Refuge was slowly healing but remnants of their recent plight still linger.

Junkyard and portions of Scatters still held packs of wild undead, ghouls leading the zombies as they hid and hunted. Without the controlling mind of the necromancer they lost much of their danger but still deadly to the surprised and unprepared. They began to hide, setting ambushes for the Legionnaires and locals that volunteered to help with the exterminations, zombies emerging from the shadows to attack in groups as the higher evolved ghouls stalk from the darkness to pick off stragglers.

On Scatters a squad of Legionnaires was just finishing clearing out a moderate town with one of the few fresh water wells on the continent with the assistance of the locals. They were herding or baiting the undead out into the open to bring them down under a hail of weaponsfire or under a barrage of blades and clubs. Despite their caution and the skills of the Legion there were some that were wounded by the undead and brought to the command point at the towns edge protected behind a temp palisade where a medical tent flapped gently in the breeze.

A ghoul had managed to take a bite out of the arm of a kesh local and they sat with a vorh Necrolyte medic who quickly cleans the wound and injects a serum to delay the Blight Hunger until they could reach a med-pod for a full cure. After bandaging the wound the vorh patted them on the shoulder and stood to move onto the next subject when they were confronted by a nervous looking human who glances around the tent. Minus a few scratches they seemed no worse for the wear despite their dirty clothing marking them as a local and the vorh approaches in concern.

"Are you injured?" she questions, keen eyes glancing over them as they wipe their hands clean.

The human silently shakes their head and reaches into a pocket of their coverall, making the Necrolyte tense and her hand dart to the grip of the necroflenser at her belt but the human pulled out a nondescript datastick and holds it out to her. They kept her hand on her gun while looking at the human suspiciously until he finally spoke, "Take it, this needs to get to your commander," he glances around suspiciously but the only ones paying him any mind were the vorh and a pair of Legionnaires who held their bone rifles tight, ready to intervene.

Cautiously the medic reaches out and plucks the datastick from them and the human lets out a small sigh of relief, "I was paid to make sure this gets to someone in the Legion, told to give this to one of you to get to your leaders," he hesitates the says in a hushed voice, "To Lord Jadyk specifically."

Glancing at the datastick then the human the vorh tilts her head, "Do you know who or why?"

They shake their head, "Don't know. One of the Confederates who brought the food."

Nodding the medic pats the human on the shoulder, "Thank you. I'll make sure it reaches them."

The human smiles nervously and nods before excusing themselves.

Within the Solar Shrine the airless chamber was sweltering with the flames that roiled off the bodies of Valresko and yourself, the very surface of the Cauldron's biomass seemingly ignited as well. The solar flames flowed like liquid around you, burning tide that once would have easily destroyed or heavily weakened you, now suffusing your bones and finding a harmony of sorts between the powers Necrotic and Void within you.

Finally you stand, pulling the end of Kyn'tk from the Cauldron and float back to watch. Valresko mimics you a few moments later, pulling his hands free, moving to your side and watching the Cauldron expectantly. There were several minutes of silence as the liquid flames roil and bubble across the Cauldrons surface until a white armored hand suddenly bursts from the biomass and clutches the side of the Cauldron.

Hauling herself out the newly formed Solar Disciple rises to her feet, perched on the edge of the Cauldrons lip. Similar in form to Valresko, although slightly shorter and leaner, the Disciples eyeless gaze turns across the room, glancing to the excited Valresko then to you. Clad in pale bone armor that lacked the radiance of Valresko, Solar flames leaking from the creases in her armor and from the gaps in her underslung jaw. Stepping forward her bladed tail lashes behind her and she kneels before you both.

Valresko reaches out, placing a hand on her shoulder, "Arise, my Disciple. Arise and join us."

They rise to their feet, saluting with a heavy fist thumping against her chest, flames flickering from her mouth as she spoke, "My flames are yours. I will burn our enemies to ash and cinder upon your orders."

You clack your teeth, nodding in satisfaction, "The Armada is stronger with your creation. I expect great things of you," you say and the Disciple bows low before you.

>+1 Solar Disciple
>>
>>1651651
Departing from the Solar Shrine to allow Valresko and his new Disciple time to adjust you were immediately ambushed by an onslaught of messages from the Deep Rot.

One of Muic's Think Tanks managed to establish a connection with it as the strange new robotic enemies attacked but was abruptly cut off with a message that the Ahkam prisoner had broken free. Checking the rescue fleets progress you see it was rapidly nearing the Throne system within a few short hours. Knowing there was little you could do until the fleet arrived you look to the other alerts that had piled up in your short absence.

A Think Tank on Scatters tells you of the datastick that the medic had been given, saying they were ready to decode the encryption upon your order and you do so. The intelligent construct quickly slots the stick into itself and begins unraveling the protections hiding the data within saying it would contact you quickly once it was completed although it also remarks the encryption was oddly complex for such a simple device.

Of less urgent note, you see that the serpents Cve'jok and Dne'tec were near arrival in Horizon's Drop. Despite Vle'Karaks newfound loyalty you have a multitude of Dirges prepared to keep watch over the younger pair.

As you reclaim your nearby Throne you notice a short notice from the Blackscale concerning their meeting with the other Cabal and as you drift through the passages of the moon you look in on their gathering.
>>
>>1651760
With their appetites sated the remnants of the feast were swept away by attendant Worker zombies to leave the table between them bare.

Picking at their teeth with a claw one of them speaks, "A fine feast you prepared for us."

The other nods, "Haven't eaten that well in some time," they say with a hissing chuckle.

Raakah bods her head with a wide grin, "We are glad you enjoyed it. The food was collected from a multitude of different worlds."

"Although I doubt you called us merely to eat all our food," Beqor says sternly.

The other two look at him, trying to determine his mood until his facade cracks and he chuckles, the others letting out laughs as well.

"No, that was an unexpected bonus for meeting with you," one says with a laugh then leans forward over the table, propping herself up with an elbow, "In all seriousness though. We have a proposition for your Cabal."

The other nods, "A mutually beneficial proposition that will benefit both our cabals greatly."

Beqor reclines in their chair as they digest their meal, motioning for them to continue, "Speak your proposition."

The newcomers glance at each other before the male speaks, "We are uncertain if you have paid much attention to the Confederacy lately, but they are under pressure from our...cousins," they say with a hiss.

Raakah nods, "Sunscale ships have attacked them in recent weeks," she squints, "Your doing?"

They laugh and shake their head, the female speaking, "Nay. False flag operations against our cousins are notoriously difficult as you know," Beqor and Raakah nod, "We investigated and we believe that the Confederacy has done something most heinous against them," she says with barely contained amusement.

The other flashes a toothy grin of crooked teeth, "From what we gathered, the Confeds somehow found and raided a nesting site."

This gained Raakah's and Beqors attention quickly but the female speaks before they could, "We think we have tracked down where they have taken them. Took a while and many bribes. Officially, whoever took the clutch aren't Confederates but our spies believe they were paid by them to do so. From what we've gathered from our spies and interrogations, is while it may be Confederate money behind it, they were taken to an unaffiliated facility for "plausible deniability". You know how much the Confederation loves those two words."

Raakah taps her claws against the table a few times in thought, "A clutch of untouched eggs would be incredibly valuable to us," she says glancing at Beqor who only nods before the looked to the others, "You require our aid in claiming the clutch? A split of their numbers perhaps?"

