This is The Fighting Quest. This quest is based on the manga and anime series Hajime no Ippo. The series focuses on the sport of Boxing, and the relationships of the athletes and their supporters. In this quest you'll play as a sixteen year old boy from Japan, but which character you play as will cause the beginning of the quest to vary considerably. There is a choice of three boys to play as, each one fairly distinct from one another. While they each may be unique individuals, they will all be drawn to the sport of boxing. Specifically the Featherweight class.

For those familiar with the series, the player will be discovering boxing a short time before Itagaki goes pro. This is a considerable time after Ippo, the main character of the original series, becomes the Featherweight Japanese Champion.

The first choice of the Quest will determine your player character, his physical attributes, and where he lives. These will all have numerous effects on your starting career as a professional boxer.

>A. Riku Fujita. Age 16. Highschooler with a penchant for getting into brawls. He lives with his mother, step-father, and older sister. Riku is 5'3, and 134 Lbs. Due to spending a fair amount of time outside, his skin is somewhat tanned. His black hair is short and shaggy, and his eyebrows are a little bit bushy. His cheeks appear rounded and soft. He has naturally broad shoulders, and is built to be stout.

+ Brawler. Limited fighting experience.
+ Powerful. His broad back carries heavy weight, despite a lack of physical conditioning.
-Slow
-Poor Cardio
--Family is poor.

>B. Kaede Kita. Age 16. Highschooler, studious and well rounded. He lives with his father, and little brother. He's 5'5, and 123 Lbs. His lower body is strong and well developed from playing soccer for years. His hair is brown with a copper tint. He's conventionally attractive for his age. His skin is lightly tanned.

+ Good Cardio
++ Strong Legs
+Athletically inclined
-Weak punches
-No fighting experience
-Family is middle class.

>C. Yuuta Yamamoto. Age 16. Highschooler. Likes video games. He lives with his mother and father, though he's an only child. He is tall for a Japanese boy, at 5'9. He's just as notably, thin, however, at 129 Lbs. His hair is medium length and completely unkempt, and his eyes continually seem tired from exposure to a screen.

+ Left handed
+ Long arms
+ Good natural reflexes
++ Family is very wealthy.
-Poor Cardio
-Poor Strength
--No predisposition to athletic ability at all.

Fucking Ippo quest, let's go!
>>
For those wondering about Naruto Quest, and for those interested in this quest, I want to note this is something of a teaser. I'll be running this thread mostly for set up, and to talk about the idea, but as planned on Tuesday I'll run Boruto Quest.

As we're approaching the mid point of Boruto Quest I feel like I'd like to take a small break from it, so when that time comes I'd already like to have this idea established so we can smoothly segue into that.

Your name is Yuuta Yamamoto.

Right now, wearing your black highschooler's uniform, you're on your way home from school. You've got your books slung under one arm, and your hand in your pocket. You can't help but walk with a slight slouch that you've grown accustomed to. It's getting to be late in spring, and soon enough, the first school year is going to end. Overall it hasn't been a bad experience for you. High school wasn't the big change you were expecting.

Looking off, you can see the skyscrapers of Tokyo in the distance. You've lived in this city, with your parents, all your life. The way the stone constructs jut into the sky makes you think of them as artificial mountains. In some of those mountains, your dad is the feudal lord. A powerful, well connected businessman who wants his son to go to equally high places in the world. He met your mother through work, and she has a similar mindset. They wouldn't want anything less than the absolute best for their son.

You gulp, swallowing your own saliva. That's why you're particularly worried about the report card for the quarter that you're carrying. Your grades aren't bad, but they're not the stellar results you know they want.

A short while later, you come to the bus stop. Your parents always tell you to call a taxi, but frankly, today you don't mind waiting. There's something comfortable in moments of transit for you. You can just let go, and start thinking about what you'll do when you get home.

Most of them include playing games of some sort, and chatting with your buddies who do the same. Your lower class friends have it easier as far as you're concerned. There's not nearly as much pressure to grow up and become something great!

