In a time of global crisis, an elite international task force known as Overwatch was formed. Soldiers, scientists, adventurers, and oddities: together, they ended the Omnic Crisis and restored peace to a war-torn world. The heroes of Overwatch kept peace for a generation, inspiring an era of exploration, innovation, and discovery.

After many years, Overwatch became troubled, and finally disbanded. World conflict began to rise again. Overwatch was goneā€¦but the world still needed heroes.

You are a young man who's been many things: adventurer, treasure hunter, freedom fighter, and international criminal. Recently you encountered the re-formed Overwatch: a grand title for two ex-agents, Winston and Tracer, operating as outlaws out of an abandoned Watchpoint. Despite their down-and-out-status, or perhaps because of it, you were inspired to join them. You left your old life behind to become the first recruit of the new Overwatch.

Now you and Tracer are travelling the globe, defending the people of the world from harm and searching for potential agents to rebuild Overwatch. The world needs heroes. Maybe you can be one of them.

Previously on Overwatch Quest:

After the battle at Eichenwalde, Reinhardt and his armorer Brigitte were ready to join the team. Before you left, you encountered a strangely non-aggressive Bastion unit, and convinced it to join you at Gibraltar.

The next day was spent working with Winston in his laboratory, developing a mechanism of your combined design for your first ultimate ability: the Shadowshot.

It's evening on the day you created the Shadowshot, and you're alone in the crew quarters.

You pick up a nearby datapad. There are several things you've been thinking about, ever since you joined up. Some of them are thorny problems, going to take a while to figure out. But there's at least one thing you've decided on. You open your Overwatch profile and type something in.

"Name change acknowledged," says Athena. "Good evening, Seeker."

"Hi, Athena."

"Your first mission went quite well. I hope your journey to America will also prove successful."
"Thanks." You think back to the discussion earlier this evening.

The Command Center is out by the launch pad, a vast room of dark walls and white surfaces. Winston had set up a holographic projector displaying a map of the globe, marking crisis points and potential agents.

The other four agents were there: Winston, Tracer, Mercy, and Reinhardt. All veterans of the original Overwatch crew. Two founding members, and two of the three first wave of recruits. Voicing your opinion in front of them was a little intimidating, but once you got started, it went well. "If we go to Arizona," you told them. "We can get McCree to join up with us, and shut down the Deadlock Gang at the same time." That was enough to convince them, and they all seemed satisfied to follow your proposal.

You sigh and flop back on your bunk. It's great that they're taking your advice and all, but you're supposed to be the new guy, and you're already starting to feel the pressure here.

You look at your datapad. Athena's icon is rotating slowly in the corner. "Athena ..."

"What sort of functions do you possess, Athena?"

"That is a bit like asking what sort of functions you possess, Seeker. Your human mind can learn to do many things. I am much the same way.

"In terms of what is useful to you: I have written myself several routines for monitoring worldwide data and communciations. When I detect crisis points or potential Overwatch agents, I will flag them for your notice. I am also equipped with real-time data on current agents, including location, biometric readouts, and personality analysis matrix, allowing you to monitor your team status at any time."

"Hold on," you say. "You keep saying "you". Do you mean the team, or me, specifically?"

"You, Seeker."

"Wait. Am I ... " You gather your thoughts for a moment. "Am I in charge here? You can't be serious. I know Winston is letting me choose the missions, but I thought ... I thought I was the new guy?"

"My personality analysis matrix suggests that you have the character traits best suited for a leadership role," says Athena. "The others may be responding to this despite their seniority, with or without realizing it."

"What about Reinhardt? He's big and brave, a veteran, leads from the front. Isn't he more suited?"

"Reinhardt Wilhelm is bold but reckless," says Athena. She calls up a biometric readout of Reinhardt. "He is also sixty-two years old. While still vigorous, due to age and repeated trauma, he is at risk for a number of ailments."

You sigh and rub your forehead. "Damn. No idea how I'm going to handle that. You know, speaking of Reinhardt, he said something about you being a "god mind". Something to do with powerful AIs, and the Omnics. Is that true, are you one of these god minds?"

"No. I am an advanced artificial intelligence, and I was named for a god. But I am not like them."

"How so?"

"In the way that I am assisting you and Overwatch and not attempting to purge organic life from the surface of the Earth."

"Right, okay. That's good. Glad to have you on Team Human, Athena."

"Likewise." You think you detect a hint of humor in the synthesized voice.

You decide it's best if you leave the squad the way it is for now. Reinhardt still needs time to recover fully from the beating he took at Eichenwalde, and leaving Mercy with him will ensure he gets the healing he needs. Besides, this mission may require a subtle approach, and you get the feeling neither of them would be very good at blending in where you're going. And "Team Alpha" is a good name for now. Can't beat the classics.

The speedy Aurora should get you to Arizona without much trouble. You try to calculate the time zones in your head. You'll basically chase the sun west. So whatever time of day you leave, that's about the time of day you'll arrive at your destination.

You and Tracer leave bright and early the next morning. She takes the Aurora up into the morning sky and heads west.

It's a several hour journey over the Atlantic and North America. Tracer doesn't have much to do after she engages the autopilot. She leans back in her seat and props her feet up, crossing her legs over the armrest.

"Seeker, eh? I saw you decided on your, what was it you called it? Your "official Overwatch name or whatever." Athena told me you used to be some kind of treasure hunter, right? Is that where you got the idea? Or is it something about how we're "seeking" Overwatch agents together?"

"I'm okay with that," you say in reply. "We're a team. So if our names are similar, that's cool with me. Seeker and Tracer. That's got a ring to it, right? Sounds like a pair of badasses to me."

"Hehe. Yeah, that is pretty cool. Although maybe it should be Tracer and Seeker," she adds. Her voice is kidding, but her smile is sincere.

