(New Grandholder, Decription here)
Grandholder Tarnatus

Tarnatus was conceived by 2 eccentric Roggarian parents in the heart of Dragonstomb. He was put in a library with everything in needed at the age of 5 when he learned how to read. This caused him to be incredibly weak, to the point where he cannot walk. His muscle are now, even to this day, nonexistent. He was only let out of the library at the age of 30 when his parents died. His uncle, an artisan of the city brought him to the archive where he could be useful and earn a living. In just 2 years, he became the Grandholder after the last Grandholder, Honorabus, died of a heat stroke in the previous war. He may be weak, but the archivists all agreed during the conclave. He was the most intelligent of them.

30k Rekazir - garrison of Banners

34k more by the 16th
What else should we do?
>>
>>1184535
We need a force of master crossbowmen trained to spot enemy commanders and other choice targets and take them out, one by one.
>>
>>1184535
The state of our banners is appalling. We need to drastically improve equipment production if we're to have any hope of defeating this draconic scourge.

Double the orders for all our current equipment, and explore armor that isn't so damnably hot for use in the desert.
>>
>>1184558
Desert armor would be fairly useful and the bannermen can perform better against the Anavarki with proper equipment.

That seems like a good investment if we are to continue this war.

We've upped our war production.

On the actual war front - what should we do? The only holdout of Rhoznaxi control in Ezirin are the minotaur mountains. We hold the two passes into the south.
>>
>>1184714
Waste no time, fuck them up.
>>
>>1184714
Attempt diplomacy with those in the minotaur mountains, and fortify the passes as heavily as possible.
>>
>>1184714
Build up defences at the two passes, offer the minotsurs the same deal we did to the demon dude if that fails just keep them at bay. Get more man, refresh supplies etc.
>>
>>1184714
Put up small ambush pots in the passes.
A handful of man is enough on each positions, we just have to give them many of our new crossbows.
They shoot down some horses, and set fire to some supplies and retreat.
>>
>>1184714
>>1184725
>>1184725
I second this plan of action. Fortify the passes as much as we can and attempt to talk the minotaurs down.

I don't want to send our men into another damn meatgrinder.
>>
>>1184714
Advancing into Rhoznaxi territory in the desert and southern mountains will just get more of our troops killed with little gains.

Our allies are still pushing into the other fronts straining the Rhoznaxi army the best we can do is hold some of the Anavarki armies here while our allies continue what they're doing.

We'll fortify these passes to resist and attempts to take them as best we can.

For now though we'll have to wait a bit for some of the High Elves reinforcements to start tiping the war in our favor.

Diplomacy with the minotaurs is also something we can try in the meantime.

An orcish incursion into centaur lands prompted an answer - centaurs invaded the badlands, but were badly defeated. Meanwhile in Ezirin Anavarkist preachers have been riling up the faithful against the occupiers - constant attacks on our supply lines and patrols have been occuring. The Ezirin prison, where many PoWs were held, was broken into and thousands rushed outside and engaged in fights in the streets with the Anglanorse garrison. The forces of Kragnaal have been busying themselves with keeping the rebels in check, while back home they are busily preparing new armies to replace the high losses they had suffered earlier.
Diplomatic envoys we sent towards the minotaur mountains did not return.
In the south our allies have been advancing the front against Rhoznax. The High Elves have been defending their holdings in the desert while raising a larger army.at home.
It's the 1st of Zemis now - a year has passed since the war began. We have 3 armies in Ezirin now - 25k at Bloodmist, 25k at Darkpass, 30k Bannermen in Rekazir and 40k various troops that were called in from Roggar also at Rekazir. What should we do this month?
>>
>>1184953
The faction forces should be moved from rekazir to Bloodmist 40% and Darkpass 60%
Also we should work on rooting out these preaches who are causing trouble.
>>
>>1184991
It is time for bloody reprisal to these preachers, anyone found will be caught and hung. We will also begin to distribute food to the local populace and help slowly rebuild some infrastructure. We will also begin helping the peasants start farming their land again.

Also begin sending probing raids into the Orcish valleys to keep them on there guard and scout the territory.

Ezirin city has finally been secured, all insurgents in it imprisoned or exterminated - which coincides with the number of openly Anavarkist people in it outside prison dropping below a thousand.

Insurgents in the rest of the Ezirin region are still causing trouble. In some places cells of Anavarkists have started causing small Darkblights, attacking the land on which those who refuse the Great Dragon's word dwell. The economic situation in the region is terrible and it now relies on imports from the HPE.
In their biggest success yet, the insurgents, joined by a number of demons that rebelled against Lord Flamkor, attacked the encampment of the centaur King Utreg, killing him and many of his troops - the King was leading forces in the area that were pursuing a large minotaur warband that had almost attacked Palnik.
The other Imperial armies have been building up forces, Roggar has 120k deployable soldiers in Ezirin now, Paitras has 100k, Kragnaal has 70k, Anglanorse has 50k, High Elves have a force of 30k at the Darkpass.

Selaven, which had agreed to patrol the waters between Zhongian, Akeshisu and Gajaxlan, has recalled all its fleets and has shut itself out to the rest of the world. Rumors vary on what exactly is happening there. Gajaxlan ordered most of their fleet to return to the capital isle as well. The fronts did not move by much this month.

Due to certain hush-hush events involving acts of necromancy carried out by the Lord Governor of Barnabus' Rest, Brutus Berrulium, and his cadre of followers, The Trusted Councilor have decided that some action is needed.

These events are twice damning for the Councilors. Councilor Lingnu is both Master of Law and the founder of the NSA, yet these cultists were able to avoid notice and infiltrate our military. Furthermore, these acts of dark magic were carried out by a vassal of the Councilors, a vassal they had every confidence in. This is a scandal calling the qualifications of the Master of Law into question.

500 Knights of Juras have been dispatched to Barnabus Rest to seize temporary control of the city, they are accompanied by a sizable delegation from both the NSA and the Councilors who are gonna turn every stone and question every sentient creature to find out how deep this heresy goes.
All findings will naturally be handed over to his Majesty.

Some rotten elements are not representative of the entire population, the suffering brought on by war have perhaps brought out some discontent, discontent fanned by enemy spies. If you choose a path of benevolence instead of mass murder I am sure you can win the hearts and minds of these people in time.
Even an independent principality of Ezirin as an ally would serve us better than a wasteland.

I must thrice beg your majesty to reconsider this plan.

At the very least those lords who decide to maintain protection of the people entrusted in their care should be allowed to do so with their own troops and ressurces.

King Swift-Hands has proposed falling back closer to our borders, towards more defensible borders - Rovinnan and Rekazir is the defense line in the west; In the north there are three lines of defence planned - Kresnom-Reichki, Buxios-Doproh, Midenath-Boulirs.

We're abandoning most of Ezirin - moreover, the King has authorised the use of Scorched Earth strategy.

“This is monstrous! Oh the humanity!

Under the local leadership of the newly appointed Trusted Deputy Einar Svenson, the Councilors scramble what ressources they can to aid the population in the lands placed under their protection before the King reduces all to ash.

The village leaders are given promises that the faction troops and ressurces of the Councilors will still continue to flow even after the regular Roggarian armies have left. But if anybody desires to leave for safer lands they shall be assisted with doing so, Svenson promises them that land can surely be found for them within Roggar.

Warlord Charron of Flamkor is given promises that if he and his people elect to stay they shall be offered continued support and protection. If they desire to evacuate then the Councilors promises them that they have contacts that can grant them safety and a new home.

The Rhoznaxi were just waiting for the moment when our defences would falter before they could pounce. They took the passes with almost no resistance being left and then proceeded with great speed, utilizing several dragons, including Anavark, to make attacks on our scattered forces while rebel cells within Ezirin resurged to hinder us even further. The centaurs abandoned the Rovinnan region and retreated into the steppes. The elves that were guarding the pass lost most of their forces and had to retreat northeast, into the Ashlands. Anglanorse and Paitras gathered their forces around Ezirin city and began falling back to Kresnom. In the plains between Kresnom and Ezirin, on the 28th of Moris, a battle ensued - Rhoznaxi forces had caught up to the Emperor's army. Anavark himself was there, but the Rhoznaxi army was not too large - it was mostly their mobile forces and some rebel cells they'd gathered from the area. Even so, the battle was heated and could have gone in either direction - then, reinforcements showed from the west...

After both hard and troublesome negotiations, the remains of Claudette Vance was ransomed back from the orcs of the Skullsplitter clan.

Many rumors surround the procedure, some say that Jarreck Vance had to pay the body's weight in gold, others gossip that Deputy Svenson had to marry an orcish maiden, convert to Anavarkism and then personally “convince” the orcish chieftain of his sincerity in private. The important part is however that he managed to accomplish his task.

The body is taken back to Freehold for burial.
As lady Claudette held quite a bit of fame and love in the Duchy thousands of people from both Freehold Foothold, Trusted Defense and the surrounding countryside attend both the ceremony and the following mourning feast. The latter provided by the Trusted Councilor Lingnu, as old Jarreck found himself unable to produce the money required.

