>>Information

This quest, as the title suggests, takes place in the world of Dragon Ball. You're playing as a twenty-two year old man named Tofoo, and will adventure through the story of the Dragonball series alongside characters such as Goku, Yamcha, Bulma, Tien, and many others. Through your actions, you can make significant changes to the story, and perhaps even become the strongest fighter on Earth.

>Rules

At the end of each update you'll have ten minutes to vote on options. Write-ins are allowed, but I do reserve the right to veto them.

In the event of a draw, the option to receive the next vote wins

Rolls will be used on certain occasions, such as attempting a technique for the first time or attempting something extremely difficult. You will have three rolls, and if one succeeds, you succeed. There are no crits.

Rolls are made AFTER an option wins, not during the voting process

I hope everyone has fun.

The Twenty-Fourth World Martial Arts Tournament has finally come to an end.

The crowd is buzzing, the reporters are discussing the matches, and countless people are buying an endless amount of merchandise and souvenirs. All in all, you're sure that those in charge of the tournament will see a sizable profit from this whole thing.

And as for you, you've been dubbed the World Champion of Martial Arts, finally fulfilling your dream of winning the World Tournament after so many years. Now, with your wife, son, and friends, you make your way through the crowd, waving off reporters as you and the others find a place to enjoy a delicious meal.

Soon, everyone is digging in to some of the greatest food on Papaya Island (though Kori is eating about as much as everybody else combined). Spirits are high, despite some disappointment among those that were defeated, and it looks as if it will be a wonderful evening.

"So, Champ," Bulma addresses you in a teasing tone as she leans back in her chair. "You finally won. So now what?"

"Now, I'm gonna keep training to surpass Goku," you tell her, smiling. "Would you still want a guy who stops when he hits a goal?"

She smiles back. "Well, if that guy's you, I wouldn't mind too much. But I'm glad to see that you're going to keep aiming higher, I like a man who's driven."

Looking across the table, you pause for a moment before telling Bulma that you'd like to try running your own martial arts school.

"Personally, I'd save that for when you're retired," your wife tells you, bouncing Trunks on her lap. "With the way things are now, you're either always training, or fighting to protect the world. Not much time for anything else."

"Good point," you tell her, reaching out to take Trunks. "But I always have time for you."

Bulma gives you a skeptical look as she hands you your son. "Tofoo, you might as well be married to that gravity chamber I built you."

You can tell she's mostly teasing, but maybe it would be a good idea to make more time for your family. As you hold Trunks, he looks up at you with wide eyes, smiling and waving his arms.

"Papa!" he declares happily.

"Has anybody seen Launch?" you hear Oolong ask from nearby.

"She probably ran off after Lapis and Piccolo," Bulma answers before taking a sip of wine. "We'll see her again eventually."

"Her or her mugshot," Krillin comments.

Dinner soon comes to an end, and one by one, everybody gets up from the table. Bulma suggests taking a walk around the city, but before the conversation can progress, there's a loud crash from outside.

"Aw, come on!" you hear a voice shout in frustration.

That bodes poorly.

Handing your son back to Bulma, you rush outside to see what all of the noise is about. As you pass through the door of the restaurant (ignoring the staff who think that you're attempting to dine and dash), you find yourself greeted by the sight of some odd-looking vehicle crashed through the wall of the building across the street.

Somehow, the vehicle's owner managed to crash it through the third-floor wall.

People begin to gather around, looking up in confusion at the strange vehicle, talking among themselves about what it could be. You hear theories ranging from a new Capsule Corp vehicle on a test flight to aliens.

"Don't worry, Earthlings, I'm unharmed!" the voice you heard just moments ago declares from above.

A short figure has appeared, balancing atop the vehicle like a diver preparing to leap into a pool. In a moment, he jumps off of the vehicle, doing a swan-dive toward the ground before flipping at the last moment and landing on his feet.

He's short, probably less than five feet tall, and very strange-looking. In fact, you can't tell if he's some guy in a Halloween costume, or an alien like some of the now thoroughly-worried people are claiming. The skin on his head is blue, save his purple scalp, and his eyes are large and yellow. He's wearing some odd outfit, and appears to have a gun holstered on his hip.

