>>Information

This quest, as the title suggests, takes place in the world of Dragon Ball. You're playing as a twenty-seven year old man named Tofoo, and will adventure through the story of the Dragonball series alongside characters such as Goku, Yamcha, Bulma, Tien, and many others. Through your actions, you can make significant changes to the story, and perhaps even become the strongest fighter on Earth.

>Rules

At the end of each update you'll have ten minutes to vote on options. Write-ins are allowed, but I do reserve the right to veto them.

In the event of a draw, the option to receive the next vote wins

Rolls will be used on certain occasions, such as attempting a technique for the first time or attempting something extremely difficult. You will have three rolls, and if one succeeds, you succeed. There are no crits.

Rolls are made AFTER an option wins, not during the voting process

I hope everyone has fun.

Grand Kai Party

>>
"I'll do it," you announce, walking to the edge of the Lookout and stepping off the edge.

You float into the air, hovering across from Torbie, who looks back at you with a curious and serious expression. He's trying to size you up, figure out what to make of you. You don't think that this is a guy who's going to rush in blindly and overconfident like Chapuchai.

"Torbie, you've got this!" South Kai calls to his fighter.

The bug-man nods toward his teacher, though he doesn't seem quite as sure as the Kai. You wonder if he senses that your power is greater than his, or if he's just allowing for the chance of defeat. In either case, that may make him more dangerous, as he won't underestimate you.

Telling yourself not to get cocky, either, you begin to gather up your energy, and ready yourself for battle.

Torbie gets into a fighting pose, and you feel his energy begin to flare up. His right leg moves back, and his right elbow does the same, his hand opening up, and his palm beginning to glow.

He thrusts his hand toward you, and a massive, purple ball of light begins to fly toward you.

As the ball of light comes hurling your way, you open your mouth wide, firing a powerful wave of light that slams into the blast, causing it to detonate in a powerful explosion. You close your mouth as wind whips around the battlefield, and a great smokescreen is kicked up.

You can feel Torbie charging forward, rushing through the smokescreen in an effort to strike you while you're unable to see him. Fortunately, you can track his energy, and by feeling the vibrations of his movements, you're able to pinpoint exactly where he is.

Gathering a bit of energy, you thrust your left hand toward Torbie as he emerges from the smoke, causing him to stop his charge and quickly answer with his own blast, once more detonating the two attacks and kicking up a smokescreen.

He quickly charges again, throwing a punch that you manage to block with your left arm. With a spin, you move behind the other fighter, and slam your elbow into the back of his head, sending him flying away from you and toward the ground.

His wings spread wide, and he stops himself from hitting the rock below, managing a more graceful landing and looking up at you, his expression having changed from worry to pure focus. You've confirmed his suspicions as to your abilities, and now that he knows how dangerous you are, he's going to fight with all he's got.

He takes to the air, charging up toward you.

As the insectoid warrior comes rushing up at you, you brace yourself to go on the defensive, confident that you can handle whatever onslaught he throws your way.

He quickly draws closer and closer, and you're struck by how unguarded he seems to be, finding yourself expecting an easy time making a counterattack. But, that doesn't happen. Instead, he stops in his tracks a short distance in front of you.

His wings spread out, then slam together, and begin to quickly move, creating a horrific noise that makes your ears feel like thy're bleeding. Crying out in pain, you clamp your hands over your ears, leaving yourself open as Torbie rushes forward, throwing a punch that slams into your unguarded face and sends you reeling. As your upper body falls back, his foot comes down into your gut, sending you plummeting toward the ground below.

Looking up, you see a barrage of energy blasts raining down after you, and you thrust your right hand up toward them, firing a wave of light that obliterates the smaller blasts, and sends Torbie scurrying out of the way.

With that accomplished, you brace yourself for impact, slamming back-first into the ground, and actually crashing through the surface. Scowling, you pull yourself out, looking around for your foe.

You suddenly feel movement from behind a rocky outcropping, and look in that direction to see dozens of blasts move around it and head right for you.

