You are James Baker, a wild card according to the strange man known as Igor. Over the past few days you have moved to the town of Birchland with your Great Uncle Carson and started school. You've started to learn more about the town and made a small number of friends. School quickly got weird as you learned of a rift leading to another world that you believe is tied to your own.

More worrying was during an assembly was the green smoke flowing from The Rift and the strange, impervious wooden door within. Students and teachers at your school have begun acting stereotypical and forming cliques. The cause of people acting like caricatures was Shadows ripping something out of copies in The Rift.

With the Stone Door open all that is left is to get up and there and close The Rift. But that didn't stop you and the others from investigating what turned out to be an effigy of sorts with Shadows fighting all around it. You ended up getting overwhelmed and had to split up. On top of that you are currently unsure of where you are in the massive jungle.

Walking off in a random direction is a bad idea, you need some frame of reference for where you are. Looking up at the canopy gives you a hopefully not bad idea.

You find a tree with low enough branches that extends high up and start the climb. It's been awhile since you climbed any trees, but these trees are filled with branches for easy footholds and pulling yourself up. After a few minutes you eventually are able to force your way through the canopy and view the jungle.

It looks like you ran off to the South-West. In the distance you can see the land getting higher and the smoke stack still there. And the walls still rising above everything else. There isn't any obvious signs of the others, so all you can do for them is hope they are safe.

Slowly you start through the jungle, making sure to keep yourself on the right path by marking the way this time. Not having to worry about Shadows right on your trail makes it easier, but the brush is thick and is slowing you down. Trish really made things easier, but she isn't here right now.

As you continue further, you hear a noise. Looking around you locate the sound coming from off to your East. It sounds like something is loudly making its way through the Jungle, but you can't make out anything else.

James: HP: 39% SP: 75%

It could be one of the others, but if it is a large Shadow you are on your own. As you listen it seems like the sound is coming your way.

Now is not the time to take risks. Instead of running you get low to the ground and hide in one of the many bushes around you, making sure you aren't seen by whatever is coming.

As the sound gets louder, it becomes more clear. Something is hitting on the trees, hard. What comes into view is Martin, but he doesn't look too well. His glasses are off and he is wildly swinging around the police baton. Finally as he gets close to your bush he stops, out of breath. "Fucking Shadows..."

It doesn't look like any Shadows are close by, so you stand up. "Martin are you okay? It is me, James."

There is a sigh of relief from Martin, who drops onto the ground. "Yeah, fuck man. That got really bad there. Glasses are in my shirt, but I didn't want to risk breaking them."

"What happened to you? I just got chased by some Shadows," You ask as he takes a minute to catch his breath.

Martin stands up slowly, "Same, but I fell and rolled down a hill. Glasses are bent, but not broken."

You help him up, the two of you both pretty banged up. "Are you good to keep going? I marked the way so I know where I'm going now."

"Yeah man. The girls are fine, right?" Martin asks, putting his glasses back on.

It was lucky of the two of you to find each other, but Trish or Zoey might not be so lucky. Will they really be okay all on their own?

"I'm worried about them, but who wouldn't be?" You ask quietly.

"Good point. Let's just get back to the stairs," Martin says as he fixes his helmet.

While the two of your still aren't being attacked you have Atticus heal both of you some. Martin nods in thanks as you keep on in the direction you are sure the stairs are in.

As you keep going, the trees around you start to look familiar. Not that you are walking in circles, but you are sure you've been here before. After a few more minutes Martin points out a trail that was likely made by Shadows going in the direction you are.

Following along it makes it easier to cover ground, but the two of you are on edge about Shadows jumping out of nowhere. The canopy starts to open up, giving you sight of the smoke off in the distance again. Finally you start to walk along the stream made by bursting the damn and you can see the large mountain in the middle of the otherwise flat area of jungle. "Finally made it," Martin says with a smile.

You and Martin both round the corner to get to the stairs and see Zoey is already there, sitting on the first step. "Hey! Is Trish here?" Martin asks.

Zoey shrugs, "Haven't seen her since the Shadows mobbed us. Glad to see you two didn't get fucked up too much."

