The council room in Dragonstomb, Vicecouncilor Pen-ce adressing the gathered lords, prayer beads tightly clutched and blood still on his clothes.

“My good lords, my Empress, my fellow servants of the Pantheon.
This very morning, a raid was carried out against a Black Legion safehouse right here in Dragonstomb. The NSA, in cooperation with the brethren from the Knights of Juras, under my leadership, surrounded and stormed this lair of filth and degeneracy.

Re… resistance was heavier than expected. Our enemy fought with the desperation of cornered beasts, and the men under my command… they suffered casualties. Had not the stern and just Lord Juras himself been with us the enemy might very well have made good on their escape.
But the Pantheon held their hand over us, their beloved children, and gave us victory against the heretics. We captured a significant number of the craven dogs, the rest either died to our blades or took their own lives when they saw that there were no escape for them.

This is the second raid against this band of heretical necromancer carried out by Trusted Councilor Drunf, and I can promise you that there will be more to come. We will not rest until the last of these fiends have been captured and given to the flames.

As we speak, our forces are engaged in Eternia, where our intel informs us that the Black Legion is planning operations to spread further havoc in that already much devastated region. I can assure you that all available resources have been diverted to this threat and, with the blessings of Juras, we will strike another blow to these degenerates.

Thank you all very much, and may the Pantheon bless us all.”

Short summary of the war so far:
>We declared war on the Caliphate in Stomnis, 812
>We made some early gains on the desert and mountain fronts
>Zhongian joined on the side of Rhoznax
>We pushed their offensive back
>We suffered a big loss at Seldabad, losing 99% of our most elite army
>The Akeshizu Empire rapidly swarmed over the Kingdom of Selaven and conquered it within a few months
>The Royal Treasury was robbed entirely, the Tree of Divata was burned - accused of having links to the terror group known as the Remnant Dawn, the Iron Legion was attacked by royal(and mostly goblin) forces, with Charlestead being sacked.
>The King of Kamborash was assassinated, the Caliphate forces took his capital, Kambor
>The remnants of the Iron Legion, now under the leadership of the Vampire Lord Arthur Whitevayne, allied themselves with the Anavarkists and allowed their forces through the portal in Iron Hall
>Iron Hall was attacked by our forces, aided by brave heroes, who managed to close the portal before the Dark Titan Toimibon could cross over - Arthur having been dropkicked to the other side by an angry guard
>Eternia has been conquered, sporadic resistance persists in some areas - GGG attacks, banditry and necromancers roaming in Charlestead
>We took the initiative on the Zhongi front and successfuly established a foothold south of the Bao river, though we took a lot of casualties in the process
>The Akeshizu Empire annexed the last Whitevayne-held territories, their colonies near Selaven - no declaration of war has been made on Roggar
>Latest news by spatial communications from the mountain front say that General Claudius Vance has finally taken the Fortress of Durga after a lengthy siege

Why not build heavily armoured troop carriers.
Things that can go down rivers and land troops

All our problems with rivers and logistics are then taken care of?

Imperial Admiral, King Melgant Haraldson, is now working on standartising ship construction methods in the Empire, while Imperial Scribe, King Maldam Kragnan II, is standartising our cannons - in their construction and caliber, so as to make logistics and joint operations more efficient.
Roggar's shipyards are working on building new ships, a balance of war galleys, galleons(the latest in shipbuilding designs, an upgrade of the carracks) and war caravels.

Now we should:"
A.Enter war mode

We've recieved intelligence on the western front - apparently, a rogue Zhongi general has declared Empress Kai to be an illegitemate ruler and has announced his intent to dethrone her and put a descendant of the previous Emperor on the throne.
This general, Fan Jing Tso, is said to be a respected veteran among his peers, but one who is also in bad favour within the Imperial court. He has so far rallied a few feudal landowners to his side along with his personal army - they are said to be based in northeastern Zhongian and could prove an asset to our side.

Winter will soon set in and large armies will find it hard to move around with ease. A raid by a smaller, elite group behind enemy lines has been proposed and our allies on this front are willing to help with it.

Who do you wish to send on this proposed mission? If you have no characters/special soldiers that you can send(They have to be either on this front already or not too far away so they can get there in time) you can message me to be given control of some from our allies(An Ondalian, Paitran or Anglanorse hero/unit)

A cold rain in the afternoon turns to early snow in the night as you try to find shelter in the forest, wandering almost cluelessly. You finally find what look to be the remains of a small village in the woods - a little over a dozen wooden houses, some collapsed, some burned out to various degrees, three still in mostly decent shape. It appears the place is not entirely deserted, though - we spot about ten figures in ragged clothes, wearing straw hats and capes made of straws. We sit down - the two houses have a short yard distance between them. We erect a makeshift canopy to cover that distance and are able to light a small fire in the middle so we can warm ourselves and some of our food.
The soldiers have some of their own supplies that they let us have a taste of - a flour-product, a type of dumpling, called a "momo", filled with minced meat.
They number fourteen in total - foot soldiers, mostly levies - their leader, Xun, is the only proffesional soldier among them. Most have some armor, their weapons are bows, spears, swords and a pair of shields.

