OPENING CRAWL: http://brorlandi.github.io/StarWarsIntroCreator/#!/AKTjy2VjkQBEpB9AEgU-

You and Admiral Reike along with several staff officers have gathered around the holotable to discuss the current strategic situation around Kuat. “As you can see here…” A Lieutenant points out the systems being taken over by the Yuuzhan Vong. “The Vong are slowly encircling Kuat and forcing barricades and blocks onto the major hyperspace lanes in and out of the system. Local defense fleets are slowing them down, but it’s only a matter of time before they’ve surrounded us.”

“And we can’t retreat?” you ask.

Admiral Reike explains. “Kuat is –the- major shipyard and research facility. KDY is headquartered here along with many other companies who build machines and vehicles for the war effort. Not just that, but from a spiritual point of view this is the home for many of our Starship Girls. We lose Kuat, the Empire could well follow.”

“Yes, Lord Vader and the Emperor are well-aware of Kuat’s strategic value,” says the Lieutenant. “Lord Vader is busy mopping up Vong fleets in the Outer Rim, he will bring Death Squadron to reinforce us within the week. As for the Emperor, he has already promised ships from Coruscant as well. More Starship Girls too will be coming to reinforce our position.”

“So we’re staying to fight?” you ask. “Against a force this size?”

“We have no choice,” says Admiral Reike. “We can chance a defense or we can give up one of the most strategically important planets in the Empire.” All of the Staff Officers look grimly at that. They know the stakes. Even you are grasping what’s at risk here. Like Admiral Reike says, this isn’t just another planet. This is Kuat. When the Rebellion was at its full strength before Scarif they never dared to attack Kuat, but if they did and if they succeeded they would’ve crippled Imperial production for quite a while.

But more important, this was home to a lot of the Starship Girls. Losing this place would probably destroy their morale. Like losing a regimental color, no worse, like having your homeworld razed while you’re on campaign. “We’ll continue normal operations as reinforcements arrive. Expeditions will continue as scheduled,” says Admiral Reike. “You’re all dismissed.” The Staff Officers salute, then start filing out silently.

F4 comes in through the door, beeping to get your attention. “Admirals.”

“What do you want, rustbucket?” you ask.

“Oh, okay. I was just here to give you good news about Finalizer wanting you to put a baby in her,” says F4. He turns around. “But I tell her you refused.”

HE WHAT. “Wait, you little-“ He stops, twirling his dome around. “… you’re pulling my leg.”

“One thing Arc Hammer added during my repairs was a joke function,” he says.

“Really? I wasn’t aware you needed one considering you –are- one,” you spit back.

Admiral Reike tilts his head, confused. “Why are you arguing with a droid?”

“Sorry.” You rub your forehead, sighing. F4, not the best time for these little talks. “Look. F4. What actual news do you have for me?”

“Your new XO has arrived, sir,” he says. Oh. Great.

“Alright, show him around then, and make sure he knows the Lucifuge is his responsibility-“

“She’s a cadet fresh from the academy, sir.”

“Tempting, but I’ll be busy today,” you say. “Show her around the ship, alright? And introduce her to the Starship Girls as you go as well. I know it seems strange I delegate this to a droid and all, but don’t keep on that topic for long.”

“Sometimes I wonder why you even need an XO when you have me, sir,” he says. With that, he goes back out of the room.

Reike folds his arms. “An interesting dynamic you have with your astromech. Is he custom?”

“No, no, he’s built that way,” you mutter. “Anyway, Admiral Reike. Are you sure staying at Kuat is a good idea? We’re outnumbered at least three to one out there. And the Vong certainly have nothing to lose as far as we know from just rushing the place. I’m surprised they haven’t done it now actually.”

He says, “Like I said, I’d rather sacrifice my fleets to save Kuat than run away and hope for a better tomorrow.”

“Right.” You shrug. “You can always replace ships I guess.”

“It’ll be harder to replace the Starship Girls, but everything is replaceable,” he states bluntly. That makes you hesitate for a second. He’s that callous towards the lives of his girls? Well, then again, it’s Kuat. If the Emperor told you to go down with your ship to save it, then… well, not much you can do really. “I’ll be in my office.” With that, he steps past you. “Keep your girls ready.”

