored plates and impaling the elite from behind. There was bright flash of Arc-light when the blade was tugged free and they fell to the ground motionless, Nekris wasting no time to pounce upon the other. His blades were a blur, severing the cable that powered the powerful vibroaxe then hamstringing them with a slash across the backs of the knees. As before Blight darted out to puncture the armor and they fell before him with a flash of drained energy.

Yet, Blight was not resoaked in epikor blood. Arc energy pulsed along its edge and he nods to the undead that had waited patiently for the duel to finish. Trolls surged forward and clutched the fallen defenders and dragged them away. With their Arc Condensers drained of all power and paralyzed by the attack, trapped within their own armor.

The few remaining Ahkam soldiers that stood between Nekris and the doors of the Ahkams inner chamber trembled in fear before him. He grinned and lifted his blades once more, dashing forward. His blades drank deep of their blood and life energy.

Surrounded and splashed with gore Nekris reached out with his formidable telekinetic might and brutalized the locks of the great door sealing off his prize and target. With a grunt of effort the heavy door creaks as it was forced open and Nekris stood in the light that washed forth from within.

Coiled in the center of the room was an Ahkam serpent but Nekris was taken aback at their state. They were a male, green scaled and hoodless but they were old. The vibrant green of their scales was muted, great scars marking their body, their remaining eye glaring down at them derisively. Still, Predator Nekris knew not to underestimate the beast, the power of the Arc surging under their scales enough to make him hesitate but he grinned.

He gave a deep bow of respect to the serpent, all four of his blades drawn now as he faced the beast, "Do you fear Death, old one?" he asked in a friendly tone before launching himself once more into battle.

Nekris held nothing back as he attacked, Arc energy coursing through his being as he bent the light to his will. To the epikor and kosda huddled in fear along the edges of the bridge it would almost appear as if there was more than one of the undead, blinking across short distances or rebounding off the walls and consoles.

He slashed at the snake as he passed, trying to move too quickly for it to strike but even in its obviously advanced age it was a formidable foe. It struck at him repeatedly, attempting to snatch him in its jaws full of teeth and Nekris could feel the rush of air each time and the energy that pulsed through the Ahkam. Blight carved great rents in its armored scales, blue blood welling up and gushing forth but the blows he caused hardly seemed to slow it.

As the two titans duels Shadows and Looms crept into the bridge and silently began to drag the kosda and epikor away from the battle. With a shout from one observant epikor the others broke their reverie and began to hunker down, remembering themselves and firing at the undead that attempted to spirit them away.

Where they fought Nekris had the advantage, smaller and more maneuverable inside the confines of the bridge, he was able to dart around their bites and blasts of Arc energy that roiled off it chaotically. The old Ahkam's energy threatened it's own crew more than the Predator slicing into it but they did not even notice as a kosda attempting to flee from a Shadow was struck by a stray bolt and fell slowly to the floor in the low-gravity, their own scales blackened and smoking from the attack with eyes burst from their sockets.

Slowly as they fought the serpent began to uncoil, spreading itself along the bridge until it filled nearly the whole cleared area around it. Nekris rebounded off the ceiling, attempting to strike behind the head when they were caught by surprise with a sudden twisting of the serpents body. It's bladed tail lashed out and swatted the undead bodily, sending him tumbling head over heels to smash into a console with a shower of sparks.

Finally the Ahkam began to make verbal sounds, oddly silent compared to the other Ahkam Nekris had faced before but they just began to laugh. A low rumbling hiss of laughter filled the room as they coiled up ready to strike. Nekris stood shakily and touched the stumps of the arms on his left side in surprise, both limbs removed and scatted across the bridge. The side of his face had been nearly collapsed, his eyes on that side ruined and the chitin armor shattered like an egg.

