/qst/ - Quests

You are Captain Dr Maximillion T Strongarm and everything hurts.

You were recently told by your shy nerd of a navigator that your temporary boss found out someone you rescued put a hit on your partner which ended with you getting stabbed by Mercury Seastone.

Which feels a little like slowly drowning if the seawater was also made of poison and burning you.

You also have a match this week against the champion but it still hurts to get up and you aren't sure how almost being assassinated in public looks.

It's starting to occur to you that you may not be perfect and there might actually be some difficulties on this voyage. Well that's what you get you guess.

>Time to train, if you arent strong enough now just MAXIMIZE MUSCLES.
>Work with maria on teamwork, we will need some secret skills
>Maybe Wreckasaurus will give you some moves, he's invested in helping you
>Do something unrelated to training, you still need to gather crew and you havent even tried yet, plus you should get to know Beef flank.

Honestly this is a very simple problem.

You got stabbed because you weren't good. Sure there were some weaknesses due to your fruit power and the like but if you were simply powerful enough these issues wouldn't come up.

There is that famous Yonko who can annihalate anyone with only minimum effort right? If you were like that then you'd be fine.

So thats the goal. But how should you go about it? Hmmm

>Clearly you need a special technique, something that when you yell outloud gets stuff done. Everyone has their signature move in wrestling but you don't.
>You just need more gutso! You can do good interference but you need that endurance training so you can stay up, you've gotten knocked out a lot recently.
>Improve your range abbilities, if your marksmenship with the hebi hebi is better youd be able to have a more flexible arrange of skills and it will be more difficult to corner you.
>You know what you dont use yet? Grapple moves

Your issue you think is you still fight mostly like you always did. A simple style of closing the opponents range and using heavy blows to limit the freedom of their limbs and thus weaken their blow strength and speed while taking advantage of your sheer size advantage.

However the weakness to that is that while it can limit mobile fighters you need that initial foothold. Min ran circles around you because he WAS running circles around you. You couldnt stop him and so he managed to hamper you without you really injuring him.

However if you increase your range youd be a more persistent threat and will be better able to control the flow of battle.

Plus you havent really taken advantage of the hebi hebi yet in all the ways it could. So you should work on that.

You go out of the hospital, sneaking down to the sewers till you reach the gym they have to train underground fighters.

You wind up your arm, swinging it just as you let lose 10 kgs, the weight flinging forward from your blow like a frisbee as it sails in the air into the other side of the shooting range.

You don't hear a explosion so much as a thud... which is a little disappointing dont big dramatic shots have big flashy effects?

Oh well, you go to retrieve the weight, though you cant find it on the floor, instead its in the wall.

Or rather there is a small hole where the ring went through right infront of a small dust pile.

A hole about 2 feet deep through concrete.

So it certainly has to be aimed carefuly but you are pretty sure anyone hit with this won't be using their bones in a while.

"Glad to see a brother out and about after a bad throwdown." You hear behind you, turning around to see the Wreckasaurus watching your performance. "I was worried you'd have to flake on the throwdown."

You shrug. "If I do not improve how am I supposed to expect to withstand problems in the future. I already almost died from that seastone and I shudder to think if I was alone at the time, or if there were more of them."

Wrecks nods. "Very true, the temple was always about power over everything." You might have misheard it but he seemed a little bitter when he said it.

You nod. "Before you reach the stars you much have the strength to jump to the sky. Power provides the means. Also if people are trying to kill me I'd rather not die."

Wrecks nods. "Can't argue with that brother, if someone is pulling out the poisoned seastone then there is a invested attempt to stop you. Doubt their try to crash in on wreckmania though." The man nods pondering behind his shades. "Let me slam this by ya, why you even staying down here in the sewers. The Temple isn't that big on tournaments."

You shrug. "I sortof helped a enemy mobster by accident, I have to pay the Morans off for the trouble."

The man shakes his head. "But why are you HERE? Why you chillin down in New Yorki when the only stylins are criminal shit? Why not go to a different island?"

You shrug as you resume your throwing practice. Tossing more weights out to better hone the aim of the attack. "I was looking for more crew members, two people, no matter how powerful, can not sail alone. The sheer amount of hands on deck needed to guide a boat means if i want to get anywhere I need more people."

Wrecks nods. "I can dig that, so how did that go."

You pause. "I got a camel."

