>The Intro
Hey y'all. If you couldn't tell, this quest will be taking place in the well known DC Comics universe. Here there be gods and monsters, magicians and aliens, and even a clown or two. But bear in mind that due to various time travel related and or multiversal shenanigans, the DC world is ridiculously complex as a whole. So I'll be running a very streamlined version of it. And to be up front about it, it will likely be shaped by my own likes, dislikes, and biases.
Oh, and aforementioned shenanigans won't be making an appearance.
Mostly.

>The Rules
I will write up the life of our young hero Morgan Barret, a high school student who has just truly begun his career as a superhero in Gotham City as Gray Ghost, you will be given prompts to direct him.
Some things will require a dice roll to determine success or failure or something else entirely. Write In's are absolutely encouraged but I reserve the right to torpedo anything.

The voting period will last 20 minutes after the prompts are given. I will then announce the voting closed and write up the chosen response.

>The Dice
We will be using 1d100 ninety percent of the time here. Best of three. We might use something else when applicable. I'll be running with a loose sort of degrees of success/failure thing here so no real DCs.

>The Point
Let's have some fun.

Your name is Morgan Barret, most of the time. Tonight, for the first time, you're someone else. You're Gray Ghost. You've come to an alley in a suspiciously empty part of downtown to work a mission with Robin. And now he's telling you that the job he's got lined up will take more than just the two of you. So to that end, he's gathered some of the other young heroes he's met during your training and before.

You and Robin approach the alleyway at an easy stride, allowing you to check out the new people before you're properly introduced. The first one that catches your eye is a guy clad in red tactical gear, pockets and pouches line his waist and torso, and he has a large boxy quiver of arrows sitting on his back. He whistles a slightly annoying tune as he idly spins an arrow between his fingers. Then the second thing you notice is that for some reason he's wearing a ballcap in addition to a domino mask that's similar to Robin's.

Secondly, There's a girl with long dark hair done up in a ponytail that seems to be doing her level best to ignore the one in red's whistling by gazing up at the night sky. But her hair is far from her most striking feature. She's tall for a girl and her nearly all black outfit strangely sparkles like the sky she's looking at. A length of platinum colored cord rests on her waist that matches her shiny bracers.

And finally, a guy hanging back from the others just slightly. He's got a close shaven light colored head of hair that clashes against his dark skin tone, wears a skin tight red and black outfit and stands next to the guy in all red. Chatting about something. Must be business given the serious look on his face. What looks like a pair of handles stick out from over his shoulders.

It's not like you don't recognize at least two of em, Speedy and Aqualad have both been on tv plenty of times. Alongside GA and Aquaman respectively. But the tall girl, nope. Never seen her before. Your glad no one can see your eyes under the goggles cause you're havin a hard time lookin away right now.

>Continued
>>
>>1766717
As you and Robin come into view, Aqualad straightens up even further somehow and but the other two are much more relaxed. And Speedy finally stops whistling and shoves his arrow away in his quiver. "Took you long enough, Boy Wonder."

"Well, you know I'm always telling you to chill out. I thought the Gotham winter air would do you good."

"Don't forget about me." You hear Artemis' familiar voice before she comes out of the dark of the other side of the alley near the others. "Figured one more archer wouldn't hurt."

Robin looks surprised for once. "I thought I couldn't convince you?"

"Technically you didn't, Canary convinced me I should see what it's like to be on a team."

Speedy seems the most surprised to see her. "Ponytail! Didn't think I'd see you in Bat Country."

"Didn't think I'd see you here either Speedy but here we both are." Damn. What'd he do? You don't think you've heard her take a tone like that with anyone before.

Though the tall girl actually goes in for a hug. One which Artemis returns. "It is good to see you again, Artemis. I hope your aim remains true."

"It hasn't been that long Wonder, I'm as sharp as ever. Maybe even a little sharper."

Even Aqualad says hello, though he settles for a handshake. "I am glad to have someone like you on this mission... and It is good to see you."
She just laughs off his awkwardness and pulls him in for a half hug.

Then it comes to you. "First time we actually worked together eh?"

"Mhm. Let's hope Ted didn't make you sweat for nothing." Her smile proves she meant nothing by the jab.

You grin beneath the mask. "Oh, just you wait blondie. I might surprise ya."

After everyone's done, Robin begins gesturing for everyone to gather around. Once everyone is in a circle he begins. "Alright, only about half of us gathered here have worked together before. So introductions are in order." He looks to you. "I trust them, they already know who I am and Artemis and each other. But you don't have to share if you don't want to."

