The night continues to run long as Wendy talks on to Maggie, with both of you being out of leads after the hotel you decide to see if any contact in your information network could shed some light on this subject. In exchange however she wanted to know just exactly what went on there from both you and Wendy’s point of views.“And that’s my half of the story of what happened at Grand Mariner earlier this day.” Wendy says as the park bench she sits on creaks below her, you can just barely make out a faint outline of her leaning back.“Huh... Interesting... I had my suspicions of Raph being a demon cultist but I never thought I’d get actual proof.” Maggie says tapping her pen on the side of her cheek as she looks down at her notepad.Wendy then sits up and looks Maggie right in the eyes. “You suspected he was a demon cultist? How do you know this? I worked on the police force for years and never even suspected as such.”“Hm... Call it a speciality of mine as I did some reporting on paranormal activity back in the day, ghosts and such. Despite how much people like to close their ears and pretend everything is fine, things like demons and ghosts do exist and they do indeed give people power in exchange for loyalty and service to them. After a while you begin to learn what sort of types are usually stupid enough to bargain with a demon, and rich people under the threat of death or loss of power are usually the very first in line to start dabbling in the occult.” Maggie explains. “It's just until recently that Raphie probably didn’t like the price any big and scary demon was giving him, but after what’s been going on he probably signed a blank cheque.”“Rich and the powerful huh?” you say aloud with a small sigh, gazing over the park lake in front of you. The power is currently out right now, so a mirror quality image of the night sky can be seen reflected in the lake below. The smirk on Maggie’s face grows like a fox who has just spotted a wounded rabbit. “I don’t need to see your face to know that you got some questions about this as well.”- “If you know this much about a crime boss like Raphael, how much do you know about my sister? Or even my family in general?”- “Can Raphael turn into a demon? Do we need to worry about something like him turning into a Demon Lord or something?”- “Nothing I wouldn’t be able to find myself.” (Advance scene)
>What is this quest?Alchemical Blade Prequel Quest, a quest set in the Modern version of Creation from the Exalted setting, focusing on how the robotic Alchemical Exalted came to be within the setting. If you love hints of Cyberpunk and high action quests, then you may enjoy this quest.>Who are we?The quest is mainly going to be played out in flashbacks, in which during the flashbacks we take control of the Moonsilver caste Alchemical Exalted Junpaku Hibiki, while in the current time you play as “Anonymous”. The game will take place within the city of Versino within the central continent of Creation Meruvia. Labelled as a dangerous and murderous science experiment gone rogue, you need to evade forces of the mightiest army within Creation sprinkled with the powerful Elemental supersoldiers known as the Dragonblooded, trying to find out who is responsible for what you’ve become and how to escape their clutches once and for all.>Alchemical? Moonsilver? I don’t know anything about Exalted, much less Modern Exalted...I’ve made this quest to be as friendly to newbies as possible, and I also see it as an introductory guide to the World of Modern Exalted. You can google “1d4chan Exalted” for information on the general vanilla setting, but what I’ll be using is the Modern Version of Exalted as shown in “Shards of the Exalted Dream” book, in where its Alchemicals are quite different than those of Vanilla Exalted. Feel free to ask any question about Exalted in the thread and I will do my best to answer it.>Archive?http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/archive.html?tags=Alchemical+Blade+Quest>System?Dicepool system. When performing an action, everyone rolls a number of d10’s based on what the action is (I will list the pools for most actions, but if you want to have a roll for an action, ask and I’ll make the dicepool for it). The first roll is the one that’ll be used, but if someone makes another roll for a different action and more people vote for that, I’ll be using that one instead.>This seems hella complicated, is there any way you can boil things down for me?http://pastebin.com/NexXpPC1>XP?Favored Attributes cost 4 XP per dot to increase (Underlined on stat sheet when released) while non-favored ones cost 5 XP. Abilities themselves cost 3 XP per dot to increase naturally. All charms cost 6 XP per purchase with Dedicated slots costing 4 XP each and General ones costing 6 XP each. At the end of every “mission” (In game objectives set by either me or some goal the audience desires) you will be presented with a possible acquisition list of charms. Experience can also be gained by developing the character, learning about the world, or just in general things people find interesting.>Twitter?@Sandact6>Where can I yell at you and your players?https://discord.gg/wuGZxyNAlso different is that I changed Optical Shroud a bit. More or less works the same but cleaned up the language a bit.

[1/3]“If you know this much about a crime boss like Raphael, how much do you know about my sister? Or even my family in general?” you ask Maggie.“I told what I knew most about you after our first encounter, but after doing a bit of digging I found some interesting things.” Maggie replies.“Continue.” you prompt to Maggie, watching the shimmering moon in the lake.“I believe it was close to a year before your car accident. Your sister Shouko had been contacted by several large Meruivan companies, such as LeBlanc Pharmaceuticals, Mogon Electronics, Tachi Heavy Industries, these companies ring a bell for you?” Maggie asks.“According to the status screen, Mogon Electronics are the people responsible for the design of my Essence core.” you reply to Maggie.“It’s not just that. My coat and Marina’s armour were developed by Tachi Heavy Industries. LeBlanc Pharmaceuticals also had a hand in Alchemical development, thought you were not down in Subbasement Eight long enough to actually see them.” Wendy replies.“That’s right! Daughter of the massive multibillion dollar J&P International Bank sets off to meet with the mysterious axis of evil corporations!” Maggie says using her hands to part the air. “I see the headlines in the newspaper now!”“What? How is that possible? While it's indeed true Shouko and I are millionaires our money is still largely controlled by our mother. Even if Shouko were backing these companies, then it wouldn’t be any real support as even her entire private bank account and still not be enough for them.” you reply.Maggie has a large smile creep across her face, wagging her finger back and forth. “To people that big and ambitious, money is only a means to an end.”“I see how this is playing out.” Wendy says sitting up. “They agreed to help Shouko in exchange for Shouko giving them certain favors once she was put in charge of J&P Bank.”“A very astute assumption, one that I certainly wouldn’t disagree with! In fact did you know that both LeBlanc Pharmaceuticals and Tachi Heavy Industries were actually joint companies or co-owner at some point, before each of their partners had mysterious accidents!” Maggie claims.
