In last chapter you broke Gretchen free and escaped Aliheath, now you’re going where the compass Zaina gave you is pointing at.

After telling Gretchen what happened to you yesterday, you wonder what’s inside Zaina’s box.

“It’s pretty small, maybe it’s a jewel or something?” Gretchen says.

“Maybe something like my crystal.”

“Let’s find out.”

You open the box, a magic lights blinds you for a second. Out of nowhere, Documents appear in front of you, they are stacked one over the other with a note on them, they belong to Zaina.

“I guess this was enchanted.” You assume, Gretchen shrugs. “We have some reading to do.”

“I don’t mind, I like reading.”

You read a note on top: ‘This is classified information of the highest degree. If you’re reading this it’s because either I’m dead or we’re best friends, if so, kisses!’

You decided to read the document titled “Compass” out loud:

The compass is the only magic artifact from my world I could adapt (I.E. Did not melt), basically what it does is search for individuals with incredible strength; of course, with this I can find the person who can defeat Ilin. The readings in this world are way stronger than in mine (In all fairness, Ilin defeated everyone who was kind of strong). One thing, it gets used to the type of energy of an individual who’s too close to it (less than 5 ft.) after certain amount of time (2 weeks) then completely ignores it. To reset you press A a bit and channel some magic into it.

I used the data from the Ability Displayer to make the process smother and not waste so much time waiting for it to adapt.

List of Strong People found for Project Help:

-Lorsoic
-Aderyn
-Wilge
-Enlia
-Nora

Lorsoic and Enlia’s names seem to be scratched.

“Oh no, this could led us anywhere!” Gretchen scratches her head.

“Uhm… if the next objective was impossible to reach I don’t think Zaina would go with this plan.”

“I guess…” Gretchen relaxes.

“Let’s see if we found more information before taking a decision.”

“I was about to say that, there is a lot we need to read anyway.”

You told Gretchen to read the document titled “Project Help” out loud:

Project Help is the last human effort to finally defeat Ilin.

The goal is to find the strongest individuals in the world, train them and use them to defeat Ilin as a single unit. In the most likely case of Ilin defeating them, we would use their genes we have storage and combine them to create the most powerful human in existence, if we find the trait that makes Ilin so special in one of them, our victory will be secure.

This creation will have an exploitable weakness only known to us, the members of Project Help.

Update 1: Ilin has successfully defeated the greatest heroes of the world; we didn’t count on her friends helping her. We are going to create the super human.

Update 2: The Super Human is created, P1H is its codename.

Update 3: P1H has been defeated. It was no match for Ilin.

Update 4: P2H is created. This surely will work; we took away most of its flaws and added new genes.

Update 5: P2H was defeated. It was an even fight until Ilin found her weakness. We can’t remove its weakness, if we do, we only would create a more powerful Ilin. We have to find a way…

Update 6: Ilin’s friends found out the project and destroyed the genes and the files. We’re helpless.

Update 7: We found a way to traverse to the other world in search for more strong individuals and a safer place to work. We’re going to send Doctor Zaina to test it and find more samples.

“That’s it.” Gretchen says.

“I guess Zaina didn’t update the document further.”

“Why would she? She was alone and probably had her own personal file.”

“I wonder why it’s called ‘Project Help’?”

“Yeah, I thought it was going to be about them trying to find help in other worlds and shit.”

“Very underwhelming indeed.”

“…So Zaina wanted you to defeat Ilin, right?”

“…Yeah.”

“No pressure at all, eh?”

“…What now?”

You started to read the document titled “Ilin and I” out loud:

Our animosity began when she was a victim of a kidnapping by one corrupt guard named ‘Bloodworth’, she refused to cooperate for unknown reasons, I knew she and her friends were hiding something… oh and her stupid friend Emily was a cat, I don’t why, but I hate her. Then it got worse when she and her friends helped escape one corrupt guard I was interrogating, but not before he revealed important information about the case. That’s when later I met the demon who granted ‘anything your heart desires’ that Ilin was hiding. I knew it was evil, but Ilin wanted the wish anyway and knocked me out. I don’t remember much after it, but a shining beam light in the middle of the forest calling me, begging me to stop Ilin and her selfish desire.

