Future Naruto Quest

This quest is set within the universe of Naruto, long after the end of the series, but ignoring the events of the Boruto Manga and Anime. Of course, because this is Naruto we're talking about, the geopolitics and technology haven't advanced as quickly as they would in the real world. As such, the technology is similar to that of Boruto the Movie, though a bit more refined, and the villages you know and love are largely the same, though their diplomatic situations may not be.

However, the characters will be less familiar, because as much time has passed between the Last and now as passed between the Founding of the Hidden Villages and Shippuden..

You are playing as Kuro Nijiiroh, a fifteen year old Hidden Leaf Chunin. Once a member of Hōōmaru Tachibana’s Team Seven, along with Hakurin Hyuga, and Jimmaru ████ Uchiha. Your family consists of your older sister, an ANBU Black Ops, Shirou; your mother, the restaurateur Ki; and your father Aomon, a Tokubetsu Jounin who specializes in Hand Seals, also living with you is your cousin Haiiro, who's mother sent her to attend the Ninja Academy.

You've returned to the World after three years of being consigned to the Moon for general Otsutsukery, and also the degradation of the diplomatic order of the world.

Pastebin of Kuro’s Stats: Coming Soon

Last Time, Kuro arranged a vacation in his girlfriend, Baratsuchi. Err, in the Hidden Stone with his girlfriend that is.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

After getting everything squared away with your family the same afternoon as your mostly-successful phone call, you spend a quiet evening at home, surprisingly not seeing much of Shozun.

You hope that Shirou hasn't gotten to her.

After an energetic sendoff from Haiiro, who gives you a handbook for romance, you head to the train station, boarding an early train to the Hidden Stone you settle in for the ride.

>A) Get some rest, you were up kind of late last night.

>B) Brush up on current events.

>C) Take a look at that book Haiiro gave you.

You decide to brush up on current events, surfing the web on your voyage to learn a little more than the basic information you've already gotten from speaking to people in general.

The World Shinobi Congress has split between members, though still officially an entity it is now divided along factional lines. One of these new, unofficial blocs is headed by the Hidden Rain, while the other is headed by the Hidden Frost. The cause of this division is mostly unclear.

It seems the only reason that the Five Great Nations Alliance hasn't taken advantage of this is that there's infighting among them as well. The Hidden Leaf and Sand seem to be squaring off against the Hidden Mist and Cloud, while the Hidden Stone stays out of it. The power of the aristocracy seems to be dividing the Great Nations, with the Leaf and Sand having a vested interest in weakening the Daimyo, and the Mist and Cloud Daimyo having increasing powers.

Aside from all this, disappearances are more and more common in unaligned nations, like the Snow and countries bordering the Land of Iron.

You spend most of the day going through this, and the bullet train arrives in the Hidden Stone around sunset. The sun setting over the mountains is a sight to behold, and you greatly appreciate the fact that rail travel is so much faster now, even if the option is more expensive.

Stepping off the train, you spot a well-dressed man holding up a sign with your name on it.

>A) Go to him.

>B) Explore the station a bit more.

>C) Call Baratsuchi.

You approach the man holding the sign, he appears to be some kind of chauffeur.

"Kuro Nijiiroh?" He asks, rather cheerfully.

"Yes," you answer, a tad hesitant.

"I'm here on behalf of Miss Baratsuchi, she regrets not coming down herself, but she needed to finish preparations, I'll accompany you to the manor." He tells you with a smile.

"Thank you," you express your gratitude, following him to another section of the station.

Your guide leads you to a part of the station where trolleys are lined up side-by-side. All of them are in good condition, but he leads you to a small one absolutely shining. It's the same model as the others, perhaps a bit updated, with a sharp silver and pink paint job. You know that the rich enjoy significant privileges in the Hidden Stone, but Baratsuchi's family really has enough sway to do something like this?

You're pretty surprised, but board the car nonetheless, your guide getting into the conductor's seat. You sit down on one of the cushioned seats, marveling at the interior of the car, which belongs in a manor more than it belongs on a trolley.

>A) Sit back and enjoy the ride.

>B) Ask the chauffeur some questions.

"Hello, Kuro! So good to hear from you," she certainly seems cheery, "so you've finally come to the Hidden Stone proper, how do you like the hospitality so far?"

>A) It's great.

"It's great," you respond with a genuine smile, "it's good to just kick back and relax."

"I'm glad you like it, some foreigners think that we can be 'ostentatious'," she says the last word with mocking venom.

You chuckle lightly, "It's charming, really," you respond to her concerns.

