>>Information

This quest, as the title suggests, takes place in the world of Dragon Ball. You're playing as a twenty-three year old man named Tofoo, and will adventure through the story of the Dragonball series alongside characters such as Goku, Yamcha, Bulma, Tien, and many others. Through your actions, you can make significant changes to the story, and perhaps even become the strongest fighter on Earth.

>Rules

At the end of each update you'll have ten minutes to vote on options. Write-ins are allowed, but I do reserve the right to veto them.

In the event of a draw, the option to receive the next vote wins

Rolls will be used on certain occasions, such as attempting a technique for the first time or attempting something extremely difficult. You will have three rolls, and if one succeeds, you succeed. There are no crits.

Rolls are made AFTER an option wins, not during the voting process

I hope everyone has fun.

"We could throw a huge feast to thank the Grand Kai for saving Earth," you suggest. "And we could invite the lesser Kais as well."

"Well, I suppose we could try," Kami tells you with a sigh. "It's hardly proper, but given that the King Kai of the Northern Quadrant has trained you and several of your friends, and the Grand Kai himself has saved this world, holding a feast in celebration of them is probably something we could get away with."

"Shall I begin preparing a feast, Kami?" Mr. Popo asks from nearby.

Kami looks toward his friend. "Not yet. Let's find out if the Kais will be attending first. And Tofoo, what exactly do you hope to learn from them?"

>A. King Kai pretty much taught you all he knows, but the other three probably have other techniques

>B. The Grand Kai is the ruler of all the Kais, he has to know some great moves!

>C. You aren't sure, but desperate times call for desperate measures

I'll third, but we should also probably invite some of our friends. Since the others might be able to learn something that we can't or benefit them more. Like how King Kai's techniques had some restrictions to them.

"King Kai pretty much taught me all he knows, but the other three must know some good techniques," you tell Kami. "And the Grand Kai's in charge of them all. He has to know some things."

Kami nods. "Yes, that's surely true. However, asking any of them to take the time to train you may be a bit much. I'd caution you to temper your expectations, and maybe try to get them to point you in the right direction. And that's if we can even get them to agree to come."

"Capsule Corp can help prepare a big feast no problem," you tell Kami. "With Popo's cooking, we'll have plenty. But maybe we should get Suno and Chi-Chi to cook for the party, too."

"Just how many people do you plan to invite?" Kami asks, raising a brow.

Kami needs to give himself more credit. He's OG as fuck.
Grand Kai probably wouldn't care anyways.
>>
I propose that during we party we attempt to propose to everyone to train together. That way we can keep checks on everyone so that they don't end up being jobbers when the time comes, promote teamwork, and so that everyone can learn more efficiently by learning from the others as well instead of keeping themselves in their bubbles.
>>
>>1358872
I think we should just straight up ask who wants to keep doing this. Krillin and Chi Chi have a kid and unlike Goku and us don't have access to a bullshit power up or being the main character.

Yamcha REALLY needs to decide when he's going to get serious.
>>
>>1358880
He's trying to get serious

Just not necessarily about martial arts
>>
>>1358883
Is he gonna be the Michael Jordan of baseball again?

We can turn that to our advantage.
>>
>>1358880
This.

They can fight out of a sense of obligation if they want, but we should tell them that it's alright to bow out and retire.

Master Roshi and Ox King made a big deal about stepping down so that our generation could have more room to grow and sooner or later, our generation will have to make the same call.
>>
>>1358888
I mean, he's already dating Lazuli

>>1358885
He already is, he's basically putting his life and career on hold right now for the good of the Earth, but when all's said and done, he might just retire from martial arts
>>
>>1358889
I mean shit...we were pretty much the savior of the planet at 13. Our time left at the top is numbered.
Better do what Roshi's generation did and give the next generation something to strive to and surpass.
>>
>>1358894
Yeah, but for the Buu Saga.

Cell Saga we kickin' ass.
>>
>>1358894

"Well then, I'll ask King Kai to get in touch," you tell Kami, lifting your head to look up at the sky. "Hey, King Kai!"

A mix of these.

We wanna train with the Kais somehow because otherwise Earth is fucked so we are gonna throw this party to try to convince them

"Everything's good for the time being, but...." you begin, before filling King Kai in on the situation, and telling him about the warning you were given by Trunks.

"Hold on, time travel?!" King Kai asks in absolute disbelief. "How the blazes did you Earthlings figure out how to do that?!"

"Anyway, I want to throw a celebration to honor you and the Grand Kai for helping keep the Earth safe," you tell King Kai. "I want to invite the other Kais too. Hopefully I can convince them and Grand Kai to teach us some things."

