If you were honest, it hadn't been a bad week by your standards. After countless weeks of camping and wandering aimlessly all over remnant and subsiding off of whatever animals you and Khrone could hunt it was a blessing to be able to look over the small hotel room the two of you had purchased for your short stay in Vale. The semi-busy nightlife and sounds of human and Faunus alike was far more comforting than you'd realized in comparison to crackling fires and the rustle of wildlife.

Thinking on these facts though brought forward the uncomfortable reality that such civil accommodations were things you had rarely had in the last six years. Ever since-.

You shook the encroaching dark thoughts out of your head you instead look to the small white box sitting on the small table in front of you. Still wrapped in the plastic it had been in two hours ago when your short companion insisted you purchase with him. He claimed that any good student would have such a thing; though he had also said that he needed a better way to hit on chicks so you aren't quite sure if his reasoning was airtight. They had cost a fortune (not that it really mattered to the two of you) but he had insisted that such an investment was important.

Quickly peeling away the plastic cover and popping off the small cardboard top, a black rectangle about the size of your hand stared back at you.

A series 6 scroll.

You had argued with Khrone in the store (much to the bemusement of the clerk) that you would stand out too much but the silver haired twerp had again insisted and so reluctantly here it was, now sitting in your bandaged hands.

Pushing a tiny bit of aura into it, the once translucent gem in the center turned a dull, metallic sheen and the device popped open and after a few moments your name and a VERY outdated photo of yourself showed up:

>Welcome Lucius Alexander Ferrum

You had always been proud of your name. Proud of the lineage it carried with it. From all the old stories your mother and father would tell you, your family had been both warriors and craftsmen since the dawn of the human age. Equal parts skilled in the heat of the forge and battlefield it had been these very stories that had ignited your desire to become a huntsman in the first place, even in the face of your inherent handicap.

A sad smile graces your lips as you look down at your left leg, encased in the bluish metallic housing that allowed the limb to function. Rising up to just below the knee, you had only had the thing for a year but much like it's predecessors it was as much a part of you as your hair. Such had been the case since your fifth birthday.

You were told that at birth they had discovered that the bones below your knee had either been grown incorrectly or had fused in such a way that they would be unable to support your body weight. Your parents had been devastated at the thought, given the program was tailored to raise huntsmen; something you could no longer be. However that mentality had changed when you were five and as a birthday wish declared that you wished to be a huntsmen like all the other children.

This spark, this simple wish would come true within a few months when the very first of many braces to come was slapped onto your leg and allowed you to walk for the very first time. It would also begin the many jeers and jokes at your expense thanks to the (then) clunky and audible hunk of metal that was strapped to your leg.

It was also how you and Khrone had met for the first time as:

>A. one of the many bullies that made fun of you
>B. The first kid to stand up for you
>C. Another kid who was also bullied
>D. The eccentric kid of the the whole program

When you had first known each other, Khrone was in fact not your best friend.

He was one of your worst enemies.

Along with Mars, Violet and the other children he had been the pioneer of many of the jokes at your expense. Tin Man, Clanker and of course your favorite:

Lucy.

To this day it was still the name he would call you by when he was serious; this of course was almost never.

And that was just a small portion of how your first six years in the Icarus Program had been. While you personally had no idea as to what the end goal was, what little you could glean was obvious. It was an Atleasian project that had been designed to train children to become the ultimate huntsman. Even now, nearly a decade after the training had began much of the little lessons that had been drilled into your head still stuck.

'A Huntsman's best friend is his weapon, but a Huntsman's greatest weapon is his mind'

'You are an independent warrior; however you are also your partners sword, and they your shield. You will only succeed so long as each of you can support each other'

'A missed shot is a missed opportunity'

The list went on.

Naturally all these thoughts of combat lessons and conditioning training had brought your eyes to your weapon:

>A. An arming sword that doubled as a dustcrossbow
>B. A simple and humble Warhammer that separated into massive pistols.
>C. A broad Battleaxe that could split between two smaller axes or a shotgun.
>D Annon's choice.

>>1763276

Your father had always said the simplest weapon was the most elegant. And In your mind nothing was simpler than the noble and tested Battleaxe.

Currently propped up against the wall in its compact form, the massive weapon was still rather sizable at a good two feet. Having built the weapon yourself you knew that the moment your hand made contact with the haft the assembly would extend to a massive five feet.

While this was still short of your massive six foot frame the weapon was certainly big enough to give anyone a shock, especially with you able to move it around with a practice ease that bordered on art.

This wasn't even the fun part of the weapon, as with a quick twist the axe would split into two equally dangerous axes, their hafts also capable of firing dust shells to make some space.

All in all, an simple and effective weapon.

It hadn't been your first weapon, which had been lost during the evacuation from Icarus all those years back. But then again few things were. Reaching into your pocket you pulled out the last memento you had of your family:

The watch was interestingly enough a standard issue to all adults at Icarus, given its unique designed inner plate. Even Khrone had one from his father; however the one you now held had value immeasurable to you. Though there had been a few new scratches on the face and the inner glass was now faded by innumerable nights of fiddling and polishing, it still ran perfectly as the day it had been first wound.

It was the last thing you had managed to grab from your home on the premises before running for the bullheads that were evacuating whoever they could. Your parents had naturally joined all the other parents in stopping the onslaught of Grimm that had overrun the facility. Meanwhile you and all the other children were being escorted away by Mr O and there on-site staff Atlas had hired.

However none of that would amount to anything in the moments that had since redefined your life. You remember it all clearly, however it still feels like a dream.

Khrone had tripped and fallen during the run and some of the Grimm had broken through. All the adults that were escorting you all were all heading toward the beasts but you had been their first. Staring you dead in your Jade eyes was a:

>>1763529

Staring back at you, the massive scorpion Grimms glowing red eyes terrified you, but your foolish determination to be a hero grounded you in your action. That action being to kick the Death Stalker's stinger away from Khrone with your metallic brace.

If you were armed now would be about the time you'd have followed up such a move; but you weren't. Instead you reached down to pull the boy up, and thus made the biggest mistake of your short life.

You can barely remember the feeling of the beasts pincers as it grabbed your arm and hoisted you into the air, dangling helplessly in its grip. But the terror and images are all to clear as it's other pincher reached out and took your other arm and began pulling. Remembering it all you can't help but imagine that the beast was toying with you, as at your more mature self realizes it could have torn you apart like a child tearing apart cotton candy.

However this process was sadistically slow, and if it weren't for your semblance...you'd be dead.

