The chamber was humid with steam rising from several heated pools where small creatures swam and fed on algae or each other. A tree made of branching bone rose up from the ground, its leafless crown lost in the ceiling above that flickered with an imitation of a night sky. In the center of the chamber were two glass pods laid on their side and opened, bio-gel splashed over the edge and puddling around the feet of the former occupants.

The pair of Warblood stretched their limbs as they looked around the room, their tongue flitting out instinctively to taste the air. Wiping the bio-gel from their scales they quickly move to the waters edge and lower their heads to drink deeply. One of them stands, their dark scales shining in the soft light as they turn their head to look around the chamber closely while the other focuses on trying to snatch an eel from the pool.

The inquisitive Warblood runs their large claws over the bone trees branches curiously, taking a startled step back when they accidentally break off one of the thinner branches then letting out a laugh that most other species might take as a threat. Tossing aside the branch the Warblood inspects the room, occasionally dropping down to all fours as it explored each corner. Finally it returned to the other by the side of the pool and took the offered fish, the pair hungrily devouring their first meals. They spoke haltingly, testing out words they somehow knew but never had actually spoken, sharing their names which were their designated codes while they were growing.

A portion of the far wall suddenly separates and pulls back before sliding away and Guir enters silently. He stood in the back and observed the Warblood as the door slid shut behind him, leaving no indication of seams in the surface. They continued to eat undisturbed for several minutes until he began to approach, their heads snapping up and quickly rising to their feet. They stared at the Blackscale, the empathic sensors under their feet detecting recognition and confusion as Guir lifted his hands and stopped several yards away from the larger reptilians.

A twisted grin spread across his face, "Greetings, my kin, I am Guir. Welco-" he did not get a chance to finish as the sensors detected a sudden surge of aggression and blind rage flashing through the Warbloods moments before one of them inhaled sharply then spat out a ball of orange flame. It washes over the Blackscale as its venom ignites on contact with the air, the necromancer recoiling instinctively as the other Warblood launches itself claws first heedless of the flames that would not harm it.

Yet both reptilian and flame passed through the Blackscale unhindered and the hologram flickers then fades with the last wisps of flame. Enraged the Warblood begin to rampage through the room in search of the missing Blackscale, who merely watched the display standing next to Valresko from the safety of an isolated chamber.

Guir sighs and shakes his head, "How disappointing."

Elemental Event - Arc Surge
>An unusual increase in Arc energy throughout the sector, and possibly the galaxy, allows for Arc based technology and weaponry to work better than expected including boosting research speed concerning related experiments. Arc wielders also report an unexpected ease to their abilities, once lofty feats coming easier to even the freshest novice.

>Anti-Wraith Technology Development: The Think Tanks believe they may have progressed as far as they can working with the Mindvines without sharing more information of Quasiphasic Disruption theories

Completed Research:

>Solar Technology: After many setbacks and struggling against the naturally resistant Solar energy the Think Tanks are proud to have finally reached a break through

>Advanced Orbital Construction: The Think Tanks have finalized the theories and schematics for what could be one of the largest construction projects in the local sector

Unlocked:
>Solar Armor: Armor made of dense boneplates meant to help a Solar energy wielder to focus and enhance their abilities. Typically a pale white the armor can be applied to a simple or medium exosuit with spouts in the limbs focusing Solar energy into concentrated blasts. It provides its wearer increased protection against ballistic attacks, and the ability to connect to a Solar based weapon to increase its damage and special effects. A Solar Heart can be added, granting a non-energy manipulator weaker forms of the abilities a natural user can generate.

>Wormstars Fist: A truly impressive feat of engineering and technology this construction bridges and connects all four of a planets Wormstar Fingers into a unified Fist. This ring encircles the equator of a planet split into a multitude of armored segments linked together by flexible portions similar in effect to a truly massive bone-chain. The ring provides even more space for starships to dock at a multitude of docking pylons along with ship repair and construction pylons spaced along the inner edge of the ring. Anti-ship defenses are abundant along with many docking bays for defensive strikecraft. Additionally portions of structure are atmospherically maintained and dedicated to receiving and harboring living guests in comfort with the potential for long-term habitation. By uniting the orbital platforms of the Wormstar Fingers allows a planet's development score to further increase without affecting the surface environment, providing an additional 60Development to a planet in regards to resource generation. Cost: 1,000,000B 2,000,000M

Passive upgrade:
>Due to increased knowledge of Solar based physics and energies Necrotic powered devices and Reconstructed gain a slight resistance against Solar energy attacks.

>Solar Farms have been refined and streamlined, producing an additional 5Biomass

Research Unlocked:
>Arc Relay: Medium - A proposed new method of travel using the Arc due to the Arc Drives significantly increased performance during the Arc Surge and the Think Tanks increased knowledge of Sub-Space physics

>Solar Weaponry: Medium - The Think Tanks are quite eager to begin weaponizing Solar energy

>Solar Engine: Slow - Think Tanks believe they can replicate the Sunscale's Solar-based FTL if given time

>Solar Reconstructed: Medium - Valresko is quite eager to create Solar-infused Reconstructed to add to the Armada's forces

>Solar Agriculture: Fast - With the aid of Solar-empowered Armatocere the Think Tanks hope to improve their methods of agriculture and biomass generation

>Orbital Shields: Slow - With the fragility of the Wormstar Fist and Fingers the Think Tanks propose more measures to defend them

Spindles moons were quickly becoming footholds for the Armada as they moved in after clearing out the feral undead sealed within the buried bunkers and outposts. Cauldrons were brought down for the Reconstructed to throw the piles of downed undead into them, recycling the precious biomass as the others stripped the bases for resources and supplies. Alarmingly, within the bunker the Immortal and rogue Necromancer had claimed there were chambers that held what could only be prototype Cauldrons, large pits cobbled together from scrap metal and filled with caustic fluids and necrotically charged biomass. A quick examination revealed they were far from nearing completion but in the small personal lab of Necromancer Graim there were samples of Reconstructed chitin and even several fingers and teeth being analyzed, likely donations from the Immortal itself.

Scatter's orbit once again held ships of non-Armada make, refugees returning or volunteers from Hearth descending to help clear out the swarms of wild undead that roamed the dry world and hid in the vast sandstorms. In the largest population centers protected by the Necrolytes and Reconstructed during the worst of the sieges the Armada continued to help rebuild and even improve on their homes, new homes and buildings being constructed with undead aid. They even began to show them how to create and tend to large Armatocere inspired hydroponic farms while Entropic Excavators burrow underground in search of aquifers deep below to establish wells.

Craw-bombers and Molten Reconstructed search through the ashes of Scatters moon, the once great forests reduced to charred wastelands as great storms of ash fill the air and hide the undead. Refugees from the moon, upon returning and seeing their once verdant home now gray and scorched from orbit, grew either despondent or enraged. Enraged at the undead plague and at the Confederacy for ignoring them. The moon had once been one of the few truly peaceful locations in the system, a near paradise compared to it's parent world and the other planets in the system and many of its former residents approach the Legionnaires, requesting either to join the Legion or for ways to repair their home.

In fact, through the system, as the Armada helped begin the process of construction and rebuilding many of the locals began to profess their intention to join the Armada. Although discussion seemed to range widely among the population many argued whether or not Refuge should become an official Armada territory. Some wished to become an independent while others argued that the Armada had done more to help them in a few weeks than the Confederacy ever did in years. Whatever the side, they were eager to accept the Armada's help regardless.

Orbiting Spindle was the Charnel Vault, the massive flagship of bone and metal surrounded by a flock of protective sub-capitals and clouds of strikecraft. A single Voidknight Disciple guided the defensive patrols, finding it an honor that Jadyk selected them to guard him during the crucial process.

Within the flagship you and Jor tended to and guided the process of Reconstructing living flesh while keeping the mind intact. Most of the non-elemental Necrolytes had survived the transformation, their forms kept suspended in the liquid biomass as their minds adjusted to their new bodies. It was the Necrolyte Commander, the trio of Voidsingers and the sole Arcdancer that proved to be a challenge, coaxing their elemental energies to accept the process and merge with it without rejection. Life energy, gathered from Iti'a'Ropku and the wildlands of Horizon's Drop had been transported as well and was now put to good use in aiding the process, feeding both you and Jor along with the newly undead.

Thanks to your own Void powers and experience with it you managed to keep all four from overwhelming themselves with their own power. The Arcdancer was more difficult, the energy mostly unknown to you and Jor in addition to the Arc Surge making the process tricky but it in turn allowed it to be studied easier. In time Jor managed to gain an understanding of the Arc, guiding the process of Reconstruction while keeping them safe.

The Commander proved troublesome for a time, his Void corruption quite advanced by this point. Once he had begun to thrash in the pod as Reconstructed bone was fed into his Void flame in an attempt to secure and focus it, a flare of gravitic energy cracking a glass panel before you managed to gain control once more.