[2/3]“Philippe LeBlanc died in an airplane crash oven the Western Ocean, despite the weather being clear and Philippe himself being a professional pilot. Tachi Heavy Industries had a merger with Damien Auto Manufacturing but Lucius Damien died of a drug overdose while no autopsy was performed.” Wendy replies. “I only know the last bit as I was able to look it up on the police records, it never made it to the press beneath the scandal.”“Damien Auto Manufacturing stock fell like a rock, but it was Tachi Heavy Industries to ‘save’ his friend’s plummeting company. Isn’t that sweet~?” Maggie says fluttering her eyebrows.“Shouko... Where did we go wrong...” you mutter aloud to yourself as you hang your head.“If anything I’d say your sister is either doing a pretty shitty job of killing you or you have some divine figure granting you luck.” Maggie says.“Margaret , Hibiki just found out that one of her own flesh and blood tried to kill her. I suggest you stop here.” Wendy warns.“Pretending the problem doesn’t exist will only make it worse, but I get your point.” Maggie says standing up for a large stretch. “I’ll keep looking for information about both of your mysterious antagonists in exchange for more juicy stories. Hell at the rate this keeps up I’ll easily have a pulitzer by the time I get out of here!”As Maggie walks off into the pitch black park laughing all the way, you’re left behind with bitter and conflicting emotions.“I know you want to know the truth, but she could’ve at least not rubbed your face in it.” Wendy says after Maggie has left.“I feel that she has every right to. For nearly a year Shouko has been plotting my death and who knows what other illegal business. She has every right to rub it in my face for being ignorant.” you reply looking at the stars in the lake.“Not like that at least. This is why I don’t enjoy talking to the press. They just want to dress the story up in the way that sells the best, the actual truth comes second. One of the reasons I became a police officer, because not knowing the truth pissed me off.” Wendy replies.“That so...” you mutter disinterested as your mind races back to the past, trying your best to find that one exact moment.Wendy stands up, giving a deep sigh as she does so. “I’m heading back, you’re welcome to stay here for a while before heading back. Just keep an eye on the Dragonblooded or other entities which might stand a chance at finding you.”
[3/3]“Got it.” you reply.“Before I go, I also wanted to say thank you for helping me back in the hotel. If you didn’t come when you did, I’d likely be swamped with demons and the military. I may be durable but that’s a little too much even for me.” Wendy replies. “I’d like to give you something in return.”“Is it a blue pill I can take to forget everything?” you reply with a sigh.“No, but it's medicine of a sort. Sub-Tank or E-Tank. I managed to find a spare large one of each and wondering which one you’d like the most.” Wendy replies.- Take Sub-Tank L (Upon use restores 7 Health levels plus a chance to restore additional health levels)- Take E-Tank L (Upon use restores 40 motes that can be used to power various charms or other magical abilities both in and out of battle)
>>1087290What is our current inventory?
>>1087492Forgot to add the Reaper pod, but here you go
>>1087290for a player standpoint i want to take the Sub-Tank L form a char standpoint hibiki knows wendy takes a beating so she would opt to take the E-Tank L"I will take the E-tank L. Both of us often take a beating but i think i have enough healing tanks currently."
[1/2]"I will take the Large E-tank . Both of us often take a beating but I think i have enough healing tanks currently." you reply to Wendy.A single piece of Wendy’s arm opens pointing skywards on Wendy’s arm, easily visible as it remains uncloaked. Wendy reaches out to grab what appears to be a single large syringe with three needles, but the substance inside of it glows with such a bright light that it gives off as much light as a lantern does.“Thanks.” you say as you quickly snatch it out of Wendy’s hands and load it into a thigh compartment. With such a bright light in this pitch black part, any amount of light would be disastrous here.“I’ll be heading back to the hotel now. Take care.” Wendy says as she turns around to head off.“Take care.” you absentmindedly reply as stare into the lake itself, the everpresent pops of distance gunfire no longer present as you sit down onto the park grass itself.“Is something troubling you Junpaku-sama?” a familiar voice comes out from nearby, the Dyrad Yukimaru walking up from the lake water itself.“Questions about the future and not a single answer to one of them.” you reply to Yukimaru without turning to see her.“Time is one of the essential components for an answer Junpaku-sama, for without time everything would be stagnant.” Yukimaru replies to you.You turn to see Yukimaru with a face of utter disbelief. “Wow, that’s rather philosophical. Where did you learn that?”“I overheard it from two soldiers who were walking along the perimeter of the park.” Yukimaru replies. “The only people who use this park are mainly ordinary mortals. The military and their machines stay out, while many Alchemicals don’t often come here.”“Keep your eyes out. You may’ve been lucky so far as the park doesn’t have many resources for an Apostate or good long term hiding places for an Alchemical, and so long as neither of them are here the military won’t care. However we can’t completely rule them out. Stay away from them in the meanwhile.” you say getting up off the ground.“Of course Junpaku-sama. Is there anything else I can do you before you depart?” The Dryad asks.Truth be told you wanted a quiet place to meditate, but Yukimaru’s constant vigilance you just wouldn’t be able to relax properly. “For now, survive. We’ll think about what to do after we can get off of this island.”“As you wish Junpaku-sama.” Yukimaru says as she gives a deep bow before walking back down in the water again.******
[2/2]Morning comes and goes as per normal, but even after doing the katas of nearly every martial art you know, your mind is unwilling to be silenced. How long has Shouko truly been doing this, what are the deals she worked out with those companies, and most importantly where did you go wrong? Another horrifying thought that entered your mind is that if those same people came to you instead of Shouko with a similar deal plus usage of your legs once more, you’re hard pressed to come up with a reason for denial. While you tried to remain optimistic that accident had taken everything from you. A person who prided themselves on physical and mental prowess, only to effectively have your primary method of training taken away from you. The one that felt let yourself be you. Training tracks and other things kept you in shape but you could feel your skills rapidly decay under such a state, and cybernetics seemed too blunt as it effectively halted your natural honing of the body to only be replaced in an endless sea of upgrades.“Not much of a choice now I suppose...” you mutter as you look down at your hand, opening and closing it slowly, picking up on the virtually silent servomotors moving beneath your hand. There is a knock on your room. “Hibiki, are you in there?”“You can come in.” you reply as your twirl your blades around in a flourish, resetting your stance.Father Marcellius strides into the room, wearing his golden lion armour as he watches your stance. “Hibiki, I was going to say that Osvald was calling us down for a group meeting, but it seems that you’re rather distraught.”“And how can you tell that?” you ask as you try to assume your defensive stance.“I may not be as gifted as you are in martial arts, but with the errors in your pose and breathing I can tell that something is bothering you.” Father Marcellius replies. “In fact I noticed that anytime you were very stressed you’d often practice more the next morning. You’ve been practicing for the better part of four hours.”Four hours? You lost track of time completely. You don’t even feel remotely tired yet, so at least the durability of this body is nice.- “Father, I learned that my sister had been meeting up with some of the same companies who sponsored the Alchemicals. I know what Shouko did was immoral and unjust, but at the same time I can’t help wonder if I would take the same deal if I was put into her shoes. Do I even have a right to be angry with her?”- “Father, does my training even matter anymore? Before I sought to perfect my body and mind for spiritual enlightenment. But now since I’m a machine does this even matter anymore? Do I have a soul to enlighten? What point is this endless training when any one of our kind can install a program and go from an unarmed novice to one of the best masters in the world?”- “Nothing that can’t be answered with time Father.”