Transmutation: the power of change.

You don't know how you knew how to do it, but in the span of a minute the Death Stalker had turned completely to solid, unmoving iron. This however would prove to be too much between the energy spent and the pain.

You passed out.

When you had awoken three days later, it had been a wrecking ball. Your parents had died in the defense of Icarus, all your possessions had been destroyed. Oh, and best of all: from the collar down your arms were gone.

In their place were two simple prosthetic arms, barely capable of holding a pen steady. However as the days passed you learned you weren't the worst. Some had lost legs, some had lost arms. Some had lost most of their bodies.

And Khrone? Because of you he had kept his life but lost:

When you saw Khrone next would be a few days from when you first woke up, an equally simplistic "scaffold" style leg replacing his left leg. He looked as terrible as you felt and for the first time he probably really saw you, and you saw him.

As tentative as the budding friendship has been, a mutual agreement formed between the two of you: you'd help each other become huntsmen, or you'd both fail. And with that agreement put in words, both you got to work and In the coming months it became apparent that the two of you were a perfect match.

Khrone was an incredibly skilled engineer, and some of the ideas he had while insane were well beyond what anyone in Atlas was doing and between your ability to transmute and smith it became a reality. Within a year gone were the useless throwaways and in were the first steps in a series of innovations.

As each of you grew and changed so did the technical complexity and ability of each of you. You however opted for:

While they were certainly strong enough to swing your axe (which still needs to be named) with an ease that is seemingly laughable, it was their durability that really stood out. It had taken you and Khrone six months to even figure out how to make the alloy and another three to actually build them, but the end results were spectacular. A tungsten-titanium-carbon mixture, as heavy as they were they could stand up to just about anything that any grimm or huntsman alike could throw at them.

Additionally it made them great hammers of force, ensuring that even without your axe you'd be able to handle yourself. To top it all off beneath this durable shell a lattice of Proto-dust alloy ran, allowing you to channel your aura through it.

You had to admit, it was a pretty sweet deal.

You were roused from your thoughts by the feeling of your new scroll buzzing. Peering over to it you see that it's unmistakably Khrone, his picture giving it away.

"Finally took it out of the box I see, Tin-Man!" The drawling voice of Khrone teases, his voice nearly crystal clear through the other end of the line.

"Yeah, yeah, whatever clanker." You remark back with a chuckle, rolling your eyes. "What's up?" You ask.

"Was just walking through town, figured I'd asked you if you're all packed. You know the airship leaves early tomorrow." He answers, you can almost hear his boredom.

"You know I'm packed, you've been a mother hen about it ever since we arrived in Vale. What do you actually want?" You reiterate, the oncoming headache already forming.

"I figured I should grab some extra dust in case, want to join me?" He asks.

Thinking it over you realize that you're running low on a few kinds of dust. While normally one only required dust for their weapons due to the various pieces of hardware that were vital to your ability to function, you always needed more than most. Granted per capita that wouldn't mean very much, but it never hurts to be forward thinking.

"Sure, I could use a tiny bit to top off. Where were you thinking of going?" You ask him, getting up from the desk and making your way for the door. For an split second you think to take your weapon with you but shake that off; it's the city, you'll be safe as can be!

"There's a small shop still open. I'll send you the details to your school, see you there, tin-man!" He says before abruptly hanging up. Throwing on your jacket your scroll vibrates against your bandaged hand and you see an address and the name of the shop "From Dust Till Dawn"

>>
>>1764153
We could transmate rocks into gold and become a billionaire
>>
>Touch the earth, make it gold, just the entire earth is now gold.
>>
>>1764153
We could turn a wall into paper, an easy out literally at our fingertips. Depending on how aura-intensive that kind of thing is of course.
>>1764155
>>1764159
I mean sure, but that has a lot of potential to fuck with the economy. Since our aura is presumably a known thing, what with us coming from some Atlas training program, it wouldn't surprise me if somebody was keeping an eye on that kind of thing.
>>
This is what he said our exact semblance is Transmute- By pushing his aura into an object, he is capable of transmuting it into whatever element he desires. However the higher on the periodic table and the more matter being transmuted, the more energy it takes. He is also incapable of making alloys or dust (he can make the two separate elements however, and mix them by normal means once transmuted)
>>
>>1764167

Fuck of Emps, you're not wanted here

>>1764193

We could just grab Mercury's prosthetic legs and turn them into Hydrogen
>>
>>1764197
We could fuck up a lot of people just by touching them. Unless it doesn't work on living/organic material. Either way we can fuck with people's weapons and clothing. Turn their weapons into styrofoam and their clothing into steel. How long would we need to maintain contact to infuse our aura and trasmute something? I mean, pushing our aura into an object makes it sound like it'll need more than just a single brush of our fingers.
>>
>>1764052As you make your way down the road towards the shop, you see Khrone sitting on one of the many benches of the city, his crook dangling off the lamppost above him. For someone as small as him, it still made you chuckle seeing the seven foot crook he had chosen for his weapon. Giving him a casual wave you watched him retrieve the crook with a jump and join you in step.

"What took you so long tin-man? Need some oil for those joints" he jokes, his purple eyes twinkling with mischief as he slid the massive walking stick into a sheathe onto his back as it collapsed to a far more tolerable size.

"You're one to talk, Khrone, your leg is more bits than mine." You respond, placing your rather weighty hand on his head, much to his annoyance.

"Now now, to business. What do you need to grab? I thought you had enough for your hydraulics for another week or so." He asked, taking a moment struggle from beneath your hand to look up at you.

Before you can respond you see the front of the shop turn a glowing orange before the glass blasts out in a large explosion. Immediately you throw your arms in front of yourself; Khrone ducking behind you.

Once the blast clears you can see that a duo of sedans have also pulled up, a group of armed gentlemen in white suits getting and moving towards the now smoking building.

There's a robbery afoot!

Subconsciously you reach for your weapon when you realize that like an idiot you'd left it in the room.

'No matter' you think to yourself as the thugs split up, half of them running into the building to pillage the shop when the sound of gunfire rings in your ears.

There's someone in there.

Narrowing your eyes you look to Khrone who just nods, his crook already extending before transitioning again into a massive rifle. Watching him grab onto the newly extended bolt he opens the massive device as you're already on the move.