Later I found out what was all that about. The lighting was part of a ritual you did with something called ‘Kameraiden’ a monster race who opposes dragons that fulfilled one wish to anyone if they made a pact of some sorts. After it basically sacrifices itself, you enter the light and the devil basically gives you a wish. Ilin did it and became basically invincible, at least, to the standards of my world.

After 5 years in anonymity, Ilin and her friends rise from out of nowhere with an army behind them. They took over the world, they were unstoppable. We, as resistance, couldn’t deal with them, they toyed with us, they made fun of us and when we got too boring to them, we got annihilated. All my friends died that day.

As one of the few survivors, I swear revenge on her and everything she represents and began working in ‘Project Help’.

“Her friend was a cat? What?” Gretchen says confused.

“Of all of it, that’s the thing that caught your attention?”

“She was willing to blow herself up, of course I expected her to have a sad past, but I wasn’t expecting that… How is that even relevant to everything else? Like her friends died and…”

“…So many people sacrificed themselves, even now, they died for no rea—”

“N-Nora, let’s read another document, we have work to do.” Gretchen interrupts.

You started reading the document titled “Planet B Mythos” out loud:

A long time ago, humanity faced danger in every corner; nightmarish monsters attacked anything in their path, people were born just to eventually die. There was no way to survive, there was no way for love to blossom, there was no way for the people to have hope, and there was no way for mankind to prosper, a meaningless existence.

Humanity desperate to find a way to live used the somber energies of hopelessness from their fellow comrades and turned into a deity, a humanlike creature who fed with the only energy known to men: Fear.

Xydetel was named. He understood the pain his creators were having as he was made by them, and with no hesitation eliminated every dark being from the face of Betheros. Xyditel was hailed as a god after, and society began to form.

Eventually the dark forces he defeated unified and became the biggest threat humanity has faced, a creature prepared to destroy Betheros entirely. Xydetel faced the creature and was quickly defeated. He was no near as strong as before, the fear he was fed on to become powerful was nearly extinct since there was only hope in mankind’s souls, useless hope…

Humanity refusing to give up in despair, used the hope to create Yphinel, a more fitting god, as mankind understood what being alive meant and they were not letting this go. Yphinel was stronger than Xydetel ever was, and he without trouble defeated the creature. Yphinel became the new god of humanity and Xydetel was forgotten. Unlike his predecessor, Yphinel didn’t rest any minute and destroyed every dark force he could find, eventually cleansing Betheros in its entirety. Fear can’t be stronger than Hope.

A forgotten Xydetel, jealous of Yphinel’s success, power and fame, decided to confront him. The fight was a massacre, Yphinel won. Xydetel as a sore loser started to create what is now known as the Great Flood with what was left of his power; he wanted to scare humanity for them to grant him more power. Both of them fought again, in the end Yphinel grabbed Xydetel and sealed him in another dimension. Understanding the potential danger he and Xydetel can become to humanity, he sealed himself too in another dimension. And thus, The Gold Sanctuary was created, where each pillar represents a god who’s resting there.

Eventually, humanities strongest heroes climb the biggest mountain in the world and if they find the Gold Sanctuary and overcome a challenge, they’ll become ‘Gods’. Remember, if you worship one of the deities you could receive their blessing and they would lend their power to you.

“That last part… I don’t remember it. And this awfully detailed.” Gretchen says.

“I don’t either… We can become gods? Since when?”

“That is impossible; this whole thing doesn’t make any sense. How did he make rain? Why it continued after he left?”

“You always rant about that… Hey, there is a part comparing the two worlds…”

“Pick one.”

“Okay, what about this one!” Gretchen takes the file named “Ilin’s Abilitites and Objectives” and starts reading out loud:

Ilin is a demon, plain and simple. From the island of Cacoth in Planet A, she’s the most dangerous and powerful individual in the face of my world. She’s able to defeat dragons, krakens and the rising dead with her inhuman strength. At first it seems she’s obsessed with physical strength or “SWOLE” as she puts it, but in reality she only wants more power and fame. Ilin is aggressive, tough and strong willed beast. She for some reason hates crossfit.