You carry on with the small talk as the trolley carries you deeper in to the village. Eventually, you start to go uphill, it's a rather steep incline actually. You say something about this, and Baratsuchi perks up.

"Oh wonderful! You're almost here!" Your girlfriend is extremely cheerful.

Looking out the window to the front, you see Baratsuchi's home. It's practically a palace, huge, even compared to your mansion back on the Moon. It's a stone structure, three floors, except for some bits at the corners which are five, two wings extend from the sides of the main structure, projecting away from you. This is all atop of one of the plentiful hills of the Land of Earth, sitting on a well-kept patch of greenery, there's a considerable fence around the grounds as well.

"How do you like it?" Baratsuchi pulls you out of your ogling.

>A) "It's a castle!"

>B) "How rich are you?"

>C) "It's beautiful."

>D) "It IS ostentatious."

>E) "You're still the most beautiful thing in there."

>F) Something else (What?)

"It's a castle!" You respond, feeling her smugness leak through the receiver, "I bet it was built to protect the most precious thing in there, you." You lay on the romance, and feel.

"Oh Kuro," she says, rather flustered. "It's great that you kept that silver tongue despite the Moon."

"If I changed too much I might risk losing you, and we wouldn't want that," you tell her.

"Save it for when we see each other," she responds playfully.

That should be soon, so you hang up with a truncated farewell.

The trolley stops at a remise inside the walls, which is practically a train station in and of itself.

Stepping into the covered building (which is even heated, what are the operating costs of this place?), you catch site of Baratsuchi for the first time in three years.

She's certainly grown up, but her style is largely the same, her hair is even styled into drills, though she's upped the number from two to five, and they're smaller. She's even got on a gothic pink dress. She's now shorter than you by a few inches though, which you like, and her erm, assets, have certainly grown, which you like even more. Her eyepatch has gotten flashier somehow, black bordered with pink stitching with a pink rose in the middle, and metallic pink straps made to look like rose stems.

>How do you greet her after all this time?

You move to Baratsuchi, engulfing her in a hug before she can react, and planting a kiss on her lips, which she greedily returns. When you break it off, she looks you over.

"Wow Kuro, I really like the new look," she puts a hand to her chin, "well, except the robe," she clicks her tongue, shrugging, "ah well, we can go shopping while you're here, come now, I'll show you around."

You follow Baratsuchi out as her people carry your things off of the trolley.

The pinkette shows you through the grounds in front of the house, a few flower gardens and a fountain being the standouts, before she shows you into the house proper.

"Ah, it's getting late," she observes, "I'll give you a tour of the house tomorrow, for now you must be hungry, or tired, would you like to see the dining room, or where we- you'll be staying?"

Baratsuchi cocks her eyebrow, which you would probably misconstrue as surprise, if you weren't able to see the pink line atop her patched eye as well. "I'm sure that my chefs are more than practiced enough to feed you, Kuro, even if they aren't cooking prodigies like you."

You grin, following Baratsuchi to dinner, which is baked lobster, along with mushroom polenta. It's very good, Baratsuchi wasn't wrong, but you're sure that you and your mother could beat Baratsuchi's chefs handily.

Once dinner is done, Baratsuchi gets up to lead you to the bedrooms.

She shows you what she means when you reach her room. Between her actual room and the hallway is a small room without much in it, besides a chair, a small table, and a twin bed.

"I'm just through here," she says, tapping on the door to her actual room, "I'm not sure why it was designed like this, but it's certainly convenient."

You just change, your luggage being placed here before you got here, and go to bed like a kicked puppy.

When you wake up in the morning, you hear Baratsuchi getting ready for the day in the next room. You do the same, waiting for her in the dining room when you're done, enjoying a breakfast of crepes and coffee.

"Where's your favorite place in the village?" You ask as you step out the door.

Baratsuchi seems surprised by this.

"Oh, well, I'm sure that you don't want to go there, it's not very exciting, and it's really an acquired taste," she says, uncharacteristically shyly.

"Yes, I do Baratsuchi," you tell her, looking her in the eye.

"Fine," she concedes, "but it's not really the place for romance, or anything but solemn respect really, got it?"

You tell her that you do, and after a short ride to the bottom of the hill, follow Baratsuchi through the winding streets of the Hidden Stone.

After a long walk, nearly four hours, you come to a large graveyard a short distance outside the village, to the north of it.

"I'll go with you, it would make me feel bad if I let you go alone," you tell her.

"Alright Kuro," Baratsuchi says with a fidget, "um, thanks."

Again, you let her take the lead, and the two of you end up deep in the cemetery, in a very nice, sunny section.

