Dungeon Civ takes place inside a stereotypical RPG Dungeon.

You are a race of Slimes living on the 55th floor of the Dungeon. Floor 55 is a Ruined City which grants defensive bonuses. The most recent Dungeon God has granted all the creatures on your Floor sentience and the ability to grow beyond their initial parameters. You were a mid level boss named Kulnarth (the all consuming) a Royal Slime.

In the Third thread you made Woolsworth a Boss of his own territory, and allowed the Strong Root Guild to build a Hospital base in your Black Market zone. Tethys also captured a Demon Lieutenant for you who received a surprising beat down from Demon Slime.

>Stats
Breeding determines how quickly your race spawns and respawns, and the Floor unit cap for your race.

Melee determines how well you fight with Melee weapons, and the maximum level of Melee weapons your race can equip. Also determines your base defense against Melee attacks.

Ranged works like Melee, but for Ranged weapons. Ranged weapons do less damage than Melee weapons on average. Also determines defense against Ranged attacks.

Magic determines what type of Magic you can equip. Equipping a type of magic will often change your type conferring bonuses and weaknesses. Also determines the strength of your magic and defense against magic.
(Some magic will require a Melee or Ranged roll)

Technology is useful for building and detecting traps, and determines the best equipment your race naturally produces. Also effects accessory limits.

Diplomacy affects party size, trade, and your diplomatic interaction with other races. Also determines whether or not you can accept a certain race into your Hero's Party.

Many of these can be improved or modified.

>Heroes

A hero is a unit well above the average for its race. Some Dungeon Races generate Heroes naturally, others have to work towards them. Heroes are allowed to equip special equipment and act independently of their racial holdings.

Sometimes a group of Heroes will descend into the Dungeon from the Outside. These are almost always powerful beings hoping to challenge the Dungeon God. It is not unheard of for such Heroes to annihilate entire Floors.

>Floor

The Floor is your world, but that doesn't mean you know all its secrets. Becoming the dominant Race on a floor can allow you to increase its Level.
Floor 55 has recently become a level 2 Floor.

>Stronghold

The Stronghold is the center of your Race's power. Heroes will rest here when not on assignment or questing. And the items of fallen Adventurers and Heroes will be stored here. If your Stronghold is destroyed all of your basic racial units on that floor will die immediately leaving only your Hero units. Your Stronghold is the Ruined Baths zone next to the Floor starting area.

>Dice

All rolls are 1d20 best of three. Your roll will be modified by magic, equipment, accessories, racial bonuses, and other modifiers as deemed necessary.

The turn begins bright and early. Things are definitely looking up! If the last battle is any indication, then most of Eviscorax' Demons are dead, and he will probably have a harder time replenishing his forces than you have had yours. The Ruined Baths are nearly full with fresh spawned Slimes, and the Upper Sewers are also full of Oozes. It's time to invade. For dominion, for victory, for glory and vengeance and-

Kulnarth's megalomaniacal rant is cut short by a polite cough. Lowering his arms and stepping down from the seat of his throne he observes Alchemist standing in the doorway.

"Sorry to interrupt whatever that was, but I have your order ready."

She holds up a brown paper package tied with string.

"I have three Holy Water at a discounted price of 75 Gp each, plus a special Opening Week Bonus of three Potions."

Wait, doesn't the Dungeon prevent her from giving things away?

"Well yeah, but nothing says I can't offer special deals! E-especially since no ones buying anything yet! Look just don't make a big deal about it alright?"

Well if she says so.

"Besides I'd think you were more concerned with the screaming."

Screaming?

"You... have been inside here for a while huh?"

Not really no.

"Ah well come on then."

Kulnarth follows Alchemist out of the throne room and into the main area of the Ruined Baths. For several steps everything seems completely normal. As Kulnarth passes the main Spawning Pools however there is a blood curdling scream that cuts through the air. The Slimes stop and look up for their work, but don't seem to mind much otherwise. Thief Slime seems to be on edge from it and is being extra sneaky.

Following the screams to their source reveals a strange scene. In the furthest portion of the Ruined Aqueduct the Demon Lieutenant is bent over and locked into a pillory! Demon Slime is standing behind her with her arm raised. She seems to have turned the arm into a large drill shape studded with crimson claws or teeth!

Kulnarth stares dumbfounded as Demon Slime lowers her drill arm and stares at him and Alchemist.

Alchemist for her part flips open her leather bound monster journal and consults it. She seems to have turned bright red. Not that anyone can tell anymore with her face hidden by that book.

