Night had fallen over Iti'a'Ropku, the last glow of sunset fading on the horizon but the city was far from shrouded in darkness. Not only did the city glow with thousands of lights emitted from the windows of buildings and lamps along the paths of canals and streets but also the dancing aurora of lights that appeared in the sky during the winter months on the cold world. Iti'a'Ropku was easy to spot from orbit, a shining beacon of light among the darkness with smaller clusters of glimmering light from various outposts and buildings scattered across the world.

Iti'a'Ropku was more than a city of lights though and as one followed the flow of the citizenry they found themselves drawn toward the chaos of noise and excitement that bubbled over from the Colosseum at the edge of the city. A tunnel of hard-light flashes into being over one of the main thoroughfares as a pair of hover-craft roar past sending a shower of sparks into the air as the racers scrape against each other, the tunnel fading quickly after they had passed.

Inside the Colosseum itself was a riot of the senses. The air was filled with the scents of the dozens of various food stalls that locals had built to serve their own creations from their various cultures mingling with the ever-present haze of the narcotikelp smoke and the distinct smell of blood underneath it all. Crowds cheered and shouted as Tyrre gladiators dueled with packs of Trolls in vicious claw-to-claw melees.

Yet silence fell among the crowds, the once empty stands now at least partially filled with the recently adopted populace from Kanda, as the ringleader, a human woman standing on a hover platform that glided over the bloodied sands as the injured and dead were taken from the fields. Her booming voice carried over the speakers around the Colosseum as she grandly announced the next event.

"Welcome, one and all! Tonight we shall once again witness the skill and power of our greatest contestants! You know them and you either love or hate them depending on how well you gamble," she paused for a crowds laughter then continued as the platform swings around at perilous speeds, her arms snapping open, "It is my pleasure to welcome to the Colosseum once more, the Butcher's Terrible Twins!"

As she drew out the name most dramatically hatch slid open in the middle of the arena floor and a platform rose up bearing the twin epikor soldiers, nameless and fearless they wore grandly shaped armor detailed with bladed scales like an Ahkams, their helms reminiscent of Vle'Karak's own visage. They lifted their axes into the air and saluted to the crowds by thumping their fists to their chest then turning to bow where a Harbinger sat high above watching.

The ringleader waited for the cheering and boos to calm down before announcing their first opponents for the night and a pack of cloned Rukorian Kryssers dart out of side-gates of the arena, the cheering surging forth once more as blood stained the ground with a fresh coat.

Welcome back to Death Among the Stars Quest!

This thread will be a bit different as it will be a continuation of the previous thread since we still need to attend to Jor and the Commanders big mission.

We can also use this thread to discuss troop designs both Legion and Reconstructed since there was talk about that in recent threads but I never got around to it (sorry)
>>

Finally here for one
>>
>>1399296
So the time line is not moving forward
Like in terms of things that are measured in the passing of threads

Can research still move forwards? It makes sence that we would make thinktanks to keep up with the expansion of things to do. Now each in game day or whatever amount of time each thread is more things need to happen that can happen in one thread
It's like civ on PC early turns are like 100 years but eventually are 1 year later in game

Am I making sense? English is hard

The floor rumbled as a nearby corridor was collapsed with a detonation of a thermal imploder, dust falling lazily from swinging light fixtures. The chamber was moderately large, once used as a hydroponics farm to grow the settlements food and filter their air, but was now used by the Necrolytes and Reconstructed soldiers to regroup and plan their next steps. Most of the tables and shelves that had been full of planters of dried and brittle plants were tipped over and used to barricade the corridors and exits of the chamber. Reconstructed guards, having no need to rest, stood guard against the probing patrols of zombies and ghouls now that the main hordes had fallen back after Jors mental encounter.

Necrolytes sat in groups, several attempting to take quick naps in the corners, others standing at a table full of ammo and weaponry to resupply. Those that still had an appetite were eating from their standard rations that each Necrolyte was given based on their species dietary needs. The Legions standard MREs mainly consisted of thick wafers made from dried kelp and armatocere fruits and protein typically in the form of either a nutrient paste, herdbeast jerky, or smoked and salted eel along with nutrient capsules that were common on Pirate vessels. In an alcove away from most of the living soldiers Reconstructed troops feasted on the remains of the zombies and ghouls, cannibalizing them to repair their damaged armor and refill the ammo of their conjoined weaponry. They even consumed scrap metal and empty ammo casings to enhance their armor, a new trait gained from the Sunscale Workers.

A large table stood in the center where demi-Think Tanks projected holographic data for the officers standing around it. A map of the underground tunnels was displayed for them, gathered by flatbody gargoyles and looms, markers showing where the undead were building barricades and even trying to collapse corridors themselves to seal off the advance of the attackers. A separate display showed the situation going on outside as Armada ships clashed with the undead masses. The Armada had given up all pretense of a spaced out assault as it seemed that nearly every flight capable craft from Junkyard, the asteroid belt, and the other moons of Spindle were en route to this single facility, the reconstructed ships moving to defend against the impossible numbers of the undead swarming toward them.

Jor sat off to the side, a Talon adjusting one of the crystal hard-light emitters of his reconstructed arm while he spoke to the Commander and the stonestar necromancer Klikli, "I somehow established a psionic connection with whatever is controlling these undead. It's got to be a necromancer of some kind, its power felt..." he trailed off and frowned.

Klikli speaks in their code-language, "It felt familiar. I thought I recognized it as well."

The human nods, "Yeah, it's a necromancer of some kind. A strong one too, if they're able to control this many undead."

"Wonderful. Should've sent Valresko to deal with this," the Commander says with a grim chuckle, "So we're dealing with a rogue necromancer. Not as dramatic as some of the bets the Legionnaire's have made but this gives us a goal at least."

The stonestar clacks a quick agreement, "Yes, we kill them and the undead lose their guidance. They will become feral and clearly become much less of a threat to us."

"Or subdue and capture them. I'm sure Lord Jadyk would wish to speak with the person that cause this whole mess," the Jor says then nods in thanks to the Talon as it finishes replacing a cracked emitter then stood, "Whatever we do, it needs to be quick."

Klikli moved to the table to assist in the planning, a netu and osjiic parting for the wide echinoderm. The Commander stopped Jor from joining as well and spoke in a low voice, "I have to agree with Klikli. Killing them may be the only choice. Was there anything else about this connection you made that could give us details?"

Jor frowned in thought and ran a hand across his shaved scalp, "While I am certain it is a necromancer controlling them, there's something strange about this. They knew about Jadyk, that isn't so surprising to be honest, but the part that bothers me is that it seemed to know who -I- was. I don't like the implications that brings up," he says in a sour tone.

"Whatever the case, we must have faith, Jor. Lord Jadyk placed his faith in us to succeed here so we must trust that we will," the osjiic says and claps a heavy hand on the humans shoulder, the necromancer nearly buckling under the blow from the towering voidsinger but he nods and they move to join the discussion at the table.

The demi-Think Tank projecting the data adjust the map as Jor points to a location beyond where the undead were setting up their barricades, "My best estimate is that our target is in this general area relative to the data we've already gained. I won't lie, there is a lot of necrotic energy down there. My guess is they're experimenting with necrotic reactors like those scrapheaps we've already seen, so keep your armor seals tight so you don't end up looking like me," there was bit of scattered chuckling.

A kosda lifts a hand, "Pardon me, First Necromancer, I just got a report from a Think Tank of a battleship in charge of the air defenses above. They've just reported that more undead are attempting to make moonfall. The dead are walking across the surface towards us. They've deployed Brutes and Requiems but our timetable is shrinking. Can you be certain this is our target?"

Jor nods, "Yes, if we can get to the source and break their connection the undead will likely revert to a feral state. Those in space would likely become harmless as I doubt they have the mental capacity to pilot their craft," he says and the kosda nods in satisfaction.

The Commander takes over, describing the limitations they faced. With the undead collapsing corridors and creating chokepoints they were restricting their ability to use their numbers and superior firepower to break through their lines. Gargoyles did report that there were some walls and floors that could be breached carefully but the undead were hunkering down.

How should the Legion and Reconstructed proceed on their mission?