He looks around the crowd, seeming disinterested toward the various gawkers. He steps forward, carrying himself with an air of superiority as his eyes search for something. A quick feeling of his energy tells you that he's a lot stronger than most humans, but not even close to being a threat to you.

He begins to walk across the street, and the frightened people clear some room for him. When he comes to you, a look of irritation appears on his face.

"Excuse me, Super Elite coming through," he says irritably. "Mind stepping aside?"

"So, are you an alien or what?" you ask the strange man in front of you.

Rather than getting more annoyed, he seems amused by your question, bringing the back of his hand up just in front of his mouth and giving an arrogant laugh.

"Oh, poor, naive Earthling, I'm not just any alien," he declares. "I am....."

He begins doing a series of poses that make your mind flash back to the battle on Namek, where you and your friends faced off against the eccentric group of elite warriors known as the Ginyu Force.

"...the Super Elite Galactic Patrolman!" the man declares, striking a final pose. "JACO!"

"Jaco?" you hear Bulma ask from behind you.

She comes to stand by your side, taking a moment to look over Jaco while Trunks just stares at him curiously. A look of recognition comes to Bulma's face, and she smiles.

"Long time no see, space cop," she greets pleasantly.

Jaco looks toward her, looking her up and down for a moment. "Bulma?!"

He sounds surprised, but probably not as surprised as you are that he and your wife seem to know each other.

Bulma nods. "What brings you out here?"

Jaco seems to recover from his shock, and takes on a business-like demeanor. "I was just talking to your sister, and she told me that you know some people who were able to fight off Saiyans!"

Bulma shrugs like it's no big deal. "Yeah, most of my friends could take care of Saiyans no problem."

"You're kidding!" Jaco says in disbelief. "The Saiyans are one of the most brutal races in the universe. You really expect me to believe that your friends wouldn't even have trouble with them?"

"We've killed three so far," you tell Jaco. "Not to mention Zarbon, Dodoria, and the Ginyu Force."

Jaco turns his head toward you, seemingly having difficulty processing what you've just said. That doesn't last long, however, as he quickly erupts into laughter.

"Yeah, right," he says with great amusement. "The Ginyu Force are the most elite team of warriors in the entire universe, and both Zarbon and Dodoria are capable of single-handedly destroying entire planets!"

"No, he's telling the truth, Jaco," Bulma tells him matter-of-factly. "It started with this one Saiyan creep that came to Earth looking for my friend Goku."

"Goku's a Saiyan, too," you explain to Jaco.

The spaceman goes stiff for a moment, a bead of sweat dripping down his head. "I'm going to pretend that I didn't hear that."

Bulma smirks. "Right, you were supposed to keep any Saiyans from landing on Earth, weren't you?"

Jaco turns around, crossing his arms and looking away. "I-I don't know what you're talking about. My reason for being here had nothing to do with that."

"Well, it's a good thing, too," you tell Jaco. "Since Goku killed Freeza."

For a moment, Jaco says nothing. But, he quickly erupts into even more laughter, actually hunching over and shaking with amusement.

"D-don't kid like that!" he manages to choke out through his laughter. "Nobody could ever defeat Freeza!"

"Well, have you heard anything about Freeza recently?" you ask Jaco.

He tilts his head to the side. "Now that you mention it, not really. But his forces have still been causing plenty of trouble. Even his soldiers are dangerous enough to be a threat to the Galactic Patrol, there's no way anybody, even a Saiyan, could defeat him."

"Speaking of which," you tell him. "Why did you want to know about fighting Saiyans?"

"Hmm?" he asks, turning around to face you. "Oh, that's right! I'm here because I need help with an ultra-important assignment. If you're a fighter, then I'm willing to appoint you temporarily as a Junior Galactic Patrol Officer! It's a rare opportunity, and your duty as a citizen of the galaxy to help a Super Elite when he asks."

Bulma sighs. "Jaco, what is it?"

"I was just getting to that!" Jaco insists. "I've been assigned to deal with a ruthless band of pirates. Since your friend here can fight Saiyans, I figured he might be helpful in dealing with these criminals."