The forces that arive are seven hundred feudal horsemen from Trusted Defence. Their leader brings news - they are being tailed by the army of Warlord Charron of Flamkor, who have betrayed Roggar.
The Paitran-Anglanorse lines are still holding, but then another betrayal from within occurs - soldiers within the Emperor's army turn on their own.
Anavark goes in for the kill, Charron's elite demonic vanguard is breaking through and going for the Emperor's positions - the Dragon God follows suit himself, performing his favoured maneuver - his shadow above, his armored humanoid form below. He personally kills Emperor Verigal Ezgielan IV before flying off. The battle is decisively lost, Duke Tremas tries his best to salvage the situation and save what forces he can, retreating to Kresnom - there, forces of Kragnaal reinforce them and stop the pursuit of Anavark's elites.
All the lands south of Kresnom are lost to the enemy now. In the west they are encroaching on Rovinnan, which is all but abandoned. In the South, Drezvaki forces suffer a defeat in a major battle, their golems not being enough to stave the massive tides of Mujahadin. Zhongi armies are being pushed out of the badlands by black orcs as well. Only Gajaxlan is holding onto the territories it has taken.

The situation as of the 1st of Kovinar, 723.
Roggar has 135k troops at Rekazir. Paitras has 45k in Kresnom, Anglanorse has 30k, Kragnaal has 65k across the defense lines. The High Elves are fighting to defend the desert and Ashlands passes. Lursar is in dissaray due to the Horse Plague.
The good thing may be that winter is coming soon - lizardmen don't like winter in temperate climates, so they'll be relying on their non-lizard forces and probably be more lethargic in general in their advance.

Great news for the Magic users of the Roggarian Army! Due to the recent defeats on our allys side the Dragon king has decided to take action so once again our magicians can be at full strength after their power mysteriously weakened.

At this very moment industrial amounts
Of Zadium are being shipped to the front lines so once again our magicians can loose hell upon the enemy! A white powder like substance where once drained fills the magic user with mana! The Royal army will continously recieve shipments of this wonderful mineral so we will be at no threat of running out mid war!

Born in 689 in Dragonstomb, the son of a City Guard, Adal became a freelance mercenary at a young age. When he was 18 he rescued an old roggarian nobleman, Baron Alaric Broadfield , from certain death. Having saved his life and the only family heirlooms left that reminded Alaric of his son, who had died in the previous war, Baron Broadfield named the sellsword his heir and tutored him in the ways of nobility, before passing away in 710. Now Baron, Adal Broadfield took to courting the only child of his neighbour, Baron Berick Shortfield, his daughter Nida. Adal proved himself worthy to Berick, who allowed the two to marry in 712, ending the generations-long feud between the Shortfields and Broadfields. When Berrick passed away in 715, Aldal inherited his lands as well and became known as the Count of Greatfield.
Adopting a sigil of a horses head colored rowan and a diagonal cross section for a background crest colored in red and gold the sellsword-turned-aristocrat must now traverse the new battlefield of words and courts instead of blood and swords.

After Emperor Verigal's death, the monarchs of the HPE assembled in the Imperial City for an emergency vote on who the next Emperor must be. On the 21st of Kovinar the vote was held, with Roggar's King, Fuck-Mighty Swift-Hands, winning 4-2 against Stollin Haraldson of Anglanorse, who was supported by Nerudius Ezgielan of Paitras.
Nerudius has given full command of Paitras' army to Grand Marshall Duke Jackard Tremas of Midenath, who pulled the Imperial forces, joined by Roggarian reinforcements, north, closer to his home.
The dwarves lost Doproh and had to fall back to their mountain holds. General Alinam drove out the lizards that were encroaching on Hasgaldam, however, and the High Elf Navy, together with ships from Anglanorse and Paitras, defeated a Rhoznaxi fleet trying to retake the Acheri Isles.
The southern fronts have been somewhat stale - Drezvak is recovering from its losses while Rhoznax has likely redirected forces north for a spring offensive.

Now comes the bad news. In a skirmish between Roggarian and Rhoznaxi forces, a detachment of goblins from Hajatas fighting under the Rhoznaxi banners assaulted an outpost manned by Roggarian goblin forces. The attackers were replled and some of them captured - these enemy goblins were infected with some form of the goblin plague that affected Roggar generations ago. This plague spread to the goblins in the army.and those non-goblins with goblin blood in them. The Emperor agreed with Marshall Tremas' plan to put the soldiers affected by this plague under quarantine - 30k out of the 80k we have on that front.
Were it not for the cold, Rhoznaxi forces would've likely assailed Rekazir by now - by the end of Divana its forces have reached 75k.
Speaking of cold, it's been an unusually cold winter in Northern Setyrias. Many parts of Roggar were not prepared and suffered economically because of the cold winds and heavy snows.

Another interesting development is that Ondalia is now contributing military forces as well as supplies - they sent their First War Golem Legion back in early Kovinar and the Second in Divana - three thousand golems each, controlled by three hundred golemancers, accompanied by 700 various escorts and supporting staff.

It's the 1st of Gyolan, 724 now. We'll continue on Wednesday most likely.

Lizard presence in the minotaur mountains would be minimal at this time of the year and some lords have expressed a desire to see what happened to our diplomats and what's going on in that region.
Talks begin in Divana, the expedition will likely be launched in early Gyolan - who volunteers to venture into the Minotaur Mountains? Send however many people from your faction you think would be appropriate, but bear in mind - most of the roads there are of poor quality, the weather will be harsh and the attitude of the natives towards us is unknown.

After the last war, Paitras expanded further south, taking more Dovonni and Minotaur lands that were the northern borderlands of Ezirin. With the progression of the war, the Empire's armies are withdrawing further and further north. At present, forces are stationed in Buxios, Axitas, Boulirs and Midenath. On the western side of the mountains, Roggar has a large force at Rekazir. Rovinnan to the south was lost, but the region has almost no military presence as far as we know, with the weather being what it is.

This gives us several options to go into the mountains.

A.From Rekazir going north, then east, through the paved road that is guarded by several fortresses
B.From Rekazir east, into the mountains directly
C.From the southern road, between Rekazir and Rovinnan
D.From the northern road, through the Paitran border castle-town of Axitas
E.Through the volcano from the east.

Morning, the 5th of Gyolan.
We reach a large village at the foot of a mountain pass. The weather is about as good as it can be - it hasn't snowed in several days and the winds have been merciful. The snows here are not too deep either, we have had no incidents so far. The village looks to have several hundred houses and some larger structures - some are probably granaries and storehouses, but one of them is of a truly impressive size. We haven't been spotted yet, the minotaur villagers we see are going about their business.

We enter the village slowly, our weapons put away, a white banner raised. Some mothers hurry to bring their children inside their houses, while men look at us warily. As we walk along the dirt road we are approached by a somewhat young-looking male, who speaks to us in Roggarian, with a thick accent.
"Ye're from Roggar, aye? The elder says he wants to see ye."
He guides us to a larger house, close to the massive structure. In front of it is a bonfire, to which an elderly minotaur man is tending, an old female helping him. He is slouched over, but as we approach from behind him, he stands up straight, a figure between seven and eight feet tall. He turns towards us and speaks in Roggarian:
"Ah, I've been expecting you. I am Elder Buflam Domwurd, this is my wife, Eilma - he points to the female - and this - he extends his arms outward - is the village of Nourik. You've come from Rekazir, I can see."

Are you aware that the Mighty has returned to Ezirin and had been imprisoned by the followers of the foreign religion? Now he has escaped, with the help of Roggar, he is rallying the people of his nation under his banner to drive out the lizards and their lick spittle's.

"Don't worry though, we'll be right behind you!"

>>1189390
"Aye. Nice to meet you, m'lord. Haven't seen much of a friendly face in these parts in a long while."

Lutar bows his head in respect
"That is indeed true elder, we are from Roggar. We wish to seek some diplomats that have went missing. We would like to rest in your village and any information you would have on the object of our search would be appreciated.

He has to bend down a bit to reach you as he is almost twice your height. You put some pressure with your metal hand and find yourself rather equally matched in pure strength. The old man smiles. "I hope so as well. You appear to be quite strong, noble dwarf, and I see you're no stranger to war." As he says that you are able to see some scars that he himself has - his clothes hide most of them.
>>1189404
"Ah, you've travelled here before?Welcome back, then, may the mountains be kind to you."