"A cam... from that Crazy Hassan guy?" Wrecks asks as you turn around.

"Yeah actually, do you know him." You say as the man shrugs.

"I don't think anyone really KNOWS Hassan, I met him though." Wrecks said as you raise a eyebrow, huh your a bit suprised.

You walk over and retrieve your weights, you think that was enough training but where are you going to do your recruiting.

You turn to Wrecks. "Well who would you recomend on my team."

The man thinks. "I suppose Captain Clark, he was a marine captain who I tangled with a few times, about a year ago though he just, abandoned post and hides away nearby."

You blink. "Why would a excaptain work with a pirate crew, and if he would why would he work with mine and not yours."

Wrecks sighs. "When you fall you fall hard brother. Clark isnt the man he used to be and I don't think he's that picky on his sides. However as for why he isn't with me... well there is some bad blood between our crew. I don't hold it over the guy you do what you must in the sea but some of my crewmembers... You nod, "Sure I'll go see him."

Wrecks hands you instructions as you head off, moving the sewer grate as your rise street level.

You wind down the polluted alleyways of New Yorki, into a clearly dangerous side of town.

And you say that after living in a sewer that holds a blood pit.

You progress further down the area before you here a click, a shotgun pressed against the back of your head.

Which i mean, you dealt with before but its a bit unexpected.

"Turn around real slow." You hear a rasping breath say as you comply, hands in the air.

You know, when most people are injured in the stories it never... affects anything? Their prosthetics are better then the original, glorious high tech displays of cyberware or a mastery of ki that shows they cant truely be impaired by their weakness.

Look at Miykuk she has poor eyesight and yet she still is as intelligent and literate as anyone. Though her sports skills are subpar.

Clark, however, does not have that glitzy romanticism, no shiny robotic metal leg. In fact no any leg, his pants tied in a knot over the stump of his right leg, the former admiral leaning on a crutch as he stars at you through a single eye. The wound didn't make the shotgun any less steady and you for once aren't confident you can dodge it point blank.

"Now what is a...whatever the fuck you supposed to be? Some bald ass gorrilla? Point is why you in my turf?"

Go-gorrilla? Well you do have swole arms. "I was told you may be looking for a new ship, one that isn't marine affiliated?"

The gun doesn't lower. "Maybe I am, but who the fuck are you to be that ticket outta here?"

>Do you SEE these muscles sir?
>Well I am desperate for crew members and your a one legged hobo, I think we are equally desperate right now.

You frown. "That's impossible. I don't actually KNOW anything about you, how am I supposed to try to convince YOU to join my ship if I'm not even convinced I want you on it."

Clark thinks about the question before tossing the shotgun to the side. "Fair enough, if you were after my head or the type to double cross me, you'd have simply told me what I wanted to hear to get me to drop my guard."

You raise a eyebrow despite yourself. "You dropped the gun, how is your guard not down."

Clark smiled at that. "That just shows how little you know me."

The man sits on a upturned trash can, lighting a ciggerette.

"You know those will kill you." You say as he blows a smoke ring.

"Good, nothing else has." Clark says. Cheery. "Anyway I suppose I should apologize for threatening to kill you by answering your question. The answer is two fold. One I cant work with someone who middles around, indecision will get you killed, especially given my next criteria.

I dont care if its morals or mutal goals but whoever I sail with has to be willing to help me do one task. The whole reason I am not a marine anymore in the first place."

You blink. "That's a bit dramatic, what is the goal anyway."

"I am going to kill Admiral Wukong."

You try to hide your shock, then fail. "Wukong? You have beef with The General of Traitors?"

You don't have to ask who Wukong is, you know who he is. Everyone does.

You are not a good person, you aren't BAD but you DID throw a bunch of people into a bonfire to burn them to death.

Moran is certainly not a good person, Wreck's history of conquests while impressive, certainly isn't spotless morally.

Miyuki... well she's harmless, you don't think she has the killers instinct but she was willing to help you throw those people in the fire so even SHE'S not innocent. Even though she's such a frail flower.

Point is, life isn't black and white. People do not fit a clearly defined paradigm of good and evil.

Admiral Wukong however... He IS a bad person.

Kodoku Monogatari, was a bandit on the red line, instigating rebellions, arson, and murder then using the gold to instigate more conflicts. When finally captured by Admiral Zhu he reported he did it simply to see what would happen.