"Oh, Tofoo's my husband," Bulma clarifies for Jaco.

That seems to surprise the space cop, who looks between you and Bulma, then at the little child in her arms.

"Ah, well that explains the kid," he says, not sounding all that interested. "Anyway, what was I talking about?"

"You were going to deputize me," you answer before shouting for your friends.

The others soon gather around, a few asking you and Bulma who Jaco is. As you give a brief explanation, Jaco seems to remember what he was talking about.

"So, I've been charged with tracking down a group of space pirates," Jaco explains. "They call themselves the Turles Crusher Corps, and they've been wreaking havoc across the milky way!"

"So, what makes them so dangerous that you can't handle it yourself?" Krillin asks.

"Well, for starters, they're led by one of the few remaining Saiyans," Jaco informs him.

"A Saiyan?" Krillin asks, snorting. "Is that all? We've killed three of those already."

"Yes, yes, your friend already told me," Jaco says, annoyed. "But he's not working alone. His men are some of the roughest, toughest criminals in the galaxy!"

"I'm sure we can handle it," Tenshinhan assures him.

Jaco nods in approval. "Good. Now all we need to do is track them down."

"Hold on, you don't even know where they are?" Bulma asks him.

Jaco pulls out some sort of device, taking a look at it and frowning. "Well, their last known attack was on Planet Pupcin, and before that they were on Planet Chare, and before that-"

"But you don't know where they are NOW," Lazuli interrupts.

"Well, no," Jaco admits. "But tracking them down shouldn't be too hard. We just have to wait for them to attack another planet, then we can rush in and beat them before they leave."

That seems like a poorly thought out plan.

"Is there anything you can tell us about Turles' men?" you ask the space cop.

"Let's see," Jaco taps the object in his hand, frowning. "We only know the names of two of them. Turles, their leader. At least we think that's why they're called the Turles Crusher Corpes. Other than that, we only know the identity of one other, a violent murderer by the name of Amond. He was arrested for countless murders and untold destruction. But Turles attacked the prison where Amond was being held, and they joined forces."

"The planets they attacked," you say. "Was their anything on those planets that they were after?"

"Any idea why?" you ask him.

"How should I know?" he asks in return. "Maybe they have a thing for gardening."

Starting to get irritated with Jaco's attitude, you simply resolve to have everybody go home and wait until they hear something from the space cop.

However, before you can voice this suggestion, you get a sudden chill, and become aware of multiple energy signatures heading your way. Closing your eyes and focusing on them, you feel your heart rate skyrocket. There must be hundreds of them, maybe even thousands. Their powers range from pathetic to higher than the Ginyu Force, and none of them feel particularly friendly.

"Bulma, take Trunks and get out of here," you instruct, readying yourself for another battle.

She looks over at you, confused, while Trunks stares up at the sky.

"Tofoo, what's wrong?" Tenshinhan asks.

"Something's coming," you warn, feeling the energy signatures rapidly getting closer.

"Yeah, I feel it, too," Yamcha tells you, worry in his voice.

Without another word, you rocket into the air, climbing high above the city and looking off toward the horizon, waiting for the approach of these energy signatures.

Yamcha's the first to join you, though one by one the others do the same, including Kori and Konattsu. Your group waits, until finally, you can just make out a sea of small figures making their way through the sky, approaching the island at amazing speed.

As they draw closer, you're faced with some rather familiar opponents. They're the spitting image of those alien monsters the Saiyans grew during their invasion of Earth, and it seems that whoever unleashed this particular batch brought quite a variety, as you see creatures of many colors and powers rapidly approaching, a few dropping down toward the city, while the bulk of their force comes gunning for you.

"Well, who's ready for a fight?" Yamcha asks grimly.

The creatures begin to let out loud, animalistic cries as they close in, and you know that it will be only a matter of seconds before they reach you.

As the seemingly endless force of monsters comes screaming toward you and your friends, you gather your energy, unleashing a massive wave of power that eliminates dozens of them in an instant. The rest keep coming, however, and you're forced to fire a barrage of energy blasts right at them.