"You are all kind, but I am a bit troubled to speak to so many at once. I see you have brought a large party with you - come, I know just the place where you can stay."
He begins walking towards the large structure.
"This place has seen many uses over the years. The village was far smaller when it was built - it once served as a home to Studanek, the great Ice Dragon and protector of the mountains. After his passing it was turned to use for a number of things - shrines, storage, lodgings, a market and assembly grounds for the village. When Rhoznax invaded, they took The Great Den over for the use of their soldiers. They tore down our shrines and replaced them with a temple to their Dark God. "

You enter the building - it has large gates, a tall roof and multiple smaller buildings inside it - storage rooms, trading booths, a lodging house, a tailor's workshop. On the other end there are some shrines, while in the central area the surface is mostly clear, with one large bonfire, directly above which the roof has an opening that is currently shut.
We are given space to leave our belongings and set up tents for most of our party. The Elder takes the leaders into the tavern, where food is being prepared for us. You sit down at a large table.
"If you wish, some of you may sleep in the lodgings here - there's some upstairs and some downstairs." It appears there's underground levels as well.
Before food is served, a young female approaches
"Does anyone want something to drink? We have beer, wine, spring water, fresh milkand airan - that's also made of milk"
"It's good" the Elder tells us "I'll have some of that."

"Order whatever you want, though you'll have to pay for anything other than water. The lodgings will be free and the food that Gotvor is cooking will be on my tab, but for anything else from the village you'll also have to pay."
>>

Ah what a lovely place to live. I will have a beer if you please.
Now gather around if you will as I tell you the tale of Studanek, the last of the north.
Final son of the great and legendary Ledvlevast, he was stolen away from his home alongside his brothers and sisters, only to see them slaughtered before him as he fled for his life in the Goblin riots.
Now in the Mighty he found a friend and a kindred soul, the two formed an alliance with Studanek becoming protector of this mountain and growing to a size that would have made his sire proud.
And while the Ice dragons still live to this day through the Godrics they are weak and weedy things. Unworthy of being heirs to Ledvelast. Studanek was however sadly, as we are all aware, slain in war by men of Roggar.
On that day Ezirin lost an asset, an ally and indeed a friend. Or so it seemed...
Years later the Mighty and his people would see themselves surrounded by enemys. Their situation hopeless. However a man in black upon a horse of pure whit arrived with the aid of 40,000 of the undead.
A black legion.
And through his power Studanek rose again to fight. And though the war was lost, I can assure you men of Ezirin, that if you should ever see yourself surrounded and again close to death, listen for the broken horn, look to the sky and see the black on the ice which flies descend.
>>
The barmaid serves drinks diligently. Soon she starts bringing some spiced bread as well. It's quite tasty and the spices are mild and bearable for everyone.
>>1189487
She appreciates the tip and bends down to carefully fill your jug with airan more so than she does for others. Your eyes are attracted to the bigger jugs of milk for a few moments.
>>1189506
"You'll find a tailor here in the Great Den, Ikacha. She always has some products ready, but if you want to order something you may have to wait a bit. Her clothes are made for people of our size, so she would likely be able to quickly complete an order for any of you."
>>1189517
"You can look around whenever you like, though you should wait until after we've eaten. Gotvor should be ready with the roasted sausages soon."
>>1189502
"Many of the Swamp Tribe returned to our mountains over the years. A few settled here, the eldest recently passed away, but they have families that live here now. Some of us know Roggarian from them."
>>1189489
Three minotaurs arrive soon after we entered and take a seat at a table. They are hunters, back with a successful early catch - a bear, they say, one that had awoken from its slumber too early and had become bloodthirsty, attacking and killing two of the village's goats. The village has more than two thousand minotaurs, it's almost a small town and they even speak of days when there were more people here, before the Rhoznaxi invasion. Jerek is beaten by the first minotaur he challenges and the second as well - his arm hurts too much to challenge the third and they all laugh heartily, admitting that he's strong - for a human.
>>1189507
"The Great Den is, of course, a place of interest for all travellers. Beyond that, I sometimes like to take walks along the goat paths, enjoy the view and the fresh air, but winter isn't the best time for walks, I must admit."
"You can visit the Hunter's Lodge on the eastern edge of the village" one of the hunters says
>>1189524
They all listen with interest, but their reactions to learning of the dragon being raised as undead are mixed.
"Isn't he without his mind now?" the Elder asks
>>
>>1189548
"Re-animated he is little more than a puppet. The being that was Studanek is gone from this plane of existence forever. A sad tale of the end of a entire race of ancients.
Yet the symbolism my dear eldar, is something that will live on forever"
>>
The barmaid starts bringing sausages with tomato sauce, the main course.
"We minotaurs have to work hard to stay this big" the Elder chuckles "The mountains may seem harsh, but we know how to survive - how to herd, farm and hunt. Among the minotaurs there are three large groups - those of the foothills, the Wanderers of the Plains and the Mountainheads. This village is the largest Foothills settlement on the southern side of the mountains - most live in the north. We are the best farmers and craftsmen of our race. The mountainheads are fewer in number and live in smaller villages among the taller mountains, peaks, canyons and passes - they are the strongest warriors and hunters. The Wanderers of the Plains were once nomadic, contending with the centaurs for control of the flatlands. The wars have driven them from their homes - some settled east, closer to the Great Lake, while a few came to us in the southern Foothills. The women of the Wanderers, like my wife, are also the most capable shamen of our race. We men are not well suited to the magical ways, but our women are more capable. Many villages are led by women, in fact. Men of our race who go out into the world often become less savoury - without the harmonic company of a female minotaur, they don't settle down so easily, they are, in a way, always in a rut."
>>1189482
"Yes, you've asked me about these diplomats several times already. They came here in late summer last year, when this village was still occupied by a Rhoznaxi garrison - the commander of that garrison had them all killed."
>>
>>1189580
A damn shame. I hope that that commander found his end in a grizzly fashion.
>>
>>1189580
Wait remember to give the barmaid a tip.
Forgot bar etiquette.
"Not good with magic huh? I can understand for the most part. Only the mistress who leads my group is any good. So what's your thoughts on the war? Surely you've heard of it."
>>
>>1189580
"So each village is led by an elder but do the Minotaur have some kind of leader that they all answer to like a king? I know The Mighty use to rule over all of Ezirin and the Minotaur mountains but was there some kind of middle-taur who helped run the place."
>>
>>1189620
"In the days when the Mighty ruled Ezirin, we had a system of governance. Most minotaurs dwell in villages, small towns and camps, each being assigned to the domain of one of the three cities - Chepazar, Rekazir, Rovinnan. Each of the cities was ruled by a Komit - I suppose that would be something similar to a Count in Roggar. The Komit's title was hereditary, a vassal to the Mighty. Village elders in each city's domain would usually gather once every season in the city on a council to discuss various topics, settle conflicts and, if necessary, remove the Komit from power if at least two thirds of the elders agree that he is unfit for the position. If the Komit is removed or has no heir, a new one is chosen among the elders and approved by the King. Every Komit had a proffesionals army under his command gathered from volunteers and in times of war we call upon all who can to protect our lands."

I would very much like to here you speak of war. Did you fight with the Mighty against the Holy Pantheonic Empire? I've only read stories yet I know that was a brutal war, it is said that the Mighty only had less than 8,000 men towards the end of it.

"We've seen many wars, when your Empire would invade our lands. Many friends, brothers, fathers and sons have been lost to the wars.I myself am not from this village originally. I was born in Rekazir almost a century ago. My parents were among the few people that survived your invasion of the city. When I grew up, I joined the army of the Komit of Rekazir. I became his second in command over time and when your armies invaded the city in the last war and the Komit fell in battle, I took charge of those defenders who were left. Perhaps you know the rest - I negotiated that we are allowed to leave the city. I led my men through the mountains to Chepazar, where we rearmed, reinforced and then retook the Western Fortress. Your armies tried to assail it many times again - I remember the battles to this day, the endless streams of men pouring in and that mighty sorcerer whose lightning ended the lives of thousands - though, as I recall, mostly soldiers on your side. We held the Fortress even when you broke you seized Rekazir for yourselves despite the truce with The Mighty. He called on us to leave the Fortress and to aid him in battling the hordes of Rhoznax. We fought and fought and fought. Ezirin fell, the mountains remained. The settlements in the lowlands fell one by one, but they could not break through the passes. I was leading the defence of Chepazar once, now the first among the Mighty's generals, when the Dragons came. They did not seek to fight us with their claws and their teeth - they could not best us in such a way. So instead they blighted our fields, they poisoned our wells, they slowly starved us out, attacked the villages and forced the women and children to take refuge in Chepazar, but the city could not feed so many. They did not defeat us in one great battle. We melted away, we saw our children and wives pass away of hunger and disease. Eventually, we decided that there was no more chance for us to win. The Mighty led an exodus of those who wanted to follow, away - somewhere to the west, was all he told me. I stayed. The banners of the Dark Moon waved atop the mountain of corpses that Chepazar had become. There were more than a million minotaurs in Ezirin before the war - perhaps over half perished by the end of it. Then they brought in their slavers - those who had fought in the armies were captured and gelded. Men, women and children, condemned to harems, arenas, sacrificed on the altars of Anavark and sentenced to rot away in their mines. They brought in people from across their Empire and settled them in Chepazar, their seat of power in the region. I ran and hid like a coward, I did not want to be a slave. I found this village and started a new life. I became elder, I sought to protect what I could. They did not destroy or enslave all that they found - some places, like this, they subjugated. My wife's brother, Koroam, accepted their foreign faith and was appointed commander of the garrison." he says, with a sad look on his face.

