You and everyone else begin to walk to the elevator on the 3rd floor. When you arrive, you see that Monoscrap is already there waiting. As soon as everyone arrives, Monoscrap does a quick head count and opens the elevator doors. Although it’s only one extra floor, the ride up to the roof feels significantly longer and you are almost relived when you hear the doors start to open. Everyone steps off the elevator together and arrive on the roof. The dark sky seems like it is ready to start raining and you briefly think about how it is always cloudy when you look up at the sky. Like last time, a series of podiums are arranged in a circle atop the skylight, but now it appears that Monoscrap took the time to add a few more to include the new students. Your eyes are drawn to the hole where Jenny stood last time and you feel a lump in your stomach just thinking about how this could end.

“Let’s get this show on the road!” Monoscrap says cheerfully as he walks past all of you, sits in his chair, and reclines as if he were about to watch TV. “Come on everyone, take your places and put on the ‘no running away from fate’ shackles around your legs so that we can get this show on the road.”

All of you silently do as you are told and get ready for the next trial.

Rules for trial:
>In a trial, the choices will be much more limited and be unlike the normal quest. The two biggest changes are that “write in” will no longer be an option and there is a right and wrong choice. Each round you will be either asked a question or find a statement that is contradicted the provided evidence. You have infinite guesses, but with each guess wrong you will gain a point. If by the end of the trial your points are less than a certain number, you will be rewarded with an extra “something” that adds to the main mystery.

Goal: Finish trial with less than 7 points.

Nonstop debate 1:

The Twins: So where should we start?
Gabriel: How about how he was murdered?
Frank: You mean if he was murdered.
Brittany Ann: What are you talking about? He’s dead, so he must have been killed.
Frank: I’m saying that he might have tripped and impaled himself.
Jeremy: I don’t know, there’s no evidence that he tripped.
The Twins: Maybe we should think about this a little more.

Please state the incorrect statement and the evidence that proves it.

“I remember differently!” you shout at Jeremy. “There is evidence that he could have tripped on his way down the escalator. Jordan’s body was found at the bottom of the escalator going up. It’s possible that he decided to go down it because it was closer, and tripped because of it.

“So it really was an accident?” Mercedes asks.

Reginald shakes his head. “I’m not so sure, perhaps we need to talk more about how he died.”

Nonstop debate 2:

Chuck: What’s more to say? The guy tripped and stabbed himself, case closed.
Frank: Yeah, everyone knows going down the up escalator is dangerous, so while running down the steps he tripped.
The twins: When he fell, he could have mistakenly let the rod get plunged into his stomach.
Svetlana: If he fell onto his own weapon, that would explain how he ended up like a human tripod.
Gabriel: Face down, on his knees, held up by the rod, and the sharpened tip pointing in the air. What a way to go.
Reginald: No, there’s something in that story that don’t add up.

Please state the incorrect statement and the evidence that proves it.

“I remember differently!” You shout and point to Gabriel. “One of the floor tiles was cracked from the spike at the end of the rod being plunged into it, so the spike had to be pointing down. Since Jordan was face down when I found him, the rod must have been plunged into his back.” You then spin around to point at Frank. “Also, the emergency stop had already been pressed, so the escalator wasn’t moving down while Jordan was on it.”

“So, ummm what does that mean?” Brittany Ann says with a puzzled face.

Svetlana turns to the cheerleader and wags her finger. “Weren’t you paying attention? He couldn’t have tripped and fell on his own weapon if it was pushed through his back. If it was an accident, then it would have been pushed through his chest.”

Slate nods. “Honestly, the idea of this being an accident was a little hard to buy. Especially when you think about how his body was set up when Samantha found it.”

Frank shakes his head. “So, the killer set up a red herring that we almost fell for. It’s good we can move past that, but we’re still at square one.”

“Not really.” Reginald chimes in. “We can at least reduce the number of suspects. We already know that Samantha, the twins, Brittany Ann, Slate, and myself were all on the 4th floor. At the same time, Chuck, Svetlana, Mercedes, Frank, Gabriel, and Jeremy were on the 3rd floor. Jordan was killed on his way between the two floors. There are two pieces of evidence that suggest that whoever killed Jordan was on the 3rd floor before the murder.” He then looks to you. “I’m sure you can guess what I’m talking about.

This is a little embarrassing on my part, but I forgot to establish a something back in part 5 and forced me to do a quick rewrite. That resulted in an error on my part, so both those answers are correct. Originally frank said something else, but that’s irrelevant now.

You take another moment and then answer. “So, both the emergency stop switch and the location of the body.”

Reginald smirks. “Yes. Jordan was found at the bottom of the down escalator, and the only explanation for him to have been on it would be that he was the one who pressed the emergency stop switch. Since we now know there is a killer, it is obvious that he met someone half way up the escalator and they fought and caused the damage to the middle section of the escalator. Only someone from the 3rd floor heading to the 4th could have met him half way. The only question is, who would have had a reason to go to the 4th floor?”