You sigh whilst stepping off the bus. Walking down another block, you pass a bum sitting in an allyway.

He holds up a metal cup, and gestures it towards you. Looking down you catch a tiny glint in his eye. He's noticed you've looked.

"Change?"

You've got about 10k yen in your wallet, comprised of various sized bills. (This is roughly 90 USD)

You don't want to be rude. You give him enough money to get a snack or a drink with, and go on your way. Behind you, you hear the man chuckle and call out. "Thanks a bunch, kid."

That man is the last thing on your mind, however. You keep walking until you reach a nice area of town, and the road leads to a series of homes with high fences. Unlocking the front gate next to a similarly gated driveway, you step through and start up the concrete steps until you reach the front door. It's made of an authentic, cherry colored wood. The concrete structure in front of you is designed with elements of modern art, leading a clean cut, futuristic look. Your dad always did believe what those marketing dudes told him.

As expected, the house is empty and quiet when you step in. You take a few measured steps towards the kitchen, and flick on the light. It flutters to life, and the sterile room is illuminated. Looking around, you sigh and pick an apple out of the fruit bowl. You're familiar with how this process goes.

You set the report card on the kitchen table. You can't help but notice the tips of your fingers are sweating a little bit. Is it possible you're nervous? Of course you are. But you just push it from your mind, and like most things, choose not to dwell on it. There's something waiting for you upstairs, after all.

Rushing upwards after devouring the fruit, you plop down in front of a Playstation 2 and pop in the newest RPG. Last night it took four hours to get through the introduction, so you're happy to really dig into it now. Over the next few hours you play away, immersing yourself in the characters and world of the game. You completely forget about the worries of the day. Whether that's the lack of friends you made this year, your poor grades, or the impending conversation..

It all passes by you in an instant. Before you know it, you turn off the game and crawl in bed. You're asleep for maybe an hour or two before the front door opens. You're still asleep.

Your dad picks up the report card, and tears it open. Glossing over it, he immediately starts his way upstairs, not bothering to be quiet. The pounding footsteps wake you up, and a terrible anxiety seizes your chest. It's happening again. Sometimes in life, there's things you just can't shut out and ignore.

He opens the door to your bedroom, and flicks on the light. You groggily sit up, and rub your eyes. "Eh..? Welcome home, dad?"

You feign ignorance, initially. Though you already know what this is about. He throws down the report card on the bed. "What the hell is this, Yuuta? What do you have to say for yourself?"

On the report card, there's one A, two B's a C, and a D.

You gulp once, trying to find time to form a thought. You say the first thing that comes to mind. "I really tried as hard as I could!"

It's not true in the slightest, of course. You love goofing off more than anything, and it's just your natural talent that's let you skirt by so long in school. But as things get more difficult, it's becoming apparent that without extra work you'll be little more than mediocre.

Looking up, you can tell that your dad isn't impressed with your answer. He's heard this one time and time again, in fact. You might be just as tall as him, but your father was hardly as inactive a teen as you are. Many, many times he's tried to be direct with you and to get you to focus on your studies. It's clear to him that you don't have any talent in terms of social skills, or working with your hands.

Fear rises up in you as he starts to undo his belt. "Dad, I promise I'll improve by next quarter!" His face remains stone and dark.

He pounds his fist on a nearby desk, shaking everything on it. "ENOUGH! Yuuta! You've been saying that again and again, but every year it gets just a little bit worse! I can't allow you to keep disrespecting your father like this!"

You want to say that he's wrong. That you're not disrespecting him, that you really are trying your hardest. You want to tell him about how all the kids at school being mean to you make it so much harder, but you know that's not really the issue at hand. You sit up and stand across the room from him. "Dad, come on!"

He steps forward. "I'm not going to let you break your mother's heart like this, damnit!"

He's not lashing you with the buckle end, so it's honestly more the shock of being hit that's bothering you. There's a stinging slap on your hip, and you put your arms over your head to cover up. Frankly, you've got no idea what to do. He's never done anything like this before, and you've never dealt with this kind of pressure. Kids at school might push and bully you, but never hit you. They know who your dad is.