As the Legionnaires and Necromancers discussed their plan of attack they were interrupted by a startled alert from a Stalker prowling the nearby corridors. It's sonar imaging was projected by the demi-Think Tank as it hides around a pile of discarded crates and shows a large number of undead charging down the halls and moments later Gargoyles reported they were heading in their direction.

The chamber became a flurry of activity then as the Commander and the officers began shouting out orders and Legionnaires jumped up from where they were resting to suit up rapidly. Those that were sleeping were barely hopping up to their feet when the sound of gunfire rang out from the Reconstructed guarding the corridors. Flayers rip into the charging masses with beams of Necrotic and Void energy that tears them apart molecule by molecule while bone rifles and shardspitters riddle them with bone and metal.

The undead pushed forward like a tide trampling their downed as they use pure numbers to surge ahead. The air tastes of ozone as the Reconstructed drop back and a pair of Necrolytes carrying lightning guns step forward and bolts of lightning leap forward to strike the first undead. The ghouls they struck jerk and shudder, their eyes bursting in their eye sockets, but the bolts leap from them to strike those behind them then chaining again and again. The smell of ozone was quickly replaced with the stench of burning flesh as the first wave was broken, the corridor piled with charred corpses that twitch spasmodically. The netu carrying one of the lightning guns begins to swear and has to eject the lightning guns pack from their powered armor as the weapon overheated and began to warp from the extreme heat then turns to take a bone rifle without pause.

At a shouted command the Armada soldiers, both undead and living, charge into the corridors to clash with the regrouping undead. The zombies and ghouls were loathe to give ground, using their numbers to pressure the armed soldiers. The undead appeared to be running out of supplies as those sent against them were unarmed save weapons of scrap metal and hardly any wore a scrap of clothing.

Jor and Klikli kneel to inspect a zombified kesh as the Commander and Rosa stand guard with a handful of Void Trolls. The stonestar prods the corpse as they look it over then clacks out, "This was freshly turned. Hardly a day or three at most."

Necromancer Jor nodded in agreement, "Very odd, I thought all the survivors died weeks ago."

>cont
>>
>>1401060
They didn't get to continue their conversation as the Commander gave a shout as several osjiic ghouls charged down the corridor at them. The massive undead made the corridor shake as they stomped their way, unbothered by the voidflayers the trolls were striking them with even as the beams stripped skin and muscle down to the bone. Colliding with the trolls they swiped with boneclaws the size of pickaxes and gnashed at them with jaws overflowing with fangs to rip into the Reconstructed.

Rosa charged in with a shout as her hard-light shield illuminated, her Reconstructed arm lifting to fire the shardspitter built into it. The flechettes riddle the skull of an osjiic ghoul that had tackled a troll to the ground and it rears back, the trolls arm falling from its teeth as it lets out a bellow of indignation only for the blade of her thermal vibroaxe to swing down and lodge itself solidly into its skull to silence it.

She was already moving onto the next, ripping the blade free as the fins of her jump-pack flare with voidlight and she is catapulted forward boot first into the face of another osjiic ghoul that was leaping at her. With another surge from the jump-pack she twisted in the air and her axe lopped off its hand at the wrist as it fell back. Years of muscle memory let her twist and land on her feet and she barely touched down before leaping forward as her shield flickers in shape into the blade of a hard-light gladius that she swings to carve a portion of its forehead and brains away. The hard-light blade flickers out and she pushes her shoulder into the heavy corpse as it slouched toward her but she pushes the dead weight back with a shout as the servos and muscles of her armor strain almost audibly to send the corpse back into another ghoul that was grappling with a troll.

Letting the human and trolls fight back against the hulking undead as more moved in behind them the Commander turns to the Necromancers and after a quick exchange of shouted words Klikli bounded forward. Claws extending from his cauldron-forged armor allowed him to scuttle along the ceiling with shocking speed to assist Rosa, each arm of his body lifting in turn as he twisted to fire a round from the necroflensers built into the armor.

Necromancer Jor took a breath and grasped his Reaver staff in front of him with both hands, Necrotic energy beginning to crackle from the glutton crystal at its top and with a grunt the directed the energy against the wall before him. The plasteel panel begins to warp and bubble as he forcefully decays and weakens the wall, the metal underneath rusting and corroding before their eyes to expose the stone underneath and even that begins to crack. Finally he pulls back and the bolt of sickly green light ceases leaving a decent sized crater disintegrated into the wall and floor as he stepped back and nodded to the Commander.

The osjiic stepped forward, his dark bone armor engulfed in shimmering voidlight that quickly ignites into the ultraviolet flames of the Void. Taking the voidscreamer that Jadyk had granted him he amplifies power with his own as he uses the powerful beam to further carve through the wall and floor at an angle until a rumble under their feet alerted them to their success as a portion falls away to reveal another corridor.

A Dirge moves forward to prop open the unstable passage as the Necrolytes and Reconstructed jump through while a Legionnaire sets a pair of thermal imploders attached to the wall to collapse the passage after them. The Commander shouts at Rosa and Klikli to fall back as Jor hops through the hole but as he watched a portion of the wall between them gave way and a undead began pouring into the corridor from the hidden passage cutting them off.

The human and stonestar fought with a shared ferocity against the undead surging toward them. Trolls leveled several Voidwave cannons at the undead and fired a spread of the chaotic void energy that nearly disintegrates the first ranks and knocks those behind them back.

Klikli spun and twisted through the air, his arms reaching out to carve through the undead with hard-light blades that erupted from three of his five limbs, his natural stingwhips sending him rocketing into the undead like a dervish of hard-light and necrotic power. Raised to fight in tunnels and caverns that were typically even more cramped the warrior turned necromancer felled many of the undead alongside the berserker human.

The Commander nearly charged forward to join them as they were cut off but Rosa shouted back at him, "Continue the mission! We'll distract them!" she gave a quick salute then dodged under a netu zombies swipe, the flat of her palm shooting upwards to break the arm at the elbow before kicking them away to turn back into the battle.

More of the undead poured into the corridor between them and Jor gave his own shout from below. Cursing in a mix of his native osjiic and wormtongue the Commander gave a mighty push of void energy that send the undead falling backwards from the gravitic attack before he dropped down through the hole.

Several seconds later as the undead picked themselves up and charged after them the imploders went off with a massive explosion of heat and pressure that obliterates many of the shambling corpses and collapses the tunnels around it as the powerful vacuum of displaced air pulls at the weakened stone and walls.

>cont
>>
>>1401071
With a shout the Commander swung a fist that left a sizable crater in the wall, voidflame engulfing his form in his anger. Jor stood nearby as the Necrolytes took a second to catch their breath as flatbody gargoyles searched ahead. After a moment the osjiic takes a breath and turns to to the soldiers under his command, "Alright, we can't tarry here for long. They'll find us here soon enough, let's get moving."

Jor hesitated at the Legionnaires quickly finished checking their ammo and securing their armors seals as the Necrotic energy detectors built into their armor started to crackle ominously. The Commander saw his hesitation and looked at him expectantly, the necromancer letting out a small sigh, "I'm sorry, Commander, I know Rosa was an important member of the Legion. Klikli will be missed as well," but he blinks in surprise as the Commander lets out a laugh.

"If there are two soldiers I know that I would expect miracles from, it is those two. You forget Klikli was a Necrolyte before he became a Necromancer. I won't say I expect them to survive but they don't need us mourning them until we see their shambling corpses ourselves," he hefts the voidscreamer and nods at Jor, "Let's keep going. We have a Necromancer to stop."

The Necrolyte Commander and Necromancer Jor have become isolated from the main forces of the Necrolytes and their Reconstructed comrades and are striding on despite their losses.

As they resuming running down the corridors Jor was encouraged by the faint presence of Klikli he could sense in the distance but as they went he felt it fade in the distance. Reaffirming his resolve with a short battleprayer to the Wormstar that the stonestar had composed he kept pace with the others as they ran. Focusing on the sensation of the necromancers presence when they reached junctions to guide them.

The passages the found themselves in were rough-hewn from the stone of the moon, new constructions thick with dust from the mining operations that swirled in the lights mounted on shoulders and weapon barrels. Waves of necrotic energy pulsed through the tunnels sending their meters crackling with each pulse.

There was mercifully a lull in the presence of the zombies as the demi-Think Tank that had managed to stay close to Jor reported that elsewhere the separate Necrolytes were falling back to positions they had set up defenses prior. This seemed to draw the attention of the undead masses, their presence likely obscured as Shadows and Looms moved ahead of them their silent strikes taking down the occasional straggler ghoul or zombie.

