Remove Kecleon From Premises

Character info pastebin in progress: http://pastebin.com/iB0tb7rz
Dice odds for best of 3: http://pastebin.com/994WTT3g

General rules:

There is a 10 minute voting period after each post. Non-contradictory votes will be combined as best as possible.

Write-ins for all votes are always welcome and encouraged. They may not all make it into the post or be altered to fit in, but I'll do my best to at least try to address the spirit of the write-in.

Very important or contentious votes may be redone in a stricter voting system as circumstances warrant.

Combat mechanics involve three rolls of 1d100, taking the best, and using the base accuracy and crit ranges of the game, roughly, but the 'turn order' will be more like the anime, where sometimes you can do a few moves in a row or be hit by a combo of moves yourself, all depending on circumstances. Stronger moves tend to take more time and have more cooldown than weaker moves, so beware of that timing. Speed is more important for closing ground, intercepting, and other things and doesn't necessarily mean going first. Infact, you can do more than one move in a row like the anime, but so can your opponents.

Call me out on a mistake and receive a suggestive picture, mostly likely a butt.

Pokemon:
Gobble (Munchlax)
Mace (Roggenrola)
Belladonna (Roselia)
Dice (Totodile)

Since I won't be sticking for long, I just want to take this chance to say you're the best, Gobble. I'll read anything you write.

Laki and/or Hana?
I'd have figured Keirafags wouldn't have the good taste to do so.

Dick at least had the strength to back up his dickery. I doubt this guy is going to be that competent.

You, Keira, and Laki have been watching the Kecleon from a hidden spot, trying to learn anything that can help you round up this invasive species and remove it from the island. You have a few observations:

One: The Kecleon seem to assume anything roughly Kecleon shaped is another Kecleon.

Two: Their talent to hide is a Pokemon Ability. There are some moves that can help with that.

Three: They avoid stepping on anything that leaves a footprint, meaning you can guess roughly where they’ll go most of the time.

Four: Not all of them have the ability to blend in.

And Five: They run from noises that sound similar to Odor Sleuth.

“So what do we do now?” Laki asks, looking pretty bored. That’s always a scary prospect, because she gets that mischievous look once she thinks up ways to entertain herself.

“Oh! I can paint pretty Kecleons! If we can make them move somehow, maybe the others will be drawn to them.”

“Not a bad idea, but once they see us, they’ll scatter. We need to knock them out somehow.”

(Continued, I hope)

“Beer money!” Chatot protests something.

“Oh hey, yeah! Good idea, Chatot!” Laki looks invested. “Sing could really help out. But we still have the problem of finding them. Even if we Sing them all to sleep, some of them will wake up right away, and we could just trip over others before we saw them.”

Keira fusses with something behind you as you keep your eyes on a pair of Kecleon. “They scare easily. Maybe we can spook them and that will give them away.”

“Okay. But how are we going to scare th- AHH!” An upside down skull drops in front of your vision. You scramble backwards a few feet before seeing that it’s attached to Keira.

“Paint can do anything!” She giggles and leaps onto your stomach. “Boo!”

Anything including give you a heart attack.

“Well, first thing’s first.” Laki lifts Keira off of you like a kitten. “How far are you willing to go? Because no matter how good our plan is, things can still go wrong.”

“I don’t want to hurt them.”

Laki sighs. “They’re pokemon. They’ll be fine.” She looks you in the eyes for a moment. “But hey, you’re in charge. If you want to do it the hard way, that’s how we’ll do it.”

Keira steps up. “You’re putting Herb in charge? You’re the oldest.”

“And you’re a priestess. But Herb is Herb.” She gives you a subtle wink. You feel like a million bicycle’s worth of money.

The girls look to you for direction. All the pokemon follow suit.

Jeez, it sure got warmer out.

Also, nice job with Max, you really made me want to punch him/pokemon fight him/punch him again. Although I think that'd be out of character for Herb.

