You are the former United States Navy warship USS HOEL, now returned as a shipgirl and ready to kick Abyssal ass!

Currently, Hoel is in a bit of a pickle! The last time we left off, she had tried to jam the AA Princess' fire control radar and... well... did not quite succeed.

So now the situation is to decide whether you want to use a FATE POINT to go for a reroll. You currently only have 1 point left, and you need to beat a 17! Do you want to take the chance?

However, the AA Princess isn't even phased. Her rapid fire cannons roar as they spit fire and steel at Graf Spee. While the shells were too small to effectively pierce her thick cruiser armor, the repeated impacts did cause her to flinch, breaking her momentum.

The AA Princess' guns then swivel and begin tracking Kidd. You knew that with her almost nonexistent armor, she'd get shredded to pieces. Kidd seems to realize her predicament, but draws her cutlass anyways, apparently attempting to get at least one shot in.

"This is simply too easy!" You hear the AA Princess cackle.

You achieve your aim in that she's forced to turn to respond to you, but she does so at a speed you're not prepared for, her guns already tracking to lock on to you, a bloodthirsty smile on her pale face.

Shit, this was it-

Suddenly, your vision is obscured as Graf Spee interposes herself between you and the AA Princess, turning her back so that her Rig takes the brunt of attack. The AA Princess' guns open up again, glancing off and denting her armored skin.

"Fick!" Graf Spee curses as she turns her gaze to you. "Get Kidd and get out of here! I'll hold her off!"

"No! We're all getting out of here together!" You yell, leaning out around Graf and taking several potshots at the AA Princess with your own guns. "Kidd! Get over here and back us up!"

"Roger!" Kidd nods as she swings around to Graf's opposite side, contributing her own fire to yours. Thankfully, the AA Princess didn't have a convenient source of cover like Graf, meaning she had to actually maneuver to avoid your shots.

Maybe firing off your missiles would give her a thing or two to think about, but those were limited, and from what your radar was telling you, Blys and Haida weren't doing so well either against their own opponents...

Almost immediately, the AA Princess' attention is draw to your four missiles as they lurch out and over Graf Spee as they take a ballistic course towards her. Her AA guns lock on, but you notice them twitch and vibrate rapidly, apparently unable to lock onto the LRASMs. Thank god for modern stealth technology, huh?

The four LRASMs dive down and explode, engulfing the AA Princess in a cloud of fire. You're not sure if she's was taken out or not, but her unceasing fire had stopped, giving you an opportunity to move.

You sail over to the impact site, but as the smoke clears, you realize you didn't need to go through the effort.

All four missiles had scored direct hits on the AA Princess. Being just a simple destroyer, there was practically nothing left of her. Only a few scraps of flesh and a pool of smoldering oilblood.

Another explosion jolts you back to attention. No time to reflect on what had happened. There was still a battle going on!

Leaving behind the remains of the AA Princess, you speed back towards the main battle. Blys and Haida were still engaging the Re-class and DD Princess respectively. Kidd had pulled Graf back to the rear line with Mulberry and White Plains, where Mulberry was also trying to effect field repairs on the damaged cruiser.

Blys had her lance out, but was having trouble getting close to the Re-class, whose massive guns were keeping the Pole at bay. Those things had to be 16 inchers, at least!

Meanwhile, the battle between Haida and the DD Princess was getting extremely heated. It had devolved to a close range affair, with the DD Princess having apparently grown claws on her arms and swiping furiously at the Canadian, who was only barely holding off her blows with her combat knife.

"The situation is not in our favor, I'm afraid." Mulberry says with her typical British with. "Our opponents are putting up a fierce fight and Abyssal reinforcements will be here shortly."

"We should be getting out of here." White Plains says. "We bagged the AA Princess, that should be enough, right?"

"Let's go!" You nod as you speed to where Blys and Haida are.

Again, they were holding their own, but steadily losing ground. The Re-class not only had a lot of firepower packed in that tail of hers, but she was also blindingly fast, moving with the speed of a destroyer, making it infuriatingly difficult for Blys to land a hit, either with her guns or her lance. The Re gives a predatory smile as her tail drool hungrily.

Meanwhile, Haida was getting pressured hard, repeatedly forced to parry or dodge the DD Princess' relentless attacks as she hacked and slashed at her defenses. Sparks flew as obsidian claws struck steel. Haida herself already had a few cuts and scratches, but her sheer discipline was what was keeping her afloat.

"Kidd, help try to draw some of the heat off of Blys!" You instruct your fellow Fletcher.

"Aye aye!" Kidd nods. "That Abyssal may be fast but she's not match for the most fearsome pirate of the seas!"

"Just don't get yourself killed, got it?" You grunt as you split up with Kidd and make a beeline for Haida.

Up above, a flight of Helldivers courtesy of White Plains zips overhead, doing what they can to help out Haida. Bombs are dropped, but the DD Princess' reflexes are far too amped up, easily breaking away from Haida for a brief moment to dodge the dropped bombs before dashing back in to resume her attacks, leaving her only brief seconds to even breathe.