"I can't wait to see the bootleg toys mix them up. I just hope they don't mix anything else up. Not sure how I'd look in yellow leggings."

Tracer laughs. "Yeah, can't say it'd be a good look on you, mate."

It's a pretty good look on you, you think about saying, taking a moment to admire those legs. But no. You're going to be working with this girl for some time. No need to blunder into things too early. "So," you say instead. "Any ideas for what we can do on the trip?" Dammit, that sounds like a pick-up line too.

"Want to watch Six-Gun Killer?" suggests Tracer. "That should get us in the right frame of mind for a trip to the Wild West. I've got to keep an eye on the Aurora here even with the autopilot. But I've seen it before."

"Okay, sure," you say. "Why does he have six guns?"

"Cause he's got six arms, of course. Needs a gun for each hand. Are you daft or wot?" Tracer grins at you. "Let me queue it up here."

The sounds of gunshots and lonesome guitar music fill the cabin as the Aurora soars over the Atlantic.

The show does like to take the piss out of Hank often, showing how he just seems kinda goofy and uninformed about a lot of things, but it also goes just as far to establish he's just trying to do right by the people he cares about. I feel like a lot of the people who watched the show didn't really catch on to those traits and just stuck to the more obvious stuff. I appreciate a character like that.

"Let's check out that propane store," you suggest. "Everybody needs propane around here, right? Not many fossil fuels still around these days. I'll bet the guy who works there knows everyone around here."

Tracer settles the Aurora down in a sheltered spot nearby. The two of you walk into town, passing by Big Earl's gas station.

"Wish I'd brought me cowboy hat," says Tracer. "I coulda blended right in."

"Maybe we can find a place that sells them," you say.

The town is barely waking up, but Deadlock Propane has an OPEN sign, so you walk in. Inside is a square-angled omnic with a rectangular head and some kind of goggles strapped to its face. "Hey there, strangers," it says. "Welcome to Deadlock Propane. Name's Hank H-111, and I sell propane and propane accessories. What can I do for you?"

"Hey there, Hank. We were looking for something."

"I'll take a camping stove and some propane for it," you say. It might come in handy, you never know.

"Well you came to the right place, I tell you hwat." The Omnic ambles over to the accessories.

"Tell me about your town here," you say. "Nice little place."

"Well sir, we ain't rightly a town so much as a handful of folks making a living off the Route. That's Route 66 I mean, only highway connecting Hollywood and New Vegas to the East. That little street out there connects right to it, over by the Panorama. So we get truckers and tourists stopping by there for a bite to eat, or at Big Earl's for gas, or here for some propane or propane accessories." The omnic adjusts his spectacles. "Or at least, we did. Those damn Rebels have moved in again. This her stove should suit you just fine. Let me get a tank ready for you."

"Thanks. Hey, I've heard a friend of mine was in the area, I was trying to track him down and say hello." You're about to describe him as "a cowboy" before you realize that could describe at minimum half the local population. "He's about average height, smokes cigars, wears a red poncho. Carries a big magnum."

"Huh. I think I may have seen the man. Scruffy looking type, ain't he?"

Tracer says, "Definitely."

"Yeah, that fella was in my store just the other day. Bought the same thing as you, a portable cookin' stove and some propane. He was askin' me all about those no-good Deadlock goons. Seemed like one of them outlaw types. I told him, "Now you listen to me, mister! I work for a living, and I mean real work. I provide the people of this community with propane and propane accessories. If you aim to join up with those good fer nothing punks, you can just take your business elsewhere.""

"But you still sold him the propane."

"He said he didn't plan on it. Something about unfinished business. Very serious fella."

"Sounds like Jesse to me," says Tracer.

"Where do you think we might find him?"

"Not sure where he'd be staying," says Hank. "The Cave Inn is our hotel, but it's a little, er, under-maintained right now. Since it's morning, maybe he's having breakfast at the Panorama."

You and Tracer exit the building. "I'm going to stash my new camping stove in the Aurora," you say. "And then ..."

You and Tracer head to the Panorama Diner. It's a squad, red building right between the road and the gorge, with a view of the surrounding mountains. You push open the door with the tinkling of a bell, and enter.

Inside is a diner that's clearly seen better days. You pass by a battered jukebox as you enter. Behind the counter is an old man in a white apron, mopping a spot on the counter with a rag, giving every appearance of having stood there mopping that same spot for thirty years. You glance to the left as you walk inside, not really expecting to find what you were looking for, which makes it all the more surprising when you see that exact thing: a man in a red poncho and cowboy hat, sitting at a table along the left wall.

"Well now," he drawls, looking at Tracer. "You seem familiar, ma'am. Ain't I seen you someplace before?"

"Jesse!" says Tracer. She blinks across the room to his table. "It feels like it's been ages!"

"It's been long enough, that's for sure. Who's this feller here? New boyfriend?"

"H-he's my new teammate, Seeker." Tracer's cheeks turn red.

"Seeker, is it? Howdy." The cowboy extends his right hand, the flesh-and-blood one, and you shake it. "Name's McCree. You fellers had breakfast? Why don't you get yourselves some food and sit down? I wouldn't drink the coffee, though. Always tasted like boiled dirt."

"Got to go with the Steak 'N' Eggs," you say. "You can't not have steak and eggs. It's a well-rounded breakfast."

"A fine opinion, if I say so myself," says McCree.

"Can you get me a World Famous Roadkill Burger, Seeker?" says Tracer. "I got to find out if it's really roadkill, and if so, what that tastes like."

You order your food at the counter, with hash browns on the side. The old man cooks it up with unhurried but efficient movements. "Old Al's been cooking here for some thirty-odd years," says McCree. "Still ain't learned to boil a decent pot of coffee, though."

You get back to the table with your food. Tracer and McCree are reminiscing about the old days. "And that's when I punched the feller right in the teeth," McCree is saying, laughing. "Had to eat with a straw for a while. Probably less than he deserved. But he never laid a finger on a woman like that again, not while I was around."

