The Pirates Who Don't Do Anything

http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/qstarchive.html?tags=Pokemon%20Island%20Adventure%20Quest
https://twitter.com/GobbleQM
Character info pastebin in progress: http://pastebin.com/iB0tb7rz
Dice odds for best of 3: http://pastebin.com/994WTT3g

General rules:

There is a 10 minute voting period after each post. Non-contradictory votes will be combined as best as possible.

Write-ins for all votes are always welcome and encouraged. They may not all make it into the post or be altered to fit in, but I'll do my best to at least try to address the spirit of the write-in.

Very important or contentious votes may be redone in a stricter voting system as circumstances warrant.

Combat mechanics involve three rolls of 1d100, taking the best, and using the base accuracy and crit ranges of the game, roughly, but the 'turn order' will be more like the anime, where sometimes you can do a few moves in a row or be hit by a combo of moves yourself, all depending on circumstances. Stronger moves tend to take more time and have more cooldown than weaker moves, so beware of that timing. Speed is more important for closing ground, intercepting, and other things and doesn't necessarily mean going first. Infact, you can do more than one move in a row like the anime, but so can your opponents.

Call me out on a mistake and receive a suggestive picture, mostly likely a butt.

Pokemon:
Gobble (Munchlax)
Mace (Roggenrola)
Belladonna (Roselia)

You can’t believe you beat the gym. And while you had a few tense moments, it wasn’t very close.

Keira slides down your body, arms and legs still wrapped around you. She rolls away with the huge smile on her face that even her particularly scary makeup today can’t dampen.

“Okay, what’s your real story?” The gym leader asks.

“I...I don’t understand.”

“The way you grabbed the vial while disguising your aura, the way you battled, and this obviously fake priestess. Who are you all, really?”

You did what to your aura?

“Fake?” Keira points to herself.

“I wasn’t born yesterday, Ghost Priestesses don’t just touch anybody, let alone leave their temple without a good reason.”

Keira looks more bemused than offended. She gives you a very rare look of self-awareness.

Polu steps forward. “I can promise you, they’re who they say they are.”

Her eyes are the only thing really visible under the face mask she put back on. And they’re looking awfully suspicious right now. “You’re going to have to be more convincing than that if you want your badges.” She dangles them out in front of both of you. “You’re the most suspicious of all, Polu. You’re hiding something.”

We can demonstrate our paladin powers on Mace or one of her pokemon. Whichever works for her.

That probably raises more questions than answers, but would she believe us if we said that we really don't understand what's so strange about that all? We should be like an open book to her.

“Keira’s just a weirdo.” You say. You check to see if she’s offended, but she’s taking that as a compliment. Maybe it’s because you said it with such an upbeat tone. “And my aura’s been weird since I went on a vision quest to become Maema.”

Now she’s really giving you the stink eye. “Weird how?”

You lean down and heal Mace. It’s not much, but it’s a visible change in his condition. Your head is a little light when you stand back up.

She says nothing for a minute. You can’t see her face either. But whatever she’s thinking, she must be okay with it, because she turns to Polu. “And you?”

“I’m just a trainer from Kontote traveling with friends and trying to make it as best I can!”

She gives him another suspicious look, but let’s it go. “Well, I must say I am impressed regardless. You’ve got quite the talent, both of you.” Polu looks less sure about that, but he’s more than willing to take the compliment.

She flips up two shiny objects. Everyone turns their heads up to watch them fly and try to catch them. Polu grabs his and yours falls to the grass. You pick it up and examine it. “These are TMs!”

“Venoshock.” She tells you. “Shame I didn’t get a chance to demonstrate it.”

“Does this mean we get badges, too?” Polu asks eagerly.

She points to your shirts. She pinned badges on them! “Maybe I could use you.” She says, more to herself than anybody else. “How would you three like to pull a job for me?”

“What kind of job?”

She motions for you all to sit back down to her table. She offers tea, but nobody takes her up on it.

“So my brother has a ship down at the pier. On that ship, is a small amulet. It looks exactly like this.” She takes one from around her neck and shows it to you. “But it has a qwilfish on it. I want it.”

“But why?” Keira asks.

“Because then, I’ll have the ultimate authority to dictate what happens to his ship. And if he gets mine, he control of my gym.”

“Why do you want his ship?”