Ilin possesses the ability of a [Stand], which is an extension of her ego taking somewhat of a physical form. I say somewhat, because only the ones who possess this power are able to see them. Materializing it in Planet B seems impossible, but the other abilities still remain, so beware. Ilin’s Stand ability is multiplying her physical capabilities immensely; sadly I don’t have the data to know how much exactly. There is so much to her, but I was not strong enough to make her take me seriously, even with my own [Stand].

I deduce her objective is to become a Goddess, since that’s achievable in Planet B. She already became Planet A’s most well-known ‘heroine’ (she’s no heroine, that title is meaningless now) so her being a glory hunter is basically a fact. She’s going to throw the balance of this world to the dumpster, like she did with mine, not only that, but the repercussions of a new god in this world will be disastrous, and with Ilin this could only mean the end. I’m not letting her do it again, even if it takes my life.

I had the chance to talk to her after my incident with her, before she disappeared for 5 years… She was rather nice, friendly even; it’s just… her friends push her to do evil… is it even evil if it’s not on purpose? No, it’s recklessness. But either way is unforgivable. You’re killing people, and I’m here to deliver justice.

“So this Ilin is just a dumb musclehead? What a letdown…” Gretchen says.

“You’re an emo alcoholic nerd and no one says anything.”

“Fuck you.” She laughs. “I mean she’s dumb enough to believe she can become a goddess.”

“One last file left.”

“Go ahead, read it.”

You nod and start to read the final document out loud:

Planet B or Betheros (How convenient) is a new world where people seem to have lived in parallel to mine. The main differences are that all magic items in my world seem to melt into what I will call “magic waste” and I can’t take out my [Stand], I still feel his ability within me, but it’s weaker, much weaker. It wasn’t strong to begin with, but this doesn’t help.

What I can say is magic works differently in two mayor ways:

Living beings seem to emanate some kind of energy out of their body, it can’t be used in any other form but with a “Magic Crystal”, those transform this energy in something useful. These seem rare.

Second, Magic is tied to the individual not to a bigger entity or power. In other words, it’s man made and most of it’s channeled.

I guess there goes my idea of selling magic artifacts from my world…

People can become gods, literally. All you have to do is a trial (almost an impossible one). It seems this world has a very frail balance, and if anyone else becomes a god, the end of the world prophecy of this world will begin. There is no much to this prophecy in the places I’ve been, but older people have told me that the friction between the two gods of this world could reemerge and a world war could start.

Then she goes on about the differences between people of both worlds, sadly this assumes that you know what the people in Planet A is like, so you’re just reading how everyone you know behaves…

“For being a scientist she sure likes to leave some important details.” Gretchen concludes.

“So that’s where the magic waste came from.”

“Who cares about it? There is some kind of prophecy now, what the actual fuck.”

“She didn’t write about how to become a god.”

“Damn it, if only she didn’t go kaput.”

(I felt a bit better after a nap so I made this reply, now it’s 4 am here. What’s wrong with me?)

“Are you tired? I’m sure as hell I am.”

“I was hoping you say that like 3 documents ago. Let’s get inside; our new beds are waiting for us.”

You together get inside the boat’s small cabin.

“This is bigger than I thought.” There are two beds inside, the place is really spacious.

“My boat is top quality, girl.” Gretchen grins, both of you get in your respective beds. “Night, sis.”

You doze off.

You hear the same voice calling you once again, louder and louder, you start to hear more and more voices, they scream, cry and sob. They blame you; the shadows take for and start pointing at you. Finally a giant shadow appears and takes them away. Suddenly you wake up. It’s the middle of the night.

“Great… a nightmare.” You mutter.

“If you want we can talk.”

“Gretchen? I hope I did not wake you up.”

“You did not; I had a nightmare of my own.”

“What was yours about?”

“I was stuck back in the cell, chained to the wall and slowly sinking, at some point, something tried to drag me out, but then… a bunch of disfigured faces dragged me down, I was afraid but I couldn’t scream, it felt like I deserve it.”

“Hey Nora, inside the ship there is the wine cellar… I mean the storage room, the kitchen is within.” Gretchen says while driving the boat.

You prepare a nutritious breakfast.

“I guess that is true.”