You sit down, and McCree looks at you. His smile is polite, but his eyes, shadowed by the brim of his hat, are cool and measuring. "Young feller, you'd best be taking good care of our girl Lena here."

"Doing my best," you say. "I think we're a good team."

Tracer grins. "So far so good."

The diner is quiet except for the ceiling fan, and a distant train whistle.

"I'm helping Tracer here get the band back together," you say. "We're the new Overwatch. And we're recruiting."

McCree almost chokes on a piece of egg. He coughs, thumps his chest once, swallows. "Overwatch, huh. Haven't heard that name in a while. This your crazy idea, Lena?"

"Me and Winston," she says.

"Yeah, that sounds about right. You two were the true believers. Even when all the shit hit the fan, and those damn fools in the original squad were drifting apart, you kept trying to make things work. And now here you are, still trying."

"Jesse, if you're just going to make fun of me--"

"I'm ain't! I'm saying I admire that. But I still don't know." McCree looks away. "Without Gabe, or Jack, or the cap, it won't be the same. And the world don't want us no more. All those medals we earned, in the end, they were just fool's good. Overwatch is dead. Maybe we should let it stay that way."

"You're right that it won't be the same," says Tracer. "Maybe we can't solve all the world's problems like before. But we can at least do something. Something to make a difference. So you're wrong. We shouldn't let it stay that way. We can't."

"Even if I wanted to help you, missy -- which I ain't saying I do, mind you -- I've got things to do of my own. Unfinished business."

The train whistle sounds again, closer this time. The tracks are a huge bridge spanning the gorge, practically overtop the diner, and you can see the train through the window, approaching from the opposite side.

"Is it something to do with what's going on in this town?" Tracer asks McCree.

"You could say that. I tracked down a few of my old compadres who I wanted some words with. Found out they were up to something. Something big. Dangerous. And I think it's soon." He shakes his head. "If I could just find out what--"

You happen to be looking out the window when the bridge explodes.

>>1007974
>>1007979
To me the block projectile seems outta place, to me like some other heroes have similar ability. I know it is useful but like magnets and gravity can do other cool things.

Like stick to walls instead of wall running like Lucio, or a support ability to give that mobility to others for a short duration.

We still haven't like locked down on a role yet. But I am leaning towards getting Support abilities.
>>
>>1007988
Like a reverse Zenyatta!
>>
>>1007988
I dig that picture dawg.
>>
>>1007988
An idea would be a AOE stun ability, using gravity to "weigh" them down too much to stand. If reversed you'd just send them flying upwards or away from seeker.

Another idea would be the ability, as discussed, to disrupt enemy's aim but that seems too broken without some limits.

Also, we could consider getting another ability like launching our weapon in blade form like a boomerang aimed with magnetism. Kinda stupid but I love the idea of being able to toss it round obstacles and shit.

Lastly, I suppose we could look into the possibility of some sort of ability based off of our name. E,g increased damage to one person / vision of them through walls allowing us to "seek" them out.

Also that is quite a nice pic.
>>
>>1007996
That last one...
What about a dart like Anna has, instead of sleeping it let's us see our enemy through the walls like you suggested. For a short time of course.
>>
Following the Gravity/Magnet Idea for actives.

A magnetic wire or bolo type gadget they when thrown and hits/wraps a single target makes them stick to a surface for a short duration or if two targets pulls them together and makes them stuck.

A trap/tool that creates a surface when stepped on by the enemy makes them float in the air for a while uncontrollably, or if an ally it boosts their jumping mobility or walk up walks for a while.

A special magnetic glove for when we throw our sword we can literally have it return to us or us go to it. No idea how this could be useful but like lightsaber throw my dawg.

>>1007996
>>1007999
Or a dart round for our pistol that we shoot at someone/target it sticks to them and for a short duration our and ally bullets that hits that magnetic laser line/arc are attracted and curve to hit the target. Thanks for making this drawfriend. I'm personally in favor of using our own color scheme rather than the original Overwatch thing. I like the colors in this picture just not the shorts.

Block projectile was always meant to be a placeholder ability. It was going to be replaced by whatever you equipped in your left hand slot ... which turned out to be your Ultimate. So it will change in some way based on Shadowshot, I suppose. It will be a defensive or utility ability of some kind.

A localized wallhack? Hanzo's sonar arrow already accomplishes that.

>>1007996

The stun ability is interesting, but Junkrat's Steel Trap already can lock down an opponent like that so it's kinda redundant. The reverse of it is like Lucio's Boop alt-fire for his gun, though that might be an option we could pursue.

The blade toss also seems redundant since we already have a range weapon--unless it's something like a wide projectile. That and working out how it "controls" after leaving Seeker might be tricky.

How about this:
>Toss sword with E, it can embed in the ground or in a wall. Goes straight through opponents, deals damage
>When it's in LOS (and at a reasonably close range), press E again to recall sword. Any opponent that is inbetween sword and Seeker receives damage as it flies back. Recall is near instantaneous--sword impacts are hitscan to avoid cheese (i.e. blasting someone back farther after recall and the blade just travelling all the way back to Seeker and hitting even more opponents).

So basically it's a projectile going out, hitscan coming back. Recall can be done immediately after the sword is tossed and *hits* a wall or object--or is automatically returned after going past a certain distance and afterward cooldown begins.

The trap is an interesting one to pursue--but instead of halting an enemy entirely, what if it didn't cause any damaage, but docked enemy movement speed. Since it doesn't seem like we have a flashstep or anything like Tracer's Blink, it would allow us to close range to gank enemies with the sword. During brawls to contest points, it can be used to lock down singular opponents and put mobile Ult-using characters (Soldier 76, Genji, Bastion, Roadhog) at a significant disadvantange.

Unless of course, y'know, they're already smashing your team--in which case you've turned this Ult-user into an angry turret.