You're in front of a small, sealed mausoleum, the names and, birth and death dates of Baratsuchi's brother and mother on plaques on the side.

Baratsuchi instructs you to sit on a bench facing the monument while she approaches it. After a minute, she comes to join you.

"Sorry if it's a little somber, but I like to come here sometimes, I know, it's odd..." she trails off, rolling her unopened parasol in her hands.

Sitting with Baratsuchi for a few minutes, holding her hand, you decide to break the silence.

"What were they like? If you want to share, that is," you ask Baratsuchi, not expecting too much.

"My brother was younger than me," she starts, "he was father's favorite, even though he looked up to me more than anyone else, you already know that we..." she trails off, lightly touching her left eye.

She goes quiet for a few more minutes.

"My mother was beautiful, and so nice, and caring," she sighs, "my brother took after her I think, I got more of my father." She then adds, "my personality, that is, I know that I can be cold and aloof Kuro, but it's just..." she sighs, "it's just part of how I deal, and it's just me."

Baratsuchi cocks her head, "Night life?"

"Yeah, like clubs, and bars, and what not," you answer her.

"Oh," is her reply, "well, I guess, if that's what you'd like we can find one."

After another, considerable walk, along with nightfall, Baratsuchi leads you to a large, gated, well lit building. "How is this?" She asks, gesturing at it.

"Not the kind I meant," you tell her, before finding a restaurant online, and practically dragging your date there.

You sigh, not sure if you should blame yourself.

"Anyway, the rest of the moon was beautiful, an endless expanse of forests and lakes, it was a great place to go out and be alone honestly."

Baratsuchi opens up a little more as dinner goes on, engaging you in conversation talking about the moon.

You tell Baratsuchi that you could handle a day of shopping.

You could not handle a day of shopping.

By the time lunch rolls around, you're hauling such a volume of bags, hatboxes, and various other containers for your girlfriend, along with some things she bought for you, that you need to call the mansion and get them hauled up by someone else.

When lunch is over, it's back to shopping.

Once your adventure in shopping is over, and you return to the mansion, Baratsuchi holds a veritable fashion show of what you both got during the day.

Finally, what felt like an A-ranked mission comes to an end, and you feel like you just want to keel over and sleep.

"I suppose it could be interesting to see how the Hidden Stone works," you offer Baratsuchi.

She agrees to give you a tour of what she's certain won't get her in any hot water, and switches out her eyepatch to one with a small metal piece on it, stone emblem carved into the metal.

When you get down to the village, once again taking the trolley, Baratsuchi leads you to the military section, a series of buildings built into the thinner promontories towards the center of the village.

While walking through this section, Baratsuchi speaks to you with a bit of smug pride in her voice, "I'm sure you could give me a comprehensive enough tour of the Leaf's facilities, but I'll show you what jounin clearance gets me here." She flips one of her drills back with a flourish, "So, what do you want to see first?"

"What do you call it?"

The eyepatch-clad girl just shrugs again.

"So, if you're a jounin, why not get a genin team? You were pretty strong, last time I checked, and you have been promoted since then." You decide to get a little more personal with your questions as you ascend the winding staircase inside the tower.

What about the Tsuchikage?
>>
"But could be fun though, if you think about it," you offer to her.

Baratsuchi rebuffs you, "I have thought about it, I don't see the real fun in it."

You do remember Baratsuchi's own three-man team being... less than in-sync.

"I see," you say, letting the conversation drop.

Baratsuchi leads you through a door at one of the highest floors, gesturing into the atrium, "This is the heart of the village Kuro," she tells you, "or at least the chest cavity."

The room you see in front of you is a large reception room, but it also looks like the room where important missions are given, and the council convenes in the Hidden Leaf. The walls are grey, as is the ceiling, but the floor has a tile pattern with the character for 'rock' on it. Against each wall are a few chunin (you assume) on banks of computers facing the center of the room. There's no one at the long table at the head of the room with the character for Earth behind it. To either side of the table are two doors, both of which look official, for whatever reason. There's an elevator next to the stairwell you came in from.

>A) "So where's the Tsuchikage?"

"So, is this where you get missions?" You ask Baratsuchi, looking around the room.

"No," she responds, "this is where we report about them though, and those chunin are taking mission requests," she gives a sweeping hand gesture to one wall. "Midoritsuchi did this kind of work for a while, I thought she kept up with it." She adds. "I'll check on what they're doing."

Walking over to one group of chunin, she gets the one on the end's attention by slamming her hand down on the desk in front of him.

The younger ninja jumps.

"You, what sort of missions are you taking in today? And usually there's a girl, about my age, green hair, less attractive, where is she?" Baratsuchi shoots off the questions in quick succession.