By the time Khrone's shot rings out with its audible 'crack' you're already halfway across the distance between the group of thugs, by the time it collides with the centermost thug it's already too late for the rest. Bringing hands up you can see the surprise on the closest victims face as he turns to face you with only a feet to go. Raising his weapon in alarm as he's about to fire your bandaged hand grips the guns barrel, the shots harmlessly scuffing the metal beneath before the gun in his hands explodes.

He cannot even finish screaming before your other hand lashes out and catches him by the collar. Pulling him forward you drive your braced knee into the man's chest before letting him simply drop to the ground in a groaning heap.

By this point the rest of the company has realized there is someone at their party who WASN'T invited and turn to fire at you. Turning to face the closer of the two you hear another shot ring out and hope to the high heavens it was Khrone as you duck low, bringing your arms up to cover your face. You can feel slight push of each round but trudge on regardless.

As the final step to the man is crossed you can tell he's run out of bullets and with a savage grin you rear your right hand back in a fist and throw it directly into the mans face. His aura holds up for a split second before you feel the bones begin to rearrange painfully to accommodate your fist before he rockets down the sidewalk.

Having not been shot you correctly guess that Khrone has dealt with the last one, his footsteps echoing down the street. Before you can turn to celebrate within however the four earlier goons, now numbering six run out in a panic. The sound of metal clashing on metal behind them. Before you can even guess the alley beside the shop erupts in another fireball. A gentlemen bursting through the plume being chased by a smaller individual in red.

How do you proceed?

>A. Disengage and give chase to the fleeing individual. Khrone can handle things.

Seeing this you bolt for the alley, drawing the eyes of the thugs just long enough for Khrone to get in close. You hear the satisfying sound of skin on concrete as Khrone quickly gets to work. Drowning out the sound you jump and grab hold of the fire escape only to grunt as the metal warps beneath your fingers; the heat having weakened the material. Undeterred you instead slam your hand into the wall, making your own handholds as you climb your way up.

Finally mantling over the lip of the roof you make your way towards the ongoing fight; leaping over the rooftops. Landing on their roof you begin your charge!

You can feel the cement crack beneath your foot as your brace digs into it, your mouth dropping on its own as you let out a deep bellowing yell:

"Lights out asshole!"

The man spins to you in surprise, his deep green eyes widening as your pot-marked bandaged fist comes within inches of his torso. However your cry of assault manages to give him just enough time to bring his weapon, a cane, up to block your strike. However his smug amusement turns to a tiny bit of fear as you feel the object buckle ever so slightly beneath the blow.

Before you can continue the assault he kicks you in the chest muttering "great, two brats now."

Recovering your footing a high pitched 'hiya' rings out as the red combatant, who you realize is a girl, brings her scythe to bare on you!

Bending beneath the swipe you roll forward, before gesturing to the white hatted man to the right! "I'm after him, kid! Not you!" You manage to yell, your focus once more taken by the girl who is still trying to strike you.

Just behind her you manage to see the grin of the Man, raising his cane to take aim. Instincts overtake all thoughts as the 'engine' kicks in, catching the opponents scythe where the blade meets the haft before effortlessly throwing her away.

You aren't dying here thanks to some interference!

Just as the girl clears the path of your true opponent he squeezes the trigger and a ball of flame spits straight towards you. Instead of dodging like any normal human you simply grin back at the man, your eyes not leaving his as your fist contacts the ball, popping it ahead of you as you march towards him.

The man simply continues to fire shot after shot, at first coordinated but quickly becoming inaccurate at his no doubt panic. Watching you barely moving out of the way and simply making short work of his attacks no doubt having an effect, though in hindsight you realize your bandages slowly burning away is only increasing the effect.

Before you can finally get within range he points his cane down and jumps off the edge of the building; firing into the concrete below and forcing you to cover your eyes from the debris. By the time the smoke clears the low rumble of a bullhead reaches your ears and you see the man, smug as he was only a minute before looking down at you.

"Can't get me from here, can you tin-man?" He mocks, waving his cane at the floating craft around him. Before you can respond a series of cracks begin to add to the cacophony, small potholes forming in the craft.

Instead of getting a dignified response the man seems to pout before throwing a large red crystal towards the two of you, his cane taking aim as a sick gleam fills his eyes. Panicking you bring your arms up and kneel, praying to god that the blast doesn't kill you when you suddenly feel yourself lighten before being pulled away from your previous position.

Ahead of you an older woman, no doubt a huntsman in full begins to tear up the roof around you, in an attempt to make a barrier. In a flash of red light and a brilliant explosion you see that a trail of flame is arcing around the bullhead, swatting away any attempt made to harm it. Looking to the girl you meet her eyes and find them to be peculiarly silver; a color of eyes you had to admit you hadn't seen before.

You open your mouth to speak when the sound of heels clacking against the remains of the rooftop. You look up to meet a pair of emerald eyes framed in glasses. You simply manage to give a sheepish chuckle before looking down.

'It's going to be a long night' you think to yourself, getting to your feet and silently waiting for the woman to speak

Looking down at your hands you can’t help but question why they put handcuffs on you. In fact the entirety of the police vetting process had been completely baffling to you up until this moment. Ever since the woman, who had introduced herself as Glynda Goodwich once things had settled down, had had you brought into the station it had been a rather….interesting test of your patience.

They attempted to take your fingerprints…

They attempted to take your FINGERPRINTS.

You know, from your non existent human hands.

You could hardly contain your groans of frustration as they proceeded to then put handcuffs around your wrists and led you into the cell. This was a seemingly equally futile effort as you knew all too well you could shatter the cuffs with little effort. But instead of having to explain to the police why you had broken their precious handcuffs you simply let them continue to think they had secured you.

And naturally Khrone was nowhere to be seen, if you had to guess he figured you could handle yourself; And if you had to be honest, that was for the best.

And now you were sat in this small ten by ten holding cell...with the same girl you had met due to the robbery you had apparently thwarted. Now that you got a better look at the girl (beyond her silver eyes that you STILL had trouble looking away from) she was a TINY little thing!

Wait a minute...they didn’t handcuff her!?

Looking at the girl fiddle with her hands, and you can tell she’s nervous. She’s clearly young and this is probably the first time such a thing has happened. For a moment you argue with yourself on talking to this total stranger (a stranger who had also TRIED TO MURDER YOU WITH A SCYTHE) when you take another glimpse into those silver pools and seeing that hint of fear you made up your mind.

You cough after a moment, the kind of cough that comes off far too obvious to draw attention. That and with your hands still cuffed you end up just sort of coughing AT the girl, which clearly catches her off guard. Seeing this you panic and bring your hands up, accidentally breaking the handcuffs as you tried to calm the girl. Seeing her settle down (you think) you slowly set your hands on your knees, finally speaking up.

