‘There is no such thing as paranoia. Your worst fears can come true at any moment.’ Day came far too quickly once after you had slain the monsters plaguing the Chinatown park, and with it all kinds of pains and sores that left you almost immobile. That Jiang Shi really did a number on you, but you couldn’t really go to a doctor. ‘Hello doctor, I got my ass whooped by a shape shifting Chinese vampire.’ You could tell how well that would go down. So you simply had to live with letting the priest and his limited medical knowledge and resting the pain away, which could take weeks.

Yeah you can’t bring yourself to do nothing, not only are you feeling antsy trapped on this bed, but you know that you only won that last fight through some lucky info and supplies you found. You need to get stronger, much stronger, or maybe you just need to get smarter…

You have about 2 weeks until you will be completely healed, what should you do to pass the time?

You slip open you backpack to take stock of your items, placing everything you have gathered next to the other items you had left here. You still had your laptop and its charger, some duct tape, your bat, another set of clothes you probably should change into sometime, a few water purifying tablets, and some canned food without a can opener and some bottle water.

Emptying your back pack you bring out what your looting… scavenging had found out of the late hippie’s place. 3 jars of salt you needed to test, a bunch candles, a few match boxes, chalk, a dream catcher, some Asian incense of some kind, and some weird doll thing.

1 Day has passed 13 remain.

Ignoring the dull pains of your body you use your laptop to look into various creatures, making text documents compiling your info and attempting to find as much info on weaknesses and strengths of monsters as possible. You were able to find a good chunk of common monsters you could think of and list all their short comings and dangers of dealing with them, even sorting them by some vague danger level. The level of danger was a bit subjective, had he known about those hopping vampire/zombies earlier you would never have seen one as a major threat, ok you were able to see almost anything as a threat but still.

Now you should be able to recognize most common monsters and know what their weaknesses are.

Despite your best efforts, the words of the book simply seem to slip from your mind the moment you look away. Whispers of paranoia distract you as you attempt to read the powerful scriptures in an attempt to better arm yourself. The words dance away from your tongue as you try to craft the words, speaking was never really a strong suit of yours, much less public speaking. After the 3rd day you finally decide that this is useless and your practice is better suited elsewhere.

Banishment/Enthrallment/entrapment spells should be priority.
>>
>>1541001
You look through the basics of any occult magics you can find online. Most of the stuff didn’t particularly seem… helpful to you. Either their effects were vague, dangerous, or summoned something, or some combination of the 3. On the bright side, you have a vague idea of how to stop some of the effects and even fewer may be a bit helpful, although you are hesitant to attempt them without any practice, but they may be of use later. You even got a basic entrapment spell to work on.

You are finally able to leave your room without assistance of Father Armand which is always nice. Maybe you should see if he has another job for you… Ok maybe you are a bit too excited to break another bone, but you need to get some kind of movement. You used to just pace in your room if you wanted to move, but you couldn’t really do that while injured.

Yeah you would rather not go to Armand right now, you’ll go to him whenever you are ready to get another beating from some monster. With this thought in mind you give a quick farewell and head into the city once more. Only… you have no idea what you really want to do. All you know is that you have your backpack, your dull wooden knife and the book of god.

You should pay a visit to Chinatown, you can find out if those Jiang Shi are gone for good… Also if that part of the city is ok now, you guess that is kind of important too. With your mind made up you set out onto the oriental portion of town.

Maybe that old guy has more stuff that could help you…

>End session

Sorry it’s a short one today. Some minor annoyances came up that are keeping me from continuing.

Will pick back up tomorrow at 3 again.
>>

You stand amongst the crowds of people in the Chinatown area. Apparently you were right about it being fairly popular. Hopefully no more monsters that want to drain these people dry will show up. Maybe if you get enough of a reputation you can repel monsters just by being in the general area… or more likely just get monsters to be more likely to attack you on sight.

It’s probably best not to think of that for now, just focus on the crowds of hundreds of people… that probably have muggers or worse monsters hidden amongst them. You really aren’t making yourself feel any better. You just need to do something to distract yourself.

Vaguely trying to retrace your steps towards the ‘stall’ that gave you the info and stuff that helped you earlier, maybe the guy has more things that could help in your line of work. You make it back to where you believe his shop used to be, but there is nothing there. This is the right place right? Looking around it is a bit hard to tell from the whole load of people crowding the area, but you were sure this was where the guy set up his shop. Did he move it?

Walking to a nearby shop street vendor you ask him about the location of the old man that normally set up shop across the street. The vendor seemed to not know where the guy was either, but said he stopped showing up about 3 days ago.

That is more than a little concerning.

The random pedestrians wandering the street don’t have any idea of who you are talking about and the other stall owners only tell you what you already know. There really isn’t much info on this guy.

You spot a few people that could potentially be monsters you’ve read about, nothing to concrete, but they seem suspicious to you. Well MORE suspicious than normal people to you. There were two particularly odd ones. One little girl who seemed a bit obsessed with a nearby statue, as in petting it and you think talking to it? Like she was talking to an animal of some sort, trying to soothe it, tame it maybe? The other was just some guy who just seemed the normal kind of suspicious, black hoodie up in middle of summer during the day, all he needs is some ice tea and some skittles and he’d be even more suspicious. What really caught your eye is how much he seemed to be eyeing you. Sizing you up like he felt something coming off you. Monsters sense emotional energy, he might have picked up on yours.

You keep your distance to the hoodie wearing guy, from what you can tell you think he is a bit older than you, or at least taller. You are able to subtly keep an eye on him as he in turn watches you, and he is definitely keeping an eye on you. To test your theory you begin to head down a few blocks to find the guy still following you amongst the crowds.

You decide it is time to put an end to this charade. Eyes on your target you make your way through the crowd towards your shadow. His response is immediate; a break neck dash away as he realizes his cover was blown. Well if that isn’t suspicious you don’t know what is.

You give chase, or you would have before you trip on your own feet and fall face first into concrete. Nice. Well at least you aren’t dead. By the time you get your bearings the slippery fellow is long gone, lost in the crowd. So much for confronting him, but now that you think of the monsters you read about you think you may have an idea what he is. Possibly a vampire? Not a Chinese one that’s for sure, not enough hopping for that. He was wearing clothing that would obscure him from sunlight, but that could just be him trying to hide himself.

There is still a possibility he might be something completely else, but you are fairly sure he is a vampire. Thankfully you have a wood knife if he comes back. Although you doubt he will, but it is always better safe than sorry. Another concerning thought is what if he has friends…

You are fairly sure the monsters in your apartment building were colluding, and they were all kinds of monsters. Who’s to say this isn’t just some scout looking for you, that another group of monsters want you for your larger than normal emotional energy. It might even be someone from your old apartment that you never bothered to meet, or a group looking for the murderer of several monsters. Suddenly you feel distinctly like there are far more eyes on you than you originally thought. Your mind begins to come up with wilder and wilder potential threats. Each more terrifying than the last-

This isn’t helping, you sitting here just worrying and probably giving off enough fear to be a light house in this fog of people. You need to go back to the church, now.

>End session

Will stick around for any questions, comments, etc.
