In a time of global conflict, the elite international task force Overwatch formed. Soldiers, scientists, adventurers, and oddities: together, they ended the Omnic Crisis and restored peace to a war-torn world. For a generation, the heroes of Overwatch protected the world, inspiring an era of exploration, innovation, and discovery.

After many years, Overwatch became troubled, and finally disbanded. Without them, world conflict and terror rose again. Governments weakened by strife ceded power to mega-corporations and private security forces. Some omnics returned to war with humans, while others remained peaceful but faced fear and violence. Overwatch was gone…but the world still needed heroes.

You are a young man who's been many things: adventurer, treasure hunter, freedom fighter, and international criminal. Recently you encountered the re-formed Overwatch: a grand title for two ex-agents, Winston and Tracer, operating as outlaws out of an abandoned Watchpoint. Despite their down-and-out-status, or perhaps because of it, you were inspired to join them. You left your old life behind to become the first recruit of the new Overwatch.

Now you and Tracer are travelling the globe, defending the people of the world from harm and searching for potential agents to rebuild Overwatch. The world needs heroes. Maybe you can be one of them.

Previously on Overwatch Quest:

You led your attack team in an infiltration of the Rio de Janeiro headquarters of Vishkar, a corporation famous for their hard light technology and infamous for their aggressive pursuit of land rights. Landing the Aurora on the roof of the corporate monolith and descending, you rescued the musician and outspoken anti-corporate dissident Lucio from imprisonment.

The team escorted Lucio to Vishkar's research laboratory, where your bold assault on a powerful shield drone protected your team, at the cost of a grievous injury to yourself. Lucio claimed that the device he was here to steal -- some kind of combination sonic amplifier and mobility exosuit -- could heal your wounds through some kind of sonic technology. That made about as much sense as anything else in this building, where half the walls are made of light.

Before Lucio could activate the sonic exosuit, you were confronted by a woman calling herself Symmetra, clearly one of Vishkar's elites. She stands between your team and the exit. One way or another, if you want to leave, you're going to have to get past her.
>>
>>1157969

With a graceful motion of her hands and arms, Symmetra changes a glowing energy cube into a sphere, then attaches it to a nearby wall. The blue energy solidifies into a porcelain-white machine, a sphere with a single lens glowing with an internal blue light.

"What do you ruffians hope to accomplish by this?" she asks. "Even if you steal Vishkar's property, it will accomplish nothing. Our work will go on. We will continue to bring order to this city."

"What you Vishkar will never understand," shouts Lucio, still re-wiring the exosuit's compatability matrix, "is that people should be free to live as they choose! You can't knock down their homes, put them in cages, and say you've improved their lives!'

"What you call freedom," says Symmetra, "is an illusion that causes more harm than good. Anarchy is not freedom. It is chaos." She spins a second porcelain sphere into existence on the wall to her other side. "We will restore order to chaos. "

At your side, Tracer glares daggers at Symmetra. Your teammate is keeping you propped up in a sitting position while you try to staunch your blood loss. Your armor has done its best to auto-seal the wounds those shield drones gave you, but you're still leaving a lot of your blood on the ground, crimson red against the pure white of the floor.

Genji, Hanzo, and McCree are all between Lucio and Symmetra. Hanzo and McCree are both injured -- not as badly as you, but it means Genji and Tracer are the only ones on your team at full strength.

Counting Lucio, this fight is six against one. You should feel confident you can defeat this woman. But somehow, it doesn't feel like it's going to be that easy.

>>
>>1158126

"Could we maybe wait to do this?" you say for starters. It hurts to talk, but you're going to give this your best shot. "I'm kinda bleeding to death here."

Symmetra looks down at you, sitting in your own blood on the ground. Her expression is a mix of pity and disgust. "Vishkar medics will attend to you immediately if you surrender and lay down your weapons."

"Ain't gonna happen, missy," says McCree. He's got his revolver ready in his one working hand, his broken cybernetic hand still sparking at intervals.

"Look, lady," you say. "Symmetra, was it? Your order is the cause of all this chaos."