"That's a lot to take in. I know what you mean about those Anavarki. I saw them not too long ago. We had just come back from an expedition in the mountains having met a hermit and had settled in to get our evening meals when they came.

Hundreds of Were creatures descended from the hills attacking our camp werent sure why but then our of no where descended a black dragon and it seemed as if we were powerless to kill it. though everyone was dealing with the were creatures and trying to shoot the dragon I noticed him.
He was a massive warrior who was fighting against our best and leaders with the army and he just.... cut through them like a scythe through wheat. i didn't know what do to. Then several of my comrades tried to flee him while my Commanding officer tried to fight. She was defeated but wasn't killed.

You've all finished your food by now.
"Come, walk with me"
You go outside the tavern, into the Great Den. He takes you to the other end, across the broad area. Here you see a number of fairly shrines.
"This one is to Studanek. This one is to the Old Gods, this one is to the Ancestors, this one is to The Mighty and this one is to the Pantheon."
"We only recently erected them. They were all removed by the invaders, replaced by a large altar and statue of Anavark.
When your diplomats came here, the Rhoznaxi had also just sent a detachment of their own soldiers. Koroam had to kill the diplomats, or else the village would be put to the sword by the Rhoznaxi - and so he did. Even then, they did not trust him, so they stayed, to ensure we would not rebel - we weren't sure why they had to do so, it had been years since they'd last left a foreign garrison, Koroam had command of several local warriors and followed orders from Chepazar. Why did they have to leave those soldiers here? Wasn't the war going in their favour now?
Later, during the autumn, we learned why. The rumors could not be contained - The Mighty had returned to Ezirin. Two moons ago, a hooded stranger rode into our village. It seems the Rhoznaxi knew who it was - they ordered Koroam to apprehend him. They knew he couldn't - it was him - our King. He was torn between his duty to his King, his oath as a commander and what he saw as the good of the village. He raised his axe against the human, but could not strike him down - and so, a dark elf sorcerer threw a great fireball at both of them. The Mighty saw it coming and dodged, trying to warn Koroam, but he was too slow. For the first time in many years, I felt bloodlust. I came in from behind and grabbed the elf and broke his neck, while other men from the village threw themselves at the Rhoznaxi, our King joining us in the fight. With him at our side, we made short work of them. Koroam's wounds and burns were too heavy, however. We carried him here, into the Great Den. He spoke with the Mighty for a bit, then asked for a hammer. He walked over to this spot, where the statue of Anavark stood - with the last of his strength he smashed the dragon's face, before falling.
We finished what he had started, tearing down the altar and reclaiming our freedom. We buried Koroam south, in a mound on the edge of the plains, where his ancestors' graves also lay.
Our King stayed here for a few days, gathering some volunteers, before heading east, into the mountains. That is the last I heard of him."
>>
>>1189895
"So that's where he went. I was wondering where he went off to after we talked to him bet he's planning to organize an army to get back at that dragon bastard anavark."
>>
"The Mighty asked me if I wanted to join him. I told him I'm too old for it - he laughed, for some reason. Perhaps when winter passes I will, but I need to protect this village. Rhoznaxi may come here soon. Now, don't let this old bull bore you with talks any longer - enjoy your stay here. I'll be back at my house if you need me. You saw my son earlier, yes? He's probably around there too, if you need directions to some place you can ask him, he knows Roggarian well enough, though he's gotten a bit of his mother's accent" he smirks

The enemy begins their attack from a distance - fireballs and arrows rain upon us
>>1190504
You'd taken position in one of the towers when a large fireball came straight at it, instantly killing the Zealot and Priestess. The tower collapses and Jerek is badly wounded, but alive.

The tower fell on Zol and his Bannermen, crushing them underneath.

The mook that was previously shot got hit again - this time in the face, ending him for good. Another one of Charakavin's men got wounded by a fireblast.
>>1190532
You got hit by a burning arrow in the right shoulder - you got into cover and started working on getting it out and ensuring the damage isn't severe.

>>1190517
Bolter is wounded by a fireblast, one of the researchers is killed.
>>1190500
You make a number of kills with your longbow as the enemy starts approaching. You see that there are demons and orcs primarily.

Three female minotaurs have been preparing their spells during this time - one of them leads the incantation and, once it is complete, creates barriers of ice to protect us from the enemy's projectiles. They're now closing in, charging the gate, which was broken down a few seconds before the barrier could be erected.

You're down to just yourself - a demon with a large hammer smashed apart your guards and you're trying to fend him off, when the wounded Bolter gets up, lines up a shot and hits him in the back of the head.
>>1190501
During the barrage you had lost two of your guards.
>>1190563
For now, you're holding your ground - one of the other guards is wounded.
>>1190567
You dealt with your wound and rushed to help others.
>>1190573
>>1190580
An orcish longbowman hit you in the left shoulder just when you were going to shoot, throwing off your aim. You hit one of the praetorians.
>>1190590
Lol finds himself facing an orc, Zol's sword in hand - it proves itself worthy as he manages to parry the attacks of the orc's axe and stab him in the thigh, bringing him down to his knees and then cutting of his head.
>>1190593
The little kobold got crushed by a demon minotaur.
>>1190602
You get patched up.

The battle is still raging on. We've been pushed back into the village, the gate is held by the enemy. The traps are doing their jobs and slowing them down. Our minotaurs are in the thick of the melee, while our orcs are mostly archers.
The most threatening target seems to be the large demon minotaur - he looms over all others, he's probably close to twelve feet tall. He has a large axe in each hand, the kind that most would need to use two hands to wield.

Suddenly, the enemy starts trying to get out of the village - we hear the sound of clash outside the palisade. The defenders, reinvigored, charge forward into the besiegers. From the south, the Mighty has arrived with his army to relieve us!The Barbarian King has come! Orcish wolf-riders charge into the enemy's rear first, followed by a large force of minotaurs, led by the man himself. Our party, having lost many men, stays in the rear of the action. Over the next half hour the enemy is utterly defeated, almost none managing to escape.
Around evening the battle is finally done. The corpses are being collected to be burned or buried. The Mighty is talking to the three female minotaurs about something. He only just entered the village and hasn't seen us yet. After one of the women points towards us, he turns and looks for a few moments, then extends a hand and beckons us to come over towards him.
"You helped my people - thank you. What's brought you to these mountains at this time?"

An arrow hits the Mighty from behind, interrupting his swing. The Dragon blasts the area in fornt of him with a breath of Dark, but the King rolls forward, evading it just a bit. He dashes ahead and shouts "Now!". From the ground below him a platform of ice extends that propells him upwards -landing his sword right into the dragon's lower jaw.
The dragon falls down, almost crushing the Mighty under his weight.
The rest of our army cheers loudly and throws itself at the demoralized enemies, who soon start breaking formation and retreating towards Chepazar - the city's gates, however, are closed for them and they are chased down and killed or captured.
As soon as the last enemy is put down, the gates open. A minotaur walks out and shakes the Barbarian King's army, then hugs him.

After the death of lady Vance, the Councilors have after much delay appointed a new military commander for their remaining forces in the field.
Captain Ran-bo, a man of few words, much hatred and plenty of violence.

Little is known about him. His own men whisper that he ate his own hand to survive while in enemy captivity. That he survives chiefly on driking the blood of Anavarkists. That he uses no weapon as they only slow him down. That he never sleeps, only waits. That his hatred is so strong no blade can stop him. That he had all his blood drained in order to make himself lighter and thus increase his ability to kill quickly. The list goes on.
Most of these tall tales are obviously considered less than likely. But the depths of his hatred, the strenght of his fury and the fear inspired in his fellow soldiers is real enough for all to see.

Hopefully he can rally the thousand or so remaining soldiers after the Flamkor-massacre and turn them into an effective fighting force once again.

On the morning of the 5th of Gyolan, Byron Silverhand, born Byron Byronopolous, died in his bed. Though passing at the ripe age of 65, it's said he was reluctant to go. Having worshipped Grommen all his life, as all Silverhands had for two generations hence, he was unsure of his place in the afterlife. Those closer to him knew the real reason for his anxiety about passing, however.

In his last few breaths he named the next head of the Silverhand Cartel, made a proper and Royally-supported organization under his leadership, to be his son, Arnold. The longstanding tradition of the Silverhand heads not marrying now shattered, there was considerable uproar within the cartel's various factions.

On the night of the 1st of Ezdarin, 706, Byron had met a beautiful young half-orcess, by the name of Clavda Zdrinak at King FuckMighty's coronation feast. Being of foreign Ezirini nobility, miss Zdrinak insisted they marry shortly after, eager to be wed to the handsome and charming Byron. Byron however, was not as enthusiastic. It was not for lack of love, or for any shame he supposed she might think he harbored, but for concern for his children. He knew well the odds of having half-orc offspring were they to wed, and he feared for their safety and success in such a xenophobic setting.

