Pulling yourself from the room's top, you disengage your enigma and flop to the floor a tad less gracefully than planned. Falling to your knees is a tad less upright than planned, which is something you sort - pulling javelin length splinters form your stomach, arms and egs as you do so. Each one ocmes free slowly and painfully, little black spots dancing across your vision each time you wrench one free.

There is a respectable bundle of sticks behind you as you stand over the hole back down the battle, the distant sounds of clashing metal bouncing off the walls of the shaft up to you.

A drop of crimson runs down your nose and into the hole, making your realize that travelling through so many feet of wood, stone and dirt has left you in bad shape. Behind you is quite a bloody trail from your handcrafted surgery, but you're still able to fight right?

"MINERVA's LANTERN" You cry in the short window gravity still holds it's usual sway over you before you step off over the edge of the hole in the bedroom. By the time your feet touch the downward shaft's wall, purple fire has erupted from all your pores and the many criss crossing gaping wounds in your body cauterise under the immense temperature.

Wooziness creeps in as you advance downward, but you soldier on putting one foot in front of the other until it clears. At which point, your foosteps pick up speed, sounding strange mixed amongst the exhoes of clashing metal and undead noises from below/ahead.

Beginning to pick up speed, your fire grows in intensity as it hungeras; the shaft becoming purple to forewarn of your coming and a bright violet in your wake. From below Luc cries out a warning to Honamurei as your light comes closer, evidently they're unsure what you mean to do.

But as you get close you see honamurei, flicker in front of the creature - kick it's lefternmost head before retreating in one smooth blue of golden hair and black fabric. Breaking into a sprint, you charge.

Dive between its legs, run around it a couple of times then pull the wire tight. Hopefully this is enough to keep it from moving for a bit as your fellow rebel fighters wail on it. Pretty sure Luc explody finger snaps could be useful here.

Leaping down, the beast staggers from your arrival. A brilliant blazing meteor impactig the ground in front of it, you rise from your kneeling posture in time to dodge the flail as it comes around.

Twins saws in hand you slide forward, leaving one saw on the ground so you can spool wire behind you. You hear Luc and Hona communicating as you pass underneath the skeletal juggernaut, It's body spins 180 degrees and slashes down at you only for your to block.

Pirouetting you deliver a glancing blow to it's chest before leaping to your side, entangling one of it's legs as your rortate midlfight to land standing on the wall.

It roars at you as it begins to spin it's flail for a titanic blow.

"Luc!" You command and a click of fingers later the flail arm shatters in an ear shattering explosion. You dash forwards aiming your leap from the wall to go over the left leg, you come back on yourself and under it leaving both of the legs ensnared.

Reclaiming the saw you lef ton the floor you cartwheel to both of your comrades and activate the recall funciton, the wires suddenly snapping taut and the beast teetering as it's legs are thrown together by your wires' force.

"Alright let's do this." You say, Hona and Luc nodding in return. "Hona, sword!"

She moves in faster than even your lantern accentuated senses can follow, her only trail a shining reflection where her sword catches your firelight. She hops over it's weak struggling arm as you yank the wires to prevent further reisstance. You friend pauses in the air and for once, in that brief fleeting moment her face a mask of tranquility.

The second passes, the [NIMBLE SONGBIRD]'s trademark smile springs into place on her face, with her sapphire eye shineing in amusement as she hammers down sword strikes so swift her rapier is in a dozen places at once, you marvel at the ferocity of your best friend as she lets out a cry of victory.

You yank on the wires; every muscle in your body protesting as you strain them past their breaking point. Wounds reopen along your abs and you're forced to bite your lip to stay focused and alert. But you suceed in forcing the monster not only to it's feet after the onslaught, but off it's feet, hauling it into the air.

The saws in your hand retract faster than ever before rapidly forming the ragged, revving, gauntlets that run down your arms. Rolling back your right arm you spring forward undernath the creature as it's rise begins to slow and reverse - standing underneath it as you channel all of the fire surrounding you into your right fist.

Drawing it back and to your side you whisper Minerva's name to yourself as the hulking mass of bone and plate plummets down towards you. Crouching slightly you push yourself up, connecting with a sickening uppercut as you rise. Your fist hits first, the massive fire surroudnign your right arm melting the plate and blackening the bones of the sternum and spinal column only for your fist to shatter the rest of the bone in your way as you burst forth from the creature's chest like a guyser of fiery divine glory.