>>1087713>“Father, I learned that my sister had been meeting up with some of the same companies who sponsored the Alchemicals. I know what Shouko did was immoral and unjust, but at the same time I can’t help wonder if I would take the same deal if I was put into her shoes. Do I even have a right to be angry with her?”"Also I was contemplating what price did she pay and if she even would feel any remorse for what she has done.Do you know anything about people who have become demons?"
[1/3]You come to the realization that just doing kata’s over and over again is just ignoring the issue at hand. Even if your relationship with Shouko is a lie, she was right about you dragging your feet on truly important matters.“You are right Father. I feel that I am lost in a maze without any guidance, constantly retreading the same path in search for an answer.” you reply to Father Marcellius.“It is my duty to guide those who are lost on the path of life.” Father Marcellius says as he sits down on a bed. “Speak your mind young one.”You give small sigh as sit down on the bed next to him, placing your swords on the bed as you stare at the ground. “I learned that my sister had been meeting up with some of the same companies who sponsored the development of the Alchemicals. I know what Shouko did was immoral and unjust, but at the same time I can’t help wonder if I would take the same deal if I was put into her shoes. Do I even have a right to be angry with her?”“Anger is logical to what one would feel after what you’ve been through, but I feel anger is not the proper emotion to be feeling here. Rather it is pity for she has been tempted by evil.” Father Marcellius explains to you. “Many people think that evil is a disgusting and ugly thing, and it truly is once you see its innermost layers. But those outside layers? That’s the seductive part. Evil works not by being ugly, but appearing to be absolutely beautiful compared to everything else. Sol, Divis Mal’s greatest angel, was said to want for nothing. Outside of Divis Mal he was said to be the wisest, strongest, and most beautiful angel out of all of them, but it was this vanity and arrogance that led to him thinking that he should be in charge and tried to take over heaven itself. He was tempted by power and I feel your sister is the same way.”“That doesn’t explain my feelings on the issue. If that same deal was offered to me back when I was paralyzed, given a chance to pursue my art once again, I’m honestly have a difficult reason to think why I would turn down such an offer it meant the restoration of my body.” you admit to Father Marcellius.“However the key difference is you wouldn’t accept.” Father Marcellius explains. “I know you Hibiki, and while your sister might have deceived you I am an excellent judge of character. You would be tempted, as the very idea is beautiful to you. What you always wanted with seemingly none of the cons, but you gain a false freedom by signing the contract of the devil. Quite literally in this case. If you knew the consequences of such a deal then you’d ultimately refuse it. You may be after the perfection of mind and body, but purity of the soul is another factor. You would never allow such an evil act to taint your soul.”“Taint... Is my sister even human anymore? What price did she pay? Does she even feel remorse for what she did to me?” you ask.
[2/3]“Did your sister show any emotion when fighting with you?” Father Marcellius replies.“Yes several. Anger and jealously chiefly among them.” you reply.“Feeling such a thing when fighting you means that she is indeed still ultimately human, just like how each and every one of us are human despite having mechanical bodies. Do you want to know why Shouko didn’t try to personally kill you?” Father Marcellius asks, but continues on several seconds later when he gets no answer. “Its because she didn’t have the heart to kill her sister personally.”“She seemed pretty intent on killing me back at the office.” you reply.“That’s because her hand was forced, cornered with no way out. Shouko was angry at not being able to kill you in a method that was impersonal. If you died in the car crash or Subbasement 8 then she would not have to hear your screams or cries. I could be wrong, but that is ultimately my opinion on your sister.” Father Marcellius explains.Questions remain in your mind still, but it now feels that at least a huge weight has been taken off your mind, freeing your brain up for other activities like survival once again. “I thank you Father Marcellius, while they are not the answers I’d like to hear, they are ones that cause me to think. By the way, do you know anything about people who have become demons?”Father Marcellius gives a shrug. “Only myths and tales, never one in actual person. I have training of how to recognize a demonic infestation but that’s about it. Only in Meruvian movies do each and every priest know how to do a proper exorcism, but the only ones trained to do such things would be the Bishops, and not all of them know that either. The best person to ask about such things would be Mochire.”“Hm... Maybe Forestia knows some things about them as well... Thank you Father for showing me a path. I do not know what lays at the end, but I’m once again willing to follow it.”A tired smirk spreads across his face. “Of course, I’m glad to help. Now come along, Osvald is waiting for us.”“Of course.” you reply putting your twin swords in the leg scaffold before walking out of the room itself. As you follow Father Marcellius, he leads you down into the room where Doctor Rosenberg is located to, while several computers remain the majority of them are packed up in boxes. The makeshift Alchemical cradle itself is destroyed, having been torn apart, shot to pieces, then burned. Marina can be seen consoling Doctor Rosenberg, patting him on the back as he sits down the ground, appearing to be having an existential meltdown like you had, only dealing with it far more poorly than you were.
