Welcome to Delilah's Birthday Quest, a oneshot draw quest! This will be quick one, but I am running this to celebrate one year of my quest. You don't need to play Melancholic Quest to play this though, so feel free to jump in if you want to play a cute and quick draw quest!

Link to Melancholic Quest, but not needed to play this: http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/qstarchive.html?tags=aCowboyNamedSue

The date is January 21st 1984 and today is a very special day for you. Today is the day of your birthday, and you've been working all morning planning on it!

The problem is that, while you know just what you'll need to make this birthday totally rad, it's only on paper. There's a lot of things you need for this party, none of which you have on hand.

>Cake
>Entertainment
>Rad Birthday Outfit
>Decorations
>Guests

Now, as cool and cute as you are, you lack the even the bare minimum of what a party needs- guests! You and your mom just moved to this city, so not only do you not know the area you don't have any friends to invite to this party either! But with enough charisma, charm, and luck (but mostly luck) not even that should deter you from making today special! With your trusty rabbit, Ms Buttons, at your side, all you've got to do is get the supplies and set up! Easy enough!

But from all your advanced planning, you realize having funds is of the utmost importance. A bit of luck comes in though; Mom is already taking her morning hangover nap and her purse is totally unguarded. She won't mind if you borrow some cash right now, when she sees the great party you've got going she might even forget all about you digging through her purse!

Entertainment for your party is a must, you've decided that. The last birthday party you went to had a band, a live band! But you aren't a simple copycat, no way. With a look through the yellow pages and a couple of tries, you finally find someone who doesn't hang up the phone on you right away!

"Hello, this is Mr. Faraway speaking from the Queen B-"

"Hi you guys entertain?"

"Excuse me?"

"I'm having a party today and I gotta impress people. Can I like order a person or something?"

"Er, sure. What were you looking for in terms of- wait, how old are you?"

Oh man, that's right! You need to figure out exactly what you want at your party today! Good thing you were a smartie earlier and did some brainstorming. Course you're also limited on funds, so you should choose what you want for this party very carefully...

"Part of me says clown too though."

"...a clown?"

"Yeah, if you could find a way to work one of those in or something that would be great. Can you get all that by tonight?"

"Erm, I'm sure we could.But-"

"Great! Thanks!" With no time to waste, you hang up the phone and grab Ms Buttons. There are still a lot of preparations that need to be made and not a lot of time to do them! Right now you should go and get the cake though, so it's time for a quick trip over to a friendly baker!

Waiting at the stop light like a proper citizen, you can't help but think about how amazing your party is going to end up being. By the time it's over, your whole name will be known across town.

Delilah Esposito, profession party thrower- that's something you could get used to hearing.

But even with a great host like you running things, you still have to make sure every little detail is perfect. Of course that also means holding this at the perfect location. Who knows how many people you'll end up bringing in, you need to make the best impression possible!

>Hold it at your house, you could fix that up to be the jazziest place in no time.

While breaking and entering is a very appealing idea to your rebellious attitude, trying to get Mom half way across town sounds like more of a challenge than you're prepared for, and she has to see what you're doing! She'll be so proud of the party you put together yourself, she might even stay awake for the whole thing!

Speaking of family, Grandma is in town! Since you've moved in there hasn't been much time to go visit her, but you bet she would like to come to your party too. With a payphone in sight, you saunter on over to invite your first guest.

...
...
...

Grandma doesn't pick up.

She must not love you any more.

Next one to come soon

That's fine! You'll just have to throw such an amazing party, Grandma will never ignore your calls again! You're never going to have an amazing party if you don't get an equally awesome cake though, and so your journey to the cake shop continues.

Takes the Cake

The more you look at it, the more it looks like someone couldn't come up with a clever enough name for their shop. As long as their cakes aren't as lame as the name though it should be fine.

You're not even upset that Grandma didn't answer, you're totally stoked about getting this cake! The lady at the counter must notice your party planning aura, as she looks over right as you enter.

"Well hey there, name's Michele. Can I help you find something today?"

"MY GRANDMA DOESN'T LOVE ME ANYMOOOOORE....!"

The woman at the counter, Michele, is kind enough to help you work through this heartbreak.

"Er, I'm sorry to hear that. If you tell me what you need, I can see about cutting you a nice deal to help cheer you up."

"Um, I came in for a cake..." you explain, embarrassed by that temporary meltdown. "It's my birthday today and I'm throwing a party. Can you get me the fanciest cake you've got? I can pay for it."

You wait patiently as Michele goes to the back, arriving again soon with a huge cake in her hands.

"This one was just finished an hour ago. German chocolate cake with strawberry filling inside and chocolate dipped strawberries on top. Look see, we can even write your name on the top if you like."

"Perfect!" This cake looks delicious, even if you would feel a little bad cutting into something that nice looking. You pull our Mom's wallet, ready to pay for this yummy treat to go in your possessions. "How much is it?"