The divine magic scours away the blight's corruption and the black energy that was recalibrating and reinforcing the bones after they were damaged stops it's repairing as it lands in a heap. You look down and see two legs an arm, a shattered chest and a skull are all that remains of the creature now. Without the magic letting it get back up again, you all can finally put it down for good.

You give Luc the signal. Raising your thumb to him without even looking in his direction.

He acts.

The world goes blue and you are standing on the roof when time retsarts, looking up/down at the crater where the creature lay less than half a second before.

"Vell Purps, vhat now?" Honas asks as you drop down to the ground. Landing on your feet, you're as close to face to face as you can be with your small friend, "Should ve veed ze garden next?"

"We did agree to get some food with Zelam." Luc chimes in as Hona grins at her oh so clever humour.

"Yes, we should leave shortly after. It will be nightfall in a few hours." You add.

Honamurei kind of lingers hoping for someone to laugh at her joke.

"Well let's go get some food." You say as you begin walking up the stairs.

Hona pouts while Luc follows you up the stairs, "What did you learn about that fight?"

"That you have a tendency to take extreme damage at the start of a battle."

Both he and Hona snicker until you rub your knuckle into Luc's scalp. Still holding him in your imprompteu headlock and noogie-ing the young kid, "No we learned that even if you think you've outsmarted an enemy you need to be careful!"

"Vell you ARE the best example of underestimating opponents Purps." Honamurei adds, chirping away whilst following in step with arms behind her head, "Ve thought you might have died again." She add semi soberly.

"Sorry for that. I didn't expect him to be able to rotate his upper body." You admit.

"I won't underestimate opponents." Luc says as you walk into the dining room, where a meal of some kind of bird has been divided amongst all of your plates. Te little girl Felicia is depositing wine into cups for you all, even Luc. But seated at the head of the table is your daughter Zelam, appearing for all intents and purposes to be sleeping.

"Dinner is served." Felicia announces bowing her head at the table.

"Dig in." Zelam says, fully back in her regal posture.

You feast upon the poultry, yourself and Hona digging in with fervour. the meat is succulent and surprisingly bitter, but not in a way that tastes poorly. With your lack of table manners Luc looks at you in utter embarressment, Zelam seems to be aborbed in her own plate, as if it is a struggle for the old woman to cut her food.

Felicia seems to alternate between eating and making eyes at Luc. Little charmer might have himself a little girlfriend.

"So Zelam. What do you plan to do now?" You ask as politely as you can while wiping some grease off your chin with a fantastically embroidered napkin.

"Well mother, now that I have informed you of our foes - I am quite purposeless." She frowns, clearly not happy about this, "For almost a century I have dwelt here looking into the past. Once I pass on your belongings..." Her words drift off.

"Vell, now that ve have started fixing up your home, maybe you could start a family!" Hona chirps, drawing a smile from Zelam.

"I thank you Miss Honamurei for the suggestion, but who would go for an old dog like myself?" She says covering her mouth as she laughs rgeally.

"Vell I think you're still pretty hot." Hona compliments taking a long drink of wine. This displeases you in a number of ways.

"If you're done trying to bed my daughter Hona." You growl.

"Please Mother. I'm a big girl" Zelam prods, "I am quite able to beat women off with a stick on my own." She covers her mouth to laugh again.

"You haven't even been out of this house Zelam." You say in your monotone drone, "As your mother, you will live a life once we leave."

Her eyes water for a second, "Mama..."

"But first of all we'll finish this meal and get a good night's sleep." You decide taking your first sip of wine. IT's very fruity, almost foriegn tasting. You try not to notice the looks of frustration your two friends give you at your proclamation.

Your daughter looks at you with wonder and gratitude, "I'm afraid we only have three bedrooms that are inhabitable, Mother. People will have to share." She looks... impish despite her advanced age.

Zelam's eyebrows raise and she's about to open her mouth when Honamurei thankfully distarcts her, "Vell looks like Miss too good to snuggle comes crawling back!"

"When did I say I was too good to snuggle?" You ask genuinely taken aback.

"Vhen you snuck off and made breakfast!" She points a oodladen fork in your direciton, "Vell maybe I vont snuggle you this time!"

"Whatever." You shrug as you finish off your food.

