You awake in your barracks to a rather rude intrusion of a bolter in your mouth, the Commissar, with a disappointed smile, pulls the deadly piece of weaponry away form your face.

"Get up soldier first day on the job maggot and you already slept in, so unless you want a bolt to the ass get ready and get out. NOW!" The commissar roars the last part at you before leaving you to get dressed.

You groan once he is out of ear shot, a penal legion that is what you got thrown in because you forgot to salute a passing imperial officer who took offense to that. You still wonder if you will ever get to see your homeworld of Agripinaa again. Hell at this point you can't even remember what it looked like. But at this point you could not care less.

Now begins your life in the Imperial guard but first you need to find your gear....

Welcome to Guardsman quest.

Praise the emprah!
>>
Consider this initial offering to be a trial run of things to come, assuming it does not burn in flames. I’ll drop a Twitter/etc. at the end if it seems there’s enough interest for another session/chapter.

If you’re a die-hard lover of canon, I suggest you turn away now. This is where the madness lives and dies by your dice rolls and fun beats cannon here.

also here is the character sheet, https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1VEdRRmqRN2wb661ea1Bz2iXQwqQl2JVgl1OdrmHk3Tk/edit?usp=sharing

we are doing this dark heresy style so roll below the the check to pass and each 10 below the check adds +1 to success natural 1 is an auto success no matter how hard and natural 100 means failure. you may burn 10 fame if you have it to reroll but only up to 2 times a session. 40k easy for ya.

if you have questions now is the time to ask and I will be pushing the first one out in about 15 minutes
>>

Looks good.

Lets get some people in here for the emprah
>>
You get out of your rather unconfortable bed to look at the room around you, grey and lifeless the only way to describe the barracks with not a soul in sight. shit the commissar was right and you better get moving.

You quickly get out of bed and don your uniform, essentially a cardboard chest-piece and some military grade shirt, pants, and shoes.

You look around to find your favorite weapon, which one was it again?

>[1] Lasrifle, Standard equipment of a Guardsman. little does the commissar know you modified yours a little.
>[2] Chansword, sure its stupid to throw yourself considering you are just a guardsman but that has never stopped you.
>[3] Sniper rifle, you have never needed to go close to your foes they are usually dead far before they knew they were in range.
>>
just reply the number you want. all other parts after this one will have a write in option.
>>
>>1121885
>[3] Sniper rifle, you have never needed to go close to your foes they are usually dead far before they knew they were in range.

Even if our marksmanship skills arent super high, they are still higher than our fellowship. And if we pick the lazrifle or chainsword we will be working in closer tandem with our squad more, which pokes a hole in our meta.

Unless i dont understand the system and lower stats mean better bonuses.

voting will close in 30 min.

Right your trusty Sniper Rifle, thing has never failed you. You find it under your bed wrapped in your coat. You quickly put on your coat and hoist the rifle over your shoulder and run for the door.

As you exit you are partially blinded by the sun momentarily, Right this is one of the reason you did not want to be stuck on this planet. Growing up in a hiveworld you never had to deal with something like the sun in your eyes.

you spot the commissar and rush to her "Guardsman reporting for duty, Sir." She nods, "Lucky you woke up when you did, any later and we would be cleaning you out of the barracks for weeks."

You gulp and nod, being killed is not something you wanted to experience today, "Sir," "My name is Kali soldier," "Commissar Kali what are we fighting today?" she sighs "We are fighting..... Stop asking questions you are supposed to fight not question, press this further and I will make an example of you." Kali turns toward you her face scarred with multiple slash marks and you take a step back.

>[1] y-yes Commissar, I wont ask again
>[2] Sir I believe that if I knew what I was fighting I could be of more use to the Imperium
>[3] Sir you are not my commanding officer so unless you are willing to tell me now point me to where he is

I apologize I miss rolled the stats for dark heresy so let me redo them, I will allocate around the sniper rifle to make sure the past decision does not break us.

done, still good stats so no heartbreak.