"Well, since you seem to be having a hard time I can knock off about 40% of the price."

"Sweet!"

"Yep, this thing will only cost you $15.95 today."

The ten dollar bill hangs limply in your hand, Mom's now empty wallet in your other. You'd forgotten that it had been Wino Wednesday at Mom's book club, which means she probably had to restock her supply. None of that would matter if she managed to leave you just six more bucks.

"A-Actually, I've changed my mind!" you announce, leaving the money on the counter.

"Eh?"

"Bring me all the cupcakes this will buy me! This way, it's like my guests have their own mini cake! Much better than sharing just one!"

"Ah, right, I see. Well if you give me a moment, I'll go check in the back to see what I can do."

You keep your cool the entire time, or at least till Michele goes to the back room. A real lady waits to be sad when she's all alone, after all.
>>
As you wait for the cupcakes, you can't help but start doubting just how amazing this party will actually be. What if you can't get the decorations? What if you can't get it set up in time? Or worst, what if you can't find any guests?! You can't make friends if no one shows up!

But hey! That's not the way a winner should think! No way, you've gotta stay focused! Cupcakes are cool, you can work with them. They're just minicakes after all, right?

If anything, you'll be starting a new trend!

You can't let anything set you back, not even a pesky annoyance like having no guests yet! That's totally fixable, and besides- they won't want to leave once they see what you've got ready.

After you're done here, you're going to need to get some decorations. Sure your funds might be nearly nonexistent, but that's no biggie either.

You've already got a cake lady coming and you'll be leaving here with your cake, but somehow you don't have a theme for your party yet...

Right, so streamers and lots and lots of balloons are a must of course. You'll need something that shows off your cool side too though... Mom should still have those mature and artsy posters hidden away in her room somewhere, she wouldn't mind you borrowing them for a good cause. Which means you'll have to find the streamers and balloons somewhere else, maybe a banner too if you can manage it-

Oh! What if too many people try to come to your party? Or what if people try to crash your party? It might be too much for one girl like you to handle! What do clubs usually use for that sort of thing?

Big strong bouncers! One that no one would dare to cause trouble around! But where are you going to find someone like that?

...oh!

The guy who stands towering behind you looks perfect for the job! Now you just need to get him to do the job for you...

"Hey man, you look like the type who knocks heads together." You heard that line in a movie before, you're pretty sure that's how it went anyways. "Be pretty great if my greatamazingwonderful little party tonight had some muscle to keep the riffraff out."

The man stares down at you, not saying anything.

Maybe you're too cool, and now he's afraid to speak up. No matter, you can play it with a light touch too.

"Of course, I'm hoping things don't get too...violent." Flip your hair back, just like Mom does when she's trying to get out of a ticket. "I'd feel so much safer if I knew there was a big strong guy there to keep everyone in line."

The tears may look real, but you're just that great of an actress. Hollywood watch out, cause you're ready to break some hearts.

You stare the foe down, frozen in place with fear. It might be a silly fear, but now isn't the time to think about it. Now is the time to try and not have this thing touch you.

Unfortunately and in a manner that would be considered very uncool, a shriek leaves your mouth and you cling to the man unfortunate enough to be standing right behind you.

"Save me please..." you beg, looking up at the man.

The process of removing the flying menace seems to be a rather easy one for him. Of course you don't look in fear of it flying at your eyes, but he waves it off and the next time you look the creature is gone.

He really would make a good bodyguard, you must have like, a talent for knowing these kind of things.

"Alright, buncha cupcakes coming your way!" Michele comes out from the back again, a box in her hand. She stops at the counter, watching as the man tries to untangle himself from you. "Oh, Lawrence. I didn't know you were stopping in today... Do you know this girl?"

"He just saved me!" you announce, pulling away from him. "And just in time for my cupcakes!" You rush up to the counter, taking the heavy box in your hand. "So, is he your boyfriend?"

"Lawrence? Oh no, he's my little brother." Michele accepts your payment and you tell her to keep the change, something a mature adult would do.

"Oh that's good. I thought I was going to become a home wrecker for a second."

"...eh?"

"Thanks for the cupcakes! I gotta finish getting the rest of my party set up!" you march outside, stopping when you realize that your newly appointed bodyguard hasn't followed. Honest mistake, maybe he's talking to his sister about the cool party tonight! You wait patiently outside, the guy- Lawrence- walking out and down the sidewalk. His strides might be twice as long as yours, but that's fine. Consider this a workout before your big party!

"You're kind of taking the long way to get to my place, but that's okay. We still have time before my party is supposed to start!" Lawrence doesn't stop till he comes to a red light, waiting patiently like a good law abiding citizen. That has to be good features to look for in a man, you feel even prouder about your choice already. Yet another thing crossed off your list, you now have to:

>Decorate
>>Find a way to get streamers and balloons
>Get a totally rad birthday outfit
>Find guests

Guests should probably wait till after you have the party pad set up, but that still leaves you with plenty to do!