>cont
>>
>>989864
Yet despite his new wounds Nekris began to cackle as well, silencing the laughter of the serpent who peered at him curiously. Gripping Blight in one of his remaining hands Nekris charged forward once more. The Ahkam darted its large head forward, attempted to snatch him in its great yawning mouth but Nekris spun himself, Blight scoring a deep cut along the beasts face underneath the remaining eye. His lesser arm, free of a weapon, reached out and dug his claws into the new wound and flipped the undead onto the back of the serpents neck.

The froze like that, the Ahkam pausing midstrike with Nekris clinging to the scales of its neck. Blight pressed against the base of their skull where it met their neck, the point of the blade wedged between the thick armored plates that protected it.

Nekris is very wounded but has the upper-hand. How shall he deal with this formidable foe?

Nekris presses the blade harder against the sensitive flesh between the armored scales, feeling the current of Arc energy that naturally pulsed through the Ahkam. With his injuries it was quite tempting to drain it of their life, fueling his regeneration until he could take a dip in a Cauldron but instead he held himself back. The Ahkam was the first to injure him since his attack against the Diver Sunscale and the first to truly threaten his unlife, not to mention with only a single blow.

His voices growls out, "Tell me your name, old one. I would know who almost slew me," he was ready to admit how close the battle had nearly gone against him.

The snake was still tense but did not seem ready to strike, feeling that unnaturally cold blade pressed against his flesh. Their voice was rough as it rumbled out, "The Osjiic call me Butcher. My children call me Old Father. My servants call me Terror. I am Vle'Karak," they say finally, "Give me a proper death. I had hoped for one last proper battle and I can die relieved that it wasn't at the hands of an osjiic cur or the punishment of time." Around them the remaining Ahkam servants stared in disbelief at one of their gods submitting to their attacker, Reconstructed able to move in and escort them without effort.

Vle'Karak slowly lowered himself to rest his chin on a coil of his tail as if accepting his death. Nekris clicked his mandibles in thought before a few inches of Blight pierced the Ahkams flesh. Vle'Karak hissed in pain then gasped as great swathes of his energy was siphoned into the blade but as he felt himself grow weaker Nekris pulls the blade free without warning.

The wounded undead drifted to the floor next to the great head of the beast and sheathed Blight. His body shimmered with the feast of Arc energy and he pat the serpents snout, Vle'Karak staring at him curiously, "You fight well, Vle'Karak. No, your death is not this day," he says before one of the great collars he'd designed to capture the Ahkam flies forward in his telekinetic grasp and snaps shut around their neck.

Victory!

Nekris is gravely wounded but he has succeeded in capturing the old Ahkam male Vle'Karak the Butcher.

As Vle'Karak's unconscious form was lifted by Dirges and escorted along with the surrendering ahkam troops a message escaped one of the few still free Epikor. A message of the Terror's defeat was broadcast to the remaining Ahkam ships in the system still battling with Agona's forces above the gas giant.

There was an exodus then, the remaining capitols marked with Arc energy flaring to life. As fighters and sub-capitol retreated to join the remaining battleships a Storm Gate grew around them. Nails attempted to pursue into the great cloud only for their pilots minds to wink out when they did.

Abandoning the remaining Ahkam ships in the system along with those entrenched on Kanda, the main Ahkam fleet departs in great bursts of Arc energy.

Boarding parties continued to fight through the Ahkam ships still in the system that they'd crippled but none of the capitols held the presence of a proper Ahkam serpent.

The Ahkam fleet has retreated from the B'Nan system at Vle'Karaks capture. Brief interrogation of Ahkam officers reveal that he was the main driving force behind the conquest.

And yeah, the Ahkam Dynasties know that there is a new Necrotic faction rising up after losing several juvenile and male ahkam when driven off from Bastion and Rukor, not to mention the time the Armada baited them into fighting the Osjiic and then Lorgul charged into battle screaming the name of the Armada and Jadyk.

And the fact that an Ahkam Matriarch was injured in battle against the Armada.

The know the Armada exists and they are getting more and more upset.