Luc and Felicia are discussing something in hushed tones, you're kind of tempted to listen in but Zelam distracts you. "So you and Mother are?"

"Friends." Hona answers mid mouthful, Zelam making visible effort not to curl her lip.

"Friends?" Zelam repeats innocently.

"Friends." You answer pointedly, warning your daughter with your eyes.

"I am quite beat." She replies, smiling. You actually notice her tail waaging slightly. "Butler, could you please take me to my room. I'm sure my mother and Miss honamurei are eager to..." She pauses heavy with implicaiton, "Sleep together."

Butler stomps over and picks your daughter up maiden style.

"Goodnight Zelam." You ask through her haughty laughter.

"Goodnight Mother." She responds.

Luc and Felicia exchange goodbyes as Felicia goes to follow the Golem causing tremors through the building with it's every step. You and Hona rise and begin to walk towards the room you were punted into earlier, while Luc just opens the door off the dining room.

Lucky kid gets the shortest walk.

You step into the room and try to reach behind your back to the little clasp, but it's kind of awkwardly placed.

"Hey Purps." Hona says quietly, "Vhy are ve still here?"

"Well. We ran into Zelam and." You begin, turning round to find her sitting on the edge of the bed looking very concerned.

"Yes I know. But your daughter has lived alone for very long time." Hona says, "Vhen she looks at you. It hurts her, Purps."

"What?" you say aghast as Honamurei takes off her hat and shakes her hair from side to side running her fingers through the blonde locks.

"Vell how to put this?" She says, you can see her straining her mind. You know serious topics don't come easy to her, "Vhen she looks at you, she sees her Mama. But she knows you're not her Mama - you're a stranger vearing her mother's skin." Hona looks like she really doesn't want to explain this, she's now figeting with the buttons of her coat. "Ve could stay, help her clean up. But vhenever she looks at you, her heart vill still hurt Purps."

Your fingers find their way to the silver clasp on the shoulder of your dress, "I just want to do something." You confess. Letting the dress fall to the floor as Honamurei continues taking off the spare unifrom she has been wearing the past few days. "I should be bawling my eyes out missing them, all twenty of them. And Arthur? I don't have anything of them in my head." Setthing you continue, "I have nothing inside me. Nothing. That poor woman has spent the better part of a century waiting for me! I should have broken down in tears upon seeing her, some kind of great revelation or something/" You bite your lip, "But no. Nothing. I'm so broken and pathetic I can't even grieve for my family and life."

Your friend's back stiffens up and her face is what you think she'd look like angry, "Vhat can ve do though Purps? Vhat Zelam needs is a life. Ve can't give her that; she'll be dead in a veek - before we even make it to the Academy." Hona's voice isn't one suited to sadness, even now she still has a lilting singsong quality.

"What do you think I should do?" You ask moving behind her back and pulling back the side of quilt you're going to claim. The rising moon catches the flame sealed wounds that mark your firm like a hundred tiny spots, the imperfections over your abs and breasts shining silver in the white light.

"Ve leave tomorrow. Let Zelam make a decision." Hona says, looking over your shoulder you see that she's stepped out of her trousers and wears only a shirt. The fabric climbing to her modest chest and athletic form as the night frames her sincere look of concern. "Let her life have nothing to do vith her mother for once." Hona smiles.

"I suppose she delivered the message she was waiting for." You say to yourself, shutting your eyes and rubbing your palms into your eyeballs. Suddenly arms drape around you and your back feels something warm and soft press against it.

"You vant to give her something yes? Vell ve can give her one thing, Purps."

"What's that?"

"Revenge. She made sure you know who to go after." Hona says simply. "If you can't give her love, give her revenge."

Lex-" You begin to protest until you feel your ribs creaking under the pressure of her warning grip, "Okay. Okay. Soon, we'll sort some business. Get strong enough to survive the wrath of Munis, then we'll go hunt some snakes." You say with a chuckle.

"Yay!" She beams, rolling off of the bed and ripping off her shirt. You do your utmost to look away, setting onto the bed and trying to get the image of faceless assasins out of your mind.

Shutting your eyes doesn't help, and you feel a pinch on your ass that makes you squeak like a little girl.

Hona laughs her trademark giggle as you whirl to face her with an embraessed blush. "That is for saying you don't like my snuggles!" She says pulling you in for a hug. Her face is every bit as flished as yours as your red eyes gaze into her blue eye.

