Stage 150: Cat. Cat. Cat. Cat. Cat.

Yuuhi pulls her finger from your brow and you blink several times as your identity reasserts itself: you are Ryuu Ryukusa, Yakuza thug, Water dragonette, demigod of destruction, and in a lot of pain.

That last part isn't really your fault; you are trying to rest, but you have an opportunity to right something you think is fundamentally wrong in the world so you're taking it. That it requires the efforts of an honest to kami nine-tailed kitsune in direct service to the goddess Inari is unusual, but not really all that surprising. You mostly bullied her into it indirectly, as she is technically not yours to command but the Great Kami Inari's.

Fortunately, Inari is currently incarnated as five of your beloved family and lovers. The drawback of this is that they're all slightly messed up as a result of it and the loss of any one of them would bring a whole new meaning to the word 'disaster' across Japan, and most likely across the globe. Still, they're all fine, and so are you, aside from breaking weapons belonging to various demonic god-things stuck in China. You hope she's stuck in China, anyways.

Kyubi-sama has transformed her business suit into the white and red of a priestess' kimono and robes. The unconscious Rie, the poor ex-nekomata who sacrificed her power and nearly her life trying to help you deal with an abomination that should have never existed, is lying on a white and red blanket that covers your coffee table. Your seers and priestess are chanting softly, holding incense and bowing repeatedly to the powerful kitsune, while the rest of your family, friends, and allies are watching safely from across the room.

Yuuhi, Kiki-hime, and yourself are the exceptions; your sitting on the choice with Yuuhi kneeling next to you, while Kiki-hime watches you with some concern.

“Kami Stuff, huh?” you murmur softly, grasping your left elbow with your right hand and quelling some of the pain with acupressure.

“Kami Stuff,” agrees the half-mad, enlightened, immortal, and thoroughly confusing nogitsune-born samurai. The visions of her past were a reply to your concern about her dislike of Kyubi-sama, who has apparently made a habit of appearing to several of your family members. You suspect mostly to help keep them stable, sane, or even alive long enough for you to awaken to your true nature.

[] Hug your samurai and pet her head; she's fine and safe now, and you're here.
[] Nod your understanding and let her deal with her concerns; she's right to have them.
[] Lean back and point out she's going to have to deal with Kyubi-sama further; she serves Inari after all.
[] Tell her you're glad it happened though; you like having Yuuhi-chan around for lots of reasons.
[] Ask her if she would feel better if you chastised the kitsune for being so rude; you are allowed, you suspect.

I guess Yuuhi's concern is that the Kyuubi's concern is what would be "best" to happen, as opposed to what Rie would want? Since even if things ultimately worked out, at the time, Yuuhi didn't really want her escape attempt foiled and to be severely beaten?

>Tell Yuuhi that while the road to meet each other was full of suffering for both of you, you're glad you met her, and continue to meet her every day.

About the "aside from breaking weapons belonging to various demonic god-things stuck in China. You hope she's stuck in China, anyways.", I'd like it to be possible to make peace with her. But it's probably impossible.

[XX] Hug your samurai and pet her head; she's fine and safe now, and you're here.
[X] Nod your understanding and let her deal with her concerns; she's right to have them.
[+] I hope you can try to get along with her – she's being more helpful than she has for you in the past, and it's kami stuff for her too.
[+] ….what a long strange trip it's – no wait, never mind. Anyways, you're glad she's here now.

You slip your arm around Yuuhi's waist and kiss her cheek, which makes her blush. Even though she suppresses it, you can feel her wanting to wriggle in pleasure at the affection, despite her seriousness and the problem at hand. Though the problem at hand is really her problem with Kyubi-sama. It is a perfectly understandable problem too, given her experience.

You whisper softly to her, and keep the words from leaving your immediate space by stilling the air around your wife, Yuuhi, and yourself. “You have nothing to fear from kami stuff for now, Yuuchi. I won't promise, but I will make sure of it.” She relaxes and nuzzles back carefully, not wonting to jostle your arm.