On the point.

The point which you are trying to cap.

And's it's Overtime.

And you're contesting.

Anyway--forgive the ramblings, I'm turning in for a couple hours.
>>
>>1008043
Nah nah, not like you shoot it at the ground or something and it's got a certain distance of effect, more like you stick it on an enemy, and you can see where they are for a while.
>>
>>1008049
Why don't we do something based off of Tracer's tech and Winstons shield tech, We chuck the device like a grenade.

Once detonated it creates a sphere (like Winston's shield but a different effect). While enemies are inside it their movement speed is significantly reduced and their own cool down timers are slowed down, where as we move through it nicely.

Pretty Much a Slow-mo Bubble.

Because I was thinking about our set up. Why not develop something to suit our name, Seeker. We track then eliminate/capture.

>Passive
>Seeker Rounds
Bullets cause enemies who take HP damage to have their positions revealed until they encounter any source of healing.

>Mouse 1
Shoot our Machine Pistol/Slash with our blade
>Mouse 2
Alternate weapon Modes Pistol/Blade

>Shift
>Nul/Grav RIG
Low Gravity movement and small speed boost for limited time

>E
>Repulsion Field
Brief channel that nullifies frontal damage for a very short amount of time.

>Q
>The Seeker's Trap
Seeker throws a grenade which can also stick to surfaces. It will detonate after 2 seconds. When it detonates a large Sphere Shaped AoE blast goes out and forms a bubble which lasts for 5 Seconds. Enemies within this bubble have their movement speed significantly reduced and their ability cool-downs slowed also. This also slows falling or jumping naturally alongside rates of fire.
Basically we find our prey, spring the trap and they are nigh helpless
>>
>>1008089
the slow mo bubble thing sounds good
but i dislike the ult. also the seeker round thing would be pretty cool.
if this was in game we would be pretty annoying though.

>>
>>1008089
While from a gameplay standpoint, it makes sense to limit our Loadout, I feel Seeker would constantly tinker with and change his gear up to maximize his effectiveness.

Also, I feel our "Passive" should be our enhanced movement suite. As soon as we get around to building our full armor, our graviton rig would give us a mobility and agility boost to allow us to pull off a ton of parkour moves and wallrun.

Here's a really shitty drawing of what I think our gun should look like.
>>
>>1007988
How about changing the bullet block so we can put it on other guys to attract bullets to them?
>>
>>1008229
Too OP
>>
>>1008241
But it is funny.
>>
>>1008089

Wait, are we going for Offensive Hero? Because, so far, we've only really got mobility down. Our gun is kinda underpowered, if I'm reading things right, but our sword cuts through armor and does a shitload of damage. Our Ult is, honestly, really underwhelming. Unless it allows us to yank people around or something.

I'd switch our abilities up a bit. Make our pistol an Energy Magnum or a Mass Driver that hits harder or make it some kind of rapidfire weapon. Our plasma sword is good as it is.

Our Passive should probably be our increased mobility which lets us pull off Brink parkour combat.

Our "Shift" should be a shield of some kind. A kinetically empowered shield that absorbs a certain amount of damage so long as we're moving.

I really like the idea of the saber throw for "E." The drawback of us being unarmed might be outweighed by the sheer amount of damage the sword would do.

Now that I think about it though, that makes a pretty good juxtaposition for our weapons. The pistol is a harassing weapon we use while moving around and our sword is used very quickly in close-combat. Because of our fragile nature we either HAVE to keep moving while shooting or take a risk and close in with our sword.

Reaper is going to hate us.

Anyways, for our Ult, I'm not a fan of the Seeker's Trap. I'd honestly rather stick with the Omnislash.
>>
>>1008279
Does this have to so deeply rooted in game mechanics?
>>
>>1008371
This, we can have more than just a few abilities. Though OP will stop us from getting everything or will make us choose load-outs.
>>
Id prefer we keep our Mouse1 as a basic attack and mouse2 as the mode switch like >>1008089 said

Really though, I'd prefer if our bullets/sword moved towards enemies, but not outright actively hunt them down. So if we missed the target a bit, the bullet and sword would alter trajectory.

Shift could be an anti-grav or magnet walk, letting us scale buildings.

Lets keep our electromagnetic shield

Maybe we have a split ult?
Swordmode is Omnislash, and gunmode is a seeking cluster of bullets that pierce metal terrain?
>>
>>1008371
>>1008373

Honestly, I'm inclined to agree with you guys. I'd rather not be limited by game mechanics either.

I'd still like to pick up gear and abilities that emphasize our Highly Mobile Striker nature though. Especially the Combat Parkour bit.
>>
I think to make this really a Overwatch quest where we could make an MC that could really be in the game, I like that we talk about abilities as if it's the Game Mechanics

And Raven has already said that we have a limited number of "Slots" which is basically the game anyway
>>
>>1008483
True, but it's abstracted as the amount of gear we can carry. We're also swapping our abilities around.
>>
>>1008537
we'll probably switch our gear around but only have a certain amount of slots. like turn the e into a bubble trap but being able to turn the sword shield back later
>>
>>1008432
We could attempt to pick up a few more useful abilities but I feel I should list all the discussed things thus far;

1) A Ana-style ability to fire a projectile into an enemy which gives us increased damage and the ability to see them through walls.

2) Boomerang sabre; does a ranged attack in the area between it being thrown out and being picked up. Potentially manoeuvrable in flight.

3) The ability to slow down one(+) targets, to allow us to close with them. Method debated at length; gravity field (aoe around seeker), magnetic trip wire or gravity trap (aoe or single target but placed).

Also some additional ideas for abilities would be;

1) The ability to create a "mimic" of ourselves which is projected from a turret or from us. To attract enemies fire / attention.

2) Ability to "hang" from walls or from a roof. Utility for ambushes is amazing.