“We can lure them out with fake Kecleon, then hit them with Sing and Sleep Powder.”

“Isn’t that what your people call a honeypot?” Laki asks.

“I don’t know.” You shrug.

“I like this plan.” Keira hops onto the log you were hiding like a frog. “We can lure them onto Wailmer. Once they’re on, Wailmer can go out a little bit and they can’t get back.” Wailmer’s back is pretty small, so you’d for sure get everyone with Sleep Powder and Sing. It’d be really hard to disguise and get them all the way onto it, though.

“Wouldn’t a big net or something be easier? We could hide it in the sand on the beach.” A beach would be wide open, but that makes distributing Sleep Powder harder.

“There was a pretty isolated pit on that one part we walked by. With a little work, we can make a small to funnel them into and then just cut it off after.” You suggest. The trees in it might make Sing less effective, but it’d be easier to put stragglers in if you miss any.

The three of you think for a minute. The location is important.

>We’ll take them to Wailmer
>We’ll take them to the beach
>We’ll take them to the pit

“The beach makes the most sense to me.” You conclude.

“It’s going to take at least a day to make a net big enough.” Keira warns. “I’ll leave that to you two. I need to get paint! Lots of paint!” Keira searches around, lifts a rock, and finds some moss she must need, because she scoops it all up.

Laki stretches. “I haven’t put together an old time net in a long time. Come on, Soft Hands. Let’s build you some callouses.”

Laki leads you around to show you what sort of fibers you’ll need. You’re a bit skeptical that it can be put together in just a day, but after you gather a small bit up and she starts, you can see how quickly the islanders are at this sort of thing.

“This is what Loanan’ culture is all about.” She beams. “People working together, and with nature, to solve problems. And I mean working!: She lifts a heavy pile of vines.

You’re much, much, much slower. Bella has a talent for it, but she can only handle smaller sizes and works on the more fine details. Mace is utterly helpless and ends up covered in some spare vines that Laki tosses aside for the moment.

“Mace, why don’t you stand guard and let us know if any hungry Slaking are coming.”

He leaps up, proud to have something useful to contribute. His head appendage gives a firm salute and he finds a good spot to listen from.

Dice is actually pretty decent. He’s able to do the really boring repetitive stuff over and over without complaint. He even seems mesmerized by it. Gobble follows you around and helps you collect things or lift heavy parts of the net.

Mace makes some noises to grab your attention, and points. You squint your eyes and see a few bits of tall grass move against the wind. It must be Kecleon!

You watch as they get a little closer. What should you do? You don’t want them to be scared of this area. But you also don’t know how smart they are and if they’ll figure out the plan with the net. You guess you’ll just have to hope Keira can do a good job of luring them in.

“Gobble, Odor Sleuth!”

Gobble makes a bit audible sniff. It’s working! You try to help by waving your arms, but you trip up on some rope and fall backwards. After some failing, you’re just about free, but you feel the rope jerk back and pull your arms apart.
>>
“Sorry Soft Hands. I saw you caught up and thought I’d pull you in.” Her face appears beside you. “Like a spiderweb.”

“Okay. You got me.” You lightly chuckle, expecting to be let go any second now.

“You’re making me do all the work on the rope.” She walks around you. “How am I going to punish you?”

You gulp.
>>
“All done!” Keira appears from the bushes with a heavy looking, improvised looking bag. “Lots of good paint here!”

Laki shoves you away, but you just spring in the net and come back to collide into her.

“What are you two doing?” Keira laughs.

“Just teasing Soft Hands here.” Laki gets up. “I could use some more help with the rope.”

The three of you work on it for a good while longer, building a good sweat and a decent net. You finally think you’re getting the hang of it.

“Whew. All done.” Laki proudly proclaims, tucking the last spot into the sand. “I wouldn’t even know it was here.”

“Here comes the fun part! Who wants to be a Kecleon? I have a few standup ones, but we need some to move around to be convincing.” She has a brush and an overly excited look in her eyes.