She laughs at you. "You can't simply say that black is white and expect it to be true."

"I know what I'm talking about," you say. "I've seen this before. The people out there are just trying to live their lives. Then your corporation shows up, acting like angels descending from heaven. "We're going to build a better world," you say to them. "We're going to fix everything." And then what happens?"

"We build a better world," says Symmetra, unironically. "We fix everything. I, too, know what I am talking about." She spins a third sphere into existence. "Do you think I have been a Vishkar scientist all my life? I have seen the dregs of humanity. I have seen the misery of their lives. The hopelessness. Those poor people, so crowded, surrounded in filth ... " She visibly shudders at the thought. "No more! We can help them. Vishkar can uplift them. I can save them!"

>Your heart's in the right place. But you have to see what's really happening here.

>>1158238

>>
>>1158224
>>1158230
Stay cool, anons. I'm not like certain other QMs who will remain unnamed, I'm not going to randomly kill Seeker with a rock to head. It'll take more than this to end the quest.
>>
>>1158216
>>Your heart's in the right place. But you have to see what's really happening here.
>>
>>1158243
I have, autism does not mean incapable of rational thought.

Any how we are buying time for Lucio to get his suit online.
>>
>>1158243
She's extremely high-functioning, so she should be open to SOME reason.
>>
>>1158246
So we're gonna get arrested, then, after our ass gets kicked.

>>1158249
>>1158253

Not incapable of rational thought, but once they're convicted they're in the right, they're usually too stubborn to convince otherwise.

What you are trying to get her to realize is something she'd have to figure out on her own terms.
>>
Assuming she's placing them in plain view where we can see them and not around blind corners that makes the turrets significantly less of a threat. Tracer with her pistols or Mcree with his flash bang can effectively destroy them.
>>
>>1158243
Tis a distraction bro.
>>
>>1158272
A distraction that allows her to set up more turrets.
>>
>>1158288
She can only set up so many and we need to have our healer up before we get in a fight.
>>
You've voted for "Your heart's in the right place." Writing.
>>
>>1158311
We could've had her incapacitated earlier on. Without need to get in a fight at all. Blindside her with a burst.
>>
>>1158311
Do you even play the game dude? Lucio's heal is not enough to counter the turret damage.
>>
>>1158326
He doesn't even have his gear I don't think he can heal at all.
>>
>>1158320
Unlikely. Given that most of her health is in energetic shielding and that this facility probably boosts it...

>>1158326
I am well aware, considering he is the only healer I enjoy playing. However we need him up as he will merely be a drain on us without the suit.
>>
>>1158326
>>1158331
Which is why we're fucked because we're trying the diplomancy.

I'm banking on McCree and Tracer doing their shit without us telling them.

>>1158340
If literally everyone hit her at once, she would've gone down.
>>
>>1158342
Yeah if he flash bangs her she's fucked.
>>
This aint new vegas. cant talk your way out of everything boys.
>>
>>1158350
She's autistic though. We've got to mispronounce words and use slag to keep her confused. But we've got to balance it to ensure she doesn't go into tard rage.
>>
>>1158366
So, what you are saying is that we just need to talk in some incomprehensible gibberish to piss her off.

I have just the accent but I would need time to write it out and it would be more out of character than a nun on a wine tasting trip through mecca in bondage gear.
>>
>>1158377
Well what I'm trying to say is have gone, as like? To before when then and. However, Yes, today past the door, when I was, have you?
>>
>>1158381
Most certainly. That would work but she would tune it out as gibberish.
>>
You grunt and start to push yourself up to your feet. Tracer steadies you even as she says, "Seeker, don't, you're hurt ..."

You face off with Symmetra, one hand held over your bleeding stomach. "Your heart's in the right place," you tell her. "But you have to see what's really happening here. The corporations aren't friends of the people. They don't care about improving people's lives, or helping anyone. That's all a smoke and mirrors act to distract people from the real objectives. Power, money, control. At any human cost. "

Symmetra's resolute expression wavers, like she's remembering something painful. You sense a moment of weakness and press forward.