“Yes, Admiral.” With that, he’s gone.

Hm. You hadn’t told the girls of this threat yet. Theoretically you’re not supposed to anyway.

Hm.

> You’re back.

You nod, folding your arms. For now, the scientists are continuing their trials under the watchful eyes of the hazard troopers. Lusankya still remains in her bondage, her cell still lit up brightly at least. “I am. I’m sorry, I don’t have word on if we’ll move you to a larger cell.”

> I understand.

“Good. Now tell me something.” She looks up at you with tired eyes, her face in a near permanent frown. “What are the Vong? They’re coming around soon. I can’t tell you everything but I do know they will come and attack us. Do you know anything about that?”

> They intend to rescue me.

Oh? You tilt your head.

> They know I’m alive.

“Well. Here in the Empire, we don’t usually mass such forces for a simple rescue mission.” She remains silent at that. “Can you tell us their plan? Do you know what they plan to do?”

> I only know they intend to rescue me.

You nod, right, right. Fine.

> I am sorry. I am not very useful to you as a prisoner.

“No. It’s fine. Just talking to you is already worth the live we lost capturing you, Lusankya. It means there’s hope for perhaps capturing other Princesses. And perhaps… redemption.” You’re not sure about that to be honest. You’re no scientist. But if swells your fleet’s numbers, then by goodness. It has to happen.

> Why talk to me? I slaughtered thousands of your people. And yet you speak to me as if we are familiar to each other. Why?

“I just want to learn more about you, Lusankya.” You smirk a little. “After all, you’re pretty easy on the eyes.” Lusankya stares at you for a second, then turns her head away. “Just saying. They’re quite nice to look at.” You look up and down her body. Quite nice.

> You flatter me, Admiral.

You smile. “Please. Just the truth. Look, we can learn so much about each other, Lusankya. And who knows, redemption may be around the corner for you. We’ll have to see soon, okay?”

> I understand.

What is this talk of redemption though? Strange how you came up with it. Probably just something to reassure her. You realize that the minute she stops becoming useful to the Empire, she’ll go under the knife. So in a way, perhaps it’s a bit of mercy. Regardless, you want to stay on Lusankya’s good side for now. On the off chance she somehow escapes, you don’t want her coming after you.

Or maybe you do, but in a much more different and much more romantic way.

No, no. On second thought, perhaps it’s safer to stay with the Fleet.

Prosecutor opens the door, looking into the cell. “Admiral.” She steps in. “Everybody’s back from their missions.” Good, good.

“Excellent,” you say. “Have you met the new XO?” She shakes her head. “Neither have I. You should introduce yourself.”

Prosecutor tilts her head. “D-… do you intend to stay another day with the Princess, Admiral?”

“No, no. I’ll come with you.” You look back to Lusankya. “Lusankya. I have to go manage my girls. We can talk another time.”

Lusankya nods, letting her head hang down in rest.

> Until next time, Admiral.

You and Prosecutor step out of the cell. Prosecutor sternly looks to you, holding your arm with one hand. “I worry for you, Admiral. I don’t think its healthy for you to spend so much time around Lusankya.” Oh? Is she jealous? You’re certainly open to a wider relationship, there’s no doubt about that. “Who knows what she’s capable of –in captivity-. She’s a caged animal.”

“I thought you and Lusankya had an understanding, Prosecutor,” you say to her.

“W-… We do.” Prosecutor sighs, looking down at the floor. “In a way, she reminds me of myself. But my priority is your safety, Admiral.”

“Look.” You and Prosecutor stop at the elevator. You look down at her, then place your hands on her shoulders. “Prosecutor. I’m safe behind you girls, alright? And in that cell, I’m perfectly safe too. Because I know if anything comes to blows, you’ll all be there in a flash.” Prosecutor’s eyes widen at that, then she relents. She nods, looking down again. “I trust you. So trust me on this, alright?”

Prosecutor nods. “If you say so, Admiral.”

“Good. Well then, let’s meet our new XO. Have you met them?” you ask.