[3/3]“Oh it's not that bad!” Marina says trying to encourage him.“Oh no its that bad! I fucked up! I fucked up big time and we’re all dead!” Doctor Rosenberg says, eyes bloodshot as he holds onto his head.“Can someone explain what’s happening here?” you ask aloud.“I’m packing up my workshop. Osvald says this building is no longer safe for me, so I’m taking all of my equipment to my sister’s place downtown not far from here. It's safe, but the area I worked in before with the other scientists... I left a document on the server that was written by Doctor Bell, one that had locations to all possible scientist safehouse locations including my own. I was supposed to delete it when we left, but after Hibiki’s injury I rushed over here as fast as possible and... Oh Mal they probably already know!”“They have made it into the building, but they’re not doing anything.” Osvald says opening his wrist and display holograms of various street cameras on a certain building near the seafront. Various guards and urban striders can be seen on the outside. “They likely found the systems, but are waiting for a data systems specialist to be called in to scan the files.”“They’re decrypted using algorithms we wrote in Subbasement 8, but that won’t stop a dedicated Dragonblooded cracker. All it’ll do is buy us some time.” Doctor Rosenberg replies.- “I understand that this was Bell’s documents, but can’t you find new safehouses? I don’t mean to be morbid, but with nearly a fifth of the city in refugee camps or dead it leaves a lot of open housing.”- “Why is the Dragonblooded system tech taking so long to get here?”- “Just what sort of military hardware are we looking at exactly?”- “Can’t Osvald just hack a drone or or Dexter call in an artillery strike and destroy the entire building, server and all?”- Other(Heading to bed, will start up again tomorrow a bit earlier this time!)
>>1087864>- “Just what sort of military hardware are we looking at exactly?”>- “Why is the Dragonblooded system tech taking so long to get there? Do they not know what they have?">-"I'm guessing that new safehouses would take too long to find due to how you scattered?">-"We have a floor-plan of the location, at least, right?"
[1/2]“Just what sort of military hardware are we looking at exactly?” you ask.“Combined arms tactic of both infantry and vehicles. Various spirits seem to be remaining outside the area in case of accidental damage to the computer systems inside.” Osvald states.“Shit... Looks like Strike Force Zero have brought in the big guns.” Dexter says as he walks up to the hologram, pointing to a few people on the photograph. “The equipment they have here is next generation stuff, plus these guys have the training to use it effectively. This is going to be very problematic.”“Oh fuck each and every one of these guys! They’re bloodthristy as hell and leave no witnesses behind!” Mochire says. “They’re not as strong as a Dragonblooded, but their training more than makes up for it.”“Speaking the Dragonblooded, why hasn’t the tech arrived yet?” Marina asks. “I mean for something like this, shouldn’t the tech have arrived there by now?”“Doing something else more important I’d imagine.” Wendy replies.“Correct. Safehouses like this are found constantly, but the military likely has no idea what’s inside of the complex so they’re only attaching a moderate force to secure it.” Osvald replies. “I’m guessing new safehouses would take too long to find due to how you’re scattered?” you ask.“Bell put a lot of effort into installing various safehouses, to the point where I have idea how she managed to pull it off. In addition to being places where the military is unlikely to locate, they also have equipment for any of the scientists from Subbasement 8 need in order to conduct research, hacking, repairs, or anything else remotely related breaking out of Versino just in case we couldn’t leave somehow.” Doctor Rosenberg says without bothering to look up at you, his voice heavy with regret.“The equipment that was used to save your life came from a safehouse Hibiki. If the military gets a hold of those locations then our supply line is pretty much cut off.” Father Marcellius tells you.“We do at least have a floor plan, right?” you ask.“Only based on past blueprints.” Osvald says breaking down the structure of the building in the hologram, showing the floor plan for both floors. “The first floor has crowded corridors easy for an ambush while the upper floors are nearly all glass and have little cover.”“Oh great, this is just getting better and better.” Mochire replies.“Do you have a plan for this Osvald?” you ask him.
[2/2]“Two, both of which involve you.” Osvald states as he shows the breakdown of the building. “The first involves going in with a stealth approach. Hibiki infiltrates the building while the remainder of us outside attacking the Strike Force Zer0 commandos to draw their attention. Hibiki then implants a wireless communication uplink to the servers and defends the uplink from enemy attempts to remove it.”“And the other plan?” you ask.“The same as the previous, but only we make our presence known before the uplink, collecting the military in one place where we then surround and eliminate them.” Osvald says as a diagram of you jumping up to the second floor window can be seen with the other members of your group surrounding the military that quickly swarm the building.“Osvald that’s suicide.” Mochire interjects. “They’d destroy the whole building.”“No, the military will want those servers, especially after seeing the trouble we’re going through to protect them. The issue with the first plan is that escape might be more difficult if they manage to regroup during our attack. The second plan is more dangerous, but leaving the area would be significantly easier as they won’t have enough forces left to give chase to us after we’re done.” Wendy explains.“That is correct.” Osvald replies. “A total of one other person can head in with Hibiki either through the window or entering in through the sewer entrance on the first floor for those insufficient at stealth.”Choose the battle plan:- Take the Diversion plan (Easier time deleting data, harder time escaping)- Take the Frontal Assault (Harder time deleting data, easier time escaping)More questions (Insert which ones)Choose which companion to bring with you!- Mochire: An expert in occult matters with sorcery that ranges from powerful single target to strong area of effect.- Wendy: Ex-detective that can keep a cool head in battle and offer tactical advice. “Is it possible to hijack any support forces in the area to cover or provide support?” you ask. “Target drones or the like? Possibly have enemy soldiers clumped up to help with the plan?”“Drone hacking is possible, but once I begin cracking I am unlikely to remain in control of them for long.” Osvald replies. “Strike Force Zer0 operates outside the standard government patrols. We could likely chase away some of the military and their vehicles, but those guys are listening to orders from people higher up.” Dexter replies. “I’d have no clue who they’re listening to. John Doe could very well be a possible end, but not the ultimate one for these guys.”“Do either of these propositions interfere with our plan in any way?” Osvald asks.“If the military comes to realize how many Alchemicals are in the area, they may move to mobilize more forces to replace the ones that we damaged or distracted. It should make things easier for us at the beginning at the very least.” Osvald says.New voting choices made!- Distract normal military guard in area (Far fewer military guard numbers)- Hijack drones to target helicopters and other drones patrolling the area to attack before the hacking begins (No enemy air support units during combat)Choose the battle plan:- Take the Diversion plan (Easier time deleting data, harder time escaping)- Take the Frontal Assault (Harder time deleting data, easier time escaping)More questions (Insert which ones)Choose which companion to bring with you!