So I'm back. For reasons, the previous session wasn't saved. Last time, narrowly escaped from the Rougtown with the Marines chasing us, and learned that Julia Julie plans to retake her hometown, Stepp island, which was taken over by Wink's Troupe. In order to clear our name we agreed to help her. We also made up a few new techniques utilizing the Nail Nail Fruit. When we left off, we were approaching Reverse Mountain....

You watch at the large mound of rock jutting out of the sea called Reverse Mountain gets larger and larger. A thick layer of mist surrounds its base. You near you can hear the rushing water making its way up the mountain.

Suddenly, a wooden pole sticks out of the mist, followed by a Marine Warship. Two more join it soon after. One of them peels of to the rock-filled entrance to the river, while the other two seem to be moving towards you. While the one that peeled of will definitely make it to the mountain before you, the other two might not reach you in time. You hear Julie calling out from behind you.

"It looks like our friend Captain Kelly made a few calls!"

"You think?"

"What do think we should do? You are the captain after all."

"Move into the rocks. We can loose them there. And I'm not your captain!"

"Whatever you say, Captain Wave. Miss Green, head into those rocks!"

The cyborg responds with monotone "Roger" before turning the wheel into the seréis of rocky outcroppings. Water swirls around them in snaking currents. Suddenly, the whole ship lurches to the right as you hit a rock. A piece of railing sails over your head. The Marine ships enter the rocks, and are quickly navigating towards your ship.

"What now?" Julie calls out.

20 = Critical Success!

"We can make it! Mrs Green, push through!"

She turns to Julie, who nods. The ship navigates through the rocks expertly, using the currents to guide it around the obstacles. You come fairly close a few times, but you manage to keep turning to a minimum and build up enough speed to blast past the Marine ship you suppose was trying to cut you off.

You smile and give them a small salute as you go past. You ship gets caught in the upward currrent of the river on Reverse Mountain. Locking back as you speed away, you watch as two of the Marine ship knock into each other.

"An excellent descion captain!" Julie calls out to you. You look at her; it obvious she's enjoying tormenting her.

"Get it through your head, Julie. I'm not a pirate-" the ship bursts through the cloud cover near the peak, and you feel the sunlight on your face. "- and I'm sure as shit not your captain!" You yell as you hold on tight as the ship sails down the mountain.

Eventually, you reach the sea at the bottom with a splash. You take a deep breath of the salty air. You've finally made it to the Grand Line. Looking around, you spot a small lighthouse with a dock. It must be some sort of way station. Another small ship is docked there.

"Do we want to stop their? I've heard you need a special compass to navigate the Grand Line."

"I've already got one, and besides, I'd rather limit the amount of people that see us. Wink has eyes everywhere."

You walk up to the light house, and you hear arguing going on inside.

"- C'mon Crocus, we're just askin' if you've seen anyone come through. Million is gettin' real antsy."

The old man has colorful flower petals sticking out of the back of his head. He must be Crocus. The one next to him gets up close to your face.

"How much of that conversation did you hear pal? You a pirate? Cause you sure don't look like a Marine."

"Leave him alone Hugo."

The man leaning against the wall tosses his cigarette on the ground and snuffs it with his heel before following Hugo out the door."

After waiting for a bit, the old man turns to you.

"Sorry about those kids. They're part of some gang that calls themselves the Flying Bolts. Anywho, name's Crocus. And you are?

"Wave."

"So has anyone else been here recently."

"Sorry son, I'm not at liberty to tell. The only way I can keep the World Government and Pirates off my ass is to stay neutral." He puts some bandages and medicine in a paper bag. "There. Sorry for the trouble with those two. This'll be on the house. Any more and you'll have to pay."

"No thanks, I don't have any money anyway. Have a nice day." As you open the door, Crocus calls out to you again.

"I'm a bounty hunter. Or, at least I was."

"Currently in transition?" Crocus asks as he sits back down in his rocking chair.

"Something like that. Times are hard to be a honest, working man."

Crocus chuckles. "True that. Good luck on the Grand Line. You're gonna need it."

You wave at him as you walk out the door, closing it behind you. The other ship has gone. You board the Saint Scylla, placing the medical supplies on a deck. Miss Green is nailing a board to to the railing to patch it up, while Julie watches on the upper deck, sipping tea.

"What happened to staying out of sight?"

"The other people left right after you walked in. They looked fairly angry."

"Yea, I guess I kind of pissed them off. So what do we do now?"

"Well-" Julie pulls out a small compass like object. "This will help us get to Stepp Island. But we should probably get a navigator at the first opportunity."

"When's that?"