Tears start to well up in the corner of your eyes as you're being punished, and you feel like more of a loser than ever. All of it bears down on you until the weight becomes insurmountable. You suddenly lunge forward and push your dad with all of your might, knocking him off of his feet and out of the way.

You storm down the stairs and out the front door, running at full blast to the sidewalk. You just want to get away. You just want to run away and stop thinking about all of this, you don't even care where you go.

Taking off down the street, you run as hard as you can. Your long legs let you make huge strides, covering a surprising amount of distance. It takes only a few seconds for your total lack of exercise to seize you however. In seconds snot and tears are streaming down your face as you comically gasp for air with every step. You've gotten maybe three blocks away from your house.
>>
>>1079481
You cough and sputter as you dip into an ally, barefoot, wearing your pajamas.

You sit down suddenly, breathing heavily. Your side stings, and it takes ages for you to recover. You don't even notice the other people in an ally.

There's the flickering of a lighter, and it illuminates your face for a brief moment. A strange smelling smoke wafts over to your face, and a group of three older delinquents catches your eye. It's your highschool's uniform. The tallest one, a little larger than you but much thicker, marches over. "What the hell..you spyin on us, punk!?"

From the scent, you know it's not tobacco. If you had to guess, these kids are smoking drugs. What the hell!? This sort of thing doesn't happen in Japan!

Your nerves have never been worse in your life. If you weren't already a sloppy wreck before, you certainly are now. You can only do your best to beg your way out of the situation, but it's frankly unintelligible.

"Habeeb, I..uh, didn't see..dad..I can, uh, I'll go...home?" You say, a slow, crooked grin crawling on your face. You just want to get the hell out of here.

The bigger boy pushes you back. "Let's beat tar out of him, and get out a' here. Can't have him keepin' his memory.."

They all start to march towards you slowly.

Your teeth chatter several times as you attempt to respond, but nothing squeaks out. Electing to make the smartest move you can at the moment, you turn around and start to run away. You might be completely out of breath, but if you can at least get out of the ally into the open, someone driving by would surely help.

It's about two steps before your foot gets hooked on something long and heavy. You've got no idea why you're tumbling forward as your balance is thrown out from underneath you. As you're falling, things almost seem to happen in slow motion. Underneath you, you can see the very same bum that you gave some change to earlier, buried in garbage. You didn't see him at first when you ran in here.

Your elbows hit the rough concrete, scraping them both quite hard. You ignore the pain and stand up, although the sight of your own blood freaks you out enough to give you pause.

The the thug behind you boots you in the ass, prompting you to fall face forward into a puddle. He takes another step forward and pushes your head down into the water with his foot.

It's not deep enough to actually drown you or anything, but it's really, really disgusting.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QPvvtn1VAIQ

Nearby, there's a soft rustling. While the other two thugs grab your arms and hold you down, behind you, the bum climbs out of his pile of garbage. You can only glance at the man through the corner of your eye, the street light behind him casting a shadow over you. He struggles to stand with what is clearly a bum leg, and he holds out one hand to balance on the wall. The other hand is holding a bottle in a brown paper bag, that he drops.

Tears well up in your eyes for any number of reasons. Fucking bum spent the money you gave him on liquor. Why? Why the hell does this world have to be so shitty? With your face down here in this puddle, you wonder if there's even any reason at all to live life. Maybe if this is what the world has to offer you, you'll just stay shut in your room forever.

As a dark wall closes around your mind, a rough, sickly voice pierces the veil. The streetlight hits your face like the light of a sunbeam as the bum steps forward with his shitty leg, dragging it along. "Kids today.."

"HAVE NO RESPECT!!"

Suddenly he charges in, and tackles the biggest boy. Jumping onto his back, the bum starts letting punches fly. The first few disorient the teenager he's leaning on for support, smacking him in the face.
>>
>>1079586
>o

The others start to stand up, but using the bigger kid for leverage, he pushes off of him and smacks a squishy face with a messy right hook. They all get off you, and you scramble away for maybe a foot or two as the scene unfolds. The bum's back hits the wall, and he looks down at you.

