Also have our feudal forces arm themselves, assemble at the closest town and remain vigilant.
At last, inform the Grandmaster of the Knights of Juras of what we know of the situation and make sure the Chapter Houses are well stocked and ready to deal with any potential refugees. That is after all what the 8th rule of the Code dictates in the case of a civil war."

The month of Stomnis saw a civil war ready to blow up, yet without any bloodshed(save for the suicide of Milliam Yalmfrid after his imprisonment, an illusion image of it planted on the wall by him), the Empress managed to defuse the situation and prevent it from erupting.
In several places across Roggar forces were being mobilized and mercenaries were being hired - the Queen called for the Royal Army to take positions in Dragonstomb and called Dragoncommander Numeria Salvian and Duke Milliam Yalmfrid, Steward of the Knights of Juras, to come to her Imperial Court - on the 13th they arrived. Numeria swore alliegance and revealed a plot against the Empress, while Milliam and his companion were apprehended when they tried to cast some magic and move quickly. Afterwards, the Royal Admiral was dismissed, though for several days he refused to resign, trying to gather support among the navy for himself against his deputy, who was now Admiral - unsuccessfuly so.
The Commander of the Kingsguard, Iperan of the Ke-Lo Windriders, was arrested, imprisoned and replaced in his position on the 25th of Stomnis. Barnaby Hawthorne, admitting to have been a leader in the conspiracy, resigned from his position as Royal Cartographer before the Empress. Duke Marcus Whitevayne was appointed to Cartographer by the Empress soon thereafter, while Nothos Andarak was given the position of Royal Admiral back.

A potential factor in the civil war not erupting was the fact that on the 15th of Stomnis news came by way of the Eternian portal that Rhoznax has invaded Kamborash.

By the Empress' orders, no war shall be declared on Rhoznax at the present moment, but support shall be given to Kamborash, while defences will be ready for an attack on us from any front.

Those factions who partook in the conspiracy against the Empress must send their forces to fight in Kamborash. Those who wish to help may also do so with their forces.
If you are in either of those categories, please list the support you'll be giving to Kamborash. You'll be transporting it by way of the Portal in Iron Hall, as sea lanes will be blocked.

In Flamkor the daring Ash Guard patrols the wilderness, ever hunting for the raiding parties of tribal warlords and bands of cannibals.
A much reduced community of ke-lo windriders (only 40% remaining) and a hardy Eternian village with enough guns to start a small war are both settling in “reasonably comfortably” in the wilderness. A party of unfortunate virists and some settlers from the rangers were attacked and carried off by cannibals under the leadership of the notorious warlord Longknife. More virists made the journey and by intense toil managed to establish a small community (although the majority died from ashpoisoning or resettled to the mining settlements). This village later found itself reinforced by a band of rugged divatans, having suffered much from repeated attacks by the earlier mentioned Longknife.

Hearing the tales of their struggling kin and how the fiend Longknife harrased innocent settlers, the people of Divatagrad decided to take action.
The divatans assembled 1'420 troops in Divatagrad. These feudal levies and zealots were placed under the command of a brave man known as Barius and made the long trek to Flamkor.
There Barius secured himself the assistance of the Ash Guard, Councilotory feudal horsemen and a number of armed settlers, primarily Eternians. Having nearly 2000 troops under his command he advanced upon the warlord of the wasteland.
Longknife, barely mustering 500 tribesmen of inferior quality stood little chance. His scouts were hunted down and speared by Roggarian horsemen and his host was carved apart by the charge of the divatan zealots.
Pursued into his mountain hideout, the barbarian chieftain begged the divatans for mercy for him and his people. Barius accepted their surrender and had them taken away to spend the rest of their days in the mines. What little loot was found (a few chests of gold, some jewelry, embroidered cloth and a gorgeously decorated Rhosnaxi chariot) was brought back to Divatagrad. A small number of settlers were freed from the dungeons and returned to their families.
Hearing tales of Barius and his daring, Councilor Fish ordered that all his expenses on this expedition were to be paid from the Treasury of Trusted Defense and that Barius himself was to be granted the title of Honorary Councilor. Furthermore Divatagrad were given prority on buying flamkorian sulphur and a discount on paper.

Life in Flamkor, adventure and excitement for all!