Nonstop debate 3:

Chuck: That’s easy, it was Jeremy.
Jeremy: Wait, why me? I didn’t do it.
Chuck: You live on the 4th floor, yet you spent a good amount of time on the 3rd yesterday. You probably were on your way back to the 4th floor when you ran into him.
Svetlana: That is believable. Most of us stick to our own floors, so she would be the most likely to travel between them.
Frank: Now we should focus on how she did it.
Jeremy: I told you, I didn’t do it! You have no proof that I was going to the 4th floor at that time.
Chuck: Nor is there any proof that you were anywhere else.

“I remember differently!” You shout and point to Chuck. You then turn to look at Gabriel. “You said that you were with Jeremy at the candy store at the time of the murder, didn’t you?” You frame this as a question for dramatic effect, however, you already know the answer thanks to your memory.

Gabriel blinks and then nods. “Yes, we were in there for a while. I can vouch for her not being the murderer.” The Grand Faith folds his arms and shakes his head. “Still, I can’t think of anyone who would have had a reason to go to the 4th floor.”

“Then perhaps we should look at this another way” Reginald says. Everyone’s focus is on Reginald and seeing his signature smirk tells you that he still confident in his conclusion. All he’s really doing is dragging things out for his own amusement. He looks around before continuing. “Not much time could have passed between the time the murder occurred and when Samantha found the body, so the killer couldn’t have gotten too far.” He then pulls out one of the maps of the 3rd floor that Monoscrap had given out. “As you can see, there aren’t many places the killer could have gone in that time. The farthest he could have gone in that time would have been the candy store, but we already know that Gabriel and Jeremy were already in there. He could have also gone the other way, but Chuck would have seen him. That means there is only one place the killer could have been, inside the Game Stop. All the killer would have had to do would be hide in the store and slip into the crowd while using the discovery of the body as a distraction.”

Svetlana slams her fist into her palm and her eyes light up. “So, you’re saying that the killer lied about where he or she was. That means all we have to do is find out who wasn’t seen arriving at the crime scene.” Reginald nods.

Nonstop debate 4:

Svetlana: I was in the bathroom, but I did see Mercedes leave the sports store.
Mercedes: I was relaxing at the Dick’s and saw Gabriel and Jeremy leave the candy store.
Chuck: I was taking a walk on the east side, so I was the first to get there, but I didn’t see anyone.
Frank: Same here. I was in the bathroom. I was kind of in the middle of it, so I got there last and didn’t see anyone arrive.
Gabriel: We were at the candy shop, and we didn’t see anyone on our way there. When we got there, Chuck was already there, but that’s all I know.
Chuck: So, the people who are accounted for are Gabriel and Jeremy, as well as Mercedes. Frank always tells the truth, so he’s out. I’m in the clear, so that leaves Svetlana as the only one who no one saw arrive.
Svetlana: Wait, there’s more to this, I’m not the killer!

State the incorrect statement and the evidence that proves it.

>>
>>1041739
“I remember differently!” You shout and point to Chuck once again. “Gabriel only said that you were already there when he arrived, but he didn’t say that he saw you get there. So, it’s possible that you’re the killer, right?!”

Chuck’s eyes grow wide and he stumbles back. “What?! I’m not-” “Yes you are.” Reginald interjects. The Grand Prodigy’s smirk quickly grows into a smile that is almost too big for his face. “Chuck, you said that at the time of the murder, you were talking a walk around the mall. Earlier I said the killer was at the Game Stop because he couldn’t have gone to the candy store and you would have seen him if he had gone the other way. However, that theory no longer matters if you are the killer. I don’t know if you really did go to the east side of the mall or hid in the game stop, but either way, the observations made by everyone else would have been the same.”

You watch as Chuck’s composure is drained away. The self-proclaimed leader of the 3rd floor tries to take a step back, but he finds himself unable to thanks to the chains around his ankles. “No, I’m not the killer, it has to be her.” Chuck then points at Svetlana again.

Reginald scoffs. “Really, I had hoped you would give me more of a challenge. Svetlana is innocent because she said something that she would have only known about if her statement was true. I’m sure you can guess what it is.” Reginald looks to you. It’s clear that almost all of Reginald’s cards are on the table and now he’s just toying with Chuck before he can deliver the final blow.

What does Svetlana know that proves she was at the bathroom?
>She understood that the murder couldn’t have been an accident
>She had been with Chuck during the investigation
>She saw Mercedes leave Dick’s

Going to cal it here for tonight.
See you guys tomorrow.

>>1041739
The memory advantage is referring to how the killer has some sort of unfair advantage over everyone else because he/she has his/her memories back.

>>
>>1041934
>>1041971
You turn to Reginald. “I’ve got it! She saw Mercedes leave Dick’s. If she wasn’t at the bathroom, then she wouldn’t have known that Mercedes was there, so she must have saw her.”

Reginald nods. “Even if she was the killer and was hiding in the Game Stop, Svetlana wouldn’t have been able to see Mercedes without being seen walking away from the area. Through process of elimination, the only person left who could have killed Jordan is Chuck!”

Chuck stumbles and uses his podium to support his weight. “N-no, this isn’t right! Why would I go up to the 3rd floor? You can’t be sure I did it if you can’t answer that right?”

“I think I have an answer to that.” Frank says. “Before everything happened, Gabriel warned me about Jordan and begged me not to say anything to Chuck till after dinner. I told him I needed some time to think it over and asked for some time alone. In the end, I decided that it would be best to let Chuck know, so I stopped by Dick’s and told him. He then got up and left saying that he would deal with it. I didn’t think much about it till now, but that might have been the reason he was heading to the 4th floor.”