She waves the concern away. “I don’t. I just want him to not make port here anymore. Whenever he’s on the island, he tries to take my amulet. As far as I’m concerned, he’d be free to sail around and do whatever it is he does normally.”

“It’s so sad when siblings fight.” Keira says, wistfully.

“Oh, it’s hardly a fight. More of a...rivalry. He’s always wanted to show that he’s the better thief. But I’m sure if he had control of the gym, he’d get up to all sorts of unsavory abuses. And we don’t want that, do we girls?” She yells back to the bushes.

“No, mistress.” A bush answers back.

“So what do you say? I’d compensate you, of course.”

[Since there were questions and it’s close, I’m going to do a revote on if Herb will take the job.]

“Do you promise that you’re just planning on keeping him away?”

She leans back. “Well, aren’t you the honest one, young Bro. Yes. If you do this for me, I promise just to keep him away.” She puts her hand up like she’s swearing. “If I can be honest, it’s not just about the gym, though. This island...it’s not good for him. He needs something more wholesome. Something where people won’t lead him down the wrong path more than he’s already gone.”

Oh. That’s sweet, in a weird, roundabout sort of way. As an older and younger brother, you understand, though. But still, she could be just saying that, and stealing isn’t really your way.

She didn’t explicitly say to steal it. You might be able to find another way. That’s probably a fantasy, though.

Gah! You’re so confused!

“If we get it, doesn’t that make us in charge of the ship?”

She leans in close. “Technically. But you wouldn’t be able to hold it for long. I wouldn’t recommend that course of action.” To emphasize her point, a bush launches a throwing star into the wood table right in front of you.

“Come on, will you try to get it for me?”

You look to your friends. Polu says nothing.

Keira puts a hand on your shoulder and gives you a disarming smile. “I’ll help, if you want. It sounds fun!”

“Alright. I’ll try.” You tell Kalai. “I can’t promise I’ll succeed, though.”

“‘Undersell and overdeliver’ huh? I heard that motto from a mainlander once.” She tells you. “We’ll give you a layout of the ship and a list of crewmembers, but beyond that, you’re on your own.” She claps her hands and an assistant appears the some paper for you. “Good luck.”

You and your friends are escorted to where you first arrived on the gym grounds. On the way, Polu takes you aside. “You sure you’re up for this, bro?”

“It couldn’t hurt to try, right?”

“Yeah, I guess you’re right. I’ll back you up. But what about Keira?”

She’s smiling and humming as she walks along. Cutefly flies along with her, going up and down with her pitch. She’s the picture of innocence.

He tries to look skeptical, but he can’t help but get psyched up. “Yeah bro! Team PolKeiHerb!”

Keira runs over with her own attempt. “Team KeiraHerbPol!”

“So, what’s the plan?” He asks as you all walk into the pokemon center. “Get some dark clothes and rope and grapple hooks? Oh man, that’d be so radical!”

“I was just going to try asking him for it. If he knows his sister's pure intentions, he can't say no, right?”

Polu and Keira share a look. He’s making a weird face, but she looks really happy with the idea.

“Okay, bro. You try that, and Keira and I will uhh, do a backup plan while you’re talking to him.”

“I want to go with Herb.” Keira protests. “I think he has a good plan.”

“Great! Nothing bad with having a fall back plan. We're counting on you, Polu!”

“Good luck, bro!” He grabs his pokemon. “Be careful. Don’t say anything too dangerous, okay?”

Huh. You wonder what he meant by that. Oh well. Your pokemon are delivered back to you from the pokemon center, and you and Keira start heading to the docks. According to the info they gave you, he and a lot of his crew tend to hang out at a tavern near there.

All sorts of interesting characters walk by as you make your way there. The streetlights become fewer and farther between, and the alleys become narrower and messier. Jeez, this town sure gets scary at night.

But somehow, you make it there without incident. The tavern looks right out of some movie. At least, from the outside. A few rough looking sailor types are gathered just around the corner of the entrance playing dice. A loud, manly cheer booms out from the wooden door. The smell of sea salt and stale beer stains permeate the air. Gobble and the others stay close to you.

You turn to your Keira. She doesn’t seem concerned in the slightest.

“Ready, Keira?”