"But we need to find M- I mean Trish. She might be seriously hurt or something," Martin says, already turning around.

"She is a grown woman and knows survival stuff. If she doesn't show up for awhile we can look, but we should just wait for now," Zoey says.

You place a hand on Martin's shoulder, "We don't even know where to start looking. We just have to trust Trish to get back here."

Martin pulls away from you and looks at his phone, "Fine, but in the meanwhile I'm going to work on something."

"If it really means that much to try and find her you could go yourself," Zoey suggest with a grin.

"I'm not crazy, we can all just sit here and wait," Martin says, not looking up from his phone.

Zoey rolls her eyes as you walk over, "So what happened on your end?"

"Just got chased and lost," You say like this is the weather.

"Lucky, I ended up running back here without meaning to and have been stuck waiting for you all to get back," Zoey says before groaning.

You force a smile, "Well I guess we are waiting more."

"Just tell me if something happens," Zoey says, closing her eyes and laying across one of the steps.

There isn't much to do on the side of a cliff, but at least you are safe. Looking out over the jungle below you hope wherever Trish is things are going well.

After some time of sitting there and getting to recover some, you hear panting from the way you enter the small cut out of the cliff. Looking over you see Trish emerge from the bushes, her outfit with small cuts in a few places, "I'm... glad everyone else is safe," she says as she drops to her knees.

As Zoey is waking up, you and Martin run over, "Are you okay?" Martin asks.

The woman rises to her feet and waves off Martin, "Oh yes I'm fine, just tired from running."

"Where did those cuts come from?" Zoey asks as she walks over.

Trish dusts herself off as she looks over at Zoey, "A few Shadows on my way here, but I took care of them. No sign of the game camera still."

"Well first we should make sure everyone is healed first. As much as we can," you say holding up a hand.

"Fine, let's just do it fast," Zoey says.

Atticus and Nevermore yet again heal the party for a large amount, leaving you and Zoey mostly tapped. "I wish I could help with the recovery, I'll bring more first-aid if we don't close this tonight," Trish says once you both are done.

Martin steps up to the stairs and shines his phone's light in, "I can't see the top of these."

Trish takes out a glow-stick and starts to walk up, "Well we should start moving then."

Everyone starts up the stairs, they just keep going up into the darkness. Thankfully the phones don't seem to lose battery in here, but Trish insist on keeping her glow-stick stuck in her belt. Going higher and higher your legs feel like they might fall off. "I just looked back, we aren't trapped in some loop," Martin says, fatigue in his voice.

"Just how far do we have to go to kick this thing's ass?" Zoey complains as you keep going.

"It can't be that much farther," Trish says, you hope she is right.

After walking for another length of time you can see a faint light up ahead, "Almost there!" Trish calls back to Martin, who has fallen behind by this point.

You emerge from the dark stairs, only to have more jungle around you. But this jungle is different, for one there is a heavy fog on the ground. Another thing you notice is that in the trees there are ruins with trees growing out of them. "Ruins! Really?" Martin gasps, half in shock and half out of breath.

Trish takes a few steps forward, wiping her hand through the dog, "This isn't just fog."

Zoey raises an eyebrow, "What do you mean by that?"

"It's clouds, just look up," Trish says.

You look up and your eyes go wide. The sky above you is a bright green light, but not a cloud is there. Looking across the jungle you can see multiple splotches of clouds along the ground. There also seems to be a stone pathway around the stairs and on the ground.

"We should check out some of the ruins. Odds are something is in them," You say as you start to walk over.

"Yeah. Oh and you know technically fogs are clouds, right?" Martin asks Trish.

"I just meant that our fog is what used to be our clouds," She says, catching up with you.

"Cram the nerd talk and say what is in those ruins," Zoey says.

The entrance takes you under the root system of a tree into a large, chamber. The room is almost empty, except for a pair of human hands cupping a small amount of sparkling water. Martin is taking various pictures and mumbling to himself about architecture. "That water sure does look weird," Zoey says, looking down at the hands.

Trish sighs, "Whatever it is we should probably leave it alone, who knows how long it has been here?"