The Commander calls for a momentary break at a junction of several tunnels that split off in various directions, letting Jor focus on pinpointing the Necromancers location. The human sat cross legged several inches off the ground as his eyes fluttered rapidly beneath his eyelids.

As they waited the Necrolytes and Reconstructed reloaded their weaponry and caught their breath. A message was filtered through the demi-Think Tank to the Commander and after reading it projected within his helm he growls out a curse and moved to speak with Jor, his visor opening.

The necromancer had stood and rubbed his eyes with forefinger and thumb and spoke without looking at the Commander, "Alright, I'm am willing to bet my staff that I know exactly where they are," he blinks open his eyes and looks to the Commander as his helm reseals around his head, "Something wrong?" he asks.

"Got a report back from the demi-Think Tanks that have been working here. Did you know they've been taking genetic samples of the undead we've been killing and comparing them?" he asks incredulously but Jor nods in affirmation.

"Yeah I instructed them to after we noticed the oddity of their...freshness," the human says matter-of-factly.

The osjiic snorts a laugh, "Shouldn't be surprised. Either way, they were comparing their samples with the Deep Rot and the Think Tanks. From what they can tell, the undead we've been fighting for the last few hours have all been clones. Fresh ones they say, likely infected while still in the pod," he says in disgust.

>cont
>>
>>1401341
Jor nods, "That's what I was afraid of. They started to look similar and that explains how their numbers could be this strong off of just the residents of the system. I'm sure if we test the zombies elsewhere in the system you'd start to see clones mixed with the local infected."

"You're saying this as if it's obvious," the Voidsinger says dryly.

The human shrugs, "It's how I'd do it," he pauses a beat, "Actually I'd be -much- more subtle than this operation. This was just sloppy," he says critically then looks blankly at the amused look the Commander was giving him, "What?"

The osjiic just laughed and shook his head, his bone visor sealing shut, "Hard to believe you were the fat miner who cried in his sleep in a mine when I first met you."

Jor snort indignantly, "You mumbled in your sleep too, don't be a jerk," he says then jerks a thumb over his shoulder to one of the tunnels, "We go this way."

With a command to the group they set off again, Jor guiding the Gargoyles and Looms ahead of them. It didn't take long before the undead discovered them once more and threw themselves at the invaders. It did not take long for the difference in the undead to be obvious, most of them ghouls in a progressed state and armed with ranged weaponry hunkered down behind cover of stacked piles of rubble.

The pair of Dirges moved behind the foremost Trolls and Necrolytes, their telekinetic shields protecting them from the hail of bullets as they charged forward. Void and Necrotic based wave cannons flashed in the darkness of the tunnels, cones of devastating energy ripping apart both cover and ghoul to pieces in the confined spaces. The Necrolytes shouted the names of Rosa and Klikli and those of the fallen as they fought on through the increasingly desperate undead.

The Voidsingers among the squad fought near their front, their voidbone hammers reducing many of the undead to smears along the tunnels. Gravity warped at their commands and grouped efforts, ghouls and rubble send tumbling through the air as they negated the already weak gravity of the moon leaving them vulnerable to their strikes. Arcdancers dashed ahead, their bodies distorted in the darkness with the Arclight causing them to nearly fade from view to strike without warning at the undead from unexpected directions to throw them into chaos. Despite the ambient necrotic energy sapping their energy they grimly soldiered on in their determination.

The necrotic energy grew stronger as they progressed, many lowering the volume of their meters as they crackled constantly in their ears or flashed in the peripheral of their armors HUD. A kesh sniper was the one that realized that even those several of the dead ghouls they passed had grenades and other explosives but seemed to refuse to use them. This just encouraged Jor, understanding the undead did not want to compromise the tunnels they were guarding.

Finally Jor was certain they had arrived as ahead the tunnel widened and the density of undead suddenly increased and newly cloned undead charged at the shields of the trolls and Legionnaires. Dirges deflecting the bullets from the armed ghouls that hung back from the crowding zombies by clinging to the walls or standing on piles of rubble. This made them easy targets as bone rifles and spinecasters pick them off from a distance as the vanguard stand with the Commander clashing with the undead tide.

The waves of necrotic energy seemed to increase their intensity, the demi-Think Tank warning that an unstable Necrotic powersource was building up behind the armored gates at the end of the passage. With their goal made plain when Jor confirms those gates lead to the controlling source the joint forces of the Armada cut down row after row of zombie and ghoul, their armor stained a myriad of colors from the blood of nearly a dozen races. They fought with the knowledge of their comrades sacrifices fresh in their minds, striving to give meaning to their ends as they cleaves through bone and meat that threw itself so willingly into their weapons.

Foremost among the vanguard the Commander lead from the front, his hammer wreathed in Voidflame sending the zombies scattering as the other Voidsingers fought by his side. They became the wedge that broke through the defenses of the crowd and the first to reach the gates. As more and more of the undead fell the Armada forces moved quickly to mop of the remaining zombies.

The Commander and Jor were both surprised that few had suffered grave injury and only a handful of the necrolytes had fallen by the time they regrouped at the sealed gates. Few looked back to see the path of carnage they had walked, many certain to experience this grueling battle in their dreams for years to come.

Jor and the demi-Think Tank move up to the door and inspect it. The gate was part of a deployable wall, the thick metal extending into the stone and locking into place, a common feature of mines that needed to cordon off areas that might have a possible toxic or flammable gas present. The construct moves to a torn out control panel in the installed wall and its armatures shaped like spindly finger bones picks through the tattered wires while Jor runs his Reconstructed hand along the metal. With a triumphant note the demi-Think Tank interfaces with the simple circuitry and the gate rumbles as it unlocks.

At their command the construct has the gate open, the air-tight seals hissing and releasing bursts of steam as the humid atmosphere of the room beyond the gate rushes out to equalize with the tunnel. Typically slow and partially rusted the gates creak open and there was a burst of gunfire from within that the Dirges guard against. Bright sickly green light pours from within, obscuring their vision but Jor grows annoyed with the slow speed of the gates opening and with a telekinetic burst bends the gate open wide.

The gunfire ceases and a voice calls out from within, "HOLD! I will speak with you!"

Jor and the Commander glance at each other, the human shrugging before the osjiic nods and they step past the gate into the chamber with their soldiers following behind.

Hope folks had fun, I know I did after that initial hiccup. Sorry about all that, I was too sober.

Thread's archived but I'll be up for a little bit longer if folks have troop or ship designs and orders to discuss

On the outer edges of a distant star system was a series of flashes and radiation as a fleet drops out of FTL, their combi-drives close to overheating from lengthy trip. The Armada ships wrap themselves in distorted light and disappear from sight so that by the time the light and radiation could reach any sensors within the system they'd be mistaken for ancient novas or star bursts.

The yellow star of Teuthan was rather bright even from this distance as the fleet of stealth ships travel at sub-light toward the planets in orbit around it.

Just as the Eyegore had reported the system was nearly silent except for the natural cosmic and background radiation from the star and a lone transmission emitting from the largest moon of the gas giant.

"Planet Honiv, please respond. This is the Virtual Intelligence, N.I.M., of the fuel refinery, please advise. Unauthorized access to automated harvest vessels along with additional theft and tampering of drones has been detected. I am alone here, please respond. It has been four weeks and three days since last contact. Message will repeat," and the message loops over and over with the occasional change to the wording.

The Eyegore transmits the data it has gained from its observations of the system, welcoming it's kin.

>System: Teuthan

>Star: Yellow Medium

>Planets:

>Rocky world: A small tidally locked world that has forgone colonization due to the extreme variations of temperature between hemispheres and the powerful storms that brew as the day strikes the night.

>Honiv: A moderately large planet with a higher than normal gravity but still within comfortable ranges for most Confederate races. With a rich biosphere it was selected to be a potential farming world harvesting the local plantlife and the goal of domesticate a local species of large arthropods. A colony set near the temperate equator where only a few thousand lived and worked to shape the planet to their needs, the population supposedly mostly ecologists, engineers, xenobotanists and xenobiologists. With the planet almost equally split between sea and land the planets tides were heavily affected by the twin moons, the largest of which has a small station.