“So…” You drawl. Trying desperately to try and cut the tension between the two of you, though in hindsight you realize your accidental display of strength and cough probably didn’t help at all.

“So…” She squeaks back, eyes dancing all along your frame before settling on your leg; Much to your annoyance. Everyone always looked at your brace like as if you’d grown a second head.

“I...see you like red.” You say, thinking that hey, that’ll be a good starting point! “I like Grey myself...though I think that's obvious!” You add, chuckling far too loud to be considered a casual thing, subconsciously trying to make your arms as small a target as you could for noticing.

After the fight you hadn’t managed to really rebandage the massive reminders of your past and usually they were nothing more than attention magnets. And with the bullying and limelight you had always seemingly been exposed to, the last thing you wanted was MORE attention. Attention that the girl was now giving to said metallic arms.

She’s quiet for a moment before she stands and slowly walks towards you, quickly invading your personal space bubble. This freezes your usually observant brain as all of the processing power goes into observing the details of the female specimen before you. You don’t know how long your brain goes on cataloging the details, but by the time the part of your brain responsible for NOT looking like an idiot kicks in you realize she’s now sitting beside you; Prodding and poking at your arm with a look of deep concentration.

“How did you do it?” She says, eyes narrowing as she looks up at you.

...What?

“I’m sorry?” You manage to mumble out, looking down to meet her gaze.

“Your weapons...this composition it’s Titanium-Tungsten and...what? How did you do it?” She asks, her voice reverent as she slowly runs a hand along your arm.

“E-excuse me?” You ask, suddenly VERY uncomfortable with the sudden contact and...wait a minute?

Weapons?

“I saw the fight! I saw how you managed to take all that punishment from Torchwick. You made those dust blasts look like childsplay and the material isn’t even that scorched!” She exclaims, suddenly like a hurricane of motion as she examines one arm, and then the other. “You’ve GOT to tell me what your secret is! Come on! Please! Ohh! Ohh I know! I can trade you something! You’ve got no ranged weapons in them but I know just the thing! Ohh please please please” She goes on, seemingly ecstatic about the prospect of learning about the new ‘weapons’ in front of her.

For a moment you are stunned, she doesn’t realize that the things hanging from your limbs are in fact, just that? She can’t possibly be so innocent to realize that these two arm-shaped ‘weapons’ were in fact your actual limbs, right?

Right?

The fact that she saw them as that put an equally upsetting thought in your mind for a split second: Was she right? Were your arms now nothing more than tools to aid you in killing grimm? No, that couldn’t be the case! They were your arms, your own hands with which you could create and work and do everything everyone else could do! Sure you could crack grimm bone beneath them and were able to stand up to gunfire but that was just part of your life, wasn’t it? You hoped the look of utter confliction didn’t cross your face as you pondered this fact, as by the time you snapped yourself back to reality the girl was staring at you with wide, pleading eyes.

Maybe she was that innocent. And if that was the case, you decided, you’d try and preserve that at least for now.

You don’t know how long you busied yourself with explaining the long and highly-edited story of how you and Khrone had tried to make such an alloy for years but it only recently succeeded. But seeing the girl so enraptured in it all and completely unaware of the dark cell around you made you feel something you couldn’t quite put your finger on. In exchange for your story and explanations she regaled you all about her weapon; A Scythe that also doubled as a high-impact sniper rifle. The amount of detail she had put into explaining the intricacies and mechanics of it all was astounding and you were sure Khrone would LOVE to hear all about it...if he wasn’t already trying to flirt with the girl, that is.

She had also managed to give you her name: Ruby Rose. You could have sworn you’d have heard a similar name before but you threw that from your mind when you heard a slight banging on cell bars.
“Lucius Ferrum? You have a visitor. Come with me.” Came the gruff, no-nonsense voice of the guard as you quietly obeyed the man. You gave Ruby a small wave goodbye and turned to face the man.

He did not seem happy that you had managed to break your handcuffs.

After removing the old ones and replacing them with yet another pair (Why, you couldn’t tell) you were led into a small room with a long metallic table and two chairs. Being herded into your seat you stared at the door that had shut behind you and groaned in annoyance.

Were you seriously about to be interrogated?

Before you could mull on that thought any longer the door opened once again and a man in a black suit with silver hair entered. Stepping towards the table in slow, measured steps (You assumed partly because of the cane) he took the other seat and gave you a wry smile.

“I must admit, Mr.Ferrum.” He begins, setting his cane against the table. “I was not expecting to meet you for another….twelve hours at least. Yet here I am and here you are, having thwarted a robbery.” He finishes, placing his elbows on the table and interlacing his fingers.

“You were expecting me?” You ask, looking at the man in surprise. Other than Khrone you had no real outside communication other than the occasional village or town you’d move through. If he knew who you are that would be bad. Very, VERY bad.

“But of course. Shouldn’t a headmaster be expecting his students?” He returned, the mirth in his voice more than evident.

It clicks in your head Beacon does in fact start in a little over ten hours and that by his own admission he was the headmaster of said academy.

“So you would be-”

“Ozpin, yes.” He answers, his small smile into a grin.

For a moment you look down at your hands before you look up at the man with curiosity in your eyes. “Why am I handcuffed and the girl isn’t?” You ask him. Clearly they don’t mean you any harm but they’ve still gone through the process of cuffing you (futility or not).

“Well...I have some questions, if I am honest.” He states bluntly, seemingly pulling a mug of coffee from nowhere and taking a sip from it. “You are a..very...interesting case. As is your companion.”

You look at the man for a moment before asking.

“I’m handcuffed because you have questions?” You manage to repeat slowly, glaring at the man as the words exit your mouth. Your hands gripping the armrests of the chair slowly bending them beneath the pressure.

“Now now, it isn’t for any nefarious reason I assure you.” Ozpin says, holding a hand up in a peaceful gesture before continuing. “You see you’ve been out of almost everyone's radar for some time, both of you have. When your name came across my desk with a plethora of false records naturally I was suspicious.” He says, his voice never raising in accusation or even irritation.

It bothered you.

“Glynda, who i’m sure you met, was tempted to reject both your applications in addition to a few other...unnamed individuals.” He continues, eyes never leaving yours. “However while most of these doctored applicants were rejected, one person in particular convinced me that both yourself and Mr. Palatine were more than capable and should be accepted.”