In the end, he married Clavda in relative secret, far to the east in the fortress-city of Gregariapol. He spent all the time he could there with her, and they lived a happy, if strained life together until the birth of their first child, Arnold, named for an apparent Ezirini folk-hero. It was then that Byron made up his mind, and moved his small family west, and built an opulent manor for his wife and child in his holding of Threeforts, swearing all the servants to secrecy.. Clavda was understanding, but Byron lived his life in deep shame, that he could not be open about the pride and joy of his life, and revel in the happiness that he knew so few in his position had experienced.

It's Gyolan, 724
While in the east an expedition is underway in the Minotaur Mountains and the county of Rograr has just been put under quarantine, news arrives from the west.
The Man in Black has come to meet the lords of Roggar in person. He brought an entire fleet with him to Barnabus' Rest - the city had just recently been put under the jurisdiction of the Knights of Juras, however. Apparently such a meeting had been aranged with the Dragon Commander by proxy of Brutus Berrulium. He and his court are imprisoned in the Tomb.
All lords of Roggar who wish to partake are invited to Trusted Defence, where the Knights of Juras will be guaranteeing the safety of this meeting with the Man in Black.
We expect the meeting will take place in the first week of Abadid, so characters in the mountain expedition won't be able to attend.

Those who will attend, say so in thread. The meeting will take place here.

His gambit, however unahppy it made him, had paid off.

His son had grown strong, handsome, and fiercely talented in the arts of war, martial and strategic. None would have the gaul to assault such a man as head of their group. Arnold had indeed been born half Orc, as was his mother. He'd inherited his father's looks, and his mother's strength, but neither of their wits. He was however, well aware of his shortcomings, and was accustomed to masking his dim wit.

The eve of his father's death, Arnold Zdrinak exchanged his mother's name for the title of Silverhand. He is determined to see his father's wishes through, and to right the deep wrongs he believes have been committed against the natural order of the world. Despite his tender age, it is clear that he means to leave his mark on the world.

7th of Abadid, 724, a cloudy and gloomy day - the fortress of Trusted Defence, seat of the Trusted Councilors and Knights of Juras. The Emperor has brought the ambassadors of each Pantheonic Kingdom and the Dominion with him. Another person present is Ser Arathor Menthel, having sworn himself to serve the Emperor after completing the Culling of Rograr.

The full force of the Knights of Juras is present, along with the forces of Trusted Defence. The Roggarian Pontiff, Gregar I, along with the Temple Guard, is also there. All eyes are upon the two figures - the Man in Black and his companion.

Gentlemen. I will try and give you the abridged version of this tale. But I have much to tell you...

The Man in Black, The Whisperer in the dark, Claudius Burrulium, The Ever changer, The last Adviser, Necromancer, Lich ... Locktus"
"I stand before you as a humble citizen of Roggar whom seeks to petition his lords to hear him out. I hope you give me the time for this old weather beaten soul to tell his tale..."
" I was born, at my best guess, somewhere around 565 in the Grand Duchy of the Trusted. My Mother was a Shepherdess whom had never left the region and my father was a displaced Carpenter from the north. I do not remember much from this time. A few fragments, but I shall never forget the fire..."
"When it passed I was left alone for many weeks, I wondered the streets of foothold confused and hungry. Had life raised it's hand I would have surly perished in that cold winter... and yet, I lived"
"He came and picked me up and said to me "You shall be the key to this lock" and thus my true life began..."
" I was trained by the Advisers and by he man who raised me in the martial arts, yet my true calling was in the realm of magic. In that respect I was far greater than any who had come before me or after. I was eager then, I desired more... more power, more magic, more knowledge, more respect... The path this set me on was a dark one."
"Like the fool I was I stole the soul sword from the place that had been my home and for it was pursued throughout the country. The daughters of Divata came particularly close one night, luckily I escaped the fate that would have awaited me should I have fallen into their hands, years later I had my revenge. The staff I hold is a defiled relic of that "Goddess" but I digress..."
" Breaking into Hogwarts was difficult, months of stake out, hunger and sickness. Yet the prize was tremendous. Necromancy."
"Looking back at it, the writing was sloppy, simple mistakes made by a people whom had never embraced that school of magic. But it was enough, I took what I could and made my escape. At least I would have if a patrol of the Swift Hands had not found me. Luckily the man who raised me was there to save me and killed those Goblins. We parted ways and would not meet for many years after that."
" From there I was... confused. I had such power at such a young age, the world was my oyster and like so many beasts I resorted to anger. My anger at the people of Roggar for "casting me out". I was a fool, and immediately ceased my efforts against my home nation. I believe you refer to this event as the first dark blight. There is not a day goes by when I do not think of those who died for my blindness...

Mill stands before a grave, recently made. His dour appearance makes him look more like his brother Barnabas than himself, as if all the joy had been sucked out of him throughout his trials and tribulations. For the first time in his life, he is silent and still, as if in solemn prayer. Suddenly Mill moves, crouching place an object by the gravestone and giving his hand an odd twirl, the magic barely noticable. He stands, still for them moment, then turns and moves away into the dark mists of the twilight, as if a wraith on this Earth. He does have a meeting to go to, and then a duty to uphold to the men still under his command.

Next to the grave, unnoticed by the various visitors, stands a bottle of rum, bloodied but untouched, as if waiting for it's companion to comeback and open it for a final time.

" After this I decided to help you. This didn't go well. I am not a perfect being and I have made many mistakes which I fully admit to, attacking the Halflings was one with a silver lining and aiding the mighty was a good thing with a dark outline. Through both events I grew as a person, but no one person changed me as The Mighty did. That man has suffered more greatly than any other person alive. I consider it my solemn duty to spread what I learned from him..."
"The Mighty is not a human. We all know this, from the greatest of lords to the lowest of peasants. But what he truly is, that is the mystery. Admittedly even I am not sure, yet I can explain some of what he is. He is a "super human". Immortal and created to lead the tribes of mankind nigh on 800 years ago along with his brothers, It is my belief and is confirmed by the Mighty himself that Rog was also a superhuman. Presumably this means that all the tribes of humanity were brought together by at least one superhuman. Now the question remains as to where these superhumans went? Well my countrymen, this is were things get despicable. What I am about to tell you will up heave century's of politics, culture, democracy and religion. But for the redemption I seek, I must tell it..."
" The Superhumans returned to fight along with their makers in the storm. Their makers being the old Gods. To what reason the old Gods sent these beings to guide humanity we shall never know, they were not allowed to truly begin. As we know the storm lasted for some time and ended with the Old Gods dead and our own Rog gone. Yet from the storm the Mighty returned to lead his nation, he was the only one but the way he spoke implied that the others were not dead, merely trapped. Perhaps the Storm is a physical entity?"
"Soon after, Roggar encountered Paitras and from Paitras came religion. The Pantheon of the New Gods, the victor's of the Storm. Yet who where the original worshipers of the New Gods? From whom had the Paitrans been converted. The High elves. This race of beings, driven by what I do not know and experimenting on humanity must have been horrified to learn that they were to be replaced as the dominant race on the planet by the Old Gods. So they somehow, conspired with the new Gods through their angel cults, this part I am not sure of but in the Elven Dominion today you can still see angel cults active."
"Men of Roggar, the Pantheon is a lie! A vile and treasonous mirage cast to lure humanity and steal it's future from them by those vile elves! All members of Government surly know of the stealing of the corpse of frost fang by the Elves? And their interest and presence at every Titan we have killed! Somehow their Queen has been taking their powers. I know this as she was able to make me feel cold from halfway across the world and leave me breathless. Keep in mind I'm a lich. They also have access to so called "pillars of heaven" devices that are used to bring forth the power of the Pantheon."

"What the Elves have planned I do not and cannot know, yet I must know that you men of Roggar must act against them. They have culturally subverted you for centuries. Now is the time to break free from this cruel yolk and seize your destiny!"
"I sit here before you with a solemn vow. I am unarmed and will not use magic. In my left hand you see my staff, I drop it, in my right hand you see a skull made of silver. This is indeed the skull of Ledvelast, great enemy of our nation, relic of the advisers and my personal totem. For those of you who don't know, a totem is a lich's weak spot. Destroy it, and you may kill the seemingly immortal lich forever.."
"Hear my offer now. Right now, in this very cavern, you may destroy this totem and strike me down. Finish the Lich Locktus forever. That will be the end of it. The Alternative is that you allow for me to leave this place and continue my work against the Elves were you may consider me an ally that will come to your aid when you are most in need. Whatever you choose for my fate I humbly accept, knowing that I will have served my people in a redeeming way, yet there is so much more I can do. I consider the Mighty a friend and hate the dark religion of the south, on your word I will fight for you and aid you in this conflict. I will do anything for my country men now."
"Now before you make your final decision, I invite you to come forward and ask any questions that you may have"

"On the matter of the Elves, the Dominion of which this man speaks, I have it on the authority of Persephone - a name very few, even Leon here, will know - that the Elves have been watching us for many years. Ruins investigated by the Lectres led her to make certain connections, and she has been in hiding since. Specifically, the ruins spoke of "Eternals" and possibly of Rog and the Mighty - I'm unsure, but it did show that they have been monitoring the human race, as well as the races of halflings and ogres in this area since well before the Storm. Of this few individuals are aware, although I know that the Emperor was informed by Persephone to see if he would do what was good for Roggar and reveal this. Of course, he chose not to."

