"So tell us, how did you survive?" Mr. Bennet seems interested, picking up a coffee pot from a nearby table and pouring it out into a black mug with the phrase 'coffee.sh' emblazoned on the side in green. "I was in bed when I got the alarm signal that Durandal had been incapacitated- and when I got in here, he was back online and you were alive. I set up the system to do a full scan, but it says Hook vanished."

Taking a sip, he puts down his mug, and Keith asks him, "What is this place? What do you do here? Where did the door come from?"
Sofia releases you from her grip and steps back a bit abashedly.

"One set of questions at a time," Durandal heaves himself away from you and limps to a table not unlike an operating table. He tosses himself onto it and lies on his back, gripping his side to cover it up.

"I guess I'll answer yours, then." Mr. Bennet displays the room, which is a totally white interior, like a laboratory mixed with a workshop. The chair he was sitting in before is connected to a helmet and interface similar to the ones you've seen at conventions for virtual reality, except that he sits back in it like a driver's seat or dentist's chair. In addition to the coffeepot, and the table, there's a workbench for technology, a computer in one corner running a browser you've never seen, and one of the walls is covered with television screens surveying the school. There are two closed doors in the back.

"This is Avalon, a 'safehouse' from the situation you saw earlier. Normally, we don't have people appearing in the Witching Hour, especially not students, but it was decided we needed a safeguard in case something like what happened to you happened. Here, those monsters you saw outside can't enter." He puts the coffee cup down, and then says, "As for the door, I made that. As you might expect, this place isn't like ordinary reality."

The sunglasses-wearing computer teacher asks you, "So how about it? How did you survive?"

>>How did you survive?

>I transformed, just like Durandal does.

Welcome back, your honor. I got bored this week and doodled what I imagine Sofia to look like. I realize the uniform is probably fairly inaccurate and it's a little too anime but I thought I'd share anyway.

(Quick Recap)

Last time, you sold your soul to the devil for the power to fight a super-monster Captain Hook while a guy named Durandal who's definitely not CIA jobbed harder than an anime mentor. This was on your first day of junior year at a prestigious boarding school named Olympia Academy, where you met your new bro Keith and maybe-love-interest Sofia.
The day hasn't been going well for you. Or, depending on your perspective, it's been going fantastic.
Have a sketch of Faust. I'll be posting other sketches I've drawn so far instead of actually related drawings.

Also, just finished up my interpretation of Keith. For some reason I couldn't stop picturing him with this d-bag hairstyle so I decided to just accept it.
Both of these characters were good practice and real fun to draw though, I might take a shot at Durandal in the near future

>I transformed, just like Durandal does

Durandal was not expecting this, but Mr. Bennet is. "I see," he says. "A Myth. They call them different things in different nations, but here in the U.S. you summoned a Myth." He moves to the computer and pulls up an image on the television wall, blocking out the feed.

You see a magician-like figure show up on the screen, a three-dimensional frame of green. "This is Merlin. He's the 'Myth' I transform into when I do what you did. He specializes in long-range information gathering and supporting others. Merlin's main function is to generate and protect Avalon, and ward off those monsters you saw, which we call Curses."

The other two seem excited. Keith walks up to the screen and asks, "Can we summon Myths, too? You know, because we know about the Witching Hour or whatever, too."

Mr. Bennet narrows his eyes at Allan. "Yes, but it's too dangerous for students. Technically, procedure is to wipe your memory of tonight and prevent you from ever entering the Witching Hour again."

Durandal disagrees. "He saved us both- our failure put them in danger. They deserve to know, at least."

Sofia nods. "That's right. If there's something going on at Olympia, it's our responsibility as students to help protect it."

>I'm not letting you wipe my memory. I want to know.

Mr. Bennet reaches into his pocket, then looks around for something and sighs. "Why do I never have that flask when I need it?"

"That's not a no..." Keith points out.