"KUMA-KEN!" you shout, feeling your energy surge as a green aura surrounds your body.

Wind howls around you as the power-up takes hold, and you look toward the approaching energy attacks, effortlessly swatting the projectiles aside, and destroying much of the already desolate landscape in the process. Rock formations crumble, blasts detonate all around you, and you don't take so much as a scratch.

"Torbie!" you can hear South Kai shouting. "Stop that! You're just wasting your energy!"

Just like that, the blasts stop, and you catch sight of your foe once again, watching as he lands atop one of the still-standing rock formations. He crosses his arms, studying you with narrowed-eyes.

"You're really strong," he compliments. "I can see why the North Kai is so confident in you. But don't count me out just yet."

His hands clench into fists, and his skin seems to darken. You get a strange vibe from him, as if he's gathering energy, yet he makes no move to attack. He remains stationary, eyes locked on you, and his energy continuing to seemingly gather within him.

He's not making any move to attack, so you decide to strike while he does whatever it is he's preparing to do. Putting one foot back, you cup your hands at your side and begin to gather your energy.

"Ka.....me......" you start.

"What are you doing?!" West Kai shouts toward Torbie. "Get out of the way, you dummy!"

"Ha.....me......HAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!" you shout at the top of your lungs, thrusting your hands toward your foe, unleashing a colossal wave of light from your palms.

"YOU GOT HIM!" you hear King Kai shout.

But, it seems he's wrong, as Torbie springs out of the way at the last moment, his pose remaining virtually unchanged as he rises back into the sky, his skin appearing even darker to you. His energy continues to behave strangely and he still makes no move to attack you.

You hold your hands out toward Torbie, channeling your energy and firing a series of blasts that crackle with electricity.

"Torbie, he's done something to those attacks!" South Kai shouts.

A moment later, he speaks again, sounding almost pleased.

"He's put electricity into them."

Torbie doesn't move a muscle as your blasts shoot for him, remaining completely stationary as the attacks draw closer, and closer, finally striking his body, which begins to dance with electricity. Rather than reacting with pain or anger, he seems to smile.

You can feel his energy suddenly surge, shooting through the roof as a bright red light shoots up around his body, climbing higher and higher until it disappears into the sky. You see something fall from Torbie, dropping to the ground below with a thud as the light surrounding him vanishes in a flash.

You shield your eyes, and when you look again, Torbie has changed. His skin is much brighter than it was at the beginning of your fight, and unless you're crazy, he looks a good deal taller than he did then, too. But most of all, his power has climbed to incredible levels, so much so that you aren't sure you can win, even with the Kuma-Ken.

"That's it, Torbie!" South Kai shouts. "Take him down!"

You drop into a defensive stance, not entirely sure what to make of what he just did. All that you know is that his energy has climbed to an incredible level.

Torbie comes rushing down, throwing a punch that you barely parry, and a knee-strike that catches you in the gut. As you bend forward, he lands a blow to your face, then kicks you in the jaw.

You grab hold of his ankle, keeping him in place while you reach your right hand up to his face and fire an energy blast. Releasing his ankle, you punch his obscured face and send him sliding across the ground on his back. He rolls backward and springs into the air, holding his right palm up and creating what looks like a disk above it.

"No way!" you hear Krillin shout. "Tofoo, look out!"

Torbie holds his hand toward you, and a series of needle-like beams of light shoot toward you, the first one piercing your left shoulder. You suddenly feel a burning spread through your body, and yell in pain as you grip your shoulder.

The other needles come flying toward you, and you leap back, trying to decide what to do next.

The man's eyes go wide just before the blast hits him, continuing into the distance as its target screams, vanishing just out of sight. You can sense his energy, but you're certain your attack has done some damage.

Good thing, too. You're starting to get tired, here.

"Yeah! That's it, Tofoo!" Bulma shouts. "Show that bug who's boss!"

"Bulma, that's rude," Yamcha tells her.