You think on it for a second, and shrug. "If you trust em, I don't see why not. Plus if we all share we can hold each other accountable."

Speedy whistles. "I like the way the new guy thinks. I might as well start." He turns to the side and spits some gum out to the side, and flashes a cheeky smile. "Name's Roy. Roy Harper. Codename Speedy. If you know Artemis, then you know what I do."

In the corner of your eye you see Artemis make a face at his intro for just a second. Deciding not to dwell on it you just nod and the tall girl goes next. She puts her hand over her heart and stands at attention before speaking. "I am Donna Troy of Themyscira. The Paradise Island. My identity is not much of a concern as I do not truly belong to this outside world. I am a warrior just as Diana, Wonderwoman. And thus I have been called Wondergirl by the people here, and I have grown fond of the name."

>Continued
>>
>>1766722
That. That's some introduction. You just nod again, lest you say something stupid after that flawless intro. So it's Aqualad's turn. He looks down before saying anything, maybe trying to find the right words? "I am Kaldur'ahm of Atlantis. I am known on the surface world as Aqualad, as apprentice to my King. If you know Aquaman, you should be acquainted the abilities of an atlantean. I am also formally trained in atlantean sorcery. " Somehow it's only now that you notice the complex tattoos on his arms, and the deep ridges on either side of his neck. Gills.

Robin is looking pleased with himself for the team he's assembled, so you better not disappoint. "My names Morgan. Codename is Gray Ghost. I'm still kinda new but I'm fresh off my training so I won't letcha down. My shtick is a little hard to explain, just know I can probabaly break into most things and it's hard to touch me at all."

Everyone accepts your introduction without any fuss and soon Robin is gathering everyone's attention to the holographic display coming from his gauntlet, showing a big stylized H. "Now, the reason were all here tonight is as follows. Me and the big guy have been tracking an organization known only as H.I.V.E. So far, we can tell that at least one of their major purposes is training assassins and mercenary types. In addition to a whole smorgasbord of crimes like human experimentation, kidnapping, indoctrination... the list goes on."

He taps a few buttons on the display and it flips to show the general layout of a building underground right below you all. "They've had a base, a small one in comparison to others, right in Gotham. Under our noses for who knows how long. Tonight, that changes. A week ago, The Batcomputer began picking up signals that shouldn't even be able to come from this area. That's what lead us to discover it. We believe that it's a cry for help from someone within the facility. So we have three objectives. Find our mystery whistleblower and evacuate them if need be, retrieve all the data we can from the place, and then shut down the facility however we can. Any questions?"

After no one speaks up, Robin continues. "So were going to be splitting up into three teams of two. And go after our objectives. Ghost. You're with...

I'd say our gift lends itself to stealth approach and data retrieval.

I'd wager a guess that Wondergirl and Aqualad will want to do the rescue and Robin and Speedy would shut down the base.

I'd take Artemis or Robin with us, but I guess Robin would be better suited for the base shutdown?

Robin presses a few more buttons on his display and an overlapped double GG and a big W appear in the corner of your hud. "Ghost, you're with Wondergirl on base shutdown. It's tempting to put all of our biggest muscle in one place but if we see the same opposition as last time we don't wan't all of our muscle in one place."

Wondergirl pats you on the shoulder casually. With a bit more strength than you expected, even given where she's from. "I look forward to our work together. Artemis speaks well of you and I'd like to see your abilities for myself in battle."

You just do your best to pretend she didn't just almost casually slap you over. "Yeah, we'll be a regular dynamic duo. Operation shutdown is a go."

Robin is still typing away on his display. "Okay, Speedy. You and Aqualad are on rescue. And Artemis and I will be on data retrieval. Once were inside the base. I'll obtain waypoints so we all know where to go."

"And just how are we gonna get in?" Speedy questions. "Don't suppose they've got a secret elevator?"

----

"Well shit, they've got a secret elevator." Speedy remarks as Robin shows you all a scan that reveals an elevator behind a fake wall inside of a nearby completely abandoned building. Wondergirl immediately goes to force it open, but Robin stops her and hands you a small red decive.

"Plant this on the console inside I'll have remote access, we don't want them to know were here until it's too late." You accept the device and stow it in your belt. Now it's time to get loose. You allow the familiar tingling sensation to overtake your body as you become a gray cloud of dust and gently float through the incredibly small crack between the false walls and into the elevator. It's in stark contrast to the outside of, very white. very bright, and very clean. Once you spy the control panel inside you slap on Robin's device and after just a moment it blinks and the doors and false walls open at Robin's behest.

