>You are Princess Zelda, heir to the fallen throne of Hyrule

>Your father, corrupted by Power, died in a coup, your Kingdom shattered in a civil war 10 years ago, the Hero in Green giving his life to ensure you escaped the conflict

>An uneasy peace has returned to the land, but omens of a descent into greater chaos than before loom on the horizon

>You, Zelda Hyrule, have the potential to claim your birthright and restore the Kingdom to what it once was, bring back true peace to the lands. Your path ahead is not set in stone; you must chisel it in yourself. What kind of Legend will you create?

“Not as stiff, Aveli! Let your movements flow naturally! Sheik, good form but take advantage of your reach! The sword is longer than a dagger, you need to take advantage of that!” Linkle instructs as the girls tire themselves trying to better use their new swords.

You look over your new blade, gripped tight in your right hand, while you hold your Royal Sword in your left. That... did prove effective while you fought the shadowy figure of the Hero, in spite of the monster still catching you off-guard...

“Dual wielding is not an easy trick, Zelda.” Linkle tells you in a tone that sounds like she’s had this conversation many times before. “Be it crossbows, blades, shields, or anything, really. Sword and shield are easy to manage, but two blades comes with more challenges. You sure you wanna go through with it?”

“If you would be willing to teach me, Linkle.” you comment humbly.

She nods. “All right. First, which hand is your dominant one?” she questions, showing the Master Sword in her left hand.

You hold out your right hand. “That would be this one.”

“Then that’ll be where you focus attacking from. It’s easiest for you to manage, don’t have to relearn any older skills. You’ll keep your left hand as your primary defensive hand, the muscle memory is all still there, though you’ll need to focus on learning how to effectively combine your defensive skills with an offensive weapon.”

You take a stance, holding the two swords. Attacking weapon in right, defensive weapon in left. Okay, simple concept. “...Don’t suppose it would be possible to have a third blade?”

She laughs. “Where you gonna hold it, your mouth? You wouldn’t be able to speak very well, and your head isn’t effective at slashing things. Now, try this out.” She swiftly swings the Master Sword in the air with her left hand, then braces with her shield, deflecting an attack that isn’t there. “Imagine parrying with your right hand, but apply it to your left!”

You make a quick slash with your right, then try to guard and parry with your left. You will need to practice with this for some time to get the motions down to effectively use it... “Linkle, if you do not mind my asking... what did your Zelda prefer as her weapon?”

“Magic mostly. She was decent with a sword, she was good with a bow, but she excelled at her spells.”

>A. The magic from the Fairies’ Temples... are they spells she knew?
>B. Keep practicing with this technique, it’ll take some time but be worth it in the long run

You continue training your muscle memory for this skill. It’s defintely not easy, but Impa’s training is paying off for you. You keep up your conversation with Linkle. “The magic I learned at the Fairies’ Temples... were they what your Zelda knew?”

“Yep. She spent a bit longer learning and practicing with them though. Her idea was for the Great Fairies’ to help unlock the magic Hylians possess and give them a quick and easy way to use those spells effectively.”

“You know, we Gerudo have our own magic too.” Aveli comments, training with Sheik directly. “What about us?”

“Onox came up with some more...unique ideas.” she responds, rubbing the back of her neck. “He figured that the Gerudo’s elders knew better at matters of strict magic. He wanted more direct techniques. Like jumping down at an enemy from a height and smashing his fist into them.”

...That sounds oddly familiar. You try to imagine the phantom in the shape of the Hero once more as you work on effectively striking and parrying. “Linkle, would a smaller weapon like a dagger also work with this technique? What of crossbows?”

“Dagger might actually be the better choice until you’ve really mastered this skill. You’re doing fine so far, in fact I’d almost say you can use this effectively, but you’re still slower to react compared to your more normal strikes. Keep in mind that this should be more of a dueling technique than a standard combat skill. As for crossbows... well, you CAN effectively use two at once, but only after a loooooot of training. Far more than I can really give you right now. I’ve done it before, and while it can be exceptionally effective against foes in the short term, reloading becomes an issue very, very quickly.”

“I see... though if I had crossbows that didn’t need to re-agh!” Your mind wavers ever so slightly and you’re caught off-balance, tripping on a rock as you try to move forward. Linkle almost jets to your side, catching you before you fall.

You swear you spot Sheik glaring disapprovingly at you as she helps you back to your feet, Aveli trying not to giggle again. Linkle looks away, giving a short laugh. “Gotta be careful, Zelda. Already got my hands full with one of you, don’t make me start worring about two.”

>A. My apologies, I do not wish to make this difficult for you

“I-I must apologize for that, I do not wish to make this difficult for you...”

She giggles at you. “Zelda, really, it’s fine. Not the first time I’ve had to do that.”

“...Does your Zelda have moments like this too?”

She blushes a little, scratching her nose. “Of course! Ah... well, more often when we first started our adventure. She got better at it, didn’t need me of Onox getting her out of danger as often. Y-you’ll get better too. I know it.”

“I thank you for that encouragement.” you tell her kindly. Your mind does momentarily go back to the letter to your past self... the letter that, by what you’ve been able to guess, Linkle wrote. But looking over the young woman in green, it next goes to a more pressing question. “Linkle... are you at all curious about your counterpart from our time? The Hero who saved me... you must have a hundred questions about him.”

“Heh, more like a hundred thousand.” she laughs out. “But... well, there’s more than that rattling around in my head. I need to be focused on helping the three of you, and, well, whoever else needs my help. Agh, there’s so much I want to do for you all but... I’m stuck here, a relic of the past...”

You look away. “I... I am sorry.”

“Tch, n-no! No need to be sorry! Agh... Well, I do have SOMEONE to start asking questions.” She crosses her arms, pouting.

“...Viol?”

“Viol.”

Viol. He’s going to get quite a talking to next time you see him. “I will be sure he gets an earful next time we meet. And to send him your way.”

“I’d appreciate that.” she tells you, gripping the Master Sword... the Triforce of Courage glowing on the back of her hand.

“...Linkle, would it be possible for the completed Triforce to... ah, I don’t know, bring the Hero back?”

She looks back at you, eybrow raised. “...The Triforce does contain a great deal of power, the power to make wishes come true... but if I had to guess, the spirit of the Hero is still linked with the Triforce of Courage. And the Triforce of Power... that is in Ganon’s possession, isn’t it? That’s easier said than done... and a new Hero may emerge on their own.”

Then we need to bring peace for the next Link or Linkle and the next Zelda or..Zeldale? Maybe we can prepare them like the Great Fairies prepared us with their magic...

“Would the piece you possess not work, Linkle?” you ask, looking at the glowing mark on the back of her hand.

She shakes her head. “Even if it can, it might cause problems. Might risk breaking it. I...” She rubs her head. “Agh, my Zelda’s way better at explaining this than I am. The point is, she told me not to do it.”