"Who cares?!" your wife asks. "Get him, Tofoo!"

You sense for Torbie's energy, holding out your right hand and focusing your own into a blade while you attempt to locate your foe.

You can sense his approach, and soon feel the vibrations of several small objects moving through the air. Sure enough, you soon spot those little projectiles streaking toward you.

Using your blade, you're able to deflect them as you rush toward Torbie, finding him continuously firing the projectiles in your direction.

Spinning out of the way, you swiftly close in, slashing with your blade and cutting a light gash into his stomach.

Torbie's eyes go wide, and he looks down in shock and fear at the damage you've done. Looking back up at you, he gulps.

"I give up," he tells you.

The problem is more around like Tofoo is still level 1 against other opponents who are also level 1, but they have modifiers that basically increase their own stats, while we have a plus +0 with our own. Basically with us it should be easier to use ki attacks, dodge, and defend while a bit harder for us to go rushing in headfirst.

It would be more around with Ki attack options, Dodging, Defending and Counters to be around the 45 to 50's minimum to succeed, While rushing to attack to be 60 to 68 minimum to succeed at the start then they either lower or get higher depending on not we did something to them that makes it easier for us to attack them or not, then a mix of results between 70 100 if we are trying to learn something new if it landed on ki or physical.

Accepting his surrender, you power down, allowing your sword to dissipate as you hold out your hand toward your opponent.

"Good fight," you tell him. "I thought you had me there a few times."

He gives a nervous chuckle as he shakes your hand. "Yeah, so did I."

"So, do you absorb electricity or something?" you ask as the two of you start heading back toward the Lookout.

"Not really, it just helped power my...uh, transformation" he tells you. "Had you hit me with electricity any other time, I would have been in some trouble."

"Thanks," you tell Bulma, returning the smile. "Anyway, I'm starving, let me go grab some grub."

You start toward the table, finding Goku standing a short distance from it with an armful of food that he is quickly stuffing into his face.

"Tofoo!" he greets with a full mouth.

Gulping down what's in his mouth, he continues. "That was a great fight."

"Thanks," you tell him. "So, do you want the last guy? Or Piccolo?"

"Yeah!" Goku shouts eagerly.

"He's mine," the Namekian declares.

The two fighters glance at one another, and Goku drops his food before the two rush at each-other, meeting in the middle and staring each other down.

Your friends all turn to observe this, most looking nervous at the potential results of this little confrontation. You can feel sparks in the air around you as the energy of the two warriors begins to build.

"He's mine, Goku," Piccolo declares.

"No way!" Goku insists, his voice child-like. "I didn't get to fight anybody yet! You gotta let me have a turn!"

"I didn't come here to stuff my face like you did," Piccolo retorts. "I came here to get stronger, and I'm not letting you get in my way."

Goku's eyes narrow.

"Well, then, maybe you'll have to fight me, first," the Saiyan challenges.

The temperature seems to drop, and a gust of wind blows across the Lookout.

Goku grins. "Sure, that sounds great!"

"Pah, forget it!" Piccolo growls. "I'm not wasting my time with something so childish."

"ENOUGH!" someone roars from behind you.

Turning around, you see the final fighter stomp forward, growling toward Goku and Piccolo, his tail slamming against the ground.

"I will fight both of you!" he declares, pointing at the two. "I will face you both at once, and be the victor!"

"Are you crazy?!" King Kai demands. 'There's no way you can beat those two!"

"That's where you're wrong, Northie!" West Kai declares. "Maraikoh can take your boys no problem."

Maraikoh chuckles, rubbing his hands together. "So, what do you say?"

Goku smirks. "Alright, if you're that confident, why not?"

Piccolo still seems dissatisfied, but goes with it. "Alright, but this better not be a waste of my time."

Well, this is going to be...something.