"Ah, here it is! Demon Slime, recipe is one Slime core, one Demon Heart, two or more Human Souls. Proficient with Fire and Dark magic, excellent in Melee combat, super lewd- er... loud heh. Super Loud."

Loud? But you've never heard Demon Slime say anything ever. Aside from implications and glances you thought she didn't communicate at all.

"Oh uh that means- that... uh... their VICTIMS are super loud! Just heh, the loudest."

Oh that makes sense. But why is Demon Slime hurting your captive?

"That's just a Demon thing. It's sort of how they decide whose in charge. I'd uh say your Demon Slime is really dominant."

So the enemy demon will do anything you want?

Demon Slime nods her head in a self satisfied fashion before prodding the Demon Lieutenant with a spike arm.

"Ahhh! Y-yes Lord Kulnarth. I am yours to command, by Her will. P-please allow me to serve."

Her voice seems really shaken. No telling how long she will be conscious for.

Deciding to give the beleaguered Lieutenant a break you drag a silent, but evidently disappointed Demon Slime into Ash's room

You should teach her the Fire stuff.

"Kulnarth, you can't just barge in like that this is-"

Fire stuff. It might be useful for the big fight.

"Oh, uh alright... just, give me a second to put some clothes on."

She's wearing that soft white robe thing. Did she switch jobs to Healer?

"Ah, er, no. This is a bathrobe. I took a bath."

So it's not a new Job?

"I don't think so."

Well that's a shame. Thanks for training Demon Slime, bye.

>Demon Slime Learns Fire 2
>Ash learns to be wary of Demon Slimes.

Kulnarth leaves Ash alone with Demon Slime. Shutting the door behind him Kulnarth begins searching for Woolsworth. Why isn't he building something?

Oh, right. After a sufficient amount of ordering Slime 212 returns from the Machine Outpost with Woolsworth.

"You called sir?"

Yes Woolsworth, I want you to build that tower thing with the tech stuff.

"That would be the Communications Tower correct sir?"

Yeah, that one.

"Very well sir, I will begin at once. If I may borrow some of your Slimes?"

Huh, yeah sure.

Several hours later the gleaming spire of chrome towers in an out of place fashion above the Ruined Baths. A trio of bright blue crystals orbit the very tip of the tower and faint wavers of blue energy can be seen radiating in arcane patterns. Woolsworth seems pleased by his efforts and spouts a lot of nonsense about resonant stuff and hyper things.

All it means to you is that your ready to invade.

The Demon Lieutenant hangs limply in the pillory her now one horned head dangling from her exhausted neck. With a careful pseudopod Kulnarth lifts her face to speak with her.

"Hahn! No- no more. I surrender!"

I'm just trying to ask you a few things.

The Lieutenants eyes flutter open and she gasps when she sees that she's being observed by non-Demons.

"Get your hand off of me you stinking Slime!"

She begins writhing in her restraints in an attempt to escape your grasp.

Look I just need to know if there are other Heroes working for Eviscorax?

"I won't tell you anything you fat bloated sack of- AHHH!"

Sack of Ahhh? Is that an item?

Kulnarth looks towards the Alchemist who feigns ignorance with a shrug.

"Alright, alright, I'll tell you!"

She will? Okay then.

"That snotty little Frederick brat showed up with some friends of his. He kept bragging about how strong they were, how no one should disrespect his 'Guild'."

How many, what jobs, did you see their levels?

"No. Sorry. There were three of them. A man and two women. They were wearing some kind of stealth cloaks that masked their presence. But, they can't have been too impressive, or the smug little stain would have come straight here to kill you and your pet rat."

Hmm. Does Eviscorax have any weaknesses you can exploit?

"Same as any Demon I suppose. Holy water and weapons, that one rare Holy spell, there's a few weapons here and there that deal extra damage to Demons. But whatever you do, you should probably hurry."

Oh, why is that?

"Lord Eviscorax has built a portal to a subDungeon level filled with Humans. Every turn he descends into the mini-Dungeon and harvests Souls. You think him defenseless because you've slaughtered his Imps and taken a Wall. The Royal Palace is chock full of high soul Demons waiting to sweep your pathetic Slimes away."

That isn't very good news at all!

Maybe she would be willing to help in return for her freedom?

The Lieutenant spits a steaming glob of blood near your feet.

"I will NEVER serve under anyone who isn't a Demon you pathetic excuse for aAAAARRGGGHHH!"