"I just met you, but I can already tell you're different from the usual corporate goons. You really believe this. You really want to help. But this isn't the way! You can't just trample over people to help them. You can't destroy their lives to save them."

"Hmph. Instead I should let them be free, is that it? Let them swarm in their rat-mazes, free to live and die in filth. This place could be beautiful. Clean, filled with order and light. Why don't you see that?" Suddenly angry, she slams her cybernetic hand into the wall, which cracks under the impact. "Why won't any of you see that?!"

Damn it. For a moment it felt like you were getting through to her.

Symmetra raises the weapon in her other hand. Some kind of energy emitter. It begins to warm up with a bright blue light. "Order will be restored," she proclaims, her visor bright with the reflection of her weapon's energy.

So much for parley. It was worth a try.

>Command: McCree: Flashbang
>>
"McCree!" you shout. "Grenade!"

McCree flips his gun into his holster with a practiced motion, snatches a flashbang grenade from his belt, and lets fly. "Hold up now, missy--"

Symmetra generates some kind of oblong force shield from her weapon. McCree's flashbang poofs against it. He re-draws his revolver and fires, but the shots just impact the force barrier.

You're already stepping forward and warming up the graviton trigger for your boots, ready to shield dash straight into the woman after McCree flashbang stuns her, but you manage to halt yourself just in time. Yikes. You might've been a dead man if you just charged right in there like you planned--

"Bloody hell, Seeker," says Tracer. "I told you not to move, didn't I?" She steps away from you, grabs her pistols from her belt, spins them into place in her hands. "I'll take care of this orright?"

You reach after her. "Lena, wait -- watch out for those machines she made--"

Too late. Tracer blinks into close range to Symmetra's side. Two of those white spheres Symmetra attached to the walls start to zap her with thin blue lasers, a humming noise filling the air. Tracer winces in pain but keeps her focus, emptying a burst from her pistols at point-blank range. The bullets slam into an energy shield surrounding Symmetra. She turns and triggers her weapon, and a gigantic version of the turret's blue energy beams fires out, with a far louder sound like, a huge microwave. The beam curves through the air to blast its energy straight into Tracer, even as she tries to duck and weave.

Tracer has no choice but to trigger her rewind ability, reappearing a few feet in front of you. "Ouch," she gasps. "That burns!"

"What the hell is that weapon?" you say.

Symmetra moves toward you, going on the offensive. Genji steps in to try to protect you, throwing shurikens. Hanzo is doing is best to aim and fire arrows despite his injury. The projectiles mostly rebound from Symmetra's energy shield, but a few penetrate, and you see them slice into her. She grunts in pain, ignores it, and turns on her microwave beam, zapping Genji. WUMM--WUMM--WUMM-- The ninja pulls out his wakizashi to deflect, but it does nothing against the beam attack, and he'd forced to dash away to retreat.

Just like you thought. Despite being six on one, this is already looking bad.

Marshalling your strength, you raise your left arm and sight along your gauntlet. You've only had one chance to try this out before, and it was a little anticlimactic. Let's see if it's any more exciting this time.

The graviton chargers in your gauntlet begin to glow an intensely bright violet. The ultimate capacitor hums and sparks with blue lightning, a feedback loop of energy that pours into the chargers. A deep hum reverberates through your bones.

Just as you're about to fire the blast, you realize you haven't yet thought of anything cool to shout as you use your Ultimate. Oh, shoot, uh ...

"Get rekt!" you shout as you fire the gravity anchor. Dammit. Out of your limited ideas, that was probably the worst.

The anchor slams into the ground beside Symmetra, the spike impaling the device to the ground. The graviton tethers spring to life, sense Symmetra as a designated hostile, and latch onto her, a cable of violet energy coiling around her arm.

"What is this?!" Symmetra tries to jerk her arm away, but the gravity tether has her anchored, and she can barely move. She tries cutting it, using her microwave beam, but graviton fields are hard to cut for any science known to man.