Woo! I hope we find her "alive"
But I do have a question.
Why, world a prison, build to contain a litch that craves the worship of mortals more so necromancer mortals, alow one in?
If this was made by the same people the trapped us, why would they put forth any challenges that would allow the litch to be freed?
>>
>>991535
Gettin hype about Jor meeting aunty Ruscov here.
>>
>>991812
Is doesn't make sense, this is a prison, not a tomb, or plaice.
The only other place like this we have found had crystal defenses against narcotic energy.
They tried to keep it out.
But this one? It's trying to let it in, and only in a way that would most please the one contained.
It doesn't make sense. Unless...
It's a trap. A hunny pot. Bait.
For a necrotic gifted mortal to enter would mean that the armada, or something like it was back in the world.

We don't know what happened to the crystal race that doomed us before, they just up and disappeared.
But what if they just stepped out of our dimension or timeline? Waiting for the trap they set to spring and call them back into our world to put down the undead threat again
>>
>>991886
Imagine your a liche who craves mortal attention/adoration/worship

Now imagine the armada you are part of is bein picked and torn apart, it's champions destroyed it's followers scattered. And then your god gets straight up murdered well, you might be inclined I hide build a large temple to amuse yourself in but set up an entry that requires one who worships your old god to open the door

I would think if it as more a nuclear bunker situation then a prison or baited trap

Especially if you can wait out eternity before emerging as "behold mortals your new god is here"

It was completely dark behind the sealed doors and very cold. Jor shivered despite the comfortable warmth provided by the exosuit he wore. His helm attempted to show what lay ahead but thermal and visual ranges were almost useless, instead a small vent opening on the ridge of bone that formed the armor of his shoulder and small sonic chirps were released. The sonar painted a color-washed scene the sound waves bounced off the walls and returned. Ahead of him lay a long tunnel, a few piles of rubble appearing along the way until the image grows indistinct.

Jor began to walk down the tunnel following the pulses of the suits sonar. He thought back to when he'd accidentally freed Jadyk. Beyond a dream and hunch of a massive bounty of mineral resources that urged him to dig at a slightly different angle there had been nothing to indicate that there had been an old Necrotic tomb laying in their path. He had seen the tomb that had been Jadyk's prison for millennia and started to wonder about the differences between the tombs of the two liches.

Jadyk had told him he was likely imprisoned by the Wasps and Crystalline Minds when they could not destroy his phylactery. His tomb had been nondescript and well hidden in the heart of a mountain range on some distant backwater world. A neighboring planet hosted an abandoned outpost of the Crystalline Minds, the corrupted data proving that it had been left to keep watch over Jadyk's prison. Only the barest of decorations had been left to amuse Jadyk, pillars long demolished in fits of rage and madness and the stone chair Jadyk had bemusedly turned into his seat of power and a symbol of his increasing power. Jor let out a small chuckle as he remembered slapping a few hoverpads to the stone chair and strapping zombified cliff-jumpers in a harness to drag it around like some absurd palanquin.

Yet here in Ruscuv's supposed tomb the Confederation had been here for some time, investigating it but seeming unable to make it very far if the damaged mining tools left by the door were any suggestion. This tomb was much to decorated, frescoes and carvings of old Armada victories and Undying Council legends. Not to mention the psionic voice putting forth a challenge for a Necromancer of the Wormstar.

The necromancer chewed on his lip as he kept walking, the tunnel beginning to descend and widen quickly now.

No, this was no Crystal prison-tomb Jor found himself in. This was more than that.

The walls of the tunnel took sharp turns and veered away into the darkness, Jor standing at the edge of a massive cavern his sonar could not fully map. He strode forward, quelling down the brief flicker of fear he'd felt at the back of his throat, heading deeper into the unmarked darkness of the chamber.

There was a brief moment where Jor was blinded as a brazier flared into life ahead of him before the helm adjusted the brightness. A brazier sat chest high to him a dozen yards in front of him, a vibrant green flame roiling in the center of the twisted nest of blackened metal and bone. Jor could sense the necrotic energy of the flame and realized he felt the same sensation around him growing stronger.