“No,” she says. “But from what I hear, apparently she’s a bit of a war hero.” Wait. She? F4 was actually telling the truth!? The two of you step into the elevator. “Let’s go find her.”

She better be hot.

-

-

She drops her suitcase, then gives you a sharp salute. She was only an inch or two shorter than you. Her navy uniform flattered her appearance quite a bit as well, such curves around her hips and bust. And that curly dark hair as well, and those deep blue eyes. “Commander Tereza Kohlenkau, reporting as ordered!” Oh, very formal, very- is that mechanical hand!?

Prosecutor hides behind your back, staring frightfully at the arm. You nod. “At ease.” She stands at ease, looking to you. Unlike Fiennes, there’s no hint of friendliness or goodness on the outside of her just yet. Plus what was more concerning was the obvious artificial left hand, a red hand to be precise. “Commander Kohlenkau, it’s nice to meet you. I am your commanding officer. This is my secretary, Prosecutor. We’ll be glad to have you aboard.”

“Thank you, sir,” she states firmly. Prosecutor continues staring at the hand. “I have already made myself familiar with your bridge crew. And I need no introduction to your Starship Girls as well, I have studied their statistics and am fully prepared to advise you on how best to use them during combat.”

“That won’t be necessary,” you say. Kohlenkau blinks, then nods slowly.

“Sir. My apologies.”

“Do your job well, Commander. And we won’t have issues.” The Commander nods, still standing stiffly at ease. “I like to think I run a pretty good ship around here. Try not to ruin that.”

“Yes, sir. I’ll do my best,” she declares. She looks over at Prosecutor. “Prosecutor, I will be delighted to work with you in the future.” Prosecutor steps back behind you, still apparently afraid of the hand. “It’s the hand, isn’t it? Lots of children are scared of it. Not that you’re a child- just-… I can understand you’re scared of it.”

Prosecutor frowns a little. “How’d you get the hand?” she asks.

“Very long story,” says Commander Kohlenkau. “I’m sure I can discuss it another time.”

“Yes. You’re dismissed, Commander,” you state. “Right now, I’d like for you to make the Lucifuge your priority. I handle the girls, you handle the ship. Understood?” She salutes, nodding. “Good. Now get.” She turns around, marching off.

Agility slides, arms folded. “Wow. And I thought the seppies were stiff.” Wh- where’d she come from?

Prosecutor says, “That hand scares me.” You look down at Kohlenkau’s rear as she walks away. “But she does seem nice. Admiral, what do you make of it?” What a nice butt. “Admiral?”

“Huh, what?” You blink, looking at Prosecutor. “Oh, yes. She’s fine. Uh, Agility. What did you get on your latest expedition?” Agility grins, taking your hand and leading you off to the next hangar over.

“So a whole smattering of resources and five instant repair buckets,” you say. “That’s it?”

Agility paces around you, her arms folded. Black Hawk, Sundered Heart, and Tellstar all stand around it, somewhat disappointed with herself. Black Hawk says, “We’ve been running into more Vong patrols in our expeditions, which means we can’t venture too far out with our resource gathering. Our only protection today happened to be Commerce.”

Force of Commerce slouches back against a crate, chewing on some gum. She yells out, “That’s Force of Commerce ya little runts!” She shoves her hands in her pockets, glaring angrily out into space.

“Even then,” says Sundered Heart. “I am only one ship. I can’t protect all of them! So we decided not to risk today’s expedition against the Vong.”

“It feels as if the Vong are encroaching on us,” says Tellstar. “Plus, I keep seeing more and more officers whisper and discuss things behind our back. Is there something wrong? Is there going to be a Vong invasion soon, Admiral?”

“Ha!” Agility huffs, folding her arms. “As if! And even if there were, reinforcements would surely come in the form of the unlimited Tartan cruisers!” Oh thank goodness, Agility. Saved you a bit of trouble explaining this. Tellstar seems to accept that for now, but crosses her arms, skeptical. The other corvettes however look bored with themselves. “Welp. I’m bored. Admiral, play with us!” Agility hugs your leg.

“Yeah, Admiral!” Black Hawk hops onto your back. Oh noooo- “Come on!”