Your fairly certain you saw Demon Slime move that time... and she seems to have a faint smile?

"Ah- What I meant to say, was that I will only ever serve my honored mistress!"

Oh well she works for you so...

"I will obey my mistress, but you have no right to order me around!"

Her eyes are struggling to remain open. It looks like she's reached her limit with that emotional outburst.

Leaving her for a bit you praise Demon Slimes initiative.

She seems unimpressed until you pull a Soul out of Inventory. Then her entire attention is focused on your hand.

But, she can't do things like that by herself, she needs to at least let you know first!

Demon Slime nods enthusiastically.
your fairly sure she would agree to tear herself apart for the Soul in your hand.

Sighing you toss the soul to Demon Slime who devours it first with her mouth, and then with her Core.

The news that the Demon forces haven't been as decimated as expected is a bitter pill to swallow. Turning from the unconscious prisoner Kulnarth absentmindedly engulfs Alchemists hand and drags her into the Treasure room. There he thrusts her towards the pile of Gold and items.

What can I make with these?

Alchemist seems to be clutching her chest, and her face has turned beet red. Is she affected by the Charmed status ailment? You don't have anything to cure that.

"Of course not! It's nothing like that at all!"

Oh. Well can she help?

"Oh well, I suppose. Just be more mindful when you grab someone's hand alright?"

You promise you will!

"Alright, well... from what I can see you can make the following units: holy Slimes, mimics, and Demon Slimes. You also have a bunch of equipment you aren't using. As a knight you can use swords, axes, hammers, lances, and a bunch of other weapons and shields. If you had a Mage Forge you could probably make fire and wind Slimes fairly easily as well. You could also make a bunch of more powerful creatures, but you wouldn't be able to control them at this level."

Make the holy Slimes! We're fighting demons after all.

"Huh, well alright."

Alchemist lures three Slimes into a hastily prepared box. She then bashes the contents repeatedly with her hammer before pouring in the Holy Water. After closing the box she shakes it vigorously until out pop three translucent white Slimes!

>-3 Slimes
>gained Holy Slimes X3

Skills:Holy
Deals extra damage to evil races
Skills: none
Equip: none

Wow that's useful!

"You should think about equipping yourself, but I can't help you with that."

No, she's been really helpful already.

After Alchemist leaves for her shop Kulnarth decides to figure out what he can do.

>Kulnarth acquires the Skill Counter
Requires a shield, turns the Defend action into the Counter action

>Kulnarth acquires the skill Brutal Strike
Requires a two handed weapon. Deals extra damage but leaves you vulnerable afterwards.

As the troops prepare for war, Kulnarth enters the shrine of Undine to pray. The Water elemental moves aside to allow Kulnarth access. From the second he draws near there is a sense of being watched. Even before Kulnarth can kneel in supplication a vast wave of pressure sweeps aside the vision of the temple and replaces it with one of Undines Realm.

Sweeping underwater vistas filled with coral reefs and other deeper, darker spaces appear. From the deepest depths a voice arises sonorous and inescapable.

[bold]Kulnarth, you are one of the few Left who still seek to worship Me and My ways. You are generous and adaptable in equal measure, and I would give you a chance to prove yourself worthy of My regard. I will open a path the My proving grounds. Complete the trials there and you will be found worthy of the gifts I would bestow.[/bold]

A shimmering pane of silver blue water appears inside the Shrine. It is easily large enough for a dungeon dweller to ente

Without hesitation Kulnarth summons a Slime to explain things to the rest of the party and jumps through the shimmering window-like aperture.

He appears in an underwater dungeon level. A mermaid NPC is waiting in the first room.

"Oh, hello there. Your Kulnarth right? We've been waiting for you."

She gestures to three doors behind her. The first has a massive bass relief of a sword and shield, the second depicts a pile of skulls with a monster squatting atop it, and the third shows a staff with dozens of swirling currents around it.

"There are three challenges, each with their own rewards. Be warned however each time you open a door the remaining challenges become much harder. Would you like to open one now?"

Advancing on the ominous door covered in skulls Kulnarth hesitates.

What's in here?

"A challenge to acquire the power of a Devourer. Normally such a thing would be beyond you, but Undine's favor grants you an important exception. Be careful though, despite this opportunity you can die in there. That one especially likes eating challengers."

Oh, any advice?

The mermaid places a slender finger to her mouth as she considers the question "Hmmmm don't die?"

Not very helpful.