A brave caravan of halfling settlers made the journey to Flamkor in the month of Stomnis. Upon arriving in their alloted area they were struck by an intense ashstorm that killed all their livestock and wrecked most of their equipment. Many of them gave up and returned to Roggar that very day. Yet the survivors struggled on and managed to get a small village running, surviving by a thread on meagre crops of barley and turnips.
Ten brave dwarven settler also made the journey to flamkor. Struggling against storms, bandits and diseases, they laboured for months without managing to establish a village. In the end the 5 starved survivors made the journey to the mining town and found employment there.
A small band of dwarven miners made the journey to flamkor, cashing in on the promise of free plots of land for anyone willing to brave the wilderness. Upon exploring the wilderness they found an old ruined fortress, belongging the the recently deceased warlord Longknife. They made the castle theirs, brought in their families and established a reasonably prosperous and well fortified village.
A single erdini cityboi, dreaming of a new start, also made the journey. Upon arriving in flamkor he was accosted by a band of aggresive Eternian who shot him and stole all his stuff. His body was dumped in a ditch and the killing was blamed on roaming orcs.
Some relatives of the dead man, desiring revenge, purchased supplies, weapons and horses and made the journey. They eventually managed to find out who murdered their kinsman but in the resulting skirmish with the Eternians they drew the short straw. The dead were quietly burried in a mass grave and the few captives were sold off as slaves to a minotaur merchant.
Ludolf of Erden hired a band of 200 mercenaries from the local Orcish Ashface clan, paying them good money to hunt down and slay the slaver merchants who had kidnapped their kin. Unfortunately, after taking his money, they turned on him and joined forces with the minotaur slavers. The merchant became the feared warlord Bullhorn, now commanding a small army and a profitable slavery racket.
Another brave expedition of virists made the long trek to flamkor, dreaming of land of their own. Upon arriving they were ambushed and placed in chains by the brutal warlord Bullhorn and his orcish mercenaries.
A band of rangers, tasked by their maste to hunt down the slavers attempted to pursue them but were outmanouvered and got lost in the wilderness. After a week of suffering in the wasteland they came upon a small castle where a group of chained dwarves, erdini lads and virists were busy restoring the ancient fortress for their brutal minotaur overlord. Requesting assistance, they were joined by a warparty dispatched by the Dragoncommander himself. Together they routed the warband of Bullhorn from the field and placed his fortress under siege.

After a month of siegecraft, they were joined by a small band of akeshizu samurai led by Satoshi Andarak and 16 FUCKING THOUSAND erdini feudal troops under the leadership of general Nomin. The fortress was quickly reduced to rubble, Bullhorn executed and the few remaining captives freed.
The erdini feudal troops, rangers and citadellians then all returned to Roggar, content that their duty had been done. The survivors of the dwarves, virists and erdinis joined together to create a small village in the ruins of the castle.

Satoshi Andarak and his band of Akeshizu quickly came to the conclusion that growing the soil themselves were beneath their dignity. Instead relying upon their deadly swords, they quickly established themselves as a feared force in the lawless wilderness, extracting tribute from many of the local settler villages and local tribesmen. They established a walled settlement to the north of mount Flamkor where they now reside with their wifes paid in tribute by the locals. Warlord Andarak is now a force to be reckoned with in the area, his strenght drawing the hostility of both the Eternian village, other warlords and the Councilors attempting to spread their control in the entire region.

Rolled 367 (1d777)

Greatswords reaching around 160cm have been developed - you'd have to be well over seven, probably more than eight feet tall to use one of these with one hand and even then it would be difficult - these are definately two-handed sword. Aside from them a variety of polearms are available, including ones developed to be able to deal with armor - in particular popularity now is the poleaxe, which can cut, pierce and smash. Large axes and hammers are also available.

Kamborash has pushed the Rhoznaxi out and has almost taken Savrexis.
Otherwise, nothing out of the ordinary happened. Some people thought the year 777 arriving would mean something special, but in the grand scheme of things it doesn't look like it. Zhongi fortune-tellers say it'll be a bad year for marriages though.

The Goldhouse company will donate a ship for the Expedition
>>
Expedition, then!
We should settle a few things first
What kinds of ships should we send? Caravels are the best for exploration, but we only have one right now. Carracks can carry a lot, but aren't as fast and aren't good for shallow waters. The Superboat is a large, luxurious ship with no cannons.

Secondly, we should decide on what direction exactly to sail in - consult the Overview map in the OP
>>
>>1329023
Bring the Superboat, the Caravel, and enough Carracks to carry all our supplies.

We should sail directly west making a pit stop in the Kingdom of Selaven to Restock and then sail West.
>>
>>1329023
My vote is for just taking the single caravel, well stocked with supplies and our most able sailors.

The winds and tides took us somewhat off-course, further north-northwest. On the 15th of Stomnis we found another island - in the afternoon we landed on its shore. It looks to be of a decent size, comparable to one of the Godsjaw islands in both landmass and climate. Seagulls fly above us.