[2] but with "Ma'am" instead of "sir"

>[2] Sir I believe that if I knew what I was fighting I could be of more use to the Imperium
>however I recognize the difference in rank, so if you deem me a traitor disobeying orders I will comply with being scrapped
>sir

Stretching it but we should at least get a breif summary.
>>
You muster up your courage and respond to her threat "Ma'am I believe that if I knew what I was fighting I could be of more use to the Imperium," she scowls at you and you quickly continue "I do recognize the difference in rank, so if you deem me a traitor disobeying orders I will comply with being made an example of."

You wait several agonizing minutes sweat trickles down your brow and finally the commissar responds "You have balls guardsman tell me have you ever killed bugs before?" she gives you a cruel smile

"bugs Ma'am I doubt the Imperial guard has much trouble with those things" you release a breath relaxing a little, no blaming today praise the god emperor. The commissar's smile only grows and your stomach plummets "ever heard of Tyranids?" you feel your face go pale you have heard of these things big bugs by the thousands that tear men apart without hesitation, if you had eaten this morning your pants would have changed brown at this news. the Commissar turns to leave then stops "Guardsman what is your name."

Or just simun if simuna sounds too feminine.
>>
alright for the next post im keeping the voting time down to 15 min just so people know how long they have, writing.
>>
you try to swallow but you cant just barely you choke out your name "Simun" the commissar nods and walks away leaving you to muster what courage you have before leaving to face the nids.

all you can think of right now is the stories of how these bugs are supposedly unstoppable, the usual idea of throwing enough corpses at a problem till it disappears does not work on these things. you somewhat remember about some special bullets that work on these things but you cant exactly remember what they were called.

as you stand there a face you recognize walks up to you, its your squad mate Thera. "So good to see you managed to not get your face blown off by Ms.Commissar, really first day and you managed to piss her off last guy who did that was sent home in pieces."

>[1] Thera do you know what rounds work well on nids? (Fel)

Alright 2 it is 1d100 vs 57, you are new at the camp so you don't exactly know where it is, begin the rolling

Eh, I'd keep em open for ten minutes at least. /qst/ is slow, after all.
>>
Ignoring Thera you quickly scan the camp spotting the armory almost immediately and you begin running for it. Thera begins running after you "Where are you going, come on what did she say to you, ANSWER ME DAMN IT!" she yells the last part as you rush though the armory door.

"WHAT WORKS ON NIDS" you shout at the older soldier working in the armory, "by the emperor's rotting balls," he says "calm down boy, why do you need hellfire rounds?" "my commissar told me I would be facing nids, I don't want to die so I need something that will work."

the older soldier shrugs "fine let me see your gun so i can at least give you the right armmo for it," you hand him your sniper which he inspects for a few minutes before handing it back and then reaching to a shelf he gives you a small hard box, "this should work, now remember these things are expensive you only got fifty or so in the box, use em well"

>[1] try and convince him to give you more (Fel)

its fine, ima run this again next saturday at 7 from where this one ends since actual people joined in on this, really made me happy to see that

Well im exited to see where this goes my dude. I ran one quest under a different trip in the past and fucked it up because of inconsistencies in rules and stuff, even if a shit ton of people jumped onto it initially. >>
alright that was fast and boy did you guys pass that one, extra bullets and writing.
>>
We can stockpile the extra rounds under our bunk in case its a short mission, if its a trenches sort of scenario we have to bring everything.
>>
"sir, I'm going to be fighting a lot of nids I need as much ammo as I can get and I think my commissar would be happy to know you did your best to insure that not all under her command would die" the old man looks at you for a few seconds and nods, "alright, alright here take two more boxes. really if nids are showing up better to kill as many as we can in one go." you nod and take the two additional boxes.

you turn toward Thera "the commissar told me nids and now we have a real way of dealing with them." you simply say to her as her mouth hangs open, "really nids well..... oh shit um...... should be getting in that transfer really quick, I'll uh.. see you with the squad." she runs toward the command tent as you make your way over to your squad.

as you get close you hear yelling and suddenly a loud blam. then you hear the familiar voice of Kali "ANYONE ELSE WANT TO SPEAK UP AGAINST THESE ORDERS!?"