“Hai, aniki,” she murmurs softly, her voice thick with emotion and her eyes shimmering faintly.

Stroking her hair softly as you slip your arm up to caress her head, you look into her bright crimson eyes. “Even if it was hard, I am glad we found one another again. We probably have before then too. Let's make this time last a while, Yuuchi?” Kiki-hime smiles broadly, her hands clasped, her eyes sparkling.

You kind of wonder if she doesn't have some fan-girl tendencies.

Yuuhi wraps her tail around the back of your neck and she leans forward so that her forehead touches yours, somewhat cooler than your own skin (not a good sign, in all truth) but comforting and somehow, comfortable. Familiar even. “Yes, Master,” she whispers softly and you feel a frisson of excitement at the softly spoken honorific. You remain there for a moment, silent in mind and body, communing with nothingness as she does, doing so together. “I will....try to be calm with her.” You don't have to ask whom she means.

Leaning back you nod calmly and with understanding; she relaxes somewhat, though she is still a little on edge. Compared to how she was earlier it's a vast improvement. The part of her life you experienced – her 'rising sun', oddly enough, as this is apparently her 'setting sun' if you write her name literally – was traumatic, but it explained a little about her attachment to the previous incarnation of your priestess Kiku-chan. You wonder who set her on the actual path of enlightenment....just a little.

Kiki-hime leans into you and watches as the nine-tailed priestess paints the supine cat-girl with symbols and prayers, her hand resting along your back, as you cradle your left arm. The ache is fierce, but you're getting better at ignoring it. Though that could be the massive amount of your sister's horrible tea that you've been drinking. “Is this kami stuff too, Ryu-chan? Having her help Rie this way?”

[] No, it really is just the opposite.
[] I hadn't actually thought of it that way to be honest.
[] Are you suggesting I'm some kind of kami instead of a demigod?
[] Please don't give the kami any ideas, they might decide to follow through on it.
[] Demigods are supposed to change the way things work; I'm doing what hey made me capable of.

[XXX] Please don't give the kami any ideas, they might decide to follow through on it.

You suppress your own shudder at that suggestion. “Please don't even suggest that us convincing Kyubi-sama to help Rie-chan is remotely like kami stuff. The last thing we need is a mischievous kami decided it would be interesting to actually have it happen that way next time.” She starts to smile, but yet again her smile fades as she realizes you're not joking all that much at all. “Believe me, you know kami stuff when it happens to you. It's....it's not very fun, honestly.” Yuuhi is nodding rapidly in agreement, her ears laid back and her tail twitching.

Her tail is draped along your back and neck, mind you, so it kind of tickles.

“I didn't think about it that way before you mentioned it either, but really, it's not. If anything what we did is the exact opposite of kami stuff.” She looks at you quizzically, and you can't help but smile at how cute your wife is when she's confused. “Demigods are supposed to change the world. Well, this is a small part of the world, but it's a part I might be able to change a little. Even if it's not really me changing it.” Avoiding the fact that it was actually the behest of your wife and your lovers and their lovers that forced Kyubi-sama into performing this hoped for miracle is something of a necessity. They don't need to know, and nor does anyone else, mostly for their own sake. It hurt your brain enough to find out, and the consequences of someone trying to use that information for their own benefit would be disastrous.

Destructive, even, ha ha ha.

You smile and gently move some of her shimmering pink hair away from her face, exposing the tiny scales along her still somewhat flushed cheek. “So, what we're doing is imposing human will on the kami. Kind of a prayer and sorcery combined. Kyubi-sama is responding because she's a kami and she has to obey the prayers and requests in this instance.”
>>
>>1225965
You're pretty sure it isn't a coincidence that Kyubi-sama asks for silence and for candles to be lit and more incense prepared. She kneels next to the makeshift altar, and starts to hum softly, her hands clasped before her and her tails starting to wave. You kiss Kiki-hime quickly and settle down, adopting a reverent pose as best you can with your arm literally half-broken. Well, maybe a quarter.

