>>Information

This quest, as the title suggests, takes place in the world of Dragon Ball. You're playing as a twenty-two year old man named Tofoo, and will adventure through the story of the Dragonball series alongside characters such as Goku, Yamcha, Bulma, Tien, and many others. Through your actions, you can make significant changes to the story, and perhaps even become the strongest fighter on Earth.

>Rules

At the end of each update you'll have ten minutes to vote on options. Write-ins are allowed, but I do reserve the right to veto them.

In the event of a draw, the option to receive the next vote wins

Rolls will be used on certain occasions, such as attempting a technique for the first time or attempting something extremely difficult. You will have three rolls, and if one succeeds, you succeed. There are no crits.

Rolls are made AFTER an option wins, not during the voting process

I hope everyone has fun.

The day is nearly here. You've trained as hard as you possibly can, making use of your wife's new gravity chamber to increase your speed and endurance. You've prepared for this tournament with the intent of winning it.

And you aren't alone.

Piccolo, Tenshinhan, Chaozu, Lapis, and Launch have returned, their mission a success. The Black Star Balls have been returned to the Lookout, where Kami hopes their existence will eventually be forgotten.

Of course, the Namekian and former Crane Students vowed to compete, and have thrown themselves into their own training.

Strangely enough, Lapis seems to give off a more noticeable energy signature now. You wonder what exactly went on in space, but the others don't seem too interested in talking about it.

Yamcha is competing as well, but has also been given a spot on a baseball team called The Titans. He never goes to practice, but apparently dominates virtually every game that he's in. He's bought a nice house in West City, and you're pretty sure that soon Lazuli will be moving in with him.

Today, on the day before the tournament, you consider what to do. You've done all the training you can, and actually damaged the gravity room pretty badly yesterday. So, you'll have to find something else to occupy your time.

You haven't seen Roshi since you were on King Kai's World just after being killed by Freeza. From what you hear, none of the others have, either. You suppose that it's worth swinging by to see if he's around.

"I'm taking Trunks for a trip," you tell your wife as you retrieve your son from his crib.

"Alright, just try not to get into any trouble while you're carrying him," Bulma tells you. "You may be able to take a bomb to the face without flinching, but he can't."

Promising that you'll do your best to keep him safe, you carry your son outside, preparing to take off before another idea comes to you.

"DARK NIMBUS!" you shout up at the sky.

Trunks looks up at you in confusion, then watches as a dark cloud descends from the sky, coming to a stop in front of you.

You hop aboard the cloud, and tell it to take you to Roshi's house. The Dark Nimbus takes to the sky, and Trunks looks around with wide eyes.

"One day, you'll be able to fly like this," you promise your son.

You aren't entirely sure if he understands, but he smiles when you say it, so you choose to think that he does.

The Dark Nimbus might be slower travel than flying, but you still reach Roshi's house rather quickly, hopping off of the cloud and approaching the front door. You knock, but receive no answer.

Moving off the porch, you look through the window, and see no signs of Roshi, nor any sign that anyone's lived here in quite some time.

"Oh, hello Tofoo," a voice says to your right.

Turning toward it, you see Turtle crawling toward you, looking up at your face with his usual expression.

"Hmm...I think he said something about some kind of training," Turtle tells you after a moment of thought. "But I haven't seen him in months. I'm sure he's alright, though."

He crawls a little closer, smiling up at Trunks. "Hello."

You set Trunks on Turtle's back, and the infant laughs, moving his tiny hands around to touch the back of Turtle's head. Turtle smiles at your son, and looks back at you when you ask a question.

"Do you know what kind of training Roshi was doing?" you ask him.

"Not really," Turtle admits, shaking his head. "See, some man in a martial arts uniform came here looking for him. When Roshi saw him, he went nuts. He ran right up to the man and bowed in front of him, and seemed really surprised that he was alive. They talked for a little while, then went off together."

"Did Shen go with him?" you ask.

"I don't remember seeing him," Turtle tells you.

Trunks slides off Turtle's back, landing in the sand. He giggles to himself, reaching forward and running his hands through it.

"Do you need anything?" you ask Turtle as your son plays a bit.

"Not really," Turtle answers. "I'm a simple turtle. I'm just glad to have visitors every once in a while."

Turtle seems happy enough to just laze around Kame House and wait for Roshi to return. You pick up Trunks, bid him farewell, and climb back aboard the Dark Nimbus, taking to the air once again, and this time setting course for the Lookout.

