>In the previous thread:
After setting up a deadly trap for the necromorphs and learning more about the cultist attack on the station our protagonist returned to find almost every survivor had been killed, which led to a fight against the Cultist Leader. Now the group finds itself is resting at the medical area of the station.

>And now we resume our story...
Heinlein Station, 2511, Sector 07 – Medical Facilities

"Let me mess with the reactor in Engineering" he pauses and lets everyone ponder his proposal "There'll be nothing left of this place, I'll stay and make sure of it"
The rest of the group starts arguing and trying to convince him not to waste his life.
This is inaceptable to you as well. Raising your hand to stop him or the others from saying anything more you begin speaking.
"Ladies, it's my idea and I know how to arm Big Phill. So its simple, I'll set it up, plot the course and run like hell."
The others, specially Carla seem horrified. Except Julius, he remains calm while shaking his head.
"Won't work. The bomb itself won't destabilize it. You need to make it meltdown"
"Sure, but I have the best armor to survive on the off chance something bad happens, you all could just pick me up after I jump out of an airlock or something"
"Have you ever worked on a reactor before?" well you can't really argue against that.
"Yeah but do you need to die to make it work, granpa?" interrupts Gomez. Nice move.
"I don't. You need to understand, everything about my life is gone. I worked here most of my life, and it's destroyed.
My family is now gone. And I don't want to spend the rest of my retirement stuck with these goddamn monsters."
"Julius, come on..." there is a brief silence as everyone considers the implications of living as things are right now.
"This isn't what you really want. If you die here your nephew would have died for nothing, you're the only one who can get him justice"
The others nod and go along with your message, probably sensing right now you've got the best odds of convincing him.

"I promise you once we are ALL off this station we will make every uni-basterd we find pay for what happened here"
The old man looks at you for a moment, a tiny spark of anger in his eyes that suddenly vanishes.
"Revenge is a game for young people, I'm just... tired now"
You can't say you don't understand how he feels. Even though you're half his age you used to feel tired.
There's a lot that seems missing, but you do remember that. Being completely out of gas, wasting yourself on meaningless tasks.
It's time to pull out the big guns, even if it risks a bit of your image or whatever. Not like they don't know you're insane.
"Before this all happened I wanted to kill myself" this is a bit of a surprise for some of your companions, as two of them already knew.
"Then this hell happened. And I didn't anymore. Not because of the absolute horrible carnage" a white lie, that was at least half the reason there.
"But because things got better, I met someone I liked, I made friends I could trust, I even survived something horrible and saw a Polar Bear!"
If he's not entirely convinced then he's at least second guessing himself at that.
"I can set the place to meltdown after we leave..."
"That's what I like to hear!"
-
Things have settled a bit after the 'deep talk' moment of earlier. Some of your companions, Doc and Gomez, are resting while they wait for a mission.
Others, such as Sarge and Julius, seem to be trying to find something to keep their minds off things,
in their case reading a book and messing with hospital equipment respectively.
Carla's just sitting next to you as you both observe the others.
>Talk or do something here before going [what?]

The other can set it to rig from space apprently.
>>
>>1022829
Not from space, timed meltdown. He'd still need to go there first.
>>
>>1022834
Oh well uh.. fuck, lets get everybody else too a CLEARED ship, then walk him tok the stations reactor?
>>
"Alright guys" the team turns to you "we'll start packing up and head to the hangar, get ourselves a ride home"
"Sounds like a plan to me" says Gomez as he gets up, his leg is still injured so it takes a bit of effort not to lean too heavily on it.
Soon the rest of the group is following you out the medical area's entrance and heading to the tram station.
-
The hangar looks much like you left it, all the ships still in place and not a single necro in sight.
You and the group look around for any suitable vessels. There are two ships unlocked by the previous assault.
There's also the unitologist ship, which unlike what the cultist said is still sitting there, completely lifeless.
Although you dread what could be in it as it was part of the twisted plans of the cultist leader, it might be good to check it's insides.
It might be a good idea to go for a smaller vessel, like a shuttle, rather than take a big one for just a couple of people.

Size does matter, so you opt for the bigger ship. It's about used for transporting cargo, but upon entering you're pretty sure it's empty.
You don't want to take long in here as the cultist vessel is still out there waiting for you to go investigate it,
thus you make the inspecting as quickly as possible. Still, with your detective visor you easily find the chemical traces that lead you to a bomb.
Makes sense the cultist leader would try to put in some insurance in these ships in case his plan went bad.
Julius makes quick work of the bomb, while the others go look around their new installations.
The ship isn't anything special but it seems sturdy. It'll do the trick. You tell the others that you'll go check something on the outside and they nod.
Back on the hangar you see the cultist flagship. Pretty big, and strangely threatening, as if a ship could be threatening.
It doesn't look that different from others other than it's identification and some religious iconography.
You decide it's time step inside and take a look around.
-
The place is disgusting. It's filled with that pink crap, even up to the airlock,
and you're pretty sure that you can hear something unnatural on the background of your thoughts.
Do you want to go in and see what's in here? Or maybe it's best to just blow it up and be done with it.
Something makes you want to continue, even if just for the pure thrill you've been having these past few days.
Maybe if you find a way to turn the ship on you could throw it onto the sun to make sure it's a goner.

You decide to continue into the belly of the beast.
Quite literally, as the walls are covered in necromorph tissue that pulsates making the hallway look like a giant esophagus.
The same rotten smell as before invades your nostrils, as you make your way in.
Initially the place looks deserted but you soon find that to be wrong, as knife-like tentacle bashes against your face.
It's really nice that you've got that reactive armor up because that would've been a nasty cut if it got through.
Thankfully the tentacle got thrown away from the reactive armor, even if you think it dented it.
You get out your revolver and take aim at the monster, firing enough rounds to make sure it's dead.
Looking further into the corridor you see more of these immobile guardians.

Copying your own method of killing the guardian from the recycling area you begin ripping them from the walls.
Problem is? There is too many on both sides and to top it off you can hear something approaching.
You try to speed it up but the effort ends with you getting your limbs wrapped on the beasts' tentacles.
With a push you manage to get your right arm free, but they keep coming and trying to hold you down.
On the end of this entrance hallway you see it, a group of two slashers. They spot you and start making their way in.

You manage to wrench yourself free for long enough to grab your rifle and barrage the Slashers.
One of them falls on the ground as your shots destroy cut away an arm and a leg.
The other one gets grazed by a shot but keep coming, so you become a bit more aggressive.
Getting your other hand free you draw the revolver and use it's powerful slugs to turn the necro's legs to mush, followed by its head.
More slashers come in, damn you're going to need to rethink this, specially with the tentacles attempting to wrap you again.
Aiming your guns to the opposite guardians to their respective arms you begin firing until they stop holding you down.
You take time to reload the revolver again, while the slashers approach. When they're close enough you launch yet another barrage.
This time they're all easily cut down, as you can aim without trying to avoid being wrapped in goey necro appendages.

"Hey, team, guess who's inside the cultist ship?" you send in a comm message to all the others.
"You what!?" Carla seems a bit distressed by the information. "You told us you were going to check the hangar!"
"Yeah, and the ship is in the hangar. Look, do you guys want to come with me or something?"
"Me and Carla will be right there, Gomez, Doc and Julius will watch over each other." the sarge interrupts.
"Sure, try and be fast will you?" you turn off the comms and look ahead.
By the shadows moving closer there are more necros around, and if the amount of pink-matter is any indication there are – a lot – of them.
You start making your way before stopping to consider the situation. The team is coming so you could wait for them here, while holding down the hallway.
Alternatively you could just rush further ahead and clean the path.
Either option has their advantages and disadvantages.