Sundered Heart climbs up over on Black Hawk, trying to get on your back instead. “Away with you, only the noblest of corvettes gets to ride on the Admiral’s back!”

Aaauugh your back hurts but if you refuse the corvettes they’ll never forgive you. “Fine, fine. But be careful girls, I’m fragile.” They all laugh as Tellstar grabs onto your waist as well. “Come on! Come now!” You try to walk away, to the unending bemusement of Prosecutor. Please, secretary! This is your job to handle the kids! The corvettes laugh and hang off of your body as you walk. You’ll never love kids, you’ll never understand them. They better grow up fast like clone troopers do.

“Wait, wait, Admiral!” Black Hawk shoves Sundered Heart to the side, letting her hang away off of your shoulder. “I got an idea!” She covers your eyes with her hands. “Come on, let’s pilot the Admiral around!”

This is how you die.

“Go left, left, left!” they all shout. You stumble around, the corvettes all shout contradictory information at you. The only thing helping you out is them. “Right, Admiral! No, no, your other right!”

“I only have one right!” you say back.

“Forward by ten meters!” says Black Hawk. “Now reverse back, right hand down, then forward again!”

“Faster, faster!” shouts Agility.

“You’re all being so rude, the Admiral can’t decipher your directions!” says Sundered Heart. Thank you! “Now, Admiral! Go forwards by ten meters, then turn right by 30 degrees and-“ AAAAAHHHHH YOU CAN’T STOP!

“Watch out!” they all yell. Black Hawk pulls her hands away. All the corvettes scream as you close in on Commerce. “COMMERCE!” Commerce looks away from space then sees you closing in. Oh. Lovely.

All of you collide into a big pile. Prosecutor giggles lightly as she comes over. “A-… Admiral, are you okay!?” Concern and amusement are two very different emotions to feel, you can understand. All the corvettes groan, sitting up and pulling themselves off of you. But it’s okay though! You managed to land on something soft. It’s-…

You look down. Commerce looks down as well. Your hands are grabbing her boobs. She goes red in the face instantly and for a second you thought you saw smoke pouring from her ears. She slaps your hands away, holding herself. She stammers, looking at you with wide eyes. “A- Admiral! You- you-“

“Don’t tell VP,” you state bluntly. She’ll probably get jealous, extremely jealous! At least, that’s what you hope anyway. One thing leads to another when you’ll be trying to convince VP that it was all an accident perhaps? Could happen anyway. Still, Commerce’s chest is a bit bigger than you remember. That remodeling must have done wonders. Commerce slowly scoots away, then stands up. “Look, it was just an accident.”

Commerce squints at you. “You’re lucky you’re the Admiral or I’d have pounded ya for that, bucko!” She huffs, still holding her arm over her chest before storming away.

Agility blinks, tilting her head. “I don’t get it. All you did was grab her chest. Is that wrong or something?” Black Hawk whispers into Agility’s ear. Sundered Heart listens in as well. They all immediately turn red. “Ooooohhhhhh!” They start giggling intensely, hurrying away from you.

Prosecutor steps over, smirking. “Well. That went well, Admiral.”

“Oh, quiet you.” You fold your arms, sighing. “I just hope she doesn’t tell VP about that. I don’t want any real drama in the fleet.” Especially because drama means none of the girls will like you in the end. Part of your goal here in the fleet is to make the girls understand that you can be shared and so can they, but only with you. After all, you’re the Admiral. And they’re your ships.

“Of course, sir,” says Prosecutor. “I have to admit though, it is quite entertaining seeing separatist ships get flustered like that.” You smile back. True, it’s cute, in its own way you suppose.

But then Tellstar tugs on your sleeve. “Admiral.” Oh, is this going to be the talk? “I don’t think you answered my question.”

“Oh?” You turn to her. Tellstar tugs on the loose sleeve of her jedi robes, looking at you skeptically. “What is it?”

“Do you know what the Vong are doing? They seem to be coming closer and closer to Kuat. Is something wrong?” she asks.

“I haven’t got anything concrete from command just yet. Still, maybe it’s good timing to straighten up a bit in case something does happen.” Prosecutor as well looks at you curiously. “Good on you for being alert though, Tellstar. Now go run along, the other corvettes are going to come looking for you.” Tellstar is quiet for a few seconds, then she nods. She hurries off to join the others.

