First thread http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/qstarchive/1305652/

Ok so your navi is possessed. First order of business panic. What am I going to do? What am I going to do? What am I going to do?! Is he in pain? Can he infect other navis? Should I delete him? No your a repairman you have to fix him, but you can't do it on your own. Ok think what are your options? I could go to another repair shop. No they probably wouldn't know any more than I do. I need to think bigger. SciLab could help. Would they really see me though? Wait Meera, she has connections there. Your PET is out in a second. You bring up contacts and call Meera immediately.

"Help my navi is possessed" you say as fast as you can.

"What" is her only reply disbelief thick in her voice.

"I went to the bulletin board to speak to him and he said help me I'm fading and then he just slumped over and turned off"

"Ok calm down we can fix this. Be at my place in twenty minutes" she says and hangs up.

You take a few deep breaths to cool yourself off before you get in to your van and head over. When you get there Meera is already outside. You step out of your van and in to her car as you both make your journey to SciLab.

"Don't worry I have a friend who can take care of everything" she tries to assure you while keeping her eyes on the road.

The trip is a short one and soon you find yourself in the waiting room of SciLab. The wait is grueling, but eventually you're called back. When you arrive at your destination you see a man with combed black hair and green eyes partially obscured by goggles (why he'd need them in a computer lab is anyone's guess) dressed in a lab coat.

"Hi I'm Sam Wilkins what seems to be the problem" he asks.

"My navi is infected by a virus or it is a virus or something. I don't know what it is anymore.

"Really" he says seemingly more excited than concerned. He quickly turns around and takes you to a large computer in the back.

"We'll run the diagnostics here"

You jack in MetMan and see him immediately begin pacing and looking uncomfortable. It takes you a second to realize why as you see a big chair with many straps attached to it.

"Please direct your navi to sit in the chair" Sam instructs.

Despite his obvious discomfort MetMan complies when you as him to go to the chair and he is immediately strapped in by some unseen force.

"Ok beginning the diagnostic" Sam says as MetMan gets engulfed in a bight green light. The screen in front of you fills up with all kinds of data that means absolutely nothing to you. Meanwhile Sam seems to be drinking it up. "Fascinating your navi seems to be mostly made up of the same material viruses are. However there does seem to still be faint traces of the navi he was before. If I could strengthen those fragments I believe we might be able to hold a conversation with him." Sam begins tapping on his keyboard furiously and before long you begin to hear a noise emanating from MetMan. At first it comes in as a garbled mess but eventually you can begin to make out words.

"Help me. Help me" he says seemingly unaware of your presence.

"Hello MetMan can you hear me? I'm right here buddy" you say trying your best to sound comforting.

"Ian is that you? You can hear me" MetMan says excitement emanating from his voice.

You say the first thing that comes to your mind "Are you all right"

"Yeah I'm good for right now. For the first time in a while I have room to think. The viruses they don't think anything, they don't say anything, but they take up so much room."

"What happened to you? How did you become like this" you ask.

"On your 21st birthday you got wasted and challenged Sarah and Meera again. Two back to back losses as usual. You tried not to let it get you down, but I could see it was getting to you. On the way home it was all I could think about. You were going in to business soon and here I was a week little factory standard navi holding you back. You were so kind I knew you'd never get rid of me so I had to get stronger. When we got home you jacked me in to let me roam as usual and went straight to bed. I decided to check all the bulletins I could find on ways to get stronger. Nothing showed up until I went to this one home page in an area I didn't recognize. As I went to go read the bulletin I found myself surrounded by Mettuars. I fought them off as best I could but, they just kept coming. Eventually when I was on my last legs they all stopped. Right before my eyes they all began to vanish in to code. At first I was relieved, but as more and more began to vanish a cloud of code began to form. I would have run away if I could but, I was too weak. It lashed out at me and ever since I've been fading in and out."

"Interesting a standard navi getting overwhelmed by virus code. I think I have a theory" interjects Sam "Tell me have you gotten stronger recently"

"We've gotten some chips and a few hp ups, but that's about it" you say.

"I think this resurgence in his old personality, the message for help, has to do with those upgrades. As he is right now the viruses overwhelm him, but as he gets stronger as a navi his personality should reawaken and exert dominance over the viruses."

"Why are you saying should reawaken he's talking to us right now"

"That is only temporary I'm afraid. as part of this diagnostic I've strengthened his navi code, but that is only temporary. You need to strengthen him yourself with upgrades and new programs if you want to see him return fully. I do have some upgrades available if you want to take a look or you could simply spare yourself and him the trouble and delete him. The choice is yours"

"Well this is about all I can do for now. Please feel free to come back if you want to make any purchases or want MetMan examined again" Sam says clearly dismissing you.