Nonstop debate 5:

Reginald: There you all have it, the final nail in Chuck’s coffin.
Chuck: What?! No, I didn’t know anything about Jordan, he’s lying.
Slate: Don’t bother, Frank’s the “Grand Truth Teller”, everything that comes out of his mouth is 100% true.
Gabriel: Yeah, everything Frank said matches with what I remember.
Jeremy: All you’re doing is saying whatever it takes to make us doubt the possibility.
Frank: It’s over.
Reginald: We have proven you could have been there, and are the only one who could have at that.
The Twins: You had a reason to go to the 3rd floor.
Brittany Ann: And you’re strong enough to have over powered him.
Svetlana: So, that’s it?
Reginald: Yes, there’s nothing left to explain, it’s time to vote.

State the incorrect statement and the evidence that proves it.

>>
>>1044363
Well, there is something else
The emergency stop button was at the top of the escalator.
That means that someone from the fourth floor could have pushed the button and made him fall down the stairs, then went down and finished the job

In which case i change my vote for
>there’s nothing left to explain
>Location of body
>>
>>1044363
>>1044374
“Wait!” you shout and point to Reginald. “We still haven’t explained why Jordan was at the bottom of the escalator going up. The emergency stop button was pressed on the 4th floor, so someone on the 4th floor could have pressed it while he was going down and forced him to fall.”

Reginald blinks, slowly puts his palm up to his face, and then takes a long breath. “We went over this. Jordan had to have been the one who pressed the switch, why else would he have been on the escalator going down in the first place? Even if that were the case, the way the metal rod was positioned proved that someone pushed it through him, so the killer would have still had to have gone down to the 3rd floor and been counted as one since the up escalator was blocked off by you, and they would not have time to run up the down escalator.

>+1 point

You feel humiliated by this error, but you can’t help but feel like there is still more to this. You go over everything in your head one more time in hopes of finding something.

“I remember differently! There is something you missed.” you shout and point to Reginald. Both his eyebrows are as higher than you’ve ever seen them and his mouth is slightly ajar. There is a sudden silence before he finally speaks. “What?” You look Reginald in the eyes and repeat yourself. “I remember differently. There is something that still hasn’t been explained. This morning, I asked Monoscrap why we had to wait overnight to start investigating, and he said that it was because he needed time to give the killer’s memories back. However, Monoscrap also said that those memories also gave the killer an unfair advantage over all of us during the trial.”

Everyone turns to Monoscrap who holds his thumb up to confirm what you’ve said. Everyone’s attention shifts back to you and you continue. “Ever since those memories were returned last night, the real killer has been playing us all for fools thanks to that advantage. A few moments ago, the killer finally slipped up and used that advantage one too many times.” Chuck’s eyes widen and you can tell he knows what you are talking about. You nod at him and look around at everyone. “If I didn’t know about the advantage, I would have never even considered the possibility, but now I get it. The real killer is the only other person who could have been at the escalator when Jordan was killed, and I know it is!”

Who is the killer?

You turn to look at Slate. You know he can’t be the killer since he was with Brittany Ann. You know that the real killer was on the 3rd floor. Also, something within the killer was drastically changed by Monoscrap returning those lost memories. There is only one person who has had a significant yet subtle change in behavior. You were the only one who knew to look for signs of someone having an unfair advantage, but thanks to Chuck, you know who it is.

“Frank! You’re the killer, aren’t you?!” You point at Frank dramatically. Despite being accused of murder, Frank smugly smiles and his eyes look glassed over as if he’s half asleep. You are unsure how to interpret this sudden change in mood and decide it is best to keep your guard up. “So, what?” He says in a way that conveys a new-found boredom. “We’ve already proven that Chuck is guilty, but now you suddenly turn and accuse me out of nowhere? Come on, you have no proof, there isn’t one thing that points to me. Really, if I have this so-called advantage, what is it?”

>>
>>1049176
You smile and reply. “Simple, you can lie. I can’t think of a more unfair advantage than having everyone take your word as fact no matter what. That’s probably another reason Monoscrap made us wait, if the ‘Grand Truth Teller’ was the killer, he would be found out in 5 minutes. I don’t know what those memories held, but I do know that whatever it is, it made you able to lie. Perhaps you’re now the Grand Liar!”

Frank lets out a loud laugh and grips his podium with both hands. “Nice try, but that’s just speculation. You still have no solid proof that I told a single lie.” Before you can even react to the sudden burst of energy, Frank quickly returns to looking completely uninterested in everything around him.

“That’s not true!” You look to see that Chuck has regained his composure and is looking angry. “I already called out your lie. You said that you had told me about Jordan, but that never happened.”

Frank rolls his eyes. “You think your word is any good? Come on, you’re the killer, you’ll say anything to shift the blame. You already tried to get Svetlana to take the fall the moment you became a suspect. There not one reason for anyone to take your word over mine.” Frank’s glassy eyes shift their focus to you. “I’m growing board of this.