"Well I'm pretty sure the closest town is on an island called Blutoy."

"Oh. About that... those guys that were pissed off?"

"Yes?"

"They specifically warned me not to go there."

"Well, it's not like we have a choice. Miss Green?"

"Yes ma'am?"

"Prepare to set sail. We're heading to Blutoy Island!"

"Ms. Julia requests your presence on the deck."

"How urgent is it?"

"Ms. Julia neglected to say. She did, however, instruct me to take you by force if you refused." She responds in her trademark monotone voice. Groaning, you get out of the hammock.

You step outside, to see Julia kneeling over a black cloth. A few cans of paint and sheets of paper are scattered around her. The hole scene is illuminated by a lamp strung up on the main mast. Julia turns and calls out to you.

"Ah! Wave! I know your a bit iffy about the whole pirate thing, but until we got to my hometown I was think we should really try to play the part. I have several designs here..." she continues to ramble on.

"Why are you so committed to fake piracy?" You say, making sure to force an annoupyed inflection in your voice.

"Pirates don't generally go after bounties for fear if getting captured themselves, right?"

"Yea, I guess."

"So if Wink thinks we're just low-level pirates, he'll be much less likely to try and kill us before we get close to the island."

"What if he tries to collect our bounties?"

"If we keep our bounties small, well manage to only attract small fry. Besides, like I told you, once I get my island back I can clear your name. My father had plenty of connections in the world government."

You groan in annoyance.

"Listen Wave, I know it sucks, but you'll just have to put up with it for awhile. Besides, Wink controls most of the islands leading up to Stepp. Marines aren't exactly common here."

"Fine. Do whatever you want." You say as you turn around and go back to your nap.

"Great, so I was thinking a wa-" Julie says before getting interrupted by you slamming the door. You climb back into your hammock, drifting off to sleep as you think about your mother and sisters. You silently pray you live long enough to get this reward from Julia.

You wake up to sun shining down on your face. The warped porthole magnifies the glass, making it uncomfortably warm. Getting out and onto the main deck, you see Julie drinking coffee while she watches Miss Green hoist a flag of a skull featuring a backdrop of a frothing wave.

"Oh, Wave! Good morning! Well, what do you think?"

"Waves. Clever." You pour yourself a cup of coffee, and step near the recently repaired railing. You squint your eyes as you look of into the horizon.

"Hey, Julie, do you have a eyeglass or somthing?"

"Sure." She says before rummaging around in her bag. She gets out a copper colored cylinder and tosses it to you. Catching it, you unfurl it and try to discern what's going on.

You spot a group of men riding strange, fish-like creatures like motorcycles. The one in front has a pompadour and patrolman sunglasses. You recognize the two men on either side of him as Hugo and Gill.

"Fuck me."

"What is it?" Julie asks worriedly.

"The two pissed guys from yesterday are back. And their coming right for us." You hand the spyglass off to Julie, who has joined you on the railing.

"Maybe they just want to say hello?" Sh looks at you with a nervous smile. All she receives in return is your grimaced face. "I thought not. Miss Green, prepare for multiple hostiles."

13 = moderate success

Moving back to the wheel of the ship, you strain a bit and force the boat to begin curving away from the gang. They manage to catch up fairly quickly, but when they do, you use the momentum from the curve to make a sharp turn, putting yourself back into your original course but with them going in the opposite direction.

Looking back, you watch as Miss Green fires a few missiles at them as they attempt to swerve back into pursuit. She manages to take out one of them, but it isn't long before their fairly close to the ship.

You see the apparent leader make some hand motions as the gang splits into two groups that close in on either side of the Saint Scylla. The leader himself begins to move forward ahead of the ship.

Miss Green tries to fire at the bikers on the port side, while Julie uses the cannon to try and shoot at the leader in the front. Neither of them seem to be having much luck, and the ones on the starboard side have started throwing grappling hooks onto the railing of the ship.

Jumping down to the main deck, you unsheath your sword as you cut down the ropes linking the bikers to your ship. You even manage to catch one right as it heads towards you, throwing it back at the person who tossed it and knocking him into the water. His fish-bike-thing swerves, and actually manages to take down two others who try to fruitlessly scramble back on.

Suddenly, you hear Julie yelping. Turning around, you watch as she's knocked back from the cannon by the apparent leader of the group, the one wearing the pompadour. He's somehow managed to jump onto your ship. You notice that one of his legs is actually a prosthetic, with a large ball connecting a strange nozzle-like peg leg to his knee.

Miss Green immediately jumps into action.