The rest of the chamber is some kind of stone bricks and roots breaking through the walls. As you start to walk back to the entrance there is a crashing noise, and the light from the entrance goes out. "What the hell!" Zoey yells.

Using phone light you can see something stone fell over the entrance. Everyone has their light sources out, but you can't find an obvious way out. "Shit man, are we trapped in here?" Martin asks, worry in his voice.

"If we remain calm I'm sure we can find a way out of here," Trish says.

She is right, there has to be something you can do. The only hint you have for anything is those hands and that isn't much of one. Martin doesn't seem to be taking it well though, his breathing is pretty messed up.

Martin should be fine, you need to find a way out. While Zoey and Trish look around the now dark chamber, you take an empty water bottle from your pack. You carefully scoop the water up into the bottle, not much was in the hands in the first place.

The water still shines faintly in your water bottle, the phones giving it enough light to reflect you suppose. Looking at the hands you see something new that you couldn't with the water there, a handle. You reach down and give the handle a pull, half expecting some terrible trap, but nothing happens.

As you let go, everything starts to shake. "Oh God, we are gonna die!" Martin yells.

"What the fuck is happening?" Zoey asks as small rocks fall from the ceiling.

"There was a handle in the hands, so I pulled it!" You admit.

The sound of stone moving fills the chamber as a light starts to come from above. The opening grows, the entire roof of the chamber parting ways. Trish starts to climb one of the walls using the roots along it and shouts, "Before it closes again!"

Surprisingly, Martin is the second one out of the chamber, with you and Zoey getting out at the same time. "What close us in there anyways?" Zoey asks as you catch your breath.

"Whatever it was, I'm guessing it has something to do with that," Trish says, pointing at a pillar of light in the distance.

"That wasn't there earlier, was it?" Martin asks.

"No.." You say, trying to get a better look.

Across the sparse jungle and ruins, there is some hill giving even more elevation. That has to be a sign.

As the group readies for another walk you speak up, "Let's take it slow. We don't want to risk more fights than needed."

"A slower pace also means we can take in our environment better," Trish says as she leads the way.

You let Trish and Zoey take the lead to hang back with Martin. "You doing alright man?" You ask.

Martin sighs, "Sorry about that. I'm kinda claustrophobic. It hasn't been too bad before, but that was just closing walls away from a nightmare."

"Well we are back to the open skies for now. And just think how close we are to finally ending this," You say, patting him on the back.

"You're right, we are going to finish whatever is causing all this," Martin says with a smile.

Falling back in the line, you see Zoey is grinning about something. She doesn't give you the chance to ask though, as she goes back to her usual bored expression quickly. With the trees more spaced out it is harder to stay hidden, but Trish is keeping doing a good job of going brush to brush.

Getting closer to the pillar of light you are forced to stop. From one of the ruins there is the sound of snarling and growling, some kind of animal is in there. Zoey quickly runs past the entrance to the ruins, but the Shadow in there doesn't seem to notice. With a thumbs up from her the rest of you are able to sneak by without getting noticed.

Finally you reach the hill, which you see now is more of an extended cliff. The main part of the plateau you are on ends, but where the pillar is coming from a strip of land continues to hang over the edge. "Whatever is over this bump has got to be important," Trish says before leading you all over.

Climbing over the hill takes some effort, but a ways up stone stairs start to form. As you step onto the stairs you can hear a chanting further up. After a few more minutes of climbing you finally reach the top. A great beam of green light is shining just off the edge of the pillar, but what has your attention is right in front of you.

A stone altar, with a robed figure standing on the other side of it from you. The figure is chanting some language you don't understand, but from their outwardly held arms you see their skin is that of a human's.

It is time to finally get some answers. You have to raise your voice as a strong breeze blows from the pillar of light, "What is going on here?"

"You really think we can talk with this person?" Martin asks you in a hushed tone before the robed person can respond.

The arms of the figure shoot down to their side and the pillar of light thins until it is gone completely. From the robed figure you can hear muttering. As the wind dies down you can hear the.. voices. Its like a boy and girl are speaking at the same time, "Breaking from their places, we must put them back."