Reginald takes a long breath and looks to you. “I find this difficult to believe, but there is no harm in indulging you at this point. I doubt it will change anything and there is nothing left for us to discuss.” He then turns to Frank. “Frank, go over everything that happened between your talk with Gabriel and the murder. Taking one last look at it should put any doubts of Chuck’s innocence to rest.”

Nonstop debate 6:

Frank: Come on, me? I’ve never told a lie in my life.
Chuck: Now that’s a lie if I’ve ever heard one.
Slate: Both of you shut up. I’m getting a headache from your fighting. Just get on with it.
Frank: Fine, Gabriel told me about Jordan and asked me not to tell Chuck. I told him that I needed to think about it.
Frank: In the end, I decided it was best to let Chuck know, so I went to Dick’s.
Frank: I told him everything, he thanked me, and left.
Frank: After that, I just hung out there until I had to go to the bathroom.
Frank: I was in the middle of it when I heard the scream, so everyone was already there when I arrived.
Brittany Ann: That all sounds right. I don’t think he’s lying.

“I remember differently!” You shout. Frank eyes remain half open, but seeing that one of his eyebrows has now been raised gives you confidence that he doesn’t know that you’ve caught him in a lie. “You said that you met with Chuck at Dick’s, and you stayed there after he left. However, there is proof that’s a lie.” You look to Mercedes. “Mercedes, just say yes or no. You said that you were alone in the sports store, right?”

Mercedes blinks and then nods. “Yes, I was but-” You quickly hold your hand up and cut her off. “Thank you. I’ll let you finish in a minuet.” You point to Frank. “If you really were at Dick’s, Mercedes would have seen you.”

Frank’s board façade starts to crack and his eyes grow wide. “W-well, she said that she was alone, so that must mean that she went there after I talked with Chuck. Now that I think about it, I remember seeing her walk in right before I went into the bathroom.”

You shake your head. “Sorry, but that’s not true either. Mercedes was in the store when Chuck left, and she was going to say before I cut her off. Isn’t that, right?” Mercedes nods. “She would have seen you if you really did stay afterwards. Face it, your lies are all falling apart!”
>>
>>1049505
Frank starts to shake and grips his head with both hands. “No!”
“You knew about Jordan, so that’s all the reason you needed to go to the 4th floor.”
“Shut up!”
“On the way on the escalator, he came running at you. You panicked.”
“I said shut up!”
“You tried to defend yourself, but ended up sending him falling down the escalator.”
“This is all in your head!”
“You then set up the body to throw people off, but you were afraid of people asking you questions.”
“Can’t you see that Chuck did it?!”
“So, you hid in the Game Stop just like Reginald originally suggested.”
“Stop making things up!”
“And while we were all distracted by the body you just slipped into the crowd.”
“I told you to stop!”
“You must have been relived when Monoscrap said we couldn’t ask questions till morning.”
“I didn’t do it!”
“And when you woke up remembering everything, you must have been ecstatic.”
“I’m telling the truth!”
“I’m sure being able to lie again must have felt great.”
“Why won’t you trust me?!”
“You were free to throw us off your trail and tried to make us think it was an accident.”
“You’re supposed to believe everything I say!”
“When that failed, you told a few more lies to help Reginald prove Chuck was guilty.”
“I remember now! I saw it happen!”
“But you ended up getting trapped in your own web of lies.”
“You did it! I saw it happen! YOU’RE THE KILLER!”
“Frank, you’re the one who murdered Jordan!”
“NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!”

“That’s a wrap kids!” Monoscrap says and jumps off his throne. You see Frank fall to his knees as Monoscrap start to hand out notecards and pens. The votes are quickly cast and collected in compete silence. Monoscrap quickly flips through the cards and then throws them in the air. “And the killer is, FRANK! Good job, another case solved!” The bear cheerfully says as you watch one of the cards drift down the hole that Jenny left behind. Monoscrap jumps back on his recliner and looks around. “So any one have some last words for poor Frank before he bites the dust?

You catch one of the cards fluttering in the air. Swiftly, you crumple it up and throw it at the bear, but it fails to go far enough to hit him. “This is all your fault, not going to humor you in your sick game.” You shout in rage.

“Is it really his fault?” You turn to see that Frank has returned to his board facade. “From what I understand, the first death was a fool’s escape attempt, and the following execution can be justified because of it. That loss is what pushed Jordan over the edge, and resulted in his death. If anything, I would say that Monoscrap’s hands are clean.”

Brittany Ann slams her fist on her podium. “How can you say that?! You’re about to be put to death! Why are you so calm?!” You can see that the cheer leader has begun to cry.

Frank shrugs. “What can I say? Having my memories returned to me gave me allowed me to regain my true outlook on life. There is no real value in a human life and we are all better off dead. I was doing you all a favor by trying to get you killed. I know what’s coming, this has all happened before. Even if you survive, you will only find suffering.” He then turns to Monoscap. “If no one has anything else to say, I think it’s time for this bootleg bear to get it over with.”

Frank is about to be executed. What will you say/do? This is the last chance to do anything.

“How is this not his fault” you shout at Frank. “He’s the one who put us here! He’s the one who told us to kill each other! He’s the reason any of this is happening!”