The soft litany of prayers that your big sister, Er Yin, and Kiku-chan, and Fuuta-chan (a little surprising, but interesting) start to murmur as your family and friends and allies kneel and sit in the darkening room fill the air with soft, warm sounds, and you feel your head becoming light and your spirit becoming loose. It seems to be pervasive, but you're not really surprised; powerful rituals do that.

Or so you've been told. This is kind of the first one you've observed as opposed to being a participant in.

And you probably jinxed it, kamidamnit.

Kyubi-sama's tails become larger, thicker, then thinner and longer, rising behind her like pillars of living golden flame. They sway and swirl, shifting as her face become a mask, then a fox-head (and not like any anime fox head either, but a living fox head atop a human woman's shoulders, which is a lot freakier than you expected it to be), then a more intricate mask, and then her human face. She opens her eyes, glowing gold on black sclera, and you shudder as she fixes them upon you.

You must now give up the burden she placed upon you, Ryuu Ryukusa. You must give up the youkai you have protected for her to restore her to her true state.

It is only with passing smugness you notice that Kyubi-sama didn't use the word 'natural' either.

[] Argue against it; she gave them to you to protect, not as a sacrifice.
[] Time is strange to the youkai....perhaps this is why you were protecting them for her.
[] Reluctantly accept that this is what you wanted, and now you pay for it.
[] Ask her if there is any other way at all, rather than using the cat youkai.
[] It probably isn't an ethical or morality test – Kyubi-sama has been straightforward so far, after all (well, with you).

Ryukusa does not sacrifice beings like that.

Yeah but it really doesn't seem probable that the Kyubi is actually suggesting that we kill a lot of cats, mostly because I feel like she has at least a mild understanding of who we and our wives are.

Also even if Youkai are kind of just seen as aberrations, a ritual that would destroy them seems... pretty impure and thus not really in Kyubi's wheelhouse, even as a suggestion.

>Yeah but it really doesn't seem probable that the Kyubi is actually suggesting that we kill a lot of cats, mostly because I feel like she has at least a mild understanding of who we and our wives are.

Kyubi-sama is also more a pragmatic than Ryukusa, who is an idealist.

>Also even if Youkai are kind of just seen as aberrations, a ritual that would destroy them seems... pretty impure

A lot of purification rituals are about removing or destroying youkai.

So I don't know, I'm PRETTY SURE the Kyubi is well-aware of any previous agreements we made with Rie and has no interest in making us break them, but if you guys really don't want to trust her for some reason, then just bring it up with her.
>>
>>1226037

Yuuhi's story is a pretty good reason.

She might wish us no harm, but it doesn't mean we'd agree with her methods
>>
>>1226047
I guess being concerned for the cats and for how Rie would feel after she's awake again is a good thing, but I suppose I feel like that Kyubi has earned at least a little trust and faith from us, and assuming that she's going to do the mystical equivalent of grinding the cat youkai into a slurry and force-feeding them to Rie and either being smug about us making her do something or genuinely not getting what is disturbing about that... is pretty fucking rude isn't it?
>>
>>1226060

Kitsune don't see the world like spirit-children do. It'd be ruder to assume she does.

Remember she wouldn't have touched this situation if not for our beloved begging. It's not like she cares for Rie.

[++++++] Hey! Who do you think I am, anyways!?

You frown at her – not the least of which is based on the fact that she should fuckin' know better after your earlier speech.

But she asked anyways, which means it's probably more complicated than that.

It isn't really speaking through the void, this communication; it is at once something even more primitive and yet more powerful, a sort of speaking between equals that is occurring on a higher plane of existence than the others seem to have access to. Except, notably, Fuuta-chan and Kiku-chan, whom seem to be aware of your argument.

And they had better believe it is a fuckin' argument.

Are you joking, Kyubi-sama, or are you asking for this as some kind of penance on my part? Because that isn't who or what I am, and you know it. If there is any other way, any way at all, I'll try it in a heartbeat, and that means giving up flesh and blood if I have to.