“I see...” Quite the conundrum. But one that you will still be able to work with.

“The Triforce’s power is capable of transcending time.” Sheik comments. “But I have never heard of the pieces themselves working through it. It is the Goddesses’ power, something that can not be taken lightly. I would be inclined to agree with Linkle on this.”

“Thank you, Sheik.” she states with a wide smile.

“Linkle... once we leave, where will you go? Will you be staying here, or will you be returning somewhere?”

“As much as I want to help, I can’t really accomplish much more than what I’m already doing here without a Timeshift Stone. And... well, I can’t exactly stay in the Temple of Time forever. I’d need food and stuff at some point.” she chuckles out. “I’ll be going back to my time. Hopefully the next time I am called here, I can do more for you all.”

“You’re already doing a lot for us, and you’re worried about it not being enough? Hah, you really are a Hero, Linkle.” Aveli comments.

She smiles bashfully at the young Gerudo. “Thanks.”

“I will say that your efforts have already started to inspire the next generation, Linkle. Once this all is over, we should work to prepare those that come after us like you did for us. Perhaps using similar methods, like what you did for the Great Fairies...” You notice the rays of sunlight shining through the windows of the room. Dawn has broken.

>A. Sheik, Aveli, we should get some rest. We had a long, rough night, taking some time here to rest up and regain our strength would be a good idea before heading out
>B. Linkle, thank you oh so much for what you’ve done for us. We will be heading out of the Temple, but I promise you that we will return with what you need

“Aveli, Sheik, we should get some rest. It has been a long, rough night for all of us, and we should rest up before heading out. Does that sound acceptable?”

The small Gerudo girl stretches. “Eh... a few hours of rest won’t hurt. After that we can fuel up. Linkle wh-” she starts, catching herself and looking away in embarrassment. “I mean... what did... nevermind.”

“I appreciate the sentiment, but, yeah, still kinda stuck here.” she chuckles. “Ahh if only we were back home... I could fry you girls up some eggs and rice with some Goron Spice.”

Sheik raises an eyebrow. “I’m a little surprised, Linkle. Didn’t think you were the type to really cook.”

“Weeeeell, when you’re on the road a lot, you gotta learn a few tricks to keep your energy up. I’ve tried to teach Onox and Zelda but... it’s had varying degrees of success. Downside to having meals always made for you is that you rarely get the chance to make them yourself.” she states proudly, but catches herself before she brags for too long. “A-anyway! You girls rest up while you can. I’ll keep watch.”

“I appreciate that, Linkle.”

She flashes a thumb’s up. “Not a problem, Zelda! You three get your rest, you still got a Hyrule to save!”

Linkle walks with you all after your bout of rest and some more practice with your new weapons towards the entrance of the Temple of Time. The young woman looks at the shattered replica of the Master Sword broken upon the ground. “So much for that trial...”

“I will readily admit that it made my heart skip a beat in sheer terror when I saw that.” you tell her. As you reach the door, you turn back. “Linkle... from what I’ve heard, Ganon is a phantom of hate and malice. A being born of regret. Might... our Hero have similar regrets keeping him bound to this world?” Zas is one such Phantom, come to think of it... maybe...

She looks back towards the Temple proper. “...Legend tells that the Hero of Time suffered such a fate at one point, incapable of truly passing on until he passed on his skills to the next Hero, the Hero of Twilight. It’s... not exactly a fate I would wish on anyone.” You notice her start to shiver slightly, closing her eyes and taking a deep breath. “That said... he might have some regrets. Some things left unfinished. I... I...”

“...We will make sure he rests peacefully.” Sheik states with confidence. “Your efforts will not be in vain.” She seems to look at you with a mild glare for a moment.

“Th-thank you...” Linkle tells her, eyes focusing back on the three of you, a smile as bright as the sun beaming from her face. “I’d love to do more to help... but I can’t step outside those doors, at least, not yet.” With Master Sword in her left hand, she holds out her right. “Best of luck, Princess Zelda. Stay safe.”

“I promise I will. But I will not be doing this alone.” You look to your allies. “Aveli, Sheik, Horon, and many others have my back. We will not fail, and I promise to you that we will meet again soon, Linkle.” You first shake her hand, then pull her in for a hug. She seems... just a little embarrassed by the gesture, but appreciative of it. “Give my regards to your Zelda, and King Onox.” Out of the corner of your eye you catch glimpse of Sheik raising an eyebrow at you, but making no further comment.

“I definitely will.”

The three of you finally leave the Temple, Aveli stretching her arms as the warm sun greets you all. “Ahh, that was certainly an adventure! Meeting a Hero of the past, getting a few cool new swords out, and sending that jerk puppy prince running with his tail between his legs!”

“It does seem the dragon’s claim was true, given Linkle’s skills. Even if the Darknuts made it to the Master Sword, I doubt they would have been able to claim it from her. Still, while we have prevented its capture, we are without the Master Sword, and the Man With Masks may be on the move again. Princess, what do you suggest?”

“We will travel towards Castle Town first, to meet with Viol, restock our supplies, and confront him over what he said to Linkle. We need some answers, and he has them. The fate of Hyrule could depend on this.” you state with determination, starting to walk. “After that, it would be a good idea to search Hyrule Castle itself. There are Castle tours going that way, if I recall correctly...”

“There are, but heading into the Castle’s ruins proper may be difficult. After the war there were many looters trying to grab whatever valuables they could find. While I doubt they found any of your heirlooms, Princess, it’s caused soldiers and the Nobles still left in the Town to try and keep people from looting it further. Especially with those devoted to Hylia running things...”

Your mind recalls that boy wearing your dress. You are still not sure why he was wearing it, or if you even want it back. “Are you suggesting we do something else?”

“Merely stating that we will need some leeway in. There could be a couple options, either sneaking in while security is light, or getting someone to let us in. Horon is a member of the Nobility, however young he may be.” Sheik explains.

“Might be favoring the sneaking method, to be honest...” you mumble out, causing Aveli to grin wide at you. “Would need disguises of some sort though...”

Sheik shrugs. “If you prefer.”

“Either way, let us be make haste. Viol needs to give us some answers.” You call forth Keaton, having Sheik hop on with you as Aveli makes sure her Belt of Winds is on tight, and blitz off.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IKMf5CQmzvs

You move around the swamp at lightning speed, getting some time to take in the view. Beedle might take you through the swamp directly, but with him not at the Temple and with no way to signal for him, best to just be on your way. Sheik still holds on for dear life, but she is doing better. Mostly.

Aveli is at least enjoying trying to keep up with Keaton’s speed, taking you past the swampy area and around a short path between it and more mountainous terrain that brings you back to Hyrule field proper. The grass beneath you swaying in the wind, the breeze in your hair, it takes a bit for Hyrule Castle to even come into view.