>cont
>>
>>1651830
The new Blackscale glance at each other then the male shrugs, "If you want to be unsubtle about it, yes. A clutch, even half, would be a great boon for both our cabals. We would prefer to claim them before the Sunscale can track them down and from what our spies say, they are getting close."

"Is it in this sector?" Beqor asks.

They lean in and whisper briefly to each other before the female nods, "Yes, hidden in a system in the Curou sector. You understand why we do not reveal which right now."

Raakah nods, "Naturally," she says with a glance over their shoulder to where the Harbinger was hidden.

"If they are mercs, could we not outbid them?" Beqor questions.

They glance at each other for a moment before the male shrugs, "Perhaps. Approaching them with an offer though may tip off the Confederates and force them to relocate."

"Our thought was for an assault on the facility, but we could attempt bribery first and use brute force as a back-up if and when they decide not to deal with us," the female says, her forked tail curling up into her lap, "My suspicion is these mercs are indeed Confederates themselves and only pretending to be neutral."

"Either way, this could work. Purchasing them would avoid unnecessary casualties to our ranks, and if they refuse to sell," the male gives a shrug then flashes his toothy smile once more, "I doubt they would be able to stop our combined forces from taking what we wish."

The female necromancer leans forward, "We should try your idea of purchasing. If they refuse or turn out to be Confederates themselves, well, we gave them a chance," she says with a dark chuckle.

"Seems to be an acceptable proposition," you say.

Raakah gives a slight nod as she hears your words through the earpiece they'd hidden in their ear canals then looks to the others, "This seems to be an acceptable proposition. When shall we make our bid?"

The male looks up at the painted ceiling in thought for a few moments, "A solar day or two to gather the funds then another so we can group up."

Beqor nods, "Very well, we shall gather our own funds soon."

The basics of their plan set they begin to chat among themselves, sharing stories of close calls at the hands of the Sunscale, their Deepborn, or any other faction that may dislike them, which was honestly quite a few.

In order to stay in contact Beqor shares the information to contact the sub-space communications relay in the Horizon's Drop system, the other Cabal saying they had recently "acquired" a relay of their own. Both Cabals agree that the use of such relays must be a temporary thing to prevent one side from betraying the others in case of their capture at the claws of the Deepborn who have an eerie talent for making even the tight-lipped Blackscale reveal their secrets.

The Andai system was becoming one of the most developed systems of the Armada, building upon and enhancing the infrastructure that the Confederation had left behind. Clour and its orbital platform, now simply called The Station by the Think Tanks and Legionnaires, had a decent picket fleet in orbit even with most of its warships of the Armada directed to protect the still vulnerable B'Nan system or repurposed for Ruscuv's strike fleet.

On the surface of the arid world, far from the equator where most of the Reconstructed presence worked hard to expand their mining operations, a single Battletomb glided across hardpacked earth sending the occasional native lifeform scrambling for cover as the rumbling vehicle passed overhead. A handful of Gargoyles floated on the cool breeze in the night sky as they helped survey the mostly flat landscape for potential mining sites. Spotting a ridge of stone that seemed to breach from the surface of the earth the group turns toward it.

As the vehicle set down and began to deploy it's cargo of Talons, Stingers and Cyclops to inspect the area the Gargoyles continue their aerial patrol. They watched the Reconstructed below picking through boulders or setting up devices to drill for ore samples. This process, and dozens like it taking place across the Armada space, was left to the Think Tanks oversee.

One of the Gargoyles felt a sudden burst of turbulence that made them flap hard to maintain their altitude and the other flying Reconstructed glance over. They look on in confusion for several moments as the wind seems to become rough in a localized patch and they stare hard at it with their keen eyes until a distortion in the air causes them to let out trilling sounds of alarm as they recognize the distortion.

A moment later the pocket of twisted light and cancelled out sound is dropped, the shape of an unknown sub-capital hovering over the Battletomb by less than a hundred feet. The Battletomb quickly rises above the ground and attempts to accelerate but a turret on the underside of the frigate rotates and its four barrels unleash particle bolts that strike its armor.

>cont
>>
>>1652668
The Battletomb was heavily armored but the ship-based weapons were meant to take out the hulls of starships, the armor of the battletomb providing a few moments protection as its own turret swivels around and lances the underside of the ship with its Necrotic Flayer. Another turret of the frigate swivels and unleashes its assault quickly punching through the vehicles armor causing it to detonate in a ball of flame that nearly licks the underside of the vessel.

The ground-based troops, only a dozen or so Reconstructed, watch from their hiding spots behind boulders as the frigate lowers further as a cargo door slides open along its underside. From within a single dropsuit leaps out to land in a small crater that was followed by an assortment of armored troops. The dropsuit marches over to the burning Battletomb, likely insuring its destruction.

Among their number a tall Kosda in heavy armor pulls a heavy cigar from their lips and pointed toward the ridge where the Reconstructed hid, "Alright, we ain' got much time. Round up as many as you can and let's get off this barren rock. Remember, they gotta be truly dead before they go on my ship," they bark out their orders and the motley assortment of aliens march forward with their weapons at the ready. The kosda glances at the shorter human standing by their side, the gargoyles alarmed by the robes they wore, "The pay-out better be worth it."

The human nods, their bald scalp tattooed with indistinct markings at this range but they glance up, locking their bloodshot eyes on a Gargoyle saying meters above them. With a single smooth motion they pull the blaster from their hip and unleash a bolt of crackling green energy that strike the Gargoyle and in the moment before it's mind winks out the Think Tanks recognize the blaster as being very similar to a necroflensers discharge, "Have they never not paid us well?"

The Kosda laughs and watches as their troops begin exchanging fire with the Reconstructed, "Ya got a point there."

Facing a force roughly equal in number and cut off from reinforcements the Reconstructed ducked behind boulders and rocks as the attackers begin firing in their direction, bullets and blaster bolts chipping away at the stone. A Stinger peaks its head up and unleashes several bursts from its shardspitter, the flechettes striking in the chest what may have been a human, vorh, or kesh under the full helm, before it's skull caves in with a cloud of pulverized bone and metal.

The Think Tank assigned to assisting them sends out alerts for any nearby forces to react but this survey team had been far removed from the centers of Reconstructed. The closest were several Nails and Coffins racing across the upper atmosphere as sub-capitals moved in orbit attempted to block off its escape but the strikecraft were still many minutes away.

One of the unknown troopers ignites a hardlight shield from its forearm and leaps up to the top of a boulder with its jump-pack only to be met with a barrage of slugs nearly sending it falling backwards from the force striking its shield. It finally falls though when it's helm shatters with a splatter of red and gray gore from a Cyclops spinecaster drilling through their face.

There was a shout of anger from the other living troops and they rush forward, emboldened by the death of their friend. A trio of heavily armored netu and osjiic charge the ridge, their nonhardlight shields extending as they rushed into combat. A Talon leaps over a boulder, its sting whip leaping out to bury itself in the neck of an osjiic and the tense cord of muscle and sinew flexes, pulling the undead rapidly at its target. Thermal glowing claws slash and tear at the dark armor and the soldier screams out in pain as black blood begins to coat the undeads face and forearms as they tear at the weak joints at the armors neck. The Reconstructed fights with a near mindless fury, aiming to mutilate their target only for their simple mind to wink out as the osjiics netu ally chops at its neck and back with its curved vibroswrod, removing its head with three strikes.

As the unknown attackers surrounded and engaged the hiding undead the dropsuit keeps back, its sensors sweeping across the area. Finally it lifts a long arm and with a screech a small rocket leaps out, arcing over the battlefield to strike a cyclops that had been attempting to hide in the crevasse of a large boulder and taking potshots at the troops.