I am not offended by your outrage or your irritation at my demand, Ryuu Ryukuza, but it is what is necessary to restore Ryiekatsumoun to her proper state of being. It is not destruction as you consider it, nor is it a sacrifice as you understand it. The lesser youkai are barely real, and I do not ask this lightly or without reason. She is calm and controlled, and she can't lie any more than you can contain your feelings on the matter in this state of being.

You look at Rie, covered only in two narrow bands of cloth and painted like some sacrificial victim. The hazy darkness that clouds the room steals the colors from almost everything, save the people here, and the spirits. Kyubi and Yuuhi-chan are two of the most vibrant creatures here, and they hardly look like themselves. Rather, they look much more like themselves: Kyubi is a glittering creature of golden flame and inhuman mien, while Yuuhi is a whorl of vibrant green flames and white light, her hears, hair and tail as black as Kyubi's are bright. They're both equally pure, however dark or light they are. The others are varying degrees of bright and colorful, with Kaga Kei being the second to least of them. Only her eyes and mouth and fingernails (?) shine brightly, rainbows trapped within them.

You're kind of afraid to look at yourself, honestly.

But Rie is not. Aside from the shining red light that the paint has become here, she is as dull and grey as the house itself, only a faint wash of whiteness tinting her delicate frame and fragile body. Her tails are two limp grey ropes and her hair and ears are soft and hardly lighter than the rug or the walls.

Promise me.

[I]?

Promiseme that there is no other way, absolutely no chance of doing this without sacrificing the youkai she gave to me to protect and find a home for. Promise me that, Kyubi. Promise me that, and I'll give them up to you.

She seems somewhat astounded by the request. Yorihokura-sama....Rie-chan IS their home.

Now it is your turn to be utterly bewildered. ?

She slowly lifts a hand and gesture's for you to come to her. Reluctantly you rise and approach her, and every eye in the room is on you now, though what they're seeing you don't even want to guess. The closer you get to Kyubi-sama, though, the more sparks seem to emerge from the air around you. Bright ones, dark ones, electrical and soft and filmy, growing more intense the closer you get to Rie. You hold out your right hand, and they resolve into shimmering catlike shapes, playing and darting through your aura.

Each and every one of these youkai is a tiny piece of what Ryiekatsumoun herself represented, Ryuu Ryukusa. They are formed of herself, and split away when her attention wandered or she let something of herself somewhere in the world. As she moved through the city, these little youkai became her markers, the place-keepers for her territory and presence. Kyubi-sama gently takes your hand and the strange youkai erupt in a swirl of shadows, light and color around your joined hands, the others rushing from your aura to join them. By giving them to you, Rie-chan marked you as hers, made you her territory, her marker in the world. You possessed her, and she became the protector of your family.

Kyubi-sama gently places your fingertips against Rie's brow, and her eyes open immediately, dull and grey immediately flooding with blue light. The whirling youkai-storm swirls from your wrists and hands into her head, and her body flushes with color, her mouth opening in a huge gasp for breath.

In a very real way, seeking a home for these lesser youkai was Rie's way of asking you to find a home for her.

Rie looks up, her eyes clear and bright, slit pupils widening by the second as her tails stiffen and extend and her hands clutch at nothing, nails becoming delicate claws. The red lines burn away, replaced by blue-white light as Rie's aura becomes dark and foreboding, mysterious and strange once more, that haughty, imperious power flooding back into her lithe frame.

There is no mistaking the warmth and appreciation in Kyubi's 'voice'. And now she has one.

The world shimmers, and reality reasserts itself, the ritual finished. You and Kyubi remove your fingers from Rie's forehead, and you stagger, a massive weight gone from you that you weren't even aware of. Kiku-chan is instantly there, keeping you steady long enough for Akari to catch you lightly, careful of your arm. You let her help you kneel on the floor as Rie sits up, blinking her brilliant blue cat's eyes as she looks around imperiously, holding the cloth over her breasts to her chest.

[] Apologize to Kyubi-sama for your misunderstanding.
[] Apologize to Rie-sama for nearly destroying her.
[] Apologize to Akari for falling down on the job.