The chunin, probably your age is flustered, and his coworkers are ignoring the situation unfolding, just doing work on their computers.

"W-well," the intimidated boy begins, "should I say something like that in front of a-"

Baratsuchi cuts him off with a harsh inflection, "It's fine, just tell me what's going on, now."

"W-well, it's mostly D-ranked stuff," he says, earning a withering glare, "b-but there's some B-ranks, and even A-ranked! Um, mostly just standard infiltration stuff into the Congress," he explains.

"And the ninja I asked about?" Baratsuchi pushes.

"I-I know her, Midoritsuchi!" He answers, "she's in the field, some sort of mission into the Land of Iron, she was in a team with some genin and a jounin, like you, Bakatsuchi or something!"

"That will be all," she tells the boy to his relief, turning back to you. "So, that's what goes on up here, mostl-"

The door to the right of the head table bursts open, the Tsuchikage storming out, "Baratsuchi, what have I told you and my brother about coming in here and disturbing the Mission Selection Team?" She demands.

"Lady Tsuchikage," you greet the Stone's leader, "it's good to see you again." You stand attention, not wanting to offend.

"Ah, yes, hello," she greets offhand, before continuing to admonish Baratsuchi, who seems to be taking this in a cavalier and impatient manner.

"Wait, who are you?" The kage turns to you, not recognizing you, which is understandable.

"This is Kuro, he's my boyfriend, from the Hidden Leaf," Baratsuchi tells her superior hugging your arm.

"Really?" She cocks her head, "I thought he looked somewhat familiar," you're surprised that she doesn still recognize you, though the whole Otsutsuki thing probably helps.

The Tsuchikage pauses for a moment, thinking.

She's not dressed in the way you'd expect a kage to be really, a halter top and flared pants under a long vest. Other than the changed wardrobe, she looks how you remember.

"What are you here for, Kuro?" She then asks, eyes narrowed.

"I see," she tells you, "well then I hope you're enjoying the village so far." Her expression goes from a considerate smile to one of thinking again, "I'm glad you're not here to change allegiances, that would take way too much paperwork."

"Lady Kongoya, come now, don't joke about that, Kuro was sent to the Moon because the Hokage was paranoid," Baratsuchi defends you.

"Well, what Marui wanted at the Jinchuuriki Conference certainly didn't1" the Tsuchikage bites her tongue, "don't talk about that sort of thing out in the open again!" She orders Baratsuchi, "you and him haven't been talking like this in public, right?" She asks Baratsuchi.

"Of course not," Baratsuchi states matter-of-factly, "and I would think it would be safe to speak right outside of a Kage's office," she adds.

The Tsuchikage rolls her eyes, "Well, is there anything either of you need while you're here?"

The office door shuts as Baratsuchi reacts, "Rein me in? What does she mean by that?!"

Baratsuchi crosses her arms, "I see, well then..." she lets the subject drop, "What do you want to see next?"

"What are the clans like in the Hidden Stone?" You pose to Baratsuchi.

"Clans?" She seems somewhat puzzled by your question, "oh, yes, right," she stops in the stairwell, leaning against the wall.

Your girlfriend thinks for a few moments, "Well, in the Hidden Stone your family doesn't really matter if you're a ninja, your ability does. There's only one real major clan here, kekkei genkai aren't as exclusive to clans as they are in the Leaf, in fact, I can't think of a single Lava Style user related to me."

"Wait, ability is more important than family? So I wouldn't have been sent to the Moon here?" You start with.

Baratsuchi shakes her head, drills bobbing behind her, "No, I don't think you would have been, though it helps that Lady Tsuchikage is so understanding."

"What's this one major clan like?" You ask.

Baratsuchi snorts, "Ugh, they're the worst, just a bunch of gearheads obsessed with their Explosion Style really," she pauses, "there are other clans, of course, but they're the only one that really matters."

"Isn't there a clan, or at least a family, that the Tsuchikage all come from?" Is your follow-up.

"It's a formality really, the current Tsuchikage's father and grandmother were both adopted into the family, it has to do with strength and the use of Kekkei Tota more than anything else."

Speaking of bloodlines from the Hidden Stone, "What kind of kekkei genkai are there in the Stone?"

Baratsuchi thinks for a moment, before listing them off on her fingers, "Lava Style is most prevalent, expressed through quicklime; besides that there's Scorch Style, which you've seen Byakatsuchi use in the Chunin Exams; there's also Magnet Style, but that's pretty rare."

Before you can ask her more personal, she remembers something, "Oh, there's also a dojutsu, but even with my clearance I haven't been able to learn much about it."