After a day of survey, we haven't found any intelligent life around. Much of this southern part of the island seems to be covered in forests. We found a river estuary and were able to partially trace it to the beginning of some hills and what could be a small mountain beyond them.
There's fish in the waters, some of it unknown to us. The forest has some small animals, including something one of the sailors recognized as a beaver, though a different breed from the one found in parts of Anglanorse.

In the year 777, a most tragic accident occurred.
During a routine diplomatic meeting in Gobbopolis the Trusted Councilor was the unfortunate victim of a case of mistaken identity and found himself in Duke Swift-hands' kitchen. During the following banquet the Empress was served a most delicious meal of roasted Trusted Carp with Sauted mushrooms paired with a vintage Lueceric wine. While she complemented the chef for his exquisite skill the delegation of the Trusted's left in a rather sour mood.
Back at Trusted Defense they all agreed to never speak of Councilor Fish again. Then they got down to electing a new leader for their order:

1. Some saint who honestly believes in virtue and morality, hates violence
2. A dick, morals are for the weak & peasants
3. More forward thinking, reformist
4. Strict and conservative
5. Former soldier who joined the Councilors, as much a soldier as a scholar
6. Corrupt weakling, only there due to nepotism
7. Councilor Kittelsen
8. Radical reformist
9. “The way of the sages is a philosophy of peace. Death to all who say otherwise!”
10 Councilor Vanders. A pacifist that preaches love, tolerance and poverty relief
11 Councilor Godric
12 Councilor Chong. The wonderchild.
13 Another from the line of Commodus
14 Councilor Zhang. Rumored sorceror.
15 Councilor Drunf. A former merchant and the richest man in Freehold. Beloved by the people for his no-nonsense talk and charisma.

The will of the Assembly is clear. Councilor Zhang shall lead them into prosperity and a future where no fish hold institutional power over humans.
Beloved by the conservatives for his stances on social issues and womens rights, yet applauded as a daring reformer by the moderates when it comes to politics, religion and magic.
The only criticism raised is his appointment of close relatives to positions of power and his lack of strickness when it comes to persecuting religious heterodoxy.

Councilor Fazhan's maidservant, Xiao Mei, managed to make it back to camp as we were making preparations to leave.
She's a bit bruised, covered in dirt and mud, but otherwise fine physically. She says that the party that went west, into the large forest, was spooked by the discovery of large footsteps and broken trees. Kelius freaked out and killed one of the Whitevayne gunners before running off. The party was then attacked by some large creatures that she describes rather vaguely - furry, about twice her height with horns and tusks and sharp claws, having no clothes, weapons or tools on them.
As the creatures were about to descend upon them she felt light-headed and fainted, later waking up alone, managing to find her way back to the camp.

It's the 22nd, around noon, at this point the amount of supplies we have are about what's needed to make it back to Selaven, but it seems land's been spotted again.
Well, it doesn't look like the most hospitable of places. It's a small volcanic island, almost nothing beyond the fiery mountain itself. The sparse vegetation we can see from here indicates the last eruption was most likely not long ago - an active volcano, some sailors say.

The Gunnarsson Clan has recently been granted permission to make the official flags of the kingdom of Roggar under Empress Wave. This will be the first proper industry for the island of Gotegisol and a steady source of income for the Gunnarsson family. The newly invented Spinning Wheels will be employed to keep the production effective. This project is aided by the Hawtornes with their textile knowledge.

All ships and armies will get these flags to be used as banners in the coming years (muh profits), the enemies of Roggar will come to fear this symbol of our might. Long live Roggar!

North of the river you found the ruins of a bigger settlement - this must have been a trade port of at least moderate size. A stone road leads inlands from it.
>>1333087
>>1333092
At the ruins to the south you found that the earth had been torn asunder in an earthquake, no house is left standing more than a few feet above the ground. One thing of not you found was a marble statue, the face defaced, but the body depicting a female humanoid upper part and fish-like lower part. What's odd is the only bodily remains in the ruins were of small animals, recently deceased - no skeletons of the time when this place was inhabited.
Dirt roads lead south and west.
>>1333089
>>1333101
When the elf tried to use his magic to levitate over the water he could only keep the spell up for several seconds before falling down - the others managed to save him from drowning.
Indeed, all magic practicioners have noticed their spells failing, their mana being exhausted - odd occurences.
After that spatial failure, journeying further upriver on the southern side eventually led to the ruins of a settlement and what must have once been a bridge - on the other side of the river they could faintly see buildings with smoke lightly coming out of some - a surviving settlement, perhaps? They went back to camp.