Trish steps forward, "Are you okay? We can help y-"

Both voices speak at the same time again to cut her off, "Just leave and don't come back!"

"Shut up and answer our questions then!" Zoey says with an annoyed look.

The figure shakes their head, keeping their back to you, "You don't belong, now leave!"

"Why don't we belong?" You ask in a hope to get some answers from anyone.

"They mentioned ones like you. Breaking from your places, but you shouldn't. Please leave," The figure gets quiet again, like they don't want to talk anymore.

You can hear the wind moving again, but that robe isn't moving at all as the breeze starts. Whatever this thing is it knows more information, but how are you going to get it out of them?

If you just stay calm and don't let things escalte, maybe you can finally get some real answers. "What do you mean by they? Who mentioned people like us?"

The figure tenses up, but their arms relax after a second. "The one from above. They said we should keep the tribes calmed, but you ruined that. They gave us the task and you made us fail!

You raise your hands defensivly, "Calm down, we were just trying to get answers. Like what was the deal with that pillar of light?"

"That is the one they call "The One Above". With them all will be put back where they belong," they say, starting to walk towards the cliff.

"Hey where are you going?" Trish asks, reaching out.

Slowly, they continue to the edge of the outcropping, "It is time to expell you from here. They thought of it as a god with it's stregnth, hopefully that means it will make you leave.

"That sounds really bad," Martin says, getting his shotgun ready.

You can stall for more time. Just a few more questions and they will tell you something big, "I don't understand, how is that pillar suppose to be a god?"

"The pillar is not their god." The figure says as they reach the edge, "This is."

Zoey and you run ahead as the figure steps off the cliff, but after a few steps the clouds around your feet begin to roll. A strong breeze nearly knocks you back as a large, dark shape rises above. It is made of metal with glowing lines and vines covering it, serpentine in shape. You can't see the figure anymore, but that isn't something you are worrying about right now.

"Get back!" Trish yells.

You and Zoey barely manage to get back before a pair of feathered wings wipe across the cliff, the shape rising higher. It's massive, easily bigger than any plane you've seen. With it's full length above the cliff, you see two large eyes looking down at you.

"Get back to the stairs in the cave! It can't fit in there!" You yell to the others as you start to run.

As you and the others start to run, the Shadow flies over you. The wind from its massive wings nearly knocks you over. "How are we suppose to fight this!?" Zoey yells as she over takes you.

Trish whacks a small tree with her talking stick, "Just keep running, the trees will hide us from it's sight!"

Trees are sparse, but do enough to prevent the Shadow from just crashing into you. That is unit the Shadow stops in the air above you. Martin looks back as you keep running, "How is it fl-"

His question is cut off by a massive gust of wind blowing down onto you all, causing trees to fall and knocking the others around. Luckily for you a particularly sturdy tree was within a few feet to duck behind.

The Shadow starts to move again, but you all are already running. Running past the ruins you entered earlier, you know you are close to your goal. As the Shadow comes to a stop for another gust you all run down the stairs as fast as you can. But the winds don't stop, multiple trees falling over and covering the top of the stairs.

"Well now what? We're stuck down here and didn't learn shit," Zoey says, kicking the stone wall.

Martin's phone illuminates his face, "We can't stay in here, but that thing is probably going to be waiting for us."

If you are going to fight a Shadow that huge, you need a plan. "The valley between the cliffs is narrow. If the Shadow wants room to move around it would have to go lower than the bridge."

"So if we go out there and lure it you think we could take it?" Zoey asks as you all start to go down.

You nod, "I know we can take it together."

Martin rubs his temples, "I'm not sure how useful I will be. If that thing keeps using wind attacks I'll just get knocked around."

"Don't worry about it, we can handle it if you have to fall back," Zoey says with a grin.

You walk out with Zoey and Martin, but the Shadow is flying high above. The four of you keep close to the walls as to not be blown away from the winds the Shadow is making. "Hey! Down here!" Zoey yells.

