You watch as the small square sails plum out and the boat drift away with its six crew members. You stand still in the crowd which you tower over. A beacon of impurity. After several minutes of watching the wooden bead slowly drift into the dense fog the crowd disperses and the day slowly edges onward. It marches along to the constant rhythmic hammering of nails or the footsteps of workers repairing and preparing the ship's hull and cargo while cleaning the ever-present mess below. Often you let your mind wonder and you constantly think not in a worried fashion but of unchained curiosity of what is to come. Every now and then your thoughts are stopped as people would ask you to help carry something too heavy or to help tie off a rope which would be too high for them. Although it is rather annoying and tedious you still find enjoyment through working with your hands something which was stolen from you while kept away reading endless tomes.

Footsteps ring outside of your door early in the morning which causes you to wake up earlier than you're used to. You quickly leave your own bed to investigate. You notice that the cot Lilissa slept in before is still here before you exit into a small crowd of murmuring tieflings looking curiously at the sea. Since the departure of Janne the sun set and rose once before people began to stir about seeing a small lantern out on the right side of the ship or the starboard as some of the older tieflings who sailed once call it. The slowly drifting light in the distance gets closer by the minute before you begin to hear the water splash against wood as it cuts through. You first see the front of the ship before you hear the crackling of fire. Several gasps are heard and a few start to yell as the pyre slowly gains distance.

You were uncertain it was your own ship before you spotted the crudely inscribed elk head. Quickly the tieflings lift the anchor with your help allowing yourselves to move out of the burning monument and let it pass by harmlessly. You are certain those who were on the ship were killed. There are those who begin to call for revenge.

Softly spoken curses fill the air as the flaming ship floats past. You shake your head and then call out, "Prepare for war! Bring the ships about! We make land at midnight!"

After your sudden announcement many simply agree but then Baskil hears it and finds you and then quietly asks, "Roc, if you would, I would like to talk to you in private."

With a nod the two of you make your way to your cabin. You sit on the large desk and the tiefling closes the door behind. "We really do not have the resources to begin a war with another nation. We've lost enough already and if we truly wish to make the journey to find these duergar then we should abstain from any more conflict. Besides, we are an entire ship down and now even less room on this ship."

He points to his sister's cot and shakes his head. "This.. this conglomerate will only cost us more. We don't understand them nor do we know anything about their forces."

He sighs and then sits on the cot and places his head in his hands. You nod slowly and soon you hear a rapping at your doors before they open to the sight of the Fallen. "War did you say?"

"No.. we couldn't sustain a war like that or at least not now. We will take a single ship and go to the docks with the strongest and try to negotiate with them," you say plainly now as you stand up from your desk.

"And if they refuse to speak?" The Fallen asks.

"If they refuse then they forfeit. If there will be bloodshed then it will be theirs," you say and then the Fallen nods quickly and turns to leave. You find the spellbreaker and strap it to your side before you leave. You ignore the hurried footsteps around you and spot Malatish standing with his arms folded behind him. He stands with nearly forty tieflings donned in steel plating with swords and shields. Taking a look at your own you find the original twelve tieflings along with ten others armed and fitted with armor of equal quality. Around sixty-two along with the Fallen and Belophus are ready in the short time. You notice a few have found muskets hidden in the storage room but, as they don't know how use them, they simply leave them.

You decide to meet with Malatish on the Red Blade as it is the fastest ship in your recently acquired fleet. "Roc, if this goes poorly then you will take the blame. However we should take the Red Blade if we want to escape quickly."

"Or.." the Fallen chimes in as he gently floats down from the monarch. "We take The Monarch's Tempest. It has the most cannons and it is quite the strong ship from memory of the previous encounters."

"The angel is right." You sigh. "Board the Monarch. We will have the one who are not fighting stay in the other ships."

"Having five-sixth of our forces staying on ships not fit to support such numbers is worrisome to say the least," Malatish says as he crosses his arms and places one hand to his chin. "You stated.."

"Board the monarch," you say before talking flight in a swift push off from your massive wings. Soon you see the two ships near each other like an odd courting ritual and then they trade passengers. A few of the ones who are not fitted in equipment decide to stay on the monarch. Around fifty unarmed or poorly armed men and women stand stoically alongside the sixty-odd tieflings donned in armor. You land quickly to the ship to stop this. Malatish spots you and notices this as well. "There wasn't enough room on the other ships. These are volunteers."