The last remaining Stingers and Cyclops hunkered down between several large boulders, their bone shields propped up in the gaps as they fired at their attackers. The tall kosda and robed human approaches the battlefield, the necrotic blaster reholstered at their hip, watching the battle and they mutter, "Persistent."

The kosda chuckles, idly checking the flamer attached to their forearm, "Could say that of most undead, y'know."

>cont
>>
>>1653105
The human glances at them then back to where the remaining undead had holed up, the attackers quickly scooping up the remains of the dead Reconstructed and placing them into large crates that had been dropped down with them, "I'd like to get at least one intact," they say mostly to themselves then thrust out a hand suddenly.

The Reconstructed hidden within the pile of boulders let out shouts of alarm as the largest boulder protecting them, half the size of the Battletomb, was dragged away from them suddenly as the human grimaces in concentration, blood starting to leak from their nose as they telekinetically move the boulder. The attackers wasted no time in firing at the exposed undead who, to their credit, attempted to retaliate and do manage to take down two more of the attackers, both shouting in pain as the necrotically infused flechettes and slugs decayed the flesh around the wounds.

The human, now clearly a necromancer, thrust their hand out once more and a single Stinger was plucked from its feet and dragged through the air. Swinging its arm it aims its shardspitter and fires a spray of flechettes but the kosdan mercenary stepped in front of the barrage with a hardlight shield projected from its own arm then swung its vibroaxe, the blade carving through both weapon and arm with a spray of sparks and broken chitin.

Disarmed the Stinger struggles against its unseen bond even as the rest of its Reconstructed allies were slaughtered. The necromancer draws the undead close, pulling from its robes a long spike of twisted metal. Merely holding it out in front of them the Reconstructed was pulled onto the spike as it pierces its neck and barks out a few words in an ancient language you recognize from the old Armada and your mind is shunted from the Stinger.

From the remaining Gargoyles in the air you watch in a building fury as the Stinger is set down and stands there swaying gently. The human barks a command and the Stinger doesn't move, forcing the human to frown then nod to one of the others who moves over and picks up the motionless undead, slinging it over the shoulder along with the corpse of a headless Talon and begins to jog to the landing ship.

Whoever these attackers were, they moved quickly, hardly needing the kosda or necromancer to command them as they scooped up the largest remains of the Reconstructed and hustled to board their frigate. The dropsuit bounds over and up the ramp as well, leaving the kosda and necromancer still on the ground.

"Better get outta here. Pilots already saying we have incoming and a blockade forming," the Kosda says after pressing a finger to the side of their head.

The necromancer nods and locks eyes with one of the Gargoyles above, "We have what they wanted. Time to vacate indeed," they say then grin up at the Reconstructed, flashing teeth that had been filed down into points before they turn and board the ship with the kosda.

The remaining Gargoyles circled the frigate as it lingered for several moments then began to ascend and wrap itself in a bubble of distorted light and sound, disappearing from view and hearing. Their trilling calls of dismay fill the air, the Gargoyles simple minds filled with despair in the aftermath of the sudden assault.

Without the confines of an atmosphere a handful of corvettes surrounding a light cruiser manage to race their way around the planet toward escaping vessel. Their grav-sensors, still not yet upgraded from the recent zaeen dissection, could not lock on to the stealthed starship and they spread themselves out as the rest of the system goes onto alert, knowing that most stealth fields must fall to enter FTL.

The pilots and Think Tanks of the Armada ships could feel your furious presence watching through them and they do everything they could to track down their quarry. You almost begin to suspect they had eluded you fully when a pilot Reconstructed merged into its console highlights a momentary gravitational fluctuation that was typically seen near a planet and an instant later the darkness of space was pierced as a finger of green light leaps out seemingly without a target. A moment later and the beam strikes empty space and a few seconds later the dark hulled ship was revealed near the outer edge of their blockade net.

A barrage of weaponsfire was unleashed from the Armada ships turrets as they rotate to bring the vessel in line with their spinal and fixed guns. Necroflener bolts, massively oversized compared to the handheld version, streak across the void to strike the hull of the frigate or pass by harmlessly. Its own weapons swing to life, auxiliary repeater cannons shooting down the incoming flight of missiles aimed for their engines as turrets open fire with their particle beams as it accelerates away rapidly.

More of the necrotic bolts strike the ship melting away portions of its hull, the frigate forgoing shielding in favor of its stealth cloak meaning it was left nearly unprotected from the assault. A missile manages to hit one of its three glowing engines and detonates, splattering it with caustic liquid that begins to burn even in the airless environment as it uses the metal of the engines as its fuel. The engine flickers out and the vessel's acceleration slows but it continues on its mad dash away from the blockade.

>cont

>>1653402
Just as the light cruiser was lining up its spinal cannons and the Think Tanks orders it to fire, a small rip into Sub-Space is torn in front of the escaping frigate. As the tear in space passes over the frigate the kinetic round of a corvette strikes its side, plainly venting atmosphere from near its engines as a cloud of rapidly freezing oxygen and liquid were expelled. Yet even that could not prevent the Sub-Space tear from passing over it completely and sealing with a burst of radiation.

Lightyears away in Horizon's Drops moon you shout in anger, slamming your fist hard enough against the armrest of your stone throne to crack it and your chitin armor as your voice echoes down the tunnels causing many Reconstructed to either flinch or let out their own shouts of dismay.

The information of the datapacket was "quite intriguing" as the Deep Rot put it as they display it for you.

There were several files, one a text file labled "Read", a set of coordinates in a neighboring sector, and what appeared to be partial blueprints.

Projecting the message it reads;

Lord Jadyk, forgive the secrecy required to deliver this information to you. If I had the choice I would have given this to your personally but for both of our sakes I must remain hidden. The Confederation fears you and believes you to be a threat to us all. This may be the case, but in their fear they have begun seeking out those that were once ignored or imprisoned and using their knowledge in attempts to gain weapons to either protect from you or use on you. While I supported these efforts at first, I have come to learn the price our search for safety has come with. A price I cannot abide. You told our diplomats that your aim is to make amends for the past sins of the Armada. If this statement is true, I want you to make sure the Confederation does not make their own sins in misguided attempts.

Enclosed is information for a facility that High Command has created and hidden, one of many I am learning, to study the undead and ways to combat them. I cannot control what you do with this information but I only request that you do your best to keep, whatever your response is, discreet.

Good luck.

Sure enough the blueprints detailed the outer perimeter and location of sensors and defenses for a facility built into a mountain, much like the one you discovered in the Urdir system and Legions Home. The blueprints did not show much more than the first two floors where several elevators were clearly marked descending into unlabeled levels. The coordinates were for a star system with only two planets and no known colonies, both worlds hard and unfriendly from what the Deep Rot can recall from its datastores.

There was a single word that caught your attention, a word hidden among a list of project names that you recalled from the old Armada.

Every system that has an Eyegore in it is staying on high alert keeping their many eyes out for the escaped ship. Unfortunately, predicting where a Warp Drive ship will emerge from Sub-Space is an astronomical feat that makes the Deep Rot cry non-existent tears.