>Rocky world: With landmarks suggesting the now airless and barren world once held liquid oceans it has been left alone beyond several automated drones and shuttles performing mineral surveys for potential mining operations in the future.

>Binary ice worlds: A pair of small ice balls that share a handful of moons appear unremarkable except for the presence of active geysers on the larger shooting pillars of ice and water miles into the atmosphere making the surface hazy with atmosphere.

>Gas giant: A typical gas giant of swirling muted colors. It's largest moon possesses a small unmanned automated outpost run by a simple VI with the goal of setting the groundwork for a future fuel refinery.

>>1402701
The Eyegores report goes on to include recent photos and memories of the surface of the planets and the new construction efforts of the locals. One constant that seemed present one each of the populate worlds was that the Eyegores sensors detected Necrotic energy signatures among the observed settlements.

On Honiv the once lush fields of growing crops had been burned and cleared for the construction of various armored buildings and even several airstrips for the surprising large amount of shuttles and strikecraft that patrolled its orbit. The colony had many of its buildings replaced or reinforced with a more utilitarian design that overtime had begun to more openly resemble a familiar architecture of the old Grand Necrotic Armada. The Eyegore even detected the tell-tale presence of anti-air defenses being built into the sides of hills or hidden in the dense jungles surrounding the colony.

Honiv's moon was quite alarming, the beginnings of a large pylon rising up near the moon base on the light side. Construction drones and shuttles moved around it like insects building a hive as they constructed what was quickly resembling a ship construction pylon.

The rocky airless world showed increased signs of mining presence, mining vehicles and carts hauling out ore and rubble to expanding factories that shuttles streamed in and out of. It too was beginning to develop anti-air defenses but it seemed much of its infrastructure was underground, likely filling the mines as they stripped the ore from the ground.

The binary ice worlds appeared to be ignored for the time being, shuttles only using their gravity to sling-shot their way to the gas giant.

The broadcast of N.I.M. was the emitting from the largest moon of the gas giant while shuttles and harvesting vehicles milled around a growing refinery on another of the moons. Harvesting tugs smaller than a corvette trailed miles of tethers into the storms they skimmed over, most of their bulk dedicated the massive canisters of the siphoned atmosphere.

The Think Tanks of the stealth fleet converse in their rapid fire exchanges as they traveled inward.

What shall their plan be?

Wrapped in bubbles of distorted light the fleet began to drift apart as they neared the system and adjusted course for their own separate destinations.

Shuttles move throughout the system with sub-light engines, many of them obviously cargo carriers transporting resources. Yet there were strikecraft guarding them and running patrols in the orbits of their held planets. Ranging in size from roughly equal to the Nail to the Gunships they were present throughout the system.

Many lightyears away in the Curou sector in the Refuse system secluded within the dense nebula wall Necromancer Jor and the Necrolyte Commander stepped into the humid chamber beyond the broken deployable wall with their soldiers. Their helms visors adjusted quickly to the bright light within and the Armada troops lifted their weaponry and aimed at the undead they saw surrounding them.

Ghouls and zombies filled the room, milling around the dozens of large glass and plasteel pods filled with gently bubbling liquid. Jor gave a quick glance around and his stomach turned at the sight.

The chamber was a large domed cavern with a large pillar of stone supporting the roof in the center. Arrayed around it were possibly hundreds of pods stacked on top of each other in rows and inside each one were clones of numerous races in various states of development. The pods ranged in size with one corner dedicated to tanks that could gestate Osjiic or even Osogo.

Undead filled the chamber, most of them freshly cloned and lacking both armor and weaponry although there were a decent portion that possessed both, all of them staring silently at the Necrolytes and Reconstructed that dared to intrude on them.

Gripping their weapons tight the soldiers were tense as Jor finally calls out, "Who is it that controls these undead?" he demanded in a firm voice.

There was a stretch of silence then laughter rang out and from near the pillar a human male with pale skin and eyes sunken in their sockets lifts up slightly above the ranks of the undead, "That would be me, First Necromancer. Finally we meet."

Jor squints at the human as his visor zooms in to look over the human, the man wearing a robe with a hood thrown back. On his cheeks and bald scalp were fresh scars depicting crude runes of the Wormstar even worsely transcribed than the Blackscales. The human looked at Jor intently, the man clearly drunk on Necrotic power with how starkly his veins stood black against his gaunt pale skin. Finally Jor shook his head, "I'm sorry, do I know you?" There was a brief pause then several of the Necrolytes tried to hold back snorts of laughter with their comm lines muted.

The necromancer looked indignant for a moment then scoffs, reaching back to pull his hood forward with one hand while the other hefts a staff of a freshly stripped skull mounted on the end of warped bone and rebar, "I suppose that is fair. We were expecting Lord Jadyk to visit us, honestly. But you'll do for now."

The Necrolytes shift their weapons to aim at the human and the undead bunch up in front of him, several osjiic and netu zombies standing around him as he looks through a gap between them but the undead within the room do not attack although they do look ready to at a moments notice. The voice of the human calls out again, "Don't be like that, don't you want to ask how I did all this? Why I did this?"

What shall you do or say?

Jor was very aware of the anger that the Necrolytes around him felt even without the empathic sensors he had secretly installed into his armor. He glances at the Commander who kept his eyes and Voidscreamer trained on the Necromancer and speaks to him over a private commline, "What do you think?"

"They're delaying. Buying time until their reinforcements swarm in and eat us," he replies, "Find out what you need and then let's end this."

Releasing his grip on his shardspitter he moved to step ahead of the squad of Armada soldiers, raising his hand and stopping when the undead around him sensed and trained their weapons on him, "Who you are matters little in the face of the crimes you have committed. Although I would hear from you yourself why you have done this while you are still alive," the necromancer glares at Jor but he doesn't let him say anything as he continues.

"Why have you unleashed so much death and suffering on the people of Refuge? Why did you kill so many?" Jor demands as he feels his own anger welling up inside him.

Silent for several moments the Necromancer stares at Jor from behind his undead shields, "You are right. Who I was before I gained this power is of no importance..." they say almost too low to hear without the assistance of the flatbody gargoyles slowly creeping along the ceiling. The human calls out louder, "I suspect you know how it starts, Jor. The dreams and their whispers that encroach on the day while you are awake, the visions and the songs twisting through you. I searched for a cause and learned of the Necrotic, about the old Armada and the Undying Court...About the Wormstar..."

As the human ranted the demi-Think Tank silently contacts the Commander and reports that the source of the building Necrotic energy was below the floor of the cavern. A quick scan of the chamber and the osjiic spots several staircases and ladders leading below.

The necromancer continues, "Yet, I could find no relief, no answers. I could hear the whispers of promised glory and the hints of the path but I never found a guide...Never saw the path to power," their voice grows bitter, "I was forced to go live out my days on some backwater planet, tending to crops and clearing forests on a world that wasn't my own subjected to Osjiic raids while those I lived with derided me until-"

Jor cuts the human off, his irritation rising at hearing the familiar story, "Until you found something or someone from the old Armada. Some missing piece that let you unlock your twisted desires. What did you find? Some tomb or a derelict Armada ship?"

The undead around them began to shift and growl as the human stared at Jor until they let out a laugh that carries through the cavern, "Indeed. I found a vessel as I was clearing a forest for a new field. A cave system where an ancient starship had crashed eons ago, the stone of the caves molding around it. Within I found my mentor and my destiny."

>cont
>>
>>1403534
They begin to laugh and Jor could easily hear the madness creeping into his voice, "The starship was from the Plaguedrinkers. A small freighter that held one final canister sealed in stasis, brimming with a plague but I could not access it. I was still unworthy, unable to tap into the Necrotic that taunted me still," they say with bitterness creeping into their voice.

"You think your destiny was to destroy the lives of countless sapient beings just to fuel your own madness?" Jor says with disgust plain in his voice.

He could feel the other necromancer bristling with indignant anger even across the room before he began to shout, "It is my destiny! I am the herald of the Hunger! I am the one who will bring back the glory of the Necrotic! To bring glory to the Wormstar!"

The Commander growled over the commline to Jor, "The shamblers are getting pissed off, ask who this mentor is then let's get this done with!"