Kulnarth enters the Challenge of the Devourer.

The Challenge room more closely resembles an undersea charnel grotto than a proper room. Bones litter the floor along with shattered Core fragments and cracked demon hearts. Everywhere there is evidence of claw and teeth marks. Scraps of skin, membrane, and less identifiable things float by like leaves on the lazy currents. There is a red haze here from the blood that has been spilt in he room. And everywhere there is the sickening sweet smell of decay and rot.

There in the center of the room atop a pile of rent flesh and broken skulls sits the Devourer. He looks like he was once an Aquatic of a race you can't recall. Scaled skin stretches tight over muscles grown monstrous in size. His mouth is filled with jagged teeth grown over one another in a confused jumble. And his hands are more claw than grasping tool.

His jet black eyes regard you as you step into the arena space. Without a word the creature lunges towards you to initiate combat.

Back on Floor 55 Ash and Tethys wait in a shadow, their forms Hidden by the Veil of Leaves as the Armory defenders rush past them in defense of the Castle Gate.

Creeping into the courtyard before the Armory they expect an easy victory.
Only two Possessed soldiers stand before the Armory doors their glowing eyes unable to pierce the Veil that hides the heroes.

Halfway across the wide stone slabs that make up the courtyard a wind scented with camellias blows across the yard. Tethys stiffens instinctively as some part of her Soul cries out a warning.

She pulls Ash back just in time for an Air Cutting attack to slice through where they were standing mere moments before.

A shadowed figure leaps from the roof of the Armory to land in the center of the courtyard.

His armor bears strange runes incomprehensible to Ash, but informative to Tethys. Before either Hero can speak the man chooses to introduce himself.

"Hello, I am Ledos, one of the four "Generals of Heaven" who guard this Castle against the Monsters that seek to defile it. There is no use using your powers of deception here Shinobi! I have long adventured with the woman whose gear you profane. Now at long last I will have vengeance for her death. Come forward and face me in single combat. The little mouse-girl can run where she pleases."

Tethys steps forward out of Hiding and chuckles menacingly.

"ii kagen ni shiro. I gain nothing from fighting you bakayaro."

Cherry blossoms begin blowing from out of nowhere as the setting sun frames the two combatants.

The man smirks behind his mask as he pulls out two scrolls.

"Face me and win and I will give you these ancient ninja technique scrolls and acknowledge you as Sarai's successor."

In the serene light dappled undersea grotto of the Devourer Kulnarth readies himself for battle. The Devourer lays its massive bulk atop the countless victims it has claimed. It's full size is lost in the blood dimmed haze that fills its home. Best to start out by chipping away at its health.

Kulnarth uses Poison. The response is both immediate and brutal. The Devourer moves, quicker than anything has a right to move. Bones, ancient coral reef, sediment, and the hard basalt rock of the floor part like crumbling cheese in a silted cloud as the Devourer massive claw rends furrows in the floor. It has closed the distance between itself and Kulnarth in an instant. The clawed arm breaks free of the cloud of debris and slams into Kulnarth's side. The Royal Resistance of Kulnarth's membrane slows the attack, but the Devourer dreadful strength cannot be denied entirely. Kulnarth's inner fluid and scraps of his membrane join the countless other remnants in the grotto.

With a sweep of its webbed legs and tail the Devourer slams teeth first into the injured Kulnarth. The Slime king manages to brace himself above and below the rending jaws and is carried along with the Devourer's movements. The massive crush of water resistance seeks to force Kulnarth into the open cavern of the beast's mouth, but he manages to hang on. The creatures tooth lined tongues stab out at Kulnarth, but he uses the poison skill directly into the creatures face. This time there can be no chance of missing. The monster thrashes about throwing Kulnarth away without damaging him further. The two foes regard each other warily as they circle one another.

In the Armory courtyard Tethys considers the mysterious swordsman and his offer. Turning to Ash after reaching a decision she tells the Mage to back away.

The two oriental fighters face one another across the windswept courtyard of stone. They are silent, each knows the gravity of this fight. The background noise of the invasion fades away, forgotten. There is no sound, there is no world. There is just self and opponent eternally bound together by the promise of deadly violence. Somewhere a stick breaks underfoot and the two explode into instantaneous movement! Tethys kunai streak as gleaming lines toward vital points. Barely intercepted by the flashing blade of a warrior rushing forward on blurred feet to strike. Even as the tumbling Kunai clatter on the ground the swordsman's flashing blade draws a thin line of crimson across Tethys cheek. A single bead of skaven blood trails down her chin to fall almost delicately on the floor.