>[1] walk in calmly and coolly no need to get an angry commissar more angry
>[2] wait a few minutes best not to get near a blam happy commissar
>[3] sneak in and try to hide the hellfire rounds under your cloak, keep those precious rounds for yourself (Ag)

If the mission criteria demands that we give the hellfire rounds to teammates then im fine with that, no need to be greedy.
>>
>>1122282
The check might be int instead of per but whatever.

int is for when you are trying to work with tech or investigating, per is for on the spot deductions or just seeing shit

Quickly before you enter you stash the three packs under your coat, making sure that there were no bulges you enter and blood, blood splatters all over your face as another deafening blam rings out "ANYONE ELSE!?" Kali roars, now pissed to a point to where her face was as red as her face.

you quickly stop and salute "Guardsman Simun reporting for duty Ma'am" she turns toward you and takes a deep breath visually calming down. "right your here and Thera just got here, we are moving out. NOW!"

quickly you and your squad get in a Chimera and you spot several other squads getting into other vehicles like Leman Russes and other Chimeras "commissar are we getting any other support" one of your squad mates asks, "supposedly ordo xenos and space marines are going to show up but for now no. you ready to die for the imperium's glory boys?" a war cry rings out from your squadmates as the chimera drives out.

alright so 1 means we only do 1 2 means we do both 1 and 2

You see the options field below the name and above the place you type shit normally? Thats where you put the dice

For instance dice+1d100 will roll 1 d100 if copied and pasted into the options field and posted.

ok writing

quickly and effectively you begin loading the hellfire rounds into your rifle. You look at Thera visibly shaking with another squadmate Markiv sitting next to her, it was slightly humorous to see considering Markiv was over 7 feet tall and built like a bear while Thera was below average height and rather skinny.

soon after you are done loading the transport stops "this is our drop point get ready Simun and Thera take position somewhere that you can see the battlefield I want you and your sniper taking out any flying or bigger nids before they can get to us." Kali orders as you and Thera rush out of the transport.

"so um... where do we set up" Thera asks visibly distraught, she must have been turned away when she asked for a transfer.

Are we suggesting where they set up? Or is this where we set up? Id rather be in a tree with our guys fortifying a treeline

yes this is a world with forests also we got 17 min to decide

the decision is where Simun and Thera are going to be when the fighting starts kinda a, "what tactical advantage do you want?" type deal

alright 3 it is roll is 1d100 vs 55,45 not that hard but still you can fail this

let the rolling begin

Bollocks, why dont we both do 2d100 and its the best of the related rolls m8. 1d100 is just unfair odds.

well this was 2 stats so it was 2d100, if you manage to pass one you do get to the spot with some difficulty

Rolled 28 (1d100)

Ok ill roll for the second dc then
>>
woot you bot enough pass to get up the tree, Thera did not though so writing.
>>
>>1122433
Shit, failed the first dc by one degree.
>>
Quickly you climb that tree and get to a proper position, then you hear a crack and an "oof" as Thera tries the same thing and the branch breaks. "I'll stay down here" she calls up to you as you look through your scope spying a strange large object in the sky.

several hours pass with no movement but then you hear "SKREEEEEEE!" as suddenly a horde of tyranids rush out unto the clearing lasrifles and bioweapons discharge at each other several guardsman die but more tyranids do yet they still charge.

you hear Thera yip in fear as you take a deep breath

>[1] look for the biggest, ugliest nid and take it's head (per, bs)

you guys got lucky, writing
>>
Your job is to scan the skies so you do, and you spot several flying uglies. You take aim and fire three shots. all three land and you cant help but smile as the nids drop screeching as they fall. only to swear as you notice several nids on the ground notice your position.

"Thera get cover we have company" you yell with no response "Thera?" you yell again and look down she was not there and from what you can tell with the discarded lasgun she ran "that fucking coward" you swear dropping from the tree and running towards your squad several are dead including Markiv, Kali also now is missing her left arm.

as you approach kali yells "THERA?" "RAN." you yell over the gunfire "OH SHE IS DEAD NEXT TIME I SEE HER!" Kali roars blowing a hole in another nid's head several feet away "PULL BACK THIS POINT IS INDEFENSIBLE GET TO THE TANKS" she roars as you run gunfire and yells behind you towards the Russ's pulling up.
>>
alright that ends our first session, im going to always have it Saturday 7pm but i may show up over the week, look at my twitter for time updates @MrAnonsoup, hope to see you next time