The only information it can glean is its trajectory which was firmly in the direction of the Confederate worlds

So here's a suggestion

Why don't we make a bunch of reconstructed that are sunscale in shape with a thin living skin coating of cloned flesh to make them appear to be the real deal, equip the bodies with a solar detonator to clean up any undead remains when they die

As the black scale said plausible deniability
>>
Plainclothes side project anyone else want to make a bunch or Arkham clones to reconstruct and fit with necrotic cores

Utter nightmare fuel to unleash as a surprise on the matriarch and her followers when they attack
>>
>>1657602
Given that sunscale don't normally blow up when they die, I'm not sure what this accomplishes. As soon as it happens the deception is revealed, if not the source. Maybe I don't get your intended goal.

>>1657609
If we're going for blasphemous nightmare fuel, zombified/undead Ahkam might be better. But I think we've already got one better than that happening soon - living and reputable Ahkam denouncing the Dynasties.

It's also too late to pull off any new or large-scale projects before the attack. From the last thread:

> She will be here very soon, within a solar day or two at most.
>>
>>1657766
Flash clones the abnormalities and deformities would work for our goal of something horrific yet still clearly identifiable as once being an Arkham

As for exploding sunscale, re-read Nekriss assault on the beach's of Rukor, diver hits a sun emblem on his cheats before he can be captured exploding in a flash of solar energy taking out nearby constructed with him, same with their shit and landing platform.

Technically, with having their DNA and, honestly, quite a few drained Ahkam corpses along with living samples, you do have the blueprints necessary to create a Reconstructed version of the Ahkam.

The topic just never came up since all the living prisoners were slated for Hero Reconstruction and then their bonus to Arc research.

When the thread resumes tomorrow we'll have a vote on creating giant snake Reconstructed

Good point, I'd forgotten that. I thought the self-destruction only happened when attempting to use their corpses for reconstruction without Blackscale help.

And I could get on board with a reconstructed version of an Ahkam. What I'm concerned about is simultaneously going with an Ahkam body horror approach and welcoming Ahkam to our side to a new and glorious purpose outside the Dynasties. We're not against the Ahkam as a species in general anymore. Imagine if this were our approach to human empires.

> Join us humans and be free from neglect and oppression and pointless wars! BTW we're sending horrific mockeries of the human form your way to kill everyone who doesn't join us, kthxbye
>>
>>1658108
Well to be honest talons are kind of groceries of the human form only made into something purely for instilling terror and death to the living

There is no chance we could convince the matriarch to surrender/turn to our side
Dominion shards and collars would be useless I'm sure due to bits size and power plays we don't have time to clone.proper arkham this is meant as a shock and demoralize the enemy/ anger weaken the matriarch

I don't know how I feel about having the allied Arkham fight against the matriarch so soon since two of them are her children?

Besides we are the father of monsters and these are clones of the matriarch children so technically they would be undead bastards abominations fitted with necrotic cores. Might also be a goo was to reinforce the the captured arkham just what we can do with them if they decide to turn against us

You know, my soft spot for Vle'Karak was making me just think about the Ahkam. What about all their subjects?

There's all the Ahkam subjects to win to our side, and the key point there is exposing the Ahkam Dynasties' claims of godhood as lies.

The arkham abominations could work as making Vlekarrak a example to aim for "join us and behold the height you can reach (Vlekarrak as an immortal posing on a pedestal) or cling to your morbid obsession with being treated like a God and be judged accordingly (show case Arkham abomination)

Project: Draugr

You recall this word from the old Armada, the title of an undead Admiral you never had the chance to personally meet as your respective battlefields never overlapped. Regrettably over the ages you do not recall their patron, or if they even had one to serve in the Undying Court. There were of course the independent undead that rose to power great enough to attract the attention of the Court even without a sponsor as you or Ghul had.

Already an Eyegore, awaiting its orders after its gravity sensors were upgraded, was being sent to the lonely system identified in the message, wrapping itself in a bubble of distorted space-time as it disappears into the cosmic distance at impossible speeds.

You drum you claws along the cracked armrest of your throne in thought as you reread the secretive message. A Think Tank assigned to the sub-space communications relay sends a small message stating that there was yet another message from the Confederacy using the frequency you had given their diplomats. This time there was a presence on the other end of the message, requesting a personal audience.

As you debated speaking with the Confederate you are alerted as a flash of Arclight bursts to reveal the newly arrived battlecruiser transporting Cve'jok and Dne'tec from Rukors moon. The capital ship descends toward the cluster of biodomes that Vle'Karak had been spending his days.

>The Ahkam Cve'jok and Dne'tec have arrived to listen to Vle'Karak's proposal

I am certain most would just pretended they didnt act like retards, but my mother didnt raise a bitch made barbarian, I am atleast civil enough to apologize and man up to my retardation.

Graves keep on tellin your stories, I only ask that you please give the players a touch more freedom, give us the chance to shine tactically through more write ins and discussing courses of action. I feel like the players here on qst are not the tactical groganards we had on TG. So giving us a bit more freedom with our tactical maneuvers would be extremely awesome to see, its what kept me drawn to that slow typing guy's House and Dominion.

Keeping a nonexistent eye on the process of transporting the Ahkam captives to meet with their betrayer kin you have a flat holoscreen projected before you. After several moments of delay as the relays adjust for the time dilation the screen flickers and then you see who it was that had called you.

"Sub-Admiral Benvatte," you say with genuine surprise as the stern human looks at you from what appears to be an office, the distortion from the sub-space communications making the image indistinct.

"It's actually Admiral now, Lord Jadyk," he says and sure enough the holoscreen barely manages to display new markings on his uniform.

"Congratulations on your promotion," you say with a nod to the human who gives a curt nod of their own, "Why have you called me, Admiral?" barely finding the will to hide your anger at the nercenaries attack so shortly before.

They glance down at something on their desk for a moment before clearing their throat, obviously not relishing speaking with you, "First of all, I am to pass along from High Command and the Senate, something of an unofficial compliment in regards to your efforts in the Refuge system," he pauses for a moment, "They are grateful you have taken it upon yourself to assist them in rebuilding after handling the...infection," he says begrudgingly.

You nearly comment on the fact that their situation was so dire because of their negligence but restrain yourself for the moment, "I assume this is not the only reason you have contacted me, Admiral. I am a busy Lich, what do you wish to converse about?"

They frown for a moment then look down, tapping at something and a series of photos replaces him. The images were of a star system but zoomed in on a moon to show a massive cloud appear then unleash a very large fleet of Ahkam vessels. They flip through in a slideshow as Benvatte speaks, "High Command felt you deserved to know. An Ahkam invasion fleet is en route for this sector. These images were taken earlier this solar day from one of our satellites in the neighboring Riss sector," the slides change several times until from the lingering cloud a massive white serpent emerges between the numerous capital ships, vibrant Arclight making their form blurred and distorted but there was no mistaking the sight of a Matriarch, "Our strategists believe either the local Empire systems are their target, the Osjiic long at war with the Vrix Dynsasty in this sector."

The images are replaced once more with Benvatte in his office, his face grim, "Or your systems and due to arrive in the Curou sector within the next solar day by our estimations. We have seen your recent...foray against the Ahkam and believe this is likely their response," he hesitates a moment then adds, likely very begrudgingly, "Your assault against the Tura system was...impressive."

I have a somewhat risky plan, what if we mention the word Draugr. See if we can get a reaction from the Admiral or some kind of movement in the system identified in the message. Its has the risk of tipping them off but they might lead us right to the place we are looking. Thoughts?

No worries friend. Everyone gets wrapped up and emotional about a story they enjoy

And you're right, giving more player independence and influence is something I really need to work on.