Everyone crowds inside while Robin continues to tap away on his gauntlet assuring you all that he's in control of the elevator cameras. Soon you all discover that it's a bit of a long way down as you all stand in silence inside of the creepily quiet elevator. Every now and again, someone fidgets or does a quick gear check.

"Soooo, Ghost?" Speedy speaks up.

"Yeah?"

"Can you turn anything into smoke and stuff like that?"

"No, just myself and whatever is on me."

"But, you can't like grab something, like a bomb. And just, poof it away?"

"Nope. Tried 'poofing' things away before. It just doesn't work like that I guess."

"But you can take something from Robin, something you didn't have on you before, and it's fine?"

You raise a finger to respond, but it deflates when you realize you don't really have an answer for that. "Metahuman powers are weird man."

Speedy shrugs. "You said it."

>Continued

Soon enough, the elevator dings and everyone immediately drops into position for a fight as soon as the doors open. Robin is still on his gauntlet's display. "There are 10 guards outside. All armed with machine guns and armored up. They don't play around. So we won't either. We take them out as silently as possible when I open the door to give us a headstart, then we all move to our objectives. Ready?" Everyone gives their silent affirmation. "Go!"

The doors slide open quickly and the two guards immediately at either side of the elevator eat shit as Aqualad produces two hammers made from water of all things and slams them against either wall. Then he ducks and Artemis and Speedy stick two guards each with a taser arrows. Right in the neck! That's gotta fucking sting. Wondergirl nods to you before flying out of the elevator at high speeds. She could absolutely handle herself.

But how do you wanna handle yourself?

>Fly out after her, try to play off of her moves. You should get used to it if she's gonna be your partner on this mission.

Yeah, let's not take any chances on this one. You step out and allow your body to disperse and cover the walls up near the ceiling in a rectangle, obscuring the cameras. You head down the hall at a sprint while Aqualad shields the inside of the elevator from gunfire with a literal shield of water and join Wondergirl in the fray.

You take one look at her smashing armor to bits with single blows and snapping guns in half over her knee and think to yourself, Nah. And run up to the remaining three guards that have been trying to gun you down ever since you stepped off of the elevator. The bullets barely register as they pass through your cloudy form. Put the guards seem to put their faith in the hail of bullets until the last second when you harden your fists and shatter the visor on the first one with a right hook. And immediately throw a strong left into the gut of the man next to him, you feel the armor crack a bit under your fist and the last one tries something a little more drastic.

The fucker pulls out a grenade and slips his finger into the ring to pull the pin. You nearly panic for a just a moment, having no idea what explosives will do to you. But your training kicks in before doubt does. You leap on him, all smoke and dust. He tries to shake you off but it's like fighting the wind. You harden your arms and wrap them around his neck and arm holding the grenade and flip him onto the ground, pinning his arm behind his back and wrenching the grenade from his hand. Pin still in place. You deliver a swift elbow to his helmet for the trouble he gave you and call it done.

They must be payin these guys a shit load to pull a risky move like that. Once all is quiet, Robin and the others join you and Wondergirl and Robin runs over to a nearby console on the wall. He takes an extendable cord from his gauntlet and plugs in directly. And holds a up a finger for about one tense and silent minute before his display chirps. "Bingo. All right, their surveillance system is now useless but their gonna investigate so we should all get moving. Ghost, I've sent you a map of the place to help you and Wondergirl in your objective. Remember to radio in any problems team. Were splitting up, but you're not alone."

With that, you allow your dust to snap back into you since it's no longer needed and you all head deeper into the facility and spit into different directions. Wondergirl stops you as you reach an intersection in the hall. "We should consult our map. Their is more than one way to slay most beasts. This place should be no different."

"Uh, right. You got a point there." You run a finger along your goggles rim and get a better view of the map Robin sent you. Looks like Wonder was right. You've got more than one way of going about this.

>Their power supply ain't so far from here, that combined with our other objectives should close the doors on this place for good.
>There are some major supports I can see here. Why not just tear the whole thing down? We can tell anyone inside to evecuate before it comes down?

After eyeing the map for a moment you come to decision. "Their power supply ain't so far from here, that combined with our other objectives should close the doors on this place for good."

Wondergirl snaps her fingers. "Strike the heart of the beast. A tried and true method, Gray Ghost. Let us make haste then."

You up a hand and call Robin on the comms. "Letting you know, me and Wonder are going after their power. I'll let you know before we shut 'er down."