Here, the eyes of a fortunate son and a bum meet. Between them a similar sensation of despair crosses. You can tell the old man wants to pity a loser like you, but that he has no place.

It's all he can do to set an example, then. The bum pushes off the wall again, and tackles the last kid to the ground. He starts swinging left hooks into his face again and again, pinning him on the ground.

Suddenly, the leader of the kids breaks the liquor bottle on the wall. He holds the bladed object towards the man, and it seems he's going to rush him.

>>
The boy hefts the bottle over his head. The one who'd been hit with a right seems completely knocked out, so it's a two on two now. Isn't it?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mXV7YiX9LDo

You glance down, your vision strangely acute from the adrenaline. There's a chunk of concrete broken off of the corner of the ally, and you pick it up and grip it tightly. Slowly but surely, you pull your hand back and line up the shot. You're going for the face, of course. "Look out, old man!"

He turns up just in time to see the bottle falling down on him. You pitch the rock as hard as you can, although it's a bit of a poor throw. The rock hits the kid in the stomach ineffectually for the most part. If anything, the only thing you did was surprise him. But that's gonna be good enough for the moment.

The old man somehow ducks under the swipe of the bottle, while sitting up onto his knees. The teenager swings directly down as hard as he can, intending to crack the man on the top of the head. But he twists his torso out of the way, just narrowly. The bottle misses his jaw and slides across his chest, and he brings his hand down on top of the kid's to force it to the ground.

He takes a grip of his bottle, and pulls as hard as he can. The kid starts falling down to the old man's level, and he pulls back his fist to strike the kid with a full blown right straight.

The punch is beautiful. You're not exactly sure what the difference is, but you've never seen someone be hit like this. The way he was pulled into the punch combined with the straight angle makes a sickening crunch. The boy's nose is bloody as his head flies back, and he hits the ground.

All three of the thugs are knocked out, or groaning on the ground. You stand up, shaky, unconcerned with your bloody elbows. You take a few steps over. "H-hey, are you okay?"

The drunk turns, and grins. He's missing a few teeth. "Hehehe, dandy. How about you?"

"I-I'm fine. You're pretty tough for an old bum."

The man suddenly lurches out, and grabs onto your arm. You're shocked at first, but you realize he's just pulling himself up. He stands on your level, and you realize he's actually built quite similar to you. "Well, I'm a boxer, kid. Or I was. It's like riding a bike, see?"

Jokingly, he strikes a pose. You can tell he has great difficulty holding this stance, because of his poor leg. It shakes under the weight, but he leans on the good one after a moment. "What the hell are you doin' out here, anyway?"

You look down. You're still in your pajamas, of course. Compared to this violent scene, the issue with your dad earlier seems like a total joke. You feel embarrassed. "Nothing..I got in a fight with my parents, so I ran out of the house."

The bum opens his mouth wide, and laughs like a hyena. "Well, you should head on home then. You live far from here?"
>>
>>1079851

You shake your head. Before you can give him a real answer though, the sound of a car screeching to a halt on the other end of the alleyway catches both of your attentions. "Freeze! Police!"

Someone nearby called the cops but didn't stop to help. Typical, you think to yourself.

The bum looks back, and for some reason, when he turns back to you, his eyes are full of sadness. "That dollar.."

The old man looks down at the bottle in the alleyway, and though you don't notice, a tear traces a spot of moisture down his wrinkled face. For whatever reason, he's fallen this far. "You'll really get in trouble if your parents getcha out here with a bum..Mmmg.."

You blink. "Huh? But the cops are here, everything's okay!"
>>
>>1079856

The bum, very suddenly, pushes you against the wall. "Don't be dumb! These are kids here too, see? They need ta' point this blame somewhere, and the way these people will see it, if you ain't stopping the bum beatin up your classmates, you're helpin' him!"