The ‘Grand Liar’ shrugs. “It’s just how it is. You’ll understand if and when you learn about everything you’ve forgotten. Still, lying is what I do now, so who knows if there is any value to my word. I could tell you everything right now, and you wouldn’t know if it was the truth or not. At this point, Monoscrap’s word is more trust worthy than mine. All you can do is wallow in your own self-pity and despair until you finally see that I was right.”

Rain start to softly fall down and you can’t tell if you are crying or not. “No, we still have a glimmer of hope. I know we can survive this. Goodbye...Frank.” A silence falls over the rooftop and all that can be heard is the sound of rain and the crackle of Monoscrap’s speakers.

Finally, the bear breaks the silence. “Well now that all the good byes are done, IT’S PUNISHMENT TIME!” You suddenly hear a rumbling coming from the edge of the roof, and then you see it. From over the walls that surround the edges of the roof, you see a wave of Monoscraps climb over and start running towards Frank. Some are different colored, some have missing arms or heads, and some are missing almost all their fur, but they are unmistakably made in Monoscrap’s image. They swarm around Frank and start dragging him off the skylight and towards a fenced off area at back of the roof.

Just as the bears drag him through the fence and lock the door, the chains on everyone’s ankles come undone and the whole ‘class’ rushes over to the edge of the fence. Just in time to see Frank be tied to a wooden post. Two canisters of gas are then thrown over the wall and the Monoscrap hoard stars to drench his lower body in gasoline. Time seems to move slowly as they make a circle around Frank. In each of their hands is a lighter. In unison, they all throw their lighters at Frank’s gasoline soaked paints and hold hands as they catch on fire. Despite the rain, the fire quickly engulfs all of his body. The smell of burning flesh fills the air and you fall to your knees. Suddenly, more containers of gas, bottles of lighter fluid, and bags of charcoal are thrown over the wall and the Monoscrap’s rush to add it all to the fire. The blaze grows hotter and hotter until finally, countless fire extinguishers are thrown over the wall. Quickly, the swarm of bears pick of the extinguishers snuff out the flames and climb back over the walls. All that is left of Frank is a pile of blackened bones.

Slowly and silently, everyone walks to the elevator and retunes to the 3rd floor. The residents of the 3rd floor walk back into Dick’s while the rest of you go up to the mattress store to rest. On your way up the escalator, you can see the pillar of water crated by rain water falling through the hole in the skylight. No one does anything for the rest of the day, and you decide to go to bed early.

The man in rags sits on the floor of the parking garage looking at the sealed door. Around him are 5 people all wearing black and white hooded robes. They are all face down in puddles of blood. The doors one again open and the robot bear waddles out. Monoscrap looks at the motionless bodies and shakes his head. “I knew I should have installed turrets here out. Still, I’ve got them set up on the other side of the door, so it’s not like you can get in anyway.”

The man in rags stands up and points a small pistol at the bear. “How many? It’s been a few days since you came out, so I’m going to guess it’s happened again.”

Monoscrap giggles. “Come on, I know you’ve got this whole gruff and gritty persona, but don’t bother trying to intimidate me. I’m able to see right through people who are a broken as you are.” Monoscrap takes another step closer. “So far, almost a 3rd have bit the dust, and just to rub salt on the wound, the editing process is going much faster than anticipated.”

The man in rags puts the pistol down. “Fake ideas are not as effective as you think. I will stop you.”

Monoscrap shakes his head from side to side causing the joints in his neck to screech. “Sure you will, sure. Honestly, the idea of being able to triumph over you is one of the best motivations I have now.” With that, Monoscrap walks back through the doors and the man in rags sits back down as the sound of the locks echo through the garage.

Alright, while I draw up the map of the next area, it’s time once again to roll to see who dies next!

For anyone new, here’s the rules. Fist you pick a student and roll a dice+1d10. The first post to roll a 10 is the one that will be our next victim. Rerolls once a half hour.
Since we are already this far and still have so many students left, this time I’ll be needing to kill off two characters, so the first 2 posts to roll 10 will decide.

Chapter 3: I will protect you because I know you will do the same - Daily life
Start

You wake up to the light shining in from your bedroom window. Slowly you rub your eyes and get out of bed. You can faintly smell bacon and assume that your father must be cooking some downstairs. After what happened on the news, your mother doesn’t want anyone leaving the house until this all blows over. You won’t complain about a reason not to go to school, but you feel uneasy about everything that’s happened. Still, it was all the way in Japan, so there’s no real reason to be afraid.

What will you do?

You follow the smell of bacon and head downstairs into the kitchen. No sooner do you walk through the door way do you stop dead in your tracks. S͉̜̗o̧̺͍̝̠̮̩̯͡m̡̨̻͇͈͖͕͝è̫̪͚̪̙͢t̨͕̜̳̤̤̭ḫ̵͘i̡͎͉̭̗̬̖͖͖n̨͏̳͖̝g̴̶̙͍͇͈̘͚̦̱̳͠ ̵͏̣͔̭̜ì͙͕s̲͈̩̀͜ͅ ̟͚̖͎͍̤͙͠w͖͔̫͙̮͎͇͘ŕ̭̬͇̜̩͢o̡̨҉̺̟͉̩̭n̤̝̯̣͘͜͜g̛̗͙̻̻͍̺.͙͓̼͔͙ ̣̤͎̣

Slowly your father turns around and you stumble backwards in fear. He’s wearing a mask, the same mask you saw others wearing on the TV yesterday. Or was it last week? Maybe last month? Y̸óu̧͘͞ ̵̧c̨an̨’t̵͘͟ ̧r̷̴emem̷̀b͟e̷͘r̴̷. The eyes of the black and white bear mask almost seem to glow as he draws closer. In one hand, your father has a knife and the other a frying pan. Finally, you build you the strength to scream. “MOM!”