As the cloud carries you and your son in the direction of the Lookout, you see a massive cloud of smoke rising in the distance, seeming to be coming from a forest you can just barely see.

While you are curious about the fire, you aren't about to bring your son into it. Holding him close, you ride the Dark Nimbus with him, flying over the Sacred Land of Korin, and rising to the top of Korin Tower. The Nimbus continues climbing, leaving the massive structure so far below that you can't even see it anymore.

Upward and upward you climb, until you finally reach the Lookout, where you find Popo tending to his plants as he so often does. He turns away from his gardening when he sees you land, a small smile coming to his face when he spots you and your son.

"Tofoo, what brings you here?" he questions, setting down his watering can and strolling over.

"I thought it would be neat to show Trunks some of the places that I visit," you tell Popo. "Oh, and by the way, you wouldn't happen to know what's causing that large amount of smoke below in the forest, would you?"

"It sounds to me like a simple forest fire," Popo answers, not sounding too concerned. "Why do you ask? Did something seem odd about it to you?"

"Not really," you admit. "But I'd still rather not let something like that go on. Can you watch Trunks for a bit while I go put a stop to it?"

"Alright," Popo says, taking your son from your hands.

Little Trunks stares up at the strange creature, clearly not knowing what to make of him. Popo stares back at him blankly, the two not making a sound toward one another.

As their strange meeting progresses, you move to the edge of the Lookout, deciding to give the Dark Nimbus a break and jumping off the side. You let yourself plummet for a bit, before unleashing a bit of your energy and flying in the direction of the smoke.

Upon reaching your destination, it appears to you that Popo was correct. The forest is burning. Animals run for cover in a panic as the flames spread. It's a sad sight, but you aren't sure how to put the fire out.

Wait a minute, you seem to vaguely recall a mountain that was on fire when you were a child. Someone put it out...but how? You remember a flash of blue, the Kamehameha, perhaps?

After taking a moment to confirm that there are no people, and as few animals as possible within the blaze, you gather energy into the palms of your hands, cupping them together as a ball of blue light appears between them.

You're careful to restrain your power, as too much could cause far more damage than any fire. Saying the word, you thrust your hands forward, unleashing a blue beam of light, which strikes the blaze and eliminates it, while also reducing the area to ash.

The fire's been halted, and the rest of the forest saved.

With the forest fire dealt with, there's little sense in lingering. You turn away from the blaze and fly toward the Lookout, making it back in a short period of time, and finding both Popo and Trunks right where you left them.

Mr. Popo holds the infant, staring at your son as he stares right back. The two don't say a word to one another, and the whole thing seems a bit odd to you.

You direct the Dark Nimbus down toward the redheaded woman and the large android, hopping off and approaching your two friends, who grin upon seeing you.

"Hey, Tofoo!" Suno greets with her usual cheery disposition, picking up her shovel and coming running over. "Who's this handsome little man you brought with you."

She reaches out, gently touching Trunks' nose, and your son laughs, reaching with his tiny hands to grab her finger.

"So, this is your son, huh?" Suno asks, smiling at the infant. "Not sure if I said it before, but congratulations!"

When Trunks loses interest in her finger, she steps back, allowing Eighter to get a look at him.

"Hello there," the android says in a gentle voice.

Trunks looks up at the machine, not seeming sure what to make of him. But, after a moment of staring up at Eighter, your son smiles.

Cool, for a second I was going to suggest bringing Kori to Krillin's house so the kids could spar a bit against each other.

>>1069528
"Did Krillin and Chichi come with Konattsu?" you ask.

"Nope, she flew here by herself," Suno answers. "Not much different from what you, Goku, and Krillin were doing when you were kids, is it?"

"I guess not," you answer.

Taking to the air, you fly to the forest, following the explosions of energy to the location where the girls are sparring.

They battle above a frozen lake, zipping through the air and colliding in great bursts of energy. Kori seems to have lowered her energy to fight a more even battle with Konattsu, and the other child is certainly giving her a challenge.

While Konattsu may not be able to measure up to Kori in power, her technique is superb, and it actually seems that she's gained the upper hand over the other girl. Using a feint attack, Konattsu finds an opening and lands a solid punch to Kori's chest, knocking her back.

Kori grins at her opponent, looking ready for more until she spots you out of the corner of her eye.

"Uncle Tofoo!" She shouts, flying over and landing in front of you.