Sheik, still holding you tight, eyes Aveli struggling to keep up with the Keaton’s swift darts around small hills and rocks around the grassland. She turns her head to face you, mumbling something for a moment. You turn your head back. “...Princess, since we have the time... may I be allowed to ask you a personal question?”

“You may feel free, but only if I get to ask one in return.” you tell her, mild curiosity across your face.

She hesitates. Even through her covered face she seems to be biting her lip. But after thinking it over, she nods. “I can agree to that request.”

“Very well. What is your personal question, Sheik?”

She looks back at Aveli, still struggling to keep up with Keaton’s movement, then focuses her eyes on you. “I have noticed that there are times you seem... distracted by certain things. Aveli’s ‘calling dibs’ of Horon. Linkle’s time with us it...” Her face starts to go a little red. “...Princess, are you... what I mean is, are you... like Linkle’s Zelda?”

"Although... the only man I have ever be interested in is the hero who saved me and he was not old enough to be called a man... and he is dead. I would be willing to... explore other interests, but we just don't have the time. The triforce of power will eventually give Ganon a body, if only by allowing him to steal one. I consider my duty to save the kingdom... but after that? I honestly don't know. I kind of expect to not be that lucky and survive that long because I don't feel ready. But if we have Hyrule and I am still alive after that? I guess I could put a regency council or a bidy double and... do things I really want to do? Maybe... date someone I know who isn't dead?"

“I have no intentions of abdicating the throne, Sheik. I still plan to claim it and guide Hyrule as its ruler. I intend to become Queen. Or... hmn, is Empress a bit too much to hope for right now?” you ask her cheekily.

She grumbles at you. “I do not think we have such a title.”

You giggle softly. “...I will be honest with you, Sheik. I... might be? I have not truly given this much thought, given what’s at stake. My focus has been on saving Hyrule. I am not entirely sure on what I want... on who I want. I... have had more opportunity to meet with girls in this journey, perhaps it is skewing things slightly. Though... from what I have seen, Hero and Princess seem to have their destinies linked together, as Linkle does with her Zelda. And... my Hero, our Hero, gave his life to save mine.”

Sheik bows her head humbly. “...I am sorry, I did not wish to bring that up for you once more.”

You shake your head. “Do not apologize, I agreed to answer this question. And answer it I shall... if only to help me sort through some emotions. My duty is, first and foremost, to Hyrule, to saving it from Ganon, to helping bring peace to these lands. But after that? I am still not entirely sure... because there is a part of me still telling me that I am not truly ready for this. That I might not survive this. I have my faith in you, in Aveli, in Horon, in Impa and Zas and Madas and Captain Douglas and... everyone. But it is not easy to completely erase a doubt like that from one’s mind. That said, if we do all make it through this? I may have some time to find someone, at the very least have a regency council set up to I may ease into my role and set some time aside to find out... what I want.”

You find her holding you just a bit tighter. “I must apologize for troubling you like this, Princess... I-I should have known better...”

“If anything, Sheik, you’ve helped me think this through a bit further. And I understand your concerns.” You smile back at her. “Thank you for looking out for me.”

“Now... would you mind telling me a bit about your family, Linkle?”

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kgNrd0nCWtc

She looks to you in mild surprise, shyly glancing away for a moment to collect her thoughts. “Well... my upbringing is as one of the Sheikah. My clan is my family, closely related or not. My mother can be... distant, at times, but she cares for me greatly. She taught me how to follow our path, but would allow me to indulge in my... hobbies. Sometimes to the ire of some of our elders. ‘Those books are filling her head with nonsense!’ they would say. But she and some of my friends would stand up for me time and time again. She couldn’t always be with me, but such is our life. Our clan is dedicated to you, Princess. Each one of us would be willing to lay down our lives to protect yours. Though, if you will allow me to be honest, there were times... that even I had my doubts about that. I rarely ever saw you, and the few times I did, it was always from a distance. I’ve never really gotten to... know you, until recently. All I had to go on were things that the clan, that my mother, would tell me about you.” You see her smile through her covered mouth. “My mother was right about you.”

“...You haven’t mentioned your father.” you note.

“He died when I was young. I remember little about him.” she answers quickly.

“Mm. One thing we have in common.”

Sheik seems to hold you tighter again. “Such is true.”

***Zelda's Journal***

After training with a Hero from the past and revealing some of my plans and fears to my allies, we head to confront a long lived trickster. Will he have clues of were we should head next? If I am supposed to get the Triforce of Wisdom, why I feel so stupid sometimes?

Again, is Horon a girl or I am just projecting because my dad have me sisters of other mothers I don't know about?

And something tells me, vague memories, maybe dreams, maybe a hunch? Light can defeat the darkness... but I don't think a Sword Of Light might work for me, maybe arrows? I don't know how to create light arrows but I should look into it. As much as it pains me I tend to work better using long distance attacks. Maybe if I had the training Sheik had it would be different, but I don't blame Impa. My path is supposed to be one of magic and that takes time. I guess I could cheat if I get a piece of the Triforce of Wisdom and get the knowledge needed directly in my head but nothing truly replaces practice.

The path of a lone hero is not for me, even if I had been training since I took my first baby steps. I work better with others, it makes me wonder, did Link felt alone? To have so much weight in his shoulders and know that he couldn't let others walk the path with her... but why? Linkle had two allies, what happened?

Even with Ganon's corruption, why didn't the other Zeldas take a more active role?

A Hero Of Power Corrupted By Ambition, let's everything be ruled by me!

A Hero Of Wisdom Who Decided Not To Fight, I question if that's the wisest choice.

And A Hero Of Courage, one with a never ending task... one that not even death will give him a rest for.

That's enough!

I won't judge the Zeldas of the past, I won't question why they acted the way they did but of one thing I am sure, if I survive this great task and even if I don't I will make sure the Hero in Green is truly never alone! That even if the final fight has just him and Ganon, that he has people who cares about him and helps him on his journey.

You finally reach Castle Town, Keaton returning to his mask as Aveli catches up to you. “Ha... ha... hah... dang, that guy always been that fast?”

“...From what I recall, yes.” the Sheikah girl tells the Gerudo girl, her legs trembling slightly as she readjusts to a more normal pace of travel. “I am a little surprised you could keep up as well as you did, Aveli.” Sheik comments, walking across the bridge with you.

The path to the main plaza is relatively busy, the noon rush seems to be going on. You trace your steps back to Viol’s shop, your memories of the path to it readily surfacing... and once you reach the shop, you find a sign on it.

[Gone to Lunch. Will Return at 1:30.]

Aveli tilts her head. “...Somehow I should have expected this.”

While this IS quite suspicious... might as well play along for the time being. He might not give a straight answer readily, but best not make it harder on yourself when the time comes. “Girls, let’s wait this out in town. At least until his shop opens back up.”

“Quite a long lunch, don’t you think?” Aveli questions.

“True. But gives us time to look around Castle Town.”