Gobble raises his hand, and she descends on him. When she backs away, he’s got a nice Kecleon paintjob. He dances a little and if you squint just right, he can pass.

Meowth volunteers too. A little catty, but it can work. Keira has Tropius stand behind a tree and only paints half of it, much to it’s lack of amusement. Mace, Nincada, and Cutiefly are stacked to back one single, bottom-heavy Kecleon as well. You guess it’s better than stacking them the other way around, at least.

“Sure. We’ll do each other.”

Laki rolls her eyes. “You know Hana isn’t here, right?”

You don’t get it.

“Okay!” Kiera leaps onto your lap with the paint. She bites her tongue and swishes and swashes the brush all over your face. “Hmm, not, not there. Ah, like this!” She swirls something on your cheek. “There. We. Go.”
>>
She lifts herself off to take a look at you from farther away. Laki bursts into laughter.

“I’m sorry, Soft Hands. But...but you have to see yourself.” She loses it again. She’s really making an honest effort, which makes it worse, in a way. But you can laugh at yourself. You make the mirror that’s handed to you.

“Oh wow!” It’s a good job. “You’re really good at this.”

Keira smiles. “Come on. My turn. Put it on my face.” She hands the brush over.

“Hana still isn’t here.”

You do your best, but you’re no artist. You have a little bit of understanding about color theory and what works with what. She had you take your shirt off to get your chest, but can you really ask her to do the s- nevermind. She tosses it off. She’s already got a healthy layer of paint, but you guess she expects you to add to it.

“Go on, Soft Hands.” Laki eggs you.

You paint as gentlemanly as you can.

“That tickles!”
>>
You collect your courage. You’re a more mature, experienced Herb. This is no big deal. You brush as you need to without worrying about what you touch. You lean down and get around her belly button, too. After awhile, you start to forget you have a human canvas. Then she moves and you become keenly aware of her hip bone, or she giggles, or she smells girly. You do your best to concentrate and really make it count. Kiera makes you smile a lot, so you want to put something happy on her. Something that will help Kecleon see what a nice person she is.

“All done.” You surprise yourself with the small hint of regret in your voice at being done.

She leaps up! “Great! Let’s get to work.”

“Don’t you want to see it first?”

She shrugs. “I felt it. I can tell you put feeling into it.”

“Showtime!” Laki announces and runs to hide. She must have spotted one. She peeks back from her hiding spot near the concealed half of Tropius. “That’s the expression, right?”

“Yup!” You go to follow Keira. You guess even someone like Laki doesn’t know everything about the mainland. In fact, you’re pretty surprised this is the first time she’s been unsure about it, now that you think about it.

Keira dances exotically.

“Keira, can you sense them? With your aura?” You try to act like a Kecloen. You don’t know what that entails, though.

“Mmmm I don’t know!” She leans back. “But definitely not while dancing.”

Gobble dances, and well. The wobbly tower makde of Mace, Nincada, and Cutiefly mostly works on keeping upright. Tropius, rather than dancing, acts like it’s found some food it’s interested in.

You decide to dance. You’re not sure to what beat, exactly, or what you’re trying to look like, but you don’t make a fool of yourself. Or at least, you don’t feel like you’re making a fool of yourself. You think that’s the important part.

“Yeah! You can move, Herb!” Keira encourages you. She quickly silences herself though, realizing that she’d give herself away by talking. She moves too.

You spend some time goofing around, and even grab Keira for a ballroom dip. She’s completely shocked at such a dance and whispers that she wants to learn more about it before shaking her hips freely. Something about the way she moves makes her hips look much more prominent than usual.

Gobble tries to show you some improvements to your dance, and since you’re running out of ideas, you follow his lead.

Finally, there’s a Kecleon. You can see footsteps scurrying up the beach.

Wait, there are already a few around.

Actually, there are a lot. When did they get here?

You keep dancing, and try your best not to look where you know Laki, Bella, Dice, and the others are.