Wiping the blood off with the back of her hand Tethys grins maniacally.

"Fufufu your pretty good Ledos-San."

The Skaven ninja flips her Kunai around to hold like a dagger before crouching low on the balls of her feet her tail sweeping back and forth as she tests her balance. Ledos eyes her warily his sword held in two hands in a defensive position.

The two warriors spring forward at the same time. Ledo's footsteps striking sparks across the stone yard while Tethys red scarf flows like a river of blood trailing from her neck. The sword forms a gleaming arc of reflected light that shears through Tethys throat like it isn't there. The smug look of victory vanishes from Ledo's face as the image of Tethys wavers and disappears leaving only thin air! From above and behind him Tethys emerges from Hiding upside down in the air. Whipping her tail around her she spins her entire body as she releases a trio of deadly kunai into Ledos back causing him to stagger as she flips right side up and sticks her landing.

Both warriors have been injured as they turn to face one another. The next pass will likely decide the victor.

The rending talons of The Devourer are a huge problem. One or two more hits like the first one will surely be the end of Kulnarth. Kulnarth searches desperately for some kind of advantage before an idea occurs to him. Coming to a stop in front of a thick coral encrusted basalt cliff face. Searching beneath himself in the bones Kulnarth smiles as he finds exactly what he needs to make his plan work. The Slime Lord begins loudly and obviously casting Water 4. With a shocked expression of glee the Devourer swims forward like a flash it's arms outstretched and its killing talons splayed in anticipation. It barely notices the lingering effects of the Poison due to its aroused bloodlust. The Water spell crashes directly into the creatures face with no effect whatsoever as both it and Kulnarth knew it would! In the last split second before his demise Kulnarth barks a triumphant peal of laughter as he flattens to the ground below. Leaving only the ancient spear long buried in the bones below now braced against the rock cliff face. The Devourer slams Face first into the spear which immediately erupts into flames so hot they persist even in this inhospitable realm. With a ear splitting scream the Devourer flings itself away from the pain thrashing this way and that until at last the burning spear lodged in its left eye gutters out. Half its face has been ruined by the effects. Charred flakes of scale drift aimlessly in the currents. No sooner has the Devourer gathered itself than Kulnarth uses Poison on it again. Despite this the creature seems to be clinging to life with tenacious ferocity.

Ash watches on as the battle of ninja and samurai continues. Each watches the other with murderous intensity. Every breath is weighed, every twitch of muscle judged. Each combatant realizes that their life is on the line. The wind flows past and between them without heeding the mortal tension in the air. A butterfly flaps its wings and all descends into chaos. Tethys launches her Kunai at Ledo who casually leaps over the projectiles with his blade held high overhead. The katana comes crashing down like he judgement of an angry God as Tethys throws up her arm to block the blow. Ledos strike passes from Tethys head downward bisecting her before she vanishes. A welter of blood splashes on the stone floor. Ledos has been stabbed twice in the abdomen. Tethys appears behind him. The Samurai spins expecting an attack only to find Tethys clutching her severed left arm.

The samurai speaks first.

"I hadn't expected as much trouble as you've been. I applaud your determination, but I'm afraid this is where it ends. Surrender and I will spare your worthless life."

Ash steps forward to intervene but stops when Tethys lets go of her arm to hold her hand out and forestall her.

Tethys removes her scarf and using her remaining hand and teeth ties an improvised but effective tourniquet.

"Don't count me out yet kono yarou! I too have my pride as a warrior, as a ninja!"

Ledo stands silent a moment before nodding.

"Then let us see how your 'ninja's honor' matches my Bushido!"

Once more the ninja and samurai clash! Their blades flash faster than the untrained eye can see as they dash past one another. Both stand backs turned towards each other as a trickle of blood flows freely down Tethys neck and chest staining her white fur a deep crimson.

The samurai speaks into the silence.

"I see, so you had that much power all along? As expected of Sarai's successor."

Tethys sheathes the blade she has always possessed but rarely used.

"I trust you will leave the scrolls on your corpse?"

"Of course. I am a man of my word after-"

The noble warrior collapses to his knees amidst a spray of blood from his chest. The words he was to say are swallowed by death as his corpse forms where he fell.