Krillin and Chi-Chi throw Kienzan's toward the oncoming monsters, cutting down entire rows of them at a time.

Yamcha fires a Kamehameha into the enemy force, while Tenshinhan and Chaozu fire Dodonpa's, ravaging the ranks of beasts that continue to come.

The monsters let our horrific shrieks as they're killed, some being incinerated, others falling to pieces, others exploding into chunks of flesh and guts. Yet this disturbing spectacle doesn't seem to deter the others, who just keep coming.

Despite the damage you've done, the beasts continue to move toward you like a crushing wave, drawing closer and closer, until they finally strike, with the heads of dozens of the creatures splitting open and shooting out some sort of white liquid substance.

"NOT LIKE THIS," you shout. "NOT AGAIN! EVERYBODY, GET OUT OF THE WAY!"

Diving, you're followed by your friends as you quickly move to the ground, avoiding the wave of acid that proceeds to turn blocks of the city to smoldering ash.

Up above you, the creatures shriek with delight before rushing down to engage you again.

Thanks as always for running man. I'm glad we're back to DBQuest and I'm glad that Spirit Detective Quest is going well too.

How do you feel that DBS is going to have a 80 free-for-all battle royale as a tournament? How many episodes you think we'll get out of it?

Also, thanks for running, Som. Do you ever run a show or something on the side whenever you wait for anons to post replies/discussion?

>>
>>1249126
Bad shit happened when they took in a ruthless Saiyan warrior in canon, so the least we could do is see it coming in our quest.
>>
>>1249120
So how much does Turles even know about us and the others, does he have spy tech like Gero or does he only know about the strength levels?
>>
>>1249134
He knows power, that's about it
>>
>>1249120

What shows do you watch? I need some new series to add to my to-watch list. So far I've been watching The Flash, and occasionally Burn Notice.

I also plan to add Parks and Rec & Community to that watchlist.
>>
>>1249218
Usually watch Dragonball when I'm running that, and Yu Yu Hakusho when I'm running Spirit Detective
>>
>>1249218
Burn notice was hype, sad It's over.

>>
>>1248587

>>
>>1249246
Does it help you get into the mindset of what you're writing then? Do you pic out relevant episodes and watch them or just watch it down the line in the series and watch whatever's next?

>>1249508
So you grew up with the cartoon show, but clearly never watched other.

It's a drama about a well meaning psychopath that explores concepts of morality and the law, and the darker aspects and management of the human psyche. But I'm sure labeling something you haven't seen as /r/edgy works fine for you, who cares about being accurate right anon? I bet you thought it edgy from the blood splatter on the logo and left it at that right?

In short, i shouldn't bother to argue but dammit, no one is gonna say something to upset me on MY internet, that just won't do. I have my PHD in being an SJW trigger warrior.

As the monsters close in, you thrust your arms out to either side, unleashing your energy from your body in a powerful, explosive burst that reduces your attackers to ashes.

A few of the others turn to run away, either attempting to escape the scene, or seeking new prey. However, many more continue to surround you, preparing for another round. These damned monsters are relentless, and while you can handle them fairly easily, a lot of the others aren't so luck.

Chi-Chi and Krillin are battling side-by-side, neither one looking to be in particularly good shape. The red aura of the Kaio-Ken surrounds Chi-Chi, whose clothes are torn in several places, and has a nasty-looking cut on her arm. Krillin looks to have a scorch-mark or two, but is otherwise alright, though you can feel his energy starting to drop.

You spot Yamcha rushing into a swarm of the creatures, using his Wolf Fang Fist to pummel a few, then wiping out several more with a Kamehameha Wave. He hasn't resorted to the Kaio-Ken just yet, but given the powers you're sensing among the alien army, you're sure he'll be pushed to that point before long.

Kori and Konattsu's energies are slowly getting further away, presumably as they help the non-fighters get out of the area.

Jaco hops from building to building, closely pursued by a small group of the monsters, who he occasionally shoots at with some sort of beam gun. He actually does manage to take one down before another tackles him off the side of a building.