After you drop off the cake, you should-

"You know, it wouldn't take too long to get to the zoo from here!" you hurry past Lawrence, rightfully leading the way just as you should. "That's the perfect place to look for balloons, you're a pretty smart guy Lawrence." The guy doesn't say much, but that's okay. You can certainly fill in the empty spaces, you're just that naturally charismatic.

When Lawrence tries to walk past the bus stop needed to go on route of the zoo, you begin to worry that the new bodyguard you have might be a bit of an airhead. A simple yank on his shirt keeps him in place next to you, the wait for public transportation beginning. During the wait Lawrence pulls out a cigarette, but you're quick to come to his rescue.

"Drinking and smoking is bad!" you explain to him, "We have to make Nancy Reagan proud!"

The wait for the bus takes much too long for your liking, and you opt to walk the short distance with Lawrence's sleeve pulling at your hand the entire way.

"See! That wasn't too bad!" you exclaim at the gate, shoving the box of cupcakes into his hands. "Hold these for a sec and I can see about getting us in." To be honest, you're a bit excited. You've never gotten to go and talk to the person running the booth before, it really makes you feel like an adult handling this yourself.

"Hello, I need two tickets please!"

"Alright, a child and adult?" the woman working the booth asks.

"What? No, two adults. I'm going in with him." you proudly say, puffing out your chest. "But a lady always appreciates hearing how youthful she still looks~"

"Er, right. So two adult tickets will cost you seven bucks." She points at the sign behind her, prices listed boldly in offensive lettering demanding payment.

Payment with money you no longer have.

Something as simple as a lack of funds could never slow you down!

"If you would excuse me for a moment, ma'am." you back away turning to the parking lot. What treasures will you find out there? The black asphalt is like your oyster, and you're ready to crack it open and scoop out the sweet sweet cash inside. Or however oysters work, those are yucky.

...

Turns out, those occasional nickles and dimes you find on the ground are just that- occasional nickles and dimes. You decide to cheat a little and take look inside one of the unlocked cars, swiping up any change they have stuck under their seat.

"Alright!" Excited, you bound over to Lawrence with the treasure in hand. "Couple of quarters and a piece of candy, I can work with this!"

Just as a bodyguard should, Lawrence stands back as you handle the careful negotiations. Laying your plentiful bounty on the table, you wait by confidently as Mabel counts them out.

"So how about it?" you ask, "Think I can get tickets for me and sweet cheeks here."

"Eh, sorry. Looks like you've only got about a dollar fifty here. If you can manage to get me three more bucks I'll just go ahead and let you guys in on the senior discount."

"Three dollars? Pfft please, I could find that under my pillow!"

That parking lot is barren though, which means you will have to resort to desperate measures.

This would be a wasted opportunity for you to not accept the free face painting. You approach the table with speeds previously unseen before, startling the woman working with your sudden approach.

"Oh, hello," she greets, "Were you wanting to get your face pa-"

"I wanna look like a bunny." You take a seat on the stool set aside, beaming up at her with a never ending smile. The brush tickles your face and the paint feels cold as it dries, but when you get to look back at the reflection in the mirror you can't help but relish in how cute you look. The woman must feel so proud about getting to work on such a nice and pretty canvas that is your face, truly an opportunity that would come once in a lifetime for someone like her.

"I'm glad you like it. Is there anything el-"

"Ah!" You jump up to your feet.

"Ah..?"

"Lawrence!" you start scanning the area, wondering why it is so hard to locate a huge guy in such an empty place. "He needs to get in onth-I FOUND HIM!" Over back at the ticket booth still, you can see that girl Mabel is talking to him. "Hey! Come over here! You have to get painted like a bear or something!" You can't help but notice that your waves go unnoticed, and so your wasted efforts stop.

"Looks like your friend is a bit preoccupied."

"He just probably doesn't see me. He's uh, my bouncer. I'm having this way cool party tonight." you cross your arms and try to act like it's not big deal, but you keep looking back over to the ticket booth.

"A party huh? That sounds exciting. So your friend going to keep trouble out?"

"He's supposed to. Don't tell him I said this, but I think he might be a bit of an airhead."

"Pfft..." she laughs, "Him? An airhead? Nah, maybe some sort of womanizer. Mabel doesn't usually talk to guys who hang around during work." She's laughing this entire time she says this, but now you're worried about bringing on an unreliable bodyguard. What if he lets in all the wrong kind of people? What if he is the wrong kind of people? Or worse, what if he ends up sneaking off and away from the party with some chick to go do kissing stuff?!

"Not happening!" you shout, startling the woman.