Hesitating only a moment he walked over to the brazier and looked into the flames. At first he wasn't sure why but he reached up and brushed his thumb over a stud of bone and his mask flicks open, exposing him to the air of the tomb. The air was biting and cold, his lung burning but still breathable.

He'd found that along with the shocking amount of weight he'd lost along with his sense of hunger and most of his hair that he could breath in atmospheres that would be dangerous or toxic to others. The Voidsinger Commander had given him a strange look when he'd visited Legion's Home and was able to breath the poison atmosphere, not to mention the Think Tanks warning him of the noxious fumes that constantly filled the rooms where the Cauldrons roiled and spit.

He looked into the fire and after several long moments spoke in old Wormtongue, his voice tinged with his Corrin accent, "I am one of flesh dedicated to the might of the Wormstar. I am First Necromancer Jor Verlik, servant of the Lich Lord Jadyk the Conquering Worm."

His voice ringed out in the vast chamber for nearly a minute and then a voice that seemed to issue from the flame directly into his skull whispered out <Jadyk is true dead. You speak the Wormtongue well but they are false words. Surrender your flesh to me, give me everything that you are.>

Jor wasn't sure if he'd heard the words correctly but as he took a hesitant step back light began to flare into being around him. Other orbs of the necrotic flame appear in the distance, forming in rings around the shapes of Reconstructed unlike any he had seen before.

Three of them stood motionless illuminated before him, only two resembling humanoids in their stances but that was where the similarities ended. The flames converged into a single sphere before each and drifted into the chests of each. They shuddered after a moment and the green flame flared within eye sockets and between slats of armored bone.

The armored helm snaps shut around his head once more and Jor takes a cautious step back, staff and shardspitter taken into hand. The first Reconstructed strides forward on a collection of slender limbs with terminating in knife-points of glinting polished bone. It looked like nothing more than a jumbled collection of bones but Jor could see how it moved together comprised of a multitude of bones linked together like chains.

It moved with a disarming grace for its shabby appearance, Jor hardly getting a chance to react when it suddenly crouched and launched itself at him with shocking speed. He sidestepped with his hidden advanced jump-pack boosting him away and fired a spray of necrotically charged flechettes at the construct. Bone chips flew from the attack but the heap hardly slowed, correcting it's leap and charging at him again with claws outstretched.

Thrusting the reaver staff in its direction as it charged he swatted it out of the air with blast of telekinetic power and it lands with a loud clatter to the ground. A twitch of its limbs and Jor lets out a shout of pain as knife-like bones were flicked at him, two embedding themselves in his upper arm and stomach. He bled from the wound on his arm nearly dropping Neun but the armor plating had stopped the blade from goring him.

The construct leaped at him once more and he snarled in anger, his staff flipping in his hand so the bladed point at the end was brought to bear as he thrust out his other hand, letting Neun fall to its harnessed straps. The bone construct found itself paralyzed in mid-air and tried to slash at Jor when the human dashed forward to impale it through its center with the reavers blade. Bone knives scored hits on the human, stabbing into his arms thighs and chest, the blades skittering off his helm but they did not get to fillet him like he felt was it's intention.

It jerked wildly then fell limp as Jor ravenously drained the necrotic energy fueling it and it drops in an loose pile of bones at his feet. He brushed the knives away as his wounds sealed into new scars and looked up in time to see the second Reconstructed striding toward him.

Humanoid it was armored in dense bone, its skull resembling some strange creature with great curling horns. Necrotic flames leaked from its mouth as it moved toward Jor, a shield and spiked mace in its grasp. Jor held out his hand and grimaced, ignoring the blood that started to leak from his nose. The blades of the first construct lift off the ground and with a flex of his fingers several launch at the approaching undead. It shrugged off the first volley with its shield and its pace began to increase until it was running at him.

Leaping backwards with his jump-pack he launched the other blades at the pursuer before lifting Neun once more to riddle it with bone and metal shrapnel. Only this time he used its limited store of void-infused flechettes and the darts seemed to have more effect than before, burrowing into armor and shield. Jor thought to himself that maybe explosive rounds would've been wiser to bring but the Reconstructed bellow out and charges at him swinging its mace hard.