"Malatish, they will not properly defend themselves like this. I suspect you are behind this then," you say as you narrow your eyes. "Insubordination."

"However.. this is acceptable," you sigh giving into the idea. "They can work the ship."

"Then we should hurry. Nightfall will be on us soon," Malatish says in a formal snap before turning to face the others and walking away in a rhythmic fashion. "Prepare the ship. We move now."

Within several minutes the ship begins to move in a jolting push as the sails spring open and with Malatish at the helm. Around a hundred souls embark towards Triglav with a quick turn and changing of the heading. Eastbound you stand at the bow of the ship looking forward with stern determination. The small waves splash against the ships hull and the crew waits quietly. Soon a few lights pierce the thick fog which heralding the city's port.

As you near you can clearly see walls which flack the docks crowned with pointed cone-like tower roofs. The walls are a stark contrast from the dull fog as they are all brightly painted with reds, yellows, blues and other various colors. A thin bridge lies over the port connecting the two towers. Getting closer you can make out several figures hanging below the bridge with signs hanging around their necks each written in a foreign language. Six hang from the thin bridge freshly executed including four men, a woman and a short pudgy demon all skinned. Many shield their eyes or look away at the grim sight of the bare red bodies hanging by the neck and swaying in the wind.

You pass under the bridge and find yourself in a large open port with two ships. A large ship without a regalia and one smaller ship with triangular sails and a painted blue fleur-de-lis and a black cross behind it embroiled onto the sail itself.

"Figures. That would probably be the reason," one of the armored tieflings behind you calls out and then spits on the ground near him. "Fucking hunters."

Curiously you've never known of the hunters having ships or their own nor do you care to do further inquiry. You watch closely as the ship slowly begins to move into the near empty docks. A few hushed words call out to each other before a man wearing some thick brown animal fur clothing and a hat with a large red bird embroiled onto the front. He takes a few steps before your ship stops completely in the docks with a weirdly impressive expertise from Malatish. The solitary man walks with profound snappiness and rhythmic steps as he nears the ship and turns on his heels to face portside. "I speak language. You will speak now or will never. Do now."

You narrow your eyes and stare at the man before you. "I am here to ask why those six hang above your port."

"The Svuynatroisk conglomerate speaks that they are of an ally's traitor," the man says speaking heavily accented and then points lazily toward the triangular sailed ship. "They are headhunters. They take care of the traitors. We watch. Not fun."

"The Svuynatroisk?" You say slowly and with much trouble. "Who are they?"

"They are leads. Tsars -- king -- of the smallers cities. We make the svuynatroisk. They make us." The man sighs and then watches another man walk up who then hands a clipboard to him. The man flips through the pages and then rests on a single one which he promptly pens in something. "Now you answer. Who are you?"

"I am Roc," you say simply.

"No. Not of personally. You as whole." The man then scratches out something else.

"We are nomads," you say with equal enthusiasm.

"Nomads? Oh, wonders." He pens in something else. "Why are you here? You can not see hung men far."

"Those hanging out there were under my charge. When they did not return I came to inspect. If what you say is true then the headhunters are the reason I came here," you say as the man's pen rapidly moves across paper. He lowers the board and pen before he places a hand on his chin.

"Forlinde is ally. If you wish to revenge then I must ask you no," the man says before placing the clipboard under his arm and walks away. Soon twenty men wearing various trinkets and gear arrives along with the man. "You speak civil. I know you are of demon but you must not attack if wish to stay with good will Svuynatroisk. No attack each."

The man then leaves and enters a guard house. The twenty odd men stand awkwardly at a distance away from the ship. You peer over the side still standing at the bow. "Headhunters, I was told you had slain those under me. What do you have in defense?"

"Money," one of them says simply before another elbows him in the side.

"Money is part of it but these are the scum Forlinde will pay for us to kill. You are also on the same list. At the top. A demon will always catch a fair price. Luckily we found that fat one with a little help from a friend," the headhunter says before another pulls a man with a black beard wearing dark robes who has been bound by chains. "Since they outlawed it none were to complain."

You can sense it. Magicka. "You captured and enslaved a user?"

"Yes," another says dryly. They all seemed ready to draw their blades.