Hey SOM,

I was walking through a festival and something made me think of you.

here it is, enjoy.
>>
>>1437332
I mean... we have a better track record with D20 than D100 at this point... especially if you count the last few threads
>>
>>1437514
Hah
>>
>>1437533
I think we either need to start giving Tofoo some modifiers that we can see if we're gonna' go back to the d100, or Som could maybe start showing us the DC's again.

Or maybe both.

I'm fine with going back to d100, but it just seems to fuck us over so much. This isn't even criticizing Som's DM'ing, I enjoy these quests, it's just fucking soul crushing watching none of us roll above a 55 for multiple times in a row.
>>
>>1437636
you do know that d100 dcs map almost perfectly onto a d20 right?

unless your dm uses odd dcs that arent multiples of five.

no difference.
>>
>>1437654
Well, some people are in the mind set that we're big babies if we don't use d100, and I like this quest too much to try and start a little argument about dice.
>>
>>1437710
but it seriously winds up being exactly the same. unless som uses dcs like 77 or 43 there is no difference.

most people resort to dcs with a multiple of five because its simpler.

and if the system is d100 vs hidden d100 theb its no difference between d20 vs d20. statistically both of those are the same as flipping two coins.

hence, irrelevant.

>>1437543
thought youd like it.
>>
>>1437967
We might as well just stick with D100.
We already do best of 3 for everything. I we can't pass with that, we were never meant to.
>>
>>1438145
I'd still like some modifiers.

But again, I love the quest SOM.
>>
>>1438307
I think we only get modifiers if we get a 100 on a roll. Like a permanent bonus to all proceeding attack rolls or something like that.
I'm a little hazy if Som still does that though.
>>
>>1438307

Yeah, modifiers would be cool. Also, it would show Tofoo's progress as a fighter if he gets bonuses to certain actions. I mean, some quests have things like if the protagonist is cunning or sharp minded, gets bonuses to intelligence rolls or of he has a will of steel, has bonuses against mindfuckery or staying conscious after an attack that would knock out lesser people.

And in DBZ it would be even easier as they have the whole deal about having speed, punch power, endurance and ki control stats that could be turned into bonuses depending how good Tofoo is at then and maybe also give their own separated bonuses to specific skills like let's say Tofoo mastering the Beat shout and make it super deadly, kinda like how Goku has such a mastery of kamehameha that in many times it was using as the finishing strike despite it is the most basic of named energy attacks.

It would also help if activating Kuma-ken added bonuses to future actions but had diminishing returns the more "turns" it is active, or something, honestly i don't really see kuma ken really helping that much in battle as everything untimately relies in the dice and Tofoo is just as prone to be fucked by the dice at normal base than he is during a kuma ken power up

Hey i don't know if anyone has asked yet but during KumaKen why can't we surround Tofoo's body with a stream of electrical energy.
With this all attacks are automatically set with electricity with an added dose to physical attacks having them also laced with electricity.
We could call this that Kuma-Kenx2 I've been seeing on the list.

Which has me thinking our cell like opponent we had just gave me another idea, don't the Androids use electric based attacks?

Can't we just absorb that power and use that? Kuma-Ken into Kuma-Kenx2 will be much easier that way.
>>
>>1439088
I'm sure we at least have an inkling of how something like that can be done after our fight with Torbie.

Whether its true or not, I still feel bad that they are giving fat buu this type of treatment.

Jesus fuck I know he was the first BIG villain but this is just ridiculous

It's going to be the freeza redemption arc.

I'll allow you to try this, but warn you that such a move will drain power fast

Yes.

The joke is that I only remember characters with relevance. So Goku, and vegeta

Think Freeza's nova strike was something similar to that in which he used an aura barrier as an attack.