The enraged Devourer is twice as dangerous as it was previously! Its single undamaged eye glares with baleful intensity as it rages about the grotto. Its frightening speed makes it difficult for Kulnarth to remain in its blind spot. And it's deadly claws shear through coral and stone with ease. Kulnarth scrambles through the grotto hiding behind rocks and fleeing when they are destroyed. His would be murderer slows a bit as the poison damages him again. He's fallen into critical condition! A halo of red energy surrounds him as he powers up! Its rushing attack tears through the entire room smashing corals, rocks, and everything else in its way. Kulnarth repeatedly dodges to the enemies blind side until he is cornered in the farthest part of the room. Without the space to dodge further Kulnarth readies a Defend action and hopes he can withstand the onslaught. The Devourer bears down on him with his teeth gnashing and his claws flailing. Seconds before reaching Kulnarth the Poison skill activates for the last time. The beast settles to the floor and stares in listless confusion as it slowly begins to break apart.

An all encompassing wave of light rises up from the floor as The Devourer dies. When it passes Kulnarth finds himself in front of the Mermaid again damaged, but alive.

"Oh wow, you lived?! You must be really strong. Or clever. Probably clever, because you don't look strong."

This is an extremely shortened post due to work interference. The rest of the posts for the evening should be of a more acceptable length.

Kulnarth has acquired the Job of Devourer at level one, but he is still inside the mini-Dungeon created by Undine. He could take this new ability and leave, or he could attempt another challenge.

"Oh hey, I can open another door for you if you would like? I can also heal you if you want."

>have the servant of Undine heal you

In the Armory Tethys and Ash decide to split up. Tethys is easily the more perceptive and quicker of the two, and Ash has the ability to destroy wide swaths of area with her Fire spells.

Tethys finds three locked chests hidden away in the furthest corner of the Armory. There's no way to know what they contain, but it's clearly important since it's the only locked things in the Armory. Sweeping gouts of fire are quickly reducing the Armory to useless char. A decision needs to be made quickly.

Kulnarth considers the two massive doors. There could be anything behind them. Turning to the mermaid he asks her if the healing is a one time offer?

"Oh well not really. It's just something I can do."

Well then I could use some healing!

A warm green glow surrounds the mermaids hands as she stretches them out towards Kulnarth.

"Undine as been very kind with me. I hope you return soon!"

Don't worry I'll be back.

Kulnarth hops back out through the shimmering silver portal. On the other side he wastes no time before heading to the battlefield.

Inside the Armory Tethys somehow manages to gather up two of the treasure chests in one arm. By the time she's done the flames have gotten a mind of their own and begun spreading wildly.

Ash is standing in the middle of the room transfixed by the sight. Her expression seems at once happy and. More than a little concerned.

Tethys tosses one of the chests to her as she runs up breaking the Mage's revere.

"Hayaku shite Ash-chan!"

Ash blinks once or twice before standing up with the chest.

"Ahhh! Right!"

Gathering herself Ash and Tethys flee the burning building, only to be confronted in the courtyard.

There standing amidst the orange burning glow is a woman wearing a black robe that struggles to contain her enormous breasts. Her wicked green eyes gleam from beneath a wide brimmed witch's hat, and her long nails firmly hold on to a knobby oak broom.

The expression of crushing boredom on her face never lifts as she regards the heroes.

"My oh my! They asked me to come save the Armory when we felt Ledo die. But I never expected a little pyromaniac bitch to burn it down."

She begins pacing back and forth with her chin cupped in her free hand.

Tethys sizes the woman up before pulling a Kunai with her tail and addressing her.

"You must be one of the Four Generals of Heaven!"

The Witches eyebrows twitch upwards in surprise.

"Surely you don't believe that idiotic nonsense? My name is Selendra. I'm a Witch. You are one of those pathetic skulking morons who always speak gibberish, and she is a little pyromaniacal whore right?"

Both of the Heroes settle into their fighting stances, only to be waved off dismissively.

"Ludicrous. I'm not going to fight you. I was asked to protect the Armory. And the Armory is a Ruined shit show now. If the little sword stroking fool wanted his precious weapons he should have sent me in the first place. But he didn't because he's gay for swords or some such. And here we are. So scamper on and get out of my way you wretched little pukes."

Meanwhile, Kulnarth arrives at the field of battle to see a complete disaster. Both sides have reached an impasse. The Castle defenders have massive bonuses to their defense, but seem wholly unable to repel your forces. The ground before the Castle has been scorched black by the overlapping blast marks. Here and there the charred remnants of a slime Core or the torn body of a Possessed proves the ferocity of the fighting.