"Forlinde is enslaving magi? How sad. I assume the Svuynatroisk are not inclined to agree with those who enslave them," you say edging them on. "I for one find it interesting. Why would Forlinde need to enslave magi?"

The black bearded man struggles against the chains as well as the hunter's grip on his arm. A hunter shakes his head and takes a knife which he threatens the magi with. "Magi are outlawed. But the trick with them is that you can't hunt them without you being one yourself."

"How quaint," you scoff. "Forlinde crippled itself and now steals from others to gain which it itself cut out. You are weak. Those slain, those hanging there, were of my charge. I wonder.. what would a small ship like yours do when they are found to be heretical and speaking with demons?"

"You.." the hunter then turns around and whispers to his fellow men before turning back. "We are the law. Heretics are those who hang there."

The hunters then pull their blades and push forward the magi. "Though.. speaking with demons is the reason they hang. The same reason you will hang."

"I don't think he talks to himself that much," one of the hunters say before drawing his bow back. "We can't hang him."

A few hunters move back to their ship as the rest begin to prepare for a fight.

You move away from your pedestal like vantage and wave over the unarmed tieflings to move to the cannons that face portside. Quickly around nine or twelve tieflings move to the cannons and Malatish begins to call to the armored tieflings to begin to disembark. After several seconds the cannons fire and you watch as the hot lead sinks into the wooden vessel breaking and tearing through each plank and felling a mast.

The hunters who were headed to the ship reel back and cover their eyes as they watch their ship become pelted by the boulder-sized ordinance. They retreat and you can see a few armed guards line the walls which surrounds the port. The hunters bunch up and raise their shields forming a semi circle rounded on the sides with the magi in the center.

Malatish's stoic face is betrayed by flashes of anger as he calls out commands to get onto the port and attack the hunters with him in lead. With both parties screaming cries of war the tieflings charge the shield wall as the few returning hunters form into their shield wall. Bells begin to ring.

Thinking quickly you run towards the small crate stowed away within the cargo of The Monarch's Tempest and collect three gold bars. With your blade secured you lift off with your massive wings to reach the tall walls to your right and you hand the guards the three gold bars which they are reasonably terrified by your visage. Hanging onto the side of the wall like a primate you lean in and whisper, "Leave now."

The six guards nearest to you look to each other and simply nod a few guards ignore you and run toward the towers near the entrance. You then push off with your feet and dive back down toward the hunters and the tieflings. With a hard thud you slam down behind the hunters causing dust to rise and the hard thick wood below to crack beneath your weight. The hunters notice you instantly and some jump at the very sound of your landing although they still hold their shields facing the tiefling charge by Malatish. You rise with you wings folding back and you draw your blade. You watch the faces of the twenty odd hunters twist and contort in horrified hatred as you loom over them standing twice their size.

You move with a demonic speed and in one move you grab the magi and tear him away from the hunters dragging two who were holding onto the chains which bind the magi. The shield wall begins to break from the two missing hunters and the magi who you suppose reinforced the group in some way. The tieflings continue to barrage the hunters with strikes against their shields yet both seem to become weaker after several minutes of constant back and forth exchanging of blows. Although the tieflings are somewhat numerous but untempered you can clearly see the hunters are doing impressively well with the numbers they have however little they are.

Like hammer and anvil the blade will not form correctly without proper treatment and heat. You decide to provide the heat. You spread your palms flat and stretch them forward as ethereal fires burn and envelope you before condensing and then spewing forth in a large arc of fire. The flames lick the backs of the hunters burning through simpler clothing and heating armors to a red hot plates singeing the skin below.

The hunters closest to you scream out in sudden pain as their wounds burn and spread across their flesh. A few fall down but the ones closest to the tieflings still hold stalwart and only the few who do fall are replaced by ones unaffected by the flames. Before you can act again you can hear screaming behind you and you turn to see the two you tossed charge you.

You turn to meet the assailants with your own blade quickly and parry the wild overhead swings from the hunters before you lean back and kick them down. You hear the sounds of swords meeting shields and then them making their marks behind you and decide to continue to press these two hunters. With the tieflings watching you from the ship you party another blow from one which quickly got up before you grab their neck and toss them into the frigid water. You turn to the next target who again charges you which you dodge uncharacteristically well and allow the hunter to fumble past before you swing upward and tear into his unarmored back making him writhe in pain.