The thing that was your father laughs as black liquid leaks out of the mask’s mouth. You don’t know what it is laughing at until you look at the kitchen table. You see your mother sitting in on of the chairs, but something is wrong. There’s blood and parts of her are missing. For some reason, your brain can’t process what it is looking at. Everything you know feels like a lie. You do your best to get up and run away from whatever has taken your father’s place, but something stops you. As much a everything in your body is telling you not to, you look to see that hands have burst through the floorboards and are holding you down. The masked lunatic jumps on top of you and holds the knife to your neck. Slowly it puts its moth to your ear. You can feel the black liquid dripping on to you as it whippers, “H͏̮̻̬͓̀o̸̙̥̪̜̲̤̙̹͚͓̦͓͔͍͓̣͘͝ͅṕ̸̵̢̡̞͔̻̗̳̙̣̱̪̟̙̝̙̙̹ę̸͚̘̙̥͕͍̣̖̠͝ ҉҉͖̙͕̳̩̘̮̻͔̥w͍̰̲͙̳̰͎̬̠̣̭̲̤͔͉̮̕͠͠a̸̶̧͏͇̰͖̻̤̮͕ş̫̼̱̦͙̲̼́͟͝͡ ̡͖̪̹̫̝͙̙̳͈̙̩̟͔̮̜̠͇͟͠ͅa͏̷̨̗̤̩̭̪̹̟̝͇̘̼͔͇̞͡l̵̢̧̳̻͈̼̞̜̲̱̜̘̺̭̫̟̞͎͡w̢̛̹͇̟̦̭͠a̵̵̘̪̦̭̤̖̲̯͚̰̙̯̞̦͢͜y̸̫̜̻̱̖̪̪̹̗̫̗̱̼͖̬̻̤̕͜͡ͅs̴̸̢̬̮̘̘̙̺̠͖͓͇̘͎̻̯̹͟͠ͅ ̖̯͕͚͈͈̩̕͜à̷̷̳̻̳̦̤̳̻͚͍̙͖̹̤̥̟̙͢n҉̵̮͔̰͔̰̱͈̤̺͔͞͡ ̠͓̞̗̱́͢ͅͅį͉͇̤̗̣͎̲͖̗̪͉́l̷̨̖͔͕̝͇̳͖̯̬̼l̻̭̘͎͚̻͍͇̠̬̼͜u̝̫͓̝̗̮͈̤̤͘̕͡s̢͉͉̫̫̯͍̦̼̠̜͠͞í̸̶̧̧̯̲͉͚̰͚̤̥̪̰̪̖̞͚ờ̵͕̺̮̬̼̠͇̥͘n̵̡̲̩̩̪̭̮͚̟̞͇͕.̡҉҉͎̪̥̞̹͓͇̣̣ͅ”

You wake up with sweat pouring down the sides of your face. You shutter thinking about that nightmare and try your best to get it out of your head. At the foot of your bed there’s a note. Looking for anything to get your mind off of the dream, you snatch up the note and read it.

Good mourning kids.
Get it, because you’re still in pain over yesterday? Anyway, everyone come to the escalators on the 3rd floor as soon as you get ready. A breakfast of scrambled eggs and updated maps will be provided.

You get out of bed and go take a shower. As you walk to the bathroom, you see that a few beds are already empty and assume that some of you “classmates” have already started to head down to the 3rd floor. Knowing that everyone is waiting on you, you decide to take as quick a shower as possible and are done before the conveniently located clouds of steam grow too large. Before heading down, you do your daily calisthenics, a habit you’ve struggled to keep ever since this whole mess began, and grab all the items in your inventory aside from the bat.

Down on the 3rd floor, everyone has gathered around the escalator leading to the 3rd floor. Monoscrap seems to be making eggs on a portable grill, and if you didn’t know about everything that had happened, you would almost think it was a nice sight. As soon as you are about to grab a plate, Monoscrap swiftly grabs the grill and throws it over the railing. Before the grill hits the ground floor, you are already letting out a sigh of disappointment. “Alright kids, now that everyone’s here, we can finally get going.” Monoscrap says while handing out paper to everyone.

The bear then removes the flimsy barricade that was blocking off the 2nd floor and motions everyone to follow him. As you and the rest of the “class” descend, Monocrap starts speaking through a megaphone that only amplifies the cracks in his voice. “Welcome to the 2nd floor! Feel free to look around to your heart’s content. The 1st floor is still on lock down, but that shouldn’t stop you from enjoying the new luxuries available. If you need to ask me anything, I’ll be in the record store acting as the DJ for the dance party to celebrate the deaths of everyone who’s passed.” As soon as everyone steps foot on the 3rd floor, Monoscrap runs off leaving all of you to explore.

