I know qst is slow, especially at this time of day, so I'll leave voting open for quite some time.

Here is how that works: people decide which of the free slots they wanna continue, Tublat or the open new game.

If there's a tie, we play Tublat.

If nobody votes, which is entirely possible at this time of day, we play Tublat.

If new game gets more vote, we start a new character.

Hm.
I don't even know. I'd be up for continuing Tublat's story, but I'm also not averse to starting a new one.
Someone vote for me please.

It's raining in Cybercity. It feels like it's always raining, just as it feels like the power to the little one room flat at the base of one of the old apartment towers in Eden Park is always cut for one reason or another.

The streets are filthy, the wet asphalt bathed in neon coloured advertisements for sex and alcohol. It's a morning like any other, and it's miserable.

"This city is a festering growth, and its inhabitants are the bile that fills it. Whores, murderers, politicians. They keep us sedated with booze and sex, but we're decaying as the bile accrues.
The city makes us all into sinners. Kill a man to earn your salary. Get yourself a tuna sandwich, forget about it in a pleasure pallor.
Rain washes it away."

you arrive at the armoured doors of Yuland Weytani Cyber Tech Research Co. Your shift starts in an hour officially, but the company enforces strict personal overtime standarts for all their employees.

In front of the gate you see somebody in the clothes of a Yuland scientist who waves at you as you approach.

As the veil of rain parts, you recognize the woman as Doctor Min, one of the senior scientists in inner sector of Yuland-Weytani

"I've been waiting for you, I have..." she trails off as the part of her face that still emotes takes on a puzzled look.

"Do I have something in my hair? What are you looking at?"

She turns to check if there's something behind her just over her head that you're staring at. Seemingly deciding to drop it, she returns to what she had been saying before:

"I need your help. I think there's been an accident."

If you want you can roll a 1d100 + your smarts (+20) against her smarts (+50) to see if she's lying. Rolling works with 2d100s, the first decides which roll is taken, the second one has to beat mine.

The cooling tower (or rather cooling pit) surrounds a set of large steel tanks the base of which is to be found somewhere in the darkness of the pit.

There is no ladder or elevator, as this area is maintained mostly by automated drones, as is the case with most of the inner sector. Somewhere down there, Min assures you, her friend is waiting for help

Your job requires you to carry a torch, so that's not a problem.

In regards to a rope, you have the Yuland-Weytani-Breaching-Belt TM with inbuilt grappling hook at your disposal.

you hook up and descend down the wall. as you get closer to the bottom of the pit, the uneven light of the torch illuminates something that looks like a large, dark stain on the ground.

>Investigate the stain
The obvious assumption is that this is our guy, but clothes don't get turned into stains by falling, so if there's none here, this must be something else.
Another thing - where's all the coolant? How does this pit work in general?
>>
File: smear.png (696 KB, 1940x1728)

>>1626408
You shine your light at the stain, and it seems to be some blackish dried liquid, roughly in the shape of a... person.

You hear a metallic noise somewhere in the dsitance above you.

The cooling pit is not in use currently. It's used by having cooling liquid pumped in and out of it constantly, ingulfing the tanks and keeping the temperature in it at extremely low temperatures.