It's a bit hard to take down these guardians when there's so many grabbing at you at once.
After a few shots and punches you manage to get back to the entryway of the ship.
It's better to wait here than to try to go in again. Now that you think about it, you could really use one of those drones.
Still since they were blasted to bits, something you should see to that it is corrected, the best you can get is the flamethrower from Doc.
One message later and Carla replies that they'll take it with 'em.
You'd sit around but you're sure this pink goo-flesh would give you ass cancer or something.
Instead you just stand, making sure to take a few steps now and then so that weird corruption doesn't turn your feet into roots.
It's rather dull just waiting inside some meaty hallway like you're about to be digested but there's a line to go through.
A minute later your thoughts race to more pleasant pink things as you see Carla entering the Hallway.
She runs to you, Sarge following close. "Why did you just run off here Phil? You -",
as she approaches you take the opportunity to slap her suit-covered ass. Nothing makes someone quit talking better than that.
"You're just being you again" you can't see the eye roll but you're sure there's one.
"Even vomit-smelling meat-ships don't hamper the urges of a man who found his will to live again"
"Uh huh. You can tap that later, now let's go search through this ship before I vomit"
"- as a group, please don't run off again Phil" interrupts Sarge.
"Sarge, you know me, where there is danger and possible death there I'll go."
"I've noticed the trend" with allies it becomes easy to take down the guardians, as each of you can provide support and avoid the others from being trapped.
The group continues heading through the hallway. Eventually you reach a bigger room, still flesh-covered. It looks like some kind of access to other levels.

1. How many ships are we jacking, we can set ourselves up pretty good, if we all each take one with us. It will also help in being able to go in more directions and splitting up for whatever reasons in the future if we must.

You know, I'm surprised dead space doesn't seem to have any cybernetic necromorphs. With all the nutjobs and cultists present, you'd think some of them would try to either augment some necromorphs, or attach cybernetics to a subject before turning them.
Maybe cybernetics is against unitologist beliefs in some way.
>>
The bridge reminds you a bit of the command center of the station, except much smaller.
It's got a bigger area that resembles a podium, except in this case with more a religious symbolism to it.
As if that cultist maniac had any authority to look over anyone, goddamn whackjob.
More important than understanding the layout of the room however become the absurd amounts of necromorphs in this room.
There's dozens of slashers and leapers just standing around, along with guardians, lurkers, pregnants.
Even worse, there's types you don't recognize, and the walls on this place have bright bulbous yellow sacks, with large tendrils as thick as a man coming out of their sides.
Some of the necros seem to be hibernating in the pink mass of flesh, while others just idle around.
What in hell happened to this place? You don't really have a lot of time to think as the necros start to notice your presence.
Hell even the walls start reacting, as if the ship itself had an idea you were in it.

Marker signal is possible, but I don't know if it's been shown to interfere with technology all that much, it just being a really weird electromagnetic signal and all.

Maybe it's due to the tech available to the cultists? Organic prosthetics are by far the most popular method to replace parts after all. And I don't know if augmentation is practiced or not - I think they rely on rigs to augment abilities instead of using riskier surgical grafts.

Sarge goes for the panel and mashes it to get you home.
Unluckily, he clicked the wrong button, and it sends you down to the cargo hold which is a longer ride.
While fighting the necros in such close range your squadmates get a few injuries, though hopefully they seem to handle them better than you.
In such close quarters you're spending so much time avoiding blowing up everyone with your reactive armor that it's hard to fight.
Eventually you settle on the cargo's floor and kick the monsters out through the door.
There is a weird glow coming from behind them, in this empty cargo hold.
Or rather, almost empty. The glow you saw comes from...
God, we need to get the fuck outta here.
-
Out of the ship you've finally connected the dots of their entire plan.
Even if you don't know this ship's destination you're sure that the result would be catastrophic.
Your team mates are doing fine despite the scuffle causing some hurt for them.
Still, they seem to realize just what they were seeing there, as out of their helmets their faces are filled with horror.

You spend the next few hours with your groups scouring the entire station for anything useful.
At the end you make a checklist of everything you've taken:
enough food and water to last the group half a year and that's without rationing,
a lot of books which got in through popular demand, some datapads and miscellaneous parts and bits,
a good cache of ammo that you got from the armoury, more medical supplies from the med-bay along with some equipment to give Doc medical room,
as much public intel on the unitologists as you could find along with anything else not-so-public Clara got,
extra stasis packs, and finally a couple of spare security RIGs just in case.
Everything is loaded onto the ship and you figure your next steps is to set the station to blow...

Carla wasn't a virgin was she?
>>
You first take a quick detour back to the command center.
Carla hacks into the P.A. and sends a message to any possible survivors. You doubt anyone would come.
For a moment you consider helping the biggest survivor aboard, the polar bear, but you figure having a bear on board would get violent pretty fast.
Instead you took the opportunity to collect your belongings and own personal file from the Security HQ.
-
Setting the reactor to meltdown was easy, Julius said he could do it on his sleep.
Still, he lingered there for longer than you'd wanted. You could feel a big part of him wanted to just sit there in the place her worked for so long.
A tired man who wanted to be washed away with the past. Yet he chose to leave with the rest of you.
Before leaving you made sure to check on the cultist leader. Dead, as before.
You take off his modified stasis module, and look in his personal belongings for any worthwhile information.
Not much, just some weird kind of key card. That's kind of outdated but you take it anyway.
-
There's just 10 minutes for the station to become dust. No survivors showed up yet. It's a shame, thousands lived here.
And they died for what? Sure you enjoyed yourself, but it's still a crime to slaughter so many in the name of some stupid space zombie cult.
The crew is reunited at your ship's bridge.
"So what will we name her?" Gomez pipes up.
"Good question, Phil?"
"Huh. I hadn't thought about that, what is the current name?"
"The Flamingo"
"Right, damn. We should name it..."
>What do you name the ship?
"That's... That's just like you isn't it Phil"
"Yep"
You stay in silence for a bit, before Julius sets the ship in motion. There's just about eight minutes for the meltdown and subsequent explosion.

Damn, you almost forgot! "Everyone, be right back, I forgot I have something to do!"
You run off the room heading out of your ship's bridge.
The others look to each other and shrug. "Toilet break maybe?"
-
A minute later one of the crew looks at an external sensor detecting some object near the ship's hull.
"Hey guys check this out, wonder what this is. Another fucking monster?"
"One moment, I'll spin the ship so we can look at it" says Julius.
As the frontal view shifts a man floating towards the station can be seen.
-
Your comms start flaring with a message from the ship. Your entire group is screaming at you to come back.
Oh well, you're not insane or anything you just figured you forgot a ship. Cancelling the calls you continue on your way.
Five minutes remaining, but you reach the hangar. Four minutes remaining, but you got to the shuttle.
Three minutes remaining but you're approaching the ship. Two minutes remaining, and your crew opens the cargo door so you can fit the shuttle in.

The ship is moving away from the station fast, in a few seconds it should be clear.
You're lucky that you managed to do everything so fast, although barely.
Carla looks at you teary eyed, her face flushed, her hands a bit shakey.
Gomez, Doc, Sarge and Julius all look like they just saw someone die.
"So" maybe you can cheer them up with a joke. "What's the best type of dead zombie?"
"Phil, I thought..." her voice draws out. What – did – they think?
"We thought you were killing yourself" Oh. Right. Maybe you should've said something.
Then again you really didn't have a lot of time. The old engineer gets up from the pilot's seat,
moving closer to the window as the explosion appears in the horizon.
The others turn to face it. It's a big ball of light bigger than the station itself, followed by pure nothingness.
You're pretty sure that was the end of Heinlein Station.
"Well, I'm back. I just wanted to get a shuttle"
"We know. We know that's all but we can't really get what goes through your head sometimes"
Sarge moves past you and heads to the crew quarters. Doc heads toward the cargo hold.
Gomez and Julius just sit back on the pilot chairs and look at the view.
While all of them are taking their places Carla is by you, she's looking calmer already.
She wipes away the tears and breathes deeply.
"I just can't keep up with the ideas that come up to you. Running into the cultist ship alone,
without telling anyone? Jumping off to grab a shuttle?"
The woman comes closer and puts a hand one each side of your face.
"Just try not to get hurt. Please." she looks to your forehead, weirded out, then focuses back on your face and plants a kiss on your lips.
You stand there as she leaves the bridge. Damn women are crazy.
-
An hour later after taking stock of everything on the ship you report back on the bridge.
"Julius, what's the status on the Chosen Few? And did you see anything left from the station."
"Everything is fine, and the station is good as gone. Just... dust. Find anything suspicious while checking the rooms?"
"Nah. Well I did find someone's korean music stash but other than that, nothing" the old man nods.
"What's our next destination then, Cap'n?" asks Gomez in a mocking tone.

>Is running as many days a week as now too often or good enough?

>Are the running times adequate in your view?