Tenshinhan and Chaozu, however, seem to be doing just fine. Both use their great speed and strength to fend off their foes, with Tenshinhan actually spiking one of the creatures like a volleyball, sending it slamming down on top of a pair of its companions.

Chaozu fires a seemingly endless barrage of Dodon Rays, killing monsters by the second. And, on occasion, he uses his psychic abilities to throw a car or something at the creatures.

With a howl, another group of the monsters come rushing in toward you.

As the creatures come charging, you decide to give them a taste of the Eight-Armed technique of King Chappa. Unfortunately for you, you don't move fast enough, and are quickly grabbed by the Saibaman in front of you, who locks your arms at your sides as he wraps his arms and legs around your back, holding you tight with no sign of letting go.

The other attackers follow suit, and you find yourself covered in the creatures, who chuckle lowly to themselves.

Unsure of what these monsters are doing, but knowing that you probably don't want to waste time prying them off of you, you once more release your energy in a great burst, incinerating the monsters that were clinging to your body in a brilliant flash of light.

Taking a moment to catch your breath, you survey the situation. Tenshinhan and Chaozu are still going strong, but Yamcha's been forced to use the Kaio-Ken. Chi-Chi is down on one knee, looking to be in a great deal of pain as her not-battered husband struggles to keep the other creatures at bay. You don't see any sign of Jaco.

"KAMEHAMEHA!" Krillin yells at the top of his lungs, blowing back a trio of the creatures.

Chi-Chi manages to create a Kienzan and slices one of the creatures in half as it attempts to attack Krillin from behind. However, after doing this, she looks to be in even worse condition.

Yamcha kicks one of the creatures through a building, sending it into a deadly collision with the ground as it bursts through the other side. One of the monsters strikes during his moment of distraction, giving your friend a kick to the face that throws him back.

A swarm of the creatures rush in to attack Yamcha in his disoriented state.

As the creatures dive after Yamcha, you fire a barrage of energy attacks up at them, killing them long before they can reach your friend. Yamcha manages to stop his descent, and creates a Spirit Ball, which he then unleashes upon the creatures.

With Yamcha alright for the moment, you rush over to Krillin and Chi-Chi, kicking a creature that was about to launch acid from its head at Chi-Chi skyward.

Things aren't looking good, and you see little hope of everyone making it if you don't get out of here now. You call for a retreat.

"Heh, I'm not sure that's an option, buddy," Krillin tells you with grim amusement. "I'm too banged up to go anywhere fast. But, if you could take Chi-"

"Forget it, mister!" Chi-Chi snaps at her husband. "I won't leave you!"

"Kuma-Ken!" you shout, feeling your energy flare as a green aura surrounds your body.

Your speed increases, allowing you to evade the various blasts the monsters send your way and gain some serious distance. Still, things don't seem to be over, as the monsters continue to give chase, clearly not content with letting you and your friends simply escape from them.

"Dark Nimbus!" you call, the cloud soon appearing in front of you.

As the monsters close in, you place Krillin and Chi-Chi on top of the Nimbus, instructing it to get them to Korin, who will hopefully have some Senzu Beans waiting for them.

The cloud zips off, and you turn around, dozens more of the creatures rushing for you.

With the power of the Kuma-Ken, you're several leagues beyond these monsters. They're nothing but pests to you now, and you deal with them accordingly.

Thrusting your hands toward the incoming creatures, you fire a quick barrage of energy attacks that annihilates them all before even one can come close enough to strike you.

Krillin and Chi-Chi should be safe, but you aren't sure about Yamcha. Hopefully, Tenshinhan and Chaozu are keeping an eye on him.

In any case, it's time for you to go clean up. At least, that's the plan before you hear a familiar voice in your mind.

"Hey, Tofoo!" the voice greets. "It's King Kai, and oh boy, do I have some serious bad news."

"Great," you grumble. "I'm listening."

"Something terrible has taken root on your world," King Kai explains to you. "An unbelievable power that will leave the Earth a lifeless wasteland if it is not stopped."

This just keeps getting better and better.

"It is called the Tree of Might," King Kai explains. "Someone has planted it on Earth."

"I think I know who," you comment. "What does this tree do?"