“So, I guess we should all find a buddy to stick with.” Brittany Ann says uneasily.

Reginald scoffs, “Why? I think we should know by now that the buddy system is not going to prevent any more deaths.”

Slate shakes his head. “It’s possible that there are more residents on this floor just like last time, it might be best to have partners until we’ve fully investigated it.”

Everyone starts to partner up and go in different directions. The twins form the most obvious group, and you also see Jeremy dragging away an unwilling Gabriel with his arm forced between her oversized breasts. In another direction, you see Slate, Brittany Ann, and Mercedes walking away. Your heart stops. Franticly you look around hoping that your worst fear has not come true. Just as you feared, Svetlana is the only other student at the escalator. You stumble back a little and start to take deep breaths to calm yourself down.

Seeing your distress, the ‘Grand Puzzler’ walks over to you and puts a reassuring hand on your shoulder. She does her best to smile. “Come on, let’s go investigate the music store. Maybe we can shake some clues from Monoscrap.” You nod. Considering the circumstances, it is best to start exploring the floor as fast as possible.

Outside of the record store, you can hear music playing and the lights inside are flashing between a neon blue and a black light. The music, isn’t what you expected from the “dance party” Monoscrap described. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QVi6j8OEk94

At the back of the store, Monoscrap is behind a turntable with headphones on. Looking around, you can see that the selection of music is only vinyl, so odds are the CDs you've collected have not come from here. Along the walls of the store, what you hope are fake skeletons are held up by string and seem to be moving along to the music.

You look to Svetlana who is in just as much shock as you are. You and Svetlana quickly make your way to the cinema. On you way you turn to her. “So, what’s your deal anyway?” You ask trying to find something to get both your minds off the dance party. She shrugs. “What do you mean?” You point to her hat. “Well out of everyone here, you have the most conspicuous outfit, and what’s the deal with you getting the title of ‘Grand Puzzler’ anyway?”

“Oh, well I guess that does seem a little out of the normal.” Seay says and lets out a small laugh. “I don’t know, as a kid, I spent a lot of time alone with only the daily newspaper. Like most kids, I only cared about the comics section, Heart of The City was always my favorite. Anyway, I just started doing the crossword and Sudoku every day and started to get really into it. Next thing I knew, I was spending my money on twelve sided Rubik’s cubes and anything that could test my brain. I think it was one too many play thoughts of Professor Layton that made my get this hat, but the coat I got just to always keep a few books on me at all times.” You nod and feel like you understand the girl a little better.

You two arrive at the movie theater and look around. The place is trashed. Spots of the carpet have been removed, the display case for the snacks have been smashed, and some of the lights are flickering. There is a sign that lists 5 theaters, but the playing movies have all been scratched out besides theater #3 that says out of order.

You and Svetlana walk deeper into the cinema to investigate theater #3. “So, what’s up with you and Chuck?” You ask as the two of you get start going down the hall. She shrugs. “Nothing really, he thought that my puzzle skills could be useful for the trial, so he tagged along to make sure nothing would happen to me during the investigation. That’s all there is to it.”

“But you two seem so close.” You say as you reach the theater. The doors to the room are locked and a note is placed on the door. [This is for when it’s time for the final boss. No peaking. -Monoscrap] Both of you know better than to try to force your way in, so you start heading to theater #1. Svetlana shrugs. “Us? Close? Come on, if there’s anything going on between people here it’s you and Reginald.”

“Why does everyone keep saying that!?” You stomp your food on the ground in frustration.

Svetlana is surprised by your reaction and takes a step back. “Oh, sorry. It’s just that it’s kind of obvious that he’s REALLY into you. Come on, he won’t even give anyone else the time of day, yet that snob follows you around like a lost dog. While we are at it, what’s the deal with that shady kid and the cheerleader? They are always together.”

You shrug. “Not sure what’s going on between those two. He seems kind of protective, but I think it’s just an innocent friendship.”

“Maybe your right she says, but there are you people that I know have something going on, and it’s mostly one sided.” The two of you walk into theater #1. As soon as you open the door, you hear someone yell. “HELP!” A female voice then shouts. “Oh no. I’ve been waiting for this. You’re not getting away that easily!” Both of you run into the theater and stop once you see what is going on.

Gabriel and Jeremy are both on the floor of the theater. The ‘Grand Deviant’ is panting as she pins the innocent ‘Grand Faith’ to the floor. You watch in horror as she licks his face and wraps her arms around him as he hopelessly tries to escape her lust.

You roll your eyes at the sight. “Girl, reel it in. I know he looks so pure and innocent that even I have been tempted to defile him. But you could at least buy him dinner first.” You say as sarcastically as possible. Jeremy jumps off the now immobile body who has given up escaping the despair of the girl’s lust. “I-I didn’t think anyone else was in here. Besides, I did buy him dinner.” She then points to a half-eaten bowl of popcorn and a collection of candy. “The display case was already messed up, so it only took one swing of my bat to get it open.” Shen then walks up to you and whispers in your ear. “Look, between you and me, I think he’s into this whole me seducing him and him pretending not to like it thing.” You hear groaning and look behind Jeremy to see Gabriel slowly start to craw to the far side of the room.