>>1025252
>Should the QM take longer and try to write better/bigger updates or leave it as it is?
The majority of the updates are awesome some like >>1023940 could stand to be more descriptive.
>Should the QM implement the stat system he had scrapped before the quest's start?
That is entirely up to you
>Is running as many days a week as now too often or good enough? Schedule seems fine to me, but i only work 6 hour days
>Are the running times adequate in your view?
Irrelevant when the thread stays up for a week and you usually come back at least once a day
>What's the weakest spot of the quest?
A combination of pacing and descriptions As i am genuinely not sure if you wanted phil and company to get off the station so quickly.
>What would you like to see more/less of?
More slice of deadspace, it really makes the gruesome violence, and adventure itself stand out more when it is tempered with downtime.

>Should the QM take longer and try to write better/bigger updates or leave it as it is?
Post should be appropriate to the action/story. Some can be sweet and short, others could be a longer. Just no WALL OF TEXT

>Should the QM implement the stat system he had scrapped before the quest's start?
I don't even remember it. Keep it simple, but we'd want to be stronger and feel stronger when we do stuff, or fight others.

>Is running as many days a week as now too often or good enough?
I tend to miss the start of every thread/session, but its nice to have a quest going on regularly. It should work for you since most of the work is on you.

>Are the running times adequate in your view?
See above, Its frequent. Not really complaining.

>What's the weakest spot of the quest?
THE GODDAM ROLLS!

Maybe when we commit to an action, it doesn't necessarily need to be broken down into smaller actions and choices, at least for things that aren't important enough and it can be covered in a single post. Unless we roll a 1 and "SHTF, we need to do something quick or die!"

>What would you like to see more/less of?
Better gears and guns, but that is more of a fault with the DS weapons I suppose. Maybe since we have a engineer, we can start making spear guns or something.

I'd also like to see a more deeper sense of immersion into the quest, we know the dead space setting, but the setting of this quest feels like we are simply on the surface level. Maybe I'm trying to ask for more details and descriptions with pictures to help set the scene if its not too much to ask.

"We could go towards the nearest civilization or friendly ship. Confirm if the cultists managed to send anything to infest them or not", on that you go rummage through the stuff you've brought along.
"That's a good plan. We're close to our own Solar System , we could go straight to Earth or make a stop first", you nod and he starts setting the course for Sol.
"When we get to the system just hit me up and we'll all talk about what to do next" It won't be a long trip, shock point drive and all, but you're in the mood to relax so you pop in a pill that Reed first gave you.
Deciding to speed your 'recovery' up you pop in another pill, this one from the second batch. To finish it off you down it with a sip from a hot bottle of beer.
"Yummy" Julius and Gomez turn to you. You can see the old man's gaze fall on the beer, but it's best to just not say anything. Hopefully he won't get tempted.
Deciding it's time to go somewhere where you can safely crash you bid the bridge crew farewell with a short 'I'll go lie down now'.
-
Oh no there's something pinning you down! You struggle to free yourself, your eyes shoot open and your legs spring you out of bed.
Carla rolls to the other side of bed and starts laughing. "I was going to give you a good morning kiss, did you think it was a necro?"
"It could've been a... some ubermorph or something! That scared the crap outta me" her lips contort into a devious smirk.
"So you're a afraid of being attack in your sleep huh?" oh she's getting any ideas, you got to cut that in the root.
"Very funny for someone who was desperate about me doing crazy crap, don't gaslight me with pranks or I'll - really - go nut"
She crosses her arms, her eyes defiant of the 'challenge' you just issued. "I'm going to make you nut alright"
You hear someone laughing from the corridor, likely having heard the awkward comment. Goddamnit is there no privacy in this place?
-
An hour later you go up to the bridge, Carla in tow. Sarge is already there messing with his Pulse Rifle, while Gomez and Julius debate some ancient sport about hitting balls with bats.
You take a seat next to the pilots and stare out the window. Humanity's home is in sight, with Sol at the center. Shining even brighter than you remember.
Carla sits next to you and stares out into the void "Did we pick where we'll be going yet?" you turn to her, thinking of how to best answer that,
but before you can do that Doc comes into the bridge. He locks eyes with you and approaches. "Phil, remember that the term 'necromorph' came from some medical report?
It was leaked from Titan Station. Reed had it and it was apparently not something to be shared" the others turn to him, confused at the sudden topic.
"Why tell us that now?" he looks out the window "We're in Sol aren't we? I came by earlier and Julius said we were standing around on the edge of the solar system."

>>
>>1026608
"So you want to go check the station and see if we can find the guy who first made the report?" he shakes his head "I want to find the patient the report is about"
You nod at him, but before you can proclaim your new course Gomez interrupts you. He pleads that you take your group to Terra instead, to rest and to look for his family, specially his sister.
It's not a great idea but you can see why he'd be worried. Sarge on the other hand proposes that you head to Luna where he has some contacts that can help you.
He mentions some EarthGov agents and others that could be useful in starting a fight against the unitologists. Specially if you can give something in return such as all the data you've gathered.
At the end of all that your head is going dull with so many arguing and proposing things. It's better to make a decision before Carla pipes up wanting to go to Disneyland or something.
of course Disney still exists 500 years into the future

"Hey doc, about that patient business" the medic turns to you, as inexpressive as always.
"You sure you wanna do this right away?" his eyes narrow as if he's trying to pinpoint what exactly your concern is, so you decide to clarify:
"I have a feeling that the second people-" the old engineer interrupts you "Unitologists ain't people" while the observation is one you can agree with it makes you distressed how much these people like to interrupt each other.
"...catch wind of us snooping around that something is gonna come down on us like a wrathful god"
"What you're saying is you fear the unitologists will try to attack us, to silence us or to stop us from contacting this man?"
"Woah there. I didn't say I 'fear' anything. I just mean it's better if we play our cards right"
"Damn Phil, I never thought I'd see you being – careful – and actually considering consequences"
You would take offense to Sarge's insinuation that you're careless and impulsive it if it weren't true.
"Alright, I've made my mind. We need allies, and if there's anyone that can help us against the cultist freaks it's the Big Brother"
"You mean EarthGov?"
"Same difference. Julius, set course to Luna"
"I did always want to see New Horizons"
"Me too, Carla. Me too"
-
From the ship you could see the colony was a pretty big place. There was a chance you could all lay low there without anyone really asking many questions.
Though it was likely that if the unitologists were as infiltrated here as they were in Heinlein then you'd be discovered the moment Sarge contacted his friend.
In the end you could opt for a few ways to approach this situation.
>Let's give it a break, relax first and later we contact him
>Contact him now, have Sarge do it on his own while you look around
>Contact him now, you all go together
>Write-in

>>1027084
You can go catch up, the thread will take a bit to start 'rolling' again.
>>
>>1026615
>Earth it is, relax and meet with family
We deserve a damn vacation before getting caught up in more shit, I don't trust the people sarge suggested, he only knows them, he's not awesome enough to have been a spook that had good connections.

We should form personal connections we can trust, or decide to trust, rather that have it hinge on a "few guys" sarge knows, heck we probably know better folks from our earth days.... And wasn't Carla a spy? Or was just a undercover agent for Carla.
>>
>>1027086
>Contact him now, you all go together. But have some 'watching' out too ensure we are not ganked from a suicide bomber or anything.
>>
>>1027093
Well that ship has sailed but you can still steer it back.

To clarify on your other points:

Phil worked in a tactical team, not much of his past has been revealed but if you want I can sum up everything I remember having explained
Carla was an undercover agent working under the Director but she was raised there so most of her contacts are dead.

Also a cockroach just flew in my fucking face and I slapped it so give me a sec.
>>
>>1027086
>Write-in
Take a vacation first, even if only for a day or 2.

Then Start researching, We really should not trust any earthgov agents, rather we should copy the Uni's and infiltrate earth gov to form our own cliques, and recruit from there.

We know these cultist are very good at infiltration, they've likely infiltrated in just about every level of and branch of government. If nation states still exit, and they have a complete ban on Unitology religion and have a police state to back it up, its likely going to have at least a few cultists in it.

Lets just focus on relaxing first before turning to earth, we need to know what we have, what we need, what we can do, and what is most likely to succeed. We can only be in so much nercoshit before it drowns us, or possibly have EarthGov forces turned against us.
>>
>>1027130
>>1027094
The two votes seem to be pretty much opposite so I'll wait a bit longer to see if anyone decides to pitch in.
>>
>>1027093
>>1027094
We can meet, and have sarge see them, without exposing all of us, or we can wear rigs that cover our faces to the meet.

I'd like to take this time in between to gather info, rest and build up some rigs based on our prototype armour for the rest of the crew. They will form the core of our "army/organization. If we go that route.