>On a side note is it possible to produce FTL interdiction capable ships and or inhibitors?
Well vessels equipped with the Reality Beacon like the Mirrorsoul Battleships can hinder the Warp Drive, requiring a much longer charging rate in order to tear open a rip into Sub-Space. It's also a common tactic for the Armada to target the engines with missiles or crit crawls to prevent FTL escape

But so far, there is no known way to rip a ship out of FTL, at least to your knowledge

Mentioning Draugr would make them prepare for our counter-ops more than it would deter them from trying similar ops in the future. It would also jeopardize our informant more than necessary. If they're going to find out that we know, it should be when we actually do something that would be a deterrent.

We can still deny knowledge of Zekrul so far, and bringing it up and having done nothing to curb Zekrul makes us seem complicit in the destruction of the colony.

Zekrul is actually a thorny problem. He's obviously already committed assaults against the Confederacy, and if we have to either make him part of the Armada or make him officially not associated with us, at the very least. If he becomes part of the Armada, it might make us essentially inherit Zekrul's offenses against the Confederacy. Someone will probably ask for reparations.

"If I may ask, why do you share this information?" you ask while drumming your claws along the armrest.

He frowns slightly before clearing his throat, "I have made it clear I do not trust you, Lord Jadyk. Despite your...philanthropy concerning the populace of Refuge, I still believe you are a threat," he seems to adjust something on his desk for a moment then looks back to you, "Despite my misgivings, you have not been overtly aggressive to us. In comparison to the Vrix Dynasty, you have been almost...friendly," he says with obvious distaste but continues, "I know this may be blunt and somewhat rude but I believe your Armada can be a valuable buffer between the Confederacy and the Ahkam, at least in this sector."

"Enemy of my enemy," you say with a slight nod

"Our factions will never be allied, but perhaps we can be," he pauses a moment to think of the proper term, "Cordial when it comes to our mutual foes."

With a small chuckle you nod once more, "I suppose we could be that. Again, I thank your for the intel."

Ask about the news that Sunscales have been attacking them.Rumors travel fast, especially interesting ones.Dont mention anything related to the necrotic, just the situation in general.

On an unrelated note,an idea I had is to try to get the Akham and Osjc to fight again. The Osjic will want to watch our conflict, but because of that, they will likely strike at a point of seeming weakness. If we could get them to warp towards one of our planets with few antiorbital or space weaponry(so to not focus on them)and at the same time somehow get a portion of the Akham to break of the man fleet to divide and conquer...its wishful thinking, but we need every advantage we can get against the matriarch. "I have already stated I wish to forge a path where the living and undead can coexist and feel it is my duty to oppose or enlighten any force that would threaten it," you say, watching as he seems to tense but you are unsure if that is from a momentary hiccup with the connection, "Though you do not yet have sufficient reason to trust me, and with good reason not to, if I am honest, I do hope that we may build a...professional sense of trust between our factions."

Admiral Benvatte was silent for a few moments then gives a short, polite nod, "We shall have to see, but I do agree. I became a soldier to fight for those times of peace that we can wrest from our foes, for those times we do not have to fear for the well being of our loved ones," he glances down and taps at something on his desk for a brief second then back to you, "I will pass along your words of gratitude to High Command and the Senate."

"Farewell Admiral," you say before the connection was severed.

The bursts of radiation that flare out as the Reconstructed fleet emerges from FTL is likely lost among the solar winds rushing off the triple stars of the Throne system. Their shields glow bright against the ionizing radiation even as they appeared close to the magnetosphere of a large and dense world, a nearby moon covered in clouds shining relatively nearby.

The Voidknight Disciple standing in the bridge of the Mirrorsoul Battleship at the heart of the rescue fleet orders wide-scans of the system. The Pilots and Think Tanks struggle to compensate for the radiation within the system but after several minutes they confirm the moon ahead of them was where Muic and the Ahkam battleship had crash-landed.

Accelerating toward the moon the forward scouting sub-capitals send back alerts that they've detected a trio of vessels within the upper atmosphere of the moon. Moments later a holo-image is projected before the Disciple showing a trio of starships matching the description of the one that had discovered Muic. A moment later and another image is shown of another crashed into the dunes a short distance from the wrecked battleship, blots of dark color against the beach.

As the fleet nears the trio of ships turn to face them, the foremost ships reporting that they were accelerating slowly to intercept. At this distance and the ambient radiation sensors cannot detect if they are charging weapons or not but the bubble of refracted energy surrounding them showed their shields to be engaged.

From the surface there was a psionic whisper, a faint cry for help from a Think Tank, <Assista------equired! Punishe--Muic----gravely----amaged and un----att--k, repeat, assistance re--> and the connection is lost with the solar currents.

At their commands a number of Corvettes and Frigates separate from the fleet and begin circling around the approaching ships toward the moon as the rest of the fleet moves into battle formation but holds their fire even though they were within range of the spinal canons. There were a few moments when it looked as if the unknown vessels would ignore the separated ships but they begin to split up as well, a single vessel each heading for both groups of rescue ships as the third continues to face down the main fleet.

There was a broadcast sent out from them then, a harsh synthetic voice speaking the galactic trade language crackling through the speakers, "Alert! Unknown Necrotic fleet, surrender immediately for erradication."

The message was followed by a volley of energy lances leaping from the vessels to strike the shields of the Reconstructed ships. The shields of one corvette flickers then shatters as the lance slices through it to melt a sizable hole into the hull, damaging but failing to outright destroy the sub-capital.

Spinal cannons unleash their kinetic payloads, strikecraft sized slugs of dense metal and bone carved with runes of impact, sending them streaking across the stellar void toward their targets.

The solitary enemy ships strike out with more of the lances of destructive light, a corvette and frigate carved into by their attacks as the beams seem to punch easily through their shields while carving into their hulls leaving them crippled. Moments later the light of the kinetic rounds impacting and detonating against the attackers shields reaches the Disciple. At the front of the man force the hangar battlecruiser races forward flanked by the light cruisers, their missiles racing out ahead of the Nails and Gunships that follow in their wake ready to tear into their foes.

Satisfied the attacks seem to have gained their attention the trio of sub-capitals shift and rejoin as their shields glow nearly opaque with the barrage of missiles striking them even as they unleash their own hail of glowing light to intercept the semi-sentient explosives. Their distraction allowed the rescue ships still in one piece to slip past even as several trail atmosphere and rapidly cooling bits of melted hull behind them.

By the time they began to glow with reentry as they descended into the moons atmosphere the trio of sub-capitals were engaged with the Armada strikecraft as the fleet nears even further and relying solely on kinetic rounds and missile. Nails and Gunships were cut down by rapid firing bolts of hardlight that sublimate and melt their hulls until their engines or missilepods rupture into balls of green Necrotic flame. The weapons of the strikecraft do little more than make their shields glow bright but a kinetic slug fired from a Destroyer manages to finally punch through one of their shields. It gouges a large glowing scar along its side, the slug ricocheting until it began to glow with reentry itself as it streaks into the moons atmosphere seconds later.

Now well within range of their necroflensers the fleet unleashes a barrage of Necrotic weaponry, gleaming flenserbolts and crackling flayer beams leaping out to strike the trio of ships. The unshielded ship begins to shudder from the impacts and attacks but even as the Disciple watches the Necrotic attacks seem to weaken the closer they were to the vessels, dealing less damage than they should have. Yet the missiles and kinetic rounds from their bonecannons and spinal cannons have the typical effect, a gunship sized slug fired from the Mirrorsoul punching cleanly through the vessel.