Hours passed and finally you and Jor awaken from your trance, the humans normally dark skin pale and soaked with sweat but he smiles in tired satisfaction and nods, "I think we did it, Lord Jadyk."

Unfolding your legs as you look down at the collection of glass pods, each filled with liquid biomass and newly Reconstructed soldiers, you give a nod as well, "I believe we did, Jor. Thank you. But now, they must rest and adjust, allow their minds to grow into their forms," you say, placing a hand on the cracked glass, the biomass churning underneath pulsing with dormant Void and Necrotic energy.

M'kay. Since these unproven guys have been given immortality,i'm thinking they should be a Suicide Squad, going in missions in order to test the full capabilities of the Immortals, especially the elemental ones. If they manage to survive their(not necessarily so bleak)suicide missions, then they can consider Immortality their pension.

Jor excuses himself to go rest, the human for once feeling the desire to sleep after the intensive process. He fell asleep quickly in an isolated chamber, not even minding the bed was little more than a hammock made from musclefibers stretched from wall to wall.

Feeling slightly drained yourself you return to the bridge of the Charnel Vault and your throne. Once seated you begin to rejuvenate by feeding on the last of the stored life energy while looking over the various reports that had piled up during your absence.

One report states that your smuggler trio had spent much of the night after being dismissed going to search for recruits among the loyal Armadans with some apparent luck according to how many had agreed. You had informed them of the Control Worms, stating that it was a symbiot meant to protect them, listing off its medical benefits including the ability to produce antivenoms and toxins to avoid being poisoned as well as psionic connection. Buddy had blanched at the idea but both Clud and Eigha surprised you by their openmindedness to the prospect, the netu stating that implant organs were a fairly common thing among the Pirate Clans and Netu ships, he himself already having a detox organ and oxygen recycler. It had taken some convincing but Buddy finally gave in and they were due along with their Necrolyte guards later that day to have their Control Worms and Spinal Taps implanted.

Valresko and Guir send a report of the initial reactions of the Warblood, the chamber being filled with knock-out vapor to sedate them for further tests and reprogramming. Guir also sends along that Beqor and Raakah had arrived at the coordinates provided and were awaiting their Blackscale cousins in the distant star system even though you had a Harbinger on board the Pestilence itself.

Red-Leaf-Strains sends word that the largest collection of osogo pilgrims were only hours away from the city, the necromancer gathering a large greeting committee for them. She says she is proud to welcome them to Iti'a'Ropku but requests the presence of a Harbinger to show your support for them.

A message from the Lavafather through the Punishers state that they had fallen back from the Ahkam systems due to the increased numbers arriving. They warn this is likely a prelude to war, the Lavafather stating that if he was an Ahkam under the effect of the Arc Surge that he would use this chance to strike at both the Empire and Armada. He goes on to advise that you prepare for incoming invaders and that he and his Obsidianborn fleet will be there to fight alongside you.

Jareth and Ruscuv claim the Empire seems to be hunkering down, likely aware of the Arc Surge and predicting the advance of the Ahkam. They had calmed their raids, letting their ships repair as they observed their enemies and plotted. Ruscuv seemed to enjoy working with the Voidknight in antagonizing the Osjiic, stating it was fun to be waging war after being stuck as a fossil for so long.

The distant Teuthan system report comes in from the stealth fleet sent to investigate and news is grim. From high orbit scans and observation it appeared that Teuthan was under the control of some kind of Necrotic force. What appeared to be high-functioning zombies carried out work at reinforcing and building new structures without the aid of envirosuits even in airless or toxic environments. Necrotic energy sources were detected on the various worlds, particularly Honiv where a strong signal emanated from under the growing colony being reinforced with anti-air defenses.

The Armatocere and Ructu continue their training at a good pace, both groups on differing worlds advancing just as fast as any of the Necrolytes had. Of particular note the instructors point out the mute ructu Vekke and the pale Sapling are progressing faster than the others in learning the Necrotic ways.

There was a report from a Think Tank on Clour that states a Gargoyle had discovered evidence of a spacecraft having landed near the anchor city but neither patrols nor scans had detected anything in the area. From the impressions in the dirt it appeared to have been a craft slightly smaller than a corvette with only a faint radiation and necrotic energy signal lingering in the area. The Reconstructed of Andai have gone into high alert, the Think Tank stating that it was likely an unknown stealthcraft but baffled how they managed to avoid the Gravity sensors.

There was much to do and tend to. What shall you do first?

The pair of Warblood clones had collapsed into a deep slumber amidst the shattered remains of their cloning pods, the chamber slowly vented of the sedative vapor. The pair stood at the window overlooking the unconscious Sunscale, Guir muttering to himself about reprogramming and adjustments.

Valresko turned and gave a bow to the Harbinger that drifted in, Guir turning to bow as well once he noticed. The Harbinger nods in reply and moves to the window to look down as well, your voice issuing from the Reconstructed, "That was quite a definite reaction."

Guir's tail flicks in annoyance but he nods, "I am glad I sent a hologram instead of myself. Perhaps with longer programming they would be less aggressive."

Valresko shifts his faceless gaze from the Blackscale to the Harbinger, "The reaction to a Blackscale is ingrained into their very being. This is the same reason why even zombie Warbloods will defy and attack a Blackscale."

The necromancer hisses but could only nod, "Perhaps but there is still hope for a breakthrough!"

Hands clasped behind him Valresko turns back to look down at the Warbloods, "Perhaps, but that will take time."

"What would you suggest Guir?" the Harbinger asks.

He taps his chin with a claw, the warped lizard pondering for a few moments before answering, "Attempt a more thorough reeducation perhaps. Turn this group into Knights for your armies and start fresh with a new batch."

And you, Valresko?"

"Forget Warbloods. The other castes appear loyal enough. Begin the second phase of the long-term project," he says and Guir looks at him in shock.

"Without Beqor and Raakah? I would need both with me if we are to attempt that," he says, beginning to ramble, "We would need more Sunscale DNA, more samples from other Blackscale. We would have to work on creating stable splicing techniques, not to mention working out which traits would be best to carry over and which to drop..." they continued to babble on, more to themselves, until the Harbinger holds up a hand to silence them as you think.

How shall the project proceed?

How can we hope to fully make use of the Sunscale,to defeat them and/or convert them, if their is a caste that we cannot crack?

Start it,but only the groundwork. We've only just started work on the Warblood,so we have plenty of leads left to follow.

"You will begin the next phase of the project. Guir, I leave it up to you and the Think Tanks to begin the process and your siblings will assist you when they return," you state through the Harbinger and the Blackscale gives a bow but you continue, "You may also attempt reeducating these or creating a new batch but your focus shall be the creation of the new caste. Also, I would appreciate if you and your siblings held up your end of the agreement to create for me a legion of Blackscale Knights for my armies. This will be your opportunity."

"Of course, Lord Jadyk. I will have more Warblood cloned, working on a portion to improve their reprogramming while the rest will be dedicated to the creation of the Knights. I am certain my sister and brother will be happy to assist with that task," he says with a gurgling chuckle and bows low.

The Blackscale departs from the chamber and begins speaking rapidly with a demi-Think Tank before the door even slid shut.

Valresko watches silently as below several Dirges enter and telekinetically lift the unconscious Warbloods into new med-pods awaiting them. Finally the Harbinger speaks, "I know this assignment has been...tedious for you, Valresko. Fear not, my son, you will be required soon enough."

The Solar Dominator nods, his faceplate cracking as he spoke, "I have seen the reports about the Arc Surge and the Ahkam. I have already been thinking of plans for when we make our preparations. I have warned the Arbiters that their time for training will be ending soon and that they will have enter the battlefield to fight for us. Once Sur-Quro returns from Horizon's Drop, she will prepare them for war."

"Very good, Valresko. She is proving to be an apt teacher, not only to the other Arbiters but to Ructu and Armatocere as well," the Harbinger chuckles, "I hadn't realized the irony when I selected her to be the spark that ignites the Solar flames among the Armatocere until we stood together on that platform and felt her guilt."

"She views her new life with the Armada as a penance for all the crimes she carries from the UON. Her dreams are full of guilt, regret, and shame but she is starting to feel pride at her gifts. I have high hopes for her," the undead General admits.

"Tell me, Valresko, what do you think of the current state of the Curou sector and the approaching battles we will face? I plan to have a group discussion with you and the other Generals very soon but I would like to hear your opinion first," the Harbinger says with your voice as it turns to face him.

Valresko taps a claw against his chin in thought for a moment, "We must prepare for increased aggression from the Ahkam, this is quite apparent. As any intelligent force would do, they will take advantage of the Surge to expand their territory as they likely have in the past. Speaking of which, I would double or triple the defenses on our own Ahkam "guests" particularly Vlekarak, he was formidable even before the Surge began.

"The Osjiic Empire will likely focus more on preparing to defend against the Ahkam as well. The Arcs power over the Void has been what kept the Dynasties and Empire on roughly equal ground for the last few centuries despite the Empires greater military might. I have no doubt they are aware of this phenomenon and are making preparations against it," he says and pauses in thought once more.