If you guys want to dive right into it, I won't fight against it too much.
>>
>>1027138
>>1027135

I'm fine with us wearing our rigs, I wanted only half the team to meet with them and watch out for Uni's going for suicide shit. But no Vacation, Time is of the essence.
>>
>>1027138
I mistook my post for someone else's... I 'm multitasking too much.....

Ok I am willing to do the meet so long as we can do prep work before hand and set up the meeting to favor us as much as possible.

We need to be able to make a accurate assessment of how the EarthGov will act or react, how they will act towards us, and how the Unitologlgy cults will act to us.

So we need some lore info to base our actions on, and the ability to act on said info.
>>
>>1027086
>Remind ourselves how much we just wanna go lay on a beach with carla in one arm and drinks in the other
A one day beach excursion would not be too bad right?
>>
>>1027142
I think we should hide our numbers and identity if we hide and cover sarge while he does the meet, maybe we can come with but we should not show up in larger numbers than 2 guys.

If they turn on us, or the contact turns out to be bad, we can surprise them with a counter by being larger in numbers and abilities, than if they assume its only sarge, and they are dealing with a "ex-cop?" that has no friends and seems like a wackjob.

We can figure out the abilities of the Uni's by trying to measure and grasp the level of their presence on Luna. We can set the meet to our favor, by picking the location and how it will go down, and the exfil with alternate safe house.
>>
>>1027177
That is why I stated only 'half' of us meet with the contact and the others just do things nearby. Normal people wear rigs anyway.
>>
>>1027178
Saying "half meet" is ambiguous, and you cannot assume I can know what you mean by that when you leave out any details.
Taking that statement as normal people would it concludes to people thinking it means half of our group shows up and stand around sarge while he talks.
>>
So are we in orbit around the moon right now, or did we actually land?
>>
Back, had to take a bath from that encounter.

I guess I'll unite what you guys posted and go with
>Look around the place and find somewhere good to meet
>Try to gauge the presence of unitologists
>Set up a meeting, Sarge goes in with a companion, the other four wait nearby pretending to be doing shit
>Complain you aren't in a beach drinking martinis and fucking your girlfriend and how you instantly regret landing here

>>1027211
You're in orbit, waiting to go down.
>>
>>1027222
I am alright with that.
>>
>>1027222
Mostly good with that.
Can they actually be hidden and out of sight?

They can try and spook us to see if the people loitering around for a long as time will react to them, if lets say the contact acts threateningly.
>>
I'd also like to say that if we had a vacation, it'd probably help everyone's mental state.
>>
>>1027239
If we have time? Sure. currently however WHAT IS TIME?
>>
>>1027242
>>1027175
Okay its settled then, we take a vacation or something, somewhere. Make some great memories, and improve the bond between group members etc.

So now, is it gonna be on Luna or Earth or were?

We won't be gone for more than a few days.
>>
>>1027252
You fucking what? No you stupid twat. I'm not saying we go off and have a vacation. We don't have time. I said IF we had time which isn't a thing. The information we have could be vital to ripping apart the Uni's at the seem.

The group starts walking around. At first aimlessly, just looking at the sights and enjoying a place filled with other humans that aren't dying or running for their lives. The place may be a dump, but it's a safe dump, at least as far as you can see.

Truly, looking at the colony from space and looking at from the ground are completely different experiences. Down here you see the people and the filth, the religious preachers shouting their mysticist lies,
the security guards lazying around while shady fellows shake down honest people. It may not be the best place to raise a family, but at least the corruption here is strong enough that nobody questioned the stolen ship,
at least not after Carla slipped them a couple of credits she 'misplaced' from Heinlein's funds.

Eventually you all settle on finding a good place to set up your meeting with Sarge's friend. As much as you wished to just lie low in a beach somewhere, a martini in one hand and Carla's sweet ass in the other, you've got a job to do.
It may not be the best job, but it's your job nonetheless. Not because you chose it, or because you were chosen, but because as luck would have it you and your companions seem to be the only ones left to accomplish it.
And so you head out to take the first step.

-

You're all sitting around a table in a run down bar. Place reminds you of the slums you visited on Earth, or at least the smell does. The group is sharing information on what they've gathered.
"Like I was saying, nothing good on the better bits of the city. We'll have better luck around here" the Sergeant drinks a shot of cheap whiskey before looking to you for any input.
"There's plenty of good places here, Sarge. There's this courtyard with a bunch of stores and buildings. Lots of places to hide, that's my proposed meet spot"
"I found an alley" Gomez leaves it at that before Doc motions for him to continue "Oh right. The alley is pretty narrow and looks like a dead end, but it's got an entrance to the side that is hidden behind a dumpster, which you could use to retreat through"
"Well, I've already shared what I found. To me the café near the commercial area is the best bet, security goes into it to drink 'coffee' - " she adds air quotes upon saying that " - really often so if they see Phil and Gomez they won't question it. Plus me, Julius and Doc could fit in easily."
Not a bad idea. You wait to see if anyone else has any ideas. No such luck.

Now you could just set up the meet, but it'd be better to look over the place with everyone and pick decent positions for each crew member to set themselves in.

I entertained that thought, but hes done more harm than good for a uni spy, hes had too many opportunities to make a difference. Plus he'd have to be extra batshit crazy in order to be a undercover uni spy and it would clearly show.

I bet his secret is hes gay, and hes a bit depressed self pitying guy who has no luck with the same sex. That's why he sucks at life.

Cafe

You know, this whole situation is probably very surreal for all of the survivors. They're all alone as the sole survivors one minute, and just a skip away is a slum buzzing with activity. no necromorphs, just ordinary but skeezy people.
>>
>>1027305
To avoid suspicion the team enters the Café separately. While it's a much nicer place than the Pub it's certainly no 'high-class' establishment. Carla, Sarge, Doc and Gomez are already sitting around,
in different spots of course. As you enter the first thing you notice is how at least a third of the customers are security. One of them gives you a knowing glance as the waitress pours whiskey on his coffee cup.
Here you'll fit right in, but the question is, will the enforcers be any issue if things go awry? It's likely that these are all beat officers just trying to waste some time and get wasted.

You pass by Carla's, 'accidentally' hitting on her table. "Hey watch it- oh I'm sorry officer" you look her up and down before waving it off. "Pretty lady like you, I'll make an exception".
The seat you choose is near the kitchen's door, right next to the countertop where what you assume is a pig dressed as a café owner lazes about. If anything bad you're sure you and the group could retreat
through the kitchen. And if movies ever taught you anything is that there is always a back entrance in a place like this.

Back to your companions you observe their choices in 'blending in'. Gomez is chatting up with a couple of local cops, seems like he fits right in with the other grunts. Sarge is reading alone near the entrance,
Carla being in the table facing his' and the exit. Doc and Julius are on the countertop's stools having what you can only assume is 'bar therapy'. Everyone fits in perfectly and if you were a security officer,
which you technically are, there would be no reason to be alarmed by any of them.

"Hey there han'some" the waitresses interrupts your observations "Can I get ya anythin'?" you look her up and down. She's the type that wouldn't notice if you were a necromorph dressed as a cop.
You almost feel bad for using a place with civilians for something that you fear might go really badly, but you have no better option. "Just get me what the other enforcers are having"
"Cop special coming right up" she smiles and saunters back to the counter.

-

"I liked the place" you really don't doubt Gomez's words. "I think we should use it, I'm sure I can even get the other officers to help us out if things go bad"
Now that you wouldn't put your faith on, but you might as well go with it. You turn to Sarge. "So who exactly is that contact of yours?"
"You could say he's the local's Carla. Works with intel gathering for EarthGov, met him back when he did a gig at the station. He's trustworthy, just don't let any women or children near him when he's got a gun"
Sounds familiar.

>Gomez has a screw loose and doesn't seem to mind it

Actually scratch the scout part, I was being lazy and didn't want to type. Have someone, maybe Carla or Doc, "patrol" outside. Just in case they have a large group of goons outside of the cafe and we have eyes on the outside if they try and surround it.

Investigate him, find out what he looks like, and have Carla hack his mail, and bank account logs see if any of it goes to Uni leadership communications, or if hes made any donations to them. And of course be discreet, and overly paranoid when doing this.

If we can find him, tail him for a few days to get his routine and see if he meets with any uni type fellows or that the people he associates with are connect to unitology.