The old man has a fire in him that you don't quite understand. The smell of alcohol is powerful on his breath. "You got yer' whole life ahead of ya'. One arrest.. Not for me. Not for me you don't!"

You've got no idea what the hell he's talking about, but suddenly, you're hit with the most amazing punch of your life.

He pulls back, and slings a long, sharp left hook at you. You can hear the air whooshing around the circular motion, before it closes in and snaps against your temple.

Despite him just being an old man, it's really fast. Consequently, it's really strong, too.

You hit the ground, stars dancing in front of your eyes. The old man limps away for a few feet, before getting tackled to the ground by the police. The much larger, more fit man brings his baton down on the bum once, and he lies completely still.

The next few hours are mostly a blur as the police question you about the situation. The thugs claim that you and the bum attacked them, while you say the bum was helping you. With no conclusive evidence, the police can only come to one conclusion for certain. This man got in a fight with teenagers.

Your mother picks you up from the police station. You get in her car, and the surreal sensation that's washed over you is no less diminished for time. He got arrested so that you could walk away with no blemishes on your record.

You stare at the dash, completely overcome by the recent events. Your mother wraps you in her embrace, a quite uncommon occurrence. It doesn't even strike you as exceptional, however.

"I ran into a boxer. He saved me from some thugs."

Your mother looks at you in brief confusion, before turning her head back towards the road as she pulls off. "What? A boxer? Honey, that old man they picked up was in his sixties. He's not boxing anyone."

You respond without really thinking. Your jaw seriously aches. "He still beat up all those kids. It was like something I'd never seen before.."

Your mom doesn't seem to be impressed at all. "Well, at least you're safe! But what happened at home? Your dad said you and him had a fight about your grades, but that's no good reason to go sprinting out of the house like a nutcase!"

"I'm sorry, mom. I promise I won't do it again."

She starts up without really hearing what you said, at first. "Honestly Yuuta, your grades are one thing, but this kind of behavior is just.. Eh?" She looks over at her son. No matter how cowardly Yuuta may be at times, he's always had the stubborn resilience to never apologize, even when he should. Normally it's always some sort of brazen excuse, but not this time. "Well, good..I can't say that you're going to have an easy time talking to your father about this later."

It's roughly 2 AM now. You're so tired that your dad could probably scream in your face right now without much reaction.

You get home and go to bed. Once you wake up you put an ice pack on your swollen face, and have a bowl of cereal. It's the start of the weekend. Normally you'd just stay inside and play video games all day. You even start it up and put in your new game, but as it reaches the title screen, memories of last night enter your mind.

Right now your protector is waking up in a jail cell.

Sitting here is the last thing you can do. The moral flux inside of you makes you incapable of being still. You shower and get dressed.

You've got a pretty mean bruise on the right side of your face. What do you want to do, today?

Ocean is fine, time to find inspiration.

You know what we could do? We could use the money earned as a boxer (some of it) to pay back the favor and pay for an attorney to appeal the old mans case (I know we are rich, but our parents won't use their money for that, you saw how his mom reacted.)

For whatever reason, you choose to go to the piers and look out at the ocean. It's a short bus ride over. On the way there, you plug in your headphones and listen to some music. While normally you just let yourself get carried away in your imagination, today, you can't focus on your silly ideas. Thinking about the power levels of fictional characters pales in comparison to the hyper-reality of skin on skin and bone on bone. It's not that you've been traumatized by the fight.

If anything, it's the opposite. A drunk man with a bad leg, who was smaller than everyone present, beat up a group of thugs. Even though he didn't have very good control over all of his faculties, the way he swing his body into his punches made them powerful. You could see that it wasn't raw strength, like most bullies. He was doing something else, something graceful and slick.

Suddenly you're pulled forward as the bus comes to a stop. You excuse yourself after bumping into a rather plump lady, and step out of the bus. You're at the docks, and a number of ships are out fishing. It's a beautiful morning in the spring, with seagulls flying overhead and the sun shining.

You walk down quite a ways, enjoying the view. The scent is very cleansing as well.