You ready your gunblade, hoping to follow up on that, but a surge of pain rips through your abdomen and you fall to one knee. You cough violently, and some blood escapes the filter and splatters on the inside of your mask.

Hanzo and McCree take advantage of your ultimate tether, firing away with bow and revolver. Some of them deflect from Symmetra's personal shield, but it hasn't had time to regenerate fully, and some of them strike home. Symmetra goes down to one knee as well. Her teeth clench in fury, and she strikes her own injured limb with her cybernetic arm. "Weakness--!" she shouts, cursing herself.

The two shooters fire another round, but Symmetra's force barrier has recharged, and she drops another one in front of her. Arrows and bullets slam into the field and ricochet or fall to the ground.

This woman is a monster. Genji is hurt, and Tracer can't get near her without stepping into the range of that microwave beam of death. The graviton tether will end soon. What the hell are you going to do about this? If only you weren't so hurt ...

Soundtrack: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PEuCcywh12Q

A strange, oddly familiar sound fills the air. It's music. For a moment, you think you're going insane. You listen to the synthesized pulses echo through the air. Where have you heard this sound before?

The beat drops in. The memory hits you. Lucio's album!

A blur of energy streak into the room, green and yellow, and skids to a stop. "Hello, hello," says Lucio, clad in the bright green exosuit legs. "Looks like I got here just in time!"

The exosuit has a set of strange speakers that are pumping the song you now recognize as Lucio's track "Rejuvenescência" It's a kicking beat you've listened to before, but this is on a whole other level. The music fills you with a bizarre vitality. Impulses far beyond normal human neural activity surge up and down your sympathetic nervous system. It feels strange. It feels ... great!

You feel an intense itching from your stomach wound. You reach down and touch it. No blood. You probe at it gingerly. Ouch! It still hurts. But it's definitely getting better.

Lucio wasn't making this up. Somehow that exosuit -- you're trying not to refer to it mentally as "sonic pants" -- can create neural resonance with sound, evoke biological reactions? How is that even possible?

That is, you're standing in a building that's half made of light, but this is equally inexplicable-- okay, never mind. Figure out the engineering later.

You straighten up, flick your weapon into gun form, and give Symmetra an evil smile. Hanzo and Genji step forward as well, their wounds slowly healing right in front of your eyes.

"Stay back," says Symmetra, desperate. She points her weapon at one group of agents, then the other. "I'm warning you--"

Tracer says to you, "Seeker, I know she's a corporate thug and all, but ... she was using the energy drain function on that beam of hers. She wasn't trying to kill us. Just knock us out."

"It's true," says Genji. "She used only non-lethal attacks. Still very unpleasant. "

You sigh. "Yeah, okay." And you club her in the temple with the butt of your gun. She drops like a rock. You look down at her, seeing her eyes roll back in her head. "I'm not going to kill her. I don't like to kill corporate dogs if I don't have to. Besides ..."

"Besides what?" asks Tracer.

"Never mind," you say. You were going to say, I think she might actually be a good person, somewhere on the inside.

But she's still working for Vishkar.

"Let's get out of here," you say instead. "And Lucio? You are the man."

"You know it!" he says.

OK, I'm going to take a bit of a break here, then do your escape sequence. Not a bad fight, anons.

Tracer looks down at the knocked-out Symmetra. "Wot should we do with her?"

You could interrogate her, but we'd have to wait for her to wake up, and you need to get the hell out of here. You could bring her with you, but that complicates things, and adds kidnapping a corporate elite to your list of crimes -- much more severe than kidnapping a nobody, in today's world. You could kill her, but that doesn't feel right. Aren't you supposed to be a proper hero now?

"We'll just leave her," you say. "Maybe someday she'll change her mind about all this."

"I'm cool with that," says Lucio.

"Ain't you some kind of anti-corporate crusader?" says McCree. "I thought you'd want to get in a few kicks when you had the chance."

"That's not really my thing," he says. "These corporate guys, you know, some of them are just as trapped in the system as those poor people out there. I just want them to leave us alone!"