"Sarge, you can set the meet at the Café. Tomorrow afternoon, that good?" he nods and leaves the table, heading for a more silent location to make the call.
The others remain seated, staring at the bottom of the their drinks probably pondering the fact that you'll soon be knee deep in shit again. "It feels weird isn't it?"
"What does?" you shrug "Being here, having to pretend everything is safe. Then going straight for the next mess that shows up" your words seem to resonate with their feelings.
"I can't help but feel like I'm being watched. All that time in the ship being careful. I guess I'll be relieved once we actually have someone gunning for us" she gives you a half-smile.
"You already having someone watching you" the girl frantically looks around trying to identify the subject "Relax. And damn, the alcohol makes you a bad spy.
You'd give yourself a way like that" she sighs in relief. "What I meant, Carla, is that I'm watching - over - you. Try to enjoy the fact we don't have space zombies for once"
"This goes for all of you" interrupts the Doc, looking specifically at Julius "We've been through a lot. Even Philip being insane as he is seems like he's more... grounded"
Now that he mentions it, you've noticed a sudden lacking urge of doing insane things. You're being more careful and patient. A bit more boring too.
The night ends with all of you heading back to the ship's quarters to spend the night. No nightmares, no dreams. Just rest.

-

Arriving a bit earlier than the meeting's actual time lets your group set itself up carefully. Everyone heads inside one by one, you and Sarge going last.
He seems tired like usual, though you're almost certain the bags under his eyes look smaller than they did. "I'll be going in as soon as he arrives"
the man looks around the street before continuing "You could hang outside you know? Try to see if anyone else shows up. I trust the guy but you can never be too careful"
"If you trust him then why-" he interrupts you abruptly "Think Phil. Our shit in Heinlein was all tapped and infiltrated. Who's to say my call wasn't intercepted or something?"
"Did you say anything suspicious" he shakes his head "Still, better safe than sorry" that - is - a good point.
"Maybe I could go with you instead?" his hands lift in the universal sign of 'what the fuck' "Oh come on, you know it'd be helpful if the big damn hero of the story was present"
He rolls his eyes before signaling you to look to the street. A chubby middle aged man stands over the Café. "That's Duke, the bastard looks like even worse crap than usual"
You wait a bit before he turns to you again "I'm going in, make up your mind, Phil"

"I'm going in with you" he nods and you both approach at a relaxed pace. The man called Duke seems to be intrigued by your presence, as he raises an eyebrow and leans his head.
"Who's the friend, Bennie?" you smirk at the thought of Sarge being named Bennie, but the look he gives you makes your face straighten again. "This is Phil, an officer from Heinlein"
Duke shrugs and opens the door for you two to come in, following right after.
-
"Now, to what do I owe the pleasure of getting a call from my old pal Bennie" you can feel Sarge's desire to stick a fork on the smug bastard's eye. You're that good at gauging hatred.
"Simple enough. We've got some information that we want to share with the government" the man nods and sips some of that 'cop special' coffee. "What's it about? Wait let me guess,
it's about the explosion right?" wait a second they know already? The man grins at your shock. "Of course EarthGov knows, you think we wouldn't notice an entire station being silent?"
"If you know why didn't you do anything?" he points to the ceiling "You gotta take any complaints upstairs. It's above my paygrade. All I know is that it exploded, the 'official story' is that
the station reactor malfunctioned and everyone there died" you almost smash the table upon hearing that load of crap "Do you know what - really - happened?" the man looks at you,
seriousness in his eye for the first time "I believe that - you - know, and I trust that you'll tell me. What I'll do with the information is yet to be seen"
"So what have you got?"

that mugga took longer than expected because I had to scour for the goddamn coffee: there was none

You narrow your eyes and cross your arms "What proof do we have that the people 'above' your pay-grade won't sit around like they did with the 'station meltdown'?"
His lips curl downwards, a frown forming on his face. "That's actually a very good question. Well, to begin with they haven't done anything because they're not yet entirely sure of what happened.
"Am I really supposed to believe that?" he shrugs and motions for the waitress to bring him another cup. "Believe it if you will. I have my own theories on the suspects -" suspects?
So he knows it wasn't an accident. " - but what I don't have is proof. And that's the essential in this line of work, red tape and all"
"Maybe you could give us something instead?" at that Sarge nods "We could use all kinds of supplies. Hell if you'd be as kind as give us money that would already help us hire mercs to do your goddamn job"
"Resources eh? I could see what I can pull from our piggy bank. Truth be told the most useful thing I can offer you are contacts and information. If I know who to look into I can put you on the priority list,
as in I'd send you all the good bits before sending it to the higher ups" you're sure that's not legal but you're also sure this man doesn't really care about that.
"Considering that its above your paygrade, you turning in the info will likely bump you up a grade or two, maybe three if we gave it all to you" he laughs "Or it could get me killed. I see what you're doing kid"
He points to the uniform you're wearing. Not the experimental RIG since that would be out of place, just a simple Security RIG. "You can't get me to hand over more than I have right now with promises of what
I - might - get, that bullshit might work on whatever common crooks you are used to but not on me" ah yes, he's an uncommon crook. Fucking government agents.
"Whatever then, it's best we just move on and find someone willing to work with us" you and Sarge get up, but the man gets up as well. You see your team mates putting their hands on their weapons.
"Look, maybe I can give you a little something alright. One favor and then you hand it to me alright? If it really is about Heinlein blowing up I can do that much. What do you need, cash, guns, a ship,

2. Cult/Unitology info.

3. Combat info on the "zombies" we'll pretend we don't know the real names of these thing if we want. And how it all relates and connects to the Unitology cult. We can hold back either the research or the combat info, or give both.

We can also work as freelance Gov agents and this could be our foot in the door. I feel like we could become the modern day Gestapo/NKVD.

"Cash, contacts including yours, and a spot too lay low for a few days in a nice setting. Hell, add in EarthGov clearance since it's good for just about anything" he nods with an uncharacteristically dull expression.
"Yeah that seems fair. What do you mean by 'nice setting' though?" you look to Sarge then back to him "A place without any unitologist assholes nearby, think you can do that?
This is bigger than you know" he nods once more while getting out a datapad, which he then takes some notes on "Anything else? Hookers? Booze? A donkey?" the last two are appealing,
but you have something else in mind. "A meeting with your most trustworthy superior" Sarge grins at that "No. Not him. Oh goddamn it. I'll see what I can do" the man gets up and winks at the waitress,
"Now, if you'll excuse me I have some business to attend to in the back room. When I heard the place you picked I just - had - to" he heads through the kitchen door with the woman in tow.
The pig-like Café owner looks at you and Sarge like someone just killed his pet cat and used it as an improvised weapon. You feel he doesn't really like when authorities come to his place to screw his employees.
"That went better than I expected, you're good at negotiating Phil" that can't possibly be true, but you decide to inquire further "And what do you think makes me so?"
"You look like a nutjob with nothing to lose. Types like that are hard to control. Plus he noticed the bit when four other people grabbed their guns even if he didn't give it away. He knows you aren't joking"
That seems plausible. Or maybe you can mind control people due to your long exposure to Necromorph pheromones, that's a possibility too.
-
He delivered just as promised. His contact, dosh, and a nice little hideout. When he contact you to give the location of the apartment he sounded like the place was a dump, but getting there damn,
the thing is a goddamn palace. It's build inside some old warehouse, but while the outside looks inconspicuous the inside is luxurious. A king sized bed and five guest rooms, a goddamn hot tub, a full gym,
a pool table, a fucking booze-filled bar, place even has an antique jukebox that looks like it was taken from 500 years ago. There is no donkey in sight, but you're sure if you drink enough there will be.
-
Soon everyone has settled into the new spot. Even though there's much to do you feel like they earned a bit of rest.
You'd personally like to go to work, but Duke said he'd only be able to set you up with the good stuff in a couple of days.
On the meantime Carla had set him up with some of your own information, just a little to give him a taste. It's the basic details along with some corroborating proof.
As for your companions, Doc and Gomez went to play pool, Sarge said he'd check the bar, Julius went to inspect the gym, and Carla's giving the hot tub a test drive