"Hi, Mr. Tofoo!" Konattsu calls cheerfully, coming to land beside her friend.

Trunks looks at the two girls, laughing and reaching toward them. They smile at the baby, fussing over him for a moment before looking up at you.

"Did you come to train?" Kori asks excitedly.

Anon, we must ensure the Tofoo bloodline will stay strong. By marrying all the strong girls of his generation, we guarantee Trunks's children will also be insanely powerful. Besides, Tofoo played matchmaker with goku and krilling when they were young and it worked, surely he can work his tofoo magic to get those naive kids into promising to marry Trunks in the future

"That's right, I did," you tell them. "So, are you two planning to compete in the tournament?"

They nod eagerly.

"Yeah!" Kori says, closing her hands into fists and pumping her arms. "I can't wait to fight all of the strongest people in the world!"

"My dad says that the World Martial Arts Tournament is great training," Konattsu adds. "He says his teacher had him compete to get stronger."

"So, if we compete, maybe someday we'll be stronger than all of you!" Kori says with great excitement.

"Maybe some day," you concede. "But for now, do you girls want to spar?"

Kori lands beside her, shaking her head. "No way, me first!"

"How about a little test?" you suggest.

The girls look at each other before looking back at you.

"What do you mean?" Konattsu asks.

"When your dads and I were kids, Master Roshi threw a rock with his name on it into the woods," you explain. "Whoever found it got to eat, and the others had to go without dinner."

"So, you want us to chase a rock?" Konattsu asks, not sounding enthusiastic.

"You're going to take away our dinner?!" Kori shouts in surprise, looking ready to start throwing punches at you.

You chuckle. "Not exactly. I want the two of you to come at me. Whoever lands the first hit gets to spar with me. The other has to hold Trunks."

The girls look at each other, then, without saying a word, drop into fighting stances. Kori charges right at you, and you take to the air, holding a laughing Trunks as you evade the Saiyan's repeated strikes. She seems quite determined, and each attack comes a little closer to hitting you.

But, it's not Kori who strikes you first.

Something cold and wet hits you in the back of the head, and you turn to find Konattsu grinning at you, holding a second snowball in her hand.

While your back is turned to her, Kori kicks you in the back of the head, sending you straight toward the ground. You roll over to protect your son, and land on your shoulders, sliding through the snow before coming to a stop.

Trunks sits on top of you, laughing and waving his arms around happily.

"Yes! I did it!" Kori shouts.

"No you didn't!" Konattsu shouts up to her. "I got him first!"

Kori looks down at her, putting her hands on her hips. "You hit him with a snowball, I actually hit him!"

"So what?" Konattsu responds. "He said whoever could land a hit first wins, he didn't say we had to use our hands or feet!"

"Konattsu wins," you say as you get up, putting an end to the argument.

"No fair!" Kori protests, growling as Konattsu sticks her tongue out at her.

"Sorry, Kori," Konattsu says with a shrug. "But you can go next. I'm sure I won't last very long fighting Mr. Tofoo."

Kori lets out a sigh, walking over and taking Trunks from your hands. The baby smiles up at her, and the frown slowly comes off of Kori's face. She carries your son away, leaving you facing Konattsu.

Dropping into a defensive stance, you decide to simply take a basic defense as your approach, opting to parry virtually every attack made by the girl.

When Konattsu starts her attack, it seems that you've chosen well. She seems to fight much like her mother, with furious, precise strikes that would spell near-instant defeat for most foes. However, your speed is superior, allowing you to fend off her attacks. At least, initially.

Konattsu's attacks continue, but as you parry a kick she throws, she brings up her other leg, putting her feet side by side, and unleashing a bright, blue beam of light from them, striking you in the face and knocking you to the ground.

This has the additional effect of propelling her body far away from you, and when she lands, she immediately throws a barrage of energy blasts your way.

Extending a hand, you unleash a fast volley of energy blasts to meet Konattsu's, the detonation creating a cloud of smoke which obscures you from sight. You rush forward through the cloud, coming out the other side and finding Konattsu on the move. You quickly catch her, only to notice that her energy is moving away from where you see her.

Changing course, you catch the girl, the Afterimage she attempted to fool you with fading away as you give a punch that knocks her into the snow.

Konattsu smiles, her cheeks turning a bit red. "Thanks, Mr. Tofoo."

"Can you go on?" you ask as she gets back on her feet.