>>1008537
>>1008599
It makes sense to limit us, or else we will become broken quickly but I think the limit will be size and weight rather than number. Not to mention cost; overwatch no longer has a planet backing it with funding.
>>
Just a thought, why not have an ability that acts sort of like a magnetic tether
When aimed at an enemy, we can pull ourselves into melee range, and when aimed at a wall and held, we can cling to that spot
>>
I just wanna be like Indiana Jones with a mix of Gravity Rush.
>>
>>1008761
That does sound like something we would use.
>>
>>1008834
Okay now I want us to upgrade our moon boots so they change the way gravity pulls us. Enabling us to run on the ceiling and walls like they were the floor.
>>

So like VVVVVV?
>>
>>1009574
I guess.

Unless you want to create a quantum-singularity gravitational distortion field generator that is miniaturized and man-portable that is also idiotproof and damageproof, sure. That is literally the only way to create what you wanted without rewriting the laws of physics.

Now if you stuck some electromagnets to the soles of the boot that adhere via molecular bonding with an amplifier generator that causes the electromagnet to adhere to surfaces with even the faintest trace of metallic elements (or if you're crazy and are using a singularity distortion reactor engine, adhere to all matter via covalent bonds) then that is a whole different story.

Also, pic related in the event of catastrophic failure when operating as part of a live test.
>>
Since we're talking about powers i was thinking our second active ability it should be a buff to both the sword and the gun depending on which form it is when we activate the ability, for gun form i was thinking a minor damage boost and gravity bullets that slow down whoever we hit.
I am still unsure what sword buff should do.

When the crashing stops and the dust settles, you have a look out the glass windows in the front door. The boxcars of a U.S. Army train lie scattered on the road like a knocked-over child's train set, among stone debris and pieces of the demolished bridge.

"Like I said'," says McCree. "Something big, dangerous, and soon. See any of my old chums out there?"

You watch as a group of shifty-looking black hats rounds the cliff down the road. They're riding mechanized horses, a conceit you never understood -- the New West is a strange place full of anachronisms. "A few of them," you say. You look back at the table, scowling. "I barely got a chance to eat my steak."

While we do swap our abilities around, I also enjoy having the freedom to do so because it forces us to really specialize what our character can and cannot do. While it's important not to become too specialized, it's also important not to become too much of a generalist--all the while maintaining abilities that are unique to our character and fit with their aesthetic and combat profile.

Hell, to really try to see how this character plays, I've tried to work out how a body playing as another hero would fight against Seeker. The two things that kept coming up are (1) shut down his close combat capability by keeping him at distance; and (2) brawling with a bigger brawler. I like that we have those disadvantages--allows for smarter play.

Most of the abilities we've thought of are ideal for flanking and dealing with isolated targets. We can't shut down a push as easily as Sombra and Tracer is arguably the better harasser, but the combination of mobility debuffs and vertical controllability allow us to control flanks and tight corridors with ease.

"Something tells me we best handle this ourselves," says McCree. "Ain't many lawmen in these parts. It'll be up to us to settle this, vigilante-style."

"We're with you," you say. "Tracer, can you head to that other door, flank them on the right? I'll back up Mr. McCree here at the front."

"It's just McCree, kid. Only person called me "mister" was my third grade teacher." The cowboy pulls his hefty Peacekeeper Magnum from his holster. "Let's show these half-wits the jig is up."

McCree pushes open the front doors and steps out. You stay a few steps behind him, ready to cover him. The three black hats -- Deadlock Rebels, presumably -- have already scrambled up onto the wreckage of the train and started to unload some kind of large grey oblong device onto a hover-sled.

McCree takes aim and fires, and the highest black hat topples from the train with a cry.

The other two dive for cover behind the sled, chased by further shots from the revolver. When McCree reloads, they pop their heads out and return fire with their own guns, but you step in and activate your mag shield, freezing the bullets in midair, then dropping them harmlessly to the ground.

Another two black hats ride out from beyond the far cliff on their strange robotic horses, but they eat a burst of blue plasma fire from the right. Tracer dodges their return fire with blinks, weaving in and out and between them in a blur of blue, until she's shredded them with her pistols.

McCree steps forward, pulls a flashbang from his belt. "'Scuse me," he says as he tosses it over the vehicle, stunning the third Rebel. McCree casually steps around the side and, fanning the hammer of his revolver rapidly with his robotic left hand, unloads six bullets into the stunned Rebel.

"That's ain't a train," says McCree. "Can't say I like the sound of it."

"Me neither," you say. "Let's stay here and take cover until we see what it is--"

A huge, steam-venting robot comes clanking from around the corner. Its topmost gears and vents strike the wooden bridge by the cliff and smash it to pieces. Its right arm is a huge machine gun that begins spinning up.

"Cover sounds like a good idea right about now," agrees McCree as the two of you hustle behind one of the crashed train cars. A rain of bullets begins to strike the other side of the car.

"Don't that beat all," says McCree. "What kind of contraption is that?"

"You tell me," you say. "Your old friends are the ones using it!"

"Never knew the Rebels to have that kind of hardware." McCree casually re-lights his cigar. "Wonder where they got this hunk of junk from?"

"Wherever it's from, we'd better deal with it before it gets too close and shreds us to pieces--"

You activate your commlink. "You thinking what I'm thinking?" you say to Tracer.

"You got it, mate," she replies.

"Ready when you are."

"Just what are you two cookin' up?" asks McCree.

"You'll see," you say, switching your weapon into gun form. "Should give you plenty of time to light that thing up."

At the sound of Tracer's pistols firing, you break cover and run to the side. You see Tracer dodging and weaving behind the robot, repeatedly delivering flurries of blue projectiles for her weapons. The robot vents steam, whistling like a train, and its entire torso rotates 180 degrees. The machine gun starts up again, trying to find Tracer through her evasions. You seize the moment and empty your gun into the robot's back and legs. McCree follows suit with some well-aimed revolver shots. One of the pipes on the robot's back bursts, and a rubber hose begins to flail around wildly, blasting steam.