“You know, I do have a question, what if we for some reason found land. Do we stop there or we keep going? We have supplies for 6 months so we don’t have to worry about that. I spent all my salary on this escape plan after all.”

You start singing some sea shanties your father taught you. You start feeling manly! The melody brings life to your body! You start training too! Aaargh! You feel empowered! Maybe the helmet was wrong! You’re made to become a sailor! Or even better, a pirate!

While exercising you dream about the adventures of Captain Nora the Rebel, the greatest pirate to ever live. You found booty! You found Treasure! You take over cities! Arrgh! That’s the life of a pirate!

Eventually, you finished your training. Time to make lunch. You get inside and made the meal for the crew.

“Ahoy, Gretchen! Yer going to love it, mah girl!”

“I know you’re worried, but this is the only thing I’m looking forward in this boat, all I see is the ocean and it’s boring! So I can’t help to think about drinking.” She sips a bit of her bottle.

“That’s bad, that’s an obsession.”

“It’s my bad too… You’re going to get dizzy if you don’t eat, so let’s begin.”

You beat lunch with no other inconvenient, in fact you both enjoy it and had a small mild chat. Gretchen wasn’t in her 100%, but you let her drive her boat under your supervision. So you two ended up passing the day together.

The Saga continues. After dinner and a good night sleep, it’s morning once again! The fun adventures will continue! You prepared breakfast and call Gretchen to come as well.

“Here we go! Hope you like it!”

“I’m sure I’m going to.” She stares at the mouthwatering food.

You both finish the meal.

“Well that hit the spot!” Gretchen rubs her tummy.

“There isn’t much to do, you know?”

“I probably should have mentioned it early, but I brought some books to kill time. Even Zaina lend me some of hers. It was weird to meet someone who liked reading as much as I do.”

“What about the folks at the library? They seem pretty eager to read.” You know she hates them.

“Those asshats? Yeah, right, like religious books are so entertaining. If it wasn’t for me and old lady Nicole they would have threw all the novels away. I had all the collection of ‘Magical New Leaf’ with me, if you want to finish them.”

That’s a novel Gretchen likes, it’s about a witch misadventures around the world. The last volume released the same year of the Great Flood, so the whole saga is unfinished. You read the first volume years ago, you don’t remember why you didn’t finish it.

“I have some ‘How to’ if you’re interested. I learned to play the violin.”

“We never own a violin”

“One day I’ll show you, sis.”

You have your doubts. Gretchen shows you were she was storing the books. There are a lot to pick.

“I’ll take this one and resume sailing.” She took a novel.

Just a few books peak your interest, which one do you choose to read?

Well if Gretchen likes it, it has to be good right?

You read the first volume of ‘Magical New Leaf’, it’s about a young girl called ‘Artemisa’ and her enrollment in the magic witch academy of… fighting?... What?... She has a small talking hippopotamus as her mascot. The books goes through all her years in the academia and how she’s going to change the world with her pacifist magic, whatever that may be.

It was rough, with some inconsistencies and a main character who keeps contradicting herself, but you can tell why Gretchen likes it, it has some heartfelt and imaginative moments. Maybe it gets better too?...

Anyway, it’s time for… dinner. Ow god, you spent the whole day reading. You turn around and see Gretchen giggling.

“…Sorry about lunch.”

“It’s okay! Did you like it?”

“The book?”

“Yes! Artemisa is so cool! Right?”

“She was kind of… all over the place to me.”

“Of course she is! It’s the first book, later she gets sooo much better, are you going to read the next 4 volumes?”

“I need to make dinner.” 4 more?! Is she nuts?!

“Nora, answer me.” She looks so darn happy…

“It’s a bit too fantastic for my tastes. I’ll try treading that book on delicious recipes tomorrow. I’m sure you’ll be looking forward to that.”

“Yeah, maybe…” She sounds extremely disappointed. “Stupid Fighting Academy, always make people lose interest…” She murmurs.

"OH THE LENGTHS I GO THROUGH TO PLEASE MY SAILOR HUSBAND." you say with exaggerated splendor, feigning fatigue, walking towards the kitchen to prepare dinner.

“D-did you just called me your ‘Sailor Husband’? Are you going nuts again?” You giggle at her remark, her face turns red.