This is too much. Krieger had had his suspicions, detailed them, plotted and theorized all possible conspiracies, but I never thought he'd be right!

I'm out of my depth. I don't understand any of this anymore. This isn't how it was supposed to be! I was supposed to discover it all myself! To right these wrongs! And the elves, them and thier puppets, they stand here, not questioning him, not decrying his truths.

This is not something I have felt since I was a child. This is wrong. Very, very wrong, all of this. This is fear.

After looking around, visibly nervous and confused, Arnold begins to sweat visibly, and begins to stammer
"W-why thank you, sir Black. As your c-countryman, I am very glad to know that y-you-"
Looking momentarily at the staff, Arnold suddenly feels it's power, it's darkness as he focuses on it.

Arnold ceases speaking, and runs out of the chamber, pushing and knocking aside any guards that attempt to stop him. He runs like a man possessed, his large frame moving faster than it would seem capable of, all the way back to his horse, which he speeds away from the fortress on the second he mounts it.

"To link Heaven and our world, the Bridge of the Planes is supported by Pillars of Heaven. There are multiple such Pillars - two are, at present, not working. They were sabotaged.
The first and most important of the Pillars is in the Dominion's Capital. Within Crown City, on Palace Isle, beneath the palace itself. Its very existence, like that of the pillars, has been hidden to the public since their creation, privy only to a few, for these Pillars are a weak point - as you can quite readily see now. Betrayal from within exposed this secret to villians such as this man - he was one of several cult leaders to partake in an assault on our capital on the 20th of Kovinar, 720, the day of the Lunar Eclipse. The villians destroyed the Pillar there - we anhilated most of their forces, but the damage was already done. We did not want knowledge of this to get out as it would cause panic among millions. We began efforts to rebuild the Pillar immediately, but we underestimated the time and resources it would take. The Empire began its war against Rhoznax in Zemis of 722 - at that moment priests of the Pantheon were weaker than before. Then, a second Pillar was sabotaged - the lesser one, in Dominas. We have good reason to believe that many of the cults that commited these attacks serve Anavark or are at the least allied with him - you see how it has benefitted the Rhoznaxi Caliphate, do you not? Furthermore, some of those "comrades" of Locktus fight on the enemy's side right now. You know how he aided Ezirin in previous wars, when we fought against them together. The matter of what our relations to that Kingdom would be today are a question of another time, but at that moment in time, the actions of this villian were aiding your enemies."
"I will explain some of the magic behind these matters as well. You know of the Darkblights, yes? The Man in Black uses a form of Dark Magic, comined with Soul Magic, to spread a tainted cloud of darkness that kills the living beings it touches and also drains their souls for mana - for the unholy such as him rely on such methods to power their sorceries. Over a million souls robbed of an Afterlife by one man's ego!
You speak of Titans now - I will let onto you a secret, then. The essences of Titans are used to create the Pillars of Heaven, through work that takes years. Quite frankly, at present, Rhoznax has started to take the advantage in the war effort because of their present magical superiority. These events were all orchestrated and timed to allow for such an occurance, for with the power that the Pantheon would normally grant us, these Dragon-worshippers would stand no chance. When the Pillars are rebuilt - thanks to the fact that we have harnessed the essences of titans - you shall see how the tide turns in our favour once more!
Allies, friends, I have revealed much to you. Much that has been kept secret for a good cause, but no longer."
>>
>>1199596
"It occurs to me we wouldn't be in this mess if you had just told people things in the first place. Keeping secrets like this has possibly secured our fate in this war - and the fact you seem insistent on genociding titans for their essence seems no better than Locktus killing halflings for mana."

>>1199612
"And here comes another point - this has been kept secret despite Roggar being a faithful member of the Holy Pantheonic Empire for generations! How do you justify keeping this secret, and letting some member nations in but not others?!"

Leon started in quite an agreeable tone but as he thought more and more his voice became more vociferous.
>>
>>1199629
"As ways to teach, yes, but not as the main source of mana! The fire magic I use today, the magic my family is known for - that cannot be claimed to be due to the Old Gods, unlike Pantheonic magics and Pantheonic followers. I must agree with Arnold here, what foundation are we even fighting for?!"
>>
>>1199612
"Not as of yet. You would know if there was - they are not naturally occuring rock formations, they are specifically created artifacts that strengthen the bridge."
>>1199616
"You assume that each of them would have wanted to aid you. Anyone can speak in "ifs". Do you really think Frostfangs would have helped you? He was busy wiping out civilizations!"

>>1199623
"Pray, tell me, mortal of a few decades of life, how much would you know of the Old Gods? Let me answer you with another question - if the Old Gods were so strong, why aren't they here now?"
>>1199632
"ONE person has known these things and that has been the High Pontiff of Dominas. When necessary we would tell the Holy Pantheonic Emperor, as we did His Imperial Majesty Swift-Hands. Perhaps it was a mistake to keep these things hidden in the way we did."

>>1199639
"Take a hundred of your fire mages, make them renounce the Pantheon and pit them against a hundred priests of the Pantheon.
Were it not for the Pantheon your civilizations would be bowing down to Titans and Dragons or worse. Did Roggar not strike down the first Dragon it met before you even knew of the Pantheon?"
>>
I will say no more save this.
The Old Gods and Rog are gone. Tossed into the storm.
Will they return?
Perhaps.
And if they do. And hell is brought
Remember that the New Gods and the Elves wrought this terrible end for but a mere thousand years of dominance.
>>
>>1199646
"I'm not speaking of frostfang Im speaking of Father Mountain Malishazam and Ahinashada they could have been great allies the last 2 of which would have had a damn good personal reason to fight the Anavarki."
>>
>>1199652
Yes the same Father Mountain who desecrated the graves of our greatest heroes and kings..
>>
>>1199646
I know that the Old Gods were fallable, clearly. What you have failed to answer is why if YOUR gods are so strong, why do they need these Pillars so desperately? Why can simple cults and assorted evils almost literally topple the power of this Pantheon, elf of so many centuries of arrogance? I am one of simple mind, and even I see that your Pantheon is no better than the Old Gods. More power hungry, perhaps.

The Paitras of old would never have supported this treachery, I am sure of it!

Spore stone yourself and your entire race of fools! You have replaced inept gods with frail gods!

*hysterical laughter*

The Old Gods were our protectors, and it seems apparent you damned them well before their time. The Old Gods were strong, but the enemy was stronger. But don't seek to belittle those who brought us civilization. They exist as the first part of our history of Roggar, so don't sully their name.

As for if I made my mages renounce the Pantheon, they would seek mana from another source and be fine! Magics can work secularly, it seems the problem is we have relied too much on the strength of the Gods.

And yes, Roggar defeated the first dragon it came across. We were strong then, and we are strong now. Perhaps it would be for the best if we struck down those others who came to our shores centuries ago as well.

Farewell to Trusted Adviser, one of our best and most loyal friends and players, who must now go tend to the potatoes and cows for several months, lest leprechauns will take his family.
Abadid the 8th. The war with Rhoznax still goes on.
Having pulled our forces back, the enemy has advanced in both the north and south.

Marshall Jackard Tremas has a hundred thousand Paitrans and fifty thousand Norsemen south of Midenath holding a defence line. The dwarves and elves hold passes into the eastern mountains well enough. The Rhoznaxi have advanced a bit into the elvish desert, but General Alinam might be able to retake that land soon. Drezvak and Gajaxlan lost some ground.

We have 85k men on the Midenath front, of whom 25k are still quarantined, but expect to be released soon.
We have another 100k troops at Rekazir, among their ranks being Grommen.

What shall be done?

Thousands were in attendance on Abadid the 7th, when the most beloved teacher of the Hawthorne Fire Magic School was laid to rest by his students.

All those who knew him came out of their houses to at least watch, and all those who knew him well were in the procession. With grim faces, all but one of his students could be found in attendance. As for that one, that is another matter, but first the funeral. His coffin was provided free of charge quite generously by the dwarves of Eigersil, who had worked with him to some extent in the past due to him being the headmaster of the school.

There were several eulogy speeches, with the two most notable being by a former student of his and Taeg.

The former:
"I've taken his painting and I'm not giving it back. I-I need to replicate it, on a bigger canvas, with some more details. Gods, y'know, you use tough as a demon all the time when speaking... I didn't think..."

The latter:
"In the coming days the fire you keep within your hearts may be all that keeps you warm. Make no mistake, wherever you are, you are one of the Hawthorne family. Keep that fire inside you, and remember who was responsible for taking this light - at this he gestured at the coffin that held Norak - away from you."