Violence only breeds more violence, we believe that togheter in support with General Tso we can bring the peace to both of our nation. Believe when i say, war is something none of us want. I lost both my husband and son in this accursed war, and i have seen many more young boys jump straight into their deaths. Most of them are farmers, they say, serfs from this northern region. They grow rice, one of them used to herd cows. One of the archers was a hunter. They are worried about their villages being invaded by man-eating ogres on one hand or imperial bureaucracts taxing them to death on the other.
"This place we are in right now - it was a poor village that was being robbed by bandits and taxed by their local feudal lord. He was not paying his own taxes to the Empire though. His lands were burned and he and his family were killed - he was a villain, but did the people here deserve to die for it?

"It was not a rich life on the rice fields, but we had our friends and kin, we had peace and happiness - for generations. Now we are sent to fight men who are the same like us - normal farmers forced to go to war."
Xun has been rather silent throughout the exchanges so far.
"I thought being a warrior meant a life of honour. I still hope I can find that, but a soldier follows orders. I have broken my soldier's vow already by deserting the army, but it is for a greater cause - to serve a better man. I have been taught that at times a sacrifice must be made for a greater cause. There are many - thousands, hundreds of thousands - of soldiers in our Empire, men who will face a similar choice. Perhaps to you Roggarians we are the enemy, but to us this is our home. Many will see your invasion as a sign that they must fight you - and that they must follow the orders of the Empire."

Around afternoon, when the terrain has already started to become rather steep, we spot fortifications ahead - a series of garrisoned outposts - wooden constructions mostly, so presumably recently built, but nevertheless fairly complex in their design - multi-layered, designed to repell or delay an attacker while having signal towers that can warn the next fort over.
A formation of Zhongi soldiers flying banners of blue and red march out to meet us. A well-armored man on a horse leads in front.
He asks that we identify ourselves and state our purpose - we do so and after an understanding is reached he allows us to pass. Apointing an escort group, we go through the series of wooden forts and enter the mountain pass proper - in an hour, as the sun is setting, we reach Zheshu. It is a militarized town - not particularly large or rich, its main purpose being the security of this passage.
"A meeting between you and the General will be arranged, but until then we ask that you wait here." we are told

You all decide to go eat in a local guest house open to visitors. You order the local specialty - Zhájiàng Miàn (noodles with bean paste), with some meat and extra sides. Kolina finds it all increadibly delicious and is able to chat with the cook, learning a number of his recipes and enjoying their conversation a lot.
Bigswordmann is able to rest up.
Biggaxamann gets ill from eating one of the side dishes - something called tofu, made from soy beans.

You are horrified to discover that some of the meat around here - none of it having been served to your friends, though - is in fact from cats and dogs. This is not a rich region and the war has taken its toll - the horses and oxen are still needed, but in many places cats and dogs have been deemed a luxury to have.

He spends time with you, teaching you the basics of the local style of kung fu, which is known as "The Leopard's Paw" - a style that is strong, efficient, fast, technical, defined by accuracy, capable of stealth attacks.
He shares a scroll with you, detailing the basics of this style and invites you to visit the monastery at any time you want.

About a week after our arrival in Zhongi lands we are finally able to meet General Fan Jing Tso - he is an elderly person, yet a man who still retains his youthful vigour and constitution. He invites the leaders of our group(aka 1 character per player) in his local headquarters for tea so that we may speak in essence.
"So, I have been informed of all you've told my men so far." he says
"Now I am here. What do you wish to discuss?"
>>
>>1716302
We would like to discuss a possible Alliance or NAP between the Holy Pantheonic empire and you, our interests against the empress align
>>
>>1716302
Crystal Lord Ado Hatl shall attend. Not to be confused with a certain gay gunsman who reportedly died horribly a while back.
>>

"We're more or less just emissaries sent to broach the topic of an alliance with you - I get the sense from talking to our men and yours that neither side wishes to see blood spilled. On that issue, I think, we are united. Our men only stood and fought after addressing diplomats of the Empress earlier in the war, who were rebuffed - and now your men fight us as we are seen as invaders. Neither side is unreasonable, but looking at the bloodshed, there must be a better solution.

I would propose that in an initial show of trust & partnership we would back off up to a certain point - perhaps the river - in return for your men agreeing not to attack our men, as we will not attack you. If skirmishes occur, we will punish the individuals and hope you do the same.

Of course, this is a negotiation, not a senate. What's your thoughts on this?"