He had been surprised by the sudden burst of speed and he let out a shout of agony as the mace shattered his lower leg and ankle. A blast of telekinetic energy sends them rocketing away from each other as the exosuit stiffens around the shattered limb like a makeshift cast and anesthetic drugs were injected into his thigh making the limb go numb and slow.

The pain seemed to awaken something in Jor and as he found himself driven back towards the entrance he'd come from, he felt his anger flare to life in him. The Reconstructed was upon him again and swung their mace in a downward stroke to shatter his skull but Jor screamed in defiance and the arm holding the mace shattered from the telekinetic attack that left the inside of Jors mask wet with a gush of blood from his nose and lips. It was ignored as he took the staff in both hands and drove the spear-point into the open maw of the undead, the blade emerging from the top of its skull.
>>
>>992772
It collapsed at his feet like the other had and Jor felt the exhilarating rush of Necrotic power flow into him. He turned to face the last approaching obstacle with something that felt like giddy excitement but the sight of the creature marching towards him made him hesitate. The giant was as tall as a Brute but not malformed and hampered by its own weight, it's armor finely crafted along with the large flayer it carried in its grasp. A single blazing eye stared down at him above curving tusks and it lifted the great weapon aiming at the human.

Jor swore and dove out of the way as a powerful beam of crackling necrotic might leaps out and melts a glowing hole into the floor where Jor had been moments before. It swept the beam after him for a frantic few seconds before the beam cut short. Jor fired the remaining reserve of Void flechettes at the cyclopean undead as he leaped and skipped away from it's aim as fast as he could with his crippled limb.

The titan stomped after him with heavy steps, the flayer beam leaping out after him as he ran frantically to avoid the deadly force. Some sound within the weapon made him look in surprise as it aimed and a secondary barrel extended and let out a bark of explosive force. Jor barely managed to twist in time and bring his arm up, a hardlight shield springing into being before him as the shotgun spray of bone shrapnel collided with it and sent him tumbling.

The staff fell from his grasp and he landed with a grunt as pain blazed through him. He looked down at his arm where the darts embedded in his arm began to make a drilling noise as they dug into the armored plates and flesh with vibrating motions then detonated in small explosions along his arm.

Jor's world went white with pain as his right arm was shredded from the elbow down and he shuddered as his body nearly went into shock. If it hadn't been for the hardlight shield and a burst of deflecting telekinetic energy he would have been turned into a blood smear along the ground.

Clutching at his ruined arm he struggled to look up as the suit did its best to seal off as a tourniquet and pumping him full of painkillers. The titan loomed over him, the crackling blackened barrel of the flayer aimed at him. Through the pain he thought how ridiculous this death was and his rage bubbled up like some black tar from the core of his being.

Veins in his eyes ruptured as he reached out and the Reaver staff flew off the ground but instead of racing for his hand he flung himself in a parody of a throwing motion and the staff shot like a bolt through the temple of the Reconstructed. It staggered then fell to its knees.

A bolt of necrotic lightning leaped from the end of the staff embedded in the titan and struck Jor. The brutalized necromancer siphons the power of the reconstructed and he felt his sense of hunger return. Feasting on the energy of the undead monstrosity he slowly stood and the titan collapsed backwards as the necrotic energy snuffed out.
>>
>>992782
Jor sat there in the euphoric feeling of the necrotic energy coursing through him, his flesh graying from its normal dark hue, veins standing up and pulsing black fluid through him but that was hidden by his armor. His mask flipped back and blood ran the front of his armor and he spat large globs of dark blood and bile out to the ground. Slowly the high of the overdose of necrotic energy waned and pain started to return to him.