“What do you propose?” Sheik asks.

>A. Sign has a good idea, let’s do lunch!

You first... get an idea. You bring out your sword on the sign to see if there was any secret message hidden underneath. Maybe... nope. Darn. Well maybe the Mask of Truth... aha, there’s something faded that it reveals!

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1WGJFLmF5b0

[Viol was here! L... is a loser!]

...The name is worn away. And you are not really sure what you expected. But it definitely was not that. That... fills your mind with a number of questions.

“...Z, what are you doing?” Aveli asks dryly.

“Checking the sign for truth. And I see truth. Truth is... we probably could do with a proper meal ourselves, no?” Perfect cover. Now you don’t look like a fool.

Sheik just shakes her head. “That... is fine.”

Aveli raises her hand like she’s about to protest, but a low grumble interrupts her. She slowly lowers her hand. “Yeah. Fine.”

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SgIjJWYUxac

The three of you head to Rosa Tavern. It’s a little funny to you, just a few days ago, that place is where you first heard about Aveli... and come to think of it, Lynna, and Horon. You sit down with the girls, briefly overhearing a few conversations. There’s talk of Captain Douglas and his men encountering a rather large horde of Moblins, talk of a knight wearing armor of red and gold fighting... well, what sounds to be a small dragon near Death Mountain, talk of some strange figure heading into the Lost Woods, and a few Zora talking about... well, you hear the word “bird vehicle” thrown about but have no real idea what it means.

Aveli meanwhile looks over the menu, Sheik giving it a brief glance before putting it down.

>A. Say, girls, what meals do you two prefer, usually?
>B. Order something light for yourself, just enough to fill you up (10 Rupees)

You know what? You’re hungry. You’re getting a PROPER meal this time. You can grab some cash another time. You order the Seafood Paella, Aveli ordering a similarly large meal, the Spicy Gourmet Meat Curry, while Sheik opts for a smaller meal, Fried Wild Greens.

The meals arrive rather quickly, to your surprise. Aveli quickly chows down, while Sheik takes her time with her meal. “You sure that’s all you need, Sheik?” the Gerudo girl questions, shoveling in the curry.

“I have been trained to make due with a modest meal. Vegetables serve for getting in the right amount of nutrients to keep the body going.” she explains.

“Ah, veggies are good and all, but you miss out on the best part if all you have is those! The thick, chewy meat!” She declares, taking a brief break to fan her mouth. “Ahh, damn, got a kick to it! Hits like an afternoon sun!”

“An... interesting way to put it.” Sheik comments.

Your own meal has a nice, fragrant smell to it that accentuates the texture of the dish, making nearly every bite of the fish and rice more delicious than the last. “What other meals do you tend to have, Sheik? Is it mostly vegetables?”

“Well, the meats we usually have are more often than not a form of poultry, or leaner game.”

“Poultry, huh? Not a bad choice, but nothing beats a nice, juicy steak.” Aveli adds.

“Building muscle does require a good amount of protein.” you comment aloud. “Is there anything else you tend to go for?”

“A good, strong drink would be nice. Might have to ask for one after this, something that kicks like a horse.” Aveli tells you. “How about you, Sheik? What’s your poison?”

“I... Aveli aren’t you a little young for that?” she questions.

“Fah, that’s how you get to be a lightweight. Never gonna be able to handle one of those Noble Pursuits if you don't build up some tolerance.” the girl states proudly.

As the three of you converse, you start to hear some people arguing at one end of the tavern. And one word seems most present in the argument. “Heretic.” And... there’s a small man in a green leotard, with red... underwear on the outside of it? He seems familiar... ah, you saw him at the Temple of Hylia.

>A. Try to ignore it, just enjoy your meal while you can

You... hesitate turning your attention to the scene. But you should at least be aware of what’s going on. Shouldn’t let it interrupt your meal, but... it’s sounding like it’s getting fairly heated.

“Your heretical ways are already twisting people away from the Goddesses!” a tall man declares at the smaller man in green leotard.

“And how much charity have you given under your old ways?” the man in green asks in return, smiling smugly.

“It’s not about charity, it’s about doing what the Goddesses asked of us! Turning your back on them will only bring us further down the path of ruin!” another man shouts out. “

“We are giving proper reverence to the Goddess that our land takes its name from! Her Grace, who took our form and guides us! And when the Princess returns to us, she will be thanking us for our service! Our devotion!” a woman retorts.

“All she will have for you heretics is rebuke! Rebuke as you defile our Temples and corrupt more minds!”

“She will have rebuke for those who did nothing to help their fellow Hylians!”

The crowd is about... 16 people, 7 with the man in green, 8 against them. A couple in the back seem to be pushing forward, making jabbing motions. And at least half of the people, thankfully not the ones shouting, are visibly drunk. This... might become a brawl soon.

“...We should try to keep away from this. As much as I do not like these conflicts, I doubt it would be good for you if you get caught up in something like this.” Sheik whispers to you.

“Aww, come now. Bar fights are a fun spectacle.” Aveli comments, leaning back in her chair.

“As fun as it may be for you, Aveli... certain people can not really risk encounters like this.” you tell the girl quietly, trying to finish your meal quickly.

She starts to sink into her chair a bit. “A-ah, right... sorry...”

Soon enough, the shouting gets louder, and the crowds grow larger. You nearly choke down the last bite of fish as the first punch gets thrown. The waitress makes her way to your table, sighing loudly and apologetically towards you. “They’re usually better behaved. Something’s been getting them riled up these last few days.”

“It is fine. The meal was exceptional, my compliments to the chef.” you tell her, handing over 30 Rupees.

[Rupees: 240/500]

She nods. “Thank you for that, ma’am. You have a safe day.”

Sheik hands over 15 Rupees herself. Aveli, to your surprise, hands over 40, a full 10 more than her meal was. “Keep the change.”

As the fight starts, the three of you leave, a couple more folks having the same idea. Sheik looks to the Gerudo girl with curiosity. “Why the tip?”

“Gerudo custom. Whenever a bar fight breaks out, always proper to pay the owner some for the damages.”

“...But you aren’t partaking in it.” Sheik notes, her eyes briefly going wide, then becoming critically narrow as she follows up the statement with a, “Right?”

“Nah. Those punks aren’t much of a challenge. I’m covering for the furniture they’re about to break in three... two... one...”

A loud crash of splintering wood signals someone going through a table inside there. Sheik is mildly impressed. “I am not sure how I should feel about how accurate that timing was.”

The young Iron Knuckle simply smiles in response.

“Well, at least the eatin’ was good.” Aveli comments, walking along with you and Sheik.

“I do worry about that. The Sheikah have been keeping tabs on their sudden growth, and the Order of Hylia has... had some push-back from more traditional Hylians. Nobility was quick to adopt it, but we’ve had a sneaking suspicion that it was for political reasons, to help legitimaze their remaining power.” Sheik comments quietly to you.