"A bit, but I don't see why not," Baratsuchi answers honestly, "I suppose that I could show you the Sensory Division next, that's what your father works in, right?"

"Well, sort of," you start to answer, "he's actually the overseer for the Sensory Division and the Barrier Team," you then correct. "But I do think that it would be interesting to see what it's like here."

Baratsuchi leads you through the winding streets a short ways to the heavily fortified office building that is the Sensory Division's Headquarters.

Inside, it's a pretty sparse building resembling an office, but full of people sitting in VR gear, guarded by a couple of chunin per floor.

When you're going to leave, Baratsuchi introduces a man entering the building to you. He's got some sort of headgear on, covering one of his eyes, as well as both of his ears, and he's a bit heavyset, but otherwise nondescript.

"Kuro, this is Hantotsuchi, he's the head of the Sensory Division hear," she tells you, pulling you both aside.

Baratsuchi answers for you, "Kuro and I are involved," she answers, almost offhandedly, "I'm just returning the favor of a tour to him, he gave me a tour of the Leaf after all."

"I see," the older ninja nods, "well, don't get into trouble." With that he leaves, though you're surprised to find out your father has such foreign connections.

Baratsuchi takes you there, a more open part of the village. Classes are already out, so she shows you around the whole thing, which is similar to the Academy in the Hidden Leaf, if not more vertical and with less bright colors.

After this, you decide to see the sights, which today just consists of Baratsuchi leading you into one of the taller hills. You watch the sunset there with her, sitting together in a small park full of water features. It's a truly beautiful sight, the sky is more colorful than it is in the Hidden Leaf at sunset, a corona of purples and pinks, though the ground itself is quite dull.

"I'm sorry, but this was a fight," you tell Baratsuchi, "do you want to continue?"

Pulling out the majority of chakra-hardened hairs from her bust, "I-I'm fine, that was just, really, not... whatever," she shakes her head, getting into a defensive stance again, though you suspect she'll fly off right as you begin again.

When you do begin again, she does just that.

You manage to tag Baratsuchi with a Water Bullet, which manages to stagger her, but doesn't prevent her from spitting out a spiny stone wall that protects her from any further Water Style attacks.

Holding the shield in front of her (it must be lighter than it looks), Baratsuchi rains down a hail of slushy red-hot spheres surrounded by fire.

Quickly weaving the hand seals for Lightning Style: Ball Lightning, you create one in each of your hands, and, linking them together, you throw them in front of you.

Last Time, Kuro reaffirmed the fact that he's great at beating women.

Lunging to the side, you shunshin around the fireball after you dodge it, and instead of appearing in front of Baratsuchi, you slide past her, clotheslining her at the collarbone, where she was injured before.

Baratsuchi goes down coughing, calling out "I give up!"

Baratsuchi comes back after about five minutes, clavicle wounds healed and seemingly quite refreshed.

"Alright Kuro, I'm ready when you are," she offers, taking up a position across the ring from you.

Your attempt to capture Baratsuchi in a sticky mitt of Starch Syrup is thwarted by a blade of earth she raises to block it.

You're beginning to feel some fatigue creeping in, though you can see Baratsuchi is breathing heavier than you are.

Though your Water Style is naturally weak to her Lava Style, you do have one thing you know that she won't be able to block.

You weave the correct hand seals, and though you keep the frequency low, you still have a Chidori crackling away in your right hand.

When you raise it to attack, you feel something engulf your hand.

Looking over, you can see that there's a reddish ball that's encapsulated your hand, Lightning Style still active underneath.

Abandoning your flashy ninjutsu, you elect to simply drop-kick Baratsuchi in the face.

It works.

Baratsuchi sits back up after you knock her down, waving a hand in front of you as she holds her jaw with the other.

"I give up!" She says slowly, before taking her hand away tentatively. "You win Kuro," she concedes, "good job."

>A) Say something to her (What?)

>B) Go do something else today (What?)

>C) You're tired, just go back to the mansion.

>A

Apologize for the last move, it was a bit rude.

>Give her hug and say she is good fighter.

"I'm sorry," you offer Baratsuchi an apology, wrapping her up in a hug, "you're a good fighter, it's just that you get cocky sometimes, and you don't always see every possibility."

"Thanks Kuro," she says, before the hug breaks off, "and I'll ignore that last part."

You enjoy the rest of the day in together, getting yourself more caught up on all that's gone on in the time you were on the Moon.

>End session, next run Friday night, I'm falling asleep at the helm here.

>A) Say something to her (What?)
Apologize and ask if she wants dinner