Prosecutor says, “What’s going on?”

“Nothing that concerns you for now,” you say back. It is rude to keep them in the dark about the massive Vong force coming to Kuat, but at the same time you can’t just outright say “there’s loads of vong coming in that we have no hope of defeating in open ground”. That would destroy their morale and probably even their faith in you. For now, it’s best to keep them working as normal you suppose. Prosecutor glances away, then nods. She accepts this as truth too. Excellent.

“Well, Admiral. I’ll work with Arc Hammer. We’ll catalog the resources together,” she states. “Oh, um, I was also supposed to tell you as well. Finalizer requests to talk to you as soon as you’re available. As does Acheron.”

“Do you know what about?” you ask.

You knock on Finalizer’s door. “Finalizer. It’s the Admiral.”

“Enter, if you dare!” she yells out. You blink, then shrug. You open up the door and find her meditating on the floor. She covers her eyes with her arms, yelping. “Ah! Shut the door! The light cannot be allowed to touch the darkness!” she shouts out. You step in and shut the door, sealing the two of you in darkness. Finalizer takes a deep breath, relaxing again. “Lord Admiral. Good to see you.”

“Did you need to talk to me about something?” you ask.

“Yes, I do,” she says. She quickly grabs a pillow from her bed then tosses it on the floor across from her. “Sit.” You sit down on it, looking across at her. She looks incredibly stern, determined, what is she thinking about? Probably more fantasies about dark side things or what not. It’s a shame that such a nice body is attached to such a childish mind. “Lord Admiral…” She holds out her hand to your face, almost touching it. Uh. “… I sense great anxiety in you.”

“You what?” She what? “What are you talking about?”

Finalizer keeps holding her hand out at you. “You harbor deep feelings!” I-… Is she trying to read your mind? “Of hate, dishonesty, and passion!”

“Finalizer, what is this about?” you ask.

Finalizer frowns, then brings her hand back. “I only wish to know if you are alright, Admiral.” Oh? “I know the loss of Commander Fiennes was quite devastating.” Who? “He was a very kind man, a shame he had such ties to the light side of the Force. But a good man nonetheless.”

“I’m fine, honest,” you say.

“Are you sure?” Finalizer leans in. “Just- you have been spending some time lately with the Princess and I know the arrival of your new XO may be a bit of a shock as well. I just want to be sure you are alright! I will do anything to make you feel better, Lord Admiral! Anything!”

… anything?

“No, no. I’m fine. Thank you for your concern. I’m worried simply about some things, I can’t talk about them right now though. But really, thank you, Finalizer.” You smile at her. “It’s good to talk to you about this.”

Finalizer grins. “As fellow darksiders, we must look out for each other!” And with that, you wrap your arms around her and hug her. “Oh! Lord Admiral!” Of course, you’re hugging her for a couple of reasons. One, you do genuinely love her concern for you. And two, by goodness she is a very attractive girl. Probably the closest you’ll get for now. You can’t quite rush it with the ships just yet. No, needs more time to it. You need to get to know them better.

You let go of her, and you find her twiddling her fingers, looking down. A deep blush runs through her cheeks. “Thank you again, Finalizer. You’re a really good girl, you know that?”

She pouts. “I’m not a good girl. Good girls are weak. They let the Light Side of the Force walk all over them. I am chaos! Darkness! Passion and fury!” She thumps her chest. “Do not mistake me for some common vagrant with dreams of grandeur, for I-“ She looks at you, and finds you simply smirking. “Stop looking at me like that! I am!”

“Right, right. Well.” You stand up, smiling down on her. “Finalizer, it was good talking to you. We should do this again some time. I should go for now.” You turn around.

“Wait!” She grabs your hand. You turn back. Eh? She stares at you, apparently unsure of what to say. “… erm. Be careful, Lord Admiral Stay safe for me… I mean us. You cannot lead the Fleet if you go looking for trouble after all.”

“Right, right. Until next time.” She lets go of you, then returns to her meditation. You open the door and step out of her room.

What a good girl.