It's possible that we could have figured out something more outside the box without Kyubi, but this probably was effective. Guess we have to see what "proper" and "true" means for Rie.

I'm curious if Rie is still close of becoming a kami.

Are you REALLY going to nitpick the Kyuubi? Come on man, this just seems like a grudge at this point.

>>1226164
Probably yes, since eventualy we would have figured out the cat connection on our own. Though looking back two threads I don't really know how we went from "give us some guidance/a hit" to "Kyubi does the whole thing"

>Are you REALLY going to nitpick the Kyuubi?

Yes. Dramatic declarations are fine and dandy, but unless you're literally unable to clarify, you should do so without prompting.

>this just seems like a grudge at this point.

Not a grudge at all. Just saying that we wouldn't have reacted like this if she'd been clear from the start.

I'd do the same for any of our beloved too, if they pulled the same stunt.

>Though looking back two threads I don't really know how we went from "give us some guidance/a hit" to "Kyubi does the whole thing"

We didn't, she decided so herself.

Guess Kyubi-sama believes in immediate actions rather than teaching how to solve a problem.
>>
>>1226189
>Nor was the QM expecting you to encourage your wives so much.

Really? But we're always encouraging them...
>>
>>1226189
When would we not encourage our wives to express their desires?

...I guess when we shouldn't have is right now, since it seems like we MIGHT have just skipped Rie's character development?
>>
>>1226208
Like I don't know, I'm assuming that she's a full youkai again, instead of still like a spirit-child but with more power.

Though the fact that she's concerning herself with modesty... I'm not sure if I should view that as significant or not.

Kami like being cryptic. You had no good reason to believe that the Kyuubi's intentions were bad, and multiple reasons to have a little faith in her solutions. And continuing to question her when the fault was ours IS rude.

[+] Thank Akari-niji-chan and Kiku-chan.
[+] Ask Kyubi-sama to be slightly less obtuse next time you ask her for help, perhaps.
[+] Ask how Rie is feeling now.

“Domo, niji-chan, saishi-chan.” Your formal use of the word priestess makes Kiku-chan actually blush rather than explode into mock flames for once. You gesture with your tail for someone – anyone at this point – to come fetch Kiku-chan, as she hasn't yet realized how close she is to the nekomata, and you really don't want her to realize it. You take several slow deep breaths as people start murmuring and nervously laughing, relief in their voices.

Except one.

Alarmed, Kaga Kei is standing up, a talisman in her hand. You look towards her, as do Kyubi-sama and Kiku-chan, while Akari moves just enough to shield your body from anything bad she might conjure. Her focus is solely on Rie, however, who looks back with utter aplomb.

“I wouldn't-” starts Fuuta-chan softly, looking up at the sorceress mildly.

The first syllable is out of Kei's mouth when you feel the rush of power from Rie wash through the room like a tidal wave, making the charm burst into confetti with a loud pop.

“-do that,” finishes Fuuta-chan.

Rie, on the other hand, turns her attention back to the others in the room, who are all looking a little surprised and confused by turns....except for Shoko and Yui-niji-chan, who are looking at Kaga Kei with murder in their eyes.

[] No tying the sorceress in knots, you only started housebreaking her.

[XX] Let Yui have her say this time, she seems pretty irate.
[X] No tying the sorceress in knots, you only started housebreaking her.

“No breaking her, Yui-niji-chan, I just got her thinking outside of her box,” you mention somewhat casually, which causes Shoko take several steps back when she sees the look on her fellow oni-child's face. Fuuta literally jumps over the back of the small sofa she's sitting on and hides when she sees Yui's expression and the steam rising from her hair. Akari looks up and watches with interest, while Kiki covers her sister's ears, which earns her an 'Are you kidding me?' look from her diminutive older sister.

”ARE YOU FUCKING INSANE, YOU KAMIFUCKING MORONIC BITCH?!”

Kaga Kei yelps and holds both arms crossed in front of her defensively, which means her jacket and skirt are only torn to ribbons instead of burned to ashes by the blast of Yui's Angry Face. The paint on the wall behind her browns and peels, while at least five self-windows crack and two or three dishes explode into shards.