"The tree produces a mystical fruit, which grants whomever eats it extraordinary powers," King Kai explains. "The fruit is only supposed to be eaten by the gods, so I have no clue how someone else got their hands on it. Anyway, the tree grows to full size and produces this fruit by draining the energy from the planet on which it's planted. The tree seems to already have begun its growth on Earth, so it won't be long before the Earth is robbed of all life."

"I don't suppose Goky's going to show up and help," you say to him.

"Sorry, but he's a long way from Earth," King Kai tells you. "This one's all on you, buddy."

"I'll handle it," you vow, taking a moment to sense for other strong energies.

Sure enough, you sense another half-dozen such powers somewhere far from the city, telling you that your enemies probably sent this army of monsters to keep you and your friends distracted while the tree was planted. If a Saiyan really is running this operation, he's being more cautious than the others you've fought.

He might be far more dangerous than even Vegeta.

You'll have to deal with that later, though. For now, you need to get back and help the others. With the Kuma-Ken enhancing your speed, it's a short flight, and you're relieved to see that the number of monsters has been greatly decreased.

Still, Yamcha's looking pretty rough, and even Tenshinhan and Chaozu are beginning to look tired. They could probably use some help.

Rushing into the fray, you help deal with the remaining monsters, though with more injuries than you would have liked.

Yamcha seems to be in no condition to go anywhere, but Tenshinhan and Chaozu might be able to help.

It looks like it will be up to the three of you to destroy the Tree of Might.

Thanks for running Som! Always appreciate when you run, I need to catch up on your spirit detective I read the first thread but I wanted to watch yu yu Hakusho before I kept reading I only got up to the tourney arc in the show when I was a kid.

Two questions:

1. Can we suplex the Tree of Might?

2. Any chance of finding a shield and us riding down the tree on it and shooting arrows/energy blasts?

>>1257689
Well, you were talking about Goku doppelgangers.

Are you going to follow the manga or anime of Super, if we get there? What about the problem that Tofoo will be going hard on forty when Super hits? Which Arcs will you skip if you follow the anime? If you do Potafo, I'll rent a truck and run you down in it.
>>
>>1257713
Why not both?

We'll see what happens with Tofoo

If I want to do Potafo, I will
>>
>>1257730
>Why not both?
Because the manga changes a bunch of stuff for the better, and leaves out a lot of the shakier stuff.

>If I want to do Potafo, I will
I will convert to Islam for you SOM.
>>
>>1257747
The manga did some things better, the anime did some things better, I'll mix and match

Pls don't

If Mutaito's alive, best to get an energy refill off him before rushing off to the tree.

I wonder where Big Green is delivering his dose right now.

So. We got Tofoo, Kori, Tien, Chiaotzu, and Piccolo in combat-capable condition.
Seems doable.

I'm just a bit worried that when the inevitable Black Water Mist saga happens, whoever's ransacking the lookout will release Lord Slug.
>>
>>1257713
We're going to change to trunks POV after the cell saga, after all, tofoo isn't a fighting autist who believes that only he can be the strongest like goku , besides, he's going to retire and leave the master of ki stuff to us, after all, he is human so he's not going to be in his fighting prime forever, humans peak physically at 25-30 years old.
>>
>>1257816
hey SOM, Mutate said we were close to figuring out Shen's energy block technique before we gained a better understanding of our ki.

DC to figure it out and use it on Turtles?

>>1256915
just the one fruit. i mean, we apparently arent pure enough to spirit bomb things...

speaking of the spirit bomb...
any chance we could learn the accumulation technique and use a low version of it to continuously absorb ki from the planet in order to slowly increase our power? sort of like the old special breathing excersice idea.
>>
>>1258295
master roshi shin and mutaito are all prime examples of old geezers who kick ass.

plus if we decide to be kami I think we get to live longer.
>>
>>1258564
Yes they kick ass, but they do so because of technique, experience, and mastery of chi, physically they are unimpressive and they would be so much stronger if they were still in their prime instead of in their 300 s.
Also both shen and roshi drank from the fountain of youth, so they're not exactly prime example of what ordinary oldhumans are capable of.