Eventually, the computer teacher relents. "Alright, fine. Maybe it would be nice to have a backup team. But you're not fighting to the death. No way in Hell am I dealing with that. If I think you're in too much danger, I'm porting you out of there- and porting isn't easy, so if I have to port you, you're done for the night. First, however..."
He concentrates, and you see Merlin surround Mr. Bennet. He speaks as he did when you were back in the hallway, directly into your minds.

"Keith, Sofia, I'm going to activate your latent powers. I'm not going to run through your memories, so concentrate on something innocuous, like your favorite food, so I don't have to read any further than that."

After a few seconds, Keith and Sofia both blink heavily, Sofia grasping at her head for a second.
As she does, her eyes suddenly turn red, and she shape-changes slightly into a woman who is wreathed in smoke, in classical Roman dress, her face mostly hidden by the bowl she holds in her hand.
"The Oracle of Delphi? Odd, but not unreasonable."

As for Keith, his awakening comes in the form of a dashing French swordsman carrying a rapier, his face bold, charming, and fearless. The musketeers garments identify him as one of the Three Musketeers. He waves the sword that's summoned to his hand as if he had wielded it all his life.
"D'Artagnan... Didn't see that one coming, I'll admit."

Merlin turns to you, and after a few seconds, he transforms back into Mr. Bennet, who takes off his sunglasses in his confusion. "Incredible. I knew something was up... You can summon multiple Myths, can't you?"

>>You can summon multiple Myths.

>"Aye, matey."
Almost without warning, you concentrate and turn into Captain Hook, setting everyone else in the room on alert. Allan puts his arm in front of Sofia instinctively. Before Durandal can draw a weapon, Mr. Bennet waves him down. "No, wait, it's Read. He's telling the truth."

The computer teacher allows a wide grin to spread across his face. "A few Myth summoners can summon two or three different myths, but never that soon... except for special cases. You seem to be one of them. They're incredibly rare, and with training incredibly powerful."

>I keep them in this book. Do you know what it does?

Once you change back into yourself, you hold out the huge tome strapped to your wrist to Mr. Bennet, who looks it over with some concern. "I've never seen anything like this, though. A book on fairy tales holding Hook and... Faust? I take it that's the Myth you awakened to." He's a little concerned by this, but hands you the book back. "If I had to guess, that book holds all the Myths you can use. I'd take good care of it if I were you. It should hold whatever information on them you need, by what I can tell."

Keith seems a little bummed that you get all the cool powers, and shoves his hands in his pockets.
"Man, what'd you do to get all that?"

Sofia shrugs. "If his Myth says anything, he made a deal with the devil."

Allan shakes his head. "Pft. No way that would happen."

Mr. Bennet looks at Durandal, who is still lying injured, and asks, "Tell you what- you all go back to bed, and tomorrow I show you the basics. You should be able to find me during orientation. I need to help our mutual friend."

Your mind considers the mischievous possibility of sticking around and honing your powers, but part of you suspects Mr. Bennet would catch on and wipe your memories by force, and he was your best source on this place anyways, so it would be best not to piss him off.
You agree with a nod, and the computer teacher is relieved, moving over to Durandal and inspecting his injury before you ask your next questions.

>>1539467
>How does time work in here?
"Oh, well," Mr. Bennet tries to explain, and adjusts his sunglasses. "It's like... Time stops outside, but you feel like it's passing in here. The computer runs off of a cache of internet data- it can't interact in real-time with computers outside of the Witching Hour. You'll get tired in here, for sure."
>>1539470
>How do we leave, exactly?
"Oh, that's relatively easy." He picks up a wrench from the workbench and points at the back wall. "The left door leads in and out of my office cabinet. During the day, it's locked tight, and even if someone else were to open it, they would just find a cabinet. I can 'install' similar passways in your closets, if you're going to commit to this. I'll lead you out- if anyone stops us, I'll say a practical joker locked you guys out."

With that, he opens the door to leave, leading into a tiny, cramped office with a small window looking outside and an underlying smell of coffee and liquor. Sofia scrunches up her nose as she steps through. The time on the clock is 12:01 in the morning.