As if to answer his question, there is the sound of metal screeching against metal and the Shadow swoops down. Rocks rain down from above as the Shadow forces it's body into the space. It seems only the head and some of the body are able to fit through the cliffs, but you notice the massive teeth it has at the same level of your ground now. You finally have time to act as the Shadow struggles against the cliffs.

Zoey's hand glows as she clutches her hatchet, "Nevermore, cripple them!"

As the massive Shadow starts to glow a dark shade of purple. Martin follows up the attack quickly, "High John!"

There is a series of flashing lights in front of the Shadow's eyes, dazzling it. The Shadow trashes around, it's wings causing large gust of wind to fly through the cliffs. Martin is sent reeling as he is hit by the brunt of the harsh winds. "Don't worry about me..." He grumbles while trying to get back to his feet.

Trish strides forward, flames forming around her hand. "Sacagawea, set this Shadow on fire!"

The stone hands of her Persona close into a fist, small flames sprouting all over the metallic Shadow. Now with your chance you take the offensive, "Atticus, blast them!"

Over the winds you shout to the others, "Let me weaken it more, then we can all attack it together!"

"If you say so!" Zoey shouts back.

While Martin recovers, the Shadow has other plans. The ground below you shakes after a loud boom, from how the Shadow moved you can tell it is slammed into the cliff side with its massive tail. Rocks fall from above, but you dodge out of the way. Sadly, the same can't be said for Trish and Zoey.

"Stick to your plan, go for it," Trish says calmly as she cradles an arm.

With just a thought the book appears in your glowing hand, "Genbu, take them down!"

"Finally you make use of me," the conjoined Persona grumbles, surrounding your enemy in a darker coat of purple.

Once Genbu vanishes, Zoey and Trish spring into action. Nevermore is called and tears into the underside of the Shadow, making a gash in the metal. Sacagawea creates a blast of flame targeted at the many vines covering the face of the Shadow.

With it's defenses lowered so much, one thing springs to mind. "Blow it away before it can move more!"

Zoey pulls her revolver out with a grin, "With pleasure~"

Getting close to the Shadow is too dangerous, but that isn't an issue. Martin starts the barrage with multiple blast of lighting from High John, and Zoey unloads all her shots into the side of the Shadow, a few missing from recoil.

Instead of attacking, the Shadow starts to pull back. Its head comes free of the stone and the large serpent rises higher into the air. But you won't let it get away. "Sacagawea, burn it away!"

Trish's Persona quickly reacts to the call and launches blast after blast at the Shadow, hitting its tail. You manage to get a few shots off with the hunting rifle before the Shadow is out of view above. Martin pushes his glasses up, "That was too easy."

From the direction you last saw the Shadow you hear what sounds like an eagle's cry. A sudden rush of air nearly pulls you off of the cliff. But as you look up, the face of the Shadow is looking at you.

The mouth opens, revealing many rows of sharp, metallic teeth. You fire a few shots into it, but the bullets bounce off. You try to run away, but are too slow. A deafening screech fills your ears, making you drop to the ground in pain.

Your ears are ringing, but your hands have no blood on them as they pull away from your ears. "Is everyone alright?" You ask.

"What did you say?" Martin shouts.

"Shuuut up!" Zoey groans.

Trish is just shaking her head and trying to stand up with the help of a wall.

Great, that scream seems to have deafened the others. Hopefully the damage isn't permanent, but you need a plan. The Shadow is floating a fair distance away from the cliffs, watching.

"At least we can still hear you." Genbu says in your mind.

You motion for the others to follow you as you head into the cave. Everyone is back on the stairs before the Shadow can attack again, but you need some way to speak with them. On a hunch you switch back to Atticus, "It won't work James."

"What won't work?" you ask internally.

Atticus appears before you and shakes his head, "I can't fix their ear injuries, but your friend Martin can."

Your Person quickly fades, but he knows what he can do. Getting Martin's attention is easy enough with a hand on his shoulder. You tap your ears, point to him, and give a thumbs up. Martin makes a fist and High John appears, quickly covering him in a blue light. "Holy that feels so much better," Martin says normally.

"Glad to have you back, can you help the others?" you ask, giving him some space.

"Can do, just give me a minute," Martin says with a thumbs up.