The robot swivels again, this time towards you. Its left arm reaches up with a hook-like hand that fires out towards you on a cable. You narrowly dodge the clutching grapple, which falls to the ground. A set of gears in the robot's arm begin turning, and the hook starts to retract. "I don't think so," you say, transforming your weapon, and slash through the hook cable.

The robot spins up its machine gun again, but Tracer blinks in and delivers a point-blank barrage to the arm mechanisms. Bolts and pieces of scrap go flying, and the gun seizes.

You run forward, high-jump and grav-walk straight up the robot onto its shoulders. There you jam your sword into its neck and use it like a lever. The head pops off with far more force than you expected, and the hot steam vapor flying out from the robot's innards is scalding. Your environmental suit protects you from some, but not all it.

HP: 170/200

The robot's head goes flying into the sky, trailing steam. You jump off the badly damaged body collapses and falls into pieces.

You pick yourself up and brush yourself off. "Remind me to stay off your bad side," says McCree, coming to stand beside you. Tracer blinks in.

To Tracer:

It was mostly distrust from the public they were meant to protect and then with full blown investigation, riots, schism of command between Reyes and Morrison, and Blackwatch's reveal. Overwatch was soon shutdown by the people in combination with the destruction of it's head quarters from internal conflicts.

"High five!" you say to Tracer, raising your hand.

She fives you with enthusiasm. "Woohoo! Nice one, mate. I think that robot's head is still flying. You still in one piece?"

"Yeah, I got hit with some of that steam, but I'm all right."

"You're a right pair of rascals and no mistake," muses McCree. "That was some fine work, kid. Is that a sword that's also a gun? Must be mighty handy in a pinch."

"Yeah, it's saved my butt on a few occasions," you say. You look at the strange oblong device that the Deadlock Rebels were so desperate to get their hands on. "Any idea what this device is?"

"Not exactly," he says. "Some sort of top-secret weapon. Whatever it is, it's something we don't want them scumbag Rebels getting their hands on."

"And who are you to judge us?" asks someone else. You jump, not having heard them approach--
>>
Question
Do we ever just want to "upgrade" our pistol into maybe a different kind of gun?
An SMG, or such?
>>
>>1010907
Some anons here have thrown around the idea of changing it to a more powerful, but slower, magnum version. I don't think changing it to an automatic platform would do us much good in terms of character. We'd be strikingly similar to Tracer at that point and we have enough of that going on.

"Old Bill," says McCree. "Had a feelin' you might show yourself. Looks like you've gone and upgraded since last we met."

"You shouldn't have come back, Jesse," says the tall, gaunt old man. His huge cybernetic arm clanking as it shifts position. "You'll hurt his feelings."

"Afraid I don't care that much for James's "feelings" these days, Bill. I'm quits with him and the whole gang, you know that. I only came back to stop you from doing ..." he waves at the device. "Whatever this is! Stealin' some kind of super weapon from the army? Some big damn combat robot? What in tarnation is this about, Bill? Plannin' to turn from thieves to terrorists? Or are you working for someone?"

"That doesn't matter to a dead man," the old man replies. "You owe too much to the past, McCree. You have to pay."

"Fine. Then we'll settle this."

Tracer says, "McCree, let's--"

"Stay out of this, Lena. This don't concern you. It's between me and him."

"You can't seriously want to draw with him? Look at the size of that gun!"

"I've got to do this my way," he says. "After all ... it's high noon somewhere in the world."

McCree and Old Bill start to move to opposite ends of the street in front of Big Earl's, intending to draw.

I'd like to see something that hyper accelerates bullets we use after the first one. That way we shoot faster and faster.

Anither Idea would be to sort of "tag" an enemy with a laser-sight register, so that anything that's been pointed at for a certain amount of time is designated as the bullets' target, and makes them seeker balistics.

Also, I bow to the superior artist, that's suoer detailed and awesome!

"All right, McCree. Do what you have to do."

Tracer turns to you. "But--!"

"He'll be fine," you say. "I can see him winning, can't you? Besides," you add, and say this last part quietly. "We should keep an eye out for anyone else, in case they try something."

That last part seems to convince her.
McCree and Old Bill reach their positions at either end of the street, Big Earl's 24-Hour Gas behind them. They turn to face each other.
It's an ancient tale, brought to life here in the strange world of the New West. Two men facing each other down the length of a street, guns at their side, the sun beating down on them from a bright blue sky. No rules, no backup. No second chances. Only the quick and the dead.

A hawk screeches, somewhere far overhead. The tension builds in the air. You see McCree's fingers twitch. Then--

Blam! BLAM!

For a moment, nothing stirs except the lazy curl of gunsmoke. The two fighters stand perfectly still, their guns extended. Then Old Bill sinks to his knees, falls to the ground. McCree holsters his gun, shifts the cigar from one side of his mouth to the other. "Ain't my time just yet," he says.

Tracer blinks to McCree's side. "You did it! I-- omigosh, you're hurt!"

You see blood dripping down McCree's mechanical hand. "This?" he says, unperturbed. "Ain't nothing. I mean--" He tries to move that arm, winces. "Actually, maybe it is something. Guess I ought to see a doctor."

"We happen to have an excellent one on staff at the base," you say. "Also, we should probably get this weapon somewhere secure until we can contact the U.S. army to return it."

Tracer says, "Couldn't we just give it back straightaway?"

"Those guys had the exact timetable for the train," you say. "That means they probably had an inside man. We'll have to make sure it doesn't go right back into his hands."

"Guess you're right," says Tracer. "What do you see, McCree? Come back to the base with us? You can at least let Angie patch you up while you think our offer over."