“Yeah!” She reaches her palm out. You instinctively high five it. She looks ecstatic that it worked. “That’s a fun mainlander custom!”

going by how many posts somebody has is not really the best way to detect samefags, I usually don't post unless I have something interesting to say and usually only vote when I think the outcome matters. Which means a vote is often times my first post. I tend to go more by if somebody just does the bare minimum to vote such as not making a small post with it describing their thinking as to why they voted that way; that's hard to fake.

You decide the simple way is best. No need to try something new, scary, and outside of your wheelhouse. You open the door and look around. Keira and your Pokemon follow.

The tavern looks exactly like you imagined it, and then some. Rough sailor types, serving girls with frilly dresses and distractingly low-cut tops that make you think back to Laki in that sundress for some reason, and smoke and pokemon making their way between it all.

You go to the bartender. He gives you a strange look. “You sure you’re in the right place?”

“I think so. I’m looking for Captain Pahoa.”

He stops cleaning his glass. “Oh. I see now. You cabin boys are getting younger and younger, though.” He motions his head to a large crowd around a table. “That way.”

Wow. That was easier than you expected! You head over to the large crowd and find a small opening to slide through to see what everyone is gathering around for.

“And then I swung back to my ship, the booty in one hand, and the other hand on the booty!” He holds a small chest in one arm and slaps the rear end of one of his crewmembers with the other. The thunderous roar of laughter would be jostling you over if you were squished between people.

Captain Pohoa is a large, bearded man with a stylish beard and an open leather jacket. He’s got an armband as a bandanna like Polu. He picks up a large mug and downs it in one go before wiping his mouth with his sleeve, somehow managing not to leave a drop or stain his sleeve.

“Go fetch more, will ya?” He tosses his empty mug into the unprepared hands of one of his subordinates.

“Hi.” You quickly take the empty seat next to him, then reach your hand out to shake his. “I’m Herb.”

He shakes it, but only in confusion. He looks around to his crew, but nobody has an explanation for your presence. “Hello.” He chuckles a little. His eyes rest on Keira for a second. “I’m not dying, am I?” He jokes.

Keira waves off his concern. “Technically we’re all dying, but I’m not here for that.”

“Huh. And here I thought I was being escorted to the heavens by a cute little cherub.” He kisses your hand. Bella leaps onto the table to make him back off, causing him to laugh even more. He doesn’t consider you or Keira even remotely threatening.

“Heavens?” Keira asks. “You mean the afterlife, right? Is a cherub another word for a Ghost Priest?”

“Uhh yeah, sure. Whatever.” He scoots closer to you. “So what’s a young trainer like you doing here?”

“I came to ask something from you.” You tell him straight.

“Stay and have a drink with me, and I’ll consider it.” He orders you a drink. You ask for water instead. Keira is given a mug as well and inspects it only briefly before chugging it.

The two of you end up talking for awhile. He asks all about where you’re from, if you’ve ever been out to sea, if you want to feel his muscles (Wow! Even more impressive than Laki!) and you both end up on the topic of fashion. He actually knows a lot. He even ends up giving you some tips on a few things that might really work for you.

“I’ve got a few crates of designer clothes that uhh, my crew and I happened to get on a five finger discount. Why don’t you come to my boat and we can have a fashion show?” That must be some sort of islander slang. He downs his next mug. “Oh yeah, before that, you had a favor you wanted to ask, right?”

Oh right. You were so into the conversation you almost forgot. Now, how to phrase this?

>Your sister sent me to get your amulet because she’s worried about you.
>Talk about how hollow a life of stealing must be. Surely he’s ready to give it all up, right?

I mean, I want it to turn gay, but for Polu, not this guy. I'd be super down for Herb examining his same-sex feelings because of this guy. But I don't see anything physical actually coming out of this. Maybe a homoerotic, noncanon bin at most. How does that sound?

“I wanted to talk to you about your amulet. Your sister send me. She’s worried abo-”

He pushes you back. Crewmembers are caught almost as unprepared as you are, but they drop everything and grab your arms so you can’t move. They even grab Keira, although you note that they seem really awkward and unsure about it. Enough that she’s able to squirm loose, crawl up one’s back, and jump to a chandelier out of reach. She can move like some sort of lubed up, long tube shaped water balloon.

He pats himself down with one hand and draws a sword on you with another. He finds his amulet safely on his person. “So, she thought she’d use my weakness against me, huh? Real convincing act.”

“What? No. She seemed really concerned about you. So I came to ask for your amulet so you wouldn’t be able to make port here anymore. She says it’d keep you from getting in trouble.”