“Guess I’m getting better at teasing you.” You start skipping.

“…Do I look that manly?” Gretchen trails behind you.

Another delicious dinner completed. Gretchen enjoyed it a lot too. Before going to sleep, you read a bit of ‘Delicious Cooking Recipes Vol. 2’, enough for a new idea for breakfast.

It’s morning, you prepare the recipe for breakfast for Gretchen, both of you enjoy it immensely.

“Holy cow, Nora. This is great! Give me some more!”

“Here, a bit of leftovers.”

“This thing is not going to drive itself.” Gretchen gets up and leaves.

After finishing the rest of the book, you wonder what you want to read next.

You read ‘Fishing with Phil’: while the tips are good, there are no depths to them, I guess that’s how the basics should be presented, right? But the book is simply too short, it felt like you read it in 15 minutes even though an hour passed.

Also every single time the author mentions any type of anecdote he sounds like a huge douchebag to everyone, even blames his audience (Sailors) for his problems and calls them the worst type of people in the world. He got issues. Anyway, you learned fishing!

“Gretchen, do we have a fishing rod and some bait?” You yell.

“Yeah, in the storage room.” She yells back.

Do you want to try?

You went for the fishing rod and some bait, let’s see how this turns out…

You forgot something important.

“Gretchen, stop the boat I’m fishing.”

“What? You want to do it right now? Okay…” Gretchen stops the boat and sits beside you.

…Nothing happens.

“Remember the weird helmet that told us our abilities?”

“Yeah, what about it?” You ask.

“Weren’t you awful at being a sailor?”

“…What are you implying?”

“Maybe this isn’t going to work.”

“…”

You feel your rod tingling.

“Wait, what?!” Gretchen yells surprised.

Oh no, it’s big, way too big.

“Help me, Gretchen! It’s BIG!”

“W-what do I do?”

“Help me pull you dumb dumb!”

Gretchen grabs you by the waist and both of you pull with all your strength!

“Aaaaaaaah!” Both of you yell, finally pulling out the fish out of the water.

Yeah, it’s a fish! But it’s the—

“IT WAS A TRICK! THE GREAT MIGHTY BIG FISH IS IN DANGER! I REPEAT! IN DANGER! ” It’s seems is the exactly same fish you once faced at the mine, he has an eye patch and is full of bruises, How did it got here?!…

“What the fuck is that?” Gretchen asks dumbfounded.

“I’M THE GREAT MIGHTY BIG FISH, YOU DISGUSTING BUT SEXUALLY AROUSING HUMAN!”

“Don’t get near me!” Gretchen yells.

“I thought you died…”

“OHOHOHO! ANOTHER DISGUSTING BUT—“

“Shut up. We get it.” You pull out your sword, good thing you have your gear on.

“HOW LOW OF YOU, I’M SEVERELY WOUNDED AND YOU POINT YOUR THING AT ME?! YOU SCUM! SCUUUM!”

“I wonder why they are so bright…” Gretchen says while staring at them, the lights illuminate her face. It’s a beautiful night, the moon is full.

“They are beautiful” You sit.

“Do you think they shine our path?”

“They better be, I don’t want to get lost. Since this is getting pretty boring.”

“At least you can have fun reading; all I can do is watch the sea be boring.”

“You can read them again.”

“Yeah… That sounds riveting…” She says sarcastically.

“Talking about riveting experiences, I met the guy you kissed!”

“W-WHAT?!” She gets all red.

“What’s wrong? He looked cute to me.”

“I-I…” She shakes her head. “Never mind how was he?”

“Drunk and crying for you.”

“Oh no, Steve… I feel bad for him.”

“So you have feelings for him?”

“I don’t know, maybe? It’s not like I was really in love, he was just a very nice guy; he didn’t deserve what I did to him.”

“Are your kisses that bad? Hmmm?” You tease.

“…Real funny, he wanted a girlfriend so bad when I saw him and—”

“Well he ended up flirting with me anyway.” You interrupt her.

“What.”

“I can’t blame him; I’m pretty good looking girl. The helmet said it.” You pose. “Anyway, how was your kiss? Hmmm? Did you enjoy it?”