"ARE YOU OUT OF YOUR MIND?!" King Kai screams in your head. "YOU CAN'T JUST ASK THE GRAND KAI TO TRAIN YOU!"

Kami gives you a look as you instinctively cover your ears to block out the yelling.

"Buuuut, I wouldn't mind showing off some of my star pupils to the other Kais," King Kai tells you. "So I'll be sure to invite them."

"Oh, don't your worry about that," King Kai tells you. "I'm always prepared to make 'em laugh!"

As King Kai falls silent, you look to Kami, and tell him that King Kai is contacting the others, including the Grand Kai.

"Well, that's wonderful news," Kami tells you, sounding impressed. "The Kais, gathered on my Lookout, and the Grand Kai himself."

Kami falls silent, and his eyes widen.

"T-the Kais on my Lookout, and the Grand Kai himself...." he stammers nervously.

Turning, he dashes toward the building. "I need to make sure that everything's perfect!"

"Hold on a second!" you shout to Kami. "Can you tell me where to find Master Mutaito?"

Kami stops, turning toward you with a surprised expression on his face.

"Mutaito?" he asks.

>>
>>1359061
>>1359048
"No, I didn't," you tell him. "I knew his time was short, but I didn't think it was THAT short."

Kami sighs. "He was near the end of his natural life when he confronted King Piccolo all of those years ago. The Black Star balls brought him back to life, but did not save him from the ravages of age. He pushed his body past its limits many times while he was returned to the living, perhaps knowing that he was near his end and hoping to make the most of it. In any case, he passed away peacefully, and I am certain that he will reach heaven, or receive the honor of training under the Kais."

"So, is that why Roshi and Shen haven't been around?" you ask.

"Perhaps, though it's my understanding that the two are hermits in any case," he replies.

Taking a moment, you feel for the energies of Roshi, Shen, and Chun, but are only able to locate the Turtle Hermit, his energy transmitting from his island.

"Thanks for your help," you tell Kami.

"Of course," the old Namekian says with a kind smile. "Let me know when you hear from King Kai."

Assuring him that you will, you rush to the edge of the Lookout, leaping off the side and beginning to fly in the direction of Kame House. Looking down, you can see a pair of figures rushing through the trees, chasing after a deer. It seems your old friends are still keeping watch over the Land of Korin.

It's not long before you reach the ocean, and soon spot Kame House in the distance. Drawing closer, you spot Turtle lounging on the sand, and Master Roshi passed out in one of his beach chairs, a magazine on his face.

Some things never change.

As you land, Turtle looks your way with a smile.

"Hello, Tofoo!" he greets in a pleasant voice.

Roshi talks in his sleep as you approach, and you're pretty sure the kinds of things he's saying would probably prompt Bulma to give him one of her legendary slap attacks.

Removing the magazine from his head, you then proceed to shake him awake.

"Ah, Tofoo," Roshi greets with a yawn. "What's going in?"

1)Get our body to react against attacks we can't sense or cut the reaction time further(part of base training)
2)healing/ki manipulation invented by Mutaito
>develop new/improving old techniques
1)golden shout
2)nail gun
3)improve ki blade
-length
-electricity
-blunt ki fist
-add to our legs instead of our arms kick slashes
4)Instant transmission
5)improve afterimage
6)dodonpa
7)kikoho
8)shin bear claw(basically ki nails, pretty simple)
9) ki shield/sheath(what it sounds like)
-prism shield
-warp shield
-bear skin
-hungry bear skin
-planet burst geysers
-kami/spirit breathing
-absorption field
>learning instant transmission
as stated above, but with added importance
>kick ass finisher
1)Bear maul(Wolf Fang Fist + Ki Sword + Bear Shout combo)
2)Kodaik Crash/Kurma crusher(Dragon fist but with a bear, name still in development)
3)Golden Roar(bear roar+golden shout or super golden shout)
4)Kuma-kenx2?(probably shouldn't focus on this at all due to most likely being extremely difficult and too much time being needed to develop this despite high chance of failure or stagnation. Still deserves a mention though)

"This sounds serious," Roshi tells you, stroking his beard. "It's hard to believe that the Red Ribbon Army is coming back yet again. Then again, I suppose we should be used to old enemies popping up over and over again."

The Turtle Hermit has gotten out of his chair, and paces back and forth along the beach on his island as Turtle dozes off nearby.

"Yep, you kids definitely have your work cut out for you," he says, stopping to gaze out at the ocean.

"I'll say," you respond with a sigh. "Did Mutaito leave behind his teachings on energy control?"

