We follow the cliffside down towards the docks district, and rent a boat (a small rockitship, really) to take us up the river so we can study the cliff's sides.

Along the way, Zoe walks happily while holding our hand, and Portia walks next to her while talking with us about school.

It seems noone bullies her or confuses her with a pet anymore. It's really amazing how fast their way of looking at her changed when uncle Woldric had the council declare spiderkin as a civilized race.

It's really quite something.

Now she's having a normal every day life, and while she's not magically and instantly popĂșlar, she's not ostrcized either, and has made a couple of good friends amongst her classmates, despite spending so much time on the lab.

Well, she does get plenty of looks as we walk down the street, but that's to be expected from a 6" tall cute spider girl, after all.

Once we arrive at the docks, we head to the company office and surprise our harpies with a visit.

They look really cute in their uniforms, and are greeting people politely and with a smile. It looks like they're really enjoying their work now.

Ah, but they did stop working and came over to crowd us when they saw us, though. Lets pat their heads a little bit.

"There there, you're all doing great"

They smile happily and ask for more headpats, so we give them each one before ushering back to their seats. They're still at work, you know?

In the end, we rent a ship with Rosa, and head over to the docks to board it.

Its a solid looking one, about 1/5 the lenght of a standard cargo ship, but noticeably larger than a boat. Its a brand new model...

We decide to hire a captain for the ship. Its not about how well we can steer it or not, let's not get sidetracked. We need to be free so we can properly study the cliff's sides, after all.

Ah, while we are here, let's try and get Tien to work as well.

She appears by our side when we call her out from our [Menagerie], and greets us happily.

Uhn, she's a good girl, too.

As we are gently messing with her gold and black hair, we explain to her that we want her to learn fron Rosa and the others.

Well, the (caster) harpies are smart enough by now that they can go home without any problem every day now, so they can be in charge of Tien without much trouble. Probably.

"Yes! Tien will do her best, Master!" - she says with enthusiasm.
"I'm counting on you."

After she goes to change into the company uniform, we leave with the captain we hired, a young orc that has migrated from their mountain city.

He's a tall but thin one, and while one can easily see he's well built, he's a lot more wiry than the standard orc, it seems. He wears his uniform well, and has been working for the company for about a year now.

Ah, he has pretty good manners. The only clue that he's from the mountains is that he still wears his hair beads over the back of his head, and you see the end tips of a tattoo poking out from under his shirt's neck.

With that out of the way, we explain to him what we want to do, and he steers the ship towards the cliffs, over the river.

We can see large merchant ships going up and down the river under us, but looking up, we can't see the top of the cliffs through the myst.

Well, from atop the cliffs, the myst doesn't lets yiou see the river either.

Ah, I wonder if we should explore the upper or lower heights of the cliffs? It seems to be pretty windy either way.

"Can take us over the myst?"
"We'll need to go out and descend from the top. There are ridges poking out from the cliffs' walls at places."

Since the myst would keep the ridges hidden, the captain takes us out and goes around before descending.

If it had been us, perhaps we would have crashed with a ridge.

Ah, the girls seem to be enjoying this as a boat trip. They're having fun.

As we leave the cliffs and head to open sea, the captain has the boat lift and turn around then heads back to the city.

From the sea, the city looks as if it was glowing, it is quite beautiful.

Lyann holds our hand and leans her head on our shoulder as she smiles.

Alright, now from above the cliffs, we descend slowly before beginning our inspection.

Of course, it can't be close to the keep, since it WILL be attacked, but too far creates a infraestructure problem, so let's check within 2 miles in either direction.

Uh, there's some caverns in the cliffside, if you go far enough. The howling wind at the entrance would be a good power source, but who knows what, if anything, is living in those caves?

Looking at the caves from outside, its rather clear that they're not just a hole in the wall, but an actual cavern.

Well, there's no way up or down, so unless its connected to a system of caverns a la underdark, its unlikely anything particularly big lives in there.

Probably bats? All the same, let's take a look.