The drive back is a long silent one. You can't help but worry for MetMan. He hasn't said a word since you left or really done anything other then his usual routine of standing still and staring. You wonder how much of him is really left in there. You decide to email Sarah and let her know to meet you at the usual hangout. You need more minds to bounce ideas off of after all. In a little bit you find you, Sarah and Meera all gathered around your usual hangout.

"Are there any other ways to get stronger" you ask.

"Well there is the DenCity Tournament next month. First prize is supposed to be some experimental new program that could really toughen up your navi" Meera says.

"You could also try and find the legendary Sci Toaster" adds Sarah.

"The Sci Toaster" you say disbelief hanging in your voice.

"Yeah its a toaster that belonged to SciLab for ten whole years. Nothing has been on the SciLab network for that long. Just imagine all the top secret experiments it has seen. Sure none of them were done to the toaster itself, but data has its way of getting around a network. That toaster has to have its share of power ups. Now be careful though it is a little dangerous"

"More than a little. Jacking in to that toaster is a death sentence. Sure its seen lots of experiments but, many of those experiments were on viruses. Even the deepest reaches of the undernet aren't that dangerous" Meera says.

"Well the tournament is a month away and the toaster sounds way out of my league. Lets put those down as long term goals. I need something I can do right now" you say.

"Tell you what if you can beat me in a net battle I'll give you a 20hp right now" says Sarah

"Maybe there is something left where MetMan was originally attacked. We should probably investigate there. After all viruses and loose programs go hand in hand." says Meera

You decide to investigate the spot that MetMan was attacked. You and your friends jack in and head toward the spot MetMan mentioned. You aren't exactly clear where it is since he didn't exactly tell you, but fortunately MetMan is able to lead you there on his own. When you enter the page everything darkens. You quickly notice a group of punk looking navis are standing in a circle around a normal navi. The navi in the middle appears scared and you can see why. The punk navis begin chanting and which seem to attract Swordy viruses. You don't know whats going on here, but you only have seconds to react.

"The ritual must be completed. Stall him" Says one of the other punk navis.

"Gladly" the first punk navi replies as he initiates combat. To your surprise two Swordy join him and combat begins.

You tag the the navi with a copy damage and open up on the closer Swordy with a Machinegun1. The Swordy is chewed up quickly, but manages to hold on just long enough to get a shot in on you. Still it does goes down just in time for the second Swordy to come at you with a swipe of its own. Fortunately you manage to dodge and return fire with another Machinegun1 and manage to hit him twice. With a pitch reminiscent of a major leaguer the punk navi launches a mini bomb right in to your chest. He then levels his cannon at you and misfires, but does manage to land the follow up charge shot on you.

Wanting to get that Swordy out of the fight quickly you slot in WendigoMan. The navi appears in a cloak of snow that manages to blanket the screen. When the snow clears the Swordy is gone and the punk is on his last legs. The punk navi tries to hit you with a Vulcan but only manages to clip you with one powered up shot. You slot in a sword and don't have to say anything as MetMan goes to work. With one slice the battle is over and the combat ui fades. As you see everything return to normal you notice both your friends are also taking on punk navis and the scared navi managed to get away in the confusion.

"Fine you want it that way? Viruses take me. Make me your vessel" says the navi that appears to be their leader. As soon as he finishes all the Swordy begin to dissolve in to a familiar cloud of code. It forms a massive tendril and begins swaying back and forth between you and the punk leader.

You decide to see what the tendril will do. It sways slowly between you and the punk as if deliberating something important. Finally it seems to make up its mind and lunges at MetMan. MetMan accepts the data and begins to change. His suit's padding turns in to armor and a sword materializes in his hand. You see the designation SwordMan appear above his head. As he gives his sword a few practice swings you hear the punk leader begin to panic.

"No. No. No. This is all wrong you were supposed to go on a rampage. How are you standing there so calmly? Whatever clearly this one's a bust. Everyone retreat" he says and jacks out followed by the other punks. As soon as its safe everyone begins to wind down and begins to search the area. All thats left remaining is questions. Questions and 2000z which you quickly snatch.

Buy a blank slate navi to then assimilate with MetMan? Sounds like a pretty good idea. They'd probably have some factory reset ones for budget players or ones who are really into customizing their Navi.