Jor gave a nod then called out, "Who was your mentor? Who trained you and unlocked your potential? Did one of the Plaguedrinkers survive in their vessel?"

The pale man falls silent at the demand, staring wildly at Jor. Finally he speaks with a rushed intensity, fear thick on his tongue, "They told me they would ask about them. That you or Jadyk would come for us. They promised to make me like them, to live forever and spread the glory of the Wormstar and gain more and more power. They are waiting for us below. I think they want to meet you, First Necromancer. They speak so highly of you."

How should they proceed?

He did say that "they" are downstairs, and they are working with primitive Necrotic reactors, so I don't think hes really as good as he seems. If he was smart there would have been smaller doses at each of the planets, rather then a goddamn arrow leading to his hideout. This dude is bond-villain level crazy, really don't think we should follow him around. He might be interesting to study though. No, he needs to be dead, if left alive he can still control the undead THAT ARE COMEING FAST. We need them mindless because they are all coming here
>>
>>1403595
Where did you get that from? Plaugedrinkers were some of the big guns right up there with Jadyk and co, and more importantly, where faithful and true followers of the wormstar. That alone is enough to at least hear them out, for they may once more be of use to it.

"Alright this guy is crazy," a Necrolyte mumbles, not realizing they were on an open comm.

They didn't notice their mistake until Jor nodded, "Agreed. We need to subdue him so that we can break his connection. Try to keep them alive, Jadyk will want to speak with them," he says quickly while still acting as if he was listening to the necromancers rant.

"No promises," the Commander growls then shouts out, "NOW!" and Voidlight engulfs his form along with the other Voidsingers at his side. The shout set off the undead and they charged forward screaming with dozens of voices. The Voidsingers glowed with ultraviolet light as they slammed their fists against the ground and the undead charging forward found themselves suddenly lifted into the air as gravity suddenly ceased to work. Mentally reaching out Jor connects with the Dirges and they share their telekinetic might as he cast a hand out, a ripple of concussive pressure blasting out to send the floating undead sailing backwards and shattering the nearest cloning tanks with sprays of biogel and partially formed clones.

The Armada forces unleashed a barrage of weaponsfire into the disoriented crowds before they could even pick themselves up, slugs and energy blasts ripping through flesh and shattering glass. The voice of the Necromancer screams out in a fury and Jor could feel the energy below spike in intensity as Necrotic energy crackles around him. Jor turned to the Commander and shouted over the din of battle, "I need to get to him! I can stop him!"

The Commander nods and barks a quick set of orders and the Necrolytes and Reconstructed reform their ranks. Trolls and Legionnaires holding shields run at their forefront, soldiers firing over and around them as the undead began to throw themselves once more at the Armada forces. Jor and the others stayed in the center, only stepping out to cover a break in the shield wall as they escorted Jor toward the rival necromancer.

The necromancer shouted out madly and Jor could feel his rage washing out to infect the undead he controlled. Ghouls and zombies threw themselves bodily at the steadfast soldiers, claws and fangs scraping against shield and armor as their frail forms, deformed with plague and genetic corruption, were torn apart by blade, bullet, and blaster. Those unfortunate Necrolytes and Reconstructed they managed to pull down fought bravely until they were overwhelmed by their numbers.

Jor thrust his staff out and a mote of concentrated Necrotic energy was thrown out to strike a pylon of pipes and cables connected to a large number of the cloning tanks. Once struck by the Hex the stack of sensitive equipment began to warp and twist before rupturing with an explosion of jagged shrapnel and boiling liquids. The splash of caustic fluids caused the necromancer to let out a yelp as his arm was struck and the cloth and flesh began to sizzle and smoke.

As they struggled to tear the burning sleeve from the ragged jumpsuit they wore under their homemade robes the undead around them faltered and hesitated for a brief moment. There were many turning toward the necromancer as he subconsciously called for aid and others that paused in their charges before those still enraged reminded them of their goals.

This hesitation was all the Commander needed and he shouted out a code to the Necrolytes around him that Jor didn't recognize. The Osjiic reached out and grabbed Jor by the arm, startling the human who turned to shout at him only for the Commander to shout, "Hold on!"

A split second later Necromancer felt his stomach drop as the gravity around them was negated by the other Voidsingers and the Commander leaped into the air with several other Necrolytes and Reconstructed. Their jump-packs trailed motes of distorted voidlight as they sailed over the heads of the undead. Boosted by the Voidsingers they dashed rapidly through the air, skipping off the tops of cloning tanks and equipment pylons or even the heads of an undead.

The necromancer ripped his burning sleeve free and looked up barely in time to see the onslaught of soldiers sailing through the air toward him, his eyes going wide in shock as the Necrolyte Commander reels back Jor in his grasp as Voidlight engulfed his form. Jor begins to shout indignantly a moment before the much larger osjiic flung him with breakneck speed at the other necromancer and his undead guards.

Jor could only mentally curse the Commander for not warning him before he realized his role. Wreathed in Voidlight he took his staff in both hands and with a shout and a swing he struck out with a crescent of crackling Necrotic energy that detonated with a blast of energy and telekinetic power to knock the cluster back in a disorganized pile of limbs.

Landing heavily on several undead Jor dashed forward and with flicks of his reaver staff tossed dazed zombies and ghouls backwards to expose the necromancer. Giving a shout of rage Jor charged forward, swinging the heavy staff down at him only for the other necromancer to swing up his own, much cruder, staff. Yet as they struck there was a detonation of Necrotic energy off the pair and energy crackled where they tested their power against each other.

Oh damn, just got here, Grave you still running? Loving this scene man. Also just wanted to say, whether Nekris and the most recent other two are dead or just lost for some time, I'm enjoying the quest anyway. Sadly characters die, they can't always return triumphant. If they could it wouldn't really make their feats memorable and heroic.

Don't let people get you down when they're just complaining. I know you're great at taking constructive criticism, you've improved vastly since ghouls, just remember to note the difference between anger/shitposting and actual constructive criticism of calls and dice systems.

Jor's shout was nearly drowned out by the crackling of their staves sparking with Necrotic energy. The unnamed Necromancer struggled to hold the staff with both hands, blood running down his face from a cut on his scalp as he grit his teeth. His blackened veins stand out starkly against his pale flesh as they clashed, the white of their eyes going blood red as vessels burst.

As the two Necromancers clashes the Necrolytes and Reconstructed fought against the undead that seemed to be losing their coherence. Arcdancers were a blur as their blades carved through the undead even as the ambient necrotic power was draining their strength they fought on, the names of Nekris and Eiton on their lips as their blades ran wet.

The moved to reunite in a single group after their maneuver, the two squads carving through the undead between them. The Dirges assisted by flinging shrapnel and broken glass at the oncoming undead to lop of limbs or heads.

Jor could feel the Necromancer attempting the channel the energy of the powersource below in their clash of wills, attempting to force Jor to take the energy into himself and overwhelm him.

A look of triumph flashed on the humans face as he felt Jors resistance against the attack fold and let the tide of energy into himself. But rather than attempting to consume it Jor clasped a hand around the necromancers staff and swung his own around, channeling the energy through himself and out the conduit of the reaver staff.

A sickly green bolt of energy leaps out to strike the nearby undead and the bolt leaps to another and another, beginning to chain through the undead in the chamber. Many fell as the bolt of potent energy ripped through them but the others staggered. Only, rather than shake off their dazed state they turned on their kin seemingly at random, claws and fangs ripping into flesh in a sudden outbreak of chaos and madness.

The Necrolytes hesitate as the madness rushes through the undead in the chamber and Jors voice rises above it all. It was a shout of triumph and near madness as he wrest the control of the undead from the necromancer and turned them upon themselves. He looked down at the necromancer who could not release the staff they both gripped and Jor looked ready to deal the killing blow right then.

He would have if the Necrolyte Commander hadn't ran forward and lifted his heavy boot to break the nose and eyesocket of the necromancer with a wet crack. Blood flying from his face the human falls back unconscious leaving Jor standing there with a staff in each hand staring blankly at the man.

He looked to the Commander then dropped the crude staff, "Glad that worked," he says, not wanting to admit how close he came to killing the necromancer.

The Commander nodded, "Simple solution a complex problem. Nice trick by the way," he remarked and nodded to the undead still clawing at each other in feral aggression.