"It is too early for me to make such bargains, but the ideal I have for resolving this conflict is a strike on the capital, having the Empress dethroned, the entire Court thrown out and power restored to the main line of the Kai dynasty - an heir of Guan-lou Kai.
Perhaps I should explain the situation in more detail to you.
You may know that in the previous war Zhongian was initially allied with your Empire against the Caliphate - that was an agreement that was made with Emperor Guan-Lou Kai. He was a great man who recognized the dangers that many in the tiencalen elite posed to the nation - he was on bad terms with those sorcerers and merchants of theirs. While our armies were fighting in the east they plotted behind our backs and instigated rebellions and began open civil war within the Empire, backed by Anavarkist agents. They managed to usurp power and install Jilian Kai, the current Empress - she was the daughter of one of the emperor's uncles. Her mother, Xiula, is a tiencaleni noble, one who had been involved with many previous plots within the Imperial Court over the past three centuries. A cabal exists within those circles - the Ying Quan Zi. They have been around since the early days of the Empire, when the Zhongi and the Tiencalen forged a pact with the Celestials of Wind. They've sought to control the power structures in the Empire, to have tiencalen in positions of influence, to fill the bureaucracy, to direct the cultural development of the nation. They worked with other dark elves across the world to advance the goals of their people - when Aeldabad was annexed into Rhoznax a similar processed occured there and links between the two empires began being built - both on the ground of our worship of Dragons, the threat of Pantheonic expansion and the Tiencalen.
The Ying Quan Zi finally managed to put one of their own on the throne ninety years ago - yet while the Empress is of a fickle character, she is but a face presented to the public - symbolizing the unity of the Empire by virtue of her own blood.
The Imperial Government's power has expanded greatly in these past decades. The Tiencalen have almost full control over it on upper and middle levels. They have imposed imperial governors in most major cities, towns and fortresses, eroding the power of local landowners and feudal lords.
I am not so fundamentally opposed to such an idea, for I have seen the rot that the feudal order has caused in our own society - greed and lust for power for the individual and not the collective. I held the belief that our people must stand together and so I served the Empire for decades - on multiple occasions being the one tasked with taking down rebellious lords.
When our Empire declared war on yours recently I continued following orders - for a while I was commanding the front against your nation, but I was recalled. The Court knows that over the last years I've expressed my own disagreements with the way they rule."

How do you propose we get into the capital? Surely it's locked Down? And what'll we do, should we dethrone her? The country would descend into anarchy fast.
>>
>>1716432
"The situation is very complex, as you see. Were it just a matter of court politics it would be a simple matter of leading an army on the capital, a few assassinations, battles and sieges.
Yet, as you know, in our nation we worship the Serene Celestials - the divine dragons who protect us. I have had the great honour of speaking to a few of them in person, but even I do not fully comprehend their reasoning. They have allowed the Ying Quan Zi to gain such power and to allign us with Rhoznax and go to war. It is that support for the Empress that gives her more legitimacy than anything else, you see, for the Emperor is the mortal representative of the Celestials' Divine Will.
So you may ask - why have I raised arms against the Empress? There are several reasons for this.
I have seen and done much in my life and travelled to many places in the world. I believe this path that our Empire is headed towards will lead towards its destruction - be it by the hands of our enemies or our "allies".
It is my theory that the Celestials have put their support behind this Establishment partially in the name of stability and peace within the country - but while the unity of the nation has been preserved, no small amount of people have suffered unjustly. The Court is corrupt and does not care for the wellbeing of the nation beyond the need to satisfy their own desires. Their methods of "Keeping the peace" are brutal - blackmail, assassination...my own family was kept hostage to ensure my loyalty when I was charged with putting down the rebellions in the central provinces. When I refused to burn down villages in those rebellious provinces as punishment, I was sent the severed hand of my wife as a reminder.
I greatly respect the teachings of the Serene Celestials - the way in which our nation is run is in direct opposition to those teachings. Avarice, pride, lust and envy drive the wheels of the Court's machinations. I believe that, if shown that an alternative is possible, we can convince the Celestials to support the removal of the Ying Quan Zi from power. If we attempt a "Coup" as you would say in Paitran, without the support of the Serene, it would only result in chaos.
I have not openly engaged Imperial Armies in battle yet. I choose to negotiate, dig in and gather support. The feudal lords of the north and east - especially those who have ties, by marriage or otherwise, to the North, are starting to support my cause. They are not so difficult to convince - among many of the Zhongi humans I am respected and there remains a sentiment of distrust towards the ruling elites.
The biggest issues that my plan is faced are the following - your invasion from the north has now crossed the Bao river. The people feel that you are the immediate threat and that gives legitimacy to the claim that those like me, who oppose the Empress, are enemies of the Zhongi people as well, not just the Court. That is the first major problem I face."
>>
>>1716477
Ma-this, seated crosslegged on the floor, raises his eyes and speaks up for the first time in the meeting:
"Your cause is a just one. Then, tell us. What request would you make of Roggar and her allies then? How can we best assist you in your undertaking?"
>>
>>1716432
"We can reasonably take care of that - but first, how large are your forces, and within reason, how large can you make them grow?

How far we retreat may depend on this - if we go too far back, we could receive a call for help too late, and risk ruin for both parties."