Well, now it's time to change that. You still had four missiles ready to go, but given how close the DD Princess was to Haida, it was a big risk firing them off, even with the more advanced sensors...

"Got it." Haida nods and the two of you fire up your engines.

In the distance, you could see a frustrated Blys finally toss her lance at the Re like a javelin, the weapon whistling through the air like a missile. The Re casually knocks the lance aside with her tail, but that means her cannons are temporarily out of action, allowing both Blys and Kidd to break off, pounding the Re with their main guns as they went.

The Re, for her part, doesn't pick up speed, apparently more content to sit back and try to snipe the annoying destroyers from range.

The DD Princess, however, had different ideas.

There are doujins about that, featuring Shimakaze, Amatsukaze, a Wo-class, a Re-class and a considerable amount of toys and rope.
We should take a picture to that and send them to Sweet Pea and Anna.

>FATE POINT USED
>No FATE POINTS remain!

But holy crap, that DD Princess was ungodly fast. Too fast for even your modern missiles to properly track her as she made sudden and rapid turns so sharp that they should have been physically impossible had you not seen them performed with your own eyes.

However, all that sudden maneuvering did force the DD Princess to bleed off a great deal of her speed and she begins to fall behind.

Roaring in frustration, the DD Princess does the only thing she can at this point. She fires her cannons and torpedoes wildly and in all directions, in the somewhat vain hope that she could score a hit on you as you fled.

>FATE POINT GAINED
>You now have 1 point!

However, despite the DD Princess' crazed firing, none of her shots seems to land, which is great for you. Up above, you see the flights of planes deployed by White Plains and Mulberry finally returning, their wings and bomb bays empty. Only a couple of squadrons of fighters linger around to provide air cover.

Up ahead, you see Mulberry, White Plains, Graf Spee, and Sam waiting for you at the edge of the Storm Wall. Sam's stealth field was already fully powered up, which would at least help shroud you all from Abyssal surveillance.

"About damn time!" Sam grunts. "C'mon!"

"Right, right." You nod as you home in on Anna's beacon. "Is Graf okay?"

"Of course I am!" The German boasts before Mulberry pinches her side, causing her to wince in pain.

"Graf Spee received mostly superficial damage, though a lot of her external systems were knocked out of commission." Mulberry explains. "However, she should be able to traverse the Storm Wall under her own power."

"Arrrr, she be sailing with me!" Kidd boasts. "A pirate always knows her way!"

"Then let's go!" You grunt.

As your squadron sails into the Storm Wall, you check your datalink once again. Seems like with you raising all sorts of hell, Woel and Paz were forced to call off their own missions to evade Abyssal heat. Woel naturally chastises you for blowing your own cover and making things harder for everyone. Meanwhile, Paz and Anna are just glad that you're all right.

As you all traverse the storm, Mulberry sails up next to you.

"My apologies." She sighs. "It seems like this mission endangered us all, due in no small part to my insistence to come along."

"Nah, none of this was your fault at all." You assure Mulberry. "If anything, it was that asshole Stranger puttin' ideas in our heads."

"He is quite the devious one." Mulberry nods. "Though I wonder why he was so interested in the Re-class Abyssal?"

"Beats me." You shrug. "Though I guess that'll be something we gotta tell the Admiral and Captain."

"Indeed." Mulberry nods in agreement.

And finally, your squadron clears the Storm Wall, breaking out into actual sun and sky. You can't believe you've almost forgotten what sunlight on your skin actually felt like.

"Hoeeeeel!" You hear Anna cry as she steams toward you at full speed. Behind her, you see Luce, Wren, and Daly doing their very best to catch up with her.

"What the...?" Haida frowns.

"What's she doing?" Graf Spee asks.

Crap, you might have an idea.

However, despite this foreknowledge, you're only barely prepared to accept Anna as she leaps forward into your arms, planting a kiss squarely on your lips and nearly knocking you over into the water.

The other gathered shipgirls just shake their heads and continue onwards, doing their level best to ignore you. It wasn't as if your relationship wasn't common knowledge already or anything!

"Jeez, Anna, what's with this all of a sudden?" You chuckle as she finally pulls away.

"I-I was watching you fight the whole time!" Anna explains. "And... and I saw how close things got!"

Ah right. The datalink didn't just convey images, but emotions and state of mind as well. If Anna truly was watching...

"Yeah, things were a little dicey down there." You admit. "But as you can see, we all got out of it okay!"

"W-well, that's not enough!" Anna pouts. "You owe me big time! And I expect you to pay it off tonight!"

"Tonight?" You raise an eyebrow. "O-of course! And it's gonna be a surprise!" Anna assures you.

Too bad she was subconsciously broadcasting her desires.

"Kinky." Woel comments.

"Oh, that looks fun!" Paz joins in. "Can I try that too!"

"S-stop it!" Anna turns red all over again.

"Gaaaaaaaaaaay." You hear a certain sub whisper from quite a ways off.

"GET THE FUCK OUTTA HERE YOU HOMO SUBS!" You roar.

"Ah, the wonders of youth." Mulberry muses as she watches these hijinks unfold.