The Necrolytes moved to group up with the Reconstructed around their Commander and Jor in a small pocket of safety as the undead horde falls to chaos. At his order the Necrolytes and Reconstructed begin picking off the undead that drew too close to them. The undead clawed and bit at each other with feral savagery, rifles and scrap weapons forgotten underfoot and only serving to trip them.

Jor's visor flips back and he retches his rations out as the weariness of the tactic washed over him. Quickly composing himself as he rejoined the Commander and the officers where they were wrapping a collar around the Necromancer throat. It was similar in shape to the collar the Ahkam were forced to wear, a pair of Domination Spikes driven into his throat as a Dirge links it's Glutton Sphere with the collar itself to keep his power sedated.

"He'll wish we killed him once Jadyk is done with them," Jor says.

A netu Arcdancer growls out, "He better pay for everything that's been done, I'll be mourning too many friends," they say and the others murmur their agreement.

The Commander nods, "They will be punished, I promise this. But our mission isn't over. There's still their "mentor" to worry about."

Jor let out a weary sigh, "I can feel them below. I don't think they're happy," he says, not noticing the slightly annoyed looks some of the Necrolytes sent him.

He was about to say more when he and the Voidsinger flinch, a voice ringing in their skulls much like an Eldertrees, <Come face me, chosen of Jadyk. Come face your doom. Your deaths will be punishment for Jadyk's crimes against me.>

Also, feel free to suggest troop and ship orders or designs or ask questions if they're not to spoiler heavy.

One thing I would like is to finalize the design for the Specter Reconstructed. In regards to that I realized that Jump-packs would be incompatible with a disrupted Reconstructed since it is a device that utilizes Void energy

Yeah, in light of their recent string of disastrous failures, I think the Predator order as whole should sent to their room to think about what they've done. They really seem to be developing a habit of getting themselves in over their heads as of late, and that can't continue.

See, unlike the rest of our generals the Predators are glass cannons. They lack the sheer ruggedness of the voidknights or punishers, and when they fuck up (which is ultimately inevitable with our current dice rolling system) they suffer extreme injuries to the point of near death. If they keep going at the rate they've been going thus far they're going to get themselves permanently killed.

The Necrolytes and Reconstructed were forming a small defensive perimeter around the unconscious necromancer using the machinery of the cloning tanks as barricades and cover. Still the undead tore at each other in a cannibalistic frenzy, any that somehow noticed the living and Reconstructed soldiers were quickly put down to avoid drawing the attention of the larger swarm. Many of the Necrolytes found their stomachs turning at the grotesque sight.

The netu among the squad recognized that the machinery was fairly similar to the gestation pods that their race used to reproduce, but on an far larger industrial scale. A kosda, a former engineer on an Ahkam ship, stated they also saw similarities from small-scale cloning machines the Dynasties would use to produce fresh meat in isolated fleets or outposts.

Jor and the Commander stood over the bound necromancer, their heads aching slightly from the telepathic challenge they had received from below their feet. The osjiic rubbed at his temple and grumbled, "This whole mission has been one complication after another when it should've been a fairly simple mission."

The human shrugs then nods in thanks to a Stinger than handed him a fresh magazine for his shardspitter, "Well, mission is still the same. We stopped this asshole," he says with an ungentle jab into the necromancer side with his boot, "But whoever gave him his power is still there," he glances around at the chaos of the undead around them then adds, "The fact they haven't gained control of the zombies is strange though..."

"How did you pull off that little trick making them frenzy like that?" the Commander inquires.

Frowning in thought Jor was silent for a second, "I guess you could liken it as if I hacked his signal to the hordes and corrupted their orders. Then when you knocked him out the orders got stuck on repeat," he gives a large shrug then, "But honestly I am not completely certain. I don't know if the corrupted orders traveled any further than this cavern or if all the undead in Refuge are currently tearing themselves apart."

The voidsinger nods and silently looks down at the necromancer at his feet for several moment then over to the nearest staircase, "I don't think our host will be patient much longer."

Necromancer Jor and the Necrolyte Commander have been challenged by a Necrotic entity. How shall they proceed?

"I'd feel better with back-up," Jor says wryly.

The Commander nods then issues a command over the commline of the Necrolytes, the surviving Reconstructed looking up as the demi-Think Tank keys them in as well. Given their orders the soldiers move without delay to obey. Final weapon and armor checks were completed and they form up into two groups to go down separate staircases, cutting down any of the undead that came after them. The necromancer was carried by one of the remaining Dirges wrapped in a metal cocoon of scrap from the cloning machinery, their restraint collar attuned to the Reconstructed's Glutton Sphere.

The now feral undead proved little difficulty for the trained soldiers and deadly Reconstructed as hard-light gladiuses and thermal vibroaxes carving a path through them. The mainly avoiding using their guns and rifles out of fear of drawing the attention of the remaining undead but even as they had to put a bone rifle slug into the brain of an osjiic zombie trying to fit the entire head of a panicked vorh into its massive maw they continued to attack each other.

The stairs were crude and steep, the uneven steps nearly as dangerous as the undead. The Armada forces file down the stairs, weapons at the ready as they look around the new chamber. Slightly smaller than the one above it was still decently large but the light that filled the chamber issued from a domed structure in the floor, sickly green light pulsing through the glass panels built into the riveted metal shell. The meters built into their suits to warn them of powerful energy signatures was crackling furiously as the Necrotic energy fills the room to a level that would have quickly injured the Legionnaires if they weren't wearing their reinforced exoarmors.

Yet Jor and the Commander only spared the crude reactor a passing glance, the room bare except for shelves along the walls containing in various states of empty. They were alone in the chamber except for a humanoid figure sitting on top of the domed reactor wrapped in torn cloth that hid its form and a group of ghouls that appeared to have resisted Jor's psionic disruption. The ghouls stood around the base of the reactor, heavily armored in military gear and even portions of powered exoskeletons that seem to have fused with their rotten flesh. They carried weapons as well ranging from common slug or energy rifles to having thermal knives or vibroblades embedded into their flesh.

This time the voice came from the figure, no longer booming in their skulls, "Took you long enough, Jor. I was thinking you would flee rather than actually fight," the cloth wrapped head turns to the Commander, their face completely hidden beneath the rags, "You would never retreat unless order though. This I've seen."

The figure appears strangely calm and the Commander glances at Jor from across the room who returns his gaze.

They where so open about the attack the entire galaxy knew they where there, be glad it's us stopping you instead of them, at least with us is an old friend putting you down

>>1409291

Don't know what you hope to find out by asking it why it massacred and reanimated an entire system's worth of life. It's an undead. It's what they DO. Holding it against them or expecting them not to do this sort of thing when they get a chance after eons of entombment is a little hypocritical.

Jadyk is the one who's an outlier of their kind, and his change in behavior is a very recent thing. Up until less than a year ago he would have done pretty much exactly what this guy has been doing in the same circumstances, and Jor is perfectly aware of that.
>>
>>1409162
The Armada forces attempted to spread out slightly but the ghouls tensed and began to growl in warning so they paused. Jor lowers the barrel of his shardspitter as he looked up at the figure, "Who are you? You seem very familiar with us and the Armada but you hide your identity even now."

"Too soon to ask that question, Necromancer," they say with a shake of their head.

Jor scowls under his helm but continues, "Why have you done this and what possible goals could you have? You could have built up your forces in secret with your cloning machine, prepared in secret. Yet you and your henchman have unleashed suffering up on the living of this system who are already refugees and victims."

"A better question, Necromancer, and it is quite simple," their voice was rough and dry as if their tongue and throat were not meant for speaking, "To gather attention. We wanted the eyes of the Galaxy upon us, to see and bear witness."

A necrolyte shouted up from the ranks, "You did this for attention!?" the speaker Jor recognized as an osjiic Arcdancer, her voice thick with bitterness and Jor remembered she had been friends with Rosa.

The figure looked toward her and nodded, "Regrettably, my narcissism has been a flaw even when I was still a living being like you."

The Commander shot a look at the other osjiic and they fell back into seething silence. Looking up at the figure on the reactor the voidsinger demanded, "You have the attention of the galaxy now. What would you have done next if the Armada hadn't arrived to thwart you?"