He was the type of person who Impel down was made for. However the goverment made a World Millitary Draft and Kodoku and many others were simply pardoned.

As long as they were on their side, the marines didn't care what they did, soon a man on the most wanted list became a admiral.

"What do you even want him dead for." You ask as the man gestured to the left, his leg stump waving in the air.

"See that, Kodoku did that to me while I was chasing him. But I was trying to kill him so that is fair. It's what he did as Admiral that can't be forgiven. And if your serious about me being on your side you have to be willing to go down that rabbit hole with me. Otherwise you'd just be a glorified ferry to me."

Clark smiles wryly. "Granted I'd appreciate someone doing that while I can still use these lungs but a man consumed by revenge isn't exactly a reliable crew member. I'd maroon me if I was in your position. Hence my terms."

That's... fair. Honestly youd probbably have declared revenge on the minmax brothers yourself if they didnt mysteriously die.

But directly rebelling against the world goverment's a big deal.

You blink shaking your head. "Hold on I know why I shouldn't help you but not why Id want to... besides killing Kodoku which is it's own reward but necessarily something I need YOU to help me with."

Clarkson sighed. "A little rational for someone I pointed a gun at." The man says as he thinks...

"Honestly of you asked a few years ago Id have a better answer... id have also had you hung cause your a pirate bit Id be able to answer the question." Clark said, staring at thr smoggy sly with one good eye.

"Honestly I am not the fighter I was and I doubt three years if boot camp will clean the rust off my sea legs... leg, singular." Clark said correcting himself. "But its not like I need three fingers to squeeze a trigger." Clark said pointing to his claw. "Plus i worked five years as a naval instructor and I think teaching the pirates is the same." The man stated nodding. "Also I am a exmarine that knowledge may be helpful. I can still read a seachart."

You stare at the shotgun on the floor... its kinda ordinary, but given what you know of the world, run of the mill designs are usually reserved for basic training, with as your skills progress more complicated styles and tricks naturally emerge as you get weapons to use them.

Like three sword style, or a staff that then controls the weather. Or even your various discovered ways to optimize your hebi hebi fruit.

So it's odd its just... a normal millitary model... unless...

"Does the gun transform or something?" You ask trying to lift the gun before drawing your hand back. It... hurt. Like cast iron on a stove hurt.

"No it's just a normal gun." Clarkson said picking the gun up. "It's loaded with rock salt in the shells though, even the barrel has some salt crusted on it by now."

That explains it. While its no seastone salt does contain properties of the sea. And to some degree the curse of the devil fruit affects all users in even its milder incarnations. The most famous example being salt and water outright nullifying some of the more powerful skills.

But if someone knew what they were doing you could probably make a salted weapon more dangerous then a normal bullet to people like you. If you got hit with that gun at that range... well youd have been back in the hospital.

Again.

You think about the situation. Honestly you don't know how well he and Miyuki will get along, and it does seem dangerous...

But the bonds of nakama and being a crew member aren't strictly the same. You suppose there is nothing FORCING you to keep working with him.

"So you are ex marine, besides your revenge scheme would you mind facing the world goverment if the heat gets on us?"

Clarkson sighs. "If I was able to leave the marines on amicable terms maybe I wouldn't, but the whole system is rotten. You'd probbably only find fifteen or so people in it that I would mind sparing."

"That better include me old man." You hear a man taunt as a burly figure walked into the alleyway, muscles bulging through their marine uniform as rifle barrels surround you.

"Crusher?" The man says recognizing the musclebond figure. "What is the meaning of this?"

The man shrugged. "Have to take you in after how you left. Attempted murder of a marine officer is serious, and you are trying to do it again. Order came straight from Maineford, sorry pops." Crusher says, stretching. "Course if you surrender quietly lot less bruises on the both of us."

Great you get a new recruit and almost immediately someone is trying to arrest him.

You decide to go for the big guy, these watching stuff is fine for other people but your a man of action.

Also he has more muscles then you and you can't let that slide.

You charge the man, the musclebond man ducking under your swing and delivering a straight shot to your chest.

You back up from the force of the blow, muscles or no, this man is plenty good as a boxer.

He's already on to our kicking ability. Betting on a single trick isn't likely to work.
On the other hand, boxers like to clinch, so lure him into it then suplex his ass.

Step on his foot then change our weight to trap him there.