“You know? It felt great! He was a good looking charming guy and I’m not ashamed of admitting it!” She looks ashamed of admitting it. You cannot help but laugh. “Stop laughing!” She starts punching you very lightly in the shoulder.

“Oh, Gretchen, you’re so funny!”

“Uh?”

“We know almost everything embarrassing about each other. And everything you dare me to do is going to suck since we’re stuck in this great boat.”

“I see… Then, what about a fishing duel?”

“Now we’re talking.” Gretchen grins.

“The loser gets slapped in the face with the biggest fish… or has to kiss it!”

“Very well, worst sailor, get the rods, I will stop the ship” She’s enjoying herself too.

You two are ready to start. But before you do, Gretchen clarifies:

(Also the Image spoils the winner)

“Let’s go!” Gretchen yells.

The duel begins! Nora and Gretchen are doing their best to catch the biggest fish. It seems the freckled one is getting more fishes!

Nora finally gets her first fish out! Looks small! How is going to fare against the ones from Gretchen?!

“Nora! This is a big one! Prepare yourself to face the consequences of defying me!” Gretchen laughs and takes out a beautiful red fish from the sea… it’s big, bigger than anything Nora got so far.

“I-It’s not over yet!” You can feel Nora’s confidence deploring.

15 minutes to go! The duel seems in Gretchen’s bag.

“Take that, you lumpy fool!” Gretchen yells to deconcentrate Nora.

“What does that means?!”

“It means you’re done for!”

Nora feels a tingling.

“I’m not sure about that!” She starts pulling out, a big green looking bash! Looks about the same size as Gretchen’s fish.

“I too can pull tricks under my sleeve!” Gretchen pulls out another thing… it’s a black weird looking ball, it’s the size of a head. “What the hell is thing? Well, who cares! Time is over.”

Indeed it is! Nora takes her bass and Gretchen her red fish, they compare sizes and…

The winner is…

Gretchen!

“…I want a rematch.”

“No rematch, time to pay! Hehehe!” Gretchen laughs.

“Come on! Y-you can slap me! Wouldn’t that be funnier?”

“G-Gretchen! We’re sisters! I saved your life! I—“ You made their lips collide with each other. Poor Nora! She didn’t saw it coming!

“C’mon, that’s it? Where is that intensity of yours? I want to see more passion! It’s your first kiss after all!”

“Shut up! Shut up! Shut up! You stupid dummy!” She spits and cleans her mouth “I’m going for water, this is disgusting!” Nora leaves.

“Hey don’t forget to cook your boyfriend for lunch!”

“I forgot about that thing.”

“Well a good kiss puts anyone in cloud 9.”

“Shut up!”

You went outside to inspect the weird looking giant ball, apart from the eye sign in the middle, you couldn’t figure out what it is.

“I guess we can’t do anything. Maybe we should throw it out of the boat.”

“We could open it.”

“How?” Nora always has bad ideas.

“I have a pickaxe.” Again?!

“Do as you please, I’ll make this thing move again” Back to sailing, I guess. “Maybe I should check on Nora.”

You walk towards where your sister is.

“Gretchen! Look!” Nora yells.

“What is it?”

“Above!” Nora points upwards

A weird looking… globe goes towards you! It’s big, music comes out of it and so is confetti! What the hell is going on?

“I have no idea…” Nora pulls out her sword. “Get inside; I have a bad feeling about this.”

“I mean the song is pretty nice …”

Okay... now I REALLY want to know what this is about.

Sorry to hear about the hiatus. I couldn't participate to this thread but it seems I didn't miss much other than consuming the flesh of a fellow intelligent being (WTF??)
Good job on keeping Gretchen's alcoholism under control though!

Not aware of the hiatus and knowing that this thread woulod likely spoil it, I hurriedly read through Not So Glorious Quest.
I am now more confused than ever.

I expected to read the backstory of a self-absorbed world-ending monster. Unless I overlooked some pretty significant fridge horror, I found nothing of the sort in there.
Seemed to me that the players managed to achieve a happy end. There was even a time skip of several years and the protagonist didn't seem to have become corrupt or brainwashed into doing evil.