Demon Slime seems to be front and center with Thief Slime and bone slime flanking her. As Kulnarth slides up she positions a holy Slime on a short pedestal her clawed hands hissing and bubbling as they come in contact with the hated Slime. Satisfied with its position she's slides back a bit before rushing forward with some of her slime extended backwards like a leg. Swinging the leg forwards through her body she punts the pure, glowing, happy Slime through the air towards the Demons on the wall.

With a splat sound Holy Slime hits a unholy barrier of smoke just before the Wall and slides down with a sound like sizzling fat.

If he hadn't been distracted with taunting and humiliating Ash he would have destroyed the heart of your Stronghold long before you arrived.

Even then he was three times your level. It took two bosses, a special character, and a summon orb to force him to retreat. And the reason he didn't fight to the end was because you guys got very lucky and inflicted a Status that prevented healing.

The Armory continues to burn happily while Ash and Tethys regard the over endowed witch suspiciously. There's no way an enemy combatant would just let them go is there? Ash is the first one to speak.

"Ah Hello um Selendra was it? Are you really just going to let us go?"

The witch drops her broom which falls a bit before bobbing up and down parallel to the ground about wast high. Seating herself on it she removes an apple from her sleeve and crunches loudly into it.

"Hmm blond AND dumb, what a shock! Of course I'm letting you go, I can't be bothered with every pathetic pair of sluts that cross my path or there would be a trail of bodies from here to Floor 2. My Witches Eye tells me your what? Level 5? Pathetic. I've had shits that put up more fight than you would. Besides the Armory is toast and I don't give a fuck about Frederick's special weapons. The only special weapon he needed was me, even if we aren't on the best terms."

Selendra looks down to polish a spot on her apple and Tethys instantly strikes. Kunai speed through the air towards the Witch's heart. The witch moves her hand slightly with a twist, and the fatal Kunai strikes her apple instead. Selendra stares down at the offending weapon with a look of mild shock.

"Oh my what a nice try. I suppose it's foolish to expect sense from a stinking rat whore. Allow me to demonstrate the difference in our abilities."

The apple begins floating up from her hand glowing with an intense light.

"Hex Cannon." The words precede the formation of a massive magical seal centered on the apple. The apple rots away into nothingness in an instant. The seal glows intensely before collapsing into a point which then explodes outward toward the Heroes. The deadly Hex Cannon flies over their head and impacts the Ruined Armory blasting the entire structure away in an instant.

"So, run!"

Ash and Tethys comply, grabbing up their treasure and fleeing. Running into the ongoing battle and by extension Kulnarth.

For his part Kulnarth is redirecting the remaining forces to the Noble Districs which is comparably lightly defended. Seeing the injured heroes he directs them back to the Baths to rest. Pulling a large chunk of his Xp tokens from the treasury Kulnarth consumes nine of them at once before switching over to Devourer.

Immediately the Royal Slime grows taller and stronger. His membrane thickens to near impenetrable strength. His eyes gain a glint of madness as he stretches his new taller form. A pseudopod most at home smashing walls to splinters takes the remaining tokens and tosses them into its all consuming jaws.

The effect is both dramatic and instantaneous. Everything about Kulnarth swells as he grows stronger than he has ever been before.

I could write another update but there would be like 5000 interruptions. Feel free to brainstorm or ask questions. We resume early tomorrow!

Kill the witch, break the district, move forwards!

Biding our time here is only gonna give the demons and their adventurer buddies more time to figure out a way to deal with us. Ever onwards!

>wanting to fight a witch that leveled a building with an apple while we also fight demons
all things in good time m8, we can devour dat ass when we're the lord of the floor
>>
>>1497187
Some how I think that on his own Kulnarth will get slaughtered by the witch. Besides, if we hit them with the siphon she will lose her magic, then we kill her while she's powerless. Or give her over to demon slime. That would probably be a more permanent solution, what with the fact that adventurers can resurrect and such.
>>
Eat the apple, win the fight.

Joke aside, what abilities do we have as a devourer?

Treated as though carrying a level appropriate 2 handed weapon, and wearing level appropriate armour, but can't use items or defend. Effectively attack and defense goes through the roof and can use any attacks that require a 2-hander

The combined forces of Slimes and Oozes pour into the relatively i defended Noble District. Here the Ruinous nature of the floor is less a matter of age than it is of violence. Shops that once held luxurious items stand in gutted rows, their smashed windows leering like eyes over the streets littered with ancient banners of revolution. Everywhere there is an oppressive feeling of being watched, but turning reveals no one there.