Compounding to their strange nature the struck vessel doesn't detonate or rupture into a ball of flame. Rather, it seems to shatter into pieces as the kinetic round rips through its centermass, the remnants breaking down into ever smaller pieces until all that remained in its place was a shimmering field of spacedust. If the Disciple hadn't seen its destruction for themself, they would have thought the vessel somehow escaped or went into stealth.

With the destruction of their ally the remaining pair of ships group even closer to each other, their shields nearly grazing as bolts of energy arc between them like static. There was a moment as the shields press into and through each other before there was a shifting of light and the two bubbles of refracted energy become one solid sphere of opaque light, hiding the vessels within as they seem to combine the strength of their shields.

Snarling in annoyance the Disciple orders a full kinetic barrage against the reinforced sphere of shields even as they retaliate with their own beams of light carving into the ships that begin to swarm and surround them. From within the shields spheres of glittering light are launched, the projectiles traveling at sub-light speeds even as the sensors detect no physical core to the attacks although they strike and detonate against the fleets shields as if they were missiles themselves.

Still the battle rages on, the Disciple nearly infuriated by the tenacity of this strange new foe.

>>1660662
Descending through the atmosphere a handful of frigates and corvettes pass into the clouds of a raging storm, those with functioning shields glowing bright as the occasional bolt of stray lightning strikes them. Steam billowed off those without as the rain began to strike their hulls still glowing with heat either from the reentry or the attacks suffered in orbit.

Through the storm they push, their hulls shaking and rattling until they punch through the clouds as rain pelts them heavily. The seas rage below as they rush toward their target where an orange haze of light lit up towering pillar of steam that rose into the darkness.

Coffins and gunships emerge from the hangars of the frigates, moving ahead of the larger ships forced to move slower within the atmosphere. Grav-thrusters shaped like rippled bone flaps shift and twitch as they use the dense gravity of the moon to race toward their objective.

As they neared the glow intensified, the dark silhouette of the crashed battleship cast stark against it. As they neared they see the battleship and the dunes around it glinted in the storm, its hull and hillsides not covered in shifting sands but melted and glazed over into a shiny covering of glass radiating from a large crater of blackened glass slag. Embedded into a nearby hill was the downed vessel, its hull falling to literal pieces and piles of shimmering dust that were being blown away by the storm winds.

Finally they spy the source of the glow, veritable lake of molten rock and glass swirling in a constant spiral in a near perfect circle. A column of steam rises into the air as the rain is evaporated before it could strike the burning earth, glowing with the orange light of the newly formed lake of magma and the flash of weaponsfire along the lakes "shoreline".

Circling the pool of melted stone and sand a dozen of the humanoid foes that had interrogated the Ahkam prisoner then fought Muic until the serpents violent suicide. They seemed to float more than stand above the surface, darting across the blasted glass with their spike-like feet barely touching the ground as they fought against the forces rising from the molten lake.

Rising from beneath the swirling orange lake were Obsidianborn constructs, creations of stone and metal geokinetically flinging shards of dense stone at supersonic speeds or funneling the molten liquid that surrounded them into streams of intense heat and cutting power. In the center of the swirling lake a chrysalis of obsidian glass larger than a Coffin floats, a handful of Stonestar and Cyclops Reconstructed who somehow survived stood atop and fired with their dwindling ammo supplies. At the sight of the approaching Coffins the Stonestar and Cyclops began to cheer as they renewed their efforts to protect the catatonic Muic within her protective shell.

How shall the rescue forces attempt to rescue Muic?

Hopefully soon, but I do need a consolidated description of the races we met so far. I still have trouble differentiating Esat, Kosda, and some other races in my headcanon.
>>
>>1660727
Approach in a broad semicircle on the nearest side, focusing on the closest enemies. We'll try to drive them all to the far side of the molten lake, splitting into two groups to go around each way if range and line of sight demand it, and have whichever group is most targeted hunker down and take cover while the other advances. We need to push them back far enough that we can extract Muic. Do we have any dirges? They should try to extract the entire chrysalis if they can.

Retrieve the Stonestar into our Coffin immediatly, if we have any shock troop, drop them on the shore, their thruster should allow them to fight with those dam thin-heads.

A small force of coffin should try to carry Muic chrysalid, with nails acting as litteral shield to protect them; the rest must help our ground force hold the line or eventually destroy the ennemy force.

The absolute priority is retrieving Muic; if we start to loose the ground fight, and that Muic is safe, order the ship in low orbit to glass the area. We will loose some reconstructed and Obsidianborn and the "corpse" of the thin-heads, but we can't give them sample to analyse.

Is it possible to o erload the FTL generators without boarding and or critcrawl emp burst?
I wpuld if possible like to get the thinktanks working on better understanding the way the various FTL interact with phasic space and real space. My reasoning is that if we can fully understand the "how" in more depth then our current data, figured we could find some way to inhibit ftl this way. Even if it blocks OUR ftl too the ability to prevent another missing muic, get more delicious salvage and in general inspire serious concern in akky and cause everyone else to shit themselves all over again is tpo good noy to pursure.

The downside is that if there's a big battle and enemies know they can't escape, they won't try, and it makes our job harder. So we'd have to use it sparingly, and only after the battle is essentially won.

I think you're right that it would do wonders in discouraging raiding though. Jumping into a system with less than enough force to conquer it would be suicide.
>>
>>1662506
See what I was thinking was using a combination of mobile short range inhibitors for battles and larger carrier sized ones to lay traps along the FTL pathways. This way we can use them as an ace in the hole method to prevent emergency escapes and to trip up invaders. The possibilties of phasic weapons also gave me some idea for boarding devices made for straight up ftl and engine wrecking purposes.

Would this allow us to stop the Arkham from using their Arc-based method of FTL travel tough ? It is very different from the other, and they are the principal ennemy we don't like to see flee (because we need those fine Snek alive to serve us).

We need to push them back far enough that we can extract Muic.

For extracting Muic, use Dirges to pull the chrysalis our way until there's enough space for Coffins to grab it without being the primary target of enemy fire. If Dirges can't pull that off then just try to push the enemy troops back far enough and keep enough pressure on them so Coffins can rescue the troops on the chrysalis and extract the chrysalis where it is.

The Reconstructed are fairly expendable compared to Muic and the living troops.

If any of the enemy troops group up in any way, focus on them immediately. These guys seem to have tricks that involve combining their tech for greater effect.

A pair of Gunships roar ahead of the approaching group of Coffins, the barrels of their repeater cannons rotating as they locked onto the humanoid robots moments before they open fire against them. Several of the robots recoil as they see the approaching strikecraft and the blasted glass shattering in a rapidly moving line toward them a split second before the first was struck. The high velocity slugs shatter its arm and leg on one side. It falls and scrambls against the black glass before rolling onto its side and aiming with its remaining forearm and unleashes a burst of hardlight bolts against the defenders on the floating obsidian.

Reacting to the new attackers the strange cybernetic creatures split their attention between the strikecraft and those still defending Muics chrysalis. They fired their bolts of hardlight at the Obsidianborn constructs who either weather the strikes with little damage or block them with swells of molten stone. One lances the stone shell of a lumbering fighter stomping toward them, the beam carving a glowing line through the limb it threw up to block before one of its many others swung down, trailing glowing specks of stone to strike with resounding cracks. As it pummels the robot into the blasted glass it paid no heed of the barrage from the robots comrades that were sublimating chunks of its dense armor.