“YOU COULD HAVE GOTTEN YOURSELF KILLED! OR CURSED! OR WORSE!” Yui shouts across the room. “DO YOU HAVE ANY IDEA HOW MANY PEOPLE ALMOST KILLED YOU JUST NOW?”

You look at Kiki-hime with a coy smile and lift all your fingers and not your thumbs. Akari holds up four and two. Kiki-hime mouths to you both, 'does Rie count as person?' which makes you look at Akari with confusion, and she shakes her head. You weren't counting her anyways, though.

Kei-san is staring at Yui like she's a demon, and it's a pretty accurate assessment at the moment. “You pulled a loaded gun in a room full of Yakuza and Gods! I'm shocked that you didn't end up full of holes the instant you pulled out the charm, much less managed to say two words!”

“But I-”

I'M FUCKING TALKING HERE YOU DUMB CUNT!” Kei, unprepared for th assault is blasted back and slammed into the wall by the force of Yui's Angry Face, and reels, her knees weak and her hair smoking. Her skirt-suit is a total loss; all she has left are the sleeves, most of the smoking and cracked belt, and a ring of material that falls around her ankles. Her cuff-links are embedded in the smoking black wall behind her.

Kaga Kei shuts the fuck up. Wisely, in your opinion.

“Every single person in this room aside from you is either a trained killer, an emissary of the kami, or is a kami! Or two of the above! I cannot believe you did that! Especially against someone that the person who rescued you was trying to save!” Yui's eyes are blazing cauldrons of fire, and she crosses her arms. “The next time you do something so stupid, you should just ask someone to stab you in the neck! Or do it yourself!”

“S....sorry....so sorry....” Kei whimpers, before she crumples to her knees and stares at Yui-niji-chan, who walks over and looks down at her sternly. “Please don't hurt me....” she whispers.
>>
>>1226502
Yui-niji-chan sinks to her knees and wraps the trembling girl in a hug. “You idiot....I'm trying to protect you!” she murmurs softly, her eyes cooling to their natural greenish glow rather than the blue she changed them to for you.

The dumbfounded expression in Kaga Kei's eyes as she sees the expressions of pity and understanding in the faces of the people around her is priceless. The emotional toll finally overwhelms her and she breaks down, crying in Yui's arms as the oni-chick gently pats her and holds her, murmuring that she shouldn't scare people like that, and that she'll be okay now.

You sigh and turn to Kyubi-sama, who is looking elegant and placid in her sharp suit once more and maybe, just maybe, a touch self-satisfied. It's an effort to rise, the throbbing pain in your arm and the spiritual shock you are in leaving you exhausted, but rise you do (with minimal help form Akari). Then you bow to her. “Please excuse this stupid lizards ignorance, Kyubi-sama. She looks at you with a bit of surprise, which you have to smile at as you stand straight. “I was worried about many things, and I should have trusted you a bit more, I think....but it is hard to do when you speak in riddles so much.” She inclines her head respectfully but that smile broadens a little. “I may be a Water dragonette, but your kind are still difficult to figure out.”

“We are as we must be, Ryukusa-san. It is the nature of the world.” You nod and bow your head again. Kiki-hime comes over and hugs Kyubi-sama, and thanks her profusely, while Er Yin gently guides the still ignorant Kiku-chan away from the God's Eye Nekomata, who is staring and leaning away from Yuuhi-chan while Yuuhi-chan leans in on tip toes to sniff at her.

Gently taking Yuuhi's hand you pull her away from the youkai, who doesn't seem especially upset or perturbed by Yuuhi's actions this time around, which you think might be a good sign. “Leave the really powerful cat youkai alone, Yuuhi-chan.” Yuuhi sniffs at Rie a few more times, and Rie lashes her tails slowly, but doesn't growl or glare, which you are seriously thankful for.

“Rie-sama....would you like me to get you some clothing?” Your sister is folding her fan against her chest with both hands, and is both respectful and pleased with the situation it seems.