On your way to grab a drink Carla shouts your name from the hot tub. You rush there thinking something might have happened, instead you find yourself ambushed as she pushes you from behind.
You fall on the tub with clothes and all. "You're such easy prey" she closes the door and pounces on you. Things get a bit heated after that but you're pretty sure nobody was bothered by the noise,
whole place is soundproofed. Makes you wonder if as a security measure or a way to have really wild parties. Eventually Carla tires out, so you keep going for her. It's good cardio, and good for your health.
After you've done the deed enough times you two just embrace each other and relax. Things are good right now, you might as well enjoy the calm before the storm.
-
Cleaned up from a real bath you decide to go for a drink with Sarge and the others, Carla in tow. Gomez gives you that good old 'nice work bro' look before going behind the bar and working on those drinks.
"I call these the Boca del Infierno" you wonder what it means. As you take a single sip of the red-neon drink, immediately you feel like spitting fire "Wha- What the fuck does Boca del Infierno mean?"
he laughs "Hell mouth chief. I hope you like 'em" you frown "Could get used to it" after drinking gasoline to drown the after taste "Just get me some whiskey, neat" he grins and does as much,
the others asking after their own taste seeing how you reacted to Gomez's drink and decided to avoid trying it. He however keeps drinking that mix of antifreeze, tequila and rocket fuel like it's water.
"So how does the new place feel?" everyone gives their answers simultaneously "Woah, calm down kids. One at a time" sarge lifts a drink, as if toasting "The place is fucking great. Better than Heinlein anyway"
the others lift their cups as he did "A toast to that then".
-
Squatting heavy weights is important. Exercise is the difference between life and death, and that's why you do it heavy. Putting put your triceps under the bar and aligning your feet, you take it off the rack.
"Lightweight baby" you squat the bar plus the hundred kilos loaded on each side for five reps, before a strong slap to your butt takes away your concentration. You nearly jump to re-rack the bar.
"Who?" right, who else, Carla stands before you wearing yoga pants and a tank top "Hey big guy, I need - you - to work - me - out" you can't help but widen your eyes at that.
"Again?" she just nods and puts down a yoga mat "Here?" you shouldn't even have bothered asking.

"Everyone fine with these rules then?" they all nod as you and Sarge get into the makeshift ring. "This is just for fun, remember that Phil" yeah thanks mom.
A second later you're down on the ground with Sarge's legs wrapped around your neck. You try to get out but it's too damn hard, you're going to have to improvise.
"Light...weight...baby" you lift his body up in it's entirety before slamming back down on the ground. He lets go and rolls away clutching his back.
"Holy, my bad are you okay Sarge?" his fist hits your face. Fucker was just playing dumb. He approaches you and offers his hand "Experience comes with age, kid. And old men play di-" Nutshot! Bet he didn't see that coming.
The old Sergeant falls to the ground, this time for real. Guess that makes you the winner.
-
Why did you use this rope to make a noose? You were sleepwalking? Man where did you even get a rope? Oh right, Carla bought it from the sex shop. You don't even wanna know how she head of that 'kinbaku' crap.
-
Just cleaning your guns and making sure all your gear is in order might seem like a mundane task, but it's actually one of the most important duties of a warrior. Or at least you're pretty sure you've head that in a movie.
"Hey Carla, Julius, how are those defenses coming?" the duo turns their attention from a table full of electronics and computers to you "Well the guy had a pretty good setup already.
We're mostly just making sure we're the only ones watching. That and setting a few surprises." Carla gives you a grin that looks almost diabolical. "Julius what does she mean by that?"
"Let's just say she took inspiration from your antics in the 'fighting tournament'..." ouch. You turn back to the TV. Nothing useful on the news, though a few special reports were mourning the 'terrible accident',
yes that 'terrible accident' that destroyed Heinlein station. Goddamn EarthGov silencing shit. The unitologists were a fucking accident alright, you wish their dads had worn goddamn condoms,
so you didn't have to do post-birth abortions to fix things up. One thing does catch your attention though. The reporters mentioned briefly a few missing people cases in certain colonies, which you find most odd.

Turning to the others as they eat their breakfasts you see that they are reasonably comfortable. While it's good that they're getting rest it also makes you worry.
They can't just sit on their asses all day and do whatever, you need to keep their eyes on the prize. The idea comes to you suddenly as you nearly choke on a mouthful of bacon.
"We-" you forcefully swallow the remains of food down your throat "We should make a field trip. An excursion" you see Carla and Gomez turn to you, the others remaining focused on eating.
"Did you have something in mind" says your girlfriend, spinning her hand as if telling you to continue "Of course..." she smiles "Not. I figured you'd have an idea" her expression turns neutral again.
"Really Phil? I'd think you of all people would have a great and fun idea. I mean, I'm honestly getting tired of just f-" her face becomes flushed "Of just sleeping all day long" uh huh. Sleep.
You turn to the news briefly as a single word catches your attention. "Unitologists" everyone's attention is now on - you -. "We should go pay them a visit" everyone's faces contort.
The responses all follow the 'I would rather not' and 'Hell no' line of thought. Guess if you wish to do it you'll have to do it on your own time. "Alright how about we all get tattoos"
In the 26th century tattoos are not a very life-changing choice since removing them is a simple procedure, so they've become way more common than in previous eras.
-
"So what did you guy get?" you rub your shoulder while waiting as the others come out of their auto-tat chairs "Crossed rifles, and the date we left Heinlein" says Sarge. It fits him well.
"I can just show you!" Gomez lifts his shirt, a girl's name engraved on his chest near the heart "It's my little sister's name" how... cute? Then again, that sounds more like a lover thing.
Carla lifts her hair to show you all a tiny series of numbers on her neck. "It's a code my dad showed me when I was little" you nod "What does it mean?" she laughs and replies that she never managed to break it.
"What about you Doc?" he turns his shoulder toward you. Blood type, classy. "Julius?" the old engineer sits on the chair without response "Julius? Anything wrong?" he turns to you and shakes his head.
"So what did you get?" he sighs "My nephew, poor kid was too young to die, he..." you move closer and hug him. "I know. It's a pity, but you know we're going to get those responsible right?"
He nods and gives you a sad smile. "I'll keep going for as long as you all keep going" you pat his back. "Phil, what about you?" the old man interrupts. The others join him in asking what you got.
When they see it they all laugh. What's funny about a Polar Bear with a tear rolling down his eyes and the sayings 'Never Forget' you'll never know.

You and Julius are sitting on the living room of the apartment. He's watching some weird ass game show while you copy down colony names. Gotta be sure to keep all these in mind,
because people have been abducted frequently in them. Something which you are sure is to blame on unitologists. "Hey Phil" he turns to you, lowering the game show's volume.
"Do you have any family?" you grin "I suppose you guys are the closest I have" he shakes his head and continues "I mean real blood family, do you have anyone?"
"Not really. Well I have my parents but we don't see eye to eye. Honestly I think family is more about where your heart is than who you're stuck with" he laughs, it's been happening more often even if it's still rare.
"But didn't we get stuck with each other anyway? I mean, monsters coming to get you tends to bring people together whether they want to or not" you sigh.
"Well, the thing is, if I didn't like any of you guys the voices in my head and dreams would've made me kill you all. Don't yours?" his eyes widen "That's a joke right?",
after a moment of silence he says "I haven't dreamt anything in a while, I can barely sleep", then turns back to his gameshow.
-
Goddamn unitologists. You tried getting into their church but they said you had to be 'initiated first'. Whatever that was you really didn't like your odds.
Instead you opted for stealing a box of eggs and throwing at their church, stealing their pamphlets while they weren't looking and slashing all their tires. You doubt anyone will ask questions what with...
well, the church having so many haters.
-
It's time to play COPS. You and Carla are dressed in the security RIGs with false identification she 'manufactured' for the New Horizons Colony. She was eager to come with you.
The others didn't really wish to, seeing as Gomez's was going back to that Café, Sarge had to finish his book, while Doc and Julius were engaged in a series of chess matches.
Both you and Carla are patrolling near one of the more run down neighborhoods, it's pretty much a shithole. Even the unitologist churches with all their resources don't bother making a nice place.
After a couple of minutes you finally find a few situations to solve. The first is a bar brawl a block away, which a civilian came to report. Apparently dozens of individuals were involved.
The other situation was a mugging which you came across, a few gang crooks with moon tattoos on their foreheads shaking down a delivery man. Finally you're pretty sure you saw a drug dealer a few blocks back.