F4 finds you walking along the halls. “Admiral.”

“F4,” you say back. He rolls alongside you. “What news?”

“Death Squadron is due to arrive by tomorrow morning,” he says. “The Vong appear to be holding position.” Interesting. Instead of defeating us piecemeal, they wish for our position to be reinforced by Lord Vader and his fleet of elite ships. “You think they’re waiting for us to come together in one convenient place where we can be defeated?”

“Possibly,” you say back. “But you’re the strategist, not me.”

“Excuse me?” F4 whirs loudly. “You’re relying on a droid and a bridge techie to formulate your strategies?”

“No. I take suggestions from all my subordinates and formulate strategy based on that, rustbucket,” you state. “Get it right.” F4 spins his dome around, a roll of the eyes if anything. “Now listen. We can’t discuss it out here. Otherwise-“

“Otherwise what?” Around the corner is Acheron, arms folded, casual smile on her face. F4 beeps, bouncing in surprise. Oh bugger.

“Otherwise… something,” you state. Acheron tilts her head. “Sorry, I’ve been meaning to get to you, Acheron. I know you wanted to talk to me as all.”

“It’s fine, Admiral,” she says. She quirks her brow. “I must say, it’s curious seeing you discuss things with your droid as if he were another human being.” You roll your eyes. This thing is the farthest thing from an actual person than a Wookiee is from being civilized.

“What did you want to talk to me about?” you ask.

“The Vong,” she says. “I assume they’re gathering their forces around Kuat in order to strike a massive blow and possibly rescue the Princess we have locked up. And you’re apparently not telling us because it would –rightfully- destroy our morale.” You and F4 stare at her. You look around. Hallway is empty, thank goodness. Most of the rooms are soundproofed too.

“H-… how did you guess that?” you ask.

“It’s basic strategy,” she says. “I’m a very slow ship, Admiral. It pays to be well-prepared. I studied the star charts, asked around with some of the officers. Made the assumption from there. I’m correct, aren’t I?” You blink. “Judging by your silence, I am.”

You smile a little. “You’re quite perceptive, Acheron, I’m impressed.” She smirks, a little smugly, but justifiably so. “But someone who’s this perceptive is usually after something. What do you want?”

She shakes her head. “Nothing at all, Admiral.” Oh? You quirk your brow. Interesting. “I only wished to make you aware that I knew of this. I’m not stupid after all.”

“So you’re genuinely not after something?” you ask. “Not even a remodel or some new equipment?” Usually people with this kind of information would blackmail you. Generally you solved those kinds of issues with even bigger dirt on them, or failing that either money for them or assassins. Acheron however… She simply smirks. “Go on, do tell. What is it that you want?”

She places her hands on her hips. “I want a promise.”

“A promise?”

“I like the way things are ran here,” says Acheron. “I like that you seem to know what you are doing. That the corvettes do what they like and the cruisers as well as do the Star Destroyers. And as for me, I quite like being in the back. In the rear with the gear.” Oh. Acheron is one of those people. “I’m no coward, Admiral. I’m just designed that way. I want your promise that you won’t use me like you’ll use the other ships.”

You cock your head. “… in what way?”

She leans forward, her smirk getting bigger. “What way were you thinking?” She holds out her hand. “Promise?”

“I can promise you won’t be used. But respected like the rest,” you say simply. Acheron smiles, then shakes your hand. Seems she’s satisfied with that answer. “Rest assured, Acheron. I won’t tolerate sloth in my Fleet.”

“Do not worry, Admiral.” Acheron pulls her hand away, then steps past you. “I know exactly what I’m doing.” She winks at you, then turns away. With that, she walks off down the hall, arms clasped behind her hands formally. You and F4 stare at her as she goes off. Did you just get blackmailed by a Starship?

Ugh. Weirder things have happened. You won’t say anything about this though. On the one hand, it’s a harmless deal relatively. You don’t use Acheron all that much, she doesn’t tell the girls about the incoming Vong fleet. If anything, it’s more beneficial to you. Girls are going to notice Acheron not doing much. But as for you? They won’t question you. Hopefully. Plus, it was really perceptive of her. Even Prosecutor or Resolute don’t seem to have picked up on the situation.