Robin whispers back over the line. "Good, Artemis and I are nearing our objective and have gone uncaught so far. I'll call if we finish first. Robin out."

Wondergirl follows after you since you've got the map in front of your eyes and you both head down yet another series of hallways that all look the same. These HIVE assholes need to get a sense of style. You were expecting something like, hexagons everywhere a golden honey color being on everything. Sure, the guards you just beat were wearing armor of that color but your just surprised by how generic these hallways are.

Soon you're boredom is replaced with adrenaline as you and Wondergirl happen upon several guards patrolling the halls and make quick work of them. Her lasso moves like it has a mind of it's own, she wraps enemies into bundles and uses them against their buddies or just slams them into the walls. Sometimes you wonder what it's like to be that strong. Does she have to be careful not to explode her bottle of toothpaste in the morning when she squeezes? And she can fly down these halls before the goons can even react, even for someone like you it's all a bit crazy.

You move in on your own right beside her as their attempts at attack all just pass though you. You'd call it unfair, but knowing what these guys are all about, it's hard to give a shit about fairness. Your hardened limbs make short work of their armor, though not in the same spectacular fashion that Wondergirl does. Soon you and Wondergirl are in the hallway leading to where you wanna go and you're met with a big crazy looking steel door.

The amazon steps aside and lets you get to work, you disperse and begin to feel your way through the crack and crevices of the machine. It's definitely taking longer than with that false wall, but you'll be on the other side soon, and then you can open up for her without a fight. But first, you'll have to worry about what might be on the other side of this.

You finally get your whole amorphous from through to the other side and sink to the floor. Even in this state you can tell that there are people around. You slide across the floor to the underside of a desk and peak over once your body reasserts itself. The layout of the room is simple. On the ground floor sits some kind of giant generator, it's humming fills the whole room. Up higher, thank to the very high ceiling is a catwalk wrapping around the generators. What you assume to be workers or scientists mill about in the room, but only a few.

But you're not totally concerned about them. You spy two individuals you know you have to look out for. A bald woman, with a darker skin tone wearing an excessive amount of gold jewelry and a very small man in some sort of mechanical harness that walks across the catwalk with spider like legs. You open comms and whisper. "Wondergirl?"

She comes on immediately. "What is it? Something wrong?"

"We have two guests here. I think they're important." You relay their appearances and she just sighs.

"Jinx and Gizmo, members of the Fearsome Five. We have clashed before. And we knew they sold their services but two see them here? It makes one wonder if the other three are nearby."

You peak over the counter and while you can't hear them from where you are, Jinx just looks bored as hell and Gizmo looks as though he's mumbling to himself. "What makes em so fearsome?"

"Jinx is a witch, she can induce foul luck and has a number of other magical maladies at her disposal. And Gizmo never seem to run of out of his destructive gadgets. They are both formidable."

Shit. You'd better consider your options here.

"Listen Wondergirl. I'll let you in if things go pear shaped but I'm going to try and take out Jinx before she becomes a problem. Get on the comms and let the others know about our friends." You begin to disperse and lower yourself to the floor.

"Yes. I see, just make sure not to face too great a foe without your team. It's why we're all here." She doesn't sound happy about it but she's letting you do things the way you want so you'll just take it for now.

Once you're fully dispersed you sink to the floor and flow across it from desk to desk. The floor space in here is pretty empty but you end up walking circles around the people in the room. Walking? Floating? Whatever. You head up to the indian woman. She's bored out of her mind, examining her nails and sighing every know and again. She should've at least tried to stay alert.

Then maybe this wouldn't have happened.

Your cloud reaches up and you half form behind her. Your hand wraps around her mouth and you jerk her down behind a desk. You from your body around her and pin her to the floor, just as her eyes begin to glow a light purple color you smack her in the back of the head and she takes a nap. Phew. That was fuckin strange. You could feel whatever she was about to do and it wasn't pleasant.

You've got no clue how long baldie will stay down so you'd better work fast.

You spy the little gremlin up on the catwalk and radio in to WG. "Hey, Jinx is indisposed. Only Gizmo is left then I'm gonna open the door and we lay the hurt on this generator."

"Understood, I am at the ready." Wondergirl sounds eager to get back into action. Let's not keep the lady waiting.

You disperse again but this time you creep up and along the side of the generator, keeping out of the sight of the people working and Gizmo, staying behind him at all times. He walks about on his mechanical legs, muttering to himself and occasionally stopping to type something into a wrist computer on his suit, similar to Robins. You get an idea once you get close though, you halfway return to your solid state and reach into your belt for some capsules that rapidly expand into some very sticky goop designed to suppress fires.