“Mmn. I did help them when I was first here in Castle Town.” you note. “They were hospitable.”

“Eh, if you’re sure.” Aveli comments.

Along the way, you... spot that kid with your dress again. Aveli does a brief double-take, her steps slowing behind yours and Sheik as she looks at the strange sight. She hurries quickly after you upon realizing she’s staring. “Do... why is...”

You get just a little curious. Putting on the Mask of Truth, you scout around the sections to try and find any sort of hidden books on magic. Your action immediately draws confusion from your friends. “...Sh-should we tell her?”

“She knows what she’s doing.” Sheik tells Aveli in a voice that sounds less like she’s confident about it and more like she’s trying to convince herself.

Ah, but you’re sure of it! There’s something hidden in here. You keep up the search, scouring the library for something new. Let’s see... [A Hyrulean Bestiary]? No... Mushroom Encyclopedia]? Bah, can’t be... [Gorman's Guide to Good Grub]? No, no... [So Your Son Wants to Be a Hero]... [A History of Mas-] ...is that a tiny little person you see on the bookshelf? You lift up your mask briefly to make sure you saw that right. Huh. No, guess it was nothing. Aw well, back to the search! You pull the mask back down and...

THWACK.

In the brief moment you have trying to readjust your vision, trying to move forward, you slip and headbutt the book shelf. That didn’t leave any... lasting damage. But ow. Ow. Not again.

THUNK.

Agh! And now something just fell on your head. Sheik rushes to your aid while you can head Aveli trying her best not to laugh. You check what fell on your head. Who put a-

You find a seat and open up the book. “Girls... if you do not mind, could you see if there are any more tomes like this one around here?”

“We gonna have to headbutt the book shelves too?” Aveli questions.
You pout at her, rubbing your head. “Very funny.”

Okay, let’s really get into this. Hrmn. The language of the tome is... well, even with the education you’ve managed, archaic and strange. A lot of it theory mixed with almost sermon-like descriptions of the world. Ascribing the origin of magic to the Goddesses, postulating that magic an intentional aspect of their creation of the world, and that certain beings are better suited to utilizing magic naturally... hrmn. Makes sense. But... there seems to be things that are simply too absurd to be true. That magic is carried by tiny, invisible faries when spells are cast, for example. Though... there is something that catches your eye.

Magic that can be used to enchant and enhance weapons. You see descriptions of four such things. Fire, you’ve seen the Gerudo capable of with their cannon. Ice, and there are mentions of such things located in the far north. Shock, somehow gaining control of lightning. And... Light. It claims that only a member of the Royal family is capable of utilizing such an enchantment. Something about how they descend from Hylia herself...

You delve deeper into this idea. Agh, it would take days, weeks to truly learn all of what it has to offer... but there do seem to be hints for you to search for. It identifies the Gerudo as being skilled in magic pertaining to both Fire and Ice, but only a rare few. It further points to a Sage of Hyrule residing atop Snowpeak Fortress, dedicated to understanding the mechanics of Ice. And to the north-east there is talk of... a “Thunderbird”? It seems to be related to this magic that utilizes lightning.

Ah, but the description on Light the most puzzling... and personally frustrating. It gives so much description on princesses and queens demonstrating the abilities, but very little on HOW they actually did it... save that they learned from relatives. The speculation the tome gives on it is of little help, too. It just seems to... assume that the Royal Family can simply do these things, easily. There are comments that... many who can do such things, learned so from their mothers.

...

You let out a soft sigh. These things are things you’re capable of. But it feels like you’re learning more through brute force than the elegant lessons that previous Zeldas learned from. You... haven’t really had a chance to learn like they did, even with all Impa could do for you. You let the book rest on your lap as you look over your hands. “...What do I have to do to access it? I have magic already, but there’s something deeper...”

You spot Aveli searching still, while... huh, Sheik is reading something too.

>A. Look more on the things it has on Gerudo... maybe there’s something you can help Aveli learn?
>B. Read more on what it has to say about Snowpeak
>C. “Thunderbird” huh? Maybe there’s something to this...
>D. Sheik, what are you reading?

>Impa
Actually didn't notice that angle was already addressed in my post.

Also, the Gerudo clearly have a handle on their magic and if Aveli has an interest in gire/ice she can clearly do something about that. I doubt the Hylan book has much additional insight, but maybe let her flip through it just in case.

Well... perhaps there is more to this “Thunderbird.” It seems to be a creature that lives in the North-East of Hyrule, or at least legends tell of it inhabiting that region. But... hrmn. The bird seems to somehow live IN the clouds. How can that-

...

Of course! The Great Sky Temple! Ah, so the secrets to this form of magic reside in that Temple... come to think of it, this could be the secret they held that kept Ganon at bay. The power to call bolts of lightning down upon their foes... hrmn. However many individuals reside there, maybe... they could teach you how to harness your magic better?

In either case, you’ve got some great ideas now. And one of them will be keeping this tome handy. You look back to Sheik. “You seem quite invested in that book.”

Sheik nearly leaps in surprise upon hearing your voice. “A-ah... m-my apologies, I-I should be looking...” she mumbles out, face bright red.

“...Romance novel?”

She hides her face with the book. “I am very sorry, it was... just one in a series I’ve been- ...I-I’ll put it back.”

You giggle quietly, catching the title of the book. “Sheik, it’s fine. You can read as much of... ‘Passion Under the Desert Sun V’ as you want.”

“...It’s not what it looks like.” Sheik mumbles out. “I just... the fourth book ended on a cliffhanger with Muava finally finding Lover’s Pond and there was someone else there and-”

You try your hardest not to giggle any louder. “Take it with you. I have some reading I will be doing later as well, especially with what I’ve learned...”

So, with the new book, you have an insight into magic you lacked before. But there’s still something you can’t figure out on your own. Agh, if only you had someone who has been... through...

Your eyes go wide. Linkle’s Zelda has years more experience and training than you do! If you could somehow get in contact with her, she could show you the path you need to take to access your deeper Magic skills. You stand, book in hand, a confident smile on your face. One more reason to get the Timeshift Stone soon!

You check out the [Sages’ Secrets] book, the librarian curious. “I haven’t seen that in years. I assumed somebody stole it...”

“Would you believe that it was on the top of one of your bookshelves?” you ask with a smile, rubbing your head a bit.

“...Given how little a certain someone cleans them, yes.” he lets out in a sigh.

Thinking about it... it could be those tiny people that have been hiding it all this time. Maybe. If you weren’t imagining it. You did not see any more of them after finding the book, so can not be certain. In any case, you have some goals set after this. Getting in contact with Linkle’s Zelda. Traveling to the Great Sky Temple and figuring out their magic. Perhaps... getting an enhanced bow that can straight-up fire magic? Or a crossbow... maybe see if the girls can learn some magic too?