Suddenly, you stop, and frown. Will that old man ever get a chance to look at this same ocean again?

The music playing in your headphones serves only to drive your adrenaline higher. Without noticing, you find yourself gripping the MP3 tightly. You take them off and stuff them in your pocket, and keep walking. You have a good idea of why he saved you. Some old man felt like he was trading his life to give a youth a chance, right?

Suddenly, next to you, a runner passes by. He's got short black hair, and seems to be several inches shorter than you. The man has a broad, incredibly well defined back that you can see through his shirt. With every step you can hear the steady, rhythmic sound of his breathing.

You go back to your house, and go back up to your desktop. No one's home, so thankfully you get by another few hours without having to talk to your dad about the situation yesterday. You decide to look up what boxing gyms there are in Tokyo.

The search results that get fired back at you are so numerous and multi-faceted that you've go no real idea where to go. Gyms offering all sorts of different membership prices (though that's no issue for you) and claiming to have produced the best boxers in Japan. In order to narrow it down a bit, you add the word "famous" to your search

Your investigation of famous boxing gyms in Japan narrows down the search to some big time names. Each gym lists the membership fee as well as notable ranked boxers. You have enough time to investigate one for today.

>A. Kamogawa Gym. Takamura Mamoru, WBC Jr. Middleweight Champion. Makunouchi Ippo, Japanese Featherweight Champion. Kimura Tatsuya and Aoki Masaru. Japanese Ranked Jr Lightweight and Lightweight respectively. Medium Membership Costs.
>B. Kawahara Boxing Gym. Miyata Ichirou, OPBF Champion. High Membership Cost.
>C. Nakadai Boxing Gym. Ex-Japanese Featherweight Champion Date Eiji. Japanese Ranked Featherweight Okita Keigo. Medium Membership Cost.
>D. Kinoshita Boxing Gym. Ex-Japanese Jr Featherweight Champion Sanada Kazuki. Japanese Ranked Featherweight Kawasaru Takusou. Low Membership Cost.
>>
>>1080350
>C. Nakadai Boxing Gym. Ex-Japanese Featherweight Champion Date Eiji. Japanese Ranked Featherweight Okita Keigo. Medium Membership Cost.
let's not go in the same Gym as the protag or we'll never get any attention from the coach
>>
>>1080350
>C. Nakadai Boxing Gym. Ex-Japanese Featherweight Champion Date Eiji. Japanese Ranked Featherweight Okita Keigo. Medium Membership Cost.
I'm assuming we'd be in featherweight, so the gym with the most featherweights would be our best bet right?
>>

So the plan is to cut bodyfat entirely and tone our muscles right? I suppose it should be easier for us than it is for most of the other tall guys in Japan
>>
>>1080376
So, we're 16 and we won't grow another centimeter and won't gain any muscle?
>>
>>1080350

I missed the vote but C seems fine, doesn't have high or low cost, and isn't where the protagonist went. (i never watched/read this series.)

>C. Nakadai Boxing Gym. Ex-Japanese Featherweight Champion Date Eiji. Japanese Ranked Featherweight Okita Keigo. Medium Membership Cost.
>>
>>1080401
>huge height
>somehow Hormones aren't active enough to produce muscles
the something doesn't add up but my guess is we'll be constantly cutting to prevent gaining mass while keeping low fat.
>>
>>1080401
It's possible. I fluctuated in a size a lot during this age. When losing fat and gaining muscle, for someone who's never exercised, you'd be surprised where you might end up.

As for height honestly I think I should suck it down to 5'8 instead of 5'9, just for sanity's sake. I haven't grown any taller since I was 15. (5'9) but you're not without your point.

That's only like an inch and a half over the national japanese average. It's barely noticable.
You are probably right about the constant weight control though
>>1080420
just say we got a list from the school's boxing club.
>>
You spend a fair amount of time researching the material you've gotten, and decide on Nakadai Boxing Gym to investigate first. It's not too far from your home, and the pricing seems fair. The boxers that they go out of their way to feature seem really cool, too. The truth is you're not wholly dedicated to this hobby yet, but you certainly feel as if you owe the old man that much.