Alternatively, do a small plate on the end of our foot right before we kick him to break his leg.

You kick Crusher again, working on low kicks that trip up Crusher.

The man stumbles, his legs bruisning under your attacks as you see his arm reach back, you block just in time to avoid a headshot hook, the man knocking you back as he begins his own onslaught.

The main flaw with the kicks is they sacrifice your own balance. While you are currently fine dodging and weaving Crusher's fists your arms are a little bloodied and you wont really be able to kick without sacrifcing your own agility, thus forcing you to wait between blows.

However his balance is great and while his legs are as battered as your arms, neither of you have taken a signifigant slug yet.

>Keep the leg shots up.
>Go for the belt, specifically Crush crusher's... crushers
>You know what will stop him? A punch in the face.

You tire under Crushers blows, the marine smiling as you slowly lose ground.

Snarling you shoft forward, closing the slight distamce between the two of you as you lift up your knee.

>Hi everyone my name is mimikyu. I want you to know that at MNIM Interactives ir Mimi we dont support violence. The male nuts are a sacred and precious part of the human anatomy and due to the graphic depictions of violence this scene has been removed. Instead please look at this Awoo. Have a good day.

Crusher slumps to the floor his face landing in a puddle on the alleyway, foam spilling from the mans mouth as the other marines backed up for a bit, before running away.

"Well that takes care of that." Clarkson said spitting on the floor, a small pile of twitching limbs behind him, unconcious marines squirming in various stages of agony... h-how? You missed it when you were getting slugged im the face.

"So what we do with em? If we leave em here theyll just die." Clarkson said... which while it will help remove witnesses kay start a investigation you dont wanna deal with.

After all its not like you got a easy excuse here.

>save them, stow them somewhere they wont get shivved at
> kill them
>leave them to die
>kill them and chase the deserters1

They might get robbed blind but at least they'll be alive, and curring some favor with the locals is always nice.

You give the options some thought and... well they probbably suffered enough... especially crusher. Plus some of them escaped and you dont want that target on your back.

You check their wallets, pocketimg a few beris as you stash them in the dumpster. Woth the shelter from the acid rain they wont drown to death... or dissolve to death.

Drownssolve?

The point is you manage to spare the group apl you had to do was beat em to mostly death rather then kill them. No complicated puzzle required.

"So yeah." Clarkson said as he brushes his hands...hand off his trousers. "May have forgotten to mention that I was a wanted man. Thought youd not mind given that your a pirate."

You shrug as you flip open a sewer grate. So... why were they all injured like that?" You ask as the man snorts.

"You destroy a mans nuts amd are gonna preach bout violence?" The ex marine chides as he drops down the grate, ignoring the ladder and landing perfectly fine. "Weirdo"

You sigh using the ladder cause you dont need to impress people when your built like a galleon.

"So... what now?" Clarkson asks. "I was just going to spend the day making bombs. But your in charge now."

Wait bombs?

You shrug, "I don't know about you but I have a small match I need to do to get in practice for the big event this weekend. I cant just knee people in the gonads to win at bloodball."

Clarkson scowls. "You play that game? Never understood the appeal of sports."

"If I don't play it Moran will toss me into the ocean and I'll die." You state plainly.

Clarkson raised a eyebrow on his blinded eye. "I guess I understand more."

You wave your new partner goodbye as you head off to your match, the stands empty as their arent any matches running today... Which is just what you need for practice to get back in shape.

You sit in the rowboat which takes you to the isolated basketcage, a soft snoring can be heard as you see Miyuki curled up in front of you.

"No... Mine..." Miyuki mutters in her sleep. Seems like she has a bad idea.

>Awkward pat, there there

You pat Miyuki the woman twitching as wakes up.

"Nnnn... who is that? A gorrilla?" Miyuki mutters as she puts on her glassesn "Ha, t-the gorrilla turmed into Captain!" Miyuki muttered as you shake your head.

Oh long is she going to make that mistake? You begin rowing the boat paddling to the center of the ring as you climb up.

Sitting on the other side of the ring was wrecks the warlord hummimg a ditty as he notices you .

"Hey nephew... and the camel rider girl. You both know you camt just go to slam town if you arent in the shap to throw down with those brothers from the under mother."

Basically he wont let you in the contest if youll just job it.

"So im gonna have you do a practice slam with onna my dogs to show you can handle it. How you wanna slug it nephew"