"We're agreed, then," you say, "so let's get the hell out of here before--"

ATTENTION, blares a robotic voice from the speakers. INTRUDERS LEVEL D5.

"Before something like that happens!" you say. "Let's get moving, team!"

The six of you head out of the research labs. "Which way?" says Lucio.

"To the roof," you tell him. "We've got a shuttlecraft up there."

INTRUDERS LEVEL D5. ACTION CODE: RADIUS.

You kick open a door and start running up a set of stairs made of light, hoping that Vishkar can't turn these things on and off as a security measure.

INTRUDERS LEVEL D7. ACTION CODE: VERTEX.
>>
At the top of the flight of stairs, you find a locked door. "Oh man," you say. You look at Lucio. "Didn't you have a keycard or something to get in here?"

"Sure, but they took it away from me when they put me in that cell--"

A door slams open beneath you. A squad of Vishkar security enters the stairway. Some of them shoot upwards at you, energy projectiles filling their air with colorful lethality. The rest of the guards start running up the stairs.

"Dammit," you say, pulling out your datapad and plugging it into the door. "Hold them off!" You frantically cycle through your de-scrambler function, trying to find a code that works.

"How long are we supposed to hold them off for?!" says McCree, firing his revolver down the stairway.

The door hisses open. "That long," you say, leading the team out of the stairway. "Thank god the corps still use the same codebase--"

The offices in front of you are filled with guards. "It's them!" "Stop them!" "Hold the line!"

Your team breaks for cover just in time to dodge the barrage of energy rifle fire.

"What now?" asks Tracer, blind-firing a pistol overtop of the desk she's crouched behind.

"Let me try something here," says Lucio, activating a switch on the handheld control for his exo-suit. The music switches to another track, and you feel a different kind of energy racing through your nerves.

Soundtrack: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cLM4yxrazK8

"Yeah!" says Lucio. "Let's pick it up! Everyone follow me!"

A bizarre, unnatural alacrity surges through you and your teammates. You break from cover and follow Lucio through the pack of guards, dodging and weaving. Already agile speedsters, Lucio's speed boost raises your mobility to a level the guards can't even track with their rifles. Energy blasts fly through the air, smashing office equipment, scorching walls, but your team jumps and rolls and dodges through them all.

Lucio hits a button. "Raisin' the volume!" Your team's speed gets even more ludicrous. You hear Tracer laughing with pure delight as she blinks past one obstacle after another.
>>
Symmetra will be thinking about what happened tonight.

You get to the final door, the one leading to the roof. Lucio raises his hand-held control device and activates something. A sonic shockwave fires out from the the device and smashes the door to pieces. "Nice!" he says. "This machine has everything!"

The Aurora is still here, but getting to it might be a problem. There's a dozen Vishkar security guards up here protecting the thing. They haven't got through the security, so if you can get inside, it'll fly. But you have to get to it first.

The security move into well-rehearsed positions and open fire on your team. You trigger your EM shield, blocking the energy bolts dead in the air and protecting the half of the team behind you. Genji swings his wakizashi into motion, deflecting the bolts away from the other half. Behind your protection, the team gets into cover and starts trading fire with the security teams.

"Let's get our ship back, team!" you shout, pointing at the Aurora with your sword.

The agents charge out of cover, emboldened by your confidence and the unnatural vigor of Lucio's sonic speed boost. Genji and Tracer lead the way, picking off security guards with bursts of pistol fire and razor-sharp shurikens. McCree and Hanzo back them up with well-placed shots, taking down anyone getting too close to accurate return fire. Lucio stays in the middle, and you take up the rear. The team of security from the stairway gets to the door, but you flip your weapon into gun form and lay down a burst in their direction, forcing them back into cover.

You make it to the Aurora, but the guards are still fighting. As you open the cockpit hatch and start to get inside, one of the guards tackles you. The two of you fall into the co-pilot's seat. You feel the guard's hands around your neck as you wrestle frantically for control--

"Hands off me mate!" shouts Tracer, kicking the guard in the face. She gives him another kick that sends him out the hatch and tumbling onto the rooftop. She slams the hatch shut and starts the rapid warm-up sequence. "Buckle up, boys, this might be a bumpy ride."