"Indeed, for our Ahkam guests the walls of their cells are practically completely lined with layers of Glutton Crystal to keep them contained," you say and Valresko nods in satisfaction.

He speaks again, starting to pace as with his hands clasped behind his back as he concentrates, "My advice, Lord Jadyk? Give as much aid and resources to the Lavafather to increase his fleets and strength in the Drakon system along with our own. I would suggest sending either of the Punishers to assist in structuring Caldera.

"He and his kind hate the Ahkam almost as much as the Sunscale hate the undead and their technology is largely immune to the Arc. The Armada relies on Void energy almost as much as Necrotic, everything from our combi-drives to a soldiers jump-pack requiring it. The Lavafather will be key to facing the Ahkam I believe," he says firmly.

"I will make sure to take those points into consideration at the discussion," the Harbinger says and Valresko gives a small bow of gratitude but gives a slight start of surprise as you ask him, "How are you, Valresko?"

It took him only a moment to reply, "Concerning the loss of Nekris?" he asks and the Harbinger nods. He was silent for a moment as he stopped pacing, "Nekris was a powerful ally and brother. The Armada would not be what it is today and has lost an important General who I doubt could ever be truly replaced

"Forgive me for saying but it is somewhat...shameful that he met his end in so inglorious a way. I had expected nothing less than an Ahkam Matriarch or a rogue lich of your or Ruscuvs strength taking him down," he admits, "I am...mournful of his passing but the universe does not stop for the loss of one being, no matter how important. Certainly he would not wish us to linger on his death but rather learn from his examples in his undeath."

You could sense his melancholy at the subject but that everpresent determination just beneath it. The Harbinger gives a nod, "I believe you are correct, Valresko. He will be remembered and missed but his legend will help inspire the Armada and its people."

Excusing yourself as your mind slips away from the Harbinger the undead puppet drifts back to the alcove of Chitin Choir statues it typically waited in. Valresko once again turns to look into the chamber where Boneclusters were meticulously cleaning up the debris from the Warbloods rampage.

He found his thoughts straying from the upcoming battles and future strategies, drifting toward the brother he had rarely spoken with beyond planning for conflicts. They were similar he realized, each the first of their Elemental Order, their powers ripped from the bodies of Jadyks enemies. He thought of Eiton then and surprised himself at the sense of bitterness and anxiety he felt.

Tapping his claws against the ground for a few moments he waves a demi-Think Tank over and begins searching through the short list of names of Solar potentials among the Armada. He knew that like the Predators, Voidknights, and Punishers, he required a second in command, someone to carry on the Order should he experience the True Death unexpectedly.

In a circular chamber in the Charnel Vault your throne places itself at a large table and you send out a mental summons across the Armada. In time holographic images flickered into being around the table, the Voidknights, Punishers, Predator, Dominator, and Illuminator all appearing along with Ruscuv at the other end. They nod and greet each other, several glancing or bowing their heads toward the empty space next to Eiton. Finally they all turn to you to salute and bow their heads, the illusion making it seem as if you held all your Generals in one room, a feat that hasn't been accomplished since the early days of the Armada.

"I am grateful to have you all attend this meeting. Regrettably the Necrolyte Commander and Necromancer Jor are...indisposed," you say with a nod to their empty spots.

Lorgul's hologram leans forward on the table, "How is the Commander by the way? Do we need to induct him as a Voidknight to save him?" he asks in concern.

You shake your head, "That will not be necessary, Lorgul. I believe Jor and I have stabilized him and he should be awakening shortly."

The Voidknight nods, "I hope you have a proper name planned out for him," he says and there was scattered chuckling from the other Generals.

Was there anything you wished to address with your Generals all gathered together before planning commences?

Its probably time to start mass producing(relative to current production) ships. Preferably small, fast ones, so that we can attack the Akham shipyards and delay their attack, or atleast force their attack to happen sooner with fewer ships if they feel confident.

"Before we begin, I would like to formally introduce you all to my sister lich, Ruscuv. She was one of my greatest allies before my imprisonment and I know you will all treat her with the utmost respect," you say and motion to her hologram that had shrunk her down to a more manageable size.

The others turn to bow their heads in greeting but she lets out a rough laugh and waves a hand dismissively, "Calm yourself, Jadyk, I am sure they'll be polite. I have been learning of the history of the Armada and I must say I am impressed by your collective and individual accomplishments. Each of you has brought glory to Jadyk's reborn Armada, the Wormstar would be proud of this new generation," she says with a bow of her head, tendrils writhing faintly as the Generals nod their thanks.

You nod as well, those gathered turning back to you, "Now, let us discuss our future course of action. Valresko?" you say with a motion to the Dominator.

Valresko nods and began to speak, the hologram flickering as it struggled to capture the flames that issued with his words, "As you all know the galaxy is under the effect of an Arc Surge. This paired with the info gained from our Ahkam guests and the Eyegore spies we are fairly certain that Quantac'Vrix's Dynasty is preparing to make a major offensive against the Armada and the Osjiic Empire," as he spoke displays of the local sector map were projected showing that Ahkam forces were gathering in the Tura and Rolan systems, "We have detected the presence of multiple Ahkam serpents, likely juvenile females and males to open the Storm Gates for their fleets.

"This has caused the Empires systems to reinforce and draw in their defenses, likely already aware of the Surge by their own methods. This means the chances of a retaliatory attack against the B'Nan system decreasing significantly although the Ahkam may attempt to push through and attack the system themselves rather than the D'Hrin or R'Jur systems," the Dominator says.

Jareth was the first to speak up with a bow of his head to you, "Forgive what may seem like cowardice but with this Arc Surge I have noticed that my own powers seem...dampened. I fear we Voidknights would be a liability against the Ahkam forces at this time," he ignores the annoyed look from Lorgul, the second Voidknight more cautious than his predecessor, "I would have the Voidknight Order and continue to strike at the Empire or focus on reinforcing our worlds."

Eiton nods, "I was worried you may think I was insulting you if I raised that same concern," he says then looks to you, "With my own increased power I could deal a lot of damage to the Osjiic but you will likely need me to face the Ahkam as well. I feel they may also decide to strike at the Armada due to them believing the Surge might give them the power to resist Necrotic energy."

Punisher Agona, normally quiet and reserved, speaks next, "The Lavafather is certain that Bastion and Rukor will be among their targets to avenge losing the sytem. Obsidianborn fleets are prepping themselves to intercept with a picket fleet readying to keep watch over Rukor and her children."

Muic by her side speaks, "His tacticians have asked me and Agona to suggest a joint invasion against the Ahkam to throw them off-guard before they can strike first. The Lavafather says that if we can slaughter or capture enough of the serpents while the Arc Surge is in effect their vassals would lose faith in them. That to harm their gods this much even while the Universe favors and enhances them would be further proof against their divinity. I believe he is correct."

Illuminator Tlacex thumps a heavy fist against the table in front of him as he spoke up finally, "I would be honored to fight alongside the Punishers and our Obsidianborn allies against the Ahkam. Send me and I shall bring the light of the Wormstar to incinerate them in your name, Lord Jadyk, to show them what true power is like."

Those gathered turn as Ruscuv speaks, "What about your Armatocere friends? Would they be willing to assist in defending Armada held worlds? I doubt they would be willing to launch antagonistic attacks but they seem eager enough when it comes to defending themselves. Their firepower would be quite valuable against the Ahkam when they attack."

Once more Jareth speaks, "It would not hurt to ask them for assistance in defense. After all, due to Lord Jadyks generosity they will be gaining a massive technological and scientific leap once our Armatocere guests return him with their new elemental gifts. The least they could do would be to help protect ourselves and allies."

"Could we ask them to assist in Refuge?" the Illuminator questions, surprising the others, "I have seen the devastation that the Blight Hunger has wrought on its worlds, seen the pain in the faces of the living as they looked at destroyed homes or loved ones among the dead and undead. The Armatocere helped aid the people of Rukor in their time of need, I believe they would be willing to help should we ask it. I've seen the records of what their terraforming is capable of and I believe that they would be ideal for the system."

"That is quite generous thinking, Illuminator," Ruscuv says with mild surprise.

Tlacex nods and his beak pulls back from the large blunt teeth in a grin, "It will further ingratiate the people of Refuge to the Armada. It will also show that the Armada has the backing of the Armatocere, one of the strongest and most persistent factions in this galaxy. Having them aid the people of Refuge can only improve the image the common populace of the Confederation has for both the Armada and Armatocere."

Valresko nods in agreement, "I admit your suggestion has some logic to it."

How shall the Armada advance in their preparations for war against the other factions?

What do you mean? That we have so much more metal?
We can always trade metal for biomass with Armatocere.

You know that it takes several turns to build ships, right? We won't be able to immediately react if an enemy makes a massed assault.