The hunter falls into line with the shield wall while still facing you. Though the wall is beginning to crumble the hunters still retaliate with feverous vigor. The tieflings begin to break through the wall with little effort pushing past and cutting deep into the hunters flesh. From here you can see the bodies that lay both tiefling and hunter however not in equal numbers.

Even curiouser you can spot something moving at the towers. Under the thin bridge there begins to be a large grate coming out of the two towers before meeting together closing off the port from the sea. Malatish notices the same and before the hunters are completely finished he orders the rest of the tieflings to retreat to the ship.

You dig your heels into the wooden docks and spring forward into the hunters flank before the can either chase the tieflings or turn and face you. Swinging rapidly you dismember an arm from the nearest hunter who stretched it out unknowingly at the retreating tieflings. In one fluid movement you swing over and cleave another hunters head releasing the hunter from the worry his face so clearly portrayed. If the hunters had not noticed or had not worried about you behind them then now their target is clearly you.

Standing twice their height and easily twice their weight in muscle you swing in an arc as blood mists out into the fog creating a grim sight of bodies covering the docks. Three fall in one swing and three more in another. The last few hunters break off and try to run unknowing you vast power. Activating haste you move through the now falling bodies and in a gracefully savage spin win an outstretched arm you catch the few with a long deep cut across their backs. If they are not crippled then they are scarred for life. You blade seems to vibrate as if in joy as the last lifeless body drops coldly.

You turn your gaze back to the now closed grate and then back to the magi.

You stare at the still stunned man and while still being enchanted you pick him up. In a huge gust of wind you lift off and quickly move past the ship which you drop the magi as close to the ground as possible while trying not to land. You call out behind you, "Take the ship out! Head for the exit!" before you speed past the vessel.

The two large towers with the wall encase the port with a large distance between the two towers now occupied by a grate connected at the middle. The high walls allow for obvious coverage of the port and you can guess that if an enemy ship was ever kept in they would be able to fire inward and essentially trap the ship like a rabbit.

As you approach the tall towers, which stand nearly twice the size of The Monarch's Tempest, you can see just that. A few guards, around ten, stand with curved bows along the wall. They do not fire as you get in range and they simply have their bow strings pulled back and ready. You hover a few feet away from the wall and they still hesitate.

You slowly get closer and climb up the wall landing on the edge. You look around the guardsmen who are all staring forward with drawn strings. "I can only guess you've seen my work," you say as you turn back to point out the bodies still laying lifeless on the docks. A wicked smile creeps across your visage. "Many seem to have.. mindlessly attacked me and it was only fitting since they weren't even using it in the first place. I do hope you few wouldn't be so careless."

The Svuynatroiskan guards still stand unwavering except for a few who speak with each other in their own rough language. One of the guards nod and steps forward and as he does the rest release the strings tension slowly before snapping back wards and standing straight. The man who stepped forward make his was to you and produces a circular pendant with words on it and hands it to you silently.

"This is gift. Release self and never return. Magi must return though," he says with a heavy accent quickly after clearing his throat. "You leave now."

"What is this.. this pendant?" You ask as you take it.

"It is gift," the man says plainly.

"I still need to get warm clothing and fresh food I would like to trade --" you begin to say before the guard shakes his head and starts to talk.

"No no. You leave now. Trade later north," the man says as he motions toward the gatehouse. The grate slowly comes apart and The Monarch's Tempest drifts slowly towards the exit. You look back to the circular pendant which is a round piece of wood with a string tied to it. You don't know what the words mean but you assume it means something kind.

You then begin to move away to return to the ship before the guard grabs at you. "Return magi then leave."

You nod and the guard releases your arm. You spread your wings and simply fall off the wall toward the ship. Your wings catch wind and slows you down as you land on the Monarch. You find the magi standing near the front of the ship and you grab him. Your wings massive wings launches you upward as if in a leap you land onto the wall and release the magi. The man dusts himself off and nods back at you. The guard walks over to the magi and whispers something in his ears and then the magi too produces a pendant with different writing on it.

"Give me yours and I make better." He says and so you do and he places the two pendants together which in a bright light produces a small golden locket with similar inscriptions and hands it to you. "No trade. Go north and show this. They will trade. Only sanctified demons are allowed. Stay wary of way north. Men of beasts live north and much war."