McCree thinks it over. "Hell with it. I don't think that will be necessary, missy. The thinking it over part, I mean. Doin' all this, stopping the robbery here. I guess it reminded me of why we did what we did."

The Aurora rises up above the Arizona desert and begins the journey east. Tracer handles the controls while you sit in the back with McCree, helping him with some basic first aid. The biotics do most of the work, you just need to have two working arms for some of it.

"Thanks for lettin' me handle that back there," he says. "That might sound a little silly, considerin' I got shot on account of it."

"No, I get it. Sometimes a man's got to do what a man's got to do."

"'Specially when it comes to his past," says McCree. "I tried to bury mine, but it has a habit of reachin' up and tryin' to drag me down into the grave with it." He looks out the window at the desert, growing farther away as the plane ascends. "Maybe I'll come back again someday. Put an end to it all. But not today. Not for a while. If there's a world that needs savin', it's on me to do what I can."

"Glad to have you on board," you say.

The Aurora streaks off into the bright blue sky.
>>
>>1011007
I think they understand how important the story mode is to something like this. I can't see them devoting a majority of dev-time to the multiplayer portions of the game. Anything could happen at this point, but I'm still optimistic.

I'm disappointed they're calling it Red Dead Redemption 2. The first one was Red Dead Revolver, so why didn't they continue the theme to something like Red Dead Revolution or something?
>>
So for getting our next recruit I think we should split up; having Tracer, Mercy, and Reinhardt getting Torbjorn while Seeker McCree, and Bastion getting Hanzo?
>>
>>1011173
I don't think Bastion is ready for field work yet.
>>
>>1011173
Depends on what our options are really. Torb is definitely a good idea, if only for having his engineering expertise at hand. But, talking him into it might be challenging, especially with Bastion on the team. Genji would also be a good pickup, or Zarya or Zenyatta if either of them are available. And the Aussie duo would be nice to grab if challenging to do so given it's a twofer and Junkrat is a demolitions expert and Roadhog is tough as nails and his hook combo is guaranteed death to all but a few.
>>
>>1011190
Motherfucker we're getting d.va. also don't junkrat and roadhog have an extreme hate for omnics, one of which is our ai?
>>
>>1011190
>>1011198

I really don't see us recruiting the Junkers. However, I don't see them working for Talon either.

Honestly, I don't really want to pull Torbjorn away from his family. let's try and get Genji next.
>>
>>1011198
The hate omnics, but not really any more than Torb does. And not as much as they love getting paid to do what they do. The even almost went legit until the suit set them up. And D.Va kinda serves the same purpose as Reinhardt as a tank. I think Zarya would be a better pickup first since her kit compliments our existing team better.
>>
>>1011201
Honestly? I just don't want to be on the wrong end of Roadhog. That's never a good place to be.
>>
>>1011190
Well we managed to get Reinhardt to come despite having Bastion so who know's.
>>1011201
Yea i figure if people from his original team would not be able to convince him then we would not been able to get him even if we were in person; as for the Junkers i can see using them as mercs when we need them or someone to sell our salvage too.
>>
Honestly, i don't even think we should attempt to convince torbjorn to join if he says no right off the bat
He's already got a pretty nice life, i wouldn't blame him if he didn't wanna leave it behind

So from what I know about the hero's I think this is how our over-watch is gonna turn out.
Probably going to join as soon as we ask them
-Winston (started the whole thing)
-Tracer (jumped at the chance)
-Seeker (jumped at the chance)
-Reinhardt (had to do something first
-Bastion (He's a nice robot that wants friends)
-Mcree (had to do something first)
-Mei (may have to do something first, but might join immediately and do something after)
-Genji (have to do something first)
-Pharah (have to do something first)
-Torbjorn (may have to do something first, but might join immediately and do something after)
-Lucio (Have to do something first)
-D.va (Have to do something first)
-Ana (may have to do something first, but might join immediately and do something after

Might not be so easy
-Zenyatta (may have to convince)
-Soldier 76 (will have to convince)
-Hanzo (may have to convince)
-Mercy (she only joined us because Widowmaker was their)

Probably not going to join us but might
-Symmetra (Wants to help make the world better. Is sometimes not sure that working for vishkar is the right thing. Criticizes freedom and hates chaos)
-Zarya (might join if we help save Russia)
-Sombra (might join for teh lols)
Arch Nemesis tier who will only join us if they have a major change of heart
-Reaper (was secretly infiltrating talon/ finds out he was played against his friends)
-Widowmaker (finally succumbs to the lingering guilt and sorrow of what she has done and joins for redemption)
Not going to join us because they are insane. unless its some wacky teamup thing
-Junkrat (wants to see the world burn)
-Roadhog (sociopath)

Overwatch needs more villain characters.

Something D&B for when we're flinging ourself all over the place with gravity.
>>
>>1012838
Canned Heat - Jamiroquai
>>
>>1012838
This gives me an idea. We begin thinking of more complex ways to get D.Va to play Rules of Nature on stream/in her mech.
>>
>>1012849
Anything specific? Also, how about some Carpenter Brut?
>>
>>1012866
Maybe something Knife Party, like Bonfire or Give it Up?

Oh, and non-D&B, Pigeon John, The Bomb would be good.

I'm afraid I don't know what Carpenter Brut is.
>>
>>1012764
>>1012772
My older sister used to do that so she could play Major's Mask without me interrupting her every other minute. Mom thought I was allergic to kimchi and gochujang and had to learn how to cook without either. Older sister finally told me after she got plastered at a cousin's wedding a year ago and I'm planning my revenge.

5:Bondfire - Knife Party
6:The Bomb - Pidgeon John

On the subject of waifus, Invite for whoever makes the most sense from a story perspective.

It could be that Seeker and Tracer's bromance develops into a romance. Maybe bullying D.VA results in an escalating prank war that ends with the two of them passionately making out. Or maybe Seeker is grievously injured and forced to remain under Mercy's care for an extended period where they get to really know each other. Or maybe Seeker talks a lot of shop with Brigitte and helps her repair Reinhardt's armor and they develop a mutual attraction along the way. Lots of possibilities.