You are Ian Miller and today you are trying not to get stabbed. You spent all last night wondering about ways to strengthen and get through to MetMan, but nothing sounded right. That is until you thought about fencing. MetMan's new form is all about swords after all maybe if he can gain some mastery over them he could gain some mastery over the virus itself. So with that in mind you enrolled MetMan in a fencing course. If only you knew you would also be forced to try you might have considered some alternatives.

"Stop running this is a fight" says your instructor.

"Running is how I deal with fights" you say trying to put as much space between her and you as possible.

"This is about navi operator bonding. How can you expect your navi to put everything on the line if you wont?"

It takes you a few moments to steel your resolve, but her words do get through to you. You take an admittedly sloppy stance and begin trying to fight back.

With your resolve firmly set you charge. You begin with a flurry of slashes, but she dances around them and sighs. Alright maybe a more measured approach is in order. You take what you think is a more defensive stance and try again with two measured slashes, but unfortunately get similar results. Just as it seems all is lost you find it within yourself. A brilliant plan that is sure to score you the winning blow. All you have to do is-boop your thoughts are interrupted as the hilt of your instructor's sword meets the top of your head.

"Well at least I can't say your lacking in spirit" She says with more than a hint of disappointment. "Lets see if your navi is doing as bad as you"

You both turn your heads to the screen on the wall to view the fight between SwordMan and the instructor navi. You find them locked blade and blade in a fierce struggle for dominance. When it becomes apparent they are even SwordMan is the one to break it off as he jumps back to get some distance and catch his breath. The competition is close much closer than your match as both combatants looked ruffed up. SwordMan charges the instructor navi and manages to get some light cuts in on her, but after a few solid parries she manages to do just as much damage to him. Both fighters are pretty beat up at this point and it's clear next hit decides the duel. MetMan lets loose one final blow and is met with a parry. SwordMan's blow is deflected and the instructor looks to be about to follow up when MetMan follows up with a lightning quick back swing winning him the duel and forcing an emergency log out. Not only are you impressed at SwordMan's performance you think you can sense a little happiness coming from him. He hasn't looked this lively since you got him.

>SwordMan got a new ability back swing. When SwordMan uses a sword chip he immediately follows up with a second hit at buster damage.

"Well looks like some one is a natural" your instructor says approval evident in her tone. "Looks like thats all for today. Keep practicing at home and one day you might be as good as your navi."

With that over you congratulate SwordMan, get dressed and head to your car. What are you going to do?

Like Puzzle games that require flexing your logic and lateral thinking? Might help them hold onto that whole "sense of self" thing.
Maybe some sort of slice of life game fulla minigames and a nice spa?

You decide to follow up on the investigation in to the strange viruses with Meera and Sarah. All it takes is two quick calls and you're all off to the usual hangout ready to talk.

"So I looked in to the coffee shop page where we first met ChampMan. It's weird, but there are no new coffee shops opening up in DenCity. It seems like it was being built to advertise a place that doesn't exist" says Meera.

"I've been looking in to the place MetMan was originally attacked. I didn't find anything new except a message on the bulletin board it said something about a gathering storm and an unstoppable virus. I tried checking around the message boards in the undernet. So fare there have been a few sightings of virus shaped navis and some attempted kidnapings, but thats about it" adds Sarah.

As they finish their reports you decide to bring up an idea you've had about MetMan.

"So I've been thinking about getting some blank navis to see if MetMan can absorb them any thoughts" you ask

"I'm not sure if that will work. MetMan so far hasn't absorbed viruses directly. He's only managed to do it when there has been enough viruses to form one of those strange data clouds. I doubt a single blank navi or even a dozen has what it takes to form one of those clouds without outside interference" says Meera.

You excuse yourself and head home. You have some good old fashioned bonding to do. You decide to start easy with some good old fashioned logic puzzles. You start with the riddle about how to get a chicken, some seed and a fox across a river one at a time without any of them getting eaten. MetMan seems to have minimal trouble with this one. Next you do the tower of Hanoi puzzle and make a game out of seeing who can solve it in the least amount of moves. You end up coming out on top, but MetMan puts up a good fight. Still it doesn't seem enough for MetMan and he decides to wash away his failure by committing sudoku. He solves puzzle after puzzle, but eventually gets frustrated and give up on a hard part. Still it's nice to see him thinking again instead of just starring and following orders and you begin to have hope you really can save him.