He stares at you for a second. Then he chuckles, then laughs. The crew isn’t sure what to do, but slowly join in. Good timing, too, because you spot Bella about to attack his ankle. Gobble takes the opportunity to eat from his plate. Dice got up in the rafters with Keira somehow, and Mace isn’t anywhere to be seen, but you’re not too worried about him.

“You’re serious, aren’t you? And you just thought you’d ask for it?” Another round of laughter. Even Keira, who crawls up the chandelier chain to the rafters, giggles a little. It is pretty infectious.

“She must be worried. Or weak at the moment. Why else would she try such a desperate move? Sending you is just pathetic.” He makes an apologetic wave with his sword. “No offence.”

You understand where he’s coming from, but still. Ouch. “It’s okay.”

“I actually like you, Herb. You don’t find many people willing to just state what they want. And even less with as good an eye for fashion. But I’m going to have to keep you under guard.”

“What? Why?”

“Because me and my crew are going to the gym! Aren’t we, boys?”

They cheer.

Uh oh.

>Wait! Try to convince him to give it up (write in suggested. Also requires a roll)

“I challenge you!” You shout out. The crowd freezes.

“What?”

“I’m challenging you for your amulet. You can’t back down because of your bandanna, right?”

Everyone laughs. You hate that. You’re always getting looked down on in terms of toughness. Sometimes it just gets to you too much for you to let it go. “Hey! I’m serious. I just rocked your sister’s world-” the laughter stops, “with my Roggenrola.” It roars up even louder.

He looks at his arm, then to you, then he sighs and dramatically sits down on his chair. “Don’t be foolish, Herb. you think I command this crew with this bandana if I couldn’t battle?”

“Maybe he’s challenging you to Taipai.” A crewmen posits. And for his comment, he gets a death glare.

“Taipai?”

“Yeah, you know, where you have a pokemon race with a bunch of flags along the course, and can use one move every time you pass a flag.” Keira hangs upside down from the rafters. "You don't have that on the mainland?"

”I can tell you where she has some really embarrassing magazines.”

“Oh, Herb.” He waves a finger. “You wonderful little Pikachu!” He pinches your cheek. “You have no idea what a gift it is just to hear that they exist! Well, I certainly can’t say no to that.” He leans in close. “Did she have the fall catalog? It would have this tall drink of water wearing nothing but a Machamp belt.”

“I think maybe there was one like that. I can’t really remember. I saw her diary, though.”

“Diary?” He looks really interested now.

Bella leaps up on the table to make him back off. She relaxes when Keira lands down next to you and the men release you from their grip. “So we have a deal?”

He shakes your hand. Keira watches the ritual intently, trying to learn from it. “We have a deal.”

You feel a little guilty about what you just did, even if she sent you on a mission to steal. You really want to win now.

My ideal situation is that Herb and Keira become an item, but they decide to keep from getting biblical until Keira's achieved total detachment or whatever. In the mean time, Keira asks Hana and maybe Laki if they would serve as sexual surrogates.

And when Herb inevitably exhausts them/ they aren't available, she asks Val, Jane, and Polu.

And then on their wedding night Herb is a finely tuned loving machine, but finds the embrace of a romantic partner to be the best of all. Keira has her world rocked.

And then they have a scandalous amount of children.

>>
>>1353370
Here's hoping Laki succeeds. Though i think Herb might need to bond a bit more with Val to make her more comfortable with the idea.

Also after reading some of the insight on Keira, do priestess get locked into their sects? In other words, is she stuck being a Ghost priestess or with her opening up inhibitions can she choose to follow an Love/Passion style group of priestess?
>>
>>1353929
Honestly, there's a whole lot I want to learn about the clergy here, not the least of which is what each sect's outlook on their type and philosophy is. Normal temple looks to be conspiracy-tier interesting.

Sect changing looks to be a fundamental part of the religion if the male ghost priest who guides the all-female recruits is anything to go by.

Again, I feel like Herb should resolve to learn a recipe from every temple. I still want to go back and hit up that tea expert at the electric temple.

But we should probably finish paying off our good rod before starting a new main quest.
>>

Gobble you damn adorable cinnamon bun that must be protected.
>>
>>1353989
Yea we need to finish that side quest
>>
>>1353929
[Some sects are more strict about that than others.