“And who would that be?” You ask, your anger subsided, for now.

“One General James Ironwood.” He says, and suddenly everything begins to make sense.

You knew Ironwood, or rather, you had known him. During your years with the Icarus program, the then Captain Ironwood had been part of the Atlas Military Specialist Program and had overseen parts of your training. You also knew that he had been horribly wounded during the fall, but ever since you and Khrone had fled the country the man had rarely crossed your mind.

“Why would he do that?” You manage to ask after a moment, flinching away from the man's gaze. “This is Vale, I’d have thought he’d want the two of us shipped back home.” You mutter in addition.

“Because while the good General couldn’t give me details about how he knew your combat prowess, he did argue that if you had been alive for all these years you were more than ready to handle a proper academy.” Ozpin answered. The casual tone in his voice not slipping, in fact he seemed rather amused at your discomfort.

“Does...this last evening effect anything with the coming day?” You ask, your anger replaced now with the nervousness of failure. To your dismay you only see knowing smirk of Ozpin.

“For you? No. These events change nothing for you. But for Ruby however…is another story.” He trails off, settling an leadened weight in your chest. You’d hate for all of this to bounce back on the poor girl.

“What do you mean?” You demand. Leaning forward as far as the chains of the cuffs would let you. You knew you could snap them with a mere thought but you don’t want to have to fight the man, or all the police officers outside.

“Ah, ah, ah” Ozpin chides. “How about we make this a bit of a game, shall we? I’ll answer your question if you answer one of mine?” He offers.

“What do you want to know”

After a moment he answers. And it’s an answer you were dreading.

“What was Icarus?”

At this you felt yourself immediately begin to question if the girl was worth answering this. Clearly Ozpin was in the dark about whatever had occurred there and to leverage some innocent girl against you for the information felt dirty. Incredibly so. But you couldn’t help but think back to the now isolated girl in that jail cell and you found your resolve.

“I can’t tell you much about all the actual projects there.” You heard yourself say, looking down as dozens of memories flashed through your mind. “But Icarus is actually an acronym: Intense Combat And Resource Utilization Settlement. On every map in the world the place doesn’t officially exist as a military program, because it wasn’t.” You pause, letting these words sink in.

“It was a settlement funded by most of the prominent families in Atlas, designed to raise a whole generation of huntsmen, engineers, scientists. Essentially it was to attempt to catch a political lead over the Atlesian military. Of course the military ends up sending some individuals but from all around remnant huntsmen and their families were PAID to move to this place, to raise their children as huntsmen for one thing and one thing only: the security and benefit of the rich and powerful.” You mutter, this information only made apparent to you after the I.C.A.R.U.S project had failed.

“What happened to it?” Ozpin asked after a moment, no doubt processing the new information you’d given him.

“I don’t know, well, not entirely.” You answer, looking at your arms. “For a while the program was working fine. Grimm were kept to a minimum and even then the place was built like a fortress, but then? One night everything fell apart. See there were incursions every once in awhile; Some beowulfs here, maybe a family of Ursa there….but this? It was like every grimm in Atlas had shown up for a massacre.” You go quiet after this, trying in desperation to put the emotional ball that had begun to form in your throat down. “Does that answer your question?” You ask.

He nods.

“What about Ruby?” You ask.

He gives a small cuckle before responding “Well, things change for her because.” He pauses, before eying you over. “What do you think of the girl?” He asks you suddenly.

You’re taken off-guard by the sudden question and it takes you a moment to begin processing it before again your brain derails to the realization at what he had done.

“You owe me two questions next time.” You say, before your brain begins to once again get to work.

“So I do.” He replies, leaning back a bit in his chair while you mull over the question.

You had not known the girl for long and in the time you had she had shown a myriad of sides and traits. She was energetic and eager to open up to people, but on the other hand was otherwise incredibly shy. She could talk to you for hours you had no doubt about every weapon and tool you could debate, but much like yourself you refused to talk about yourselves outside of the most bare minimum. To top it all off she was clearly skilled in the art of combat, and what little of the fight between her and Torchwick you had seen in addition to her flurry of attacks at you.

She was rough around the edges, but in her defense so were you, and Khrone....and most kids trying to be huntsmen for that matter.

“She is odd...nervous and skittish in anything that isn’t weapon theory, but it wouldn’t detract from her capacity as a fighter.” You pause, letting your praise settle in before you finish “however she can be reckless, and considering she ended up attacking me when I came to assist it shows...why?”

“I am debating giving her a place at Beacon, even with her youth. And your statement here only confirms what I was thinking.” He answers truthfully before standing, gripping his cane in his hand.

“I do apologize about all this, Mr. Ferrum, but I must depart. After all I do have to talk to Miss Rose about my offer. The guard outside this door will show you to your possessions and after that, you’re free to go.” Ozpin says, making his way to the door. Before he manages to leave however you call out to him.

“Headmaster...uh...you owe me a question still.” You remind him, standing and unintentionally tearing the chains.

The Headmaster Pauses before chuckling again.

“So I do...so I do.” He replies before stepping outside of the room and down the hall leaving you without an answer.

Standing you sheepishly look to the guard and hold out your wrists to allow him to take the cuffs off.
Again.

From there you quickly grab your scroll and wallet before making your way for the door.

The semi-cool autumn air bit at your face as you stepped out into the night. Checking your Scroll the time read back “2:45” You also saw that Khrone had sent you a series of messages, the last being at midnight. Giving a sigh of exasperation you began to trudge back to the hotel. You’d get more than likely six hours of sleep before getting up for the ten o’clock airship to the Academy.

The slow, fifteen minute tudge had left your brain hazy and tired. Your usually sharpened mind dulled significantly. By the time you had managed to undress yourself and remove your clunky brace you let you head sunk into the pillow you had fallen into a dream that, by morning, you wouldn’t remember. You’re back at I.C.A.R.U.S, but now you’re the age you are now. In your hand your battle axe, Labrys is clutched in a vice. Ahead of you the old forest is dark, broken up only by the beady red eyes of the Grimm.

Between the rattling trees and howling wind the roar of the grimm fills your ears and seems to shake the very grass leading up to the massive toward that sat at the center of the settlement.

A cold fury washes over you. You can feel every inch of your body and mind shifting towards one, overwhelming emotion.

Hate.

You can hear the usually quiet servos in your hands begin to whirr as you grip onto Labrys with your entire being. They took everything from you; Your home, your limbs, your family. And now they were here to do it all again.

Not if you had anything to say about it.