"The second is gaining the support of the Serene Celestials. To ally myself with a nation that flies a banner of a dragon's skull - while I can appreciate the aid I may be given and believe my cause is just, I realize that it paints me as an even bigger traitor to the realm and all it stands for.
Yet even in the face of these odds, I know that we can not give up. And so I have welcomed you here and have told you what I have."
With everyone having finished their tea, servants bring food.
"Ah, there it is! My personal recipe, one I've improved over years of travel and experience. I hope you will enjoy it!"
The dishes brought contain servings of white rice, vegetables and a piquant, deep-fried chicken, rich in spices and with sides of sauces.
>>
>>1716495
Wolfing down the food, especially the delicious chicken, Ma-this sates his hunger quickly enough.
"I see your dilemma general. Your in a picky situation and our armies to the north are only making it more complicated for you. But as you surely understand our lords will not back down now, not when they believe they hold the advantage. Thus coordinating our efforts would surely be the most advantageous to us both.
Even if we would only be staying in touch by spatial communication, just exchange of information would surely benefit us both?"
>>
>>1716488
"I command fifteen thousand fighting men. I have control over almost all the territory between Chouzha, Min-qaishan and Donghugon - the region is rich in iron and my men are well supplied with arms and armor, but the food situation could be much better. As I said, we've yet to face Imperial Armies in any major battles. The local feudal lords support me and I know of many others who are hoping to join my cause. Our ranks swell by the hundreds every week and I have good officers and experienced soldiers in the core part of my army."
>>1716522
"I certainly believe that access to information is always helpful, General Ma-this - although I have made it a point in my career to try and avoid having my strategies dictated by magic."
>>
>>1716530
"Food is not something we lack in our realm, not to my knowledge. I'm sure we could organize grain shipments to be delivered to you, with neither cost nor strings attached.
Regarding your skepticism of magic, I wholeheartedly agree with you. But for the time being we have few other options."

"You're the same as me then. Magic can be useful if it provides an extremely tangible aid, as spatial does with transportation of smaller squads, but it is more useful to the survival of individual soldiers, not the tactic of the army as a whole.

Let's deal with the tangibles you spoke of just now - I will not lie, I am unsure of how many men the Imperials are capable of rallying, but your numbers are less than ideal. What we should focus on is propaganda. I understand your potential wariness in that, but it could be quite an effective tool to gain soldiers for your side, and it wouldn't be lying. From what you've told us, you've remained loyal through and through - we would just broadcast that using papers and posters where the Empire shields the eyes and ears of your people. It will be important to win the first few battles, as not to demoralize those currently standing with you, and the many others you speak of.

Food can be organized mostly on our part, as we are not suffering from a lack of it at the moment - we could also bring in our own smiths to work closer to the border. I'm unsure if you would want them here, we do not want to tarnish your reputation more than your enemies have by portraying your actions in such a negative light. Your metal will be useful, for sure. Cannons and the like could easily take down ships if we have enough.

As for strategy, you speak of a coordinated strike on the capital - we can discuss this later, but we need to know what we're up against in order to come up with a plan. Can you speak to the numbers of Imperial soldiers, any secrets known to you as far as tactics and squads go, or the numbers of Serene Celestials within your Celestial Pantheon?"
>>
>>1716549
Hershan has gotten noticeably tense after the food has been brought out.

"I-I agree with the food shipments. Hunger would cause a major eh..stake, in your plans. For this Strike, when's the soonest we could do it?
>>
>>1716571
"Our peacetime standing army numbers 120 000 fighting men. At least twice that many have been raised as levies by this point - between one and two hundred thousand men are deployed on your front, around a hundred thousand are supporting the Rhoznaxi on their fronts, the rest are in reserve, in secondary lines of defence, protecting the capital and key cities. There are concerns, from what I've heard, of the Akeshizu trying to invade our island holdings - I am sure that many resources are being spent on building up the fleet. I have recently heard of your own naval victory near Baodar-shi. A dominance by sea opens many option to us.
In regards to trade, it is possible for my forces to seize control over one or two of the nearest border fortifications - we will hold them for ourselves and will not let any foreign armies march through, but shipments of food for the people are perhaps something that will be accpeted.
Have you considered making use of your allies? Roggar is not the only nation in the Pantheonic Empire."
>>
>>1716612
"Ondalia could provide support, provided that they are swayed to the cause. Anything in particular from them, besides supplies?
>>
>>1716612
As Hershan said, the Ondalians are our breadbasket.
Other than that, the proposals by Hau Hai are things I believe we can safely promise on behalf of our masters.
A number of mages to help us communicate, grain shipments, some smiths and engineers to assist you with your iron, and assistance with printing and productions of pamphlets and similar stuff to help you spread your message.

If there is anything else we could offer you on behalf on our masters, do not be shy to speak up. We desire as little blood to be spilt between our people as possible."
>>
>>1716612
"Alright, considering our numbers, we need to figure out a strategy. How do you wish to go about this - as fast as possible, or as clean as possible? Because I'm not sure if time is on our side here. If Rhoznax catches wind of our involvement to a heavy extent, they'll be on our tails sure as a rooster crows in the morning."
>>
>>1716632
>>1716626
>>1716618
"The plan I propose, now that I've heard your ideas, is the following:
We will declare no open alliance or even an official truce with your side. We will seize the nearest border fortifications and hold them - your armies will not be allowed to pass, but your merchants will. We will conduct trade and you will indirectly aid our efforts through that trade - under the appearance of smugglers, if need be.
We will keep in secret communication with you by spatial means. We ask that any military operations you conduct against our Empire aim to cause as few casualties as possible - especially civilian ones. Your activity in the west, on land and sea, will draw the Imperial Armies' attention there, allowing our forces to grow. I will try to convince the Serene Celestials to support my cause as best as I can. If a chance to eliminate the Empress and her Court presents itself, I will act on it. If at either of these phases I require your aid, I will be in contact with you immediately."
"Is there anything else to add?"
>>
>>1716715
"I believe this agreement to be sufficiently beneficial to both our sides.
I see no problem with it, neither will our lords back home."
Extending his hand "As you say, 一言为定."
Turning to his fellow Roggarians "My wife taught me that phrase, she's from zhongqian you see." he explains with a shy smile.