As the Aurora starts to rise into the air, an impact rocks the ship. "What the hell was that?" you ask her.

"Anti-aircraft gun," she says.

You look out the window to see two guards operating a turret similar to the one you bought for the Watchpoint. "Son of a--"

The gun fires, and another explosive projectile bursts in the air right next to the Aurora. The ship bucks like a bronco. "Tracer--"

"Evasive maneuvers incoming," she says. "Brace yerselves." The ship starts to duck and weave. She dodges the third shot, and the fourth, but the fifth is a direct hit. You see slagged armor plating flying off the ship's hull. The ship lists to the side, then pitches down and starts to fall. Red lights are flaring, alarms are pinging and whistling. "Tracer--"

"I got it, I got it!" she says, flicking switches.

The Aurora falls faster, plummeting towards the streets. The lights of traffic get closer at an alarming rate. The street races up to meet you. "Tracerrrrr---"

She's pulling the flight stick back as hard she can. "I got it -- bloody hell -- fffffffffuuuu--"

The ship pulls out of the dive just in time, buzzing the street-level traffic to a chorus of honking horns and angry shouts.

"Phew!" says Tracer. She reaches up to wipe sweat off her forehead. "See? I got it. No problem."

"Never doubted you for a second," you say, your heart racing.

Once Tracer throws off pursuit from Vishkar aircraft, it's just a matter of hiding out until 2200 hours, the time of the concert. You clandestinely sneak Lucio past the barricades of Vishkar security and Brazilian police into the Praça de Esperança. The square is thick with people, enthusiastic but confused and leaderless. Nobody is really sure if the concert is going to happen. There's no sound equipment or turntables set up, after all. If Lucio showed up, what would he play? He answers that question when he appears in front of the crowd wearing his new Vishkar sonic exo-suit legs.

The people of Rio already see Lucio as a hero and freedom fighter, and it doesn't take him much on the subject of Vishkar's corporate malfeasance to get the crowd whipped into a frenzy.

Before the armored Vishkar security and police can take Lucio down, you and your team step in and ...

>Publicly take down the Vishkar thugs.

You take down the Vishkar thugs and corrupt police from the shadows. Whenever a squad finds itself isolated, they're mysteriously knocked out and looted of their weapons. Every time a larger group gets organized, its commander mysteriously disappears. You and the Shimada brothers are veterans at this sort of thing, although doing it while staying hidden in a massive crowd of people instead of shadowy corners is a new one for all three of you.
>>
>>1158970
so no need to roll?
>>
With your involvement, the security forces can't stop Lucio from turning the crowd of protestors into an anti-Vishkar riot. The people are already enraged at the curfews, the crackdowns, the exploitation -- this housing development is just the last straw. The crowd begins to overpower the Vishkar guards and police soldiers. Homemade banners wave, people shout slogans and chant in solidarity. Tear gas is deployed, clouds of green smoke drifting into the air. Riot drones are called in as reinforcements. But whenever the police make progress fighting back a group of rioters, Lucio's sonic invigoration soon has the people back on their feet, and the speed boost gives them the advantage they need to charge into front lines or chase down isolated pockets of resistance. The corporations had become slack, not expecting any real resistance. The people are winning.

The riot is starting to become intense. It's starting to look like a full-fledged anti-corporate rebellion. If the people keep this up, they might just chase Vishkar out of the city entirely. Or they might pull the city apart at the seams. The violence and chaos are rising to a fever pitch. A voice of doubt whispers at you, reminding you of what Symmetra said about anarchy. Is this really what you wanted?

>It sure is. Freedom for the people!
>This is too much. Convince Lucio to restore order before the city destroys itself.

It takes some doing, but you manage to convince Lucio that this is as far as things should go. It's not worth running Vishkar out of the city if it just invites a massive retaliatory crackdown from corporate security, or even the military. Lucio speaks to the crowd, telling them that their jobs are done. Surely Vishkar will have learned their lesson from this.