Personally, I'd be all over MCxD.Va, but I seem to be a minority.

Well of course there's a lot of possibilities--we are only on the fourth thread after all. And it's just the rarepairs and the crackships that are the most delicious of them all.

Seeker/Mei for 2017 longest longshot rarepair of the quest
>>
>>1013408
I'm liking Mercy myself, though I hold out for a potential chance at Mei.

Side note, I hate these waifu talks though. Especially when the quest is still this young. It just seems to early for this and is just a way to make rifts in the followers of quests.

It brings conversation and waifuing attracts people. But it can spiral out of control with people getting mad that they're waifu isn't chosen. On the bright side, most of the girls in the game are 10/10 waifus so almost everyone can agree on a choice.

Once I get a better idea of what anons want/examples ill do a better one

Could try for a faceplate that flips since a treasure hunter would much rather see an artifact with their own eyes instead of a HUD.
>>
>>1013996
Alternatively, cybernetic eyes.

So, did we ever decide on what our family was like? I know that one of our parents was a politician behind the push for Overwatch being disbanded. My proposal:

>Mom: Canadian Member of Parliament. Might be pushing to run for Prime Minister soon. Was one of the politicians who helped disband Overwatch. Ruthless, pragmatic, etc.

>Older Sister: High Powered Corporate Attorney. Takes after mom a lot but still has a soft spot for us.

>Dad: Died when we were a kid. Mom doesn't talk about him.
>>
>>1014077
I thought the whole politican thing in general was only a proposal too. As having Overwatch toys and an anti-overwatch mom isn't something that's compatible if your parents are the ones buying the toys when you are that young.
>>
>>1014079
Who says Mom bought the toys? It could have been our Dad. Maybe they divorced
>>
>>1014081
You just said dad died when we were a kid. Mom wouldn't buy toys after that and any remaining are at serious risk to get trashed, especially if Mom's an ass and/or mom and dad were on bad terms.
>>
>>1014077
How bout we make the Dad as an archeologist the one we got our passion for ruin exploring from. He's the one who taught us about justice and compassion while mom is the one who taught us about pragmatism and necessity. Our parents are divorced but both are still alive and kicking
>>
>>1014087
Maybe his dad bought them before he died [spoilers] only to return sometime later in the story totally not dead in some crazy plot twist [/spoilers]

He could've kept the figs hidden from his mom, only playing with them when she wasn't home, which I'd imagine is often since a politician is probably really busy.
Maybe one of the reasons why our guy is so enamored with Overwatch is because his dad would tell him plenty of stories about Overwatch and instilling that sense of heroic justice and righteousness in him. Maybe this parents divorced due to them having disagreeing stances on Overwatch and other things.

[spoilers] Maybe his dad told him stories of Overwatch when he was little because his dad was a secret member of the group, doing covert missions and whatnot. Maybe, building upon the idea of his mom being one of the politicians who helped disband Overwatch, did it because she found out her husband was a member of Overwatch, and blames them for his death and wanted them to pay. Except maybe he's not really dead, he's still out there somewhere doing cool dad things. [/spoilers]

Just some ideas.
>>
>>1014087
He could have given us the figures before he died.

Also, I like where >>1014088
>>1014090 Are going. I like our Dad being an Archaeologist, although him being part of Overwatch is a bit much. If he's dead, he should stay dead. Otherwise, he's alive but working as a Professor or something.

Clearly, our family shouldn't know about is being an Internationally Wanted Criminal.

>tfw waifuing zarya is going to be difficult

I just want my muscle waifu. Lets hope she can cook a mean borsch

>"Wait, I know a little Russian. Ahem, CHEEKY BREEKY."
>And then Zarya broke Seeker over her knee.
>>
>>1014120
That is going brokeback batman.

In other news, i like to make a team combo name

>tracer and seeker
The homing missile.

They can outrun and outgunned you. High damage when their ult is up. Efficient on 1 target
>>
>>1014108
Personally I want dad to be alive since dead dad is a cliche
>>
>>1014147
How about we have two dads
>>
>>1014147
But Dad secretly being alive is even more of a cliche.
>>
>>1014158
I'm suggesting that Dad is openly alive
>>
>>1014200
That's acceptable. He could be a Professor or something.
>>
>>1014128
>tracer and seeker
>Homing Missile

Are you sure it's not the ship name that you've just thought of, Anon?
>>
>>1014266
Why not both?
>>
>>1014108
Of course they should.

The whole point was to rebel against their kind of corporate thinking.

It's not much of a protest if they don't know we're doing it.
>>
>>1014697
Calling it a protest trivializes our actions.
>>
Why do we need such dramatic origins? Isn't it enough that we split off from the standard way of earning our money and living our life working as a corporate employee, and became the scifi Indiana Jones person we play?

We don't need to have the Peter Parker curse or anything, and it's obnoxiously overdone to have such backgrounds.

You'd think we were making a new batman universe, rather than making a rookie character recruited into Overwatch.
>>
>>1014798
Not really.

People have devoted their entire lives for less.
>>
>>1014951
We're bored while we wait for Raven to come back. This is what some people do when they're bored.
>>
How about for our Origins both mum and dad died in the Crisis or something and we ended up in a mass orphanage along with a whole bunch of other orphans with only a few of our toys and maybe a single item to remember our parents?

While there we fell under the wing of one of the older kids who taught us how to make mischief and have fun still, a big brother figure, who one day too vanished. Now without his guidance or maybe because of it our adventurers path slowly, slowly turned darker until finally we ended up in the gang we were in in part 1
>>
>>1015039
We didn't end up in a gang. We worked with them to take out a corrupt megacorp. Also this is edgy
>>