- Mochire: An expert in occult matters with sorcery that ranges from powerful single target to strong area of effect.- Wendy: Ex-detective that can keep a cool head in battle and offer tactical advice. [1/3]“Is there any way we can scout them out in detail before we start?” you ask.“The traffic cameras are more than sufficient for such a task.” Osvald replies.“The only problem is that the building itself is very open. Snipers can potentially be everywhere in this area.” Wendy replies.“There will be, I guarantee it.” Dexter replies looking at the camera footage. “I see a Ranger, Heavy, and a commando in a squad. That means their sharpshooter is likely going to be watching over them.”“Great... Osvald if I’m going in there then I want to be there for as little as possible and without enemy air support. I want you to come in with me after the helicopters are done with.” you reply.“Hibiki I am not nearly as focused on combat as everyone else in this room.” Osvald states.“But you can still cloak. Point is if I’m in the room then the military is going to be busy with me rather than you.” you reply. “I can easily run cover as they’ll be too busy focused on me rather than trying to squint and find you.”“Huh, looks like your tactical thinking is rubbing off on her.” Dexter says to Osvald.“Very well, but be very careful. Strike Force Zer0 military personnel are far tougher than the normal military.” Osvald states as he closes the hologram.“Yea yea I got that.” you reply waving off the concern.“Just be careful! If any of you died because of my fuck up I wouldn’t know what I’d do with myself!” Doctor Rosenberg pleads.“Nonsense, there are plenty of high buildings in the city, you wouldn’t need to think very hard one which one to use.” Mochire says in a happy tone.“Do you know those times you speak Mochire and I feel the sudden urge to backhand you? Right now is one of those times.” Wendy warns him. “Everyone get and move out to the meeting point location. Maintain radio silence until the operation begins.”******About 15 minutes later both you and Osvald are on top of a roof overlooking the single abandoned warehouse down below. It seems more military aid has arrived unfortunately. A single APC remains in the courtyard area just before the dockside loading dock while two urban pattern camo tanks can be seen guarding the corner of each street. Dozens of military guards can be seen in the area while Strike Force Zer0 members in their signature black uniforms are easy to spot in both outside the building and on the second floor. Two attack helicopters fly in the sky overhead the small building itself, their infrared cameras searching down below for any target for it to fire upon.“I’m amazed Bell thought that a building with a second floor of mostly glass windows was a good place for a resistance movement to do its work in.” you mutter as you zoom into the building.
[2/3]“The things most well hidden are often those hiding in plain sight.” Osvald says as he remains behind the building. “I’ve hacked into a drone, 15 seconds until I’m within range of the helicopters. Once both helicopters are down I want you to enter the building through the glass window and begin assaulting the military inside, I’ll be shortly behind you.”“Got it.” you reply as you grip the edge of the building, small cracks appearing in the bricks as your tension slowly mounts. You barely hear it at first, the small buzzing sound at the edge of your hearing. The sound of the incoming drone being filtered out over the noise of the helicopters. Your eyes dart towards the noise just as two missiles scream out from the nearby drone, striking each one of the helicopters and engulfing them into flaming hunks of metal while the drone itself can be seen diving headlong into the courtyard full of surprised military guards. You don’t stick around and see how that plays out, rather vaulting over the edge of the building and springing off the the side, soaring through the air directly towards the building as your powersuit becomes plain as day to all of those below you. You crash through the window itself, rolling on the ground before righting yourself up once more.In the second floor area itself you can nearly a dozen souls already. Several Strike Force Zer0 members can be seen including one with heavy armour and a large multibarreled gun, one with a sword like you fought against when John Doe appeared, and another with a fancier looking assault rifle than normal military guards. One does throw you off guard however is noticing a very familiar face entering the room the proper way along with several normal military guards.“Shinobi!?” Dr. Ledeel gasps as she drops the briefcase she was carrying, immediately grabbing two Chakram’s in her hands that crackle with electricity.Ledeel herself, honestly you should’ve been able to see such a thing coming yourself.

[1/2]Letting your guard down for a second would mean death in this area, so you’ve long since prepared yourself for the defensive footwork needed for this encounter. Your twin blades snap to yourself side as you immediately head towards the Ranger in the room. The Ranger takes out his shotgun and quickly fires in your direction with one hand, only to have his other hand reach towards his sword in a desperate attempt to counter. The blades themselves bite into his armour, failing to land any soldier wounds before you’re forced to leap away from the point blank shotgun blast.(Hibiki attacks the SF0 Ranger for two withering damage!)“Our target is here! Engage Shinobi, incapacitate but do not kill!” Ledeel roars out as a whirlwind rapidly picks up around her.You barely have time to contemplate what Ledeel means by this before the Ranger immediately rushes into you headlong. His own synthetic muscles glowing a bright red as his blade soars through the air, cutting apart a nearby computer monitor on the desk as if it weren’t even there, his own blade seeming to crackle with electricity.Your armour glows a deep blue as your body rapidly converts power into the defensive subsystems. Sparks flying off your body as the attack harmlessly glides off of you. Abandoning your defense you strike back at the Ranger in turn, only for your flaming blade to rebound backwards as a small explosive detonates on the Ranger’s body, the directed charge cutting your attack short.(SF0 Ranger hits Hibiki and deals no damage! Hibiki counterattacks SF0 Ranger and deals no damage!)As if on cue a single spark can be seen in a far off building out of the corner of your eyes, missing it completely if it weren’t for your enhanced vision. Your blade bats the shot away before attempting to navigate into the window frame for better cover. Dexter was right, there is a sniper watching over the group, and with his distance he’s far beyond the range of your weapons. Even worse he appears to be amazing at snap shots from even such a distance away.(SF0 Sharpshooter attacks Hibiki and misses!)“Squad Alpha, open fire on the target! Crasher, make sure she doesn’t go anywhere!” the nearby SF0 commando barks out to the soldiers in the room, beginning the flurry of assaults raining down upon you. The single SF0 Heavy braces himself with his weapon before opening fire, the sound of the gun being far different from any other gun you’ve ever seen, each shot sounding as if it's a loud crack in the air with far faster bullets. His shots are not aimed directly at you, but rather behind you as if to cut off your escape, leaving you wide open for the remaining rifleman as they open fire upon both you and the Ranger. The Ranger seems to leap side almost at the last moment while you’re not as lucky, the Ranger’s own body covering up the few shots that make it past your guard and rebound off your hardened body.