In fact, if I was to choose what to believe based solely on the two stories so far (without taking into account statements by the author), I'd be inclined to assume that Zaina was always batshit crazy and paranoid, in cahoots with likeminded control freaks.
Based on the Ilin we've seen and her friends too (none of which seemed outright evil, except maybe the cat spirit), the more likely scenario to me seems that of Zaina's party reacted to the appearence of a god-like being with irrational fear and desperately trying to destroy her even though she was not hostile. Which I would assume is how Zaina's friends died: by tried to capture or kill Ilin unprovoked, based solely on the potential threat she represented.

It would have to be either that or Ilin going mad with power/getting brainwashed inbetween quests, after the time skip.
So which is it?

I know you've already confirmed that Zaina's assesment that the threat Ilin's ambitions represent to this world is real, but is she aware of the (likely?) consequences of her actions (and indifferent) or is she convinced everything will be fine?

I'm guessing the latter and given how crap she was at interpersonal communication I imagine Zaina probably didn't even really try to talk her out of it (she definitely seemed to prefer actions to words, even when a few meaqsured words could defuse an explosive situation).

I'm mostly just curious, but I gotta say, based on the quest I've read, if I was one of the players and found that the character I helped shape into a hero turned supervillain off screen, I'd probably be quite bothered. And it'd make me wonder: could it happen again? Will We get Nora her happy ending only for it to be turned on its head later?
So that's why I'm asking. Otherwise, I'd be content to wait for the answer to come within the story. But I really do believe, returning players should be told what set their previous avatar on her current path.

Forgot to add: given however that in the last thread you actually told us that Zaina's world changed for the worse because of the conclusion to the previous quest, I'm forced to go with the notion that players have, unfortunately, been robbed of their happy end (though I guess things can still get better, even if we probably won't interact with that world directly this time around).

Ah sorry, one more thing I'd like to bring up: Zaina's notes claim that the reason this world seems to have more powerful people in it would be because Ilin killed anyone powerful in the other one.
Now that really, REALLY does not sound like the Ilin that near the end of her quest was concerned because the soul of the guy that tried to enslave and rape her was eaten by her best friend.
So either 1) Zaina is wrong/lying due to her biased point of view (say refusing to count people who are strong but aligned with her interpretation of justice), 2) anyone who was strong in the other world also happened to be a massive douche and pushed Ilin to kill them or 3) Ilin did in fact change drastically off-screen, becoming pretty chill with the whole "kill lots of good people" thing.

Too much videogames to answer earlier. Sorry!

I’m hoping not to disappoint when the time comes.

We will found out!... eventually.

It’s nothing ‘bad’, more like something annoying to deal with.

You will have them, don’t worry.

I admire your dedication but nobody should have read ‘Not so Glorious Quest’, since it was created mainly for people to play it, not to binge read it (And so is From Pleb to Hero in a lesser extent).

Adding Ilin in this quest was a huge mistake at this point, but I usually can salvage (a bit) mistakes like this. Hell ‘Not so Glorious Quest’ should have been named ‘Why did I add that, I don’t know what I’m doing Quest’.

This is my last quest, if Nora ends up in the path of good, she will be good forever.

Fuck it, I’ll say it, I don’t want anyone who played ‘Not so Glorious Quest’ to feel cheated, Ilin is a good girl! She’s too pure! SWOLE would never turn evil! In fact, Emily, Shimilia and Cif didn’t turn evil either. The only things Ilin defeated were the P1H and P2H. I don’t know how much I’m willing to spoil Ilin’s backstory, but from this point on I want this to be less about ‘Not so Glorious Quest’ and more about ‘From Pleb to Hero Quest’.

Also I can’t help to think that you’re being unfair with Zaina, remember this happened:

Zaina: Ilin destroy this thing that grants unimaginable powers who I know for sure is evil! We cannot allow it to exist!
Ilin: lolno, I need it, nerd, I want unimaginable powers. (Punches Zaina) Thxbye.

Tell me how you can trust someone who did that to you. Anyway, some assumptions about her (Zaina) are correct, but not all of them, if I tell you more (or which ones) I would have to inquire in Ilin’s world backstory, and I rather not do that now. I have time to rethink some stuff and to cut some loose ends, so I’ll make the best of it that I'm able to.