Yanking his staff free it floats over to him and he uses it to stand, the bladed retracting once more. He hobbled past the fallen undead and made his way back to the lone brazier in the darkness. He glares at it suspiciously before spitting out in Wormtongue, "I am the chosen Necromancer of Lich Lord Jadyk. You will recognize my authority and submit. Ruscuv of the Wormstar, I call you forth to face me."

That same voice began his hiss with laughter in his skull once more. The flame of the brazier started to dwindle and Jor was ready to shout in fury but he realized lights began to rise up in the chamber. He took a step back in disbelief and a modicum of fear as the glowing crystalline lights spaced throughout the chamber on the large pillars that supported the roof illuminated the undead arrayed around him.

A collection of Reconstructed and other strains of undead stood in the chamber, several more of the titans standing motionless. But what drew Jor's gaze was none of the mundane undead. A large stone slab stood before him, the skeletal shape of a mangled but monstrous body embedded among the stone, fossilized and still.

Ruscuv's corpse loomed before him and it took several moments before he noticed a hunched undead walk around the slab and approach him. A multitude of eyes stared at him, glassy and unseeing but it's jaws worked open after millennia of disuse, "You stand before the might Ruscuv. Her corpse and phylactery guarded by her sentries," it spoke in old Wormtongue, "Welcome, First Necromancer Jor. I am her caretaker until the time for renewal and rebirth are upon the galaxy. Lich Lord Jadyk has returned?" its voice was dry and creaking but it spoke with something similar to hope.

Jor nodded and let out a sigh of relief, "I as the one to free him from his prison. He sent me to face Ruscuv's trial."

The Caretaker bobbed their misshapen skull excitedly, "Wondrous news. Commence the sacrifice and Ruscuv's reanimation process shall commence." It extended a skeletal claw across the brazier toward Jor expectantly.

>Jor has completed Ruscuv's Trial and proven himself.
>Jor is badly injured and overdosing on Necrotic Energy
>>
>>992889
Jor slowly reached out a hand and the Caretaker made an impatient motion to his mangled arm. The armor of the suit had gone rigid and he grimaces as he lifts the deadened limb out across the brazier and the undead clutched at his hand with a multitude of strange talons. A pair of scissored blades flashed in its other arm emerging from its dark robes and Jor did not have time to react.

His arm fell from the stump where the Caretaker had sliced through armor, bone and muscle just above the elbow in a split second. A splatter of dark red blood splatters across the severed limb and Jor falls back, clutching at his new stump with a groan of pain and glares at the Caretaker.

The laughter of the old undead annoyed Jor, "A sacrifice of flesh, bone and blood from the mighty warrior who passed the test. This will start the process of reanimation. If Jadyk is your true master then you shall bring to us a Cauldron and fuel for Ruscuv's Reconstruction. Go now, First Necromancer Jor," they said before looking down at the brazier where his limb lay, necrotic flames returning to wash over it as the Caretaker waved their hands over and through the flames chanting.

So Guys quick question? Why have we not started cloning members of the legion yet? increasing their numbers cannot be a bad thing.
>>
>>996438
I'm all for suggesting it to the void singer commander

What we need is to start producing ships for the legions specific use
>>
>>996003
I'm sure Ruscov would jump at the chance to teach living necromancers the finer points of melee combat.

Although I worry that in practice her teaching methods would be sorta like that instructor in Dodgeball.
>>
>>996821
Death merely weeds out the weak

Having said that if we made them into immortals upon their "graduation" they would become very powerful/durable combatants who can easily be repaired.

Wonder how long until that option tickles Jors fancy

Speaking of immortals is there a way to disguise them so they look like living creature as opposed to chitinous monsters?

I mean there nothing wrong with being monstrous but let's try an make that a terrifying surprise for who ever tries to peel back their skin
>>
>>996743
The Legions actually been using the Armadas ships. Their ships crews usually consist few Legionnaires in command with Reconstructed while in battle and then mostly all Legionnaires with minimum undead support during their training and mundane missions so they don't get too rusty and reliant on them.

>>997187
I'm sure there can be a way to grow an Immortal a temporary skin so they're less monstrous.