Yuuta Yamamota has at least that much dignity.

That's all for tonight anons. I hope you enjoyed, and you'll join me for the next time I run this quest. It will be several weeks at the very least, while I wrap up the tail end of Boruto Quest. I'll be here to answer some questions.

>>1080427
Funny enough that's the whole reason I had going to the sporting goods store as an option. To look through magazines for this exact reason. Sleepy mini isn't the best mini.
>>
>>1080447
Thank you for running.
>>
>>1080447
>>1080455
Thanks for running dude. I can't say I'll be reading Boruto quest because I can't stomach anything Naruto related, but I wish you the best of luck. I'm also just really excited I have another quest to follow now.
Is our Sunday punch gonna depend on the gym we attend, or are we gonna come up with one on our own?
>>
>>1080466
It'll come about naturally whenever. Since you've got such a long reach, figuring out the Flicker probably wouldn't be hard for you. Since you're at Okita and Date's gym you'll have some good chances to see Corkscrew punches too.
>>
>>1080475
I figure we're gonna have problems if we rely on the flicker too much without giving it another leg to stand on. Something short range and devastating like a short upper.
This is all hypothetical though as we don't know if we're gonna build around the flicker jab anyways.
>>
>>1080466
I went into bort cautiously hoping it wouldn't be cancer, knowing in my soul it would be heavy cancer because of boruto time Naruto.

I was fully proved wrong, It's actually rather triumphant. The MC is a genin mook ninja of zero renown who has to pull himself up by his own will and determination with little to no help to become the best fighter of his generation. He get's no special help of any kind, no bloodline anything. Battles are tactical, and tense, and the writing is good.

Look at it just based on MINI, not what i think most of us readers expected could happen going in. Just saying to be open minded.
>>
>>1080485
If it can tell the story Naruto was supposed to tell, I'll give it a shot.
>>
>>1080489
As another pitch note, Mini said he knows very little about shippuden, and largely ignores the crap that went on. So far his own ideas have been pretty good going forward.

And as for the "Telling the story Naruto was supposed to tell" I don't honestly know where it was intended to go, although i know Sasuke was never originally intended and was forced on the story. (Which i find hilarious)

http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/qstarchive.html?searchall=boruto+quest The first thread is here
>>
>>1080512
The story was just supposed to be about a kid finding out he was worth something despite not being talented or having bullshit inherited techniques.
Not badly written bullshit that completely skews from that in almost every single way.
It was actually fine right up till after the Zabuza arc, the arc where it's very obvious the story was planned to go up to.
Shit just spiraled from there and stuff was added just to look cool, fill space, and give the main cast a bigger threat than was confronted previously.
You want the guy who should have been Naruto's MC, you want Rock Lee. Bar none.
The whole thing is just the epitome of a great story told in the worst way.
>>
>>1080524
well then yes, that's pretty much what Mini has going on right now.
really we don't even know any broken techniques besides like one that we need to plan a few moves ahead of for it to work
>>
>>1080524
Well we aren't rock lee, we pick up a few tricks from a few different sources and make them work, we don't grow very fast at all, and aren't particularly strong. I did say mook genin. We can't even throw weapons with decent accuracy at the start. Our score for naruto 'stats' is literally genin average across the board at the start of the quest. This matters greatly considering it's made a point that quite literally just about everyone is some sort of ridiculous prodigy in some way or another or otherwise just very talented. It all works out though.

And yeah, the story was handled rather poorly, if things had at the very least stayed away from powerleveling i think things would have been much better off.

So yeah, i guess this kind of does tell the story you are looking for.
>>
>>1080534
An exceedingly strong technique isn't really unfair so long as it can only exist under certain circumstance, so I would hesitate to call anything you have to plan around "broken".
It's more of a signature move at that point, isn't it?
>>1080539
Glad to hear we come from a stock that allows for a decent story

>>
>>1081817

Anyways we should probably focus on just out ranging our opponent

Slowly widdle him down with our lengthy arms

The Flicker Jab is probably gonna be a good asset to us in this regard.
The only problem with it though is that it's full of openings once somebody gets the timing down.
I said it before, but we need a back-up plan for when somebody pushes through the flicker. Maybe something like a left hook or a 3/4 uppercut.
Another problem at that point is that depending on what we decide to use as said backup, we might be leaving ourselves wide open if we miss.