As the gunships roared past overhead and banked to make another pass one was struck by a trio of beams. They carve into the armor plating and punch into the interior with shocking ease, sending it careening wildly before crashing into a sand dune with a ball of green flame.

The other manages to dodge the attacks sent it's way with only a glancing blow against a wingtip, the Pilot within shouting its own simple but potent fury as the fixed lightning cannon crackles with its buildup of energy just below the gunships nose. Swooping low over the dunes and glass field from the Ahkam's violent suicide there was a crack of thunder and flash of blinding blue light as the lightning cannon unleashes its barrage of crackling energy that arc out to strike several of the robotics in its passing.

Unlike the necrotic weaponry that failed to damage these cybernetic creatures much at all the pure electric energy of the cannon seems to work as intended. At least two of their number who took the brunt of the attack were thrown back scattering their limbs wide and leaving them as smoldering wrecks twisted and warped from the heat.

The attack seemed to scatter them momentarily and in that time of confusion the Obsidianborn charge forth to engage them out of the molten pool. They fought with glass blades that glowed with heat or sprayed pressurized streams of slag as they fought to defend the Stonestar and the champion Muic, the Think Tanks on the approaching Coffins and within the stone chrysalis could hear their silent, psionic warcries.

>cont
>>
>>1664691
Swooping in the Coffins unload their cargo of Molten Trolls leaping out to splash up to their waists in the swirling pool of liquid stone and sand to open fire with weaponry that forgo necrotic energy in favor of the Obsidianborn tech. Dark armor formed of a mix of bone, stone and metal they endured the deadly heat as they bellow out their own rage and fury. They form a perimeter around the chrysalis, the newly formed undead taken from Drakon and sent along by Agona before she knew of how dire Muic's situation would become.

Following the deployment of the Molten Trolls a trio of Obsidian Dirges float down, the dark, jagged glass that petrifies them glowing with the light of the pool. The Stonestar survivors cheer as the Reconstructed reinforcements deploy. Many of them are wounded, several even missing portions entire limbs but all still continue to fight by taking shots against the robots fighting with the Obsidianborn. The geokinetic Dirges move to the line of Molten Trolls, a wall of the glowing slag rising up in a defensive barrier between them and the chrysalis.

Seeming to notice the attempted rescue several of the robotics separate from their struggles with the Obsidianborn to open fire against the hybrid Reconstructed, bolts and lances cutting down several of the Trolls or striking the wall of shifting liquid stone. As the Think Tanks aboard the Coffins suspected the Molten Trolls and Obisidan Dirges seemed to resist the weaponry of the robots that standard Reconstructed had been so violently vulnerable to.

Tethers of sinew were thrown down from a pair of Coffins that lowered down to just above the chrysalis, the Stonestar working hard to secure them by stabbing the phasic bolts into the stone. To provide additional cover several of the remaining Cyclops, the only Reconstructed to survive the Ahkam's death because of their isolating in scouting the dunes, scramble up the tethers as they go taut and onto the tops of the dropdhips to resume their own attacks. Their spinecasters explosive rounds had proved effective against the robots, the bone shrapnel doing more damage than any flenser or flayer.

At a mental command from a Think Tank sealed within the chrysalis the Stonestar also begin scaling the tethers rapidly as the large obsidian chunk was lifted from the pool. They took refuge in the cargo bay, many collapsing in exhaustion as they finally relax after their violent day.

>cont
>>
>>1664701
As the pair of Coffins ascended the robots ignored the Obsidianborn completely, their lances and bursts of hardlight aimed from the obsidian chrysalis. Chunks of the protective shell were sublimated away or gouged into but the Obsidianborn and Molten Trolls ruthlessly bear down on them to carve them to pieces or pound them into the glass.

The frigates and corvettes finally approach as the storms rage around them while shedding more Coffins to reinforce them. The pair of Coffins supporting the chrysalis between them shake in the fierce winds but they manage to return to a frigate and secure Muic within the hangar bay.

>Muic has been secured

>>1664706
Shouting out a curse in the language of the Black Flame the Voidknight Disciple watches as a light cruiser, who's shields had already failed only minutes prior, was rendered crippled as a quartet of dense beams strike it. As with the other vessels left maimed and drifting around them, its potent Necrotic Reactor failing and losing energy to leave it nearly powerless.

A sense of relief washed through the Disciple as it received the news of Muics retrieval and a holographic marker over the map of the moon showed the frigate ascending back into space.

Their attention was jerked back to the battle at hand as an alert from a Pilot showed another trio of the corvette sized vessels approaching from one of the other planets within the system. Grumbling they see they would be there rapidly and see the damage that the remaining vessel had forced upon the rescue fleet.

When the two surviving vessels had moved closer together it seemed as if they were merely overlapping their shields in an effort to stave off the kinetic attacks but as more layers of the shield fell the Disciple saw something that made them grind their teeth in frustration. Within the densely layered shields the two corvettes appeared to be conjoining as one laid atop the other and began to shift in shape. Where their hulls met it seemed to be shifting and uniting but a clear visual was nearly impossible through the shielding and with the solar radiation.

Remaining forces:
>1 Mirrorsoul Battleship (Minor damage)
>1 Destroyer (Heavily damaged)
>1 Hangar Battleship (Moderately damaged)

Wew, what a trip.

Now it's the battle in orbit, and hopefully cleanup. We can't let any of the enemy escape this system with research materials that would let them learn how to counter us any more effectively than they already do.

At least we've discovered that Arc, geokinetic, and physical/explosive weapons work well, and that Obsidianborn are resistant to their attacks. These guys are custom-built to counter the undead, but luckily we've spent lots of effort on diversification.

I'd say Bastion, but the concern I have is that it's the farthest of the three, and that both might delay our departure from this system and our arrival in that one.

So let's got the Drakon first in a bid to GTFO of this system ASAP, and then go to Bastion. She needs some Lavafather expertise. Whatever this chrysalis thing going on is, it's got to be primarily geokinetic.

This has the added benefit of not point them directly to our home space. Drakon is less aligned with our core empire and is controlled by Lavafather forces that are more resistant to their attacks.

Knowing how important their mission was, particularly after the abrupt loss of Nekris, the Disciple forces themself to calm their anger as their mind races assessing the battlefield. After only a moment they begin shouting their orders and the Think Tanks dutifully relay it as the Pilot work hurriedly at their control. The last remaining Destroyer, much of it's hull compromised and left for crippled by the uniting vessel, struggles but begins to limp forward, it's damaged engines sputtering but flaring bright as it picks up speed.

Folding their arms across their chest they watch the screens displaying the battlefield as their mind travels briefly to their lost comrade-in-arms and the tales of their exploits on Calera. Once more they swear to themself they would not be overshadowed by the Warward Disciple's glories and focus themselves on the battle at hand.

As the frigate and two corvettes rose from the moons atmosphere after retrieving Muic and the survivors, along with samples of their newfound enemy, the rapidly approaching ships angle for them rather than the struggling fleet. Their approach was cut-off though as the remaining Nails, redirected from their assault against the conjoining corvettes the moment the trio were detected, raced in and unleashed their remaining stores of missiles as their repeater cannons cause their shields to flash and ripple with each impact. The Pilots of the Nails took joy even as they were cut down by the ships, knowing that their sacrifice was helping ensure the survival of one of the Armada's heroes.