"Only what he taught Shen and I prior to the tournament," Roshi answers. "I don't know how much of it would be of use to you, especially since you're fighting machines. Shen's energy-blocking techniques would do you no good, and you can already control your own energy with the best of them. And I'm not sure the Mafuba would work on machines, either. I'm afraid there isn't much that I could teach you."

"Well, do you know where Shen and Chun are?" you ask.

"Shen has gone back into seclusion," Roshi tells you. "And I doubt that he's in the same place as before. This time, he doesn't seem to want anybody to find him. And I'm not sure where Jackie Chun has gone. A far as I know, you may have seen the last of him."

You land beside the woman, who looks away from the ground as she turns to regard you with a look of relief.

"Mr. Tofoo," she greets in a sweet voice. "I'm glad you're here. Maybe you can help us out."

"What's going on?" you ask the woman, who you realize actually looks pretty familiar.

She looks down, tears appearing in her eyes. "It's horrible. Someone....someone killed Johnson, one of our best scientists. And if that wasn't bad enough, whoever did it stole an experimental new capsule Doctor Briefs developed; a space ship!"

"A space ship?" you ask.

The woman nods. "Yes, Doctor Briefs was talking about making space ships available to the public. In fact, a lot of the scientists were arguing with him about it. There was this whole debate about whether or not it was right or safe to sell something like that."

"So nobody saw what happened to this new capsule?" you ask.

She shakes her head. "No, we broke for lunch, and when we came back, Johnson was lying on the ground with a bullet wound in his head. The capsule was gone."

"So, why are you searching the grounds?" you ask.

The woman's eyes shift back and forth. "Well, nobody saw where the murderer went, and security says they didn't see anybody leaving the grounds. So, we think that the thief is still on the grounds, and may have stashed the capsule somewhere."

"Have the police been called?" you ask.

The woman shakes her head. "No. Doctor Briefs was confident that the capsule would turn up, or that you'd be able to figure out what happened."

"Good to know that Doctor Briefs has faith in me," you tell the woman. "I'll do my best."

She smiles gratefully at you. "I know you will. Good luck."

You rush off to the lab, finding Doctor Briefs rifling through his drawers as security officers seem to examine every centimeter of the room.

"Hey, who are-" one of the guards starts before stopping dead."Oh, sorry Mr. Tofoo."

Three guards stand huddled around a figure on the ground, the body of Johnson. As you approach, you see that the woman's information was correct; he was killed by a shot to the head.

"Damn shame," one of the guards comments. "Johnson was a good guy."

Well shit. Anyone who had an opinion on public availability of spaceships has a motive.
But why they'd go for Johnson and not Dr. Briefs or Bulma, I'm not sure.
Does anyone have a personal grudge against Johnson?
What was Johnson's opinion (if any) on public availability of spaceships?
>>
>>1360916
>>1360919
"Have you guys found anything?" you ask.

The guards shake their heads. "Not a thing. Whoever did this didn't leave us much to go on. All we can tell is where the shooter was standing, over by the table where the capsule had been placed."

"Well, did you see anybody suspicious around today?" you ask.

"Nobody out of the ordinary was here today," the guards assure you. "At least not before the cameras went out at about ten this morning. We only got them back online about an hour ago."

Great, so there's an entire window of time where someone could have slipped in or out of Capsule Corp. Wonderful.

Deciding that the guards won't be of much help, you make your way over to Doctor Briefs, who continues to search through the drawers. His cat turns around on his shoulder, letting out a little "meow" in your direction.

"Hmm?" Doctor Briefs asks, glancing toward his cat before turning to face you. "Ah, Tofoo, good to see you're here. What can I do for you?"

I'll go with this, but honestly there's a pretty good chance he was just in the wrong place at the wrong time. It's more likely that a potential competitor or third party merc stole the latest design from capsule corp to sell to the highest bidder. This also could have been an inside job. Then again, we can't discount anything just yet. The thievery may have been a cover up for a revenge ploy against johnson.

"What can you tell me about the capsule?" you ask your father-in-law.

"Oh, nothing too special," he tells you. "I just took one of the spaceship designs that Bulma and I worked on, and altered it to be capsulized. It could have been the next big thing, and opened entirely new industries."

"Was anybody acting suspicious today?" you ask him.

Briefs thinks for a moment. "Not as far as I can remember. Just some arguing. Oh! And Oolong was sneaking around near Lazuli's old room."

Okay, so nothing out of the ordinary.

"What did Johnson think about making the capsule available to the public?" you inquire.

"He didn't seem to mind, but he did mention that he was worried about people being irresponsible with it," the doctor explains.

Another question pops into your head. "Do you know where Oolong is now?"