In quick succession High John heals the others of their loss of hearing. Trish starts to grind her walking stick into the stairs where she sits, "We need some way of getting closer to that Shadow!"

"Yeah. Even if we get it weak, it could just fly away," Martin points out.

"Well do you have any bright ideas?" Zoey asks Martin with a scowl.

>If you fight it from the ruins it will have to get close.

The idea you have is risky, but it's all you have, "What if we grab the vines next time it is close?"

Martin's eyes light up, "Then we could try to find the figure! It has to be hiding somewhere on that thing, doesn't it?"

"That is right, but grabbing those vines will be dangerous," Trish says.

Zoey shrugs, "Not like we have much of a choice."

You start to walk back down the stairs, "Well let's do this then."

Walking onto the cliff side gives you a view of the Shadow. Its flying in circles off in the distance, but you know how fast it can go. Martin nods to you, "What's the plan to get it over here?"

"Why don't we just shoot it?" Zoey asks.

There also isn't any telling how close it will get when it attacks, but you need some way to execute it. "Sometimes a man has to make sacrifices," Atticus' voice echos in your head.

"Good idea Zoey. You all just stay back while I get its attention from here," you say while getting your rifle ready.

Aiming back from the stairs entrance is hard, but you have a good enough angle. You breath, take aim, and fire. Then again after missing, then again.

You end up missing all the shots before you have to reload, but it still gets the Shadow's attention. As the Shadow comes to a stop, it looks like it will blow another gust your way. So you duck back into the stairs.

After checking if it is safe, the Shadow has backed off again. This time it takes only one missed shot to draw its attention, but it doesn't stop to hang back. The head crashes through the same place it had before, getting even further in. Then you spring the plan into action, "Now!"

With a head start you dodge out of the way of the thrashing head, and grab onto a cluster of vines hanging from its face. The Shadow seems to realize what is going on as it starts to pull away from the cliffs. "Not so fast!" Zoey shouts as she grabs on.

The two of you try your best to slow down the Shadow, but it is just too large to be weighed down by a pair of teens trying to pull it back. However, the stone the Shadow crashed through is rough and keeps it from pulling fully free before Martin and Trish grab on as well.

In a matter of seconds the only thing stopping you from falling to your death as a large, metallic, flying snake trashes about is a cluster of vines growing out of it. "Fuck! How do we get it to stop?" Martin cries out.

"Climb up before it throws us off!" you shout over the sound of the wind.

You grit your teeth and grab higher up on the vine, but the Shadow banks a turn in the air. Your hands both leave the vines and you start to free fall. Only thanks to the wild trashing of the Shadow does another vine come close enough to save yourself with.

"James! You okay?" Martin yells down from where he climbed up.

After catching your breath for a second you yell back, "I guess! This thing won't stay still long enough to even climb."

"I doubt the girls are having an easy time either, but we can't stop here!" Martin calls, looking down and missing something very dangerous.

Above Martin stands the robed figured, their face still covered in shadow somehow. A regular human foot stomps down on Martin's hand as the Shadow stabilizes. "I told you to leave! We can't have you ruining everything! This is not where you belong."

His one hand drops in pain, the other clinging on for dear life, "I can't hold on like this!" Martin yells.

"Atticus, heal him!" you yell in a panic.

Your Persona appears behind you, reading the book and healing Martin in an instant. "Quick thinking, but we are almost out of options."

Martin grabs a vine with his healed hand, and looks up at his attacker. "Thanks for the save James, but we still have to deal with this one."

You nod, diplomacy has broken down at this point. Now you have to get up there while this person is stepping on you if you get close. Looking up at the robed figure there is something weird about the way their face can't be seen. Then an arm locks itself around their neck "Uck!"

"Got you now! Trish help them up" you hear Zoey's voice say.

Trish, still in her plague doctor outfit, leans over the edge of the Shadow to help the two of you up. Zoey is keeping the robed figure in a headlock, but they aren't fighting back. "If you kill me, you all shall die as well. I have nothing to fear." The twin voices say, strained from lack of air.