Svetlana steps in. “Really? It looks to me like you were about to- ummm…” The girl then makes a series of suggestive gestures with her hands.

Jeremy looks surprised for a moment and then quickly becomes angry. “WHAT?! NO! NO, NO, NO, NO! I would never! What kind of woman do you take me for! If he wants it I better be getting a ring! Besides, Monoscrap banned me from removing my pants off around other people for some reason, so even if I wanted to do something like that I can’t.”

You are genially surprised by Jeremy’s reaction and suspect that there is something more to her obsession with sticking things into her body. It looks like there isn’t anything worth investigating here and you should move on, but you are unsure what to do about Gabriel and Jeremy.

All of you head up to the 3rd floor. Like the lower level of the cinema, there is a significant amount of damage everywhere you look. As all of you draw closer to the final two theaters, Jeremy speaks up. “Hey, there’s only 2 left, how about we split up into 2 groups so we can get this over with faster?”

Svetlana takes a moment to think and the nods. “So far, this place has been safe, so I think it’ll be fine. Still, to be safe, I think I’ll take Gabe with me.”

The ‘Grand Deviant’ rolls her eyes. “Fine, just don’t think of doing anything.” You and Jeremy then head off to theater #5. As soon as you open the doors, you feel like something is off. The lights are dimmed, yet there is nothing showing on the screen. You are about to say something when Jeremy clamps her hand over your mouth. She whispers as quietly as possible. “Be quiet. You hear it too, right?”

When you had first entered the room, you hadn’t heard it, but now that you stared to listen for something, you could hear what made Jeremy act up. Faintly, you can hear someone snoring. Every hair on your body stands up and you feel cold. In the front row, someone appears to be sleeping. You can see is a hood over the person’s head, but you can’t make out anything else. For a moment, you consider the possibility of it being Slate, but you quickly dismiss the possibility when you remember that Brittany Ann was with him. Whoever is in the theater with you is not anyone you know.

You are unsure about what to do. You want to go get help, but if you leave, there’s no way of knowing that the person will still be here when you get back. You also don’t want you and Jeremy to have to face this person alone. Never the less, there is a good chance that whoever this is, you could get some new information about what’s going on.

What will you do?
>attack the person
>sneak up to get a better look
>call out to the person
>go get help

After a moment of thought, you motion for Jeremy to follow your lead. Slowly, you creep up to the hooded figure as quietly as you can. Jeremy grips her bat in preparation for what could happen and follows a few steps behind you. When you get to the front row, you can see that the sleeping person is a woman in her late 20’s or early 30’s. You can’t see her face thanks to her hood, but you can tell that she is wearing some kind of robe that covers her whole body. Before you can decide on your next course of action, you hear a loud pop. Spinning around you look to Jeremy, who staggers backwards and drops her bat with a clang. At her feet is a bag of chips that has been bust open on both sides, and you instantly conclude that was the cause of the pop.

You quickly return your gaze to the woman, and freeze in fear. She is looking at both of you, and even with her hood pulled up, you can still see her wide eyes. All three of you stay silent for what might be either seconds or hours. Finally, the woman opens her mouth and feebly speaks. “You shouldn’t be here.” Suddenly, her eyes widen even more and her voice gets much louder and is obviously panicking. “Wait, is it already time? Oh god. I need to get out of here! He’s going to-” The woman slams her hands over her mouth, jumps out of her seat, and bolts for the door.

What will you do?
>chase after her
>try to call her to come back
>get the others to come help
>stay where you are to be safe
>write in

“Hey, come back here!” you yell at the woman. Unsurprisingly, this does not work. By time the two of you are on your feet, the woman is already out the door. As you exit the theater, you see the woman run past Gabriel and Samantha while they are leaving theater #4. “Stop her! She has answers!” You yell as you hopelessly try to catch up. However, this does little good and by time the two of them realize what’s going on, the woman has already sprint around the corner. All 4 of you continue to pursue the woman despite her rapidly growing lead. Finally, you lose sight of her as she runs out of the main doors.

Everyone runs out of the cinema and starts looking around for any sign of the woman while they catch their breath. You don’t like this one bit, and it’s reminding you too much of what happened with Jordan. You start walking towards the railing while thinking things over. There is no telling where the woman could have gone at this point. She could have run into any of the stores or could be hiding on the 3rd or even the 4th floor. You consider the possibility of her going to the 1st floor since it is forbidden, but you doubt it. Monoscrap said that everyone who step foot in the mall would become part of the killing game, so by that logic she would also be bound by the same rules.

Frustrated, you turn around to head back at the movie theater to see if there was something you missed. However, before you can take 3 steps, you hear a whoosh followed by a splat and crunch. Your heart stops. You run back to the edge of the railing and look down. On the 1st floor, the body of the woman is face down in a pool of blood. You feel sick upon seeing one of her legs is still twitching, and you fall backwards onto the tile floor. All the answers you hopped to find are gone.

This thread is almost over, this is a good stopping point, and I could use a break.

I'll call it here for the thread and be back in a few days (around 3 or 4). I'll send out a tweet the day before the next thread is made.

Also, before anyone asks. No, there is not going to be a trial, that one doesn't count. the railing was involved, so nothing happens.