"Miss Green... his leg..." Julie tries to warn, before suddenly a strange, white mass emerges from the tip of his peg leg and wraps itself around Miss Green, restraining her. He turns to you. You notice a pair of strange, white objects on his back, but you can't quite tell from this angle.

Meanwhile, a few of the bikers manage to climb their way on board. One of them you recognize as Hugo.

"What's wrong boss? Why haven't you smothered them in cloud yet?"

"This dude says that it was someone else who did that attack on the Marine base! He was framed by this Kobayashi guy."

"So? As long as he's the man World Government thinks he is, we can take care of our dues to Million this month."

"Yea, but he might be innocent..." Their boss replies, visibly upset by the confusion. Hugo walks over to him and grabs his shoulder. As they turn to face each other, you notice the white objects on his back are actually small, fluffy wings.

"Listen boss, we talked about this. You've gotta be more ruthless. The town is relying on us.

"I know, but can't we..." the two ramble on with their discussion. The mass of grayish-white stuff trailing from his peg leg drifts down, placing the end enveloping Miss Green on the deck but not loosening its grip. Julie manages to stand up and limps over to you.

"Lets just keep this whole thing going for now. Besides, it's not too far from the truth." You whisper to Julie. She rolls her eyes, but nods in agreement.

"- I mean, the wanted poster does look a bit weird if you look closely." Their leader says. Hugo appears to be thinly hiding his annoyance with his boss.

"Why don't we just take them back to the hideout with us? It's not like they can really go anywhere else."

"Uhhhhhhh...." you can almost see steam coming out of the boss's head. He's obviously not used to making these kinds of decisions. "...Okay. Hugo, Get two others to stay up here with me. Tell Gill to have the rest of the gang to stay close to the ship, and call up Million and have Shen meet us at the hideout. We're gonna escort them back to Blutoy." Hugo nods, and starts barking commands to the rest of the gang. The leader turns back to you, and takes of his sunglasses. He has rather childish, light blue eyes.

"We're gonna take you back to our base. We'll decide what to do with you then. For now, call off your maid here. I'd rather not have to restrain her for the whole trip." You nod to Julie, and Julie turns to Miss Green.

"Miss Green, this breach in etiquette was a misunderstanding. You are to stand down."

"..."

"Miss Green, do I make myself clear?"

"Yes ma'am."

The leader sets the cyborg down, who immediately runs over to attend to Julie. The boss speaks up again.

"I'm Volt by the way. Billy Volt." He says has he leans against the mast of the ship, starting at you.

"So, how's the bounty hunting business?"

"It's alright. Not as profitable as I thought though."

You chuckle. "Tell me about it. You got any family?"

He smiles in a strange, sad way. "Yea. Haven't seen them in awhile though. You?"

"Just my mom and sisters. So whose this Million guy anyway?" Some anger in his eyes, along with that of the two other bikers. One of them speaks up.

"He's the asshole that extor-" he says before being interrupted by Volt.

"He's the... protector of Blutoy island. You don't need to worry about it right now" His voice takes on a serious angry tone, much less childish than his earlier outbursts. You decide not to press further. Julie returns, some bandages on her ribs holding what looks like ice packs.

"You alright?" You ask.

"Yea. I don't think anythings broken, just bruised a bit."

"Sorry about that. I sometimes use a little too much force." He says before looking up at the sky. He slowly calms down, but he doesn't seem to want to talk anymore

~meanwhile, on Blutoy Island~

*munch* "Whadda you mean-" *crunch* "-comlications?"

"I don't know yet, but we're bringing them back here. Have Shen meet us at the base."

"What's the-" *slurp* "magic word?"

"..."

"Come now, is that anyway-" *crunch* "-to treat the savior of your island? Without me around-" *smack* "-who else would protect your precious village from vagabonds like yourselves?"

"Please."

"Please what?"

"Please have Shen meet us at the hideout."

"Much better!" *crunch* "Have a few of your members go ahead in advance. Goodbye!" The man hangs up on the den den mushi with a loud ka-chink. "SHEN!"

"Wha-" *hic* "Wha is it?"

"A few of Volts boys are heading back to the hideout after an apparent complication during their hunt. Take Mooch with you. Make sure to rough them up a bit, so they know whose in charge."

"Yessir." *hic*

That's the end of session 3.5! I'm glad the story is finally progressing. I'm gonna try out more of this ~meanwhile~ scenes in the future, in order to parallel the show a bit more.

Also, since we'll finally be gettin into some combat soon, I had some thoughts about our Devil Fruit power. First off, via force of will, people can stay conscious after being impaled by a nail in the head. Second, nails will rust and corrode fairly quickly if they come into contact with saltwater. I made these changes because I wanted to avoid winnning fights with a single attack.