And besides, she was totally flirting with you.

F4 says, “You’re just going to let her walk away, Admiral?”

“What am I supposed to do, grab her and hope she doesn’t split me in half?” you ask. You’d rather be the one splitting her in half. “Please. I’ll entertain her for now.”

“Fine.”

You start setting the plates for the dinner table as Prosecutor and Redemption work in the kitchen. It’s a menial task but to be frank you don’t quite feel like cooking today. And besides, gives you time alone to think on it. Think on Acheron’s deal, you can’t throw her into fights needlessly. You wouldn’t, but now you risk angering her and her spilling the secret out if you did. Plus she seems open to flirting with you.

No, no, the bigger concern now was the Vong. As they gather forces, Kuat still remains right where it is. It’s not like you can just pack up the entire Kuat production line. Nor can you possibly hope to fight a fleet of that size with even Death Squadron on your side. Thank your lucky stars they don’t seem to be bringing in Worldships either. That would seal your fate.

You sigh. Tough times ahead it seems.

“Admiral.” You look over to see Commander Kohlenkau walking along with F4. “I was told you would be here. What are you doing setting plates?”

“It’s only fair,” you say. “Prosecutor and Redemption are cooking dinner for us.”

“You allow the Starships to cook your food?” she asks, confused incredibly.

“Yeah, their own as well,” you say. “They’re very good cooks. You’re free to have dinner with us, Commander.”

She shakes her head. “No. I only wish to express that it will be an honor working with you, Admiral. I will not interrupt your social time with your Starship Girls.” Personally, you’d allow her to do so considering her very curvy appearance. But… “I will take my leave for now.” She turns around and almost bumps right into the corvettes. They stare at her artificial hand. “Oh. Excuse me.”

“She has a metal hand!” yells Agility. All the corvettes gasp, stepping back in shock at the sight of it. “Is she a droid!?” Commander Kohlenkau stares straight past them, not looking particularly amused.

> “Perhaps the Commander would like to discuss it over dinner?”

“That’s rude of you, Agility. Apologize.”

Agility mopes a little, folding her arms. “We’re sorry.” The other corvettes nervously stand behind Tellstar as they look at Commander Kohlenkau. “It’s still weird seeing a hand like that on a person though.”

“Feels weird too,” says Commander Kohlenkau. “Sometimes.”

You step up next to the Commander. “Perhaps you’d like to tell us all about it over dinner then? It’ll be a nice chance to get to know my girls.” Commander Kohlenkau stares at you in confusion for a few seconds, then nods. “Good. It’s settled. Let’s find her a seat.”

-

-

All the girls stare at Commander Kohlenkau’s artificial hand as she eats. VP and Force of Commerce however sit on either side of her. VP says, “Your hand is nothing to be ashamed of, Commander.”

“That’s right!” Commerce huffs. “Just because it’s not your original one does not make any less a hand!”

“Right.” Commander Kohlenkau nods slowly, looking down at VP’s chest for a second, before refocusing her attention on VP’s eyes. “So. You all want to know how I got the hand then.” Everybody nods. “A Vong ship boarded my freighter. I lost the hand beating back the attackers.”

“You beat back the attackers by yourself?” asks Finalizer.

“They slaughtered my Stormtrooper squad so yes,” she says. All the girls stare in awe of Commander Kohlenkau. “Because of my bravery, the Empire saw fit to fasttrack me through the Naval Academy. And now I’m here as your new XO.” She munches quietly on her food.

“Wow!” Force of Commerce smiles. “You really defeated a horde of Vong boarders yourself?” Commander Kohlenkau nods at that, continuing to eat. “Even without a hand too? Nuts and bolts, you must have-” She turns her head, looking at Commerce with a very fierce glare. Commerce backs down. “Aha… I’ll shut up.” With that, Commander Kohlenkau goes back to eating.

“Everyone having a good time?” you ask.

Profundity pumps her fist. “Ever since I was born, I have found it enjoyable to spar with the other ships! They give me useful information on how I best can defeat them and our enemies!”

Resolute leans over to you, looking to you with an air of contempt in her expression. “She still insists on charging.”