I think it is because people don't realize how massive the entire war potential of the Empire and Ahkam are. It has been said repeatedly that if either of these powers makes a dedicated effort, they could wipe us out.

We keep focusing on our ground units and heros but they won't help jack shit if we ever lose space superiority.
>>
>>1458586
Sorry man. I'm a permanent phone lurker and only decided to chime in on this because I feel that it's a critical oversight on our part.

Our fleet power should be overwhelming compared to our enemies. To do that we need to at least have some idea how big their fleets are.

Perhaps we should send scouts to their systems to keep an eye on them?
>>
>>1458595
>>1458592

Lets us our quick attack craft and stealth fleets to hit those ships and fleets baring Serpents too keep them thrown off guard. Even if they don't 'kill'em it'll show they aren't untouchable even if the galaxy is on there side.

We should also keep up our hit and runs on various shipyards/refinerys/ect across both factions.

Ask the Armatocere if they'd be up for a metal/Bio deal and also if they'd be willing to help out convert Refugee and give the whole 'were the good guys' vibe.

While this is going on, Pump whatever we could spare into bringing the Obsidianborn fleets up and leave it to the Lava father where those resources go.

I'm open for any other suggestions from anon's

>>1458598
I believe so, plus the fact we never have enough anon's or 'vote' when Graves is here to do the trade with the Armaocere. I'd love for us to our metal/Bio at least more equaled out.
>>
>>1458595
Deploy the punishers throughout our space to shore up both the ground and space borne defenses of the worlds they're sent to. Send Agona to B'Nan to further aid in the construction of defenses while Muic can be stationed in Urdir.

Let's not ask the Armatocere for anything expensive like terraforming for now, but instead ask them to support the defense of the Worllunan system. It's newly held and lacks any secrets we might want to kept concealed but it is becoming an increasingly vital producer of resources and ships. Plus, they will be on hand to support any Armadan fleet action against likely Akham incursions from that position. For now, ask them to continue providing aid such as food and medicine to Refuge but let's hold off on giving them the really valuable boosts until they've decided if they want to join us or not, can't give away the really good stuff for free.
>>
>>1458595
I believe we should ask for Armatocere help. It seems to me that Arc surge won't have much effect on them. They should also help in Refuge system.
>>
>>1458595
Ask the Armatocere to replace most of our forces in Refuge, thereby freeing up most our forces there ,increasing our ties to them in the eyes of the galaxy, and speeding up the healing of the system using their special tech.
What I wish to happen is for an attack to take place on one of the Akham worlds, composed of obsidian born and necrotic forces, preferably cheep, shoddily made ones(though not obvious from the exterior.,all together sizable enough to be considered an "attack fleet". It should strike shortly before Akham reinforcements are expected, thus giving the Akham confidence when our forces "retreat". When they pursue, we will have an ambush ready, composed of the majority of our necrotic and arc forces. One the enemy fleet is pinned in combat, our void forces will then attack, and with the Akham already preoccupied with our other forces, they shouldnt suffer as many casualties.During this,we should capture as many Akham as possible. Once defeated,we will then bring our fleet to Akham system we just "attacked" and use the sight of their gods captured forms to break them. If that works, we can then try it on the next nearest world. I doubt we have the forces to successfully occupy more then two new worlds.
What do you guys think?
>>
>>1458610
I support making a trade with Armatocere. Perhaps we could set up a more permanent trade deal. Like 2.5m metal for 2.5m biomass. That would put our income on more equal levels.

Don't forget to triple our defenses against our Ahkam guests. Maybe we should even have a talk with the butcher.
>>
>>1458595
The Eyegores state that judging by the Ahkam fleets they appear ready to attack at any moment and appear to be waiting for their orders so the window of opportunity is shrinking.

>>1458622
I respectfully disagree that asking the Armatocere to fully replace our fleets in Refuge is a good idea. If we want to win over the adoration of the people there we need to remain the 'face' of the intervention into their system and continue to provide the backbone of any relief effort into the system. There's also the issue of the Confederacy deploying aid there themselves and no doubt trying to win back the system through shady means. We were the ones to negotiate with Confeds, so it has to be us who visibly heads the effort and keeps the warships in the system.

Another reason we should limit the amount of terraforming the Armatocere do on the populated planets. It's cool if they're keen on just cleaning up the mess of centuries of pollution, though. Seriously some of these worlds are a mess.

>>1458628
Man we should totally do a trade with the Armatocere for resources. The comparative lack of biomass is the primary limiter on how many ships/troops we can produce right now.

"Illuminator Tlacex, you will join the Obsidianborn in attacking the Ahkam before they can launch their own attacks. Punisher Muic, I will have you organize the Obsidianborn side while making plans with him while en route. We must make this strike soon," you say after a few moments of consideration.

Tlacex and Muic salute, the Illuminator bowing his head, "Thank you for this chance, Lord Jadyk. I will not fail you."

"The Ahkam will pay for their arrogance, Lord Jadyk," Punisher Muic states before their holograms flicker off as they begin their preparations and establishing a communications link between themselves. Across Armada space Reconstructed and Obsidianborn ships grouped themselves and prepared for departure.

"Punisher Agona, I would have you go to Caldera and assist the Obsidianborn in speeding up production of their warships. I want them to have an impressive force and soon. We will discuss the resources at a later time," you say and Agona salutes before her own hologram flickers out.

"The rest of you I want to continue working on our defenses. B'Nan, Worllunan and Drakon are our most vulnerable and we need to protect them," you look to the Voidknight then Eiton before you speak once more, "Before you begin though, you have new Disciples to initiate. Our very first volunteers, both accomplished warriors of the Legion. I am certain they will bring glory to the Armada."

Eiton bows his head, knowing about Orvca's decision and already preparing for her arrival while the Voidknights looked mildly surprised at the news of the Arc Predators receiving their own.

With their orders assigned you dismiss them and they salute before their images began to flicker out until only Ruscuv remained. You look at her expectantly and the lich finally gives a short laugh, her tendril curling, "Alright fine, I'll speak first. Why did you not send me against them with the Illuminator and Punisher? Speaking of upgrading Jadyk's body later, can we clone or synthesize Ahkam bones, and would they still be Arc conductive? Cloning an Ahkam and harvesting the bones could work as well, maybe. Although now that I think about it, we do kind of have to expand Jadyk's current pool of raw power and mastery over it before he will be able to absorb the Arc.

I think the only way that's going to happen is if he level grinds in the sort of combat he used to engage in, so that's another reason to send him out with Ruscuv.
>>
We seriously need to upgrade Jadyk's body
>>
>>1458857
With what exactly? He's already more durable than any other humanoid reconstructed we've made, and a big combat form would make for a bigger target.

When you're packing as much space magic as Jadyk you don't really need the physical strength to punch a battleship in half. Though it is nice.

"I had planned to question whether or not you wished to. You may join them, of course. Show them how the old Armada waged war. I expect this little plan of ours will force the Matriarch out of hiding. When that happens, I would have you personally join me to take her down. Besides Akka-Tor and yourself, the Matriarchs are the strongest entities I've encountered since my freedom," you say, hands folded on the table in front of you.

Ruscuv chuckles and nods, tendrils coiling with excitement, "I shall do my best to draw them out. Do you wish for the first of our targets to be alive or dead?"

Claws tapping on the table in thought for a moment, "Do as you see fit depending on the situation. Alive would be preferable for the Cauldrons of course although Eiton would still find a use for their bones and scales I am certain."

Ruscuv gives a bow of her head, "Of course, brother. I shall go prepare my ships and troops."

"May the Wormstars radiance guide you, my sister," you say.

"You as well, Jadyk," she replies before her image flickers out, leaving you alone in the chamber as you continue to drum your claws against the table in thought.

Now, there was some issue apparently with railroading so I'm offering a chance to retcon who goes where.

So far it's Tlacex, Muic, and Ruscuv joining the Obsidianborn in raiding the Ahkam with the intent of killing or capturing as many of the serpents as possible. The others are off preparing defenses for the inevitable Ahkam invasions.

Are you all okay with those three being in the raid or do you wish to swap Muic out for Agona?

"Lord Jadyk! I think they're about to wake up," came the message from Jor as he spoke to a demi-Think Tank knowing it would relay the message to you.

Drifting through the halls of the Charnel Vault you nod as Jor joins you, "Sleep well?"

The necromancer nodded, "Don't have to sleep all that long anymore when I'm not in Iti'a'Ropku," he says with a grin.

Entering the chamber where the pods held the new Immortals you could tell there was already movement inside several as their occupants shifted. A medical Reconstructed drifts by, it's multitude of frail limbs dragging its hovering form across the surface of the pods as it examines them each in turn. With a wave of your hand the one in the center containing the Commander lifts up and moves over, setting down gently in front of you.

Jor glances at you then at the pod, the glass opaque from the dark biomass within but the human lets out a small yelp and jumps as a six-fingered hand slams against a panel from the inside, claws scoring the glass. He lets out a chuckle and shakes his head, mildly embarrassed at his reaction.