There was silence fore a time then the figure begins to rock back and forth as their body began to quake. A low laughter rang out from the figure, vaguely human but distinctly full of scorn, "As much as I know the Armada, I hadn't actually expected Lord Worm to send his forces to save the living. Didn't expect this confrontation to occur so soon," they say and after a pause they mumble, "Their promise I would have time was of course hollow," they look down at their lap then suddenly jerk their head up to look at Jor, "You have changed Jadyk from what he used to be like. Keeping the living around him and finding that you are so useful that he would even strive to keep your minds and souls intact in undeath."

The Necromancer was silent as they stared up at the figure and the Commander speaks up, "Again, you speak intimately of the Armada. Who are you? How have you observed us and why do you hate Jadyk?"

>cont
>>
>>1409403
Whatever bitter humor they had seemed to vanish as they gestured angrily and the necrotic reactor surges, "You know the answer that I can not speak! We are but pawns! Playthings!" they rose up to their feet then, "From Them to the Confederacy to Jadyk to the Ahkam! The weak are nothing more than pieces to move across the board! The weak are used as fodder and experiments so the strong and valued can strive!

"Do you think Jadyk values you?" it demands angrily but it continues on its rant, "Do you think Jadyk cares about the pain he brings to the Galaxy or the scars that he left on it that are still present so long ago? I have been shown the depths of his cruelty!" their shouting filled the chamber now and the ghouls were beginning to snarl and quake with barely contained rage, "I experienced untold agony at his orders, my life stolen and made a curse! We were made to suffer while Jadyk parades his righteousness to the galaxy! No more!"

They cast a hand at them and the undead gave a massed scream as they charged at the Legionnaires and Reconstructed.

So random idea for a necro/solar reactor bomb
Basically it's a necrotic generator that when activated is set to overload with necrotic energy and as it's about to go critical it feeds into a solar reactor so it goes critical before detonating in a solar explosion

Or something along those lines

With a flash of Arc-light the Arcdancers were the first to charge in, their forms a distorted blur when they struck at the undead rushing their lines. The osjiic Arcdanger swung her heavy shield around knocking ghouls back with shockwaves of electric energy with her heavy sword crushes or cleaves them apart, her rage plain in her actions as she vents her pain into the undead attacking her. The Voidsingers charged in with the few remaining Void Trolls, hammers and mauls trailing motes of distorted light with each swing that strikes with explosive power.

Bullets and energy blasts filled the air as the two forces opened fire upon each other, the chamber quickly becoming a warzone but as the undead charged the Necrolyte lines they were forced to resort to clone quarters combat. Yet unlike the undead had likely expected the Legionnaires held the line with a grim determination as they met them with head-on, hard-light shields flashing into being as they fought with thermal vibroblade or hard-light gladius while the Trolls and few remaining Stalkers join the brutal melee with claw and fang.

Guided by the Commander and Jor the undead were pushed back, their charge broken forcing them to spread out in pockets of combat where the Armada forces could excel rather than facing overwhelming odds. His hammer stained with gore and bone chips the Commander stood at the front lines as ever, his own fury at losing so many of his soldiers and friends to this insane undead's plan. Voidflame shrouded his dark armor as a shield of turbulent Void energy consumed the weaponsfire the ghouls focused on him as he advanced on the reactor, his intent set on the shrouded figure that stood above them.

Jor found himself fighting alongside the Arcdancer, his shardspitter Neun, firing void infused flechettes to rip through the skulls of the undead as he unconsciously telekinetically guides the bolts. The osjiic soldier made sure to block Jor from the undead that focused on him, her arc-edged cleaver and spiked shield crackling with power as she struck down any ghoul that tried to charge them. The blade of his staff lunges out to pierce the eyesocket of a charge Vorh that had been wrapped in dense coils of wire with scrap emerging from its chitin. Jor gave the blade a twist then yanked it out to swing the heavy, blunt end around against the temple of a human ghoul that had nearly sunk their claws into his armor and the Arcdancer swung her cleaver at an angle as it fell, the heavy blade lopping its head from its neck.

Still the figure watched from above as the Armada forces made their way closer to the crude reactor. Their covered gaze falls to the Necrolyte Commander as they neared the closest, the other Voidsingers fighting by his side as they clashed with several of the largest osjiic and netu ghouls.

As the battle raged Flatbody Gargoyles had crept along the ceiling, their eyes observing and feeding data to the demi-Think Tank assisting and guiding the Reconstructed. Among them the surviving Looms and Shadows slinked along the ceiling as well, skin rippling with dark colors and rough textures to hide them against the stone. They were nearly directly above the figure when they threw themselves at it but the humanoid seemed to detect their attack and dodged under the swiping claws of the Shadows. A cloth covered hand snaps out and takes one of the Shadows by the throat and with a powerful heave threw the heavy undead down into the crowds below. Its wrappings began to fray as it clashes with the Reconstructed that attempted to ambush it, bone partially revealed underneath the torn cloth as it tears the limbs off of Looms and snaps the metal-wreathed bones of the Shadows.

It's voice bellows out, this time ringing in the ears and skull of the living, "YOU THINK TO KILL ME LIKE THAT?!" it screams and then it dove down, moving almost as fast an Arcdancer. There was a blur of movement and then a Necrolyte, a human grenadier, begins screaming as they clutched the bloodied stump of their shoulder even as the figure uses the severed arm to strike an epikor soldier hard enough in the chest to crack their armor and several ribs as they flew back through the air.

Chaos descended once more as the undead mastermind threw itself into battle finally. Trolls charged it, attempting to protect their living comrades with furious bellows, but their armor was broken as their foe moved almost too quick to follow with a deceptive strength despite it's human size and frame. It picked up fallen blades and weapons, turning them on its enemies and seeming to make a point of leaving its victims impaled, preferring to maim rather than kill. It began to cackle and shout "Do you see this Jadyk!? Do you see the pain and suffering you have brought your zealots?"

The undead continued its rampage until it let out a shout of surprise and looked down at the Arc-edged blades protruding from their chest. An Arcdancer, a netu that followed Nekris' form of paired swords, had blinked behind and run them through. With an indignant shout the undead spun around and backhanded the netu hard enough to shatter the chitin of both their Necrolyte and natural armors. They grumbled to themselves and struggled to reach back for the blades until a pair of ghouls rushed up and began yanking on the hilts.

Not willing to let the chance fade the Commander unleashes a beam of his Voidscreamer and the undead staggers as portions of its coverings were torn away. It's scream fills their minds as Jor swung his staff and a bolt of Necrotic energy leaped from the crystal at the end to strike the undead as well. They channeled their might into the attacks and soon the others around them follow their example with Necrotic and Void Flayers ripped into them along with bone and metal slugs striking their form.

Their scream continued under the assault but there was another sudden blur of movement and a renewed set of screams from the living. No longer in the center of their concentrated attack the undead had retaliated and now slashed and stabbed at the unfortunate Necrolytes with the pair of Arc-edged swords they had torn from their body. With their coverings obliterated the undead was finally revealed and Jor felt his stomach plummet even though he had suspected their involvement.

Armored in chitin and bone they shared the aesthetic designs of the Trolls and Stingers it was decimating, eyeless but moving with a focused determination. The last time Jor had seen them they were floating comatose in vats of liquid Biomass deep in Iti'a'Ropku, their bodies forcefully Reconstructed while they were still alive after being kidnapped from Clour and Station 88 under order of Jadyk for the purpose of experimenting with the Necrotic on the living.

Finally the Legionnaires seemed to realize the eerie familiarity and they cease their weaponsfire as the undead stood amid a pile of corpses that included ghouls, Legionnaires and Reconstructed. Blood dripped down it's pale armor, the twin blades of the Arcdancer in its hands. It twists its gaze toward Jor and it levels a blade in his direction, "Do you see now? The extent of Jadyk's cruelty? I had a name once! A family!" it screams into their minds, "Jadyk ordered this and turned us into monstrosities! I was going to make the galaxy see me, was going to make it see what Jadyk is capable of! You will not deny me my justice!" it shouted and suddenly charged once more.

Jor flinches as the Immortal charged him only to hear an indignant shout of anger in his mind as blood splashed against his armor. Opening his eyes he saw the points of the blades just protruding from the back of bone armor, their points black with osjiic blood. He looked up in shock to see the Arcdancer had blinked in front of the attack to save him.