“Yes, please,” the nekomata replies calmly and politely, and you glance at her dubiously. Rie even accepts Jinyuu-onee-sama's hand to help her rise from the coffee table, though she keeps her breasts covered with the cloth and her other arm. Her tails move to wrap about her hips, maintaining at least the illusion of modesty, and you blink at that. Kiki-hime is surprised as well.
>>
>>1226510
“Even her short time as a human being has changed her, Kiki-hime,” Kyubi-sama murmurs softly. “She is different now, but still the creature you know as Rie.”

“Will she remain our family guardian, Kyubi-sama?” you ask softly, though that is not what you are really asking, and not what Kyubi answers.

“I cannot say for certain, Ryukusa-san, but....I think she will remain with the person who would defy the odds to help her, even if she did not truly need that help.” Kiki-hime smiles, understanding the surface question and answer. You have to admit that your smile is for the same reason. You like Rie, strange and dangerous as she is, and she does indeed have a home here. You owe her an apology of course, but you'll get to it when she's dressed.

You're not surprised you didn't have a single naughty thought about Rie when she was barely covered. Nekomata are scary. So, apparently, is an angry Yui-niji-chan. “The phone ringing in the distance is answered by Shoko, who speaks politely and softly, and then looks – and you're starting to hate the term – bewildered.

“Could you repeat that please?” Shoko listens, and then frowns mightily, and that girl has one mighty frown. She presses the button for HOLD, and looks at you. “Kiki's agent says he has the arrangements for her play set up, and wants to know where he's supposed to send the tickets.”

Kiki-hime's hand waving and head shakes are still going on as you slowly turn to her. She smiles wide and is sweating bullets when you look at her with your draconic eyes and cross your arms – both of them – over your breasts, pain a distant and unimportant memory as Akari slowly takes a step away from you.

[XX] Wait for it. Just....wait for that explanation that will surely explain things.
[X] Please tell me that you did not go out in public and do these things without an escort.

You look at her silently for a long moment, and it really starts to make everyone nervous. You close your eyes slowly, and the tension in the room fades almost immediately. Lowering your arms you slowly walk back to the couch and use your tail to help lower yourself into it.

The palpable relief in the room is enough to let you know your most immediate worries aren't anything to actually be worried about, but you'll worry anyways. You look up at her and offer your right hand to her. She slowly walks to you and takes your hand, looking a little worried now, as opposed to concerned for the reaction she was going to get. Not unreasonable on her part, you suppose.

“I sincerely hope you have something resembling an explanation that will bypass the fact that we only talked about this once since I woke up last, Kiki-hime.” She blushes rather deeply and you sigh softly. “At least tell me you did this with the help of others?”

Akari quickly moves over to Er yin and speaks quietly with your sorceress and your priestess, whose hair and clothing floats in the pseudo-ignition of alarm. Fuuta-chan is speaking with Kei and Yui-niji-chan near the scorched wall (note to self: do not teach Yui how to swear) while Yuuhi is over by the door speaking with Kyubi-sama. Shoko is back on the phone, and is making sure things are getting taken care of safely, it sounds like – it was her job for the previous incarnation of Horobi after all.

Ignoring all of it in favor of your wife, you hold her fingers in your hand, both of hers gently clutching at yours. She looks at you earnestly, and the words tumble in a rush. “no, no, Ryu-chan, Akari-chan and Yui-chan helped me with almost all of it, and your sister and Er Yin-sensei helped me with the rest. I didn't even have to leave the house.” You relax and smile, the warmth of her touch soothing. “I promise, Ryu-chan, I was very careful and took every precaution our family demanded.”

“That's....that's good.” the exhaustion hits, and it hits hard. You try to rise, but the overwhelming insanity of the day.

Kiki-hime leans close. “Go to sleep, Ryu-chan,” she whispers softly, before her lips cover yours in a soft, gentle kiss you barely manage to return. “Let us take care of you for a little while longer.”

“Yes, my princess,” is all you manage before you are out like a light.