The magi finishes after struggling to find his words and the bows to which the rest bow as well. You nod and fly back to your ship in silence. From what you can gather this locket acts as a sort of passport or license for trade and you place it around your neck.

The next hour is sat in silence as the ship makes its way back to the other ships who waits patiently in a cluster. You have only been gone for the last three or four hours but it feels a bit longer than that. Many sigh in relief as they see the other ships.

"Get back in your ships. We make for the next village in the north," you say as The Monarch's Tempest drops its anchor to stabilize. After several minutes the ships come together and exchanges crew. You retreat back to your cabin as well as your mind. It's pitch black outside as you left as it just began to get dark. From what you can tell Malatish lost around six tieflings in that fight. Any loss is still a shared loss and many mourn for their dead brethren.

You take a deep breath and sigh as you look around the large cabin. From what you can tell is that this ship was probably originally built for a nephilim as the cabin is perfectly sized for them along with its furnishings. Several minutes pass as you inspect the various books and legal documents about trade as well as small star charts and interesting navigation instruments. Such ingenuity though they are not the first to do so. As you are deeply immersed with your investigation you hardly notice Lilissa step in and get into her cot.

You wonder for a second why she didn't undress and then go to sleep like she had done in the prison but you quickly push that out of your thoughts. You agree with Lilissa and decide that it is late and you too should find rest so you climb into you bed. Your eyes slowly close and your vision turns black.

————————•|||||

Your eyes open to the sound of busy feet moving past you. You stand on a stone slab path surrounded by people who are all moving rapidly to and from some personal destination. They all ignore you. You're only an observer of such behavior. Such monotonous and rhythmic movements surround.

Hushed speech fills the air. A crackle and a pop silences it. Fire. You see fire. It fills your vision and its heat is tremendous. Scattered.

————————•|||||

Your eyes open to the sound of busy feet hitting the wooden deck outside. Wind howls about you and all you can hear is the constant sound of waves crashing into the hull of the ship.

You shake your head groggily and make your way to the doors. You notice Lilissa still sleeping but decide to ignore her and you open the doors.

https://youtu.be/kxX039DmeEw

The frozen rain spews forth as you open the doors and the wind pushes it open in a quick gust of wind slamming it into you. You cover your eyes with your hand and step onto the slippery wooden deck and quickly shut the door behind. Several tieflings move to try to tie down the sails so they are not torn by the fast winds. Lightning flashes above setting the sky alight for a moment and casting vicious shadows below. You see a tiefling struggling to tie down a rope so you move past a bucket which is sliding across the constantly moving deck and reach the tieflings.

Patting their back you move and tie the rope down letting them go and get under the deck. Several tieflings are climbing up the masts toward the higher sails to close them. In another flash of light you can see the massive waves which taunt the ship and threaten to crash down onto it.

Can't lose either.

You quickly move around the ship trying not to slip and to try to make sure the cannons are secured. Going from each cannon you move to see and inspect their restraints. Each flash. Each strike you hear the sea curse back at the sky growing ever more wrathful. While tying down anything on the deck you keep a close eye upward to make sure none have slipped from the masts or is caught in the rigging.

After several minutes of hectic moving to and from the cannons and staring back up you seem to have finished tying anything you see down. Keeping your eyes up and resisting the biting frozen rain you try to fly upward to help. You open your wings and suddenly thrashed backwards into the cabin doors. With a loud thud you push off of the doors and close your wings.

It would be best to just simply climb up then.

You begin to slowly move forward toward the masts digging your heels and toes into the wooden planks below less become another kite in the storm. As you near the tall mast you see a large wave constantly coming towards the ship. Ignoring this you begin to climb. The higher you get the larger the wave seems to become.

With each careful placement of limbs you slowly make your way upwards. Soon you reach the tieflings who are struggling with a rope caught on some other rigging. You wave them off and yell for them to get down quickly. They nod and use the rigging as a way to slide down to the deck. The constant wind and the flapping of the closed sails above fills your ears as you struggle to tie the knot. It is caught on some pulley so you cut it with your sword. Success.

You free the rope and tie down the sails just in time. You wipe your now soaking face with your bare palm and then look towards the tempestuous sea. It beckons forth and a massive maw opens up.

It swallows you whole. The frozen sea water stings your skin. Cold ice fills your veins.