>>
>>1716743
"A deal is struck" He says in Roggarian "As you say" shaking your hand
"As for the question of the tribesmen - over the past century and a half they've grown more "civilized" as those in the other provinces may call them - which is to say, adopting the newer technologies of the Empire, but they still hold to their traditions. The hillsmen live in the easternmost provinces of the Empire - in the early days, before Zhongian was fully unified, they were led to taking up such a way of life by frequent raids from centaurs and orcs. In periods of peace with those peoples some amount of cultural exchange occured - you can find some centaur and black orc communities in the region. The hillsmen have a proud history as warriors, defending their homeland and, through that, the rest of Zhongian - when the Great Wall was built many of them would man the posts along it, keeping us safe to this day. Yet the culture that they formed over two and a half centuries was not entirely abandoned. Some gradually moved into the lowlands, in places like Donghugong, while others still live the way their ancestors did. One group that lives in the southernmost edges of the mountains today have accepted the Anavarkist religion and have developed interesting new customs, a mixture of east and west.
The tribesmen are a people I respect and have good relations with - many have joined the ranks of my army so far and many more will do so in the near future."

Our expeditionary force into Zhongian has accomplished its mission and most of its members will be returning north.
While on the western front the situation has become more complex, another operation behind enemy lines is being planned in the east.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U9FzgsF2T-s

The details are being kept confidential for now so as not to alert the enemy to our plans, but what's been given to Roggarian military command is the following - a number of prisoners taken from the Battle of Seldabad, many of them previously presumed dead, are being kept in a location behind enemy lines that we will have the opportunity to strike at.
The operation is planned for launch around New Year's Eve - you can send characters/soldiers(make up some new ones if you have to, better to have more players involved rather than just spectating) on this mission - they will be gathering in Hasgaldam, from where they'll recieve briefing and begin the operation. Bring up to ten characters/units - if you plan on bringing more than one, it had better be elites, though.
We'll continue tomorrow(Saturday) around 1pm EST - have your agents participating in this mission ready by then. You can ask me to give you control of a hero/unit from an allied nation if you don't have anyone to send from your faction.

In a certain location in the city of Hasgaldam elite warriors, agents and lords from the Pantheonic Alliance are gathered for a secret meeting.
The issue at hand - the discovery of a prison camp in which the survivors of Seldabad are being held. Seated or standing, the diverse crowd that's been gathered is finally (somewhat) silent when a sharply dressed, but otherwise average-looking elvish man stands in front of them.
"Lords, Ladies, Sirs and Madames. I'm Dominion Intelligence. I ask for your attention."
"You all know that we've discovered a prison camp holding prisoners from our side. That's not all we know. We know it's exact locations, in southeastern Setyrias. We also know two more things. The prisoners will soon be transported south, to Hajatas - they will be taken to Kambor city, where the Vampire Lord Arthur Whitevayne resides, now an ally of Anavark - the exact purpose that these prisoners are to serve there is unknown to us. We have an opportunity - to free our brethren."

An old man with a cane speaks. He's got a scarred face, and his accent is thick, but he gets the point across.

"If they've got difficulties we should at least bother discussing them.

Sea is risky, allows for dragons, but also means greater maneuverability.

Land hasn't done well for us so far, and I don't believe it will either.

And Hajatas, well, is Hajatas. If the animals don't get us, I fear the vampire will.

I say we move when they're in the water, but that's just my read of the situation."
>>
>>1719532
"I must agree with this man, land will mean travelling across a desert, and the camp itself won't be easy to take either. We have a well-established and powerful navy in the east which we can use, and in Kambor, as the man says, if the Animals don't get us the vampire will. Not many expeditions have returned from Kambor."

The news we recieve say the armies on land are doing well, while the main fleet is encountering more issues with dragons having engaged them.
The Strike force is made up of thirteen fast ships, their speed enchanted by wind and water magic - the largest of them has a wide deck, on which several griffons are perched, ready to fly off into battle.
The Roggarians are on board two fast attack ships, outfitted with six cannons on each side, archers and mages on the forecastle and an aftcastle for a ballista.
The convoy is spotted - the winds and tides are in our favour and our ships are able to maneuver well to get in range to begin opening fire with their cannons - three escort ships down, another dozen to take care of! Aside from the war galleys that make up a large part of the Rhoznaxi fleet, we also see larger, carrack-type ships - capable of bearing more cargo and crew, our mages are able to sense more life signs from them - that's where the prisoners are!
Give me a round of 3v3 for ship engagements while we get in closer to begin personal actions.