Uh oh. Gobble is looking unsure. A female Kecleon is offering him a berry. He must really be a good dancer. You know how he eats though, and it has a lot of loud inhaling noises that are close to Odor Sleuth.

Gobble lets out a small squeak. You didn’t know he could squeak. He keeps eyeing the berry. He closes his eyes, looks a lot calmer, then he opens them.

The Kecleon has laid down a whole bushel.

You can see the slobber form around his mouth. From his eyes, you know he’s already committed to eating it. He’s just going to try for a soft landing and eat it without the noisy fanfare.

He leans down, carefully sniffs it like he’s only somewhat interested, and takes a nibble. You’re no aura reader, but you can see his shaking apart. But he’s pulling it together with sheer willpower. He nibble some more. That’s in, Gobble. Keep it up.

The Kecleon rubs against him and he inhales a whole bunch. A burst of delicious berry flavor You can see the feeding frenzy overtaking him. He’s breathing heavily. The Kecleon backs away.

You give Gobble a swift, but not harmful, nudge. Enough to grab his attention. He looks up at you, hunger in his eyes and slobber on his face.

You look back.

He shakes the uncontrollable hunger for a moment. You can see the struggle. Besides the concern, he also looks angry. Or at least, annoyed. You don’t remember ever seeing him give you that look. His hunger must really be something else right now.

“Slaking are hungry right now too.” You whisper.

That works. Gobble nods his understanding and quickly eats the berries with only a little bit of noise. You’re so proud of him! He’s still really hungry, but that should hopefully tide him over for now.

The paint on his face is smudged, though. You point it out to him and he squishes the lash berry against his face instead of eating it.

You look around and see the beach crawling with Kecleon. You guess that they all just kept coming to see what all the others were coming for. Keira’s hypnotic dancing doesn’t hurt, either.

You can’t imagine any more Kecleon could fit on the island. If this isn’t all of them, it’s most of them for sure. It’s about time to spring the trap.

Oh cranberry sauce! You didn’t even talk about what you’d do when it was time. You hope Laki has this under control.

You signal to Laki to start it. You’re not sure if she saw it until you hear the sound. The Kecleon all turn and look in unison. They’ve been dropping their guard, but now something is wrong.

There’s a bit of movement and confusion, but before it can get into full gear, they start to drop. Well, more like curl up and go into a comfortable sleep. You guess Laki doesn’t see the need to spring up the net at the moment.

Keira yawns. You catch yourself doing it too. You sure are heavy. And the growing pile of Kecleon sure looks comfy.

You catch Cutiefly and Nincada before they fall. Seeing a Kecleon seemingly fall to pieces terrifies a small one.

“It’s okay, little guy.” Keira tells him. You can see the realization on her face that she spoke, but it’s too late now. “It’s alright.” She soothes it again.

You see a few of the more resistant ones make a very sleepy crawl for it. Bella leaps from the bushes and gleefully hits them with Stun Spore. She looks way too happy to have that much control. It’s almost sadistic. But seeing her laugh and jump with joy still warms your heart.

You’re too heavy to keep watching, though. The sound itself coats you like a warm blanket. It reminds you of one time you were scared, and your mom sang you a song to put you to sleep. So nice. So comfortable.

You catch Gobble before he falls over. He licks the berry off of his face. “You did good, Gobble.” He smiles. You rest your head on his stomach. Good night.

You wake up to the sound of an intense battle. For a minute, you think it’s a dream. But it becomes more and more real as you snap out of it.

You’re lying on the sand, and the Kecleon are all within the net, still mostly asleep. You can see a trail behind you were you were apparently dragged from the group.

The battle is some sort of really strong looking Kecleon fighting Laki’s Chatot. It knocks it out with what looks like the last of many blows.

“Chatot, return!” She calls it back. “Meowth, you’re up!”

“What’s going on?” You ask nobody in particular.

“After you fell asleep, this one came out of nowhere and almost cut open the net.” Keira answers with perk. She doesn’t look like she slept at all.