Holding in a giggle you drop a few of them into his collar and he immediately stiffens up and reaches back in vain to get them, his arms too short to reach. "What?! What the fu-"

The capsules blow and expand a sticky material into the inner workings of his mechanical frame and it starts to stutter and falter as he tries to regain control. He turns around finally, cursing like a drunk sailor all the while and freezes when he sees you. "Goodnight, Tiny." A single boot to the face and he's down, hard. Your bootprint on his face along with cracked goggles.

With both of the major threats down you and leap off of the catwalk and gently float down, startling everyone else in the room with your seemingly abrupt appearance. No one else in this room is a fighter though, and none try to stop you as you walk up to the door and casually allow Wondergirl inside. She walks inside, lasso ready, but relaxes when she sees Jinx lying on the floor and Gizmo's spider legs hanging limp over the catwalk. "You took them both on your own so easily. I'm impressed."

You get ready to call Robin and shrug. "The element of surprise is a helluva drug. And I had a great teacher." Robins comms open. "Gray Ghost here, Our end is clear, Jinx and Gizmo are down and we're about to shut the power off." You wait for a response and after silence hangs over the comms you start to worry. "Robin? We-"

"I hear you! Artemis and I are a bit busy, and Aqualad and Speedy have it worse. But we got the data. Can you be ready to shut down the power on my cue?"

"Um..." You look over the console and then back up at the generator. Shit, how were you gonna shut this down? The computer system is foreign to you and Wondergirl could probably destroy this thing if she had time-

Wondergirl steps up "Allow me, Gray Ghost." She throws her lasso around a nearby man in a labcoat and pulls him close, he falls to his knees and tries not to look Wondergirl in the eye.

But she looks cool as ice. "My lasso compels you. How do we shut down the generator permanently?"

The man begins sweating bullets but he can't stop himself from blabbing. "All you need to do is set all of the power outputs to maximum, it'll be too much for the capacitors and they'll blow."

Wonder just smiles. "Well then. She releases him and knocks him over in one smooth motion and turns to you. "Tell our leader that we have fulfilled our objective."

Wow. Uh. "Okay Robin, we can turn the lights off at your say so. You ready?"

He's silent again for just a moment. "Ready!" You slide all of the levers all the way up and increase the outputs at the main console. The generator starts humming louder and louder until you hear a few muffled pops and the lights die.Over Robin's comms you hear another explosion and... the sound of someone roaring?

Robin comes back on to the comms shortly after. "I've found us another exit, sending the waypoint now. Be there as soon as you can!"

"Got it. We've gotta move Wondergirl." You run back into the hallway with WG flying beside you, but then you get another call over comms. It's Aqualad. "What's up?"

"We require assistance! We have the whistleblower but Speedy and I are pinned down here." The calm and collected hero actually sounds pretty freaked.

"Me and Wondergirl are on our way, hold em off for a bit longer!" You look at Wonder and she nods, having heard the conversation over her own comms. And you both speed up to go to your teammates aid. Soon enough you run through a door that looks as though it's been sliced open. And now you can see why Aqualad and Speedy are having so much trouble. You enter the room as Speedy is behind cover taking shots at an armored figure that's either dodging or reflecting everything he's shooting, and Aqualad is facing him up close with a sword and shield made of water in either of his hands.

The way this guy moves, like nothing you've ever seen. He wields a sword in one hand and a pistol in the other as if it were as easy as breathing.

Here we go.

>Join Aqualad and Wondergirl in the melee, fuck him up!

You run in, you and Wonder split off as soon as you're clear in the room. She flies straight for him, he turns his head just a fraction and fires at her while fighting off Aqualad with his blade. Wonder is undeterred though, deflecting the shots easily with her bracers. You run across the room in a semi solid state, and you feel a couple bullets pass through you, despite the fact that the armored guy is fighting off two powerhouses already.

You're getting close to Speedy and you almost stop short when he catches a bullet in the shoulder, he curses and goes back behind his cover and you're distracted just enough to miss the bounding canister right in front of you. It explodes, and your whole world goes white for a moment. Then dark, your ears are ringing like you're standing in a fuckin belfry. A flashbang? Damn, If that-

Pain. Some much pain. You stumble and fall to a knee and clutch your upper chest. You feel something hot in your hand as you peel it off of your costume. A bullet. He shot you. The flash must've thrown you off just long enough to make you solid. You turn back to the 2 on 1 and the dude is still facing off against Aqualad and Wondergirl without missing a beat, he did that while fighting them alone? Fuck.