As the light cruisers and several remaining sub-capitals raced in and unleashed their spinal cannons the shields of the foremost corvette that was nearly in range of the frigate carrying Muic were shattered under the barrage of kinetic rounds. Moments later the remaining pair of Nails swooped in, crashing themselves into the ships engines and forcing it to swerve suddenly as the detonations threw it off course. This allowed the other ships to get closer in range as they opened fire pursuing the vessels still chasing after Muics.

The conjoining corvettes began to resemble a vessel closer in size to a light cruiser, its shape shifting as metal appears to mold and change with the ease of clay. It's weaponry seemed to be stronger as well, another frigate nearly cut in half by a concentrated attacked by three of its lances but it's shields had been under constant barrage and was beginning to flicker. The Pilots of the Mirrorsoul Battleship begin shouting out alerts as the ship aimed itself and locked onto it before a barrage of condensed hardlight bolts were unleashed. The heavily fortified shields of the battleship hold for the moment but the Pilots report that sustained fire would be disastrous.

>cont

>>1665351
The Disciple just gives a short order and a salute with a fist thumping against their chest as lightseconds away the nearly crippled Destroyer, trailing fuel and atmosphere, charges right for the conjoined ship.

The surviving Pilots and crew of the capital ship shout and chant their hymns to the Wormstar as they open fire with whatever weaponry that still responded at a near point-blank range. Even as the last of its reactor begins to fail and the recoil of the spinal cannons shatter their supports the final layers of its shields fall and the pointed prow of the Destroyer collides with the vessel. The much larger capital ship strikes the light cruiser, spearing into it and almost seems to split the ship back into its separate parts before either whatever remaining energy remained in the Destroyers reactor or the conjoined ships energy source ruptures and a ball of tumultuous flame engulf both starships.

With the conjoined vessel destroyed the remaining forces accelerate after the remaining ships engaged with the cruisers and sub-capitals. In the distance the Disciple watches as the frigate carrying Muic and its protective corvettes wrap themselves in twisted light before accelerating at impossible speeds into the cosmic distance and disappearing. A cheer rang up from the crews of the remaining vessels and the Disciple gave a satisfied nod before shouting out their last orders.

The crippled and heavily damaged Armada ships left drifting through space begin overloading their reactors or sabotaging their engines while opening fire with whatever weaponry remained against the dead wrecks and hulks around them. Attempting to destroy their remains they call out praises to Jadyk and the Wormstar in their moments before their ships erupt into flames to prevent these new enemies from learning as much as they could from the Reconstructed ships.

The Armada ships dueling with the remaining pair of corvettes, the third crippled and nearly destroyed after the kamikaze attack of the Nails, attempts to disengage. Attempting to repeat the actions of the Destroyer a pair of heavily injured frigate and corvette accelerate and ram into the shields of the attackers allowing their comrades a chance to separate.

Even as they erupted into balls of green flame and crackling energy the surviving fleet, including the Disciples Battleship, wrap themselves in pockets of distorted space-time as they make their escape. Once safely en route to the Drakon system and then Bastion the Disciple finally allows themself to sit down in a chair of bone and muscle that sprouts from the bridge floor to catch them.

Annoyed with how many ships it required to rescue her, the Disciple was proud that they had been successful. Particularly in the face of an unknown and new enemy that seemed custom-built to combat the Necrotic.

Also might I suggest we look into making kinetic only ships made from non necrotic materials in conjunction with the Lava father as they seem resistant to these new assholes

So question, if we make a Hughes bioships then pump it full of dirge crystals can it have ship size telekinetic attacks?

So had a idea in my head for some times, and the recents events convinced me that it would be a valuable new assets to our troop. I was thinking that we where lacking true heavy troop in the Obsidian category relying mostly on Motlen Troll, Obsidianborn ally and of course our delicious daughters. Such troops should be able to be quicly deploy, and pack some punch, also need to be cool, so introducing:

Fireshell Crabs
Those reconstructed take a form roughly looking like a crustacean, with short but very powerfull legs supporting a body heavily carapaced. They are infused with the strengh of the lavafather and as such, coated in a burning aura. The main reason they are so heavily carapaced is that they are intended to be used as ammunition by special canon on geomantic attuned ship. Using they considerable weight, they crash into the battlefield, their massive shell protecting them from the heat and friction of the re-entry while heating their caparace, their legs press against their body.

Once landed, they roam the battlefield, using their massive and sur-heated legs to pierce trough the heaviest of armor; and if this is not enough, they can climb on their opponant and use their full weight to crush and bruise them with a burning and harneded "beak" situated under their body.

They are quite slow because of their weight, but they can use their powerfull legs to execute short jump, crushing opponant under them when landing. Their shell is a also ponctued with geomantic weapon, using their fiery core and the heat generated during the re-entry to melt their opposant.

I imagine them to be quite big, but I think they could came in different size if we wish soo.

TL;DR : Big fiery-magmatic undead crab of destruction that fall from the sky.

So...magmatic crit-crawls?
>>
>>1666055
Well no. They don't explode. Also when I say "quite big" I'm thinking like almost Brute sized, maybe bigger, maybe a bit smaller; but in this size category, crit-crawls are little suicidal fucker; not big scary bruiser.
>>
>>1666071
We kind of already have trolls and battletombs for bruisers. We're supposed to be simplifying our units, not making them more complicated.
>>
>>1666073
Well we don't have Magmatic attuned Battletomb, and they would not fill the same role. As for troll, they are not in the same category; Fireshell crab are closer to a Brute than a Troll.
>>
>>1666078
After looking at the pastebin, I think they would be the equivalent of a Magmatic Crawler (the 8 meter monster, not the explosive critters), except with a focus on close combat instead of long range artiellery.

Maybe after researching the megafauna of that planet the Armatocere traded us knowledge about we'll be able to make something geokinetic and huge, like a moving lava fortress.
>>
>>1667736
That's....a very good idea actually; I wasn't imagining them THAT big, something between a Crawler or a Mangler. But yeah, giant walking forteress could be terryfing, and the ability of the magmatic to be REALLY tough motherfucker could give him the use of DISTRACTION CARNIFEX as a bonus.

Perhaps it could be more a cosmetic change for brutes used on Rukor's capital city

Supporting undead arkham clones thing let's see what our necromancer can brew up with some almost hero level building materials
>>
>>1671360
Or just make it a magmatic version of the Mangler with some minor change.

Alternativly, use the Magmatic Crawler frame we have but modify it to have a focus on melee ?

This anon >>1667736 idea is cool tough, we could probably find great idea to exploit the potential of really big ass reconstructed.
>>
>>1671504
Also I support this, but add a Arc relay in the B'nan system.

I'm onboard for a magmatic super-Battletomb. A geokinetic Bolo sounds awesome. It should probably be a General itself though.
>>
>>1672139
Bolo ?
>>

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bolo_(tank) Bolo
>>
>>1672411
Do Armada versions would be called "Rotnaughts" portable think tank relay base with heavy weapons for securing forward positions
>>
>>1672411
Nice. I imagine them more like giant reconstructed than proper tank, to fit our thematic.

Actually I had a idea while thinking about the sweet, sweet possibility of the megafauna.

Basicly, a giant ass creature, maybe something like a centipedes ? But anyway the exterior form dosn't really matter. It should be something resilient, because inside of it is a Cauldron, and this horrific being would roam the battlefield, eating the dead and the dying to dump them into it's internal cauldron, production unit on the run. It would allow us to produce unit directly on the battlefield, and it would be utterly terryfing.