We call out the remnaining harpies, radiant, Tanis, Miel II, Moccha and Crema, Lyra and Flora, as well as Krabby.

The cave doesnt looks large enough for Squidward, though.

"Isn't this a few people too many?" - says Zoe when we all finish moving to the cave's mouth.
"Its fine, its a chance to interact with everyone."

Well, we left our succubus at our old town, so we can't really call them through [Menagerie] anyway.

"This... it smells quite bad." - Portia covers her pretty face with a handkerchief

Indeed, it smells like garbage bags let out in the sun for a couple of days. Not long enough for things to decompose into compost, but long enough for fungus to grow on it and loquid to drip down to the floor... its quite nasty.

As we advance, the scent's source becomes obvious as we see meat bits all over the floor.

Its pretty much impossible to tell what it used to be. In this world, anything you'd kill would dissapear and turn into drops, so whatever these are, they're just the leftovers of the leftovers (drops).

A few moments later, a loud screech surprises us from behind.

Its a gryphon. A couple of them, actually.

"Wait, don't kill them yet...!"
"I got it." - says Lyann as she uses her [Dance] to [Slow] and [Frog] the gryphons...

I feel like one of those was unneccessary?

We take out our [Ring Of Knowledge] and take a look at the gryphons, to find out that they are wild monsters, or "real" if you prefer, and thus valid targets for our [Tame] skill.

Well, gryphons used to be common in these lands in the past according to history books, and our ancestors built a giant aviary for them at the keep.

I wonder if these are descendants from our family's gryphons?

The historical gryphon reports did say that they tend to live in small family groups of up to 5 and... are we in a gryphon's nest?

Oh, maybe we can get a young one for Athena!

And Lyann can also get another.
>>
While they are under Lyann's collection of debuffs, the gryphons are worse than helpless, and our [Tame] skill works on them without any issues.

Gryphon [Female][lvl 37][Silver]
Gryphon [Male][lvl 39][Silver]

As expected, their physical abilities are exceptionally high, but their mental and social abilities are even with what you'd expect from an animal.

Uhm, it feels like calling out everyone to explore the cavern was a bit of overkill... after all, we're pretty much in the middle of a large city, so you can't expect dragons or the like to hang around.

An easy guess would be that these gryphons hunt mostly sea and river monsters, relying on the inaccesibility of their lair to keep their younglings safe... speaking of which, let's see if they had... cubs? chicks? younglings, anyway.

Still. they really do have bird brains, uh? To not be bothered by this stench. At least, it seems to somehow attenuate as we go deeper, replaced by... ah, the scent of feces is no better, really.

Considering that gryphons are the very idea of a majestic creature, you'd forget that they are still animals at heart. A lion may wander off to do its thing, but aneagle would poop out the edge of its own nest.

And we do find a nest. There are 5-- let's call them cubs.

"Ah!" - Zoe approaches as she spots the cubs.

Alright, they're pretty cute. They're at that age where they can already move around, but that's about it.

I wonder if they eat regurgitated food like birds, or drink milk like mamals? I guess the second?

>Let's use [Tame] on them and add them to our own [Menagerie]

"Alright, let's take them with us. We can have the parents move to the keep's aviary and restart the family stables."
"And these little ones?" - Asks Portia while she holds one against her chest.

Ah, when it comes to sheer size and softness, Portia's really number 1, uh? The cub looks really comfy and gives up a yawn.

Is it really that relaxing? The others are either wary or playing with the girls, you know? This one is way too relaxed and chill.

"Uhm, we're taking them as well, but we'll raise them ourselves. You can take that one to Athena so she adds it to her [Menagerie]"
"Alright!"

Ah, it fell asleep. What a relaxed fellow

Well, after investigating the cavern, we go back out and continue checking the cliffside. We finally agree on an area with plenty of ridges, so it will be easier to build a solid base for the generators, as well as store building materials during the construction.

A large crane will have to be built at the edge of the cliff for it, and some space will need to be cleared, so let's go see what's on top of the cliff...