[1/2]With the amount of firepower trained on you right now, remaining in one place would be suicide. As soon as the Ranger leaps away you explode towards the nearby Rifleman, their bullets bouncing off your armour as charge towards them at full speed, afterimages trailing behind you before leaping into the air and having your anima thrusters activate, descending upon the hapless soldiers. Your blades cut through the soldiers themselves as limbs fly up in the air, half of them dead in a handful of seconds before the other two turn tail and run. Despite wanting to take them out non-lethally it simply wasn’t an option for you, for every remaining second they remained on the field was a threat to both you and Osvald.(Hibiki attacks the Rifleman Squad and deals 8 damage, causing the battle group to dissolve!)“Shinobi!” Ledeel cries out as she races towards you. Her own blow seems to lance out like a bolt of lightning itself, drawn towards your blade before a massive crack displaces the air around you and sends the bodies of the dead soldiers flying down the hall leading into the server room.(Dr. Ledeel attacks Hibiki and misses!)“Why do you want me alive!?” you immediately demand of Ledeel, each one of your blades blocking a chakram that’s crackling with electricity in front of you.“Why would I tell my orders to you!?” Dr. Ledeel growls at you, her rage of being unable to defend those men you just killed felt in the pressure she brings to bear against your blades. “A dog of the military is just worthless to me then!” you say using your foot to kick her away before immediately attempting to bring both of the blades down upon her head, only for her to suddenly pull away from you with a crack of displaced air and your blades hitting nothing.(Hibiki counterattacks Dr. Ledeel and misses!)As Ledeel leaps away the Ranger you left behind before charges back into the fray, hurtling towards with a crackling blade that comes down on an overhead swing. Your body redirects its momenteum quickly, the blade of wind coming to block the strike overhead while the blade of fire lashes out at the Ranger. Your blade strikes true, cutting into the Ranger’s synthetic body before leaping back to avoid the rest of the blow.(Hibiki counterattacks the Ranger for 3 lethal damage!)“Crasher, flank from behind!” the Strike Force Zer0 Commando cries out before running out from the servers, taking aim at you and firing with a three round burst, the crack of his modified rifle similar to that of the heavy’s rifle. A quick shifting of your blade makes it so this blade only catches your own before spinning around to attack him in a counter slash, cutting deeply inside of his artificial body as his ribcage is opened up. White synthetic blood pours out from his body onto yours as he leaps back, severely injured but still alive. The good news about these cyborgs? What is substantially harder harder to dodge is the hailstorm of bullets that begin to pour out from the heavy’s main cannon, roaring down the halls as it begins to tear into you. You know the ability she’s using well, and that she could very well sense you through it despite all of the upgrades in your cloak. After waiting several seconds, the grinding Ledeel’s teeth gets louder and louder. “Damnit!” Ledeel curses loudly as she kicks over a nearby table.“The other Alchemicals surrounding the building are retreating Major.” The Commando says to Ledeel.“Leave them! Our priority is Shinobi! If she’s hiding then it means she’s still cloaked! She can’t have gone far due to her cloaking device’s speed restrictions, but I want a total lockdown of this area before reinforcements arrive!” Doctor Ledeel barks out to the men as she heads over to the single still operational computer screen and pulls the keyboard up off the ground. The Commando gives a nods as he and several of the cyborgs head towards the exit, the Heavy remaining in the room itself in order to guard over Ledeel. You believe the time is now to make your exit, activating your gravity device and slowly crawling out of the destroyed windows towards the outside world. Off in the distance you can see several multicoloured auroras of golden, blue, and black from your allies.
[2/3](“Hibiki, I am refocusing my efforts to support the other’s escape. Head to this location and do not aid them.”) Osvald says as he texts you an address. (“Your reserves are dangerously low and in your current state you will only be a liability.”)(“I hate to admit it, but you’re right.”) you text Osvald as you watch the soldiers run past you, using a frozen tank as cover.. (“Make sure they survive, I’ll see you when I can.”)******Fifteen minutes later your arrive at Doctor Rosenberg’s place, entering the apartment complex by the top flood before making away to his own apartment, knocking loudly on the door.“It’s me.” you call out to him. You’re pretty confident that no one other than Rosenberg is here right now, or at least no one who’d care about you being an Alchemical.Rosenberg hurriedly opens the door, looking down the hall both ways. “Where are the others?”“They’ll be here soon, I was sent ahead as I hide from the military but don’t have enough resources to help. Can I come in?” you ask Rosenberg.“Oh, yes please right this way.” Doctor Rosenberg says as he holds open the door for you.As you enter the apartment and drop your cloaking field, you walk past the wall full of cheesy and frilly cloth decorations. “It's like I stepped into a dimension where only pink is allowed.”“Yea I normally wouldn’t think of my sister doing something this, but we all have strange hobbies.” Rosenberg says walking about a meter down into the living room area. Several computer monitors can be seen set up in addition to what appears to be a makeshift Alchemical Cradle made out of medical equipment, car parts, and even wood.“...Is that safe?” you ask Rosenberg. “You can take bullets, I’m pretty sure this will not kill you.” Rosenberg says as he begins powering up the computers. “This chair is a custom one my companion made. It’s a deeper scan than the one we had back at the apartment building. I’m hoping I can use it to find more information within your systems.”“Like what?” you ask as you sit down into the cradle. Despite the needles in the cradle being an inch long, you feel no pain as they slide smoothly into ports on your armour and flesh.“Trine was a genius but I refuse to believe that he didn’t have something like comments in his code.” Doctor Rosenberg says as one monitor begins displaying what you see, another showing detailed diagnostics, and finally once that says it's accessing your source code. “I’m hoping to look through both that and see if he gave us any other clues on how the military is finding you outside of Versino so easily.”