"Shall we awaken our friend?" you ask him and the human nods, gripping his reaver staff as he felt the Void energy within growing in strength.

Reaching out a hand you place it on the pod and Jor mimics the motion. Both of you send shocks of Necrotic and Void energy into the pod and the movement grows nearly frantic within as the large form begins to thrash with waves of confused panic washing off of it. This activeness spread from this single pod to the others in the room as the other Immortals started to awaken.

Stepping back the pods are lifted up onto one end as the pipes connected to the pods in the room begin draining the biomass. Before it could drain completely the glass spiderwebs with cracks suddenly, Jor and yourself throwing up a telekinetic shield as the pod bursts out from within with a blast of Void energy sending caustic biomass flying along with shards of glass and metal shrapnel.

A large form takes an uneasy step from the broken frame of the pod and you look upon one of your favored servants in their new body. Once an osjiic of flesh and blood the creature that stood before you was a large Reconstructed superficially similar to the osjiic or Punishers. Three meters tall with heavy blackened bone armor that ripples with Voidflame along it, the armored skull turning its eyeless gaze around the room before locking on you and Jor.

Their mouth works, struggling for words at first before finally croaking out, "L-Lord Jadyk? Jorrr?" They recoil slightly at their new voice, a six-fingered hand reaching up to feel the chitin segments around their throat then up to their face, feeling the teeth exposed with no lips and the smooth bone where sockets and eyes should have been despite being able to see clearly.

Jor's smile widens, "It's us, my friend. Do you know who you are?"

The newly Reconstructed stands there in silence for a moment as they looked down at their hands. Finally they clench them into fists, Voidflame engulfing them before he looks back up, "I am...was the Necrolyte Commander. I...I am unsure who I am now..." he says and looks at you, "Lord Jadyk..." he says before he kneels before you, head bowed low.

Reaching out you place a hand on his bowed head, "You were among the first of my loyal subjects. You were the creator and Commander of the Necrolyte Legion. You are the liberator of Refuge and protector of it's people. Now, you are the first of the loyal Immortals.

"Your loyalty and skill has been found worthy of Immortality and you have secured eternity with the Necrotic Armada. Arise, my loyal soldier, my friend. Arise, Commander Rethak, first of the Immortal Voidsingers, arise and join us," you say and step back.

The Immortal osjiic stands and salutes with a fist thumping against his armored chest, "Thank you, Lord Jadyk, I will serve you, the Armada, and it's people until the day my bones are dust and my flame snuffed embers."

Jor smiles and steps forward, clapping a hand on Rethak's arm, "I'm glad you made it, my friend. Rethak," he corrects himself then grins, "I was going to suggest that Jadyk give you a name like, Bob or Moe. How's it feel to be to Death and then pass through it?"

Chuckling Rethak gives a small shrug, "Painful," was all he said before he turned to look at the other pods that were draining of the biomass to reveal their occupants.

Many of them looked panicked or confused as the pods opened and they stumbled out. The trio of Voidsingers rippled with Voidflame while the single Arcdancer, once a netu, crackled and distorted the light around them as they all inspected their new forms. Their heads snap to face you as you send out a mental urge for their attention and they approach to kneel before you.

"You thirteen have been granted one of the highest honors of the Armada. Your loyalty and service has not been ignored so in order to save your lives I have taken you through Death and into Eternity. You are the first of the Armada's loyal Immortals, the living Reconstructed, and I have no doubt you will continue to make me proud," you say to your new Immortals.

Rising to their feet they saluted and almost as one intone, "For the Wormstar! For Jadyk! To Death and through it to Eternity!"

>>1466909
Ask him if there are any physical enhancements he'd like before getting too used to his body. Also ask how painful the procedure was, hopefully with a wormstar-approved smiley face pain chart; we need to know if all the abducted immortals will be as crazy as that last one or what.

Alright, I'll try and word this as constructively as I can, because I really do enjoy this quest and wouldn't want this brushed off.

What you did you was simply had Jadyk make a decision with potentially far reaching implications which none of the players made. Nobody said anything about the Dracon system or suggested that it was as relevant to our defenses as our core worlds at any point in this process. Nor did you seek our collective opinion on the decision before committing to it. In essence you overruled the player votes without regarding the their thoughts on the matter.

Now sure, it could be argued that Jadyk was just making calls here based on information we've failed to consider personally or so on. We sometimes fail to pick up on things that would be blatantly obvious to a ancient lich and I would expect Jadyk or other characters to do things we never thought of. But if it's something that important why did you put it to vote in the first place?

The easiest way to avoid this would be to hold a simple Y/N confirmation vote before formally starting an action, at least for the really significant decisions like which general is to defend which planet. That could clear up any misunderstandings and make it much more obvious to us as players what the Armada and it's members have set out to do.

And again, I really do like this quest. You tell a fine story and your skills at telling it have only improved over time, so please don't take this as just shitposting.

The Immortals, their forms imitative of their bodies in life, fell silent as you raised a hand and spoke, "With your new Immortality there are certain benefits. Beyond your memories and minds you are essentially the same as the Reconstructed you have fought under and beside. Your new bodies will feel no hunger or thirst unless you desire it, your forms able to be reshaped and enhanced by the Cauldrons, and time will not touch you so long as you remain with the Armada.

"In order to adjust to your new forms you are considered on medical leave for the moment," you say and several of them chuckle, "Should you have any questions or concerns, speak to a Think Tank, a Necromancer, or myself and one of us will do our best to assist you. Now go, learn and enjoy the first day of Eternity."

They salute and bow their heads before they begin to mingle, talking to each other in excited and curious voices. Many were already talking about having the loadouts of their armors switched over to their new forms or which adaptations they wanted, a human Immortal eagerly stating their intention for wings like the esat or Scourges.

Rethak chuckles as he turns away from his soldiers back to you and Jor who quips, "They're taking this better than I thought. I would've been at least a little alarmed at waking up a Reconstructed."

The Immortal snorts, folding his arms across his chest, "Perhaps you should see how it's like. Plenty of open pods," he says with a nod to the med-pods that were sliding back across the room to line up neatly along the wall.

"I think for the sake of diplomatic needs, Jor shall keep his flesh. For now," you say, the Commander chuckling as Jor grimaces. You look to Rethak, "Again, I am glad to see you appear well. How is your emotional and mental state? Any lost memories?"

He turns his eyeless gaze to you then shrugs, "I feel...giddy, I guess. I was certain that last mission would mean I either died or end up here. This is certainly the result I wanted," he says with a small laugh that sounded almost weary, "I know I don't have to sleep but...I do feel tired. Most of my memories feel intact, I think. Probably need to think on that one but..."

He glances around the room, focusing on the medical Reconstructed that was already fussing over an Immortal after they had tried seeing how hard they could punch now, their freshly forged chitin cracking from the blow, "I can hear them," he looks back to you, "The Reconstructed, I think I can hear their...thoughts? No, their impulses, I guess," he shook his head in confusion.

You glance at Jor and meet his own gaze before the human spoke to his Immortal friend, "That is how it is for Necromancers. I suppose it makes sense, you are now Reconstructed as well."

Rethak nodded and looked to the Immortals, scanning them for a moment then jerked his head back to Jor, "Where is Rosa?"

"Officer Rosa is currently recuperating in a nearby chamber. She suffered grave injuries but survived thanks to Necromancer Klikli's capabilities and your aid in defeating the rogue Necromancer," you say to him.

"Good, she is too valuable a warrior to lose. What about Arcdancer Orvca? Did she survive?" he asks, remembering how she threw herself in the way of the Immortals blades with an Arc Blink to save Jors life.

Jor answers this time, "She and one of the other Voidsingers, they survived barely. Before they passed out from their wounds they both requested that they be given to the Void and Arc Temples, to be Reconstructed into Disciples. Orvca will become the first of the Arc Disciples while the other becomes the first volunteer Voidknight Disciple. Lorgul and Eiton say they are proud to welcome them personally to their orders."

Commander Rethak nods, "That is...good. Orvca spoke of how highly she admired Nekris and Eiton. She was a valuable soldier, even back when we served under Sub-Admiral Estkri. She'll be a powerful Predator, in time," he says, even though he felt the loss of losing such an old ally.

"Of that, I have no doubt," Jor said then nods to the Immortals, "Come on, let's go talk to your troops. It's a dead-folks party," he says with grin and the Commander lets out a laugh and follows the necromancer to join the other Immortals.

Satisfied you quietly back out of the chamber even as you keep a mental eye on them through the Reconstructed in the room. You were glad they seemed to be taking to their new states well, the unhinged Immortal leaving a bad expectation for the process. The Deep Rot agrees to keep a close watch on their behaviors for any deterioration that may occur.

Drakon was mentioned so much because of Valreskos assessment he gave Jadyk before the meeting. I thought I saw support for his advice but granted, I probably misread since it was late and my comprehension was less than I'd like.