But why shoot johnson? Lapis, with both his training and his clearance as an employee, would easily have been able to steal it without killing anyone, and why would he need a gun? Unless of course there is no gun, lazer technology doesn't exist on earth, they use regular guns. If we can have them check for the residue left behind, and question anyone if they heard gun shots, then we can potentially narrow down the culprits by a wide margin. Fuck, I'm way too into this.

Well, I think we need to check the cameras. See -how- they were sabotaged. That'll give us our perp's skillset.
We might also be able to find clues, like DNA or hair or something, on the cameras. Or, even if we don't find anything, we know our guy's pretty damn thorough.

So we know someone had a gun on the campus and can mess with cameras, plus he picked up the capsule and buggered off without anyone noticing.

However, there's a problem
If Mark, a security guard, can be KO'd unsuspectingly, that means either:
Our perp has a valid reason to be in the security office, so Mark wasn't alarmed
-or-
Our perp is capable of KOing a guard who should be paying attention.
If our perp is capable of KOing an alert guard, he didn't -need- to kill Johnson, he could have just knocked Johnson out. Unless Johnson knew too much.

So, who was Johnson meeting with earlier that day? Perhaps Johnson knew the perp.
Also, whoever shot him was obviously in the room with him. No hair / dna / evidence left behind?

What type of bullet was used?
It wouldn't surprise me if most of our staff was armed, given their line of work. So is this from a Capsule Corp gun, or from the perp's own custom gun?
If it's a custom gun, we can track him from seeing which Capsule Corp employees have non-standard weapons.
If it's a Capsule Corp gun, we see which guns have either:
A. Not shown up for end of day inspection yet, or
B. Shown up for end of day inspection missing a bullet.
>>
>>1361329
So that's our leads.
See who Johnson met with earlier today
Check how the cameras were sabotaged
See what type of gun was used, and check who would have such a gun
And of course look for physical residue.

Then let's use the Pendulum Room.
Rollin' for effectiveness
>>
>>1361329
Then there's the issue of the fact no gun shots were heard. We really need to have someone check if it was even a gun. I think they might have been shot with a beam. We know that earh doesn't have this tech, which would mean someone with ki capabilities, which would also explain how the guard was so easily knocked, but not how they sabotaged the cameras. A high level hitman may also be responsible, if he had a silencer it would explain alot. We can't lead on anything until we have someone check to see if there's any gun residue. From there we have leads to go on.

"Wait, we can find out how the cameras were sabotaged, or see what was recorded before they went off, or search for DNA, or-" you ramble before Oolong cuts you off.

"Tofoo, do you have any idea of how to do any of that?" he asks.

I wanna solve this without using the Time Hax room or without contacting the spirit world or without doing that stuff.

"Good point," you tell him. "I guess I could use that room at the Lookout to see what happened."

Oolong gives you a look of confusion. "What are you talking about?"

You explain to him that there's a room within Kami's Lookout that can transport you back in time to any location you want. You could use it to find out who shot Johnson.

"Wait, you could have done that all along?" Oolong asks. "Then what was the point of playing detective?!"

Seriously what was the point of this thread? Why include a mystery of we're not actually supposed to solve it?

"Well that's fine, but maybe stick to doing it in ways you know about," Oolong tells you. "Do you even know how a camera works? Or how to check for DNA? If you want us to solve this on our own, then fine, but don't think you're suddenly a super genius."

"Let's go check on that unconscious guard," you suggest. "Maybe we'll find a way to get some information out of him."

The two of you leave the security station, and make your way to the infirmary.

Wonder if tien wants a regular job? Free training equipment.

You know what they say about those Sanjiyan Unkara, "Around the Threes, you better freeze"!
>>
I hope that we can completely remove one of the main story arc antagonists as if they weren't even an issue later, kinda like how in this what if scenario Buu is disposed of before he even awakens at all and Dabura passes for a "final boss"

http://dragonball.wikia.com/wiki/Destined_Rivals
>>
>>1363336
I'd actually be on board with this if not for the fact that we'd have no chance of getting Mystic Mode if we get rid of Buu before he's a problem.
>>
>>1364007

Ultimately mystic wouldn't be worth anything considering in super gohan was a total jobber.

Although considering it better, that was less Gohan being weak and more toriyama asspulling yet another SSJ level above the previous one that has such a huge power multiplier that it completely shits on how mystic turned base form into a shitwrecker.

I guess that even if buu doesn't happen, probably mystic could be triggered during Beerus or golden freezer at worst, and the gains would be even better due improved potential and all.