Deep blue eyes.

You wind back a punch at the invisible wall, but as you strike out a resitanse appears, opposing your arm. Every inch your arm gets closer to the invisible wall the resistance gets stronger and stronger.

Shutting your eyes, you strain and push determined to punch the invisiible wall but no matter how your arm cries out and you push your muscles you just cannot hit home.

You eventually relent, cursing the wall mentally as you begin feeling for the invisible areas of this barrier, making your way slowly to the girl. Feeling your way there leaves your eyes to explore the surroundings, so pictresque and perfect that the fact you're having to gingerly move around feels all the more furstrating.

The failure to break the barrier weighs on you until you find yourself sixteen feet from the girl. She's standing now, blonde hair concealing her chest as she looks despondant. Where your eyes took in the beauty and majesty of the surroundings, she sees something else.

Like a caged bird, she simply walks around, staring at the world she cannot reach.

You take a moment, looking at the blonde woman in her world of reflections. It is with a heavy heart you walk away, unable to look away for too long.

It's one last long lingering glance over your shoulder, but you see her pushing against the wall with her forearms fruitlessly.

The golden door is a lot harder to open on this side But with a little muscle, your eyes snap open in the corporeal world.

Slim arms wrapped around your waist, Hona is pouting and almost whimpering in her sleep. turning over you can see her eyepatch lying on the dresser to her side, the one eyeball she still posesses is rolling and darting widlly beneath the eyelid. From what you've seen, that mirror world is not exactly a happy place for her.

The chatter of Luc and Zelam tell you that it is probably past eight, thought they seem happy enought in each other's company to let you both sleep. Coupled by the fact your daughter probably thinks you were up having sex all night.

You put her head into your modest cleavage and begin stroking her hair, concentrating on her breathing and humming the song she sang on the wagon.

Brief flickers of gold run over your fingers where you stroke Hona's hair, the little sparks and lines running through her locks and towards her face, easing the tension in her back and expression in one swift movement.

You see hallucinations of a million Hona's reflected. Different wounds, one eye, two eyes, as she is now, a child, a toddler, all looking back at you as you-she-reaches out.

The real world folds back over, apparently you were dozing as you storked her hair. But the peaceful expression on your friend's face made the brief fright worthwhile. The strange nightmare behind the golden door is a mystery for another day.

Now the most pressing matter is breakfast, specifically the eggs currently cooking. Slipping out of Hona's grip using what you learned dancing in Grinnsmon, it takes you a solid ten minutes of clumsy adjustments and cursing to pull the liberated dress thing back on. Thankfully your saw just straps to your waist as always.

Remarkably it has fully repaired itself now. Lexington should have forgotten working for the Senator and just been a magical tailor. Easily the most useful item you've found yet.

Luc is in his teenage form, cooking up a storm with an apron asking for people not to F**K the chef. The idea that either you or one of your family owned the pink monstrosity on his chest is astounding. He has managed to loot some clothing that fits his teen form from somewhere, which means at least he got something out of this.

"I see yours is well trained mother." Zelam says sipping tea at the table nearby, "I can't get Felicia to so much as butter bread." She compliments good naturedly..

"Well he comes form good breeding. We were fortunate to rescue him from the kennel." You continue her joke in monotone.

"Yes he told me your adventures so far Mother." Zelam says with concern.

"Well it's been a busy..." You count, "Twelve days."

"And it will be many more busy ones in future Mam- Mother." Zelam says sipping tea to recover as you take a seat opposite her.

You reach out awkwardly and take one of her hands in both of yours, "I wish I could do something for you. But I can only promise that I'll kill the people who did this to you and I." You state simply, despite Luc's back straightening and a hiss from the egg cooking.

"Bu-"

"I don't care who ordered the attack, the people who carried it out will pay. I'll get us revenge Zelam." You voe solemnly.

"Mother I-" Zelam ries to get a word in edgewise but you barrel through.

"You go, live your life. Spend whatever time you have doing what you want. This is my burden now." You squeeze gently, "But for now, let's enjoy one last meal?"

She looks like she's about to cry. But Luc comes over with a veritable nest of egg based good, even mixxing in some baked things he experimented with. The smell is as mouthwatering as the taste and the three of you chit chat and tease each other over fashion, faux pas, percieved lewdness and have a fantastic time.