The marshes were thick with flying creatures buzzing through the air as human, vorh, and itru workers waded in the waters filling bags that floated on the surface full of the grains, tubers and fruits that grew abundantly in the stagnant water. Canoes and flat skiffs skimmed along the surface as the Calerans toiled under the smoggy sky, the air cloying and humid even as the sun dipped toward the horizon. There was a shrill whistle that was picked up and repeated throughout the marsh farms and the workers began to climb aboard boats, glad the long workday was over while they were ferried toward the city perched on the wide flat hill. It was where the rail-lines and highways that crossed high over the swarmps and marshes converged, a lone skytower barely rising over the city rooftops with only a single Council Militiabarge tethered to it.

The city itself was densely packed, building stacked on top of each other to make the most of the area set above the swamps, the streets narrow and twisting and often consisting of several layers. The factories that existed in the town were among the oldest, forming the basis for the multitude of shacks and cheap housing that grew on their roofs and coiled along smokestacks like mushrooms, many of their workers living just above the factory floor.

The only places that were open to the air without the shanty sprawl consuming them were the train station, where the rail-lines converged in a large building or into the cliff-face just above the swamps, and the nearby prison, a small walled off corner of the city. They each had a small barracks of stationed troops while the majority of the city's militia resided in the skytower garrison.

It was these two location that Gargoyles scouted and explored, the Reconstructed seeming to appear out of thin air as they had departed from the cloaked Coffins and emerged from the pockets of distorted air and sound. It didn't take long for them to find a proper landing spot on an isolated roof and soon the soldiers that the Wayward Disciple had reprogrammed were walking the streets and walkways as if they were simply on patrol. Their Spinal Taps kept them in a constant awareness of each other as they meandered through the city, locals nervously parting for them as they passed on their way toward the prison.

Elsewhere other Coffins set down and ghostly figures slunk into the city as night fell dark upon it. Specters silently traveled through the city, passing without the countless locals realizing how close they had been to the incorporeal undead. They scurried along the outside of buildings or flitted from rooftop to rooftop, phasing through walls or floors to avoid detection.

>cont
>>
>>1467358
There was one moment where they had almost been caught as a Specter passes by a shack perched on top of a textile factory when the door barged open and a teenaged vorh stormed out while shouting back inside. A tin cup came sailing out of the doorway and the vorh dodged it and turned to swear at the assailant even as the cup bounced off the Specters large central eye in a moment of solidity. The youth whirled around at the sound of the undeads squeak of surprise, freezing at the sight of the partially solid creature standing mere feet from them rubbing at their eye with a hand like some insect cleaning itself.

The Specter lowers its hand and meets the stare of the vorh for a long moment but as the teen inhaled to begin screaming the Specter darted forward with blinding speed and stops, bringing it's central eye inches from the vorhs face. The bio-luminescent eye began to strobe and pulse with a chaotic swarm of patterns the vorh's mandibles falling open slack as they were dazed and entranced by the Specters gorgon gaze. The vorh was silent for only a few moments when its parent came storming out and shouted at the teen who was swaying on their feet staring at nothing. The Specter had darted away moments before, leaving the young vorh to shake the cobwebs from their mind and forget what had caused them to freeze in the first place.

Beyond a few close calls the Specters made their way to their targets, one group heading for the train station while the other made their way shadowing the Spinal Tapped soldiers to the prison.

Leagues away the Wayward Disciple watched as their plots unfolded smoothly.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6yWBF_s2TuI

On a distant continent of Calera the forces of the Disciple moved into position to begin their other mission with Reconstructed hiding amid the darkened forest, dawn only a few hours away. They stalked after the Councils soldiers who had bunked down for the night, each group setting up camp around a fire with look-outs taking shifts positioned high up in nearby trees. Most were asleep with only a few awake or standing guard as the undead creeped ever closer to them. The soldiers had been sweeping through the forest in a long wide chain, hoping to flush someone or something out into the open, keeping in contact with each other over portable radios.

It took some time for them to notice something was wrong, the next shifts going to relieve their comrades only to be unable to find them gone from their posts. This caused a minor alarm in several of the camps but it wasn't until they tried to radio the other squads did they realize something was truly wrong, their radios crackling and spitting as stealth Coffins floating overhead jammed their signals.

The attack came without warning, the soldiers starting to break camp when gunfire rang out and they began to fall under the barrage. Shouting filled the air along with the weaponsfire as soldiers dove for cover and began returning fire blindly into the darkness. The muzzleflash lit the forest in a chaotic strobe, the Council soldiers firing wildly in their panic even as more of their number were picked off.

A soldier went falling back when they popped up from behind the log they had taken cover behind, clutching at the barbed slug of bone lodged into their throat as blood gurgled up noisily. Their comrade stooped down, staring at the bone only to let out their own scream of agony as the slug burst out with an eruption of shrapnel and acid. A distant Cyclops nodded in satisfaction before swinging around on the tree they were perched on, their spinecaster lining up another shot before their shoulder jerks back and claws dig into the bark from the recoil.

Flares were fired into the air, motes of shining green flame and smoke racing upwards then trailing down slowly as the camps descended into chaos. Picking up their weapons and wounded they attempted to merge their squads, officers using whistles to let out shrill codes to unify and guide the soldiers. This only made them easy targets for the Reconstructed snipers that were truly causing the damage as Scourges flitted around with pilfered Council army weapons as a distraction.

Soldiers became separated or fell behind as they ran through the dark forests with only the lights attached to their uniforms and guns to illuminate their way. The gunfire began to fade but the screams picked up in intensity as they fell victim to the undead waiting for them in the darkness.

>cont
>>
>>1467507
Shadows leaped out, claws glowing with heat to slash through armor or gouging out throats and eyes as they crippled and slew. The focused on harrying or ambushing the squads, the darkness rippling across their mimetic flesh making them near impossible to see until the flash of fang or claw moments before their lifeblood was spilled. Stalkers dashed in and out of the beams of light, bullets ripping through the underbrush or punching through armored chitin with angry squeals of pain. Stingwhip tongues, powerful with a far reach, lash out to drag soldiers screaming away from their comrades before they were brutally silences.

Scourges took a delight in swooping down in twos or threes, their claws snatching at the soldiers limbs and clothing to lift them up with cackling voices. The victims and their comrades fired wildly into the trees, more often than not hitting their unfortunate squadmates than the undead who carried them into the air before dropping them to either smash against the ground or impaled on fallen branches and logs. The air was thick with their buzzing from their wings where their swarms flew, the soldiers quickly learning to duck for cover at the sound until the Stalkers and Shadows flushed them out.

The line of soldiers had broken, the squads falling to chaos as rapidly picked off officers tried to maintain command even as their soldiers ran off into the forest. Several gunned down their own panicked men who tried to flee and intimidating their remaining troops into obedience. With their radios jammed and officers being targeted there was objectively no cohesion between the squads. In fact the Reconstructed watched as several squads, mistaking the other for the enemy, began to fight and exchange gunfire in their panic.

The forest, once peaceful and silent, had become a warzone, chaos and fear running rampant through the Councils soldiers. There were several squads, united around experienced officers or confident soldiers, that managed to stick together without falling into panic. They either hunkered down, holding defensive positions while they waited for daylight, or set off in tight-knit groups marching through the forest after tying themselves together by their belts to avoid being picked off.

The Disciple applauded those officers and soldiers than managed to keep their troops under control, making a note that they would perhaps make ideal "recruits" for his reprogrammed army.

The floral city on the Yrre-1 planet was growing every day as the planet was terraformed by the Armatocere, oceans filling the lowest points of the world with ice taken from comets and a neighboring frozen planet. Smaller "cities" cropped up around the world, carving mountain ranges or guiding rivers while massive atmosphere production towers belched steam and green-house gases into the air.

From above the corvette that remained in orbit could see the beginnings of a space elevator anchor being grown at the equator. Roots the width of capital ships dove into and rose up from the earth, growing into a twisting trunk that already reached over a kilometer into the air stretching for the orbital platform being grown from several treeships merging together.

On the surface the Harbinger hand spent its days in silent observation of the city from its spot in the glade. It had been a popular sight for the Armatocere locals, many coming to see the strange undead visitor before moving on. None of them had dared approached the Harbinger and in time few if any had visited beyond a brief pause in passing.

You had entered its mind briefly previously and found that several non-sentient vines and creepers had begun crawling up the robes of the motionless Reconstructed so at your urging it had begun occasionally lift itself up from its seat and drift through the city at random before returning to it's spot. It's wanderings were at first observed intently by the Armatocere, a pair of Cacti guards trailing them at first. Again, in time they realized it was merely mindless ambulations and lessened their guard, now only a floral creature the Think Tanks likened to a guard-dog made of color-shifting leaves and flexible yet rigid bark with clusters of eyes followed the Harbinger by hovering freely in the air with rapidly beating wings.