You gather yourself and fly across the room in cloud form quickly to avoid any more incidents. You're armor saved you from a gunshot wound but even still, this guy is something else. You reform beside a still cursing Speedy and his charge. Who practically squeaks in fear when you arrive. Ot's just a girl, just some redhead girl. No older than you and the rest of the team.

Shaking that off for now, you help Speedy up and he peels the bullet off of his armor as well and spits as he throws it aside. "This mother again, Robin's escape ain't gonna cut it if he's around."

"You fought this guy before? How'd you stop him before?"

"Calls himself Ravager, got a real hate-boner for us for some reason. We only fought him a couple times, and we didn't win. Not really. Might just need to escape again." He runs his fingers across his arrows and tightens his cap before readying himself to fire again. "How do you wanna play this?"

>"You got any big gun-arrows then nows the time to use em. I'll follow your lead."

"If you distract him, I might be able to drop on him and surprise him. You got anything in that quiver that can do the job?"

Speedy feels around in behind his back for a moment before nodding. "Yep, I've got just the thing. I'll lay down cover fire, you do your spooky thing. Red will be safe behind here in the meantime."

You glance at the girl huddled in the corner, trying to be as small as possible, and give Speedy a thumbs up before dispersing again. You creep over the rubble they're hiding behind and stay low to the ground and try to go from cover to cover as often as possible. You've gotta try harder than ever to stay unseen. You begin to make your way up the wall and soon enough you're looking down at the ongoing melee between two of your new teammates and this Ravager. Speedy sees you in position and launches a blinking arrow, just as he shrugs off another onslaught from Wonder.

The arrow lands between Ravagers legs and for just a split seconds, nothing happens and you begin to question Speedy's competency before the thing explodes in that same sort of fire suppressing goo that you used earlier. Ravager, acts fast. But he's not counting on you.

Time to tip the scales. You return to a solid state and fall, returning to a semisolid state just before you land on him and slam a right hook into his helmet just as he notices you. Wondergirl decides to capitalize on his balance being thrown by slamming into him from the side, Aqaulad allows his weapons to melt into their liquid state and he gathers them below Ravagers feet.

"Speedy! Now!" Aqualad yells.

Speedy pops from behind his cover in full and launches another arrow, landing true in front right in Ravagers chest armor. You doubt it penetrated but it didn't have to. Aqualad's tattoos glow and he raises the water over Ravager just as the arrow goes off in a shock white explosion. It's the cryo-arrow, just like Artemis used! Except we nailed it this time. Ravager is encased in ice.

Finally. This was fighting off four heroes all alone, if he was here. Who was Robin and Artemis having trouble with. Once it's clear he's not busting out immediately like some kinda sword wielding kool-aid man you all relax and Aqualad gets on comms. "Aqualad to Robin, we have the whistleblower. are you clear for escape?"

He pops up over your comms too. "We are, meet us at the waypoint I've sent. And make it quick, Mammoth never stays down long."

Speedy and the girl come down and Aqualad starts to say something before you all hear a cracking sound. All eyes immediately turn to the ice cube and no sooner than you notice the glowing red seams in his armor, he bursts out of his icy prison in spectacular fashion. And throws his long sword like a fucking javelin directly at the redhead!

In moments like these, you don't act. You just react. The blade flies past WG and Aqualad. The latter of which attempts to stop it with a water shield, to no avail. Wondergirl is preparing to throw her lasso but there's no time! Speedy can barely even register what's coming for the girl were protecting. And so, you just act. You disperse and reassert yourself quickly to appear in the swords path, harden your arms and throw them up in front of yourself in a classic defensive stance.

The blade fucking bites despite your abilities and the armor built into your suit. It's buries itself just barely into your forearms and stops. It stays in them until you lowers your arms and it falls to the floor. Fuck! fuck fuck fuck, that stings like nothing you've ever felt in your life! What is that thing made of?! If he was swinging it you would've lost your goddamn arms. The pains and blood-loss making you nearly lose your footing.

The armored guy doesn't even retaliate after his attack fails. He laughs. He just laughs and laughs. It sounds like gravel in a blender coming through the obvious voice changer in his helmet. "There's more of you now. Of course there are." He throws rolls his head from side to side and produces a damn ghastly sound when he casually pops his shoulder back into place. WG probably did that. "Oh well, s'not so bad." He draws two daggers from sheaths on his legs. "I get to kill more Titans."