+10 equipment +10 surprise +10 tactics -10 numbers

Our strike force is made up of elite crews able to load their cannons quickly, the ships are outfitted with highly skilled archers and mages - and the convoy is not guarded by any dragons as far as we can see! The element of surprise still working in our favour, we swiftly maneuver around the enemy, hitting them with broadsides, turning around so we can shoot them with the other side as well - within a matter of minutes all the escort ships are sunk and it's just the three carracks left - those we can not afford to sink - we must board them! We get in close, none of our ships having been sunk so far and begin our attack! The boarding ramps are extended and ropes to swing to the other side are prepared - those with ranged attacks begin performing them from the decks of our ships while others go into the melee.
The two ships on which the Roggarian fighters are will attack the same target

He wears plate armour in a style not too diffirent from that of Roggarian armor, with a red silken sash across his shoulder. He puts aside a pipe, smoke rising from his nostdrils.
"Well hello there, chaps" He says in fluent Roggarian, his foot on the neck of a prisoner sprawled on the ground.
"Would be a shame if all these prisoners you want to rescue just...died, right when you've gotten so far, wouldn't it?"
"Mass combat has such great dangers involved, after all - you've probably seen for yourselves, been bitten by the flames" he smirks "So why don't we settle this like a Rog'gora, eh? Send your best fighter forward to face me, Emir Zoubrion Harakond. Win and the prisoners are yours. Lose and, well, you'll have to fight for them. Try to attack me unfairly now and they just die - along with all of you."

Persephone lies outstretched above the boat.

Persephone hovers above the boat, her purpose fulfilled. She was sent by Jac to help those of Erden as a favor, and it has been fulfilled, but not without a cost. Vy is dead. Another demon she thought of as family, gone. And what was she doing? Getting herself hurt? Trying and failing to melt cannonballs? Accidentally burning the ship in such a way it could have hurt the prisoners?

She was in prison, for over half a century... she had lost track of time. Who is to say she didn't lose track of more? A picture of her brother comes to mind - someone she tried to kill, someone who as much as she hated to admit it, was family. Family that at her age, was more precious to her than anything. She spots Lord Nomin down below, the Erdens giving hugs.

"I'm sorry."

The good news is that from this height, tears dropping into water can be attributed to the few clouds drifting overhead. It does nothing but harden her heart against the Duke Whitevayne more.

Persephone lists lazily, and thinks on these things.

The mission was a success - many valuable prisoners were recovered, the strike force was able to pull out safely with minimal losses incurred.
Our armies on land engaged enemy forces in small battles that led to victories, but we did not overxtend ourselves - we baited the enemy into attacking us when we'd dug in on new forward positions. The eastern fleets' battle against their enemies were more inconclusive, but it served the purpose of causing a distraction.

It's the 1st of Gyolan, 814 now - winter has set in and the mountain front is too snowy for us to advance.

Breaking out of his cell Herwig sees the dead bodies of many lizards and Roggarians, in the the crowd he notices Lord Nothos covered in blood and sitting on the floor over some lizards dead body. He goes to greet him but before he has a chance the dwarf notices him and calls him out "Ah, Herwig! Im glad to see you alive, i would hug ya but sa you can see im a bit soiled. Come on now, you father is waiting for you up on the deck."

Hearing this Herwig makes his way quickly to the deck where he first sees Lord Nomin and his son embracing each other and soon after spots his father laying on the deck with a Drana priestess next to him. "Father!" he calls out, he kneels before his father and notices a gaping wound in his abdomen.
"Ah Herwig, my son i am so glad to see you alive and well." the old man squeezes out, "Im afraid i don't have much more time in this world."
"What does he mean?" ,Herwigs turns to the priestess.
"It's too late my lord, the damage on his internal organ is too great he is beyond salvation." the priestess replies.
"Herwig, you have to let me go to Yvonne and my ancestors in whose mighty company i shall not now feel ashamed. But you my son, you have to return to your brother and mother" with those words the eyes of Simeonall, monk of the pantheon and Ludolf von Erden closed for the last time.

A scream escaped Herwigs mouth as looked over his fathers dead body, a scream that seemed to last an eternity.

He bows before the Lord representitives.

After what seemed like an eternity apart, Zalian and Calian were finally reunited, they joined together for a hug, tears streaming from their eyes. Then Zalian looks at Calian and says, "Was getting caught part of your plan?" Calian replies, almost naturally, "Of course." They begin to carry Calian away, heavily wounded, he'll likely survive but it'll be extremely painful. As they are carrying him, Zalian remarks, "You've grown bigger", "For you, is the Branch of Divata Safe?" Calian replies.
Zalian, reassuringly, "I had the thought of bringing it, however I decided against it, Sebastien's dead however, gave his life trying to save you. The Rhoznaxi expected at least one of the divatan's in the wreckage anyway brother, I'll take you to a good Priest of drana and you'll be fixed right up! You'll be on the frontlines in hopefully a few months, its been so long since we've seen each other." Calian, feeling a mixture of sadness for sebastien, and happiness that he'll survive says, "They wanted us to swear fealty to Anavark, I didn't refuse, I took the extra week. The other zealots and priests took death, knowing they'll be in heaven. In that week I felt as if I betrayed the pantheon, as if I failed you..." Zalian, giving a grin, "Maybe you have, maybe you haven't, who knows? Only Juras does, let's get you back."