The political structure is basically an oligarchy (for lack of a better term) of the leaders of each temple. Under them is the Elite Four as a sort of check in power but also enforcers, and then below them are mid-ranking clergy, respected local community leaders, mayors/village elders, etc. Then below them are anyone who is Meama but doesn't hold any particular role, and then misc regular islanders, and then everyone else, and then like criminals and stuff. The concept that everyone has a role to play and being "lower" on the ranking system doesn't mean deserving of disrespect is one that's taught everywhere, but it still happens anyway sometimes. It's a fairly informal system, though, and sometimes priests are gym leaders or village elders as well.

To answer your question, it'd be a fairly big deal if Keira left to another sect. It doesn't happen every day, but it can happen. It's like leaving one company for a non-competing company that they do business with, I guess. Most people will wish you luck, but some are all about that company loyalty/feel betrayed.

Keira's basically on a trial run of a rumsprigga idea the Ghost temple is trying in order to keep up with the modern world. They figure they can't keep the girls sheltered anymore with the way things are, and want to let them see a bit of the world in the hopes that it deflates the mystique a bit.

Right now, Keira is at a crossroads of what path she wants to take. A normal high ranking priestess who does more funeral/death duties, an oracle (someone who can look into the future in drugged out visions. A very rare gift that requires a lot of seclusive training, but grants you a lot of leeway to do weird shit because "oracles are always weird"), leaving all together (not really even something she's ever considered. Her life is all she knows) or leaving to another sect (a possibility, but she doesn't currently see any reason to do that) or something else. She's starting to see the appeal of being a normal girl who has fun and boyfriends and stuff now that she's exposed to it, but she'd never seriously consider something outside her religion. At least, at the moment. It's possible she might have a crises of faith or some other jolt off her path. If she moved up a bit she could start a subsect focusing on the love/joy/passion of life while you're alive, but she'd need a lot of sway and respect to pull that off and be recognized.

The Ghost temple is the most mysterious and notable on the islanders since you typically see one when someone died. It tends to make people stand up straight and remember all their mantras and formal greetings and all that. On the flip side, the Grass sect has an almost casual relationship with farmers, since they work together so much. Farmers are more formal in public with them to keep appearances, and casual in private since they see each other so much.]

>>
>>1354124
Hmm interesting

We should definitely have a talk with her about her decision about her path, though she does seem more fixated on the modern world stuff. The old sayin 'Trying to take her back to the farm, now that she's seen Paris' comes to mind. Oracle seems like it would be more her style, not sure about the drugged out visions though. The subset idea sounds cool, though i was more thinking of separate maybe even new temple that focused solely on matters of love/joy/passion or maybe a peace love and understanding focus. Nothing like full on sacred prostitution; Herb and the gang havent turned her into that kind of girl so far but seeing as Keira has been the most open hearted and accepting of Her of all the temple folks, she could be the one that helps bridge the gap between the new mainlanders and the more conservative islanders. Not sure if that nade much sense, but maybe someone will get the idea.

Thanks for the info Gobble

[Kids are sent there at a young age. So it's not strictly hereditary. Usually there's some sort of test or aptitude shown. Parents see it as a big honor and a way to a nice life for their kids. They can say no, and that happens sometimes, but that's seen as a bit weird to do.

On the rare occasion that clergy have kids, they almost always gravitate towards the clergy themselves since their parents are all about that life anyway. So in general, clergy having kids is discouraged in one way or the other through celibacy, seclusion, social pressure, or other ways. They want to avoid a dynasty situation and preferential treatment. It's far from perfect, though. And even when it works out, the low population of the islands means that someone is always related to someone anyway, like a cousin or something.]

I get that trust me, but following a QM is not unlike faith. It can be fun to speculate but in the end it is pointless because there is a higher entity, the QM who see's all and knows all and put things in order so that we do not have to. It makes idle speculation a venture into the absurd, things will always turn out alright just like they were always going to.

The greatest amount of control you could possibly exert into this reality is a convincing argument during vote time, anything else is pretty much pointless and desperate.

Thanks guys, seriously.

I know that I've always been a pretty risk-averse, voice-of-caution, slow to mature kind of guy. I'm pretty comfortable with that.

Some of my family has had issues with alcohol, and that probably went a long way towards shaping my attitude.

Like, I'm considering just not drinking for another three years because the human liver and brain are in developmental stages until you're 24. That's the sort of guy I am.