You decide relaxation is in order and begin to play some other games with him. First you try some dating sims with him, but being MetMan all his dialogue choices end up just being ellipses. You move on to a first person shooter and let him show his stuff. Unfortunately his buster is a bit too weak and some of the enemies prove damage sponges. You decide against any further games and head to a virtual sauna. MetMan has the stall all to himself and begins to relax. The sauna apparently isn't hot enough for him as he decides to turn in to ChampMan to turn things up. The screen gets completely covered in steam as ChampMan turns in to a roaring inferno. It looks like ChampMan is getting a bit too in to it and you command him to turn back in to MetMan. He does as you command and it seems his tolerance for heat transforms with him because as soon as he changes he launches himself out of the sauna and back in to the cool outside.

You have bonded with MetMan which form has benefited the most
>MetMan
>ChampMan

The day winds down and soon you find yourself going to bed. You have a busy day tomorrow. You've been tasked with

If I remember battle network at all, Mets at their highest Excell at destroying the tiles you have to walk on. This renders met man with just a three hitting attack against a final boss that doesn't have to use tiles, which was every single one in every single game.

Well it just got all tied up, but since I allready finished the club response I'm going with that.

>MetMan gained Hardhat. MetMan has a one in four chance of deflecting any attack using his helmet. (To speed things up I'll roll it)

You know that club is supposed to be around here somewhere. Lets see you took Washington down to Franklin past the third starbucks on the right. Ah there it is you think as you pull up beside it. You go in and meet the manager, a balding heavy-set man, who seems to be sweating bullets. He seems elated to see you and quickly ushers you to the back where the jack in port for the AC is. Wanting to get this done quickly you jack in immediately and are met with the sight of a giant AC unit that almost blows MetMan off his feet. It seems like it will be hard to approach, but your confident MetMan can do it.

After he adjusts to it MetMan is barely phased by the wind. You make your way to the AC unit, but not before stopping to pick up 1000z and an Airspin1 A (Deal 50 wind damage with one to two shots). As you get close your path seems to be blocked by two FighterPlanes and a VacuumFan.

You slot in copydamage and get to work tagging on of the FighterPlanes. The plane opens fire and misses pitifully. You let loose a WendigoMan A and watch as the giant navi appears in a veil of snow before covering the entire screen in a blizzard. When it subsides the first plane is almost dead while the second and the fan are in mostly good condition. The second plane opens fire too, but with the snow in its eyes the shots land nowhere near you. You let loose with a cannon shot deleting the first plane and the fan just keeps sucking away.

>>
>>1340942
What he's saying is that we could use all of the chips we get every turn. That's pretty much the only advantage of monocode.
>>
>>1340932
Chill bruv. We'll get there eventually. We still need some more chips tho. But once we do, you can rampage all you want building.
>>
>>1340952
The funny thing is that I already know exactly what I'd be suggesting.
3x Sword A
3x Widesword A
3x Longsword A
3x Areagrab *
2x Thunder A
1x WendigoMan A

Kill shit with lifeswords, grab area to kill more shit with more lifeswords, set up 2x damage paralysis to kill even more shit with even more lifesword.
>>
>>1340967
So the plan is to get combos with the same lettering to execute nearly every turn? Sounds super effective.
>>
>>1340973
Keep in mind the original game isn't exactly generous with the code.

You slot in BushidoMan who quickly lets loose and completely misses the first hit, but nails the second against the immobile fan. The plane tries to hit you back and manages to hit you with a barrage. You shoot a machinegun right back and manage three direct hits. You finish the plane with another on target barrage before moving on to the fan with a simple cannon and end the fight. When the battle fades you notice 1000z lying on the ground and manage to pick it up just before it blows away. With the viruses gone its a simple task to reach the fan and change it back to cool. The club cools down immediately and the owner is upon you instantly thanking you and singing your praises. You accept your pay of 3000z and go home with another task complete.

Thread end.

You have 7000z
Feel free to use she shop and mess with your folder. Its the same as last time except the hp up is 4000. Sorry to end the thread early, but foods here.
>>
>>1340967
Welp, time to let loose the dogs.

Have fun m8.
>>
>>1340973
Yep. Unless RepairManMan has cut down lifesword damage, it'd end every single fight we've been in within two turns, and only take one turn for a bunch of them. Including the navifights, those would have been all one-turn wonders.

>>1340979
Eh, we can't grind in quest so it evens out. It's pretty easy to go monocode if you're not overly attached to the big damage chips. Sheer numbers of chips are better anyways, unless you're going for very particular S-ranks.