He lowers himself and launches into a heavy sprint, moving faster than any normal human should. Until an arrow nails him. A green arrow. He looks at it, slightly perplexed until the arrow pops and produces a ton of smoke, some of it shimmering and shining in the low light. Aqualad places a webbed hand on your shoulder. "It's time to go."

You all sprint the hell out of there, running past the timely Artemis and Robin. Speedy turns hits the door frame with three explosive arrows on the way out. Collapsing the doorway just as you were beginning to hear more gunshots. Speedy runs beside you with the girl in tow. "That oughta give us about 3 extra seconds before he shoots us in the back."

Aqualad looks over his shoulder and gives him a look. "Speedy, try and be a bit more positive around our charge."

The poor girl is terrified, the golden emergency lights barely illuminate her face as she keeps looking back over here shoulder for Ravager. Speedy hangs his hat lower over his eyes, presumably in shame as you as you all make your way down to Robin's waypoint.

It appears that Robin's escape plan. Is a hole in a wall. Brilliant. "It's perfectly safe, it leads into the sewers from here and I know those almost as well as the streets, c'mon!"

Everyone hops down through the hole in the wall panel and you all make your escape more or less clean. Everything calms down the farther you get away from the escape hatch you used. Robin leads the way while everyone else follows.

You say you got away clean but one look around shows that no one walked away unscathed. Robin's cape is ripped and he lost one of his gauntlets. Artemis doesn't even have her quiver and his jacket is ripped in several places. Aqualad and Wondergirl are sporting bruises and cuts from their scuffle with Ravager.

Speedy got shot and so you did you. Let's not forget the sword in your arms. But you got the whistleblower, scared but safe. And you shut their base down. Robin says he got what they need but what we wanted from their database has always been a little unclear. Ugh. This walk is taking forever, and you're starting to feel where you took a bullet. Not fun.

Sorry for the delay guys, looks like we mostly wanna check on the girl, ask Robin how we did on our first outing and talk to Speedy.

You pick up the pace of your walk until your next to Robin, whose busy on his remaining gauntlet like he has been this whole mission. "So, how'd we do boss? I think we made out pretty well, all things considered."

Robin takes a break from his wrist computer and sighs. "Honestly, better than I'd hoped. Especially given that we had no idea that the Five were sitting around down here. Don't know if HIVE hired them on as added security or what but we got lucky to escape like this."

"C'mon man, it can't all be luck. This team is damn good. That Ravager guy? Angst and superpowers combined. He coulda nailed us but we left him in the dust and got away with the whistleblower." You punch him in the shoulder. "Not a bad night if I do say so."

He punches you right back, smirk on his face. "Don't let it go to your head now. The moment you get comfortable, you get dead. Batman taught me that."

"Pfft okay, Mr.DarkProdigy." You both share a laugh as you settle back into your walk besides Speedy, whose still rubbing his shoulder where his armor stopped that bullet. "You alright there Speedy? I know exactly how much that bullet hurts."

He takes off his hat, letting his copper colored hair fall out as he musses it up. "Yeah man, I've had worse. I'm surprised that a bullet is all I go tonight."

"You got worse before?" You can't just let that pass.

As he straightens his hat back on he scratches the stubble on his chin. "You ever heard of Killer Croc? Big mean mother, scaly? Four foot long tail that can slap a full grown man across the street?"

Fuck, you'd remember that. "Nope."

"Well he usually frequents Gotham, but he tried sinking his teeth into Star City last year. He got me got me god, chomped on my leg and several of his teeth went right through my armor, needed an assload of stitches." He actually laughs at the memory. "Had to get a few of em pulled out my leg on the operating table.

"Damn, and I thought getting my ass zapped by Anarky hurt."

Speedy's eyebrow quirks up. "You tangled with Anarky?"

"He sure did." Robin chimes in from the front of the train. "And on his first real night out."

Speedy just whistles. "You sure know how to pick em, team leader."

As the conversation comes to a natural end you're starting to feel better about tonight, despite the physical abuse your body was put through. Your eyes wander until they land on the girl again. She's walking with her head down. She's wearing a brightly colored dress, dirtied by what she's been through tonight. She's been silent since you first saw her. Maybe leaving her with her thoughts isn't the best thing.

You slow you're walk to line up with hers. "Um, you don't gotta say if you don't want to. But why did they have you in there?"

She glances up at you and looks back down. Maybe this wasn't one of your better ideas. You're aren't exactly the friendliest 'face' in costume, and- "They wanted to study me."