The Immortal screamed its rage at being denied their satisfaction and went to rip the blades free but the Arcdancer wrapped a heavy six-fingered hand around the undeads and squeezed down with their remaining strength, the other snapping up around the throat of the Immortal to push them back with a defiant shout even as blood bubbled past her lips under her helm. Charging she slammed the body of the Immortal against the reactor, her hand around its throat battering the back of its head against the reactor over and over, its own free hand was repeatedly driving the blade through her as black blood pooled at their feet.

Finally she fell back, a hand clasped over her wounds and the Immortal pries itself from the dented metal. It raised its blades to finish her off when gravity suddenly reversed and it was lifted it off its feet into the air. It twists as Voidlight danced around its form just in time to see the form of the Commander flying through the air with voidbone hammer and armor blazing with Voidflame. Swinging his hammer down he shatters the swords it brought up to block, the momentum and Void energy carrying the weapon around for another overhead strike that sent them colliding with the stone below hard enough that the room shakes.

The Commander bellows out their own rage as they landed at the depression the Immortal lay in, its armor cracked from the repeated abused. Reaching down the Osjiic wraps his fingers around its head to lift the Immortal up and reels back to swing its blazing hammer once more. The undeads body bucks them and wraps its limbs around the arm thicker than its torso and with a bucking motion manages to break the arm of the Voidsinger.

Letting go with a shout of pain the Immortal landed on its feet and hands only to rush forward, its clawed hand puncturing the armor of the Voidsingers stomach. Reaching in up to the elbow Commander staggers back as the Immortal pushes him back against the reactor, "I can feel your heart of flame and void," it taunts, twisting the limb in side him and making the osjiic shout out once more, "Killing you now would be a mercy. Have you told Jadyk or Jor how close your flame is to consuming you? Was this a suicide mission for you?"

The Commander surprises the Immortal by grasping the arm embedded in his gut firmly and growls down at him, "My life is nothing with out the Armada. To Death, and through it to Eternity," he says then strikes with a headbutt strong enough to crack the bone of both their armor.

The Immortal staggers back from the blow, arm black with Osjiic blood. Shaking its head it seems to glare at the Voidsinger and lifts its hand to deliver another blow only for an invisible force to strike it from behind and send it slamming forcefully into the reactor.

Turning around it saw Jor holding his Reaver staff in both hands as Necrotic energy crackles off his body. Snarling they charged forward but Jor swung with the staff and the Immortal was struck with another blow of concentrated telekinetic might that sent them upwards to strike the ceiling hard enough to crack the stone. With a shout and another swing of his staff the Immortal was thrown against the ground forcefully then thrown against the reactor once more.

It tried to push off but found itself pinned as Jor channels the might of the remaining Dirges into himself. The Immortal started to struggle harder against the unseen bonds but Jor charges forward, trailing bolts of Necrotic energy in his wake. The blade of his spear swings around and with a final shout Jor drives the staff through the chest of the Immortal and into the reactor, pinning him.

Staggering back a step Jor watches the Immortal who reaches up to grasp the end of the staff sticking out of their chest, "I will tear your limbs from your body, I will shred you into pieces and scatter them across the galaxy! I will-"

"YOU WILL BE SILENT!" Jors voice drowns out the Immortals and he reaches out, his hand wrapping around the blood-slicked wrist of the Immortal. The undead struggles against him but Jor grunted as he pulled, aided by the Dirges, and rips the arm from its shoulder. With grim determination Jor tosses the limb aside and repeats the process three more times until the Immortal was a limbless torso pinned to the reactor and fell silent.

Stumbling back Jor turned to see his comrades, many of them dead or dying on the ground but he saw the Commander laying there watching him even as blood poured from between his fingers. Rushing over Jor knelt by his side, panic filling him at the sight of his friend, hands hovering over him frozen in indecision but the Commander let out a laugh thick with blood, "I've never seen-" he pauses to cough up a spurt of black blood then continues, "Never seen anyone that angry...Good job, Jor," they say then lay their head back.

Jor grabbed them by the armor and shook them, "Don't die, you fuck!" he said only for the Commander to groan in pain.

"Stop shaking me! Suits already sealing the wound but we need serious med-evac," he reached up with the hand not holding his guts in as the suit struggled to pump rapidly hardening bone-foam to seal both breach and wound, gripping his shoulder, "Save my soldiers, Jor."

>Victory! At a cost...

I was going to ask how much telekinect force was required to remove a limb

I guess now we need to figure out how to get then out as quickly as possible
>>
>>1409888
Hot damn. These Immortals are going to be a massive pain in the arse. There's what, 9 of them now?
>>
>>1409963
Just think we could mass produce them, considering this guy was probably a regular civilian bbefore we made him... better
>>
>>1409854
Oh boy anon, now that you've mentioned combining elements to make bombs you've touched on something I've been mulling over.

Just the other night I was thinking about how the two of the elements have been explicitly linked to actual scientific phenomena, specifically the Arc with electromagnetism, and the Void with gravity. This is interesting because both electromagnetism and gravity are key components of our scientific understanding of the universe in the field of particle interactions. At the subatomic level all particle behavior can be broken down into 4 fundamental forces, of which electromagnetism and gravity are two. The other two are simply referred to as strong and weak nuclear forces (physicists are hilariously terrible at coming up with original names for things).

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fundamental_interaction

The weak nuclear force is a term used to refer to radioactive decay, as particles lose mass and energy emitting radiation in the process. It actively resists bound, stable states in atoms instead allowing them to change and alter over time, making it one of the main roles entropic decay in particles (sound familiar yet?)

Now, the strong nuclear force, dubbed such for the incredible strength in keeping atoms glued together where other forces would rip them apart, is largely only observable at the atomic scale. But the immense power can be observed at larger scales when the atom is ripped apart in nuclear fission or in fusion reactions. Such reactions are immediately recognizable to us in the form of an atomic explosion, or in the natural world as, oh, say, the Sun.

When Jadyk said the four elements flowed through all the universe, he really wasn't kidding. This isn't just space magic, the four forces have underpinned the movement of all matter and energy in the universe since almost the dawn of time.

There's more of these fuckers right?

So that's all for the thread. Hope to see you all on Saturday for the next one.

Lost of plots to follow just from the last two threads.

>>1409963
Yup, there are 9 more. This one was one of the humans among their number

I'll be up for a while if folks have troop orders or suggestions before the next thread or have questions.

>>1409969
Now you have a few candidates for that too

Also just to share but I just found out by accident that if you highlight a portion of text then hit ctrl+s it will add spoiler brackets to it
>>
>>1410130
Lol, poor Jyoti. How'd you not find that out sooner?

>>1410015
Holy shit, the Quest is Real.

I never said I was very bright lol

>Arc is E-M
>Void is Gravity
>WNF is Necrotic
>SNF is Solar

Gat damn. When will we have Arc Dancers with magnetic powers?

Hopefully not all of the Immortals are like this guy. Some might have accepted their fate, see it as a blessing,or try to be heroes despite it. What are we gonna do with the one we have now? If we cant make him join us, I suggest remaking him so that he is an empty shell and that the Commander can be put in.
>>
>>1409883
We didn't make you a monster, boy. Your own actions did that.
>>
>>1409888
Premptive suggestion:drain the remaining reconstructed and use the energy to heal the Necrolytes. If that's not enough, try to siphon some from the reactor.
>>
>>1410331
Good idea. Supporting.
>>
>>1410331
We also dont know if Rosa and the rest lasted long enough for the ghouls to lose coherence and thus survive. So after healing our dudes,we should go look for the rest of them.
>>
>>1409888
Wait.. I KNOW HOW TO SAVE THEM!
What are they surrounded by? Cloning tanks! Put them all in tanks and have the think tank use cloned flesh to heal them

In need be use them to make immortals out of the most near death
>>
>>1411414
The cloning tanks were made to make undead clones using some rather ramshackle tech. In order to get healed, they would probably have to survive a whole lotta necrotic radiation and in their condition they have an even smaller chance then usual. Plus im pretty sure it would require some reprogramming, which they do not have time for.
>>
>>1411718
We have a think tank, the head necromancer, and a desperate situation
We can save them
For a given value of them
And a given value of save
>>
>>1409875
>they were forced to resort to clone quarters combat
hhhhehehehe
>>
>>1410015
Fucking neato man.