And so, it ends up being a manor belonging to one of the older families in town.,,

"Eldric, what are you doing?" - Lyann walks next to us as we head to the main entrance

Yes, we did return the ship and the captain first.

"This house is in the perfect place to work as building site and warehouse for the generators. We need the terrain."
"You can't buy a family's home and just... tear it down."
"It's for everyone's sake."
"...alright." - she says as she gives us a slightly worried look

Oh, she looks pretty when she's worried, too.

As we approach the main gate, a private guard approaches us.

"How may I help you?" - the man seems more curious than wary

Well, looking at us from a 3rd party point of view, we are a bunch of kids, I guess.

"Oh?" - the man looks at us with warm eyes

Well, we may look like a bunch of youngsters playing a prank, though.
Well, Lyann (looks like she) is a 17 years old super high class beauty in a ultra revealing dancer's outfit, though, but... precisely because she's a dancer, it doesn't seems to cause any trouble or draw any improper stares.

Uhm. Its nice knowing we are the only one to look at her with unclean eyes. Yup

Anyway, the guard takes our ID medallion and goes in to talk with the head butler. I guess they're going to check its authenticity.

A few minutes later, the head butler and the guard come back in a hurry. We can hear their steps hurrying towards the door, pause, and then open calmly.

Good job, even though you ran over, it doesn't looks like it.

The butler is... a young man in his early thirties. Its a bit of a betrayal of our expectations, isn't it? Butlers in general, and head butlers specifically, are typically more elderly characters...

Anyway...

"Young sir, the lord of the house is not present at the moment. May I invite you in while he returns? The lady of the house would like to keep you company until that time."

"Lord Quistor is currently at a meeting of city hall, and should arrive as usual, shortly before dinner."

Ah, so the house's lord is a member of the city council. Well, if his house this close to the keep, he was bound to be from a old, important family.

Thing is, we promised our moms and little brothers that we were going to join them for dinner. In that case...

"Of course. Should I send the lords' reply to the keep?"

We are about to tell him of uncle's manor address, but rather than having sypcophants and lackeys pop up at 'home', let them just deal with the gate guards at the keep.

"Yes please."

We thank the man simply, and head on home. It is not that far a walk, so lets have the girls enjoy of the city streets on the way.

It is quite the beautiful city, after all. The streets cobblestones have been lovingly placed, and there's no garbage on the streets. We can hear the laughter of children coming from a nearby park, and the inhabitants are from a multitude of races, having long adapted to life in a large city.

Indeed, city-born elves are rare to see, but their elegant figures wear local clothes with grace, and the odd dwarf manages to make his stout figure look elegant and respectable, even while wearing a three-part suit.

"Ah." - Zoe seems interested in one of the new rockit carriages, as one passes us by, floating a few feet off the ground, and being pulled by a tall and delicate looking reptile with thick legs.
"We haven't seen any of those in Albion yet. I knew they were a thing, but..."

Lyann is right. We knew rockit carriages were a thing for some time now, but this one is the first we see. Kind of odd, considering our company makes them, I guess.

Well, it will be useful to move within the city, and good advertisement for sure. We can make a simple automaton to pull it, and take care of it,. so we won't need a stable...

...plus Zoe has mentioned that she doesn't likes taking Okaba's centipede carriage to the market.

Not really sure why. Its awesome. Guess it's a cute kitty thing.

We arrive at the keep to pick up everyone... no we didn't buy the carriage yet, so we're paying for one like everyone else.

"Did you have a nice boat ride?" - Ellie greets us and makes sure everyone is okay when we get back.
"Yes mommy Ellie." - Zoe & Portia

We get our hair groomed, and then help everyone unto the carriage before heading to our uncle's manor.

By the way, the reason is roofless is because Portia would have trouble fitting in a closed cabin.

"Eldric, I am glad you enjoy spending time with your sisters, but it doesn't gets in the way with Lyann?" - our mom asks us softly once everyone else is in the carriage