I also really enjoy the enthusiasm you guys are taking in the series. I'm pleasantly surprised by the way you guys have added nuance to Wave's personality, and I'm excited to reveal the arcs, characters, and stories I have planned for the future. PLEASE post any comments, questions, compliments, suggestions, and concerns, and I will try to get to them as soon as I can.

Do you know when you're gonna run again?
>>
>>1133686
Thank you very much for running
Still want to be a bounty hunter though a bit corrupted
>>
>>1133697
Probably next weekend. I find then to be the best time to reduce the large wait times that plauge my quest.
>>
>>1133707
Cool see ya then
Have you been surprised or annoyed by anything we've voted for so far?
>>
>>1133706
Trust me, I also like the idea of Wave being this anti-Luffy. I've already written the whole "Winks Troupe Arc" but after that things are fairly unclear. A change of direction could definitely be in store then, and If you have ideas I would love to hear them
>>
>>1133714
If anything, I'm sometimes surprised by the characters you guys like and dislike. For instance, Yuto was meant to be a small character, but people seemed to like him, while Julie is a much bigger character that isn't very well-liked. I guess I didn't expect you guys to care for Wave to the point where anyone who uses him for personal gain is so vilified, and I can't tell if its because my writing is good or bad.
>>
>>1133799
>Julie is a much bigger character that isn't very well-liked
I'm neutral towards her and I only see one guy bitch about her a lot.
>>
>>1133799
It is based on One Piece where only rather scummy people, or Nami, do things like that. Also you've really not given us any reason to trust or like her in story
>>
>>1133799
Well first thing she does isn't fuck us over to get us to help her instead of offering money. And she keeps doing I think too.
>>
>>1133831
>>1133831
I suppose so. As we get into more arcs, opportunities to improve your relationship with her will likely pop up. I also don't want to reveal too much, but like in One Piece many of the characters have some tragedy that causes them to act the way they do.
>>
>>1133894
If she joins the world goverment, We'll leaving her behind.
>>
>>1133894
Just a comment. I forgot this was running today, would you mind posting in your twitter when ever you start a thread even if it's in an existing thread. I closed the tab, haha.

So far I like all the characters. I personally like Julie, but I think that Wave probably actively dislikes Julie. Not only did she interfere with his profession which he uses to support his beloved sisters and mother she has completely destroyed his reputation. Unless something significant happens in the future like her really opening up to Wave, I don't see him coming around to like Julie in the near future.
>>
Opinions so far:

Wave is solid up to this point. Uncomplicated, clear motivation, defined traits. He's super unenthused about this and is likely only along to get his name cleared. Possible issues: Why would he stay with these people after that? If they are meant to be a part of his crew, he's gonna need a reason to stick around with them, or they to him. Abilities are solid, but unrefined, which is fine.

Julie is not well-defined yet, but I think that's on purpose. We DO know she's a conniving, backstabbing bitch with shifty morals, but there's probably a lot more there, especially once she stops seeing Wave as just a tool. I'm interested as to how she'd become a permanent addition to the crew, seeing as she wants her island back. Unsure as to her utility as a crewman, though she seems crafty. Maybe she could learn to maintain the vessel?

Miss Green seems to be the combat monster of the group. Fits Zoro's mold well, being taciturn, bad at socializing, and aloof. Also seems to have a will of her own under the robot thoughts, as seen with her hesitation to follow Julie's order to back down. She interests me a lot, especially if she's more human that just looking like one. Will probably carry our asses in the early fights, and searching for a tinker/mechanic/mad doctor to upgrade her in the future would be a fun story.

Overall, your writing is rough, but well thought out and you definitely grasp the source material well. I've been reading since thread 1 and I can't wait for more.
>>
>>1136140 again, idea moment, probably after a main story arc is finished and we have a partial crew.

Miss Green is damaged in the final fight, but not outwardly. She starts to shift uncontrollably between her standard attitude and two others. One is very slovenly, swearing a lot and refusing to do anything when her life isn't on the line, and her other personality is... lewd. Uses innuendos, pokes at others' embarrassments, and generally makes people blush, become enraged, or swoon, depending on their nature. They need to find a mechanic with the proper skillset to give her a repair, and perhaps they come along to ensure Miss Green is always properly cared for, as well as keeping the boat fixed and maybe working as a doctor in a pinch (human bodies are just fleshy machines, right?)

Just an idea. Seems One Piece-y enough, though the devil (fruit) is in the details.
>>
>>1136140
I'm also a big fan of Miss Green, for having probably the least dialog of the main cast I feel like she is characterized well and who doesn't like a combat maid?