But that is for later. Right now, you need to meet with Viol again. You travel through the town with Aveli and Sheik, returning to Viol’s shop. The sign is gone.

You approach him calmly, catching sight of the mask he has. A strange purple color to it, various spikes upon its face with two large, yellow, soul-piercing eyes. “More supplies would be handy, and yes, it has proven to be quite helpful already. I thank you for going out of your way to get that.”

“Glad to hear, Miss Termina! So, anything in particular you’re looking for today?”

“Well... actually, I tried to come here around noon, but a sign outside said you were out to lunch. For quite a long time, actually.”

“Ahh, you must forgive me. I was one one of the Castle Tours again, had lunch out.”

“Mmn. I was at Rosa Tavern. Was going great until the bar fight started.”

Viol hangs his head. “Oh no. Again? Was it... the heretics?”

“That name calling is one thing that started it, yes.” Hrmn. Seems he has most of the same supplies as before, but there are a few potions you could fill up on. “...You would not happen to know of some sort of bow or crossbow that works off magic, do you?”

He freezes up momentarily. “...So you’ve been looking for that too, huh?”

“You do know of one?”

He crosses his arms. “...Ah what the hell. Heard rumors that there’s such a thing in Hyrule Castle, but I’ve never been able to find it.”

“...So your ‘Castle Tour’ included a detour, did it not?”

“I’ll be honest with you, I’ve been searching for such a thing for years. I have found a few prototype hand cannons, but none of them really work anymore. Too rusted.”

“By the way... where might you have gotten that mask? It’s... quite strange.”

“Got it off a fellow merchant not too long ago. Would you believe this thing is hundreds of years old?” He knocks on the mask. “But it holds up so well. Legend apparently tells that it held a dark spirit that was vanquished by a mighty Hero in times past.”

You gulp.

None can. We can at most give them to the Gerudo for research in exchange of them making us a magic crossbow.

Basically to use one you need to be big and strong (and heavy) due to the recoil, hence why it felt out of use since only one male gerudo every 100 years.

“You... would not happen to still have one of those prototype hand cannons around, would you?” you question hesitantly.

“Eh, gimme a moment. Not really worth selling, much less using.” He moves into the back of his store, leaving the mask alone with you.

...It’s strange, as vicious as it looks, there doesn’t really FEEL like there’s something awful trapped inside it. Maybe... it’s just a mask? Viol quickly comes back, showing you... wow, this thing is massive. Almost as big as the ones the Darknuts were carrying.

“THIS...” he puts it on the counter with a loud thud, “Is what I was able to find. Worked like a regular cannon, just reduced in size. Place a small bomb inside, fill it with a small cannon ball, blasts it hard enough to break through stone walls. Problem is you need someone with a lot of upper body strength to really use it effectively, and it’s got a low rate of fire compared to bow or crossbow.”

The ornamental details of the cannon make it look a bit like a dragon, though some parts have clearly been broken or rusted away. You definitely could not use such a thing effectively... but, maybe someone with lots more strength could. Like the Gorons. “I see what you mean. Have you found any individuals interested in possibly repairing it?”

“Eh, a couple, but none have really succeeded. My first one actually fell apart completely after repair attempts.” he explains, lifting it carefully and bringing it away.

You look back to the mask again as you wait for him to return. “...What was the merchant like?”

“Pardon?”

“The merchant who sold you this thing... did he seem at all suspicious?”

You hear... Viol laughing. “Suspicious? That’s putting it mildly! Tall, lanky guy with a creepy smile and big bag full of masks and other trinkets, trying to pawn off this strange and creepy thing? I bought it off him just so I could make sure it wasn’t up to anything evil.”

...You feel a bit of relief. “Well, you do have a good head on your shoulders. What did you do with the mask?”

“Took it to the Great Fairy here in Castle Town. She had it looked over. Seemed familiar with it, but told me with relief that it’s got no cursed spirit or anything still lingering.”

“...Did she, or the salesman know anything about the hero who defeated the monster in this mask’s legend? Was he like... some sort of Hero in Green?”

“Sounded like it.”

“Well, would you mind if I try to take that hand cannon to the Gerudo, or Gorons? Maybe they could repair it...”

“They would need detailed sketches on its internals. Something that small being used as a cannon has to be constructed carefully or else it’ll just blow up in the user’s hands. Might find those somewhere in the Castle...”

“That is understandable. Would you have any idea where it might be?”

“If I did, we wouldn’t be having this conversation.” he tells you with a slightly smug smile.

You smile back. There might be some places he doesn’t know about... but you do. Viol next takes the mask, bringing it into the back. “Hmn. Could the mask be used to ward off evil spirits?” you speculate.

Viol shrugs. “Eh, no idea. It’s just a mask. Whatever powers it had are gone, supposedly when the Hero defeated the monster that resided inside it.”

“...You know, I met one the other night.”

Viol drops the mask, turning back to you, eyes wide. “...Did you now?”

“In the Temple of Time. Her name was Linkle.”

Viol starts to slowly walk back to you... a smile appearing on his face from a slight twitch, eyes still wide. “...So it was. Miss... Termina?” The way he says the name is awkward, like he no longer trusts it. “Whatever were you doing in a place like that?”

Viol hesitantly nods. “I’d guessed you were the Hero. I... wanted to help you, to make up for what happened. What is your secret?”

“I am not the Hero in Green, not the Hero of Courage... but I may be something similar.” You give a respectful curtsey, quietly telling the young man, “I am Princess Zelda Hyrule, Heir to the Throne, and from what I can guess... Hero of Wisdom.”

Viol’s legs give way and he stumbles, only barely catching himself in time to keep himself up. “...In all my years... you... you’re still alive?!”

“That I am, last I checked. I am no phantom just yet.” you tell him with a smile. “...And you are connected to the Hero.”

Viol takes in a deep breath. “We... were rivals.”

“Rivals?”

“Rivals. I tried to be his better... and I learned too late that I did not have the Courage it took to be the Hero.” the merchant looks down at his hands. “I... failed you. I failed him. Your eye twitches, but you keep yourself calm. “Viol... can you explain more on this? How were you two rivals?”

“We would continuously compete with one another, trying to best each other. For the longest time I was a step ahead of him, confident that I would be the one who claimed the Master Sword, who became the Hero of legend. I... I kept trying to outdo him. I kept trying to outpace him. I kept trying to show I was the Hero that would protect Hyrule.” A tear strolls down his cheek. “I was so bitter, so angry when the Triforce of Courage showed up on his left hand. I couldn’t stand it. After everything I did... everything I tried to accomplish, after how far I came... I was still the lesser.”

“...Is that why there’s a mark on your sign outside?”

“M-Mark?”

“‘Viol was here, L... is a loser!’ I believe it says.”

“...I erased that years ago.” he says, mildly dumbfounded.

“The Mask of Truth picked it up.”

“...I see. The point stands... I was jealous of him, Princess. And he is gone because of me.”