Yet now your mind guided the Harbinger and changed its path, startling its guard as it fluttered through the air erratically to correct its course to follow. You speak through the Harbinger to the following floral creature, requesting an audience with either the Eldertree or a Sapling representative as it made its way toward the towering tree at the heart of the city.

Pleased to find a Sapling waiting for its arrival the Harbinger was ushered inside saying the Eldertree was happy to speak with you. Floating into the Eldertrees chamber the Harbinger gives a bow before it, the pale-barked trees branches curling and flexing slightly.

<Greetings, Lord Jadyk. What brings you to me today?> its voice rattles in the Harbingers skull

What shall you speak about first with the Eldertree?

Talk about Refuge, I guess. Then about trading.
>>
>>1467606
Request help in defending our systems in case Ahkam prove to be too powerful.
Talk about Refuge situation.
Trade enough minerals so that our resources are more or less at the same level.

Also, did we share our latest tech breakthrough against the wraiths? If not, we should
>>
>>1467611
We could also trade something minor like basic hardlight or advanced orbital construction (if they don't have it) for cryogenics. I remember it was an option to get instead of Ion weapons early on.
>>
>>1467614
Sure
Why don't we request a new list of tech we could trade with them.
>>

Explain the situation with the Arc surge and request their possible aid against an expected Arhkam attack.

Just got through the archives. This quest is awesome but hot dam the dice hate this quest. Rip Nekkles.

For our happy tree friends

>Bring up Arc Surge and assistance in defending Refuge

>Talk Research and Biomass/metal sharing and terraforming tecnhnolgy

>Show them the crazy dual dark planet lifeforms with the strange plants as a friendly gesture

>inform them of plant elementals progress

>Share anti-wraith tech but only in exchange for some more profound gesture of alliance.
>>

"I bring grave news. The galaxy is currently under the influence of what we are calling an Arc Surge. This surge has the effect of enhancing the power and capabilities of Arc powered devices or individuals, including the Ahkam serpents. We are fairly certain they shall be launching a campaign against my Armada and the Empire to take advantage of this phenomenon before it fades," you say through the Harbinger.

<Hm we have observed an increase in aggression and mobilization in recent days. We shall send the warning to our other groves and fleets.> The Eldertrees branches quiver slightly, a few dark leaves falling to the floor.

"My Generals and I have agreed that while our Necrotic powers and technology will be a good deterrent against them, I have come today to ask in your aid," the Harbinger says with your voice while pulling their legs up under them to sit floating in the air.

<To help defend your territory should they attack?> the Eldertree questions, predicting your request.

The Harbinger bows its head, "Precisely. We will not ask you to join us in aggressive campaigns against our enemies but we merely come asking for your aid in defending ourselves. Despite our significant progress in these short weeks and months that I have been free, we are still vastly outnumbered by the armies of our enemies."

The Eldertree was silent for some time, likely conversing with other Eldertrees through what you assumed was their psionic connection. Finally its voice booms within the Harbingers skull, <Very well. You have been a valuable ally to us, Lord Jadyk. Coming to our aid against both the UON and the Wraiths while sharing your knowledge with us. We have a debt to your Armada and so we shall help defend your homes. Should the Ahkam, Empire, or any other enemy attempt to strike at your home systems, you shall have the aid of our warships. Of all the factions we have encountered since the Worldtree came to this galaxy, yours has been one of the most agreeable and friendly.>

Your laughter comes from the Harbinger but you stifle it before it could insult the Eldertree, "Forgive me, Eldertree. It is not often we have been called...friendly," you were about to shift the topic when you paused, feeling movement within the Harbingers robes. Reaching in with a slender hand you carefully extract a segmented floral creature with a multitude of legs nearly a foot long that seemed to be nesting inside the robes. It crawls along the hand, unbothered by being picked up and in the light it unfurls vibrant petals along its body to drink in the light.

>>1468596
<Ah, an Idu. They are a popular...pet I suppose would be the term. They feed on parasites, helping keep their owners healthy. Even some of our animal guests we have taken in after their factions abandoned them on our worlds have taken to owning them. Most Idu though are quite picky and will not abide an owner that is harsh, many considering their approval a good omen.> Its mental voice sounding amused that one had decided to nest among the Harbingers clothing.

Letting the idu crawl along the Harbingers arm you watch it for a few moments then look back to the Eldertree, meeting the gaze of the eyes hidden among the whorls and knots of its pale bark, "An interesting creature for sure," you say as it crawls contentedly along the unprotesting Harbinger, "There was one other favor I came to request of the Armatocere Collective."

<Go on.>

"The cause of the Refuge crisis has been discovered and neutralized. A rogue Necromancer tampering with old Armada technology they had little knowledge of. While my Legion and Reconstructed are doing their best to aid the people of Refuge we are unable to meet the demands for food and medicinal aid while the remaining swarms of undead are rounded up and exterminated. I come here today, to appeal to you and the other Eldertrees, to help provide aid to the people of Refuge much the same way you once provided aid to the people of Rukor and helped save them," you say and the Harbinger bows its head even as the idu coils around their arm, directing their petals to the beams of sunlight directed into the chamber through the lenses in the ceiling and wall.

Once more the Eldertree was silent for some time before its voice booms out, <We have been keeping a close watch over the situation in Refuge. While your methods were more...flashy than our own would have been, the results cannot be denied. The Collective will provide no military aid at this time, it is too far from our territory and we do not trust the Confederates or the Imperials being so close.> it says and you almost begin to agree and clarify when it continues, <Nevertheless, the process that you have begun in Refuge must continue if its people are to survive. The Collective will provide food and medicinal relief for Refuge. All life deserves a chance to flourish and those forced to flee to Refuge have had that chance taken away from them. We will assist so that they many one day grow their roots deep and stand strong.>

>cont
>>
>>1468597
"Thank you, Elder. We will make certain that those in Refuge know that the Armatocere are to thank for the aid. Our two factions many never find common ground with the leadership of the Confederates and other factions, but we can let their subjects know that there are others out in the Galaxy willing to look out for them," you say and you can hear an amused emotion of agreement from the Eldertree.

>The Armatocere Collective has agreed to provide defensive aid to Armada held systems should the Ahkam attack
>They have also agreed to provide food and medical relief to the people of Refuge with the stipulation that they will not send military aid

(Time to make your proposals for what kind of trade you'd like to make with them. Not quite ready to resume but we will be shortly)

Well, we need to share Quasiphasic Disruption theories to increase mutual defense against the Wraiths, as well as make the most of our joint research. Was there a reason we weren't? If not, then i feel we should give it to them.
>>
>>1468617
Some anons in previous threads were very skeptical about sharing new technology with them without a proper tech trade and the Quasiphasic Tech came from an independent research thread unrelated to the Anti-Wraith project.

Said "the Armatocere haven't given enough to the Armada for free research to be passed out"

Advanced Orbital Construction and dark planet ecology for Cryogenics and something in the terraforming tech tree. Maybe throw in basic hardlight if it's not enough.
>>
>>1468632
Huh, I see. I guess I get it, but still seems like a waste, if we give it over it makes it so we can develop new tech from the Research agreement, and puts us in their good graces even further.
>>
>>1468632
Ask them if they would teach us ways of terraforming world's or inhabiting has giants in exchange for it.
>>
>>1468719
>Quasi-tech for terraforming worlds
>Also propose open research exchange alliance.

>Inquire about Tree Immortality and their thoughts on consciousness persisting through death. Maybe tree necromancers or floral reconstructed experiments at some point

It would be a nice long term goal of Jadyk to embody the entire cycle of the universe, life and death, plant animal and mineral, all 4 elements. Plantlife already lives in a cycle of life death decay and rebirth. I think there is a lot the Undead and Plants can learn from each other along with the crystal Lavafather.
>>
>>1468601
Suggestions for trade so far seem to be:

While I dont agree with the name(in this Armada we speak using the tongue of the Wormstar, human!)I do think it should be a small, select group. Because of their immortality and because I think they need to do a bit more to earn their Immortality, they should be sent on near suicide missions. Those unworthy of it will be steadily whittled down, with the remainder having earned their unlife.

"If you have the time I have several other matters I would like to discuss with you, Elder," you say and the Eldertree gives a mental sound of acceptance, "As you know the Armada requires vast amounts of biomass for our soldiers, starships, and most of our technology. It has been more difficult for the Armada to harvest the amounts we need to truly expand our strength in the face of increasing Imperial and Dynasty threats while mining for ores and minerals come quite easily to us. We'd like to establish a more permanent trade of resources between us if you would accept."

<Mineral and biomass trades where how we began our acquaintance. We see no issue to this request. Sapling Slrrt on your homeworld will be able to help you negotiate a fair trade.> it says into your mind.

"Then, as before, I would like to propose a trade of technology and research or even expand our Think Tanks and Mindvines progress in their joint experimentation," you say while the Harbinger lets the idu crawl over its form as it searches for mites and other small parasites or creatures that might be nesting in its robes as well. The corvette in orbit transmits the bare details of the orbital docking ring to the Armatocere, "A recent development by the Think Tanks you might be interested in."