Following this, they interred Norak's body in a small cave on the island. It's said that the students also created a small memorial piece in the cave, laying their hands in paint and then placing them against the side of the cave, replicating something Norak had once confided in them about.

Thus ended one of the most steady flames in the history of Roggar.

Good news first:
King Nerudius Ezgielan worked together with priests and physicians in Paitras to produce a cure to the Horse Plague - said cure is now being deployed, though it will take some time for Lursar to get its bearings back together fully as a Kingdom and to reorganize its army - it's just a matter of time now, though, unless some serious blow is struck against them.
The Midenath front has moved a bit south - after defeating some advance Rhoznaxi forces, Duke Tremas decided to retake defensive positions along the Buxios line. Doproh is still in enemy hands and the enemy has made raids into the Ashlands mining facilities that Kragnaal and The Dominion have.
Gajaxlan has repaired, restocked and launched its fleets again, keeping the enemy in the southwestern seas contained. Drezvak continues to lose ground, however.
Rumors say the Zhongi Emperor is dead or on his deathbed and incapable of governing. Zhongian's armies hold the Empire's borders.

The Ogremarch's forces returned home after learning of what transpired at Trusted Defence, leaving Rekazir more exposed.A Rhoznaxi army moved to the south of the city and has destroyed its docks with ranged attacks and one Dragon that is present. They also conducted raids westwards, up to Riverstone.
The Mighty is busy rebuilding his forces after losses sustained in the capture of Chepazar. We gave him the Ezirni captives we still had and are supplying him with weapons and supplies.

It is the 1st of Domnis, 724. Rekazir has 30k troops, we have 100k men ready to fight at the Paitran front. An army of around 55k is believed to be south of Rekazir, whose harbor facilities were damaged, slowing down reinforcement flow a bit.

As Barnabas walks along the battlements, his mind is in turmoil. He can clearly see the hostility among the factions over what has transpired over at Trusted Defense. A diplomatic meeting, desecrated by the Emperor. His direct vassal visibly disobeying his orders. The Ogres, returning home with their titian. The High Elven lies and deception, if you choose to believe the Man in Black. Now there is talk of succession within the Erden and Goblin camps, defecting to Paitras even as the Goblin Dragonking still yet breathes. It sickens him to the bone, this talk of succession by his king. Disheartened, Barnabas wonders why he's letting his men fight and die for lords and nobles who speak plainly of betraying his kingdom so casually, as if one was choosing which foods to break his fast with. These dark thoughts cloud Barnabas' mind as he begins to questions the very nobles who order and fight with him in this horrid war.

The situation as of the 1st of Ezdarin, 724

Rhoznaxi forces conducted raids and attacks down the Longfork, reaching up to the Danshig wall. They sacked Riverstone, while also making some lighter attacks on the northern side of the river. The return of Ogremarch forces was noticed and the Rhoznaxi forces withdrew further east with good speed. The forces of the Ogremarch caused some confusion among our own as they were flying only their own banners and not those of Roggar and the Empire.
The Dark Dragon that was leading that raiding army, along with some acolytes, caused a Darkblight in the areas that they did not sack before falling back. The Darkblights are being dealt with currently, but the Rekazir region has suffered damage and many of its people fled northwest, towards the Divatan lands and further.
Lursar is recovering steadily, they have already assembled some forces and struck to the south, where orcish warbands had been raiding into their lands. For now they're focused on regaining control over their own domain.
Marshall Tremas' armies have pushed further south, almost reclaiming the old border. Doproh is back in Kragnaal's control.
It seems the Rhoznaxi have been putting pressure on the desert front, though. Them pulling back forces from the southwest has allowed Drezvak and Gajaxlan to resurge eastwards.
News from Zhongian say Emperor Guan-lou Kai has died and there seems to be some unrest among the elites and power struggles going on, which so far haven't reached a full-blown civil war.

1st of Ezdarin, 724. Roggar has a hundred thousand men with Tremas' forces, with the remaining diseased soldiers having healed by now. Rekazir has 35k forces, while the Ogremarch's 20k+Grommen are around Riverstone, which is mostly abandoned and ruined at the moment.

It's been very long since the banners have been called and our men have marched to war, amongst my knights and the many thousands that help hold Rekazir. So far the seige is holding well, though that may be due to the river had the docks not been destroyed by a flying dragon that the enemy holds in its thrall. None the less with faith and sword, as well as a good amount of luck we shall hold until reinforcements arrive. They must.

Journal Entry of Count Adal of Greatfield.

Kingdom Choices: Should reinforce the battle lines and attempt a counter charge to distract from the weaker battle lines. Maybe attempt to break the seigh where we are strongest at Rekazir and attempt to reconqure some lost lands maybe?

The Rekazir garrison and the forces of Ogremarch joined forces, forming an army of fifty thousand, before going south, expecting reinforcements from Lursar and Chepazar.
Dreck and Grommen, our army's strongest, stayed at Rekazir while the rest advanced south.
Before either of our allies could arrive, however, the army, made up of twenty thousand ogres and thirty thousand various Roggarian soldiers, almost all Bannermen(as are the ogres) face the enemy's army, a bit north of Rovinnan.

It's a battle - the enemy has more numbers and an unidentified dragon on their side.

The battle begins at a long range. Our ranged forces are almost all crossbow-armed Bannermen and light skirmishers. The enemy has skirmishers of their own as well as archers with composite bows and a larger force of mages, whose attacks are aided by the Dragon, who so far is staying at a distance, as of yet not spotted by us - he may be in humanoid form.
We take more losses than the enemy at this distance as they harass us.

After these initial exchanges we see that it is rather unlikely that we can win this battle - a retreat is ordered before we've even closed in with the enemy.

Back at Rekazir a few days later, on the 11th, we have fifty thousand men of mostly middling quality, among them Dreck the Super-demon-ogre and Grommen, the Storm Titan.

The Rhoznaxi army has already secured the bridges leading to Rekazir. Scouting reports indicate they have gathered more troops and have at least two dragons with them - they seem intent on striking at Rekazir decisively.

The enemy withdrew.
Casualties on our side were no more than a thousand, on the enemy's side we estimate several thousand to have been killed.

Elsewhere this month:
On the Paitran line, Anavark himself led an army against Marshall Tremas. Our allies, though outnumbering the enemy, had to withdraw after taking too many losses.
Rhoznaxi forces razed Doproh and took a number of dwarvish cannons, while black orc forces have been putting pressure on Lursar, as Zhongian has not sent any forces beyond its borders.
Drezvak and Gajaxlan are doing reasonably well in the south, while the elves have stabilised the desert front.
It's the 1st of Stomnis. We have 50k troops in Rekazir and 90k at the Paitran line.
>>
>>1203535
Focus on the Paitran line and try to break the stalemate there I suppose?

At the Rekazir front we should try to lick our wounds, but send outriders to scout the area and get a better idea of where their forces settle in for camp. Maybe we can find where their dragon nests and we can kill it before engaging.

It takes time for news to reach us of what is actually going on in the more distant fronts - from Zhongian, Gajaxlan and Drezvak, the news we recieve tend to be a month behind.
On the 3rd of Stomnis word of the latest development in the war reaches the Imperial Capital.

Zhongian has turned.
The Roggarian fleet, which was stationed at Zhenzhuhei, was destroyed at port.
One large Zhongi army has descended upon Gajaxlan's continental holdings, another has attacked Drezvak from behind.
Raids have been launched in Southwest Roggar already. The present situation there is uncertain.

We have almost no forces in that new theater of war. Grommen, Dreck and half the Bannermen of the Ogremarch are at Rekazir. So far reports say the Zhongi have not attacked into the swamp itself.

Report to the Imperial Capital, Jurias the 1st, 724.

The Paitran line has been rather stale this month.
The southern front has seen Rhoznax advance, as Drezvak and Gajaxlan have had to split up their forces to combat Zhongian's backstabbing.
On the western front, the Zhongi have taken the coastline, having had some minor exchanges with the forces of Virinum and almost none with the ogres. Zhorang, Barnabus' Rest and Thornebush are in enemy hands and there's fighting on the halfling border.
In the east, with Dreck having transfered to the Paitran line and Grommen taking half the ogres from Rekazir to march back west, the enemy launched an even larger attack on the strategic city - according to the last report from this week, Anavark led the attack that broke through the weakened defences of Rekazir - the Rhoznaxi now hold the city.

Virinum has a force of ten thousand, Ogremarch has thirty thousand plus one titan in the west.
In the east, remnants from Rekazir retreated to the Divatan lands, where they number twenty thousand at present.
Roggar has ninety thousand troops on the Paitran line now.