Considering our height and build, we're probably not gonna be as built as we would be if we were in our ideal weight class; Lightweight.
This means we're probably gonna be really easy to put down with a few good hits.
If we build around the flicker, we'd have to focus on building up wrist strength, abdominal, shoulder, and legs to have a fighting style that would be able to support it.

Having good footwork and keeping a distance is probably gonna be our opening strategy at that point as well, pissing them off and waiting for an opening.
I can imagine counters and straights are gonna be some of most devastating weapons do to our reach alone.

We'd basically be a tiny Mashiba at that point, save for the mental issues and proclivity towards fouls.
>>
>>1082100
I agree with everything you said

We shouldn't out right fight for the KO ot TKO we need to piss off our opponents

We have a good reaction time so our defense is probably going to be "get the fuck out and dodge" or counterspam

If date teachs us the heart breaker shot we can fuck over a large amount of boxers and also complement our counter/flicker spam

But thats just one route
>>
>>1082181
The only reason the Heart Breaker Shot was such a good move is because Date had the experience to land it consistently and make openings for it.
A can see how somebody using Flicker Jabs and the Heart Breaker Shot would be a strong contender, but if we don't have the know-how to use them correctly, they're just gonna hurt us.
We should probably hold off on techniques like that until we have a few fights under our belt and learn how to control the flow of the fight and make good openings.

But as you said, that's just one route. We could be an orthodox speedster if we did the right training honestly.
>>

honestly with our character, we should focus on becoming a counter character.

using our reflexes is extremely important. we have weak arms and legs.

But man i bet we have those reactions that fighting games taught yuuta.
>>
>>1092537
Honestly. We should become a southpaw counter boxing character. inboxing our outboxing is just options for us. we have poor cardio/strength but we can gain those things with training. we have no weak punchs.

Rather than being the dude with leopard boxer shorts or that rookie dude that looks up to ippo,

we should becoming something....like a mixture of Mashiba and that evil looking counter guy.

If we got fighting game experience with the arcade, we might be able to do mind games on those boxers.
>>
>>1092569
This, force them to charge in with flickers and then have the short upper and counter punches to stop them. We'll have to develop rhythm and cardio so I see a lot of jump rope in our future.
>>
>>1097599
Actually....How about being a stance switching boxer.

From south paw to regular stance. Our goal is to screw up sense of timing, sense of space between us and the opponent and sense of attacks.

Honestly. Focus on the basics. Then Left paw/right stance switching. Then we go for the fancy shit like the flicker and the corkscrew blow.

Only then once we mastered the corkscrew/flicker can we use THE BULLET.

http://ippo.wikia.com/wiki/Bullet

Bullet are heavy ass jabs. With our character reach we can use these. Hell. Thanks to being a lefty, our character can use the BULLET.

Also hien. Using a combination between Flicker/Hien/Bullets and regular jabs, we can really do some damage long range. Corkscrew blow to do SERIOUS damage if we get a bit close to do so or as a get the fuck off me early punch.

Also if the opponent is being too guard heavy, we can use the shotgun.

Honestly. I just want our character to copy the fuck out of everything. there isn't a goddamn copyright to moves.

Motionless jabs are a bit more difficult but not something impossible.

I want to create a boxer that is not minimax with just one or 3 moves but with several moves to keep his opponent confuse at the right time.

We likely going to spec on Jabs/Straights tho. Our arms are for that. uppercuts and hooks are good if we train them but we never going to be THAT good.

Doing a chopping right corkscrew punch would be awesome tho.

Outfighting/midfighting is what i describe our character the most. Jabs/Straights. Hooks/Uppercuts are for later.