As if sensing your adamantine-resolve, the beasts gave up their fear tactic and began to charge. 300 feet, 250 feet, 150 feet.

The moment they crossed that boundary you sprang into action, your axe in your hands already changing into its shotgun configuration as if sensing your intentions. Sliding two slugs into the haft you continue your charge, letting out a roar of challenge to the first Grimm you had seen; an Ursa. At fifty feet you squeezed the trigger and watched in grim fascination as the beast's head snapped back before leaping at it, swinging your blade with your mechanical strength and severing its head from its shoulders.

Coming down to land atop its already dissolving corps you hear the rustle of grass behind you and twist on the spot, firing the second slug into the chest of a beowulf and sending it backwards. Slapping two dust shells into the chamber you straighten yourself only to find yourself surrounded by the horde of grimm.

You’ve become a hurricane of motion, blowing out the chest of one Ursa and using the recoil to spin your arm around to cleave into a pair of Beowulf's. You’re not fast but you don’t have to be, as your arms don’t tire you’re capable of going so long as your mind is. And for awhile you choose to stop thinking and instead simply allow yourself to revel in the slaughter of these basest of monsters.

You don’t know how long you keep at it. An hour? Two? Without a real means of keeping time you find yourself surrounded by the corpses of the grimm. The ground beneath you is slick with their bright florescent blood.

And yet they keep coming.

You don’t know what you stepped on but you feel your brace slip and found yourself on the floor. You were quick to get back to your feet but not quick enough. You heard the sickening sound of metal on teeth and suddenly you were jerked down and to your right. Looking down you found another Beowulf had gotten the jump and pinned your arm between its jaws; and with it, your axe. Reluctantly you drop the object, and reach over with your other arm to pry it off.

Gripping the beast by its top snout you gave a quick jerk you were given the satisfying view of the beasts upper jaw snapping off, freeing your limb. Before you could retrieve your weapon the rest of the downed beast’s pack had surged to stopped you.

You fear nothing as you continue to mow down grimm, though now the larger beasts have become more difficult to slay. Being forced to move around now had begun to drain your stamina. Though you continued to keep the Grimm from getting any lucky blows things once again begin to turn for the worst. Though the seemingly constant ringing of beowulfs around you did not fill you with any sort of comfort they had not stepped much closer than thirty feet.

It was the trio of ursa that had now entered this ring of carnage that worried you. While you could take one down with relative ease having more than that could be problematic. Steeling yourself as best as you could you rushed the smallest of the three bears, ducking under its lumbering swipe before delivering a straight haymaker to its kneecap. You couldn’t help but give a smirk at the sound of the bones in its leg snapping and falling to a knee, however you didn’t stop there. You let your Brace fire and with far greater force than even you expected you rocketed up at the beast's head, fist extended.

Unfortunately for you this action had not been what you had intended for and with your left fist now stuck in its lower jaw you were at the mercy of the Ursa and its companions.

You had to act, and if you had any chance of surviving the onslaught you had to. Reaching to your shoulder you ripped away the covering of the top of your arm and turned a small red lever. With a quiet pop you felt yourself falling as the arm that was trapped in the beast's lower jaw disconnected. Groaning at the impact with the ground you began to flee the beast and instead focus on the next ursa. Before your previous prey could even register that you had gotten away the present you had left it had detonated, a plume of blue fire and shrapnel encompassing its head, a rain of gore and bone fragments coming down above you.

Having to sacrifice your limb to escape filled you with a rage that bordered on insanity you rush towards the beast with an ungodly roar of rage exiting your mouth. Red fills your vision as you rush towards them. Your hand glows a dull yellow as you chop your hand through its leg, everything you come to contact with spattering into quicksilver mercury. Before the beast can even finish falling you melt a hole through its chest, their crimson blood now mingling with the silver in the pale moonlight above you.

Your roars and yells of rage turn into howling laughs of perverse joy as you stalk the alpha ursa, its massive frame blotting out the moon ahead of you. You stand unafraid in its shadow and as it rushes to charge you, you meet it; The unearthly yellow glow dimming as you meet its blow. Immediately its flesh begins to melt and boil like jelly as you continue to move THROUGH its arm, before taking the limb off at the shoulder. The beast howls in agony but you do not relent, carving a straight path across its torso to take its other limb.

Finally you give the beast mercy, slitting its throat and bathing in the silver and red spray that coats your skin. Turning to the rest of the horde you find yourself invigorated and you begin to let go of the thinking mind.

You Embrace the beast within.

Looking down at the stump of of your left arm you watch in morbid fascination as the grimmsblood and mercury bubble and spill, forming a twisted and parodied shape of bone, then muscle and flesh. You feel the heat, the burning sensation of the flesh as new blood pumps through your heart and sets your whole body aflame.

It feels good.

It Feels Right.

Shirking the blanket off of your body manage to stand and slowly rub your eyes clear of the crust in your eyes, ignoring the cool touch of your metal against your skin. Managing to sit yourself up you take a moment to breathe and reorient yourself. Setting your foot on the ground you slip your foot into your brace, spending the few seconds of practiced routine it takes to slip it back on. Feeling the internal pads press against your skin, you finally stand and walk your way to the small shower in the restroom.

Once you’ve managed to strip of your clothing you begin the process of cleaning yourself in the steaming warm water. Letting yourself focus on the warm water running down your skin, you try your best to recall the dream the night before. You can feel echos of it, brief flashes and sensations but other than that it feels like you simply...awoke. You feel it fading from your mind when you suddenly feel it.An angry, hot, burning feeling.

One that emanates from the core of your being.

Just as quickly as it arises it fades away and like a trick of the light you rationalize it must have been nothing. Before you can return to your morning ritual you hear Khrone knocking on your door before yelling “Just got an automated message with the docking bay. Get your ass in gear we need to get their early to meet some new faces!” He says before once again you’re met with the sound of running water.

>What do you do?

At first you’re more than happy to ignore Khrone’s whining. You’re well aware that he just wants to go and try and find new eye candy he can drool over, seeing as between the two of you he had been the far more...vocal about his enjoyment of the opposite sex. Perhaps it was just his natural confidence in comparison to your own stunted social growth due to everything. Maybe it was just he wasn’t capable of higher thought when he thought someone would be interested in him.

Maybe it was both.

Whatever the case you were content and enjoying your shower when the gears in your head ground to a halt and a single thought made you reconsider. The eccentric and energetic huntress-in-training you had met the past evening. If Ozpin had been serious about his offer to the girl you had no doubt that she’d accept. She was far too eager about her weapon to not be interested.