She nods, and the two of you resume sparring. She's got the ferocity of her mother, and the cleverness of her father, making her a dangerous opponent. Were your powers equal, she might actually be able to defeat you. Still, you're strong enough to withstand her attacks, and you've fought Krillin, and fought beside him plenty of times. Soon enough, the kid burns herself out, descending to the ground and falling to her knees as she tries to catch her breath.

"My turn!" Kori shouts, handing Trunks off to the other girl before rushing over toward you.

She reminds you so much of her father. Smiling, you tell her to show you what she's got.

Kori grins. "Okay."

She locks her elbows at her side and lets out a yell. Trunks watches in surprise as the snow around her begins to melt. You can see her aura flaring as her power shoots up, reaching a very impressive level. She seems even stronger than she was on Namek.

You drop into a defensive stance, deciding to see what Kori will do if given the chance to make the first strike.

Unsurprisingly, she isn't exactly hesitant to attack. She rushes at you, striking you with her full power in a rapid series of punches and kicks, putting a great deal of power into each strike.

And that's where you see a problem very quickly.

She has the power, but lacks the proper experience and technique. It seems that Goku's training with his daughter up until this point was lacking in that regard. Odds are that, in preparation for the Saiyans, he focused on increasing her power as quickly as possible. She may be strong, and you can tell that she has a lot of natural skill, but her technique doesn't measure up to the truly great warriors you've fought.

As Kori continues her assault, you decide to show her why relying on overwhelming force is not the best strategy. Each time she moves to strike, you strike first, giving jabs before she can raise a fist or pull back her leg.

As this continues, Kori seems to grow more and more frustrated, gritting her teeth and letting out little hisses whenever you land a hit on her, or cut her off from attempting one of her own.

Finally, you seem to push her too far.

After one of your jabs, Kori cries out in rage, and a massive surge of energy accompanies that, throwing you backward and causing you to land on the ground a few feet away. Konattsu shields Trunks, the two of them quickly being pushed back by Kori's overwhelming power.

As you pick yourself back up, you find Kori staring at you with pure rage in her eyes, and you know she's preparing to attack.

"Not bad, Kori," you tell the girl, who continues to look at you like she's about to put your head through a tree. "That's a lot of power, probably more than you know what to do with. That kind of power's more dangerous than its worth if you don't know how to control it."

Locking your elbows at your sides, you use the Kuma-Ken, your own power rising to far surpass Kori's. "But when you learn how to control it, you can do amazing things. I'll teach you how to focus your power, and once you can do that, you'll be a great warrior."

Kori blinks, and that massive surge of strength seems to fade in an instant, almost as if it was never there to begin with. Her power returns to normal, and even she seems confused by the sudden change.

You drop out of the Kuma-Ken, taking a moment to consider what kind of power that child just displayed. Had she fought you with that kind of strength without you using the Kuma-Ken, you probably would have lost. And she's only what, five or six? You aren't sure if it's her Saiyan blood, or just the fact that she takes after her father, but Kori has some astounding potential.

Your eyes move to Konattsu, who stares at you and Kori with shock. Her own power is incredible for her age, and she's shown to be taking after her father when it comes to clever thinking. She's already a force to be reckoned with, who knows how she'll be as an adult.

And finally, your eyes rest on your son, a one year old who has already seen so many incredible things. Between your strength and your wife's brains, there's no telling what kind of person your son will become. Maybe he'll be the greatest of them all.

One thing's for sure, the next generation will be worth watching.

They day has finally arrived. Today, you will compete against the greatest fighters in the world to decide who the best martial artist on the planet truly is. You've trained hard for this, given everything you have to prepare, and now you feel that you're ready to stand up to the competition.

You're up bright and early, changing into your uniform before the sun even rises. Bulma groans for you to go back to sleep, since you don't have to be on Papaya Island until ten in the morning. But, you're too wired to sleep, and leave your room, running around the grounds to get yourself ready to go.

As you run near the front entrance, you spot Yamcha jogging down the street. Your eyes meet, and your friend waves to you, hopping the fence and walking over.

"Up and at 'em early, too?" he asks with a smile. "I guess I'm not the only one with some nervous energy to burn off."

>A. It's the World Tournament, there's plenty to be nervous about

"I'm not nervous," you tell him. "But things seem to go wrong at these things a lot, so maybe I should be."

Yamcha chuckles nervously. "Yeah, hopefully we won't have to deal with Piccolo trying to take over the world at this tournament."

Nodding in agreement, you continue. "I'm just excited. What about you? Did you get back into your training? There's going to be a lot of good competition this year."