Anyways, I was more interested in bypassing Cell than Buu. With Tofoo being much more pragmatical and less retarded than Vegeta, he wouldn't stupidly let a base Cell eat shit and become semi and perfect cell. That's it, if Cell has different forms at all as Tofooverse Cell/android saga is deviating more from canon than it happened with other sagas and Cell might not even need to eat androids to power up and be that strong by default
>>
>>1364007
Mystic is for the children, you monster.
>>
>>1364085
>Mystic is for the children
If we play as Trunks after the 7 years of peace, sure.
Otherwise Tofoo is gonna need to defend Earth again.
>>
>>1364037
You and I both know Perfect Cell is happening in this quest.
Som wouldn't pass on writing his dialogue. It'd just be too fun to not do.
>>
>>1364222

But perfect cell is shit. It's just him being smug because a retard let him become overpowered. Otherwise he's just a coward who begs for mercy and a chance to get stronger when he's not horribly overpowered.

I mean, how is perfect cell any different from Freezer? But of them were the generic "fu fu fu, i'm so awesome and you are just a pest. Amuse me, little thing while I stay idle tanking like a boss your puny attacks" smug final boss

Hopefully Kori won't end up a jobber like Gohan.

I'm looking forward to when she goes super for the first time and we decide to spar with her for fun and end up dead to bad choices and rolls.

those same children will be smeared into monoatomic paste if we fail. Its not like only one person can ever benefit.

Yuru Yuri, it's about a girl with no presence being surrounded by lesbians.
>>
>>1364955
I have be rereading the quest over the last 2 weeks while on medical leave and last night I had a dream that Tofoo was making a wish on the dragonballs, but we didn't know what to wish for, so we wished for Launch's personalities to have their own separate bodies so that they could live their own lives.

Now I'm trying to figure out what the moral and story implications would be of such a wish...
>>
>>1365479
>the moral and story implications
Lapis gets incredibly mad at us.
>>
>>1365552
Or Lapis learns about polygamy.
>>
>>1365552

He seems to be wild enough to dig threesomes and in fact thank Tofoo
>>
>>1365569
>>1365573
It's like you think her two halfs could share.
>>
>>1365751
I mean, from a logically stand point, of course he would have to choose, and he would probably choose blonde launch while blue launch probably moved back into Kame House.

But from and Ero standpoint... Lapis rollin' in tiddies, you see?
>>
I started a new game in Dragonball Fusions and made Tofoo, what should I set his strong point as?
Power
Speed
Technique?
>>
>>1368113
Technique
>>
>>1368113
Power is garbage outside of a few late game characters, and speed is good but inconsistent. Technique is good for the entire game, and also fits Tofoo the best.
>>
So we need 5 Saiyans for Super Saiyan God, and we've only got two. Who's left to get? The one in space from the Great Acid Job? Broly and Paragus?
>>
>>1371146
Well I think that we can safely assume that goku will have a second kid after the cell saga which makes three saiyans. If kori takes videl's place and gets pregnant by then thats four saiyans. I'm not sure how to get five though, maybe we remember tarble and teleport to him via IT, or goku ends up having three kids instead of two. Kori could also get married earlier than gohan did and have two kids of her own instead of one. He have options, juat depends on som I guess.
>>
>>1368128
That fits so well
>>
>>1371146

Som could easily change the number of saiyans needed. I mean, he told canon to fuck off many times, and reducing by one or two the number of saiyans needed or outright change the requirements/not use super red/blue at all sounds like something that could happen
>>
>>1371344
>>1371500

I think SOM has said Tarble is going to show up, or at least strongly hinted at Tarble showing up.

He is the Saiyan King now.

And if he shows up before the Broly stuff, he could very well have Paragus going after Tarble instead of Vegeta since he had a hateboner for the entire royal bloodline.

So I've been reading DBZ human quest in my down time and I just finished thread 139. What the fuck SOM...
>>

Things get better.
>>
>>1382624
I didn't mean it in a bad way actually, I just thought it was funny. I'm halfway through through the DBZ human quest super and I have to say that overall I enjoyed the quest. Makes me wish I could have been part of it. Also it gave me a couple of ideas for skills.
>>
>>1384063
Like what? I also missed some threads while reading through it too, as well with Soms saiyan quest, never found the thread where they confronted Freiza or met Grandpa Gohan
>>

develop telekinesis, train ourselves to actually restrain an opponent, suplex.
>>
>>1384100
Haven't read Som's saiyan quest. So far just dragonball quest and human quest. I do want to read saiyan quest after though. I'm also probably gonna tackle Easil's drunk arcosian quest at some point. Maybe saiyan monkey quest after that. Between these quest threads, the super anime and manga, and xenoverse 2 I have really gotten back into dragonball.