[3/3]Doctor Rosenberg continues to tap away on his keyboard as you lie down in the cradle, unable to move any muscle other than those in your head so long as he’s accessing your systems. After about several minutes he stops, a look of joy on his face quickly being replaced by one of horror after he scrolls through a few pages of incomprehensible text. “Oh dear that’s... that’s not good.”“What’s not good?” you ask.“I found out how the military is tracking you. The have a GPS locator beacon programmed inside of you that tracks your movement. Advanced one, so they can track your movement down to a one centimeter margin of error and even tell your height above sea level.” Rosenberg says, his face full of worry.“There’s something stopping us from removing it, isn’t there?” you ask.“The same chip that has the GPS Tracker in it is the same chip that regulates your reactor core. If we pull that out, you’d basically explode several minutes later.” Rosenberg states. “But it appears that Doctor Trine was working on some sort of code to try and disable that feature, or at least it appears to be going over this area here... It’s very incomplete though, like as if some one cut up a hotdog and served me random parts.”- “Why would Doctor Trine randomly cut such a valuable code into pieces? I know he was insane, but I thought he wanted us to escape.”- “Can you repair the code?”- “While you’re scanning me I need to know. Am I... really just a computer program now?”- Other

OK I need to head out a bit early tonight as I have a doctor's appointment tomorrow morning, but we'll wrap this up tomorrow!
[1/3]“Can you repair the code?” you ask.“I mean in theory but...” Doctor Rosenberg makes an uncomfortable grown as he continues looking at the screen. “The way the code is now is like a house that isn’t even quarter built yet, and I’m expected to make the rest of it without any sort of blueprint or frame of reference. If I get such a code wrong then you’re more than likely going to die as the same chip is also used to modulate your reactor core. That’s honestly a pretty smart move on the the government’s part, as anyone tampering with it is liable to kill the Alchemical if they don’t know what they’re doing.”“Why would Doctor Trine randomly cut such a valuable code into pieces? I know he was insane, but I thought he wanted us to escape.” you ask.“He probably did it because he was insane.” Doctor Rosenberg says as he doesn’t peel his eyes away from the screen containing wall after wall of code. “There are a few theories I can think of. First is that this was the latest version of the code he was making, but wasn’t able to finish it. Second is that he did it as some sort of security measure. He might’ve scattered more of the code around in certain Alchemicals for safekeeping.”“Why didn’t he just upload the finished version into me rather than going through the effort of splitting it?” you ask.“Doctor Trine went insane shortly before your arrival, and before then he worked on other Alchemicals in the lab, same job as I did only he could directly alter their coding. It could be he was trying to push bit by bit, or when he fled to the lower levels he was unable to take the completed code and was forced to start from scratch all over again. Or he really could very well be insane and wanted this to be a part of some grand test. With him dead and Subbasement 8 in ruins I doubt we’ll figure out his reasoning now.” Doctor Rosenberg replies, still staring at the screen itself.“All this talk about code... is that what I really am now?” you mutter to yourself.Doctor Rosenberg continues staring at the screen a few seconds before realizing that you said something. “Sorry, can you say that again?”“If you’re scanning me I need to know. Am I nothing more than a computer program now?” you ask.Doctor Rosenberg stops for a second, before spinning around to face you again.“Who told you that?”“The person who was pulling the strings down at the Lab, the same one that killed Doctor Bell and ambushed us when we tried to save you and the rest of the scientists. I don’t know his real name, but this John Doe directly told me that my sense of self is nothing more than a computer program at this point. That I’m nothing more than a soulless machine who inherited the memories of Junpaku Hibiki.” you say turning to Doctor Rosenberg. “Was what he saying true?”The struggle on Doctor Rosenberg’s face only serves to put fear in your own heart. “It’s far more compli-”
[2/3]Doctor Rosenberg hesitates for a few seconds before answering back. “Yes, strictly speaking John Doe is right. The process of becoming an Alchemical essentially turns the brain into a giant computer, and the personality you’re having right now is an emulated version of when you were a mortal.”You run your lie detection system several times, hoping that what he’s speaking is some sort of lie, but no matter how many times his pupils and facial structure is scanned, evidence of sweat or voice tension, Doctor Rosenberg is telling the truth. You don’t need to say a word, the look on your face along should be enough to tell Doctor Rosenberg how you feel.“We didn’t tell this to Alchemicals because it led to a massive amount of suicides and demoralization.” Doctor Rosenberg says. “I’m... sorry I can’t break it to you in any easier way.”“So I’m just a machine now? One that blindly follows its preprogrammed code? Is my entire life’s goal of perfection of the soul a pointless gesture now?” you ask him, feeling your innermost character crack at the revelation.“As I said it is more complicated than that. Yes, your personality now is an emulation or a ‘snapshot’ of what you were when you were mortal, but what is being a person in of itself? Some Alchemicals have mindspike systems, where they can not only ‘reprogram’ what a person believes in, but completely change their identity and sense of self. It works just as well on humans as on Alchemicals, so does that make me a machine as well? The way I see it is that both you and I are machines, I just have hardware based in biology and chemical signals while yours relies on adamant synapses and electricity.” Doctor Rosenberg says, leaning closer to you with a deep sense of guilt on his face. “As for the soul, there was some interesting things we found out about that area.”“Such as?” you ask.“That they exist. I’m... not that sure of the scientific details as that wasn’t my area of expertise. But we found out that not only that souls are real, but they’re somehow related to a person’s sense of identity and without them become something like mindless zombie drones.” Doctor Rosenberg explains.“John Doe said my soul was consumed in the process of becoming an Alchemical.” You tell Rosenberg.“That was a half-truth. During the process of Alchemical Essence Core construction, we needed something to ‘jumpstart’ the Essence Core, and it was this theory of the soul that let to us using that to reactive the reactor core.” Doctor Rosenberg explains before placing his finger on your chest where your heart would be. “Your soul wasn’t consumed when you became an Alchemical Hibiki, rather it's being used right now to power you just as it always has. The only difference now is that you soul is a physical, tangible thing within your body rather than a metaphysical and intangible one.”