Although, I do get the chance to lower my inhibitions a bit and speak pretty damn freely here. Just another reason I like hanging out with you guys, I suppose.

I would prefer you obsess about the formative psychology of pizza's to be honest, I cannot into gay not matter how much I try. And if this quest goes down that path I will not be able to follow even though I love it.

I would prefer that path be left unsaid to be honest; there is a reason people usually choose female MC's for their quests and it is so this sort of situation never occurs

I know I really do that you do not mean to wrong me, but please I beg you just drop the gay route and let the waifu war chips fall as they may; I will do the same. Just let this happen how it is going to. Without us.
>>
>>1354927

although usually you have to contend with the

>reee all female mcs are shits
or
>reee we don't care how often you say she's straight we want Yuri
>>
>>1354981
strait bi or gay females all all fine from my or people like mines viewpoint, it's probably why they are usually chosen as mc's because no matter the players choice it'll be fine to the entire player base. Gobble fucked with the formula and didn't give us the choice this time, I pray it does not leave me outside in the cold so I can actually enjoy the variance.
>>
>>1354927
>I would prefer you obsess about the formative psychology of pizza's to be honest, I cannot into gay not matter how much I try.

Okay, but only because you asked.

Do I have same-sex feelings because I sucked dicks as a young child, or did I suck dicks because of latent same-sex feelings? I can't know. The whole thing is weird for me. I see women who I'm attracted to all the time. Every now and then, mostly among my friends, I see guys who I am attracted to. Faces mostly, but also some muscles and abdomens.

I don't know what I would do if I actually found out one of them was attracted to me. It's hard enough getting intimate with a girl. And when I think about a boy doing things I would love to have a girl do, I don't feel the same way. I wouldn't want a guy to suck my dick. But I can masturbate in Dick rating threads. I feel attraction in some ways and repulsion in others. It's really frustrating.

So I just call myself "mostly straight" in my head, pretend to be 100% straight to everyone I know, and let my homo out on the Internet.

It was weird for a while when they wouldn't let any male who had had sexual contact of any kind with another male donate blood. I had to make up excuses about why I wasn't going to donate. And when I did find out the rules had changed, and I asked the volunteer about the "rule changes," she asked "you mean about men who have sex with other men?" out loud and I was super embarrassed.

Once my mom asked "did you know [old neighbor] came out as gay?" And I said "oh wow, and after all those girlfriends." Even though what I was thinking was "Well no shit, I sucked dick."

I'm supporting Keira anyways. I doubt there's even enough boylove support here to justify even one noncanon bin. I'm just real vocal about it, so it might seem that way.

Even if I think Polu and Herb would be really cute together regardless of anything on the bedroom, I know that the plurality will rule. And that will be in favor of a cute girl.

Anyways, I want you to enjoy the quest as much as I am. Don't worry about not being able to into gay. I know It's not wrong for me to vote for what I want. But I can choose to pursue the route that'll be most fun for everyone, instead of magical realming with a pursuit of a gay male relationship. It'll just be difficult because of how cute Herb is.
>>
>>1355039
I feel you man, I grew up in an atmosphere of homophobia and though on an intellectual level I know better on a deeper level I can't see gay shit without finding it kind of creepy, and while I wish it wasn't the case it is.

While I wouldn't try to sidetrack the path of such things on my own I have to think that there are others in the same position as me that are just not brave and or drunk as me to speak their position.

anyway I can at least agree with you that Herb is a cute, though the cute that I find him is entirely non-sexual. Like a puppy, A puppy is cute as fuck but you don't want to fuck it.

Stop being a killjoy
The quest is a form of entertainment, and the speculation and post update discussion is just as much a part of it as the updates themselves and the lewd pics, let people have their fun

It's not even pointless either, the discussion that pizzaanon and similar anons create makes an active and positive community that make this quest a treat to read and (from what gobble's said) run, aswell as gives gobble plenty of ideas for direction, how to flesh out characters and generally run this amazing community heavy quest. If you'd read the post game chat you'd see plenty of additions to the quests that came from these discussions, like the sleep over, polu and jane screen time and the lewdbins

Leave anons to the USEFUL and FUN discussion section, don't be a killjoy

Gotta say, this wasn't the sort of conversation I expected to come up and be so civil, but I'm happy about it. And for the record, I totally feel you, man. I was raised Catholic, and for a long time I felt like I and to convince myself that I didn't like dudes.