You decide not to go back to the drug dealer, you already gave him the stink eye and threatened him so you might as well hope he'll be gone by the time you return.
The brawl on the other hand will sort itself out, winners will win, losers will go to the hospital. That leaves the mugging. It's a group of four thugs, all with the same stupid forehead tattoo.
Carla follows you, as you enter the alleyway they're in. "Hey pig, get away, we have a deal remember?" a deal huh? So the cops here are crooks too. "I don't remember any deal"
"You want a bigger cut that it? Take it to the boss and pray he don't cut your tongue, copper" the other gang members laugh and grab the delivery guy. The leader readies a punch,
but you grab his fist before he can launch it. "You crazy, pig? Don't mess with the lunatics or-" god you really hate this type of guy. Thinks he's the hot shit but he's just another perp.

"You crazy, pig? Don't mess with the lunatics or-" and there go his front teeth as you give him a swift punch. "Talking back to an officer of the law, five months in the Iso-cubes"
One of the thug's companions move to hit you with a steel pipe only to have it kicked off his hand by Carla. He turns to her, in disbelief that someone could do that in a RIG
"What the- gh- " ouch, punch to the throat. The other two rush you, so you move to the side and trip one sending him crashing on the wall. The other spins back and tries to stab you,
with the tiniest knife you've ever seen. You grab his hand, disarm the knife and break his wrist, then a swift uppercut sends him to sleep. At this point the leader has gotten up, his mouth dripping blood.
His hand goes for a revolver but he doesn't have time to pull it, as Carla's hit his head with a brick. "Night sweetie!" she laughs as the man goes down like a sack of rocks.
"I guess that was easy enough, should we call anyone to clean them up?" you laugh "Nah, we can't anyway remember? Just let them sleep" you turn back to talk to the delivery man.
You expected a thank you or something but he's already running away. Carla approaches you and leans her head on your chest "Such a thankless job. At least it's fun"
Well this isn't really how cops normally act but you don't want to ruin her illusion. "We should get out before any more come, let's go" both of you run out of the alley,
leaving the four unconscious gang bangers on the ground.

Going back the way you came you see just how crappy this area is. Despite all the advances, even with all the technology and resources that we've gained from colonizing, humanity still has places like these.
And then there's that guy, the drug dealer. His kind profits from making others live in the filth, on addicting people, on extorting them and harming them when they can no longer be drained.
You despise his kind, as much as you despise the unitologists. They're both killers, one just uses slower methods. "I thought I told you to get the fuck out" the guy gives you the stink eye.
"The lunatics' let me deal here, I ain't doing shit" man these lunatics are really starting to piss you off. Must be the 'big shots of this hellhole. "Look. Get out, throw your stash into that manhole, and I'll let you walk"

"You know what, I'm putting your stuff into the trash myself" he raises his arm to point a finger at you but Carla grabs it and puts him into an arm lock.
"Now, let's see what you have here" you rummage through his stash. He's got some heavy stuff, quite a few injectables. "Ever try this stuff?" he shakes his head, a mix of fear and pain on his face.
"Well, you will" you start injecting everything he's got into his other arm. Every time he tries to get away Carla puts more pressure onto the other arm, forcing him to accept it.
"Now, you better run to a hospital, figure you've got a minute before OD" he starts stumble-running his way out of the streets, all while shouting increasingly incoherent profanities and threats at you.
Carla grabs the rest of his crap and throws it into the garbage discretely. "Nice job Officer... Carla?" she smiles then frowns "Wait, you don't know my surname do you"
"You don't know my first name" you say with grin, causing her to shrug. Carla moves closer and plants a kiss on your lips "Fair enough, crazy cop"

"Up for some lunch, Carla?" the girl follows you out of the crappy area and heading to the commercial district "I'm pretty hungry, could be nice to have lunch with my - boyfriend - "
"Now now, there are rules in the corporation about relationships between personnel" she laughs "Good thing we're just roleplaying. Now that I think about it, that's something we should try later too"
Wait, what does she mean by that?
-
Soon the two of you are sitting inside the same café that you met Duke in. According to locals it's the least crap place that doesn't charge your eyes out. You guess the uniform might've something to do with the recommendations.
"What c'n I get ya two?" says the bimbo waitress "I'll have a... Roast beef with fries" Carla's made a pretty decent pick so you just ask for the same "Any of the 'special coffee' officers?"
>Yes, booze is good for your health
>No, thanks. Sober is the way
The waitress takes her leave while you and Carla begin chit chatting about your time on Luna so far. It's been a good experience for you and she does share the sentiment.
When asked what her favourite thing so far has been she answered "the hot tub" while you had to go with "punching people" which caused her to roll her eyes and laugh.
Eventually you two start talking about Duke, and how the whole 'package' is taking long to arrive. She suggests calling him, and you concur.
"Phil, what's up, I've been meaning to call you. How do you feel about us meeting at 'your' place tonight?"
"Seems good, we'll meet there. But what for, did you get everything done already?"
"You know what. And hey, -you- caused me some suprise when I worked in getting you new identities" now that your old ones are declared dead that was kind of a must, so it worries you that there were irregularities.
"Huh? How so?" he laughs "Now, I get it, you don't want to 'spill the beans' on your little secret. It's fine, just remember that we're partners on this now" he hangs up before you can ask more.
Carla is frowning at you, though you feel no ill intent, more like the girl is questioning what she just head. "What did he mean by 'little secret'?"
You shrug. "I honestly have no clue"

"Wanna go on a date with me?" Carla stops drinking her 'coffee' to stare at you. After a brief pause she responds "I thought we were in one" you shake your head.
"I mean, a normal date. Not the crazy stuff we're always up to" she smiles and gently holds your hand "I'd love to, Phil" you grin "Though first you'll have to tell me your first name"
"Oh come on, don't start" she laughs "If you do I'll tell you my last name" you shrug "I mean, couldn't you see my first name in my file or something?" her face suddenly changes.
"Crap, how didn't I think of that" she starts rummaging through her datapad. Suddenly she lets out a loud belly laugh "Really?" you sigh "Yes. Really" she shakes her head in disbelief.
"Is this the little secret?" you wonder for a bit before reponding "A guy like Duke? He would've mocked me not just... did whatever it is he was doing" she raises an eyebrow.
"Now that you say it, what -was- he doing? Sounded like he wanted to get on your good side"
"How should I know? I really don't know what he was on about"
"Uh huh" she approaches you and grabs your face with both hands "Are you a hot secret agent"
"Only one of those" you both laugh. "How about the date then?"
"Sure, we can go out. But it's not like I like your anything"
"Yeah right, right. No way you like me when you're trying to kill my by over-sexing"

The park is not exactly what you expected. It's got litter everywhere and dirty kids playing ball. Still, it's the greenest area you could find around here so it'll have to do.
You start making your way through the thin grass. It feels artificial on your feet. "How did you become... what you are? An intel agent or whatever?"
"Dad was one, taught me a few things. Then I got adopted, and things kinda went downhill for a while. When I grew up I knew that I wanted to work in the same field as he did"
she sighs "Make a connection or something, you know?" you nod "I guess. My dad was a detective, and that is most of the reason I went into law enforcement"
"Really? Do you still talk to- oh right. Family issues you mentioned before"
"That's right. Haven't talked to him or my mother in a long time. Funny, I can't remember how it started"
"Weird, usually something so important..." she seems to examine your face before continuing "Let's just change topics, what do you want to talk about?"

Don't ask this just yet.
>Why does she put up with all your crazyness if she gets distressed with it so often
Wait for the right moment to maximize its effect. but hold off on asking this guys!

We don't want her questioning why shes with us, if she can't find or think up of a satisfactory answer it can detract from the date or moment.
>>

>>
>>1029848
Don't get me wrong, I want to ask that too, just not in the middle of a romantic date, near the end maybe or another time. We just have to gauge the wright moment, or try and set it up so we can follow with that.
>>
Try asking... something like: whats your ideal picturesque dream look like? Try and talk about dreams and aspersions.

Do this slowly since we aren't really "officially" in a stated relationship, so its hard to be direct since it will be touch and feel in some areas. But there is a mutual understanding of the dynamics of the current relationship.

If only we went to the beach first.....