I like Wave and I'm hoping to learn more about his family since they seem to be his driving force in life. At least to me I see Wave basically living in poverty as he sends all the money he makes back home, maybe others don't see that kind of self-sacrifice in his character, but that's what I think so far. Honestly while having no real love for the law or being a upstanding citizen I don't exactly see Wave as being a bad guy either. I just think that he doesn't really concern himself with anything outside his immediate concerns:provide for family, stay alive, make as few waves as possible.

I really don't really see Julie in all that of a negative light. She's more machiavellian then an outright villain. She willing to do what it takes to get her goals accomplished. What i want to know as the story progresses is why did Wave end up getting picked for her crazy schemes? Also how did Julie and Miss Green's relationship come about? I think they have a definite Master/Servant relationship. Is Miss Green forced by some sort of programming or is she paying back a debt of some kind? i look forward to finding out in the future.

I have the same concern's as you Anon, what reason will Wave have to stay with this crew when the job is done? I like Julie and Miss Green as characters, but it definitely feels like he would just abandon them when he gets the first chance. I mentioned this before, I think the only real way this will happen is if Wave wants to help Julie. I don't think it would be out of character to help her if he wanted to. He did help a murderous pirate escape prison and such. I think what it comes down to is that Wave tends to help those that really need him like if they seem helpless or if perhaps they reminded him of his own sisters.
>>
>>1136224
I'm really hoping we have a moment where we try to leave Julie and Green to their fate, then get all heroic and burst in to save the day yelling "HANDS OFF OF MY CREW" and never admit to saying that ever EVER in the future
>>
>>1136313
I hope not. But I think I'm the only one who dislikes her.

Why did she fuck Rain's rep up when she could just buy his services? Yeah he might have said no but throw enough money his way and he'll do the job no? Like getting Ms. Green free.
>>
>>1136140
Yea, sorry about my writing. I often have to do this quest on my mobile, so I apologize for poor grammar and spelling errors. Outside of those, however, what are some of the things I could fix about my writing?
>>
>>1136501
Not 100 percent sure yet. Maybe focus what we need to do. Don't be afraid to restrict our options when it makes sense.
>>
>>1136501
I like your characters, I noticed you like to get into the action, but it might be better to slow down the pace at times and give us opportunity to interact with characters more. The more us the players are invested in the characters the better the chance we'll engage with them. The more likely we will care about their struggles and dreams and hopes. Thematically One Piece is often a struggle of dreams of the various characters, so it'll feel more in line with the setting too.
>>
>>1136461
That's my main question as well, why Rain in particular? She could have picked any mercenary. Perhaps she doesn't actually have the money to pay Wave or maybe he was just there at the right time? I'd like to find out as well.
>>
>>1136461
I'm not too fond of her though its less dislike and more being uninterested in her.
>>1136313
I hope not, Wave has little to no reason to like or care about these people yet. Though if that changes maybe
>>1136501
So far your strong suit seems to be the characters so focusing on them in lieu of action scenes would be nice for a bit.
>>
>>1136313
im hoping it happens and the we DO leave them to their fate, fuck them.

>>1136461
you're not alone, hate her so damn much.

>>1133894
>opportunities to improve your relationship with her will likely pop up

can we take those opportunities and kick them in the balls? seriously, fuck her.
>>
>>1145167
So, why such the strong hate, Anon? I understand she fucked over Rain pretty hard, but it's not like she did it as anything personal. Sounds like she has a pretty altruistic motivation as well.
>>
>>1146206
That is assuming she told the truth.
>>1137179
Though I think I realized why I dislike her a bit, she is the final word on the ship, yet she for some reason keeps asking us things and turning to us for advice and help, she either has no idea what she's doing or she's actively messing with us.
Also since she is the decision maker her continuously seeking our opinion kinda makes our decisions more or less a waste of time as we can't really do anything she doesn't want
>>1137068
She has paid us already so it shouldn't be that
>>
>>1146237
That's interesting. The reason questwise she is always asking our opinions is obviously for player agency. I sorta dislike how if we don't do what Julie wants Miss Green sorta just forces us anyway. So I can see what you mean. I think we should only be given choices when we actually have real options or give meaningful characterisation otherwise it's just a list of "but thou must" as options.
>>
>>1146363
More or less. Seems we should have some real choices coming up soon. Like if we tell the bounty hunters Julie is the one on the poster or not.
>>
>>1146371
The real problem is that we've already lied about who is on the poster. Rain said it was the Chameleon, so if we suddenly change our story now it makes us seem untrustworthy and it would turn Julie and Miss Green against us. No real benefit to that particular choice.