The situation of the war economy at present:
With the announcement of the Goblin Jihad, five thousand goblins are ready to be deployed every week. A new, experimental type of weapon is given to those most zealous in their faith.
We send another fifteen thousand Bannermen and a thousand proffesionals every month to the front. The economic situation is getting worrisome - with our warfleet gone, naval trade is under threat. We've mobilized hundreds of thousands of able-bodied men since the start of the war to serve one way or another and now the halflings are having to devote all their forces to stopping the Zhongi advance, which may put pressure on food supply.

We're reinforcing the Divatan front and the Virinum front, while our best troops are fighting on the Paitran line

In the south Drezvak and Gajaxlan have been holding out as best as they can. The Virinum front has held and the halflings have been putting up a tough fight against the Zhongi both on land and at sea - if it weren't for the Ondalian fleet, Zhongi ships would have been in a position to raid our own coastlines now.

The enemy has started deploying Darkblights en massse. Sending acolytes of Darkness among the refugees that have fled the fighting, as well as using swift dragon attacks, they have been blighting farmlands in Roggar. The Paitran line was once again pushed north as Anavark switched there. Hasgaldam has been besieged. The good news is that Lursarian armies, now resurgent, have been conducting attacks on enemy positions where they can.
The enemy did not launch a major offensive on the Divatan front this month.
Situation as of the 1st of Charodis, 724

We've set up well. Fourty thousand soldiers and almost as many civilians are put to arms in Divata's Pathway.
The city has stone walls on both sides of the river, with a single gate and multiple towers on each side. Centraly located is the bridge after which the city is named. The Tree of Divata is an imposing sight, an immortal and evergreen tree that rises up taller than the walls. Its roots are in the courtyard of the temple. The druids have raised even some of the wild animals of the region to fight on their side.

The besieging army is believed to have between thirty five and fifty thousand soldiers on each side of the river, along with at least one dragon on each. They are pillaging the countryside where they can and setting up for a siege and assault of the city.

A very very large crowd of people and troops gathers in and around the temple, and from atop the highest balcony, albeit not that high, the High priestess, Ruler of the Lands of Divata speaks.
"Friends, Subjects, Comrades. We are gathered here today to defend Divata's Pathway. Though it will be a hard and long battle, if the Gods Truly will our victory, then we shall prevail in this battle and slay one of Anavark's Dark Legions, Cursed be his name. You will all be armed to defend the holy tree of Divata, and Roggar, our glorious Motherland. Not every single one will receive a weapon, however you will pick up one from your slain comrade, and avenge him! We are the first, last and the only line of defence the this town has against what is out there. You and that piece of weaponry you hold in your hands is what will keep the tree and Roggar alive. Most of you will probably not live past this battle and most of you will probably never see your farms, homes, or friends again, but I can guarantee you that when you do fall, with a prayer to the most high and mighty Pantheon on your lips, you will have earned the right to call yourself a man or a Woman!"

The enemy is not intent on losing any time. As soon as they made the first breches, their forces advanced - armed with bows, crossbows, javelins, the soldiers on the wall made them pay dearly for their advance, while those defending the breaches held the line on the first day.

The second day, the enemy attacks again!

The enemy is through! They've focused on the southern side and are in the city already - both dragons focused their attacks there, our forces are in dissaray and are trying to retreat to the northern side of the bridge.
The animals of Divata's Domain have descended upon the Rhoznaxi - they will buy us some time, we hope.
The order has been given - gunpowder and magic must be used to destroy the bridge. This is perhaps the strongest bridge in Roggar, but this must be done - they've taken most of the southern side, which is weaker!

A dark night, a bloody night, the battle is broken by the rise of the sun. The enemy has retreated, leaving behind tens of thousands of corpses and a half-ruined city. Only the temple complex itself stands untouched.
The battle lasted a week and ends with a glorious Roggarian victory! Our losses amounted to twenty eight thousand civilian militia dead, seventeen thousand soldiers dead and close to twenty thousand wounded all in all. The retreating Rhoznaxi army is putting the area to the torch and blighting the land, but their advance was halted - we estimate they lost around half their total forces if not more.

Divata stands at the top of the temple complex, it being untouched. And she proclaims to all the living left.

"On this most momentous day, we have defeated the Rhoznaxi and their vile forces in battle. Anavark, Curses be upon him, has finally had a taste of great defeat! Divata truly willed our victory, a testament to that is not only the victory, but the only untouched part of the city being this temple complex and the tree. We have truly won this day, and made Anavark and is vile legions pay for every inch with blood. I'd like to not only proclaim to the troops here, but I want to proclaim to every dead Soldier and Civilian lying in the Ezirini, Roggarian and Paitran lands, We did it! We won and made the Rhoznax Retreat! On further news, we will rebuild these cities under a new name, Divatagrad, from the ashes will be born a new city. Praise the Pantheon!"
>>
The situation as of the 1st of Zemis, 724 - two years after the war began.

The upper Longfork has been set ablaze. We stopped the enemy at Divata's Pathway, but the region has suffered a lot. The enemy has fallen back, possibly to Rekazir. On the Paitran line the combined Imperial forces have taken some light losses and are put on the defensive, but Rhoznax has not commited to a full-blown offensive there yet. The Mighty's forces battle in the mountains. The situation in the desert front is dire as Hasgaldam has been encircled and most of the coastline is in Rhoznaxi hands now. The West is stable, the South resists.

Along the Paitran line we have seventy five thousand men of our own, together with various other imperial armies. The Longfork's forces amount to twenty thousand or so, not counting the civilians. In the west we have around fifty thousand men.
>>
>>1204781
"Hearing the news regarding the battle at divatagrad I would like to send aid considering their impressive work. The aid shall be Dwarven laborers and engineers to help rebuild the city and place more fortifications. May everyone fight as hard as they did."

The Western front is largely static for now - the Halflings had to pull back the golem legions they'd sent east for that. The enemy has some forces at Rekazir, but they seem less interested in the Longfork now, having done what damage they could. Buxios and Axitas are in our hands, the enemy has fortified themselves at Kresnom and Flamkor. We must outnumber their forces on this front as they are not looking to face us in battle.

A.Slow advance, be wary of surprises
B.Advance at medium speed, besieging enemy holdouts where we can
C.Full-speed advance! If we tarry they will just keep scorching the earth.

The enemy is in continued retreat southwards. Kresnom is ours, The Mighty has taken Flamkor.
This land has been ravaged by war. The few people still left alive have been slaves to the Rhoznaxi, only allowed to breath so that they can work the land to supply the army with food and when they rebel, they are captured and sacrificed for magic power. Good news comes from elsewhere - the siege of Hasgaldam has been lifted by reinforcements. It seems some of the troops on the desert front may have been redirected north, to Ezirin.
We'll continue tomorrow

"That was a refreshing few days at my estate in the mountains, I truly needed that vacation. I trust nothing new have happened in my absence."

"The Man in Black came here."

"Wha...."

"All the important people of the realm came here for that meeting. You were sorely missed."

"D... did it go well?"

"It was a slaughterhouse. He's dead now. Together with quite a lot of other people."

"WHY DOES THIS KEEP HAPPENING! Even the things I don't touch catch fire!"

"In other news the upper Longfork is on fire. We have no more troops to send whatsoever. Silence from both Svenson and Ran-bo. What are your orders?"

".... I hate my job."

Meanwhile in the dark dungeons of Trusted Defense.

*rattle, rattle, rattle*
"HEELLLLOOOO? IS THERE ANYBODY HERE? I THINK I'VE LEARNED MY LESSON! NO MORE PRANKS WHEN THE EMPEROR HAS AN ARMY AROUND HIM. GOT IT. HELLLOOOO?"

Sighing, Mill stop rattling his porcelain tea cup on the bars to his cell and goes to gets another cup of tea and biscuits from his supplies that he liberated from the patrons of Trusted Defense before they threw him in the dungeons and then promptly forgot about him.

"Hmm, seems I'm running a bit low on provisions here. Maybe it's time for me to make my great escape after all these months? Heh, some Emperor Fuck-Mighty is, arresting me and then forgetting to pass judgement, leaving me to rot away in these depressing dungeons. I'm a war hero, gods damn it!."

With another sigh, Mill sips his tea, being warmed by what little fire magics that his brother taught him before the war.

"I do wonder how my brother is handling the men I placed under his command before I left for this 'diplomatic' meeting. Heh, some diplomacy that was..."
>>
>>1212326
"Why is there a perfectly healthy man eating our tea and biscuits in our dungeons when they need more people to die at the frontlines?"

"He pranked the emperor my lord. During the earlier mentioned slaughterhouse-diplomacy."

"I see... A serious offense... Well, as Master of Law I hereby pardon him for his prankmanship, the meatgrinder down south needs all the fuel it can get."
>>
>>1212913
"...why, do my ears doth deceive me? Visitors! Come, come. Would you join a war hero for a cup of tea before I got back to that grueling war?"

Mill similes charmingly, with a childlike innocents twinkling in his eyes, holding out a steaming cup of tea.

"I have quite a tale to tell of my travels and my experiences are vast. Indeed, did you ever hear of the tale of the Valiant Lady Vance? I first met her at the host which was gathering for this most noble crusade...."