A grim view in and around Gobbopolis' Outer City.
A breached wall, blood on the streets, corpses piled up as tall as some houses. The Inner Walls - standing tall and strong.
Over the past day a battle had been fought here - thousands of bandits, mercenaries, Petrekshani, Remnant Dawn, Iron Legion remnants and whatnot. Undead legions, golem forces, dark elf sorcerers - a fiercome force indeed. Had everything worked as they'd planned it the city would be burning, the Pillar of Heaven would be destroyed, the treasury - pilfered. And yet they could not make it there. Thousands had fallen on both sides - they knew they had a chance at winning, but it was a slim one. The fact that their plans, everything they'd been building up for half a year, had been no secret to the defenders made it slimmer.
The corpse of a dragon, riddled with hundreds of crossbow bolts. Squads of goblin, centaur and black orc soldiers roaming around, putting down any survivors. Mor's realm would be filled today with new arrivals. The Attack on Gobbopolis had failed to reach its goal, stopped midway by the thick walls and reinforced garrison of the Inner city.
A valiant attempt, some may think. A fool's erand. A madman's quest.

A much delayed announcement from the Master of Law!
“40 years ago, a craven hound by the name of Leon Yalmfrid, attempted to rob the Knights of Juras of an enormous sum of money. 20 million marks! Borrowed in the name of the Order from unsuspecting bankers!
He and his co-conspirators, all from his own family, then attempted to flee to the Dominion, no doubt to spend it all on wine and whores. But our good friends there, the noble High Elves, quickly had them apprehended and brought back to us in chains.

Placed on trial, the criminals were found guilty on all charges. The remaining money was all returned to it’s rightful owners, the property and possessions of the thieves was sold of to cover the remainder of the sum, and the whole lot was sentenced to hard work in the sulphur mines in Flamkor until they’d managed to earn enough money for covering the accumulated interest.
For the main conspirator, a life in imprisonment was added on top of this.

All hail Juras, his will be done!”

You reach Lakton in the early morning of the 13th, the great Cathedral of Zemel towering over the city walls. You head to the Cathedral cutting your way trough the commonfolk that has crowded most of the streets, and as you soon reach the courtyard of the Cathedral you see a large number of nobles and priests not only from Roggar but the whole Holy Pantheonic Empire, notable among them being the Roggarian Pontiff, the Norse King and his family and Empress Wave. The priestess of Domna finish the preparations of the deceased, the body of Herzog Ludolf is brought to the Cathedral and laid atop the center altar. The Roggarian Pontiff performs the funeral rites as the closest to the departed in life make their way into the Cathedral and say their goodbyes, shed their tears, and pray to Mor for the dead.

As the day winds down and the last goodbye is said, the body is carried by kin along the crowd-lined streets, to its final resting place. As the procession leads the body of Herzog Ludolf trough the crowded streets to the entrance of the cemetery, the populace wails its mourn and sorrow as the their dead liege passes by. The leading train stops in front of the family cemetery. The crowd grows silent, all that is hear are the odd whisper or child's questions as the dead's kin and closest friends continue alone. They carry Ludolf, finally reaching the place where the body will be buried and lay the body to rest bellow it's stone effigy.

As night comes the noble guests flock to the Palace, where the great feast will be held. The guests are greeted by the twins Gerwig and Herwig with Moodini by their side.

They give out a speech to all present and announce the beginning of the feast!

You can see that the feast is quite lavish and that expenses have not been spared. Appetizers and light drinks are brought out as the feast begins.
You can already see the Norse King consuming copious amounts of alcohol even before the appetizers reach his table.

Now lords of Roggar its time to celebrate a great life that has passed. Eat,drink, dance and sing to your content for tonight we celebrate the life of Ludolf von Erden!

When you ask the lion this question he somehow gestures you to follow him, how a lion gestures that you have no idea. You decide to follow him and he leads you to a part of the palace completely devoid of any life, you could only faintly hear the music coming from the direction you came from. Suddenly the lions stops and turns and before you have a chance to react the swipes you off your feet.
He brings his teeth close to your face and roars out.
"Never speak about me again, they must never know about me. If you try and tell anybody about this they will never believe you, but i will find out and hunt you down."
After that outburst the lion returns to the feast not even sparing you a glance when you eventually recover from the shock and return to the feast.

You two have a grand time as you handle the drinks in an unroggarian fashion, by which i mean you don't get absolutely shitfaced after a couple of drinks.

============================

The winner of the fisticuffs tournament was in fact Prince Lolgaic also know to us as that smug dwarf. Slowly the night comes to the end as the nobles retreat to their residence. That all changed when Calian was packing his belongings in his room and suddenly felt a presence behind him. He turned and saw none other than Moodini himself. Again the lions roared out at him.