It is of course then that Butler's eyes glow white instead of blue, a glow soon shared by your daughter. "There's a man outside." She says with her face twisting in well hidden fear, "He's packing up a tent like he stayed over night."

You stand up from the table with a start, marching down the corridor away from the small sanctuary of peace you'd experienced. Walking away from Hona, snoring soundly, Luc stealing a bit of your eggs and trying to reisst the urge to follow you and Zelam. Your daughter.

Marching out into the yard which serves as a mass grave to your family, you forgo the gate. Marching up it without breaking your stride, telling gravity you don't care what it has to offer. The sky is neither grey nor blue, but instead it seems almost white as you march up the stone wall beneath your feet. Gazing into the toiling mass of cloud, you step back onto the rightful plane of movement when your feet touch the red brick tiling above the gatehouse.

You hoist your polesaw over your shoulder, with a frown you see the man riding his horse just shy of a gallop toward Murillo is the same man with the wide brimmed hat from town yesterday. Time to make an impression.

Stepping off from the gatehouse you leap forth, sailing through the air like a rocket. The man looks up by some self preservation and tears the reins back and to the side forcing his steed to rear up at the sudden stoppage. The beast is well trained, coming under control once more in less than five seconds. Even as the man draws two revolvers, you plummet into the ground slamming your weapon into the dirt before the gate.

On one knee you look at the gunslimger, every bit of your determination showing on your usually blank face. The silence between your stretches, even past the man holstering one of his weapons and dismounting. You don't move a muscle, nor blink.

The spurs on his boots clink and the echo of his hand slapping against horse hide rings out when he sends his mount away. You spot grey hair and a weathered tan face below the hat and above the bandanna covering his mouth. The details matter little to you, you stare him down.

The wind begins blowing away the dust from your landing and catches the mans coat as you both wait for the other to act first, as always - you win.

"Howdy. You woulden' happen t' e ah Purps would ya?" He drawls politely tipping his hat to you. His accent marks him as being a Tinton native.

"You know that I am." You growl simply, standing to your full height and towering over him.

"Well, a heap of gold in this here pocket's askin me t' brin ye t' my employer, Miss." He informs you, his spare hand scratching at his now exposed chin. "I'm gettin' the sense you won't come along with me?" He smiles wearily at you.

"I'm listening." You say, severely disliking this clever bastard.

"My name is Sue. Ahm a bounty hunter." He places his pipe in his mouth and takes off his hat bowing low and politely. The aim is still accurate.

"Purps. [THE PURPLE FIREFLY]" You introduce yourself.

"Now Miss. The rebellion would quite laik to have a word with you about sem busyness that tooke place in Rono Pass as it were." He dumps out the charred leaves from his pipe and replaces it in his fanny pack while you try to process what he just said.

That was that town.

Also the werewolves were people devoted to Darna too. They just had ate flesh tainted with the wolf curse in their initiation. That gave Darna a bunch of followers she could make werewolves whenever she wanted.

You know from your personal experiences with Mr Black and the faith of Darna; that they have aligned with the rebellion. Though the Rebels try not to let that out to the public due to them being cannibal moon worshippers.

"I was too." You say as you close the distance and prepare to kneel down to collect it. You have yet to blink and your eyes are beginning to water.

"Even with the town levelin'?" He asks incredulously holstering his other pistol and beginning to pack his pipe again.

"Yes." You say.The deed is legit, it even has the Captain's seal. You both shiver as you realize how badly you could have both fucked each other over.

"Well I'll be leavin' now Purps." Sue says backing off still facing you,"Stay safe y'hear?"

"Goodbye, Sue." You answer coldly.

The man let's out a shrill whistle and his horse comes galloping out of the woods even as the gates part to let Honamurei and Luc, burdened with some food supplies and a backpack with a Murillo crest on it. You smile at your friend's sleepy face but Sue drags you away from the relaxing image of your friends safe and sound. "Fer what it's worth - I can see why Lucky likes ya." He mounts up the horse muttering to it softly as he does, "Oh and Fuck Darna." He finishes, grinning and pulling up his bandanna before letting out a HYAH as he rides off.

"Vhy do ve always meet veird people?" Honas asks as you all regroup.

"Because Purps is a weird?" Luc quips, causing Hona to giggle. The tension finally leaves you as her laugh infects the group. This time you take your time heading through the woods, there's no need to race back to Murillo, nothing needs yor attention today after all.