After Mr. Bennet leads you all out, he opens your doors. You don't run into anyone outside, but a few rooms are still awake.

The next day, Keith awakens you by hammering on your door. You look at the clock. 8:14 AM. You have 46 minutes before the orientation day begins in earnest.

When you speak to Sofia about getting pizza for breakfast, she gives you a silent burn stare, followed by a question.
"And waste the perfectly good meal plan that provides, to my knowledge, a small buffet of properly-prepared breakfast staples on par with a restaurant? They make omelets, for Pete's sake."
Keith smirks. "I lost track of you halfway through that sentence. Let's live on the wild side a little. The fancy breakfast can wait for tomorrow, and I need to catch up with your uncle."
After pausing, Sofia turns to you and gives you a heartbreaking pleading face to try and convince you

You and Sofia look at each other, and seem to come to a quiet understanding. After sharing this impromptu golden moment, you snap out of it and admit that it probably wasn't a good idea.
(Your Charm has increased slightly.)
(You feel as though your relationship with Sofia has improved slightly.)

Keith seems more put-off by the fact that it was relatively easy to convince you otherwise than that you're not going to get pizza. "Sure, lovebirds, let's go to the lame dining hall."
He soon changes his tune when he finds the donuts they had brought in.

---

Sofia has a small omelet and a glass of milk, while Keith stacks his plate with every type of protein in the house he can get without overflowing onto his tray. American and Canadian bacon, pork sausage, eggs, two omelets, and a dozen assorted other things, along with two glasses of chocolate milk.

"Don't wanna risk having to go for seconds," he says, before digging in. "So what was up with last night? After the lights went out, I mean."

"Work on your phrasing," Sofia requests. "That was certainly strange. I thought I was in danger. But... Supernatural phenomena, here? It doesn't make any sense."

Swallowing another sausage whole, Allan snaps his fingers. "Unless this is a school specifically for that. Maybe what they're really scouting out is people who can summon Myths or whatever."

>>Maybe what they're really scouting out is people who can summon Myths or whatever.

It doesn't seem that simple. Something else is going on, for sure. If it were an act, at least two people had to be in on it, and too many things seemed out of place for it all to be acted out. After all, there's no way they could have accounted for you making a deal with the devil... right?

As your gaze drifts across the hall in boredom, it crosses over a recent acquaintance.
Flores, right? She's sitting across from a nerdy-looking girl, and based on Keith's reaction, he recognizes the other girl from a bad experience.
"Sorry, I'm going to take this, dude." He stands up to his full height and carefully moves across to sit next to the Asian girl with an oversize sweater Ruth is talking to. She seems very intimidated by him.

Ruth is not. "Ah, I believe I expected a bad fortune for you, Fortune."

"Fortune, huh?" Allan can barely hide his disdain for the nerdy girl. "Do you know Bruce Stone, by any chance, Miss Fortune?"

The girl with the thin glasses and heavy sweater squirms. "N-No, I don't think so."

Keith eats a strip of bacon. "That's funny, because I recognize your face in my old school paper. After you accused him of taking steroids and got him kicked off the baseball team. Donna Price."

"But-But..." she stutters. "He-he did. He was taking pills. Even though he was just a freshman..."

"Oh, yeah?" Keith's voice gets threatening. "And who told you that?"

Price actually looks a bit guilty, and then says, "I know it was a true source... I'm sorry. I'll call the person who told me about it and tell him to call you. That's what I should have done the first time, but he insisted I not mention him when I wrote that article."

This is satisfactory to Keith, and he goes back to his food. Donna stares at her food guiltily, as if she really didn't like what was going to happen when she followed through on her promise.

"Oh, how interesting. Were you looking closer to Speech, Home Economics, Theater. Computer Studies, Engineering Design, or Creative Writing? They have some unusual foreign languages, too. I believe there's even the opportunity to learn Japanese."
There are a lot of things you can look into, especially at such a well-funded school, so it might not be such a good idea to pick something immediately.
She has her cards, but she's not willing to use them at the moment. "You can't become over-reliant, you know? Even if you trust the cards, you have to make your own decisions."