"When I've had the time," Yamcha tells you, leaning on the white picket fence at the edge of your property. "Between practice, games, and dates, I haven't had as much time as I'd like, but I'm back in shape, at least."

The two of you decide to go for a job together, and leave Capsule Corp, dashing around the city side by side, tempering your speed with the need to not crush pedestrians. As the two of you travel through the city, glances over at you.

"This isn't going to be the same without Goku, is it?"

>A. Nope, the rest of you actually have a chance now

Yamcha laughs. "What makes you so sure that you're going to win? Between me, Krillin, Tenshinhan, Chaozu, Piccolo, and ten other competitors, you might have your work cut out for you."

"Ten others?" you ask.

Yamcha nods. "They've changed the tournament up a bit this time around. They want bigger crowds, so they're advertising a lot more. They're also making sure that the tournament only lasts a day, and increasing the amount of competitors to sixteen so people can get their money's worth, and the vendors can sell more."

"I can handle all of you," you tell him confidently. "And you forgot Kori and Konattsu. Trust me, they have a chance of beating us if we slip up."

Yamcha shakes his head. "That's the thing, kids can't compete with the adults anymore. Now there's a junior division that competes before the actual tournament."

"Sorry, but no," he tells you as he leaps over a man's head. "They want bigger crowds, and they don't think they'll get that if there's a bunch of grown men beating up children."

Depends who they market to, really. Still, you see the point.

"Kori and Konattsu won't be happy about that," you tell him.

"Yeah, but on the bright side, one of them is bound to win," Yamcha points out. "So at least there's that."

You decide to keep jogging for a bit, and as you run with Yamcha, an idea comes to your mind.

"Okay, hear me out," you say to Yamcha. "What if Kori and Konattsu stood on each-other's shoulders and wore a disguise? Then they could compete in the tournament."

"I don't think that would work very well," Yamcha tells you, chuckling at the thought.

"Yeah, there's no place where something like that would actually work," you agree.

The two of you share a laugh, and continue on your jog before parting ways and heading to your respective homes. By this time, the sun is finally rising, and when you enter Capsule Corp and make your way to the family area, you find your wife awake and in the shower, while Trunks continues to sleep soundly in his crib.

"Trunks and I are going to take the airship there," Bulma tells you from the shower. "Are you coming with us, or are you going to fly there?"

"I'll ride with you guys," you tell her.

"Great," you hear her call from the shower. "I'll wake Trunks when I'm done in here, then we'll get ready and go."

A couple of hours later, you find yourself sitting beside Bulma on her airship, holding Trunks so your wife can focus on flying. Oolong sits in a seat behind the three of you, hands behind his head and eyes closed.

"Wait, so Kori and Konattsu have to compete with other children?" Bulma asks, having just heard the information you got from Yamcha. "That doesn't sound like much fun for them. It's just going to turn into them fighting each other, and they do that every other day."

"Maybe Kori and Konattsu will be able to prove that kids can fight with the adults," you suggest.

"I'm sure they'll prove that they're no ordinary kids," Bulma tells you. "And they'll make the junior division less unbearable to watch."

"What do you mean by that, Bulma?" Oolong asks.

"It's going to be full of kids whose parents forced them to compete, or who have no idea how to fight," Bulma answers. "Goku and Krillin learned from Master Roshi before their first tournament. Tofoo went out into the world and went on adventures. These aren't going to be those kinds of kids."

"I'm sure there'll be at least one worthwhile competitor among them," you say with optimism.

Bulma sighs. "I hope so. But that's not what's important. The actual tournament is what I'm going to see. Hopefully, this time I'll see my husband take home the grand prize."

>A. You'll do your best

Bulma smiles, and the rest of the flight passes peacefully.

Papaya Island is as busy and bustling as you remember it, the large city near the tournament grounds clogged with traffic as people from across the globe make their way to the World Martial Arts Tournament. Luckily, you're able to help your family out with that, carrying them above the crowds and traffic until you reach the grounds.

There, you find even more stalls than you remember, selling merchandise ranging from t-shirts to cars with the faces of various competitors plastered to the side. A few people seem to recognize you as you pass (though there's just as much of a chance that they're recognizing Bulma), and you spot a few news vans at the edge of the grounds, with reporters scurrying around in search of something to put on television or in the paper.

"I wonder if the others are here yet," Bulma says as you make your way toward the stadium.