You spin without direction within the frozen waters. You grasp at the water to try to find holding and only find you've held only water. Your breath stopped and your two hearts beat incessantly as if to some unheard song of war. Like drums their patterns do not break. Your glowing eyes close as you drift downward with outstretched arms. The constant freezing cold as a reminder of your impure life.

Like a stone you sink.

————————•|||||

Darkness surrounds you. It pierces your very being. This blackness hangs across your skin as if some barrier or a distant reminder. Drip. The blank canvass before you sets aflame. Drip. The water comes. Drip. The flood begins. Drip. You stand before a light. Drip. It beckons forth. Drip.

Drop.

————————•|||||

Water pushes against your body as you lay. Below you you can feel a soft frozen gradient like small stones. Your eyes blink open slowly and you see you've happened across a coast line. You flip over onto your back as you cough out some water. The sky is a azure almost purple color as if in a permanent and distant dawn. There are no clouds. Your eyes blink absently at the blank sky. The shore is littered with debris but you're not sure it is just you ship as most if not all of the wood has rotted. This sea is indeed a tempestuous lady. Your thoughts quickly shift to those back on the ship as you notice that only you lay on the shore. Alone.

You sit up and shake your head as you wipe off the sand and any seaweed still attached to you. The air itself is frozen and still. The fog does not dare enter this realm and sits at a distance.

You push yourself off of the beach and check your side to make sure your blade is still secured. The beach itself is surrounded by raised and bare stone in a semi circle. Each small wave ebbs away more and more. The sand itself is still wet so you assume it is low tide. In the distance you can spot through a purple haze the peaks of various mountains all capped with the same snow which covers the landscape. Though it is not all barren as you can see charred trees as if burned by some great past fire.

You make your way onto one of the raised stones and look out onto the frozen landscape beyond. You can see now that not all of the winds have stood still and you can see in the distance curious currents of purple and blue hues gliding through the air. You bend your knees and crouch over and touch the ground. It is covered in snow which in closer inspection is not just snow but crystals of raw mana. Magicka pure. Immaterial. Essence. Stuff of intense magical properties. You let the snow sift through your hands before you run them together. You assume the mountains forward are the ones you are after and you are standing in the mana wastes though you're unsure how you've come to be here. From what you can tell three or more days have passed since the storm since it would have been impossible to have reached the shore that fast under it. You place your hand on your bare chest and you still feel the golden locket though now it feels warm to the touch.

Though there are trees you cannot see any wildlife and if there is then they're hidden away. You cannot see any grass below the snow and you cannot see any plants other than the burned trees from your vantage. The white barren landscape before you bounds toward walls of stone. You look around the small sandy beach and its rugged shore which extends far into the distance and find that most of the crates and barrels are marked with some insignia of a ship with three anchors tied around it by rope and another rope which encompasses it in a circle. The majority of the crates which have it has been weathered away and if there was writing it has become illegible.

These crates are not yours as you've never seen such an insignia. You decide to open the first one nearest to you and see a small creature slithering like a grass snake but slimy like a snail. It is surrounded by some seaweed and ruined paper. You close it before the creature tires to jump out and move away from it. As far as you can tell all the wood here is either too wet to catch fire or too rotten to be of any use.

You leave the shore and inspect one of the trees if they could be used for a simple fire. As you do so you notice that much of the trees also have odd carvings as if runes or a magical script. Each tree seemed to have this curving script inscribed into its charred wood and as you try to peel back the bark it feels as if magic itself has been stored into it.

Like a cocoon the tree then cracks away from the dark charred bark and blooms into a bright and vibrantly glowing blue with leaves as if it was dormant the entire time. The now bloomed tree is soft to the touch and feels as if it is sunlight itself. As you do this you spot a small cave like hole in the near distance.

You run your hand against the soft tree as you move past it. You walk toward the cave you spotted earlier as you were inspecting the tree. The soft snow crunches as it gives way to your massive weight and you find yourself stepping on the hard rugged rock below. As you near the cave the wind seems to pick up and you can feel the magicka become palpable in the air.

The cave itself is a small outcropping of stone which covers a hole that extends downward almost made by hand or carved out. Snow and ice piled up on the outcropping hides the entrance well enough. As you enter the low ceiling cave you find yourself staring at a skeleton of something humanoid clutching to a crate. The skeletons clothing is tattered but looks like it was once suited well for the environment. It is a large skeleton almost like a cambion or a nephilim but you're unsure. Around it lies two others of equal proportions clutching small possessions including a gladiolus like sword and a large round shield. Their arms seem to have been some corrupted or magical disfigurement probably due to the wild magicka about.