As of just a couple years ago, I've accepted that I'm bi, and to her credit, my mom was super supportive of me when I worked up the courage to tell her. I haven't told anyone else in my family, but most of my friends know, and I'm in a pretty damn good relationship with a guy I knew for a long time who's response to me coming out to him was more or less a sigh of relief.

Not sure what this had to do with anything, but as long as we're sharing, I figured I may as well chime in and let you know your situation isn't unusual, and that in all likelihood, things are going to turn out just fine for you, man.
>>
>>1355767
I was in a much more confused place about the whole thing a couple of years ago, but I talked to a counselor about it and that really helped.

When I said I called myself "mostly straight" in my head, I didn't mean that I was repressing anything. I genuinely just feel a moderate amount of attraction towards some men.

There was never any religious guilt to it. I just know that if I said "Oh, I have gay feelings but not enough to actually act on them" I'd look like I just wanted attention. Even though it's genuine.

So I've resolved to enjoy what feelings I have and not force anything. I'll be honest about it if I'm ever in a serious relationship. Until then, as long as I'm honest with myself, I don't really feel any need to tell anyone else about it.

I'm glad to hear things went well for you too.
>>

>>
This is probably the most heartfelt thread downtime I've seen in a while.

I can't say I've ever been attracted to dudes beyond wondering what it would be like to blow a guy, and around the time I could easily assume 'probably not all that hot' I moved on.

That said, I've expanded my porn tastes in far stranger directions. If I ever did cast stones, the falling glass would crush me before I had the chance to bleed out from all the cuts.

>>1356638
>>1356649
Backing this question. I knew someone who was asexual that absolutely loved yaoi manga, and she was never able to explain it clearly enough for me to get.
>>
>>1356649
It's a designation that makes sense to me. Saying that I have a low sex drive or libido wouldn't be true as such, but I don't get attracted to people. It's undirected. The idea of sex acts turns me on, but actual people don't. So porn is good enough for me.

Yeah, I'm right there with you. I think that's really the only way to be.
>>
>>1356657
>>1356672
Or, alternatively, I'm in the grey area. Low levels of attraction. I'm not ruling that one out. Only physical attraction, mind; I've had emotional crushes in the past. Apparently some people call them squishes, because they're not as hard as crushes or something silly like that. It's a kind of "I want to hang out with them forever and stay up all night talking about awesome stuff" kind of feeling.

>>1356654
Related to the above, sorta: it might be similar to my own taste for yuri manga. I must be the only guy for whom lesbian sex does nothing for; no dicks involved means I can't sympathise with it. I just love it for the emotional content. Although it might be different; yuri is apparently not as sexual as yaoi in general, I don't read enough yaoi to know.
>>
>>1356679
Yuri does seem to have a lot more time invested in the romance. When I go on my romance kicks, I occasionally search for that tag in particular for my stories.
>>
>>1356679
>no dicks involved means I can't sympathise with it.

but does she really know all that much about fashion?

She also isn't very impartial, as she wants the D from one of the contestants

What if we assembled a panel of judges made up of Keira, a crewmate, and an odd number of random bar denisens
>>
>>1364462
If it's anything like "Cheers" it'll be hard to find truly random patrons.

Maybe we could pull some people from the street? Or maybe there's an authority that bandanna challenges usually go to for judging.

I'm sure Popeye has something in mind. If we do get to pick one of the judges, we could have Laki bring Val down.

Actually, I'm really wondering just how much exposure this guy has had to mainland culture vs Loanan. It'd be tough if we end up dressing in mainlander style to please people with islander aesthetic standards.
>>
>>1364587
Well the guy is a pirate and seems to be handling mainland fashion as one of his goods so i'd have to say that his knowledge is somewhat higher than the average islander, but hey maybe it's like in France in our world where everyone is obsessed with what Hollywood made the mainland looked like in the 80s and everyone wants Letterman jackets or something like that.

>>1364462
I don't think it really matters if the judges know anything about fashion, the contest might just end up being who made this guy look the best and in that regard anyone could serve as a judge and it's just a crap-shoot in regard to those judge or judges personal tastes in fashion. I wouldn't be opposed to a three person or five person judging panel. Even split of Keria, crew-members, and bar patrons or random people could all work.