“Viol, you can not blame yourself for such an event. My... my father, taking the actions he did, igniting a curse from a cycle older than any of us... His actions are what caused the Civil War. The Hero protected me from an untimely grave, and for that I will always be thankful, but you can not hold yourself responsible for what happened to him.”

https://youtu.be/C0XJrZMn7zw

Viol looks down. “...I watched him die, Princess.”

Your heart skips a beat. “What?”

“I watched him die. I saw him fall. I... I could have helped him, but I was too much of a coward to even try. On that day I realized why I would never possess the Triforce of Courage. Because I lacked it. Because if it were me, you would not be here...”

Courage isn't about being fearless, it's about overcoming fear. The greater the fear, the more courage you'll need.

Being brave isn't about not having fear, it's accepting it.

Your eye twitches again... and you give Viol a quick slap across the face. You spot Aveli quickly look inside through the window, the Gerudo girl relieved to see you’re fine, but now focused on what you’re doing in there.

“...I deserved that.” he comments.

https://youtu.be/suns5eH5sHs

“You needed it more than you deserved it. You wanted someone to punish you for that transgression, and... I will not pretend your statement does not make me angry, Viol... but at the same time I can see just how far you have come from that day. Viol... courage is not about being fearless. It is about being able to face your fears. And the greater the fear, the more courage you will need. And what you just told me? You have been dreading this for years. But you confronted it.”

The dread across his face slowly begins to disappear. “...I guess such is true.”

“I will not blame you for your actions if you can continue to show this kind of courage. If you can agree to help me. If you will join me... in trying to save Hyrule.”

A bit of warmth comes across his face again. He smiles humbly. “...I believe we have a deal?”

You hold out your hand. “Deal.”

He shakes. “A pleasure doing business with you... Princess Zelda.”

“Now... I have one final request. Would you... would you know where the Hero’s grave is? Where his body has been laid to rest?”

“I... I do. Why do you ask?”

>A. I wish to pay my respects to him. Properly

You look in the direction of Hyrule Castle, catching sight of it through a window. “Two reasons. First... well, would you believe me if I said I am just a bit worried that some person may try to desecrate it?”

“...As much as I wish I couldn’t, I can’t rule it out.” he sighs out.

“And second... I wish to pay my proper respects to him. I owe him so much... it is only fitting.”

Viol nods. “I can understand that.”

“Thank you, Viol. I am glad I can count on you as an ally. Now, let us work together, to save Hyrule!”

All right folks, that's it for this thread. I’ll be around for a bit for questions and such for a while. Did y’all have fun?
>>
>>1502479
Thread's been a blast, Kato! Thanks for running! Starting to like Viol quite a bit more now.

Okay, so, today's gonna be a bit different. We're hit 30 threads of varying length, and I've got a few things I'd like to go over.

I'll be honest on this: content-wise, at least, for what I have planned, we're a bit over halfway through. So, I'd like to ask y'all some things, just to get some feedback.

Which Temples have y'all liked the most? Which ones have y'all liked the least? Any reasons why?

What characters have y'all had the most fun with so far? Which characters have y'all liked the least? Why so?

Are there any places y'all would like to revisit? How about places y'all have heard about or seen that you might want to go? Places you don't want to go back to?

And lastly, are there any other bits you'd like to give some feedback on?
>>
>>1503457
I'm just a simply tuffle quester, trying to get his Kato fix. Just keep doing what your doin'.
>>
>>1503457
Okay Kato

>Temple's
Favorite so far is probably the Temple of Time. Had some fun challenges and the hype from Linkle showing up is still on my mind. Least... uh, I guess the Temple of Hylia? Was kinda short.

Aveli and Lynna are my favorites so far, Sheik is adorable too, Horon is fun, and starting to like Viol quite a bit more now. Ehhhh... I guess the Darknut Prince guy I don't like all that much? Not been enough of a threat to make me all that interested in him.

>Revisit
Lynna's home town. Wanna see her again.
>Go to
Sky Temple
>Avoid
Would prefer if we don't redo any Temples.

>Feedback
Not much else to add. Been fun, Kato.
>>
>>1503457
>Temples
Favorite temple was probably the Temple of Nayru, it was just a little bit dark and I thought you described the temple really well. Personally, I find the descriptions and stories of the temples themselves the most interesting part of them.

I can't really pick a worst one, all the rest were good, just not as memorably as that one. Really looking forward to the Great Sky Temple though.

>Characters
Sheik is my favorite. She's cute, and the way her and Zelda's relationship evolved from being so one-sided is interesting.

Least favorite is Lynna. So far she doesn't really have much of a personality, but we've seen her the least so I guess that makes sense.

Zelda herself gets an honorable mention here though. She talks in a way that's philosophical and almost pretentious, which definitely makes sense for a princess (and for a hero of wisdom), but no one really calls her on it now that she's pretending not to be. But that's not really a problem with her character.

>Revisits
I think I'd much rather explore new areas than revisit old ones.
>>
>>1503530
Soon enough.

>>1503840
>>1504102
Thank you very much, anons! I'll be taking your feedback into account. I'll again say that I'm quite glad with the reception Sheik's been getting, I was quite worried on introducing her as a separate character.

Okay, I'm going to continue the thread starting ~5:30 pm PST tomorrow. See y'all there!
>>
>>1503457
>Temples
Temple of Time and/or the temple we fought the skele dragon in.

>Characters
Aveli and Sheik stand out the most, in a good way. Zelda herself suffers from a little bit of protagonist blandness that's hard to avoid.

>Revisits
Only if the temple is completely altered in some way as to present a new challenge.

See you tomorrow boss

Okay, we're back!

Viol takes a moment to really take in all that just happened. It’s like a wave of relief washes over him. Like weight has lifted off his shoulders. “Now... would you mind telling me who that young Gerudo might be, poking her head in through the window?” Viol asks, tilting his head and giving her a little wave. “I assumed she’s with you, I recognize her from the Gerudo Desert.”

Aveli jolts her head out of the way from the window. Guess there’s no point in hiding it. “Quite observant. She wasn’t making that much noise.”

“When you’ve been in this game for as long as I have, you pick up on a few things. Like how to tell when someone is spying on you.”

>A. Aveli, Sheik, it’s fine, come on in

“Aveli, Sheik, it’s fine, you can come on in.” you tell the girls, loud enough for them to hear.

The door opens, and in steps the young Gerudo. “...Soooo. He’s on our side, right?”

“I will help the Princess, yes.” Viol comments quietly.

“Good.” Sheik states bluntly, appearing seemingly out of nowhere.

“BY DIN’S FIREY-! H-how long have you been there!?” Viol exclaims, nearly leaping over the counter.

“It is my duty to protect the Princess, especially when she goes to meet suspicious characters on her own.”

“Yoooou broke into my shop. How did you get past the alarms?” Viol questions.