As the army penetrates deeper into the zone the true nature of the conflict becomes evident statues in the fountain plaza have been defaced with arcane symbols. Distortions twist the light as it passes through the air. Whispers hiss at the edge of hearing. And everywhere the feeling of being watched persists.

Just when it looks as if there will be no resistance at all a single man steps out into the street through the burned and toppled hole in his opulent mansion wall. His eyes smolder with Hellfire and the scent of sulphur lingers on the wind as it passes him. His voice when it speaks lacks inflection or emotion and carries an unpleasant echo.

"Leave invaders, this is our feast, our burrowing nest. You are not welcome here."

Kulnarth rises to his full height and peers down at the puny Possessed thing.

We will not leave, try to force us and you will die!

"Then you leave us no choice."

Burning eyes blaze forth like dozens of candles in the dark Shade of the empty houses nearby.

The leader does not even smirk as he gives the order.

"Kill them"

Back at the Ruined Baths Ash and Woolsworth are speaking animatedly after Woolsworth burst in shouting eureka!
"And so you see miss by attaching the conduit to the Forge from the Syphon we could potentially achieve an unrivaled level of thaumalogical supremacy. Of cours I'm not at all certain how magical energy moves so you will need to supervise the linkages. But the basic design has been known to us for thousands of turns."

Ash considers the sheaf of papers covered in nigh incomprehensible technical writing.

"Ahh, well I suppose if this does what you say I should be able to make something for it."

Woolsworth nods enthusiastically as an amber light in his temple begins flashing rapidly.

"Yes yes miss Ash this will be an excellent opportunity! Even if the assemblage undergoes rapid exothermic instability the data we gain will be most useful!

The Possessed mortals rush forward at their leaders command utterly heedless of their own safety. Despite the desperate nature with which they fight their bodies are only human. They tear at the Slimes with tooth and nail. When their bones are broken they stab their enemies with the jagged edges. The Possessed ignore their hosts pain even as involuntary cries are torn from their throats.

It isn't enough. With Kulnarth backing them the Slime army relentlessly forces the suicidally driven Possessed back. Wave after wave of enemies are crushed, smothered, and torn apart by the Slimes. In the end the Fountain plaza is littered with the torn and dismembered bodies, and the Slimes move forward through a small lake of Human Blood.

>Items Gained

Crude Club X 47, Corrupted Human Soul X 30

The Possessed leader has turned his back and fled long before the battle concluded. His fleeing footsteps echo through the streets as he retreats towards the back of the zone.

In hot pursuit the Slime army arrives at a gutted palatial mansion. The entirety of the front facade has been torn down into the street in a jumble of wooden beams and brickwork. The inner floor seems almost entirely taken up with an enourmous summoning seal before which the Possessed Leader is fervently praying.

Kulnarth advances and slams his terribly strong appendage into the face of the leader, only for his attack to be deflected by some unseen force!

A thin Elven girl with dark skin hops lightly down from the third floor.

"Greeting Kulnarth the Devourer I am Song of Swift Victory, adept user of the Far Hands style of martial arts. I request that this matter be settled by a duel between us. I doubt either of us would approve of this thing finishing his summons. If I win you will retreat and I will slay this demon twisted shell. I will of course blame you entirely. If you win You may do as you like and I will not oppose you in this zone. What do you say?"

>fine, we duel
>I will kill you all
>fine let's duel (demon Slime, kill that thing)
>write in

Back at the Ruined Baths Woolsworth is pacing back and forth with his head clutched in his hands. His agitated muttering rises and falls in volume as he reviews less and more upsetting reports.

"No no no! This simply will not do! Where am I going to find a 1.21 gigawatt rated flux capacitor?! How am I supposed to work under these conditions!"

It seems he still has some work to do.

For her part Ash seems to have managed linking the Forge with ease. As the Slimes watch she follows behind Woolsworth trying to comfort him. Unfortunately her platitudes are all taken literally by the Machine Man.

"What? Don't be absurd miss, this has nothing to do with deep sea fishing at all!"

"Uwah! No I meant there must be some other solution."

"Well of course there is, just not fishing!"

Lets eat this delicious brown elf... slowly

Check in on the Adventurer's guild when we have a chance.
Send some thief slimes to scout out the demon area's we've yet to hit. Taking care to note any special characters that are hanging around and whatever information they can get on them. We've been ambushed by several of them as it is, I'd like to know what we're facing in the future.