"I don't know" she laughs "Come on, don't you have anything at all to ask or to share?" you take a moment to consider, and as you step on a puddle you think of something.
"Still wanna go to that beach?" Carla smiles and looks up, to the Earth. "Of course, I've never been to one. They always sounded so comfortable. Do you like the beach?"
"Yeah, I went to the beach a couple of times back on Earth. Though sand? I don't like sand. It's coarse, rough, irritating, and it gets everywhere" you turn to her, she's definitely confused.
"That's... what?" you pause "It was a joke" she seems to buy it so you let it go "Bad jokes aside, I hope we'll get the opportunity to have that beach vacation. Maybe after we're done with,
well, what are we doing exactly?" you laugh "Destroying unitology and all it's adherents"
"That, right"
-
Taking a seat on a bench you both embrace, snuggly. "I should probably call my parents sometime-" she looks up to you, a smile forming on her mouth "-though they'll just hang up on me"
"Goddamn it, Phil" she laughs "I guess we both have... had our dysfunctional families" you agree and for a while just sit back and relax, caressing her hair and neck while looking at the admittedly not very nice park.
"Y'know, thinking about the past, how did I never met you?"
"I don't know. Never in the same places? I used to hang around that pub where I met you, Sarge and Gomez"
"Yeah me too" she gets up and looks at you, narrowing her eyes "Hey, you're... Yeah you used to have shorter hair back then but I remember you."
"You do? Really? What did I do then?" she shrugs "I don't remember, I think you were always alone there just drinking. I mostly went by earlier than you did"
"Okay let's drop that subject" Carla embraces you again "It's nothing to be ashamed off. At least you didn't hit on any chicks while drunk"
"That's just because I thought all of them were ugly - ouch!" you got pinched in the stomach for the accidental comment.
-
>>
>>1029974
"So how about your dreams? Aspirations and all that crap?" she laughs "That's a weird one coming from you. I guess I don't have any, I just do what I like the most at any given moment"
"Doesn't sound too bad" you clutch your side, damn she pinched you hard, even minutes later it still hurts "What about you, Phil?" you stop walking, suddenly confronted by such deep question.
>What the fuck do you even want of life anyway? (Write-in)
"Wow" you laugh nervously "Was it that weird? Alright let's change topics then... Why are you putting up with all my c-"
"Boss, it's those two! The pretty lady and the maniac with her" A group of twenty gang bangers leave a big armoured truck and head your way. "My, my, my! You two, you two aren't really cops are you?"
"Or at least you are new ones. Here's the thing 'newbies', the Moon belongs to the Lunatics" he opens his coat, revealing a revolver "Though looking at you two I guess I'll have to demonstrate..."
"We should've worn helmets, Phil" too late now.

"Come on man, what are you on about? We're just two love birds at the park. Only came in today like 2 hours ago to see the station and bond" the gang leader lets you speak, his fingers twitching.
"You have us mistaken for the wrong people, and you guys don't seem like Lunatics either, you're not locked up after all" he lets out a strident maniacal laugh and grabs a knife, leaving the revolver in its holster.
"I don't care who you say you are. My boys say you're the ones who screwed with them, I can't just back down on giving you a little lesson now can I? Even if you -are- the wrong couple"
He steps toward you but you imitate his move. Your eye are about a foot apart, so you drop the mask you normally wear. The leader doesn't budge, rather he laughs once more.
"I like your eyes, if you were looking like that at someone who wasn't me I'd try to recruit you. But to do that to the boss?" he snaps his tongue "It's not cool" the man moves the knife swiftly and straight to your guts.
But you intercept his hand before the blade can arrive. His face turns to confusion, and then he goes down as you headbutt him. "They attacked the boss, kill them!" the two nearest men run towards you and Carla.
Extending your hand to your girlfriend you utter the words "Trust me" she nods and holds you. You swing her body up as she jumps. Mid air she extends her feet and decks both thugs before they can arrive.
You let Carla down on the ground, and she lands on her feet. The other criminals near the truck get alarmed and soon more start pouring from it and other vehicles. There's way too many and most seem armed.

"calling yourselves Lunatics is a real laugh!, Its like you have never met someone that was actually insane!."
"And dealing and mugging in the middle of the street. Its like you have never found a real cop. Where i come from we would've thrown you out an airlock"
>>
Grabbing the knife the leader let fall and lifting him by the collar of his clothes you put the knife to his throat and immediately the thugs stop advancing. Some even drop their guns.
"Dealing and mugging in the middle of the street. Its like you have never found a real cop. Where - I - come from we would've thrown you out an airlock" well that's not true, back on Earth you'd just beat them up.
Still makes for a scary little story. However, it's not enough to intimidate them. Carla looks to you as if waiting for your next step. Well, as a great man once said: criminals are a cowardly and superstitious lot.
"Calling yourselves Lunatics is a real laugh! Its like you have never met someone that was actually insane!" they start murmuring, some look to their boss as if waiting for instructions.
How loyal of them. "You don't take another step or I'll rip this guy's head off. Trust me, I've done it before, ripped skull and spine out" the criminal band is definitely intimidated by your words.
"That's fucking bullshit!" the Lunatic boss shouts "How would - you - know?" he laughs "I fucking tried it before pig, you can't do that. I had to buy industrial equipment just for it"
"Well, sure you can't do it bare handed but I was wearing power amour" he pauses to consider "Yeah okay. Fair enough, go on" to which Carla replies with a "What the fuck are you two doing?"
-
"Look I'm just saying if you're going to burn someone to death it's way more horrific to put them in a furnace and heat them up than to just light them on fire" you can't help but you shake your head.
"No you see, the shock factor of seeing a guy in flames is just the best. I mean, sure if you want to put the dying man through more crap go for the furnace but if you want to scare his buddies, burn him"
"Okay, I can see your point. Still, burning is pretty low tier as far as execution methods go" you feel a tap on your back. "Are you two gonna keep talking about this crap or can we retreat now?"
"Just one more second honey" you flip the knife in your hand before returning it to Terry's throat. Yes the lunatic leader is named Terry "Knives, my friend. Those are very high tier. Can't beat knives"
"I disagree. You know what's better than knives? Spikes. You see my uncle used to run with the Impalers, an old school gang of ex-military men, so he and his buddies..."
-
>>
>>1030259
"You are cool guy, Phil" you nod "Yeah you aren't so bad for a crook either" you shake hands and head to different directions. "Boss ain't we gonna shoot him?" you hear the sound of Terry slapping one of his henchmen.
He really is a nice guy, even if he is a crazy murderous psycho. "Look, if he gives us trouble again I'll kill him. It's no biggie" Plus he promised he'll cut down on the drug dealers, he was already getting tired of their shit since his men started taking it.
Can't be crazy if you're too doped to give a shit after all. "I can't fucking believe what I just witnessed" Carla continually shakes her head and tries to form words, but her lips fail her.
-
"So, we still have a romantic dinner before our date is done, do you want to pick the place or should I?" she smiles "I want you to surprise me, as you always do"

Once you drop Carla off at the apartment you rush out to buy what you needed. It wasn't exactly a lot and you might have founded it at home, but you wanted to make sure you wouldn't be negatively surprised.
Shopping went fast since most everything is automated if not done remotely nowadays. Running home was also pretty fast considering your continuous training regimen, specially the 'cardio' with Carla.
Making dinner? Easy as pie. Though you're unsure of what she'd like so you make everything: homemade pizza using your mom's pizza dough recipee, meatbread, steak, fries, spaghetti to drop,
hell you even bake a goddamn cake, and to top it all off you make two full plates of 'snacks'. You're afraid you're making so much food you'll both be too bloated to get it on later in the night.
"Phil?" Gomez comes into the kitchen and looks around "Damn, is all of this for just you and Carla?" you turn to face him, roses and candles in hand "No. I made extra for you guys, I'll set it up in a bit"
-
You made a table on the living room for the guys, last you saw they were drinking and playing pool while eating the meal you prepared. They made sure to call you 'Master Chef' a couple of times.
Next order of business was the table for you and Carla. You had to opt between a few different spots, but ended up picking the balcony in the main bedroom. It's got a nice view. Like the ship's it hides the filth.
Carla came out of the bath not long after you had set things up. She looked at the nice white cloth, the tons of food both junk and regular, the candles, the rose petals. "That's... romantic" she let out softly,
you were busy looking at her. Somehow she found a nice dress among the stuff Duke had left around. It wasn't girly for a dress, long sleeves extending out of its main body that hugged her figure tightly.
You however were wearing a food-and-sweat covered tank top, the one you wore under your clothes all day long. She rushes to your arms anyway, kissing you passionately for long enough that you're worried the food might get cold.
"I love it. I love it all" she gives off pure happiness with a beautiful smile that doesn't budge and eyes that reflect the light of the candles, shining ever so bright, specially as the night sets in.