You wanted to see her again.

.

.

.

You immediately shake your head and refuse to let yourself think about that in depth! Sure she was pretty (among other things) and her eyes were the most unique you’d ever seen but No! No no no! You were NOT excited about it because of that. You were excited because she was a new friend! After all, after that bombshell with Violet shortly before I.C.A.R.U.S fell you refused to be so gullible.

Such thoughts were for people who weren’t freaks.

Finishing up your now cold shower you were quick to finish up your morning rituals before packing away your few possessions and strapping Labrys to your back. Nodding to Khrone you both had a silent agreement that the coming hours were perhaps going to be the most important ones since you left Atlas. This was going to be your first permanent home in almost ten years and no matter how casual the short haired tinkerer looked he was as nervous as you are.

You just hoped he didn’t realize your nerves were from Rub- No! Shut up brain!

So, OP. How long have we and Khrone lived out in the wild? We talking full on "Redneck innnawood" for years on end?
Cause with grimm running around, thats a damn scary prospect.
>>
>>1772366
We wanderers.
Means that we're proper 'ard.
>>
>>1772366

Well, to give some information to help. Your training formally started at five and Icarus fell when you were nine. You spent Two years in Atlas between training and building your new limbs and then left. You wandered for six years just the two of you. Wandering through towns and villages when you stumbled across them but otherwise completely dependent on one another.
>>
>>1772351
>A. Play it casual (as you’re able)
>>
>>1772369
Damn.
That explains our reaction to the first female encountered in probably a long time.
Also explains the social anxiety.

Dear gods I feel bad for the guy if he ever gets stuck in a crowd.
>>
>>1772373
That and the last girl we knew pulled the "you honestly thought I'd date you?" because we're a gammy legged freak.
>>
>>1772379
If that was before Icarus fell, we are talking about, what, 9 years ago? Before puberty?
Yea I think we can say the reaction is entirely understandable. Same with Khrone, honestly.

As a QM I like the idea of having a flawed character. Be it physical, social, mental or a combination. The problem I find is that a lot of times people will make a character that either doesn't really show any effect by the issues the players pick or just will completely ignore the idea.

So while yes you have a host of built in flaws, you also have a ton of built in strength to balance it. That and I think this sort of approach is fun for some interactions because you feel more 'real' in your characters skin.

I dunno...that's just me.
>>
>>1772383
Flaws are always more interesting then perfection, being skilled in some areas and weak in others is a very good thing unless (and this is a thing many players love doing) it turns the character into a overspecialized one-trick pony that cannot function outside of his/her chosen field.

But the direction we're going in here is great.
So its not just you.
>>
>>1772389

Thank you. It's nice to know i'm doing the right thing so far XD.

But yes i'll give this vote some time since we've got awhile. The next few posts once the trip to beacon begins will be...interesting.

Bandaging your arms up (With Krhone’s help of course) you let yourself relax as the comfort of no longer having your bare arms exposed floats over you. Slipping your jacket on that comfort doubles, with now little more than your wrapped hands being exposed. Stepping out into the warm sun you make your way down the main road towards the Vale Aeroport. To pass the time you bounce back and forth with Khrone in conversation, idly watching the other colorful characters and debating on their weapons.

Finally reaching the port and a short, joyful bureaucratic paperwork you find yourself in an open terminal filled with all sorts of huntsmen and huntresses-in-training. Every make and model and fashion of weapon gleaming in the morning glow. However for all the weapons that both you and Khrone are positively giddy about, there is something more important on your mind.

A certain huntress with a particular liking of the color red.

Before you can even start thinking about a way to slip away Khrone has vanished into the crowd, no doubt looking for people to mingle with. Leaving you completely alone in the crowd, though considering your plan this was as perfect as it left you free to find your newest acquaintance. At first you want to just simply plow through the crowd and just b-line it until you find her but you resist that urge. That’s too clingy too, you think. So you decide instead to just meander, let yourself wander the crowd.

You think you see her once or twice but you can’t be certain, finding amusement in that her height seems to obscure her from view. As you continue to watch the crowds you do notice a few...eccentric individuals in the bunch. The most perhaps being a rather...energetic girl and her companion who seemed to take it with a stride and patience that borderlined sage-like.

Another girl was an equally bizarre case, as it seemed that almost everyone around her was avoiding her like the plague; not that you could see why. She was attractive, at least physically. Maybe her personality was bad? You couldn’t be sure.

You’d continue to point out the many people when you finally saw Ruby. You couldn’t help but smile to yourself at the sight of her talking to-

It was at that moment that your brain froze and immediately regretted being so excited about finding the red reaper.

The Gir-no WOMAN, your brain told yourself beside her was the sort of beauty you rarely got to see. Just by her very appearance you felt your brain struggle to form a coherent thought that was not involving this mysterious figure who had now entranced your flustered brain. As much as you try to rip your eyes away from her you find yourself having difficulty getting your eyes to cooperate with your brain. Before you manage to do so however the worst possible case occurs.

Ruby sees you, and a face-splitting smile appears on her face before taking the girls hand and dragging her straight towards you.

Your entire brain is in anarchy. Your legs refuse to budge, your arms refuse to at least try and make yourself smaller. You’re literally stuck standing here watching your newest acquaintance and...this…

Your brain cannot even find words to describe her as your brain continues to attempt doing everything else simultaneously.

By the time they are within a few feet of you, this phenomenon only continues to intensify. Like Ruby this girl had a unique coloring to her eyes, in this case a light lilac. You’d almost compare it to Khrone’s deep amethyst but to do so would be a disservice to her. No doubt sensing the absolute rampant runaway reaction in your mind the girl gives you a small smirk and a wave.

“So, You’re Mr.Tall, Strong and dangerous, huh?” She asks, cocking her head and placing her right fist on her hip.

You’d love to respond at first but her voice is as captivating to your ears as her frame is to your eyes. After what is no doubt a far too pregnant pause you manage to regain at least some control, your left hand coming up to scratch at the back of your head.

“I...uh don’t know what you mean exactly.” You say, a chuckle escaping your lips as your jade eye meet her. If you still could, you’re almost certain your hands would be sweating already.

Her smirk becomes a playful smile “Modest too! Wow Rubes, you really found a keeper.” She praises, much to Ruby’s clear discomfort as she blushes and hides a bit behind the girl. For a moment your brain latches onto that and your hopes raise, but the icy feeling of your own experiences tell you otherwise.

