Greetings.

Our quarry has been tracked to a local hotel known as the Core. Since we know Father Meloch is armed and dangerous, we're going in after him, both as a courtesy and because leaving him for the local government forces would be way out of their somewhat beleaguered paygrade.

The hotel has 6 floors and we don't know which one our target is in. We'll be going in through the roof (BELLEPHERON) and through the ground floor (HERACLES).

Our job is simple. Find Meloch, apprehend him, and close the case. Then we're done here and can pull out before anyone is the wiser.

As usual, we're not expecting heavy resistance but we didn't either last time and it pays to recall how that all went down.

Father Meloch is a cornered thaumatheurge, and he most likely has a few terrible tricks up his sleeve. Grab when you see him and don't give hime time to work up some sort of final play.

Remember that is a hotel on the outskirts of a city. While the clientelle likely aren't exacty the movers and shakers, we don't need to fill out more paperwork than is absolutely neccessary and civilians in the crossfire never looks good. I don't want more bodybags coming home than there needs to, people.

It is possible that Meloch and his goons have inserted themselves among the hotel staff and guests. Look for anyone twitchy, with tattoos and a bad haircut - and anyone going for their guns. There's a fine line between due care and digging a new grave.

To re-iterate:

Get Father Meloch - preferably alive
Avoid civilial casualties
Avoid undue collateral. Our insurance don't cover full-scale interior remodelling.

If you see anything else of note, call it in and we'll proceed from there.

I did want to keep my build as identical to when I originally made it as possible, but sure - if only so that I don't have basically the same loadout as someone else.

Grouping all the civies somewhere we can oversee would be a good middle ground but right now we don't know if any of these might be a cultist.

These three areas look good because 1) they're walled off so no stray bullets or cultist kamikaze jumping on them 2) they only have one access which can be guarded easily 3)they're near an exit.

Thread-codes aren't consistent - they change on location. This can happen multiple times per thread. They will change with a new thread.

Command has never really enforced the trip dependency, but on the off-chance you worry about security they are commended because they are consistent.

But it's not truly a neccessity anymore, no. We usually use them to ctrl+f people quickly when data is needed, but Command uses the [A+B] + [NUMBER] code for that (which is why I'm being a stickler for them - there's a lot of background data for me to manage in this game, and I absolutely need to be able to locate you in thread quickly)

Ah, apologies - yes, that is what you are. But as a Technopath, you hack to your hearts content without needing a nodejack or anything but your own brain. The processing aptitude is just the ability to Hack. Some people need the training. Some people do it naturally with their brain.

And that brain can, if you like, download datapackges. Think of it like a gun for your cortex. Those "Talents" are actually program packages. You can equip = PROC, as you like. Each one boosts some aspect of hacking, or allows you to do something fancy.

You don't have to, but if you like, you could load yourself up with 4 [Stilleto] packages and then have hack STR of 4. Or 3 Stilletos & an Ewar and have a constant brain-stungun.

I thought I'd tell you because it's a significant bit to be missing. But you don't have to utilize those abilities.

The molotov fire won't move. Father Meloch is an Entropist, not a pyromancer so he can't sic the fire on you.

As for the fire on you, it's 12 /now/. You'd have to spend 12 to put it out. You'd still take 12 damage. Next it'll be 6 - and 6 puts it out. And so on.

Sometimes it's better to just let the flames burn themselves out while you duck and shoot. Sometimes you don't want to burn.

Last question (I promise), how does the penalty due to using a smoke works? A set malus to aiming?

Does it apply even if I'm firing my GL at a set point without aiming at anthing in particular?
Ex: I want to shoot the red cross but it doesn't matter as long as it's somewhat en target.

Yeah, it does. The smoke is representational of the chaos and makes it difficult for everyone. No "I target the square theyre in to avoid their defense". Everyone always get their allot defense attempt.

It's -5% per square with smoke, as a penalty to anyone shooting through it.

A miss with GL will still produce results because the grenade will go off. It might just scatter by a bit (never close to the shooter unless its set to bounce and bounces off of a wall)

Here is what we can do: Bellepheront squad gets Seralin and you call the helicopter. After all the bots are wiped out, Arkul gets the people up here.

Thing is, that amount of heavy firepower could easily hit one of these terminals we got here.
Best case scenario the terminal breaks, worst case scenario this whole floor blows up. And then, no icon can save us.
Or at least, i don't think so.

Rough plan going forward: ACHILLES moves back to the lobby with some of HERACLES while the rest of HERACLES warps via Voidgaze to hold Floor 5 for the meanwhile. I think that there are more robots in those damn elevator shafts on the lobby and on floor 1, watch out.

I want Bilk moved to Floor 5, if he wouldn't mind, to try his holographic keycard on the central terminal. If that doesn't work and Icarus feels up to it, he could try hacking the terminal directly (I will give the largest boost that I can).

I wanted to push into the compound further but I don't think that the brute-force approach would be the best. Taking out the central computer might be enough to hack into the rest of the network. If it isn't, we can download a copy and get out of there -- the cyborg suits are too milspec for us to handle and it sounds like the AI has them on every floor.