Last ditch trasfermation?
I can live with that, let's say we can only hold it for 3 mins or something just to set a ground rule.
Honestly, its just cool that my idea was useful.
>>
You guys, instead of Goku and Piccolo fighting whatshisname 2 on 1, why not suggest that Grand Kai hop in there as well to make it even and to show some moves?
>>
>>1442441
>Make it even

>Not make it one-sided as shit
>>
>>1442445
I don't mean even in terms of power, I mean in terms of people.
>>
Another reason for having Grand Kai join is that Goku and Piccolo need a challenge, and the inevitable loss will tie things up 2to2
>>
>>1442767
We don't need a tie.
We can just do a clean sweep and leave a good impression on Grand Kai.
Having Grand Kai join in doesn't really serve a purpose.
>>
>>1442767
>Need a challenge

>Implying they aren't getting exactly that even without the Grand Kai

Yknow, if we could learn or acquire Torbies electricity absorb power, we could use it to restore our ki mid fight. Combined with The Medigel that we still need to ask our wife to invent we could increase Tofoos ability to endure in combat.
By which I mean recover from shitty dice rolls and the whims of /qst/

Will Perfect Cell be a better suplexer than us? And does King Kai know about Trunks?
>>
>>1444137
Ah well worth a shot.

The Kais create life right?

Any chance we could convince King Kai to enliven Mars, the moon, and/or Venus?

With spaceships going public in a few months having living planets to settle would make a big difference.

I mean we -could- use the dragon balls, but I figure king Kai would prefer to flex his Muscles especially after the other Kais planet crack.

It would also make the inevitable genki drama much more powerful. Also, the rules for who can and can't use the spirit bomb are muddy as hell. What's the deal there?
>>
>>1448375
Have to be pure of heart to use it since you are basically learning how to draw energy from the surrounding area and living things. Basically you are stealing a bit of life force from everything around you and I think King Kai just doesn't want to teach it to everyone except a few people he believes won't abuse it.
>>
>>1448375
Moon might be a bad idea. I forget how we handled Monster Carrot in this quest, or if he was handled by Goku without us.
>>
>>1448375
Normal Kai's can't create new life, they're meant to observe the life-forms in their quadrant, and report to the higher level Kais

My bad, I missed this whole thread cause I was busy. And yes we have talked about before and lighting cloak wasn't shot down, we just haven't talked about it since I started this list so I forgot to add it. My bad guys, I'll make it its own thing on the list.

>Training base/ki control/meditation
1)Get our body to react against attacks we can't sense or cut the reaction time further(part of base training)
2)healing/ki manipulation invented by Mutaito
>develop new/improving old techniques
1)golden shout
2)nail gun
3)improve ki blade
-length
-electricity
>-blunt ki fist
-add to our legs instead of our arms kick slashes
4)Instant transmission
5)improve afterimage
6)dodonpa
7)kikoho
8)shin bear claw(basically ki nails, pretty simple)
9) ki shield/sheath(what it sounds like)
-prism shield
-warp shield
-bear skin
-hungry bear skin
-planet burst geysers
-kami/spirit breathing
-absorption field
10)shapeshifting
11) Kuma-Genocide/Kuma-Collider (Hellzone grenade basically)
12) Lighting cloak
>learning instant transmission
as stated above, but with added importance
>kick ass finisher
1)Bear maul(Wolf Fang Fist + Ki Sword + Bear Shout combo)
2)Kodaik Crash/Kurma crusher(Dragon fist but with a bear, name still in development)
3)Golden Roar(bear roar+golden shout or super golden shout)
4)Kuma-kenx2?(probably shouldn't focus on this at all due to most likely being extremely difficult and too much time being needed to develop this despite high chance of failure or stagnation. Still deserves a mention though)

While we might not be as (seemingly) innocent as goku, pragmatism doesn't necessarily make us unpure. Even if we were though, we could try to fix it. Go to kami for advice and then go on a journey to disperse the darkness within ourselves in order to attain inner peace and achieve a virtue of kung fu most true martial artists spend their entire lives to attain, which would ultimately make tofoo as much stronger warrior. I feel like that would be fun. As much as I love Z, it seems to just kind of let go of the cool martial arts aspect to the series that the original dragon ball did so great with. It would be nice to get some of those vibes back with a small arc like that during the 7 year period till buu would be insanely fun, in my opinion at least.