"I-I'm sorry?"

"They- they wanted to study me, pull me apart and kill me if they had to. I could hear it all in their minds they, they just wanted me for what I can do. And once I was no longer useful they'd throw me away. If I wasn't already dead by then." It all comes out in a whisper. She never looks up from the ground. "I'm sorry, I just- I never expected to find such people when I came here."

Goddamn, she really was scared out of her mind. She's probably a metahuman. You'd better steer this away. "So where are you from then? If you're an out-of-towner then I wouldn't blame you for getting caught be scumbags in Gotham. It can feel like they're around every corner."

She wrings her hands in front of her. "No. I- um. I wanted to thank you. All of you. But you were so brave, the way you stopped that sword. It was amazing."

"Oh. Uh. I just kinda reacted y'know? Adrenaline can do that to ya." You find yourself unable to look her in the eye now, hmm, that grimy wall sure is interesting.

"Here." Robin announces suddenly. You all look up and see him climbing up to undo a manhole cover. After you all climb up you walk less than a block to where you all met tonight in the first place. Robin gestures for the team to follow and you end up waiting while he plugs in his gauntlet to his bike.

Artemis walks to her own bike and retrieves a fresh quiver before she returns. "You have an on-board computer?"

"Yep, nothing fancy. But loads more processing power, let's see what we managed to find to nab from HIVE."

The whole team and the girl spend a moment in the chilly night air just waiting while Robin takes care of decrypting the data they obtained. Not too long after he begins Robin snaps his fingers. "We didn't exactly strike gold, I was locked out of their deepest information banks. But we hit big. We've got multiple locations of other HIVE bases and even details on a couple of their big clients. Gorilla Grodd, Roulette, we're gonna be able to hit them before they ever see us coming."

You raise your hand, slowly. Robin blinks at points to you. "Okay, so remember I'm still new. I have no idea who the hell Roulette is and I saw the gorilla only once on the news when Flash beat his ass and put him in a nice little zoo called Iron Heights."

Robin nods and goes through his computer before bringing you up to speed. "Grodd is a hyper intelligent Gorilla who is obsessed with creating more of his kind and killing Flash. Do not underestimate him."

Artemis then speaks up on the next subject. "Canary told me all about Roulette once. No powers but she's a world class fighter on her own and likes to make lots and lots of money. Her biggest racket is something she calls Meta-Brawl. She shoves two metahumans into a big cage and has them fight, sometimes to the death. Whether they want to or not. But Canary said she and Green Arrow shut her down for good last time."

"Unfortunately, it seem that she's back in business. She's been requesting metahumans that can put on an entertaining fight, and Grodd has been buying some very specific parts from them." Robin closes out his display and looks at the team. "We did well tonight. We may have taken a few hits. And we still don't know how to keep Ravager down but we accomplished everything we set out to do. I'd call that a win."

Wondergirl looks satisfied. "Another fine victory for the Titans."

"We were lucky." Aqualad starts. "But we work well as a team. This can work, Robin."

"Woah woah woah. Let's not get too into patting ourselves on the back here." Speedy interjects. "We've got one more mystery for the night." He turns to the red head, and all eyes are on her suddenly. "Who are you, really?"

She looks like a deer caught in headlights for a moment but she settles down when no one pressures her. "Okay. I'm sorry for avoiding it." She closes her eyes and her skins slowly turns an almost mint green color. fading from the light peach tone it was. " My name is M'gann M'orzz. And I am a daughter of Mars." Robin, Speedy and Artemis' jaws drop while Aqualad and Wondergirl look more confused than anything. She gives a cute smile. "But you can call me Megan!"

>End of Session

>Ok, I'll be around while I prepare pastebin updates. Please, if you've got any questions ask them now! I also have a question for you guys. How much do you want civilian life/school stuff? Do you want it regularly?Only sometimes? Just as much as the superhero-ing?
>>
>>1769084
as much as the viglante-ing, its a nice balance to hear it
>>
>>1769084

I want civilian/school life regularly. Not all the time, but I do want it to be a good portion.

And yes, I asked you on Twitter about it.
>>
>>1769084
equal balance
if we have 2 threads of crime fighting we should get 2 threads of Civi life
>>
>>1769084
I'd prefer 2 to 1 on super stuff and normie stuff, but I'll settle for an even split.
>>
>>1769084
Somewhere ranging in the 2-1 super to normie to half and half seems good.

Alrighty, you have been heard. I will not neglect the other side of Morgan's life.

Time for your update.