“Only because it’s the best solution!” Profundity chugs a glass of water, slamming it on the table.

“My, my.” Redemption giggles a little, looking to Profundity. “Perhaps a little more time in the simulations and we’ll have you squared away, Profundity.” Profundity grunts, folding her arms while picking at her food. “I will say however, you are very eager. That’s a bonus.”

“Of course, a rebellious spirit is built on eagerness!” Profundity declares.

“Right!” says Sundered Heart. “However, a noblewoman like myself doesn’t need to show such brute force. I have Profundity to do that for me.” Profundity glares at the little corvette, to which Sundered Heart says, “What? I do!”

Resolute says, “Admiral. Perhaps-“ F4 taps your chair.

> “Excuse me, girls. I have to take this.”

You stand up. “Excuse me, girls. I have to take this.” You and F4 move out of the mess and towards the hallway where hopefully you can discuss this in some manner of privacy. You move through the hallway, and up some distance before finding an empty office. You shut the door and take the message. Your father appears on hologram out of F4’s dome. He does not look happy. “Father.”

“Son,” he says back. “I hear you’re participating in the defense of Kuat now.”

“I am. Our ships are ready to receive attacks from the Vong at any time. We’ll drive them back,” you state firmly and clearly. Better keep this business as usual. No need to get into family drama after all.

He frowns. With a second’s hesitation, he says, “I also heard about Commander Fiennes, my condolences.” Who? “I hope his children are doing fine. I understand you’re supposed to be their godfather.”

You stare at F4, then look back at your Father. “… right. Well. They’re doing fine, Father. Did you call just to check in on me?” you ask.

“Hardly. I just can’t believe you were entrusted with such an important position in our defense,” says Father. “Kuat is the production heart of the Empire. I hope you understand what it means to be posted there.” As if. Other than Admiral Reike, you hardly know anybody here, it’s boring, you’re not taking the fight to the Vong, all that stuff. Hardly a prestigious post as he claims. “Son, I’ll be coming to Kuat’s defense with Death Squadron tomorrow morning.”

Oh.

Oh blast.

“I expect you to be on your best behavior,” he says. “Especially around Lord Vader. Don’t embarrass me.”

“I don’t need to with all that you do,” you mutter.

“What was that?”

“Nothing.”

He glares a little at you. “Show some respect, boy. I’ve been at this far longer than you have.”

You nod. “Fine. I’ll see you soon, father.”

“Try not to party around too much, son,” he grunts. “Can’t look bad in front of Lord Vader. Until next time.” He cuts the transmission then, leaving you and F4 alone for now. You fold your arms. Your father is going to seriously embarrass you, and not in the loving doting parent kind of way. As if you need more stress. You’re actually kind of hoping that Death Squadron gets intercepted. That way, you’d be able to escape relatively unharmed by retreating with your girls, claiming the situation is hopeless. Which it is.

F4 looks to you, resting his hull back into an idle position. “Sir?”

“What?” you ask him.

“I know you and your father don’t have the best relationship.” Gee, really? “But this is a time of war. Perhaps it’s time to put that behind you two.” You roll your eyes, glaring at F4. You will not be lectured on family relationships by a dime-a-dozen droid. “That’s just my opinion anyway, sir.”

“Of course. If I need someone else’s opinion, I’ll ask.”

F4 rolls up to the door, then opens it up, revealing Prosecutor listening on the conversation. She falls over onto her face from the door suddenly being pulled away. Then she immediately gets up and salutes. “Sir!”

“Why don’t you ask Prosecutor then?” asks F4.

You sigh. You look at Prosecutor. She too does look worried, at least she appears visually worried. F4’s a droid, he can only seem worried based on auditory context and body language. “Well.” Prosecutor blinks, twiddling her fingers. “I don’t have a father, sir. But maybe you should appreciate the one you have?”

“If either of you have ever met my father. You would not be saying that.” You step past them, huffing. “It’s late. I should retire for the night. Now good night, Prosecutor.” F4 and Prosecutor watch you leave for your room. Nuts to it. You can’t deal with anything else today. Your own father is coming to bail you out of a situation. Ha.

As if you need his help.