“Carefully.”

You chuckle softly at that comment. “Viol... how do you intend to help us? Do you intend to bring your shop’s items, or do you have an arsenal of your own?”

The merchant straightens himself out. “Well, for starters... I still have a few... toys, left over from my adventurer days. Second, if you will allow it, I would like to help you with research and development. Magic, weapons, clues, that sort of thing. Plus I could help you with acquiring new items. Won’t be free, but all I ask in payment is enough to cover acquisition costs. Much less than most sales costs. I swear on my honor as a merchant, I will do my best to keep you well-stocked.” He gives a kind smile. “Does that all sound fair?”

>A. Certainly
>B. Why not free?

These, yeah.
>>
>>1510436
Seconded, but reflect that what he as to do and get probably isn't free to begin with so making it free on his end is poor logic.
>>
>>1510245
You figure you know the answer, but might as well ask, “Why not do it for free? I am sure you are already fairly well-off, given what your discounts and deals you’ve offered.”

“Simple economics. Raw materials, time, energy. But I’m not so cheap that I’d penny pinch the Princess. I’ll be paying the majority out of pocket, but I will need a bit of help to cover all the expenses.”

“Quite noble of you.” Aveli comments.

“No, it makes sense.” you state. “Few things come cheaply, much less for free. I do find this deal to be acceptable. What are your intentions for research and development? You mean things like the hand cannon prototype you have?”

“That, and more. I like your idea on seeing if the Gorons can use it. I will need to find proper schematics on it... hrmn, there are a few other things I can work with too.” Ideas seem to race around in his head. “Ahh... yes, the bow. Could see if I could make that work more like a crossbow, get it to fire harder...”

“I’m liking what I’m hearing.”

“Hrmn... Miss...Aveli, correct? Armor is more to your liking, yes?” Viol asks.

“Mmmmaybe. But don’t expect me to give it up unless you’ve got something better.” she mumbles out suspiciously.

“I’ll do my best. And... Miss Sheik, correct?”

“If I need something from you, I will ask.” she comments coldly.

“Fair enough, fair enough...” he says, backing away slightly.

You rub your chin. “Will you be joining us on any trips through Temples or Dungeons or the like? We could use an extra pair of hands...”

“I’ll probably not be needed, plus I have my own things to do... but if it comes down to it, I will certainly be happy to help you.” the man in purple says with a mild bit of hesitation in his voice. “I merely think it would be best to prioritize my skills where they’re needed the most.”

“Heh, if we make it through all this, think you’d be interested in working for the Royal Treasury? Your skills as a merchant and a businessman seem on point.”

“I’ll not be so bold as to try to take such a position without earning it fairly.” Viol says with a grin. “But I appreciate the thought. Now, anything else you might need to go over?”

>A. Another person who’s agreed to help me is... a boy named Horon

Hmm I'll go with this.

In addition on the matter of Horon... his heart is completely not in the right place, but it isn't inconceivable that he takes on the mantle of hero one day just by sure grit and a bit more insight. At least he's about as capable as he is insufferable.
>>
>>1510919
Supporting as well.

>>1510936
Yeah, Horon is like a more competent TAS Link. We can at least try to help him become a true Hero.
>>
>>1510966
Yeah that's the thing. He seems to have courage down pat, but the *hero* aspect is currently beyond him.

“So, are there any other places you might suggest we visit? Things that might help you get the supplies you need?”

“Snowpeak Tower. It has a ton of materials leftover from the war, and little of it would have been looted by now.”

You tilt your head. “Why’s that?”

Viol motions to a map. “It’s hard to reach, for starters. Snowpeak’s been abandoned for years, and the few Zora in their colony nearby don’t want to risk freezing to death searching for valuable loot. Second, it’s gotten lousy with monsters. There are more pressing matters for the military forces patrolling greener pastures, and it would take skilled adventurers to make it through there. Lastly, it’s the best place to find anything that we can’t find in Hyrule Castle’s ruins. Military outpost, after all.”

Aveli seems to shrink back a bit. “Egh... not much of a fan of the snow.”

“For once a certain someone’s pyromania might come in handy... ah, right! Viol, another person has agreed to help me... a boy named Horon.”

Dread fills his eyes. “D-does... does he know...?”

“He is not aware of who I am, no. And... ugh.” You hang your head. That’s... going to come up at some point, isn’t it? “The point is, I have agreed to meet with him again soon. You know of him I take it?”

“...More than I would like. That boy is still trying to play Hero, huh?”

“Well... personality aside, he does not do too poorly with the attempts?” Trying to make this sound good.

“I call dibs still.” Aveli comments, Viol giving her a strange look. “...What?”

“...The Gerudo can be a mysterious people sometimes.” he sighs out.

“What’s that supposed to mean?” she grumbles.

“I will... do what I can for the boy. Well, at least he’s familiar with me...”

Most things in order, but one last thing to address... “Viol, the Man with Masks... he pawned off that mask to you. Do you think he was interested in some sort of power it used to possess? And what else might you know of him?”

“He showed up not too long ago. I’ve tried to keep tabs on him, but his movements are... almost random. He’d show up from place to place, sometimes traveling all of Hyrule in a moment, sometimes not being anywhere notable for days, weeks.”

“There’s more you should know...” You explain your encounters with the masked monsters, the Darknut Prince, your dreams... and last but certainly not least, the Dragon.

Viol is momentarily stunned to silence. “That... I figured he was up to no good, but I didn’t realize just WHAT he’s been up to... Goddesses...”

“Do you know of what his goals might be? Any ideas on where he might try to strike next? Anything to go on with his... Mask ‘theme’ he has going?”

“Chaos. That’s what I’m getting out of this. Bring back that monster, bring Hyrule into a spiral of despair. Or maybe this chaos is a cover for something. Maybe he’s just a madman.”

“Little too coordinated to be a simple madman...”

Viol looks down at the mask he acquired. “...Maybe...”

“Hmn?”

“It’s a long shot. But... maybe he’s trying to not truly bring back Ganon?” Viol speculates. “Perhaps, like the tale of this mask... he wishes to seal the great evil into a mask?”

Aveli scratches her head. “Uh... why? What would he gain from having a powerful spirit sealed in a mask?”

“A degree of control of it, perhaps...”

A shiver travels down your spine. “That is an unsettling theory.”

“I honestly do not have much else to go on.” Viol looks over the bizarre mask, placing it on his face, trying to understand something better about its nature... and coming up with nothing. He places the mask down.

“Do you at least have a direction we should go to seek some answers?”

Viol crosses his arms, thinking this over. “...May be a long shot. But... perhaps there is some individual old enough to know something on what he’s been planning. The Great Deku Tree, settled deep within the Lost Woods. And if not him... perhaps whoever resides in the Great Sky Temple.”

“I thank you greatly for your help, Viol. Together, we all will stop this Mask Man and save Hyrule!”