The sailors from the ship manage to save Kelius, who frantically jumped and half-swam, half-propelled himself with what magic he could towards the caravel - he found himself missing his left leg somehow once he made it to relative safety. We decided to pack our things and get out of here as quickly as possible. The winds and tides were not harsh to us, but we didn't find any of our brethren surviving on the island of Gambia. We made it back to Selaven by the end of the mont, in Charodis our caravel made it to Dragonstomb.

A session of the House of Lords is called in our capital, information gained on this expedition should be presented and discussed.
I'll be back some time later this week, possibly tomorrow, will say on discord/twitter or here.

Hear ye, hear ye!
Announcement from the Master of Law!

The head of the Yalmfrids, one of our previously beloved noble families, has carried out a most heinous criminal act!
A loan of absurd proportions taken in shadowy backroom dealings, then a cowardly escape to foreign lands. The chivalrous Knights of Juras left as the innocent victims of this backstabber and opportunistic merchants.
According to reliable sources the spineless thief is now wasting away in degeneracy and relentless pursuit of sodomy. The fires of hell surely await him!
His entire kin accompanied him in his escape. The elaborate secrecy surrounding this exodus is taken as evidence of them all being complicit in the crime.

The Yalmfrids are hereby decleared OUTLAWED en masse. They no longer hold any legal rights whatsoever and no man shall be punished for any action taken towards them.
Only by willingly surrendering himself to the Master of Law can the head of the Yalmfrids ever lift this curse.

Furthermore, there shall be placed a bounty on the heads of these heinous criminals. Any who wishes to pursue this are encouraged to contact Trusted defense for further information.

“It has come to my attention that there's been a rather tricky(and annoying) legal debate between Trusted Defense and Gobbopolis regarding money(of course, what else).
While the precise details are rather sketchy, it appears a banker named Goldhill made a verbal agreement with a man named Yalmfrid for a small loan of 20'000 dragonmarks at a 7% interest in the year 774.
Then this Yalmfrid dissapeared from the face of the earth, and this banker sold this humongous debt to the Duke of Gobbopolis for a rather triffling amount(desu, the banker deserved what he got over this stupidity).
Then a legal dispute followed between the Councilors and Duke Swift-hands over this gold, the latter demanding that the former become their vassals due to their connection with the Yalmfrid family(because a Holy Order of Knights are responsible for a man who forsaken his knighthood and duties, the traitor).
As the Royal Steward, I took it upon myself to investigate the issue closer, and I found that this entire transaction reportedly began solely on a verbal promise between this Yalmfrid and this Goldhill, making them the sole witnesses(the madmen, doing this after being kicked from a bar).
Yalmfrid is nowhere to be found and neither is Goldhill, no traces whatsoever remaining of either of them. Furthermore, it appears that Goldhill's close kin, associates and documents have also gone entirely missing. This entire affair reeks off being a scam(among other things...).
At last, as Trusted Councilor Zhang have informed me that the issue is now settled, the Duke of Gobbopolis withdrawing all demands in return for legal and moral assistance regarding certain... recent incidents, I see no problem with bringing this entire matter to an end and declare the etire debt void."

"Oh, and the criminal Yalmfrid and his family are wanted for fraud and other insidious criminal activities."

We are able to produce stained glass and build both larger, more durable and most of all - more impressive and well-decorated structures(architectural styles available include Gothic and Renaissance now).
In late 778 four of the 52 members of the second expedition to Gambia were rescued along with Marcus Whitevayne, Councilor Fazhan and their parties, having discovered a wonderous island filled with many mysteries.
In Kamborash the war continues - while the orcs still hold more lands than they did at the beginning, Rhoznax far outnumbers them in manpower and resources and the Kambori are now beginning to lose ground after several very bloody battles in their eastern border.

We're sponsoring the NSA now, the institution that will fight against corruption in Roggar.
After years of fighting and many bloody battles between the two nations, Kamborash and Rhoznax have signed a white peace, returning to the status quo before the war. Roughly half the soldiers from Roggar that fought as 'mercenaries' in Kamborash returned alive, having gained a lot of experience.

Year 780!

You've created a "gobpit" - a seat on/in the golem where a golemancer can sit down and assume direct control efficiently. The issue with the way the gobpit works right now is one of visibility. If it's inside the golem there's the issue of air getting in and the visibility being extremely limited. If it's on top of the golem the golemancer - in this case "pilot" - can be killed. Glass through which the pilot can see is vulnerable to anything with enough power to break it and it would only further endanger the pilot. Magical defences for the gobpit are an option, but make the model more expensive and harder to maintain. Still, it's a breakthrough in Roggarian golemancy!