>>1225845
This is largelyt correct. Yuuhi, like yourself, has been a direct recipient and victim of Kami Stuff, and she is fully aware that as a kami, Kyubi-sama would not hesitate to do untoward or terrible seemign things, even if it was the best thing for your family in the long run.

Beign a servant of Inari, when your wife and loved ones make a demand from her, she cannot resist at all, and firther, must do her utmost to succeed at a task they have given her. Teachign ryukusa what would be necessary for the transformation would be pointless - Ryukusa isn't sorceress enough to understand the magical ritual and needs of the youkai. Add that to the fact that Kyubi's nature as a kami is permanently stuck on "mysterious" soul as well as "gentle" soul due to her nature, any explanation she might give would have been nearly incomprehensible for Ryukusa (who actually needs some clues and some logical process to understand certain things - she is capable of saying 'okay, go with the flow,' but you can't do that with magic and youkai).

>>1226164
Rie is not close to becoming a kami at all now....but that doesn't mean she can't become one still. She is definitely your family's guardian spirit though, and even having been human for so little time, the experience has tainted her deeply.

Kiki-hime, about 3 weeks; Akari, about 2 weeks and 4 days; Kiku-chan, about a week.

You're actually liable to see Kiku give birth, so to speak, as she will be laying an egg and her nature allows for her pregnancy to be 'hurried'.
>>
>>1226797
No changes, really - the Stuff system is independent of the Elemental system. The types of situations and their resolutions would have vastly different, as you can see from the various side stories.

>>1226802
I meant more that if Stuff is Good, life seems happier and better, while if Stuff is Bad, life seems to be shitting on Ryukusa and the world is darker. Would that have changed/would the ways Ryukusa could have perceived it have changed?
>>
>>1226798
How overprotective will everyone be towards the egg?
>>
>>1226806
Considering all it requires is for Ryukusa to have more of a mystical type of energy, and since Ryukusa's pearl is dissolved into her body, it probably means that she could just touch their pearl with a pinky and get them pregnant.
>>
>>1226807
Not really. The Good/Bad Stuff is essentially the same regardless of the character or setting; it's a narrative tool, rather than a genre tool.

She's fairly certain that when she's done, those will be the least of ANYONE'S problems.

Chisato does pretty well avoiding those issues, and Ryukusa can't take over the entire Yakusa hierarchy and get what she needs to do done, sadly. But that doesn't mean she won't make people aware that if they push boundaries with her, they cannot win.

I'm not sure what it means. Ryukusa is delegating everything concerning the Yakuza business to Chisato, and Chisato is dealing with those things promptly? Or is it more "it can't be dealt with right now" ?

Did Rie actually have a contingency plan using those cats in our aura, or was that Kami Stuff?

I think I remember you saying youkai were unable to conceptualize defeat, or was that just death?

Also, will there be any lasting significance to one of the few things that happened to Rie when she was mortal be Ryukasa weeping for her, and Rie comforting her?
>>
>>1227044
Yes, Ryukusa is in fact delegating to Chisato - but Chisato also has Her Imperial Majesty Peta to help, along with a fair continguent of both nogitsune-born and the familiar couples as well.

Ryukusa has to trust someoen to take care of what she can't, and if she has to scare the bosses to get them in lie with her plans, she'll do just that.

>>1228562
Rie didn't even understand that those little cat youkai were parts of her, memories of places she'd been and things she had done. Defeat and death are alien concepts - a youkai thinks in terms of eternal existence without end or change to itself. If Ryukusa had found a home for those youkai, then eventially Rie would have shown up there as well, even if she had 'died' or been 'killed' by an exorcism.

And there are already lasting significant changes, including those influenced by Ryukusa's crying for her friend, and being comforted by mortal Rie. For instance, a youkai beign confronted by someone using a talisman or charm agaisnt them could have simple killed, curse, or assaulted Kei, who was nowhere near strong enough to take on something like Rie by herself. Yet all Rie did was snuff the talisman - 'mercy' is also an alien concept to youkai.