You sigh deeply and turn to look at the now rushing winds outside. A skitter. A crack. You think you heard something from below.

You crouch over the deformed skeletons and begin to rummage through their belongings starting with the one clinging to a crate. You brush off the skeleton's hand from the crate and open it. Though you expected something useful you only found a book titled "Ma'adim Esoterica" which is written in some other language you're not privy to and a journal which you can guess is the half giant's own recordings. The book itself seems to be much older than any of the skeletons present and is written in some language you can only guess to either be and ancient form of either dwarven or elvish and both are unknown to you. The journal is however written in old common.

You flip through the various pages and come across a drawing of some sort of thing. It has straight lines and repeated patterns as if a plan for a city but has half of it ripped out of the journal. The other bodies hold similarly interesting items including a set of cards with blank faces unless in direct sunlight, a small necklace similar to your own locket, and a large canteen filled with a glowing blue liquid.

The clothing is too torn to salvage so you leave it be along with rusted weaponry and worn shields that are equally useless. You stand to notice that the first skeleton isn't near his crate but outside. The skeleton seemed to have been dragged outside by something but you're unsure. You turn to see the other skeletons have done the same. The outside winds are howling loudly and snow is beginning to pick up.

You move from the littered entrance and make your way into the small cave proper. Though it is oddly large you still have to bend your head down to avoid your horns getting caught on anything or hitting your head on a particularly low cave formation. The light from outside is barely enough to completely light the entire cave but from what you can see it is a square room with a raised circular dish in the center.

From what you can tell is that the dish once held the same mysterious liquid from the canteen. Behind you at the mouth of the cave you can hear the wind still rages on and you can hear cloth in the wind. You turn to see the three skeletons standing still outside. Like statues they stare outward and are unmoving even in the fast winds which spins their clothes. Their still attached skin and small amounts of muscle tear off of their bodies in a gruesome display of force from the wind.

The three skeletons then turn back and face you with the small amounts of flesh falling off of their bones.

You turn back from the skeletons and pour the continents of the canteen out onto the dish. Your assumptions were right in guessing that the liquid was originally inside the dish itself as a musical not begins to ring loudly. As you finish you turn back and the skeletons begin to charge you as the cave begins to rumble and move. The light from the dish spews outward and begins to shine brightly filling the air. The winds outside seem to have stopped suddenly and almost solidified in place. Right as the skeletons enter the room they dissipate and crumble instantly.

A door then protrudes out and covers the entrance and the outside world and another one opens in the far right both look flush with the walls themselves with the only indication of the once entrance being the snow and the bones. In the center the light forms into a beam and shoots upward into a now open hole. The room itself is square and surrounding the dish are stone chairs. On the walls there are mounted shelfs which hold worn and ruined books that look as if burned by some ancient fire.

The dish begins to hum a low deep sound as it beams upward into the sky.

You look around the now brightly lit room and spot several small holes within the stone wall. Upon further inspection you can see that each one holds a silver cup. There are seven cups and seven chairs so one for every chair. Each cup has a face on it and each one looks equally twisted and horrifying except for one which seems oddly attractive. The stone itself looks like a dull black that you can only guess was once polished. You can see no imperfections within the stone work. Each wall looks as if carved with extreme precision from a single block. The chairs, shelves and the dish look as if they simply sprout from the stone itself.

You shake your head and look towards the door that had opened in the far left and as far as you can tell is a set of spiraling stairs which lead downwards. You follow the stair and soon find yourself in complete darkness as the light from the dish disappears behind you. As you continue you summon a dense fireball which you hold before it becomes too hot and you dissipate it. Doing this several times you reach the bottom of the steps which opens to a large dark room.

Your improvised light source does not reach the cowling nor the other sides as you enter into the room. Behind you the door shuts and becomes flush with the wall itself. There is a single shaft of light which shines down onto another dish which is filled with a silver liquid. Surrounding the dish there is a large circle of white which is also written in the unknown language of the book.