"Heh, i got that gobbo good didn't i? He stepped on my tail last night when he was spazzing out. Anyways, i hope that what happened last night will be kept confidential,no?"

You end up roaming the streets of Lakton which are mostly empty and quiet and with a disguise what little people there are out there don't recognize you. You end up sitting in some square with a statue raised to some long gone leader. You start singing into the night and are surprised to find a man stand rather close to you. You can't quite figure out his facial features, its too dark for that with only the moon allowing you too see glimpses of the man. He speaks in a very odd and somewhat archaic accent to you, but he is pleasant enough to talk to as he compliments your singing. It would seem like he doesn't recognize you either in such lighting. Soon the sun would come up so you had to depart with the man before the commonfolk wake up and see you. You almost forgot to ask the man his name but his reply was cut short by a rooster notifying everyone that the sun is in fact rising.

As the morning sun slowly rises so do you, slowly you get ready to depart from Lakton and return to your homes. From the Cathedral you hear songs being sang as the part of the morning mass, bringing you in a sense of comfort and easiness rarely found in these times. From above you hear the clapping of wings and as you crane your heads you see a dozen or some Pegasi riding across the sky for many of you this is the first time you have seen these creatures roaming across the sky. I hope that after you leave you will cherish the memories of Lakton and the man who ruled over it for so many years for this was his last farewell, his last hoorah as he leaves this world and joins his ancestors and family in Heaven.

The 21st of Gyolas. Elsewhere it may be warming, the first signs of a new spring, but not on the islands.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3SAMHhQZotQ

The preparations were done, the boat sitting on the dock. While it wasn't particularly sunny, Jac didn't mind. The waters of the islands were never particularly warm, but it was winter. The waters were icy, and the clouds meant that the weather required hats, gloves, and whatever else. But Jac was warm. He was wearing a thick furred coat, one he had prepared himself by hunting some wild war goats on the island. And besides that, he was doing what he should have done a long, long, time ago.

The child was onboard, along with the mother. He made sure they were wrapped up there, swaddled in a blanket. The Hawthorne Heater was made for situations like this, he reasoned. The ice outside the cabin masked the warm interior as they slept there, knowing only a bit of where they were going. They were destined for other lands - warmer lands. While he smiled, his face felt numb. Uncomfortably so. He wrapped his scarf further up, around his nose. He still needed time for a moment - time to think. To say goodbye.

As he turned to the streets of Mukava, figures appeared in the distance. Carrying bags, they were dressed in fine textiles, so many that one would think they were merchants. Jac supposed they were, of a sort. It was the figures of his lieges, Lord Kogal Hawthorne, and Lady Rosalinde Hawthorne, nee Nomin. It had taken time, but of course they had to write some messages and leave them there, before sneaking out. No one could know they were leaving, at least not yet.

A few exchanged pleasantries were had, but nothing serious. Helping them into the boat, Kogal asked what he considered his great-nephew for help. The boy was young, not as young as Plaeg... would have been.

"You okay, Uncle?"

The words of the boy broke through his stupor.

"Yes... let's just get this cargo onboard, shall we?"

And with that they set off, to Eigersil, once they were finished with the loading. The sun was finally overhead, casting everything in its light.
>>
And as it did, Jac felt something go in his chest, collapsing to the ground. A bird came from the skies, or so he thought, as he lay there.

It spoke.

"Jac, don't die. Please."

It was Persephone, cloaked and sobbing, carrying a strange bundle. A child.

As the sun beat down on the boat, the grizzled sailor smiled one last time. His skin, textured like sun.

As you enter the Western Holds of the Empire, you see quite a bit of nature, though the experience is somewhat dimmed by early Abadid's chilly weather. The grains and fields so familiar in central Roggar mixed with the coastline gives the sense of a home away from home, and as you approach the city, you see more.

Sights of reds, greens, yellows - all forms of plantlife mixing in with the roads and various buildings that dot the streets of the city of Thornebush as you approach. The city is painted in a way, with street art and various monuments being situated on many streets. Artisans and merchants, especially those dealing with textiles, deal with craftsmen and even priestly scholars, all set with the backdrop of the Charodeian and Domnan cathedrals looming over the city skyline.

Among the procession are various Norse noblemen, along with various sailors and students he taught over the years. Young men, most of them - all the older ones are off fighting the war, or worse.

As they march out, he is ushered into a plot atop a hill overseeing the rest of the city, especially the sea. The sun sets at long last upon the sea - and it is the last one Jac Dorsi, in any capacity, will see.

What happens next is a blur. A man with a mask on spills a drink over the Duke, which causes a scuffle when said man refuses to apologize (or so it seemed to the Duke), resulting in the tablecloth being pulled off, and all the fish landing on the vegan in the crowd - an elf. The elf screeches, punches the demon sitting next to her out of instict - of course this was Persephone, and thinking it's an assassin after her kid, kicks the woman in the gut, causing her to fall backwards and run into the large fountain of chocolate powered by mana sitting in the center of the room. The machine breaks, and everyone ends up covered in chocolate and smelling of fish.

A Roggarian funeral indeed. Long live Roggarian culture.

Of course, this wouldn't be the only event that month...