[3/3]You remain stunned at the information just unloaded upon you by Doctor Rosenberg, your mind fluttering with dozens of interconnected thoughts.“In fact no matter how much research we did, we discovered the two core components to an Alchemical are the Exaltation Core and the Motonic Reactor Core. Take either of these away and the Alchemical will not function. Many people struggled to think of why, but never would believe the claim that a reactor core couldn’t be swapped out just as a soul couldn’t be swapped out.” Doctor Rosenberg continues. “According to what I was told, my brain works in a special way, it allows me to make sense out of what’s on that screen there while everyone else sees garbage, the rest of the researchers are like that too. As smart as John Doe claims he is, he is not one of us. Asking him for advice on your metaphysical condition is akin to asking a bum on the street about your current health.”- *Cry* “I’m... I’m so happy that’s the case.”- “I’m... still not convinced. If anything this has made me even more confused. What does even being human mean anymore?”- Other
>>1096581"Thank you. Would it be possible to check the rest of the team when they get back? Also, possibly check the various Alchemicals out there in-case Trine worked on them at some point?"
>>1097001>>1096581Oh, and excuse yourself, go out and check to see where the team is currently.
[1/2]"Thank you. Would it be possible to check the rest of the team when they get back? Also, possibly check the various Alchemicals out there in-case Trine worked on them at some point?" you ask.“I only need to check on the Alchemicals that Doctor Trine personally had access to. If he’s anything like me, he probably only had to work on three or four kinds of Exaltation cores. You’re the only one Doctor Trine worked on, and that was illegally.” Doctor Rosenberg explains to you. “I have the names of those Alchemicals, in fact I saved a list of all the Alchemicals in the facility just after our little talk and before the facility went into lockdown.”“Do you know where they are?” you ask Doctor Rosenberg.Doctor Rosenberg shakes his head. “No idea. Some of them can be even dead right now. Ironically they’d become easier to find if the GPS Tracker was active, but I think you don’t want whatever’s blocking your signal to be cancelled out anytime soon.”“If they’re dead then wouldn’t it be too late?” you ask.“Whenever an Alchemical dies the Exaltation Core is always left behind and no known force of science is capable of destroying one. Exaltation Cores themselves exist partially in another dimension s-”“Skip the science stuff.” you tell Rosenberg.“Short answer is they can’t be destroyed and I can still scan them for their code. It’s harder, but if you’re forced to bring in an Exaltation Core then I can still manage it. This also benefits us as even if the military has killed any Alchemicals we can still grab their Exaltation Cores.” Doctor Rosenberg states. “The military is keeping them in a few facilities hidden around the city. No doubt under heavy guard, but I know they exist as I was forced on debugged several cores that came in after my escape.”“So all we need to do is get these Alchemicals and bring them back here?” you ask.“There’s actually one more part. The cradle you’re in right now has read permissions but not write ones. For that you need an Alchemical Cradle with deep layer scanning technology along with writing permissions.” Doctor Rosenberg states. “If I had access to one of those, I could extract the code, develop it, then use the same computer to install updates on all Alchemicals to disable the GPS tracker.”“There’s a catch isn’t there.” you ask.“There are three Alchemical Cradles in the city itself Subbasement 8 had installed as backups. All of them are under extremely heavy military guard.” Doctor Rosenberg says.“Wait you’re saying that we’d need to break into a heavily defended military position with you as an escort, place an Alchemical that Doctor Trine had worked on in the chair while being completely helpless the entire time, with the military knowing full well that we’re there and will be sending literally everything they’ve got to stop us the instant we start?” you ask.
[2/2]“...On the bright side we only need to do it once.” Doctor Rosenberg states.“That’s one times too many.” you groan in your chair. “Strike Force Zer0 is going to be there, and I barely held out for a minute. Holding out for 15 minutes will require some sort of miracle.”“It was a miracle you escaped in the first place.” Doctor Rosenberg says. “Go ahead and rest up for now. I’m sure the others are fine and I want to see what I can learn of your code for now.”You give a small nod, following Doctor Rosenberg’s advice and leaning back to rest up in the Alchemical Cradle. You don’t know why, but whenever you lie down in one of these things it feels rather soothing, the very sensation that carries you off into blissful sleep from the racing that your mind was doing earlier.******MISSION 15 COMPLETE!+15 Normal XP gained!+10 Normal XP gained!+1 Alchemical XP for holding out alone!+1 Alchemical XP for leaving Doctor Ledeel alive!Your current Normal XP values are:Available/spent/Total = 15 / 170 / 185Your current Alchemical XP values are:Available/spent/Total = 14 / 199 / 213( >>1097208 oops sorry about that. ADA recommendations:Recommended Normal XP PurchasesOptical Shroud “Dynamic Cloaking Module”: Able to move at much faster speeds while cloaked, extending the range one can move while cloaked (Slow speed -> Normal Movement -> Running speed -> Any distance), in addition each additional purchase lowers the penalty of moving while cloaked by 1 (3 XP each)Optical Enhancement “Diagnostic Overlay”: Tell the health of a subject with just a few seconds scanning them, listing all health problems and issues. Can also tell the exact health levels of all opponents. (6 XP)Optical Enhancement “Thermal Vision”: See in Infrared spectrum, allowing you to see heat of the target. (6 XP)NEW Advanced Stalker Protocols “Maximized Damage Processor”: When making an attack from stealth, up to [Appearance] threshold successes on the roll are doubled while on a decisive attack a likewise amount of threshold successes are added to the damage. That’s right, the prettier you are the harder you hit. (6 XP)Advanced Stalker Protocols “Split Second Reactionary Attack”: If Hibiki’s sneak attack is enough to KO or kill her opponent, than she may immediately make a second surprise attack against an opponent within close range of her target provided that she was not seen by either of them. The damage for the second attack is any damage dice that failed to show up as a success on the last damage roll plus any 10s that shown up during it (6 XP)Impenetrable Repulsor Field “Directional Field Focus”: When Celerity Enabling Module is active, the cost of Impenetrable Repulsor Field is reduced to 1i per health level, literally doubling the efficiency.Omnisituational Evasion Equation “Reality Phasing Protocols”: When Evasion Equation is active Hibiki becomes phased out of the local dimension enough so that she’s actually capable of performing such feats as walking directly through solid walls. Additionally, detecting her by touch subtracts two successes from any roll. (6 XP, requires Manipulation 4)Celerity Enabling Module “Rapid Weakness Analysis Stance”: A small computer is installed with Celerity Enabling Module, pointing out ever so subtle mistakes in the opponent’s posture. When Celerity Enabling Module is active, have a small chance to gain extra defense in order to avoid attacks.