You look around the dark room with your improvised torch ignoring the dish. Surrounding the dish are pillars which extend upwards which presumably connects with the ceiling. Looking back to the wall where you came from you can spot the bottom of a mural which is carved directly into the wall. You can see some grass and an elk with what you can guess are hooded hunters of some sort stalking their prey from the trees. You cannot see the rest of the mural but you guess it has to do with hunting. You follow the wall until you fin a corner which stands a small black bowl with a gold band around its lip.

The bowl is empty so you ignore it. Beside the bowl are two benches which are also flush with the wall. As if carved in one piece. You move and follow the next wall which also has a mural. This one has a few things and displays a large tree with many different heraldry which depict various animals and forest scenery. As you inspect this mural you come across another room. Inside you find it is littered with cooking post and pans hanging from the ceiling over rectangular counters with stoves imbedded into the walls. A cooking spit sits in the middle in a large depressed circle with a lip of smooth stone incasing the sides.

This room leads into another which opens into an even larger room filled with the same stonework for long tables and benches. On top of the tables lie various tools of cutlery, plates, bowls and baskets which all have lids on them. Though the room has been here for ages you can barely see any dust. At one end lies a large table facing forward with seven tall seats sitting at it. In the center lies a larger chair than the others along with a robed figure hunched over. You instinctively callout to it. "Hello?"

You move closer with your improvised torch. You pass the long tables before they light suddenly. Each candle that sat atop them became lit with an eerie blue flame. Blurry figures move around the shadows and then the far door opens and two blue figures enter. As they near you can see they are both wearing the same robes and one of them carries some books close to their chest. They near you and then simply pass through you unaltered and sit down. You can clearly see their faces. One a female the other a make but both are elves. The blue flames flicker and more figures begin to enter the dining hall.

They all speak some form of elvish that you assume is what the book you've acquired is written in. Soon you see six figures sit at the head table and they watch the others. The seventh middle figure still sit hunched over.

"Hello?" You try again. The figure then leans back and you can see their face. Clearly elvish but with silver hair and black skin without a sign of age.

"Tov me'od," they say as they narrow their eyes. "Ma shimkha?"

The elf looks displeased as you stay silent. They stand and the hallow blue figures flicker. "What is your name, demon?"

"Roc," you say plainly. "What is yours, elf?"

The elf looks taken aback for a second before narrowing their eyes. "I was once called many things and now they are all lost within time. You may call me ArchRab as it was once my title here."

"What is this place and why are you here? What are these blue figures and who are they?" You ask quickly but clearly.

"Efshar ledaber yoter le-at?" The elf says before shaking his head clearly distressed. "Slowly. Please."

"What is this place?" You then settle on. The elf ponders this for a moment before jumping over the table with robes fluttering about. The blue figures disappear instantly.

"This place was once a beacon for those who sought out knowledge." They say clearly with short pauses in between each word as they approach you. Now you can tell they are clearly a female elf. Her eyes violet. "This was a.. school of sorts."

"Why are you here then? The place is deserted," you ask as the elf begins to circle you.

"Harahefet sh'eli mele'ah betzlofahim," she says and laughs slightly. "This place is full of life, demon. I am here because I am meant to be. I was once the head teacher, the ArchRab, and I intend to care for this place."

"Who are the blue figures?"

"They are the life. Imprints of the past. An age that has long left," she says as the blue figures return identically to how they originally arrived. The two elves enter and then the rest follow suit. "Are they not admirable? Doom imminent and so ignorant."

"You said this was once a school. A school of what?" You say as the elf stops circling you.

"This was a university of magic. Like the rest of the nation this city relied on magic an its usefulness so this school was started and I appointed. Roc, this school was to teach those who would learn," she says before turning to the blue figures. "Such a place."

"You mentioned a doom," you say as you step closer to her.

"Ah... yes," she says and with a wave of her hand the figures move rapid as if going through time. "The corruption. Follow me."

The two of you make your way through the large room with the dish and through a library and into a room with various bobbles and trinkets laying on tables. At the center sits a large dish with another inscription surrounding it. With a wave the figures all instantly stop. She walks over to a young elf who is mixing liquids together. A silver liquid, a black ichor, a red blob, a glowing green one and a glowing blue one. "This gentleman, Daravos, mixes these five elements and arrives to a very interesting outcome."

Demons sprout from behind him and laugh as they run past. The blue figures then begin to move and in an instant a huge explosion ripples through the elves. Each one exploding into green flames burning their skin or killing them instantly.