Zoey growls, "Shut up, you are going to give us some solid answers now. You can't run off like you did back at the river anymore."

The figure pulls against Zoey's headlock. "River? I never saw you before you came to the altar."

There is a palpable silence as the wind rushes through your ears.

First thing is first, you have to know something. You reach out and grab the hood, then throw it back. It's a human, but the face is rapidly changing between a man and woman's. "What is this?" Trish asks in disbelief.

Zoey drops them in shock, "Oh fuck!"

"What are you?" Martin shouts.

The figure slowly stands up, "I am everyone."

"Cut the shit, that doesn't mean anything," Zoey says, starting to reach for their neck again.

"I am being honest! When all of the people here were given purpose, I was made. I always was there, but never given physical form. Now I have one and can make sure nobody stepped out of line. Until you showed up..." the figure trails off.

"That doesn't explain WHAT you are," Martin says after gulping.

The figure continues to explain,"To be clear, I am the way you all should be acting. You should all have just returned to your tribes and lived in the jungle."

While you are still trying to process that, you have another question. "Who made the camps around the jungle? If it wasn't you, that means another... person was here."

"I can't say who did." The figure says with a shrug.

"Fine, how do we close The Rift between here and our world?" you ask, staring into their shifting eyes.

"For that to happen, I must die." they say plainly.

"How can we trust anything you say?" Martin says, pointing at them.

Trish steps in front of Martin, "We have nothing to gain from not trusting them," she stops to turn to the figure, "What happens to this Shadow when we kill you?"

The figure seems confused for a moment, "Shadow? Oh, well it will vanish. I will offer one last time for you to leave. If you leave and never come back you can find your purpose and not worry about what you are doing with life anymore. Just do what makes sense for you to do."

"Why are you being so civil now?" you ask with a curious look.

The figure looks at everyone before responding, "Since you did not listen to demands. I thought you might listen to me if I gave you answers."

Zoey cracks her knuckles, "Well we aren't giving up. So you better say your prayers, whatever you are."

"Can you make this thing land first actually?" Martin asks.

"Killing you won't accomplish anything if I am already gone. The figure mutters as they step towards the head of the Shadow.

With a stomp and point, you all are brought to the edge of the cliff with the altar. The figure steps off first, and once everyone is off the massive Shadow flies straight up. Slowly it turns into a beam of light, before fading out.

"Why are you being so compliant now?" Trish asks.

"Because you cornered me completely. So, how are we going to do this? The figure asks, turning back to the group.

"This feels kinda weird now..." Martin mumbles.

Martin is right, this is weird. This figure is just ready to accept their death and you will be the one to kill it. Even if they aren't a person, they look like multiple. This is the only way to close The Rift though. The only sound you hear is the running of water that likely makes the waterfall between the cliffs.

You can't do it yet, you still have more questions. "What about that Wooden Gate to the West? And how do we get out of here?"

The figure sighs, "That gate will open up when I am gone, but going through it would be unwise. You will just get lost and it may not have a way for you to leave anyways. I am unsure of how you will leave hear with this Rift, but I am not worried about it."

You look to Martin, Trish, Zoey, and the figure. "Atticus, can you handle this?" you ask mentally.

The suit wearing Persona fades into view before you, rifle in hand. His voice sounds in your head, "There is no shame in asking for help when it is needed. Now stand back."

With a single shot, the figure starts to fade away. Not like Shadows, but just fade to nothingness. As their body vanishes, the green sky starts to crackle. A large crack becomes clear in the sky above, like there were more clouds that moved out of the way. "So I guess this is it..." Martin says, looking away from the sky.

"We do have a plan to get out of here, right?" Zoey asks.

Trish shakes her head and turns back to the sky. The large tear slowly closes, in a matter of seconds it is gone. The sky is peaceful yet again, but now you have no place to go. "This isn't funny, we aren't really trapped here. Are we?" Zoey asks, her voice on the verge of panic.

Looking around, there doesn't seem to be anything else different. This world is exactly the same, but now The Rift is gone. That should mean no more Shadows are here, but you can't be certain. One thing sticking out is the familiar blue butterfly flying in circles over the stream.