Donna and Ruth finish their breakfast, and the smaller girl follows the fortune-teller out, making one glance behind at Keith before leaving.
Sofia confronts Allan after she's finished. "Are you quite done making a fool of yourself at every given opportunity?"

"What if it were your friend?" Keith mutters as a weak excuse, obviously defensive.

The bell cuts off further conversation, indicating that the open day has begun. Carrollo shakes her head and begins to walk away. "I suppose I'll see you all at lunch, then."

Allan is disappointed in himself, and nods to you before saying, "Guess it's free study now. I'm gonna check out the sports so I don't screw anything else up."

One day, he was on the short list to Olympia, and the next he's being thrown off the team after the coach yells in his face. We all ran so many laps half the team collapsed. Of course, he denied everything, but he got shipped away to some reform school, and... Apparently they picked me and Donna last year."
He stares at you. "That's part of the reason I have so much friction with this school. I figure I never deserved to be here- and neither does she."

He gives you a weak smile. "Sure, meet you for lunch. Then Sarpino's after school."
Then he walks off towards the baseball field.

---

You make it to the theater, and it's set up as if there were a performance to be had. There are tons of props and costumes out in front, in a gigantic cardboard box for people to pick freely from. Donna is sitting in one of the back chairs, while Ruth is picking and choosing from different hats.

A mischievous-looking middle-aged man slips up besides the small crowd next to the props. "I'm Mike Clain, and I'm the theater teacher. I teach lots of performing arts, but theater is my specialty. I've written a couple of plays, but the one we're going to be performing is a Shakespearian play. Haven't gotten a confirmation, but if it gets approved by the Principal, we'll be doing the Scottish play."

Mike is surprised by your dedication to the tradition, Donna just rolls her eyes and looks away, and Ruth seems to be impressed. When you knock, she opens the door, and places a huge hat with a feather in it on your head.

A few people laugh at this impromptu performance Mr. Clain shrugs.
"Well, that is right. No need to overdo it, though."
(Your Knowledge has increased.)
You spend a bit more time talking to the other people in the theater about the class and plays that are to be performed.

....

Seems like a good place to stop until next week, Sunday at (hopefully) 9PM- it's getting pretty late.
I've got a Twitter at https://twitter.com/Judge_Presiding and an ask.fm at https://twitter.com/Judge_Presiding.
As always, I'll stick around to answer questions.

We're keeping the hat. It will go with our creepy wizard robe. Thanks for running Judge. Might want to just re-use the thread if it's still here, I noticed the last thread still up today and way below the 750 post bump limit. Also a pastebin with our stats and social links on it would be nice.

Yeah, I just figured thread No. 1 would drop off the map way before now, and I was totally wrong. Damn, this board is a lot slower than I expected.
Pastebin will soon.

Wong's threads can stay up for weeks man. This board operates on geological time scales.

Jesus Christ it's at the bottom NOW. Instead of archiving, I'll just bump this thread every so often with sketch updates and any answers to the FM questions I think should go here.
>>
>>1540135
It's still worth archiving early, prevents any weirdness or trolls.
>>
>>1540140
Eh, sure.
Also, as bait for more posts:
Who's best girl so far? Who do you think will be best girl in the long run?
>>
>>1540155
Not a damn clue. Party member tends to have some points by default, and I like Ruth's response to our enthusiasm, but so far there's simply not a lot of screen time going around in general to establish personalities.
>>
>>1540158
Did you think that would stop some people? I jest. Mostly.

Time to bump this thread for tomorrow.

Well that was dumb of me, I forgot how the permasage rules worked. Oh well, gonna archive this and just post it in the next thread too.
>>
>>1561483
Wow this is pretty detailed. Good stuff OP

Yeah, I wanted to get the autism out of the way so that I could focus on running. Also I have the worst memory (like forgetting >>1561514
and that I already archived this thread), so being able to reference things at any time is super useful for me.
I'm going to post social information and stats next. Please wait patiently.