“Go Laki!” You cheer for her against her opponent, the Kecleon that doesn’t seem to camouflage.

Laki gets momentarily distracted, but not enough to let the mighty Kecleon take advantage of it. “Meowth, Slash!”

Meowth moves to Slash and Kecleon strikes with Shadow Sneak. Both moves do nothing, but Kecleon dashes past Meowth and towards the net.

“Why didn’t it work?” Laki asks herself. She dismisses her concerns. “Meowth, quick, Bite!”

Meowth leaps after it. Both Pokemon tumble down a sand dune as Meowth bites Kecleon on the shoulder.

“Meowth! Be careful” She chases after them to see what’s going on. But she doesn’t even make it halfway before Meowth is sent flying back. “Meowth!” She catches it.

Kecleon drags itself back up the dune. It’s tired, but it’s still looks motivated.

Laki puts Meowth back in it’s ball, then takes Wailmer’s from her pocket. But she looks unsure. You can see her looking at the smaller practice net made of vines that she used to demonstrate the process to you on before. Is she considering going after it herself?

Bella stands by your side, growling at the Kecleon. It’s too far to even notice her.

Keira, on the other hand, is sitting and watching calmly, like it's no big show.

>Bella, go to Laki. She could use your help
>Yell to Laki to use Wailmer. She almost has it

“You and Wailmer can do it!” You cheer.”

She glances over to you. You’re not sure what that look is. Pressure? Disappointment?

“Go Wailmer!” She sends him out onto the water.

Kecleon looks out to the water, and decides it doesn’t need to worry about Wailmer all the way over there. It makes a run for the net to free it’s friends.

“Whirlpool!” She yells out in command.

Kecleon finds itself running, and then swimming, on a sudden swirl of water. Unable to escape, it instead fires a Psybeam at Wailmer.

The battle goes on for a bit. Wailmer, with its bulk, takes each attack in stride. But Kecleon is motivated and surprisingly strong. Eventually though, it finds it just can’t win. It decides to try to make a break for it.

“Oh no you don’t!” Laki throws a pokeball. It hits it right in the back before it’s able to vanish into the grass.

It wobbles once, twice, then clicks. Laki exhales in unison with it. But you notice the Kecleon all seem to be crushed with that as well. The net stops squirm and a depressing aura takes hold.

“Good job, Wailmer.” Laki waves to Wailmer, but she’s too tired to be enthusiastic about it. “I mean it. Once you’re healed up we’ll get you a good treat.” Still, her tone doesn’t keep up with her words.

You look at the net and the little Kecleon that Keira cheered up. It looks scared. You reach to pet it, but it wiggles away.

You wonder if there’s a lesson here.

I don't think Laki really wanted to catch it with a pokeball, but it's not like we encpuraged her to do that. She didn't have to throw the ball after it was KO'd. But, if she's upset over it she can't release it for the same reason she couldn't release Wailmer after she caught him, because of weird traditions or whatever.

Hopefully she won't be too tore up about it. She probably would've gotten hurt trying to catch it wih a net anyway.

And while I get that he's an ass, I think we should make sure to call him maxamillion in-character. People keep calling Herb the wrong things and I'm sure he's sympathetic. Plus, it's not like Herb to start shit. Assuming we see more of the guy, that is.

Call him Maximillion when we see him again, he starts acting passive aggressive again like the little shit is bound to do because that's going to be his role in the quest. Then we can call him Max. He's literally been created as a Nega-Herb and probably is meant to represent the bad that bringing civilization to the islandsns could do.

Best way to do it is by imitating best role model Laki and give him a shitty nickname to butter his biscuits the wrong way

Maxabillion. Maxatrillion. Maxaquardrillion. Maxathousand. Maxahundred.

I can see Herb using "Oh, sugar honey iced tea!" As an exclamation. Maybe he doesn't even realize that it stands for oh, s.h.i.t.