The Eldertree was silent for a short time before replying, <Very intriguing. This will be quite helpful, particularly with terraforming and defense. The Mindvines are eager for this data but they feel like they must make an appropriate offer for trade so they must converse with themselves, I apologize.>

"In the interim, I'd like to share knowledge of a new world and ecosystem your people would appreciate," the corvette transmits photos and recordings of Tenebrous to the city below, "We call it Tenebrous. Binary planets they share similar biospheres due to ancient terraforming efforts from an unknown civilization older than the original Necrotic Armada. Life there has evolved to flourish in the darkness, plant and animal difficult to differentiate at times."

The Eldertree replies, <A very unique ecosystem it seems. We would appreciate any data you would deign to share with us or even allow a team of our Mindvine scientists to investigate in person. In fact, we have information concerning a planet you would likely find interesting in the neighboring Naror Sector.>

This time it was the corvette that received a transmission from the planet below. Think Tanks were quick to pay attention as the data unveiled a primal world in a system hidden within a dense nebula, many of the lifeforms reaching megafauna size that would make an osogo feel short, <We call it Nest. We have some scientific and observation outposts there to study and we would be willing to send you the coordinates to allow an ecological survey to be done. All we ask is a similar courtesy of access to this Tenebrous.>

Trade:

Its all good Graves. Maybe we can start with redefining our defensive deals into an all encompassing Defensive Pact.

This quest is amazing and I am happy just to be here. No worries.

Okay so right now we have a good economic trade going and a growing technological one. Military partnership is strong and we have just started some officer exchanges with the elemental plants. What is lacking is the cultural exchange and an official declaration of unity. There are two issues we need to address to cement the relationship.

Culturally we need to set up some exchange. We have an Armatocere embassy on our homeworld. We need to open one on theirs. A place where the Armada can house citizens to grow and share in the day to day life of the Collective as they do on our world. We need to learn things like, how does the Collective view it's dead? Would they be open to Reconstruction? Can Collective, Living, and Undead exist harmoniously? By opening up a large embassy we create the physical location this cultural diffusion can happen. Judging on how well our Harbinger is integrating into their cultural fabric I think Collective-Reconstructed can exist harmoniously. Not sure how animal beings will do.

Militarily we need to be careful. We have set ourselves up for a three/four front war. Empire, Snake, and the two human empires are either in direct or cold conflict. Ignoring Masked intervention we will have a difficult time ahead of us. The collective are, at least they say they are, peaceful and simply here to explore. They will defend themselves but I think they view life as precious and would be against direct conflict and we don't want to do that to them. But they have impressive defensive resources. I think proposing a mutual defense pact would work out the best. We don't have to get them on the front lines, but we for sure want them to be planted on each Armada world.

One of the main issues I see coming out of an alliance, even if it doesn't come up right away, is that they are much more averse to offensive conflict than us. This may become a problem if we decide to invade Akham or Osijic or Confederate territory in the future.

I think a cultural exchange is a good idea and a defensive pact as well, but I think we should probably not tie ourselves to them too heavily militarily long-term.

We already essentially have a defensive pact, so

"The terms are agreeable. My Think Tanks are already eager to visit this Nest," you say, transmitting the coordinates to the Drakon system while simultaneously sending a message to the Lavafather to be aware of future Armatocere visitors.

"Forgive my boldness, Elder, but I must speak to you about something of grave importance," you say and the Eldertree seems to perk up slightly as you feel its eyes upon the Harbingers, "I believe our factions would benefit greatly from a closer friendship, an alliance of mutual defense, trust, and exchange, both cultural and economic. Of all the factions and peoples I have met before and after my imprisonment, the Armatocere are among those I would gladly ally myself with."

<I personally agree our two cultures and factions have much to gain from each other but I can not speak for all of my kind the same way you can, Lord Jadyk. While many of the Parliament of Eldertrees have foreseen and discussed such an arrangement before, it is something that has been debated and must now be decided upon. If you allow it, we would like to have another meeting between Eldertrees and yourself, Lord Jadyk, to discuss this potential alliance.> there was a pause before it continues with an amused inflection to its booming thoughts, <Hopefully this meeting will not be interrupted by Wraith interlopers.>

The Harbinger lets out your chuckle and nods, "I too hope it will be less eventful, but I feel more confident about our chances to defend ourselves this time with the progress we have made together in those regards."

>The Armatocere have sent the coordinates for the Nest system in exchange for a chance to study the Tenebrous planets
>They cannot promise or agree to an alliance or defense pact of such severity on its own and requests a meeting between Jadyk and Eldertree representatives of the Parliament of Eldertrees
>The Mindvines are compiling options for research trade for the Orbital Docking Ring and other potential trades

Excusing yourself the Eldertree bids you farewell and your mind moves onto other matters leaving the Harbinger to drift back to it's glade. The idu creature clung to the moving Reconstructed, it's needle-like limbs anchoring it to the robes harmlessly until the Harbinger came to its resting spot on a bent root. Almost energetically it began scurrying along its forms for a time, hunting and searching for the microorganisms it preyed upon until it calmed down some and draped itself on the Harbingers shoulder, its colorful petals extended as it digested while basking in the sunlight. The undead eventually turned its head to look at the floral creature for a time, a slender finger reaching out to prod at the idu it recoils slightly. It calmed itself though and allowed the Harbinger to gently stroke the delicate petals with a fingertip for a time before letting the hand drop to its lap, clasping them together as it returned to its silent contemplation.

I would like to suggest beginning to construct a fleet and army of enough substance to fight a sustained campaign against multiple worlds. I have had a feeling for a while that our current fleets are stronger than any individual factions' in this sector. Based on this feeling, I would like our current forces to be used to repel the Ahkam during the arc surge while the new fleet would be raised and kept in reserve to be used in either a massive counter-offensive against the depleted Ahkam, or a major offensive against the weakened Osjiic.

Currently we have the resources to, for the sake of an example, create ninety-nine thousand battleships (if the pastebin ship costs are accurate). This is incredible power based on what we have encountered so far. If not now, then some later time, a decision about what direction we will choose to take will be made. I'll take a moment to be selfish and say that I have gotten my enjoyment from this quest as a reader and not as a participant until now and don't want to push this story in a direction that would take away from what I have been enjoying. If such a change in scale should not be taken for the sake of preserving the quality and feel of the setting, game, and story, then that is fine. Otherwise, maybe now is the time to begin planning for such things. Now, regardless of all of that, let's plan on making strong progress with or after this arc surge.

Yes. Let's start building the fist. No reason not to build them on every planet we own, actually.
>>
We need to shore up our defences. Add more soldiers on the ground to hold our planets and to crew the mass of anti-air and anti-space weaponry. Then we need to take the mass of our stockpile and shove it all into warships. Assloads of ships of various sizes all surrounding our holdings. We need to be overly ready for the fight that comes, or we may lose more generals. Once we break their assaults and the surge ends we need to pour out into space and spread like a plague. If we can focus on the snakes which will already be weakened from the fighting it should be easier. My main points are
>buid huge fleets of ships
>support them with greatly boosted static defences
>counterattack.
I would advise a list of ships, but I admit I don't know exactly what all we can make, and I am phoneposting anyway.
Lastly, if we make this assload of ships, we could in theory hide half of them away somewhere, and use our plant friends to absorb some of the blow and keep more of our fleet fresh and ready, though that may be a bit too dickish and hurt our diplomacy.
>>
>>1470554
Maybe we could have the Armatocere go for feint? Pretend that they're fleeing and leaving us to die, but instead their own ships come around to pin the Ahkam between our respective forces.

The other half of our newly crafted ships could be sent out with our generals, Ruscuv and the Lavafather.

I also suggest that we look into building super-massive destroyers with each of the four energies. Call them the Four Pillars.
>>
I can see it now:We ally with the Armatocere, and using our combined energy and life manipulation, terraform the Netu planets, thus bringing them into the alliance. That is far,far down the line because of the probable distance to the planets, but its something we should plan for, including further developing our relationship with the Pirate Clans.
>>
I planned to continue the thread today with the raids against the Ahkam and other stuff but due to...issues I'm probably going to continue with a .2 thread on Saturday

This will let me focus on bringing up the pricing for the final couple of ships in the pastebin because some of the Capital ships are still vastly underpriced. And other things I need to work on like the construction options and maybe get ahead on the research stuff

I had a thought about Crit-Crawlers. We need more of them. It seems all the important forces have massive drone swarms. We need to expand our crawlers with Crystalline absorbing powers. We could have a our dropships just vomit small thumb sized versions, maybe with some Collective tech that can cover the battlefield with a fine coating of energy absorbing tech or even counter-energy emitting properties. Reconstructed could even consume necrotic crawlers for a boost in combat or regeneration. Dirges are cool but we need to bathe the world in our power.