Faction Action

A BIG project is undertaken by the War Loggers on Brygarda Island.

Using the (expanded) ports at Thornebush, which the War Loggers had helped to build several decades ago, ships are commissioned to very in barges and loads of stones, bricks, and mortar across the sea. Over 10 years ships are sent back and forth to Brygarda to lay the stones along the coast, and hammer great logs as piers and pillars around the nearby ocean.

The plan is, while "Gambia" is currently an area of diplomatic intrigue, Brygarda Island can serve as a stepping-port to aid in construction on Gambia in the future, as well as a lighthouse.

A stone foundation is laid for some buildings, as well as large wooden piers and floors build around the island, expanding it greatly and allowing it to serve as a dock for larger ships. Up above in the tall peak the Lighthouse is under construction as well.

Many goblins and much mercury is spent over the last 10 years to perform this project, to build the expansions around Brygarda and its Light House to guide ships on their way to the New World.

Looking back through the innovations of my forefathers, these 'carriageplanks' stand out as something of an underutilised oddity. There is a disappointing lack of sales in regards to them except amongst Roggarian youth, who should in all honesty be working rather than toying with such things - but I suppose coin is coin. Regardless, I am of the belief that using these products to increase the speed of my guard will be beneficial to the Lectre name; I will be ensuring Graham sets a collection of men to train in the use of crossbows while travelling on a carriageplank. Hmm... let us call them Wasps, eh? Seems like a fitting name. They can sting any unruly workers they find for me, ahah.

Now, my job as Royal Diplomat. It offends me on a personal level when I see large tracts of lands going unused, thus, the centaur steppes seem to be something of an abomination. As such, I would like to contact a number of tribes (most notably the one sat south of Chesapeake at the moment) and see if we can come to an... agreement... about building rights in exchange for funding and assistance for infrastructure connecting our two kingdoms.

Carrot and stick approach, of course. Graham - fetch me my Dragonstomper, and round up the negotiator crossbowmen. We have work to do.

Steelfang Blacksmith Guild :
A guild of blacksmith formed by a man named Joachim Johnson, a son of a noble. He is as much of a scholar as he is a blacksmith, which is a baffling profession to take considering his background. Joachim has much interest in war, mainly the tools which war are waged with. He envisioned war with soldiers falling even before reaching the center of the battlefield. A war waged from a great distance without the need of charging with swords and spears. However, creating the guild was the last straw and Joachim's family disowned him as to not further dishonor themself. The guild's weapon research cannot go on without funding, but luckily, the Ducy of Vaesgyolis extended their hands to help thses young visionaries to fulfill their ambition. Now Joachim is tasked to lead his fellow colleagues in improving the empire's current weaponry and ruling as mayor of Vaesdeman under Vaesgyolis.

Seeing as how the Island was no longer a viability, Count Trench Digger proceeds with his next project.

Tales wide and far are often heard of a permutation of the more familiar Golemancy magic.

Brooms, which sweep the floor by themselves.
Pots and dishes which move to wash themselves.
Pens that write as if being held by an invisible hand.

This "Animation" magic seems to be an offshoot of Golemancy, and it is this new form of magic that the Count hires the best mages he could buy to investigate this and study the matter.

Why waste precious coin on things merely looking pretty? We don't need to change the cathedral - if I had my way, the damnable thing would be a workshop by now. Gregariapol is currently not in need of any alterations, it hasn't been so much as looked at by a military force in many a year. And roads? Please. The lords of the realm are all aware of the importance of roads, but what we have at the moment is more than servicable. If anything, we merely need to add patrols to keep them clear of any undesirables, not throw money into changing out the stones or what have you.

Politics have no baring on the Royal Army, friend. You allow even one of then to do this without punishment then they all will. And if everyone does it, then who will protect Roggar?

The squabbles of nobles don't seem to concern the common folk too much. The climate has stabilised, population is rising at steady rates, the economy is doing well, the Empire is at peace and the people are happy. Theater plays are popular among the peasantry, burgeoise and nobility alike.

We should properly invest in the survey of our Ezirin territories and properly rebuild any destroyed mines there, finding any mineral exploits that have been forgotten since the Great War.

Massive earthquakes are felt across Roggar, but in particular in the Godriclands, around the Coalenchasm, the Great Nest Volcano, the Booty Bay area and further beyond - not just any old earthquakes - the biggest in generations, they threaten to shatter the very earth soon as the devastation they cause is promising to be monumental.