“Yaaaaannnnnnng!” Ruby whines, pounding her fists weakly against the now named Yang. “Don’t make fun of meeee~ He’s cool!” She assures, stepping out from behind the girl to glare at her. Though the height difference only seems to make her threat less intimidating.

“Hey now, don’t sell yourself short, Ruby.” You hear yourself saying; You don’t even know exactly where you’re going and considering the sentence was already leaving your lips you realized just how fucked you may very well be.

“You really know how to work the shaft. If what you showed me is anything to go by.”

The moment her face shifts you realize something has gone terribly wrong. You don’t understand it! After all, you were only trying to praise Ruby’s ability to wield her scythe and yet the face before you seemed to be one of pure anger. When you see her fist begin to clench and Ruby’s shift in posture your hunch becomes a definite.

You had made a mistake.

Before you can even utter an apology you can see the fist moving towards you in slow motion. You weren’t sure if it was the adrenaline or the fear of imminent death at the hands of Yang that was causing the effect, or was Khrone using his semblance? You couldn’t be sure.

What you were sure of is that as her hand cocked itself back and began to fly forward your own arm came up, bandaged hands extended. Ruby seems to see this and her eyes widen, no doubt fearing for your safety but you ignore it.

You’d be fine right.

Closer and closer the her fist came, her eyes narrowed as she aimed for your chest. Just as she got within arms reach however your hand met hers and clasped your fingers around the flesh of her hand. You were expecting the blow to halt there, yet it didn’t.

You could feel the vibrations from the impact shaking up from your hand into your collar. Just how strong was this girl!?

Before you could even contemplate that however you felt the servo locks in your brace engage and tensed your muscles, praying to god that the impact would halt. After a few inches of give in your elbow she does, her eyes wide with shock equally to your own fascinated face.

“H-how!?...I mean that's not!” She stutters for a moment, her fist still clenched in your own. “You’re not getting away with doing that to Ruby!” she exclaims, trying to get her hand free.

“Get away with what?!” You return, baffled. “She attacked me!”

For a moment she seems to contemplate that, and seeing Ruby’s pleading face she breaks out into a smile before laughing nervously, hand running through her blonde locks “I uh...yeah, I knew that!” She says, clearly lying. “Just testing your reflexes is all” She excuses.

You look to Ruby, trying to understand the hostility you just had to go through but before you can get an answer Yang pipes up.

“Sorry about that uh..i’m a bit overprotective of my sister you see.” She finally explains, though this only brings up more questions than answers. They were siblings? How?! I mean, Yang was...no, we’re not getting into THAT again.

You give a smile and nod to her “It’s alright, I understand I guess. Sibling protection and all that.” You reply, thinking of your own bond with Khrone. However as much as you want to just push it behind you, you cannot help but be wary. In the future you’ll have to ensure such a thing happens.

Having now been brought into their small social group you find yourselves sitting in the terminal and discussing some bits and pieces of their growing up in the small village of Patch. You can’t be certain yourself if you’ve ever been there, but you nod along and do your best to deflect from your own past.

“So, Lucius, where are your gauntlets?” Ruby asks, peaking Yang’s interest.

“Oh yeah! She said you used gauntlets, just like me!” She cheers, the wrist bracelets expanding out into large yellow gauntlets “May I present, Ember Celica!” She says with pride, letting you admire their craftsmanship before retracting them.

Guys, these puns are seriously getting out of hand

We certainly could get a leg up on Yang in the puns

Given everything perhaps the humor route would be the way to go. Concentrating on disconnecting your arm, you begin to lose feeling and give a small chuckle.

“About that Ruby...they aren’t my weapon.” You say, extending your hand out to Yang. For a moment she looks confused before tentatively gripping it. Noticing that your right hand is entirely numb your grin internally and lean back a bit, watching as your arm droop in her hand as the weight is no longer supported by your body.

Ruby is clearly frozen and Yang has no idea what to say as there is a clear six inches between where your arm is and the shoulder it used to be attached to. “Oh no…” you start, deadpan before giving giving a wide grin. “It appears I have been disARMED.” You say before laughing.

For a moment nobody says anything but all then Yang begins to laugh, throwing her head back and letting out a sound you would do anything to hear again. Ruby herself gives out a groan, clearly not appreciating the pun.

“Oh my god! Ruby you never told him that he had a sense of humor too! Better be careful there Tiger or I might keep you for myself.” She teases, giving a sly grin.

You can feel yourself blushing at the idea but swallow your nerves and continue with the next part of the joke.

“I don’t suppose you could give me a Hand.” You ask, giving her a small smile.

(Cont. Just figured you might like to see the beginnings of this)

Once the laughter and groans of disapproval died down you felt the usual tingly and slightly painful sting of the arm reattaching Ruby looks at you, a pout on her face.

“So...it’s just the one right?” She asks, her voice quiet.

After a moment you shake your head. “Both are gone. Same deal on the other side, you saw them.” You say, and you can see the frown turn into an unexplainable expression. Even Yang for a moment seems to be unsure and her usual smile turns to a slight frown before smiling again, snapping her fingers!

“That explains why you could catch my punch! Damn those things must be strong as hell.” She exclaims, getting a small smile out of you.

“It’s...not something I usually like bringing up, hence the bandages.” You explain. You don’t know exactly why you’re even telling them that part, it's not like they’re obligated to keep your secret.

Before you can continue contemplating the sudden ball of panic in your chest Ruby leans over and pokes your shoulder. “You said they weren’t your weapon.” She starts, her eyes glued to the blades of the axe poking behind you. “Is this it?” She asks.

Reaching behind you you pull your compacted axe clear of its sheathe and hold it out for her to see. While you’d love to give her the full rundown of the intricacies of your simple weapon, its size would be dangerous with so many people around. Before you can deny her the request you see her big pleading eyes and even Yang is curious as to just what sort of weapon it is in full.
“Considering how big this thing gets how about this.” You start, looking at Ruby. “Once we get to Beacon and we have some space I’ll show you mine, if you show me yours.” You finish suggesting and you see Ruby’s face light up like a kid on their birthday, and nods furiously. You notice out of the corner of your eye Yang is glaring but biting her tongue. You can’t tell exactly what she thinks you're implying but you shrug it off.

You win some and you lose some.

The three of you pass the time like this, making idle talk when suddenly you feel the hairs on the back of your neck stick up. ‘Oh no.’ you think to yourself.

You know this feeling.
